the way you use a They don't. They don't call

Hey, George. All I can say is, like I tell everybody,
I'm so good. It favors the only way I'm gonna

It's not my marriage, George, It's not gonna happen. But
(02:13):
let me say again George politically and everybody all this rhetorica, hear,
They're not getting into heaven that way either. It's called

Now we've got gentleman. Just before to bring him on.
You met him when we were at Cobby's birthday party.

Speaker 2 (04:21):

let me get this over with. I did, George, I did.
He said, you're sick, but we had a great time.

Speaker 3 (04:51):
Good morning, Jerry, and you too, George.
Speaker 2 (04:53):
How you doing, buzz man?
Speaker 1 (04:57):
It was really nice meeting break Tobby. Absolutely and remember
Cobby today. Absolutely, going away party, guys, no more going
away party, no more to you. I mean, Cobby was
called the tank. You don't know this, but I called
the tank because man, I'm trying to tell you. They
(05:18):
tried to kill Cobby a thousand times, couldn't do it.
Cobby was tough. That's all there was. That was a
tough man. I am telling you.
Speaker 4 (05:26):
Cobby he always told me, last four months with him,
he loved being on your show, and he loved George
and being part of your show.
Speaker 1 (05:38):
Yeah, he's a guy. He was. He was a great part,
no question. So I want you to read he knew everybody.
I want everyone to hear this. Letter that you read
when we were there at Cobby's birthday party and was touching.
So I want you to read the letter for us.
Do the best you can. I know it's a little
emotional for you, but do the best you can.
Speaker 3 (06:00):
Go ahead, yes, sir, It's called a Hall of Fame legend,
Walter Cobby Harrison. A coach is often one of the
first people outside of the family who helped shape who
we become. You were that for us. You set a
standard not just for how to play the game, but
for how to carry yourself in the softball world. You
(06:23):
showed us what it means to lead with discipline, humility.
Speaker 2 (06:27):
And with heart.
Speaker 3 (06:29):
You taught us that hard work doesn't guarantee success, but
it earns respect. You showed us that setbacks are part
of life and how you respond to them reveals your
true character. And more than anything, you made us feel
like we mattered, like we had something worth giving. We
(06:49):
look back on those years with so much gratitude. You
were always more than a coach. You were and are
a coach that expected nothing less than one hundred percent effort.
You made us better ballplayers, but more importantly, we always
trusted your judgment on end game decisions, and that's a
legacy that lasts long after.
Speaker 1 (07:10):
The final game.
Speaker 3 (07:11):
I just wanted to take a moment to talk to
you from the heart because you've meant the world to
me and the hundreds of ballplayers all around the United States.
You didn't just coach us on how to play the game.
You taught us what it looks like to hard work,
to show up when it matters, to have done it
(07:33):
and become a champion. You taught us about taking responsibility,
about pushing through when things get tough, and about staying humble.
Whether we win or lose, we better not lose.
Speaker 2 (07:46):
That's you, coach, Kyle.
Speaker 3 (07:49):
You were a steady You were and are a steady
voice with your.
Speaker 2 (07:55):
What's up, monk?
Speaker 1 (07:57):
How are you hitting it?
Speaker 3 (07:59):
And your signatures. We love to hear you say those words.
What a strong presence. There's no doubt in our minds.
We are better people today knowing you were part of
our lives and still are. But more than all that,
you made us feel like family. You believed in us,
and you believed in God, and I'll never forget that.
(08:21):
We love you, Kyby, and I just wanted you to
know how deeply we appreciate everything you'd be given us,
not just as a coach you, but for me as
a ballplayer. I had a chance to play for and
a legend we've always looked up to.
Speaker 2 (08:37):
Thank you for the.
Speaker 3 (08:38):
Times, the lessons, the last and the love. We will
carry it with us forever.
Speaker 2 (08:46):
We love you, Coach Cobb.
Speaker 1 (08:50):
Cole appreciate that it was just It was a wonderful
statement from your heart and it still is. I think
you described what Kybe meant to you all playing for him.
I only got to meet George. Did you know Kyby
before the show? George, I only knew Kyby eleven years.
Speaker 2 (09:06):
Yes.
Speaker 1 (09:07):
And when Coach Swure, my high school coach, told me,
do you know who just called your show? I said no,
And then he started to tell me about Lisa Harrison
and Kyby of what he had done, and then I said, well, yes.
I played against the Bourbons after we won it in
nineteen eighty. We had a little exhibition game and it
was a lot of fun. A lot of people showed up.
We were raising money for some fundraiser. I can't remember
(09:28):
which one, but that was the first time in Kyby said, yes,
I remember meeting you then, but did I get to
know him over eleven year period. George, do you have
any special moments, because I've got to I got to
tell people that Cole are directly off your letter that
he told my Simmons team. But George, you have anything
specially like this?
Speaker 2 (09:46):
Oh? Well, well, you know, Jay, you know, Kyby always
made special time for the show, you know what I mean.
I think the one thing that I really thank Kyby
for is introducing us to the horse racing game. You know,
when we first started out, we had old knowledge of
what we were doing, no knowledge of what was going
on in the horse facing game. And within two or
(10:07):
three years, Kybrie had introduced us to so many great
people in the game and got us like now we
got trainers to meet with us on before the race
every year, dirty you know, and uh, you know he
did that. And then all the things that really amazed me,
Jerry is when we would have the breakfasts, you know
what I mean, and he would come come in there
(10:27):
and all the former blog players. When Kyye answers players
to come in, they came out and Groves. You know,
I don't think anybody ever missed anything that was able
to get that, you know, I said, his personality was dynamic,
and you know the people he touched and the people
he affected was uh was fantastic. I mean he was
just something special to be around and talk more trash
(10:49):
with you than the law lap.
Speaker 1 (10:52):
He he did that. Now, Kybrie and I talked junk.
We couldn't help him. He was a male bulldog. I'm
a bruin. He just couldn't.
Speaker 2 (11:00):
He was gonna let you know that every time too.
Speaker 1 (11:02):
Every time I let him know it too. I told
him I took down the great male high school. He said, yeah,
you got lucky. But let me tell you what two things.
Kaby Harrison, after he came on my show Cold, would
get up at five thirty in the morning and come
to Saint Stevens Welcome back to Eve Sports Radio at
(11:26):
seven twenty. I went to apologize to everyone for that.
We know things happen with computers, but I do want
to apologize because George and Cole, I want you and
all my friends y'all have to hear this. I want
you to understand what Kybby did. I didn't and it's
touching to me, but it was the most fun I
ever had. So Kyby would come to our practices and
(11:48):
watch I practiced at six in the morning. Kyby would
be knocking on that door at five forty five. I'd
let him in and we had a great time. The
NBA came and did a segment on Coach Beard and
I when Kyby Harrison was there with us with our
early practices and what we were trying to establish at Simmons,
which had absolutely nothing to do with winning championships. It
was growing people. So Cobby says, coach, can't I talk
(12:11):
to your team. It was probably a month or two.
They had seen it, been there, he had become friends
with them, They had talked to him. In the morning.
He says, I want to tell you all something. We
had a tough game. We had lost and Coach Beard,
not George Cole. You don't know this, but we're after him.
I mean we're after really after getting after him. And
he says, kind of talk to him during a water break.
(12:33):
I said, without a doubt. So we had the team
come up and Cobby told them. He says, guys, let
me tell you something about character. And he addressed Coach Beard.
He says, this guy here, World Champion NBA Breckenridge County
Young boy's gone all around the world. Look what he's done.
But he says, let me explain to you what they're
trying to tell you all about character, And he says,
(12:54):
characters not through winning the game are losing the game.
Characters about which you do when you don't play your
best after that game, when you go back to your dorm,
your house, your apartment, by yourself and reflect, he says,
that's when character's grown. Sports doesn't do anything with character.
Build character you do. Character is built through you, and
(13:15):
you have to want to build character to be part
of a team of something special. I'm sitting there listening
to copy of My day self. You all, I'm sixty
fifty nine, sixty years old. I'm like, that's really good.
So what transpires from that? I need to have Tony
Brands on the show. I swear to you, I'm not
kidding you. From that point on, the team came back
(13:38):
and said, Coach, we've got our own pre game. Listen
to me now, pregame speech. What we want up on
the board. I'm sitting here going hold up, I'm the
coach here, you know me, George, I said, what you mean? No, No,
I'm the coach here. And coach seriously. They said, no, coach,
we want you to listen to us, and they put
up their copy rules. Make a mistake, be the first
(14:00):
one back. I mean, bust your butt back as soon
as you get a chance to see your teammate after
he made a mistake, pat him on the back, let
him know you love it. Got me. There were ten rules,
ten things. How we run on the floor, how we
run off the floor, how we approach our coaches. Guys,
I mean this to you. I swear to your Tony
Branch would lie you are Tony Brades. You know I'm
(14:21):
no good, but Tony Branch is the best in the world.
We would have the Georgetown coaches, Lindsey Wilson, we were
playing teams that were much better than us. Go what
did you do to your team? We brought them into
the locker room. This is no joke, and we showed
them the Cobby Commandments, and guys, it was the most
fun I had coaching ever. You should have seen it
(14:42):
and them playing and other coaches that other teams knew.
They said, what are you doing? They said, by my team?
We used to leave the commandments up on the boyds.
Speaker 2 (14:52):
You know.
Speaker 1 (14:53):
I used to call. You've played, George, you've coached, you'd
wipe off all your information. You'd never want to leave
any information for other teams coaches to see. Guys, you
all know this about coaching. We didn't. We used to
leave it up Cobby's rules. That's a guy's hon the truth.
Speaker 2 (15:07):
He said.
Speaker 1 (15:07):
A setback s nothing but to come back if you
come back with the right attitude, not if you come
back and win. If you come back with the right attitude.
That was long number ten. So, guys, I just want
to let you know that man touched everybody cold. He
really did, and he touched my kids to where I
told a few of them and they were super said
(15:29):
they couldn't believe that he had passed. So, guys, I
will see you today. Go ahead, Georgia.
Speaker 2 (15:37):
You know what it's funny is cause I'm sitting here
and I listened to you talk, and I'm listening at all.
When we were the Bourbons where we go out and
need that I'm my man and I'm blanked on Jersey Wagoners, Wagoner's, Wagner's, Wagner.
I'm so sorry. Uh. We go to Wagner's and I'm
looking at all the ball players, and Jay, I'm looking
at a situation where we gave him the jersey the
(15:58):
day the day. Uh, it's just a movie moment, man,
and he's got coach Kybe on the back, you know
what I mean. So yeah, y'all guys, And I say
one thing, not only was Kyby a leader of his players,
but Jerry. They stayed with this man for the rest
of his life, you know. I mean, he didn't just
coach him as young man, held as a senior. They
(16:18):
were all there, always there when he called for him,
you know me and they always came out in numbers
and Voldie mc gift and he knew everything they were
gonna do, all their families, all their children. Yeah, it's
just a you know, like I said, you know, it's
a sad moment, but it's a very very exciting moment
to be able to talk about the Kyby and what
he's done. And you know, one thing I like most
of all Jerry is that he got his roses while
(16:41):
he could still smell him. You know, I think that
means so much in life, you know. I mean, you
can walk around and you can smell the roses and
you know, and you got did a great job, coach.
I won't say that about you.
Speaker 1 (16:52):
I'm gonna let you. Can't forget Jerry.
Speaker 5 (16:55):
He loves those.
Speaker 2 (16:56):
He loved the gravy and biscuits at Lee Waggers.
Speaker 5 (16:58):
That's what he talks about a lot, no question, you
know that.
Speaker 2 (17:03):
And they knew, and they knew what he wanted when
he came in exactly.
Speaker 1 (17:08):
Cole. You're gonna send me your email. I'm gonna send
you pictures of Cobby and I George doing a show
from Wagler's Restaurant and a show from River Road Barbecue
when we did one for his birthday with the horseshoes.
So I've got those for you. So send me your email. Guys, Cole,
anything before we leave, I want you to take us out.
Speaker 2 (17:28):
Yes, I want to do thank you Cindy.
Speaker 3 (17:30):
I'd like to thank Cindy, Tobby's sister, for letting me
have a chance to do the eulogy tonight at his service.
Speaker 2 (17:37):
And I'll be doing that.
Speaker 3 (17:38):
I appreciate all that, and uh, you know, we sure
will miss Cobby. And thank you Jerry and George and
for having me on to share this with you with
your radio audience. And you have a great day and
when I'm looking forward to celebrating with you today.
Speaker 1 (17:56):
There you go, Thank you, guys. It's something to twenty seven.
We're gonna leave it there. We're gonna go to break.
Speaker 2 (18:02):
They take care.
Speaker 1 (18:03):
I'll see in a little while. George will be back
after the break. Welcome back to these Sports Radio seven
thirty one.
Speaker 2 (18:11):
Guys.
Speaker 1 (18:13):
Beautiful day outside. Rain has moved on the water. Thank you, Lord.
I needed it my yard definitely did. I've got the
one that only George Williams on the other line, George,
here's the problem. I go from we go from cold
leaving us touching beautiful letter to somebody on the line
that I'm trying to tell you, George, I don't even
(18:33):
want to talk to this man. He's almost in your category.
You want me to bring him on? You would never
guess what he is called in for a while, Okay,
for a while. Let me do this, Rick, please bring
Bubba to the show. I know, yes, everybody's your man, George, Babo,
how are you.
Speaker 2 (18:52):
What only great people, only great people? You're not my man,
you know, I mean you know only great people.
Speaker 1 (18:59):
Only great people.
Speaker 6 (18:59):
Well, Bubba, Well, first, first, let me say that I'm
sorry about the passing of Cobby. I know he's had
some struggles here in the last a few months, and
uh but yeah he's he's probably the better place now.
But uh yeah, you hate to hate to have anybody
you know friend pass away.
Speaker 5 (19:15):
But uh but the reason I called in I didn't
know if you were going to the big one tonight.
Speaker 1 (19:22):
I see, George, I told you sat Xavier Trinity eight p.
Speaker 2 (19:25):
M l N N Prime Time, Jerry prime Time, Prime Time, and.
Speaker 1 (19:34):
It ought to be a kitty bowl, George, What that's
kitty bowl? Kitty ball? I got Boiled County at ballot,
I get Boyle County at ballot. That's real football. I
got I got Cousin, and I got Covenant Castle, get Central.
That's real football. What are you talking about? Bubba's Trinity?
And what.
Speaker 5 (19:56):
Triney plays ballad this year?
Speaker 6 (19:57):
And I hope I run into you there because that's
when you go seek kitty ball, kitty ball to be
a running clock.
Speaker 2 (20:06):
What what what are you saying, Bubba? You like to
they're going to try to say they're.
Speaker 5 (20:15):
Gonna help the time out to big.
Speaker 6 (20:17):
Farms in trouble.
Speaker 1 (20:21):
Big farms in trouble is ready, George Sant Zager is ready.
Kevin Wallace's team is ready. Mason Tremble is ready. He's
gonna pass about forty yards on you all. Cobb is
nervous right now. Coach Cobb is nervous right now.
Speaker 6 (20:37):
He told me, well, everybody, you got to be a
nervous wrong with you. Yeah, but you're ready to play
it on it. Triny defense is pretty stout. Then they
got a whole lot of speed, and uh they're good.
But again it's a it's a rivalry game. And uh,
you know you can't take anything for granted. But uh,
(20:59):
I like the guys on Shelbyville Road.
Speaker 1 (21:02):
Hold up, hold up, hold up, Bubba, No, no, George, no, no.
I like you said on Shelbyville Road, you said Eastern Kentucky,
Western Kentucky, Jeffersonville, West End. Come on, tell the truth.
You like kids everywhere. You got three running backs from everywhere, Bubba.
I'm not gonna let you off. George. I'm not scared.
I'm not scared of the dark side.
Speaker 2 (21:23):
I'm not Bubba. My man. I got a rabble bubb
I got my hat and anything you see.
Speaker 1 (21:30):
George can't got your tongue, Bubba, what does the cat
have your tongue.
Speaker 6 (21:34):
No, no, no, but you know everybody now you're now
you're talking about recruiting, right.
Speaker 5 (21:40):
So let me take you.
Speaker 2 (21:42):
You said and I didn't thank you.
Speaker 5 (21:43):
Oh no, look, let's okay. You say you don't lie.
You killed the truth.
Speaker 6 (21:50):
Everybody out there wants kids to come to their school.
Speaker 2 (21:55):
Now, would you.
Speaker 6 (21:56):
Rather go to a uh uh really really really nice school?
Or would you like to go where you have a lot.
You know, you have opportunities. Uh, it's just the nicer
buildings and nicer facilities.
Speaker 5 (22:10):
Uh, you know, and or would you rather go to
the pig park?
Speaker 1 (22:14):
The pig park?
Speaker 2 (22:17):
George?
Speaker 1 (22:18):
You know, George, Baba took it all the way back
to Now. George, you got to step on my side
of the line. Now, Bubba, Yes, you all have money. Yes,
my Jason County school system is in financial trouble. But Bubba,
you have better finances. Bubba, you got great coaches and
great kids. I'm not taking anything from them. But Bubba,
(22:39):
do not say Shelby Road. Just say you have the
best of everything. I'll be good with that.
Speaker 2 (22:45):
Well, you got the haya hayten.
Speaker 1 (22:50):
Hayden.
Speaker 7 (22:52):
Well, that's the way once you get your head Kicken. Damn,
they kind of you know, they don't like it. And
then you always go to the game of the basketball
game when they're when Trinty's winning, and the first thing
first cheer out of their mouth is daddy's money.
Speaker 6 (23:06):
Well, okay, exactly, yes, we're we're paying, we're paying for you.
We're paying taxes so you can go to school, to kiddo.
Speaker 1 (23:17):
So uh see see there, Joey, Yeah see there. Bubba
has to go with the tax dollars.
Speaker 2 (23:24):
Okay, you got you guys, then took us some up
you guys, then took football games to politicians.
Speaker 1 (23:33):
Here knows. I don't buy Bubba. I'm not scared of Bubba.
Speaker 2 (23:38):
Don't let him about the butt whooping. Uge you up with, Bubba?
Speaker 1 (23:44):
Why did you run the score up on my Mail bulldogs?
Why did you run the score of beat you a lot?
Because Woo beat you a lot? Yeah? What's have been
wearing you out at Mail? So you ran the score
on him when you got him, when he was he
was down on a little bit. I follow you, Bubba.
I keep my eyes on Trinity.
Speaker 6 (24:05):
I'm sure you do.
Speaker 5 (24:06):
You wish you could have.
Speaker 1 (24:09):
No, hey, George, George, Trinity absolutely a kid ran up
underneath me in nineteen seventy six. George, I mean it hurt.
I'll never forget this located my elbow. George Cas.
Speaker 2 (24:27):
You know what I'll be about you, Jerry don't know it.
I'll be about you. Man.
Speaker 1 (24:30):
It's all about that the dark side the day because
of that.
Speaker 2 (24:36):
Well, that's a meaning.
Speaker 6 (24:38):
You'd have been to Trinity. It should have been a
whimp and limp and holding your shoulder coming off the field.

Speaker 2 (25:27):
Oh?
Speaker 5 (25:27):

lonely sandwich?
Speaker 1 (25:32):
See ire we go?
Speaker 2 (25:33):
Boy? Yeah, see im y.
Speaker 1 (25:38):
You gonna put your scores in this week? See how
much you know about real sports? Are you scared?
Speaker 2 (25:45):

Speaker 1 (25:46):
Okay, let me go. The game that counts is Alabama
at Georgia. Alabama fifty dollars if you pick the one
in the closest score fifty easy dollars. You do not
have to get in the briars bush with me and
let me beat the breaks off of you. You can
just take the fifty home like a low win. What's
the score? George? Alabama?
Speaker 2 (26:08):
She's such a nice guy, Bubba.
Speaker 5 (26:10):
Oh okay, let me see you here?
Speaker 6 (26:14):
Is that Alabama?
Speaker 1 (26:15):

Speaker 6 (26:19):
Georgia twenty three? Alabama thirteen?
Speaker 1 (26:24):
Okay, nobody has that? Sport Oregon at Penn State College

Speaker 2 (27:23):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (27:24):
I know that, Hey, George, even though I know your
basement is in all your prize possessions, but I'm gonna
leave it alone. Here's the deal, though, Babba baba. You
can put five dollars on the line, and I'm telling
you people will bet to win. If there was nothing
on the line, people would be saying Kentucky Little every time.
The minute I put money on it, a little little
fans to say Kentucky, and Kentucky.
Speaker 5 (27:44):
Fans will say little more.
Speaker 1 (27:45):
That's just the truth, Baba. I get you down, brother.
I do know your prize possessions are, though I want
people to know. Yes, I do. I know everything in
your basement.
Speaker 2 (27:56):

you can go see him, but you're not gonna see
in the college football playoffs.
Speaker 6 (28:19):
Yeah, they kind of messed themselves on that deal. So
but all right, hey, and uh, how come he didn't
have a good game on the tre in the next
game in your in your.
Speaker 1 (28:31):
On the list? No, no, I'm not. I'm not gonna
do that now, but I'm going for St. Xavier as
you well know. Though.
Speaker 6 (28:40):
I'm sorry, Hey, good, I'm glad you just put the
curse on the man.
Speaker 1 (28:44):
No, my Reds are still in it. I just want
you all to know the Reds are still in it.
They're still in it.
Speaker 2 (28:51):
I got before you leave, but I got tayfore you leave.
I will. I was gonna try to trick Jerry into
back in the Red today, but you did it for me,
and now they don't stand the same. Thank you, Jared,
Thank you for playing.
Speaker 1 (29:06):
We're to win the next three, all right there, y'all
be good. Hey, George, you're trying to get personal Reds.
Speaker 2 (29:16):
All I know is I just like they're in the hunt.
Speaker 1 (29:20):
They won seven out of ten games. George, Okay, let
me we got George, we got the next break. We
gotta get right next call. We all hope we can
bring some sanity to this. Adam Walman these words radio?
Speaker 6 (29:31):
Are you are you doing?
Speaker 2 (29:33):
Mister? He's how you doing? Little Williams?
Speaker 1 (29:36):
I doing a kabooski? You're doing all this morning?
Speaker 2 (29:42):
Yes, sir, always a pleasure when I hear your voice.
I know it's something gonna be intellectually said. You know
what I mean?
Speaker 6 (29:48):
Yes, Hey, I didn't have a question, Jerry, And I'm
not trying.
Speaker 3 (29:51):
I'm not trying to take up y'all's time because I
know you gotta get course.
Speaker 6 (29:53):
Did we did I get in the Briar's bush with
you on this?
Speaker 2 (29:56):
On this deal here?
Speaker 1 (30:01):
We did five games, but I didn't recall.
Speaker 2 (30:03):
You saying we was in the barers bush? Won them games?
Speaker 1 (30:06):
I did, That's really I did not do you want
to get in with me? I did not give you
a yeah, thirty four? Sure you took thirty four to
twenty eight Georgia. And I'm taking the under thirty three. Okay,
so I'm taking the Okay, you're in it with me now,
aren't trying to double his He's trying to double his money, George.
So anyway, but well, I mean I gotta do something.
You change the rules all the time, Jerry.
Speaker 6 (30:28):
I mean, I'm trying to make a little bit of
something here.
Speaker 1 (30:32):
I'm the most consistent person you ever meet.
Speaker 2 (30:34):
And Georgie just slap me. You're not going And that's
your and that's your guy, Jerry, and that's your gad.
Speaker 6 (30:42):
Hey, it isn't a wit. He is my guy, and
we work it out. But you stay, you stay at
the table and you can be quiet.
Speaker 1 (30:49):
Yes, little Eve, everybody loves you.
Speaker 2 (30:58):
What I what I love about to Adam? You a
loser like your buddy, is both of y'all losers. I
ain't go go gang cocks man, y'all have a good weekend.
Speaker 1 (31:08):
I love you all right.
Speaker 2 (31:09):
Yeah, I'm gonna have to be talking about me Jed.
We're gonna have to keep baring him from coming out here.
Speaker 1 (31:16):
No, No, it's every time.
Speaker 2 (31:21):
I have I'm gonna get the a c S treating
the boy George. You heard me.
Speaker 1 (31:24):
See that's only for ac Adams on every time he called,
especially when you're on can't wait seven forty four. George,
we're gonna go to our last break.
Speaker 2 (31:33):
Such a nice guy.
Speaker 1 (31:34):
You're chilling us. Stop George. Hey, look, George, I'll trying
to tell you of this show's turned personal. It's like
I know the city, and the city knows me. George.
Mike who played golf with me. He's a cat and
I had to teach you. I had to touch him
up a little bit, George, and I did. George, he
just says, jus, I touched him up a little bit.
(31:56):
He's been on. He told the truth, George. Mike Brown
said me, you're killing us. Stop Gens. Mike is out
my fault. They lost two out of three to Pittsburgh.
I thought we were definitely in it, but we're not
done yet. We just got to beat the best team
in baseball. It just it just went downhill.
Speaker 2 (32:13):
Mike All I can tell you, yel.
Speaker 1 (32:19):
We can take the Brewers. We can take the Brewers.
That's all Reds are in it. See, we had to
cut George off my Reds alone. Everybody's getting my Reds
hard time this morning.
Speaker 2 (32:33):
I'm not getting I get I get the hard time.
You backed them and had tame We know he'll be
with somebody else.
Speaker 1 (32:41):
Next week, your red Saws two out of three games
to the lonely Pittsburgh. I said I didn't need that
this morning. I know I'm following it, he says, yep.
And you know they're not gonna pay any of their players.
You can just forget it. I'm like, if people don't
stop being so negative about my Reds George, first thing,
they wouldn't got friend Conor. And second thing, they're in it.
(33:02):
Oh he's George. You know, right Brown? You know what,
right Brown? Just he said, Amen, George, take us a break, Rink.
I can't take it anymore, Amen.
Speaker 2 (33:10):
George, take us away.
Speaker 1 (33:15):
Welcome back to E Sports Radio seven nine. George, I
want to think again. My man Billy Hayes. He's the
reason why everybody's calling George. They want that five hundred
dollars be your I understand motives. I understand the motives.
But that's okay. Here's the deal, George. I know people
like yourself are an into it, but the Ryder Cup
(33:36):
is started. Justin Thomas and d Shambeau are playing Hatton
and John Rahn. They're up one to three. You've got
Scottie Scheffler. Russell Henley or playing also they're up one. No,
they're down one through two. The third match is Harris
English against Colin Moulkowan. They got no chance. They're playing
(33:57):
Roy McElroy. They got no chances. I'm just telling you
they if that group can split, that's a great win
for the American team because I'm telling you Tommy Fleetwood George,
now that he has won one, I'm telling you people
think that Scotty is very good. But if fleet Wood wouldn't, honestly,
Jeremy wouldn't choke George. He had the one seven majors
(34:19):
by now, and that's the truth. He's most consistent golfer
in the last five years. That's been no events or
buts about it. He just choked and then he finally
won one. George Oh, a month or six weeks ago.
That guy could be the best golfer next year, hands down.
So anyway, I know everybody's not into it, George for
the Ryder Cups going on Beth Page, Black, Georgia, New
(34:41):
York City. What it means, George is you can cheer.
It's like a basketball or football game. None of that.
Sh don't talk, be quiet, you'll break my concentration.
Speaker 2 (34:50):
That garbage.
Speaker 1 (34:51):
George. I play enough golf, now, George, that's just garbage.
They're playing right now and it's so loud. But you
wait till the masters, you'll see them. Look at the crowd,
all man, you just get a bad ball. That's a George.
They just get a bad ball, that's all. Shoot. Sometimes
it offers a little arrogant that's all. They just get
a bad ball. But anyway, that's all now, George, we
(35:12):
got great high school games, and not that one at
ll and N. We all know about that llen N.
The pap Riley starts at five babba. I'm sure you'll
be there at four fifty nine. But we've got pleasure
at Park at Mail Bullet, Easton Manual, fern Creek at
Atherton Ballad really took care of fern Creek last week.
I think Atherton's gonna run amok on them coming to
(35:34):
Catholic at Central, George Butler at kc D. Boyle County
at Ballard. So we've got great high school games we
know that we've got to watch, and the college games
are off the chain. So George, I'm gonna throw it
to you. True. We got five middles Do you want
to talk about the transfer rule in high school where
(35:54):
players can transfer one time? Or do you want to
talk about the shot clock in high school basketball? Which
twent you want to talk about?
Speaker 2 (36:00):
George, I haven't talked about either work clock because I
thought the subjects had been implemented a while back.
Speaker 1 (36:08):
Okay, and I'm glad you take that because I'm on
the other side. George, tell me why you want me
to go first and then you recan or you want to.
Speaker 2 (36:15):
Go first out? Well, okay, you can go first and out.
I like it.
Speaker 1 (36:19):
Here's the reason why, George. Yes, I don't like it.
Here's the reason why. In college, George, we've seen them
playing games with the rules since almost when I left.
George is when the three point line came into play.
I don't know why, George, because my eighty championship team
averaged eighty points a game, no three point line, no
(36:39):
shot clock got me. So yes, I think we won
the championship in UCLA fifty nine fifty six, fifty nine
fifty four, okay, George, now scoring game. But the semi
final game against Iowa, I think we beat them eighty
eight eighty no three point line, George, no shot got me.
We beat LSU the game before that, the weekend before that,
(36:59):
we beat them eighty sixty three. George, we scored. There
was no stimuli. So now they put in a three
point line. Milt Wagner, Jeff Hall. They scored a thousand
more points than I did, George, because they're shooting thirteen footers,
and so did Kentucky's players in Indiana's with that short
three point line. You remember that. Then George, they say, okay,
(37:20):
they stopped. They weren't scoring enough points. They started moving
the three point line around trying to find out what
is the correct distance. Then George, after that they said,
we're not scoring enough. We need to make this open
up the game. So all the dribbled drives started. George,
no more plays. All I'm going to ask you is this,
when's the last time you went to a high school
game and you said somebody overpassed the ball. George. All
(37:42):
I see is one guy dribbled and shoot it right now.
So the three point the shot clock's going to do
throwing it to you.
Speaker 2 (37:50):
Right, Jay, Well, the one thing that I think could do,
I think it's more entertaining for the fans. I think
there's nothing worse than going to the game and watching
a paint drive with teams. A good example, I went
to a game about three or four years ago and
the team one shot three shots in the whole first half. Jerry.
There's no place for players to come out there and
(38:11):
not put on the perform. If your team is not
capable of playing, then you shouldn't just let them come
to the game, you know, Jerry. I think the teams
go out there and you want to see you pay
your money, You want to see an entertaining game. You
want to see them running up and down the court.
You want to see the ball going up and down.
But when a team can take the ball and run
their play for twenty five minutes, Jerry, I don't think
that's beneficial to the game. I don't think it's beneficial
(38:33):
to the players because when they go to the next level,
they're gonna be on the shot clock, So they need
to be eclimented to using the shot clock at a
younger age, so when they get on the next level,
they'll be more proficient in how they adjust to the
shot clock. So I think it does a lot more,
and I think it mains more excitement to the game
for the fans. You know, I think, like you said,
the three point line was too short at first, but
(38:54):
right now I think that the three point line is
running basketball because they back run to the three point line. Joe,
you don't have to worry about if they're gonna uh
uh take them drive the ball ring you're playing and
get a layup off off the play. They don't think
about that our back door or something. They don't think
about that, Jorge. They think about getting to the three
point line and shooting it. And ninety percent of the
players we know cannot shoot the three and then really
(39:15):
messing up the game. But now that, now that you
got to put it up, I think it's gonna bring
more excitement to the game. I hope we'll get more
fast breaks and you'd be a little bit more entertaining.
That's just my hope.
Speaker 1 (39:26):
Okay, here's the deal, George, I got something for all
of us to hope. Bubba just sitting me. I'll be
having lunch in the parking lot, George. This sat Xavier
at Trinity game. Let's go same Exavier Tigers. Let's go Tigers. George.
Come on, let your little emotional here this morning, no question,
Let's go Tiger.
Speaker 2 (39:50):
Bubba ahead. Bubba sent me in Trinity Head and I
got a back then when they next center had then
I may be controversial, So you should be both.
Speaker 1 (40:01):
That's all George should be jer I shouldn't know what.
Speaker 2 (40:05):
Quickly, well, I won't want. I wouldn't want a brewing hand.
Speaker 1 (40:09):
That's yes, you will, Yes, you will. Talking about you
when you went to the brewin when you saw that
studio we had, Yes, you were, he said, you did.
Speaker 2 (40:20):
It's almost it's almost as good as chs. It's the
very best, and lots and any bad watching, Jared. I
got those pictures of sitting, and I'm ready to get
it through whenever i.
Speaker 1 (40:32):
Can, trying to make it, trying to make it out
this afternoon. If you can, I've got something. One time
you get at that, I'm gonna be out there two
fifteen to about three thirty three forty five, George, come
out to the home homegoing of the Great Kybby Harrison.
Love y'all have a great weekend. Put a spill on
your face or you're not fully dressed. God willing. We'll
be back on Monday. Bye bye,
