Mister ring You, which I'm goingto start the show with Ring You.
We haven't spoke anything about Kentucky basketball, so of course I'm going to have
to listen to ring You talk abouthow great the Wildcats are and how great
that last win was. But let'sbring the one and only Matt George Williams
(01:49):
to the show. You is,what's up, George, hey man,
I can complain. I can't complainanother great win for the great mighty Wow
Cat. I thought the weather, the mighty mighty, mighty mighty was central.
Now you've given it. I gavethem one mighty jee, I gave
them one mighty to give them nomighty mighty. Let's them get it confused.
(02:15):
Okay, there's only one mighty mightyOkay. Oh you didn't think I
was listen, did you, George? You didn't think I've been listening to
you only got one mighty though,Ja. That's why I want you to
understand. Don't don't. Don't geta confused when I missed the symptom.
There's a few more mighties than that. There's a few great Home are the
greatest of all times, Jerry. That's what I gotta remember. The Cats
(02:35):
are great, but they're not thegreatest of all times. We hold that
right, Okay, you do.What about my bruins, the mighty mighty,
mighty, mighty balle Bruins. Whatare they? Big one, the
orchers. Some people call them theuncles. I like to call him.
A good team. Got really ayoung team compared to most of the teams.
(02:59):
Just the kind of we that werelike a yeah, were after thought.
Yeah. I felt like little brotherto you know, like the mighty
Wildcats to the little brother Louisville.George, I was going with you until
you said after thought. I waswith you. I was listening until you
said after thought. My bruins arenever okay, where would you use the
(03:25):
might mighty, mighty malt by theBruins one and only. You gotta get
you gotta get creative on your own, Joe, I know yet, let
me shilling my stuff. Okay, you a big George, Yes, sir,
Hey George, aren't you the onewho said imitation is the favorite form
of flattery? Yeah, so leaveno, leave me alone then, George.
(03:53):
Now, my greatest form of flatteryis imitation. So you imitation.
I said you our little brother. You can imitate, big brother. I
don't have a problem with it.But you only got so many mighties.
So Jerry, don't get confused. But see Jersey, the problem is this
with the Ballad Bruins. We're relevantthe last twenty five years. Your Central
Yellow Jackets ain't been relevant since RonKing got you to George. What happened?
(04:17):
Yeah, we got We got statechampionships out of day. Okay,
let's don't get confused. We're talkingabout basketball. We're now talking football.
You remember Bob Miller, I doknow, Okay, I know Bob Miller.
Yes, sixteen Cincinnati Bread played pro. I know Bob Miller. Yes,
threw my ball a few times.George, I know bout Miller.
(04:39):
Okay, yes he did. Hethrew up ball a few times. Yes,
but but but that was political theway you broke us up though,
So we ain't gonna get mad. That's all. That's all. Let's move
forward. Let's move forward. Tryingto get me. No, we did.
You know, we took it tothe high and then you know we
(05:00):
don't get along there, George,George, well, first and foremosts because
we have not and we haven't tessUniversity of Kentucky basketball at all, because
of so much going on with myuniversity, in my alma mater that we
have just neglected. You day Bill, a lot going on with you.
But we're not gonna go there yet, George, leave my to university alone.
(05:23):
We're gonna get there, but wegot to do it. Look at
understand you always talk about big brotherfirst. I understand why we're doing this
year. I do understand it.But George, we haven't talked about little
brother. University Kentucky probably two anda half weeks. They're turning them out
though, George, they're playing well. No, don't fight me on this
one. I'm giving you credit. The Cats are playing well. You are,
(05:47):
George, number six in the rankingsten and two overall. Defeated Florida
Saturday and a good game. Ithought Florida was gonna beat them. I
thought road game. I thought theyYou know, of course, Florida's a
tough place to play. The fansare waiting for you, George. At
Florida. If people don't know, they've got a section where their students are
(06:09):
that we played Florida at North Carolinaand t George December. I want to
say eighteenth, which means school's out, George. The student section was still
there. They were there when wegot there three hours before the game,
George, two and a half hoursbefore the game, waiting for you,
calling your players out by name, saying you're not going to make shots,
(06:30):
all the other things. I'm goingto leave the gator bait part alone.
We all know that we don't gothere anymore. But George, they were
waiting for you. They're a very, very hostile crowd, so I'm sure
they were waiting for the Cats.I'm sure. I love it. Love
it that way it should be.Jarry. Yeah. No, great college,
great college atmosphere, and the firsthalf they had Kentucky really in a
little bit, George. They madeshots that they normally don't. They shot
(06:54):
well from the three point line theyusually don't. I think they had five
or six threes in the first half, two of them in George banked two
of the men. I taped it. I went to Louisville with you Saturday.
I take Kentucky. I come back, George. They were banking in
threes. I said, Uh,Coach Cali Perry knew that. I went
on. If they just stayed thecourse, they'd be fine. Great rite
(07:17):
and I said, they got tenof them, Joe, are you right
they were shooting lights out, baby, No, they were. So what
we're gonna do is, Matt loadCoach Caliperry. That's the second one I
sent you, and we're going tolisten to coach Cal's press carrns for about
a minute and thirty seconds, George. Then we're going to start to talk
about this team. This team thatCoach Caliperry's put together. Still not completely
(07:41):
healthy. The Roe has not playedthe last four games. Need to get
him back. He is a truelockdown defender, excellent athlete and unselfish with
the ball, so he will helpa lot of people. Don't understand.
Some people want to play the game, and they want to share the ball
off and some people want to playthe game and score the ball offensively.
(08:03):
Allah me, I was a gunGeorge. I didn't want to pass to
anybody. Coach Grub had to makeme pass George to Darryl and those guys.
I wanted to shoot it. Butwhen they get THEO back, that's
a great addition of starter back.And then we're still waiting. I can't
believe this that Javanovitch is still sittingout. It's almost unreal. We have
to We're gonna have to wait andsee what transpires with the NCAA with that,
(08:26):
But Kentucky's roster is deep. Ifyou remember George, A lot of
people believed that Bradshaw was not goingto play because he had Lebron James,
agent Paul Well. He's playing.Hit a huge three George, huge three
with his perimeter skills, made agreat coach kyro ran a great base,
(08:48):
one out of bounds, played, got him an open shot, knocked it
down, got him going, andthen he hits a huge three with a
big block at the end. Bradshaw'splaying really well for Kentucky and also Onionsu's
back, George, he's back. They've got a big body to bang and
beat with people. Of course,he's got all the guards. He's always
done a great job of recruiting guardsand speed. So George Kentucky's fairly formidable.
(09:11):
But let's listen to coach cal andthen I'm gonna get your comments after
the press conference. Uh yes, what change in the second half? Florida
obviously came out physical. If youhave to adjust to that style, player
webley change in the second half, other players change. I let Orlando do
(09:33):
most of the coaching in the firsthalf, and I just said, all
that's enough of this. But therewere we they had twenty three points shot,
we gave them two breakaway layups becauseit's just threw it away, and
they banked two threes, and wegave them so many open threes they're gonna
(10:00):
bake them. So our thing inthe second half was we're not doing that.
That's not who we are. Andthe guys locked down defensively and played.
I thought DJ Wagner was as goodyou know, and he played for
us, had one turnover. Heand Trey. I told the team,
(10:22):
well, there are two things. At that time, I just said guys,
we're down four baskets and we playedthat way and we gave this and
we gave that and we're fine. But as we were playing the second half,
I just said, guys, justso you know, Trey and DJ
will only sub when they feel likecoming out. Well, then Trey cramped
up, couldn't stay anymore. Butit was you know. And then DJ
(10:48):
or Robert played awful. But Itold him I believe in you. Just
make easy plays. Quit trying tomake the hardest play possible. And I
put him back in and there wasI ain't sell them, No, I'm
leaving them in. And I toldthem, I'm leaving you in because I
believe in you. And then thesame with Aaron. In the first half.
He got muscled, he got manhandled, couldn't come up with the ball,
(11:09):
couldn't make a layup. He startedthat way in the second half and
I said, I'm not going toplay you. And then we played him
and we ran out of bounds playfor him to get a shot, and
I said, that's how much Ibelieve in you, but I can't fight
for you. And they're good.Let me just say I watched all the
tape and they play a little. They can really shoot. They play as
(11:31):
fast as we play, if notfaster. In the first half they beat
us up the court. We nevergot matched down. Second half week you
met perfect. So, George, when you're looking at the stats of this
Florida game, I want people tounderstand that coach Cali Perry's correct. Both
teams played extremely fast. Kentucky hadsixty eight field goals, so did Florida.
(11:58):
Both teams limited their turnovers. Itwas an entertaining game to watch,
George, if you didn't get achance to watch it all very entertaining game
to watch. But when it waswinning time, Kentucky made huge plays with
young kids, which is impressive. What did you think of the game,
George, Well, Jared, thefirst thing you got to think of it
as a coach. As a coach, you want to see these kind of
(12:18):
games where you're playing against talent isas good as yours, if not better
in some places. And then yougo to their home and you're able to
play them in a close game,Jerry. And then you're a very very
young team and you're able to pullout the victory. Jerry. That for
the coach was more inspiring than anythingbecause he got to see what he had,
what kind of team he really has. And then when you go away
(12:41):
and you stay the environment is likeit is and you are able to put
victory off jer That expresses that you'rea very, very talented team, Jerry.
And to win a two point game, four point game, those are
the games coaches love to win morethan the twenty five point blowouts and fans
don't understand that. But you getto see what kind of heart, how
you play down at the end, what the clutch players are, who you
(13:03):
go two players are. You getto see a lot in those games,
Jed, that you don't get tosee. And blowouts a lot of fans
love to see, but coaches loveto see the one two point wins,
especially when you win it on theroad. That is even more impressive.
Jet. No, it really is. This is a crazy stat, George,
for Kentucky fans hard to believe. Also, the Kentucky has won six
(13:26):
consecutive times at Gainesville. That hasnot happened since Adolph Rup nineteen sixty four.
Has not happened. I mean,Florida is a very tough place to
play, George, really it,And coach Coll's now won six games in
a row had happened since in nineteensixty four, so right at this time,
coach Col's got the Gators number. But Florida's going to be a very
(13:48):
good team this year, George. They will improve. Don't got a match
it. Golden has done a verygood job with that team and they're continuing
to improve. I like their bigmen. They play inside out, George.
Even though they play fast, George, they want to play inside out.
That's why coach Cali Perry was talkingabout how they were man handling Bradshaw
early. They were because they're they'reinside, physical presence, George. They
(14:11):
kill people on the boards. They'rehuge, only in Kentucky by three.
Yes, and not only that,Jared, they matched up with Kentucky because
they also have big guards. Also. That's why I said they had talent
in many area that Kentucky didn't haveas good I have, not better.
I mean they were. That's avulnerable team that you'll see in tournament time
(14:31):
there. That was like a tournamenttype atmosphere and game. So that is
really very beneficial to Kentucky later onin the season, and a lot of
people not looking at it, butlater on the season that kind of environment
will help them a lot more.Oh no, no, George, if
Florida continues to improve, especially theirhalf court interior defense. They gave Kentucky
(14:54):
too many points in the paint.DJ Wagner lived at the rim. He
lived at the rim. But ifthey improved that, George, they're a
tough out come in CAA tournament timebecause of their size, because of their
length and size, George, They'rea tough out. Yeah. I think
they still are tough out. Evenwith that win yesterday. I thought both
of those showed that they both highcalib NCAA tea. But I think that
(15:18):
if they stay, you know, but we know each one of them are
gonna get better. So we knowthat Florida's gonna be a hard out.
We know that Kentucky's gonna be hardout. So they shows that the SEC
does have outstanding basketball. Oh.I mean, that's well, George.
The SEC has really improved basketball ways. We understood their football prowess. We
understood that, we all did,but they're basketball the last eight or nine
(15:41):
years has really improved. No.Before that, Billy Donovan when he went
back to back at Florida, Georgewas kind of the arrival of the second
era after eight offer ups run withKentucky. But when you go back to
back in Florida national champions, whichBilly Donovan did, that kind of brought
the SEC back to the light ofari a basketball conference. Also always had
(16:06):
great talent, but they went backto back Georgia and Florida. People don't
know what back to back. Well, Lin Cruell went to a final Ford
Florida also George. Florida is agood team, good team historically. But
what I think, I think theadding of the coaches that have gone to
the SEC now have made a differencein what the SEC looks like. I
(16:27):
think they have great coaches. Imean back in the day, basically was
eight off r up Alabama, Tennessee. That's why you had your only coaches
because the SEC ru didn't care aboutbasketball. But now I think they've taken
to it. They've had the outstandingcoaches around the country jail and you can
see what coaching does. It doesmake a difference, Oh, it does.
No Kentucky and the SEC has arrived. Alabama of course was number one
(16:49):
for a long time last year throughall the turbulence that they had. Yeah,
George this Kentucky team. This isthe thing that impressed me because I'm
always leery of young teams, andso are Kentucky fans. If everybody's being
honest with themselves come tournament time, the youth has not advanced. He had
(17:12):
Oscar back to back player of theYear for two years in a row.
You've had great players, but theyhave not advanced, George to this team
went five for twenty from the three. George, five for twenty. He
still scored eighty seven points and wona tough road game. That's not the
(17:34):
recipe. Like coach Payne said, his team shot well and still lost.
Just the opposite for Kentucky. Theyshot poorly from the three, forty five
percent from the two, seventy onepercent from the free throw line, which
is decent for a college team, but it's not great. They were twenty
for twenty eight, which means theymissed eight free throws, George. And
they were five for twenty from thethree point line twenty five percent and still
(17:56):
came away with a win. George. They may be this team may be
a little bit more resilient than alot of Kentucky teams. My question is
this, do you think Dillingham. You heard coach Kyle talk about it.
He didn't play well. He triesto do. He wants to make everything
a highlight instead of making the easyplay. George. Does his play start
(18:17):
to flatten out as he gets intothe conference or will he continue at the
level he's been playing because Dillingham hasbeen a super player. I mean,
people now know Shephard may be thebest all around player on the team,
but Dillingham is a little punch offthe bench, that off the bench that
Kentucky's needed. Does he get itgoing again Dillingham? Well, Jed,
(18:38):
let me say this, and youmentioned that body. But the one man
that you didn't and I noticed thisat the Louisville Kentucky game is the leader,
the leader to me and the orchestratoris Wagner. Wagner seems that everyone
seems to gravitate to him. WhenKyle tops out, he shouts out their
instructions. He's a guy that theygo to. But they you look at
(19:00):
your and you talked about the guard, Jerry. The thing that Kentucky is
the deep in two positions almost everywhere. Mostly all the players have high IQs
at basketball. But the one thingthat I'm gonna bring now is the Kentucky
is one of the most fortunate teamand your head coach said this a long
time ago. You win championships inthe NCAA by having great coint guard Dillingham,
(19:25):
Jared, let me finish. Theydon't have to worry about Dillingham.
They got Shepherd and they got Wagner. They all are point guard. Their
very few teams have three basically couldbe all American point guard at the same
position plan at the same time. They can beat you with any guard.
If you're not doing well today,Kyl has the option to move you over.
I move somebody out the point guardposition, jail. So that's what
(19:45):
to me makes the more dangerous. They have three point guards that are outstanding.
Hey, dude, George, that'sjust the fact of the matter.
Guard play usually wins championships. That'sa fact. Georgia is seven five.
We're gonna get to our first break, talk a little bit more about the
Wildcats and what we see going forthwith their future. This is Eve Sports
Radio for numbers five zero, two, five seven, one seventy nine hundred.
(20:07):
Do not forget Washington, Michigan tonightplaying for the title. College Football's
national Championship is tonight. I'm pullingfor Washington. I'm sorry, I'm not
pulling for coach Harball and Michigan. We'll talk to you in a minute.
Welcome back to Eves Sports Radio seventwenty nine. Unbelievable it is. Let
(20:33):
me make sure because I'm going Januaryeighth, twenty twenty four, Monday in
the louisv Area. George, wegot a caller on. But George,
I got to make a correction, and you didn't correct me, and no
one else did. I caught itmyself. I said Kentucky was ten and
two. They're eleven and two.George, you're slipping on your cats.
You slipping And I got something tosay after we deal with the college.
I want to say one other thingabout Kentucky on the way to the championship.
(20:55):
If I could go, ok you, no, nover, you want
to do it now for I bringthem off for time? I could right
now, Okay. And one ofthe things that Jed we were talking about
that separates Kentucky is when you lookat Shepherd and you look at Wagner,
you can look at the maturity thatthey played with Jeded, you can see
whether their fathers or their grandfathers haveprepared them for the moment. They played
beyond their years. But you know, I can't predict a championship with him
(21:18):
Jaied, because forty minutes anything canhappen. But their maturity is beyond most
young eighteen year olds. And that'sanother thing that Cal has an advantage to
him, the maturity that those youngmen bring to the game that they've been
prepared for and there beyond being freshman. George, you're right, though,
because he's got three different point guardson his roster. Shepherd very disciplined.
(21:41):
I would say, I like tosay lethargic, the way he plays strategic.
You've got Dillingham very explosive, Georgegot me very explosive, hard to
guard, game changer. And thenWagner has turned into the rock. He's
steadied, he's not looking for hispoints, he's not trying to outscore everyone.
(22:03):
He's playing team basketball. George,he's got three different point guards on
his roster. This is probably thefirst year I can legitimately say that he's
got three different point guards. Hereone hundredercent crew, I agree, No,
No, you're right. Let's getyour friend man I'll play at different
tempos. Yes, no, oh, George, completely different players, completely
(22:27):
different John, Welcome to the sportsradio. How are you. I'm good,
Jerry. I'm driving across Herrets Creekthis morning. I know you know
where I'm at and I will,yes, I am. I'm right across
the old single lane bridge. You'renot far from me, brother, You're
right around the corner from Hey.I go down Bath Avenue to Hayes Kennedy
(22:48):
every morning's six thirty of my dog. So you believe me. I know
where you at. I can signyou, I know where you eat.
There you go. Hey, listen, George, I got you back to
black and go back in the dayin the Crimson and in the old Warhawk.
See now what Jarry don't want toreally talk about the only reason Bailer
got on the map was because they'rebrusting, and then they had to go
(23:12):
ahead and build that school to takethem boys off of the creek to Westport.
But he don't want to talk aboutthat because his brother. He don't
remember when you bring that age,I know I always bring it up.
I'm sorry. I hate to dothat to you, but no, going
to Kentucky basketball. I gotta saythis. I loved that three and a
half points I was getting this weekend. But I gotta say they made me
(23:33):
nervous. They made you nervous, they did. They took it to the
end. Oh, they took itto Oh. I'm gonna tell you what.
I almost hit that cash out buttonseveral times. But I tell you
how far I go back in Kentuckybasketball. It's gonna age me. For
my daddy used to turn the radioon back when it had old radio tubes,
(23:57):
and you could see it and throughthat felt cloth, you know,
and it had the warm up andthen it get all staticky, and then
all of a sudden k would wouldcome in there, you know, but
just one more point. I letyou all go. But I don't understand
these people that are haters, youknow. Uh Like when I grew up,
(24:18):
I pulled for Louisville and I pulledfor Kentucky equally, except when they
played each other. You know, you went ahead and took your school.
And I just don't understand. Andthey both represent the state of Kentucky.
They're both great teams. And Ican't stand it when somebody says I want
Louisville to lose every game. Iwant Kentucky to lose every game. That
to me is ignorance. John,John, leave your information. I'm sending
(24:42):
you a gift card. I'm sendingyou a gift card. Great. Oh,
I appreciate that. Jerry. We'regonna go to the Oreos and eat
together. Yet we're right there together, brother, as we're right there,
we would definitely do it. We'llgo to the Oreos. Right on River
Road, George. I grew upon Ivish Lane, right up the road
from you, and then right now, I live out in the ghetto there
(25:03):
in Hunting Creek. But you're justright across the street from me. You
know that. Yeah, ab outthere in the ghetto. You know where
well coach Wayne Houston is. Youknow where he is. I know where
big fella is. John, Great, call you leave your information. George.
I'll do it, Thank you,Thank you. John. Here's the
first thing I want people to understand. I want everybody to understand what John
(25:29):
is saying. What he says isa pallor took the Brothers. I want
everybody to understand he out here inProspect in the early sixties, George,
there's a street called Shirley, Okay, a predominantly black street. They were
in a lot of the families wayback in the early nineteen were indentured servants.
(25:51):
They lived, they had them liveon Shirley So and they could serve
the community out in prospect. Theseare just facts you, Oh, Okay.
Then in nineteen sixty eight, sixtyseven, sixty eight, sixty nine,
where I moved to from Newburgh wasKen Carla. It was another planned
community. I want people that's whywhen everybody talks about, oh, no,
(26:11):
planned communities are bad, I'm like, are y'all kidding me? That's
how West Unsales parents, Wes boughtthe home. There were twenty nine thousand
dollars George in sixty eight, whichwas a lot of money. My parents
twenty nine thousand dollars. We wereside by side the Booths. It was
another planned black community in prospect.I want people to understand that in the
(26:33):
sixties they were doing planned black communitiesand people weren't going crazy. They were
not not like today. Things arereally messed up today. I want y'all
to understand me really messed up.So Ken Carla George was a section of
probably twenty black families. The Booths, Oh, the Langfords. Alice Houston's
(26:53):
dad was the first one in theneighborhood. I just want y'all to understand,
well, at that time they builtBallard, all the players used to
go to Westport. That was theWhite Gibson that were some of the Jackson
boys played with McDermott. Great teamsplayed for Bill osen. Everybody knows Bill
Oson. That's where he got alot of his African American players. Then
(27:15):
Ballard was built and the zoning tookall of Shirley and most of Prospect to
Ballard, not Westport. George, that's what John continues to allude to,
that Ballad got all the brothers. That's what he's saying. George. So
anyway, and beach Terrace, youknow what I mean. You didn't bring
(27:37):
that up, George. I usedto live in beach of Terrace. Don't
start, George. I went toNewburgh first. Like you're going crazy.
I'm telling you, George, we'regonna get the break when we come back.
We're gonna listen to Coach Paynes pressconference, and you know it,
you've gone crazy. Nahmers and likeningfrom beach It to George. You know
(28:00):
how many players lived in beach ofTerrace. But do you know how many
players lived in Newburgh? George?Do you know in nineteen sixty eight Thomas
Jefferson defeated your mighty mighty, MightyMighty Central, and Seneca defeated Henry Bacon's
Great Male. There was almost aThomas Jefferson Seneca High School State basketball Finals
(28:21):
if there wasn't a school called Glasgowand Jerry Dunn that beat both schools,
Thomas Jefferson in the semi finals,Seneca in the finals. George, Just
think of that. Eves Sports Radiowill be back in a minute. You're
listening to the sports Talk seven ninedays. Welcome back to Eves Sports Radio.
And yes, I am barking.I'm barking like a dog. I
(28:42):
run all Central Yellowjackets, all Warhawks, Eastern, I run them all.
I just want you all to knowBallard Nation. George, welcome back to
the show. How are you man? We do run into a wall doing
a commercial? You came out backon the show hallucinating. I don't understand
and what happened to your place?George? I do know? You do?
(29:07):
You know you got stung when youcame down in Central, Oh.
You played when it wasn't no realcompetition. We go ahead, George.
You wasn't one of the big boysdominated Central dominated the city, got mail
about it. There also the bestteam in the country, gerographer Bobby Turner,
you remember them, Red Anderson, you remember them, and Caron you
know them. Well, let's let'stalk real basketball. You're talking play basketball
(29:33):
now, let's talk about where's yourreputation at the drug boat? Where's your
reputation that? What? Where is? What? What wi players pay?
That were real? Bomb? Iwant your reputation. How many championship you
got down there, George. Nothing. I'm not gonna lie to you.
That was real. I don't rememberyou down Oh I was down to George,
but we got no championships. Wewere down there, George, we
(29:55):
just didn't win championships. I'm downto tay you. You had to come
in not the Dirt Bowl was thereal deal. So George, everybody before
we get to Louisville basketball. Okay, what do you think about this number
one, number two? Here's thefunny thing, George football number one,
number two. This is the fourthtime that one is played two and they're
(30:17):
both been undefeated. And you knowwhat number two has won all four games,
So this is the fifth time.Isn't that interesting? That number two?
So Washington who I'm pulling for?George. I just can't see them
hand the championship to cheating Michigan.I'm not killing the players, George.
But the bottom line is their rules. Rules. You're supposed to be held
accountable to rules when you get caught. There's supposed to be George. There's
(30:41):
supposed to be ramifications for breaking rules. But I guess not anymore, not
anymore, just cheat and win. What do you think? Well, well,
first I want to say that Jay, you just killed Paul Washington.
I mean, I just took Michigan. As you made that statement, I
threw my money towards Michigan, youknow what I mean. But other than
(31:03):
that, I am so totally rightwith you. You want us to obey
laws. Now back talk about thelaws. Then when you break the laws,
then we can depend on who youare. You can you know,
you can change the law. Butyeah, I get so tired of you
know, like like people get inconferences and the rule was that you couldn't
play them for three years. Butif you win, and we the first
to ever do it, now wewant to change the rules. Jared,
(31:26):
thank you. I'm like you,Jaie, I don't know what's going on
with society now. You gotta havelaws and rules and you gotta either follow
them or don't make them. Don'tmake my grandma say. If you make
me promise you something, I'm gonnado it. You know what I mean.
And that should be the thing thatshould be j Just your bind used
to be your word. If you'regonna have your word, you stand back.
(31:47):
You're gonna have a law. Youstand back, you have a rule,
you stand back. And I hatethem. Don't get me wrong,
there're a lot of I hate,but Jared, I've had to pay a
lot of those rules and laws inmy life. Greg sink you said,
these are adopted by the members. That's all I'm telling you. All Michigan
voted upon these rules. Also, they're voted on upon by the members.
(32:08):
George. So again, here's theonly question, George, and I'm asking
you. I want you to tellyou my trip pin. You may disagree.
No, you might not do it. George. This is what we
called Michigan doing. So if wecalled them doing that, how much more
have they done that? We haven'tcalled I'm just asking, or do we
think people think that this is theonly thing that they've ever done wrong?
(32:29):
I just want to know, oris it? What do you think?
I don't have a problem with Derek, how we didn't catch you doing it,
but we did catch you doing it. Then you need to pay the
price for what you did. Ifthere's a rule in place that this is
what you should follow, that's allI care about, Jaid. I'm not
gonna judge you by somebody I don'tknow you done. But if I know
you've done it, and you sayyou've done and we can prove it,
(32:50):
then you got to pay the price. I hate it. You know you
did. Everybody else did everything right. It's like you know your pride should
tell you, well, you knowyou should have known better. You see
them do it. He didn't stopthem, so I had to punch back.
Hey, George, George, you'reright before we get to our last
break, you go into Louisville.George, you know what my dad used
to tell me. Okay, theschool told me you've done that, So
(33:14):
I know you've done other things. So I'm just gonna make sure I get
a few licks for those two.You know it so I know that's not
the only thing you've done. ButGeorge, you are right in American society.
If you're not caught doing it,I can't say you're guilty. But
in my dad's book, Homeboy, you got taught doing that. And I'm
(33:34):
getting a few more licks because Iknow you've done something else. Eve Sports
Radio Phone numbers five, ser George, go ahead and he leave you with
this, JA and I want youto so you can think about it the
next time so you won't do it. Phone numbers five zero, two,
five, seven, seventy nine hundred. We're gonna be back with Kenny Payne's
press conference after the break. Welcomeback to Sports Radio seven nine. I
(34:00):
have the George Williams on the otherline before we cannot miss this George.
Monday at Manuel Bullet East sixteenth versusManuel one at six pm Christian Academy ranking
is ninth and number nine seed versusBallard the eighth seed. At seven to
thirty pm at Manuel. At Butler, we've got Jeffersontown the twelfth seed versus
(34:23):
Fairdell, the fifth seed at Butler. Also beth Haven the thirteenth seed versus
Butler the fourth seed. At Mailyou've got more of the eleventh seed versus
Sant Xavier the sixth seed. Andat six pm you've got Seneca the fourteenth
seed versus Mail Bulldogs the third seed. At Trinity you've got Pleasure Ridge Park
(34:44):
the fifteenth seed versus Trinity the twoseed. And at six pm Holy Cross
the ten seed versus Eastern the seventhseed. At eight pm, those are
the lit games tonight. So George, I'll be watching the college football game.
So I'm not going to be ableto make it to the Ballard game.
But what do you think? Whatdo you think of his l I
T? Who do you think pullsit out? Yeah? I haven't got
(35:07):
to see high school this year. They've been so so scouted. I haven't
got to see it. But I'ma rab with man you. I like
mister Coleman over there. So I'ma rab with man you. Did you
know what I mean? I don'tknow what, but he's the number one
seed and I'm gonna see if hecan do what he's supposed to do.
I'm home and I'm gonna go.I haven't even known. I haven't watched
any high schools either. I wantedto go to the Ballard game, and
(35:29):
I may get out to the firsthalf and get back for the college football
game because I have not seen ahigh school game this year. George,
we were remissed. We've got toget out to that. We can't do
that, George. When they play, I don't know how we're going when
they play. It's just hard tofind out. I'll start to tell you
the paper does not do the jobthat it used to. But I'm not
(35:49):
gonna do the curier. Let's getto Kinney Payne. Man play Kenny Paynes
for a minute, half go ahead, hurry of George. Okay, I
got a questions. Now this isthis is what I want to know before
you play. And I wanted todo this, and I want your opinion
after we played Kenny. Now,whutill played that other night? He would
field goals one of three, threepoints, O O for one, three
(36:10):
throws one for two, rebound threeUh yeah uh, and then had one
of six three points. Now,my boy, uh Miller played two minutes
one for one, three pointers, one for one. He had uh one
of six at three point. Now, I want to get your answer after
(36:30):
this is over. We're talking aboutevery man. Every man upright, go
ahead play. I know, MattPress, Kitty Payne, quit killing Hatfield.
You're like Butcher Beard, you don'tkill Hatfield. But we'll talk about
it after Kitty's press conference. Youknow, obviously Pittsburgh's a pretty good team.
(36:51):
Shoot the ball well, they playwith a swagger, they tough,
They're a great rebounding team. Feltlike we started the game in the first
five minutes. They were the aggressoron the boards, which hurt us,
put us on our heels, whichdidn't set the tone for the way we
talked about we wanted the game togo. But at the end of the
game, when I look at ouroffensive numbers fifty one percent from the field,
(37:16):
forty seven percent from the three, eighty six percent from the free throw
line, then I go back to, what is that? What is that?
I know we're down, man,I'm not making excuses. I know
we miss JJ, I know wemiss Trey being on the floor. I'm
not making excuses. But I'm saying, if we shoot those numbers, if
(37:37):
we play offense that efficiently, howhow are we not winning that game?
And so then I go back toeighteen turnovers. Then I go back to
how many times do we file athree point shooter. You know, it's
the mental the mental focus to beable to fight through and play winning basketball.
(38:04):
Yeah, you did some things well, but we all know that winning
is hard and you got to doa lot of things well consistently if you
want to win. Thank you,Matt. I appreciate that. Okay,
Guys, Georgia asked me a questionabout Hatfield, the exact same you must
have spoke with coach Beard. I'venot even trusted you you. Nope,
Nope, I ain't spoke to himat all. Okay, he was the
(38:27):
same way yesterday, and I willagree on this aspect that I would like
to see him rebound the bowler ballmore aggressively like he had the last four
games. But George, you're atthe games and you know this is true.
You will see him down there ceilingasking for the ball on both big
boxes, and you'll see guys dribblingthe ball, dribble toward a half court
(38:50):
dhowitt, and not even look athim. You've seen him get frustrated down
there. I have numerous times whenthey don't look for him. George,
big men have to get help. You know that there has been plays that
get him now rebounding the ball. You're a hundred percent correct when you went
through his statline and you said Hunleyhad field three only three rebounds. That's
(39:12):
unacceptable when you're talking about thirty minutesof play. But at the same aspect,
three shots falls on coach Payne. So I've had numerous people. They're
always textbo Jerry, quiet, Jerry. Jehotah, jahodah, you're quiet,
Jerry. You won't you don't talkabout Louisville, Jerry. I told them
to listen to my show, George. Him not getting enough shots falls on
(39:36):
as a big man falls on thecoach. So that part I'm putting on
coach pain the rebounds I'm putting onHunley hadfield go ahead, go ahead,
Well, Jared, I disagree withyou a bit there because I am down.
Don't write there. They doubled himyesterday. The outside man should have
came back door Jerry and made afeast of them getting lay up Jerry.
(39:57):
His assistant total should have been totallyoutstanding. The backside man didn't come.
He he didn't get the ball. But the guy that could have got the
ball when he was open was williamsNow. I say the one thing I
say about this young man, Miller, he's a team player. Because Jerry
came off the bench with about twentyfive seconds, they gave him the ball,
he still ran to play, gotopen and then took his three.
(40:19):
But then me, I got thatball soon to touch my hand and been
flying to the rim. You knowwhat I'm saying. I wouldn't even though
about what Coachaine's gonna say about Okay, it ain't gonna matter, Okay,
but this boy came out, playedteam ball with twenty five seconds to go.
You put him in with five secondsand take him out of halftime.
You see, he played with pointfive or the first half. But he
plays team ball. And I thinkwhen him and the Johnson, the other
(40:42):
Johnson played on defense, Jeredy upclose and personal, you know, and
they get the ball to the openman, I think that you got to
play people. If you're a teamplayer, you gotta get me the pail.
You got thirty seconds to finish it. George, what you just said,
and I'm not disagreeable. That isa reflection of coach pay not playing
(41:04):
it. Mister Miller. What youjust said. You said that he will
defend the ball. He's a teamplayer. He hit his open three.
He played two minutes. Coach Payneneeds to reevaluate his bitch. What you're
saying, and I'm not disagreeing withyou. I'm not. I'm gonna get
into the Louisville game more tomorrow.E Sports Radio, you have a fantastic
Monday. Be safe, God willit. I'll talk to you on Tuesday. Bye bye
