Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome back to EVE Sports Radio. It is October third,
twenty twenty five. Thank god it's Friday. For people that
work that Monday through Friday grind, I don't. But for
people that do, thank god it's Friday, one day away
from the weekend. Welcome back to EVE Sports Radio. Phone
numbers five zero two, five seventy nine hundred. That's five
(00:24):
zero two five seven one seventy nine hundred. I've got
Leman behind the glass from Cincinnati. I'm going to get
after him in a second, but I appreciate you coming in, Leman,
sitting in with me today. This is seven ninety KRD
Sports Talk Radio. So first and foremost leave it. Welcome back,
How are you?
Speaker 2 (00:43):
Greatest day in my life so far? How you doing?
Speaker 1 (00:46):
Without a doubt? Everybody better understand that too. Say it
to him again. Greatest day of all our lives, it's today.
It's the only one we've gotten so far. Let's just
make sure we have one. Let's make sure hopefully we
can have one tomorrow. Now here's the deal. I apologize
about my Reds right now, the off the bat.
Speaker 3 (01:04):
I'd like to apologize to absolutely nobody because the Reds
stumbled their way into the playoffs, and I'm a Reds fan.
I'm happy they got in, but we can't be satisfied
with that.
Speaker 1 (01:15):
At least you're in. God, you know, that's a little
arrogance coming out of you, Leman. Most of the time,
they're not even close. Now they're in the playoffs, and
you're degrading that. You're a tough fan. That's tough.
Speaker 3 (01:26):
I mean, you haven't won a playoff game since ninth
I mean you haven't one who playoff. Well, you won
one playoff game. That was twenty twelve. We went up
two zero on the Giants and blew it at home
in front of our own fans. We haven't won a
series since nineteen ninety five, I mean the Dodgers.
Speaker 1 (01:39):
I was hoping we could pull another upset. It was
the Dodgers in ninety five. I know, I know. Well
that's tough it up. But a cup, that's all I
can say. Red's we're in. So here's the deal. I'm
happy to bring the other guy. He's going to be
all with you on. Bring that other guy, Leman, A
guy named George Williams Ring who ring him on? Hey ring?
Speaker 4 (02:01):
Who Hey? Good to me to Leland except joh I'm
talking to Leland. Uh. You know what I mean. I'm
glad to see you on the show, and I see
I'm glad you know sports like you do and you
can help Jerry out with the Cincinnata Red. The reason
you lost, Leland, is because Jerry Eves back to your team.
And every since, every every time Jerry back from one,
they seem to not do well. I don't want to
(02:22):
let you know that, Lelam. And the reason that y'all
went out so quick is because of Jerry eves endorsement.
Speaker 2 (02:28):
Thank goodness, he's a little fan out a Kentucky fan.
Speaker 1 (02:32):
Oh my, got not no Lamb Georgie your football team.
No one will put him in the contest to win
the game. That's the hard you say, No one, man,
I like Kentucky Saturday. Pick Kentucky Saturday. And some bulldogs
you betta worried.
Speaker 4 (02:53):
You better worried about it. They come out of the
Toto train, stay them and beat out. You know what
I mean, Come here, buddy, you got George and I
may not leave the port.
Speaker 1 (03:07):
I mean, nobody's picked Kentucky George. Nobody's picked Kentucky in
the contest.
Speaker 4 (03:12):
Not one person and for a good reason.
Speaker 1 (03:16):
Agree, I'll give you that one. It is Georgia. They
wouldn't pick Louisville against Georgia either. But anyway, George, you
play who you play. I don't nor select the conferences,
so don't call me. Hey guys, it is what it is.
It is what it is, Big boys sports.
Speaker 4 (03:34):
We were trying to pay you the support Georgia, Jerry,
and we could get a Wii in Wait now, I'm not.
Speaker 1 (03:41):
Gonna do that, George, here's the deal. But you are
gonna do disagree with le. You're gonna tell him that
the Reds had a tremendous season, aren't you, George. Come on,
you can.
Speaker 4 (03:53):
See here the comedian on the sideline. You didn't know
that he worked as a comedian on not on the show.
You know that was very funny. Good No, I'm not
gonna tell nobody there.
Speaker 1 (04:03):
Oh my goodness, William, I'm gonna give you one more
chance to step to the plate. The future is bright,
very young players. Your problem is that you're saying ownership
will not keep the players. Is that the old problem? Liam,
is that where you are, it's the it's.
Speaker 3 (04:21):
The sport of baseball itself. The MLB the bigger teams.
The bigger market teams are just playing a different sport
than the smaller market teams. They're going to go to
a lockout in twenty twenty seven and hopefully create the
salary cap, and they're going to expand the league.
Speaker 2 (04:33):
So it'll be interesting to see what they do.
Speaker 1 (04:36):
Right, George, I did not know that until I was
educated by William I really didn't that Major League Baseball
did not have a salary cap, or if you did
exceed the or that like the NFL and no NBA,
that you had to pay the smaller markets. I can't
believe that the owners of the smaller markets have allowed it. Again,
(04:56):
there's more smaller markets than larger markets, guys, I just
can't believe that. So you're one hundred percent correct. The Dodgers,
the Yankees, the Mets, I mean, this is crazy, the Cubs,
the larger markets are going to dominate, Bait. I can't
believe they've done that. I did not know that. No,
I'm gonna be honest with people. I did not, so
I appreciate that information.
Speaker 4 (05:14):
I really look at the salaries, the salaries on the
team and players on the team.
Speaker 1 (05:21):
See George still paid I thought they had to pay
the lesser markets like everyone else. I was just I
was ignorant to the facts. I'm just being honest. I
was ignorant to the facts to William told me, I
saw the largest I know. I know it. He receives.
I know what they get. I know it, Judge receives.
I know what they're But I just thought they had
to at least like every other team in the league,
(05:43):
sports franchise in the country. I thought there'd be a
salary camp. I just did, George. I was ignorant. I
was wrong, So I got no problem with it. I
have no problem with it. I was ignorant. So here's
the problem. George's already twelve after and we've got the test,
and I mean, I've got tons of people in. That's
first thing. You gotta get your scores in. You can
(06:06):
email me J L. Eves J L E A V
e S five five five at yahoo dot com if
it's your week to do that, or you can call
into five zero two five seven one seventy nine hundred
to get your scores in. That's first thing, George. I
have to get this out. I have to. Last night
(06:27):
I was invited to by the Anderson County School Board
to an honors dinner, and George, they were not me.
They were not honoring Jerry Eves. Trust me, they're Jimmy
dan all Over. I was in the gym at Anderson County,
Jimmy dan Conner everywhere, mister basketball. George nineteen seventy one.
You know when I read that, I got mad. But
I'm gonna leave that alone. George, were sitting at a
(06:50):
table and when I am telling you all, it's a
table of ten and there's a family there, and I'm
sitting there. There's a family of Isaac's. Okay, beautiful family, George.
And the mom who is the mother and father been
married sixty years. Okay. So I don't know if she's
(07:15):
seventy eight or eighty eight, George, I have no idea
of any but she's young looking and witty. So George, I
sit down and carry my brother. Sit down because they're
honoring my dad's sister, Gladys Hutchison, who was a French
teacher at Anderson County in the sixties, seventies, eighties. Like
I told people, So we're there and it's a great event. George, All,
(07:37):
I'm gonna tell you all this, Judy Isaac, you are
the wittiest, nicest, most beautiful woman I've been around. George,
it was a long event. I'm not gonna lie to you.
I'm gonna be honest. I'm gonna lie. It was a
long event, George. She made it so funny to where
George I had tears in my eyes. I can't tell
you all, nothing dirty, just witty. I can't repeat the jokes, George.
(08:01):
She was telling me jokes. I'm dying. Everybody at the
table was like, what does she say? I said, you
don't want to know, and I'm not gonna be George.
I just want people to know. Judy, anytime you want
to you come to Louisville. We got a lunch date.
We're going what a beautiful woman. And George, she says,
you know they say when you get old, you lose
(08:23):
brain seals. I said, well, I'll take some of yours,
because George, she was sharp as a knife. Oh my gosh.
Now here's the funniest part of the night. I am
going to tell people so tired of you cat fans.
Her son and wife were sitting their beautiful family and
their daughter and fiance. They're all sitting at the table.
(08:45):
Well asked Carrie, and Carrie finally says, he played at Kentucky.
Seem everybody brightens up. No one knew anything, George. They
are brightening up, start talking about Kentucky and everything. And
then he says yes, And they said, what about your brother.
He poised at me and says he played at Louis
for coach Crumb. George. She turned to the right. I'm
sitting to the right of her. She turned to the
(09:06):
right and cut her eyes at me, George, George. If
I could kill, I was dead a thousand times. Judy
cut me up. So good, Oh my gosh.
Speaker 4 (09:15):
She's very good, very good, very.
Speaker 1 (09:18):
Good, George, George. You would have loved her. I'm telling
you you would have loved her. She said, Jerry, I
used to sit in Memorial Coliseum. He says, I can
steer here in over rup, yelling at the players. She said,
I love Memorial. Then they wouldn't built that exact words,
they wouldn't built that thing downtown. It's so big. It's
just it just it's intimidating for me. She says, I
(09:38):
love Memorial. And that was the night so the honored
Gladys Hutchison, which was really nice. I've got a beautiful trophy,
and I just want people to know. An African American
woman was teaching French at Anderson County in the sixties
and everybody loved her just being honest. She talked there, George,
thirty plus years. Here's how tough it is. When my
(10:01):
aunt retired, they couldn't find a French teacher to come
to Anderson County. They had to go to Spanish. Seriously, George,
they still don't have French today. Since I'm glad this
has been gone. So but I just want everybody to know, Judy,
I love you. I mean, she put a smile on
my I wish I could tell you all some of
the things. Nothing dirty, guys, but I just can't repeat it.
I can't repeat it. It's just that, George. I can't, Okay,
(10:24):
yes I can. I gotta tell you all this. I
have to tell you this. There's a table and there's
a baby, beautiful baby. Nothing wrong with the baby, just big, George.
It's a big kid. So someone asked the lady how
old he was, and the lady said three months old. Judy,
sitting next to me, bumped me. I looked at her.
She said, no, that kid's too big. I said, hey,
(10:47):
you gonna say the kid's not three months old. You
don't know the kid. She said, you're right. All I
can tell you is then he hurt coming out because
that kid's too big. George knows kind of thing. George, George,
I was dying. I had tears of eyes, Judy, I
had tears of eyes. I said, Case said that. Then
(11:08):
everybody at the table sees me crying. What does she say?
I said, I'm not gonna say. You're not getting me
to repeat it. Oh, Georgia was great. We had a
beautiful time. So thank you Melissa for inviting us. We
had a great time. Thank you all for honoring my
aunt and Judy. Thank you for making it a night.
So George, we're gonna get to break seven seventeen, guys,
(11:28):
we gotta get her scores in. Have to uh and
we're gonna talk a little bit about some more facts
about this WNBA. George, I'm still upset, and I'm gonna
let people know what after the break. Welcome back to
you Sports Radio, October three, George, Halloween, that is your VA.
That is definitely for you. You're frightening, George. When people see you,
(11:49):
George frightening Williams, Welcome back. How are you doing, George?
Speaker 4 (11:53):
Oh I'm doing fantastic, my brother.
Speaker 1 (11:55):
How you doing well, George? Yesterday I got after the
WNBA little bit, and I'm going to tell you why
I did. And everyone is talking about what happened, and
everybody in a miscallier goes crazy on ingobirt and we
just understand that there's a conflict going on in the
WNBA and how poorly they've been treated. Got me, George,
(12:19):
and how poorly they've been treated. So I just brought
facts to it. I did not. There's no opinions. These
are facts, George. I told them. My rookie salary based
scale was forty thousand dollars if you were on a
first round pick. Got me, George. Second round players forty
thousand bucks. This was year thirty six in the NBA
(12:43):
inflation indicator, George. That would make it one hundred and
thirty three thousand dollars. Got me for the fifteen That
was myself. These are facts. The WNBA is in it's
twenty ninth year, George. It's about eighty thousand bucks. They're
not far off last year in this shar here. In
the first two years, the WNBA is cut a profit,
made money, George. They've been subsidized, so they're doing well.
(13:07):
They're complaining about no charter flights. George got me, Well again,
I'm just telling people, thirty six years into the NBA
nineteen eighty two, LEA came about. In forty six. George
got me that we were still flying Delta American and
(13:28):
all the other commercial airlines. So the WNBA is not
being treated any differently than the NBA that everybody is
marveling at. Give yourself some time. But in nineteen eighty two,
George League started in forty six, I was getting on
and flying coach George, Mark Eaton seventy four, Jerry Eves,
(13:51):
the two rookies who made the ball to club. We
were flying coach nineteen eighty two. That's thirty six years.
That's longer than right now with the WNBA. I just
want people to let them know because they're always saying
things are unfair, George, So they're way ahead of the
game there. Secondly, George, the pension plan came into the
(14:12):
NBA in nineteen sixty five, twenty years after the league
had been established twenty years. Nineteen sixty five was the
first year there's a pension plan. Coach Beard West huntsl
were right at the cusp George of receiving a pension.
WNBA's received a pension from the beginning. I'm just giving
(14:33):
you Fox. So when you hear everybody crying and whining
WNBA George, they had it better than I had it.
I was a professional athlete in a pro league that's
making crazy money. You got me, George, crazy money. So
I just want to tell people to Fox when you're
in all this wine and crying. When we talk about officiating, George,
(14:54):
tell me, who has ever liked the officiating? You're just
telling me, George, ever has anybody say that are officiating
so good? We are the ones who make the mistakes,
not the officials. There's never been a league. So that's
all I'm not with Callier. I'm sorry the five state
that the WNBA has it a lot better at the
(15:15):
same timeframe as the NBA, in the same time frame.
That's all I want people to know. So all I'm
saying to WNBA George is give yourself a chance to grow.
You'll have all the benefits that you see with the NBA,
but they did not come overnight. That's all there is
to it. There was a lot of money made in
between those kind of things that they're always complaining about.
(15:37):
So that's all, George. I'm I'm done with my soap
HARPERA and oh Leslie because they're saying how they were
neglected television wise, the NBA, George, was not live until
nineteen seventy five. Let me say this to you all again.
The NBA Finals were not televised live until nineteen seventy five.
(15:59):
The league came and exists since forty six, fifty six,
sixty six, seventy six. So you got what I'm saying
to you, George. That's all. So again, guys, in my opinion,
the WM is doing a fantastic job. Caitlin Clark and
Andel Reese are Larry birdon Magic Johnson and I like
watching them. I watched them. I told you all that
(16:19):
no problem, but you don't have it worse. You don't
want to talk to me. I know, if Carl you
sit down in front of me, she wouldn't talk to
me with that I tell her the truth. She'd be like, well,
I guess you tell me, we were mistreated, George, I said, Okay,
well I guess we're all mistreating. So anyway, George, you
got any conferencetions, you have any conversation about your pric.
Speaker 4 (16:38):
Take, well, only two things I gotta say. Jay, You've
got understand this is a Michael Way. This is a
Michael Waite society. There is no such things as patience
and waiting and letting.
Speaker 1 (16:49):
Pay your dues.
Speaker 4 (16:50):
You do coffee brew, You don't do that. Jay. It's
right now and we're seeing what everybody else is getting.
And this is a will. Everything is supposed to be
even if you get it, I was supposed to get it.
And I yesterday, Jess, I Ryan that you were talking
about this because I did not realize it that I
was talking to a college referee, a female who slay
(17:12):
pro ball in Europe, and she was talking about you
know that the referee in really has to be upgraded.
She says, it's a hard league to she said, but
the referees are making them look bad in big moments.
You know what I mean? She said, that's one of
the problems. She said, you have bad calls when it's
big moments you're and it's really looks bad. And like
(17:33):
the refee told me that the you know what I mean,
she may have handled it wrong, but she was right
and that the player did get filed and she lost
her composure and she had been complaining about the files.
So you know that's just coming from a referee point
to call the game. So I don't know, Jerry, but
I do know it's a microwave society and if you're
getting it, I want it, and we want to move
(17:54):
like air bast is moving. And don't think about what
you talk about the history of the game and how
it got to where it was.
Speaker 1 (18:00):
All I say is then George no problem with it?
Then I'd love from his caller officiate George maybe being official,
I got no problem with it.
Speaker 4 (18:11):
Well, what you've seen the NBA advanced. You've seen the
NBA go through this thing with referees. Also, you know,
it's not like we can't say that there was a
time when we had problems with referees and how to
call it against the big men and stuff, and we
had we had some problems and they cleaned it up.
And that's something I think that the w NBA, they
have missed some calls and some big time games that
(18:33):
call some people like you know you called the superstar
to lead the game and then made the wrong call.
Speaker 1 (18:39):
And I'm honest with you, George. In the NBA, the rulessness.
If a shot blocks a shot, George, and he hits
the ball before there's body contact, it's clean. That's the rule.
If the ball is blocked before body contact. Because basketball
is fluent. Basketball doesn't stop on the whistle. It's fluid.
(19:01):
If you shoot it, I block it, then our bodies called.
If I block it before our bodies collide, it's quite.
There's no call. So George, the lady, George, I watched
the player.
Speaker 4 (19:14):
I couldn't for them.
Speaker 1 (19:15):
Man and wait, George, I nicked Kiki. But I'm telling
you the lady deflected the ball before the body's colliding.
She deflected the ball with her right hand, then the
body's colliding. Fact. I look at it, and I agree
with you. I said seven out of ten times yesterday
they should have called him. Seven out of ten would
(19:36):
have been called. But George, I can see.
Speaker 5 (19:37):
Why it was.
Speaker 4 (19:39):
But let me give you a good example, Jerry. When
a football player leaps and the other fall, the ball
player is getting tackled and falls if I hit him
with my hammer, although I've already went after you and
you start to fall and I hit you with my hammet,
it doesn't matter that I was. I had already attempted
to tackle you up high. But you fail and Hammel's collide.
(20:01):
It's still time with the hammelet jet.
Speaker 1 (20:04):
I agree in George, and that's an awful call. Yes,
and then George, And that's because of all the CTE issues, George,
So they took the brain hit the head issues differently
because of the CTE. And I agree with that. When
we're talking about bodies, Colyde, George sprained.
Speaker 4 (20:23):
George, my launch.
Speaker 1 (20:26):
Point, I ripped cal Macy, George Tormania up, I plugged
at Kentucky Wildcat in the playoff.
Speaker 4 (20:32):
That, lady, we're not talking about that. We're not talking
about that. We're not talking about Jerry at this point,
we're not talking about Jerry. Okay, let's back up, let's
get back on subject matter. Okay, when your.
Speaker 1 (20:45):
Give me a different explanation, don't give me ct give
me a different one.
Speaker 4 (20:51):
When you make the launch point, like last night, the
guy made a good tackle when he was the quarterback
is Hamma barely toutting his face. They call a pild it.
I said, wait, did it pumps to college? When you
see it? Jeff, And you don't all of that, you
know what I mean? So you know it's a hard thing.
Speaker 1 (21:10):
I love it is, George. I just tell him everybody
wants we all talk about him being official. I got
no problem with it. Sole official. I got George being official.
It's a statement in the league coaches question. Answer your question,
(21:31):
rest rest, mh. You do two things. It's a problem.
Speaker 4 (21:37):
Well, yeah, if I'm getting ready to get an opportunity
to play in the championship game and the mother come
takes me out with a silly, silly foul, I'm gonna
speak like like she's speaking.
Speaker 1 (21:49):
But George, did you say what she did was flavorant? George?
Are you saying that George cut in front of her bumper,
took the ball lady in. Are you saying she tried
to hurt her? That that was a flaking George. You
didn't see the play. You couldn't seen the.
Speaker 4 (22:04):
Players that, Jerry, Once again, you take it. When I said, turned, Gary,
you gotta start let me talk if you want here
what I got, I said, Okay. What I said was
that if you're a player and you get wiped out
like that, you're gonna be saying the same thing. I'm
getting an opportunity to go to a championship game, and
I don't get the chance to play in the final game.
D I am very upset, and I'm gonna be saying
(22:26):
what Cay you said. That's what I'm saying. The girl did.
I thought it was a bad fire. I thought the girl.
I thought it was a bad call. I thought the
girl could have controlled herself. I didn't think she had
the foul like that. I really didn't. I thought she'd
over the legs.
Speaker 1 (22:39):
I just think, op, hold up, Georgie, George to dive it.
I mean you left your feet. Hold up, George, you
said died that.
Speaker 4 (22:53):
Okay, you left her feet.
Speaker 1 (22:54):
He ran into it, Okay, that she bumped.
Speaker 4 (22:58):
George, the collide and to collide and laid it in.
I just think you had to collide with.
Speaker 1 (23:08):
She stole the ball, George and laid it in. Should't
even go down, George. You didn't even stumble the lady
who foiled her? That you all say she didn't even
break stride George. She plucked her laid it in. That's
all I mean, George, their knees collided. That happens in
a game. I mean, George, I don't Okay, then, I mean,
(23:31):
boyther nomber as many rough games as you played at
the Dirt Bowl. You're gonna call me. You're gonna say
that's tough.
Speaker 4 (23:37):
Oh, when when it takes me out of the game
and I can't play in the next game, when I
can't play the next day, Yeah, I'm gonna say that day. Yeah,
especially I'm playing the championship games and he's gonna took
me out of the chance of playing the championship game.
I may say more than that.
Speaker 1 (23:53):
Hey, George, you know people will be getting taken out.
So George is seven thirty three. When we come back
major League Baseball, George, we've got to talk a little
baseball after the break, Phone number five zero two, five
seventy nine hundred, Welcome back, seven thirty six, George. We
got the phone lines. It's Christmas. I've got to get
to it. They want my money, George. So first one up, Anthony,
(24:16):
welcome to the sports radio. Are you good morning, sir?
Speaker 4 (24:20):
How are you?
Speaker 1 (24:22):
And yeah, well, Anthony, not very many people who pick
your cats this week? And Anthony is the kicker. If
y'all don't know it, he sent his scores in last
week and this week you have to call in. So Anthony, Louisville, Virginia,
what's gonna happen? What's gonna happen?
Speaker 6 (24:39):
Ellen, If you think I'm picking against Louisville, you're crazy me.
Speaker 1 (24:44):
Why why?
Speaker 5 (24:46):
Well, it's like five a high school playing against one
a high school. They just don't win very often.
Speaker 1 (24:52):
Okay, I got you.
Speaker 5 (24:54):
Well, I mean, Anthony, when they play some real teams,
we'll see, but right now they're still there's still an
easy part of their schedu.
Speaker 1 (25:00):
Anthony and I agree. And I told everyone for the
season started and George Williams five and oh. I didn't
say anything because they were good. I said the league
is bad. I've said it forever. But everybody gets mad
at me and tries to say, you're said, Look, I
didn't say that. I said that louivill would be five
and oh, because I'm not a fan of the a SEC. Now.
I used to be. I mean I used to be.
(25:22):
That's a fact. I can tell you. Fans called mad

the Briar's patch, well, and if I beat you outside

Speaker 1 (34:53):
And I am not that bad on Stoops. His offense
is back. But here's a question, Adam, Seriously, I want
you to be be serious. Now, if Louisville was playing
Georgia between Georgia who wins? Playing Georgia at Georgia, who wins?
Speaker 4 (35:07):
Be honest, Georgia.
Speaker 1 (35:12):
Again. Now, Kentucky has had the benefit of the SEC.
That's why I don't let Kentucky fans why there's a benefit.
There's more money, prestige, easier to recruit, play the best talent.

But guys, look, and I'll say I'll say this too.
Speaker 4 (35:26):
Look, I'm not.
Speaker 6 (35:29):
I'm not saying Louisill can go there and win, okay,
because I'm not saying that you are playing top tier
opponents every week. I'll give you that. But in a
couple of years, we're going to have some of those
same opponents come over and we're gonna play them on
our schedule too.
Speaker 4 (35:42):

gonna if North Carolina and Clemson leeds the ACC what?

kind of recognition?

Don't don't say Georgia again. Don't say that the ACC
needs Miami to win big. Yep, George, Big, I'm telling
the truth, George. No, the A c C needs.
Speaker 4 (39:24):
Be a big effect on the ACC too. If Virginia
comes in here and upset Louisville.

Yes, I mean, George, when you're talking about Virginia has
got the second best chance of winning the conference. I
still think Georgia takes better than Virginia. I've seen Georgia
Tech numerous times. I like Georgia Tech. This will be
my first time to watch Virginia. I'm gonna watch them
closely at the Louisville game.

some in the very couple of weeks. Yes, very playoffs
and wait for the playoffs, pitch, Yes, for the playoff, pitchree.
