Welcome to our two of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by
Stockton Mortgage. Now here's Matt Jones.

Speaker 4 (01:06):
Welcome back, Tukey Sports Radio A five nine two eight
oh twenty two eighty seven, text machine seven seven two
seven seven four five two five four. I'm about to
read you something that's going to blow your mind. I'm
ready right. First of all, Virgie beat Middlesborough seventy three
seventy one. That was clearly a home court advantage. But
I'm gonna read you about Ig andok this is from

(01:27):
the Bell County Historical Society. Shannon, Okay, I didn't think
this was coming on the show today. This is the
Bell County Historical Society. Right. This is not just some guy.

Speaker 5 (01:38):
This is not off the internet.

Speaker 4 (01:39):
This is official record. This is from the historical side.
Clyde IgG Fuson and Herschel Ugg Fuson were two of
Middlesborough's biggest heroes. I remember this part. They grew up
in a time of great depression and were as World
War two and fought in the war fault it looks
like fought in World War two. Egg was one year
older than Uh. Both nicknames Eg and Ug were given

(02:04):
by their older sister when their two boys were young.
Clyde's name IgG was shortened by his sister for ignorant
and Herschel's name Ugg was shortened for ugly, typical.

Speaker 5 (02:19):
Older sister call her little brothers.

Speaker 4 (02:22):
So the sister Shannon called them EG and UG for
ignorant and ugly, and it stuck with them their whole lives.

Speaker 6 (02:30):
They just embraced the name, and when they were.

Speaker 4 (02:33):
In World War Two, their comrades would also call them
IgG and UG. The fellow soldiers.

Speaker 6 (02:40):
Came before ugly.

Speaker 4 (02:42):
Right, it's unbelievable. First of all, what's the sister doing?

Speaker 7 (02:46):
I gotta say, if anyone is allowed to do it,
I think an older sister's.

Speaker 4 (02:50):
The one that can get away with Apparently who said
in jest and love? They each won All State football
three times during their high school career, and the m
HS High school cheerleading team had this chant for IgG.
He's a peach, he's a dream, he's the captain of

(03:11):
our team. We need more cheers like that. Do you think,
Drew like what I think that would be? I might
try that at the tailgates. Do you think that if
we can get the UK cheerleaders and and uh, they
could chant that about Jackson Robbins. He's a peach, he's
a dream, he's the captain of our team do it

(03:31):
this weekend for brock Vander. If he's a Georgia Peach,
he's George Peach. How about that. You think we can
get the stadium chanting he's a peach, he's a dream.

Speaker 6 (03:41):
Probably not.

Speaker 3 (03:42):
Do you think that maybe Tom Leach can work it
into the broadcast?

Speaker 4 (03:45):
I think so, Tom Hard. Tom Hart's at the game Saturday.
Can we get in the game on Saturday?

Speaker 7 (03:55):
Perfect, We're getting he's a peach on a big pay.

Speaker 4 (03:59):
Very Jordan Rodgers is gonna say, what are you talking?
What are you talking about? Are very Unfortunately? Thank you
for the history lesson there that that was Bill who
who sent me in the thing? All right, Kentucky has
a new basketball player. By the way, we saw him yesterday.
I was like, who's that guy? And Drew, to his credit, goes,

(04:19):
I think that guy's from Madisonville from across the gym.
He did, And I said, there's no you're just saying that,
like you're just saying like he's from of course, not
from Madisonville. Well, he is from Madisonville. Is remember they
had a tryout for the students. Yes, the winner of
the tryout was Zachary Toe. He's from that what spells
like toe, But they say too, how do you know that?

Speaker 5 (04:41):
It's just kind of a common name in western Kentucky.

Speaker 4 (04:44):
It is Zachary Tao. Zachary Tale tried out. He is
now on the team. He's number twenty. Apparently. People said
he's got to like finish. He's on the team, but
not on the team yet. I don't know what that means.
But he was practicing with the team yesterday his own
number exact. Great, Yeah, he had a number, except he
wasn't on the roster, which I thought, you know, how

(05:04):
were we supposed to know who that is? It's big
Z last year, still getting figured out a little bit,
so Zachary Tale from Madisonville. He's the president of a fraternity.
His sister played softball at Alabama and was like three
time America, three time All May. Yeah, their brother's sister,
that's her. Since his sister, his sister sent me a
picture last night of him as a little kid sitting

(05:27):
in the stands cheering for Kentucky with the Kentucky shirt
with his big ears. Looked like me and drew as
a little kid. I thought that was really cool. Yeah,
he'd be I liked the ear so uh, I listen,
what is more Kentucky than having a try out at
the school and then a kid from Madisonville wins the
tryout and is on the team. How cool is that?

(05:47):
If this is a tradition that Mark Pope is going
to do every I love it.

Speaker 5 (05:50):
I love it. I'm all for it. We'll give one
Kentucky get a chance to walk on and be a
part of the team. How awesome is that?

Speaker 7 (05:56):
You know, I'm fired up. I know him a little bit.
He was on the You know, we don't get many
state tournament runs. Remember everybody came to the bar that year.
He was on that team. One of the first and
only games since nineteen eighty nine and the Sweet sixteen.
If I may brag for a minute, I went into
the Hopkins County Hall of Fame.

Speaker 4 (06:12):
I remember that, and Kaylee Tow was in my class.
Now my speech.

Speaker 7 (06:17):
I gave Zach a shout out for that run. So
got a little full circle. That's why I was so
excited to see me yesterday growing his hair out a
little bit. So I need a minute to know him,
but I'm thrilled to have a Maroon. And how about
Kentucky having two players from Region two on this team.

Speaker 4 (06:30):
It's amazing. Yeah, we got a two second region regioners
and a thirteenth regioner got the you know, full state
feeling there on the team, so I was very excited
for him.

Speaker 5 (06:41):
Yeah, thirteenth region last year with Reid. So both of
you guys, regions have been represented the last couple of years.

Speaker 4 (06:45):
Between me and you, it's just you and me talking. Okay,
we're not gonna work. This is because like you know,
we we we love our basketball team. But they now
have a lot of managers that are also kind of
practicing with the team. They basically divide into four teams. First,
second team, the kind of hybrid walk on a couple
of the players team, and then there's a manager team

(07:06):
and the manager team it looks to me like has
like four guys that can ball. And then there's a
guy that is now my favorite person associated with K basket. Okay, Shannon,
this dude has got to be thirty five years old.
Oh no, he's got a full beard. Yeah, he looks

(07:26):
just like JD. Man. Maybe it is. It might be.
I don't know whether he was on the campaign trail
yesterday or not. He looks just like Jdvn's he wears
like you know how older guys wear, like knee braces.
It's got like a lot of layers on, you know.

(07:46):
And when he plays, he gets really tired. And that
was the thing Drew and I noticed, like a couple
times up and down the court he's tired, and I've
decided he's my favorite, Like I had to keep watching him.
He's kind of a big guy. So he's fighting with
the Mary Williams and Garrison and he's holding his own
shit like he's huffing and he's fighting there. Oh, he

(08:09):
is fighting for his life out there, hanging on. And
I don't know who he is, but I'm a huge
fan of him. It's it basically looks like they are
making thirty five year old dreams happen by letting them
be on the court and fight with the UK bass.

Speaker 3 (08:26):
This wasn't like a fantasy thing or anything fantasy.

Speaker 4 (08:31):
You just get that, but I loved it.

Speaker 7 (08:35):
I nothing, I do anything athletic, but I feel much
older than I am.

Speaker 4 (08:39):
Like my back, I've got these knee things going on now.

Speaker 7 (08:41):
And when he ran a fast break drill and stopped
and immediately went for his lower back, and his knees.
I said, I know that person. This person is me
just carrying something up steps.

Speaker 4 (08:50):
That's right. He was doing that thing you do when
you play in the YMCA where you run really hard
till everybody's past you, and then you're like, all right,
nobody's looking. Then you just gotta chogg the rest of
the way. He would like stand at the three point
line and be like, all right, I'm opening up here
if anybody wants.

Speaker 3 (09:04):
Our guys, like, our starters are looking good against this
guy right, like they're on this.

Speaker 4 (09:09):
They do this thing where four teams, like they just
keep going up and down and up and down and
up and down the court, and it requires four teams
a guy. So he's on what he's on the manager
part of the team.

Speaker 6 (09:19):
He's not sitting any records though, going up and down
that floor.

Speaker 7 (09:22):
Yeah, if you would go to a cow practice, not
many people there and the team was the team Pope
seems to.

Speaker 4 (09:27):
Have a minisi players, million people there. There's yeah, I
don't I guess the rules have changed where more coaches
and stuff can be on the floor because there's a
million people on the floor. But it was it was.

Speaker 5 (09:37):
Good at at the quarter break is he's sneaking outside
the smoke of heat.

Speaker 4 (09:42):
Yeah, here's who's up next?

Speaker 6 (09:49):
Poe?

Speaker 4 (09:50):
How are you po?

Speaker 8 (09:52):
I'm doing guys good?

Speaker 4 (09:55):
What's up?

Speaker 8 (09:59):
Spent a lot of time in Kentucky where they teach
you fundamentals and they could ball like Prince is just incognito.

Speaker 4 (10:08):
Yet maybe so I don't know if he's a good
athlete or not. The vance guy. But this guy's living
our dream, Poe, very jealousy.

Speaker 8 (10:16):
But about cal Man, I know you don't take it
seriously these trolls anyway, because you're You're right. I was
ready for cal to go myself and the BBN, I
think three or four years ago. And I think my
question is I think they should have got Pearl when
they got Cow to start with, Pearl didn't interview with

(10:41):
I'm still not straight on have come Pearl couldn't interview
with Kentucky on this?

Speaker 4 (10:45):
Are you talking about this time? Are you talking about
this time? So so again you have to go back
to the timing of how it all played out. But
the but, the but the the basic reason is I
think Pearl was one of kind of the final the
final candidates, and then I think Eli Cappeluto and maybe

(11:08):
uh some folks on the board of trustees said that
that that Mitch would not be able to uh consider him.
And I think the reason was his history with the
n c a A and you know, maybe also some
of the stuff we've seen in the last few months
where he's decided to be very vocal about his political beliefs.
Maybe UK didn't want that. I don't know that that

(11:30):
was part of it, but I think there was a
sense of they kind of wanted to have somebody that
was like an all in team person and the and
I think maybe Capeluto didn't necessarily feel like uh Pearl
Pearl was.

Speaker 8 (11:41):
That Okay, Well go Pope. I'm I'm happy for him
and uh and I feel good about this team. We're
gonna get some Biel movement for not just stand around
drib Yeah.

Speaker 4 (11:54):
No, you're gonna you'll see a lot of ball not
battel movement uh during the time. So hopefully maybe you'll
see both. I don't know, but you will definitely see
the ball movement. So thank you, Poe. I appreciate if
you for those of you that wanted ball movement, you
don't have to worry about it.

Speaker 5 (12:09):
You're gonna get a lot a lot of that now.

Speaker 4 (12:11):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (12:11):
I think about Pearl the first time around, it was
just fresh off him getting in trouble with the NCAAA,
and so that's why Mitch Marnes stayed way away from
that first time around.

Speaker 4 (12:19):
For sure. I think if they if he hadn't gotten
that mandate from on high, I think Pearl would have
been interviewed and who knows, might have been the coach.
But I think as it all played out, I think
it worked out the way it should have. Do you
agree with that? Yeah?

Speaker 7 (12:36):
And yesterday, I know we've all seen it interviews and
other stuff, but it's just so clear Pope's love and
appreciate that.

Speaker 4 (12:42):
Dude is so happy to be here and care so much.

Speaker 7 (12:44):
I'm switching thoughts here for a second, but I even
noticed yesterday they've changed. Did you see the team of
perrel says Kentucky's team on the front. It doesn't say
like it's that same font.

Speaker 4 (12:54):
It doesn't.

Speaker 7 (12:55):
It doesn't say Kentucky, says Kentucky's team. That's just kind
of example of how this is working out with Pope.
We didn't know, oh that he would bring all this
Maslagy in this Kentucky connection back the way that he has.
But now that we're seeing it and seeing more of
it last night, it feels like the perfect guy for
the job to totally agree with that.

Speaker 4 (13:10):
Who's next, Kentucky Cat, Kentucky Cat eight five nine two
eight twenty two eighty seven, Go ahead, morning fellas, Morning, Morning, Morning, morning.

Speaker 9 (13:18):
My pose is to a guy that called earlier like him,
really chap my backside. You know what, I don't run
himself out of this program. He was a good adbassador
for us. He went around, you know, he done things,
raised money, he gave the interviews, and that's the end.
Last four or five years, he was a sore ass loser.
Ill sorry about that. He you know, he wouldn't talk

(13:39):
to the people, the media afterwards and stuff.

Speaker 4 (13:41):
He run himself out.

Speaker 9 (13:43):
I never thought I'd take up for you, Matt, but
today I am. I'm glad to be a Kentucky fan.

Speaker 4 (13:48):
I'm glad we got Pope.

Speaker 9 (13:49):
He recruised in in state recruits heavily. And you know
that guy just eacho down our set on the bench
and lose the first round again with NCAA with Arkansas
and leave us alone.

Speaker 4 (14:00):
Play the hell out of Kentucky. There you go. I
appreciate the call. Wow, I like that. That's my Kentucky
whiskey thief with whiskey thief call the day. Shout out
to whiskey thief. By the way, those of you coming
in from the Bourbon trail include the whiskey thief. You
get to take that thing and do the what do
you call it, the whiskey thief. That's what it's called.

(14:21):
That's called it's called the whiskey thief, and like put
it in your barrel and get it out. Yeah, big things.
I think they have a better explanation of that than
I just give. Okay, but you know what's scary, Drew,
When you don't know where your meat comes from. Yes, well,
when you shop at a big box store, you don't
know where that cow was raised. No, But at no
Chaylend of Farms, their beef is locally grown. You know,

(14:41):
it's Kentucky beef, hand fed, no steroids, no hormones, no
hose ach and Seko's out there real beef for twenty
They drives it for twenty four hours and get it
to you. It's a Kentucky prow partner. And if you
get shipping, you can get it usually the next day.
It's pretty quick. It's so good. No Jay Linda Farms
dot n O c ch Elendafarms dot com get the

(15:03):
best beef at the highest quality and it's from Kentucky.
You call eight five nine seven oh seven, seven thousand
and four or no, che Linda Farms uh dot com.
We'll take a break of be right back here at Kspark. Yeah.
Blame it on the rain or Matt Jones, whichever one
you want. A nine to twenty two eighty seven. Uh.

(15:24):
Have you watched any of the Did you watch the
Menindez Brothers show? Yeah? That was all of my flights
on vacation watching those episodes. Yeah, I didn't. I've only
seen the first episode, but I'm amazed how much of
it is their love of Milli Vanilli, which I found
to be kind of that was a throwback a little bit. Uh. Yeah,
you know. I apparently they're putting out a documentary like
next week that gives kind of the the other side

(15:45):
of it. I guess, so, I guess. You know, it's
funny that's that was thirty thirty years ago now thirty
what thirty five years ago? And Uh, people forget it
was kind of like the first big trial and then
it got sort of overshadowed by Ojay and kind of
went out of the headlines.

Speaker 7 (16:03):
They gotta go into that a lot, like getting their
hair right and I gotta look good. This is the
first tear trial that's been you know, broadcasts all across
the country. I normally hate reenactments like that, but I
think it's pretty well done.

Speaker 4 (16:14):
Yeah, I haven't seen I've seen that first episode, but there.

Speaker 5 (16:16):
Are there are a lot of scenes where they apparently
the actors do exactly and say exactly what they said
on the stand in the courtroom and stuff like they
move and they things they do or they wanted it
to be exactly the way it was.

Speaker 4 (16:27):
Yeah, one person rights. Matt not trying to be antagonistic,
but anybody want to guess whether not the next thing
is antagonistic. But can you explain how Cali Perry is
saying you got him fired is different than you saying
Amy McGrath or Mitch McConnell got you taken off television
or radio. Neither of those people had the authority to

(16:50):
take you off. Fair point, you make the decision. I
went on to radio and said, you know what, we
shouldn't lose to Oakland. Amy McGrath's campaign manager called my
boss at Channel eighteen and said, if you all don't
take Matt off the air, we will not spend money

(17:12):
with you in the campaign, a campaign where she had
ungodly amounts of money, and he that's not me alleging it.
He bragged about it in an interview that he did.
You can go go look at it. Mitch McConnell got
the Republican Party to file an FEC complaint against me

(17:32):
for being on the radio that by law I heart
if they put me back on, would owe triple damages
if they were found to have violated it. And McConnell
had the commission to where they didn't have a quorum
so they couldn't meet to decide it. So I was stuck.
So in both cases that wasn't It wasn't like Amy

(17:53):
McGrath went on TV and said I wish Matt Jones
wasn't on TV. Her people literally called my ball. And
in Mitch McConnell's case, he used the federal government to
try to well too, get me off the ear. So
I don't think that's quite the same thing as going,
can we beat Saint peter'ss somebody guard going in a

(18:14):
basketball game?

Speaker 5 (18:16):
I can verify everything you just said factual. Guess they
called Channel eighteen starting to pull all their adveratars and
to pull.

Speaker 4 (18:24):
All of their advertise, which would end up being millions
of dollars.

Speaker 5 (18:28):
They make a lot of money during the political season
on advertising and so yeah, so I.

Speaker 4 (18:33):
No, I do not believe those are are the same things.
Who's up next, Gil, Gail? Go ahead, Gail.

Speaker 10 (18:44):
I want to say Mario did a fantastic job on
his video of the Pro Days. That was really nicely done.

Speaker 4 (18:51):
Well, I will tell him you said that. Thank you, Gail.
She liked your video. Monks, Mario, hurry.

Speaker 10 (18:59):
My second thing is cow always, whenever there was a
crisis or a disaster, was one of the first to
start to go fund me or a donation link to
help the crisis victims. Pope hasn't done a thing. Now,

(19:19):
the football team did a Samaritan's Person donation link. Pope
hasn't done anything.

Speaker 4 (19:28):
Yeah. Well, first of all, I think the university is
doing it through the football team because the football season
is going on right now. I would say to you Gail,
and I'd be careful saying Mark Pope hasn't done anything,
because to be fair, Gail, you might not know what
he's done, right like he maybe he did he's done

(19:50):
something personally and we don't know. And as far as
like raising it in a public manner, I think because
it's basketball season and in past times it has been
excuse me, because it's football season. In past times, because
it's been basketball season, I think the uk UK is
using its efforts through the football team.

Speaker 10 (20:14):
Well, I would think it would be a joint venture.

Speaker 4 (20:16):
Well, I'm sure it is, And I would make a bet.
I don't know this, but I would make a bet
that at some point during the next week, when you
have big blue madness and you have a lot of
attention in basketball, I think you will see the basketball
folks push people in that direction as well. I hope.
So all right, I appreciate it, Gail.

Speaker 10 (20:38):
There you go, Okay, thank you.

Speaker 5 (20:40):
Well, And we said that in manytime. That was one
thing that coach cal was really really good at. It's
raising money. But you know, the situation out in Florida
is going to be awful next couple of days, and
I fully expect the University of Kentucky to help. They'll
step up and do some sort of relief fun for
all of our brother and that be infected by it.

Speaker 4 (20:56):
What I told you I was hearing yesterday is now official.
Rick Patino will be at the UK football game on Saturday.
All right, So let's let's discuss this for a second.
First of all, if he's there on Saturday, big Blue
Madness Friday night, I'm not saying, I'm just saying I
think there's probably a pretty good chance he shows his
face at that. But put that to the side. Let's

(21:19):
say you're in charge of UK Athletics, Rick Patino's at
the game Saturday. You bring him out on the field.

Speaker 5 (21:27):
Maybe you have to see how his introduction goes at
Madness first.

Speaker 4 (21:30):
And if it's let's just assume he only comes to
the football game so you don't get a chance to
find out. I say, no, I don't even think they
really recognize I say, would you No, I would, I would,
And you know no, But I'm never I mean who
I went to his trial? Who would be a bigger
I mean, we haven't. I haven't had I don't know

(21:52):
if there's anybody I've ever been a bigger critic critic
of so.

Speaker 5 (21:55):
One of those. In the end song, Christy Thomas introduces
him in a quarter break something like that, if Tubby
Smith was there, they would absolutely do it.

Speaker 4 (22:02):
If Joeby Hall had been there, do it. If Mark
Pope's there, do it? Rick Patino? At this point, after
all this time, why not.

Speaker 7 (22:15):
Do they do it for those people? I know when
they've been looking at the Hall of Fame, I just
don't remember them.

Speaker 4 (22:19):
Do they bring people out all all the breaks? They'll
bring former players out or basketball players or Sidney McLaughlan
or whatever. I mean, you do it? Okay, So do
you do it?

Speaker 5 (22:31):
Not just by himself, but maybe you have him and
Pope both out there at the same.

Speaker 4 (22:34):
Time, so that I mean you might do that to
make sure. First of all, let's say they brought him out.
Let's leave the because if Pope's out there too, everybody's
gonna clap. Yeah. Here's my question. I want to ask this.
Going to the break, use the text machine seven seven
two seven seven four five two five for you're at
the UK football game, they introduced former University of Kentucky
basketball coach Rick Patino. Good idea, bad idea, Yes, no,

(23:00):
that's simple. And then would you clap yes or no?
Seven seven two seven seven four five two five for it?
During this break, I'll tell it up and I'll see
what percentage is. Yes, I think the percentage is going well,
think in your head of what the percentage will be.

Speaker 7 (23:15):
I'm thinking in my head of the people drinking all
day and having that opportunity they've been waiting for.

Speaker 4 (23:20):
Let me just ask you, just the folks in here,
how many of you would say yes, do it? Okay?
How many of you would say no? One for are
you a Kentucky fan? Okay? So there you go. We'll
be right back. TJ. Smith, personal injury attorney called TJ.
He'll make them pay.

Speaker 3 (23:38):
Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.

Speaker 6 (23:41):
Here's Matt Jones.

Speaker 4 (23:43):
Welcome back Turkey Sports Radio. All right, I would guess
so in in this place, numbers were very similar. I'm
guessing seven out of eight yes. So, but now there
are some emphatic no people, but I'm getting but most people,
it seems like seven out of eight yes. Uh, there's
no way they're bringing him to the game and they're

(24:05):
not gonna do so. Like, first of all, somebody reminded
me he's a football donor.

Speaker 5 (24:11):
Yes, he is admitted it.

Speaker 4 (24:14):
You know. So maybe he's being.

Speaker 5 (24:16):
Invited with some of the ninety six guys. Maybe it's
a team thing and he walks out with him.

Speaker 4 (24:20):
Maybe. All right, let's do let's let's be let's break
it down just intellectually. Why would someone still dislike Rick today?
I can tell you why I disliked him when he
was at Louisville. I could give you ten reasons. But today,
what is the reason to dislike it?

Speaker 6 (24:39):
Somebody get Marcia on the phone. She'll tell you.

Speaker 4 (24:41):
Marcia, Well, Marcia could make the case. You're right.

Speaker 7 (24:43):
I'll start with the gigantic Louisville Cardinals tattoo on his back.

Speaker 5 (24:47):
Okay, the last time he was here, he flipped all
of us off.

Speaker 4 (24:50):
Okay, those are too big ones. No I'm not. I'm
just I'm laying them out because there's a case for
for for not booeting, and then there's a case for
booing y. So the case or for a case for
not liking him, it's that he flipped us off. It's
that he that he was a Cardinals coach. He has

(25:11):
a tattoo et cetera. All right, so anything else, any
other reason for the negative, but his. I guess someone
would say morality, like the various stuff that happened there,
although most of the people who say morality chances aren't
there somebody you really like it either, the same morality
issues on the other side. All right, what's the case

(25:34):
for liking it? For saying, yes, he's clearly re expressed
love for this place, Yes, right, I mean he's clearly
he's not apologized for any of those things, like the
flip off and all that, but he clearly loves his place.
It ain't hard to see he loves us more than

(25:55):
he loves Louisville. That's very cool. I mean, let's be real.
He won I mean, the wible people got a little
be losing to mind. Right, He's in the middle of
a season and he's leaving Saint John's to come here.
He also helped bring Mark Pope into this fold with

(26:18):
that video. Right then you add the history when he
was here nineties Kentucky basketball was the first step in
making this program transition from kind of your grandfather's program
to a program for the modern era that went into
full fledged with cal but Rick was certainly the first

(26:40):
part of that. I mean, I think, and I'm a
big believer if you listen this show in Forgiveness over time,
it's been he left here in nineteen ninety seven. I mean,
it's going on thirty years. He's been out of Louisville
for at least what the year did he go away?

(27:03):
Eighteen nineteen, So it's been five or six years since
he's been at Louisville. Ryan, I you know I to
the extent anyone knows me nationally. It probably started by
me criticizing that dude and laughing at the things that
were happening at that trial. Even I say, at some point,
you know what, let Bygones be.

Speaker 5 (27:25):
Back, because, like you said, he obviously loves our coach.
He obviously wants Mark Pope to succeed. He wants Kentucky
to succeed now because one of his guys is leading
our program. So yeah, I know the tide has turned
a lot, and people now more in favor of him
and would applause. There's still gonna be dudes that'll boo.
I think at the football game, if they introduce there'll
be some people.

Speaker 4 (27:45):
There'll be some people because I see seven out of
eight on the text machine. But there are some of
the of the eighth ones going I will boo him.

Speaker 7 (27:54):
Yeah, yeah, I put on chasboard. There's some people just
waiting to boo now some majority ready. That was why
I voted no. Just with Kentucky having such a big
football game, why even have that distraction? Now if you
brought him out with Pope and other members of that
team and he's holding the trophy at that point, it's
more of an acknowledgment of nineteen ninety six than just
look Rick Patino's here.

Speaker 4 (28:14):
If that makes sense, Chaton, what about you?

Speaker 6 (28:16):
I'm okay with it. I'm with you, Matt.

Speaker 3 (28:18):
I think you know at some point you got to
move on. And like you said, he still loves Kentucky,
and I think that if he had the chance, he
maybe he probably would have taken that job to come
back to Kentucky if they offered it to him.

Speaker 4 (28:32):
I mean, look, I understand to some extent, I'm weird.
We've talked about, like maybe a lot of extents, I'm weird,
but like one thing, I'm different than most people, Like
I'm still friends with everyone, I've been in a serious relationship,
but like like I still I still interact with all
of them and still have like positive feelings. I you know,

(28:55):
I one of the cool things for me, and Andrew
knows this is for a long time, you know, there
was a period of time where there was some tension
between me and TJ. Bisener, and when he left, we've
been kind of able to reconnect. And that's been a
really neat thing for me because I shared so much

(29:17):
of building the website with him, and now, you know,
he and I have kind of been able to be
back and be friends and like that that's important to me.
Like Rick's a huge part of our history, you know,
like Ri's a huge part of our history, and he
was the coach of the best team to ever be here,
and on some level, like we we should we should

(29:39):
appreciate that. Oh, I hear you.

Speaker 7 (29:41):
I think nineteen ninety six was the best year in
the history of human civilization, and Rick Pettino was a big.

Speaker 5 (29:47):
Part of that.

Speaker 7 (29:49):
Loved everyone has fond memories that nostalgia. I just don't
need it. The moment Pope is back to okay, like here,
I am, I get it.

Speaker 5 (29:57):
I get that maybe this is just the way we
kind of we tiptoe in to it. We get introduced
him with the whole team, tiptoe into it, because in
twenty twenty six, if he comes back that thirty year
reunion game, that's when maybe.

Speaker 4 (30:08):
And then there's the petty part. Channons. The petty part
is that would really make somebody mad down the road.
Oh yeah, I mean, well, actually make two groups of
people mad, make the people sixty five miles down the
road mad. It makes somebody in the Tyson Chickens territory

(30:28):
pretty bad. I mean, let's just be real. Those would
have two very strong reactions. Who's next, Marcia? Marcia, Well,
I could tell I'll tell you, all right, Marsha, I
will give you the floor. We're in the kitchen, all right.

Speaker 11 (30:44):
And I agree with Drew's summations there. I do not
agree with Shannon that he loves Kentucky. He loves what
Kentucky did for him. I agree that, and we appreciate
what he did while he was here. But do you
want your program associated with what he has to come?

Speaker 4 (31:09):
I mean, I don't disagree. Well, I don't disagree with
with some of that. I would say this, Marsha, if
we're being honest and I'm not talking about you here,
I'm just talking about people in general. We all are
to some extent, like a person feel affinity for a

(31:29):
person that probably has some moral things that have happened
that are not the best. It's you know, oh, I
think it's very easy to cast stones and like I'm
not saying that there are I think there are lines
that you cross that are too much, but at its core,
at its core, let me put it like this. Do

(31:52):
I think ry Tito's a bad person because he cheated
at U of L? Not really, because most of the
stuff he did is probably legal. Now do I think
he's a bad person because he had that night at
the restaurant? He shouldn't have done that. But I think
there's a lot of people, unfortunately that have cheated on
their spouses. And I don't think we can hate everyone
that's ever done that. Marsha Oh, I.

Speaker 12 (32:15):
Don't hate nobody, but I have no respect for him
at all.

Speaker 11 (32:20):
He left here, fine, good, so long, but and Tuffy left.
Tuffy has never said one bad word about Kentucky.

Speaker 4 (32:30):
Pede is not.

Speaker 12 (32:32):
Rick has made his little jabs.

Speaker 10 (32:35):
Mart Elick remarks.

Speaker 12 (32:37):
Flipped us off. I've never heard an apology is I
love Mark Pope. I'm going to support Mark Pope, and
out of respect for Mark Pope, I will not boo Rick.

Speaker 11 (32:48):
Platino, but I don't want nothing to do with him.
He is still blaming Andre McGee. Andre McGee is a
person with.

Speaker 12 (32:56):
The family and Rick Petino will not take account of
ability for what went on at U about and he
was the head dog. It lies with him, So that's
why I have no respect for him. I think the
shoving Rick down our throat.

Speaker 11 (33:13):
A little too soon. Let us ease into it. That's
the way I feel about it.

Speaker 4 (33:18):
Appreciate the call. So there's the counterview of it. So
it'll be interesting to see he's coming Saturday. So the
first question is will he be introduced? The second question
is if he's introduced, is he introduced with Pope or
the ninety sixteen? And then the third question is if
he doesn't do anything, what happens like is he up
in the stands waving like it'll be Actually adds a

(33:40):
little more spice to the thing on Saturday, isn't it ruy?

Speaker 5 (33:43):
I The fact they've announced he's coming.

Speaker 4 (33:45):
Well they haven't announced. I heard he was coming last
week Adam Zegoria. I guess confirmed with Rick that he's coming.

Speaker 5 (33:53):
Well, it makes no sense at all. He's not gonna
be there Friday night for Mark Pope's first Madness.

Speaker 4 (33:58):
Yeah, I mean, let's also keen and he's coming in
for the hole. That's true. He's a big horse.

Speaker 7 (34:03):
And it would not shock me. Pope's first Madness. Pope
might be having a team reunion with all those guys
he be thrown together to kick off his first season,
which I would fully expect Rick Potino to be invited
and take part in that. It's just the him by himself.
Bringing him out I think is a bad idea.

Speaker 4 (34:18):
I've tried to have him on the show. I've been
rebuffed a couple of times that Rick.

Speaker 6 (34:24):
Yeah, he's been on the show.

Speaker 4 (34:25):
Yeah, but I tried to have him with me. I
understand he was on this show with the barstool guys,
but I've tried to have him with me and I've
been rebuffed. And maybe one day we'll see if that
happens too. I do think he should apologize for the
for the flipping off. I do think that would help.
And tattoos gotta go. They got procedures now they got lasers.

(34:48):
I think you want Louisville fans to really hate him.
Cover off. We're gonna cover up. That would be That
would be tough. Don Franklin's family of dealerships prices are
falling and affordable doesn't need to be possible. With Don
Franklin and Dodd Franklin dot Com, twenty six dealerships all
across the Bluegrass. Learn more at Don Franklin Otto. Don
Franklin is driven by family. A lot of people have

(35:09):
strong opinions. I'll tell you what, hey, if I'm nine
two eighth twenty two eighty seven, in the last segment,
I'll give everybody shaving thirty seconds to make their Patino opinion.

Speaker 6 (35:18):
All right, So everybody on, how about fifteen seconds?

Speaker 4 (35:22):
Fifteen seconds to make an honor for it again? Less
than fifteen seconds to make your Patino yes or no opinion.
Right after this, I can it's far Welcome back Tucky
Sports Radio. All right, couple things. First of all, Big
Blue Madness Friday, Kentucky Game Saturday. The bar should be

(35:42):
awesome this weekend. We'll start getting think we'll be here
before Big Blue Madness. We're also gonna be here after
Big Blue Madness. I'm considering doing well. I won't say
that we might do something live here at the bar
after Big Blue Man. It's just on video or something
we'll see. I don't know if that's gonna happen in
Saturday games at seven forty five of our pregame show
will start at three thirty that day here as well,

(36:05):
so should be a massive weekend. Also, our remote is
at Kentucky Branded Friday where we give away I assume
we'll be giving away Big Blue Madness tickets. We do
that almost every year. It's usually one of our best year,
huge sales. If you want UK gear, this is your
time to come because the sales during that event Friday
at behind Fayette Mall will be the best. Now I'm

(36:28):
gonna do the ad so we can then get to
these callers. Kentucky Chamber. If you're a business owner looking
for ways to attract and retain the top talent, Kentucky
Chamber of Commerce understands childcare is a large concern. Invest
in childcare solutions. You're not just supporting families, you're supporting

can make childcare affordable for your customers. K or for

(36:51):
your employees. Kychamber dot com slash childcare kychamber dot com
slash childcare. All right, we got six people here, Shannon,
fifteen seconds you buzz them in honor of Patino. You
make your point yay or nay on him quick as possible.
Here we go. Who's a j DJ go all right,

(37:12):
I'm gonna say pro Patino.

Speaker 7 (37:13):
He won the championship at ninety six, He led Kentucky
to three final fours.

Speaker 4 (37:18):
Won two hundred nineteen games, and I'm gonna be at
the Big Blue Madness as he's there. I'm pro Potino,
pro Patino.

Speaker 5 (37:25):
That's one.

Speaker 4 (37:26):
There's one Marsha won't put his naked since you wait, yeah, sorry,
who's next?

Speaker 6 (37:30):
Cody?

Speaker 4 (37:31):
Cody? What's up? Fellas?

Speaker 13 (37:34):
I'm a pro Patino. I think a lot of Patinos
was jealousy is hating love at the same time he
hated cow but he still loved us. I think, uh,
you know, we're gonna see a lot of the Warriors
offense with Pope's offense, and we've been wanting that year.

Speaker 4 (37:49):
All right. Two for pro says he doesn't hate Kentucky,
hated cal Do you agree with that?

Speaker 5 (37:56):
There may be a little truth to that.

Speaker 4 (37:57):
That might be a little bit of truth to that.
What's next, David David pro Con, I am pro Rick?
Are you there? Yes? Hello?

Speaker 9 (38:09):
Rick brought us back from the ashes, we want us
the title, handed Toby a team to win a second title,
and destroyed our rival.

Speaker 4 (38:17):
See that's a good fart, Drue. You always say that too.
He also crushed Louisville in the process. They've never been
the same since the day he left.

Speaker 7 (38:24):
Listen if he came back and say, did you all
see what I did to Louisville? I'm giving a standing ovation.

Speaker 4 (38:28):
Yes, pro three to one.

Speaker 6 (38:30):
Next, Jason Jason pro Con.

Speaker 9 (38:34):
Pro Patino for the things that he did, bringing us
back from the from the death penalty.

Speaker 4 (38:39):
Basically and reviving the Kentucky program. You gotta say pro
Man four. Yeah, Is anybody besides Marsha gonna give a
con next?

Speaker 6 (38:47):
Dalton?

Speaker 4 (38:48):
Dalton pro were con and.

Speaker 12 (38:50):
They walking him out in the football stadium with Mark Pope.

Speaker 9 (38:54):
There's a time that would be a while person to
say things I would regret, but for the sake of
that being his coach, Mark Pope, I wouldn't boo or cheer.
If you go to Vircini's promo code leg.

Speaker 7 (39:06):
I actually have news update on this. Ruth just tweeted,
I'll be there on the sidelines helping coach Stoops with
a winki emoji from Patina.

Speaker 4 (39:14):
On the sidelines. Did he really say that? Wow? But
he says he's flying in Saturday, so not that will
not be at at Big Blue Madness according to him.
Wait wait I don't know. Uh uh wow.

Speaker 14 (39:34):
So he says, don't be on the sidelines helping coach Stoops.
Wiki face, wiki face. All right, what's next, Brandy, Randy?
Go ahead?

Speaker 15 (39:45):
Con He's a Benedette Garnald of basketball. Benedette Garnald did
some great things in the revolution, but ended up being
a trader. Do some good things here, but end up
being a trader. He left and went where to go?
Our number one rival?

Speaker 4 (39:58):
What is it? Flip us on? Wow, that's interesting. Was
a good soldier and then.

Speaker 6 (40:06):
Till he wasn't.

Speaker 4 (40:07):
Until he wasn't. That's that's an interesting. So there's there's
our first con that's not marching. Next, who's up?

Speaker 6 (40:13):
That's it. We've cleared the lines. It's all six of them.

Speaker 4 (40:15):
Oh okay, we'll open them back up. They're open Hey,
if I'm nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven,
jump on here. I want to get the pro con.

Speaker 5 (40:24):
So if if we take him and his tweet being true,
he flies in Saturday, goes to Keenland, goes to the game,
I find that hard to believe. He's not coming twelve
hours earlier to go to Madness to night.

Speaker 4 (40:36):
And then they could have a Saint johns Vin. I
don't know their schedule. They could be doing one of
their things.

Speaker 7 (40:41):
Don't They have a big believe in fact that he
said I'm helping coach Stoops. Winky face if you had said,
with all that was going on two years ago, I
mean that Rick Patino is gonna tweet I'm helping coach
Stoops from THEE.

Speaker 4 (40:52):
That wasn't so funny on so many levels, because not
only does it port you know when left hand Stoops
weren't getting along either.

Speaker 5 (41:01):
That's right, not at all. So now they have that mutual.

Speaker 4 (41:05):
That's why there's a very there's several layers to this.
Oh my goodness, Rick.

Speaker 5 (41:10):
If they if they win, Jeff Rubies might be the
place to be a Saturday night.

Speaker 4 (41:14):
Oh he'll be there. Yeah, that might be a hard
reservation to get on Saturday. If he'll be there, Who knows,
Maybe we'll get him here, although Martia might never comes.
Rick on the pregame. If I had Rick Fatino in
this place, I'm gonna tell you, I'm gonna try. I mean,
I'm gonna give him a chance. Although he walks in here,
he might punch me on Saturday afternoon, so I don't know.

(41:35):
All right, go ahead, who's up?

Speaker 6 (41:36):
All right, let's go to Frank.

Speaker 4 (41:38):
Frank, go for it. I'm twenty two eighty seven. Yes
or no.

Speaker 8 (41:42):
Well, I'm gonna say no. He has done a lot
of good things.

Speaker 9 (41:46):
But the finger to the fans, to me, that was
directed to the fan.

Speaker 5 (41:51):
Yeah, so I say he's out.

Speaker 4 (41:53):
You know, it's crazy, that finger to the fans. I
don't think people would even know that that was worldwide.
Todd Harris that took that picture, and that still to
this day lingers to people. And what if Todd hadn't
had his camera, because like, I think that's the only
picture of it. I think there's one blurry picture of

(42:13):
it and that's it. But that's interesting. That's the I
think that's the only record that that happened. Let's do
one more Hunter Hunter, go ahead.

Speaker 9 (42:23):
Pro And do you think that tweet was a coincidence
or do you think he's listening to KSL right now?

Speaker 4 (42:28):
He's not listening. Zagoria put out that he had talked
to him and said he was coming. So I don't
think he's he's listening. But uh, I'm gonna be honest
with you. If he's coming, I'm gonna try to I'm
gonna try to do a text. Marciela's on his staff right.
I believe he is.

Speaker 5 (42:43):
I forgot about that.

Speaker 4 (42:45):
Oh, we gotta try to. What do you think the
winkie face? You imagine? What if he walked in here?
Do you think you'd get around of applause Saturday?

Speaker 5 (42:51):
Most of the people probably would. They did today.

Speaker 4 (42:52):
That would be fascinating. Well, wow, we'll find out. See
you later. It's KSR.
