the phones were miraculously busy yesterday trying to send me
warning shots like my job's on the line, making making
making me put all these charts together and make you

(01:16):
you look good. I think I deserve a rat more
than anything.

Speaker 1 (01:19):
Oh my god, I'm trying to tell you boy, there
we go that word raise.

Speaker 2 (01:25):
Don't you know that's against the law raise? What does
that mean? You know? Bah humbug? That was for raise?
A raise?

Speaker 4 (01:32):
Now you you went. You went from helping to donating
and giving clothes to I asked for a raise, and
now it's ba humbug.

Speaker 2 (01:46):
Okay.

I want you to be factful.

Speaker 2 (01:52):
Where were you last week? Where were you last week?
I don't want anything. Where did you go?

Speaker 4 (01:56):
Tell them I went to Italy for a week?

Speaker 2 (02:00):

that you went to Rome, Venice and Florence. I haven't
been to any of the three, like I told you yesterday,
I've been to any of the three. Let's continue your fault.
And you walked around. You told me you walked for
fifty miles twenty six mile. How far you walk, Scott, you.

Speaker 4 (02:25):

Speaker 1 (02:28):
Fifty six miles and you're sitting that bad, Scott. People
listening to us are going to work today. You live

Speaker 4 (02:51):
That's why I need to raise you.

Speaker 2 (03:15):
But I'm going shopping Friday at six am.

Speaker 1 (03:19):
I'll be honestly, I'll be at the walmartle for Westport
Road and start to load up. I've got to get
toys for all my players kids at Simmons and I
do it every year and Frank, my son, and I

I will not be on Friday. I will be working, Scott.
But no race for you. That's all I can say.

(03:40):
I've never been to Florence.

Speaker 2 (03:41):
I'm going to Rome. That's on my bucket list.

Speaker 5 (03:43):

social media.

Speaker 2 (04:09):
Tell me where coudated when I just sent you?

Speaker 4 (04:11):
Right?

Speaker 1 (04:13):
I saw that, but I didn't know that went to
updated updated from yesterday's update.

Speaker 2 (04:18):
Yes, yesterday's make.

Speaker 4 (04:19):
A little correction.

Speaker 1 (04:21):
Yeah, okay, okay, I see it. I'm glad post yesterday.

Speaker 4 (04:26):
Yeah. Count from the top ten. Okay, So sitting at
number ten with forty two wins, is is that Charles Hanley? Yes,
you have Anthony Thornton at number nine with forty three
tied for seventh. We have Greg and Sleepless with forty
four wins. We have a three way tie at number

(04:50):
four with the Wait Brandon and pat at forty seven wins.

Speaker 2 (04:58):
That's Patty number three.

Speaker 4 (05:01):
With Patty she has forty seven and number three. We
have Steve with forty nine wins, number two, who was
number one after the last that was Ron. Ron's got
fifty wins and coming in at number one, the one
and only Martin with fifty two wins.

Speaker 2 (05:24):
All like it said, it's getting good. It is getting good.
You all can't let him win. That's why you just guys,
you can't let Martin win. It's all there is too.

Speaker 1 (05:34):
I'll never get the end of it, of all the people,
and he says I owe him the money. Anyway, guys,
come on, kick in, Ron, Steve Dwight, kick in, guys.

Speaker 2 (05:43):
I just want you to know.

Speaker 1 (05:45):
We've got four games, five games next week, five games
the following week. That's ten games. Okay, then we narrow
it down as we go into the playoffs. You have
at least fourteen to fifteen games left.

Speaker 2 (05:58):
In the contest.

Speaker 1 (05:59):
Yes, I'm going to add a pro football game next weekend.
The following week, of course, will add a pro football game,
just to put a little flavor in it. But guys,
everybody's got a chance. You've got Looking at Scott sent
to me, we have got forty seven. We've got six
people within five games of the leader. That's all there

(06:19):
is to it. It's crazy. I mean everybody's in it, honestly,
everybody's in it. So, guys, that's where we are. I'm
posting it right now, Scott on x e's Words Radio Contests. Yep,
I just posted it and there we are. So, guys,
this is Scott five hundred dollars. Of course I did.

(06:42):
I didn't speak to Billy directly, but we emailed each
other back and forth. Yes, today quite a bit. So
Billy is following the contest also, I mean everybody's following
the contest. Billy's the owner of town and country Ford
and Commonwealth of Dodge. Everybody is following the contest. Got
and I mean that. I appreciate everybody that listens. It's

(07:02):
amazing you know how many people truly do listen to
the show. Thank you all for doing that. I appreciate it.
And we're gonna have a lot of fun. And this
goes down to the wires. So that's where we are.

Speaker 4 (07:11):
Scott.

Speaker 1 (07:11):
Now, I'm going to throw it to you, well of
Scott at seven thirteen, I'm not going to throw it
to you yet.

Speaker 2 (07:17):
We'll come back with the scores the games from last
night after the break.

Speaker 4 (07:21):
There are some good ones, but oh.

Speaker 1 (07:22):
There's some good one jests that we're going to get
into it. I'm going to give Kentucky fans a blow
by blow. I watched every second of the game, and
Coach Beard watched probably half of it with me, and
we took notes, and I have some of his notes
about what's transpiring at University of Kentucky.

Speaker 2 (07:43):
A lot of people said, great win.

Speaker 1 (07:44):
I'm glad that they won, but I wasn't happy with
the way they play, and I'm going to talk about
that after the break.

Speaker 2 (07:50):
I'm going to tell people why.

Speaker 1 (07:52):
I'm not just going to objectically give you reasons why.
Then I'll throw in some subjectively reasons why my opinionion.
But I'm going to give you some fact at the beginning,
then some opinion, which can everybody has an opinion.

Speaker 2 (08:07):
It's all there is to it, you know, That's.

Speaker 1 (08:09):
All there is to it. But we're gonna do a
little bit of both. And we're going to talk about
this Indiana game coming up.

Speaker 2 (08:14):
We're going to talk.

Speaker 1 (08:15):
About University of Louisville beating Indiana. But I want people
to know I was at that game. One of the
most physical games I've seen in a few years. Another
physical game that I was at I want people to
understand it's different than watching on TV. Was when Tennessee
and Kentucky play. Coach Beard and I went and sat
behind the bench of the Tennessee bench and I'm telling

(08:37):
you that was when they had Williams and it was
a scott You know, it wasn't a war war. I'm
not going to say that. But you talk about physicality,
you're talking about letting res let players play. You talk
about banging bodies. You still talking about players putting a
ball in the basket through contact. Oh, Scottie, that was
a good one. Well, Indiana is going to challenge Kentucky physically.

(08:58):
They're going to do that, So we're going to talk
about that. That's why we're going to talk about Louisville.
They jump out sixteen to nothing. After that, Indian outscored them.
I want people to know it was an easy win,
and uh, Indiana just got off to a bad start.

Speaker 2 (09:10):
Indiana played really well against Penn State. So we've got
a lot to talk about. So Shannon, it's seven fifteen.
Sorry about that, Shannon.

Speaker 1 (09:18):
I know you're off on Fridays and I'm taking off
on Friday. I dogs you Shall. I can't beat you
and wrestling, Shannon, but I can still get you. This
is EVE Sports Radio, guys. It's seven fifteen. I've got
Scott Bowage when we come back, and I thought to
Scott some current events and all the scores from last night.
We had some great college basketball games. It's Esworts Radio.

(09:40):
We'll talk to you in a minute. Welcome back to
EVE Sports Radio, guys. December to tenth, fifteen days away
from Christmas. It is seven nineteen. I have Scott bow
Age on the other line. Shannon behind the glass. I
have shit Scott. Before we get going, I do have
the winner from the last weekend. I need to let
people know what did transpire.

Speaker 2 (10:01):
So Johnny stay right there. So let's go. First. Last
week we had Anthony three and two, David.

Speaker 1 (10:09):
Was one in four, Ron was two and three, Addie
was two and three, Charlie was three and two, Brandon
was three and two. We had Kevin one and four,
Joe four and one. Yeah, turn your turn your phone down.

Speaker 5 (10:23):
You've got to turn your phone down.

Speaker 1 (10:24):
Don't talk, Johnny, Johnny, You've got to You've got to
turn that down.

Speaker 2 (10:29):
Sheila four and one.

Speaker 1 (10:30):
Okay, Johnny five and oh and got in the briers
patch with me. He was seventeen fourteen. I took eighteen.
That's how Johnny won the money. Mike was five and oh,
but he did not get in the Briar's patch. He
had Indiana thirty eight, whilst the twenty one Jeff was
three and two, Adam was four and one. Bland then

(10:50):
was four and one, Mary was four and one, Dwight
was four and one, Steve was three and two, Greg
was two and three, Martin is four and one. Was
now the leader. He had Indiana twenty eight, Ohio State
twenty sleepless two and three, and Mike Brown five. You know,
so they're the last week's results, so everyone knows we

(11:13):
have them all. I've got every game, I've kept up.
I've done a great job and Scott's doing a great
job of collecting them. So Johnny, you're gonna have to
leave me your address because you're the winner, and you
did win.

Speaker 2 (11:24):
One hundred dollars. You got in the Briar's bench, so
you got you won that.

Speaker 1 (11:28):
And I was telling Billy Hayes yesterday I have to
pay him.

Speaker 2 (11:32):
He said, yes, right.

Speaker 1 (11:36):
I was gonna, I was gonna trying to rook you. John,
I was gonna try to beat you. But Billy Hayes said,
nobody said pay that man. He calls from Florida.

Speaker 2 (11:44):
Pay man.

Speaker 6 (11:46):
Uh, well, it's funny, you know, I didn't. I was
gonna call yesterday and I have an early morning job
where I pick up Delta and American Flight cruise over
on beach side and take them to the airport and
I'll take him at four forty in the morning. And uh,
yesterday I laid down and fell asleep, so I didn't
get a call in. But uh, I'm up today, Adam,

(12:11):
So I feel better today as far as being awaken everything.
But Liam is Jenny's grandson, and he called two nights ago,
which was Monday night, and he was wanting a donation
for the Male High school wrestling team. He's a wrestler

(12:34):
at Mail, so that's where the money's going. We've already
gave it to him. So that's that was our gift
to the money that I got from you were giving
it to Mail High School for the wrestling team.

Speaker 4 (12:48):
That great.

Speaker 6 (12:52):
Yeah, he's a wrestler for Male High School. He does
real well and then of course, you know, Adrian place
for Butler and they beat Central. I wish Jordan's here
because uh beat him pretty good.

Speaker 4 (13:10):
Yeah, I think we may have lost Jerry. But what
uh what years is he had at Mail with wrestling.

Speaker 6 (13:18):
Uh, he's a sophomore and he went to Saint Xavia
for a year and now he's a at Mail and
he's doing real well. He's in the one hundred and
thirty five town division, which he really kind of has
to starve himself to be able to get under the weight.
But he's he's a really good wrestler. And you know,

(13:39):
you don't hear much about that on sports.

Speaker 2 (13:42):
Yeah about sorry about.

Speaker 4 (13:47):
People don't the weight the weight cut and like cutting
weight with wrestling, how difficult that is, especially at the
high school level.

Speaker 6 (13:59):
Yeah, he's his probably his normal weights probably around in
one p fifty and he's getting down to one thirty five,
so he doesn't have any you know, he's he's probably
about you know, five percent body fat at that young age.
You know, he's all muscle and but it's it's something

(14:22):
that you know, you don't see on TV or hear
a lot about, but it's a it's a it's a
great sport.

Speaker 4 (14:28):
Absolutely, coach. Are you back on? I think we may have.

Speaker 6 (14:34):
Lost for a second sec.

Speaker 4 (14:36):
Yeah, well yeah, I make sure you leave your address
with Shannon and I will Gerald get Gerald get everything
out to you. And uh absolutely, I will say this,
and I say it jokingly, but he always puts stop
dates on his checks, so cash it as soon as
you go, oh for sure.

Speaker 6 (14:59):
Yeah, and I've got a watch your notes and stuff
I was going to talk about, but we'll do that
another day because we're having communication problems and that happens.
It's so no big deal.

Speaker 4 (15:08):
Yes, well again, thank you for calling. Congratulations on beating Jerry,
which is always a great thing because it's hard to do. Yes,
it's hard to do. All right, take care of Johnny.

Speaker 6 (15:23):
Okay, I have a great day yet, But Scott.

Speaker 4 (15:27):
I can hear you now, Cody, I'm trying to take.

Speaker 2 (15:31):
Once a day.

Speaker 1 (15:36):
Well it's gone again. Yes, okay, there you go, so yes,
once it's Scott. I don't know why once a day
it clicks off. I mean, I have no idea why
I see it, and.

Speaker 2 (15:48):
It just does. It's amazing computers today, that's all they
can say.

Speaker 4 (15:53):
So nun, Scott.

Speaker 1 (15:54):
Johnny was a winner and it's the next in job.
I'll get his hundred dollars out to it. Now let's
get into the game. So Scott seventive, talk about what
transpired last night.

Speaker 4 (16:05):
There were some good games last night, and you know,
I won't say unfortunately, but you're you're forcing me to
watch Kentucky's just for first half effort. And then I
which over to a good game which was BYU and Clemson.
And when I turned that game on, b why you

(16:27):
were just taking the lead with about three minutes ago.
I had no idea they were down twenty two points
and came back to take me.

Speaker 2 (16:35):
Clemson, we know, yeah.

Speaker 4 (16:38):
No, it was I figured, you know, by you would
just handle them pretty easily. But man, that was a
great game and it came all the way down to
the wire and Robert right the third hit a buzzer beas.
I don't know if you saw the highlights from that,
but man, it was a tough, tough, exciting game for
BYU and aj De Bonds just he's so good. I

(17:01):
don't know if you've had a chance to really watch him,
but here.

Speaker 2 (17:04):
I did not watch him. I really, yes, I heard
he had twenty two in the second half.

Speaker 1 (17:08):
But I really wanted to watch Kentucky, so I watched
every second of it.

Speaker 2 (17:13):
Scott, So I did.

Speaker 1 (17:14):
I saw the highlights of the BYU game, but I
did not watch the game. Yes, I saw the young
man hit free at.

Speaker 2 (17:19):
The buzzer, I saw the dunk, the bombs of down
the middle of the lane, but I only saw the highlights.

Speaker 4 (17:25):
Yeah, I mean, And you know what what I really
like about him is he had six assists last night,
and he found his moments to where he needed to score,
and he scored, but he was really distributing that ball.
In the second half, he had two big lobs that
he threw to the big fella that really kind of
helped give them the momentum to take the lead in

(17:46):
the game. And you know, his his energy and his
excitement that you could see from his teammates being successful.
I think may get overlooked because he's such a well
rounded player. And then after that game, you go to
Yukon and Florida, which was another just heavy hitter, and

(18:08):
that game was back and forth and just you know,
Yukon took the lead in the first half pretty well,
and then Florida comes back takes the lead in the
second half and Yukon ends up winning seventy seven. The
seventy three and their guard that yukonners are really good.
Solo ball had nineteen points. He was he was really good,

(18:30):
and he carried them for the night and just hit
shots when they needed it. And you can just see
you like we talk about energy and effort, and I
go from watching Kentucky, who I'll let you get in this,
but their their energy and their effort. We talked about
yesterday out coaching effort. You don't you shouldn't have to

(18:52):
coach that. And you watch them against North Carolina Central.
Then you go watch Yukon and Florida and you watch
Yukon's energy and effort. It's night and day.

Speaker 1 (19:06):
I mean it is playing with a purpose, yes, just
playing with the purpose, playing with the purpose. Kentucky hasn't
found his purpose yet, but I'm going to get into
it great.

Speaker 4 (19:16):
And you know, m so then and there's uh, you know,
Indiana Penn State, which man and I don't know. I
didn't get a chance to look at the stats from
the Indiana Louisville game, But Lamar Wilkerson, how good is
he in person? Because last night he had forty four

(19:37):
points and hit ten three against Penn State.

Speaker 2 (19:40):
Ten for fifteen from the three point line. Yes, I
saw the clips in the highlights of that.

Speaker 1 (19:45):
Also with you against Louisville, No not good, he was,
no not.

Speaker 2 (19:50):
I'm not saying that.

Speaker 1 (19:51):
Louisville got out to a sixteen to nothing lead. After that,
Indiana won the game. I'll talk about I'm going to
get into that game or tomorrow. I'm addressing Kentucky. They're
going through turmoil, have.

Speaker 2 (20:01):
Issues, but Louisville did what it was supposed to do.

Speaker 1 (20:04):
Hostile crowd, it was seventy five to twenty five Indie
fans places back. It was a really competitive game. Indiana
is really physical. They will bump bodies, they will challenge
you physically. They're not frightened of you. They're just not
always super talented. But when you have a player go
for ten for fifteen, which workers and did last night.

Speaker 2 (20:24):
That changes the dynamics.

Speaker 1 (20:25):
Devers coach You's son is an excellent shooter also, but
I expect I can tell you to win.

Speaker 2 (20:32):
They're going to have to do some things which we're
going to talk about.

Speaker 5 (20:35):
So we're already it's welcome back to EAT Sports.

Speaker 4 (20:38):
Radio.

Speaker 5 (20:39):
Sorry for all the technical difficulty. Gott, I heard you all.
Usually when my computer kicked me off, I'm off. I
heard you say we lost him again. I was listening
to you. I have no idea. I have to get
Gus is the man that takes care of the computers.
I have to get with Gus. And she's wrong with
my computer. It's never kicked me off my phone, and
kicked me off my phone on the last one, so

(21:00):
who knows what's going on with the onset. It's the
app that I use that just the last three or
four weeks once a day.

Speaker 4 (21:08):
It does it every time, every time it kicks me off.

Speaker 5 (21:10):
So anyway, throng the line lines will be fine from
here on out. So what I was saying right when
you all lost me was Scott Michigan is really good,
and Dusty's got those guys playing. They'd be building over
eighty nine sixty one. They've been beating people thirty and
forty Scott, I mean thirty and forty. Now, I do
want people to understand everything is going correctly. They're playing very,

(21:33):
very good at a very early time of the season,
which is sometimes not good. I want people to understand
that the Evanton flows with this season. Just like the
University of Kentucky. They're a really rough patch, got really
rough patch. But it doesn't mean it ends that way.
It's just how teams progress. But right now Michigan's playing
Final four level period, no question now Scott Kentucky. I

(21:58):
want to get people objectively what's going on, things that
they can watch, that they can as Layman's just fans
of the game can watch so that they can see
if their team is progressing. So I watched the game
last night and a few people call me it's all
with coach Beard want I was taking notes down. I
wanted to watch. It's what I've done my entire life. Defensively. God,

(22:22):
I'm pretty good at what I do defensively. I kind
of taught myself how to teach offense and run offense
and get people in proper positions as the time all
went on at AMT. But from day one we played defense.
That's one thing you can do. You have to get
talent to score the ball, but you can teach anyone
to play defense. Position defense. First thing I want people

(22:43):
to know. Everyone says defense is reaction. Yes it is
to a certain extent. That's where the coaching comes in.
That's where you start putting your players in a position
where you put the offense in a position to where
you don't have to react. They have to react to you.

Speaker 4 (22:58):
So it's not a.

Speaker 5 (22:59):
True statement that defense is always reactionary. Not a true statement.
You see football teams the quarterback checks off, the middle
linebacker check off. Everybody's trying to put themselves in a
positions where they're not reacting. I mean everyone offenses are
doing the same thing. So here's the first thing for
Kentucky fans. When you're watching your team and you want

(23:21):
to evaluate, not to score, they wouldn't be but that
don't evaluate to score, You have to evaluate what happens. Well,
first thing, University of Kentucky does not like to extend
its defense. Okay, a lot of coaches don't. That's not
a slap. They don't like to press. Lot of my
friends coach Beer and No, we like pressing. Stenica High

(23:42):
School pressed Thomas Jefferson. We like pressing, but everyone doesn't.
Doesn't mean you're not a good coach. But one thing
they have to do. You cannot allow the point guard
to bring the ball like the quarterback saying I'm going
to throw an out patter a five year out and
let him throw it every time. Or I'm going to

(24:03):
run up the middle, which means the ball stays dead
in the middle of the floor, dead in the middle
of the floor, and I'm going to run straight up
the middle at this play. Or I'm going to start
it on the left side next play. God, when you
do that, you're letting them dictate what they practice. Kentucky
does that. So the first thing I told you when
you called me but didn't see a long because I

(24:23):
was taking notes, is that watch them three possessions down
the floor, guys, Kentucky let North Carolina Central start their
offense where they wanted to. That's a no note, got me.
First thing you do is get the ball out of
the middle of the floor. I don't care if you
put it on the right side and they want to
run a five yard out on the right side, that's fine.

(24:44):
But once I get you on the right side, I'm
locking you in. I'm keeping you over there. I'm limiting
how much of the floor I have to guard. So
when you leave the ball in the middle of the floor,
that means you have to guard all of it got
them one hundred and eighty degrees of it on the baseline.
I want to get that ball on one side and
guard ninety degrees of it. That's the first thing they

(25:05):
do not do. They did not do it throughout the game.
It is not being taught. That's the first thing you
need to call it in the Coach Polk Show and
asking when you don't get the ball on one side
of the floor. When you do that, now you can
overload the weak side. You can have weak side help. Yes,
people can throw skip passes, but you can react to

(25:25):
skit passed. But when you get the ball on one
side of the floor, it's much easier to guard. It
allows your players to play hard when they know that
they've got some uncovering their back. But when the ball
is swung from one side to the other, the ball
is moved with it no resistance, it's hard to have
weeks out help. Where's the week's out help? I reguard

(25:48):
my man. I gotta worry about my man, and you
really do when the ball is being moved so easily
from left side to middle to right side and vice versa.
So the first thing Kintuck he needs to do guys,
defensive is get the ball out of the middle of
the floor and keep it all outside of the floor
period that they can do. Second thing allowing teams to

(26:10):
catch the ball on the elbow. The elbow, guys, is
the side of the free throw lane and free throw line.

Speaker 4 (26:17):
The elbow.

Speaker 5 (26:18):
That's what it's called. It's the free throw lane and
the free throw line where they joined on both sides.
If you let a team, which Kentucky did, throw that
ball to the elbow again, you have no weak side help,
which means both sides of the floor in play, which
means no. Everybody's got to guard their man to the

(26:38):
best of their ability because there's no help. Got Kentucky fans.
They allowed the ball to be thrown to both elbows
the entire game. That's a no no. That's a no catchtone. God,
as you well know, guys that they know catch. Stone Devens,
coordinator for three NBA teams, gave Cochin North Caroline Anti

(26:58):
scout was my assistant seven years. That's a no catchtone.
When you're player allows them to catch it there, the
horn should be blown. Everybody on the team knows that's
a no catch zone. So if I get the ball
out of the middle of the floor, which makes it
much harder to throw it to one side of the elbow.
And I denied the strong side of the floor elbow.

(27:21):
I've limited what they can run or I've pushed them
so far out that I.

Speaker 4 (27:25):
Can defend them. Kentucky allows teams to catch the ball
on the elbow. That's another no note.

Speaker 5 (27:32):
Everybody understand me. Ball in the middle of the floor
is a no no when they bring it across half court.
That's why Rick Betino, Dinny Crumb, a lot of people,
John wouldn't press because the disorients where teams start their offense.
That's all guys, I mean you steal the ball. You
just don't let them be. You're not letting them allow
them to be comfortable running their offense, doing what they

(27:52):
do every day in practice. Okay, we discuss the elbows,
Scott after the elbows, they don't deny, they don't help.
They stand in no man's land defensively. When you're talking
about I say, play with a purpose. Once Coach Pope

(28:13):
clears these things up, Kentucky fans will see the purpose again.
But when you're allowed to play in no man's land,
which is pick up sand light basketball. I'm not denying
my man's strong side, and I'm not at helpside defense
strong side. I'm doing what people say both. You can't
do both. When you tell a player to do both,

(28:36):
you're a bad defensive team. Tell them to do one
or the other. Either he's in health position and they
can kick it to his player for a three. And
I'm going to contest the three every time. Or deny
that man one pass away and make that man with
the ball keep the ball. But Kentucky plays in no
man's land. They don't do either. Or These things can
be adjusted, guys. These things aren't hard. They have to

(28:57):
be taught, they have to be demanded. But these things
can be adjusted. And I want you to know, Scott,
I'm gonna throw it to you for a second. Guys,
my first three or four years at a NT, I
denied one pass away. I don't care, correct, Scott, one
pass away. You better do your job. Deny the ball,
don't let them put it to that guy. When I
had to bring in small shooters and I had to

(29:19):
learn how to score the ball to win big games,
when we started to beat the Pauls and SMU's and
all the team, Scott, I started to play health defense,
and I said, I wanted the team to beat me
ninety to eighty nine, but they had to hit thirty three.
Is that correct, Scot or not?

Speaker 4 (29:36):
Was that our for lives the movie? So guys, again,
I want you.

Speaker 5 (29:39):
To know, yes, go ahead, Scott hit me quick.

Speaker 4 (29:44):
The first the first game we switched to that. We
we gave up a lot of threes. But yes, we
did against Virginia Tech. We did.

Speaker 2 (29:52):
But that was who did.

Speaker 4 (29:53):
That was what we were trying to do.

Speaker 5 (29:55):
That's what we were and we did that. That's guys.
I went from the nine wings to what I called
Aggie defense to where I wanted a team to hit
thirty threes. I wanted no free throws. I wanted no laps,
I wanted no mid range. Listen to me again, I
want it none. I demanded it. They had to hit
threes and I wanted to average ninety. So I said,

(30:16):
teams have to beat me ninety eighty nine were five
If someone beat me seventy nine seventy three, I told
the team, we didn't do our job, and they hit
twenty five threes. We didn't do our job. With no
transition baskets. We knew we had to rotate back. We
knew everything that had to happen for us to be successful.
So that's a philosophy. Some people say the nine the

(30:38):
three points, that's why I did that. I'm with you.
Some people will say I'm in help defense and you're
gonna shoot all threes. But that is a coaches decision
that you should see and know, not from game to
game as you will. Gyzaga, we're gonna try to trap
the post. Can take. You had no idea what they
were doing trapping the post.

Speaker 4 (30:55):
Guy got me.

Speaker 5 (30:57):
They had no idea. They had three people trapping the post.
The half trapped, half didn't. They went let the man
pick it up, didn't get back to their men. They
had not practiced it. They just tried to do it.
And you can tell when people don't have a defensive philosophy. Scott,
that's what Kentucky is missing and did not have it.
Again Central, I want people to know that they wouldn't

(31:20):
be but the philosophy, that's what I'm talking about, and
all philosophies work. I'm not saying Aggie is better than
denying the wings. I'm not. I'm just saying that they're
both have to be taught. They have to be talking differently.

Speaker 4 (31:32):
Got me.

Speaker 5 (31:33):
So that's another thing that no man's land I hate
because it's like, well, they're not doing anything because they're
not demanded. They're not taught to.

Speaker 4 (31:41):
You're helping.

Speaker 5 (31:42):
You should see him helping or you should see him denying.
But if you see him midway, then that falls back
on coach Pope.

Speaker 4 (31:49):
It does.

Speaker 5 (31:50):
He has to demand what he wants. Another thing, after timeouts,
this is when you and I wrong, Scott, Yes, after
the time they to take you went on a run
and scored I don't know, eight or ten in a row. Okay,
they shot the ball well and Laville molten very good
for the mine costs timeout, I said, I want to

(32:11):
see if Laville executes his offense and gets the ball
where he wants it out of a timeout. I want
guys down listen to me, Kentucky fans. They ran their
offense diagonal screen, diagonal screen, picked the picker action through
the ball directly to the big box. Am I kidding?

Speaker 2 (32:25):
Or not?

Speaker 5 (32:26):
Directly to the big box, guys. The big box is
the box on the lane closest to the basket and
caught it. There in perfect position. Only problem they weren't
good enough to score. The guy missed the shot. But
when you played Gonzaga they got made the shot. You
can't allow a team out of a timeout, got me

(32:48):
when you're struggling right now, Kentucky's struggling. So I'm being
critical of everything.

Speaker 2 (32:53):
Guys.

Speaker 5 (32:54):
This could be corrected. These are easy fixes, they really are.
But you can't allow a team to call time, come
out and get the shot where they want it. North
Carolina Central just wasn't good enough to make it. Now,
my kids got did there? Did they not? I said,
let's watch it that I told you, I'm getting off
the phone with you. Great they were, and pick the
picker and I'll be coming to you. Blanded after the

(33:14):
break and caught it exactly where they wanted to catch it.
They just weren't good enough to score it. So those
are some of the things, guys, objectively, that you all
can look at as you're watching the game, when you
start to say, okay, where does this lie? You know,
I'm so glad he jumped in Brandon Garrison's butt without
a doubt. I'm so glad he didn't play him. And honestly,

(33:36):
people were glad he did. It's gotta tell you me.
I'll probably send him in the locker room. I would
have put him off the team, but I want to
send his butt in the locker room.

Speaker 4 (33:44):
That's over that.

Speaker 5 (33:45):
I'm gonna show you my attitude and that is your
last chance.

Speaker 2 (33:50):
Guys.

Speaker 5 (33:50):
I cut people in the locker room after games. Screw it.
It has to be the team is bigger. That's the
coaches problem, period, point blank. I would have sent his
to the locker room. I'm glad he didn't play him,
but I just sent him to the locker room. So kay,
it's some forty seven. I'm gonna go to break. I'm
gonna come back with Bland and after the break, Welcome
back to EAS Sports Radio. Guys. It's seven fifty. I've

(34:12):
got Scott bow Age on the line. Let's bring Bland
and on Bland and welcome to the show.

Speaker 3 (34:16):
Are you well, Good morning, Shannon the Dude and Coach Scotty.
I hope you're doing well this morning. Coach Scotty and
Uh Scotty. I want to call in and uh and
make her comment real quick about the topic on today's show.
But I kind of like to switch gears in the
last segment here and talk about something really important to
you and you know me as a listener the fan

(34:39):
base here, Coach Scott is really curious to know if Jerry,
if you received an increase in your Christmas bonus this
year from me sports Radio.

Speaker 4 (34:51):
You know, Blenn, And I think, just from what it
sounds like, I'll probably be getting some coal in my stocking.
U just by what it sounds like from an old
screwge McDuck over there. Uh So, yeah, I don't think.
I don't think I will be getting a bonus, but
I appreciate it. Maybe I should have started gofund me

(35:13):
e Sports Radio, go fund me. Well, you know, I
want to tell you.

Speaker 3 (35:17):
I wanted to tell you, Coach Scott. There is a
there is a pretty fact based rumor going around uh
social media right now that Jerry was seen in rby
stealing all their RB coupons and that uh I heard,
I heard that his staff last night at their annual
Christmas dinner that he passed out that for their presence,
and there is a wild rolling him that you're receiving

(35:38):
the tame.

Speaker 4 (35:41):
And arprised me and probably.

Speaker 3 (35:47):
Well you know, he does believe in cousin Eddie, Coach Scott.
You know, he he does give the gift that keeps
on giving. So I want you to know somebody that, uh,
he loves you still the same even though that uh
he thinks of you that little to give you an
Rvy's coupon for your Christmas bonus. But I just want
you to know somebody, I really appreciate you coming on
and giving your time. And uh, I just know something

(36:09):
when the green room this past year went to nothing.
You know, he used to have food Scotty when he
first come on, and Coach Butch was here. You know,
if he came to the room, they fed you good
and all that. But now, uh it's slim pickens, buddy.
So I'm thinking of you and something real important on
today's show.

Speaker 4 (36:26):
Well I appreciate it. And just went completely off the rails.
YouTube went off the rails, like people are sitting there
going YouTube just don't pray, but you know, crazy, oh
God praise when and the the Arvy's the Arvy's gift.

(36:46):
A little coupon that I got was expired by the
way there, Well you know what, Coch Scott, I'm sorry
you can't have your apples and eat them too.

Speaker 3 (36:54):
So don't complain, young man. At least he was thinking
about you. But I did want to. I did want
to tell you Coach Scott on them. On a serious
note here, I'd like to tell you, guys, the milder
Dame a d yesterday. That is the biggest cry baby,
uh sworled brat I've ever seen in my life. If
I was the a CEC, I would tell the hey,

(37:15):
milder Dame, take all your teams and shove them.

Speaker 5 (37:18):
I would also I did. I told them that yesterday.
Pete Levequa, he is comical, that's for sure. He is
truly common landed nob.

Speaker 4 (37:30):
I'm really sorry you through this.

Speaker 3 (37:32):
Try to marvei que poms at another story. They may
honor have a good day, fellas.

Speaker 5 (37:36):
Have a good day, wells. Goot y'all just went crazy,
that's all. So let's get back to it to finish
the Kentucky. It's going to be a really good game
against Indiana. The things I spoke about Kentucky needs to
clear up to make sure that they're successful to they can.
They do have talents. Got talent doesn't mean anything without purpose,

(37:58):
and it's not guys, that's utter and play hard.

Speaker 4 (38:00):
It's taught. Purpose is taught.

Speaker 5 (38:03):
You must be in position, you must know what you're
supposed to be doing at a certain time. It's really
hard when you don't have a purpose defensively. And we'll
be watching that last piece on Brandon Garrison. Here's the issue,
and I'm so glad that he took him out, did
not play him. God, after the effort we watched against
gon Daga. For a kid to come and show you that,

(38:25):
to show you that kind of attitude is almost to
the levels guy, where you got to dismiss him. You
just got beat thirty five. I sent you the highlight
tape of people not running back just to kill it.
And for him to do that on his turnover, which
I spoke about before. Guys, the man that turned it

(38:46):
over is supposed to be trying to be the first
one back. It lets me know that things aren't correct
yet in that locker room. More work needs to be done.
It's all by coach Polk to grab control of that team.
If he does, it's got They have talent and they
can turn this around. It's not over, but they're things
that are definitely telling that are making maybe go and

(39:09):
Brandon Garrison, he's a seamor Still, there's just no way
as a senior do you play that way. And because
as a leader on the team, I just want to say,
just watch their players, how quickly they get from point
A to point B, no matter where.

Speaker 4 (39:29):
It's offensive defense. Watch their effort as they go from
their spots from A to B. Are they jogging, are
they sprinting? Watch their effort and that will show you
a lot. And and that's the stuff that Folpe needs
to demand.

Speaker 5 (39:46):
Yeah, and I think this Indiana game, he's all he's
all the right pass Scott because he finally got after guys,
I call him. Yes, I'm interesting to watch it. I
do think Kentucky wins.

Speaker 4 (39:56):
I really do.

Speaker 5 (39:57):
Saturday, but I'm gonna be watching that one intently. Also, anyway,
tomorrow I'll be back. That'll be the last day this
week for Esports Radio. Shaun, and talk to you tomorrow. Everybody.
Have a great day.

Speaker 4 (40:07):
Love you, my ba
