in forever. I can't remember the last time I was here.
I think I was here watching Rick Wilson play. When
I played at Ballad, we didn't play Athleton here. They
were scared of us. They didn't want to see any
of Ruin Nation. But I am at Athleton High School.

Speaker 2 (01:25):
His agent is talking to my agent. He's trying to
get a raise he never wins. George Williams is running late.
He says he's in a traffic jam outside of the school,
but I don't believe it. So we're starting off with
the one and only head coach athlete in high school.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
Nino White. Welcome to the sports radio are you Nino?
Thanks for this morning. No, appreciate it.

Speaker 2 (01:47):
Appreciate you having us in, got us in your locker
room and makes me remember the old days. I was
a better football player than basketball. I swear to you,
preach it and I played in NBA. I promise you.
I told your players, I'm as you. I was a
better football player. My dad said, nope, broke my heart.

Speaker 1 (02:04):
Broke my heart.

Speaker 3 (02:05):
But coach, thank you for having us.

Speaker 1 (02:07):
What's going on? Tell me what's going on with your program?
Tell me what's going on?

Speaker 3 (02:10):
With your school.

Speaker 2 (02:11):
I can't believe Atherton has been here since nineteen twenty four. Yes,
established nineteen twenty four, hundred.

Speaker 1 (02:19):
Years, one hundred years.

Speaker 3 (02:21):
It's amazing.

Speaker 4 (02:22):
A lot of history, sir, and you're part of it.
I appreciate it. I'm grateful. I'm thankful to be here.

Speaker 1 (02:29):
Thanks.

Speaker 4 (02:29):
So it's been a journey seven years in all work, dedication,
long nights, early mornings, but it's paid off, and it's
gonna pay off.

Speaker 2 (02:39):
Coach your teamus wa well, George and Ivans. We follow
high school sports now and we report. You know, I'm
a Brewin. Just just understand.

Speaker 3 (02:47):
But I coached that.

Speaker 1 (02:48):
I understand I'm a Brewing.

Speaker 3 (02:50):
That's fair.

Speaker 1 (02:51):
Everybody knows how bart were the bad bears, that's all.

Speaker 2 (02:56):
They called me the pig form. But that's okay. It
used to be at all the jokes, but it's okay.
But I remember Athleton. Rick Wilson, I mean probably be
for you were born coach played at University of Louisville.
He was the man left handed. I was a left hander.
Rick Wilson was the best left handed guard ever at Louisville.
Second player taken in the second round, back when there

(03:18):
was only twenty three teams to the Atlanta Hawks. I
mean he was a stud. He played here. He was unstoppable,
really really good player. That's my memory of Atherton High School.
His younger brother played here after that. They had some
decent teams basketball wise, but football wise. I had never
heard about them until you put them on the map
last year and it was like Athdens winning games. George,

(03:40):
what's going on at Athleton? And of course you know
we knocked you all. I'll just be an honest coaching man.

Speaker 1 (03:45):
That's fair. I supposed to me.

Speaker 4 (03:47):
We didn't understand. I mean, I mean we see that
every week exactly.

Speaker 1 (03:52):
Nothing's changed.

Speaker 4 (03:53):
We have to go do it and show people. And
that's what we do. We show up. We're going and
keep proving them wrong. There you go, I mean there
is they say us across the board. You know, some
people just still sleeping on us. Which if that's okay,
we don't knock nobody for that. We keep showing up,
keep using butts.

Speaker 3 (04:08):
That's all taking names.

Speaker 1 (04:11):
So you got Butler today, Yes, sir, what's going on
with this game?

Speaker 3 (04:15):
Easy?

Speaker 1 (04:15):
Win?

Speaker 3 (04:16):
Nah?

Speaker 1 (04:16):
No wins easy. It's a district game.

Speaker 4 (04:19):
District cat playoff seasons on the line and you know district,
so you know it's everything matters now, you know, you
know the first six games were just.

Speaker 2 (04:29):
You know, to prepare you for today. Yes, sir, so
get you all going. How many games we have left
in the season?

Speaker 1 (04:34):
Called four? Okay, so we got tonight and three more.

Speaker 2 (04:39):
It's so quick, it's unbelievable, health quick the football season goes.

Speaker 1 (04:42):
It starts and ends in high school. Unbelievable. Coach.

Speaker 2 (04:46):
We're gonna talk about a lot of things. We've got
your players, which will bring them all later in the show.
But you've been here now in the Jeffson Gatty school system.
You told me since two thousand and fourteen. Yep, went
the Pleasure Ridge Park, Sir. Got you well, I've known
Larry Kenley del Aubrey, all the great things that have happened.
We have done a basketball show at Place Ridge Park

(05:06):
last year. Harry was on with me and Larry and
I go back. I'm sixty six, Larry and I go
back forty years. That's how long I've known Larry. We've
just been bumping the heads along the way. Great tradition.
But you played for a great coach, Chris Wolf. Sir,
what was your experience at PRP to prepare you for this.

Speaker 1 (05:22):
I mean it was nice. It was for you know,
learned a lot, seeing a lot.

Speaker 4 (05:28):
You know, I kind of knew then playing that coaching
was what I wanted to do, you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (05:32):
I sat back and watch the coaches. I watched how
they sent up practice.

Speaker 4 (05:35):
I watched how they you know, trained us and worked
us in practice plans and all that kind of stuff.
So I kind of always knew that it's the route
that I wanted to take. Excellent, So I'm thankful for
the coaches that I've had. Eric Wolf then seeing all
those type guys.

Speaker 1 (05:47):
Over there, you sit. You a little time in Ballot Nation, Yeah,
I coached over for two years. Coach years with US.

Speaker 4 (05:53):
I coached over in twenty twenty, twenty seventeen, and twenty eighteen.

Speaker 1 (05:59):
Gotcha experienced the nation? Yeah, a little bit of it.
You understand.

Speaker 2 (06:06):
People don't like me because you know, I just promote
Ballard And that's fine.

Speaker 1 (06:10):
I'm a bruin man. I get it.

Speaker 2 (06:12):
The best days of my life. I'm gonna tell your players,
I played at Louisville. I want a national championship. I
played an NBA I coached an NBA All the Above
head coach at North Carolina and t one of the
most pronounced HBCUs in the country. I remember Ballot like
it was yesterday. I'm telling you. Remember getting in trouble

(06:34):
in school. Remember the wins coach Smidt getting after us
not being able to play football, your heartbroken. I just
walking in the doors. I remember every day, graduation day
at Ballart. There's nothing like your high school, just nothing
like it. That's why it's so important that people like
yourself help with these young men. And I don't understand

(06:56):
what they're trying to do, what they're trying to accomplish.
Their life's in front of them, and we're going a
great show, great time. Now, I got William, William, we
should be having callers. They have to call in and
get their games in. Of course, the only score that
I need is the IU Oregon score.

Speaker 3 (07:13):
That is the game.

Speaker 2 (07:15):
Other than that, you've got Oil State at Illinois, Alabama
at Missouri, Oklahoma at Texas are the college game days
that they'll be selecting from. So when they call in,
let me know, William, we'll get them right on. It's
seven thirteen. George Williams will be making his way in.
We've been talking to Nino White, not Nano Brown, Nino White.

(07:37):
I don't want anybody to go there. It have to
be old to understand. Your players would never know. But anyway,
we want to tell them about New Jack City. They
don't know anything about that. They don't know anything about that.
But we're in Athterton High School. We'll be back after
the break. Welcome back to these Sports Radio seven seventeen.

twenty four. We've got, of course, the one and only
Hitman's basketball coach, Coach White, sitting in with us. And
finally my co host arrived. Hey yeah, hey George, it
was a night man, dude. I suck around Brown Boss
doown road. Back to come through Newburg Road. Back to

In with me.

Speaker 3 (10:54):
You hear.

Speaker 2 (10:54):
We've just had an announcement going off and Georgie and
I were just letting him know we've been talking about
Athleton football program for two seasons. How he's turning around.
George comes in and straight tells him when I coached here,
I mean, George is no good.

Speaker 3 (11:07):
Where'd you go.

Speaker 1 (11:10):
To?

Speaker 7 (11:10):
Don't exist no more?

Speaker 9 (11:11):
But we played all y'all during high school where I went,
and great school played.

Speaker 7 (11:19):
All y'all back in the day.

Speaker 9 (11:20):
Matter of fact, Ballace stole our football coach.

Speaker 1 (11:24):
We do things like that. Vallid Nation can do what
we have to do.

Speaker 3 (11:27):
Bob Redan, there you go.

Speaker 2 (11:29):
No, Coach Redman is the one who was trying to
make me play football again when my dad said, no,
I know, coach, coach did a great job. I mean, coach,
he did a great job. You know he went to
Thomasjffson High School. I mean he's a TJ boy. George on,
you don't know anything about Silicon Thomas chefs and George,
just leave that alone.

Speaker 3 (11:46):
Because I went to the grade school of all time.

Speaker 5 (11:48):
Back to us talking about them yellow jackets, yellow jackets.

Speaker 1 (11:54):
But say say that again, George.

Speaker 9 (11:56):
I want George here away in school.

Speaker 3 (11:58):
Still he start talking about it. That's what cause your
school didn't compete for anything.

Speaker 10 (12:03):
Hey, I love that, Kevin exactly. So George turned to
talking about it, said, what your school was out do? Yevin,
let's go, let's get to school. Indiana Oregon is the game.

Speaker 9 (12:18):
Indiana thirty three, Oregon thirty one.

Speaker 1 (12:21):
Okay, let's get that. Are you getting into bush with
me or no?

Speaker 3 (12:25):
Yes? Sir?

Speaker 2 (12:26):
All right, See you've got the wrong winner. Oregon's gonna
beat the breaks off. But I agree with you. That's
the way to win the contest. It is sometimes changed
from everyone else. Everyone has taken organ So I'm taking
the under state.

Speaker 9 (12:42):
So uh, I don't believe they're gonna beat the breaks
off nobody.

Speaker 2 (12:46):
Okay, we're gonna see. I'm going under thirty two. You've
got Indiana thirty three, Oregon thirty one. Correct, yes, sir,
and I took the under with thirty two, Kevin, Ohio
state Illinois.

Speaker 5 (12:59):
Oh, how state?

Speaker 7 (13:00):
It'll do it?

Speaker 1 (13:01):
Alabama at Missouri.

Speaker 6 (13:05):
That's a tough one.

Speaker 3 (13:07):
I'm going. I'm going with Missouri on that one.

Speaker 2 (13:10):
I don't know why more people haven't, because that's the
way you win it.

Speaker 3 (13:14):
Everyone. I'm telling you.

Speaker 2 (13:16):
If I it's oh, I'll say to Alabama Oklahoma. Everybody
has done the same thing. If there's only like two
or three people that have taken Missouri or taken Texas,
Oklahoma and Texas, who.

Speaker 7 (13:27):
Do you like, Yeah, that's Oklahoma at defense.

Speaker 9 (13:30):
He's young manning up.

Speaker 2 (13:32):
Yeah, you know, but a lot of things happened in Dallas.
Just remember it said neutral. They played this game in
Dallas every year.

Speaker 9 (13:41):
They say it's a neutral field.

Speaker 11 (13:43):
But it's in Dallas.

Speaker 3 (13:44):
I don't know it's in Texas.

Speaker 9 (13:46):
Austin is just an hour and a half up the road.

Speaker 2 (13:48):
But no, I agree with you totally. No, it's a
little more than that. It's doing a half up the road. Yeah,
it's doing half. It's a nice little ride from from
Austin the capitol to Dallas.

Speaker 1 (13:57):
I lived in Dallas, Kevin.

Speaker 2 (13:59):
I've got you otter three, six, ten, thirteen games you've
missed unless I missed, and you can inform me you
missed last week.

Speaker 1 (14:06):
I don't have you down. Did you call last week?

Speaker 3 (14:08):
Yeah, I missed it. Travel Okay, that's what I got.

Speaker 2 (14:12):
So anyway, but we've got about ten more weeks, so
just make sure you don't miss Kim, appreciate your brother.

Speaker 1 (14:17):
I've got you down.

Speaker 3 (14:18):
Thank you you too.

Speaker 5 (14:21):
Yeah, coach, I heard you saying coming into the seasons,
you only have three more games left in the total
season in the regular season.

Speaker 3 (14:27):
Wow, y'all went bad fast. This year is crazy.

Speaker 1 (14:29):
An regular season game, So y'all basketball gas.

Speaker 3 (14:31):
No, I go to every game. I go to the
football game.

Speaker 4 (14:34):
Well, I'm just saying, y'all basketball gas though. So y'all
played you know.

Speaker 3 (14:37):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, thirty games.

Speaker 5 (14:39):
But you know, sometimes I'm already ready when the season
is getting ready to wind down. I'm prepared and I'm
ready for the regions to start and I'm matching up.
But it don't seem like it's been that long. I mean,
I seemed like I don't think I missed but one
playoff game, I mean one regular season game.

Speaker 3 (14:54):
Not covering the game this year.

Speaker 4 (14:55):
Yeah, I mean, I just I mean, it's just one
thing about the sport, man, it's so physical, man, you
can't games.

Speaker 5 (15:01):
Yeah, but y'all had I mean, but y'all played a
lot of games. I guess Jepson countyeens to play a
lot of games out of the city this year. I mean,
we played at.

Speaker 1 (15:10):
County, we played Central Harden.

Speaker 5 (15:11):
You know, it's just what I mean because most of
the times I get to see the games, you know,
and this next year y'all played them here, and so
it seems like a longest season to me than it
normally is because I.

Speaker 3 (15:21):
Get to see y'all more every week.

Speaker 1 (15:22):
I'll see you, George. It's Danner Halloween, man.

Speaker 3 (15:26):
Yeah, yeah, I mean it's over. It's what happens Halloween
coming to Yeah. Y'all started early, so.

Speaker 2 (15:33):
They start before the colleges. That's what people don't understand.
I just lost ran in that coach. That's okay, So coach,
tell us something. What is your record? Telling some of
your big wins this year?

Speaker 1 (15:44):
Our record is five and one.

Speaker 4 (15:46):
Uh, I mean we beat some quality opponent Central Harden,
We beat Marcia County. We've Fire and Creek Easter and
those six A programs. Southern six A program lost a
man ya tough hard fall game. We lost twenty one
thirty three, you know, tough game.

Speaker 3 (16:06):
That's a tough.

Speaker 1 (16:06):
But that's a good opponent. Man, it's very.

Speaker 4 (16:08):
Good, very competitive opponent. By County. We played them and
the Screamings too.

Speaker 3 (16:12):
That's a pretty good team. O boy.

Speaker 2 (16:13):
County beat the breaks off ballot. Yeah, they beat the
breaks off ballot two weeks ago.

Speaker 1 (16:17):
Yeh, but we were real school. George Ballad is a
real school coach. No, I get it. You know you
know ding ding George are gonna be rumbling in there.

Speaker 3 (16:26):
He got you.

Speaker 1 (16:26):
You know, I'm in the middle of you say.

Speaker 3 (16:30):
That's what we got to keep our guest coach because
I will slap him so hard.

Speaker 1 (16:34):
He's old.

Speaker 2 (16:35):
Old guys always want to hit somebody. Yeah, how would
come out?

Speaker 5 (16:41):
You're getting ready for the reason? Who some of the
teams that I mean the district. Who you looking at
in your district that could be competitive by I mean.

Speaker 4 (16:47):
We've got a three team district. So we got Baller
of the Night Seneca next week. Of course, the following
weeks are three teams in the district. Then we in
with the old None district with their top four program.
So you know, we've competed with Butler in the district
for the last three years. I've been back to back
district champions. So I mean we kind of running district

(17:09):
right now. We're hoping to keep his thing going.

Speaker 2 (17:11):
Absolutely, George, we both know now you know Seneca's down.
I'm sorry, Oh yeah, they're down, and that old Seneca.
This man got to do with that, James. I know George,
but what you heard him just say that he's running
the district that's been called Seneca's down.

Speaker 3 (17:27):
I want to hear that, coach. Are you kicking tell
and taking names?

Speaker 1 (17:31):
Absolutely?

Speaker 3 (17:31):
But then that's how we worried about Jack.

Speaker 1 (17:32):
Coach.

Speaker 2 (17:33):
Well, you're an athleteon man now, yes, you flip your
script so quick.

Speaker 3 (17:38):
Family to graduate from here.

Speaker 1 (17:39):
So I'm family graduates from everywhere.

Speaker 3 (17:41):
I remember when coach was coaching as a young man, Jase,
I'm a back. Yeah. He ain't taking no name, Jeed,
but he is kicking.

Speaker 1 (17:47):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (17:47):
He was an assistant at ballid Nation. Just so you'll know, George, Well,
thank you, and that's why, thank you. That's why he
left Jack.

Speaker 3 (17:54):
We didn't like it either, were.

Speaker 1 (17:55):
Seven twenty seven? Is he sports Radio?

Speaker 2 (17:58):
We've got of course, George Williams. We've got Nino White, Coach.
We're gonna be bringing on some of your players after
the break, coach, so I want you to start lining
them up and getting them ready and bringing them in.

Speaker 1 (18:09):
Sure, I appreciate your man, and thanks for coming by. Man.
Door was always open for you.

Speaker 3 (18:14):
Well, coach, I'll bet you next game.

Speaker 5 (18:15):
I bet the Seneca game, the game that ja said
the team not to to show me what you're about.

Speaker 3 (18:19):
Okay, I want to see what you're about. No mercy route.

Speaker 1 (18:21):
Nope, I ain't showing no mercy all.

Speaker 3 (18:23):
Right, Jah, my coach, this is my coach, your baby.

Speaker 2 (18:26):
As you say, teams should not beat the breaks off
other teams.

Speaker 1 (18:30):
You just said no mercy route.

Speaker 5 (18:31):
Well, Jed, I wouldn't have said that until you came
up and talk all that trash about what what coaching.
But I want to coaches to let us know what
the Seneca can do help me. I can do.

Speaker 6 (23:53):
Mm hmm.

Speaker 5 (23:54):
Hold on, like, let me say this to him. You're
talking about what he's gonna do. Ja, This young man
is gonna be an engineer. You know, he's getting looking
at a big school.

Speaker 6 (24:05):
I want to major engineering. Excellent, Yeah, pathway.

Speaker 3 (24:10):
He picked some schools are you looking at already looking

Speaker 2 (24:23):
But for you to want to be an engineer and
to get to this point, Mom and dad done a
great job with you.

Speaker 3 (24:28):
Sure.

Speaker 1 (24:29):
I love the way you look, how you carry yourself.

Speaker 3 (24:33):
Uh, just keep talking. You're good.

Speaker 6 (24:37):
I'm just nervous.

Speaker 3 (24:38):
That's you're gonna be his coach.

Speaker 1 (24:42):
Tell me a little bit about his parents, Coach, I.

Speaker 4 (24:43):
Mean you got two parents, Mom and dad supportive. You know, Dad,
he's a dad and he loves on him hard. He's
very support you know. Moms as her boy. You know
what I'm saying. You know, he's the one baby boy.
Like I said, they support him every step of the way.
They're here on Friday nights. You know that call if
is any issues with them, hold him accountable for his actions.

Speaker 1 (25:05):
Excellent thus far. They they raised him the right way.

Speaker 4 (25:08):
You know, know bad you know habits if you want
to say that absolute high school kid walk.

Speaker 1 (25:14):
The straight line. None of the devices and none of
the devices.

Speaker 4 (25:18):
Like I said, you know, I'm grateful to thankful to
have those type parents in my school program.

Speaker 2 (25:23):
So you know, playing wise, what is your strength runner pass.

Speaker 1 (25:31):
Or what is your strength.

Speaker 6 (25:34):
I'm a pocket passer.

Speaker 8 (25:36):
I can't I can't roll out and get a little
first down just needed. I've been working on my speed lately,
and yeah, pretty much.

Speaker 2 (25:47):
What do you have to do tonight to Butler to
win this game? What are you gonna have to execute?

Speaker 8 (25:52):
I'm going to so usually I go for the deep balls,
but I'm gonna, you know, check down on my checkdown
as if it's open. Just keep my composure up and
my teammates up, you know, communicate, communicate with my teammates.

Speaker 1 (26:11):
Yeah, coach, is.

Speaker 3 (26:14):
That the game plan?

Speaker 2 (26:16):
Always looking for the long ball, but we will check
off if we have to get the running back out
of the backfield.

Speaker 4 (26:21):
You know, we got take change, absolutely, maintain drives, you know,
take what they give us, you know, but if it's
take the shot. If not, take it down, let your
guys make the place, you know what I mean. He's
a he's a he's a live on strong arm, so
he trusts his own but he knows how I can
throw a thing, so he's gonna take the shots with it.

Speaker 1 (26:38):
But we got guys that can stretched the field and
go get it. So I totally.

Speaker 4 (26:42):
Understand why he does it at times, you know what
I'm saying, But we got to get him used to
you know that might not be there. Come on back
down here, take the short Let your guys make a plan.

Speaker 1 (26:50):
Go make somebody miss George.

Speaker 3 (26:51):
What do you think?

Speaker 1 (26:52):
What do you think, George?

Speaker 5 (26:53):
Well, yeah, I think to take that good shot. Been
talking to the young man. He's impressed me a whole lot.
You know, it seems like he's prepared for life. Seem
like he's looking ahead of just being in school. And
what I love a lot about him, Jerry, is that
he's got his academics and de solidly that you know
that that's what I prepare is aw as a young
man prepared academically. So we know his family's got to

(27:13):
be solid because they got him in a solid maid
that most people are scared to do what he's trying
to do, being an engineered and build America and make
a strong And he said he can make a bow.

Speaker 3 (27:22):
So I'm coming out next week Jared watching. I want
to make let him see what he can do.

Speaker 5 (27:25):
You know, I mean he's a little nervous here, but
I won't see if he gets nervous on that field.
Coach say they take nine. They call it the Big A.
I want to see if he lives up to the
Big A reputation.

Speaker 1 (27:33):
Well, I can't tell you.

Speaker 2 (27:34):
This University of Louis has got the best speed school
in the country. Just know that great engineering school right
up the street. Don't overlook the Cardinals. That's all I'm
telling you. It's E Sports Radio where it's seven point forty.

the office quite a bit when he was in high school,
so quin.

Speaker 1 (28:21):

Speaker 3 (28:22):

Speaker 1 (28:56):
We're rolling? Good?

Speaker 9 (28:58):
Hey, pardon, I.

Speaker 1 (29:01):
Hit me quick because we've got I've got to get
to Okay.

Speaker 9 (29:04):
Well, back in the day when Trendy's, when I was
at Trinity, we played our home games at Anderton because
our field wasn't you know, wasn't gready to go. But
and that's a neat place to play. You go down
in that valley, it's just it's a it's a it's
a pretty neat place to play. But the main reason
I'm calling is that I heard there's gonna be a
pita uh presence out at the ballor tonight. And I

(29:29):
didn't know what you say.

Speaker 3 (29:30):
I told you.

Speaker 1 (29:31):
This is why I don't like him. This is why
Principal lafloresad Doctor Laflores sit right next to me.

Speaker 2 (29:36):
This is why I don't like the guy. I told
you we were gonna hear about Trinity. I knew it
was coming.

Speaker 3 (29:41):
Are you talking about the pig farm, Bubba?

Speaker 1 (29:42):
Yeah, he's talking about Yeah, you get my next call
it Bubba.

Speaker 9 (29:47):
Okay, but let me say one more thing. There there's uh,
there's going to be a pork sail down at River
Road Barbecue. They got a deal going on down there
tomorrow because they bought all the excess pork. So I'll
are you Are you going to be there tonight.

Speaker 1 (30:03):
I'm going to stick my head in tonight. Yes, Bama,
so sick.

Speaker 9 (30:06):
I'll be stating about the gate waiting on you.

Speaker 3 (30:08):
I'll see you later later, Bye.

Speaker 1 (30:11):
Ron, welcome to the show. Bring some sanity back, please
right God?

Speaker 11 (30:15):
Well, okay, I will, you will. But I'll just say
one thing. Congratulations to the cold Chared Afterton. He spent
two years at He spent two years at the Pig
farm and said, I got to get out of here
and go build and go.

Speaker 1 (30:28):
Man.

Speaker 2 (30:28):
Everybody's killing Ballance. They got Ballanty the pig farm. Doc
Floyd's just not right there. I'm brewing nation, though, I
stand up.

Speaker 3 (30:35):
He's a cubby nation. Go ahead, Ron, let's get these
scores in.

Speaker 11 (30:38):
Brother, I you, I got my nunt. Patty's for you. Okay,
we'll do Patty first. She wants Indiana thirty twenty seven.

Speaker 3 (30:48):
It's it is.

Speaker 1 (30:50):
Twenty seven, and she's in the briars bush with me.

Speaker 3 (30:54):
Yes, always going under. I'm going under.

Speaker 1 (30:57):
Okay, okay, Well, how state Illinois for Patty?

Speaker 3 (31:00):
She wants Ohio.

Speaker 2 (31:01):
State, Alabama at Missouri, she wants Bama, Oklahoma, Texas.

Speaker 11 (31:08):
He wants Oklahoma.

Speaker 1 (31:10):
Gotcha, Let's go to yours? Are you Oklahoma?

Speaker 3 (31:12):
All right?

Speaker 11 (31:14):
I'm gonna take Oregon twenty eight twenty seven?

Speaker 2 (31:18):
Okay, let me look, that's good. I've got to look
around on that one. Run that sounds familiar.

Speaker 3 (31:23):
With a technical system here, that's familiar.

Speaker 1 (31:32):
You're good.

Speaker 2 (31:32):
Run Okay, Okay, I'm taking the over twenty nine Ohio State.

Speaker 11 (31:38):
Illinois, Ryan, I'll take Oaho State.

Speaker 2 (31:42):
Alabama, Missouri, Bama. That's the taste should have taken Missouri
Ryan to Texas.

Speaker 11 (31:52):
I'll take Texas, excellent.

Speaker 2 (31:55):
Ron, We've got you down, appreciate your brother that it
was a pleasure, and leave ballot Nation alone. And so
everybody gangs up on me. So, Doc, you've got a
magnet program here. Let's talk about that a little bit.
What's going on that Atherton?

Speaker 1 (32:11):
Okay?

Speaker 13 (32:11):
So well, Atherton is the only international Baccalaureate Magnet program
in JCPS for one of just four in the entire
state of Kentucky.

Speaker 12 (32:19):
It is a worldwide academic program.

Speaker 13 (32:23):
It is known as the most rigorous high school diploma
that any student in the entire world can achieve. And
so we have that program here. We have I think
about thirty kids in line to be what they call
full IB diploma candidates.

Speaker 12 (32:40):
But we're an IB world school, so every single one.

Speaker 13 (32:43):
Of our kids takes a minimum of two IB courses
before they graduate. And so we're kind of that that
diamond in the rough, if you will. We're kind of
that unknown.

Speaker 2 (32:55):
So true we hear about Male High School, You're so right,
we are about manual.

Speaker 1 (32:59):
I did not know that about it.

Speaker 12 (33:00):
We're actually top ten in the state.

Speaker 13 (33:03):
We've been named to the US News and World Reports
Best High School's List for thirteen years in a row
and running.

Speaker 12 (33:09):
Congratulations, So we're kind of one of those if you know,
you know, and.

Speaker 1 (33:13):
You know, congratulation. I appreciate you're so right. What is secret?

Speaker 2 (33:17):
I did not know that, No, I did. I didn't
even know you were a magnet program.

Speaker 13 (33:21):
Yeah, we are a district wide magnet program, or one
of the few district wide magnet programs for that that
high academics, and so that's one of those things that
we pair with you. You heard Thearius a little bit
earlier talking about his his engineering dreams. So we actually
are also the only school that's a dual magnet in
an Academies of Louisville school. So we offer a full

(33:42):
engineering pathway, health sciences pathway, and media arts pathway. So
you're you're sitting here and you've got me on the media.
This is something that I do on the regular with
my kids. But kids like Darius, and you know, hundreds
of kids like him, are actually in a four year
engineering pathway and so they regularly go out to business
partners ups, Republic airways, things like that and meet mentors

(34:05):
and get hands on experience in college credit while they're here.

Speaker 5 (34:08):
Congratulations, I got a baby girl to graduate from ATHING,
So I already know about Afterton, you know, that's one
of the reason we did. And they also have one
of the smaller class as of almost any schools in
Jefson County. So I know a lot about the academics Afteritude.
And how long has your program been in the national program?
How did y'all get selected for that?

Speaker 13 (34:25):
We've been an international baccalaureate program since the early eighties,
so over forty years we're pushing up I think on
your fifty here in the next probably about forty five
years now we've been in IB.

Speaker 3 (34:37):
Well, it's fantastic, so fantastic, amazing.

Speaker 1 (34:40):
How long have you been here?

Speaker 12 (34:41):
This is my fifth year?

Speaker 3 (34:43):
Yeah, you know, doctor.

Speaker 5 (34:45):
I'd like to say if a lot of Jeffson County
families knew what you would guys really do in the
educational system, I think we would be more impressed than
every time we could talk about you.

Speaker 3 (34:53):
We talk about how much money you don't have.

Speaker 5 (34:55):
But with you guys accomplishing academically with our students and
putting them in a world class facilities and stuff like that,
I think it's so fantastic about what you're doing, and
I think you need to be recognized about the academics
that's going on in Jesson County as well.

Speaker 12 (35:08):
As I appreciate that.

Speaker 13 (35:09):
Yeah, I mean we do, and you know, I'm proud
of what we do at Atherton. But you know, these
stories are at every JCPS.

Speaker 3 (35:14):
Yes, I know, That's what I'm saying.

Speaker 13 (35:15):
Yeah, So you know, well, I'm always gonna tellt with
thank you for that. There are great things going on
in every single TXPS high school every single day.

Speaker 1 (35:24):
You're all the negativity, That's what I'm saying there.

Speaker 13 (35:27):
You go, well, well, the great things don't sell stories, right,
so they don't sell commercially exactly, So.

Speaker 1 (35:33):
How many students do we have?

Speaker 2 (35:34):
It?

Speaker 1 (35:34):
After that? And we are.

Speaker 12 (35:36):
Busting at the seam.

Speaker 13 (35:37):
So here in the spring, we're going to open up
a twenty thousand square foot edition to kind of help
with our space. We're our capacity is about twelve hundred
and I have close to fifteen hundred and fifty kids
here right now, and so it's becoming a little bit
less of a secret and we're kind of busting at

(35:58):
the seam. So I'm really looking forward to adding twelve
new classrooms, twenty thousand square feet.

Speaker 2 (36:03):
We need so yeah, extended. You have a college basketball
floor here now. I walked in and saw that.

Speaker 1 (36:09):
It's beautiful.

Speaker 12 (36:10):
Yeah, we do well.

Speaker 13 (36:11):
You know, one of the things I believe is is
we're gonna be competitive academically, and we do that for
the kids. You know, I want our kids to have
every opportunity available to them when we leave. I meet
with every senior every year and I tell them that
as a parent, I want their Atherton diplomba to stand
for something.

Speaker 12 (36:28):
You know, there's six thousand other kids graduating in.

Speaker 13 (36:31):
Twenty twenty six this year, and I want our four
hundred kids to stand out. And so what's going to
be different. So we actually are number one of the
state and post secondary readiness and so like just yesterday
we had a college fair. We had everything from Ivy
League universities here represented regional local universities all the way
down to your trade schools and then straight into job

(36:52):
because we want kids to have those opportunities. But speaking
of that too, we're going to be competitive academically those kids.

Speaker 12 (36:58):
You know it, Athletics works right along with it.

Speaker 13 (37:01):
You know, you all know that if you were an
athlete that develops everything around you, and so we're trying
to give you know, world class facilities. So we have
we've expanded, We've got college dimensions. We actually are back
on the back fifty acres. We just opened up a
brand new softball complex. It's the only turf softball field
in Louisville plays at college dimensions as well. So we're

(37:26):
we're trying also to give the best of the best
opportunities to our student athletes.

Speaker 2 (37:30):
You all are listening to doctor Stephie, floor principal at
Atherton High School. We're sitting in the locker room. Their
football team is doing a fantastic job this season. Lost
one game. Great job only.

Speaker 13 (37:41):
Great job, Yeah, yes, doing a great job, you know, gosh,
and we were in it.

Speaker 1 (37:46):
We were in it the whole time.

Speaker 3 (37:47):
We've made a.

Speaker 12 (37:48):
Five point game and we had the dagon ball.

Speaker 13 (37:51):
So, you know, I think when you're putting yourself in
a position to be in those games and to win
