Speaker 3 (00:58):
Welcome back.

Speaker 5 (00:59):
I remember two Kentucky Sports radio here at the Chaos
Bar and Grill. We are now open for wings day,
dollar Wings all day. So come on out and join us.
We got nice crowd here, ladies of Paris High School.
We got some folks from all over, so let it go.
It's unpopular opinion day. They're coming in on the text machine.

(01:21):
One person writes, let's see where was it?

Speaker 3 (01:24):
I lost it?

Speaker 5 (01:24):
Oh, Matt, I think my old Kentucky Home and you'll
never leave. Harlan Alive are terrible songs to play at games.
You need to be upbeat. No other school plays these
morbid hymns at their games. Why do we do that?

Speaker 6 (01:41):
I would be inclined to agree, except though, if you're
in Kroger Field and that never leave Harlan Alive comes
booming through the speakers and they play the video. There's
something about it.

Speaker 3 (01:52):
Man.

Speaker 2 (01:52):
You get goosebumps when you're in there, and.

Speaker 7 (01:54):
It's not the whole song. It's just a quick little clip.
It's only a few seconds. Then it cuts into some
some better.

Speaker 6 (01:59):
Music, especially if fespecially if it's at nighttime. Now they
got the lights, they can get even darker in there,
and'd be cool.

Speaker 7 (02:05):
On that note, somebody said, happy Chandler's My Old Kentucky
Home video is an absolute buzzkill and horrible fringe to watch.

Speaker 3 (02:11):
I did actually think that's kind of switch. To me.

Speaker 5 (02:14):
My old Kentucky Home is all about when you play it, like,
I'm fine playing it after the game. I don't like
it if they ever use it in anything before the game,
because it's not like an upbeat thing, like when the
cheerleaders though after the game or have their I'm good
with that. I think that's kind of I think that's
that that's okay, but you can't use it in anything
where you're trying to get a crowd into it, you know,
from the third downstop.

Speaker 2 (02:35):
No, they used to play it before the game, that's it.

Speaker 3 (02:40):
I did.

Speaker 2 (02:40):
They did finally switch it to after the game.

Speaker 5 (02:42):
I don't think that's uh, you know that that's something
you do. Eight I'm nine two eight oh twenty two
eighty seven. One person writes Matt. My unpopular opinion is
that Zach Bryan is way overrated. I hate when people
compare him to Tyler. He's nowhere close to Tyler Sturgel
or Chris staple To and he's fine, but he's pop
country that somehow people have acted like is real country.

(03:06):
I don't dislike him, but I do think he's more
pop country than he is actual like my kind of country.

Speaker 3 (03:13):
I don't.

Speaker 5 (03:13):
I've never understood how he gets lumped into the Tyler
stuff because I don't think he's I just don't think
that's his style.

Speaker 7 (03:18):
I like him. I've been to two concerts, but I've
never had him in the same conversation as Tyler Childer
as a Chris Tablois Surgelet's to me, like you're saying, it's.

Speaker 3 (03:25):
It's just a different kind of music. It's not. He's fine.
I don't particularly like him.

Speaker 5 (03:29):
I like him more than I like pop country, but
I don't think he's like.

Speaker 7 (03:34):
The other revival. His song at Real Bird was a
religious experience. Everyone was there, was like thirteen minutes long,
and it started raining. That was one of my favorite
concert moments.

Speaker 3 (03:42):
Yeah, girls really like Zach Bryant. I mean, that's that's
kind of his thing, right.

Speaker 7 (03:46):
Girls, different Druan girls.

Speaker 3 (03:49):
Girls, that's right, all right, who's up next?

Speaker 2 (03:51):
Rick, Marcia is up next?

Speaker 3 (03:52):
Marcia go ahead? And Marcia Okay?

Speaker 8 (03:56):
Yeah.

Speaker 9 (03:58):
I don't want to be real critical that our cheerleaders
are performers. They are not cheerleaders. They don't engage with
the crowd is what I mean. And these outfits that
they've won for thirty years, they're stepfordy like Indiana still
wearing their striped breches for fifty years.

Speaker 3 (04:21):
Oh you think they need to be a little bit
more sassy, Marcia?

Speaker 9 (04:27):
How about just normal and not step party. How about
a girl with a short haircut, how about a little
aaf row, how about a little chevy girl anything? If
they're not going to win their championships anymore, how about
just normal, you know, and a new outfit every couple
of years.

Speaker 10 (04:46):
Like other schools. Do you know?

Speaker 9 (04:50):
And that our twenty four time national championship we don't
say our eight time to win championship basketball team. Let
them another one?

Speaker 3 (05:01):
Oh wow, wow, Marshall. I appreciated Marsha.

Speaker 5 (05:06):
Used them Popular Opinion Day to get her cheerleading stuff out.
First of all, we had someone right here make a
cheerleading comment earlier that they wish they did cheers and
engaged with the crowd. That's exactly what Marcia said. I'm
glad Marcia said it because it's I don't think I
don't think it's really an opinion males have, but I

(05:27):
kind of agree on the it is the same outfit
from the eighties. It's sort of like their outfit is
a little bit like wearing shoulder pads with suits, like
it's Marcia said it not me. But but with that said, though,
they still are amazing athletes.

Speaker 7 (05:47):
You know, we started this conversation. I didn't have Danissel
the UK cheerleaders in k Wood catching strays of Tim
Couch going after some of our best stuff.

Speaker 3 (05:55):
They really are, aren't they. They really are going after
our best stuff.

Speaker 6 (05:58):
You don't realize how good that our triggers are until
you go to another home game and you see the training.
Oh wow, our girls are like super super much better
than that.

Speaker 3 (06:07):
Wow, Marcia Marcia.

Speaker 5 (06:09):
Marcia took the unpopular and said, you know what, this
is my chance to throw it out there.

Speaker 3 (06:13):
Who's next? Bob is next? Bob?

Speaker 10 (06:16):
Go ahead, Bob, Good morning, ks R.

Speaker 3 (06:19):
What's your unpopular opinion?

Speaker 10 (06:22):
Do you want it first or second?

Speaker 3 (06:24):
Well, you only get one thing, it's unpopular opinion. So
what is it?

Speaker 10 (06:28):
Well, the unpopular opinion is hanging in banner and rep
arena for Keler Perry is like putting a picture of
your rapist daughter.

Speaker 5 (06:38):
Okay, no, no, no, no, to Rick, Rick, drop that Rick,
did you get it? Yep, we're fine, Okay, Bob, we
can't say that. Okay, but I appreciate that. I love you, Bob,
but we can't. We can't do that one, okay. So
he if I'm nine two eight oh twenty two eighty
seven text machine seven seven to two seven seven four
five two five four.

Speaker 6 (06:59):
Cal Perry will have a banner, Yes, you will at
some point, right will. He's earned it, Actually, he deserves it.
Up there, we finally got Tubby one up there?

Speaker 5 (07:09):
Would you put Caliperi's banner up while he's at Arkansas?

Speaker 3 (07:14):
Let's say he coached there for fifteen years.

Speaker 7 (07:17):
I'm very pro Caliperi gets his banner in his moment,
but not while you're still coaching in the conference and
on the sched So do you have to.

Speaker 3 (07:23):
Wait until he's retired? Yeah?

Speaker 7 (07:26):
Or unless he just goes to some kind of like
Tubby with high point. I don't see that happening. But
not when you're at what is a long time rival,
did you see?

Speaker 5 (07:34):
An Arkansas website reported that when cow got hired, they
made a goal of getting five thousand people into their
nil and that right now they have six hundred and eighty.

Speaker 6 (07:48):
Oh wow, I thought they would get more than that.

Speaker 3 (07:54):
I would put everything else aside.

Speaker 5 (07:56):
I would have thought the newness of it would have
made that work better than than than than I thought.

Speaker 7 (08:04):
I don't know anything about what's going on over there,
but is it similar to how he was just not
willing to take help like he was here because it
wasn't looking good towards the end of last season he
was trying to a fundraise.

Speaker 5 (08:15):
I have no idea. I don't know that's that's I
haven't followed it close.

Speaker 3 (08:19):
Enough to know. But I did see that this morning.
But we all agree he should have a band.

Speaker 7 (08:23):
Oh yeah, yes, And I will stand in cheer when
he gets that moment you will.

Speaker 3 (08:27):
Yeah. I wanted it to end, but well, what would you?
What are you gonna do when he comes in here
next year? February?

Speaker 5 (08:32):
Like, let's just say, let's say that a camera was
fixated on Drew Franklin and that the world cared what
Drew Franklin did when John Caliperi was introduced. Is is
Drew Franklin going to clap? Is Drew Franklin going to boo?
Is Drew Franklin going to sit neutrally and do anything
if he.

Speaker 3 (08:51):
Knows the world is gonna watch.

Speaker 7 (08:53):
I'm not clapping for any opposing coach walking into a arena,
but I wouldn't boo either. I know people are gonna boo,
and I'm not against it, but I think I would
just sit on my hands. When he comes back, when
his career's over and that banner goes up, I will
absolutely cheer because he gave us a great run. I
just thought it was long overduty by the way, I
would sit neutrally too.

Speaker 5 (09:12):
I think, do you agree with Mark's story that it
will make Kentucky fans.

Speaker 3 (09:17):
Look bad if they boom?

Speaker 7 (09:20):
For me, it's all about where he went. If he
had gone somewhere completely random and just happened to pop
on the schedule, I think it'd be a little weird
to boom. But it's Arkansas. I think we should boo
whoever the Arkansas coaches.

Speaker 3 (09:30):
It's kind of like with Rick.

Speaker 5 (09:31):
You know, Rick Patino considered going to Michigan, and I
think if he had gone to Michigan, Kentucky fans wouldn't have.

Speaker 3 (09:37):
Been mad at him.

Speaker 5 (09:37):
But then he went and went to Louisville. Yes, and
that was different. I think if he had gone to Michigan,
it would have been a different situation. Don't you think
that's kind of like that with cal too?

Speaker 6 (09:45):
I agree, if you're sitting on that other bench, on
the other sideline, you deserve what's coming to you. You
left us, and you're now on the guy we're gonna beat.
We want to beat you.

Speaker 10 (09:52):
Right.

Speaker 5 (09:52):
So what would Ryan Lemon do if the camera was
on him when Cali Perry was interesting?

Speaker 6 (09:57):
I wouldn't boo. I'd probably you know, I probably do.
I probably would give him I give the thumbs down.
What if he sees it, I'd give him the thumbs down.

Speaker 3 (10:06):
You would, you would go thumbs down.

Speaker 2 (10:08):
I think I'd go thumbs down.

Speaker 5 (10:09):
So you it's it's odd because he had more visceral
dislike for me and Drew.

Speaker 3 (10:16):
Than he did you.

Speaker 5 (10:18):
But yet you seem to be more likely to give
him a negative reaction. Yeah, but that's because in part
you when you hate people.

Speaker 3 (10:27):
I definitely I.

Speaker 6 (10:28):
Wouldn't boo, although I, like Drew said, I know there's
gonna be some people that will boo.

Speaker 7 (10:31):
I will not against the book.

Speaker 3 (10:33):
Uh, but uh, I don't think it makes Kentucky.

Speaker 5 (10:36):
I'm not gonna boo. But if fans did it, like
I think, that's not a.

Speaker 7 (10:41):
Surprise in college sports, it's a rival.

Speaker 3 (10:44):
Yeah boo.

Speaker 7 (10:44):
I mean if he went like to do a few
years at where to go like Clarion. He's the Clarion coach.
They come play, Sure, give him a little golf clap,
but it's Arkansas boo. Whoever's on?

Speaker 5 (10:53):
I make you can I make you a prediction of
what Kaw is gonna do before the game. I want
you to write this down in your little book and
remember that Matthew Harper Jones told me he's gonna do
an interview before the game where he's going to look
at the media and go, Now, when we go to Lexington,
boom me, put all your dislike on me, but don't

(11:13):
boo a visit. Don't boom big Z. That kid put
the uniform on and none of us were gonna boom
big Zie. But he will make a big thing about
boom Me. But don't boo big Z big Z. Even
though I don't think there's one Kentucky fan that would
do anything but cheer for Biggs.

Speaker 7 (11:29):
Well, that was kind of last season. He kept saying,
quit put it all these players, and we're thinking no one.

Speaker 3 (11:33):
Is, no one's behind the Yeah, but you wait, you
mark that.

Speaker 7 (11:38):
And I know people don't boo those three players.

Speaker 5 (11:40):
I would cheer big I'll cheer all the UK players. Yeah,
I'll cheer DJA. I mean when the game starts, I
don't win, but I'll cheer DJ Wagner. I'll cheer big
Z certainly will cheer uh a, dude, I'll cheer all
three of those guys.

Speaker 3 (11:51):
They did.

Speaker 5 (11:52):
Yeah, they'll they deserve it because they played here and
they didn't do anything wrong.

Speaker 3 (11:55):
Who's next? Tommy is Tommy? Go ahead, Tommy.

Speaker 8 (12:00):
Hey, I probleise I'll be more tained than the last
call my unpopular opinion, and I think it's weird. I
think most of our fans in Kentucky will probably agree
with this one, But nationally, it's like a totally different topic.
I think Anthony Richardson's gonna bust hard for the Indianapolis Colts,
and I think they've made a horrible mistake in grafting
him over.

Speaker 3 (12:19):
Hard guy love us.

Speaker 8 (12:22):
Like, but when you hear the national puns talking like
they think he's a legitimate NVP candidate this year, and
I'm like, like, show me the game where he could
win win without running for one hundred and fifty yards.

Speaker 3 (12:36):
Totally agree with you on that.

Speaker 5 (12:38):
Totally agree, Like he gets the benefit and I appreciate
the call. Anthony Richardson gets the benefit of Lamar because
they were all wrong about Lamar. They all said Lamar
was gonna stink and he was good, and so now
they compare.

Speaker 3 (12:50):
Him to Lamar.

Speaker 5 (12:51):
But what they forget, Drew is that Lamar was good
in college. Anthony Richardson was not good in college, and
that makes a difference.

Speaker 7 (12:58):
I Fido Tisdell's that it best Cam Newton no that
boy hot dog water. They still don't know what that means.
But I think that was a perfect analysis of his game.
And I'm a Colt hater, so I want the worst
for that.

Speaker 3 (13:09):
I hate Louisville with the passion.

Speaker 5 (13:11):
But Lamar was amazing, Like he was an amazing college player,
and it is so disrespectful to act like Anthony Richardson,
who went like five and seven, is as good as
Lamar who won the Heisman.

Speaker 6 (13:22):
I think rich is the second best quarterback on the Colts.
I think Joey Flacco is a better quarterback. Probably shuld
they should play him.

Speaker 7 (13:28):
Look at who went to a Colts preseason game last Sunday.

Speaker 5 (13:31):
In just a second, how did you look at you?
You know, Joe Flacco is the backup for the Colts. Well,
you should be hosting the ESPN show instead of me.
Who's next?

Speaker 3 (13:39):
George is up there? George? What's your unpopular opinion? I
think it's the dad bods.

Speaker 2 (13:46):
And I'll explain.

Speaker 11 (13:48):
I don't want to be sitting around next to my
wife and are bral thinking, you know, maybe for these
man boobs, I need brawl.

Speaker 7 (13:55):
I want to be able to give my.

Speaker 11 (13:56):
Wife kids without my stomach getting in the way. I
hear all these women talking about like wanting to go.

Speaker 2 (14:03):
See Magic Mike.

Speaker 11 (14:04):
I don't really hear them talking about going and seeing
Marshmallow Mike.

Speaker 2 (14:07):
I just think they deserve more.

Speaker 3 (14:09):
Yeah, I don't believe game right now?

Speaker 5 (14:12):
All right, well, good luck, and so I appreciate the call.
I don't believe any woman prefers dad bonds.

Speaker 3 (14:19):
I don't believe that. I mean, they can say it
all they want, not all your nice Yeah.

Speaker 5 (14:24):
I mean it's like I've had to watch over the
last few weeks as women in my life that are
friends of mine or whatever, give me the look of
surprise that I've lost weight, and then try not to
be mean about it, like not trying not to act
like that. I'm like, they'll go.

Speaker 3 (14:38):
You you look different. Of course, women prefer if you're yes,
right right?

Speaker 5 (14:45):
I mean you you you've gotten in tip top shape
for your lady, So you understand that.

Speaker 6 (14:50):
Yeah, the the chubby body, dad bod. We're kidding ourselves.
We think that's a good look. That is not a
good look.

Speaker 3 (14:57):
Hey.

Speaker 5 (14:57):
A new report from the Kentucky Chamber says that housing
is an issue in Kentucky.

Speaker 3 (15:01):
Did you know that?

Speaker 2 (15:02):
Tell me about it.

Speaker 5 (15:03):
The housing industry not only drives economic growth, it supports
over one hundred thousand jobs statewide. Over one point five
billion dollars in federal, state, and local taxes goes towards housing.
But we'd like to hear from those of you who
live in places in Kentucky. Do you think you need
more housing or whatever? Go to ky Chamber dot com
slash housing and tell us about the biggest housing needs

(15:23):
in your community. There's a lot of them here in Lexington,
like we need more of it. Ky Chamber dot com
slash housing to learn more. We will take a break.
Come back here at KOs Bars Kentucky Sports Radio. Welcome
back Tucky Sports Radio here at the Chos Bar and Grill.
In the first segment, one of the callers said something
I think inappropriate and we thought we thought we got

(15:43):
it dumped. I guess it didn't. So sorry that went
over the airways. That shouldn't have done that, and you
know I hate that.

Speaker 3 (15:51):
Uh.

Speaker 5 (15:52):
It's DraftKings DraftKings tonight. We have well this is our
DraftKings pick of the day. You go DraftKings, use promo
co k I bet five, get one hundred and fifty
dollars if you'd in bonus bets. If you do not
have DraftKings, get signed up. Over the next couple of
weeks because we will be doing a lot of stuff
year two of our partnership with them in football this year,
including at the bar. There's gonna be a lot of uh,

(16:14):
even building on what we did last year. I actually
meet with them this afternoon. But we'll pick the Cardinals
in the Reds since the Reds won the first two,
going for the sweep today against the Cardinals.

Speaker 3 (16:25):
If they win this game, the Reds are now.

Speaker 5 (16:26):
Tied with the Cardinals, which is crazy because they were
behind like five games on him recently, Cardinals pitching Kyle Gibson,
the Reds have Emilio Pagan.

Speaker 2 (16:35):
He said, they're gonna go Johnny Bullpen as a bullpen.

Speaker 3 (16:38):
He's a bullpen guy, so they're gonna do a bullpen game.

Speaker 6 (16:40):
I think, well, I like the Cardinals then to go
and going against the Red bull red It's.

Speaker 3 (16:43):
Got a decent bullpen though. I mean, it's all right,
But you're gonna take Cardinals of course.

Speaker 7 (16:47):
Yes, when Ryan said he was pretty much checked out
of the playoffs, already told me what kind of mind
frame Cardinals Nation is in it? So I'm going with
the Reds.

Speaker 5 (16:55):
Yeah, I'm gonna take I'm gonna take the Cardinals just
because the Reds don't sweep The Reds haven't swept the
Cardinals in seven years. Oh wow, So it's hard for
me to see them doing it tonight. So since they
won the first two, I will take them if I'm
nine two eight oh, twenty two eighty seven. One person writes, Matt,
I'm gonna My unpopular opinion is I don't know.

Speaker 3 (17:17):
That Pope's gonna be good.

Speaker 5 (17:19):
I feel like I'm the only person that believes that,
but I just worry about it. He's yet to get
a good recruit and this is Kentucky and we're not
gonna always want guys for mid majors.

Speaker 2 (17:31):
I mean, he's gotta go win, You're right.

Speaker 6 (17:33):
I mean, we're all excited right now, we all believe
in him right now, But they still have to go
out and win the games and that'll bring in the
recruits the following year.

Speaker 3 (17:40):
I hope it will.

Speaker 7 (17:40):
I have recruiting concerns like anyone else. I think it's
a little unfair to judge him on this first round.
He did it in a couple matter of weeks while
getting a coaching staff, so I'm not gonna put any.

Speaker 5 (17:51):
I think he did a good job in the portal. Yeah, yeah,
I'm more looking at next year's class and saying, you know,
I want to see at least one or two top
guy in that class.

Speaker 7 (18:01):
And he's still got time to do. He's still got
to concerned. But I'm not gonna, you know, close the
book on his recruiting. Actually think the portal went well there.

Speaker 5 (18:07):
You know, they lost a couple of guys, but when
you know the specifics of those circumstances, I understand why,
like like John L. Davis and he just asked for
an absurd amount of money and wanted to be guaranteed
a starting time or starting spot. And you know, Pope
doesn't even know what his roster is gonna be yet,
so I kind of get it.

Speaker 7 (18:26):
We all want a great Austin board. Then his price
went up like.

Speaker 5 (18:29):
And they got a commitment, and then they got a
commitment right before then, so like, you know, we're from Garrison, so.

Speaker 6 (18:35):
Really, you know, he did a great job putting the
pieces together to fit his system, and a short amount
of time he had, he went out and got each spot.
He's got at least one guy. Well he's got two
guys in a lot of those spots that will fit
his system.

Speaker 3 (18:47):
Yeah, who's up next? Ted? Is up next? Ted? Go ahead, gentlemen.

Speaker 12 (18:53):
That was a great segue. I'm calling from Chicago, but
I'm in a UK, Alum. I know I got to
move faster. I was there during the Joe by Hall
Rain Gillespie. But we got some breaking news here in Chicago.
WSCR Radio here is reporting, per Greg Sores, the Bulls
are expected to part ways with Billy Donovan and what's
weird about this is that it's probably going to be
the end of the season. Yeah, it's probably not gonna

(19:14):
be the end of the season. They're saying the Bulls
are obviously a team in rebuild and they want to
coach quote more geared to player development, and Donovan's made
it clear quote he wants to coach a team ready
to win. So I don't know if UK seriously.

Speaker 4 (19:28):
Ever considered Donovan.

Speaker 12 (19:29):
And this is not a slam against Pope, but this
is major news because Donovan had to know this, and
if if he knew, he was gonna.

Speaker 5 (19:37):
Be maybe no. No, I mean, clearly they've changed their mind.
There's no there'd be no rational basis to keep him
this long and then let him go.

Speaker 3 (19:45):
No, no, I'm saying that.

Speaker 12 (19:46):
Well, I know, but if this went down when when
the calving was going down, perhaps maybe if they did
talk to and maybe you guys know, did they talk
to Donovan, And perhaps this is why they didn't go
to donovan route because he doesn't want to go through
player development. Again.

Speaker 7 (19:59):
I just this is all kind of stunning.

Speaker 5 (20:01):
Dust Well, if that's true, and I appreciate the call.
I haven't seen the report, so I have no way
of knowing, but you know, they did talk to Donovan
wait for him.

Speaker 3 (20:10):
They were still in the.

Speaker 5 (20:11):
Playoffs, and then they they they basically Donovan said wait
until after the playoffs, and they didn't.

Speaker 2 (20:16):
They could.

Speaker 3 (20:17):
They didn't feel like they could wait that long. So,
because I.

Speaker 5 (20:20):
Understand, if you're Mitch Barnhart, Billy Donovan has turned you
down twice and has twice kind of led you on,
so you don't feel like you can wait because you
got to remember there was a time crunch because we
had to go build a roster. We didn't have a roster.
We were gonna have to start from scratch. So I
just don't think he felt like he could wait. And
then the other thing is, I mean what made Mark

(20:40):
Pope end up the higher is they kind of got work.
I think they here's something we didn't know at the time.
They knew they were about to get in trouble for
this football thing. Remember that's a university wide probation. That's
not just football, that's the whole thing. They knew that
was coming, and I think that is why they were

(21:03):
told they couldn't hire Bruce Pearl if if what's crazy
is when when Chris Rodriguez and those ten players ended
up getting their time cards signed at UK Healthcare. This
is the what the butterfly effect. I think Bruce Pearl's
a coach at Kentucky. If that doesn't happen. Do you

(21:24):
think that kept him from calling.

Speaker 3 (21:25):
I think it kept him from calling.

Speaker 5 (21:27):
And I think had had that not happened, I think
there's a decent chance he gets the call.

Speaker 3 (21:33):
And he's the coach.

Speaker 5 (21:34):
We know Bruce would walk here, so you know that
that is That's just the way it goes.

Speaker 3 (21:41):
It's it's it's the butterfly effect.

Speaker 6 (21:43):
It's a it's an interesting scenario that hadn't thought about
that that he prevented him from even getting a call.
If they knew those sanctions were coming for the university.

Speaker 3 (21:51):
I think they were.

Speaker 5 (21:52):
I think they were told, hey, there's a group of
people you can't talk to, and I think at least
two of those people would have been on the list
otherwise if that hadn't happened.

Speaker 2 (22:03):
Well, you know you you did.

Speaker 6 (22:05):
You came out here one day said there's a couple
guys that Eli Cappaluto said, do not We're not gonna
contact these guys. I guess Prapeerarl was one of those
guys you were talking about.

Speaker 5 (22:12):
Then, yes, Bruce Pearl, Sean Miller, and I think they
did talk to Natoates, but that might have been an
issue had it gone at that NATOATES conversation gone farther.

Speaker 7 (22:23):
Nadoats what it was. Twenty four hours into the process,
he put out that statement saying he was out.

Speaker 3 (22:28):
Yeah, if I'm nine two eighty seven, what's next?

Speaker 2 (22:32):
Got Dustin up next?

Speaker 3 (22:33):
Dustin got like forty seconds? What's your unpopular opinion?

Speaker 13 (22:37):
Unpopular opinion will be that coach Brooks will win more
games and more tournaments games than coach Pope Will.

Speaker 3 (22:48):
That's an interesting one, all right, I appreciate the call.

Speaker 5 (22:50):
Do you think the women's coach will win more overall
games and more tournament games in his career than Pope Will.

Speaker 7 (23:00):
I have high expectations of the women's coach. That's not
that crazy to say. I think I think they're gonna
be winning a lot. But I would still i'd lean
popa there.

Speaker 6 (23:08):
And he's got a coach Brooks say's got a great
roster put together already.

Speaker 5 (23:11):
I don't think that's crazy though, because I but Pope
will stay here if he's winning, if he's winning Pope.

Speaker 3 (23:17):
Will retire here, So I don't know that's an interesting one.

Speaker 7 (23:21):
We're gonna be good.

Speaker 3 (23:23):
We'll take a break very back. This is Kentucky Sports Radio.

Speaker 5 (23:29):
Walking back Tucky Sports Radio eight five nine, twenty two
eighty seven. Couple shouts out here, birthday shouts out Will
in d C. You have somebody here giving who wanted
me to give you a shout out. Molly in Lexington,
Happy birthday to her as well. And then uh Bill
in uh in Atlanta. Speaking of Atlanta, Ryan just said uh.

Speaker 3 (23:53):
I was like, hey, because well you read me one
what was one you read?

Speaker 10 (23:56):
Yeah?

Speaker 7 (23:56):
One on ks board said gold Stars better than Skyline.
I thought that might get you worked.

Speaker 3 (24:00):
Up, ridiculous, And I don't mind gold Star.

Speaker 5 (24:02):
My originally introduction to to go uh Cincinnati chili was
gold Star.

Speaker 3 (24:08):
I like it, but Skyline's better.

Speaker 5 (24:10):
Uh the hot sauce at Skyline is better than the
hot sauce at gold Star. But then I asked, Ryan,
what's that place we ate at that had the best
uh Cincinnati chili? And you just looked at me and said,
you mean in Atlanta. You think the best Cincinnati chili
was in Atlanta? I meant Newport.

Speaker 6 (24:27):
I was thinking of the varsity in Atlanta. You said
it started.

Speaker 3 (24:31):
I think you Cincinnati Chili started in Atlanta. Maybe the
chili they just decided to call it Cincinnati Chili even
though it started in Atlanta.

Speaker 6 (24:41):
I'm gonna give you little another little hot take for me. Okay,
I don't really like either one of them. Gold Star Skyline,
that's not hot.

Speaker 3 (24:47):
There's a lot of people Don'tah, Cincinnati Chili.

Speaker 7 (24:48):
Wisconsin has the best text mix.

Speaker 5 (24:50):
One person writes, Matt, my unpopular opinion is with your
birthday coming up, your Facebook age is your real age?

Speaker 2 (24:56):
Okay, you do have a birthday?

Speaker 3 (24:59):
Ca up.

Speaker 5 (25:00):
I know I'm gonna be gone. I'm gonna be an Aspen, right,
I got the place to be. I have dork camp
coming up, so I've got to go to dork camp
before basketball.

Speaker 3 (25:08):
But the first game that's my fellowship. By the way,
it's not an actual dork camp.

Speaker 7 (25:13):
But have you been to Aspen?

Speaker 5 (25:15):
Uh, We've I've driven through it, but I've never stayed there.
But we're in We're actually in a.

Speaker 3 (25:19):
Place called Bailey, Colorado, which is right next to Aspen.
I'm there for like a week.

Speaker 5 (25:24):
So you you had one that you haven't given yet
that this is your personal opinion.

Speaker 7 (25:28):
I thought it was gonna be a scorching hot take,
but after our callers have just thrown stones at Tim
Couch and Kwood and cheerleaders, yeerleaders, I don't feel that
bad pulling Anthony Davis down a notch. I love Anthony
Davis O. He is I think the greatest to ever
play here.

Speaker 3 (25:45):
Wait a minute, watch yourself.

Speaker 7 (25:47):
However, John Caliperi would still have zero titles if not
for Doron Lamb. He won that, not Anthony Davis. Listen,
seventeen points per game in the twenty twelve instead of
tournament seven for twelve from the field for twenty two points.
In the title game, Kansas played lockdown defense and Deran
normally hitting those corner threes. He started attacking the rim

(26:09):
and Deran was the offense. And on top of that,
he didn't sleep the whole time. So we still don't
have that title. Even though Anthon Davis is great. He
took the fifth most shots, great defense. He made up
for what he wasn't scoring. They still don't win that
game without Deron Limb. He is the most valuable player
of the tournament. Runs not the whole season, and I'm
not saying he's better, But in those six games, Deron

(26:29):
Lamb put the team on his back.

Speaker 5 (26:31):
I think I've heard, and you can correct me if
I'm wrong. Did Anthony Davis take the fifth most shod
He was.

Speaker 7 (26:36):
Great, His defense was very important. Not downplaying that. But
they don't win it without Deran Yeah.

Speaker 3 (26:41):
No, I mean I think that's true of any title team.

Speaker 5 (26:43):
You can find a secondary player and say they wouldn't
have won if he didn't if he didn't play well. No,
I'm not I don't think that's I understand where you're
gett at. They wouldn't have won that game unless he
played well. But I also think if someone else had
been there, they might have played well too.

Speaker 3 (26:57):
Anthony Davis was irreplaceable on that team.

Speaker 5 (27:00):
But Den Lamb is underrated sort of in what an
amazing shooter he is and how important and specifically that
game they Kansas locked him down and Dorn said, hey,
it's drawn time, team, no sleep, let's watch some Martin.

Speaker 7 (27:11):
Here we go.

Speaker 3 (27:12):
He was a great shooter.

Speaker 6 (27:13):
Andy Davis only had eight points I think in the
championship game, but there you go.

Speaker 5 (27:17):
But he did like dominate the inside even during he
did took the fifth don is the goat took the
fifth most shots. One person rights mine popular opinion. Hooters
wings are the worst wings that have ever been made
in the history of food.

Speaker 3 (27:33):
It's a harsh sentiment.

Speaker 2 (27:35):
They're not as good as our wings.

Speaker 5 (27:36):
I used to really think Hooters wings were good, yea,
until two places changed my mind. One is well really three.
One is this place for the bone in wings, One
is roosters for the bone out. And then the place
up in northern Kentucky where they double frime. What's that
place called? I always forget what barley corns barley corns.

(27:59):
Once I've had all those three, you kind of realize
how like it's like eating tomatoes out of a can,
and then you have an actual tomato.

Speaker 3 (28:08):
It's different.

Speaker 7 (28:08):
You're talking to you. I've told this four. I had
the lection and record at the Richmond Road. Hooters still
might have it. They let me sign the table eighty
one and one night, the night Kobe scored eighty one,
I went wing for point on All you Can Wing Night.
I was sick for so long I can't even look
at a Hooters wing. Well, Kobe was scoring right at
the time I started, I said, I'm going point for win.

Speaker 3 (28:27):
All right, who's next? Nola? Is next? Nolan? What's your
unpopular opinion?

Speaker 14 (28:33):
Uh?

Speaker 13 (28:33):
Yeah, especially after this these past Olympics, which I love.

Speaker 2 (28:36):
They're all athletes.

Speaker 13 (28:38):
But can can we all just agree that gymnastics and
diving just aren't sports. Anytime you have a judge, it's
just not a sport, right, I mean you have judges
for you know, the best sheep at the four h
fair and quilting at the state fair.

Speaker 3 (28:53):
Those aren't sports, right, You do have a judging for
sheep and quilting. I don't know if that makes it
the same thing. Okay, So that it's a classic appreciate
the call classic question. What's a sport? Right? So?

Speaker 5 (29:05):
To me, a sport is does it have athletic ability?
So gymnastics and diving are both that. It's an imperfect
sport because they's judging. I will grant you that, because
you can have human fallibility getting the way of the winner.

Speaker 3 (29:21):
But it's certainly a sport.

Speaker 5 (29:22):
I mean, gymnasts may be some of the best athletes
ryan that exist if you're just talking pure athleticism, and
they're certainly more athletic.

Speaker 3 (29:31):
Than like a ping pol player. So I mean, I
don't mind saying that they are that they're sport.

Speaker 6 (29:37):
They are one hundred percent athletes, that is a one
hundred percent of sport. But you're right, it is seem
odd that is judged by three people sitting on the sideline.

Speaker 5 (29:45):
But I don't know how you could do it, Like,
what else are you gonna do? You know, you gotta
have judges. It's not like you're telling get their points.
It's not like there's a race, you know.

Speaker 7 (29:53):
I mean, it's I hear the argument, but uh, I
think Simone Biles is a little different than the guy
pulling a sheep out and saying, look at this thing,
what's score did we get?

Speaker 5 (30:00):
You know, by the way, if you want to note
how much Olympics are based on when we watch it
in America, whether or not we're good at it. The
sport that showcases that most is diving because when we
when I was young, diving was on TV all the time.

Speaker 2 (30:14):
Yes it was.

Speaker 5 (30:15):
They showed diving almost as probably more than they showed swimming.
And then we suck at it now and I didn't
see one diving event, did you know?

Speaker 2 (30:26):
You're right, but we saw Katie Ledecki swim every.

Speaker 5 (30:28):
Event, likes hitting his head huge is one of my
strongest sports memories. And I don't even know. I don't
know that I saw one dive this year at all.

Speaker 7 (30:40):
I can remember going to my grandmother's house and watching
Olympics on that gigantic box TV everyone used to have,
and we would be watching diving like and I thought
I'd get into diving more this year. But it's like
it almost in America.

Speaker 5 (30:51):
If the America is not good at it, it is
not a sport that we recognize as being played.

Speaker 3 (30:56):
I think most of the time, what's next? God?

Speaker 2 (30:58):
Phil?

Speaker 3 (30:58):
Up next?

Speaker 7 (30:59):
Phil?

Speaker 3 (31:00):
Phil? Hey love the programming has Listen?

Speaker 14 (31:03):
The interlocking UK is eight hundred percent better than that
stupid power K.

Speaker 3 (31:08):
We are UK, we are not K. Get rid of
the K. Quit living that dream. So you hate the
power K. I hate it, man, and I grew up
on the power K. But it's just.

Speaker 4 (31:22):
K.

Speaker 5 (31:23):
I want us to do like I want more of it.
I like the power K, but how about that interesting?
I appreciate the call you pro UK or POWERCAS.

Speaker 6 (31:31):
Somewhere Freddy Magger just fell out of his chair because
that you're you're hitting him hard talking about not liking
the power K.

Speaker 7 (31:37):
I had this written down is when someone wrote the
power K is a relic of an arrow when UK
football was awful and the baseball team was the worst
program in the SEC. The basketball team never wore it.

Speaker 5 (31:48):
The basketball team never wore what the interesting? I didn't
realize that the basketball team.

Speaker 7 (31:53):
I'm pro POWERK myself.

Speaker 3 (31:54):
You know, why do you think they don't ever do
it again?

Speaker 5 (31:59):
I had somebody tell me they're worried, and like three
people stand next to each other and you get a picture.

Speaker 7 (32:05):
I would seem a little extreme of a reason not
to do it.

Speaker 2 (32:08):
Uh, I don't know.

Speaker 7 (32:09):
I wish they would.

Speaker 5 (32:10):
I mean, but you could see it like you don't
want to have on the football field. They happen to
just be standing next to each other, and you got
that like maybe that's what it is.

Speaker 3 (32:19):
You think that's what it is. I don't know.

Speaker 7 (32:21):
I'd be a pretty random occurrence. I get it could happen,
but that wouldn't keep me from having it.

Speaker 6 (32:26):
I could see those Some people UK be very worried
about that it's being exposed.

Speaker 5 (32:31):
And one person writes, Matt, I wish you had told
us about the basketball hiring during it, I think people
would have had a different reaction to Pope. Well, first
of all, I didn't find out about it until after
he was hired. Like I again, you want to go
back to the night they announced that on th on
a Thursday night, right?

Speaker 3 (32:51):
Is that right?

Speaker 5 (32:51):
Can they announced it on a Thursday night Thursday day.
I didn't say this publicly, but if you had asked
me privately where the momentum was as to who was
going to be higher, I would have told you Bruce Pearl,
because I think there were a lot of people that.

Speaker 3 (33:10):
Were really interested in.

Speaker 5 (33:11):
What I didn't know is Mitch was not allowed to
talk to and I just at the time didn't know that.
But I would have thought if you had seen me
and you were my friend on a Thursday at two o'clock,
I would have told you. I think the most likely
coaches Bruce Pearl, But I didn't know Drew.

Speaker 3 (33:30):
They couldn't talk to to to him.

Speaker 7 (33:31):
So I think the week after, though you mentioned the
names that they weren't allowed to call.

Speaker 3 (33:35):
I did before, but in the midst of it, I
just didn't know Who's next?

Speaker 2 (33:41):
Scott is up next?

Speaker 3 (33:43):
Scott? What do you got?

Speaker 10 (33:44):
Unpopular mine is I think we got a boo big Eve.

Speaker 4 (33:49):
Uh.

Speaker 10 (33:49):
We fought as a fan group of kidding, put me
under our wings, got billboards, and he turns back on it.

Speaker 3 (33:56):
Bo Big Eve unpopular opinion, Boo big Z.

Speaker 5 (34:00):
I appreciate the call because, well, they didn't work hard
to get him eligible.

Speaker 3 (34:05):
I hear it.

Speaker 7 (34:05):
But at the same time, YE know he's in a
new country. Cal got him here even though be being
helped get him eligible. I completely get way followed, Cal,
you better be allowed to shoot threes though, or we're
going to get him out of Arkansas and saving him again,
free big big Z again.

Speaker 3 (34:20):
I kind of feel like I'm too old.

Speaker 5 (34:24):
Now to boo kids college kids, Like I don't think.

Speaker 3 (34:29):
I'm too old to boo adults.

Speaker 5 (34:32):
I'll boo a pro, I'll boo a coach, but I
feel too old to boo a college kids.

Speaker 3 (34:38):
I don't know that I've ever really done that.

Speaker 5 (34:40):
But if I just like if I saw Marshall Henderson
or Joe Kim Noah, I just even I just don't
know that I could boo him.

Speaker 7 (34:48):
What about running out as a group. It's a Louisville
coming into rupt. You're just booing that Louisville, not a.

Speaker 5 (34:54):
Specifical boo a team, but an individual player.

Speaker 3 (34:58):
I just RYAN don't. I just I don't know that
I could do that.

Speaker 2 (35:01):
I think most of us.

Speaker 6 (35:02):
You don't fault big Z for wanting to go play
for Cal. Cow is the one that helped him get here,
helped him get eligible. I think he feels very close
to Cal. I don't fault him for one to play
for Cow.

Speaker 3 (35:12):
Would you boo a woman's team?

Speaker 2 (35:15):
Oh, I don't think I could.

Speaker 5 (35:16):
I don't think I could either Louis See. I don't
even think I could boo Louisvilles. I would boo Jeff Walls.
I don't like a boo the women's team there just
may be too much like Mountain in me. I don't
know that I could. I don't even know if I
could boo a woman. I don't think I could boo
Kim Maulky. Yeah, I don't like. I don't even like.

(35:38):
I don't know if I could boo like Marjorie Taylor Green.

Speaker 6 (35:41):
Would you boo the girl that bulled over Caitlyn Clark?
You know, so they do something egregious like that.

Speaker 7 (35:48):
And what if you're booing an action like you're just
just disproving of what they someone An action is different,
but you're talking about when when, like say, somebody cut
your favorite player's legs out from underneath him, you're booing
the act. Maybe not necessarily.

Speaker 3 (36:01):
I don't know. I'm not sure.

Speaker 5 (36:02):
I'm not sure that I could question to a woman.
I mean maybe, but it would have to be a
very unique circumstance. Tell me about Stockamorg Stockton Mortgage.

Speaker 6 (36:11):
You shopping for a new home. Well, guess what defining declining?
Inflation rates finally going down a little bit, and the
interest rates finally just kind of going down a little bit.
See a lot more buyers out there. Stockor Mortgage is
here to help you. So if you're shopping, you need
someone knowledgeable and trustworth that you can partner with.

Speaker 2 (36:27):
Talk to the team at Stockton Mortgage.

Speaker 6 (36:28):
You want to go into this homecoming, this home buying
season with a prequalification letter in hand.

Speaker 2 (36:32):
Stock to Mortgage. You can get pre qualified in about
twenty four hours.

Speaker 3 (36:35):
Hey there's our girl. Sorry, go ahead, Raygon, What is
really good story? Ray Gun? Oh, they're just showing her.
They're showing her dancing there. Yeah, wait at that. Look
at those moves.

Speaker 7 (36:47):
She's just getting started with her break dancing.

Speaker 3 (36:49):
Come on, now, those are moves.

Speaker 6 (36:51):
She should blow up from this.

Speaker 3 (36:55):
I love what she lays on the ground.

Speaker 5 (36:59):
And just like, did you see they asked the Australian
Prime Minister about her and he goes, well, she gave
it a go.

Speaker 7 (37:07):
She gave it a gosad, what do you want from us?

Speaker 2 (37:09):
She competed at the best she knows how what she
gave it a go.

Speaker 3 (37:12):
We'll take a break very back.

Speaker 5 (37:13):
This is Kaazon, Welcome back Kentucky Sports Radio final segment.
Here an unpopular Opinion Day segment. Sponts are by Club Blue.

Speaker 7 (37:22):
Listen.

Speaker 5 (37:22):
If you're not a Club Blue member yet, you need
to get on it. The basketball and UK sports Nil.
Let me give you some events they're having it. They're
having some big events. They're having a tailgate party before
the UK Georgia game where the UK men's basketball team,
coaches and guests will be in attendance.

Speaker 3 (37:39):
Cool.

Speaker 5 (37:39):
So for the Georgia game, if you are a Club
Blue member, you can meet the UK basketball team and
coaches in a pregame tailgate.

Speaker 9 (37:47):
Cool.

Speaker 5 (37:47):
They are also doing a men's basketball cookout in Hazard
really August twenty third at seven pm. The men's basketball
team is part of them at least is coming to
a men's basket ball.

Speaker 3 (38:00):
Cookout in Hazard in Hazard.

Speaker 5 (38:03):
So you go to Club BLUEIL dot com and you
will be able to go to any of these events,
the tailgate on the fourteenth or the cookout on the
on August twenty third, and they have discounted tickets for
the men's and women's Blue White game coming as well
at Memorial Coliseum. So this is all Club BLUEIL dot

(38:27):
com twenty five bucks a month for the lowest membership.
There are others, great chance to meet the team. I
didn't know those two things were going on in all right.
So we got some more people on. I want to
get some more unpopular opinions before we finish.

Speaker 3 (38:39):
Who's next, Brian? Brian, what's your unpopular opinion?

Speaker 14 (38:43):
Hey, guys, I think we should have helmet stickers like
Florida State and Ohio State. I think that we should
bring them back and I think it would really make
them look good. And I also think we should play
Johnny Cash by Kid Rock at the games.

Speaker 5 (38:55):
Now I'm not playing anything by Kid Rock, so besides that,
I actually agree. I like the idea of the little
stickers where you reward guys for things.

Speaker 3 (39:03):
I think UK should do that. Did we have we
done in the past?

Speaker 7 (39:07):
I think Freddy's team talked about him how they were
good stickers.

Speaker 2 (39:10):
Yeah, I don't know. I think they did it.

Speaker 3 (39:12):
I think that would be cool, don't you.

Speaker 5 (39:13):
I've always thought that was cool when Ohio State did those,
and I like.

Speaker 2 (39:17):
I'm on board with that.

Speaker 3 (39:19):
Yeah, I'm pro. I'm pro that pro sticker. I think
that would be really good. What's next? Cody is next? Cody?

Speaker 15 (39:25):
Go ahead, Cody, hey man, what's going on?

Speaker 3 (39:29):
Guys?

Speaker 15 (39:29):
I've got a pretty controversial one. But Michael Beasley is
the most talented freshman that has ever played college basketball,
and he had the greatest individual single season in college
basketball history for a freshman.

Speaker 5 (39:43):
I don't know if it was the greatest, but Michael
Beasley's year at Kansas State was pretty amazing. The team
was terrible and he was great and he made them competitive.
And you look at his numbers, they're like off the charts.
It's kind of like Kevin Durant at Texas. People don't
realize how great that he was because that team wasn't
very good.

Speaker 3 (40:02):
But Drew Michael Beasley. That's not a ridiculous call.

Speaker 7 (40:06):
No, I just looked up the average twenty six and
thirteen as a freshman.

Speaker 5 (40:09):
Wow, I mean twenty six points a game in college
as a freshman.

Speaker 3 (40:15):
That's really unbelievable.

Speaker 6 (40:16):
Ryan, Yeah, you could get all the other guys, Durant, Carmelo,
Anthony carl We think of.

Speaker 5 (40:23):
Carmel having great freshman year because they won the title,
but Durant and Beasley were on bad teams.

Speaker 3 (40:28):
It did uh huh, you know which I think it
makes it even.

Speaker 7 (40:31):
And who really knows anything about Kansas State basketball other
than a few run ins we've had with him, But
I mean he kind of is what you think of.

Speaker 5 (40:37):
Who's the best UK freshman in history that played on
a bad team Netherlands, But that's kind of injury related. Yeah,
they weren't bad until he got hurt though. Jamal Murray
jama is getting ready to say Jamal Murray. Yeah, might
be Jamal Murray. And they weren't terrible, but Jamal Murray
was Jamal might go look at Jamal Murray's stats sometime.

Speaker 3 (40:58):
Oh yeah, they were really.

Speaker 5 (40:59):
Really good and we kind of don't always think about
it because they lost to Indiana in the second round year.

Speaker 3 (41:05):
What's next?

Speaker 2 (41:06):
Casey?

Speaker 3 (41:06):
Is next? Casey? Real quick?

Speaker 14 (41:09):
Hate failers.

Speaker 12 (41:10):
So you know how they say that you shouldn't speak
ill of the dead, I think that's the perfect time
to talk about somebody because they're dead and.

Speaker 3 (41:17):
Won't hear you.

Speaker 9 (41:19):
So I think that it's the opposite.

Speaker 10 (41:21):
I think be timing at me flat with mom.

Speaker 7 (41:23):
Here what an opinion?

Speaker 3 (41:25):
Wow?

Speaker 5 (41:26):
Okay, See your belief is, rather than don't speak ill
of the dead, that is the best time to speak
ill of them because they won't.

Speaker 10 (41:34):
Hear it exactly, you know.

Speaker 3 (41:37):
Fair. I appreciate the call.

Speaker 5 (41:40):
I've always been one to say don't speak ill of
people when they die. But we say that you should
say nice things about people while they're alive so they
could hear it. So maybe it actually is nicer to
say mean things when they're dead and can't hear it.

Speaker 7 (41:57):
So she's saying, give them their flowers while they're here,
but dig their flowers up as soon as they're gone
and get rid of the flowers.

Speaker 3 (42:03):
That's not a crazy opinion, it's nice. I'd never thought
about it like that.

Speaker 5 (42:09):
I always say, when somebody dies, I give them forty
eight hours like forty eight hours where I don't care
who you are. You can't say something nice, don't say
anything else. Casey's view is the moment they die, you're grieving.

Speaker 3 (42:25):
Good.

Speaker 5 (42:26):
I really enjoyed this. Well done by everybody today. Congrats
to my Paris High School graduates right here, and thank
you all very much.

Speaker 3 (42:34):
