Speaker 1 (00:01):
Welcome back to EVE Sports Radio. Yes, it is October sixteenth,
twenty twenty five. It's Thursday, beautiful day outside.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
Just so you'll know, I'm sitting outside of Commonwealth Dodge
on Pressed Highway. Yes, Billy Hayes's place. Gotta get an
oil change, get my truck taken care of.

Speaker 1 (00:22):
But before then, I've got to take care of you all,
and we've got a lot of business at hand, quite
a bit.

Speaker 2 (00:29):
First thing that I have to tell you, it's just.

Speaker 1 (00:31):
Myself, So there are no co hosts, no backseat drivers,
no one telling me when to turn right or left,
just myself. The phone number to call in which you
have to do today is five zero two five seven
one seventy nine hundred. That's five zero two five to
seven one seventy nine hundred. That's Sports Talk seven ninety KRD.

(00:54):
We've got Shannon behind the glass waiting for your calls.
We've got to get them all in today because I'll
be traveling tomorrow to the lovely Miami, one of my
favorite cities. Beautiful, it's just attractive, the water, the beach,
the weather, and I'm gonna play golf. I'm gonna beat Scott,
so no matter what he said. So it's just gonna

(01:16):
be a fantastic day tomorrow. So there will be a
best of show being played tomorrow. I'll be back live
on Monday. So knowing that you'll have to get your
scores in, let me tell you again, quite a few
people send me emails yesterday.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
Or called me.

Speaker 1 (01:35):
I've got their scores in, which I may go through
today if I have time.

Speaker 2 (01:40):
We do know that it's seven point forty.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
We have got Lee Sterling, so I have to get
all three of my breaks in before Lee comes on.
So make sure that between now and that time you
get your scores in. But these are the games again,
just so you'll know. The game that matters is Louisville Miami.
Louisville's biggest game of the season. Their only chance to
really defeat a ranked opponent on their schedule is tomorrow

(02:07):
Texas at Kentucky, Michigan State at IU, Oldness at Georgia,
and Tennessee at Alabama to the better quarterbacks in the
SEC going at it. We'll talk about that a little
bit also, So those are the games that you must
get in today, So pick your phone up. Five zero two,

(02:29):
five seven, one seventy nine hundred is the number you called.
Shannel will answer and let me know who's on. We'll
get your.

Speaker 2 (02:35):
Scores in this week since there was no winter last week.
Seventy five dollars. If you do not.

Speaker 1 (02:43):
Get into briars bust with me. I understand people kind
of get they don't come out of the briar's pats
very well. Now I did pay one hundred and fifty
dollars two weeks ago.

Speaker 2 (02:56):
That was luck.

Speaker 1 (02:57):
Greg has cast his check. He's a big Tennessee guy.
It's not gonna happen, and Tennessee will go down this weekend.

Speaker 2 (03:04):
Tennessee will fall, Alabama will beat them. But that's just
for great he did. He cashed my check, he took
a picture of it, send it to the bank.

Speaker 1 (03:13):
I can't believe that, and kept my checks, framing my
check so that he can always look at it and
say I scathed the brand.

Speaker 2 (03:21):
So that's okay, that's okay.

Speaker 1 (03:23):
But if you get into a bush with me, and
when it's one hundred and fifty dollars day, I can't
beat that, that's a good day. So if you do not,
it's a seventy five dollars. If you do and you
defeat me.

Speaker 2 (03:37):
Thank you. It'll be one hundred and fifty dollars. That's
so funny. Let you know that everybody wants this money
because my first caller is the one and only, my
loved one, my wife, Sheila. Welcome to the jar, you baby,
I'm good, you bab you just called it. Tell me
you love me? Is that what you call me to

Speaker 1 (04:53):
I just want everybody to know. You're supposed to be
going to Miami with me. But Republic came first. They said,
everybody all hands on, Dick, and you can't go. I
won't be able to know my wife was going. I
lost the first class ticket. Well I didn't lose it,
but I had to get a credit for it because
my wife wouldn't.

Speaker 2 (05:09):
Get on the plane with me.

Speaker 3 (05:10):

Speaker 1 (05:48):

like them, but I broke her Walter move, he did.

Speaker 2 (05:55):

Speaker 2 (06:00):

show and I think it's Indiana's homecoming this week. Walter
is coming in, Yes, from Washington, DC. He's coming in.
Played he was the.

Speaker 1 (06:13):
First black quarterback at Baalor, so everyone will know. Got
his NBA from Temple. He's been my broker for forty
plus years. And he played at IU. And I told
everybody I went to a college football game. Indiana was
recruiting me. They played Nebraska and they just ran over Walter.
I mean, baby was embarrassing his wife. Seane, his girlfriend

(06:36):
then which is his wife today of fifty years, was
in there putting ice all over him.

Speaker 2 (06:41):
I said, I don't know how you do this to yourself.

you want to do. As long as you win. You

SEC did nothing to Kirby smart.

Speaker 1 (10:03):
I have nothing good to say at they have. I
don't know about it. Maybe Shannon will know. Asking during

that doesn't care about anything. Keep pushing Louis of Miami,
score Max.

Speaker 4 (22:15):
You know I can't go against my cards. You know
the cards are gonna pull it out down there.

Speaker 5 (22:19):
Jeff Brown lives.

Speaker 4 (22:20):
For these moments. He lived for him, so he's gonna
go down there and he's gonna with some hurricanes.

Speaker 2 (22:26):
Okay, give me that true with you and let's go with.

Speaker 4 (22:33):
Let's go thirty four to twenty seven.

Speaker 1 (22:39):
Okay. I will definitely take the under Louivill wins. They're
gonna have to do it defensively. They're not gonna outscore Miami,
They're not. They cannot run the ball, which I can't
believe that our strength going into this season was the
running of the ball. And you know that's true. We
cannot I'm be passing it almost thirty times a half.
We can't run the ball. I mean, that's just a problem.

(23:01):
So I'm taking the under. I think you got the
wrong winner, but I've got you down. I just don't
see it happening. I don't. You're about the third person
to select Louisville, so you're not the only one.

Speaker 2 (23:12):
Texas at Kintonby it's longhorns.

Speaker 4 (23:16):
I'm not doing blue longhorns.

Speaker 2 (23:20):
Okay, Michigan State at IU.

Speaker 5 (23:24):
I you all the way.

Speaker 2 (23:27):
I is good this year, man, they're good. Ole Miss
at Georgia.

Speaker 5 (23:34):
Let's go Georgia.

Speaker 2 (23:38):
After that last week's call, I can't stand it. Tennessee
at Alabama.

Speaker 4 (23:43):
Let's go road Tide, Alabama road Tide.

Speaker 2 (23:47):
Well, I've got you down, and like plate.

Speaker 4 (23:52):
I'll give you a nice little place to eat at Jerry.
I was down there last week. The Hen in the Hog,
good little local.

Speaker 2 (24:00):
What is that low.

Speaker 4 (24:02):
Right there outside of Hollywood, Florida.

Speaker 1 (24:06):
That's why I stay, I said, one South coach and Drive.
I'm twenty four oh one South Oachan Drive. I'm close
to that the.

Speaker 2 (24:13):
Hen in the Hall. I'm gonna go there, and I
promise you twenty people.

Speaker 4 (24:19):
Yep, really good food, man, you'll love it.

Speaker 2 (24:22):
Okay, appreciate it. Thank you, Brandon.

Speaker 4 (24:25):
Save out there.

Speaker 2 (24:29):
I will.

Speaker 1 (24:30):
It's seven thirty six, guys. I've got about two minutes.
My email so that yes, can you email me? Is
J L E A V E S five five five
at yahoo dot com. I am playing a best of tomorrow,
so I'll may take one more call if they call
in Shannon, but after that you'll have to email me

(24:51):
at J L as in the Lee E A V
E S five five five at yahoo dot com.

Speaker 2 (24:58):
Now here's the thing I want to talk about before
we go to LEEH. Sterling. We've always talked about scheduling
and how basketball teams don't play anybody in the first
two months of the season, and unless it's a classic,
they're just cakewalks. Not this year for either team. Kentucky

(25:19):
and Louisville have great schedules. We've got great basketball right
around the corner, and I do. Rid and I were
giving each other hard time. I can't believe that the
game is being played on over and B eleventh before
the football game. I can't. I really can't. I'm being honest.

Speaker 6 (25:33):
I can't.

Speaker 2 (25:35):
I know that Louisville couldn't just strong arm Kentucky. I
know that also, I know that there had to be
some negotiation. I just don't know how they came about
this date.

Speaker 1 (25:45):
I don't but November the eleventh, We've got to Kentucky
at Louisville.

Speaker 2 (25:50):
Kentucky's got Michigan State on the eighteenth of November, North
Carolina on December the second, Gonzaga on December the Come
on now, guys, Saint John's on December the twentieth, They've
got They're not a really, really tough schedule. I mean,
this is both teams. Louisville.

Speaker 1 (26:11):
Like I told you, no one is talking about strength
of schedule for either one of these teams this year.
So this is what I want to tell all the
fans where we get to break and I've got to go.
If your team drops a few games, don't go crazy
on the coach. Coach cron, we dropped a few games.
That's all there is to it. But when you play
this kind of competition, two things happen. It improves your team,

(26:34):
and second thing, it makes those expensive tickets that people
are buying worthwhile to come watch those own games. Two things.
So don't complain. Be happy that your team is playing
real competition. I don't like as many of the classics,
Kentucky that you play in a lot of classics.

Speaker 2 (26:49):
Everybody wants Kentucky and their classics, so they're not at RUP.
I wish they'd hold more of their games at RUP
to make those expensive tickets worth it. That's all for
both teams, but god, they're playing wonderful competition, so be
happy with the athletic directors and your coaches. Even if
you don't win them all, your team will benefit at
the end. Channel, let's get the break. We'll be back

(27:11):
with Lee Sterling. This is E Sports Radio. Talk to
you all on Monday. I'm not taking any more calls.
There'll be a best of show play tomorrow. Welcome back
to East Sports Radio, guys, seven forty three. We got
the one and only Lee Sterley four and one two
weeks ago, three one in one last week. He's on
a roll. Lee, Welcome to VE Sports Radio. Are you

(27:34):
I'm good? I'm good to hear you. No, I'm leaving
tomorroming here. No, I get him tomorrow morning. Take that.
I take the six o'clock light and landed eight thirty five. Yep,
you're ruling, you're rolling yep, we are seven.

Speaker 6 (27:51):
And there's been a lot of haw about this on Sundays.
Last four Sundays we've gone five and oh five and
oh five know and I'm sorry four and one nineteen one. No,
you're rolling.

Speaker 2 (28:06):
At the beginning of the season, you had to get
your feet wet, you were a little but you are rolling.
You've turned this thing all the way around.

Speaker 1 (28:13):
So now, Lee, before we jump into everything, why do
you not do you not mess with baseball?

Speaker 2 (28:18):
Very often he goes a blue.

Speaker 6 (28:20):
Jay's beat, Oh, no, we do baseball. It's there's a
lot of people don't bet baseball here. You know. It's
because it's not with points.

Speaker 2 (28:28):
You know.

Speaker 6 (28:29):
For instance, let's say you wanted Seattle last night, you
have to lay give me you for instance, minus one sixty,
so you have to lay one hundred and sixty to
win one hundred. You can also play it on the
money line. You can bet, you know, laying one and
a half runs or taking one and a half runs,

(28:49):
and you can also take obviously the over unders. So
it's it's different old school people. You know, a lot
of people from New York Chicago, they understand they bet.
They grew up betting it if you're the new schools.
It's too slow a sport for people and they want action,

(29:09):
and so you know, it's it's still popular. But I
stopped for probably fifteen eighteen years, and it was only
it was less than ten percent of my income. So
I'm like, well, why am I killing myself working every
day when I can take off the summer and just
start studying football. And then I found someone that was

(29:31):
proficient in doing it, and so he does it with me.
So we built it back up.

Speaker 2 (29:36):
There.

Speaker 5 (29:36):
You go ahead, and I didn't know.

Speaker 1 (29:38):
That's great information though, thank you. They let's jump into it.
I U Michigan State. I think it's I use homecoming.
My broker's coming in from Multiple I think it's his homecoming.
So what's going on? What's your prediction?

Speaker 6 (29:51):
Well, well, Michigan is going to be every team's homecoming
for looks like a few years. And let's say turn
things around. What about Gayden Schilds went down with an
injury after a rough hit. I think it's the best
fifty to fifty he plays, So, uh, even if he plays,
he's nowhere close to one hundred percent. IU has no

(30:15):
one tough left. Listen to who they have left Michigan
State this week, Ucla, Maryland, Penn State, Wisconsin, and Purdue.
It looks like, I mean, you know, obviously Ohio State
has Michigan at the end of the year. Those two
teams are like on a con collision course for a
Big Ten championship. And and the winner, let's say they're

(30:37):
sitting one and two, one and three, the winner is
going to still be a top four seed unless they lose,
you know, by thirty forty points. So that's the way
it's setting up. They're also six and two against the spread.
Spread the last eight is a double digit favorite. Sometimes
you got to lay it if you want to play
at IU here forty five to fifteen, gotcha.

Speaker 2 (30:56):
Yes they're very good. The Oregan game man pressing, they're
very good.

Speaker 1 (31:00):
But yes, it's a it's a crazy year that you
just said Penn State's no good.

Speaker 2 (31:05):
Can they resurrect themselves quickly? Can they resurrect themselves?

Speaker 6 (31:09):
Not without their quarterback? I mean, really think about it.

Speaker 2 (31:12):
Their backup quarterbacks.

Speaker 6 (31:14):
Their backup quarterback left to Missouri, So really they're playing
by the third string quarterback. And here's what happens. He's
coaches no matter, they'll say whatever they want to say. Yeah,
they're showing up a practice. Behind the scenes, they're trying
to get jobs. They're trying to get job lined up
for next year.

Speaker 2 (31:28):
Don't tell them my business.

Speaker 6 (31:30):
You've seen it in the pro game, right.

Speaker 2 (31:33):
Your phone lines are on fire, exactly. Trying to fight
your next occupaction. All right, next job, no question, Next
job up for Penn State Duke at Georgia Tech. Duke
at Georgia Tech. Good quarterback at Duke Georgia Tech's very good.

Speaker 6 (31:47):
Yep, yep. So here's the standings. Georgia Tech Duke in
Virginia all sitting at three and oh. After behind them
is SMU at two and oh Mimi at one and oh.
Big game here because if either team loses, they're probably
gonna have a tough time getting back in the hunt
here for the ACC Championship. What's interesting, Yeah, they have

(32:09):
a nice offense. They throw the ball, they can't run
at all. They were out gained by one hundred and
seventeen yards in their game against n C State, cal
scored three touchdowns to first three possessions. Georgia Tech offense
completely different animal than what they faced. Run based team
quarterback Haines King more of a runner than a passer.

(32:30):
Only's run for four touchdowns, but four hundred and forty
yards rushing over five yards of carrying. He's run rushed
for nine touchdowns. Dukes d gave up. Get this thirty
three to NC State, thirty four to two lane, forty
five to Illinois, and those two lane in Illinoi's games wrong.
We're on the we're at home where this game is.

(32:52):
Georgia Tech's the right side thirty four to twenty six.

Speaker 2 (32:55):
Yes, I agree with you. I like Georgia Tech.

Speaker 1 (32:57):
I told you I like Georgia Tech early On'll do
Georgia at Ole Miss. And I mean after that call
they gave Kirby, I'm so upset with them. The SEC
needs to do something. I mean, God, you just can't
lie on national TV. And he did and he benefited
from him. What do you think Georgia ole Miss?

Speaker 6 (33:15):
Yeah, I mean, and they spent over ten minutes, spent
over ten minutes. Jerry didn't get right, I mean, and
didn't get it right. That's why they have to have
a That's why they have to have to have a
command center make the call, not the official on the field.
I mean, someone asked me one time. You know what's
going on with coaches, what's going on with officials?

Speaker 2 (33:33):
Coaches?

Speaker 6 (33:34):
These are glorified pe coaches with these guys, I mean,
you're not talking about the brains of the world. Most
of these guys, let's be honest. You know, they played
they played football, they got bees if they were a
great student, mainly ces somehow graduated with a glorified degree.
And the officials they start officiating once they get in.

(33:57):
They're not getting kicked out because who's great under officials
from the same conference who were tired. It's a good
old boy network. So if this game, if Georgia lost
this game last week and ole Miss had won big,
this line's sitting at two and a half, three sitting
at seven and a half. You're getting four to four

(34:17):
and a half points here of value. Pay no attention
to ole Miss's you know, the close game against watching
his eighth. They were prepared, they were preparing, they were
preparing for Georgia and Oklahoma. Georgia is at home and
already is lost there. I think ole Miss quarterback trend

(34:39):
to that Chamblissa's something special. He is making his first
road start, so probably an outright win. Is probably a
tall task, leen, especially when you're playing the officials two here.
But at Georgia winning twenty six, twenty four. But I'm
taking the seven and a half points. It wouldn't shock
me if they went out right.

Speaker 2 (34:57):
Oh, miss excellent, miss excellent. That's great information, really good information.
Texas at Kentucky. My son's going to that game, Texas.
I'm going to the Miami game.

Speaker 6 (35:09):
Right, So Texas crossroads here they do they build a
momentum that they gained last week. Here's what's going on.
Kentucky's playing a lot of young players. I mean, they
know they need experience with these guys have had some injuries,
and they're just making mistakes. I think Texas by far

(35:30):
is the more talented team. And we've seen the young
Kentucky quarterback throw a lot of interceptions here, make a
lot of bad decisions.

Speaker 5 (35:37):
I think they're just this is this is a.

Speaker 6 (35:39):
Class difference here. Texas thirty eight thirteen.

Speaker 1 (35:44):
Kentucky just can't score. I agree, that's just they have
a hard time putting points on the board this year.

Speaker 6 (35:50):
Miami Louisville, you and I yep, yep, all right, So
Miami is rolling, uh, talent wise, more talent than Louisville.
We know that Miller Moss is probably gonna throw a
pick or two. He's good for that when you get
in his face. And these two defensive ends I think grating.

(36:12):
I looked last week, they were one and two on
Pro Football Focus all the edge rushers one and two
in the country. So there's gonna be guys in his
face here. They've got to run the ball and stay
at a long down and distant situation. But the road
team has covered one and covered the last three meetings.
I don't know if Louisville can pull off the upset here.

(36:36):
I mean, it's gonna be it's gonna be a big,
big game here for Miami. Their their focus has been there.
Their defense is much much better than last year. But
Louisville has playmakers. I have Miami winning this game here
thirty one twenty two, So I think that that the
thirteen half points just a little too much. I have
Louisville covering, but it's gonna be tough to beat Miami

(36:57):
at home.

Speaker 2 (36:58):
This is a problem.

Speaker 1 (37:00):
A hard time running the ball, which was supposed to
be their strength. Now they've got Miller Mass throwing at
fifty times. And if Miller malls to throw the ball
fifty times, he's gonna throw two interceptions.

Speaker 2 (37:10):
That's gonna happen.

Speaker 6 (37:11):
Yep, So what happened.

Speaker 2 (37:12):
Louiville's running game. Offensive line is just not there.

Speaker 6 (37:17):
Not as good, and that's good. The defensive line is
gonna have to play really well. Defensive line has a
lot of talent, as we know for Louisville, and they
forced a couple of those interceptions from Eli Holesting in
that Pittsburgh game, didn't do it against Virginia. So they're gonna,
I mean, they're gonna be Hey, this is their season,
this is Louisville season. They lose this game, pretty much,

(37:38):
season's over. You know, they played three straight week, they
played the dregs of the world, Boston College, Virginia Tech,
and Cal and you know, then they'll get ready, you know,
for for some games against Clemson, SMU and of course Kentucky.

Speaker 5 (37:52):
But this is it.

Speaker 6 (37:53):
They're gonna They're gonna throw the kitchen sink at Miami.
We'll probably see a trick play here, maybe on a kickoff.
I'm sure we're going to see a reverse pass or
something like that or two. But yeah, Miller moss is.
I mean, there's a reason why he's not the quarterback
still at USC.

Speaker 2 (38:10):
Got you. Here's a question, someone asked me, and I'm
gonna ask you. You may not have seen it, but
coach brom is the propendency to go for it on
fourth down. I mean, it doesn't matter what the field
position is. He's gone for it in the first quarter,
second quarter, third quarter, He's gone for it on fourth down.
I had a person here at time. Will Dodge asked me.
He says, why didn't he go for it on fourth

(38:31):
and two? In last week's game against Virginia. He said,
I'd rather got to beat on.

Speaker 1 (38:36):
A field go by three, then Louisville kicking the field
goal and losing with the touchdown.

Speaker 2 (38:41):
What do you think? He asked. When they asked me,
I was like, that's a good question. Why didn't he
go for it on down?

Speaker 6 (38:48):
We were watching the game friends of mine, and we
said the same thing. That's that's a game you gotta
you gotta go for it. And like I said, you
don't got to run the football. If if Miller Moss
is throwing the football that much, you know what they
say when you throw the football? Uh, two out of
three times bad things happen incomplete interception. Third, obviously you
complete it. But uh, he's just he's just not he's

(39:11):
just not good enough probably beat a team of this
caliber here. So yes, yeah, but it is Brown. Brown's
gotta have a big game.

Speaker 2 (39:20):
You know.

Speaker 6 (39:20):
Brown's gonna be fired up playing at home here in
his hometown.

Speaker 2 (39:23):
He's beat up, though, you do hopefully he's gotten well.
He was beat up in the Virginia game, right, he
was bringing taking himself out of the olymping. He's really
beat up. But I just wonder because the decision making
coach Bromp when the person asked me, I had never
thought about it, I said, I'm going to ask you.
He has always gone for it. He's the propendency to
go for it. When I say don't he has, and

(39:44):
then when he should he doesn't.

Speaker 6 (39:46):
Don't you agree It makes no sense? Yeah, it makes
no sense. Everyone was shocked.

Speaker 2 (39:50):
I think, yes, and he did not go for it.
So anyway, let's get to the Chargers Coats. This NFL
is crazy this year. The NFL is crazy.

Speaker 6 (39:59):
Ye, this game. Love this game here. Uh, you know
it's going to be one of these games here that
you know could be decided by one play. You want
to find out which is probably the right side. Like
I said, go on nineteen and one the last four Sundays.
You want to get this game for free, call eight
hundred four hundred nine seven four to one. First five callers,

(40:21):
We're going to give it to them for free, eight
hundred four hundred and nine seven four one. And you
want to hop on board. We've got a special we
call it Lee's Get this Lee's NFL Sunday Golden Ticket,
And what it is is five games, five games for

(40:42):

You're ready to go. You can bet them and get
the best line. So Lee's NFL Sunday Golden Ticket one

selections a day, just one place Paramouse sports dot com.

Speaker 2 (41:05):
Lee, I'll call you in a land tomorrow.

Speaker 6 (41:08):
Okay, sounds good, buddy, care take care.

Speaker 1 (41:10):
Guys, tell you best off show tomorrow. I'll be back live,
God willing on Monday. Love you all, great job of Shannon,
