Let me just let everyone know Anthony had to open
up today, so he is not going to be with us.
It's just George and I old school mister George Williams
ring you as he calls himself, Hey, ring, who's on first?
Speaker 2 (01:44):
What's up? What's up?
Speaker 1 (01:50):
Hey? I'll take a little fellow, George. I'm young, I'm young.
Speaker 2 (01:55):
Your life. You are.
Speaker 1 (01:59):
Like a prune. You're freaking up. You know you used
to be being jump get dunk? You can't dunk, George.
Speaker 2 (02:06):
That's true, that's true. Does a donut? I don't never donut? Yeah,
that's all a mind. Yeah, but you know what I mean.
All Like I said, it's good to have had the
experience of being able to play. Some people will give
the right on for.
Speaker 1 (02:23):
That, George. People honestly see me and say, you look
like you could still play. I said, if I tried
to jump over a piece of paper, my knees would leave,
my hips would walk away, George completely, my body would
fall apart. No I'm nothing but a bike rider and
a walker. George. There's no jumping nor running ever in
(02:43):
this game. They said, what if you're getting robbed? I said,
it's gonna be a fight, that's all. There's no running, George, those.
Speaker 2 (02:51):
I still I still jump rope.
Speaker 1 (02:54):
You should have got at in you trying to be
the greatest of all.
Speaker 2 (02:57):
Time all Dan, Well, when you come lf, you gotta
be the guy, A guy dude.
Speaker 1 (03:01):
Okay, Well, I'm just letting you know that, George. Something.
And this is this morning. I'm in the office. Ms.
Gin demanded that I worked to my boss, so I
came in. George. It is six ten maybe six o
five on River Road. I am three hundred yards behind
(03:23):
a car coming toward me. Three four hundred yards. You
can't tell it's car. And out of know where a
car a car comes out George on River Road. Before
is orn were talking about George Williams.
Speaker 2 (03:36):
It's on.
Speaker 1 (03:36):
I'm sure people are hearing about it on the news today. George.
I mean bam a BMW. I I know the gentleman
in the BMW and saying no names. Everyone is healthy
and everyone got out of their cars, every but George
to see it happening was frightening. Two cars colliding.
Speaker 2 (03:56):
And wonder where you're doing now?
Speaker 1 (03:58):
Exactly like George, all the sparks and all you just
don't know. When cars hit each other, it lit up
the road. I could see it. You could see the
gentleman's face. Who veers across into my lane? Who hits
a brick wall that pushes back into my lane? George?
Oncoming traffic, Oh godly, so George. I creep around. Everybody's
(04:19):
in their car. I creep around both cars on the
grass on the left. Get out. Everyone's getting out of
their car. Everyone was fine, George. The gentleman was driving
an old truck. Now I'm not saying he doesn't have issues,
but there were no blood issues. And the gentleman getting
out of the BMW exactly who had all airbags were deployed,
everything front, Everything was oh yes, that part is painful me.
(04:44):
He got out of his car. Who I knew him personally?
I was glad when I was introduced to myself as
there's any issues, who I am blase. I saw the
whole thing. But the gentleman who created the accident was
there was not the issue? He told them gentlemen, I
am sorry. He called nine to one one said I
created in an accident. There was no issues. It was
all that Georgia was frightening to watch on River Road
(05:05):
this morning, to actually see it was right now, no question.
After that, Jerry, people came up, go ahead, go ahead.
Speaker 2 (05:14):
Now, Jeff, if I could very a little bit from
the show man, I had something that happened to me
Friday Man, And you know we always talking about coaching.
You know, I talked about being ring you but you
know I was so overwhelmed Friday. And we talk about
not gambling. Like I tell people all the time, I
played my babies and don't gamble. I bet on my
babies and not gambling. Jerry. I went to a Butler
(05:35):
football game, Butler Mail football game the other day. I
got to the game and I looked up and young man.
When I first started coaching at air Course, one of
the first teams, uh young man, Frank Bentley senior. Jerry.
You know I told my players I always talked to
him about being great father, being great men, and what
they're going to contribute to life and what their children
because of life. Jerry. He looked at me and pointed.
(05:58):
I took his picture of him and his family. I
looked over. He said, look, coach Frank Finding the junior
was the offensive coordinator. Okay, I'm standing there and I'm
so excited about that. Jerry an he's a math major
and he's the educator he teaches. Also, next thing, I
walk up as a second player on my player, mister Johnson,
who I talked to him about being a you know, greatfather,
(06:19):
and he was on the first team. Jerry, his son
now goes to Tennessee State. I leave to go out
the door. You know, I'm overwhelm right now. I'm walking
on cloud nine already. I go out the door. I
meet a young lady, Keisha and lay play La played
for me. Keisha's girlfriend. They've been together since high school. Jerry.
They have a son that's going to play basketball at
(06:42):
I mean basketball at Bellaman this year. Right, So now
I'm really overwhelmed, right, she said, No, Coach, that's not
the really important thing. He said, My son when we
got home from saying our basketball scholarship, Bellaman called him.
Jerry offered him an academic scholarship. The young man carried
a four point grade point every jered, I couldn't I couldn't.
I couldn't. I was overwhelmed, and like I said, you know,
(07:05):
I don't play that lobby, Jeed, but I thought I
hit the me and Jolly Jack Pott. I'd be in
Dollar Jackpott that night. I was so overwhelmed, Man, to
see my baby doing this kind of thing and these
young men and people talk about what young men and
young young African American men don't do, Jed. I was overwhelmed.
And I keep tell you you just gotta find the good.
We only report the bad. And I said, I felt
(07:25):
like a bigger bout this morning. It did it did, Jee.
I was just so overwhelmed. I said, Man, I ain't
been the same sence.
Speaker 1 (07:38):
That's George. And what did they say about raising a
child community, George?
Speaker 2 (07:47):
And then see these young men be fathers and raise
their children like I've always wanted to. You know, people
talk about winning championship, Jere. I couldn't have want the state,
wouldn't man as much as to me as I watched
the young people and what they're doing for their families
and their children, je and academically for the community. So
I'm just so excited. So I had to report that
jam I'm sorry to take up.
Speaker 1 (08:05):
The tab the congratulations, George.
Speaker 3 (08:08):
You know that's that is a good report and we
need more of those. Of course, I went to the
ballot game, George. Of course you know I'm valid Nation. So, George,
I was at the ballid game. And George, let me
tell you what high school sports. It's just something about it, George.
(08:30):
So it's so funny because George, you know, I think
that I'm the coach at Ballad.
Speaker 1 (08:35):
Do you understand anything. I think I'm the coach. I
think I'm the athletic director and the prince sport. You know,
I think I run to school, you know, I mean
I did so, George. I'm truly standing on the sideline
with the players. I mean I'm on the sideline.
Speaker 4 (08:52):
I'm listening tour. I mean I'm listening to coach Cohon
called the players, George. I mean we were side by side.
One man say kind of checking in Coach. We're looking
at each other. He was working though, George, but of
course he does give it a little look. But he
was working intens George. It is three to nothing.
Speaker 1 (09:14):
Balid and Larry, my little brother, went to the game
with me. He went to Westport high school and he's
on the sideline too, and he was like having a
ball because George, how often do you get to go
and stand on the sideline at a high school game
and absolutely be a part of the kids the coaches.
I said, Larry, there's going to be a pick six.
(09:34):
We need to break this game open. We Ballard and
I do say we because that's me Ballad not supposed
to say we supposed to say Ballied High School, University
of Louisville. But get that junk. I said, we need
to pick six, break this thing open. He says, You're
not going to have.
Speaker 2 (09:49):
A pick six.
Speaker 1 (09:49):
They're not gonna even throw the ball. They injure the
starting quarterback, George Ballard does I said, oh, here comes
this game time. He's gonna throw an interception. There's like
he's not. They're going to run the ball. They're not
gonna put that put that pressure on that young kid.
Loading behold, George, is the boy throws it across the middle.
He George was not talking about next thing, you know,
(10:12):
pick next thing. You know, he's running bias. George. The
linebacker intercepted the ball is probably five or six feet
off the sideline. George I swear to you. I'm next
to the coach.
Speaker 2 (10:25):
Go sure. Oh my god, I didn't throw you out.
Speaker 1 (10:30):
They didn't throw me out, George, go go. He needed
one block. George. The quarterback who threw the interception was
trying to make the tackle. He got the one block
that he needed, cut it back to the middle, and George,
the head coach, coach, Cohon and myself, we're screaming.
Speaker 2 (10:45):
To the house, to the house.
Speaker 1 (10:47):
George had a ball. It's crazy what high school sports does. George.
I wouldn't. I mean, it's just crack. I wouldn't do
that at River, George. I've been in big games. I
would George. I was on the sideline screaming. Then as
they kid comes running off, George and all the kids
are mobbing him and they're bumping into him, and everybody's
high fiving, and I'm high five and I'm like, this
(11:08):
is crazy. High school does.
Speaker 2 (11:11):
People.
Speaker 1 (11:12):
You need to support you. Oh school sports, what it
does is unbelievable, George. So end of the story and
we'll get to the show. But just like yours, one
of us, he had to be a freshman sophomore. He
looked at me and I'm just looking at him, where
to go?
Speaker 2 (11:28):
Where to go?
Speaker 1 (11:28):
He looked at me, he says, you to go on
that picture?
Speaker 2 (11:35):
Shoot, I said that guy he was looking at me.
He's like that's you.
Speaker 1 (11:42):
I'm like, yes, George. It was like m m nothing
like great old Valley, George. I'm just stelling had a
ball there. Pat Crawford, Well.
Speaker 2 (11:53):
You know what else will tell you there, doctor will Hoyt?
What what what young people are paying attention to? You know?
Would you ever thought that young man had looked at
that picture and then come back and recognize who you
were on that picture? You know you? And then we
talked about they don't remember this and don't do that,
but they cared. Yeah, we just got to give them
more credit.
Speaker 1 (12:11):
They did it so shocked the message with George. But George,
my bruins came out with the victory. So, I mean, George,
we got a big one this week. So George is
seven seventeen.
Speaker 2 (12:21):
When we come back, y'all got y'all Ron's house.
Speaker 1 (12:24):
Oh Wenna. Ron doesn't even have a house.
Speaker 2 (12:27):
Is not I has a house there. It's on Preston Highway.
I mean it's Preston Way.
Speaker 1 (12:32):
They're gonna come. They've gotta come to the pig farm
and get busted. Oh yes, it was supposed to be
at Mail. But their stadium is not ready, George, George,
the little bitty stadium's not ready yet. So we'll talk
about the games, the college games, George. We're giving away
money this year. When we get back, George, there's gonna
(12:54):
be a reason. You're gonna get your first pick. Of course,
you can't win the money, but we're gonna take your picks.
You can't with the money, though, George. It is for
the public way to break my heart. Jehel, George. This
time you're gonna be heart broken because George, at the
end of this year, there's gonna be a five hundred
dollars winter. Oh god, you the money kind of getting serious?
Speaker 2 (13:15):
Man, think Ac coming back.
Speaker 1 (13:20):
A thing?
Speaker 2 (13:21):
Oh no, you.
Speaker 1 (13:24):
Yeah, a C couldn't beat me if you wanted to.
You gotta beat you, gotta beat the brand, George, Ace.
The only thing AC can say is tribal chief. But
when it comes to picking games, mm hmmm. Like we said,
a C can't throw a beach ball in the ocean
with a rock in it two inches away. He just
can't do it.
Speaker 2 (13:41):
George. I don't know where he is today. I'm way located,
but I do know one thing, Jerry, before it goes
off there, we know a C. We know a C.
Speaker 1 (13:52):
So Georgie, when we come back, we're gonna jump into
the high school games. Are your Yellow Jackets did not fare.
Speaker 2 (13:59):
We expect but we did.
Speaker 1 (14:01):
We expected it. Rebuilding. We're not gonna kill the Jackets
just yet. Manuel is really good, so I'm not.
Speaker 2 (14:07):
Gonna go yes day are Yeah, Yeah, I didn't really good,
Jeff really good.
Speaker 1 (14:11):
So we're gonna talk a little high school sports and
college football after the break. Welcome back to Sports Radio.
August twenty fifth, twenty twenty five. It is Monday. Phone
numbers five zero, two, five seven, seventy nine hundred. We
will be getting busy real soon with these games. Welcome back.
We've got George Williams. My son Anthony is off today.
(14:33):
We've got off he's working. But we've got the one
that only rings here chart. So I gotta do all
the national news, Jeord, dang you. I got used to
sitting back and listening. But let's go through the high
school report first. George, Okay, congratulations to Atherton forty eight
Central Hall.
Speaker 2 (14:49):
Nothing I looked at that, Jerry jar I looked at
that man, and I have to give Afterton a lot
of credit. They've done took their name off the door
of met status. You just don't go to. He just
don't go to. After the then get a win, now, Jere,
you got to earn it. I had to give him
a lot of credit. I watched that to day. When
I seen him, I said, maybe it's about the third
(15:10):
year we've been talking about what after doing. We're gonna
down and their coach of great credit. Yes, I'm might
have to go out. I don't know their coaches. I'm
gonna have to go out.
Speaker 1 (15:17):
And Okay, let me, I'm gonna have to do that,
because yeah, we do. It has turned it around. They
had the hell y mighty, mighty mallet ballot Bruins George
nineteen Lexington Catholic six hard fok game George.
Speaker 2 (15:30):
Even a teams Yeah, lection Catholic would be a little better. Jee.
They usually come in with power. Yeah for them.
Speaker 1 (15:38):
Also, well, they went their last six errol last year, George.
But a rough start, but they've got some talent, George.
Speaker 2 (15:44):
Would you say the quarterback got her too?
Speaker 1 (15:45):
Though?
Speaker 2 (15:45):
Didn't?
Speaker 1 (15:46):
Yes, he did he got hurt in the second quarter
and they were driving the ball. That was big. Okay, George,
let's continue down. Butler forty two, Coach Beards, Breaker Ridge
County to thirty. Christian Academy forty five, pipe Ville.
Speaker 2 (16:01):
Yeah, backup, didn't you say Butler?
Speaker 1 (16:03):
Yes, Butler, play Butler County. Excuse me, Breaking Ridge but County. Okay, yes,
Breakridge County forty two thirty.
Speaker 2 (16:11):
Yes, all right?
Speaker 1 (16:12):
Had you had it tho Butcher's school, we have got yes,
we don Manuel forty two Central at Manual Nothing. I
hate to say that Manual forty two Central.
Speaker 2 (16:24):
Ye, as another young man quarterback in the Central J
I taught photography and he's doing a great job. Mister
Phil Baker. I won't give a shout out to him,
which is when.
Speaker 1 (16:32):
She stays healthy. Fern Creek fifteen, No, I mean.
Speaker 2 (16:38):
It was just funny though, you right, but you write
it was like that, Ja, you gotta worry about it.
Speaker 1 (16:42):
You gotta worry about it. Fern Creek fifteen, Seneca Nothing, which,
of course the Creakers like always George, where's my same
e xavy, where's my trinity? K c D thirty one
Stars twenty eight Heart fought game, George, so many, that's
what I'm going down. You're right, mal forty eight Butler zero.
Speaker 2 (17:07):
Butler was at that one.
Speaker 1 (17:09):
Yeah, that wasn't pretty either. Males got balad though, George.
They got their hands full of this Friday.
Speaker 2 (17:15):
Yes, sir, Trinity is sixty two? What Castle is forty three? Jar?
Speaker 1 (17:19):
Okay, great, I'm just going down and I see it.
Speaker 2 (17:23):
People.
Speaker 1 (17:24):
Anthony back down on me on the last moment.
Speaker 2 (17:26):
Go ahead, if you've got.
Speaker 1 (17:27):
Him, call him out.
Speaker 2 (17:28):
George thirty eight past fifty six.
Speaker 1 (17:33):
No, it's that Orange Borough seven, sant Xavier thirty.
Speaker 2 (17:36):
Eight on right, exactly right, sir, I'm sorry.
Speaker 1 (17:39):
No, that's fine, though. This is Anthony's job. He left
his hind dry. Trinity six. Ok. Pleasure Ridge Park nothing
God Trinity two times back to back. Champ Pleasure Ridge
Park could not score sixty two to nothing, George, Valley
High School thirty, Eastern High School twenty eight, Wagner thirty six,
Western zero. That's it for the high school sports, George.
(18:01):
We're gonna move on, but a lot of great games.
Make sure you sport high school sports. We've got the
only game that counts this week, mill Ballard, that's all
that matters. I want everybody to know you're hear about
it throughout the week. Now, George, we got to get
to the college football contest. Now here's the deal for everyone.
Just like always, You've got four games. We're not throwing
(18:25):
any any high school games. Everyone says that was the ringer.
I got to cheat, they call me all, so I'm
not putting in any high school all.
Speaker 2 (18:34):
I joined them, Jerry, I johned them, Jerry. They called
you a couple of names, a couple of myself.
Speaker 1 (18:41):
I'm sorry exactly. I know you joined them. So no
high school games, are you whiners? All you complainers? Only
college games. The college games for this week Texas, Ohio
State at a Louisville e k U. There's not even
a spread on that game. Kentucky Toledo seven and a
(19:02):
half point game. Kentucky might have their hands for George,
l Okay, LSU, Clemson. Four games. Now, so everyone understands again,
you will have your four games. I will pick the
one game that counts for the week that you'll compete
(19:23):
against me. Everyone could be four and oh, George, everyone
could be four and o most first two three weeks,
everyone wins all the games George, not this time though.
I don't know who's gonna win between Texas Ohio State
or LSU and Clinton. But George, if everyone is four
and O, then the one game that I select that
will be for everybody, and it's either going to be
(19:44):
Texas Oil State or LSU Clemson. I haven't decided. I'm
gonna let my first caller dictate which game it is. George,
is the game that they'll compete against me for now?
You don't have to compete against me. You win fifty bucks.
You compete against me in the first week and win,
you win seventy five bucks. Will increase the money as
the week goes on. But here's the kicker, here's the difference, George.
(20:08):
When everybody to listen, we're gonna keep track. You don't
have to call in every week. I am going to
give you my email, but you have to call in
every other week. But the person that's the most consistent,
that is plays every week. Let's say I have got
ten people that play every week, George, the person with
the best record at the end, at the end five
(20:33):
hundred dollars. They don't have to compete against your euse.
They just have to have the best record amongst their peers, George,
five hundred dollars. But you have to compete every week,
or have to be Let's say we have fourteen thirteen weeks.
If you don't have ten and other people have twelve
thirteen weeks, I'm sorry. It makes you be consistent in
(20:56):
the contest. You don't have to compete against me at
the end. So, George, let's say that it was you
and you competed all fourteen weeks, and between you, Anthony
and I, you had the most wins. Anthony was second,
I was third. Right, we all were in it for
fourteen weeks. George, and you had your record over fourteen
weeks with four games you won four all four games
(21:19):
each week got me and you beat Anthony and I
by two and one. George, you win five hundred bucks.
There is no another game. You don't have to compete
against Jerry Eves. You're only competing against the callers. But
you have to beat the callers. But you have to
be consistent. You have to call every week. Every other week, George,
we calls. I'm gonna let you email me, but I'm
(21:41):
gonna keep trying. Guys, I keep dragging them every year,
all year, not just ac I do so. I will
let you email one week, but the following week you
must call. You must call into the show. And the
phone number is five zero two seventy nine hundred, five
hundred bucks. No question, Yeah, George short the city is
(22:04):
giving away five hundred bucks. They can't afford to no
other show and money every week, no show other than
the sports radio. I just want people to know that.
So there we go, now, George, what is your question?
Speaker 2 (22:16):
My question Jaed, And it's not you know, for me,
but for the listeners. All right, say if I got
the best record and I played consistently all fourteen weeks
eleven weeks, all right, and another person has the same
well has the same record, but he didn't play as
many games, you will, am I as many weeks I
(22:37):
would win.
Speaker 1 (22:38):
Great question. Let's let me say that againde great question.
At the end of the fourteen twelve week whatever the
calendar is, I don't know they played twelve games. Playoffs
do count? We play throughout the playoffs? You or know that.
But at the end, if they're saying you're tied both people,
I played thirteen weeks and have one hundred wins, George,
(23:00):
you played fourteen weeks and have one hundred wins. The
person that played the most, I don't care that I
won more wins. The person that is the most consistent
in the contest either calls or text got me. You
have to call it every two weeks. You have to
have a call. They win. That's all there is to it.
So being more consistent, George will win it. So yes,
(23:23):
let's say I had one hundred and one wins and
play twelve weeks, and a person played fourteen weeks and
had one hundred wins. George, the person that played fourteen weeks.
When a hundred wins is gonna win. I'm paying for
the people that listen to the show period, point blank,
that call into the show, that email the show, got
one called thank you, So that's what thank you. So
(23:44):
that's George. That's a great question. So I want you
to know, Yes, somebody can call it in ten weeks, George,
and when every game and have more wins, I'm sorry.
The person that called me or emailed me every week
is gonna win. That's all. So it's best that you
call in every week and have the most wins, and
you will win. Period. That's all. Great question, George, and
(24:08):
we already got So I want everybody to understand that
there could be a person with ten weeks participating and
have the most wins.
Speaker 2 (24:18):
He does not win.
Speaker 1 (24:19):
I'm paying for people to listen to the sports radio.
So are my advertisers got me? Not cherry picking me.
They have to call in, they have to listen. So
that's the deal.
Speaker 2 (24:30):
You give me five hundred dollars, Jared, I listen to
you every day all your life. I'm not giving it
to you.
Speaker 1 (24:35):
You still got brother, George. Let's take our first call.
We're gonna take our first goal. And the sports radio.
How are you?
Speaker 2 (24:46):
What's going on? Guys?
Speaker 1 (24:47):
Good and stand the contest. You understand the contest? Andrew, Yeah, okay,
you understand how you win the five hundred at the end,
the most consistent. There you go exactly. So I just
want people to understand, don't call me. I played nine weeks,
but I won all the games. Jerry, and I got
(25:08):
more wins of that guy that called fourteen weeks. The
guy that called me and texted me. The most wins
period point play five hundred bucks. There is no contest.
The person that is the most consistent, which means call
every week and has won the most will win the money.
So let's get with it. Andrew, this is fifty bucks
if and you get to pick the game fifty bucks.
(25:29):
You don't bet against me. Seventy five bucks you bet
against me. So let's go. Which game do you want?
Speaker 2 (25:34):
Tell?
Speaker 1 (25:35):
Is it going to be Texas, Isle State or LSU Clemson.
Speaker 2 (25:38):
You choose Texas Ohio State? Got you?
Speaker 1 (25:42):
I got no problem with that. That is my first game,
Texas at Oile State, Ohio State. From the newspaper, Guys,
I don't gamble, so don't call me with the spread.
You got the number wrong. I don't care. The newspaper,
the Cure Journal says two and a half point favorites
forty eight over under Ohio State. So who are you
going with?
Speaker 2 (26:03):
I'm going with Texas?
Speaker 1 (26:05):
Okay, your score? I need your score.
Speaker 5 (26:09):
Let's go.
Speaker 2 (26:13):
Thirty eight, thirty five?
Speaker 1 (26:15):
Okay, gotcha. Second game, there is no line. Louisville and
home against EKU. What's your score.
Speaker 2 (26:24):
I'm gonna take Louisville forty eight to ten.
Speaker 1 (26:30):
I've got tux Kentucky at home against Toledo seven and
a half point in the Courier Kentucky seven and a
half point and it's a forty eight point five over
under Career Journal Betty Live.
Speaker 2 (26:43):
We'll take Kentucky twenty seven seventeen.
Speaker 1 (26:46):
Okay, LSU Clemson.
Speaker 2 (26:51):
Who you going with?
Speaker 1 (26:54):
LSU's at Clemson.
Speaker 2 (26:56):
Let's take LSU. We're gonna take LSU. Uh. It's gonna
be a tough one. We'll say it's gonna be thirty
one twenty seven.
Speaker 1 (27:06):
Gotcha. Okay, So now that you have picked the game,
are you betting wagering against me? I've already got your score.
You don't have to, but if you do, I'll put
my score next to yours. Okay, I'm going to Ohio State.
You went with Texas. I'm going to Ohio State. Well, no,
I'm not. I gotta win money. I can't, I can't.
I'm sorry. I'm going with the under. I'm gonna take
(27:28):
your Texas thirty seven thirty five. I'm sorry. I played dirty.
Speaker 2 (27:35):
It is what it is. I think people talk about you, Jerry,
I know, I know.
Speaker 1 (27:40):
But Andrew, I've got you. So I'm taking the under.
I'm taking thirty seven thirty five Texas. So we'll see
who wins. Andrew I appreciate your brother.
Speaker 2 (27:51):
Yepy, thanks good day, Andrew.
Speaker 1 (27:54):
Yep, George, we gotta get the break seven takes away.
I know it's seven thirty eight is eve sports Radio
will be back in a minute. Welcome back to the
sports radio phone numbers five zero two, five seventy nine hundred.
I got George Williams on the other line. George, you
gotta turn your TV down in George, what your listen, George,
what's on television?
Speaker 2 (28:18):
Nothing? Jari No, I was, I was now really I
was looking at the sdure story. You know, some people
say that he got sabotaged in the last game by
of course putting him in for two minutes and putting
them in with the backup. So that kind of caught
my interest.
Speaker 1 (28:31):
What do you think, George. You know, here's here's the deal, George.
I told people the reason I love sports is that, George,
you get evaluated every time, every day, in practice, every game,
sports people are going to speak with you. It's the
only business in the world that you truly get a
score in a grade every day. That's why people make
(28:54):
a lot of money, George. They do. Other businesses aren't
that way. Other than George in mind. I mean, they
critique us every day on the show You'll kill us, Shannon,
they killed Shannon. They curtique us every day. But George
yesterday two days. But I did watch and played poorly,
played well first game. It happens He's not the only
one that played poorly yesterday. But George. But what is
(29:15):
your opinion on the handling of sder Sanders and the Browns.
You think they've handled him wrong?
Speaker 2 (29:21):
Your opinion, well, I think, well, Jared, I don't know
about him handling him wrong, but I look at the difference.
You can tell the difference when he plays with talent
and when he doesn't play with talent. And then I
also say the five sacks, I don't think most quarterbacks
could have got out of the situation that he really
got himself out of. And I thought he hounded. He
was mature when he came to his interview and how
(29:42):
he spoke about what went on, and he's doing his
best for what he's got to do it with. So
I think that Jared that I don't think he could
have did a lot better with the quality of players
he played with. And you know yourself, ject when you
play with talent, you play You play a lot better
when you don't play with talent. You know, it's hard
being a standout playoff. So I'm not sure what the
(30:02):
Cleveland Browns are doing. That's your team, but I've never
heard of a team recently.
Speaker 5 (30:06):
Jared.
Speaker 2 (30:07):
It comes close to carm four players on the roster,
so he's got to be pretty good if you're going
to keep it on a four quarterback Rochter Keath, So
that tells me a lot.
Speaker 1 (30:15):
We'll find out tomorrow at four pm. George. The NFL
must cut down to fifty three players, so we'll find out.
Here's the situation, Jordan. I told people when this all
started Game one, and I'll say it again. If I
a kid had to run off the list of quarterbacks
that have played poorly in exhibition games, you can go forever.
But the thing I do like about sports, George, is
(30:38):
that when you're not on a guaranteed contract, a lage
your eves, you gotta get it done. That's what makes
it so good. Bottom line you have Tom Jase said,
I have no problem George with two excuse me, two
and a half of the five sacks. You're one hundred
(30:58):
percent correct. He did the right thing are going down.
There was nothing else he could have done. There were
two of the sacks, George, when he did elude the
rush once right.
Speaker 2 (31:10):
Away. You're right, you know, George.
Speaker 1 (31:14):
You know I'm just being honest and fair. Everybody knows
I'm not. I wasn't a huge Colorado fan lest year
at all anyway, So I just call it like this.
His first game he played very well, I said it.
The last game he didn't play poorly was three for six.
He just took unnecessary sacks. Throw. Those boys are real, George, George,
(31:35):
they're pro players, so two of them.
Speaker 2 (31:39):
But you know it could have gone away. Yes, as
much as we complain though. The one thing I got
said in the favor is he's very mature when he
comes to the microphone, and he doesn't avoid questions and
answers every question. So I think that his maturity and
how he carries himself says a lot about the young
man is prepared to be a pro if he makes
it up to that next level.
Speaker 1 (32:00):
George. And see again, Yes, because you missed the nicey nights.
I want you to all understand George Williams is always
going to try to.
Speaker 2 (32:06):
Find a good stuff. Oh No, you said he doesn't
know many people get to that podium career.
Speaker 1 (32:13):
No, of course, ild him could kill you.
Speaker 2 (32:15):
It can.
Speaker 1 (32:16):
And you know what I would say those people, George,
which we have said, you know what Frank Eves would
tell George Williams. Jerry Eves carries Larry's Uh, that's what
I expect you to do, and I do. He's got
a great family, great upbringing.
Speaker 2 (32:29):
I expect that.
Speaker 1 (32:30):
I expect him damp that. Now everyone doesn't. I agree,
That's what I mean.
Speaker 2 (32:35):
Coaches that we've seen couldn't do it at the game.
Speaker 1 (32:37):
And but George, George, do I talk about those coaches?
Do I talk about them? I kill them? Yes, if
I killed them. But I expect you to handle yourself
at the podium correctly. So playing bad, Caleb Williams played
bad the number one pick years ago. His coach said
he stanked last night on Saturday. He played awful. I mean,
(33:00):
so there's a lot to that quarterback position, George. People,
you know what, people do not want to give starting
quarterbacks their due in the NFL. I just don't get it.
It is, George, the hardest position. Point guard is a
tough position in the NBA. But now everyone's dribbling the
ball in top and pro football. George, there's not a
(33:22):
tougher position. That's why they make all the money. They
handle the ball every solitary time. Go ahead, George, go
ahead every time.
Speaker 2 (33:29):
All I can say is, and you know this as
well as anybody, one of the hardest things is making
that roster and not a starter and stand for parents.
You know, that's what people don't really understand able to
make that roster. That is an incredible thing. I don't
care how you look at it, but that's what I
tell people, you know, to get that right.
Speaker 1 (33:50):
So the only fault I would say for Saturday Fisher
Door that I think playing for his dad hurt him
in one respect is that George I saw him do
the same thing at Colorado, takes sacks, run back for
thirty yards and take a sack and would be mad
at office of lineman. I saw that I did. If
his dad would have snatched his butt and told him
(34:11):
once you eluded once, just cast that ball out of bounds,
period point blank, lived to find another day. I don't
think you would have done that twice like he did
forty five yards in sacks. You can't do that that's
just that's a no no. So it's not that it
hadn't happened. It's just something that now that it has happened.
When it happens, when he gets his opportunity, everybody gets sacked. George.
(34:33):
That's not you take that your sack. Quarterbacks that you
take your sack. That's just the bottom line. So we'll
have to wait and see. But tomorrow all the cuts
come in, George. Fifty three man roster. They started with
over one hundred players. George, it's crazy trying to make
an NFL and NBA roster. It is crazy, George. Those
poor guys are right now sleeping on needles and pins,
(34:57):
trying to see who's gonna ask for pok They sleepy, George.
I went through it as a player and for three
years made the team. I was happy as a larm.
When Frank Layton told me I made it, my rookie
year old boy, I called Darryl, I made it. I
made it. Gary was like, I know, get yourself an apartment.
He already knew. Frank. It was crazy to win. Four
(35:19):
years later, when Frank cut me, George right and we
hugged each other. I said, Frank, thank you for an opportunity,
no joke. Straight Frank Layton just died his son Frank Layton.
Scotty Laton will tell you Frank and I were hugging
each other when he cut me straight up, great man,
great gave me a great opportunity, George.
Speaker 2 (35:36):
A lifetime dream like a lifetime lifetime dreaming.
Speaker 1 (35:41):
So and cut a guaranteed contract in nineteen eighty two
gentleman named Babe Durham to put me on the team.
He didn't have to do that, George, period point black.
So didn't do that too, and he did it. But
George from hugging Frank Layton in nineteen eighty five, three
years to George Williams, Paul Silace, Butcher Beard, this is
(36:01):
the truth of you all jerves. It's bad.
Speaker 2 (36:06):
Who's gonna cut up here with that?
Speaker 1 (36:08):
Hey, George, who's gonna cut the player? And how fast
you're gonna cut him? I was like, George, that's George.
Everybody believes you're You're crying and whining with each other. Now,
Frank Layton and I did hugo George, I cut Scotty
Thurman from Arkansas. Scotty will tell you I cut that
boy in about thirty five seconds, treym get his ticket,
(36:29):
Appreciate everything he's done. We can ever help you, call us,
wish you the best of luck by and else to say. Anyway, George,
you're gone.
Speaker 2 (36:37):
You're gone.
Speaker 1 (36:38):
There is no what should I have done? Did you
evaluate it right? It is what it is. Have a
nice day. Trainer's got your ticket.
Speaker 2 (36:45):
That's it, George.
Speaker 1 (36:46):
So George, we're gonna get the break.
Speaker 2 (36:49):
What you know. It's another side of that too, Ja.
If you're not right, you like to move a lot too,
you call the move you call the moving vans up
at you're right, the movie van come to your house.
Speaker 1 (37:02):
Pro sports does not play period point blank.
Speaker 2 (37:06):
You have to win.
Speaker 1 (37:07):
So anyway, guys, seven forty eight, we gotta get to
you our last break because all my sponsors are paying
you all this money. Just so you'll know this, five
hundred dollars Winter, I'm gonna give you a sponsor in
a couple of weeks so you'll know where the money's
coming from. Might be coming from, George, coming of your pocket? No, George, No,
(37:29):
it is not funding. Good sounding good Eaves Sports Radio.
We'll talk to you in a minute. Welcome back to
EANs Sports Radio. Yes, the show's almost done. Seven point
fifty one.
Speaker 2 (37:40):
George.
Speaker 1 (37:40):
We got another caller, and all I'm gonna tell you
is this. This caller couldn't beat me in basketball, volleyball, cricket, soccer, baseball,
bat mitton, football, track, tennis, golf. George, I'm just naming sports.
(38:01):
I'm just sitting here. He can beat me a monopoly, scrabble.
This erson couldn't beat me anything.
Speaker 2 (38:08):
I just want to let you know.
Speaker 1 (38:09):
Yoga, absolutely, baseball, George, Wynham, fencing, skating, ice skating, roller skating.
This guy couldn't beat me. I just wanna let y'all know. Shannon,
do me a favor. Bring on the one and only
ac not what you can beat me in?
Speaker 5 (38:29):
Sure, Sure, I appreciate everything you know. Let me tell
you something.
Speaker 2 (38:33):
I'm not here to compete against.
Speaker 5 (38:34):
You if the money is right and no caxes applied.
As long as it's main event, everybody's watching. This is
when I do business. I might be a crazy color,
It's true.
Speaker 1 (38:48):
I might be.
Speaker 5 (38:48):
Insane, but it's hullop up business. I don't do anything
for free. Can you get a bottle of water for free?
Not in America, Tower anywhere else?
Speaker 2 (39:01):
Yes, sir see. That's that's why we raised the pilot
this year, man, because the people in Louisville one to
hear you get back involved. So we went out and
hustled extra money and hoped that we could entice you
to get involved again. So I get beat.
Speaker 1 (39:17):
Break off.
Speaker 5 (39:18):
I why would I compete in a small town, in
a small market, Collie Wood. They need me. They don't
even wear a garden. They need me. I'm the big market.
It's all about the dollar, mister Eve. You don't get it.
Speaker 1 (39:38):
Fishing, I'll beat you and everything. I'll beat you in swimming,
I'll beat you in fish, you name.
Speaker 5 (39:43):
It, I'll beat you. Let me give you my let
me get let me give you my predictions. I know
you are almost run out of running out of time
doing your contest. I'm not doing that. Kentucky. Kentucky is
gonna win only five games, and Mark Stupid is gonna
be fired after this season. Louisville and Indiana they're gonna
(40:04):
win eight game each. And guess what, Michelleiams, this is
not a prediction, ladies and gentlemen, this is a spoiler.
Kailing de Boor of Alabama, Crimston Tidy will never ever
win a single national championship at the Inverse City of Alabama.
Brother Shannon, this is not a prediction. This is a spoiler.
(40:25):
Love you all. You can hit me all you want
and that's my fule. I love that too, Paulo.
Speaker 1 (40:32):
George, Hey, yeah, yeah, well George, he said he's insane.
Speaker 2 (40:42):
I'm not gonna take that away from you. George. He's
gonna wear that Monica.
Speaker 1 (40:48):
Who boy, he needs medication.
Speaker 2 (40:51):
I agree, Jeh. I know we don't have time to
go in this today, but you did something the other
day and you talked about it, and we're gonna do
it today. But we got off track a little bit.
But that gambling. You know, you were talking about gambling
the other day. I was talk the young man Beasley
and then the cart in the player. They got caught
up in the next gaming thing.
Speaker 1 (41:12):
But but you're talking about Oh yes, you're talking about
terroorzier it Jah Busy.
Speaker 2 (41:19):
Got out of it. Yeaed he was going to get
a forty two million dollars salary. The most it looked
like he can get now is seven million dollars because
they exposed him and then they said that he was
innocent and everything. So that's got a lot to do
with You know, you're getting mon coming out publicly and
say you gamble and then say you don't gamble. Jeed.
I think that's a big topic. We really need to
get in.
Speaker 1 (41:39):
We'll touch it, we'll get into a Friday George, have
a great week. Brother is the sports radio god. Will
it all be back without a smile on your face? Underdressed?
Talk to you all tomorrow. Bye bye,
