Speaker 1 (00:01):
Welcome back to Eve's Sports Radio. September eighteen, twenty twenty five.
Can you believe it? It's September eighteenth, twenty twenty five, Thursday.
If you did not know, Yes, we're past time day.
We're one day from the weekend. For people that work
Monday through Friday, we're one day from the weekend. So
(00:21):
tomorrow you'll be able to say, thank God it's Friday
for people like myself, who's in every post office in
America for stealing a living. For gote almost what forty
three years now, forty four years, I've been in every
post office in America. What a way to make a
living through sports? Anyway, welcome back to the show. The
(00:44):
phone number is and you've got to get your stall.
Your scores in five zero two five to seven to
one seventy nine hundred five zero two five seven one
seventy nine hundred. I've got Lehman behind the glass. Shannon's
out today, Solimen. Thank you for sitting in with me.
We'll definitely get to you and your rids. I don't
(01:04):
let very many people talk about the reds Leman because
they bring them bad luck. But we're going to let
you discuss them a little bit today, But thank you
for sitting in with me, coming in all the way
from Cincinnati to host my show. And last but not least,
it's is Sports Talk seven ninety KRD. So now that
we've got the business out of the way, let's start
(01:26):
with the first topic of the day. If you did
not know, but September eighteenth is the day that all
universities charities. It's called give for Good. And of course
I'm pitching to you all. I pitch a lot of things,
(01:48):
but I'm pitching to you all give for good for
Simmons College of Kentucky. It's critical. Of course, all charities
need your giving. I've said it before and I'll say
it again. My dad taught me a long time ago.
Charity starts at home. But when you can and do
have the ability to give, this is the day. All
(02:13):
charities are out there. If you go to give g
I V E four f O R Good, g O
D Louisville dot org RG, it will come up and
you will see all quite a few charities you have
to select. It's your choice. I'm hoping that anyone that
(02:34):
does have an extra nickel, and I mean a nickel
ten dollars, twenty five dollars, fifty dollars. It doesn't take
a millionaire to help. That's a misconception. There are more
of us than them, and twenty five dollars can really help.
So if you can, if you could give the sevens
cousept Kentucky today, give for Good Louisville dot org. And
(02:57):
there are quite a few charities that you can give
to twenty dollars to this one, twenty to this one.
That's what I do Christmas time. I'll give honestly, fifty
dollars to numerous charities. I don't give it to one.
I don't give a ton totality. I give a decent
amount of money, but you don't have to give it
all to one. But please, if you can give it
(03:19):
is today, that is for all of them. That is Spauting,
that is the community college. There's a community to college.
That is Bellaman, that is Louisville. That is Kentucky. That's
Eastern and Western. All of the charities you can give, crusades,
you can give, they're all there. It's called give good
(03:41):
dot org. Today. Today is a huge day. Last year,
I think Simmons we raised around one hundred one hundred
and four thousand dollars. So we're trying to break one
hundred and twenty thousand dollars mark this year. So if
you can help us, I would truly appreciate it. But
it's called give for Good Louisville dot org. You can
give to numerous charities. All of us need the help. Period.
(04:04):
Now now we've gotten that put to bed, and I
will do that at the end of the show. Also,
everyone doesn't listen to the entire show. So second piece
of business is that we know that Simmons College High
School game day. We're doing another show tomorrow. It's our
second football ever. Last week we're on the Shiny football field,
(04:28):
magnificent football field, heat and air conditioned press box. Didn't
help thee with the game much. Central did forty nine
to zero. They blanked the Eagles last week. But that's okay, Shiny,
just keep trying. That's all that matters. Young kids. Go
back to practice, go back to work, and continue to work.
(04:49):
That's what sports is about. Now, who's going to go
to the Division one program, Who's going to be the
McDonald's All American. It's the person that just continues to
strive and works we'll be doing our second of course,
we're going back to Ballard Nation. You all understand that's
my preference, that's my school. I'm looking right now to
(05:09):
the right. I'm in my basement, and I've got introduction
into the Kentucky High School Basketball Hall of Fame. It's
got Jerry EA's it's really nice. But it's just got
numerous Ballard pictures. It's got a picture of the school.
It's got a picture of me playing at Ballad. It's
got our team photo at Ballard we won the state championship.
(05:31):
It's really nice. So everyone understands where my heart lies.
It is what it is. There's not a better time period,
point blank than your high school years. That's all there
is to it. There's not a better time in your life.
So enjoy them. But yes, we've got Fern Creek, the
Creakers are coming to Ballard tomorrow at seven point thirty,
(05:53):
and we will be having the Simmons College High School
Game day tomorrow at Ballad High School. So that's where
we'll be tomorrow. Now everyone knows that needs to get
your scores in today, I've got to make a correction,
which I'm going to do before I move on to
that though. Tomorrow I have on Coach King, the football coach,
Chris Kenny, the athletic director, Jason News, who has been
(06:15):
on with me numerous times. It's the principal. We'll all
be on tomorrow ballot finding out what's going on new
with the sports program and the schools. It's important that
you all find out and hear about what's going on
at the schools academically, socially, what's going on with the
students and our school systems. We don't ever get the
good news out, as George Williams says, we're always promoting
(06:38):
the bad news, bad news sales. I understand that we're
doing this eleven years now. They're hot topics. It's passionate,
it gets people's attention. But sometimes we just have to
find out the mundane things that are happening. So we're
going to do that also with Jason News to Principal tomorrow.
About now jump into the meat and the potatoes the show.
(07:04):
I got a correction and then funny that Greg my
very first caller, who picked Oklahoma Auburn game. Okay, he
gives me the score twenty eight twenty one. Yes, Mary
deposited her check, and I hate to tell you, Brandon
should be getting his check today or tomorrow. He doubled
(07:25):
me up. He made money on me, which really hurt me.
But Greg, I'm not gonna let this happen. I was
looking at all the numbers last night because numerous people
sent it to my email on text, so I was
filling it in. Those numerous people were sleepless. We all
know Florida State fan James. We all know my roommate
(07:46):
who did gamble. I ran away at Churchill Downs and
Charlie sent me theres So as I was putting them in,
I noticed that my wife picked twenty eight to twenty
one olls. So Greg, letting you know I've already caught
the mistake. I'm going to have her change hers today.
(08:08):
So I'm just letting you know I've already caught it.
You had twenty eight twenty eight one first, you had
Oklahoma twenty eight, Auburn twenty one. You were my first caller.
My wife duplicated your numbers, so she will be changing hers.
I just wanted to try to know that. But the
games before we get to my first break, because we
do have Lee Sterling understand today Phone number five zero two,
(08:32):
five one seventy nine hundred. Get them in now, because
at seven point forty we have leon and I will
not be taking calls. The games are Auburn at Oklahoma,
that's the money game. We have got Florida at Miami,
Bowling Green at Louisville, Illinois at IU. Those are the
(08:55):
games again, money game, Auburn at Oklahoma. That's when it counts.
Phone numbers five zero two, five seven, one seventy nine hundred.
We're already at seven fourteen. How quickly this goes? When
we come back. I was able to touch it, but
I'm going to touch it a little bit about the
Shudor Sanders situation with the Cleveland Browns and what came
(09:17):
out on Sunday, Monday or Tuesday with the Baltimore Ravens
when they reported that the Ravens we're going to also
want it to draft him in the fifth round. And
I've heard and listened to all of the talking heads.
I'm going to give you a personal perspective after the break.
This is the Sports Radio seven fifteen. Phone numbers five
zero two, five seven one seventy nine hundred. We'll talk
(09:40):
to you in a minute. Talk to you see you then,
welcome back to the sports radio seven to nineteen. I've
got three people on the line, phone numbers five zero two.
Excuse me for my voice, five seventy nine hundred. I'm
coming to you first. But Leiman, you're still wrong. We're
arguing about the Reds and Leiman, who knows more baseball
than I ever did. But the bottom line is Frank
(10:01):
ConA is teaching them get singles and try to score runs.
And you disagree with that, right or wrong? William I
I disagree because if you hit, if you have one
hit and it's a home run, you score more runs.
Speaker 2 (10:12):
And if you have five hits and bring nobody.
Speaker 1 (10:14):
In, that's just because the last game they had eight hits,
no runs, and you're upset about it. Yeah, for the
right way to play. I know, three home runs. We
have to stop giving up home runs. But we're still
two games out one last night, two games out with
tend to go. Frank ConA has done a great job.
I'm not knocking Bill, but friend ConA, first year, you
(10:36):
must give him credit. They're five hundred we tend to go.
Come on, now, don't be that hard on him. I
give him a little I mean he's a great manager
ten years ago. Oh my gosh, you're brutal. You're brutal.
You believe and you are brutal. Guys. You all just
so hard on the reds. Marty. Welcome to the sports ready,
how are you?
Speaker 3 (10:57):
How are you doing this morning?
Speaker 1 (10:59):
Jarry cannot complain. I know you're trying to get some
of this money.
Speaker 3 (11:03):
I see, yes, sir, I'm not gonna be like the
briar Port. Uh was it the brawler?
Speaker 1 (11:13):
The brawler? Yeah, you're not getting in the bush. I
mean no bush, no.
Speaker 3 (11:19):
No, no, it's still frippery in there. Man, I don't
know how.
Speaker 1 (11:26):
Ye okay, he got me from double pay. When you
receive that money, Brandon, you must call it. Let everyone
know you have a check from the sports radio and
it will not bounce. Let's get to it. We've got
Oklahoma over. That is the money game, all right, all right?
Speaker 3 (11:45):
I got Oklahoma twenty two, Auburn fourteen.
Speaker 1 (11:49):
Okay, you're good with that one. That's the lowest so far. Miami,
Florida at Miami.
Speaker 3 (11:57):
I got Miami in twenty four, Florida twenty.
Speaker 1 (12:03):
You've got Bowling Green at Louisville.
Speaker 3 (12:06):
Uh, globil forty eight Lowland Green twelve.
Speaker 1 (12:12):
That's about right. Illinois at IU big game, really big
game number nine against the ding of twenty two Indiana
is favorite?
Speaker 3 (12:24):
Are your favorite?
Speaker 1 (12:26):
Yes? I use favorite five and a half points as
of two days ago.
Speaker 3 (12:32):
Well, you know I'm gonna let me clip this a
rail real quick. I'm gonna go AU twenty two Illinois
four two.
Speaker 1 (12:39):
Okay, I've got you. You're not gonna win anything. You
never do, you never will. You're not gonna win anything.
Just have a good day.
Speaker 3 (12:47):
Well you know I know where you live and I like.
Speaker 1 (12:50):
Mailm Oh god, I swear my poor mailbox has no chance. Bye,
let it bup. Let's get to Anthony. Anthony. Welcome to
the sports radio. How are you?
Speaker 4 (13:04):
I'm wonderful, sir. How are you?
Speaker 1 (13:06):
Anthony? I thought you had to win, Anthony, and I
thought i'd beat you, and I talked more junk and
I found out I lost, and I've had people sending
me messages. You talked thirty minutes down to Anthony, and
you lost the hundred bucks I did. So you got
your shot again? Are you gonna getting the Briars patch again?
Are you saying out? Okay? I thought you'd have since
(13:28):
you're a true football player at Kentucky, you wouldn't be
frightened of a cardinal to get in the patch. Even
though I did beat you last week, it was funny
I had you. I couldn't wait to talk junk to you.
The game that matters is Auburn at Oklahoma. Oklahoma's pretty
good at home. We know that.
Speaker 4 (13:47):
As much as I hate to pick Oklahoma, it's going
to be thirty one to twenty.
Speaker 1 (13:51):
Then thirty one twenty. Yes, no, very, that's very Oh,
I've got a thirty one. I've got a thirty two
twenty one. I already have thirty one twenty. You cannot
have that. I'm sorry. Okay, thirty two twenty, gotcha? Yeah,
sleepless sent in thirty one twenty last night? Are you
and you're getting in with me? Yes? Third, it's fifty
(14:16):
two points. Poo boy, boy, boy boy, I'm going the under.
I got thirty one, I've got you. I'll beat you again.
Let's go. I've never got at Miami, no doubt I'm
gonna win again.
Speaker 4 (14:33):
Florida at Miami, Florida is terrible. Uh, Miami will win
twenty four to twenty.
Speaker 1 (14:43):
Everybody thinks that Bill. The napier is playing. They're playing
for his job. That's all there is to it. If
they get demolished, Napier will lose his job on money
Bowling Green at Louisville.
Speaker 4 (14:54):
Forty eight seventeen.
Speaker 1 (14:56):
Louisville say, I love this kind. It's because it makes
people bet. Right. You had to pick my Cardinals because
you know they're gonna win. Tell me what they played when? Okay, okay,
when Louisville plays Kentucky, who you going to bet on them?
Speaker 2 (15:12):
Uh?
Speaker 4 (15:14):
I don't know who's playing the game.
Speaker 1 (15:16):
I'm not frightened. I'm picking the Cardinals. I don't care
who's playing. Oh, little chicken, little kitty cat.
Speaker 4 (15:24):
The team doesn't quit this year, you can't win.
Speaker 1 (15:28):
I don't want to hear all that instant, but we
know what that means. You've played athletics. If a frog
had wings, it wouldn't bump its. But you know that.
Speaker 4 (15:38):
I like, they don't have a star power, but they
fight hard, and that's all we can ask for right now.
Speaker 1 (15:44):
No, the oh, this game they played, well, honestly.
Speaker 4 (15:49):
They played they Yeah, they have the players that want
to fight, and that's I'm good with that.
Speaker 1 (15:55):
Okay, Yes, I mean, they played well. It's surprisingly they've
got a lot of good running after losing their top
running back with the issue with the sexual assault Willcock,
that has not been the weakness of the team. It's interesting.
They've got a lot of good running backs.
Speaker 4 (16:09):
So the reason I like Cutter Bowlie is because he
throws players open. He hit three or fourth rows last
week that he threw them open when they had tight coverage.
Speaker 1 (16:20):
No, No, the one to the tight end over the top.
You remember that he led him directly, that was one
of his head, that was one that was one of.
Speaker 4 (16:28):
Them, and then hardly throw him to the sideline where
he can create space. Those are throwing people open, and
that's what we haven't had.
Speaker 1 (16:35):
No. I agree, I agree. Let's go Illinois Indiana. Big
game for I U. I use favored as of two
days ago, Anthony, will you know you listen, I don't
know two days ago, five and a half. You're okay?
What's that score?
Speaker 4 (16:51):
Illinois thirty one twenty eight.
Speaker 1 (16:55):
Thirty one twenty eight? Got you and I've got your
brother appreciate you. How's it nobody doing with your good?
Speaker 4 (17:02):
Everybody's good, yes, sir, where kids are good. We're all
doing great, Yes, sir, how about you all you.
Speaker 1 (17:07):
And everything's good. God's good. Make sure you tell your
dad still should have sent you about it, but that's okay.
Speaker 2 (17:15):
I will.
Speaker 4 (17:15):
Yes, sir, you have a.
Speaker 2 (17:16):
Great weekend, you too, see you.
Speaker 1 (17:19):
Personal joke, guys, personal joke you, Oh can't? You don't
know everything anyway, Let's get Kevin on. Kevin, Welcome to
the sports radio.
Speaker 5 (17:27):
Good morning, I'm good.
Speaker 1 (17:30):
How are you doing today?
Speaker 5 (17:32):
Ah, it's Thursday, one day closer to where we want
to be.
Speaker 1 (17:37):
You're one of those guys. You're one of those guys
Monday through Friday. You're one of those guys.
Speaker 5 (17:41):
Wake up, wake up on Monday thinking about Friday.
Speaker 1 (17:48):
You know. To me, I only work Monday through Friday
one job in Dallas, Texas for about twent alf years, right,
and my favorite night was Thursday night because that was
the night and I started my weekend. I'm like, boy,
I'll just slop through. Don't say this out loud. I'd
slop through Friday, and then why I would relax for
the weekend. So I always started mine own good on Thursday.
Speaker 5 (18:12):
In the military, once they hit noon on Thursday at lunch,
I told him it's weekend. Prep and we need to
go on and get ready for it.
Speaker 1 (18:20):
Get ready, well, let's get ready for these games. Are
you going to get the Briars Bush with me?
Speaker 5 (18:26):
What have I got to lose?
Speaker 1 (18:29):
Exactly? It's free money.
Speaker 5 (18:31):
I don't have anything yet, so I might as well
go ahead.
Speaker 3 (18:34):
Yeah, I get there, you go.
Speaker 1 (18:36):
Okay, Oklahoma is the favorite, of course, Auburn and Oklahoma.
Where are you going with?
Speaker 5 (18:44):
I'll go with Oklahoma thirty one twenty two, even though
you know Jackson Owll is coming back. Maybe he's gonna
try and prove a point.
Speaker 1 (18:52):
But yes, let me see, I've got thirty one. Everybody
likes this, thirty one twenty boy, we've got twenty eight
twenty thirty one, twenty twenty two, fourteen thirty one. Ooh,
I've got two thirty one twenties. I've got to change
and let me see. No, that's mine. We're fine, We're fine.
I took the under on it. Gentlemen. Okay, you are good, Yes, Yes,
(19:16):
I have a Yes, you're good. I've got a thirty
twenty seven calvertovocom We're five all right? Then, let me
see you said thirty one twenty.
Speaker 5 (19:27):
Two, thirty two, oh thirty one, twenty.
Speaker 1 (19:32):
Two, thirty one, twenty two. I'm taking.
Speaker 5 (19:35):
You're taking about Briday too.
Speaker 1 (19:37):
I'm taking. I'm taking all these little numbers, trying to
keep up with them. I gotta change my wife's score
and the awful I looked last night and said, oops,
she already picked one, and I have them in order,
so it's easy when people send them to my phone,
I take them that way. Let's go to the next game,
Florida and Miami.
Speaker 3 (19:56):
Ah.
Speaker 5 (19:58):
Florida is pretty bad this year, but it's an interstate game,
so they may playing close. I'll go thirty to twelve Miami.
Speaker 1 (20:10):
Okay, Billy Napier has to show well his team or
he will lose his job. He's the head coach at Florida.
Speaker 3 (20:17):
Bowling Green at Louisville, yeah.
Speaker 2 (20:21):
I want to take.
Speaker 5 (20:24):
I'll take Louisville fifty two, Bowling Green seventeen.
Speaker 1 (20:30):
There you go, Illinois. I I think Louisville does break fifty,
not if they did not play poorly two weeks ago.
I think bron would pull back, but I think he's
gonna let him go on Bowling Green. I think they
break fifty and a half century mark for sure. Let's
go Illinois and Indiana huge game number nine against number
(20:50):
twenty two, No. Ten that was now ranked nineteen. Indiana's
ranked nineteen.
Speaker 5 (20:59):
Yeah, I'm not sure about them, but I'm going with
you and I'm gonna have them winning m thirty one
to twenty eight.
Speaker 1 (21:13):
Okay, I've got you, kidd, I've got you in thirty
one to twenty Oklahoma over Albert and I took the
over so Ken, I appreciate you. Man. Get this last
day done, and then tomorrow start to really play your weekend.
Do me a favorite before I go to break, take
me to break and say, go cards. Can you do that?
Speaker 5 (21:35):
I can do that, Born, and let's go with it.
Speaker 1 (21:39):
Let's go with it. Turns to break, Go Cards. Talk
you all after the break. Welcome back to EVE Sports
Radio seven thirty four. Help me a quick segment. We've
got to get to this Shitard Sanders. I'm gonna give
you all a personal perspective from Jason Whitlock to Stephen
A to probably eighty percent of the talking heads were
(22:03):
very critical of him not going to the Baltimore Ravens.
So let's just back this up first and foremost quickly.
Jason Whitlock not a friend of mine steven A, who
is a friend of mine. Both both said that Lamar
Jackson would never be a quarterback. Let's just understand. So
when we're listening to people, both publicly, I can run
(22:23):
the takes for you all day long. He would never
be Whitlock said, Lamar will never be a starting quarterback.
And then the mill you got me so now here
seven years later. What a great guy to learn from. Okay,
and I give you all that. You know, you don't
have to stand by what you said, but I'm with that.
Everybody makes a mistake, Okay. But the deal is this.
I came out in nineteen eighty two. The Balton Celtics
(22:46):
had the fifty third pick, which was a third round
pick at the time. It's a second round pick now.
And there was a high probability they were going to
take me. No, I did not tell them to take
me or not take me. I didn't have that kind
of control. They didn't ask me, got me. They didn't
ask me. But I did know the Utah Jazz were
(23:09):
going to take me with the fifty to fifth pick.
I knew that. They told me. I knew that got me.
So I'm sitting there pretty happy with the Utah Jazz.
Why because I had a better chance to make that roster.
I had a better chance to play. Okay, the Bolton
Celtics had Danny Ainge very good player, Dennis Johnson very
(23:30):
good player, Jerald Henderson very good player. They had three
top quality guards. Okay, maybe I could have been the
fourth guard. Maybe not. But the Utah Jazz had Ricky Green,
Daryl Griffith. They had Their third guard was Babey Duran.
He was a first round pick from Georgetown the same
year that Daryl Griffith came out. They took Daryl Griffith
(23:52):
and Baby Duran. But in my perspective, mine, I cannot
play Baby and Durham and I did. I beat Baby
out guaranteed contract. The third year of his guaranteed contract,
they cut him and kept Jerry Eves. I was hoping
I didn't get drafted by the Celtics. My good friend,
his name is Perry moss ll can go look at
(24:12):
the draft. Gets drafted fifty third to Boston, a six
foot one more of a scoring guard than a point
guard that I was. And Boston wanted more of a
scoring combo guard and they wanted a pure point guard.
They took Perry Moss, did not take Jerry Eves. Thank
you Lord. Perry Moss got cut, never played a day
(24:34):
in the NBA, never made the Celtics roster. He was
a good player in my opinion. He wasn't better than
I was, but he was a good player. I liked him.
I knew him well from Baltimore, played with him a
lot in the summer. I was lucky that Boston said
no to go say you're gonna sit behind Lamar the
(24:56):
only way anyone quarterback is gonna play at Baltimore for
the next five to seven years. As if Lamar Jackson
gets hurt period. Same thing with Josh Allen. I'm not
even gonna say Joe Burrow's my man. I hate that
because he's injury prone. I'm not gonna say his name,
but he's one of those. Also, Patrick Mahomes is one
of those. Also, why do you want to get drafted there?
(25:20):
If they don't get injured, which means you're hoping on
a dream, then dang it, you never play or I
go to Cleveland, which is I love Joe Flacco's Super
Bowl guy. Now, come on, I'm not knocking, but he's forty.
I'm not knocking, but the bottom line is he's forty
years old. If I had a choice between when I
(25:42):
go to Cleveland and fight for a position with Dylan Gabriel,
Joe Flycco, myself, I'll have gone to Cleveland. I'm just
telling you my personal perspective. Thank you Lord that the
Boston Celtics did not draft Jerry Eves and the Utah
Jazz did. Which one is a better friendranchise the Boston
Celtics by far. But guys, you gotta make the team.
(26:06):
You've gotta look and weigh your options. I had no choice. No,
I would have gone to Boston, been happiest I could be,
and I would have tried my heart out to make
the roster. But looking at it, I had a much
better chance of playing, which I did for the Utah Jazz.
So that's all I'm saying to you all before, we're
always jumping on the kid. So seven thirty eight, we
(26:28):
got leased early, We're gonna go to break. That's just
a personal what happened to me, And I'm so glad
I did not go fifty third to the Boston Celtics.
I'm just being honest with you and our first year
in Utah, we went thirty and fifty two. But I
got an opportunity to play second team all rookie things,
(26:49):
opportunity to play and prove I could play in the league.
New contract, made some money. Come on, guys, sometimes you're
talking heads. They don't know. It's all there is to it.
Easworts Radio. When we back, we'll have Lee with us.
Talk to you a minute. Welcome back to sports radio.
How quickly this thing flies by? I'm telling you one
(27:10):
hour does not last long? Seven We got the one
and only at leastarting on the line. Three and two
good week last week three in two in gambling. That's
worth people's money. We welcome to the show.
Speaker 2 (27:23):
How are you, brother, I'm good, I'm good. Can't complain
already We're in week four in college, Week three in
the NFL. It is flying by. So I just got
to sit back and sit back and enjoy it. So
uh yeah. Every week, I mean there's there's a couple
of games every single week where you're like, Wow, that's
(27:43):
that's what keeps you coming back, So uh enjoying, enjoying.
Speaker 1 (27:48):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (27:50):
Yeah, come on, Georgia Tense, I thought, wow, didn't you
think Tennessee had them.
Speaker 1 (27:55):
I did. I thought, Yeah, that five yard penlogy out
just hurt the kicker. Oh my gosh, I thought Tennessee.
Speaker 2 (28:03):
Comments to comments so on on games. Yeah, Kirby is
just that he's showing why he's probably the best coach
college football.
Speaker 1 (28:12):
Yes, yes, his team stay the course. They stay the course.
But I did think Tennessee had them. I think Josh
had Josh got you, oh Man. Great games. Honestly, though
this year's NFL college games great games. There have been
some exciting comments. So before we jump into go ahead,
(28:36):
go ahead, go ahead.
Speaker 2 (28:38):
I'm tired of the touch push. The toush push to
me is over. I think you should be allowed to
push a running back, you know, when he's being held
up by a couple of guys. Obviously I don't have
a problem with that, but the tush push. I mean
the Eagles running like like ten twelve times a game
or more.
Speaker 1 (28:57):
They do. Here's the deal.
Speaker 2 (28:59):
Two thousand if I had that, if I had that
as a quarterback, be the leading rusher my school thing.
Speaker 1 (29:06):
Absolutely no, I mean, honestly, two thousand and five, you
could not push or pull a running back. Then they
changed it because he said it was too hard to call.
Now we got the dish push where we see half
the teams behind the quarterback and all they do is
push the running back. So I don't know. I know
one thing I agree with when they showed on television
they must call when if that offensive line leaves early,
(29:29):
they've got to call it. And they left early twice
last week. No events or buds, they left early twice.
So now maybe they'll watch that to at least level
it out a little bit. That's all. So I'm agreement
with you. Tell me what do you think about Joe
Burrows before we jump into it. His injuries are playing
he was my last year's MVP. What do you think
(29:52):
do you think that he can stay upright for any
amount of time for cincinn Hey Bengals.
Speaker 2 (29:58):
He's just a certain guy, you know, just bad luck.
I don't think that he's you know, he's that brittle.
Yeah he's not that brittle, but no.
Speaker 1 (30:09):
You know, boy, he's a bad luck bad line. Yeah,
no offensive line for probably half of the time he's
been in the league, half of the seven years he's
been in no offensive line at all. But his injuries
are starting to pile up. He spends the ball as
good as Dann Marino though his ball looks godly, but
he just can't stay up right. So I'm kinda I'm
(30:31):
just wishing that he can get healthy. So let's get
into it. You got some great games this week, and
you were three and two last week? Can I give
you hard time? Sometimes you are three and two, So
let's go with it. Oklahoma. Yeah, all, that's the biggest
that's my game of the week. Tell me what happened?
Speaker 2 (30:49):
It is well, I mean there's also one coming up
in a couple of games. Will discuss to the Miami
Florida game pretty good too, But yeah, these two teams
are undefeated better than acted. Why new quarterbacks for Oklahoma
John Vittier. Now, I don't know what kind of pro
quarterback he may not even I'm pretty sure he's not
(31:10):
even gonna get drafted. He's not an NFL quarterback. But
or if he goes, he goes late. You know, they
look at size, you know all these other things. Armed,
But he's a really good college quarterback. I mean, he's
like Diego Pavia. He just moves his team. He wills
his team running, running, and throwing. And he's a leader,
and now he's at Oklahoma. They're a different team and Auburn,
(31:33):
I mean, you know, they get the old Oklahoma quarterback
and now he's coming back to play in Oklahoma. So
here's maybe the difference here in the edge Oklahoma, it's
at home. That's that's playing at home is Southeast Conference.
I mean almost every single place, even Mississippi State is
(31:54):
a tough place to play and friend bever defensive sake bills, yep. Yeah.
So so he probably has a really good idea on
what Jackson Arnold is all about, and he'll have some
bl blitz schemes that are the difference. And maybe they
(32:16):
have a little bit better you know, running game, and
Auburn had success against Baylor a little bit more not
by design broken plays. So I'm gonna take Oklahoma here.
I think they win and cover twenty.
Speaker 1 (32:32):
Gotcha now, So I'm telling you were talking about Vinables.
I think since he's left, we've seen the difference in Clemson.
People can say what they want, we can talk that
junk left. They're not the same Clemson is not the
same team. And I mean they're one and two the
point when the remainder of their games. But you know
that was a big loss. Let's get to the Duke inc.
(32:55):
State game. Don't know much about it either one of
these teams. When I saw it on your list, I'm like,
you educate me, tell me what's going on, pamp. I
saw a piece of kay last week, only a piece
of them.
Speaker 2 (33:07):
So NC State plays hard and as a FA as
a favorite, not good as an underdog. Much much better
they This is our second straight road game. They don't
have to travel very far at all, you know, eight
ten miles up the road. I think the problem here
is their defense, or suspect defense is going to fail them.
(33:30):
I always say you want players at each level. You
want to have a stud defensive line who can make
a sack or knock down a pass, a defensive linebacker
who can make a tackle let's say on a screenplay
or on a stretch running play before the sticks, and
a defensive back who can you know, defend pass or
you know, lock down one side so they have to
(33:52):
go to the other side. I don't think that they
have that. So they're allowing two hundred and ninety seven
passing yards per game. That's Duke's bread and butter. Darien
Mensa quarterbacks he's throwing for our thousand and thirty six yards,
eight touchdowns, two interceptions to three games, and Duke is
desperate coming off consecutive losses. I mean, they had to
(34:12):
play really good, underrated Illinois team who's really good offensive
and defensive lines, and they beat you up and they
warm out eventually. They've been also a little bit unlucky.
Lost five fumbles. That's a lot to lose in three games,
and that's something that the wolf Pack has yet to force,
not even one fumble. I like Duke here, wrong team
(34:35):
favored thirty eight twenty seven. The Dukies finally get off
the schneid here in a conference game and upset undefeated
NC State.
Speaker 1 (34:45):
Will you know more than I. I'm going to try
to watch some of that game. I just haven't seen
Duke at all, not one second this year.
Speaker 2 (34:53):
You'll enjoy watching this quarterback. He's good.
Speaker 1 (34:57):
Good Miami at Florida tu Lane.
Speaker 2 (35:00):
I don't know if you remember that he was at Tulane. Yes,
he was at two lane.
Speaker 1 (35:04):
I do not remember anything. Yes, and they were good
last year. I remember that exactly. Napier could be done
if they don't play well on Saturday. What's your opinion
on Billy Napier keeping his job with Florida and Miami
seems to be really good this year. Your team seems
to be really good.
Speaker 2 (35:21):
So I think Miami's good, really good. Top five. I
don't know if they're number one or not. I mean,
I was shocked at Danny Canell, former Florida State and
NFL quarterback, had them number one. He has a weekly
top five pole. He's not a Miami lover. He's a
Miami hater, so I understand the rivalry and everything. So
I was shocked when he had him number one. So
(35:43):
that's some respect there. But the problem for Florida State
is the right tackle is like a turnstile. The guy
literally he should almost lay down to slow down guys.
That's whatever he's doing is completely wrong. Miami's three or
four edge rushers are really good, so I think they're
(36:05):
gonna have to shorten the drops to a lot of
three and five step stuff. They can't do five step
drop backs these defensive ends. I mean, they might have
to call the ambulance by halftime. But I think Miami.
It's a rivalry game. They'll be twenty thousand Florida fans
of the sixty five thousand. Miami is a hotbed for
(36:27):
Florida grads and they got nothing to lose here. This
might be the game. I don't if you remember some
of the Miami Florida State games where Florida State would
try reverses or run one way and throw the ball
back to Dexter Carter and he'd run for a touchdown
against Miami to open the game. I think they're gonna
empty the playbook here Florida, and their defense hasn't been bad.
(36:48):
I mean it was the five interceptions they outplayed LSU.
You throw away those interceptions, so it's not gonna be
the moment too big for them. I think Miami wins
this game twenty seven to four, seven a half points
a lot a lot in the rivalry game, I think
Fida is either going to be in it right to
the end, or maybe they even get a backdoor touchdown.
They could be down ten ten points in Miami sits
(37:10):
in that prevent We've seen prevent a bunch of games.
Speaker 1 (37:13):
Last week and prevent all of it.
Speaker 2 (37:17):
All it usually does is make the team score in
three minutes as opposed to a minute and a half.
So I'll take I'll take Florida plus the points here yep.
Speaker 1 (37:28):
Okay, interesting Louisville Bolston Bowling Green. It's a route they're
running track meet right now. But what happens twenty six points?
That's a lot of points in a football game.
Speaker 2 (37:41):
It is, it is. So Bowling Green has surprisingly been
decent against the run. Gave up one thirty eight to
a decent Liberty team, one oh six to Cincinnati who's
under the radar, and in fifty nine to Lafia. So
that's their strength, and if that continues, I think they
(38:02):
can be competitive. Not big believer in Miller Moss, nice kid,
you know, sometimes looks good. Sometimes they'll throw a ball
or too high and kill a drill here they are
off to buy the Cardinals. So just maybe a little
too much to lay here. I haven't winning this game
thirty eight to seventeen. You know, if they put Louisville
(38:25):
in some third and six, third and eight situations, they
might get off the field a couple of times here,
So I think it's a little too high. Not yeah,
not one of my top players, but you know, we
got to do the Louisville game each week. So I'm
gonna hold my nose and things and take bowling green.
Speaker 1 (38:40):
Okay, yeah, yes we do now. Baltimore Ravens Detroit great game.
Last week's Baltimore Cleveland game was one of the weirdest
games I watched. Bottom line, Yeah, no, one's a bigger
fan of Lamar Jackson than I am. But I am
just a discipline of that team drives me nuts. And
(39:02):
that's the Ravens. Watching all the mistakes throughout the game
drives me nuts. I'm just I can't be comfortable with them.
Tell me what happens this.
Speaker 2 (39:11):
Detroit game got this should be another fun game here. Now,
Detroit has not played well on grass or their speed
team and Jamar Gibbs and obviously the receivers. These are
speed guys, so it slows them down a little bit here.
But you know, only the Bengals and Browns followed this
(39:33):
game here For Baltimore, the Lions are ten and two
though in their primetime games under Dan Campbell, and I
think they kind of got their mojo back in the
last game and their pass rush first game. They just
Green Bay just hit them from the beginning, punched them,
and sometimes you punch a team and it's just not
their day. Wasn't their day, didn't have a sack, had
(39:55):
three last week, looked good and probably the last team
with the ball wins. That's the case. You know, you're
laying six points, that's a lot.
Speaker 1 (40:05):
I don't know where to find you. I think I
hate to cut you off, but we're going shows it
happens to find.
Speaker 2 (40:12):
Yeah, go to Paramount Yeah, Paramount sports dot com. Yeah,
we're gonna go with Like I said on the last game,
Baltimore to win thirty to twenty eight, but Detroit covers.
You want to get involved, we have what's called the
Bakers does in thirteen games, ninety seven dollars. Paramount Sports
