Speaker 1 (00:01):
Welcome back to Eves Sports Radio. Welcome back. It's August eighteenth,
twenty twenty five. Yes, it is Monday. Thank god it's Monday.
We always say, thank god it's riding. Thank god it's Monday.
Phone numbers five zero two, five seventy nine hundred. That's
five zero two, five seventy nine hundred. Sports Talk seven
(00:23):
ninety KRD. Shannon is somewhere, we don't know where, maybe
training getting ready for me. But we've got Rick behind
the glass. Rip, thanks for sitting in with us again today.
Need to be here, Jerry good Rick, I appreciate that.
Like you said, you're lowder than I am, Rick, and
George is older than everybody. But I put my finger
(00:43):
underneath my nose. Yes, I just want George Williams to
know the Reds had a walk off win over the
Brewers three to two. That's all, just letting George know
that the Reds are coming. Anyway. Before we get off sidetrack,
let's bring on our all our co hosts. Let's bring
on young Anthony Eves to the show. How are you, Anthony?
Speaker 2 (01:05):
I'm doing great this morning. How about yourself, lister putting
your nose.
Speaker 1 (01:08):
On your fingers. Well, here's the deal, Anthony Friday. I
just want you to know this before we bring the
other guy on. George Williams said he spanked you and
told you to put your nose in the corner and
didn't let you out for the whole show. He kept sprinting,
screaming throughout the whole show. Anthony, put your nose back
in that corner. Get back in that corner, I see, George.
I can't believe it say things like that. I can't. Hey, Rick,
(01:31):
bring that of the guy and let him defend hisself.
And he was just throwing out slurs. Hey George, how
are you?
Speaker 3 (01:37):
Yes, welcome back? And he's too smart to believe something
like that. Everybody's done told him about how you tried
to embarrass him publicly. I told him, Matthew, when you
get back to the show, I'm just glad you didn't
hit the show and call in and butt his face.
But uh, I know you'll catch up. But we have
(01:58):
this show with Cody. You you can go on the
internet and get this.
Speaker 1 (02:03):
He can't go back, so true, Anthony, I couldn't believe
George said that he puts you in the corner. Wouldn't
let you come out due to show him Friday. I said, God, George,
it's hard to believe. It's hard to believe that he'd
say that. But welcome back, Anthony. I would never do
anything like that, Anthony, ever. Just letting you know, tell
(02:26):
you that bro run George. He's part of the show now.
He goes under the bus like everybody else, undone the
bus forward.
Speaker 3 (02:38):
Your dad backs it up and then runs it over. Yeah,
that's the kind of guy. And he just don't back
up over. He backs up and then runs back over.
He did the whole every commercials something. He's like, what's
that noise? And he puts it in reverse again.
Speaker 2 (02:51):
You know, he got those offer retires and he doesn't.
He doesn't feel too much resistance down there.
Speaker 1 (03:00):
George. I can get you. I mean, George, you will
be run over easy, that's all George. But but I'm
gonna leave it alone, Anthony. I wouldn't have said those
things about you. I told George, I can't believe you.
I just can't believe you.
Speaker 3 (03:12):
I love you as I really appreciate.
Speaker 1 (03:18):
All the listeners joke George, George. All the listeners know
who said that, So I guess they know the truth.
Speaker 3 (03:27):
But you can't handle the truth.
Speaker 1 (03:30):
The truth. I can't so anyway, And we did get
you pretty good Friday. But that's okay, you're back.
Speaker 3 (03:36):
Let's go back on the weak stuff. Let's go back
on the weak shop. We didn't have a thing to
do with.
Speaker 1 (03:43):
Oh see, you're gonna back away like that, George bo
I swear I.
Speaker 3 (03:47):
Was worried about the brother Jared. You kept coming back
talking about this is what I do. I put him
in the corner. I don't allow this. Every since he's
been a young boy, I've been busting him down. I
wish you would, and I'm gonna put him in the
corner now every time we come back from breaking and
get back to the corner.
Speaker 1 (04:04):
I did, and it was fine, and it was it
was good. It was good. You should have heard it.
Go back and listen to it. No, I guess we'll
move on. We're moving on, Anthony, We're moving on. So guys,
we I what a great weekend in sports. We've got
a lot to talk about, George, Anthony and all our listeners.
(04:26):
You know, it is getting old, what I'm telling you.
I listened to Dylan Gabriel fifty times his statement after
the game and was he speaking, which we'll get into
the second half of the show. Was he speaking about
your door Sanders or not? George fifty times. I would
have sworn I sent it. I told Anthony this morning,
go listen to it. I sent it to you. I
(04:48):
would have sworn I sent it to Rick. I would
have sworn I sent it to you. George, I didn't
send it to anybody, and now I can't find it.
And that's no joke, George. I would have sworn I
sent it to everybody. So we're gonna find that clip.
We're gonna play the second half of the show anentity.
And were you able to find it, I can't believe
I cannot find it. Sit it over, Okay, Okay, great,
(05:13):
appreciate that. I'm just gonna be honest with you. When
you get George, get knowd something else. I'm just gonna
tell the truth. I'm not gonna feel about it.
Speaker 3 (05:21):
Knowing what you want, knowing what you're doing is something else.
You much know what you're doing, You have no clue
of what you're doing, and you try to get on
the little computer or your little phone and act like
you know what you're doing, and sitting and stuff. You
don't know what you're doing. Call Athny, Okay, call hold up.
Speaker 1 (05:37):
I've been doing this ten years. I've been doing it
ten years.
Speaker 3 (05:41):
Don't matter. You lose your phone, you can't turn your
phone on. You can't get on the right station, Jared,
you turn your phone off while we're on the radio.
It doesn't matter how.
Speaker 1 (05:51):
Cobby lost his phone. Cobby lost his phone in my back.
I didn't lose my phone. That was kybby Harrison. No,
you have a fine.
Speaker 3 (05:59):
You don't know how to work it. You have a
phone and don't not work it, Jared, that's a bad point.
You call Anthony and how do the.
Speaker 1 (06:06):
Hold George? Hold up? George, and you know that I
was gonna spare you and just go after Shannon. But
you can get on hitless, George. I don't care. Now.
We had a Balad reunion yesterday. There was a Ballad reunion.
All Ballot greats came back. We were at Hays Kennedy Park.
At George, you can get on the hit list. You
can get some of this. I just you know. I
(06:26):
mean the Rocky comeback, no question about it. The Rocky
comeback is coming back. So Anthony, because George is going crazy.
I can't believe George would not say tell the truth
on the air. It's okay, George, you don't want to
say that. And to get in the corner, Anthony, we're
gonna throw it to you. Seven twelve, well Over, not
(06:48):
we're gonna throw do you after the break? George yesterday? Yesterday, Georgeynasley. No, No,
George yesterday. We had our ballot. We have it every year.
We have the classes. Seventy two, three four if we
take pictures, George. In my class were three of us
and we had a great time. Martin Dunbar's class after
that came seventy nine and oh George, we probably had
(07:11):
one hundred people at Hayes Kid. It was a lot
of fun, great food, great music. George, and everybody's talking
about the good old days and it's so funny. The
very first group picture we took, the photographer says, on
the count of three, one, two, three, make sure you
say Pat Crawford. George, I told you all. Pat Crawford
is the one who poddled me. He gave me a choice.
(07:34):
You know, it's like Denzel Washington, an equalizer.
Speaker 3 (07:37):
I give you a choice.
Speaker 1 (07:39):
Either you're gonna take three lits or this paddle. I said, okay,
what's the second choice. We're gonna call you a dad.
I said, you gave me one choice. But George, I
didn't think that every everyone would say one to three
Pat Crawford. I was like, yes, and we all won
two three. Pad Crawford, the late great Prett Crawford. He's
(07:59):
passed away. He was the first principal Ballad And Georgie,
I just thought that I knew I had my story.
He never told my dad. My dad never found out,
still doesn't know today. My mom knows I told her,
but my dad did not find out the true story.
He'd have beat me down, George, I'm telling it, Anthony.
He wouldn't have had a clown hat like I took
the school for you. Oh no, he would have beat
(08:21):
me down in front of everybody. So George, that was really,
really good and we had a great time. So next
year we wanna do it again. George, I'm gonna invite
you so you can take some pictures, so you can
see real greatness, ballored greatness, no central vallored greatness. How
you feel, George, you coming?
Speaker 3 (08:40):
I think it's kind of funny. Jared, Oh, I don't
miss Evince. Yeah, you know what I mean. I just
know that I went to the grade school of all time,
so I don't have no problem with other schools. I'm
glad to see people trying to catch up.
Speaker 1 (08:50):
Oh that's something. Catch up, Anthony. He's just old and delirious. Allie,
keep that phrase, not you. George is ali the greatest
of all time. He didn't say Central about himself. Go
to JAF go to he went to Central, all right.
Speaker 3 (09:10):
The greatest of all time, George, that's.
Speaker 1 (09:14):
The only squeak and go to George.
Speaker 3 (09:18):
That's not my fault here, that's not my fault. I
tell you to go to Ballots. You could have went
to a real school. Oh okay, I.
Speaker 1 (09:25):
Got you to it anyway. Rick, we're gonna go to
break seven fifteen. When we come back, we're gonna listen
to a little national news from Anthony. Then we're gonna
play a clip. George. Oh, you're gonna fight with me
on this one. George Thomas Hammock, You're gonna fight with me.
He's a hit football coach. We'll talk about it more
after the break. I'll paraphrase that. I'll get everybody up
(09:47):
to date and then I'm gonna let him listen to
it and I'm gonna tell him wrong, wrong, and wrong,
and people are gonna be mad at me. So anyway,
I'm used to it. This is EVE Sports Radio one
numbers five zero two, five seven seventy nine. H I'll
talk to you in a minute and welcome back to
EVE Sports Radio again. I want to make sure everyone
understands that Blu Gras Audi has now sold the business
(10:10):
to Germaine Auto Group. I will be solicting Jermaine Auto
Group very soon. I want to welcome and think townty
Country for Bill Hayes for being my major sponsor of
EVE Sports Radio and all that Billy has done. And George,
I hate to say it, the best car I've ever
owned is a truck I just bought from Bill Hayes
Commonwealth Dodge and it's incredible. George, I'm being honest, So anyway,
(10:33):
but thank you Billy Hayes for sponsoring ED Sports Radio.
Without you, I couldn't do it. Now I can tolerate George,
but golly, Anthony, I'm throwing it to you for national
News and then we're going to listen to Thomas Emmed
Hammick from Northern Illinois and football coach George making a
statement about transfer players in college football and the reasons
(10:57):
for being in college And you and I are going
to fight go first, and I'm gonna let you try
to pick me apart second, and Anthony, you'll get to
learn third. But I'm gonna go at this man. So
Anthony hit me with the national news.
Speaker 4 (11:10):
And of course we've got a ton that happened over
this past weekend. Obviously, we did have the BMW Championship
going on out there as owings Mill, Maryland. Obviously, for
those who watch golf.
Speaker 2 (11:20):
The same guy keeps.
Speaker 3 (11:21):
Winning and winning anywhere.
Speaker 4 (11:24):
Mister Skotti himself did win by two strokes shooting minus fifteen,
taking on a three point six million dollar pers at
the B and W Championship going into the FedEx Cup Championship,
and I can says he's on a roll, and it's
funny to say. Back on March sixteen, Phil Michelson said
that Scotti Scheffer wouldn't win another tournament before the Ryder Cup.
(11:53):
Bill Bill was a great golfer, but I think Scotty
has won more tournaments in the last two years. And
Phil mix' entire career.
Speaker 1 (11:59):
That got true, but close. Andy Phiel's got a lot,
FIL's got like forty six wins, but still he.
Speaker 2 (12:08):
Yes, Scott Jack went a single tournament is crazy.
Speaker 1 (12:13):
I know. Here's the deal, George, because you're not a golfer.
But it goes like this, Jack Nicholas, no question, Tiger Woods,
no question. Scotty period. If he stays on this course
one more year, Scotty falls in third period, and then
you got Arnold and a lot of the great Oldwens.
But still Jack and Tiger Scotty keep he stays on
(12:34):
this course. Unbelievable. Unbelievable. What he's doing, George, unbelievable. And
the chipion was just like Tigers. Well, Anthony, it wasn't
at the Masters, it wasn't the sixteenth or seventeenth hole
in a tough match, but it was still a big
chip in at a critical time. So Scotty's rolling. That's
all there is to it.
Speaker 3 (12:55):
He's rolling.
Speaker 1 (12:56):
Congratulations. Only thing that can hold Scotty back, George is
your l A P. D. Only. Oh, I shouldn't have
said that. Excuse me, you all move on, Anthony, go ahead.
I'm sorry. I'm crazy today I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry.
Speaker 4 (13:18):
That's that's that's tough for you to say. This is
why we're not getting more.
Speaker 1 (13:21):
Tournaments back in the role. I know, Hey, George, you
shouldn't have locked the man up before the day round.
Come on, George could have yelled anting screen. I mean, Joe,
you don't take.
Speaker 5 (13:31):
Him in, boy, I go ahead, go ahead, Anthony, I'm
definitely give me down.
Speaker 2 (13:45):
A couple of points. One of the things actually I
wanted to touch up on, since you know football is
right around the corner.
Speaker 4 (13:50):
This coach Stoop's on the hot seat this year, and
this is more so I don't even want to say
it's a it's a statement and a question in the
same sentence, because we all know Kentucky's got.
Speaker 2 (13:58):
One of the toughest schedules in football this year. Yes,
going to five a five game street where they play.
Speaker 4 (14:03):
All ranked teams, all missing week two, and they're playing
Toledo in the Week one and they're only favored by
a touchdown at.
Speaker 1 (14:11):
Home Toledo, Mississippi State. George, Toledo, I'm not I'm Mississippi State.
Speaker 2 (14:18):
That's just that's just a frightening sign for UK fans
when your money lies only minus two O five against
a MAC team.
Speaker 1 (14:25):
That's George.
Speaker 3 (14:28):
I'm glad you brought that up. I'm sitting there and
I looked at the University of Louisille school schedule. The
coach bron should be fired if he loses a game.
Only games that he even got it's gonna be a
game is Clemson and Kentucky. I mean, what the.
Speaker 1 (14:47):
Week, Georgia, George, Miami, Miami. But George, you're right, George,
You're right, George Walliams, I ask everybody. We'll do it again,
Anthony Great, I didn't know you're gonna bring this up today,
but it's a hot topic. University of LITTLEVI had Kentucky schedule
where we be talking about college football playoffs, George william
jor opinion, No, Anthony York, Anthony your opinion. No.
Speaker 2 (15:10):
And I've said it multiple times, like I love I
love watching U of L football.
Speaker 4 (15:14):
But one of the things with them, though I even said,
I said, honestly, I really don't want to go to
any of the games. And I'm not saying that because
I'm not a fan of U of L football, but
they don't play anybody, so like, realistically.
Speaker 1 (15:24):
Do I want to.
Speaker 3 (15:27):
You go, tell me.
Speaker 2 (15:30):
It's more going to hang out with friends in the atmosphere.
We haven't had college football for a couple of months,
so it's good. But I'm not going there to be
like I'm going to watch a good football game. No,
unless it's Clinson or Miami, you're gonna be watching a
bunch of JV players play. That's why I'd rather say
I'd rather go watch the now whould you came probably
get their head beat in not even percent chance. But
(15:51):
like going to the Old Miss game, the Texas game,
the Tennessee game, those games I'd rather go see even
if UK loses, to go see good players play. I
don't want to watch you U of L play a
bunch of walk on them. I hate to say you
And here's the last couple of years.
Speaker 1 (16:06):
I agree, But who's for now? Now, Guys, who's fought
see I've been saying for years now that Lousville doesn't
have a quality team. They do. I said they'll be
Kentucky again this year like last year. I didn't say
it two years ago. I picked Kentucky. Last year I
picked at George, I was right. I taped people, So George,
you can't say I didn't. I told them two years
ago in Kentucky with defeatle I said last year lotll
(16:28):
I said lot. But here's the project. I know I'm
already but I honestly, but George, here's the problem. Kentucky's got.
The SEC is brutal. That's all there's too and it's brutal.
So with Kentucky fans as the saying you have to
let Stoops go, I'm kind of so, so where do
you go? Who are you gonna hire? George, That's all
(16:49):
I'm asking.
Speaker 3 (16:51):
Yeah, yeah, Well, what ill all I say, let's talk
about the JV schedule. I'll playing that all sounds good,
but I mean you come in and talk to me heavy.
What Kentucky gomna do? What Kentucky don't do? But what
games lose a game? Jed, We're gonna do. Le Bron.
Here's what I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (17:08):
Louis Bvo has a chance to be in the college
football players. I've said it all year, George, because of this,
I've said it, not because they're great, but because of
their schedule. I said that. I agree with you in Miami.
Speaker 3 (17:21):
Come back to Kentucky.
Speaker 2 (17:25):
I have a different topic of discussion going in with
the two teams between U of L and UK this year,
who do you think has more NFL potential players.
Speaker 6 (17:35):
U K.
Speaker 1 (17:38):
I mean Kentucky. I mean louis will put them in
last year Kentucky. I don't know the actual number. I
don't know the number, but I mean I know that
both teams have put pros out. I don't know the
actual number, Anthony, I don't, I can't, but I mean
both teams, I know put players in the last year multiple.
Speaker 3 (17:54):
Since we don't know that, I gotta say this, how
many players that we've seen in Kentucky over the mount
of players we seen it, I mean that can kind
of help you. I mean, you see more players that
are playing in the NFL preseason now than we've seen
at the University of They've mentioned that they're from the
University of Louisville.
Speaker 1 (18:09):
I mean I've seen George. I just don't know that.
But I'm not see George him. You're jumping on me.
I'm not disgre I'm not jumping on you. What I'm
saying every week schedule, it's tough for Kentucky. That's why Anthony, George,
I'm the one who put it on Anthony's National News List.
I just think we were gonna get to it today
because it's a topic that I'd like to talk about.
(18:32):
I don't know if you should be on the hot seat.
What do you expect for Kentucky to truly do? And
that sec George, I'm a stoops guy.
Speaker 7 (18:40):
I don't think.
Speaker 3 (18:41):
No, that is not my problem.
Speaker 1 (18:44):
But I'm not saying that they should be firing it.
But he is on the hot seat, he is, but.
Speaker 3 (18:49):
But but again, Jared, my thing is that your coach
has such an easy schedule. If he loses three or
four games, oh, let me finish, now, let me finish.
He's the schedule is so south, Jerry, if he loses
any games, but sad, like I said, Kentucky, Clemson and
like they said, maybe Miami. What do we talk about
(19:11):
his coaching skills? I mean you talking about the hot
seat when when they put him on the high seat,
he's losing this acc Jay, he used to be in
on the hot seat, very high.
Speaker 1 (19:21):
Something something like.
Speaker 8 (19:23):
And it plays and it plays.
Speaker 2 (19:25):
A hand in hand factor with UK. Obviously, UK isn't
a tougher conference, we all know that. But at the
same time, it has frozen cons to be in the
a c C and the SEC is the easiest. Do
you think it's easier to recruit better players than the
SEC even in at UK.
Speaker 3 (19:37):
Yes?
Speaker 2 (19:37):
Is the schedule harder yes? Is there more money to
be thrown around for n I L?
Speaker 1 (19:42):
Yes?
Speaker 2 (19:42):
So at the same time, yes, U of L is
in the a CC, but we don't have as many
cards to work with than we do in the SEC. Now,
flip flopping that before I sit here and jump the gun,
do I think U of L will be able to
compete as well as UK and the SEC over the
last couple of years. I think we'd have We'd have
a solid chance, if not better than a couple of years.
Speaker 1 (20:00):
Point, people would.
Speaker 2 (20:06):
Rather go play in the SEC right now over the
a SEC because outside of you know, U of L,
Miami and Clemson, the ACC kind of sucks right now.
Florida State was horrible last year and they've been the
MECHA for the last decade and a half, so it
goes hand in hand. I think the UK has had
definitely a much harder uptill climb than U of L has,
but I think the U of L as a whole
has still had better years over the last couple of years.
Speaker 8 (20:28):
I won't say overall, but.
Speaker 2 (20:29):
I think this year, I think even if they played
in Week one, I think U of L would still
be the UK.
Speaker 1 (20:36):
Okay, good now, hold up, George, Anthony, great point. I'm
not arguing with you on without a doubt. I'm the
one who wrote it to be national news. I thought
it was worth conversation. Got me, George Williams. No one
has complained about the a SEC one Jerry's no one.
I told him this was coming. I've been saying it
for for the last eight years. The a c C
(20:58):
has to improve. If you you remember when the a
CEC had Clemson and Deshaun Watson, Lamar Jackson at Louisville
Jameis Winston in Florida State. I was saying, George on
this show publicly, the a c C is coming in
Kentucky fats. When they started first calling me. They used
to get after me, saying slow year, Rold Clemson's Florida State,
(21:21):
but Louisville, slow your road. I was the one beating
that wagon. Well the last seven years. Back up, let me,
George finished the last seven years, George, nobody has said
that the a CEC football and basketball schedule at weekend
more than Jerry Eves nobody, George, okay.
Speaker 3 (21:43):
But I think I said as much, and it's not
more than Jerry. Were both okay, So let them get that.
And I say that the conference is a week conference
and the only thing if we got the SEC we
can talk about. We don't have nothing about ACC.
Speaker 1 (22:02):
Seventeen. George, I'm the way I a George. I'm still
gonna put mine out there too. So I'm gonna bring
on a caller before we get the break, right, and
we're gonna let him say, uh, please bring on Ryan
to the show.
Speaker 3 (22:14):
My man, my man. We get from.
Speaker 1 (22:18):
He's your man, Well, George, what's up? George?
Speaker 8 (22:23):
Jerry and Anthony? What's up?
Speaker 1 (22:26):
You know?
Speaker 2 (22:27):
You the man?
Speaker 3 (22:27):
Right?
Speaker 8 (22:28):
So hey, Jerry, you can't have it both ways, dog,
all right?
Speaker 1 (22:34):
You you're trying to have it both ways.
Speaker 3 (22:36):
And I can read.
Speaker 8 (22:37):
I can, I can.
Speaker 3 (22:39):
I can sit right through.
Speaker 8 (22:40):
All that hot garbage you're putting out there.
Speaker 3 (22:42):
Okay, thank you, thank you?
Speaker 8 (22:45):
You know he will he, George, he wants to come
on here and talk about.
Speaker 7 (22:48):
All Lousle's got a pathetic schedule all all, uh, little
don't play nobody if they.
Speaker 8 (22:56):
But but but then then then in the next bread
they going to college football playoffs, which is a jerseys Yes, okay, Jersey, which.
Speaker 1 (23:09):
Hold up, listen to you. I'm gonna give okay, listen
to you, everybody I want to listen. And I'm going
to justify my statement. Louisville plays Eastern Kentucky my opinion win,
James Madison, my opinion win, Bowling Green my opinion win,
Pittsburgh my opinion win, Virginia my opinion win. That's five
(23:30):
and oh. I have them losing to Miami at Miami
five and one, Boston College six and one, Virginia Tech
seven and one, California. And we know Louisville gives up
a game a year. They do, but if they didn't,
they'd be eight and one going into the Clemson game.
They'll be ranked in the top ten twelve. If they're
eight and one with only one loss to Miami, it's
(23:52):
not my fault. Then they've got Clemson, Yes, Clemson eight
and two. I got Clemson beating them, s m U
at s m U. I got s MU beating them
eight and three, Kentucky at home. I got Louvi winning
nine and three. That's the schedule.
Speaker 8 (24:11):
Okay, goodbye football, goodbye football playoffs.
Speaker 3 (24:15):
Yeah, ninety three at the a C C ain't.
Speaker 4 (24:17):
Getting you in.
Speaker 1 (24:18):
No playoff dog, Okay, I agree, I agree, but hold
am right now. I want you to be honest with us, Ryan,
be honest. I told Ron and numerous people, if believe
them up sets, this is gonna not Clemson Miami, which
those into ten and two, they got a shot, that's all.
That's just that's why I say what I said.
Speaker 7 (24:40):
Go ahead, Jared, Hey, Jared, you know you know what
I told you that that word is if past the
biggest meaning in the world behind it.
Speaker 8 (24:48):
Okay, if Kentucky goes nine and three, they got a
chance to go to college football playoffs, but they're not.
Speaker 3 (24:53):
They're not gonna go.
Speaker 6 (24:55):
Okay, hey, let me give you a couple of little
facts there, Jerry, y'all, y'all can rant and rave and.
Speaker 7 (25:07):
Jump up and down over old Floyd Street and tell
me how good he is and how great he is.
And we got the quarterback whisper and and all that
stuff about Miller Moss. Listen, Lincoln Riley knows a little
bit about developing quarterbacks too. He developed a Heisman Trophy
winner he also set Miller Moss on the bench, so
he ain't the dumbest guy in the world.
Speaker 8 (25:28):
Y'all can pretend that you've got the best coach in
the country when it comes to quarterbacks. But I ain't
seen it yet for sure. So we'll see what.
Speaker 1 (25:40):
We can see, right, Okay, George.
Speaker 8 (25:45):
Right, and here's one other thing I'm gonna add to
the to the to the thing. You better pray that
Miller Moss don't get hurt because the guys y'all got
sitting behind couldn't start it. Mail or Ballard.
Speaker 3 (26:05):
Do you guess what was?
Speaker 1 (26:08):
We got quite a few to go to, right, Yeah,
I know you do.
Speaker 3 (26:12):
I know you do. I know you do.
Speaker 8 (26:14):
And that defense you guy couldn't stop Mail or Ballad
from going down the field either. By the way, that
second that secondary that's pick well, well that so's everybody else.
Come on, man, I guess you're gonna stop them. I
guess you're gonna stop them, you Rode. I like the
(26:35):
way you rolled by Pittsburgh is Oh, that's a win.
Speaker 3 (26:38):
Well you thought it was a win.
Speaker 8 (26:39):
Your four last your four last year was a win too,
wasn't It was in California that last year when you went.
Last year, when you went to together, you said, all
Stanford's a win. The year before last you said, all
pittsburghs a win.
Speaker 3 (26:56):
Man, y'all, the man.
Speaker 8 (26:57):
Arrogant, the arrogance, The arrogance is just uncalled for.
Speaker 1 (27:02):
Hey, season here, Hey, guys, can't you hey Brian, don't
y'all love it truly? George Seasons? Yeah, Hey, brother is here?
You are? Hey?
Speaker 8 (27:10):
Hey, but hey, George, My main, my main reason to
call is he wants he wants to get on the
side of the fence, and he's not sure about little
Wood and how good they are. But then he's scared.
He's scared, so he starts you. But we'll probably go
to college for football playoffs.
Speaker 1 (27:28):
Come on, man, one upset one upset over Miami and
they're in the picture. Young to say what you want.
We're gonna wait and see to let this play out. Guys,
we're seven thirty seven. We gotta get the break, y'all.
Have a good day. Eve Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (27:43):
We'll talked in a second.
Speaker 1 (27:48):
Welcome back to Evens Sports Radio. Of course, the show's
gone off the rails. Football season is back. We've got
George Williams, Anthony Eves and of course the Brandon George
love how you try to slide away, but Friday, you're
gonna give. We're gonna make sure that you give us
your Kentucky prediction. We're not gonna let you try to
slide it to my nine and three cardinals. My Cardinals
(28:10):
are nine and three knocking on the door. We're gonna
get your prediction, not myn for George. You're playing the college.
You're playing, no excuses, You're gonna get George.
Speaker 3 (28:19):
No, no, no, I had I didn't realize until conference
was that week.
Speaker 1 (28:25):
You just said. You said, you said, you've been saying
it as much as I am. I've said it for
seven years.
Speaker 3 (28:29):
No, I'm talking about eight years, eight years ago. I
ain't talking about just today. I'm talking about eight years,
like you just bought up. How long you've been talking about?
Speaker 1 (28:37):
Really, George, Winston Watson and Lamar it was coming. I mean, George, well,
we had Clemson twice, champion, Florida State once and of
course yes Lamar didn't get there, but Heisman Trophy winner,
the league was coming, and then boy it stopped. We
thought he was gonna continue with Trevor Lawrence and Trevor
(29:00):
did okay at Clemson, but he still wasn't a Watson.
And then since then we're hoping Clemson is Clemson of old.
I have to wait and see. I'm still not sure
of that, George.
Speaker 3 (29:11):
The only thing I think about that is that Jerry
Clemson has been the only thing that's been carrying that
sec in football for about the last five years.
Speaker 1 (29:18):
Now.
Speaker 3 (29:18):
That's the only thing that y'all really have to talk
about is Clemton C Clemton. I mean, you got you
got a what a fourteen team conference and you got
one team. Come on, Jerry, I got fighting.
Speaker 1 (29:31):
I met that, Joe.
Speaker 3 (29:32):
I'm not saying you're fighting. I was just saying, though
I didn't realize Louisville schedule was as soft as it was,
and that they really didn't have nobody to take out.
Speaker 1 (29:40):
You know, if coach Brown is the coach California, it's
not his fault. He's coach Broms.
Speaker 3 (29:46):
I'm seventeen to say that.
Speaker 1 (29:49):
He's eighteen nineteen games in two seasons. George, you can
only play who you play. I mean, that's.
Speaker 3 (29:58):
I understand, But if he doesn't mean they give you
your schedule again, that's not what I'm talking about, Joe,
I'm talking about winning. I'm talking about if he loses
three games in that conferenceship, what kind of coach does
we say is if we're saying how weak the conference is,
if he loses three.
Speaker 1 (30:13):
Games, that's a fair Cortaer. If you say four, I
would agree with you. I got three. It's got two
right opponents, Miami and Clemson. They play them both. But
I agree with that that right now, George, the conference
is awful. You're not arguing about that's all.
Speaker 3 (30:31):
That's all. That's all I said. That's all I said about.
Speaker 1 (30:34):
The conference, George. It's a terrible cousence.
Speaker 3 (30:36):
And like you said, it was on the rise, and
because I big thing at that time that we were
talking about it. Back then we're talking about the SEC
didn't have any quarterbacks. Now, y'all fans, all the great
quarterbacks are still not winning and you still not winning, George.
Speaker 1 (30:51):
That is a fact we did. The ACC was getting
the quarterbacks they were. I mean, it's just the facts.
So we had to wait and see George seasons here.
We're gonna play it though, George, and we're not going
to get to Dylan Gabriel's will hold that. But we're
gonna hear Thomas Hemmick. He's the head coach at Northern Illinois,
and George has done a great job. He's a great coach,
(31:13):
and he is talking about college football players and what
he would do and how he would do it. And
when he's done, George, I'm gonna give my explanation of
his statement. And I'm going to show people that sometimes
people like this get carried away. So please play it
for so everyone can hear the head football coach Northern Illinois,
(31:36):
African American talking about transfers and players and what they
go to college for. Let it play.
Speaker 9 (31:44):
Yeah, And to me, I mean to be honest with you,
I love the challenge.
Speaker 1 (31:48):
You know it.
Speaker 10 (31:48):
Don't bother me one bet because you know what, in life,
you're gonna make decisions right. Sometimes it's gonna work in
your favor and sometime it's not. I told our team
the other day, you know, we lost all these guys.
Let's see who plays. So it's all good when people
put it on Twitter. Hey, all glory to God. I'm
going on the transfer portal. Let's see if they play.
How many of them guys gonna play or travel or
(32:10):
get snaps. You know, I was thinking I was gonna
tweet something the other day a picture of me and say,
you know what, I enjoyed my college experience. I didn't
get one dime, but the lessons I learned was more
valuable than any money you can ever pay me. And
I appreciate that because that is long term. People are
(32:30):
losing the fact that this is short term. I coach
in the National Football League for five years. Five years, right,
don't lose fact, don't lose focus or what the long term?
Get your degree, learn valuable lesson that's going to help
you in the long term of your life.
Speaker 9 (32:49):
That's the whole purpose.
Speaker 10 (32:50):
This is a transition from being a kid to a
grown up. And I hope people don't lose focus in that.
Everybody's talking about everything else besides what is the most
important thing for going to college? Because if you going
to college to go get a couple of dollars, you
might as just go get a job.
Speaker 9 (33:08):
This is too hard to go get.
Speaker 1 (33:10):
A couple dollars.
Speaker 10 (33:12):
Learn the lesson that you need to learn to be
successful in life for the next forty to fifty years
of your life.
Speaker 9 (33:18):
That I would do it again for free, for free
because of the things I learned.
Speaker 10 (33:24):
That's why I'm standing here today, because of what I
learned in college, not because of how much somebody gave me.
That's what I would tell people and parents. They need
to learn that lesson too. Stop trying to.
Speaker 9 (33:35):
Live through your kids. Teach your kids what are the
things they need.
Speaker 10 (33:39):
To learn to be successful. That's what I'm telling my kids.
I don't care about no nil, no revenue share. I
can care less. You need to learn things in college
to get you prepared for life, to be a father,
a husband, to work everything else. Those are the most
important things people are missing.
Speaker 1 (34:00):
In my opinion. Good now, George, everyone got a chance
to listen to it, and I just want to have
a rebuttal and for some reason only and I mean this,
that was an African American coach. I'll listen to. Only.
The only profession I've ever heard, George that everyone says
(34:21):
that you got to learn life's lessons but not get
paid is when it comes to athletics. Let me explain
something to you. I wouldn't checked me. I just wanted
to see said he would do it for free. Georgie
makes a million one this year. He's never coached one
day in his coaching career of nine years to where
he did not get paid. He has never done it
for free. Got me. Ever, he went to college, the
(34:45):
rules were such that that you had to and I
had to do it for free. But I would not
ever do that for free. He said, it's a job.
It was a job, and people made billions of dollars.
So again, when it comes to athletics, George, why is
it that everyone that wants to Why can't you do both?
(35:06):
Why can't you Why can't you go to school like
most millionaire parent kids do and do both get a
great education and also work with the company business, further
your career, understand how to handle Monday money? Why is
it in athletics we should do it for He coached
(35:27):
five years in the NFL, got me. I coach eight
or nine in the NBA. George, being fortunate is being fortunate?
Why did I because a person called Butcher Beard gave
me an opportunity. Somebody gave him an opportunity. But that
is not a lifelong goal. There's only George. I want
(35:48):
to ask everybody how many Division I programs they think
there are? Football a lot less than basketball, Basketball, three
hundred and sixty got me three hundred and sixty two.
They keep adding because tea like Bellaman comes in, So
don't owe me to the exact number. It might be
three sixty four football teams one hundred plus, right, George.
So again, yes, he's never coached a day, and his
(36:11):
life are free. He says, fatherhood. The number one thing
of fatherhood. My dad told me was to support your family. George.
If I make somebody a billion dollars, I'm gonna get paid.
Coach you crazy as you can be. I don't care
what you say. When the business makes so much money,
it can pay you a million dollars. He's the highest
paid person at Northern Illinois. So I have a tape
(36:35):
of a young lady saying, if your university is paying
the highest paid person on staff as a coach, and
what you've got is you've got a side hustle. You've
got a sports program with a side hustle called a university.
So all I'm saying to coach Hammick is this, they
should be able to do both. Like every solitary person
(36:58):
else in America, they should be able to benefit from
their skills. It is a job they go every day
and day they have to show up at his practice
every day. It's a job. I don't care what he says,
period point plank. And they should be compensated for it,
just like he's being compensated for it when he was
in school, George, Like when I was in school, just
like you were in school, it was against the rules
(37:20):
to be paid. It is not anywhere. The Supreme Court
had to make that decision, not the universities. They were
to continue trying to pimp them and say amateur athletics,
and it makes the second Again, I'm gonna just remind
coach that after the NFL, college football and basketball made
more than Major League Baseball at ten point nine million,
(37:44):
basket ball at ten point eight million, at all soccer
and all the rest. After that, college athletics made twelve
point nine the NFL made twenty one point three billion.
So again, I just want everybody to know it's not amateur.
But we have people that want to keep pushing on
people that it has to be. So George, I'm gonna
(38:05):
go to break when we come back, I'm gonna through
it to you. You got your commentary, you got your point,
But all I'm gonna tell him is he has never
coached the year without being paid, not one time. He
is not doing it for free. He's being compensated, and
so should the kids. The life experiences should be the
life experiences with compensation. Why can't you have votes? That's wrong?
(38:28):
Why is it with athletics all of a sudden, it's
got to be for free. I'm gonna tell you this, George,
and I'm one of the fortunate ways. I have a
total left knee replacement. I've had both my hips replaced.
I've had my left elbow, right elbow dislocated with the
screw in it. I've got cartilage taken out of my
right knee. I'm forgetting things. I'll remember when we come
(38:50):
back after break this Eastwarts Radio, Well, throwt to George Williams.
In a minute. We're this Eastwarts Radio. Are you telling me?
Hold up? It's only seven to fifty four? Rick, Rick?
Do you hear me? Rick?
Speaker 9 (39:05):
Yeah, that's about it, Jerry, that's it.
Speaker 1 (39:09):
No, wait, Rick, we usually ended seven fifty seven. Oh well, George,
I didn't mean to get you. You have to call
back here tomorrow, all right, George, with yes, George, call
back here tomorrow. Can't give us your rebuttal all right,
I don't know it.
Speaker 9 (39:24):
All right, I don't my mistake, Jerry.
Speaker 1 (39:26):
We're good. Sorry, that's what I thought. That go ahead, George,
Like what go ahead? George? All right?
Speaker 3 (39:35):
The first thing I think about, Jerry is, you know,
that's being a coach. You know that's coach is top.
You know, my conference is not as strong as your conference,
and I got to get players to come to my conference,
and I gotta do some things that may impressed primes
and future recruits.
Speaker 1 (39:50):
Yet.
Speaker 3 (39:50):
But like you say, Jerry, I don't disagree about getting
paid and compensated Jerry. But the thing I think is
that the university not only should they pay him there,
they should teach him how to use them money, how
to organize pay That's what I think they should do, Jerry.
I think that's the problem for the players have you
know what I'm saying, Because you can have money, Jared,
like you always say, a fool and his money or
(40:11):
separate real too. But if you prepare these young men
to come out and be businessmen and tey to use
their money in the correct way. But Jerry, when you're
in a smaller conference, you've got to do things to
make people think that your conference is the best, and
your coach loves you to know end and this is
the best way to go for him. So I understand
what he's saying in that regard. But like I said, Jery,
(40:32):
like you say, you need to be paid. If the
coach can get paid, then the players can get paid.
I do not disagree with that all, but I do
need believe that the players should know how to handle
their money and be able to work with their money
when they come out of school. And that's the thing
that I think is most important for them, Jared, and
to get their degree. You know what I'm saying, because
I think education is very valuab.
Speaker 1 (40:51):
Absolutely so, George, great point, brother, guys. Again, God willing,
We'll be back tomorrow. If you don't have a smile
on your face, you're not fully dressed. Just remember that
you're walking around with a frown on your face, then
you don't have your pants on or you don't have
your dress on. Women, make sure you put a smile
on your face, put a smile on someone else's face.
(41:11):
Have a wonderful day. God willing. I'll be back tomorrow.
And George, you shouldn't have told Anthony to get his
nose out of the corner like that. You shouldn't have
done that, George. You shouldn't have done that, George. I'm
standing up on you must.
Speaker 3 (41:23):
Be putting a skirt at it now. You don't stut
out of that trash. If you don't know a fragi Jared,
I know what happens.
Speaker 1 (41:31):
You don't happen. We'll talk about it. Love you all,
talk your lady George. Bye, Ba
