Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome back to EVE Sports Radio. It is August twenty sixth,
twenty twenty five, Tuesday, on a beautiful day, I mean unbelievable.
We've had an unbelievable weekend and another beautiful day today,
mid seventies, no humidity. Can stay outside and not break
a sweats not like walking around with a coat on.

(00:24):
It's a beautiful time, so make sure you get out,
get some exercise and no question, some walking. Stay away
from the running if you can. It's bad for your joint.
Trust me, I know this is E Sports Radio. My
phone number is five zero two seventy nine hundred. That's
five zero two five seven seventy nine hundred. Yes we do.

(00:45):
The football contest has started. I know everyone. Everyone wants
to wait to hear everyone else's score, and then on
Thursday and Friday they're trying to race in. So don't
do that. Get your scores in right away. So first
and foremost, let me bring on the person that was
absent yesterday. Back to the show today, Anthony, Welcome back
to the show. Are you.

Speaker 2 (01:06):
I'm doing good this morning? How about yourself? Mister? Can't
run down the street.

Speaker 1 (01:11):
Do not run down the street. Bad for your joints.
Well only experience tagging, Anthony. I've had both hips replaced.
I've had my left knee replaced. Right me, Hopefully I
can die with you. But that's if I kept running,
it would go too So I just went Everyone walking
and riding your bike is the best exercise you can do.

(01:31):
So again, Anthony, unless you're an athlete, then you need
to walk. That's all there is to it. So I'm
just trying to give people some good advice, Anthony. They
don't want to go through what I went through, well
maybe they do. If they do, then keep running. That's
all I can tell them. Keep pounding your joints. You
will find out they do wear out. That's all there

(01:53):
is to it. You're not bionic. I'm three quarters there
in the land, three quarters I've got more titanium and
steal in my body. I'm telling you. Going through the airports,
it's like Christmas time. I just have to set off
the alarms. So anyway, get out and get some exercise,
no question. So what's going on new with you before

(02:13):
we get into the show.

Speaker 2 (02:17):
Oh, I got a lot going on, some good, some
some is indifferent. Obviously, the good I will say I
can actually officially announce it now because I couldn't do
it before. But I will be starting with the Saint
Matthews Fire Department on September fifth, so something brand new
that will be coming next month. I've been going through

(02:38):
this process for Saint Matthew is probably about eight or
nine months now, so it's been it's been quite a journey,
to say the least, but finally got over that hump
and we're beginning.

Speaker 1 (02:49):
A new quest.

Speaker 2 (02:49):
So I'm I'm super excited for it. So if y'all
see you out there at the fire truck, give me
a call.

Speaker 1 (02:56):
There you go. Absolutely congratulations Anthony, no question. Great profession.
I mean, a very difficult profession. Like my brother is
Carrie and Larry I said, m he's gonna run into
burning buildings. Boy, everybody's not made for that, Anthony. But congratulations,
no question. Everyone can't get onto the fire department. And

(03:17):
I'm proud of you without a doubt. Of course, taking
tests has never been your problem. That was my problem
taking tests, but not yours. And the physical attributes, so congratulations.
And again you're serving the public, Anthony, and that's an
admirable job. Make sure that you do it. Properly. People
will give you respect, they'll expect respect back. They're gonna

(03:40):
want you to help save their family members, their pets,
their homes. So it's a great responsibility. But I'm super
proud of you. So congratulations with that, no questions. Now,
let's go. We've got so much to get into. But Anthony,
first and foremost, before I thought to you in the
National News, I've got about a thirty second. Right, it

(04:04):
might be longer than that. Anthony. We have got construction
everywhere now. Mayor Greenberg doing an appable job, and David
James I know him super well. Everybody, you're doing a
great job. But again, Chief of Police, everyone, guys, you
can have construction everywhere. So we've got River Road that's

(04:26):
partially cut off, Anthony. We're starting to do now with
the VA at two sixty four in Brownsboro Road. They're
going to be doing blasting, which means they'll be stopping
that traffic. Guys, you can't block off all the access
to downtown. You just can't. It makes it really, really,
really difficult, that's all. It's going to make traffic awful.

(04:47):
So employers, I know they're going to tell your employees
to leave early. Everybody will have to leave early. Now.
I understand the things we have to go through, but Gottlie,
it would have been great if we did one at
a time, one construction project, complete it, then the second,
but not both at the same time. It makes it
really difficult, really difficult East Jefson County trying to get

(05:10):
to downtown. It's really difficult now. So that's the only issue. Everyone,
be safe, leave early, don't be frustrated like I am.
Leave early. Make sure that you don't have to rush
and cause any other issues. Like I told you all,
I saw the wreck on River Road yesterday morning. I
mean I saw it dead in front of me, probably

(05:31):
four or five hundred yards, and I saw the two
cars collide. I saw all of a sudden it went
from darkness to light. You could just see the sparks,
and oh my goodness. Everyone was fine, Thank you God.
But again, let's just make sure that we leave a
little earlier so that we can get to work on time.
But logistically, when you're doing these things, come on, guys,

(05:53):
let's just don't cut off all access at the same time.
We just we have to think it through a little
bit better. So anyway, happy for the VA location was
always a difficult location. I'm not going to get into that.
I'm privy to some information that if I told you,
I'd probably come up missing with some mint shoes on
my feet. So I'm going to leave that one alone.

(06:14):
But just food for thought. Let's try not to cut
off Mary Greenberg. All the accesses to downtown, especially rush
hour schools started just a difficult time, very difficult time.
So right now we're at about seven twelve. You missed yesterday,
but we're going to get into all the things we
didn't George and I, of course you know we just

(06:35):
started talking. But a lot of big high school games
which we did cover. I just want people to know, though, Anthony,
that my ballot Nation gets a hold to those mail
bill doogs Friday at Ballad Anthony, I will be out
there for the twin Queen Queen to fault. I'm being
honest with you. The Queen toss, I'll be standing right

(06:57):
next to him. I'm gonna have all my bruin gear own.
It's time for mail to go down again, back to back,
just like last year. So Mail get ready to be
one in one. Saint Xavier's at Bowling Green that's another
big game. Frederick Douglas is at Trinity. That's another big game.
Three huge games this week again in high school sports.

(07:19):
So we'll name all the other ones after that. Why
I throw it to you, but I just wanted people
to know Mail Bulldogs. Yes this is the sports radio,
and yes this is Valord Nation, and we'll be waiting
for you at the pay farm. That's all I'm telling you,
point point till Friday night. So Aunt seven thirteen, you

(07:39):
do know we have the contest, Anthony, you missed it,
but I'm going to give out the rules one last
time so everyone will understand how it goes. This year,
we have the end of the season prize. Anthony always
adds something, and what it is is the people that
are in the contest consistently and the person that wins
the most games through the twelve week plus playoff season,

(08:05):
we'll have an opportunity to win five hundred dollars. They
don't have to compete against me, They're only competing against
the callers. You have to call in once every two weeks.
You can text me. I'm giving you my text number now.
It's j L. Eves five five five at Yahoo get
dot com. This is simple Jay for Jerry L for

(08:30):
League Eves. My last name e A V E S
five five five. That's my college number at Yahoo dot com.
Every other week you can send me your scores in
but you have to call in once every two weeks
with your scores. The people that are the most consistent
and the person that has the most wins total anthemy

(08:53):
for the entire season will win five hundred bucks. So
that is the rule. Back to like last year, we
got fifty dollars. You do not have to wager against me, Anthony.
The first caller chose. Of course, the Ohio State game
is the game of the week, so the first caller
got to choose it, and that's how it will go.
Every week. The first caller will get to choose the

(09:15):
game that counts the tie breaker for everyone. So we
already have that game chosen. If you want to wager
against me, you have a chance to win seventy five
dollars if you beat me. If you win, you beat
all the callers and my textures and then Anthony, you
wager against me. If you beat me, you can win
seventy five. If you don't, you'll win fifty. Basic contests

(09:39):
So guys, we're on on numbers five zero two, five
seventy nine hundred. Everybody understands the rules. I've got the scores.
I'm ready for you. So Anthony, we're gonna get to
break seven to fifteen. When we come out of break,
we're gonna throw it to you at the National News.
This is Eavesworths Radio. Start leaving on time because traffic

(09:59):
is going to be a bear. We'll talk to you
in a minute. Welcome back to the Sports Radio seven eighteen.
Phone numbers five zero two, five seventy nine hundreds. Anthony,
I'm already getting people sitting in to my phone. Male
Bulldogs are coming to the pig Farm. They're going to
leave with a loss. That's all I can say. I
will be out. I'm gonna make sure, Anthony, I speak

(10:21):
to the officials before the game. That's all. Make some
promises that I can't. I will not be able to
continue with what I'm gonna make some promises to Anthony
that will not come true, but they're not gonna know it.
I'll tell them that there'll be some financial rewards for
them after the game. And I'm gonna make sure that
we get this w against mail on set of Friday Night.

(10:43):
So that's all that matters. Say, I'm throwing it to
you National News and again, Saint Xager at Bowling Green,
Let's go Bowling Green. Frederick Douglas at Trinity, Let's go
Frederick Douglas. The dark Side, Anthony, I can't pull for them.
I'm sorry. That's all there is to it. Now, let's
go National News, Anthony, it's on you. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (11:05):
Of course I saw some funny posts this morning. If
they said the Cowboys were just like the Jaguars of
the NFL, it's just.

Speaker 1 (11:11):
Better marketing, that's all it felt.

Speaker 2 (11:16):
It felt so true when I actually read that, I
was like, the kind of got a point. But then
I saw the timinents on it, and they said, well,
at least the Jaguars havesion been to a division title.

Speaker 1 (11:25):
This exactly. The Cowboys cannot say that, Anthony. I'm just
gonna be honest, for all the Cowboy fans. You can't
have the highest paid quarterback, the third highest paid wide receiver,
and the highest paid pass rusher. He's a lineman and suck.
Let me say it to you again. It makes no
sense to Jared. I'm sorry, there's no reason to do that.

(11:49):
I hate it for Parsons and all the guys, but
bottom line, you're gonna have three of the highest paid
players in the NFL and your team's gonna suck. I mean, guys,
it is what it is. With the Cowboys. We're finally
going to have to tell the truth. Anthemy, my goodness,
something has to change, but it doesn't seem to anyway.
Continue with the national news. I'll leave my Cowboys alone.

(12:14):
We'll leave him alone.

Speaker 2 (12:15):
We'll give him a break for.

Speaker 1 (12:17):
Now, for now exactly another news and it's finally got
into Tommy Fleetwood finally.

Speaker 2 (12:25):
Got over the hump at the tour. Yes, I was
glad to see him finally get winned. It's been so long.
This is first tour win and one hundred and sixty
three starts. That's a long time. That's the last time
for you to be on the cuffs of being successful.
Because he's still made it good that he's made over
thirty two million dollars in his career and the tour

(12:45):
championship that he won to end the season, he won
a ten million dollar payout on that one, on the
third of his income in four days. You don't understand
any sports. For any sport that you play, when you
go that long without winning, no matter how good you are,
your confidence can get shot square in the foot. That's
all I'm gonna say. It's hard to win. It's hard

(13:09):
to see yourself win.

Speaker 1 (13:11):
Golf is a funny sport though, Anthony, Anthony, he had
thirty top five finishes. So I want people to understand
he had thirty top five finishes. If Tommy Fleet would
settles down on Sunday, we won't be talking about Scotty Sheffling.
I'm telling you all, if that man settles down on Sunday,

(13:31):
he would have run a monk through this. He's the
best ball striker period. He just could not seem to
find a way to close the deal. He closes it
for a ten million dollars payout, Anthony, But he was
top five thirty times out of one hundred and sixty
four starts, Anthony, Guys, that's a run. Don't let him
settle down. If he settles down on Sunday, he could

(13:55):
make a run at this to where we're talking about
him like Scottie. I mean, he it's very very good,
That's all there was to it. Nobody's had thirty top
five cent finishes No. One, So congratulations the Timmy. We
spoke about it two or three weeks ago, and he's
finally got it done, got it done at the perfect
time for ten million dollars. But still he is a

(14:16):
very good golf period, point blank. I don't want people
to look at that any other way than that, other
than uh oh, we may have a person that makes
a run, just like Scotty did win five or six
events two or three years in a row. That could
be Tommy Fleetwood. So I'm really looking forward to seeing everything.
The Ryder Cup is coming up. Best page Black, Anthony,

(14:38):
I'm waiting. Golf is good right now. It's really good.
So sorry about that, and I get pumped up about that,
even though I played so bad Thursday, Anthony, Anthony, like
you would say when you're small, I suck so bad.
I was so bad, God, Anthony, I gotta tell everybody.

(15:00):
He was on the au T. They were very good.
He's probably eight nine kien. After one of the games,
he looked at his mom and said, which suck and
you all did anything? You're pretty bad. You are the
bad news bearers.

Speaker 2 (15:13):
But anyway, I was telling, I was just telling the truth.

Speaker 1 (15:16):
I'm telling the truth. Thursday, I was so bad. I
wanted to sell my clubs, my bag, my shoes, the
thought of even playing golf. If I could have sold it,
I would have done that. Also. It's awful. God's hard,
But anyway, continue.

Speaker 2 (15:31):
No, of course, and obviously Stude's staking around that NFL realm.
Obviously we know that Sieorge Sanders is still on the team.
He's made the cut, but his brother on the Tampa
Bay Buccaneers was released this past weekend, along with a
couple other linemen as well. On the Tampa Bay Buccaneers,
we only got one Sanders left in the NFL. Hopefully
gets his opportunity. We'll just have to see, you know,

(15:52):
what's kind of going on with that situation. But football, that's.

Speaker 1 (15:57):
The way, Anthony. Most people get cut. Everybody to understand.
And they were going through it with Shador and going
through all the anthets. We were talking about, Anthony, most
people get cut. We went through that fifty three man roster.
Most people get cut. That's what people don't understand. Most
people don't make it. That's all there is to it.
That's why I want parents to understand and kids to understand.

(16:20):
That most kids don't make it. So it's so funny
how we're oh, Shiloh didn't make it doesn't surprise me.
Most don't make it. It that's all there is to it.
So I'm sure that he's young, he will continue trying
and best of luck. But I just want people to
understand most don't make it. So now let's get into

(16:43):
the Shador situation. There was a trade that happened yesterday
with the Browns, which we all knew was going to happen.
No football team is going to carry four quarterbacks, period,
point blank. Who did they trade Anthony? Who did the
Browns trade?

Speaker 2 (16:56):
They tried to Kenny Pickett to the Raiders for a
fifth round pick, similar round on which the Door was
taking as well. So I thought I was I thought
that was a little bit funny and controversial at the
same time, but we all knew that. Yeah, they they
had a million quarterbacks. They had probably the deepest quarterback room.
And I'm not saying by skill, I'm just saying by
death had they had five. So it's kind of cut

(17:17):
it down a little bit. Between injuries. I didn't know
throughout the season their quarterback lineup is gonna change probably
ten different times. I'm gonna be completely honest, because we
all we all know, we all love Joe Flocko, but
Joe Flocko is just he's old. I mean, it's pretty
much a simple thing to come across it. He's old,
and he's he's like forty years old.

Speaker 1 (17:37):
He is forty, Anthony.

Speaker 2 (17:39):
He takes one big he takes one big lick. He's
on the sidelide for the rest of the season. And
I don't wish that upon him. But it's just kind
of the reality of the sports are playing.

Speaker 1 (17:47):
It's the nature of the business, Anthony. People are out
there hitting each other. That's all that The NFL is
not for long. It's a physical sport. They're running into
each other every play. He's forty years old. He won't
last the season. We know that. So Dylan Gabriel will
get his shot. Chad Or may get his shot. But
of course they kept two young quarterbacks before that reason.

(18:08):
We'll just have to wait and see. We don't want
Flacco to get hurt. But the bottom line is, guys,
they are hitting out there. That's all there is to it.
And no more of these guys that got cut, no
more of the guys that are trying to make the team.
You got the best of the best out there. Now,
that's all there is to it, the best of the best.
So we'll have to wait and see. Most people this

(18:29):
whole Cleveland Brown, we knew one was going to be traded, Anthony.
We all knew that. Anyone that knew sports knew that.
But here's the deal, so everybody will understand on this
quarterback thing that I always tell people, Since two thousand, Anthony,
since two thousand, the sixty quarterbacks that were drafted in

(18:51):
the first round, since two thousand, twenty four years ago,
got me sixty first round quarterbacks, thirty of them for
their second contracts with it another team. Let me say
that to them, you again, that they were not successful
where they were. Their second opportunity came with another team.

(19:12):
That's all the first rounders. It's a very difficult position
to play, especially in the NFL. That's all. There's the defenders.
The defenses are highly technical. You have to know what
you're doing. Those guys, Tom Brady's, Aaron Rodgers, you've got
any guys, I mean the Warren Moons of the old days,

(19:33):
Joe Montana's those I mean the guys that passed for
tons of yards, Steve Young, they were very, very very
good because the Mark Clayton's Anthony, because they were getting
physically assaulted out there. Legally, they've changed the rules now.
I want people to understand all the wide receivers, my man,
Mark Clayton can't get in Hall of Fame. That's just
bull because I'm telling you, when Mark played, they could

(19:55):
knock his head off. Legally, Anthony, knock it off. There
wasn't no unprotected receiver. It's a different game now, but
the sport is still a violent, physical sport. And fifty
of the quarterbacks that have been drafted signed their second
contract from another team. So when we're talking about Josh

(20:15):
Allen and Lamar Jackson and Burroughs and Patrick Mahomes, those
guys are good guys. They're really, really, really really good.
Dak Prescott, that's really good. He shouldn't be the highest
paid quarterback, but I like DK. He's really accomplished a lot.
Come on, I never thought he'd be this good. Anthony
Missippi State ever, no one did you have to give

(20:37):
that man credit for that? Because nothing is free in
the NFL. Nothing, But the bottom line is most quarterbacks
aren't successful hard heart position, so I wish Shador the best.
He played well the first game, Anthony, he looked like
a rookie fifth round pick. In the third exhibition game,
his second game play it happens, but at that position,

(20:59):
most don't make so again, I wouldn't when people are
if Chador doesn't make it, it's not a big surprise.
Most don't. Tough position. That's all there is to it.
Very very tough position when you're trying to play the
quarterback position in the NFL the best of the best,
that's all. So we're at seven twenty nine. We'll get back,

(21:19):
we'll finish with our national news, and we're gonna get
into this acc because I'm telling you guys, they've got
big games coming up in football. I'm gonna let you
announce what happened to Stanford, which you said was gonna
happen two weeks ago. We're gonna talk about that after
the break. It's seven twenty nine is E sports radio

(21:40):
phone numbers five year O two, five seventy nine hundred.
Get your scores in. You've got Texas, Ohio State, Louisville,
Eastern Kentucky, Kentucky Toledo, which is only a seven point spread,
seven and a half point spread yesterday's career Journal. And
we've got Brandon. We'll get to him after the break
and l you Clemson, so Brandon will get to you

(22:02):
after the break. Hold on Esworts Radio will be back.
Welcome back to Eastports Radio seven thirty three. Let's get
to our caller right away, Shannon. Welcome to the show.
How are you, Brandon good?

Speaker 2 (22:16):
I'm about to sell.

Speaker 1 (22:17):
Brandon, I am excellent. How about yourself today? Traveling out
there safely?

Speaker 2 (22:22):
Hey, God woke me up. It's all good.

Speaker 1 (22:25):
It's all good. I didn't stick my friend in my
nose this time. My alarm did wake me up. But
it's all good. Well, let's get to it. As you
will know, the game of the week is Texas Ole State. Okay,
that's the game that the closest actual score will win.
If there's a tie, everybody's four oh which could happen
this week. So we're gonna start with that game. Who

(22:46):
you're taking to Texas Ohio State?

Speaker 2 (22:50):
Give me the home team. I'll take Ohio State.

Speaker 1 (22:53):
Okay, I need you score. You got to give me a.

Speaker 2 (22:54):
Score twenty seven to twenty.

Speaker 1 (22:58):
Okay, State twenty seven, Texas twenty. Are you gonna gamble
against me before we go to the other games or not.

Speaker 2 (23:06):
I'm already standing bush.

Speaker 1 (23:09):
Okay, let's let's get with it. Then I'm going to take.
Of course, I'm gonna go the that's forty seven points.
I took the score. Godlee made it tough on, Yeah
you did. I'm taking the I'm taking twenty eight twenty.
I'm taking over. God, it's forty eight points. God, that's
a lot of points for first game. I'm taking forty

(23:31):
eight four. Got you. Let's go Louisville. E k U
not even on the card. Give you the card, give me,
give me the card.

Speaker 2 (23:40):
I'll go sixty three to seven.

Speaker 1 (23:43):
Okay, you might be close. Kentucky Toledo seven and a
half point spread.

Speaker 2 (23:51):
Give me the Rockets. They call them in there and
they upset the Cat.

Speaker 1 (23:57):
Absolutely, what's the score.

Speaker 2 (24:00):
I'm gonna go twenty seven to twenty again.

Speaker 1 (24:04):
Okay, you don't believe in Cancardosa. You don't believe any I.

Speaker 2 (24:10):
Don't believe in the cat at all. The cats could
be calling you mail, and I'm taking mail.

Speaker 1 (24:14):
Probably, Well, there you go, there you go? All right?
Then I'm taking Kentucky, though I think Kentucky wins this one.
So I'm gonna go to next week's oh Miss game.
L USU Clemson, give me the Tigers? Can I do that? No?
God like he thinks he slitch which Tiger?

Speaker 2 (24:39):
Give me Clemson.

Speaker 1 (24:40):
Let's go with Clemson at home home to what's that score? Uh?

Speaker 2 (24:45):
Let's go, oh Man thirty one to twenty four.

Speaker 1 (24:50):
Okay, and we're gonna talk about this acc start after this.
But we've got your scores. I appreciate you calling now
you Oh, you can text them in or you can
call every week. But the person that is the most consistent,
let's say I have three people. Let's say we have
ten people that do all fourteen or fifteen games. Okay,

(25:11):
whichever the number is. The person that wins the most
will win. But let's say there's a person that does
eleven contests but has more wins, he does not win.
The person that is the most consistent because the esports
radio texts j L E S five five five will
have a chance to win five hundred dollars. No competition
against myself. It's only the person that wins the most

(25:32):
that's the most consistent. So Brandon, I appreciate you all listening.
I love everybody that listens to the show. You have
a lot of shows you can listened to. Thank you
for listening to mine.

Speaker 2 (25:42):
God blod thank.

Speaker 1 (25:44):
You so Anthony, that was funny, though, I'll take the Tigers.
That was pretty good. So Andy, let's do it back
to you National News. Let's finish it up before we
start to get into my games and get into this
sacc What else do you have, Natalie for me?

Speaker 2 (26:02):
What we got tomes of stuff? A National News. We
can go a million different directions. Obviously, Texas is gonna
be upset in Ohio State this weekend, so everybody go
ahead and play your bets in on there. If you
lose or I didn't tell you to do it, so that's
on you. But I will say that Texas has a
little advantage when it comes to that quarterback position. We
gotta in this realm for two young quarterbacks. Texas actually

(26:22):
has a little bit of veteran leadership on this one.
So I think Texas, even me, even though we're the
number one team in the country, is still the favorite
with arch manding over Sayers, who is a freshman red shirt.
I think that has potential upside obviously great in the
Big Ten, they can still make a push for the
College Football playoffs in the College Football Championship. I'm just

(26:44):
going off of what I've seen, and this goes in
a big realm, not outside of just the Ohio State quarterback.
It even falls in the same category for the U
of L quarterback. The same thing how I feel about
Miller Moss is just I just haven't seen enough. Now's
the only reason why I'm a little fifty to fifty
young ULCs and I know we've talked about it one
hundred times. The first week one won't be much of
a test because they're playing ek Eku fans. I'm sorry,

(27:06):
it's just it's a high school team.

Speaker 1 (27:09):
They're taking the money. No, they're taking them. I've been
there before, Anthony. They're taking to fund their program, absolutely.

Speaker 2 (27:16):
And it's gonna be a test where a lot of
people are gonna start getting rattled and have second opinions
because the Kentucky game versus Toledo could be a lot
closer than obviously the U of L the EKU game,
and it's gonna our point being as too well. U
of L might be looking better than the UK, but
UK strength of schedule is ten times harder than U
of L's. It's kind of hard to compare these two
teams when it comes to that aspect, except when they

(27:37):
play each other in the last game of the season
because of what they go through up a gatland between
the SEC and the ACC. But I even said it
two years ago and even last year, when Kentucky has
losing seasons like that and they come and they play
U of L, even at home or on the road,
it's hard for them to be all the way locked in.
A lot of the guys are already opting out because
they're not eligible for ball games, they're getting ready for

(27:59):
the draft, they don't want to get injured, and it's
hard to just go from losing six, seven, eight, nine
games in the season to come out there and be like,
we just want to bet U of L. This is
going to really top the season off right there, going
four to nine and beating a UFL team, it just
doesn't hold a lot of weight. I mean, yes, you
beat them, but I said a lot of them were
mentally checked out last year, and we kind of saw their.

Speaker 1 (28:20):
Performance last year. They had checked out. Everybody knows yes,
there's no question that the Kentucky players had checked out.
We had gone, we went to the game. There was
no question about that. The year before, though, Anthony, when
everyone thought Louis was going to roll, I told them
at LNN Stadium, Kentucky was gonna win. And everyone got
mad at me in the pressroom. Not mad. We're having fun.

(28:41):
But I taped them, Anthony, I taped all this rig Bositch,
Jim Sullivan. Everyone told me, mister Polio. Everyone told me,
no way. I said, okay, it's a difference between the
schedules that they play. And here's the deal, Anthony, right now,
with this ACC, I want would understand. It's imperative. You

(29:02):
said three weeks ago, two and a half weeks ago,
that cal that Stanford going out to Hawaii could get upset,
well load and bold, Anthony, did you call that correct?
I watched the entire game, Anthy. I wanted to see
the level of competition at the lower end of the ACC.

(29:22):
I wanted to see it. And again, Hawaii had a
red shirt freshman, Anthony starter, and they beat Stanford. Stanford's awful.
That's just all there is to it. They're awful. They're
a bad football team. I know Lux trying to do
what he has to do, but they're really, really, really bad,
so you caught it out. That was a tough loss

(29:44):
for the conference. This is what I try to tell people.
When your lower end loses to non Power four or
five conference teams, it really affects your strength of schedule.
It hurts when Louisville goes out to California and beats
some third five. We say we kill Stafford. He's supposed to.
They're high school team. I'm sorry. So now, huge weekend

(30:06):
for this ACC. Huge weekend, a lot of major games.
One is the Syracuse Tennessee game. Syracuse at Tennessee. All
I want to see them do, Anthony, they have to
play Tennessee. Well, they don't have to win that game,
but they can't be a rout. As long as this

(30:28):
is a competitive game, that will help the ACEC. But
it can't be a rout. Can't be twenty four to six,
thirty one to ten, that's around. It has to be
a competitive ball game, not a win. I do not
expect Syracuse to defeat Tennessee, nor does all the gambling
bodies in Vegas or people that are just rating these

(30:48):
games at the end of the season. But it would
help the ACEC if they are competitive. Alabama ranked eighth
at Florida State Hue huge game for the ACC. I'm
not saying Florida State has to win the game, but
they must be competitive at home. They must be They

(31:09):
must be competitive, they must come fourth quarter just like
the Hawaii game at Stanford. It has to be a
one possession game and Florida State has to be trying
to make a push at it to win it. They
just do. They can't get be fourteen seventeen points. They
just can't. That's a reflection on the league, which guys,
we're all talking about how many teams can get into

(31:30):
college football playoffs, and if your league is bad, it's
going to get absorbed by other leagues. They're going to
cherry pick the good teams and a lot of teams
are going to get left out. I'm just telling you
it's imperative that the AEC plays well. So that's another
game this weekend that we'll get to evaluate if the
ACC is improved from last year. The huge game LSU Clemson,

(31:54):
come on, guys, number nine, LSU, number four Clemson. Clemson
is supposed to a k push at it. Devil Sweeney's
team is supposed to be ready. They have won it twice.
Devil Sweeney is a top four coach. I don't have
to like him personally, but he does an excellent job
with his team. This is a game they must win,

(32:14):
not play it close. They must beat LSU and Chip
Kelly at LSU, I think they've lost every home game
since it's been there opening game, excuse me opening since.

Speaker 2 (32:24):
Twenty nineteen with Joe Burrows. They've lost last exactly almost
six years. So Clemson's got good odds in this one,
going and going, going on the road.

Speaker 1 (32:32):
No, and ellis she was going to Clemson. LSU is
going to Clemson.

Speaker 2 (32:36):
That's why go ahead and Clemson K club, Dick.

Speaker 1 (32:40):
K club, Anthony. I hate to tell you I'm leaning
toward LSU. I'm gonna get people in my prediction on Friday.
I'm leaning toward LSU. I just like the strength. I
like LSU placing a temperate conference. But that's it again.
Last year, Anthony, do not forget I took South Carolina
over Clemson. South Carolina beat them again. But South Carolina's quality,
they're really good. That's not a stop anymore.

Speaker 2 (33:03):
We're not gonna sit there and we're not gonna sit
there knocked like Lenanda Sours.

Speaker 1 (33:07):
No, I'm quarterback.

Speaker 2 (33:10):
He is top quality's Anthony.

Speaker 1 (33:13):
South Carolina's good again. They're back. So but I took
South Carolina last year, so I'm holding I'm reserved on
this l s U Clemson, leaning toward Clemson, but I
may take Lash. And then the last game for the
a CEC Notre Dame, number six in the country against
number ten Miami at Miami, Anthony, this is a huge

(33:36):
week for the ACC. They've got to win two of
these games, Anthony. If they don't all the wins that
I was talking about, Louisville upsets Miami. If Miami has
lost the game or two before Louisville goes to play them,
it's not upset. It hurts the conference. The ACC needs
the ACC to be good. So on Monday, Tuesday, excuse me,

(33:57):
Labor Day, we're gonna be talking about this. We're are
we be talking about what did the ACC do in
the preseason offseason transfer portal to improve their chances to
be a good quality football conference again? Only way so
with you, Miller Moss, Anthony, I remember the game, I

(34:17):
said right here in the same chime in now, watching
him throw six touchdowns against the Louispool, maybe seven. There
was no defense. I heard coach brom yesterday on television
speaking about the defense has improved last year they had
Anthony Tyler. Shuck is a pro quarterback. I didn't say
he's good. I think he's got a chance to be

(34:39):
a starter. I think Spencer Ratler gets the nod. But
it's just that close in that battle down there with
the Saints. I don't know if Miller Moss is a
pro quarterback anthety I just don't. Jake plumber Jack Portal
was a pro quarterback Anthony. So is Louisville going to
be fortunate enough to every year go to the transfer

(34:59):
port and get a pro quarterback. Let's hope so. But
if not. If not, we'll have to wait and see. Defensively,
will louis will be able to outscore people. I love
their running back corps. They've got two of the best
running backs in the country bar no. But you're still
gonna have to keep people honest. And Miler Malls he's
got a to throw that away. He's a turnover, turnable

(35:22):
and happy.

Speaker 2 (35:23):
Yeah, well, he's got options this year, He's got a
couple of good receivers. U of L's actually got one
of the best cornerbacks in college football this year, So
there's pieces around there to help him be successful. Louisville
over the last couple of years has been a reputation
showing that we can win games with transfer quarterbacks and
coming in through n I L deals building solid course,
we have been more successful in Kentucky when it comes

(35:45):
to the n I L sector of college football.

Speaker 1 (35:51):
But what we say that in LOUIVI was in the
SEC and that's a home. That's but what if they
had to find out George LSU South Carolina.

Speaker 2 (36:02):
I mean the same time, the recruiting caliber would be
different too.

Speaker 1 (36:07):
There you go, Okay, I agree with that.

Speaker 2 (36:08):
You recruited you retreating.

Speaker 1 (36:15):
That's so true. Let's get to our last break. That's
a great point, Anthony, that is true. It's seven forty
eight from get to our last break. Get your score in.
You got a chance to win fifty dollars out of
the briars bush seventy five dollars if you get in
the bush. Is it Eastports Radio. We'll talk to you
all in a minute. Welcome back to these sports radio Shinnon.
Is that young son of mine going he has to

(36:36):
get to work at eight? He said, there, Anthony, quick
question until you have to go. Before you have to go, Anthony,
and I'm going to get into this fifty three man roster.
You watched, I watched the beginning, you watched the end.
What do you think of Venus Williams? She tried, anthy,
she tried, yes, we're all.

Speaker 2 (36:54):
You know when you're when you're forty five years old,
been out of retirement for such a short stint, that's
all you can for to take it to a game
three against the top opponent. It is still impressive.

Speaker 1 (37:07):
There you go, boy, you're killing the cats, killing the cat.

Speaker 2 (37:12):
See I did. I don't I get to kill the
Cats a little bit more just because they played my
team this year. So everybody was hating on me for
being a Texas fan. When Texans comes to Lectington, I
promise you I will be there if you don't have
to worry about, oh, we think he's gonna be here.
I will be there one hundred percent. When I tell you,
I'm showing up in burnt orange with the horns on me.

(37:35):
Don't ask me. Don't ask me why I got this
shirt on. I am a UK fan and you already
know that. Do I like going to the UK Games? Yes,
I love. I will say this as much as I
give the Cats crap. I love going to the UK Games.
I will say that because one the SEC lifestyle SEC
games are ten times better than the SEC I mean
a SEC and the atmosphere is better. Now, I won't

(38:00):
say the games are always that competitive, at least not
not against Kentucky.

Speaker 3 (38:04):
But they do play teams that at least bring me
to the stadium and gets you excited. They play Ole
Missing week two, they play Texas, they played Tennessee back
to back weeks, they played Georgia's, they played teams work.
You know, even if you take even if Kentucky goes
out there and loses about thirty points, at least they
played somebody worth watching number once UFL wins six, win
by sixty points, and they're playing Kannesaw State.

Speaker 2 (38:24):
I'm just gonna be completely honest. That's the only reason
why it's hard for me sometimes to take U of
L serious when it comes to that aspect. And I
know that they don't have to say and who they're scheduling,
but still it's not so bad. When you got Stanford
losing to Hawaii at Hawaii, I paid game.

Speaker 1 (38:43):
That you lose.

Speaker 2 (38:44):
And if the team that probably won't win six games
this year is embarrassing, no.

Speaker 1 (38:48):
Anything, it's important that the ACC is good. I agree
with you. I'm the one who's talking about the a
CEC and since the great days Watson Lamar, James Winston. No,
they have to improve it. They just can't continue this path.
They can't. I agree with you one hundred percent. The
league must improve. And last weekend was awful. Stanford going

(39:11):
to our WII losing is an embarrassment.

Speaker 2 (39:13):
It is.

Speaker 1 (39:14):
It's very hard to evaluate how good your team really
is when your league is not competitive. People get mad
at me, but it's again last year, right, jumping up
and down. Everybody thought that South Carolina was kind of
a flut. Kentucky last year, weren't sure Beamur's team was good. Man,
come on, we see what happened. Let's do a thing.

Speaker 2 (39:34):
Though. I understand the conference isn't that great, but you've
gotta at least throw one ranked game in the non conference.
You can't play a bunch of teams that are barely
FDN teams. That's the only thing that bothers me. I
know you'll make a schedule, but you can schedule one
rank non conference opponent. I'm not going to that. You
can schedule one. You can go out there and play
a Notre Dame. You could go out there and play
in Mississippi State, an old mission, and.

Speaker 1 (39:55):
Then let's play Notre Dame. Yes it's loid, let's play
Notre Dame. Yah.

Speaker 2 (39:59):
But I what's been what's been the what has been
the result? Every time they played Notre Dame.

Speaker 1 (40:06):
At lost? No, they and they got Notre Dame two
years ago, two years ago, and I'm not talking about.

Speaker 2 (40:18):
Dame.

Speaker 1 (40:18):
They almost almost had Notre Dame at home last year.

Speaker 2 (40:21):
They almost did a big, big it's a big word
you're throwing in it.

Speaker 1 (40:27):
No, but last year it was a competitive game. But
Notre Dame got that game. Two years ago, Louisville got
him almost.

Speaker 2 (40:34):
That's like saying Kentucky almost won the game last season
the season around.

Speaker 1 (40:38):
I was at the Louisville game when uh, come on,
Reggie Bonaffin went to Notre Dame and beat them. I
was at that game. Only Notre Dame game I've ever
gone to Antony, and Louisville beat them. Reggie Bonfield was
the certain quarterback. So again, Anthony, I don't love Notre Dame,
so don't get it twisted, guys. Notre Dame. I think
they get to cherry pick. Also, but Freeman is not

(41:00):
a good job of that team. We're gonna watch him.
They did get into the playoffs last year, won a game,
so congratulations. But now you're talking about the conference one
hundred percent. The league has to improve football lives. It does.
I don't know what they're going to do about it.
The commissioner has already said it directly to everyone. We
must improve. They mustn't. It's imperative. It's about money. This

(41:24):
isn't about bragging rights between Kentucky and Louisville. This is
straight about money and everything. Now that you have to
pay the players, the coaches are still being paid, They're
still building buildings and monuments. Guys, money is important now
in college athletics, your league must be good. There's gonna
be pressure. Why do you think Clemson and Florida State
were trying to get out Anthony for one reason only

(41:47):
because they want the league to be more competitive? So
they can make more money. If not, they're looking to
get out. If I know, well, they're so bad, but
let's just see. And if they don't bounce back this year,
he's gone. He has to abbe, he'll be out of
Florida state. Easworts Radio aning, we'll be back tomorrow. You'll
have a fantastic day. It's a beautiful outside. If you

(42:09):
don't have a smile on your face, you're not fully dressed.
