Speaker 1 (00:01):
Welcome back to Eve's Sports Radio. It is September the ninth,
twenty twenty five. My phone numbers five zero two five
seven to one seventy nine hundred. That's five zero two
five seven one seventy nine hundred. This is Sports Talk
seven ninety WKRD Again. I've got Rick behind the glass
(00:22):
sitting in for Shannon. Shannon will be back tomorrow. Rick,
appreciate you and all the work you've done, heating up
early in the morning. Yeah, it's good to be here, Jerry,
no question. I appreciate you so. And of course everyone
knows that my younger son is Algolic. He's part of
the Saint Matthews fired apartment. He's one of the cadets.
And brought to him and he brought me a book
(00:42):
back that Rick. That book's got to be a thousand pages.
He dropped it on the kitchen table, almost broke my table.
I said, well, better you than me. Get to work,
young fellow. Yes, I have the first one. The page
is read by Thursday. I said, there you go, got
a real job. So happy for you. So we've got
(01:03):
someone standing in for him, No, George Williams. Today we've
got the one and only Scott bow Wage, Rick Gin
you and I I don't know where that guy works now,
had a job. I mean, he's the best in the world.
Lives in Miami, private beach in Hollywood, Florida. And I'm
being honest with you Wage. Hey, Scott, how are you man?
Hard work has been in show business? How are you doing? Hey?
Speaker 2 (01:26):
Not everybody can live this life. Coach. You're a tough one.
It is a tough one. But I do my best.
It's you know what. Everybody's got a role in life, coach. Yes,
you know, some gotta work. You know, some harder than others, but.
Speaker 1 (01:47):
You do your better.
Speaker 2 (01:48):
Just trying to play great, trying to play my part
in life.
Speaker 1 (01:52):
That's all. That's all we all can do. Scott, appreciate
you sitting in with me today. Of course, a lot
of sports to get into and people don't know Scott
was my assistant coaching Golly, I don't know, probably seven
or eight years and all the four letter words. I
was not coach Crumb. I told you all. I was
never coach. He was the best, did the best I could.
(02:13):
But I wasn't coach Crumb, that's for sure. So Scott's
been called a little bit of everything. But he's he
lived through it, he persevered, He's fine. So Scott, I'm
glad that you have. You made it through those those
great high pay in years we had at A and
T A lot of fun, no pay, but a lot
of fun.
Speaker 2 (02:31):
It was the longest but best years.
Speaker 1 (02:36):
There were. People have no idea when you worked in
HBCU sports, which means you play a lot of pay games.
You go around for the money, just like Grambling did
and Ohio State beat him with seventy to nothing. You
need the money, so we played tons of pay games.
We traveled good though Scott lived good, and we had
(02:57):
to tell our players to do the best you can.
We'll evaluate you at our level. But we still had
a lot of fun, Scott. We upset a lot of
them though Scotty's toward the end they wouldn't play us.
Yes we did. That was a lot of fun. So
appreciate you sitting there with me. Scott. We've got a
lot to get to now. I did not yesterday till
(03:17):
this week's games, Scott, I have had winners the last
two weeks. Scott. No one is getting in the briar's
bush with me. No one. They won't coming to in
the bush with me. If they do, they can double
their money. But everyone stays out. I don't know why, Scott,
other than I just beat the brakes off people. They're
not trying to double their money, which is fine. Last
(03:40):
week's winter was Mary. Yeah, well I was got. I
beat them. I didn't have to pay that. I see
if they got in the briar's bush with me and lost,
no one got paid. I usually would double the money, though, Scott,
I didn't try to keep them money. I would double
it the next week. But people are they're frightened. They
don't want to mess with me. I understand. I am
the best, Scott. I want you to give everyone our
(04:02):
four games of this week for the contest. We know
that Marry won last week and you don't know this guy,
but everyone keep track of your total wins. I have them,
but you keep track because at the end, the person
that's been the most consistent, which means they call in
or text me every week. Scott that has the most
(04:25):
wins wins five hundred bucks, straight up, five hundred bucks.
So that's all. So let's have the four games.
Speaker 2 (04:32):
You're just you're just telling tell me about this now
I could have I should have been winning. See this
is this is why we have this love hate relationship
because you hold back on some key some key factors.
Speaker 1 (04:49):
Here, Scott, yoursn't Anthony, you family. You can't win anyway.
You're on the show. Andy can't win, George can't win.
Kyby Harrison can't win. I gotta call him, man, copy
see how he's doing. Love it man, he can't win.
There are a few people that can't win. Everyone else
can win. Scott, you couldn't win. My wife can win.
(05:09):
She's not ever on the show. She's not a co host.
You can't win, Scott, So there was no reason of
me time.
Speaker 2 (05:16):
I gotta have my sister call in somebody.
Speaker 1 (05:19):
Oh yeah, you can do that. You can do that,
you can do that. Here's the deal, Scott. We just
told people that you beat the system. Now you want
their seventy five or fifty dollars. It's fifty dollars this week,
fifty dollars winner this week, and you want their fifty dollars, Scott,
or one hundred if they get in the briers to
push with me. So let's have the games. I can't believe.
Speaker 2 (05:38):
All right, here we go so first game we have
Indiana State against number twenty two Indiana exactly easy game there.
Speaker 1 (05:51):
I didn't think Indiana would beat Keennessas State the way
they did godly, but they did, Scott. I mean they
took the tennis shoes off the bottom, the rubber off
the bottom of the tennis shoes. They beat him so bad,
it's got I mean they had a walking barefoot. They
beat him so bad, it was awful.
Speaker 2 (06:07):
Yeah, that's uh of the I mean, you know it's
gonna be bad.
Speaker 1 (06:12):
But not that bad. Not that bad. Yes, Sinnati Pisey
week schedule has done well. He has made Indiana relevant.
He has who's your fans? But I think it's gonna
catch up with you. I think next week they play someone.
I'm not sure. I've got to go look, but I
think he's got a challenging game next week, so we'll
find out what Indiana really has.
Speaker 2 (06:33):
I mean, you know, with the way this college football,
these conferences are, it's just it's how the how the
scheduling plays out. Because sometimes you can sneak through, you know,
you have one or two tough games, but then it'll
catch up to you at some point, Like we'll talk
later about it.
Speaker 1 (06:51):
But yeah, I agree.
Speaker 2 (06:53):
You know, some of these guys are their their job
is on the line. But yeah, next week they have
number nine Illin all Way at home.
Speaker 1 (07:01):
Okay, there you go. That's a good game for them.
Speaker 2 (07:04):
Good ones for him. So next on our games is
we have number six Georgia at number fifteen Tennessee. That's
gonna be a tough one.
Speaker 1 (07:16):
That's the next game of the week.
Speaker 2 (07:17):
I think absolutely, No, I mean because then then right
behind it, we've got number sixteen Texas A and M
at number eight Notre Dame. That's another Those are two
big games right there. Those are going to be the
tough ones. And the last game we have is Eastern
Michigan at Kentucky. Right those are the four of the
(07:37):
four games we're going going with this week.
Speaker 1 (07:40):
Gotcha? So everyone knows Indiana State, IU, Georgia, Tennessee, Eastern Michigan, Kentucky,
Texas A, and M Notre Day. The first caller gets
to pick the game that counts. So everyone loves God.
Everyone loves to wait and hear everyone else's scores. On
Thursday and Friday, the phone line is completely just go
and every line's taken because they want to find out
(08:03):
or whatever the betting line is got people, wait, right,
it's great, But the woman that won last week, Scott,
she wasn't even close to the over under won the money.
So everyone should know. No one has any idea truly
what's going to go on with these games. Not now,
it's still so early, so early, So anyways, got those
are four games. Louisville has a bye week, so there's
(08:24):
nothing going on with Louisville and we'll take it from there.
So what else do we have? Scott sent fourteen Scott,
let's stay on task. Let's let's get to break, and
we'll come back. Out of the break. We're gonna start
to talk about of course, had a football game last night.
The NFL is back, and we'll go from there. So, yeah,
this is Eves Sports Radio. We've got the Scott bow
(08:45):
Wage on the other line, sitting in for Anthony Eves. Scott,
you know I'm gonna do you like I did Anthony.
No pay. Your family's supposed to work with the family
business for free. How do you like it?
Speaker 2 (09:00):
And uh, you might have a going solo after this
was commorcial break.
Speaker 1 (09:07):
For free, Scotty, Come on for the gift like we
always used to say it A T, We've got to
do this for A and T, not for our personal pockets.
Got you, So that's all, Well, I appreciate you sitting.
Speaker 2 (09:19):
Definitely what it definitely wasn't for our personal pockets.
Speaker 1 (09:23):
Oh no, not people. That's why Scott is so comical
around here when everyone is talking about the pay and
they have no idea what low level Division one basketball
pays and why people get into business and why we
enjoyed it, had a ton of fun, great relationships made,
and you weren't making twenty five thousand dollars. And I
(09:44):
started at seventy five Division one head coach seventy five thousand, Scott,
I made Moore's Louisville's assistant, Oh god, Lee seven years
before that. People just don't know lower level people want
to get into business. They want to help people. And
we'll talk about that later. So let's get the break
rik the four games. The first caller gets to dictate
(10:04):
the game. Indiana State IU six point thirty, Big ten Network,
Georgia six, number six, Georgia Number fifteen, Tennessee three thirty,
Saturday ABC Eastern Michigan versus Kentucky seven thirty ESPN U
and Texas A and M sixteenth R versus eighth rank
(10:26):
Notre Dame seven thirty NBC. Those are the four games
E Sports Radio. We'll talk to you all in a minute.
Welcome back to the show. This is Esports Radio for
numbers five zero, two, five seven, one seventy nine hundred.
It is seven nineteen. If you have to be there
by eight, start scurrying. That's all I can say. And
be safe. I've already got our first caller on the line, Scott,
(10:48):
so he'll be able to dictate. Greg. You'll be able
to dictate the game. So I'll bring you on in
a second. But again, everyone needs to know where this
five hundred dollars is coming from. And y'all know I
don't give up a dime. That's all there is to it.
I say, pitty, well, not as much now, Scott, not
as much now. But then yes, I say pennies. I'm
(11:10):
old now. So I bought me a really expensive car,
the nicest cars ever bought Scott honestly, And Mike Ryan said,
you never spent that kind of money with me. I said,
I know, Mike, I'm sorry, but I was being cheap
there but Billy Hayes, the town in country and commone
of Godde Scott is the person that's putting up to
five hundred bucks got me at the end of the year. Guys,
(11:31):
no other station than Liard was doing this. So I
want people to go in. When you go into Billy Hayes,
he's usually there in the mornings. Bill gets there early,
leaves about lunchtime. Going there and tell him thank you
for the five hundred bucks he goes. That's where the
money is coming from. Billy Hayes is my number one sponsor. Scott.
I take it out of that sponsorship money. You can't
beat it. So Greg's the first guy up. But I
(11:53):
did want to thank Billy for stepping in. Bluegrass was
with me, Scott for ten years, Mike, Jim Haynes and all.
They sold the dealership to the German Group. I'm still
the German Group does not liver in Louisville. I'm going
to have lunch with them. But Billy Hayes stepped right in,
and I appreciate everything the town and country has done.
(12:14):
Go see Chuck Kine. I'm telling you he's the very best.
Kenny Blatton and Cam Dodge, I take my truck. It's
I got a TRX. It's one hundred down dollar truck.
I'm not gonna lie. It is just the real deal, Scott.
It's all there is to it. It's faster than my Mustang.
It's a truck. I can put my shit in it.
It's luxury. I mean, he's got everything, drives itself, I mean,
(12:37):
running all the above, right, and I mean I love it.
I'm not gonna catch it. It's just phenomenal. Gas mileage
is the only thing. But who cares. God, that's all.
But it is the best car I've ever It's the
best automobile I've ever driven. Ever. So it's funny when
you can say the best automobile I've ever driven is
a Dodge. Guys, I've had them all. I mean had
(13:00):
I traded. I traded the F one fifty, which was impressive.
I'm telling you, I love trucks now, Scott. I just
I'm a truck person. But guys, it's amazing. So anyway, Billy,
I just want to appreciate you and what you've done.
So Scott, we're gonna get before we jump into the
last a football game, We're gonna bring Greg to the show, Greg,
welcome to the sports radio.
Speaker 3 (13:20):
Are you I'm done?
Speaker 1 (13:22):
Good?
Speaker 3 (13:22):
How you guys done?
Speaker 1 (13:24):
Greg? Were hanging in here? You have been won in
the first two weeks. So Greg, what's your problem? Do
you need some help? You need me to help you.
Speaker 3 (13:30):
A little bit? I guess yeah.
Speaker 1 (13:35):
Okay, So let's git with it. What game are you first? There?
Are you gonna get the Briars Bush? Are you gonna
try to double your money?
Speaker 3 (13:42):
Are you not sure I'll get in? I'm scared?
Speaker 1 (13:45):
Okay, okay, Then you get to pick the game. Which
game are we bettat on?
Speaker 3 (13:51):
You know what game we're betting on? My volunteers.
Speaker 1 (13:56):
You know what I got people? You're like third on
the people say that Greg loves his volunteers. Your third
on the list most hated, Greg, I'm being honest. So
let's go with it. At Georgia. Let's go at Tennessee, Georgia.
At Tennessee. Tell me your opinion.
Speaker 3 (14:11):
Tennessee. Tennessee is winning this game. There's something special run
in Knoxville. Man, it's gonna be uh, it's gonna be
thirty one twenty four volunteers.
Speaker 1 (14:28):
You in all these games, most of them have been
lower scoring and I'm going to the under. I'm taking
thirty twenty four got me? Okay, volunteers, but I'm taking
the under. So you got it. You're in the bush.
If you win, you'll get one hundred. You're not gonna
beat me, all right, That's all there is to it.
Speaker 4 (14:44):
Okay, Right, let's go.
Speaker 1 (14:45):
To Indiana State Indiana at IU.
Speaker 3 (14:50):
Indiana will win thirty five fourteen, got you?
Speaker 1 (14:57):
Eastern Michigan Kentucky. Kentucky faired better than people thought, Greg.
They played better, I will in the game last week
they didn't.
Speaker 3 (15:09):
I'll say Kentucky's gonna bounce back pretty good. I'll say
Kentucky wins, uh twenty eight ten.
Speaker 1 (15:16):
Okay. Now they're saying that Cardoza may not be starting
with the injury from last week. They may be cutter Bowls.
So we're gonna have to wait and see what happens.
That's in the front page of today's paper. I saw
that this morning. I'm like, so it'll be interesting to
see who will be the starting quarterback for the University
of Kentucky and Scott and Greg here's here's the deal.
(15:39):
Coach Crubbins, the one who told me, and I've told
people this since I've been on the show. If you've
got a younger player and a veteran, if they are close,
you play the younger player. That's all there is to it.
Jerry's Tony Branch. I mean, yes, I end up being
better than Tony Branch, but beginning my sophomore year and
Tony senior year, Tony was really good at what he did.
(16:01):
It was close. And Coach Truman with the younger player
when win in a national championship, Well, that's just the deal.
If it's close between Cutter Bowl and Doze, they should
go with the younger player. Kentucky. Shit, so we'll find out.
Last game for you, Greg, another good one Texas A
and m at Notre Dame Notre Dames. Oh and one
(16:23):
has to have this game.
Speaker 3 (16:24):
Yeah yeah, I'm a I'm an SEC guy, but my
son has season tickets to Notre Dames, so I'm going
with Irish. I think, and I think. I think Notre
Dame looked really good in their loss against Miami, but
I think they're gonna be fine and bounce back. I
think it would be a good game. I think I
think Notre Dame will win thirty five thirty one.
Speaker 1 (16:47):
Greg you're my first caller.
Speaker 3 (16:49):
I've got you in Hey, and I want to John say,
everybody needs a pump the break something this big ten
SEC man, because the SEC is starting to show that
they're they're still good, and I think they're going up
getting better than the Big can Oklahoma is real. You're
gonna see Tennessee is real. LS, So we'll see.
Speaker 1 (17:09):
Well, okay, I'll hear you on the pump the breaks
and and no one gives the SEC more credit than
I do. But let's know, the Big Ten's one in
the last two years they wanted in. You want everybody
to take Georgia.
Speaker 3 (17:24):
Everybody Georgia. Yeah, everybody say Georgia, Jesse take Georgia. Yeah,
all right, thank you.
Speaker 1 (17:32):
Grant to see you, all right, Georgia. Scott, but Jeorge
the Scott is the deal though. Okay, yes, let's get
We've got to get to last week's winter Scott. Mary
one of my two lady callers that will call in.
I don't know why more don't Sheila does? She just
(17:53):
missed last week. They're working, they're really humping every republic
right now. They've got a lot of openings, so she's
been busy. But let's bring Mary. Mary, welcome winter to
east where it's ready. How are you.
Speaker 5 (18:05):
Good morning? I'm doing well, Jerry har are you this morning?
Speaker 1 (18:09):
Well? Mary, I'm great. I'm glad you won. I'm just
glad your husband went my husband exactly. You've got it all.
I put it in the mail to you yesterday. You'll
get it to Mary congratulation. Are you going to put
your thank you?
Speaker 5 (18:26):
I don't know any of the games. I don't know.
Speaker 1 (18:30):
So are you saying you're not ready? Mary? You know
you just picked. You know you're not worried about it.
I'll give them to you.
Speaker 5 (18:35):
Well, my husband called me and told me don't give
him your picks because you're not ready. Gladly what you said?
He said, Jerry wants you to call him and don't
give him your picks yet because you don't ready the winner.
Speaker 1 (18:53):
The winner has to call in at the beginning of
the week to claim their money. That's why I don't
even have you called. But you do not have to
get you. Don't listen to Osma. Don't listen to him.
That's all.
Speaker 5 (19:03):
Well, I mean you will give me the Thames. I'll
take alan good guessing anyway.
Speaker 1 (19:08):
Okay, let's go with it. Then India. The game that
matters is Georgia at Tennessee. Mary, Georgia at Tennessee. Okay,
that's again. Georgia's ranged six. Tennessee has ranked fifteen. It's
at Tennessee at three thirty.
Speaker 5 (19:27):
Okay, I'll take Georgia twenty eight Tennessee.
Speaker 2 (19:38):
Eighteen.
Speaker 1 (19:39):
Did you say eighteen? Mary?
Speaker 5 (19:42):
Yes, sir?
Speaker 1 (19:43):
One? Eight? Okay one eight? Gotcha. Let's go to Indiana State.
I you winner, You're the winner from last week. Huh okay.
Indiana State at Iu. It's a route. Indiana's going to
be to Mary. It's a route.
Speaker 5 (20:03):
Okay, I'll take Indiana State.
Speaker 1 (20:08):
Uh okay, great, go.
Speaker 5 (20:11):
Ahead, And then I you uh? Is that you? I'm
doing Indiana State against I you?
Speaker 1 (20:20):
Yes? I thank okadi.
Speaker 5 (20:25):
I worked for twenty one.
Speaker 1 (20:27):
Twenty one Indiana State. Are you got yes? I worked
in Arrolde Indiana and Indiana State. One of the few
people that have ever been and lived in Tyrold, Indiana
other than Larry Bird myself.
Speaker 5 (20:42):
That's pretty good company, Larry Bird, it is.
Speaker 1 (20:44):
That's a real good company. Eastern Michigan at Kentucky.
Speaker 5 (20:53):
I'll take Kentucky. Well, Eastern Michigan I give them twelve
and UK I'll give them twenty one. I have no
clue about any since so I totally got Mary.
Speaker 1 (21:13):
You had the lowest score last week and you won easy.
So again, I'm so glad that you're letting people know
you're not handy cappy. You won the money you won
seventy five dollars last week last game.
Speaker 5 (21:23):
Yes, thanks, thank you so much.
Speaker 1 (21:27):
Welcome. Oh no, you're welcome, and thank you for at
Notre Dame.
Speaker 5 (21:37):
Well, I guess I'll go with the Irish Texas A
and M I'll say fourteen and Notre Dame I'll say
twenty eight.
Speaker 1 (21:52):
Got you, We've got you in. You're good to go. Mary,
come down tomorrow. Yeah, he's that bum. He'll never do
you want to? Okay? Now married, Do you want to
try to double your money and getting the Briar's bush
with me or not? No? Okay, there you go, keep
your winnings married. I want you to win. I'm gonna
(22:14):
call him if he doesn't get in the Briar's bush,
I'm gonna call him chick in.
Speaker 5 (22:19):
He's the one that tells me not to don't get
in it. It's too hard. That's why I didn't get in.
He's the one part to me. But he did not
have anything to do with my score. I picked my
score myself. He doesn't have anything. So just let just
so you know, I did that myself. He didn't have
any input. I'm proud of you.
Speaker 1 (22:39):
Shut up Landing. Thank you, Mary.
Speaker 5 (22:42):
I have a great day too, Thanks Jarry, you too.
Speaker 1 (22:45):
But yeah, Scott, we got one more caller. Let's get
him in before we get to break. Who do we
have on the line? All right? Who do we have?
Rick is Brandon? Yes, Brandon Brandon, welcome to the sports Rady.
Are you good man?
Speaker 6 (23:00):
Quit telling all those liveses.
Speaker 2 (23:01):
I've been in the bushes every week with you.
Speaker 6 (23:06):
Live it you can week I got.
Speaker 1 (23:09):
You were close. Yes, you would have won. You do
know that if Mary hadn't a beat, Yeah, you would
have doubled you. I want people to know that is true.
I got the record, brother, I truly truly do.
Speaker 2 (23:20):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (23:20):
Let's get with it. Yeah, let's get with it, and
I'm gonna take it. There's over under Tennessee, Georgia. I
don't have to tell you what's at stake at Tennessee.
Speaker 2 (23:30):
Let's go with Georgia.
Speaker 6 (23:31):
Twenty eight Tennessee twenty.
Speaker 1 (23:35):
Oh, you're making Greg happy.
Speaker 2 (23:39):
Mm hmm.
Speaker 1 (23:40):
That's forty. I'm good, Scott. I'm going the under again.
I'm going twenty seven twenty. I'm taking the under. Brandon
would have beat the last Scott. He almost won this
and this week. Yes, no, no, no, no.
Speaker 2 (23:53):
He's already calling it out.
Speaker 1 (23:54):
Yeah, he's already going it not crying.
Speaker 3 (23:57):
I'm point back to the app field, baby, I'm pointing
to back.
Speaker 6 (24:00):
To the house there.
Speaker 1 (24:02):
Okay, Indiana State Indiana.
Speaker 6 (24:05):
Let's go with Indiana forty five to three, forty.
Speaker 1 (24:09):
Five to three. Eastern Michigan at Kentucky. Kentucky played back.
Speaker 6 (24:17):
God it pains me, but I'll go Kentucky and we'll go,
uh thirty one to three three.
Speaker 1 (24:27):
Okay, see Scott. Here's the funny thing, Scott. When you
put money on the line, it makes Kentucky fans pick Louisville,
and it makes Louisville fans Tuddy, Scott. When you put
money on it, got you get the truth. I love it.
That's why I love it, because it makes people. If
there was no money on it, I know you would
say Kentucky's gonna lose. But when you put some money
(24:48):
on it. Scott. You get the truth.
Speaker 6 (24:51):
Oh man, When I get done, when I get done
giving you these sixs, I usually go hurry up and
watch my mouth.
Speaker 1 (24:57):
That was so like I said, A, Yeah, Texas A
and M at Notre Dame.
Speaker 5 (25:05):
This is a tough one Notre Dame coming off of Bye, Let's.
Speaker 6 (25:09):
Go Texas A and M.
Speaker 1 (25:11):
Let's go Texas A and M. And let's go with.
Speaker 3 (25:15):
Twenty eight to twenty.
Speaker 1 (25:17):
Also, I've got you now know this as I know
you do. You were four and old last week. Keep track.
I'm keeping track. Keep track each week. I think at
the end of the month I will tell people where
they stand, how many wins you have. I think I'll
do it once every month. I'm not gonna do it
every week because it makes it's just busy, but I
(25:37):
will do it once a month. Let everyone know where
they're where they stand. So, Brah, I've got you, Brandon.
I appreciate you, brother, Thank you, man, I buddy bey bud.
So Scott, I'm trying to tell you, once you put
money on it, Scott's not putting up a lot of money.
Fifty bucks. Weens have fun, people, Scott. You get the
truth out of people. Yes, you do, you do. You
(26:01):
have Kentucky fans Big Louisville because they weren't trying to
win the money. They want to beat me more than
their hatred for the other school. And you have Louispool fans.
You're already gonna wash my mouth out picking touch it
is funny. So anyway, Scott, we're gonna get to break,
then we come back. We're gonna touch a little bit
of this spitting incident. You don't know it, but I
spoke about it Friday, and now we see, we know
(26:25):
what is going on that I told people, monkey see,
monkey do, I said, I told him that when Carter
did that, the NFL needed to do more. And you
see why. We'll talk about it after the break. Welcome
back to Eves Sports Radio. Yes, my mind was somewhere else.
But anyway, it happens. You know, when you've only got
the one brain, Sell Scott, when it wanders, it could
(26:46):
hurt you. Welcome back to the show. This is the
sports Radio got Scott Bowage on the line with me. Scott.
We saw what happened in the very first six seconds
of the NFL season when mister Carter's spit on spat
on Dak Prescott and Friday. That was Thursday night. Friday,
I spoke about it. It was hideous. It's just unacceptable.
(27:11):
And I said Friday on my show that no matter
what he wants to say, just like Charles Barkley says,
I'm not a robot, you are. And I said Friday
that people are watching you. Well, Scott, you told me.
What has the NFL done so far? Anything at all?
Have they made a rule on They said that they
(27:32):
were going to have something out on Monday. On Monday, Okay,
but I haven't either. But before I can blink my eyes, Scott,
I've got a Florida defensive tackle, Brendan Betts apologize Monday
for spitting at a South Florida player during a critical
moment and an eighteen sixteen loss last week, calling his
(27:53):
actions a terrible mistake. Now this I just want anybody
to understand. And then, do we really think that that
young man was spent at the guy that didn't happen Thursday,
or do we just think that the kid is just
that damn dumb. It's where he saw what happened. He
(28:13):
heard the commentators in the Thursday's game. I know he
was watching I don't care. I watched all the games.
I'm sure he aspires to get to that level which Scott,
like I used to tell our players, it's one of
the two. We're not gonna get to the grave. Matter
which one was it is he just that dumb Scott
or did the NFL not make it serious enough to
(28:37):
get everyone's attention? And Scott does it in a critical
period in the game, he cost Florida. So what do
you think? What's your opinion?
Speaker 2 (28:48):
I mean, I look at it as you saw what
happened Thursday night. So we have opening the NFL. All
eyes are on the Eagles and Dells especially. I mean,
that's kind of a rivalry game, even though Dallas hasn't
been good in thirty years.
Speaker 1 (29:04):
But that's true. I believe Cowboys alone, but it's true.
So it's true.
Speaker 2 (29:10):
So that you have, like I mean, all odds are
on that game, and this happens right away. It's the
talk of the entire game. I mean, because you know,
Jalen Carter is a big part of the Eagles defense
and that's all they talk about. So now you have
Brendan Bett at Florida, and I know he watched the game.
(29:34):
If he didn't watch the game, he at least knows
what happened. Yes, so he gets, you know, Jalen Carter
gets kicked out of the game, the effects of the
Eagles defense because he's not in the game. So like,
what makes you think that the same thing is not
going to happen to you if you do the same thing.
(29:55):
So I get, like, you never know what's going through
people's head, I mean, laps of judgment everything. But you know,
and I know his teammates were talking, like everybody had
to be talking about that. What happened with Jalen Carter
at football practice on Friday?
Speaker 1 (30:12):
Absolutely no, Like yes, at out the door.
Speaker 2 (30:22):
So it's just I mean, just a bad like and
you I mean, I would say, like he just kind
of blacked out, and you know, you're in the moment
and you.
Speaker 1 (30:33):
Just you do stupid things.
Speaker 2 (30:35):
But again, there's no there's no excuse for it, obviously,
like there was no excuse in the Eagles game. And
like you said, the bigger part of it is the
the lessons and everything that you're teaching these younger kids.
Let's get hopefully, like hopefully these coaches, Yeah, hopefully the
(30:59):
coaches like like reiterate.
Speaker 1 (31:01):
He's not Billy Napiers.
Speaker 2 (31:05):
I'm talking. I think I'm at the younger levels because
like it all trickles down because you have the NFL.
Happened at the NFL, so now you've got the college level,
so now.
Speaker 1 (31:17):
And it's going to have it in high school. I agree. Well,
let's res here's the deal. Scuy Betts draws a fifteen
yard penalty and was ejected from the game after spitting
on offensive lineman coach Skinner. With about two minutes left.
The beunerty gave the Bulls, which is Florida South Florida,
a first down on the drive that ultimately ended in
(31:38):
a twenty yard field goal that gave South Florida its
first victory over Florida. Okay, I want everyone to understand that.
So he's executed for two minutes to go. Of course,
he apologizes and all that, but I want you to
listen to this piece. Florida's coach Billy Napier said during
this news conference Monday that there would be some internal
discord let me say this to you again, internal discipline,
(32:03):
but had not decided whether he would suspend Bets for
Saturday's game at LSU so again, Scott, like, I told you,
and I've told everyone, and I'm glad that you're on
today because I couldn't get to it yesterday. Scott was
my assistant coach. I told everyone the only thing that
got a kid ejected off my team immediately was hitting
(32:26):
a female. Period. We got nothing to talk about. Pack
your stuff, call your parents him come get you. That's it.
Everything else. I was a big boy. I dealt with
what does that mean? That means that things that happened
in practice, yet guys fight each other, guy smokey marijuana.
I tested my team with my own money, and I
(32:46):
didn't make any money, Scott. Right or wrong, Scott. I
had people that never missed practice. We're missing practice because
they want to get their drug test, guys. I'm just
being honest with Scott. You remember that I had a
paper to do. I'm like you, guys, because they didn't
want to they didn't want to plunk their drug tests.
I still suspended them. Here's and I had parents calling
(33:06):
me begging me to play their players. I'm I'm gonna
call out the names. But Scotty, you knowing, I'm like,
I guess you don't really love your kids. Because I'm
not playing and I was about to lose my job.
I'm just to be honest with you all. I was
about to lose my job, but I told them anything
that happened in practice loose lips and ships. We deal
with it internally. But I had a young man at
(33:30):
a huge rivalry game grab his crotch checking into the game.
I want to try to listen to me now again.
Checking in did say anything, turn to the crowd and
grabbed his crotch. Scott, tell him what I did to
the young man. I want to tell them what I did.
Speaker 2 (33:47):
It was no longer on the team after that game.
Speaker 1 (33:51):
Guys, he made it public. I didn't. He broke the rule.
He did something that was unacceptable. He knew it. I
knew it. Since you make it public and the young
man did when he spent at the player, Betts, it's
your fault. We're gonna deal with it. You made it public.
When it is public, it must be addressed. BILLI Nabors
(34:14):
trying to keep his job. Billy Neighbor needs to lose
his job. If a kid plays Frity Saturday, they need
to fire Billy Naples. He needs to teach a kid
a lesson. Now I put the kid off my team.
I don't think everybody has to be as severe as
I was. Everybody has their level, yes and no, I'm
gonna be honest. By that time, Scott, we were good.
(34:36):
I was not about to lose my job. I don't
want people to believe that I had just gotten raising
a new four year deal and all the above. I
don't want to tell a fit. But it didn't make
any difference. The kid was gone, period, point blank, not
part of my team. Certain things we win and lose
are unacceptable, so Scott, this is one of them. If
(34:56):
someone would spend on me, we'd still be fighting. I
mean that, and Scott, and I don't want people to
think I'm choirboy. I fought Wes Matthews and the fair
Grounds in the jump circle. Yes, yes I did. I
wasn't choir boy. I mean yes, we Wes Matthews played
Pro his son played Pro West, and our good friends.
(35:16):
Now we were on bottom Line Sports together during the
All Star break. I want to say, eight years ago
talking about our fight, Scott. So I want people to understand.
And I don't think I know. I was suspended for
that game, but not a game after that. But I'm
gonna tell you spitty anything worse. Never thought Scott. I
(35:37):
never thought about that. And I was a competitor, Scott,
coach Crumb, I embarrassed the program in my family, and
yes I did, Yes I did. But I still didn't
spit at someone. Now that young man needs to be suspended.
I didn't say put off. He needs to be suspended.
The young man checked in front of a five thousand
packed gym and grabbed his crotch right in front of
(35:59):
the scores table. I had no time for it. He
had to go. So that's all. So this situation coaching Apier,
Please don't play the kids. Help the kid. You've made
enough money. You can be fired. You will be fined.
Trust me, Billion Napers is not gonna miss any meals
if he loses his job. He is filthy. Do it's
(36:22):
right for the kid. So I'm waiting to watch him.
We'll see Scott seven eight when we come back. We
got the one and only gots another caller, the one
and only the Travel Chief Ac.
Speaker 6 (36:31):
Will be on with us after the break.
Speaker 1 (36:35):
Welcome back to the sports radio. Before we bring on
the Great A C. Scottie, here's another little tidbit that
I think Louisville fans UCLA quarterback Clarkson arrested on felony
charges suspend me. UCLA backup quarterback Heire's Clarkson it's facing
unspecified felony charges after his arrest Friday, according to Los
(36:57):
Angeles County Sheriff's Department records, and has been spended from
the football team. Clarkson, twenty one, has not played this season,
his first with the Bruins ZE two, after two seasons
at Louisville and spending the spring twenty twenty five semester
at Ole Miss. He was arrested by the Los Angeles
A Police Department Southwest Division, and bill was set at
(37:19):
thirty thousand, per the department's website. Gosh, his first schedule
is October the third, Oh, Scott, We'll have to stay
tuned on that. I hate to hear that for the
young man. Golly. UCLA. Of course, we're aware of the
charges against Pierce clarks In. The UCLA at let Department
(37:39):
supposed Toman said in a statement he has been suspended indefinitely.
He has been indefinitely suspended from all team activities, penning
the outcome of the legal process. Oh gosh, so's we'll
have to keep rye on that one, guys. R. He
was supposed to been a sure fire great quarterbacks got surefire.
(38:02):
I mean here in Louisville, everyone was super excited about
this young man. Never will you didn't get a chance
to play. But we see that the two people that
played in front of him are both NFL quarterbacks, Jake
Plumber and Tyler Shuck were both in an NFL quarterback
so that wasn't a mistake made not playing him. But still,
(38:23):
I just hate, hated to read that this morning. So anyway,
let's bring on our one, hey cell with these words radio,
what do you have for me?
