Speaker 1 (00:00):
Short week.
Speaker 2 (00:00):
So Friday, what do you do Friday, Anthony?
Speaker 1 (00:04):
I have orientation Friday, so I'll be there at seven
thirty in the morning, so I might not be able
to catch the show Friday. There you go, just because
I gotta be there a little bit early too, So
pretty much this entire show I'll be missing.
Speaker 2 (00:16):
Out, that's all. Yep. Well, Friday's the first day of
the fire department, say Matthew's fire department. Correct, boy, that's correct.
That's the job's got a lot of responsibility. So anyway,
proud of you, young man, that's all. So we will
miss you for that eight weeks worth of training and
be vigorous and hardworking. So just be ready to be
(00:38):
prepared and get with it because people need public servants
and that's what you are. Now. Now we got that
out of the way, Rack, We've got a lot to
get to sports and started. Football is back in god
so first and foremost, Antony. At the beginning, I'm gonna
let people know I may be doing my first Simmons
(00:59):
College game day. We're doing football this year. I'm trying
to get this week's WD to Boyce versus Wagner's game
in Wagner game in that's when that doctor Brooks Apra books.
My niece wants me to do, so I'm gonna try
to get them an end. If not, I'll definitely be
at the Central game next week Central, Shaanee, definitely, But
(01:20):
I'm trying to get in this week's So we're working
on that, Rick, and I'll keep you posted on that. Daniel,
of course, would be my producer. He'll go out with me.
We're trying to get that done, Rick, but I'll keep
you posted. So this may be the first week for
the Simmons college game day. If not, next week will
definitely be the first week. So we've got that on
the docket with a lot of other things. Anon, I'm
(01:41):
gonna throw it to you. Let you give out the
high school scores from last week. Yeah, all the Bulldog
fans and you were on the sideline with us, got
every call in the book. I told my man Ron,
he's sitting over there just gloating in the first half, Anthony,
but my Bruins made a push at him in the
second said he got a little nervous himself. So congratulations
(02:03):
to the Bulldogs seventeen fourteen over remember Ruins, But it
was a good game, a really good game. So but
then throughout some of the high school games, let's get
some of the high school games college games out of
the way before we dive into who won the first
fifty dollars of this year's EVE Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (02:21):
No. One hundred percent. And even the high school games,
we all did know that may ballad rules had fallow
as short seventeen to zero. We did, honestly made a better.
Speaker 2 (02:29):
Push in the second seventeen seventeen fourteen we shut out in.
Speaker 1 (02:32):
The first half. It was seventeen year old half. Yes,
and we're mentioning our starting quarterback, which I didn't find
out until I got the game. So we were running
a little shorthanded on the quarterback position. But you know what,
for being out of starting quarterback, that's a solid fight
right there. I can. I don't mind taking a loss
like that without our.
Speaker 2 (02:49):
Stroke good game.
Speaker 1 (02:51):
The other games. I mean that happened even around the
corner and down the street. Satan Xavier did play at
Bowling Green this past weekend, winning twenty seven to ten
on that one, and then Trinity played Frederick Douglass, winning
thirty seven to zero.
Speaker 2 (03:03):
It's not right there, yeah, Anthony, those two are impressive wins.
Trinity thirty seven and nothing over Frederick Douglass. That's Frederick
Douglass has a hard time scoring Anthony throughout the last
three years that I've been following them. But they hit
you in the mouth. And Trinity that dismantled them thirty
seven to nothing. Sant Xavier bolten Green ranked opponents. San
(03:27):
Xavier went down to Bowling Green twenty seven ten. Who
male is really good? I like their team and they're improving,
and I like their quarterback. Oh boy, this is gonna
be another crazy year in high school football. And Ballad's
gonna improve, Anthony. They are Ballad's gonna be fine this year.
So coach Kington's doing a great job. So there are
(03:48):
a lot of good teams, Anthony.
Speaker 1 (03:49):
What about Atherton?
Speaker 2 (03:51):
You know I'm gonna have to go watch Atherton?
Speaker 1 (03:53):
P oh, I know Averton zero.
Speaker 2 (03:57):
I know I'm gonna have to go watch them. I
That's all there is to it. So a lot of
great things are going on. So what do you think we.
Speaker 1 (04:06):
Can give it too fast? We got some bulleties fans
in here, don't we?
Speaker 2 (04:10):
Oh, we without a doubt.
Speaker 1 (04:12):
Jimmy Beverly, I was like I know, I'm not gonna quin.
In my eyes, it looks like Franklin County beat bullet
he's twenty eight to twenty one. I'm glad to hear that.
Speaker 2 (04:22):
Let me tell you something. You said that and you
did not know. But Jimmy Beverly, we all worked together
at Bluegrass Auty, and Jimmy now works He's part owner
of a shop right off of O.
Speaker 1 (04:32):
Henry.
Speaker 2 (04:33):
He hits me with the text yesterday he says, hey,
you better find somebody with the Bengals because I need
two tickets. He wants to take someone to a Bengals game.
I sit him back. I know no one, but I
asked Frank my son. Frank may know someone with the Bengals,
but Jimmy, I don't know anybody. So he's threatening. He's
already the bulleties came out of me and Anthony. He
(04:54):
was threatening me yesterday. Jimmy Beverly, I've called you out.
That's all I want you to know. So, yes, we
do have bull of these people. Of course, Shannon, and
I think they get a little bit of my bruins
a little later in the year. So I can't wait
for that game. Man, You can't wait. What about Oldham
County forty three to nothing on Shelby County. I think, god,
Oldham County.
Speaker 1 (05:15):
I haven't seen any one of those two teams play
football in a while. I'm gonna be completely honest. I've
heard some things about Oldham County, but I just haven't
seen it in person. It's one of those things sometimes
I gotta see it to believe it. Certain scores they
look good on paper, but if you actually go to
the game and you see who they played again, she's like, oh, well,
that kind of makes sense of what the score was.
(05:36):
M If I feel.
Speaker 2 (05:39):
And you said that, it just broke.
Speaker 1 (05:41):
Of course.
Speaker 2 (05:42):
I watched you in social media, and I was watching
arch Manning in a high school game, and they said,
in no wonder he was. He played poorly against Ohio State.
This was his high school competition. Anthony. It was pathetic. God.
I mean, the kids that were chasing him. They couldn't
have called me knee surgery and hip surgery. But I
(06:03):
think your Texas is gonna bounce back. Oh so, Anthony,
we'll get to that later. But you're right sometimes I
do too. That was anthony first game. This give a
kid a little credit. I mean, you talk about pressure packed.
Everybody in the world watching to see how he performed.
We'll get to that after the break. But I didn't.
I thought people were a little too critical. I told
(06:24):
you that heart fought game. No one picked the score
at fourteen to seven, No one, Anthony. Everyone thought that
it was going to be a high scoring game, and
it just wasn't that kind of a fair periods, the
defenses are a little better early on in the season
than the offense. That's just the fact that both sports,
basketball and football, it takes offense time to get together.
(06:46):
Now I'm not saying that for North Carolina, but anyway,
Bill Belichick got no breaks to beat off of em.
Oh my god, Anthony, I'm telling you, you couldn't have been
an Indian and a cowboy movie. He couldn't have rolled over.
They got beat so bad. It was just bad. So anyway,
let's move on, and what do we have for this
week's high school games? Who's playing? I know Ballard's going
(07:08):
somewhere Jackson, Missouri.
Speaker 1 (07:10):
Am I reading that right?
Speaker 2 (07:12):
I think I am. Boy. My bruins will go anywhere.
They're not frightened anybody. Everybody says, you know, that Mail
has the toughest schedule. Mail does have a tough schedule anything, boy,
they have a tough schedule. But what do we got
going on this weekend high school football?
Speaker 1 (07:27):
No, obviously we got a lot of games going on.
Bulld Eats will be going out to North Bullet playing
at seven thirty this Friday as well. Obviously one of
the big teams, the sleeper teams that I say at sleeper,
not even a sleeper anymore. I heard more about him
last year. The year before was Ryle, so so Cooper
will be playing at Ryle. Rowle's one of those teams
that's a little bit farther out. But I feel like
I always see their name popping up in the realm
(07:48):
when it comes around football, even basketball a little bit.
They've been popping up a little bit more. And I've
been seeing the Rye over the last couple of years
doing the high school report. Yes, I agree, but obviously
that we got Trinity will be going out to more
well out in Cincinnati. So they're playing Moeller seventh, Yes,
going until they're going up to sin Sea. We'll have
a little rivalry game out there in Oldham County. North
(08:09):
Oldham is going to Oldham County playing at seven thirty
as well, so it'll be a big game for them
out there. Then we got DuPont Manual will be going
out to Frederick Douglass at seven thirty Friday as well
to play that game. We got Eastern at Fairdale at
seven thirty, Fern Creek at More High School at seven
thirty as well. And I'm looking for my ballon Bruins.
Do we got a bye week?
Speaker 2 (08:28):
No, we played Jackson. We've got Jackson, Yes, Jackson.
Speaker 1 (08:32):
Right, we do. Oh, Jackson was a ballot at jack
And I'm surprised. I'm surprised we're going that far for
for a Friday for a football game.
Speaker 2 (08:42):
Let's have a budget. Let's have a budget. The game
of the week, though Anthony is the Male bull Dogs
against the same day Tigers. WHOA, that's game of the week.
And what I mean, Trinity Moeler.
Speaker 1 (08:55):
Is a good one.
Speaker 2 (08:55):
Also, Cincinnati has always been good in football. Ohio is
known from football. But gosh, this is same exactly that game.
Speaker 1 (09:03):
Will be more excited than the UFL game coming up.
Speaker 2 (09:06):
No, look, man, leave Louisville out of your mouth. We
haven't started.
Speaker 1 (09:10):
I'm not talking about it in a bad way. I
think Louisville played good. They're just not playing anybody, so
the games is aren't exciting right now, Like everybody know
the game is gonna be bad. I wasn't expecting them
to be up forty one to zero at halftime. I'm
gonna be completely completely honest. I was like, we might
win by forty. I didn't know we're gonna be about
forty at half.
Speaker 2 (09:31):
Yeah, I'm glad he pulled the dogs off, I really am.
They could have scored eighty points. But again, and those
kind of games, now that they're talking about going to
a nine game conference, you're gonna lose these games. Friday
Night's game when they're playing you know, I mean, come on,
we got James Madison, not bad, but still you're gonna
lose those kind of games, which they need to leave Anthony.
(09:53):
They're just not competitive. Coach raminself said, we're competing against ourselves,
and he thought his team did a good in the
first half, and he was one hundred percent correct. There
was no competition. They just Easter needed the money and
guys Eastern needs the money. So I want you to
understand it's two purposes. Yes, Lovill gets an easy win,
but EKU needed the money, the money that was paid
(10:16):
for them to come here and lose. They need that
in their budget. So don't just kill those teams because
those teams need that revenue now. And we're gonna get
to Break and when we come back with our contest,
of course in college football and all the things that transpired,
and we know the Cowboys open up Thursday. Can you
(10:38):
believe it? With the Eagles, the NFL is here. Boy,
what a great time in sports. So let's get to
Break Rick when we come back, and we're going to
talk about the winner of the first Eastports Radio contest
this year and what transpired. And I want people to
understand I'm going to say this going out to the Breaking,
(11:00):
I mean back in guys, there were a lot of
people that loved my email, and I've got no.
Speaker 1 (11:06):
Problem with that.
Speaker 2 (11:06):
You have to call this week. We had over twenty
something people, which was great, but I did inform one person, Rob,
I'm not saying your last name that you did not
give me the last three games. You only gave me
the game that counted. So yes, you're one and old,
but you cannot win because there were other people that
were three and one. You must give me all the games.
(11:30):
So I answered you back in time for you to
send me the games. You did not know problem. But
I want everybody to understand that email me. I'm not
going to try to answer your emails. When are you
going to gamble against me? If you email me, then
you're just trying to win the fifty dollars. You have
to call in so I can give you my score.
I'm not going to answer everybody's email back. I'm not
(11:51):
going to do that. It's too much work. Call in
if you want to try to increase your money. So,
but I'm not going to answer people. And I've got
everyone's email on text. Guys, I don't guys, I don't
care who wins. You all know that it makes me
absolutely no difference why I send this fifty dollars check
to which I'll employ you after. But robbyes, you're one
(12:13):
and zero for the contest. You did compete this week,
but you did not have a chance to get the
other three games. So I had three or four people
that were three and one with the right winning team,
which we'll talk to you about after the break. You
must do the entire contest people East Rids Radio. We'll
talk to you in a minute.
Speaker 1 (12:33):
Welcome back to the sports radio. Per usual for all
those listening. My dad's having technical difficulties. You know, I
think there's just a daily occurrence now with this equipment.
You know, if he's stuck more to my side of
the realm when it comes to the equipment and how
to use things, it wouldn't mean in communication areasone here.
But before he gets back on, I know we're still
talking about all the high school sports getting into the
(12:55):
college realms. Yes, I know, Texas looked horrible. Arch Manning
did not look greatest week one, but that's okay. It's
called a bounce back week. They are playing San Jose
State on Saturday at noon, so I don't say that's
pretty much a walk in the park game. But there's
a lot of teams that were impressive week one. I
know when he gets back, we'll talk about the ACC
actually looked very good this weekend. The only team that
(13:17):
really upset me was obviously Clemson. Clinton game did to
kind of go to the wayside a little bit, But
other than that, the ACC came out and performed. Carson
Beck with Miami looked good. As well. Duke. The two
lane quarterback transferred to Duke looks phenomenal this year as well.
I'm not the biggest Duke football fan. I love Duke basketball.
I've never really cared about the football team, but I
will say I do like wasthing them be successful, and
(13:41):
they've They've had a couple of top twenty five teams.
Hasn't been anything recently since Daniel Jones was there at Duke. Obviously,
we know where he is now in the NFL. He's
with the Colts, and that's okay. Florida State came out
there and absolutely thrashed Alabama, which was huge. Honestly from
the spread that I have projected in my head on
that Florida State Alabama game. It was kind of weird
(14:02):
because I didn't know what to expect coming from Florida State.
Off for the season they had last year. Now that
I think there's gonna be a regular occurrence from Florida State. No,
their quarterback situation last year was, Honestly, it was. It
was probably abysmal. It's probably the worst I'd ever seen
from a Florida State quarterback in my lifetime. So Florida
State bouncing back and taking Alabama at home. Doesn't it
(14:24):
surprise me as much as I thought it should have.
Because Florida State has been a powerhouse and a method
of college football for such a long time. We're finally
seeing them get back and stride into the standards of
what they are. And also another thing I saw that,
you know, I don't think Alabama will ever be the
same without seeking save. Nick Saban made Alabama football, and
I hate to say if people like Alabama was good
(14:45):
before Savan got there, they might have been. They might
have not. All I'm saying is, okay, is someone back
to the show now? With all the technical difficulties, No question,
it's pitiful, it's a penitiful, but you do an excellent job. No,
without a out. Let's let's move back to the Florida
State game. That was an impressive winds still Anthony. Alabama
(15:07):
was ranked eighth. Everyone thought that they were going to
get right the ship. They thought they would be more physical,
more aggressive. Oh my goodness, they had players that were
not sprinting. Social media was killing the defense's I don't know,
if anything, they may have to it's too early to
(15:29):
say coaching change. I don't want to kill Caitlin just yet.
I don't want to throw him under the bus yet,
but it's really close. They're gonna have to, really. I mean,
it's I hate that because we give up on the
coaches so quickly. Now I've been a coach my entire life.
That's the first thing we do. But the lack of
effort was just embarrassing. Florida State legitimately ran over them,
(15:53):
and that's what was surprising. I mean, they ran over them.
And the only thing that frustrates me in this scenario.
You didn't hear about all the Alabama players were up
at two am at the hotel the night before the game?
Did you? No? I didn't. They were The coach let him.
He said he believes in Clary's having freedom. The Alabama
(16:18):
players were up till two am at the hotel the
night before the boar won't be there long. It won't
be long. I heard that, and I and I saw
clips of it. I said, this can't be really. It
was that can't be really as an hour. You're not true.
It's no, it's true. They're players at the two am
at the hotel, they said, They said, people, even people
(16:38):
in the hotel could hear them like just up, just
like walking around playing music at two am in the morning. Yeah,
it won't be that long. No, that coaches will not
be there long. No, that's completely opposite. That the Nick
Saban philosophy won't be there. Now we all know that
that doesn't mean you're going to win. But anthony, the
most important thing for an anthony is to get their
(16:59):
rest period, point blank. That's just factual. So I don't
know where he got that attitude or that idea, but that's,
without a doubt, craziness. Because if they're up at two
o'clock the night before the game, what do you think
they're doing all week? Any that's the partner, come on,
coach telling the boy a year in trouble. So here's
(17:20):
the doing. Let's get to the contest. People are waiting,
and I did have a winner. We had a lot
of people participate, which is great. The people that email
me and text me, you must call in this week,
you must the winner. Let me just give you all
a quick synopsis of Mary was three and one and
(17:45):
she had allow stay thirty five twenty eight. Her only
loss was she picked Clemson to beat LSU. Martin was
three and one, same deal. Thirty twenty four, how State.
He of course had Clemson defeating Oh not true, not true,
(18:11):
Oh my gosh, not true. I am incorrect. I thought
I had a winner. Y'all are gonna believe this, And
he's not either. Martin Dunbar picked all four winners LSU
twenty eight, Clemson twenty four, Kentucky thirty. Oh no, there's
(18:34):
his loss. No you didn't thirty. He led Toledo defeating KAJO.
I was like, what am I doing? No, he had
Kentucky losing to Toledo. No, you didn't win, Martin. I'm sorry,
but he was three and one. I was slipping there.
I had a gentleman that was the closest rob, but
he did not pick the other three games. I had
(18:55):
Walter Booth three and one, and again he had Clemson
defeating LSU. He had Oil State thirty one, Texas twenty eight,
too many points. Steve was three and one. He had
the Texas twenty three, Oile State twenty four. Steve lost
the Clemson game. He was three and one. Had a
(19:19):
lot of people that were close. I had James Hanley
three and one. He had Oile State twenty seven, Texas
twenty four, he also his loss was the Clemson game.
Everyone thought Clemson was going to defeat LSU. He had
Clinton thirty to twenty seven. The winner was Charlie. He
(19:41):
had Texas Ohio State score at twenty eight fourteen forty
two total points. He had, of course, Clemson defeating LSU
twenty four to fourteen. He was three and one like
everyone else, but his points were closest to the total score,
so Charlie was the of this week's contest. Charlie sent
(20:02):
his in through emails, so of course he did not
wager against me. So Charlie has won fifty dollars from
Eve Sports Radio. Again. Everyone who sent yours in. Ron
was two and two. He lost the Ohio State. Texas
(20:23):
gave me a Texas twenty four off State twenty one.
He had Clemson thirty, LSU twenty seven. I had Patty
two and two. I had Shila two and two. I
had Cobby three and one, but he had it twenty
seven twenty one Ohio State, but he had twenty points.
(20:44):
Of course he lost. Everyone lost at Clemson LSU game.
He had Clemson twenty eight, LSU twenty four at Dwight
was one in three. I had Andrew. My first caller
was three and one, but he lost the key game.
He had Texas thirty eight, Oil State thirty five, so
he lost the game that he got to select. So
(21:05):
everyone knows Brandon was two and two. The first caller
gets to pick the game that matters. So again, whoever
is my first caller today, we'll be able to select
from these four games. These are the four games of
the week. I'm gonna bump it up a little bit
this week. I'm gonna go to seventy five dollars for
(21:26):
the winner. The four games are Ole Miss Kentucky Big
Game ABC at three point thirty on Saturday, James Madison Louisville,
Friday Night seven pm, Kimasas State which almost defeated Wake
Forest at IU. We've got to start to roll IU
into this. They did make the college football playoffs last year,
(21:49):
so we have to roll them in. And the national
game is Michigan at Oklahoma. Those are the four games.
Ole Miss Kentucky to Madison, Louisville, Friday Night, Kansas State,
I You, Michigan Oklahoma are the four games. So Anthony,
we'll get back. We're gonna go to breaks seven thirty three.
(22:11):
When we come back, we're gonna start to get into
what transpired, like you were doing with that college football,
but we're gonna start with the North Carolina. We've got
a little clip that I don't want everyone to hear,
Coach Belichick speaking about what happened last night. It was
a debacle. East Warts Radio on number five zero two,
five nine hundred. We'll talk to you after the break.
(22:33):
Welcome back to East Sports Radio. Sorry for the technical difficulties, Anthony,
who we are having issues. People are trying to call
in Rich trying to answer the phone guy, but it's
going straight dead. It happened to me twice I went
straight to saying the number was disconnected. So just continue
to try to call. So now we'll work these things out, Anthony.
(22:55):
Let's get first to last night's game, which we watched together.
Let's listen to Bill Belichick after the game. Rick, when
you get a chance, let's play the clip of Belichick
after the TCU beat out.
Speaker 3 (23:06):
You're all the way over to the hitsicker. You alluded
to it a little bit, but after that first drive
and it's time to stroll offense and so get game
wins on the board. What in particular your bench point
from the side on what TC doing to kind of
get you guys out of them the balls.
Speaker 4 (23:23):
Yeah, the look, they just outplayed us, They out coached us.
I mean, they were just better than we were tonight.
That's all it was to it. They controlled both sides
of the line of scrimmage. There's skilled players played well
and you know they they just they did a lot
more things right than we did. So you know, give
them credit for being the better team. They certainly deserve it.
Speaker 1 (23:42):
Well, basically, Bill Belichick, Anthony, what do you think? It's basic,
Bill Belichick? No one expected that the first game at home,
all the cameras, all the lights, all the superstars, Michael
Jordan was out, Lawrence Taylor, all the big timers. Roy Williams,
what do you think of that game? You watched last night?
(24:02):
And good Bella checks hoping her. You know what I mean.
I it was gonna be a tough road. It's just
never easy. But I didn't expect him to be giving
up a forty one point stretch of where they don't
score a point after their first drive. They went three
drives of a total of negative thirteen yards. Any offense
(24:27):
for any offense I hate to say this, that's just
a little embarrassing. But the thing is, I know he
wanted to run a simplistic offense his first year at
UNC and not a new guy's coming in seventy. I
commend the run game, but on your first four drives,
you can't run it fifteen out of seventeen times expect success.
I'm just gonna be completely honest. Even it wasn't like
(24:48):
it was a mix up of different plays of running plays.
It was the same halfback dive every senile. It wasn't
an RPO, wasn't a jet sweep, or wasn't try to
get to the outside and turn the corner. It was
a half back dive every rugby line. I was like,
you can't agree that expect much. That's the lowest yardist
run in football. Like probably is a half ac dive.
(25:08):
That's like what you do to get two yards and
get a first down. Here's the deal, Anthony, and I
agree with you. I told you when we were watching
it yesterday. He was trying to establish to his team
that he wants to be physical between the tackles. I
didn't understand to the extent that he did it, but
I understand what he was doing, but not to a
forty one point so lacking, which happened last night. But
(25:31):
I do understand that he was trying to express to
his team after the first drive that he was going
to want to command the line of scrimmage. That's what
he was trying to do, Anthony. It just didn't work
out last night. Not saying that it won't, I'm not
saying I'm not rolling over on Bill Belichick. You're one
hundred percent correct. It was the same dive, no question
(25:53):
about that. But I think he was just trying to
establish something with his team. Now, did he expect to
get beat like he did it? I don't think so.
I don't, but I don't know that. I don't think
he thought they'd lose the way they lost. But I
do know what he was trying to do early on
by establishing that between the tackles right now, the pick six, Anthony,
(26:16):
when the quarterback threw the late out, which was the
easy I mean that had pick six written all over it.
That was frustrating for him. But again, seventy new players
got the quarterback I mean late in the summer, Anthony,
I'm gonna give him. I'm gonna give him a little break.
Let's give him a little time to get it together.
But they did not tackle well, that's the one thing
(26:38):
that they did not tackle well. There was no push
at the line of scrimmage. I just didn't. Everyone was open.
You're the one. Every wide receiver not open every play.
That was what was frustrating defensively, every play wide open.
They opened the third quarter, and which is the guy
(27:01):
you can go seventy five yards? No one's even close.
Like those things are frustrating, and I'm sure they were
frustrating for coach Belichick also, But we have to wait
and see everyone sees now, Anthony. Everyone just thought that
coach Bellichick will go college and they're gonna win. Mm hmm.
Not necessarily. We've seen college coaches go up to the
(27:24):
pro ranks Nick Saban or he'll win mm hmm. It
doesn't always happen that way, guys. So I'm not gonna
judge coach Belichick yet too many Super bowls. He is
an excellent coach. But a lot of people have said, Anthony,
not always the exes and the o's. Sometimes it's the
gym's and the jee's, and your players have to play well,
(27:49):
that's why. I mean, that's just the bottom line. Your
players have to play to their level of ability. So
let's move to a game here in Louisville. We got
to watch. Well, it was attract me, which is what
I said last week. It was going to be attract
meet against each Kentucky forty one to nothing before Miller
Moss throws his pick six. Were you surprised Anthony at
(28:12):
the pick six with Miller Moss the two interceptions and
Saturday's game against the Eku, Not really, No, should have
been against Eku, I don't think so, but at my
surprise of what he's doing. Not necessarily because even when
I watched the highlight, say, we should watch some of
the game clips. Everybody's goal. They put up so many points.
They look good. The offense looks electric, which they did.
(28:35):
They looked electric, but it wasn't from the throwing game.
I'm sorry. The run game is phenomenal. Isaac Brown and
the other running backs. They are Isaac Brown's I think
probably one of the top five running backs in the country.
I just hate to see it. The run game is
going to have to save them this year. It's going
to when they play these bigger teams. The only thing
is I think is if Louisville gets into a hole
(28:58):
when they play at Clemson or they play on my
it's gonna be hard for them to come back and
recover because they're gonna have to throw the ball. You
can't run the ball and drain the clock, especially when
you're in a situation like that. I think if we
ever get a situation where we're up in those games,
our run game can carry us all the way to
the end of the game. I think so. I believe so.
From what I've seen over the last few years, Isaac
Brown has proved that he is solidified himself as one
(29:19):
of the best running backs in the country. But if
you're playing Eku, I hate to say it, even as
a college player, you can't throw picks against Eku. I'm sorry.
That's just that's one of those things that's just a
little bit. It's a little unacceptable because Eku is horrible.
You might be there might be Eku fans listening. Gotta
be one to be worst college football teams in the country.
(29:39):
They're terrible. I think they would have lost to Trinity.
No Trinity would a game and run for the money.
They were horrible, horrible. They kickoff returns, pun up returns
seventy five yard. They broke for three sixty yard runs.
Like what team has given that up? Like that? That's
just But that's what Anthony get sat with. And now
(30:04):
I told you it was a tract. Me don't. I
don't know why people are surprised. That's exactly I was at.
The game was exactly the kind of game that we
thought it would be. I thought it would be attracted.
I knew if Livan wanted to score seventy, they could
have scored seventy and they couldn't. Now, but the interception
to Anthony are something that they talked about, Okay, the
(30:25):
potentiency to do it at USC, Yes, he turned the
ball over here in spring camp. I read in the
paper he turned the ball over. We played Eku two
interceptions anthletes against quality opponents, and the ACC. I want
they fared better. I was impressed with the ACC. I've
given them a hard time, but yes, the Alabama game,
(30:47):
Florida say, I was impressed Miami. I was impressed against
Notre Dame, I really was. I think the ACC's better
this year. I was expecting North Carolina to be a
little better, but still the ACC fared well against the
good opponents. Now the turnover bug with Miller Moss has
to end, and I know coach Brom knows that there's
(31:09):
no question about it. We Beliebile cannot afford to have
him throw two interceptions and think they're gonna win quality
ball games this year. So they're gonna have to that
aspect of the game. And you're right, will they be
able to run over people? And they're gonna run the ball? Well?
I think Brown is really good, boy, Krins is good,
(31:30):
Jennings is good, Brown is good, dude, Adams. I mean
they've got an abundance of running back and Watson is good.
But still, Anthony, you're gonna have to mix it up
with the pass game and Miller Moss is gonna have
to not turn the ball over. That's all there is
to it. That's the period, Plaine blank. So it won't
affect them Friday night. They're gonna beat James Madison good.
(31:52):
But if that season progresses, Anthony, the turnovers are gonna
have to slow way down, or Coach Ron's gonna have
to slow down on some of the play calls to
keep the young man out of trouble because there's one
of the two. But I did not want to see
two turnovers, two interceptions against Eku. That was disappointing. It
really was. So if you were looking at all the
(32:13):
quarterbacks this weekend before we get to break seven forty six, Charlie,
you were my winner, all your fifty dollars. But if
you have to compare all the quarterbacks, Anthony Rice Underwood,
the young man at Michigan had a great opening game seventeen.
I mean they went thirty four to seventeen. He's twenty
one for thirty one for two hundred and fifty one yards,
(32:34):
true freshman arch Manny seventeen for thirty one hundred and
seventy yards, one inner, two no, one interception, one touchdown.
And then of course we can't leave our Cardot's at
Kentucky Kim for twenty three for eighty five yards and
a win over Toledo. Anthony, if you had to evaluate
the four quarterbacks, how do you rate them? You know what? Yeah,
(33:00):
I'm gonna sound biased because I'm gonna give arch Manning
a little bit more leeway because he is he's a
true sophomore in college. He's played three games. They're all
at home against teams that weren't that great. That's why
he got snaps when the quinn Ewers was there. So
I'm getting a little arch manding, a little bit more leeway.
But for Miller, Moss, for Dova, these guys have been
in college football since I was born. At this point,
(33:22):
you gotta step up and perform. And I know you
said I'm being too hard on I made fun of
him downstairs earlier this morning. I said, these guys are
getting paid more than neurosurgeons who go out there that
they will pick sixes against. Eku, you got to step
up and play better than that. People have high expectations,
higher than they did before because you're getting paid now,
which is fair.
Speaker 2 (33:39):
I'm glad you're getting paid.
Speaker 1 (33:40):
But at the same time, you can't go out to
your job and expect to just get paid to not
do anything. You gotta go out there and still perform,
regardless if you're a college coach or if you're an engineer,
a mechanic. Nobody's hired a mechanic that can't get the
job done. It's just simple, okay. I mean, I can't
argue that answering because they are being paid, and I'm
glad that they're being paid. And yes, people are going
(34:01):
to be more critical. I've got no problem with it, Anthony.
That's part of it. Without a doubt, that is part
of the process. I have no complaints with that. Well,
we're gonna go to break any and when we come back,
we're gonna talk about Kentucky and this Old Myths game
which we'll both be going to this weekend. That's gonna
be a huge game. Three point thirty Kroger Stadium, Ole,
(34:25):
Miss Kentucky and Toledo is the quality opponent, Anthony. They are.
They did defeat Mississippi State last year. They're a good team,
well coached. It was a good win for Kentucky. I
thought Kentucky would get it done. Yes, the passing game
wasn't the strength, but a win is a win, and
they could have lost that game. So I'm looking forward
(34:45):
to this Saturday's game. We'll talk a little bit about
it after the break. Is it Esports Radio, Yes, try
to call again to get your scores. In Old Miss Kentucky,
the first caller dictates which game counts to pick them,
but not anymore. The first caller will select the game
Olema's Kentucky, James Madison, Louisville, Gennessas State, I You, Michigan
(35:10):
and Oklahoma are the four games this week. Seventy five
dollars is on the line. Estworths Radio will talk to
you in a minute. Welcome back to esports Radio. And
I apologize, I truly apologize. It's not Rick. Rick is
picking up the phone every time it rings, Yes, it
is ringing. He picks it up and it's going dead.
So we're having issues. Rick is going to inform the
(35:33):
hierarchy at iHeart that they have to get this fixed.
But I don't want you try to think that Rick
picks it up every time it rings, guys, and it
goes dead. And I'm so sorry. We'll have to make
sure that we get it straight for tomorrow. We've got
our games, Anthony, but we're just having issues right now
with the phone lines. Don't know why, but frustrating as
it is, sometimes we have to push through. So, Anthony,
(35:56):
what do you think Kentucky's game? And when I looked
at it, Anthony, they gave him two and seventy yards
passing at sixeown one interception. Quarterback Rady of thirty six
twenty three and forty, which is pretty good, Anthony. He
only gave up fifty nine yards rushing. So defensively, Anthony,
(36:20):
Kentucky did more than adequate job Saturday. Offensively. If they
struggled eighty five yards passing far as that Cardoza two
and twenty yards rushing, they ran the mess out of
the ball, Anthony, I really did. So what do you think?
I don't know. Just the that eighty five past yards
of me just other throws up a lot of red flags.
(36:44):
Baz all Ryo for playing Tolito. Eighty five yards is horrible. Hey,
I mean that's not that's not a good number. I
would agree quarterback Radis. I'm not gonna sit here today
because we can't sit here and agree and be like,
does you can't have one of the better running games
in the SEC. No, I can't say that. Yeah too early, right,
(37:08):
they don't we know. You can't say we know we
know U of L has one of the best running
games in the ACC. After Week one, Well, I mean
you take twenty yards Russian that same Louis had, I mean,
what's the different Yeah, they've got don k, we did
twenty nine yards, we did ours and a half. They
(37:29):
did this in a full, complete game struggle to win
real game. Each is not a team. Toledo's a real team.
Toledo has beaten SEC opponent. Yeah, I mean you had
last year. That's the past. I don't get into the
past more than what the past got to do with today.
Oh God, So for you to say their quality team,
(37:50):
they got to beat somebody quality this year just because
they did something good last year. That whole roster could
be gone from the transfer portal, from graduation for the
NFL draft. They might not have one player of the
team last year that beat Mississippi State. Maybe we don't
know that for a fact, But the bottom line is
the coaching staff still there. That's okay. I'm are they
(38:10):
better than talk about? Are they better than Eastern? Look good?
With good play? Are they him any? Is Toledo better
than Eastern Kentucky your opinion in football? Yes? But is
the SEC better than the ACC and football? Yes? Absolutely
it should be. It should be an even matchup then,
the same as Louisville played EKU. Okay, we'll see. Well,
(38:32):
we will have to fight you nut. We're gonna follow
Toledo throughout the year and we'll follow Eastern. That's the
best one. That's the only age. I'm giving Toledo more
credit than EKU, but we'll follow both. So now let's
get back to the quarterback ten for twenty three in
a win, one interception, eighty five yards. Okay, we all understand,
everybody knows those aren't good stats, but quality run game
(38:54):
and the defense played well. So what do you think
is gonna transpire Saturday? Ranked opponent Old Miss coming in
good team? What happens? Since you're so negative, you're saying
that Old Miss is gonna kill him? Is that what
you're telling me? Is that what you're telling me Saturday?
I'm a I'm a realist. It's not negative. It's just
tells how it is. But Old Miss if Old Miss
(39:17):
in my opinion once right now, I think they might.
They probably come in and bow Kentucky out. For what
I saw last week. If they played colleague against Toledo,
they'll lose by three touchdowns. Three touchdowns, I think people
might take that weight. But you're saying Old Miss by
twenty one point, yes, dukey plays if they If Kentucky
plays a college get against Toledo, they will lose by
(39:37):
three touchdowns, they're gonna get blown out. Well, we'll talk
about it tomorrow. Gods, sorry for the inconvenience. We'll get
the phone lines worked out. Rick, I'll talk you tomorrow.
Please get guts on it as quick as possible. Eastwarts Radio.
God will then I'll be back tomorrow. Put a smile
on your face. You're not fully dressed. Bye bye,
