Speaker 1 (00:00):
You've got to love the laugh. Welcome back. This is
Eve Sports Radio. It is December third, twenty twenty five, Wednesday.
If you didn't know it. I don't think I need
to play my hump thing again. I hope I don't.
It is Wednesday, middle of the week. I hope everyone
had a fantastic Tuesday. I put my finger underneath my

(00:20):
nose this morning, said it's a good day. That's all
that I know. When you're sixty six, you will understand
it is a good day. A little sluggish. I guess
everyone knows why. I was like the rest of the
city of the state up Washingtentucky played last night nine
thirty start. I can't nine thirty start. Don't they know
people are old, they don't have to complain. ESPN, don't

(00:42):
they understand nine thirty start? Godly, it was a late
game and a slow game, difficult game. We'll talk about that,
cat fans, We're definitely going to talk about that. But
there are a few things I've got to get out
of the way at the beginning. Now, let's go again
last week's winner. It's just for myself today, no co hosts.

(01:04):
I get to take my time Tomorrow. I will have
people calling in, so yes, it'll be a busy day.
We've got Lee Stirling seven forty, which is Thursday. You
need to get your scores in today. We'll take them tomorrow,
but it's better that we do it today calling in tomorrow.
And I've got the one and only coach Nolan Smith
Tennessee State calling in tomorrow, doing really well at Tennessee

(01:27):
State with his team. He'll be calling in for about
ten minutes to give us an update on how they're doing.
So we've got a busy day in store tomorrow. So
today is the day that we have to get these
games in. Now, we know this committee is crazy, we
understand that, and they're trying to fix some of their

(01:49):
boom boos from the last three weeks in their rating system.
I have no idea what they were looking at, but
we're going to talk about that today. Also, the games
are Ohio State Lucas Oil Stadium. That is the game.
You have to give me your points BYU at Texas Tech.

(02:09):
Texas Tech dog walked them about three weeks ago. But
we'll have to wait and see YU can put up
a better performance in the championship game. We have got
Georgia and Alabama. Guys, if Alabama loses, they're not in. Guys,
They're playing in the SEC championship game. So does this

(02:30):
make any sense to you at all. They're playing in
the championship game, which means they played their way into
the SEC championship game. And yes, they bumped them up
one trying to assure they would be in, but this
is madness. They should definitely be in. We've got Duke
in Virginia. What a game this ACC guys. ACC doesn't

(02:54):
deserve a team in. That's just the facts of the matter.
We'll get into that as we get into our college
football playoffs. But Duke in Virginia, Charlottesville, Charlotte, excuse me.
And then we've got North Texas at Tulane. Tulane does
have a chance. They do have a slight chance to

(03:16):
get into this college football playoffs. And what a crazy
weekend it's going to be. People that are playing in
championship games may not even make the top twelve. Let's
say this again. Teams that are playing in the championship
game of their conference may not get in. The teams

(03:38):
that are not playing may get in. Go figure, and
we do all understand guys that everyone doesn't. It's not
a head to head matchup. Everyone does not play everyone.
I understand that, but we're still going to go through
some of the scenarios that I have in my mind
that is really upset me. One is definitely Texas. I

(04:04):
think they're getting the raw end of the stick for
playing quality competition. Everyone can't get in jury. They've got
three losses. I understand that, But all I'm gonna tell
you is that anyone would have opened up with Ohio
State other than probably Georgia would have lost that game. Also,

(04:26):
So why are we getting knocked for losing to the
team that won it last year? They lost fourteen to seven,
out rushed Ohio State, out gained Oile State almost two
hundred yards at Ohio State, and they're gonna be punished
for it. I told you, I'm a Danny Crumb guy.
Playing quality competition should never ever hurt you. Okay, so well,

(04:50):
they lost to Florida, Okay, one lost. They almost lost
to Kentucky. Guys, I can show you b Yu almost
lost the college. Come on, guys, you can say that
for every team in this thing that almost would have
could have. Guys, they played the game, They print the scores,

(05:11):
they post the scores, so that would have could have guys,
come on, So I just I differ with a lot
of things that are going on with that. We will
touch that, but those are the games. Adam, You're my
last week's winner, so everyone would know last week was
carnage guys, last week. As the games become more difficult,

(05:38):
and Shannon will stay on the fifteen mark with this
one too, because I need shows to play at Christmas
break you all, I'm going to come out at the
fifteen thirty forty five market exactly yawned to understand that
these games are hard to pick and all it's proving guys,
you all aren't gambling with Eve Sports Radio. You put

(05:59):
up no money. We're just having fun. Billy Hayes gives
me the money to give to you all. It's a
lot of fun. But as you can see, for the
people that do gamble, and people gamble, I understand that
money's hard to come by. It's tough times right now.

(06:21):
And all it does prove to me that, boy, I
don't know how anyone does this unless they truly have
disposable income. And I don't know how many people. I know,
they just have disposable income. But people do gamble. They do.
I did when I was a young player in the NBA,

(06:42):
when I was twenty three twenty four years old. I
gambled also. But guys, it's too hard to pick these games.
So my leader, which I do not know the new tally,
Scott Bolage, my co host usually on Tuesday and Wednesday,
is in Europe for his birthday because he lives different.
He's like Tommy on the Martin Lawrence Show. No one

(07:05):
knows what he does. That boy lives good. When he
comes back next week, I will send him all of
last month's games, he will tally them up again. He's
got his flow chart, tally them up. I'll post them
one note. But my leader going into this week was
Ryan went two and three. Tough week. Most people were

(07:26):
two and three. Are three and two guys. There were
only two people last week that went four and one.
My winner Adam to Adam, you got to call in.
Leave me your information and I don't say. People don't say, Joey,
you have it. I don't save it. Shannon doesn't save it.
We don't try to keep up with you all. We

(07:48):
do not you have to call back in and give
it to Adam so I can get up. Okay, I'll
get and hoe Blandon. I'm coming to you right after
the break. You'll be my first call. But Adam, you
have to call in and give me your information so
that I can get out your check. So, but there
are only two people. Ac was the other person that
went four and one. After that, there were a lot

(08:10):
of three and two, Steve three and two, Martin three
and two, lots of threes and twos. But guys, this
thing is getting really competitive for this five hundred dollars,
is all I can tell you. Really competitive for this
five hundred dollars. So it's seven fourteen. We're going to
state the task. I've got my first caller on the line. Guys,

(08:30):
I need your scores today the games again. I'm ready. Indiana,
Ohio state number one versus number two. That had to
be the game BYU at Texas Tech Texas Tech dog
walked to them about two weeks ago. Three weeks ago. Georgia, Alabama, Duke,

(08:51):
Virginia North of Texas and Tulane are the games. This
is eastwards radio phone numbers five zero two five. I
don't even know if I gave that to you. But
it's five zero two hundred. I'll be back with Blandon
and we're going to jump into this University of Kentucky
basketball saga. After the break. Welcome back to Eves Sports Radio. Guys,

(09:15):
be some of the third beautiful day. That's all I
can say, God given day. Let's go to our first college, Shannon.
We've got people waiting, a couple of man Adam last
week's winter. Let's go to Blandon first, Blanding. Welcome to
the sports radio.

Speaker 2 (09:27):
Are you good morning, mister Eves? How are you?

Speaker 1 (09:30):
Sir? Hey, you don't have anybody else to say something
nice to and knock me. I'm so glad.

Speaker 2 (09:37):
Well you didn't give me time yet. You haven't given
me time yet. The morning is Pops to the greatest
world champion in history of all organized sports, and at
your producer, the great Shannon the dude. So I think
you could just cut this show and we'll pay how
muche to shann and the rest of the.

Speaker 1 (09:53):
Are okay there you go. Let me get your scory in,
get Adams in, and we'll just cut in. Throw it
to Shannon. He does shows, he can handle it. I
won't be mad. It works. Let's get with it. Indiana
number two, Ohio State number one, that's the game. I
have no idea what the spread is, Scott usually tells me,

(10:15):
I have no idea what the over under is. I
know nothing. I've got four scores in already, so I've
got twenty. I Oh, I'll stay twenty seven, AU twenty.
I've got IU eighteen. Oh, I'll stay fourteen. I've got
IU thirty eight, Ohio State twenty one. I've got Ohio
State twenty seven, Indiana thirteen. That's what I have so far.

(10:37):
So I'm ready for you.

Speaker 2 (10:39):
All right, buddy, I want I want Ohio State thirty
eight to seventeen.

Speaker 1 (10:43):
Okay, I've got you. You think you so? You don't
think this will be close? You think they're gonna man
handle IU.

Speaker 2 (10:51):
Okay, I think you're going to go.

Speaker 1 (10:52):
M Jerry got you. B Yu at Texas Tech. Not
at Texas Tech. Excuse me in Dallas, Texas take did
dog welcome about three weeks ago? Beat them to who
you're gonna give me?

Speaker 2 (11:04):
Tex attacked there?

Speaker 1 (11:06):
Okay. Georgia Alabama, George Georgia Bulldogs. It's even with the bulldogs. Yep,
Alabama can't repeat regular season, no way. Does Alabama deserve
to be in the College football playoffs if they lose
to Georgia?

Speaker 2 (11:23):
Jerry, you know what's funny about all this? Here we
are talking about this, and I remember when we started
the playoffs when we had two teams or four teams
or two teams whatever. Everybody's screaming we need six. Now
we got twelve teams. It's never gonna it's never going
to stop somebody, you know good and well, Jerry. Every
year we're going to have this conversation. If we have
thirty teams in it, somebody's going to get left out

(11:46):
or get a bad break. But it's it's a lot
of fun this year. And I hope you know, this
coming weekend could even throw more chaos into it. So
it's going to be a lot of fun.

Speaker 1 (11:57):
You didn't answer the question does Alabama's serve to be
in if they lose to Georgia.

Speaker 2 (12:02):
I don't think it's whether they deserve to be in
or not, Jerry. It's it's they're they're going to have
a hard time getting a three loss team in there.
And I know what you're saying, because they're.

Speaker 1 (12:12):
They're playing in the they're playing in the conference championship game.
Don't knock them for that. You can't do that.

Speaker 2 (12:19):
You can knocked because the SEC is the best football
conference on Earth and and it should have uh you know,
you should you should get credit for their their schedule.
It's very tough. But I don't know it's I'm glad
I'm not on their committee to pick this.

Speaker 1 (12:34):
Oh boy, I got you. Okay, We've got Duke Virginia.

Speaker 2 (12:40):
Give me Duke Jerry, Yes, sir, okay.

Speaker 1 (12:44):
Let's go to the last game, North Texas at TA Late.

Speaker 2 (12:49):
Give me two lane Jerry, and I've got my boss
neck that that's okay, Oh.

Speaker 1 (12:54):
Without a doubt. Mary, Welcome to the sports radio.

Speaker 3 (12:57):
Are you pretty good Jerry Harry this morning.

Speaker 1 (13:01):
I'm excellent, Mary, I really am. Let's get with it, Mary.
We have IU. Ohio State is a squad? Need I
have Ohio State thirty five, I U twenty eight. You
got it? B Yu Texas Tech Texas Tech. That's being

(13:24):
played in Dallas, Georgia, Alabama and Atlanta, Georgia. Duke Virginia
in Charlotte and Jake Northern Texas Tulane. I'm not sure
where that game is being played. Excuse me, Tulane. Okay, Mary,

(13:50):
I've got you in. I appreciate you and Mary. I
have more. I have more women. They've been emailing me.
Now I've got women in the contest. I'm so glad
you one. I just want people to know that my
wife is when you won, Petty. Petty has knocked on
the door a thousand times, so I just want women
to know get in.

Speaker 3 (14:12):
So I need to win again.

Speaker 4 (14:14):
It's been a long time.

Speaker 1 (14:16):
There you go. Exactly, little Christmas money, just don't buy
your husband anything married. That's all nothing, exactly, that's all
he got. Lucky Mary, I love you, Thank you, Take care. Jerry,
good day you too. And let's bring on Adam, my
last week's winner. Adam. How are you.

Speaker 5 (14:39):
Hey, Jerry? I'm doing fine. How you doing, buddy?

Speaker 4 (14:43):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (14:43):
Come on, well, I'm gonna cut you a check? But
I am doing great. Billy Hayes is cutting you a check?

Speaker 5 (14:48):
Cuts your dog? You're gonna.

Speaker 1 (14:54):
Know what? No, what you say, Adam? What do you mean?

Speaker 5 (14:56):
What I say? You're gonna cut me one hundred check
is what you're gonna cut me?

Speaker 1 (15:02):
Oh? Did you beat me? Did you beat me?

Speaker 5 (15:05):
Buddy.

Speaker 1 (15:07):
Oh, let me see, let me see Adam.

Speaker 6 (15:11):
Yeah, Adam, you buddy, Okay.

Speaker 1 (15:14):
Adam, you know I didn't write it down, but I
believe you. I just didn't write it down. But I
could lose my mind sometimes, Yes, because I've got you.
You had Louisville twenty eight, Kentucky twenty four. I just
did not put him over under got you that old Adam.
My callers, I believe you, I really do. I know you.
I wouldn't so, Adam. You gotta know you do.

Speaker 3 (15:33):
Man.

Speaker 6 (15:34):
If George Williams was doing the adding and some tracking, hell,
you never, you.

Speaker 1 (15:42):
Never with Adam. Congratulations, brother, you're big time winner. You
You've already left your information with Shanning. Correct, No, thank you.
Before I get you this with sports, you.

Speaker 5 (15:52):
Left your okay, Hey, I want to say, hey, Shannon,
you're You're awesome dude. Man, I appreciate you. You're taking
my calls too all the time. Thank you, Shannon.

Speaker 1 (16:03):
Yeah, you just made a hundred dollars. Shannon. Don't take
his calls anymore. God didn't say that on air.

Speaker 2 (16:11):
Because he's taking your money.

Speaker 1 (16:15):
Yeah, Adam, okay, brother, let's do what you have and Adam,
you're in the mix. Ron was leading. I'm not going
to say I thought Ron was. I know he was
up and one. He might have been up to no
more than two, could have been one. I don't know.
Ran had a rough week. A lot of people are
closing in. I can't wait to get this to Scott
to see what's going on. It is hard now, Oh,

(16:37):
it's hard now. So let's go. We've got IU, Ohio State.
Who you going with?

Speaker 5 (16:43):
I got Indy, I got Indiana thirty four, Ohio State
twenty eight.

Speaker 1 (16:49):
Oh yeah, this I mean now, you just don't know.
These games are so close.

Speaker 5 (16:55):
B Yu Texas Tech, Texas Tech.

Speaker 1 (17:01):
Yes to what I watched that game. I had not
watched either team, so I want to say three weeks ago,
two weeks ago, to hold me to the exact week
I watched. I mean Texas Tech. It was embarrassing. They
killed BYU. I mean they completely dominated BYU. So it'll
be interesting. BYU has to win this game to get in.
In my opinion, when we go to that, BYU doesn't happen. Honestly, guys,

(17:25):
one quality win, that's all. So, I mean, that's just
you have to play someone at the end of the year.
When they ranked these teams, and if you haven't beat
anyone in the top twenty, it's not their fault. But
it's not the committee's fault either. That's all there is
to it. When you don't play quality opponents, you don't
play quality opponents. I mean, coach Crumb went out in touch.

(17:49):
No matter what, we know, you're eleven Kentuck. You got
beat last night. Louisville plays a tough schedule this year.

Speaker 5 (17:55):
At least we got a heck of that tonight.

Speaker 1 (18:00):
We do. You know, at least they're playing quality opponents. Guys,
it's a big difference. Kentucky could have played basketball all Pats.
He's been eight. No, are seven to one. They played
three real teams. So it just how do you look
at this thing? I think it's who you play. The
quality of your competition must come into that pot. But

(18:21):
let's go with it. You've got now Georgia Alabama? Come on?

Speaker 5 (18:26):
What a game Georgia?

Speaker 1 (18:29):
Yeah? Okay, does Alabama deserve to be an Adam? Everyone's frightened.
Blandon wouldn't give you an answer.

Speaker 6 (18:38):
Look, no, because no, listen, you do. You might as
well just call it unless SEC Conference. I mean, because
you know all it's the best conference? Is that in
the other I mean, come on, man, look two lost teams.

Speaker 5 (18:53):
That's it. I am done.

Speaker 1 (18:55):
Okay, no done. There are two lost teams. Should they
be punished for playing in the chairampionship game of the SEC? Seriously?

Speaker 2 (19:02):
Now, Adam, but I don't know.

Speaker 1 (19:07):
Thank you. Yeah, it's tough, isn't it. You're gonna get
punished in the tampionship game when the rest of those
guns are sitting at home hoping you lose because they
couldn't play their way in. Come on, now at them?

Speaker 5 (19:21):
So then that means.

Speaker 6 (19:21):
That team could sit there and play all their second
third string guys and keep their first string out because
it don't matter.

Speaker 1 (19:28):
Great, Okay, Well, we don't want to ever say playoffs
don't matter, but I understand what you're saying. We to
say that about Adam. We say that about bowl games
and the best players. Now we're talking about the players
are being paid, not all of them, but the players
are being paid. Okay, the games matter. These are big
games you're playing. It's a lot of money for the

(19:49):
school and the players. I mean, I I just think
you can't punish a team for playing in a conference
championship game when they beat the champion. You just so
they're gonna split with the best team, the third best
team in the country in the last game if they
lose and they're out right heart heart peel, let's go

(20:12):
Duke Virginia. Duke Virginia.

Speaker 5 (20:17):
I got Virginia.

Speaker 1 (20:19):
Okay, you better hope because acc may not get a
team in Listen to me closer. I'm gonna talk about
it after this break. North Texas Tulane to Lane. Got
you all'am, brother, I will get out your one hundred.
You know. I appreciate you. I appreciate everybody for listening.
We have a lot of fun. So you'd be safe

(20:40):
out there and I will get it out to you today.

Speaker 5 (20:43):
Guys too. I thank you guys enough man, you guys
are great.

Speaker 1 (20:47):
Thank you, appreciate you. Adam Jennon seven thirty one. I
don't know if I've got anybody on the line, but
I'm gonna stay the task because we're cutting up these shows.
You will hear them again around Christmas. Break Let's go
to Break is Easworts radio phone numbers five zero two,
five seventy nine hundred. We'll be back with the Kentucky
basketball game. After the break, Welcome back to the sports

(21:08):
radio guys. At seven thirty four, we're standing task. I
got Shannon working behind the glass. I'm getting my callers in.
I'm going to my next caller, Steve, so we can
get his scores in Steven Gregg. Then I'm going to
talk about the Kentucky basketball game. I'll take the rest
of my callers after my last break. So Steve, welcome
back to the show.

Speaker 3 (21:28):
How are you one, jar? I'm done great?

Speaker 1 (21:31):
So am I? Well? Steve? I mean, can you ever
believe what happened on Saturday? That was the weirdest thing
I've ever seen in my life? You, I mean, you
picked Louisville to win. I thought Kentucky was gonna win.
Being honest with you, we were struggling. Louisville was three,
had lost three in a row, couldn't score for two
touchdowns and nine quarters, and played like we were national champions.

(21:54):
Kentucky had won three out of four other than Vanderbilt,
which is a good team, and played like that had
never played before. What do you think?

Speaker 3 (22:02):
Yeah, after after the SMU game, I didn't see it
come at all.

Speaker 1 (22:07):
No, I mean, I just that was weird. I was
at the game. It was the eeriest, weirdest thing. And
so now since then, coach Stoops is gone, and I
like coach Stups've been to his house, personal friend of mine.
Good guy went out with grace. But I mean he
had to go after that loss. He had to go.
There's no question about that. New coach and will Stein

(22:27):
Trinity boy. I mean, this is gonna be crazy to
watch the two Trinity guys going at it. What do
we say? So anyway, but a great win. I mean,
that was a great win for Liver. Is it true
it is Brown going to Texas? Have you heard that?
I hate to even start rumors. Is that true? Okay? Gotcha?
I just I didn't know. I don't know if it's true. Guys,

(22:49):
do not it's a rumor. I heard that rumor. I
just want to know me if you had heard that. Okay,
well you know what. I not. Also, this is really good.
But dang it, when I saw the last two running backs,
it didn't bother me at all. Last two running backs
did a great jobs.

Speaker 2 (23:08):
What do you say?

Speaker 1 (23:09):
What do you think? Anyway? Let's go Ohta State in Indiana.
What's your score?

Speaker 3 (23:15):
I like Ohio State twenty seven, twenty one.

Speaker 1 (23:19):
Okay, you're the only one. I'm already on the second page.
Dwight called in. I'll give his scores. I'm gonna give
everybody score so you'll know. Let me do it quickly.
Dwight just sent in Ohio state thirty five, Indiana thirty eight.
He took Texas Tech, he took Georgia, he took Virginia,
and he took Tulane. I want everybody to know everybody's score.
Be fair with this. Okay, let's go b yu at

(23:42):
Texas Tech, not at Texas Tech in Dallas.

Speaker 3 (23:48):
Let's say war say that.

Speaker 1 (23:50):
Yeah, I like, yes, About three weeks ago, Texas Tech
dog walk. I mean they beat them bad. Georgia, Alabama, Georgia,
Alabam in the Georgia.

Speaker 3 (24:02):
It's gonna be a good game.

Speaker 1 (24:03):
It's gonna be a good game. Does Alabama deserve in Steve,
you heard Adam there'll be a three loss team. Do
you have to.

Speaker 3 (24:12):
Count three losses? You with three losses?

Speaker 1 (24:17):
Jared, Okay, Well, here's my question to you. Then they
shouldn't play in the championship game. They should stay with
two losses and stay in.

Speaker 3 (24:24):
Right, Yeah, you got a point. Yeah, that's a good point.

Speaker 1 (24:28):
How do you get how do you knock the team
for playing in their championship of their conference that they earned. Guys,
this is really difficult. Like Blandon said, we need to
put everybody in the tournament. So no one just left out. Okay,
Duke Virginia.

Speaker 3 (24:47):
Give me Virginia.

Speaker 1 (24:48):
Okay, Tulane, North Texas, North Texas, Okay. What does Louisville
do tonight against Arkansas? My boy, swiggy cow, what happens?

Speaker 3 (25:00):
I'm looking forward to. You know, Augustas was pretty good.
They got seven really good players. It's something good game.
It's of course is there. They're the home team, and
it's gonna be good games, really good game.

Speaker 1 (25:13):
Can't wait to watch it. At least it's earlier than
last night's game. I don't have to stay up now,
God Lee nine thirty starts are tough on me, Steve,
I've got your brother.

Speaker 3 (25:22):
I've up the one forty five. Listens that I was
up the one forty five. This one listened to the
Kentucky post game.

Speaker 1 (25:29):
Okay, gotcha, got see you listened to all of it.
I was asleep.

Speaker 3 (25:33):
Well, they they went, they went to two o'clock I think.

Speaker 1 (25:37):
God Lee, Well that's but you know what, that just
shows you how much interest in basketball football around here.
We're I've heard don't hold me to this that the
Louisville market radio wise is one of the most listening
to markets sports wise. People love it, so it's good
for me. Yeah, I did, no question YEP. Appreciate you, Steve,
Take care brother.

Speaker 3 (25:58):
Okay, Jerry, have good day.

Speaker 1 (26:00):
You too, Greg. Welcome to the sports radio.

Speaker 2 (26:03):
How are you so good?

Speaker 5 (26:05):
Jerry?

Speaker 4 (26:06):
How are you good?

Speaker 1 (26:07):
Greg? Let's get with it. I you at Ohio State,
not at Ohio State and truly Lucas Old Stadium in Indianapolis. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (26:18):
As much as you hate Notre Dame, I hate in
the Ohio State worse. Okay, but I'm gonna have to say, uh,
Indiana had to pick up that seventeenth split to win
this game. I'm gonna say twenty five twenty three Ohio
State to my score, and I hope I will lose.

Speaker 1 (26:36):
Yeah. Are you getting in the Briars patch with me?
Or no?

Speaker 4 (26:40):
Yes?

Speaker 3 (26:41):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (26:41):
Yeah, you got the right winner. You know, Ohio State
is not giving up very many touchdowns this entire year. Guys,
I'm gonna take Oh God, that's hard. I'm taking the over.
I think Ohwostate beat him pretty good. B YU Texas Tech,
Texas Tech, Georgia, Alabama.

Speaker 4 (27:06):
I think Alabama wins this one. It's hard to beat
the team twice. But to answer your question, my three
loss Alabama teams better than the two loss team anywhere else.
If they take the twelve best teams, and that's what
they do, there's gonna be five or six a SEC
teams and that's just the facts. The best team and
then and they should take the twelve best. And I

(27:27):
heard this. If you want to, if you want to
debate it, take the team you're debating Alabama. Put them
on a neutral field to see who's favorite and who
wins the game.

Speaker 1 (27:36):
Thank you. I agree with you. I agree with you one.
I just I'm gonna show people I'm fighting for Texas
and when i'm finished, you'll see. Let's go Duke Virginia
so I can talk about Kentucky basketball. Duke Virginia, Virginia,
Virginia north of Texas, and Tulane.

Speaker 4 (27:55):
Tulane got you, Greg, I've got you. Hey, listen. I
want to tell my friend Dave at coffee clothes don't
work you got to talk to junior. Y'all understand? All right, man,
have a good day.

Speaker 1 (28:07):
Take care you too. Now, look, guys left Kentucky, North
Carolina at RUBB Kentucky is missing through their better players
now again. Sooner or later you have to get over that.
You're gonna have to play with what you have or

(28:28):
the players are gonna have to come back and play.
So Kentucky does have three quality players, quality players that
can help them win some of these close games. They
have to practice together first, they have to turn into
a team. Then they'll have to learn how to win together.
None of them have ever played together, so there's a
lot of ifs when they do come back. But the

(28:51):
facts of what we're watching is this. I thought Game
one with the University of Louisville that Kentucky's reb would
be the difference of the game, and that has not
been an issue at all. They have not out rebounded
a soul. They do not dominate anyone on the boards.

(29:12):
Kentucky is soft. I'm just at this time with this
roster they are soft. So knowing that when you go
one for thirteen from the three point line, guys one
for thirteen to lose a game, a dogfight with thirty

(29:35):
seconds to go, it's a one point game. You've done
a lot of things right to be in the game.
But when I can tell you there's one stat one,
Kentucky had thirty rebounds, eight offensive, twenty two defense. North
Carolina had forty one rebounds twenty offensive rebounds. When I'm

(29:57):
telling your numbers don't always match, I do the possessions.
You all know that I've done it forever, a simple
way without throwing in the percentage of the amount of
three pointers you've taken. Yes, there's an exact way, but
a very common sense way to do possessions that everyone knows.
Take your field goals, cut your free throws in half,

(30:18):
take your turnovers. Those are the amount of possessions you
had got me. The more three pointers you shoot, yes,
it would inch up the amount of points that you
could have pause you're taking three point opportunities. But to
keep this simple, it's easy. Kentucky fifty three field goals,
twenty two free throws, which is eleven nine turnovers seventy three.

(30:42):
They had sixty four points. That's point eight seven points
per possession. North Carolina was point eight oha possession. Kentucky's
defense was apparable. They played hard, they just gave up
too many second shots. Too many. I mean, they kept
Carolina truly off the free throw line. Carolina shot fifteen

(31:03):
free throws, can take you shot twenty two. I thought
it was a really physical game. My opinion, I thought,
can take. You could have shot a few more. I mean,
it wasn't a factor now, guys, but I thought they
could have shot a few more free throws. But they
did do a great job of keeping Carolina off the
free throw line doing the things they were supposed to do.
Still lost the game one reason, one reason only. They're

(31:24):
getting massacred on the boards. That's all there is to it.
Twenty offensive rebounds. You cannot win a competitive game when
you give your opponents that many second shots. Even when
you didn't play great defense, you hustle your scrap. That's
the bottom line. There's no way Kentucky can win. They've

(31:45):
got Gonzaga, I mean, what a godlin Gonzaga. Than they've
got to think North Carolina Central, and then they've got
Indiana in the next eight days.

Speaker 7 (31:56):
Blockout drills Coach Polk blockout, blockout, blockout every possession in
practice they must block out. I don't believe in blockout
drills to where you absolutely put people out there and
you move them around and you have a coach throw
the ball up and everybody runs after the ball. A
blockout should be every possession in your practice. You understand me, every.

Speaker 1 (32:21):
Possession, and when it doesn't happen, they've got to deem them,
you know, I don't know. We make them run it
down in back. You don't kill the guys, but you
have to get their attention. The guys want to win,
so you have to put it on their mind every
minute in practice. All that Coach Trumb never did blockout
drills for fifteen minutes. No, you used to tell us
to block out every possession, blockout, blockout, block out. Every

(32:44):
possession is an opportunity for your team to practice blocking out.
Even on three on two drills when you're in transition
and you've got three out of players and two defensive
Coach Crumb used to say, select the two that you
think are the best rebounders, then out hustle that guy.
But there's a thought process for it all the time.
You have to think it through. So that's one second

(33:08):
issue I have with Kentucky seven forty six. I gotta
get off. This second issue I have with Kentucky is this.
You can't go nine minutes without a field goal. Guys.
You cannot go from the thirteen oh eight mark and
the second half three pointer by Garrison to almost I

(33:28):
think oh Way had a layup at the two forty
three mark. Come on, guys, I think there were eight
free throws made in that time. You can't beat anyone
that way. You cannot. You cannot. That's all there is
to it. No, you must score. Kentucky played good D.
I told you all that they played great D. Their
possessions were better, their points per possession were better than

(33:52):
North Carolina. They just gave North Carolina too many opportunities
with twenty ovens and rebounds. No defense wasn't the issue.
They played Hall So and you still at home. Have
to score. You have to score the ball. You can't
go from thirteen oh eight three point by Brandon Garrison
to the two forty three mark layup by Taga Olway.

(34:13):
I think you're gonna win a quality game. It's impossible.
Efficiency of offensive efficiency has to improve. Also, it's in
forty seven, Shannon, we're gonna go to break. When we
come back, we'll finish up with Kentucky and talk about
this college football playoffs. Welcome back to the sports Radio
four numbers, five zero two, five seven, seventy nine hundred.

(34:33):
We've got another caller. Let's get Marty on the line. Marty,
Welcome to the show. How are you, Jared?

Speaker 5 (34:38):
Are you doing today?

Speaker 1 (34:39):
Gary? Every day is a good day. You know that.
I just had somebody taking one hundred dollars from me, though,
so it turned out and that to be as good
as it was.

Speaker 2 (34:48):
Yeah, I didn't get my check here.

Speaker 1 (34:50):
Get out of here. Shit, don't even try get out
of here. I won't my check. No, it doesn't work
that way. Not that old and not that forgetful. You
are no and no, not you. So let's get with it.
You're close though, You're definitely in the hunt with the

(35:11):
five hundred bucks. I can't believe that, but you are.
Oh e.

Speaker 3 (35:17):
Oh, I'm gonna go with IU twenty eight to twenty.

Speaker 1 (35:23):
Yes, it's a mixed bag here, guys. It is a
mixed bag. People are going both ways. It is a
mixed bag. B Yu Texas Tech, Texas Tech. And you
did say I you twenty eight while state twenty correct. Correct. Okay, Georgia,
why why do you part that?

Speaker 2 (35:44):
So the guys here working, uh talk about me?

Speaker 1 (35:49):
I don't have any idea you're gonna talk about you.
I have no idea. Don't put me in that. Yeah,
well you're in it. I'm gonna go with that. You're
going with Bama. We're gonna stop taking this man's calls.
He's crazy. Du you Duke, You're going with Duke. Yeah,

(36:13):
got you Northern Texas at Tulane, North Texas. Okay, I've
got you here. I've got you down a no check
for you. That's all there is too.

Speaker 5 (36:27):
Yeah, I want my money.

Speaker 1 (36:29):
You've already won once, you have not won twice. Get
out of here and you got your check one once.
Get out of here it retort. There we go. It's
always short when it comes to you anyway, Marty, take care,
right and please, all that money you make something. I'm

(36:50):
working hard, I know, hardly working. Take care. So look, guys,
here's what we've got. We're finishing up on the game.
Last night, as I've told you all, one of the
very few times the losing team and the points possession
one Kentucky was more efficient than North Carolina. Kentucky played

(37:15):
great defense. One of the few times that the points
for possession team did not win. That's all there is
to it. North Carolina scored at point eight oher possession,
Kentucky scored at point eight seven a possession and lost.
Had nothing to do with the effort the defense. It
had all to do with twenty offensive rebounds, all the

(37:37):
second chance points, all the second chance points. That's why
that must be cleaned up before the Gonzaga game, guys
must be. You just can't want to call it a
game with that going on. Others to it. Secondly, like
Shannon and I said before the show, golly their day
to day. Shannon said, I'm day to day. Heck, and
I told them I'm minute to minute. You're right. It's

(38:00):
time for guys to hopefully get healthy and start to
play for the University of Kentucky so that we can
truly evaluate or have some idea of evaluation of what's
going on. That's all with the team. It's hard to
do starting point guard on the bench, starting center on
the bench, you're starting three man is out. I just

(38:20):
thought it's really hard to evaluate the University Kentucky through
these first games other than played a really tough schedule.
That's a good thing. Five and three tough schedule. If
everyone gets healthy, they'll be better at the end for it.
But they have to get healthy, bottom line. So anyway,
let's move into this football. I don't have any more college,

(38:40):
do I, Shannon, I don't know anybody good. Let's go
to football. When we're starting to look at these teams, guys,
and everyone is saying a three win team. That's because
if they lose in the championship game against the third
best team in the country, everyone's going to knock them.
So all I'm gonna say to everyone, I can't even

(39:03):
find my notes to everyone, Let's tell any of the teams.
Let's tell Notre Dame to play Georgia in the championship game.
Let's tell Miami to pa Georgia in the championship game. Yep,
Miami can't even get to the championship game of the ACC.

(39:25):
I'm not come on, guys, Notre Dame has one quality
win USC. Now the rankings are over, thank you shading.
They've got one Notre Dame one quality in USC. That's all, guys.
When you cherry pick your schedule. Don't pick a conference
and get rewarded for it is garbage. Bama has to

(39:49):
be in tomorrow, Texas has to be in. Texas plays
played five top thirteen teams. Come on, guys, five It
just doesn't make sense, you all. I'm being honest with you.
Excuse me. That's six. That is six. You can't do that.
Quality of competition matters, is the sports radio guys. I'm

(40:10):
out of here. God well then I'll be back tomorrow.
Love you all. Bye back
