(00:00):
Back to Eve's Sports Radio. Yesit is, thank you, Matt,
Yes it is. It is Maythe seventeenth, twenty twenty four Friday,
a second day of the PGA onehundred and sixth plane of the PGA Championship.
I am Jerry Eves. Serious mattershave occurred outside of Ohollo Country Club.
(00:20):
We do. There's two incidents Iwant to explain to you all.
Two incidents. There was a fatalityaccident that had nothing to do with the
golf course or the players this morning, which had delayed the round at least
forty five minutes because traffic was backedup. There was a fatality that had
(00:43):
nothing to do with the players ofthe PGA one hundred and six plane.
Secondly, though, there's a hugeincident that Scotti Scheffler, the number one
player in the world, has beendetained and arrested outside of Valhallo Golf Course.
The reasons for that, speculations arestill unknown. I don't know.
(01:07):
I'm watching it as I speak rightthis minute on ESPN Television. I'm in
Chicago, Illinois at the NBA preDraft camp, but I'm watching it right
now as I speak on ESPN.They have broken into it. That's all
that has been on. I've beenlistening to Jeff Darlington, an ESPN media
announcer that was in the proximity.I don't know if he was in Scotty's
(01:30):
car or across the street trying toget into the course, but he has
been trying to describe what he hasseen. So I would ask for everyone
to go to it. I'm sureI'm on, but dang it, go
to ESPN and look at this becausethis is huge, breaking news. Huge.
First thing again, before I bringon Coach Beard, there was a
(01:53):
fatality. I want to make surethat prayers go out to that family.
The family members of that family.I do not know a name. That
had nothing to do with the playersor the PGA tournament from what I've received
off at VSPN, but we wantto make sure we say that first.
(02:13):
Secondly, there was a second incidentafter the road, Shelbyville Road was blocked
off. Something has happened with ScottieScheffler being detained and rested. I don't
want to add anything. My speculationswere he must have been trying to get
to the golf course. Police didn'tknow, he didn't know. He may
have bumped a police officer. I'veheard that that is incorrect, allegedly.
(02:37):
I know nothing. I'm doing thesame thing you all are doing, the
speculating. So Matt, let's bringon Coach Beard to the show. Hey,
Coach Beard, how are you?Hey, good good Friday, Jerry,
good Pride Friday. I know, and we've also we also have the
one and only bring you mister GeorgeWilliams. George Williams, Welcome to the
show. How are you wonderful,Misterves? How you doing? And you
(03:00):
got a lot of that right, you know what I mean. They have
arrested Scottie and he dragged the policeman. He didn't drag it. What happened
was the policeman tried to detain himand he placed his body on top of
the car and Scotty kept going andthen he stopped the car and then they
got him at the car and theyimmediately put handcuffs on him. In so
(03:21):
right now they're in a confrontation withthat. Yes, best we know right
now, best we know what they'veshown on ESPN And Coach Beer, you
were watching it with me as theywere walking Scottie away. Players were supposed
to be able to enter they weresupposed to have been able to get through.
Something happened between the information with theirsaying Jeff Darlington again, guys,
(03:46):
we want to stay to the facts. Jeff Darlington is making a statement that
they were telling him that they didn'twant him to cross the street either.
He was trying to get into Valhallabecause he was media. For some reason,
the information was disseminated to the policeofficers that the players were supposed to
be able to enter. But Coachbeerd everyone knows. Shelbyville Road is two
(04:09):
in both directions with the fatality, one side was blocked off, Coach,
so they were using one side ofthe street, one lane going one way,
one lane going the other. Theother side was completely blocked off.
I don't know which one, Coach. I don't want to tell people something
I don't know, but this iswhat I do know. So they were
trying to have cars creeped by eachother on one side. I hope they
(04:32):
say that Scotty trying to cut acrosson the empty side try to enter into
a val Hollow country club and atthat time that's when the confrontation happened.
Guys, I've never seen this.I've been watching PGA Georgia and Coach Beard
since Tiger Woods emerged brought back inthe mid nineties to late newies. Okay,
(04:55):
I have never seen a situation likethis ever. I've never seen a
player aimed like this ever. Thisis is serious issues And from what Jeff
Darlington, ESPN announcer said Coach Beardis that they told him in the backway
from the car that Scottie Scheffler wasgoing to jail. That's what he said
on ESPN. So that's where weare. There will be another update at
(05:19):
seven point thirty on when will thetournament begin. There's rain, but that
has nothing to do with it.They play outside in the rain. It's
an outdoor sport like football. SoCoach Beer, what do you think from
what you've learned and what we werewatching it this morning? This is about
six thirty your time, five thirtynine. I don't know. I mean,
(05:43):
we'll just have to wait and see, Jerry. I mean, seriously,
this is the This is about ascrazy as it can get, you
know, especially in a major sportlike the PGA. You know, players
do come, you know early inthe morning, especially the ones that are
starting in their first round. Youknow, early in the morning and we'll
(06:09):
wait and see what they say.Okay, it's nutty, it's nutty,
it doesn't make any sense, andI'm gonna I'm gonna reserve comment. Oh
right, I'll see them taking awayin an unmarked George, I want to
(06:30):
tell you all this. I've beenout there. I'm so glad. I
went out for four days and theyhad done a great job of getting people
in and out of Alohola. Agreat job Monday through Thursday, a great
job. Yesterday was seamless. ButGeorge, from what you've detained, what
do you think in your opinion?Let me tell you this, George and
Coach Beer, the players have markedAlexis. I want everybody to understand this,
(06:54):
right, right right. It's notlike they're driving in in cars that
the police don't know. No,the players have marked Alexis with big player
signs on the side of them towhere everyone knows. Everyone does not have
those cars. I want everybody tounderstand. They all park in a certain
parking lot and their cars are dentifiable. There's no question about that. So
(07:15):
George, now that I've told youthat, what do you think? And
the police officer being fair with everybodyshould have known that car. They were
side by side because there are bigsigns on the side. Guys, everyone
doesn't have them. They're probably probablyeighty of these cars. They all park
right out front of the media parkingplace. Coach Beard, you see them.
(07:38):
I said to my son yesterday,Well, these cars are gonna go
cheap when it's over, you know, like short miles. Everybody wants to
buy them, but they have allthe decals. They will take the decals
off. But there's no way thatpeople did not know who was in those
cars. Coach Beard, just beinghome street to George, what do you
think, Jeh, I don't know. I don't know what the confrontation was
between You know, when you driveoff with a policeman on your car,
(08:01):
you know, that kind of tellsyou that you're not doing the right thing.
Also, I mean, I don'tknow if he thought that he had
more privilege than he did and hewasn't gonna listen to anybody and dro through.
I don't know that. I don'tknow if the officer was a local
policeman, you know, you know, because they had to get other police
to help because it was such abig event and high communication went, you
know, communications everything. He mayhave been told letting no one through because
(08:22):
of what was going on with thebus running over the person at the fatality,
So he had to make a decisionon do I stopt and then Scotty's
got to make a decision. Thisis a police officer telling me what to
do. Do I follow a protocoland fire the officer. I'll do what
I want to do. So there'sa lot of variables, right jas.
I don't want to say what itis, but I think that the communication
(08:43):
between the high command and the policeofficer was probably more of what went down.
He probably had an order for whathe had to do and he was
trying to do it, and Scottythought that he needed to get on the
golf course just to play golf.So I don't know, I'm not really
gonna say what they did exactly.Yeah, this is a different situation.
I do know that from Jeff Darlingtonand everyone that finally cut back to ESPN.
(09:07):
Now they're not at Valhalla at thistime, but Jeff Darlington made a
statement that when Scotty was being detainedthat the police officers had yellow rain jackets
on coach and I just want tobe fair with everybody, They've been identifiable
for four days. I'm gonna justagree with George. You knew when I
(09:28):
was coming in on the bus. It's completely blocked off their thousands. I
mean when I say thousands, Coach, I mean there are thousands of them.
You knew that they were police officers. So what Jeff Darlington tried to
say is that Scotty was saying thatI didn't know it was a police officer,
and George, I have to agreewith you. I'm going to make
this statement. I disagree with thatScotty knew they were police officers. That's
(09:48):
what had been out there, CoachBeard, for the last four days since
Monday. I went every day onthe media bus Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday,
Thursday. They were out there indroves. We knew where they were,
they were conjugated at certain areas, they were helping with traffic control.
That you knew who they were.So it's not an excuse when Jeff Darlington
made the statement that he did notknow it was a police officer. To
(10:11):
George's comment, I don't care ifit was just a bus stop controller,
you still should stop without a doubt. I'm with you on that, George,
So coach made the second question isnow we have a fatality. That's
the first and foremost. Secondly, you've got a huge event, you have
(10:31):
a super Bowl, you have andthis is a super Bowl. Guys,
there's many people that are coming tothis. This is a week long event.
There will be as many people, not as many watching as the Super
Bowl. Don't get me twisted youall, but for a spectator aspect,
you will have eighty five hundred orhave two hundred and fifty thousand plus.
(10:52):
You're gonna have two hundred and fiftythousand plus come through the turnstiles at Valhalla.
It's a huge event. Coach,What do you think this does for
PGA making decision visions with Louisville andgoing forth? What do you think happens?
Coach? But the little that weknow, like George says, we're
speculating, Well, we're going tospeculate all the way through until they investigate
(11:13):
and find out what happened. Iknow the PGA is not they won't be
happy the way that the players youknow are being treated, you know,
regardless of where they are. SoI think I think we should reserve judgment
until the seven thirty press conference thatthey give and you know, and then
go from there. Uh, George, you know, I think you're right.
(11:37):
I mean, when you when youare participating in something, you only
have that on your mind. Youhave a routine that you do in the
morning, in the afternoon, whatever, and that was probably the only thing
on his mind. Now from whatyou know, was said that he drove
down this on the side of theroad of Chevybill Road trying to get into
(12:03):
a Valhalla and the cop asked himto stop, and he just kept going.
So, you know, and againJerry right, they do drive automobiles
that tell him that, you know, this is a PGA guy, this
is a player. So let's justwait. Okay, okay, let me
(12:24):
tell you what I do know,George, let me add something, George
for a come back to you.At seven eighteen, This is Eve Sports
Radio. We're talking about the incidentoutside of Ihillo Country Club, Louisville,
Kentucky at the one hundred and sixthplane of the PGA Championship. I just
got this. There was an accidentyesterday of involving one of the PGA shuttle
buses and an suv outside the club. They had to tow both vehicles from
(12:48):
the scene. Now this coach,so there was one yesterday, George,
And I'm on those shuttle buses.I'd been on those shuttle buses for four
days in and out. Now there'sa different this morning. There's a fatality.
I don't know what has happened withthat yet. The information's not out
on that yet. And we haven'tarrest of the number one player in the
world, Scottie Shuffler. It isamazing. We have Xander Shoffley tye PGA
(13:13):
record for our sixty two and we'vebeen on guys almost thirteen fourteen minutes and
have not mentioned one thing happened duringthe tournament. Boy, what do you
think, George? Well, firstwell, first of all, Jerry,
you know, I understand why wehaven't talked about the tournament because that takes
(13:37):
more prestige and you know, someonelosing their life like that, you know,
that's one of the reasons we're nottalking about the tournament. But you
know, it tells me that alot of people haven't been problem in the
protocol of the police because no waythat advance should have been in the way
of the bus. And you know, they've got those roles stretched out where
you don't post to cross that, and a lot of people are trying to
do what they don't supposed to do. And I don't know what happened with
(14:01):
the bus this morning, but youknow, you was on the bus Jair.
They had designated lines and those driverswere following what they did and for
you to be an ordinary car andto be over what they were, you
know, the bus hritter probably didn'texpect this guy and he probably made a
move that you know, wasn't expectedout now that he belonged should have been
there. So you know, alot of times, yeah, we try
(14:22):
to get away with things and sowe can get by, you know,
and go fast and get to wherewe want to without doing the right things,
and things happen like that. Soyou know, I don't think that
you can really judge the bus serviceby people who were not doing the right
thing. I mean, I don'tknow what that's the right thing to say
or not, but I don't gountil that rest of it comes out.
We got to say, is itthe protocol that they used to get the
(14:45):
people in and out or whether thepeople on the outside doing things that they
weren't supposed to do. So youknow, until that comes out, we're
gonna have to wait and find out. Yeah, no, great point,
George. Let me tell you, guys, when I picked up my Meteor
credentials and they stated exactly how thingswere supposed to be handled. And they
made a statement to the public overand over. No drop offs to where
(15:09):
people pull up and people just jumpout of their car. They were going
to arrest you, none of thesethings. There's only one way into val
Hollow Country Club, Shelbyville Road, guys, only one, not two.
There's not a way out, There'sonly one. And they told people that
they were not going to tolerate anyof things to these Coach there were drop
off points just like Derby to whereyou could go park your car, get
(15:30):
on a nice bus. We're notabout school buses. We're talking about nice
busses. Coach Beard right into Valhallow, get off, get to whatever hole
you wanted to get to, andenjoy the game. Now, there were
people upset about how they blocked offShelbyville Road. The Cardinal Club is in
Shelbyville, Kentucky, straight up ShelbyvilleRoad. And I was coming down on
Thursday. My son and I played. Thursday, I was getting golf at
(15:54):
a Thornton's coach Beard, George Jorndoverright where it is that Thornton's is right
before Lake Forest neighborhood, right beforeLake Forest. Going out, I stopped
there. I'm speaking to a younglady. She says, boy, I'm
gonna have to get around this traffic. I'm gonna hate this week. I
just told her. I said, stay to the expressway, just do not
come down Shelbyville Road. Okay,George. But there were frustrations coach of
(16:17):
Beard the Thursday before the tournament, because they knew what the tournament brought.
But I told people on Monday, yes, there's an inconvenience, but there's
so much money and revenue brought. Not talking about what Scottie Scheffler did,
Guys, I'm not making excuses likeGeorge said. I'm talking about what this
tournament does for our businesses at ourcommunities. We need these events. Louisville,
(16:38):
we gave way too many events goahead. George. Yeah, I
used to live I used to liveon Queen Street, and anybody knows Churchill
down know what Queen Street is.I could walk from my house straight into
the back of Churchill Down. Notonly Jay did. Whenever Churchill Down had
a meets, I couldn't come hometo the NEETs were over. And you
(17:02):
can imagine what it looked like livingin the back where you could walk into
church of that now getting a carjust walk on on my feet inside the
building. You can imagine what itlooked like in my neighborhood on Derby Day
a Derby week, right, youknow what I mean. I literally couldn't
basically on the week of Derby. You know, you park your car and
(17:22):
get somebody gonna get your right becausethere's no way you can. You can't
leave. If you leave, youhave no where to park, and a
lot of people are parking. Saythat for the rest of the week,
you know what I mean. Soyou know, to have these big events
there, if you want to havethem, you have to make sacrifices.
That is what I'm trying to say. If you can't have these big events
and don't make some sacrifices, thewhole city got your part take it's not
gonna work. Yes, it's George. That's a great example because in those
(17:47):
days, George, people will letthem allow them to park in their yards.
Oh man, we live park everywhere, Jerry, Yes, sir,
we live in park everywhere there. That's why I said you didn't leave your
car. You parked your car andthat was there. You know what I
means with a rack, I saidyou didn't. You wasn't getting back home,
Coach Beard. Do you remember thegarbage cans putting people in front of
people's houses saying, don't park, this is my park. Remember those chairs
(18:11):
whatever you could put in front ofyour house if you wanted to get a
space back to your and sometimes thatdid not work either. You come home
and now you are your chairs inyour front yard. So, guys,
yesterday May the sixteenth, we're atsix twenty four. Excuse me, seven
twenty four. I'm Central time. We're going to get to break. When
I come back, I'm going toread to you. Yesterday May sixteenth,
(18:34):
twenty twenty four to eight twenty eight, WLKY came out with this about the
accident, the incident I told youall about with the suv and one of
the shows. I'll read you allthat and we'll continue again. You can
listen to it. ESPN is cutaway from Valhallo. It is not the
prime story but it's all over nationalnews. It's the sports radio phone Nubers
(18:56):
five zero two five seven one seventynine hundred. We'll talk to you in
this second. Welcome back to EvesSports Radio seven twenty eight in Louisvio six
twenty eight in Chicago. I don'tknow where George is. It could be
anytime, Coach Beard's East Coast time. George. We have no idea where
George, George, where do youreally live? Where do you live?
George tell us I need to know. You need not know where I live.
(19:21):
Jer I know where you live. That's all it matters that, George.
That means leave my mailbox alone.George. Please, you need a
new one. Jerry, you needa new one. So guys, no
laughing matter, just having a littlefun. But let's get back to the
serious business that we have. Weknow that there's been a fatality this morning
(19:45):
somewhere in the proximity of our HolloCountry Club. We know that second step
that we know is that Scottie Scheffler, the number one golfer in the world,
was detained by police officers, arrested, put in the back a dodge
and driven away. That second thingthat we do know. I've seen that
with my own with my line eyes. I'm watching it. I know what
(20:06):
happened. You can't tell me thatdidn't happen. It did. I want
to read you. I have aperson sent me something. Thank you for
the information. Tournament organizers aren't entirelyto blame for the transportation bottleneck. However,
at seven to fifteen am on Thursdaymorning, near the fifteen hundred block
of Shelbyville Road, right outside ofValhallo, a tournament shuttle was reportedly involved
(20:27):
in an accident with an SGUV,snarling traffic and further delaying transportation for the
first year's second Major. They're talkingabout second major tournament. Now, let
me read this to you. God, I hate when my phone update you
al I'm sorry, y'all just haveto bear with me. My phone's not
worth a dime and if I touchit, it jumps. I want to
read you on something else. I'llhave it up in a second. This
(20:52):
is also from LKY. Where areyou coming on? Oh guys? Well,
else you would know that I ammy phone updated. I wanted to
reach on something but it's gone now, But anyway I will find it.
So gentlemen, we know that Scottyhas been detained, arrested and taken away
(21:15):
from the scene, and we're waitingright now. There's supposed to be a
press conference, Coach Beer and Ido not see ESPN going to it at
seven thirty. They said they weregoing to give us some information. Between
you and I and George, Ibelieve that they're going to back up this
press conference. Coach. I don'tthink they're ready to announce anything. I
would be surprised if it goes offat seven thirty. But I am waiting
(21:37):
just like everyone else, to seeif the PGA gives us any information on
what is transpired. Oh, here'sI have a question for you. Go
ahead, George, go ahead. You know you were talking about how Valla
is haunted it. Well, whatdo you think how they handed our way
up until this point you've been outthere, how do you like? Okay,
(21:57):
George, I was surprised, seeand I'm going to post what was
sent to me. They showed lines, they said like a half mile long
for spectators, not media, toget on buses to get into Valhallo.
But as for the media, George, I'm not going to tell people where
the location is, but it wasseamless. We drove our cars to a
(22:18):
parking lot. We parked there, like I told everyone, Ken mcpete and
I met there. In less thanfifteen minutes. We got on the bus.
We drove straight in four days ina row, even yesterday, George
Seamless. Now, I was onthe five thirty bus, George, so
I can't say how it happened. At eight thirty or nine thirty or ten
thirty. I was on the firstbus there. So, George, I
(22:41):
think I missed a lot of it, So I want to be fair to
the public. I know I probablymissed it, but leaving George seamless.
So if you would have asked me, I would have told you it was
having to perfectly. If you ask, well, I think if you know
you go to the Derby. Imean, if you expect a hundred thousand
people and you think that you're gonnabe able to get on the bus in
(23:02):
a fifteen minutes, you got aproblem. I mean, George, we
are I will just to get offthe campus of Churchill Downs to start to
walk to Maca last week, youknow what I mean. I mean,
you're gonna have to win people inKentucky if they're gonna want to have big
events, figuring understand that two hundthousand people, it takes a while to
move them. It's not like youdo this in fifteen minutes and you back
home exactly. Coach Beard agre George, I'm one hundred percent, but I
(23:26):
do want to be fair with people. I was on that five thirty bus
all four days. I was oneof the first people there when Blackburn,
myself, Ken, Nick Pete,we're one of the one of the first
people there. We even beat someof the organizers. But it was seamless,
George. It worked perfectly, justlike they said with the I mean,
(23:48):
I'm an early bird, but itwas early for me. I'm not
gonna kid you, am. Iwas tired, so Coach Beer asked for
okay, we do have Michael Collinsis on right now. I do want
to just give us about thirty seconds. I want to listen to this silently.
We're in twenty minute delay, butthey have told us that played will
begin again eight thirty five am.Now. When I got down there too
(24:11):
the grounds, the first thing Idid was go over by the putty green
and I saw a player and acaddy putty, and I said, hey,
tell me about the troubles that youhad getting into the course. And
he said, we got here aboutfive forty five. Myself and my caddy
were in the car together and wedid the exact same move that Scottie Scheffler
attempted to do, and that wasgo around traffic and turn into the golf
(24:32):
course. And when the security orpolice officer saw the car and the markings
on I told you on yes, just waved us through with no issues whatsoever,
have to roll our windows down oranything. Also was on the phone
with the Okay, guys, everyoneknows you all may have heard, but
they insinuated the markings on the carcoaching George, Guys, these cars,
(24:56):
there's no question. When you seethese cars, you know that official party
of the PGA. You know that. There's no question. So Michael Collins
is speaking right now saying that hespoke to some people. They said they
were there at five thirty, justlike most of the golfers get their early
staffer in academ When the police officerssaw them, when they saw them change
(25:18):
lanes and they waved them into thegolf course. So I don't know what
happened with Scotti Scheffler. We knowit's not that he was drunk or partying,
none of those. He was comingto go to work. Guys.
He's trying to win a major. So there was a miscommunity communication that happened
for some reason. I don't knowwhat. But yes, the tournament will
start at eight thirty five. PGAwill return, so that's about o an
(25:41):
hour and fifteen minute delay. Idon't know that means that. I think
Scotty was supposed to have gone offin the mid eight between eight twenty and
eight thirty five with a seven tofifteen start time, So now that means
his life more ninety five. Jerry, Jerry Jery. Well, I just
want to let people know if hegets out of coach, he would be
(26:04):
playing around nine forty five. Isall I'm trying to say. Go ahead.
I'm not saying anything. I'm justtelling you, I, George,
don't you put this on me.I didn't do it. I'm I started.
I got another question to pay youthough, Jerry. Okay, you
know, even even if I don'tknow if they're going to a concerrate them
(26:26):
much, I don't think they're gonnado. But would he be able to
play today. Would he be ableto get go back to get his game
plan together? Play him to beable to play today, even if he
did not have to go to jail. I would, I would, guys.
My opinion is I think that yourgolf, you time your while to
get ready. If it was nota major, George, he would withdraw
from the tournament. If it wasnot a major, I guarantee you he
(26:48):
would withdraw. But it being amajor, there are only four of them,
George, it is important he's playinggreat. I don't think I see
him backing away. Coach Beard.Great question, George. Coach Beer,
you've won world championship. You're alwayson a team bus, so you wouldn't
have this incident. But see, golfers are individuals. They don't come in
together and leave together. They comeat different times. So coach Beer Scotty,
(27:14):
like George says, has his routine. All of them have a routine.
They come in, they're ready togo to work, they're ready to
do what they do, and thishappens. Do you think he would against
coach step away from the tournament.Yeah, it all depends upon It all
depends upon what type of situation hewent through with the police and how it
(27:40):
was treated in the whole nine yards. Okay, so you know, you
can say, my bad, misunderstoodyou as I was driving by the cops,
can say my bad. You knowwe made a mistake. I didn't
know that. You know, youwere a player, and you kind of
can move on with it. Butsimply because he just had a new born
(28:03):
baby, he might decide, letme go back to my you know,
my baby and wife. Okay,I don't need this number one, amazing
number one to see that. No, no, not, I understand it's
amazing, But he's number one inthe world. I mean what what what
is the most what's the most importantthing to him? His frame of mind
(28:25):
are being number one in the world. Well, coach, all right,
well George, I mean, coachBeer, let me put it in a
different way to you. Let meput it a different way to you.
Coach Beer. It's game four.I'm not saying seven, but it's game
four. Coach. It's two toone in your down, got me.
That's what this is, Coach Beer. This isn't just a regular tournament.
(28:47):
This is a major for a worldchampion. It's the same. So you
just said I'm walking away on gamefour. If I could get out,
I play. It's an individual it'san end of visual It's an individual sport,
not a team sport. Okay,no coach, team Swartman lift you.
(29:08):
Individual means I gotta get it done. Just look, yeah, I
understand. But he already he's numberone in the world. Okay, he's
number one in the world. Okay. Now the thing the thing is he
is probably concerned with is his mentalframe of mind going forward. And if
(29:32):
he's you know, a little tickedoff about this incident all the way across
the board, he can he canhe can withdraw George, what do you
think? Well, I agree withthe mental aspect of how he wants to
oppose the game. I do thinkthat's got to be important because if he's
not prepared to play this game there, that don't need him to go back
(29:52):
out there, you know, doctordefinitely game and it's an individual sport,
and how you feel mentally it tellsyou a lot. If I'm not prepared
to play, I wouldn't go backout there and embarrass myself and humiliate myself
to just cause it's a major.Because he's got three more I wouldn't do
that. Yeah, I'm like, butsch that I would have to be mainly
prepared to play, not doing yourroutine. And we all know being Bob
(30:15):
plays routine means everything to us,it means everything. Routine is very important.
So Coach Bible, now that weknow that there's been a few golfers
that did exactly what Scottie Scheffler didand was waved into Valhalla, they just
I'm so glad that Michael Collins didsay the cars. I want people to
(30:37):
understand they knew when they saw thosecars. That's sufficient. There's like seventy
of them. They're all Alexis.I want people to understand. I know
it's dark and early, but theycan still see the side markets. Everybody
can. It's just it's why theydo that. Each player gets one and
they're numbered guys. I want youto know now, and they have emblems
(30:57):
and numbered So ah man, allI always say is this, Coach Bier.
I'll say one thing, Jared,I'll say one thing. In communicating
some mat when you have a commandingofficer over you and he tells you,
I don't want anybody to come through, and I mean nobody, you know,
Jered. That's sometimes as a bigpresence, Anderling, you know what
(31:19):
I mean. So we don't knowwhat the direct orders were given to that
guy. He may have been tolddon't let anyone through here at all,
and I don't care who they are. We do not mean the big please
situation. I agree, here's thedeal, Coach Beer, and I'm not
throwing the police officer into the bus. Guys, I'm not. Here's what
we need. What we're talking about. No, you're not, Georgie and
(31:40):
Coach Ber. But what I'm talkingabout is this. He's been detained,
he's been handcocked, he's been putin the back of a dodge, he's
been driven off. Okay, that'shappened. Now after that we sure.
I'm sure the PGA is involved, the police narration is involved. Hold up
second, George, I know everybodynow, the dignitary I'm talking about.
(32:00):
I know Mayor Fisher knows, andI know the PGA knows. I know
the junior Bridgemans who organized this tournamentknow. So now it's not in the
Underling's hands. We know that thedecision may come what happened. So I'm
talking about him getting out being ableto play So guys, now that we
know it's not on the police officerthat arrested him, it's not it's above.
(32:21):
Well, now it's been that's happened. It's over. Now that that's
happened. We know Mayor Fisher knows, the whole world knows, we know
everybody in the city that can makea decision knows. Does he get out
in time to tell him and toplay? That's a question, yeah,
coach, Well again Jerry, thatis he able to go get into his
routine. But this is a questionI wanted to give you Jay, the
guy that covered this for ESPN,he made a statement when the police arrested
(32:45):
him and put him in the car. The police answered, do you know
who this is? The police didnot have an idea of who he was
arrested at the time, because he'sdefinitely answered the guy, do you know
who this guy is that we arearresting? So you know, but I
do think that to mind them,he's already asked, yeah, you can
forget that exactly. That's where I'mtelling Coach Beard, so yes, and
(33:07):
he could coach, what do youthink? What do you think, coach?
He get his routine down. Butnow we all know he got in
jail by now, okay, becausethe PGA officials are involved in of course,
the people you know, the mayor, everybody else, the police chief,
everybody else is he wasn't involved inthe accident. We know that,
(33:29):
Okay. It all depends upon hisframe of mind or whether or not he
wants to continue to play Jerry. You have to wait and see what he
decides he wants to do, allright, I mean, I don't you
know. You have to wait andsee. That's all gud. Let's get
the break. We got to getthe breaks. We got to get the
break on that when we come back, because it's seven forty three of them.
(33:51):
This is on my second break,Eastwet's Radio. I got George Williams,
I got mister intellectual coach Beard. We had a lot to talk about
and it wasn't this, but gotit's taken over the show. We'll be
back in a minute. Welcome backto U Sports Radio six point fifty.
I had to run two breaks.Excuse me for that. I've got the
best sponsors, but I had toget them in. I've got George Williams
(34:12):
and I've got Alfred Butchbeard on theline. With me. I'm going to
take a caller. I'm going toput George on hold. Before I bring
the caller, I want to readfour paragraphs. Run number one. Golfer
Scottie Scheffler was detained by the LouisvilleMetro Police Department on Friday morning while trying
to drive around the entrance of ourHollow Country Club golf Course, the site
of this week's PGA Championship. Thetraffic outside the golf course had been stopped
(34:34):
after a man was struck and killedby a shuttle bus around five am Eastern
time. According to the ESPN reporterJeff Darlington, who witnessed the incident,
Scheffler was trying to drive around thecrash scene on a median A police officer
instructed Scheffler to stop, but hecontinued to drive about ten to twenty yards
toward the entrance. At one point, an officer attached himself to the side
(34:57):
of Scheffler's car. Scheffler stopped hiscar as he turned into the entrance about
Hollow Golf Course about after about twentyto thirty second. Scheffler rolled down his
window to talk to the officer. The officer grabbed Scheffler's arm to pull him
out of the vehicle. According toDarlington, the officer reached inside the vehicle
to open the door, and whenScheffler was pulled out, he was pushed
against the car and placed in handcuffs. Darlington was standing at the entrance while
(35:22):
Scheffler was detained. Darlington said Schefflerturned to him and asked, can you
help. According to Darlington, theofficer instructed him to back away. You
need to get out of the way. The officer told Darlington, there's nothing
you can do. Scottie Scheffer's goingto jail. Let's bring my first coloran
Ron. Welcome to the sports radio. Good morning, Jerry. You can't
(35:45):
make this stuff up. But whatI understand that the pg some of the
PGA officials came to the front gateafter they detained Scottie Sheffer. But according
to what I was told, whatI heard that Pleach weren't having none of
it. They basically told them there'snothing they can do. So I know
(36:08):
y'all were talking about PGA officials andall that, and I just want to
say the things yesterday as far asthe media, you were aware how well
that went, but not so forthe for the regular fans. They had
long lines at the fairgrounds, andthen after that accident they occurred yesterday,
(36:29):
there was long delays and traffic andgetting in and it just, I don't
know, it just hasn't been asmooth thing at all up to now.
But hopefully it'll get better. Hopefully, Well if I've got three more days.
Thank you're right, coach Beer George. I just read what's on ESPN.
(36:50):
It's now been posted. Let mefeel you all in on some things.
The police all last week told peopleno walking at the shuttles, you
know, jumping out of your carin front of our hollow saying it's only
going to be twenty seconds. Youwould be arrested. They made these statements.
Now, there was a person thatwas hit five am fatality. We
(37:12):
hate that for he and his family. Don't know who that person is that
was I'm sure trying to have somethingto do with this event, which I
the police implored the community to don'tdo it that way, to go to
the bus sites, get on thebus, let them shuttle you in.
So that's what we have at thistime, guys, and I guess that's
(37:36):
just where it's going to stand untilwe find out more. I just hate
that a person had to lose itslife. And I'm sure after that people
will know that they're not going toallow anyone to walk in park, up
the street, in people's yards. They're not going to allow any of these
things. I just don't know.It's a very difficult situation. That's all
very difficult, but it puts Louisvillea very negative light. Coach when you're
(38:00):
trying to attract conventions and everyone,Yes, I am talking about money,
and George gets after me sometimes andGeorge is right sometimes. But when we
can bring these events, it bringsa lot of money to our economy that
helps everyone, the rich and thepoor. That's what I try to implore.
But Kashmir, what do you thinkWe're almost done? You got about
(38:21):
thirty seconds, Georgia, I haveabout thirty seconds and we'll be out of
here. Well, Jerry, again, we were we're speculating on everything.
We're listening to ESPN and saying wewait until there's going to be a press
conference, and there will be apress conference before they start the tournament,
and then we'll have more clarity ofwhat you know of what happened today.
(38:45):
That's all that's all you can do. That's all you can do. It's
all you can do. I hatethat somebody had to lose their life to
where they'll get it straight. Goahead, George, I'm sorry, Go
ahead, George. Well, Ijust think this is going pains with any
big organization or any kind of eventlike this, Jerry, you got you're
gonna have some bumbles, You're gonnamake the mistakes. This is just very
unfortunate that they had caused someone tolose their life, Jed. But they're
(39:07):
are growing pain to put on anybig event like this, and this is
just part of doing a big event. Jay. You got to figure out
where your mistakes are. And youknow, you hate to see that someone
lost their life, but you knowyou're gonna have some flowers and they're gonna
have to get better. You know, you didn't just start doing Churchill downs
overnight. I mean the Derby overnightgot tru bro That's right, so true.
(39:28):
Well, guys, here's what we'vegot Monday, Coach Beer. You
gotta get back up again. Weallowed to talk about nlowouts. You're getting
up forty five point blow out,George. If we have to go to
New Jersey, George, you andI and whip him forty five point blowouts.
One thing we've got Caitlin Clark yesterday, I want to continue to speak
about that. She's going through thegrowing pains. I've got no problem with
(39:52):
her growing pains. I just wanther to be more humble with this.
She's not the best player in thatleague and she got to grow with it.
That's all. But we're gonna talkabout her also and all the other
things. The pre draft camp, which I'm doing again today, we're gonna
do. Guys, you have awonderful day. God be with everyone going
out to the hollow best Safe ESports Radio. I love you all.
(40:12):
Great job, George, great jobCoach Bear Coat you all on Monday.
Bye bye,
