Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome back to EVE Sports Radio. January the fifth, twenty
twenty five. It's Monday. If you did not know it,
how everyone had a fantastic New Year, safe new Year.
Hope everybody enjoyed their family. I mean, there's so much
to talk about sports wise. I really don't know where
to start. But let's first, let's first go back.

Speaker 2 (00:21):
Thank you.

Speaker 1 (00:21):
First, we want to introduce we're bringing back Shannon the business.
Producer in the business is back from vacation. Shannon, welcome back,
appreciate you sitting in again. How was your vacation, Shannon.

Speaker 3 (00:30):
Oh it was good. Man. Anytime I can get away
from here for a week or two, it's always good.

Speaker 1 (00:34):
Absolutely, you deserve it. There's no question. I mean, you
work like a slave. But that's okay. I didn't say that,
Yes I did. I did say you work like a
runaway slave. I just said you work like a slave.
So it's all right. It is what it is. If
people are sensitive, don't turn on EVE Sports Radio. That's
all but welcome back, Shannon. Thanks for sitting in. I

(00:55):
know we've got to get the business out of the way.
Phone numbers five zero two, five seventy nine hundred that's
five zero two five seven one seventy nine hundred. This
is Sports Talk seven ninety KRD. Now, Shi and I
got introduced that other guy. I wish he would run
away like a runaway slate. Hey, George, welcome to the
sports radio. How are you all wait? What you want?

(01:20):
I don't want anything when they don't me bother me?

Speaker 3 (01:22):
Man, I got things I'm doing on talking to Sharon,
I got friends. I need to see, man, what you want?

Speaker 1 (01:27):
Hey, George, I don't even know. There's so much to
talk about. But before we get into it, tomorrow I
will get confirmation if Chief Police Chief Paul Humphrey will
be sitting and in with me. So I'm just letting
everyone know that I will know later today. It's ninety
percent for sure that we'll have police chief in tomorrow

(01:48):
talking about some of the issues in the city.

Speaker 2 (01:50):
And also some sports.

Speaker 1 (01:52):
So people didn't know he went to school with my
oldest daughter Lee, and they went to school together, I
mean Saint Teries back in the day.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
So known this young man for a long time.

Speaker 1 (02:02):
George.

Speaker 2 (02:03):
Anyway, we'll have to wait for that confirmation so that George.

Speaker 3 (02:06):
We got say something.

Speaker 1 (02:08):
Jared, sure what you never stopped you anyway.

Speaker 3 (02:12):
When Paul gets to leave, could you have him to
have a couple of guys just carry you on that
with him.

Speaker 2 (02:17):
See, there you go, New Year.

Speaker 3 (02:20):
I mean I mean, I mean a good way and
a good way. We have to lock you up immediately.
They can lock you up, you know, after you hours left.

Speaker 1 (02:29):
But you want him to take me downtown and book me.

Speaker 3 (02:31):
That's actually all I'm asking, Jerry, that's all. I'm just
a small favor for me to start after New Year.

Speaker 1 (02:38):
Look, George, I've been good. I haven't said anything derogatory
about you. Run a c landing. I'm trying to come
into New Year with a clean slate. And there you go.
You want me locked up.

Speaker 3 (02:57):
No, you're not. You just hadn't thought anything to say,
and you're just waiting for your chance to back up
over us with the sixteen wheeler. Now, don't try to
act like you that innocent guy. You know what I mean.
But I do want to say something, Jorge, and fantastic
that we came to the happy New Year man. I
want people to understand how fantastic it is to be
able to make another year. Don't let's don't cry, Let's

(03:19):
be excited about we came into another year and let's
try to make the best of this year.

Speaker 1 (03:25):
Absolutely, it's a blessing, George.

Speaker 3 (03:28):
It's a too to make the new year.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
Yes, they don't know how we are, George, because we
act like we're twenty and we're crazy. We act like
we're tough, George, and if we tried to wrestle somebody,
our body would fall apart like the potato head.

Speaker 3 (03:40):
Let's back that. Let's back that up. Pardon you the
one that want to get the exactly you ain't heard
of your challenge saying yet.

Speaker 1 (03:53):
Exactly, So, George, I know we're crazy, but you know
it is a blessing.

Speaker 2 (03:57):
Welcome back.

Speaker 3 (03:57):
It is a blessing too.

Speaker 1 (03:58):
I hope you had a great new year. And George,
I don't even know where. Of course, we got to
start with last night's game. NFL does it right. That's
all there is to it is a world watching it's
done it right. But we've got Kentucky basketball, we've got
Louisville basketball that we're kind of disarray. We've got issues
with George. I mean, we've got the new playoffs, We've
got Georgia's not in it. My champion we've got the

(04:21):
SEC there were, George, I still believe top to bottom
they're the best conference. But I'm going to do start
to back off again, and if Big Ten wins it
for three years in a row, I'm gonna stop. You're
gonna have to prove it more because I mean, I
still don't believe what Miami did to Texas A and M.
I just don't at Texas A and M. Not on
the road, not on the neutral site, at Texas A

(04:42):
and M, and golly, I just oh miss. Congratulations to
them and what's going on with their coaching staff and
Lane Kiffin. George, there's so much to talk about. It's
just nuts.

Speaker 2 (04:55):
It just is so.

Speaker 1 (04:58):
I know, Well, we've got to start with last night
his game, George.

Speaker 3 (05:00):
We have to.

Speaker 1 (05:03):
George, Oh my god, what a great game. I don't, George,
I don't think either one of the teams are very good.
I mean as for what's playing in the playoffs, because
it's really good this year. But still, it was an
epic game. The fourth quarter was as good as any
game you'll watch. Other than that, it was like always
penalty's eras you know raven football, as we well know,

(05:27):
what did you think George watching it again, Lamar goes out, well,
it's not in the playoffs, is regular season. But this
is a third year in a row that there's been
I was telling Shannon, I was listening to it coming
in on ESPN. That's where I got it. I had
to remember, George. But three years ago, Chiefs flowers fumbles
going in would have put them up. Their defense wouldn't
have stopped any boy, George. The Chiefs would have still

(05:47):
beat them. Secondly, last year, tight end falling in the
en zone, drops the ball.

Speaker 2 (05:54):
I don't care.

Speaker 1 (05:54):
The Bills would have still Mark seln Fuller beat them
my opinion. And then this year again same thing. What
do you think kicker missus and Luke Missus the kick?
So hey, George, let me you know what I left out.
This one guy Carney's John Carney. He went to the
best high school in Louisville. Also, let me tell you something.

Speaker 3 (06:20):
I don't remember. Gianna says, he's talking.

Speaker 1 (06:22):
About saying sacery and I'm just I'm gonna do something.
I'm gonna do something too, That's all I can say.
I'm gonna do something to that that man. Again, I know,
I know I shouldn't have said it on the radio.

Speaker 3 (06:34):
Your little bones can't stay together you.

Speaker 1 (06:36):
Oh no, George, Oh gosh. So anyway, all I can
say is Carney's Galleries. Guys, they do great work, George.
But Goley, that owner, that one guy. It's always one,
and he's the one. As long as you talk to

(06:57):
his daughter at the studio, Guys, you're gonna get a straight,
straight shot. The men are gonna come in excellent work
for John. You already started with the new year, So George,
let's get with it. Let's go with last night's game.

Speaker 3 (07:10):
What do you have?

Speaker 1 (07:10):
We're seven twelve and we're gonna stay closer to the task.
What do you think, George? Your opinion of last night's
Ravens Steelers football game?

Speaker 3 (07:21):
Jerry, The first thing I heard you talking about all
the mistakes and the pitfalls that the Baltimore Ravens have
been through in the years. But Jerry, the most important
thing they get that every year. The second most thing, Jerry,
that that that game was a powerful game and it
showed the greatness of both teams. No team laid down.
And we like and I say this all the time, Jared,

(07:42):
when you know you're looking at great teams, it does
not matter. They played to the end of the game.
Oh the only reason I think about that game they
ran out of time, saying Jase, I.

Speaker 1 (07:53):
Mean NFL hasn't done right. Yes, go ahead, George, I'm sorry.

Speaker 3 (07:56):
Yes, that's okay, that's okay. You know, and the Steilers
did the same thing. You had two great quarterbacks, two
great teams. I mean, we can look at Kenny. Sometimes
you can say that the team's forced that, you know
what I mean, the toughness of the game. You know,
somebody don't have to make a man a mistake when
you're playing almost a perfect game. Somebody has to make
a mistake in order for somebody to win. And that's
the way that game was won. Somebody had to make

(08:18):
a mistake before that game would be over with, you know,
and I thought it was a fantastic game. Jay. You
look at the kicker. He had to miss that field goal.
If he don't, it goes the other way. They win
that game. So you know, when people there's some games, Jare,
we can talk about mistakes and turnovers and stuff, but
sometimes it's caused by the other team, and there's two
great teams playing. Then there's the other time we can
talk about turnovers and stuff. The team just throw the

(08:39):
ball everywhere in anyway, that wasn't the kind of game
Jed and I hate when people don't describe both of
them the same kind of way. That was a gain
of two champions with championship hearts.

Speaker 1 (08:48):
Let me tell you who the MVP was, and a
lot of people are going to be surprised when I
say this. The MVP of last night's game was Cameron
Haywood six defensive tackle for the burg Steelers. That man
was phenomenal last night. He's the one who got his
hands on Lamar's pass when Wats came up with a
big interception. That man came up with huge tackles. He

(09:11):
was running people down. That was MVP, George. That man
was phenomenal. I mean, it was just a great game.
You have to get Aaron Rodgers credit. He played well
last night. I mean you have to give him credit.

Speaker 2 (09:23):
The offensive line for the Steelers kept him clean, not
like the week before against Cleveland, and Cleveland's defense is phenomenal.

Speaker 1 (09:30):
But he was good. I mean, Lamar in the fourth
quarter was phenomenal, period, point blank.

Speaker 2 (09:34):
There was nothing else he could have done. It was
just a great game.

Speaker 1 (09:38):
So the question is this, I mean, I love Tomlin. Okay,
I love Tomlin though, but I want to ask you
one more, Toland, I love Tomlin. They're talking about if
he doesn't win a game. You know, Pittsburgh wants to fire.
I take Mike Tomlin. I told you I would take
it him to the Cowboys. I take him to the Ravens.
Mike Tomlin is a very good coach. What do you

(10:01):
think about the status of harball with the Raisers.

Speaker 3 (10:06):
Well, well, let me let me say this. When you
were talking about Toimeland, but I wanted to say this
before we move on. Jerry is when you were talking
about your m v p M. Think about this, Jerry,
he had to fight for a contact this summer to
get paid.

Speaker 1 (10:20):
Oh god, well he's well worth it.

Speaker 3 (10:21):
And v allowed him tooth and nailed to pay him
this summer. Set out to get paid, Jared, think about
that man.

Speaker 2 (10:31):
George Solo tackles.

Speaker 3 (10:34):
So what evaluated doing it? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (10:37):
Evaluated?

Speaker 3 (10:38):
But anyways, keep it over money.

Speaker 1 (10:40):
You know that everybody sent us standing in the professional ranks.
That's what they do. They fight over money. It's still
funny money, it's monopoly money, but they fight over money, George.
But he was a bad man last night.

Speaker 3 (10:50):
I know that he's been a bad man his whole
career in him and in his seventh.

Speaker 1 (10:54):
You're seventy seven years old, George Man.

Speaker 3 (10:57):
Yeah, well you look at the running back for the
Wave of thirty.

Speaker 1 (11:02):
Two thirty two. Yeah, no, I agree that, just George
love me Aaron Rodgers forty two.

Speaker 3 (11:10):
So yes, George, Well, Judge, that shows that the science
and the technology has really grown. And we used to
look at the age group that we looked at Jared.
It's not the same anymore. It's unimproved. I mean you
can look at what science has done and with these
young men do for their body and how they take
care of theirself, the attrition and stuff that's gotten so
much better, and the doctors that can get them back

(11:31):
on the field. I mean, science has just improved so
much that you know, the ages we used to think
about twenty six, twenty seven, you know, they are almost
obsolete now. I mean it's almost hard to see a
player that doesn't play tenure just an outstanding player.

Speaker 1 (11:44):
No, I agree with you. No, You're you're one hundred
percent correct. Technology is unbelievable. If you would have watched
sixty minutes yesterday. Technology is starting to get scary. That's
all Georgia is seven to seventeen. We're gonna say the task.
You still didn't answer a question. I don't want you
to think about it over the break.

Speaker 3 (11:59):
I got that.

Speaker 1 (12:00):
I want to know about. I want to know about
what you think the status of Baltimore Ravens coach, Harbo coach.
I just want to is the sports radio guys, hope
you all having a great day at seven eighteen.

Speaker 2 (12:13):
If you've got to be there at eight.

Speaker 1 (12:15):
It's a little dark outside, a little chili, but travels safely.
And George and I'll be back after the break. Welcome
back to East Sports Radio. It's seven twenty one, still
dark outside, it's Monday. I've got the one and only
George Williams ring you sitting in with me. I have
you all also sitting in with me. I'm at my
office at Simmons cause of Kentucky busy day. Schools back

(12:36):
in session for most universities in high school so it's busy.

Speaker 2 (12:41):
Be safe out there.

Speaker 1 (12:41):
Buses will be moving again, of course, so let's just
make sure we take our time. Now.

Speaker 2 (12:46):
George, let's get back to it. I hear you.

Speaker 1 (12:50):
It was a great fourth quarter, and it was a
lot of fun in the fourth quarter by George. The
first two and a half quarters, I think, George, it
was what I'm used to see out of the Ravens. Mistakes, penalties, turnover.
There's only one, just Lamar's the turnover. I almost said

(13:10):
turnovers because usually it is, but I saw a lot
of the say so, the question is this. I've been
a coach for thirty plus years, and I played until
I was what twenty six twenty seven years old, and
when I finally left coming back from overseas. George, I
look at it as a coach, I take responsibility of

(13:33):
my team as undisciplined. I look at it as a player,
which I was. That also that you have a responsibility
to be clean. Like coach Crumb said, the turnover goes
to the team, but it originates with you, your hands.
So what do you think on hardball situation? He's super
Bowl winning coach when no one's saying he can't coach

(13:56):
the same thing with Tomlin, Pittsburgh fans, I take him.
I think twenty five teams would take Tomlin. I think
twenty teams would take Carball. But I'm talking about the
situation with Baltimore. What do you think happens with Harball?
Does he come back next year?

Speaker 3 (14:12):
Well, well, Jered, the one thing I always say is
supersize key coaching jobs. If him and Lamar have a
great relationship, I think that he will be back. I
think that you look at what he did with his team, Jared,
and you look what he did when Lamar was out.
I think he kept a team in the mix. I
think from the turnovers you talked, that was college last night.

(14:33):
And you know, and you played this game long enough, Jerry,
the defenses make teams do things that I don't care.
I don't care how well your coach, how great you play,
You're gonna have somebody's gonna have to mistake, make mistakes
for someone to win. And I thought that that was
one of those games last night. I didn't think that
a lot of the mistakes were on the players and
some college Jerry. You look at that one call that

(14:54):
when the Ravens got that first down late in the
fourth quarter and the referee, the referee to me missed
it because you know what I mean, the one guy
with the block when he made the turn he was.
It wasn't uh what he called it, uh bad a
black in the back, you know what I mean? And
so and then the most important thing I thought, Jerry,

(15:17):
that the players play for harball the whole game. I
think that's one of the things you can dictate if
you want to get rid of a coach, to keep it,
because how do the players respond to the coach. They
played up until the game was over, jerr and so
they're still listening to him. They're still trying to perform
at a high level. And I think that some of
the teams they take a chance on, oh well, we
didn't win, and we're gonna get away of a coach,

(15:38):
and seven eight years from now, you're still in the
same position. He was. You look at the Giants. They
can't get their own way.

Speaker 1 (15:45):
That's true, well taken, George Is. I watched the game.
The holding penalties, their their officials had nothing, in my opinion,
to do with the game.

Speaker 3 (15:57):
I said, they missed some right.

Speaker 1 (16:00):
Exactly, I mean, but I didn't see it either way.
I just I thought everyone did their job, I really do.

Speaker 3 (16:05):
I didn't.

Speaker 1 (16:06):
I didn't see anything that made me go crazy either way, saying.

Speaker 3 (16:10):
I agree with you, I agree with you.

Speaker 1 (16:13):
So that was the first part. I think that the
one turnover was Lamar's interception. I thought it was a
great play. I really do got his hands up. I
think TJ Whyte catching that ball nine nine of ten
players don't it was a great It was just a
great force turnover, that's all. It wasn't an Aaron pass
thrown to someone not knowing the play, just trying to
fit it in the tight window, making a bad decision.

Speaker 2 (16:35):
It was just a great play.

Speaker 1 (16:36):
Guy jumped up at the ball, and so that again,
I think that Aaron Rodgers and Pittsburgh played clean offensively.
Like coach Beard and I, we're usually on the phone
all game. Anyway, he was just upset that Pittsburgh did
not kick the three pointer at the end of the half.
It didn't make se said, it's you've got a long
gal points on the board. So I saw a lot

(16:57):
of mistakes. I saw an extra point missed that gave
the Ravens a chance. I saw the field go missed.
I mean, I saw it all. I'm just looking totality
with the Ravens where they are this year. They didn't
get in the playff Shore. It's usually they're in the playoffs,
but this year they did not get in the playoffs.
So that's one issue that you have to look at

(17:19):
when you're in ownership of the Ravens. But I do
agree with just changing coaches. You have to know you're
going to hire who're going to replace them with, so
not college. All pro jobs are good jobs and have
opportunities to win. That's why we're looking at George. Listen
to the teams that are in the playoffs. I mean,
you got the Bears, they're a number two seed playing
the Packers, who are seven seed.

Speaker 2 (17:40):
I think the Packers can beat them. You've got the.

Speaker 1 (17:43):
Niners and the Eagles. I don't know who's going to
win that game. You've got the Carolina Panthers and the
Rams four and five. The Rams are going to win
that game in my opinion. You got the Chargers and
the Patriots. The Patriots are back. I mean, Church, You've
got a lot of You've got Jacksonville Jaguars and Buffalo
three and six. Buffalo's the sixth seed. The Jaguars are

(18:04):
the three seed. You've got a lot of changing in
the NFL. You've got the Houston Texas at five, Pittsburgh
at four. I mean, George, there's a lot of parodies
starting to happen in this NFL right now.

Speaker 2 (18:16):
I really do.

Speaker 1 (18:16):
No, let's just take Patrick Mahomes and the injury away
because he is the second goat and the Chiefs were
the team. But injuries happen. I hate it, but injuries happen, George.
I think right now the NFL is starting to make
a shift. That's why I'm saying my opinion the Ravens
may have to look and make it a change because
I see the NFL changing, I see the bottoms rising

(18:39):
to the top. Jackson goes good. I mean, the Texans
are good, George. People don't want to admit it, but
they're good. So honestly, Seattle, if I had to pick
a team, I'd put my money on them. They're the
best defensive team I've seen in a long time, since
the old Bears teams. So I don't know, George, I
think the I think that the talent level is starting

(19:02):
to change in the NFL.

Speaker 2 (19:07):
With the Bears. So what do you think I think
they might need to happen.

Speaker 3 (19:13):
Well, Jered, everything runs in cycles. When you look at
the big dolls, the big Dogs are still playing. You
got you got Pittsburgh and the Ravens. The big Dogs
are still playing. Jeed. This year they didn't they're not
going as far. But you look at Pittsburgh, you look
at the Ravens. You're in and your out. You know
they're right there fighting for to get into the championship.
And that if you're a team and your owner and

(19:34):
you're playing for championships, that's what you want, Jail. You
want your team to be in the mix. You want
your team name to be called when they're calling out
the other great names. See when you call it the name,
you gotta call out the Ravens. You got to call
out Pittsburgh because they were there fighting for a championship,
fighting to get into the championship when they divisions. So, yeah,
you have some new teams every year. You're gonna have
a cycle where you're gonna bring them about five or sixteen.

(19:54):
But how long do they last? Yeh? Do they sustain
what they have? You're looking at the Ravens, You're looking
at Pittsburgh.

Speaker 1 (20:02):
Okay, I got a question for you, George. Pittsburgh has
been one in out for seven or eight years, one
game in out that's why they're mad at Mike Tomlin,
who I love.

Speaker 2 (20:11):
I mean, I think he's a well of a coach.

Speaker 1 (20:13):
But the fact of the matter, they've been one and out,
so they've got an opportunity.

Speaker 2 (20:17):
They're playing the Texans at home. George.

Speaker 1 (20:21):
If they lose, is Mike Tomland in trouble because they
haven't been playing for what they.

Speaker 2 (20:25):
Consider the Super Bowl?

Speaker 1 (20:28):
George? Is some teams go. Here's my opinion. The last
ten years, you would say, of course, the Chiefs playing
for super Bowls. Of course you say super Bowl teams,
you would have to save the forty nine ers, teams
that want to compete. You'd want to put then right
below them. The last ten years, since I'm gonna say

(20:48):
Josh Allen's been in, You've got the Bills who've been competing,
haven't gotten to a super Bowl, but been competing. That's
three teams, George. That You've had the Ravens that have
been playing a Commas Championship game but were competing for
super Bowls. Now they're not in the playoffs. Got me
so not in. Then you've got Pittsburgh, who we know
what Pittsburgh's done our long we were old, George, but

(21:09):
we weren't talking about the last seven years with Pittsburgh.
They're one game and done. They haven't been buying.

Speaker 2 (21:15):
For super Bowls, which is what Pittsburgh says for.

Speaker 1 (21:17):
We both know that. I we know what Bradshaw and
those guys did, fran Co Harris, we understand Chuck Knowle
what everyone has done with it for and we know
that this year's coach is also Tomlin has won a
Super Bowl, but that was like thirteen years ago. So George,
you've got Denver, brand new bo Nicks sitting there, number

(21:39):
one seed that haven't been there for a while. So George,
you don't think they need to shake up maybe? I mean, George,
is easier to shake up the coach than it is
to move players.

Speaker 2 (21:47):
That's all there is to it. We know that.

Speaker 1 (21:49):
So last chance, where we get into basketball, you still
think they'll stay tight with both coaches next year where
they both be back with their franchise.

Speaker 3 (21:56):
Well, I'm sure Tomlin will be back there. You you
think about you think about this, and you think about
the history of the Pittsburgh. What was the last coach
that was the Pittsburgh before Timlin?

Speaker 1 (22:08):
Oh God, he just retired and just watch you.

Speaker 3 (22:11):
All right, Well, what my point is, Jerry, Well, he
got two Super Bowls, you know, and he never he
never had the rector that Tomland has. No, there's no
other coach that can say that they've coached their whole
career and have always been above uh five hundred, you know.
And not only that, Jared, you name me another coach
in the NFL's as the bad that's most worst quarterbacks,

(22:34):
any worst quarterbacks than Thimland has had in his career
and still wins with defense. Jared, every team in the
league talks about the greatness of the quarterback. Who has
been the greatness of the quarterback since Rockenberger's left? I mean,
I have to play four quarterbacks in a season. I mean,
he's had quarterbacks who's never one games, but James's back
every year, year in and year out. You got to

(22:56):
get the man some some some grocers, Jared. You gotta
get me some grocer, give me a quarterback to work with.

Speaker 1 (23:02):
Yes, I'm not And George, I told you if Mike
Tomlin was on the open market, I'd hire There's no question.

Speaker 3 (23:10):
I'm not saying that, no question, But that's not what
I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (23:15):
Ja.

Speaker 3 (23:15):
What I'm saying, is show me another coach that can
coach that long with that many bad quarterbacks and still
be winning. That's what I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (23:24):
I'm with you. Do you ever think that it's just
time to move on?

Speaker 3 (23:27):
Sometimes if that's what they choose to do, But I
don't think it'll be the Pittsburgh benefit. I think wherever
he goes, the team will improve with him going down,
then the Pittsburgh will improve with him leaving.

Speaker 1 (23:39):
That gotcha, Well, we all know the playoffs are said.
The best league in America, without a doubt is the NFL.
And we've got the Green Bay Packers, Chicago Bears, San
Francisco forty nine Ers, Philadelphia Eagles. Really good game, Rams Panthers.
Rams will win that game. Seattle is sitting in the
number one seed in the NFC AFC brackets. You've got

(24:02):
the Chargers and the Patriots newcomers, great young quarterbacks.

Speaker 2 (24:08):
You've got the Bills.

Speaker 1 (24:09):
Josh Allen always puts his team minute number six seed,
Jacksonville Jaguars. I mean, Trevor Lawrence is playing super right now.
That's all there is to It's super. You've got the
Texans and Pittsburgh and then You've got Denver Broncos sitting.
So that's what we've got.

Speaker 2 (24:25):
George.

Speaker 3 (24:26):
Wait, I got a question for you. If I could
have answered it, come, Josh Allen considered been sick, considered
the last five or six seven years, one of the
greatest quarterback in the league. And he's never got to
the super Bowl. And nobody gives this boy the blues.
How does that happen? I mean, got that, Jed, And
we talk about Lamar, We talked about Kansas City quarterback.

(24:48):
We talked about all these quarterbacks and every year how
great he is. But he never sees the super Bowl.
He doesn't even know what the super Bowl smells like.

Speaker 1 (24:54):
Okay, well, George, that's true. That's the truth statement. Here's
what I will say for Josh Allen. A caller called
in George a week or two ago. I don't know
if you're wrong with me, and he compared. He said,
he said Joe Burrows could take the bills as far
and I told him, and I love Joe Burrows, but
I did, but no, he could not.

Speaker 2 (25:13):
He could not take the bills. He could not do it.

Speaker 1 (25:15):
Josh day because Josh his physical presence when he does
throwing that but I agree with George.

Speaker 2 (25:22):
But as for he has put his.

Speaker 1 (25:25):
Coming in today, I'm agree with you this time George
coming in today. Esp announcers were saying that this should
be Joe Burrow's pathway to the AFC Championship. Me and Josh,
thank you, George, Josh. And if he does not get there,
God and George then that they were going to be
more criticism put in his direction. But again you've got

(25:48):
Patrick Mahomes who has beat Josh Allen twice. Who is
the second goat. Georgie's the second goat doubt. So if
you take Mahomes out of the equation, Josh Allen's been
not he would be knocking on the door. But you
have to give Mahomes his due. So Josh Allen has
just been the second Ben Robin. He's been right there behind.
He just couldn't be Batman. He just couldn't. No problem

(26:11):
with that, nobody could. Now this year he's got his chance.
And I'm gonna tell you, Trevor Lawrence is playing well.
I'm looking forward to seeing that game. That may be
my third game in my contest. The sixt seed Buffalo
Bills at the Jacksonville Jaguars, maybe we'll talk about it. So, yes, George,
I think people will put a little more criticism in

(26:32):
his direction. But George, I just tell anybody, when you're
in the playoffs, you've done your job. That NFL is real.
He's the second winning his quarterback since he's been in
the league. And I told people Lamar Jackson is third,
two games behind him, and they're behind Mahomes, who has
been other than Tom Brady this era of ten years.
He's been the goat. So we're talking about three of

(26:55):
the finest quarterbacks that have played the last eight years. George,
that is Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson. There one, two,
three and wins. So let's get to go ahead, go ahead,
come back.

Speaker 3 (27:09):
For his greatness. He gets such a pass, that's all.
That's what bothers me. He gets such a pass, and
everybody telling me how great he is. But he's never
smelled the Super Bowl. I know he would get to
the second or third round. They're back talking about, well
they played, they lost in the first round, the playoffs.
They were at the playoffs. You have not been to
the playoffs, Broa.

Speaker 1 (27:27):
Here's the problem of George. I just thought explained to you.
Patrick Mahoons beat him twice. George, I mean, George, that
man is really good.

Speaker 3 (27:35):
That's who beat him in the take over jar.

Speaker 1 (27:40):
I mean, George, quarterback your greatness to take over Georgeorge, George,
I hear you, and I'm not I'm not jumping up
and down, Josh.

Speaker 3 (27:49):
I'm talking.

Speaker 1 (27:50):
He's the second best quarterback in the NFL. I mean
his stats. I'm not gonna change. I can't send for Lamar,
who's got the third most wins, and then I say
the man that's got the second most wins. I couldn't
do that, Georgia, be hypocrite. That man's got the second
best record since he's been in the NFL, and he's
lost in the playoffs too.

Speaker 3 (28:07):
But what is so anyway, you've never been to the
Bigie boy. I'm looking forward to seeing. I just want
to sick because I like to Cat. I think he's
outstanding the quarterback there. But you know that they gotta
be a little controversy if everybody want to throw it.

Speaker 1 (28:25):
Let's get the break is the sports radio when we
come back, George, you'll get to choose the Cats are
the cards who we talk about after the break. Welcome
back to the Sports Radio seven. George, We've got no
time to mess around. Which game are we going to touch?
Kentucky Alabama eighty nine to seventy four or Stanford eighty

(28:48):
Louisville seventy six, both road games?

Speaker 2 (28:51):
Which one your choice?

Speaker 3 (28:54):
Well? Well, wow, both both of them were terrible. Uh wow,
Let's let's go look at Poke man. Let's see what
Poke is at. You know what I mean. I like
to talk about Louville with a good chance, but we'll
start with poking. How Alabama just dominated them for the
first half of where they're going. You know what I mean.
But you go ahead and start us off with seedon Okay.

Speaker 1 (29:15):
George, here you said Kentucky. I just don't understand. I
don't know who Kentucky is as a basketball team. I
don't know who they're trying to be. I don't know
the image of their team. I don't know if they're

(29:35):
well if they can't shoot the ball that well, George,
So they can't be a three point shooting team, But
that doesn't mean you can't win San Diego. Four years ago,
playing right here and the young singer showed people even
go a long way without shooting the threes. I don't
know who they are, George. I like their athleticism now
that Jayden Quentin's is back. I think that Low plays

(30:00):
guts out in the game, played really well. I think
they've got a lot of good pieces they just don't match.
It's like a jigsaw puzzle that coach folks having a
hard time putting together. So I'm gonna start with the
starting lineup, and you know, Aberdeen at the point I
think they need. They need to start Low Aberdeen at

(30:22):
the two where he belongs. That's his position. He was
one for seven, zero for three, but he's out of position.
I don't like that. I want to get him in
his natural position. I think oh Way needs to be
playing the three, which is where he should be where
it was last year. I mean, that's where he should be.
I would like to see them. If it was myself,
I'd start Cam Williams at the two, okay, and then

(30:45):
I would go, dear body, yes, he's playing better. I
like him as long as he doesn't shoot the three
and only shot one of Thembody's playing better, but limited minutes.
He's gonna play twenty one minutes, and that bothered me.
And I would also go with the big boy at
the center. Now, Malachamarino is playing well and he's going
to be a superstar, so I had no problem if

(31:06):
they continued starting him. But I think I would still
go with the Jayden quint to set the five and
try to.

Speaker 3 (31:12):
Build my starting and start yet and starting, yes.

Speaker 2 (31:15):
And starting them yes.

Speaker 1 (31:17):
Now, I do want our listeners to know it's who
finishes is the important thing, But not with Kentucky because
they started so poorly.

Speaker 2 (31:24):
They need to start with their best.

Speaker 1 (31:26):
It's all there is to it, and let them learn
to play together, George, so that I can figure out
because I don't know who they are.

Speaker 3 (31:34):
Your turn, you tell me, Jerry, I concurred with everything
you say. One of the things I say, Jerry, I
think that a lot of the guys are playing for
the name on the front of the jersey, and I
mean on the back of the jersey, now on the
front of the jersey, Jeri. I think that they think
when they walk into these arenas that they've earned the
right to be a champion, and the teams are gonna
roll over not knowing when they walk into the arena.

(31:56):
The teams can't wait to play them, and they want
a piece of them because they want a piece of
the nostalgia that goes with beating Kentucky. And the players
don't understand the nostalgia and the name of this team.
Jer I watched the hustle and the design. I watched
the guys last year who wanted to make a name
for themselves and try to move further along there. I
watch a lot of guys now to me, look like
that they already think they're gonna be first round and

(32:18):
Loartery Tickson, they're gonna go pro and they're not really
putting out. I watched, I watched the team. They look
you talk about not knowing somebody Kentucky look like they
total strangers to me. They don't pass the ball to
the wide open man and uh uh, what's the young
man from Florida.

Speaker 1 (32:34):
Uh yes, that's Aberdeen Aberdeen.

Speaker 3 (32:37):
Yes, yes, mister Aberdeen. I mean there's no way he
could be because because he doesn't see anybody. Why though
the only thing he sees to me is the basket.
You know, I think a lot of these guys objective
is to go pro, and I understand that they're here
to win a national championship and that's what the Kentucky
fans expected them to win on this level, not worried
about where you're going next year. And I think that's

(33:00):
the problem that Pope faces.

Speaker 1 (33:02):
I agree with you, George. Well they don't said it
the coach of Alabama that they don't pass it well
to each other. Playing high level teams, their assists levels
around eight, nine, ten. Yes, they have a lot of
assists when they're playing low level Division one teams where
they're just better than So that lets you know that
they're not playing.

Speaker 2 (33:22):
Team basketball, Yes, sir, that's obvious.

Speaker 1 (33:25):
Now the question is why last year's team, George, all
the injuries they had, they played together, shared the ball,
played as a team. People love watching them play. They
don't like watching the team play, George, George. The fans
of Kentucky right now, they do not like watching.

Speaker 3 (33:40):
This team play.

Speaker 1 (33:42):
And I agree with them. It's hard to watch them
play because they're not playing. I'm not saying for Kentucky,
but they're not playing for the team. The group five
that are out, no, I mean they're just five voats,
I mean just wayward, five votes, just way.

Speaker 3 (34:01):
And you know what bothers me, Jerry that it doesn't
seem to bother them while they're on the court. It
doesn't seem that the aggressive nature be the you know,
how to jail man. We got to do better. Come on, now,
there's nobody that's in charge, that's got a leader that
can jump up in faces and tell people, oh, don't
you got to play Kentucky, Bob. But then what you're
doing now is not it. You need to hustle, you know.
I watch guys look like they're jogging, you know what

(34:23):
I mean. They don't get back, they don't hustle. You know,
the score don't seem to matter to them, you know
what I mean, who's beating them? You know, it's just like, well,
we'll play on and as long as I got my
twenty five, my twenty I'm cool. Yes, you know what
I mean, George, I don't know.

Speaker 1 (34:38):
When the announcers are just saying throughout the game, Alabama's
playing harder.

Speaker 2 (34:42):
That's a pro us.

Speaker 3 (34:45):
That's the first problem I got, Jared.

Speaker 1 (34:46):
That's a problem. Yes, that's I'm broaching a team.

Speaker 3 (34:50):
Come on, Jerry, you tell me the teams I playing.
We'd probably be going back to practice as soon as
we got back to Kentucky. You you would never ever
the one thing when I coached, the one thing I
always told my player, I don't want anybody to out.
I can lose, yes, but not because they out played us.
It may be be able better than us. They were
more town than us. They had a good night with Jerry.

(35:12):
We can give everything we got every night we show
up on that floor. Yes, and it will take whatever
comes out of that.

Speaker 1 (35:19):
Right. Natos is beating Kentucky down four times in a row.
He's starting to know.

Speaker 3 (35:23):
In history a football school, he started.

Speaker 1 (35:26):
To own Kentucky, and that's unusual. Secondly, here's some of
the things. I'm a stat guy. When you look at
thirty seven rebounds for Kentucky when they're bigger at every
position than Alabama, and Alabama starting center didn't play in
the second half, George. They're larger in every position, more physical,

(35:49):
more athletic, and you look at the statuet and they
were out rebounding. That's just a no go. When you
look at the offensive rebounds and Alabama has fourteen offensive
rebound off scrap and fight to Kentucky's twelve, when they're
larger and more athletic at almost every position, George. That's
a problem Kentucky. That's a problem that folks gonna have

(36:13):
to rectify. I'm not big on those team meetings, but
they're gonna have to rectify it because that should not
happen to this Kentucky team. They are physical enough to
rebound the ball with anyone they play. I thought when
they played Little early in the year, I said, if
Louisville can create second shots out of a chance, but
if Kentucky rebounds the ball, there's no way Louisville can

(36:34):
beat them. Louisville created second shots. Well, every team that's
been playing Kentucky now is creating second shots. Secondly, the
three pointers. George Alabama was fifteen for thirty years. Forty
five of their points. Forty five of their points came
George Frum the three point line. I just want people

(36:56):
to know they had eighty nine points. So I've told
a lot of Kentucky fans this what happens in college
and everybody hates is that they hit a few threes
and everybody gets enamored with the threes. Yes, sir, So
half of their points came from lambs and free throws,
which is what beat Kentucky. It looks like the threes

(37:19):
kill you because you ain't seeing them. But they shot
really well. George shot thirty nine fifteen for thirty eight.
But that's not what beet Kentucky. You still had forty
four points. George scored honestly from layups and free throws.
And that's what Kentucky has to rectify. They're big and strong,

(37:39):
keep people out there, can test shots, rebound the ball
like pac Man and take it down and run it
down people's throats. That's what they should do. But they don't.
They just don't.

Speaker 3 (37:49):
George, not only did Alabama to dominate them from the
three the free throw line, they just dominated them from
the paint too, out rebounded them. I mean, there was
no way that Alabama didn't dominate the game. Jared the
paint and you dominate the three point line, and I
hadn't thought about the free throw line. Yes, but those
two things usually cost you the game. But now you're

(38:12):
telling me that they also dominate you from the free
throw line. That means you're not hustling giving them buckets.

Speaker 1 (38:18):
I'm saying Kentucky was twenty for twenty nine from the
free throw line, but they should be. George they're bigger
and stronger in every position. Right, they should have tried
to foul Alabama out. Alabama was twelve for eighteen. But George,
they still transition buckets, driving lazers. They were running them
off the three line, running them to the basket. They
started shooting layups when Kentucky got close. So George, we

(38:39):
got to get the break. These sports radio will finish
up with the Wildcats after the break. All right, sir,
welcome back seven fifty five.

Speaker 2 (38:47):
George, it's over.

Speaker 3 (38:48):
Let me tell you what, well, let me say something
real quick, Jere, before you go to the club. All right,
we want let's go congratulations after coach Wallace on the
five hundred victory for the women's seen yesterday, they need
to union kicked and Jerry, I know you got touches.
Tomorrow they're going to be two seven foot women basketball
players playing, and one's gonna be in the a SEC
at North Carolina. The other one's gonna be a Texas
seven foot is Jerry, and they're gonna get to play

(39:11):
this year and they will form a pro ball players Jerry,
So what do you think about that? And that's right?

Speaker 1 (39:17):
Have to say, George, Yes, George, we've got we can
touch it right now, I will.

Speaker 2 (39:22):
I can't, George, I can't touch it.

Speaker 1 (39:23):
I can't jump and touch the top of their head anymore.

Speaker 2 (39:25):
So we've got Louisville duke tomorrow talking about that.

Speaker 1 (39:28):
We'll talk about Louisville's Tobacca with Stanford. It was who
people see that. Louisvill's got a lot of weaknesses, a
lot of weaknesses. When that ball doesn't go in the basket, George,
they're not very good. So we'll talk about that. I
hit that tomorrow. But I will have this Chiefs with
me Paul Humphrey tomorrow, So we'll do that now, George.
I'll give them the winner of the contest from last

(39:48):
week or won a hundred bucks tomorrow. Also, we'll talk
about the new conds.

Speaker 3 (39:53):
You lost one hundred bucks though.

Speaker 1 (39:55):
No, no, I did not Bill Hayes, the sponsor hundred bucks.
I just pass it on. That's all.

Speaker 3 (40:03):
You're starting to get better. Yeah, I like it. I
like love said. But you now, as let's say you speak,
I'm thinking, I'm thank you counseling. I think I have
you for the end of the.

Speaker 1 (40:12):
Year, Like I told you, George. If I'm underd dollar
payout this year. That's a big payoff. But guess what, George,
Billy told me. We're doubling it next year. George, think
how many peoples it'll be a thousand. George will be
calling in because of Tinning Country and Commonwealth Dodge. That's
all I can tell you. So we appreciate Billy Hayes.
So George, that's.

Speaker 2 (40:32):
All we've got.

Speaker 1 (40:34):
You'd be safe. Talk you on. I'll see you tomorrow
at the Louisville game. Yes, George, I'm sorry, Johnny. George
and I will not be at the Ballard Butler game.
I am going to the University of Louisville Duke game.
So we're gonna miss tomorrow's game.

Speaker 3 (40:50):
Johnny, give us another game. Yes, in the game, we
will give.

Speaker 1 (40:53):
Us another Gamesports Radio. We love your great job. Shennon,
talk to you all later. Put the smile bye.
