Speaker 2 (00:29):
All right, good morning, ladies, gentlemen, boys and girls, and
welcome to a live edition on the number, another one
of our casts our summer pop up tours. And today
we are in Lebanon, Kentucky at Marion County. It's here
it for Marion County. Ryan Lemon, Drew Franklin, Shannon Dude,
and Billy r. Sports all here today in Lebanon County.
Will tell you all about Marion County in Lebanon, will
(00:51):
tell you about that just a second. But first we've
got to tell you that every Kentucky sports radio episode
is sponsored by the TJ. Smith Office called TJ will
make them pay. You'll make them pay before the day's over.
I have our Don Franklin call the Day, whatever our
Kentucky branded tweeted the day, and we'll hand out our
Whiskey Thief song of the Day and the Avision Glass
text machine which I left in Lexington, but you can
still text it if you want to. Five O two
seven three five three six eight. Oh you're on fire today.
(01:14):
We're a little rattled. Well, well you For some reason,
I keep all my show notes in my phone, like
stuff we're going to talk about on the show. Nothing
wrong with Yeah, matt you know, has his little binder,
his notebook that he writes the show topics. I've been
putting them in my phone. Why show up here in
Lebanon and I'm back there talking to Patrick and Maddie
(01:35):
and getting ready for the show, pulling my phone out.
Look at the notes and they're all in German, all
my notes. Somehow I got translated.
Speaker 3 (01:43):
To German only you you're a National Treasurer, you really are.
This stuff only happens to Ryan Lemon. So how's your German?
Speaker 2 (01:50):
It's not good?
Speaker 3 (01:52):
So do you know what we're going to talk about
on the show today?
Speaker 2 (01:54):
No, Mattie, our sales rep spent thirty minutes so back
there trying to figure out how to get it translated
back to English. Nobody knows. I mean, we're calling people.
Speaker 4 (02:03):
Mario was on there. It was a group effort, and
you're all your show prep is now in Germany.
Speaker 3 (02:08):
Ryan, Luckily, there's so many games going on you don't
need them. Sure, yeah, all right going on in the
sports world.
Speaker 5 (02:14):
Any German speakers in Lebanon, we made your help. If
you could come to Main Street and translate Ryan's notes
for us, can.
Speaker 3 (02:19):
You not just copy and paste that into Google and
go German to English?
Speaker 2 (02:23):
Go? Maybe you know you're you're talking to an old
guy here that has trouble bit copying and pasting. So
we'll we'll, we'll work on it.
Speaker 4 (02:30):
But the good.
Speaker 2 (02:31):
Thing is most of my notes survived the translation. Most
of my notes are still in there. But then there's
some other words in there that I can't pronounce, and
I have no idea what them.
Speaker 3 (02:39):
This only happens on Android, and.
Speaker 4 (02:40):
And yeah, let's just recap. Ryan's the guy that has
two phones. One of them is at home and the
other one is in German.
Speaker 2 (02:49):
Story of my life.
Speaker 4 (02:50):
I like the idea of you going off script for
a show, though, I'm really looking forward. Well, let's do
it freestyle, let's do it.
Speaker 2 (02:55):
We're here in Marion County, downtown Lebanon by the Historic Courthouse. Uh,
we're here. Just you know, when I think of Marion County,
I think of three things. I think of Makers Mark Boom,
We've got Makers Mark. We've got customized KSR Makers Mark
bottles for you too?
Speaker 6 (03:11):
Is that?
Speaker 7 (03:11):
So?
Speaker 2 (03:11):
Thank you?
Speaker 4 (03:11):
Patrick?
Speaker 2 (03:12):
And Johnny Rocker back there?
Speaker 4 (03:15):
How cool is that?
Speaker 2 (03:15):
Your name is Johnny Rocker. That's a cool name, I know.
Speaker 4 (03:18):
And you show up handing people bottles of Makers. I mean,
is it the coolest person in.
Speaker 2 (03:22):
Even Mama Rocker and Daddy Rocker are here today, so
he Okay. So I think of Makers Mark, you think
of Johnny Rocker. I think of Johnny Rocker. I also
think of Ham Days.
Speaker 4 (03:31):
Yeah, of course.
Speaker 2 (03:32):
We've had our show at ham Days last year, and
guess what, boys, we're coming back this year. All right,
I love ham coming back to ham Days into September.
And the third thing I think about I think of
Marion County is Anthony michayla Ebbs. Guess who's gonna be on.
Speaker 4 (03:47):
The show today. I'm gonna go Anthony, McKayla Anthony and.
Speaker 3 (03:50):
Mikayla Ebbs at eleven o'clock, You're going to join us.
Will they be speaking German when they come? No?
Speaker 2 (03:56):
Probably not. So that's what I think about Lebanon. It's
a great history in the city of Lebanon, if you
got some time, your research a lot, because back in
the fifties and the sixties and the seventies, Lebanon, Kentucky
was like the hotspot for the country's best black musical
artists like I may miss one, but like Tina Turner,
(04:16):
James Brown, uh, who's sang Johnny be Good, Chuck Berry,
A lot of these They came through Lebanon with the
I think the was it one called Club Cherry and
the other one was the Golden Horseshoe. Are those the
two clubs that used to be here that they focus
with they guy it?
Speaker 4 (04:34):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (04:34):
Could you imagine James Brown just playing right down the
street on Main Street?
Speaker 2 (04:38):
I mean, well, somehow Lebanon got Alice Blue Gown down here.
Speaker 8 (04:44):
True.
Speaker 3 (04:44):
Yeah, we actually started the summer concert series that's actually
wrapping up with J. D.
Speaker 2 (04:48):
Shelburn next Friday night. And guess who's gonna be on
the show at eleven thirty, Baby shelb all ties together.
Speaker 4 (04:55):
Yeah, you're five a loaded show.
Speaker 2 (04:57):
So yeah. The summer concert series Alice Blue Ground kicked
it off in May. Uh, they've had the country music
artists here in July and J D. Sheldmann's gonna finish
it up a one week from tomorrow here in Levenon.
So good times had by all here in Marion County
certainly is.
Speaker 4 (05:11):
And I like anytime we're in a little downtown. I
mean we were right in the middle of downtown. I'm
looking at the deal this people's bank here. You know,
we do so many shows at the bar and studio.
We like to get out, but there's something about these
small downtown's all they getting in being a part of
probably have lunch somewhere around here afterwards. I'm very excited
to be.
Speaker 3 (05:26):
We've got a good crowd here, but I feel like
they're kind of scared of us. Like there's the first
three rows are kind of empty, and everybody's filled in
all the seats back there. You could come up here,
like we don't have the social distance. If you want to,
you can come on up here and join it.
Speaker 4 (05:36):
Now we're not mat would have already yelled everyone to
set up.
Speaker 2 (05:39):
Yeah, well we have to before we start. We have
to talk about what happened yesterday on this show, because
yesterday during the law Famelia meet and greet Drew. It
may have been. It may have been one of the
funnest shows I've ever been a part of. What did
you feel Like?
Speaker 4 (05:52):
Oh it's in my mount rushmore of KSR episodes. I
wanted that to last another two hours, four hours, six hours,
eight hours.
Speaker 2 (05:59):
Could have easily done an eight hour show with those
guys there yesterday.
Speaker 4 (06:02):
Really we had two players at a time. That was
hard enough in itself, because you want to dial in
and ask questions to one. You're going back and forth.
But there are a few of them, like Willie cally Stein.
We were up against a hard break. We could have
done two hours with him alone.
Speaker 2 (06:14):
That's the surface of the Bahama story.
Speaker 4 (06:16):
Yeah, he agreed to it, and then the hard break
comes in. I wanted to talk through it, but having
the Harrison Twins at the same time, I mean talking
about how they haven't played together since they were at UK.
I had a list of questions for all the guys,
and I got to about two of them, because it
was so rapid fire and really beat in that chair
as they're coming out. It was kind of overwhelming, but
kind of like living in a UK basketball dream too.
That was a day I'm gonna remember for a long time.
(06:37):
That was so much fun.
Speaker 2 (06:38):
Sh sh. I thought some of your best work.
Speaker 3 (06:39):
Yet, oh you know, it was a great, great work.
I just kind of let you guys do your thing.
You were out there. I would have liked to have
asked a couple of questions, but I wasn't there with them,
so that's a little awkward. But I thought that Orton
was great. Orton was the intensity in his voice when
he talks about playing at Kentucky. You can just feel that,
and I think it's cool that he's like the one
guy that sort of stuck around Lexington and is helping
out with the youth and the next generation of players.
Speaker 4 (07:01):
That did a lot for Daniel Ordon's brand. I can
tell you, ks board, there were people saying, you know,
I just didn't always wasn't always one of my favorites.
There was a few rough patches with him, and they're like,
we love him now and want to hear more of
him on the airwaves. And want him around the program,
and really glad he's in Lexington doing so much for
youth sports. We were asking him questions about playing with
Wall and cousins and he's like, you know, I'm trying
to focus on the next generation, yeah, and giving them opportunities.
(07:22):
So Daniel Orton might have been the surprise MVP of
all those interviews yesterday.
Speaker 3 (07:27):
And then one other thing I wanted to point out
when you asked about the Harrison Twins feeling underappreciated, I
thought it was good to hear that they said we
don't feel that way.
Speaker 2 (07:35):
I agree.
Speaker 3 (07:36):
I think that we thought they felt that way, and
it's good to hear from them that they don't feel
underappreciated for their time here.
Speaker 5 (07:41):
He kil Louville has been able to have this for
the last couple of years now with the TVT Tournament
and having these alumni come back and play. So I'm
glad that it's happening in Lexington. Maybe we can do
it for the many years to come. And how was
the crowd. I wasn't there out there?
Speaker 2 (07:52):
It was We had a great crowd. They were all
getting their pictures taken with the guys. They were very
the guys were very open with getting the autograss and
getting pictures taken. You could just kind of feel the energy.
It felt like almost like a pregame show the energy.
And then kas Bar yesterday it did it.
Speaker 4 (08:05):
I mean, I was already excited about Friday, but I'm
even more excited now after seeing them. I was really
impressed to hear Not that I didn't think they'd take
the TVT seriously, but Nate Cesteina and Kellen Grady are
acting like they're about to go play in the final four.
We have John Hood sitting at a table at Chaos
Bar watching film of the three H five ballers. This
isn't some little reunion when we're gonna get together at
high five and smile. These guys are out to play
(08:27):
some serious basketball, and I'm looking forward to seeing how
that product turns out.
Speaker 3 (08:30):
Together seeing all those guys in person, just sizing them up.
Who looks to be like in the best in game shape?
I mean obviously Nate Sustina.
Speaker 6 (08:38):
Yeah, he was the leader. I think who else? I
think I was looking good. They're all still playing as
the thing. Some of them are overseas. Eric Blitsoe, it's
been two years since he was with the Clippers, but
he was with the Shanghai Sharks just dominating. And you
think oversea, that's still a professional basketball Willie over in Italy,
like he said with James Young, some practice clips came
out last night of them.
Speaker 4 (09:00):
Practicing, yes, practicing, practicing with the current team, and Uh,
Andrew Harrison was kind of putting our guard in ISO
and as expected. I mean, Travis Perry, he's brand new,
gonna have a hard time guarding Andrew Harrison. But those
pros looked like they were putting it on the college
guys a little bit.
Speaker 7 (09:14):
Now.
Speaker 2 (09:15):
We had great feedback from listeners, uh and people at
the restaurant, but I gotta say there was there was
one I'm gonna ask you guys this, I want you
to be honest. There was one thing that everybody seemed
to agree on that when we asked the TBT players
about how did what was your big takeaway? How did
the guys look like mark post first team energy?
Speaker 4 (09:34):
And that was it?
Speaker 2 (09:35):
Yeah, you know, I think one guy said, well they
got some big guys, they weren't really glowing. I think
in their remarks, what how did you take that?
Speaker 4 (09:42):
I didn't take take that a lot. They've only seen
them like twice. I mean they they probably don't even
know their names, all of them, to be honest, So
I didn't expect them to just break down, oh you know,
oh take it, oh way, he's gonna be great on
a great finder. I mean, they as cool as was
to see them together. I don't think they're out there
to get scouting reports. They're out there working on their
own game. And it only had a few interactions with them,
so I didn't expect them to go in depth with
(10:02):
any of them really, but the energy was good to hear.
Speaker 3 (10:05):
Yeah, that was the takeaway, just how energetic the team is.
I think that is Mark Pope's personality kind of rubbing
off on the team early and their time together. But
I don't know really what I expected them to say.
I mean, again, as you just said, we're just you know,
He's pieced this team together so quickly. I think they
got to sort of, you know, grow as a team,
and I think they're gonna be a good team once
(10:26):
we get to the season. But right now, I think
it's too early to really have any sort of big
takeaway from how the team well.
Speaker 5 (10:31):
And here's an angle for that. I mean, for fifteen years,
Cali Perry has just a massed talent, no matter if
it was good for the team or not position wise.
Now it's gonna be different going into practicing. Guys that
are gonna fit a scheme and that are gonna have
to work together a little bit, older juniors and seniors,
transfer portal players. It's not just about the most talented
freshmen that could have success in the NBA. So I'm
(10:52):
sure practices probably look a lot different at the beginning.
Speaker 2 (10:55):
Now, we have a lot of fun here today, and
we got some kind of a softball team here to
talk about here in a little bit. Anthony McKayla abs
for coming in at eleven o'clock.
Speaker 4 (11:03):
J D.
Speaker 2 (11:03):
Shellwerd's gonna call at eleven thirty. But we do have
some sad news we have to talk about, so I
like to talk about it now so we can kind
of have a good time rest of to day. UK
football lost Vincent sweet Pee Burns yesterday. I mean, the
guy is way too young, and it hit me it
was very sad to hear that he had passed away.
(11:23):
Sweet Pee became a great lineman at Kentucky. Defensive lineman
ended up playing in the NFL, and he came back
to Lexington and was coaching high school ball for a while.
I helped at Brian's station when Craig Yeast was the
coach out there. Drew which just very sad to hear
that he had passed away.
Speaker 4 (11:38):
Yeah, forty three years old, way too young. Two time
captain for Rich Brooks' defense. I think Goy Morris is
the one who recruited him here, played on Jared team
Little shame boy.
Speaker 2 (11:48):
Yep.
Speaker 4 (11:49):
He still has the record for most consecutive games with
tackles for a loss and I think he's still third
all time for tackles for a loss. Anyone who watched
him that era, he was a minace at getting back
to the quarterback and in that backfield. Third round draft pick,
I mean, just a wildcat great that died way too soon.
Speaker 2 (12:04):
This week And kind of on along the same lines,
another former Kentucky defensive lineman, Dwayne Robertson, is really having
some health issues right now, so Big Blue Nation keep
him in your thoughts and prayers. And uh, that's kind
of kind of a tough whammy. Two guys, two names
we all know and talk. They were superstars, when they
were Yeah, you know, so hopefully d Rob will be
able to pull.
Speaker 4 (12:23):
Through outside of like the air raid. Those early two
thousands teams are when I really got into UK football too.
I was just kind of I was getting into high
school and learning a little more about football. Of course
Jared was a big part of the interest, but I
vividly remember a lot about Sweepee and how good he was.
So that was that was tough news to receive.
Speaker 2 (12:41):
This well, so rest in peace, sweepy Burns. All right,
we'll take our break, come back. We'll go to the
phone lines. The Clarks Puppetshop phone line is open eight
five nine two eight h two two eight seven. It's
a five nine to eight, Oh cats. It's also Whitley
County day. We're in We're in Marion County, but we've
got Whitley County. We got to do it. We got
to finish up the w's before Matt comes back.
Speaker 4 (13:00):
Break the schedule or Matt'll get back in. Woodford County
will just be the one county we never did you.
Speaker 3 (13:05):
Think Marion County wants to hear about Whitley County. They
want to hear about Marion County.
Speaker 2 (13:08):
Well, We're gonna tell him about Marion County and a
lot more we come back here on Kentucky's Sports Radio.
All right, welcome back Kentucky Sports Radio live on our
summer pop up tour in Lebanon, Kentucky. Marion County are
big thanks to the uh, the Johnny Rocker, the Elder
Law Office. Big thanks for helping us bring down here.
Speaker 7 (13:25):
Man.
Speaker 2 (13:25):
How cool is that name is Johnny Rocker? And you've
already got our Kentucky branded tweet of the day about
Johnny Rocker.
Speaker 4 (13:32):
Yeah, from Dean Glass for end of the program, he says,
Johnny Rocker is the man, one of the coolest, nicest
dudes I've ever met.
Speaker 2 (13:38):
He's a beast, how about that? So thank you, Johnny Rocker.
Lebanon Tourism also helped pay for our sponsorship down here
to come down. The summer concerts series gonna wrap up
a week from tomorrow with J. D. Shelburne. You know,
we got every town's got their own little summer festivals,
summer concerts, but it's got to be cool when you
come to a town like Lebanon and no, well we
(13:59):
saw we're here for ham Days.
Speaker 3 (14:00):
Yeah, yeah, we played that summer concert series back in May.
They had a cool set up there. So anybody that's
you know able to go out there, please check out
JD next Friday night.
Speaker 5 (14:09):
Now, last time we were here for Ham Days, they
asked us if we wanted to participate in the country
ham biscuits eating. Is there any way we can get
you to do that next time we're back here.
Speaker 2 (14:18):
Form Yeah, you're gonna let me eat a bunch of
country ham biscuits.
Speaker 3 (14:21):
I'm in, Okay, Yeah, Yeah, I'm in.
Speaker 2 (14:24):
Yeah. Holding you to that then, I don't think it's
on my election. Didn't secret for weight loss diet plan.
We can cheat one day.
Speaker 5 (14:28):
Yeah, you don't have to bring that up in your next.
Speaker 2 (14:30):
Cheat one day.
Speaker 4 (14:31):
I would do it, but I don't want to just
come in here and win take the trophy, you know.
I'd rather someone local win. I don't want to participate.
Speaker 2 (14:37):
Now. All this week has been the SEC Football Media
Days down, and they moved it to Dallas, Texas. I
guess kind of a reward for Texas joining the SEC
this year. I listened to the Paul Finebomb showing between
commercial breaks, I listened to Shannon and all they talk
about was still Alabama football. I mean, that's that's the
only topic that all they talk about. And then they talk
(14:59):
about Nick Saban. Nick Sabe is not even the coach
there anymore, and they're still talking about Nick Saban. But
you've got a funny story about what you know about
SEC football media days.
Speaker 4 (15:08):
Well, this morning, I'm having my little coffee, getting ready
to get in the car and head on over to
Marion County, you know, just slow a little morning. Got
the British Open on one TV, and on my computer,
I've got the SEC Morning Show with Peter Burns, not
really paying that much attention that it says up next
from Kentucky Sports Radio Nick Rausch, and I turned my
head real quickly to look at that screen, and he's
(15:29):
wearing one of those like tall foam blue cowboy hats
in a KSR shirt, and he's on the SEC network,
not like just the Internet, like if you're at home
with basic cable and you've got the SEC network. He
is on the channel with his cowboy hat. So naturally
I thought it might be late. I had to sit
through the break and see what Nick had to say,
and he continued to wear it on the set with
Chris Doring and Peter Burns. He did a good job,
(15:51):
even throw an LS down, but he had that KSR
logo on. I'm thinking we just keep that ridiculous with
us wherever we go. I'm not not to tell on Nick,
but I think I just seen video of him doing
karaoke a few hours before that.
Speaker 2 (16:02):
So I don't know.
Speaker 4 (16:03):
I don't know how much sleep he got, but that's
what we do at SEC Media Days, and I think
he's gonna be the MVP again. He was the MVP
last year in Nashville and tweeted the photo you should
look it out. He looks like a little bit like
Lloyd Christmas and dumb and dumber while he's breaking down
Kentucky football.
Speaker 2 (16:17):
Well, he'd better be sharp because it's Kentucky's day at
the podium today, right. Mark Stoops, Deon Walker, Marcus Cox,
and Eric Jackson are all there to meet the media
for SEC Media Days today.
Speaker 4 (16:29):
One more funny part about Nick though, As he they
go to the next segment, they bring on Randall Cobb,
who was announced this morning as a new analyst for
SEC Network. That just came out, So we'll have some
big blue on all your Saturday coverage of college football,
but Randall Cobb was also wearing a cowboy hat. Now
his was a normal, stylish one that looked really good
on him. But I feel like Nick set the tone
of the morning that everyone that follows him throughout the
(16:51):
day on SEC has to wear that hat. But later
today Stoops is the last one to go, which I've
been to this I was gonna go this year. It's
on Matt's heats. Have to be here with you all,
But like the last day, everyone's gone. So Stoops and
these players are going to be talking to a pretty
empty room except the Kentucky people are there and maybe
a few more. He is the sixteenth coach to speak
this week, so it'll be interesting to see how that goes.
Speaker 3 (17:12):
Sort Of slotting underneath the radar probably a good thing
for him. I don't know how how quickly do you
think he'll be asked about the Texas A and m
consideration for that.
Speaker 2 (17:19):
Job, considering it's in Dallas, that may be the first
or second question somebody.
Speaker 3 (17:23):
I think that's the best thing. Let's just ask it
right off the top, clear the air, and move on
from there and tell me if you agree with this.
Speaker 5 (17:28):
I don't know if we're gonna get chesty Stoops today,
maybe a cautiously optimistic after back to back seven and
six seasons. We've seen him talk about TikTok dances in
the past and be really confident about his team.
Speaker 2 (17:39):
Maybe we get different Stoops today.
Speaker 4 (17:41):
What I'm most interested in is every team has this
little photo staged area you go to. They have them
every year, but this year it's your team logo in
like a bright bar light, you know those plug in lights,
but in front of it as a mechanical bull, and
coaches have been taking pictures. They get on the mechanical
bull and take a picture under their logo. I don't
don't think there's any scenario in the world where Mark
(18:01):
Stoops gets on that mechanical bull, but others have done it.
Do you all see Mark Stoops hopping on a mechanical
bull today before he does the interview.
Speaker 3 (18:08):
No, no, not unless he's forced to do it. You know,
if it's a thing like where every other coach has
done it, then there's pressure to do it.
Speaker 4 (18:14):
Some have passed.
Speaker 3 (18:15):
Yeah, okay, then he will. He won't do it. He
may jump on it for like a picture, but he's
not going to turn the thing on and see if
he can go eight seconds.
Speaker 4 (18:21):
I think Shane Biemer just sat on it all day.
I think he was enjoying. Nobody asked him.
Speaker 2 (18:25):
He just got on and just started riding. That's the thing.
After Shane Biemer did it, I doubt Mark Stoops will
do it. But I'll tell you what I think. If
Mark Stoops got on that mechanical bull, it wouldn't throw
him off. You think he would go all eight? I
think he would?
Speaker 4 (18:37):
All right, could you go all eight?
Speaker 2 (18:39):
I have done all eight?
Speaker 7 (18:40):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (18:41):
Whoy oh? I think I told the story before you
have the floor. We were in of all places, Cancun, Mexico,
and go to one of these places, got a mechanical bull.
They brought out some young guys and they got they
brought out the old guy. The old guy. So you
do young guy fall off? Young guy fall off? Young
guy find out it's my turn, old guy. Everybody's laughing.
(19:02):
I said, I told myself, there's no way, no way
I'm falling off. Held on. I was hanging on sideways,
but it did not throw me up.
Speaker 3 (19:09):
It all goes down to the guy controlling the mechanical bull, right,
and he could go easy on you if you wanted to.
Speaker 2 (19:14):
He was going he went hard. Okay, yeah, there's no
doubt he was going hard.
Speaker 4 (19:17):
So how sideways were you before you got on the ball.
Speaker 2 (19:20):
Well, probably a little of both, even Joe, Yeah, no,
probably did. Uh five two two eight seven. That's our
Larks Puppet shot phone number if you want to call
and get on board and we'll get you on.
Speaker 7 (19:30):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (19:30):
We got Whitley counting and we're gonna move Whitley County
up to ten thirty because we got all our guests
and things coming on in the eleven o'clock hour. But
before we go to break, I do want to talk
about one more thing. Do you remember about maybe a
month ago we talked about the kid who was the
Gatorade player high school baseball player of the Year, Taylor
Penn from Woodford County, And I said, I used to
coach his brother and he would come to practice and
(19:52):
I let him work out with us and going field
ground balls. He was like five years old. He got
drafted yesterday by the Pittsburg that's twentieth round by the
Pittsburgh Pirates. So it's kind of cool to see little
Taylor Penn was not little anymore. But the Knight's got
to decide between pitching for the Hilltoppers or go play
pro for the Pirates.
Speaker 5 (20:10):
Yeah, and it's got to make you feel old when
you see guys. Matt has the same thing where he
has pictures of with little kids at remotes when KASR
started and then they come back to him as twenty
one year old in college. Now, uh, you know you
blink in that time goes pretty quickly. Well, there is
a twelve year old softball team here, Marion Kenna. We're
going to talk to them here in a little bit, Drew.
We ask them to get their best talker. We'll put
(20:32):
whoever the best talk there's got to be one of
them on the team. That's a good talkers coming in
in the dugout. You gotta get the chance going in things.
Speaker 4 (20:39):
Oh yeah, you know, they're clearly a good team. You
gotta have good leadership, good communication. I assume a lot
of them are good communicators.
Speaker 2 (20:45):
Well, we're gonna find out about that coming up in
a little bit a little bit later. Now, the TBT
teams play tomorrow night at eight o'clock.
Speaker 4 (20:52):
Eight o'clock, eight o'clock, three oh five ballers.
Speaker 2 (20:56):
I suspect they're gonna have a decent crowd there, Ropparna.
I think just the excite that they've generated this week
coming on the show yesterday, I think there'll be a
good crowd there tomorrow night.
Speaker 4 (21:04):
I got on Ticketmaster last night to buy some tickets.
I mean there's some available, but you know, the little
draft thing looks pretty filled out too. I think it's
gonna be a good turnout. I don't know how much
of the arena they're using, and pretty sure just the
lower bowl, but it's enough that you can still get in,
but enough that I think it's gonna be a good crowd.
I have already sold. I'm really looking forward to it.
Speaker 3 (21:22):
I would think that fans would come out just out
of curiosity, just to be able to see the former players.
Speaker 2 (21:27):
Billy and I were talking on the pre show.
Speaker 3 (21:28):
It seemed like the theme of the interview yesterday, unfortunately,
was a lot of these guys their time ended, unfortunately
the way they didn't want it to end, with a
heartbreaking loss in the tournament.
Speaker 2 (21:39):
But I think that we're gonna have a good crowd
out there.
Speaker 5 (21:41):
And I have not seen the elam ending in person, Ryan,
where you just go to a set score and We
talked about that on the pre show the other day.
I guess in a blowout, it won't be exciting, but
it could be that way. You're guaranteed, I guess a
buzzer beater, Well, Drew.
Speaker 2 (21:54):
Drew, you said it yesterday. There's no doubt he's gonna
get the ball. If they need a buzzer beater, who's
gonna get it? With Aaron Harrison out there?
Speaker 4 (21:59):
And if anyone takes the Aaron, then we got a
fire Tyler you list. I think that's bad coaching. You know,
I'm I said this yesterday. I'm watching and it was
even before we talked to them. I'm watching Natesstina and
Kellen Grady. They've almost had seventy points combined in the
charity game last weekend. In the six minute practice clips
we got yesterday a lot of Natesstina scoring. As Shannon said,
(22:19):
those two guys are the hungriest. Natesanstina was the twenty
twenty year just completely had his postseason pulled out und Room.
He said the reason he went to Kentucky was playing
a tournament. Didn't get that, and then Grady was in
the Saint Peter's game. So i think both of those
guys just want to play another game in Roperena to
leave on a better note.
Speaker 2 (22:35):
Well, like I told Kellen, if there's one guy I
want to give a do over, he would be one
of them because he got hurt. If he played through
his injury and then the Saint Peter's game, well we
didn't need to talk about.
Speaker 4 (22:43):
That, and we learned after that loss just what he
was dealing with throughout the year and how bad that
injury was.
Speaker 2 (22:48):
Do you think he'll be standing in a spot? All right,
we got to take our break. We come back. We
got a lot more coming up live. We're in downtown
Levin and come on by. We got a good crowd already,
so come on by. We're live from Marion County. This
is Kentucky's Ports Radio. All right, welcome back, Kentucky's sports
radio line from downtown Levenon here in Marion County. Got
a nice little set up here. The sun's coming out now,
(23:08):
little windy there at first, Shannon, and now we have
the sun's coming out. Feeling good out here right now,
So come on out, come on join us. Our thanks
to the eleven and Tourism Board who brought us out here,
and of course Johnny Elder Law Office Johnny Rockets are
helping us bring us out here today. We appreciate it. Now,
we started our our recountdown of the counties when Matt
took off for the entire month of Junie July. I
(23:29):
don't even know that. You know, Matt was off for
two months.
Speaker 4 (23:31):
I thank keep saying it's two months. It's actually longer
because it's a weekend to August it may.
Speaker 2 (23:35):
Yeah, it's like ten weeks, right, Yeah, they took off.
So we decided to pick back up the county countdown
try to finally get to Woodford County. And we're close.
Speaker 4 (23:42):
We're very close.
Speaker 2 (23:43):
We are now at County number one hundred and eighteen
Whitley County. Now we usually do this at eleven o'clock.
We got to move it up to ten thirty. So
we're county number one eighteen Whitley County, which has a
town Corbyn that it has to be the only town
in the state that sits in three counties, the technically
in Whitley County, Laurel County, and Knox County. We're going
(24:05):
to get him to Witley County.
Speaker 4 (24:06):
Oh, okay, you're handing them overuse.
Speaker 3 (24:11):
Somebody had to finally make the call on it. So
Ryan Levitt, of all people, Corby.
Speaker 2 (24:15):
Is in Whitley County and all right here about that
you go first.
Speaker 4 (24:19):
Well, I'm a big fan of the university's governments in
Whitley County. Yes, and I like it because that's I
don't remember when to start a few years ago, but
I like when Stoops takes the boys to practice there
on their way down to Tennessee. The first time they
did that was when they one of the rare times
we wanted Tennessee beat the balls big game down there
with all the pick sixes. So when I think of
Whitley County, that jumps out to me because that is
(24:39):
such a unique thing they've done, and I love how
they kind of give the mountains that on their way
down it's a little stop before we go play the vaults.
So my big takeaway is the University of the Cumberlands also.
Speaker 2 (24:48):
Want to when to add to the University Cumberlands. Oh
go on, they are the sixteen time national champions in archery.
Speaker 4 (24:56):
That was my the sentence. I was about to say,
that's that's my notes there. Yeah, they're not just a
little stop for Mark Stoops. This is archery country, yes
it is. Everyone looks up to Whitley County when it
comes to their bow and arrows.
Speaker 2 (25:08):
All right, what else you got?
Speaker 3 (25:09):
Well, do you know the name Eddie Setzer?
Speaker 2 (25:11):
Heard that name?
Speaker 3 (25:12):
Well you should know it because he is from Corbyn
and wrote songs for the Oakridge Boys, Faith Hill. Even
Willie Nelson and Ray Charles had the song Spanish seven Spanish.
Speaker 2 (25:23):
Angels, Seven Spanish Angels, which went.
Speaker 3 (25:24):
To number one, and he was from Corbin. Unfortunately passed
away in twenty twenty at the age of seventy seven.
But a big contributor to country music comes from Corbin
and Whitley County.
Speaker 4 (25:34):
I wanted to add the archery program only started in
twenty twelve and they had won sixteen national championships. Whoa,
I guess there's different things you can win in and
they'll say yeah, But to just just start up, you know,
a little over a decade ago and always be already
be a powerhouse, that's pretty shows how good they are, how.
Speaker 2 (25:50):
Good they re.
Speaker 5 (25:52):
Since you gave Corbin to Whitley County North Corbyn just
north of I guess Whitley County is home to Sanders Cafe,
which is the birthplace of Kentucky Fried Chicken. It was
founded there by Harlan David Sanders, better known as Colonel Sanders,
in nineteen thirty. So is the KFC Museum and the
Ridge Restaurant. Is it not in Whitley County?
Speaker 2 (26:13):
It says North.
Speaker 5 (26:14):
Corbyn, So I guess that's left up to interpretation. But
as you decreed, Corbyn is a part of Whitley County.
Speaker 2 (26:20):
We've got North Corbyn.
Speaker 4 (26:21):
I'm worried you guys are going to start a fight
that you're not ready to take on.
Speaker 2 (26:25):
I think we give North Corbyn to Whitley County.
Speaker 4 (26:27):
I mean you're giving them Colonel Sanders. Yes, oh wow.
Speaker 2 (26:30):
Do you think Colonel Sanders. Don't you think he's from.
Speaker 4 (26:32):
Corbin Shannon are not a part of that?
Speaker 2 (26:33):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (26:34):
I just think he's from Kentucky. I don't know a
specific place.
Speaker 2 (26:37):
Tell us about the Cumberland Falls.
Speaker 4 (26:39):
Yeah, that's the main attraction there. It has the only
moon bow in the Western Hemisphere. What is the moon bow?
Speaker 2 (26:45):
Ryan, Well, tell me about it.
Speaker 4 (26:46):
When when the mist comes off that Cumberland Fall, that
waterfall and a full moon hits it just right, it
creates a rainbow, and it is the only place on
this side of the world where that happens.
Speaker 2 (26:58):
Yeah, there's only like two in the world. One of
them in our side the world is down there in
Cumberland Falls.
Speaker 4 (27:02):
I've been to Cumberland Falls, not for the mombo, but
during the day, and I mean, even if you're not
there to see the only mombo in the Western Hemisphere,
it's a fun place. So just get out and walk around.
Speaker 3 (27:10):
Do we know when the mombo is going to happen?
Speaker 9 (27:13):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (27:13):
Does it just kind of randomly happen? It has a schedule, Yeah,
he's stillsted.
Speaker 2 (27:17):
Schedule, and it's like Drew says, when it has a
full moon, like mombo dot com. Okay, I love Cumberland Falls.
You can take like a little raft ride that'll go
right out to the edge of the falls, and you know,
you feel the power of it, and then that's cool.
It is cool. It's great cool.
Speaker 4 (27:29):
When we called the thirteenth Region Games, we had a
morning show there, but then we had like a seven
hour gap until we had to be back. I just
went to had a peaceful afternoon by myself.
Speaker 3 (27:38):
I'm interested in seeing what Ryan Lemon's German notes say
about uh, well.
Speaker 2 (27:42):
Thankfully my Whitley kind of notes weren't translating the German
Corbin in Whitley County may have the most successful athletes
per capita than any city in the state. I'm saying
that too. Okay, Heritzburg has to be in the conference.
The conversation probably Herdsburg or Corbin. And now and here's
I'll tell you why Corbyn has Frank Selvy. We're going
(28:05):
to talk with basketball. He has the record for most
points scored in the college basketball game. We scored one
hundred for Furman and he was the number one draft
pick in the NBA. That's pretty good. But listen for
the football talent that's come out of this town. We
started Roy Kidd three hundred wins college football legend legend
Roy Kidd, The Bird brothers, Roger Bird, Jerry Bird, Calvin Bird.
(28:28):
All three played at UK. Roger Bird and Calvin Bird
played football, went onto the AFC because the Dead didn't
have the NFL and then was AFL cfl AFL and
Jerry Bird played basketball at Kentucky and went to the NBA.
I would argue there's not more successful three brothers in
the state than the three Bird brothers. But wait, there's more.
(28:48):
There's more old players. Dan Neil played at UK, played
in the NFL. George McAfee College and Pro Football Hall
of Fame also born in Corbyn. And there's two guys
playing in the NFL right now who were also born
in Corbyn, Trent Taylor, receiver for the forty nine Ers
and Jared Stenham, a quarterback for the Broncos. I mean,
I just told you about ten football players that were
born in Corbyn that went on to play in professional ranks.
Speaker 3 (29:13):
It's pretty impressive, but I think, but I'm still just
kind of, you know, shocked by you just handing over
Colonel Sanders to Whitley County like that, just you know.
Speaker 2 (29:24):
So definitively.
Speaker 5 (29:25):
I mean, that's a popular that's a popular Kentuckian Ryan.
I think I originally born in Indiana, but it made
his name in Kentucky.
Speaker 2 (29:32):
Made his name is Kentucky, the original restaurants there and
they got the museum there. We're giving it to Whitley
County because it's Whitley County Day.
Speaker 4 (29:39):
You are certainly doing that. I have two non athletes
from the area, all right, Spencer Diamond an up and
coming R and B artist now lives in Lexington. He's
from Whitley County. Would you like to know who represents
him in his musical career. We'll tell us that Ramel
Smooth Bradley. Yeah. I've seen a little Spencer Diamond around town,
so I didn't know he was Whitley County until this.
Speaker 2 (30:01):
Out Whitley County.
Speaker 4 (30:02):
Yes, shout out to Spencer Diamond and then one of
my favorite people on planet Earth. I miss him every day.
Daniel Dunstan. He didn't die. He's still at Lax eighteen.
We just don't work there anymore. Y TD, the guy
who used to be on all these road trips with
us carry in the big camera for Hay Kentucky back
when we had it. We miss working with Daniel, but
he is also a Witney County and there.
Speaker 3 (30:23):
Is nobody I would rather have me drive me around
New York City than Daniel Dunstan exactly.
Speaker 2 (30:27):
Was the best driver when it comes to New York traffic.
Speaker 4 (30:29):
I hope one day in life, on down the road,
our career is a line again, and me and Daniel
in the back of a van in the middle of
nowhere one more time while Matt, does you turns?
Speaker 2 (30:38):
Well? Speaking of driving Matt and Hubby and Sarah, I
think I could tell this story. They had to rent
a car in Spain, and remember Matt talked about most
of them are stick shifts. The only car they could
get was a stick shift. Can you believe this? For
six days Matt let Sarah Jefferson drive him around Spain
in a car.
Speaker 4 (30:57):
Of course, Sarah, that's not a vacation. For that's not
a vacation.
Speaker 2 (31:01):
You know, Matt was riding shotgun. My man, my man,
you go here, turn here. But yes, Sarah Jefferson drive
Matt and Hubby around for six days because neither one
of them could drive a stick shift.
Speaker 5 (31:12):
Well, even if you're a good driver and know how
to drive a stick shift, aren't you driving on the opposit.
Speaker 4 (31:16):
Side of the road over there?
Speaker 5 (31:17):
So that would definitely take some getting used to. And
I would make a mistake every now and then, so
I can't imagine Matt being in the back seat for
that those kind of mistakes.
Speaker 4 (31:25):
I went to Ireland. I landed in Dublin, got straight
off the planet into a rental car and had to
drive three and a half hours. Having never done it before,
and I still get anxiety thinking about Imagine that I'm
pulling out of the Enterprise and they're waving to me,
and I almost get t bone because I look the
wrong way, because you're supposed to look the other. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (31:41):
Well, we all give a little uh tip of the
cap and shout out to Sarah Jefferson have to go
through six days of driving Matt around Spain. God bless you.
Speaker 4 (31:50):
She deserves a vacation. All right, we are.
Speaker 2 (31:51):
Live in downtown eleven and Marion County. Day here, Thanks
eleven and Tourism and Johnny Elder. Johnny Rockets there he is,
He's back there. See he's always rocking. He has to
sit in a rocking chair because he's always rocking. That's
why they call him.
Speaker 3 (32:03):
Johnny Rocker, Johnny Rocker, not Johnny Rockett, Not Johnny Rockett.
Speaker 2 (32:07):
We come back. I'm going to visit with the Marion
County girls softball team and find out why they're all
here and wish them best of luck. We come back
here on Kentucky's Sports Radio. All right, welcome back Kentucky
Sports Radio Live and downtown Lebanon and Marion County as
part of the Levanon Tourism Board in their summer concert
series wrapping up a week from tomorrow next Friday with
(32:27):
J D. Shelburne. And before we go to our special
guest here Toery, we need to clarify a couple of
things about Whitley County.
Speaker 4 (32:33):
Yes, well, you and Billy need to clarify some s.
I didn't say it, but uh, Colonel in North Corbyn
would be uh not Whitley County. It borders Tennessee. So
I think you all need to give Colonel Sanders Museum
back to Knox County.
Speaker 2 (32:46):
Yeah, give them back. So in Knox County and Laurel
Lawell County both lay claim to the KFC Museum. Yeah,
so I think it's in Corbyn, and I think Corbyn's
in Whitley County. So I think Corbyn gets it, but.
Speaker 4 (32:58):
North Corbyn, you know, Whitley's It'd be hard to put
North Corbyn.
Speaker 3 (33:01):
He's so defiant Colonel Sanders. Just let him know that
Wentley County doesn't get Colonel Sanders. I think Corbyn gets
Colonel Sanders. And Corbyn's in Whitley County.
Speaker 4 (33:09):
I think you're gonna have a fight on your hands.
Speaker 2 (33:12):
I also forgot to mention the arena down there. You
know we've done shows down there. We've done the thirteenth
Region basketball tournament down there, and Ludacrous is coming in Decembluda.
Speaker 3 (33:25):
I mean they've had Snoop Dogg there. They're bringing all
kinds of nostalgic ass.
Speaker 4 (33:30):
I think I might have to go see some LOUDA.
Speaker 2 (33:32):
I would love to see it. Christy balla our friend
and runs the arena down there. She does a great job.
So we want to make give them a shout out.
All right. You know Marion County known for their basketball
Anthony Epps, Elton Scott, they wanted to stay tight on
the nineties and of course Mikaylae Apps. They won state title. Superstars.
We've got some future superstars behind us right now. This
(33:53):
is the Marion County twelve year old girls softball team
drew and they are state champion, getting ready to go
to the Reek.
Speaker 3 (34:02):
So yeah, I say, I would say they're already superstars.
How many state titles did you win? I didn't win any.
Speaker 2 (34:07):
I didn't win it either. So we have Eleanor Stewart here.
You're the spokesperson for your team. How good are you guys?
Are you pretty good? We're really good?
Speaker 4 (34:16):
Oh, there you go.
Speaker 2 (34:17):
What makes you good?
Speaker 9 (34:18):
We got a lot of fight in us.
Speaker 2 (34:20):
Yeah, you don't give up. Now, how was it at
the state tournament? Who'd you have to beat? Where was it?
And how did that go?
Speaker 9 (34:25):
Our first game was against Fleming me On and we
went in the extra innings that game.
Speaker 2 (34:30):
All and you're tough. So you're tough? Says you want it? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (34:33):
All right?
Speaker 2 (34:33):
Then what happened?
Speaker 9 (34:34):
Then we had to play again that day at eight
and we played North otom that for the championship, No,
just for the bracket.
Speaker 2 (34:43):
Just the winner's bracket. And then who'd you play in
the championship?
Speaker 9 (34:46):
Jackson County? And you smoked them after the first game?
Speaker 2 (34:50):
Oh so you are? You guys are pretty tough. You
had an extra inning game in game one, and then
you had to come from behind win after they beat
you in the championship game, you had to come I
can beat them to win the title? Pretty good?
Speaker 4 (35:02):
Yeah? Really cool. I'm looking across at the bank and
they've you know, they've got the windows painted with the softball,
got your team name on there. What's it like just
having the community kind of embrace you? As you said,
you're you're the stars in Marion County right now.
Speaker 9 (35:14):
It's really exciting. This this only happens when we go
to state. The whole county doesn't come out just for district.
And now once we win state, it feels really exciting
just to have everybody behind our backs.
Speaker 3 (35:25):
I see that coming up on Sunday at four o'clock.
You got a big game. You're gonna be on ESPN plus.
That's gotta be exciting. Who are you playing?
Speaker 9 (35:32):
We play Illinois?
Speaker 3 (35:34):
Oh, Illinois. That Illinois doesn't have good softball. They're gonna
stop Illinois. So you guys are now Team Kentucky. Yes,
Team containing Where is the regional tournament?
Speaker 9 (35:44):
And it's in Indiana, Whiteapolis, whites down.
Speaker 2 (35:49):
Yeah, well, I know. The one thing about girls softball
is they have great chance, like good luck chance, motivational chance.
Do you have a good one you can do for
us right now? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (36:00):
To do it?
Speaker 2 (36:11):
Yeah? All right, listen, best of luck to you. Eleanor Stewart.
You're what position do you play? Oh? You're the picture.
Do you throw a lot of heat?
Speaker 3 (36:22):
Yes?
Speaker 4 (36:22):
Okay, she has some breaking.
Speaker 9 (36:23):
Balls or I have a curveball and a drop ball.
Speaker 4 (36:27):
That's why they're moving on.
Speaker 2 (36:29):
Shannon thinks he's a he's a he's a used to
pitch in college.
Speaker 3 (36:32):
He thinks he's a good pitcher. You think you can
get him. Wait, no, no, here's the thing. Ryan thinks
that he's a good hitter, still at his age. Oh yeah,
because I wasn't a hitter. You're a pitcher. He's a hitter.
I think we need some sort of like challenge where
Ryan tries to hit your best pitch.
Speaker 2 (36:44):
There's no doubt I would miss the drop ball. I
heard you get a nasty drop ball. I'm sure it's
swing and miss it. Yeah, I'm excited to watch it
on ESPN Plus ESPN Plus on Sunday at four o'clock.
The team Kentucky here, you're Marion County. So give them
a good luck round of applause. So we appreciate it.
Thank you, Eleanori. We appreciate good job, good job, thank you,
(37:07):
thank you. Ladies appreciate that. So how about that that'd
be cool for them? I say, as I said, the
downtown's all painted up. You know how communities rally behind
it when a team goes on and does something special.
So excited for what they've already done, but looking forward
to what they're going to do next. Because you know,
we are familiar with the Little League World Series for
boys baseball, we're familiar with the facility base.
Speaker 3 (37:29):
Yeah, we're a little too familiar with security, the FI.
Speaker 2 (37:32):
But they had the same thing for Little League softball.
They have their own division in their own World Series.
Speaker 3 (37:38):
I think you need to go find out where that
field is. Jump on there.
Speaker 4 (37:44):
Part of me thought about saying they need a pep talk,
but I just I don't think we're I don't know
if we need to do that. No, I don't know.
It's a twelve year old softball pep talk. Maybe sit
that one out.
Speaker 2 (37:53):
Yeah, I've been known to scare a few young children in.
Speaker 4 (37:56):
The Yeah, clearly they don't need it.
Speaker 2 (37:58):
They had their own chance, their chance, they had their
own motivation ready to go. So all right, eight five
nine two eight oh two two eight seven, that's our
hard pump chop phone number. We've still got Kentucky Joe
on there he is he still hanging on? All right,
Kentucky Joe, here you go, buddy, it's your chance.
Speaker 10 (38:14):
Okay, Well I just uh, actually and a half an hour,
you're gonna have my buddy on the j D Chevron
with him.
Speaker 2 (38:24):
Good buddies.
Speaker 7 (38:26):
Oh yeah, oh yeah, I've sang with him. Uh.
Speaker 10 (38:28):
I just tell BBN enjoy his music and come on
down there in another weekend and listen to him.
Speaker 7 (38:34):
Huh.
Speaker 10 (38:36):
He's doing the Uh, he's doing the Neon.
Speaker 7 (38:41):
Tyler Willias tour right now. And he's got a big
song called Car and Trucks right now.
Speaker 2 (38:46):
All right. Well, he's a big UK fan and uh,
there'll be probably a lot of UK fans here for
the concert series week from tomorrow.
Speaker 7 (38:53):
And he named his first guitar.
Speaker 8 (38:56):
Uh.
Speaker 7 (38:56):
He named it after making Tucky Joe.
Speaker 10 (38:58):
In fact, Doc twenty fourteen, he met me at Churchill
at Churchill down he called me Kentucky Joe.
Speaker 7 (39:06):
What's first words? He said? God blessing?
Speaker 2 (39:08):
Now are we believe in Kentucky Joe? That j D.
Shelburn named his guitar after him.
Speaker 3 (39:12):
I think that's the one that he smashed after his gig.
All right, Joe, thanks for the call, man. We appreciate you.
Speaker 2 (39:24):
Shannon appreciates the call. You didn't did what we're done,
you know, because you knew what was coming.
Speaker 4 (39:28):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (39:29):
I got a song about eleven and I think then
we got Robert up next. Robert's up next? All right, Robert,
go ahead, Hey.
Speaker 8 (39:36):
How you guys doing today?
Speaker 2 (39:38):
How are you doing?
Speaker 8 (39:38):
Robert better than I deserve?
Speaker 4 (39:42):
This is our Robert by the way, Ryan, Oh, it's
our Robert ruber Stand.
Speaker 2 (39:46):
Robert didn't catch that? Yea? Is it rut Beer Stand
in Whitley County.
Speaker 8 (39:51):
Yes, sir, yes, sir, okay.
Speaker 2 (39:54):
Live in Whitley County. Is the KFC Museum in Whitley County?
Speaker 8 (39:59):
No, it's about ten feet away.
Speaker 2 (40:02):
Close enough.
Speaker 8 (40:05):
But yeah, well, you know, it all gets very complicated
because like even the neighborhood that I live in, I'm
technically in Laurel County County, but I can throw a
rock and hit Laurel Knox Whitley, Like I mean, it's
you know, so Corbyn just kind of claims everything, and
(40:26):
everything kind of claims Corbyn.
Speaker 4 (40:29):
What about the Nimrock festival down there in Corbyn? Is
it in Willy County?
Speaker 8 (40:33):
Yeah? Yeah, the greatest name festival in the state. It's
Corbyn spelt backwards. We got real creative with it.
Speaker 4 (40:40):
That's my favorite festival.
Speaker 2 (40:43):
Anything I think needs to be Whitley County. Corbyn and
Whitley County. It should be Whitley County. So that's how
I look at it. Especially the root beer stand.
Speaker 8 (40:51):
Oh thank you very much. But you know, we can't
forget about Williamsburg. They got a lot going on too.
And you know there's a lot more than just the
root beer stand here. We've got a lot of great restaurants.
If you're ever in there yet, please I appreciate it
very much. But we got a lot of locally owned
great restaurants. We got the Depot down on Main Street,
(41:12):
great steaks, great everything. We got a really cool little
place called the Wrigley. You know that's farm, the table
taff Room, really awesome joint. And you know there's a
lot to do here in this real small community.
Speaker 2 (41:27):
Well there you go. It's spoken from a true Whitley
County and rutber stand Robert. Appreciate the call, Robert. That
counts as our Whitley County cost. We got it taken
care of.
Speaker 4 (41:35):
So depot. We went there during one of those KSR
Friday Night, the Kroger football game of the weeks.
Speaker 2 (41:40):
When Douglas played Corbin down there.
Speaker 4 (41:42):
Yeah, I had a good time there. Now I love
all our trips to.
Speaker 2 (41:44):
Now Corbyn's coming in return trip, coming back to Douglas
then this year, all right, well take our break, we
come back. We come back to the top of the hour.
I seen Anthony fs is here, the Pride of Lebanon
right there, Marion County. We'll talk to him. The kay
Laugh's coming up and a lot more. Conor come out
and see us. We're downtown on Lebanon ks R. Summer
pop up Tour live from Marion County. We'll be right
back
