waved everybody Monique even though that's the radio. Monique said,
she was like, it's election day. She was like, maybe
we shouldn't, you know, maybe we should take the day
off for the election because people vote. And I was like, no,
this is a good day to be open because people

(01:26):
are out of school, right, so like they can come now.
You all have to actually come today so that Monique
doesn't kill me. That's because Monique, she's shaking her head
over there because like if we have a slow day after,
I said, because I thought with people being out of school,
this is the perfect time to come for lunch or whatever.

Speaker 2 (01:43):
Because we all have school, a lot of parents have
to take the day off to be home.

Speaker 5 (01:47):
To be home with the kids, and like the kids
are going to vote at least five or six times
each So.

Speaker 6 (01:52):
Drew, it feels like this would be what you would
want to do, and what.

Speaker 7 (01:55):
A great place to celebrate your vote after you, you know,
do your service to your country.

Speaker 6 (01:59):
Did you get me? Did you get a sticker?

Speaker 2 (02:01):
I haven't been yet.

Speaker 6 (02:02):
Are you gonna go?

Speaker 2 (02:03):
Yeah, I'll go.

Speaker 6 (02:03):
I feel like you're gonna skip. I always go, dude.

Speaker 2 (02:06):
I went by this morning where I go Central Center
Point Christian Church parking lot.

Speaker 6 (02:09):
Was pot, yes, pot in Louisville. They had some problems
this morning.

Speaker 3 (02:13):
Apparently they did where I was, because it took an
hour for twenty people to go through a line.

Speaker 6 (02:17):
Yeah, was it where the machines down? As that was
that the problem.

Speaker 3 (02:20):
I'm not sure exactly what the issue was, but it
took way too long.

Speaker 5 (02:24):
Yeah, I guess the machines were down in part. But
they say it's fixed now, and uh, you know, hopefully
it all goes smoothly. And then tonight I'll be at
the movie theater. You can you can call me when
you can call each other when the if the country
birds down.

Speaker 2 (02:37):
You said you're gonna stay off your phone, we'll be
able to.

Speaker 5 (02:40):
I already know there's a movie at seven, then there's
a movie at nine forty five. You go see them both,
I think, so yeah, I'm gonna check in between just
to get like an update, yeah, and then back off
and then hopefully when I'm done by midnight. I still
don't think we'll know like they I still don't think
they'll decline aired it, but I think you'll have a pretty.

Speaker 6 (03:01):
Good sense by like midnight. That's my guess. I'm the opposite.

Speaker 7 (03:05):
I haven't read or seen anything in the last year,
but I'll watch everything tonight.

Speaker 6 (03:10):
You will.

Speaker 5 (03:11):
Yeah, this is how I will learn about the candidates.
You ned of them until Donald Trump.

Speaker 6 (03:19):
It used to be a businessman, and then Kamala Harris
she was she's a senator or what she was.

Speaker 7 (03:26):
I have to bring something up this. I do this
every election day. I get up and I try to
do my research on all these other races. You can't judge,
there's nothing. We have two candidates in my house. I
won't say their names. We're calling one of them fire
Lady because I kept getting this pop up video of
a burning building on her site. I'm like, I can't
even read about her because this burning video keeps showing up.
And the other person we just call her flyer Lady

(03:48):
because she we have a pamphlet for every day. That's
the only thing I know about them is a pop
up bad on a site. And all this may.

Speaker 5 (03:55):
Choose between mail and fire. We when I left the house,
we were still sitting.

Speaker 6 (03:59):
There to go mail or fire. You can't find.

Speaker 7 (04:01):
Anything about some of these other people, like you go
to their website and it's like, well, her husband has
a small business and she went to this school. Well
I don't care what her husband does. What are these
people about? Here's my complaint. I think that's a fair
So fire Lady and Pamplet lady is going.

Speaker 4 (04:18):
You have I have. I didn't see Kristin Powers on
my ballot. Unfortunately I don't.

Speaker 5 (04:22):
I don't think she's running this time. Mario, have you voted?
Are you going to? He thinks, So he gets he's
got things going on, you understand, like he's got to
make me, he's got videos to make. He thinks, so Ryan,
we'll see.

Speaker 2 (04:37):
Well, I heard of one of these national guys on
the radio this morning. He said, there's a scenario where
it could end up deadlocked.

Speaker 6 (04:44):
There is I think that's unlikely.

Speaker 5 (04:46):
I think that the scenario that there is a scenario
where it ends and would end up I mean, I'll
do all this in the second hour. But there's a
scenario where Harris would get Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, and there's
a there's a district in Nebraska that gets its own vote,
really yes, and it'll probably go Harris. But if it
went Trump, then it could end up tied. Wow, and

(05:08):
what happens They fight at WrestleMania. They well, we tried,
they outbid us.

Speaker 6 (05:16):
They fight at WrestleMania, and then that's who gets to
be president.

Speaker 7 (05:19):
But next should be whoever sent the most pamples.

Speaker 5 (05:21):
To sixty two sixty nine six nine is a definite possibility.

Speaker 6 (05:27):
It's it's unlikely, but it's theoretic.

Speaker 2 (05:29):
That's what I was saying. Yeah, there is a possibility.

Speaker 6 (05:31):
Gr We'll do all that later. Let's talk about the
basketball game.

Speaker 5 (05:34):
Kentucky opened the season last night against Wright State, and uh,
I was a lot of fun. Cats led from the
opening tip, played well, didn't I mean, only made eleven threes,
but scored one hundred and three points, layup steals, passing,
just a fun just a fun style of basketball, good crowd,

(05:56):
excited atmosphere. Ryan, I'm not sure the start of the
Pope era and a forty one point victory, which is
the exact number, of course, of the number he wore
in college. I'm not sure you could have had a
better start to all things, Mark Post.

Speaker 2 (06:10):
It's just amazing how it's so much fun and it's
so enjoyable to watch him play, running plays, come out
of a timeout, you know, putting on three quarter court press,
just think basketball things that they're doing now. But it
was good to kind of see him play so well
and where they didn't have to rely on three point
balls so much.

Speaker 5 (06:27):
No, I mean, you made eleven threes. Oway and Brea
were seven of those eleven, yeah threes.

Speaker 7 (06:33):
They were seven for seven together, they were seven for seven.

Speaker 5 (06:35):
The two dudes. We were like, well, who's gonna start.
They're both like, well, you're gonna make them. I might
have to make them, and they both did great. Two
leading scores on the team. That Bray look away three.
I mean, come on, what do we doing?

Speaker 7 (06:46):
The screen shot where the balls not even to the
backboard yet and he's turned around looking at you.

Speaker 6 (06:50):
Is there a picture like that?

Speaker 7 (06:51):
I just I paused the shot from and tweeted it,
but yeah, I mean, the ball's not even to the
goal yet, he's turned around looking at the guy behind him.
That's the highlight of the night, but just of the
of all the fun. They did this a little bit
in exhibitions, but thirty assists on what was like thirty
nine baskets. I think they just passed the ball so
much to get the best shot.

Speaker 5 (07:09):
And they get their hands, they get the steels. Six
guys in double figures. You know you expected. I mean,
you held a team that averaged eighty one points a game,
you held them to sixty three. I mean, I just
don't know how it could have gone much better.

Speaker 6 (07:25):
And then you just have the vibes of the environment.

Speaker 5 (07:27):
Really good crowd, not like not not full, but drew
I think.

Speaker 6 (07:31):
For it was close.

Speaker 7 (07:33):
We sit up there at the top of the end
zone now, so I've had a pretty good feel because
you know, it's the worst section used that end zone.
It's pretty empty. It was completely empty both exhibitions. It
was almost all the way full in the end zone
up there too, so great crowd people into it.

Speaker 5 (07:47):
I want to say, for those of you that don't go,
that give me the tickets to give away.

Speaker 6 (07:51):
That's such a cool thing. Yeah, because so like I
was at the.

Speaker 5 (07:56):
Sauna, you know, I go to the sauna on on
revived sna okay, and uh, I was like, I had
four tickets and I said, first people to get here and.

Speaker 2 (08:06):
I had to come in the sun.

Speaker 5 (08:07):
And again I was sitting on the porch, I know
they didn't have to come see wrapped in sh like.

Speaker 6 (08:12):
I wasn't like you have to.

Speaker 4 (08:13):
Walk east sweat all sweaty and like.

Speaker 5 (08:17):
Come on, I have a little bit of taste. This
was when I was done. I was sitting on the porch.

Speaker 4 (08:21):
Tickets are all saw from the one is they come.

Speaker 6 (08:24):
Like like like two different people come running Upah. One
girl uh was was late like she was third.

Speaker 5 (08:31):
And then while I was standing there, somebody sent me
more tickets and I was able to give her. Then
an hour later I had more tickets and so I
gave away it on social media. I didn't have given
away fourteen tickets last night. Fourteen and people sent me
pictures of themselves.

Speaker 2 (08:45):
That's a great.

Speaker 5 (08:46):
It's a very cool thing to do. Rather than it
be empty, right, have it? Have people give away the ticket?

Speaker 6 (08:51):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (08:51):
I asked our friend here from Maduka, Kevin. He said
it was almost full and people stayed to the end
and even stayed for the Mark Pole press conference. When
he talked to tell me afterwards.

Speaker 5 (08:59):
That was you could tell listening on the radio that
there were people there. Let me tell you something about
Mark Pope after these presscounts, after these Tom Leech interviews,
they stay and like talk to people. Now, I'm gonna
tell you this story, and I want everybody to a
think it's sweet and be not expect you're gonna be next. Okay,

(09:19):
so I'm being serious. I want to say this because
I think it gives you a sense of who our
coach is.

Speaker 6 (09:24):
But don't let go. Okay, can I be the next one? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (09:27):
Right?

Speaker 5 (09:28):
This guy from Martin County, Kentucky. You remember Martin County,
veryr That's where they had the water crisis deep in
the mountains inas. We did a show from there. I
did a TV special on it. We got nominated for
an Emmy for the thing we did. That was where
the guy lied and told me he was a different
person than he was. If you remember on camera, cour

(09:48):
We were in Martin County a lot during that time.
Really nice people, very isolated. A guy was here from
Martin County with like three kids. They stayed after they
just hoped to meet the you know A player after
the game. They said something like seven of the ten players.
They ended up getting their seven to twelve getting autogress
from Mark Pope came over heard where they were from,

(10:11):
talked to him for a minute and ended up taking
them in the back and showing them.

Speaker 6 (10:15):
The locker Wow.

Speaker 5 (10:16):
No kidding, these four people from Mark County ended up
in the locker room. That just regular fans. Yep, that's
not Donor fans, just regular fans. And like the person
wrote me and said, this was the coolest night for
my kids of their life. That's the guy we have
coaching Ryan, And obviously we gotta win, but winning and having.

Speaker 6 (10:38):
Stuff like that happened now.

Speaker 2 (10:39):
I think that's why people are so excited, because he
gets what it means, what basketball means to this state,
what being a UK basketball player, UK coach means to
people in this state. We put you on a very
high pedestal, and Pope gets that. He understands it.

Speaker 7 (10:53):
There's probably so many of those stories we'll never know
of him doing things like that already. You know, after
an exhibition woman who listened to the show had been
on the Italy trip in nineteen ninety six, which oh really,
that's neat, and she had a bunch of pictures in
her hand, and I guess somehow Pope found out and
he had told her to go stand in the corner
and he wanted to talk to you about Italy and
all the fun they had for this is after coaching
a game and it's time to go home, he sawt

(11:14):
her out. I mean, he probably does this so many times.
We'll never know how many times.

Speaker 6 (11:17):
That's exactly right.

Speaker 5 (11:18):
This person just happened to write me, but it probably
happens all the time and we don't even know.

Speaker 6 (11:23):
He said in the postgame, it was one.

Speaker 5 (11:25):
Of the most special moments of his life last night,
getting to coach that game and come out and have
that that applause.

Speaker 6 (11:32):
That's really cool.

Speaker 2 (11:33):
Yah, Jimmy Dyke to ask him after the game, you
know what was it like for you to come out
of that tunnel? And then of course they gave him
the bourbon barrel head.

Speaker 6 (11:39):
That was awesome.

Speaker 7 (11:40):
That was that was a cool thing to bring give
the bourbon barrelhead. Mitch Barnhardt handing Mark Pope at bourbon barrelhead.
Though it was a little funny. Probably don't have huge
burdons at home.

Speaker 5 (11:50):
Probably neither of them drinks it, you know what.

Speaker 7 (11:54):
That they did it, but that was a little ironic.

Speaker 2 (11:55):
Yeah, that is a little The team, you know, celebrate
with him like they just won a championship. You know,
one's head.

Speaker 5 (12:01):
It is so interesting with these guys, and in saying this,
I don't want to disparage the kind of guys we've
had in the last thirty or fourteen years. Watching their
talent of these young dudes was awesome. Watching guys become
players over the course of a year was very, very cool.
But there's also so something neat and refreshing about seeing
twenty two and twenty three year old people who are

(12:23):
becoming adults or are adults who play. And as a
caller said on the postgame show, most of the players
on the team, maybe all of the players on the team,
but certainly most of them. This is not a stop
to an end. This is a destination, right, Yeah, this
is a destination. Jackson Robinson might play in the NBA, maybe,

(12:46):
Garrison plays in the NBA. Maybe, But for the rest
of them, they'll have a pro career if they want
to have it, but I probably won't be in the NBA.
And this is a destination. And it's cool watching them
because it feels like they all really do appreciate.

Speaker 2 (13:00):
Yeah, I think that it is. They understand They're mature
enough and enough to understand how appreciative it is to
put on that uniform, or maybe the guys in the
past are so talented they've been babied and coddled and
play on the high profile.

Speaker 6 (13:10):
Fact. It's just it's part. It's a step for them.

Speaker 2 (13:13):
Yeah, they've been playing these high profile summer league teams,
get all the swag, you know, for four or five
years in high school. For these guys, man, it is
they appreciate what it means to put on that Kentucky jersey.

Speaker 6 (13:24):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (13:24):
I've mentioned how like in the past, not that they
didn't appreciate being here or you know, I'm not trying
to change the narrative how it was for the last
fifteen years, but Kentucky was just a step on their
ladder and they were happy to be on that step
for a year. But they got here thinking NBA, left
here thinking NBA. It's just not the case with these
and a lot.

Speaker 5 (13:41):
Of times they had a better time here than they
thought they would, you know what I mean. I think
a lot of them ended up enjoining it more than
they ever thought they would. But for these guys, you
can just see them appreciating. You know, last night we
had six guys in double figures and one of them
was not Jackson Robinson. Yeah, he is actually one of
the ones who didn't score double figures. So I mean
they really you can't help but be excited, and I

(14:03):
feel like these are just gonna be steps and really
watching a team that I think is gonna be really
really fun to get behind if you think the same
thing or what you think of the game, if you
win a five nine twenty two eighty seven.

Speaker 6 (14:15):
Where are you all from? Richmond?

Speaker 5 (14:18):
Richmond, Paducah and a former chast bar and boy Michael, oh, Michael,
all right here in the morning.

Speaker 6 (14:24):
We will take a break and be right back. It's
Kentucky Sports Radio. I've never heard this song. What this is?
Clearly Willie what's it called?

Speaker 4 (14:38):
Vote them Out?

Speaker 6 (14:39):
Vote them Out? That's I've never heard of that. I
have it either, would Do you know? Willy has something
like one hundred thirteen albums.

Speaker 4 (14:47):
That's crazy, puts one out every week.

Speaker 5 (14:49):
No, I mean, I'm serious, he put he he puts out.
I think I heard that on Willie's Roadhouse the other day.
They were like my dad, because because Willy's daughter's on
there no offense to her. I don't enjoy listening to
on Willie's Roadhouse, not her music, just just her DJing.
But she was talking about her day and she's like,
my dad's one hundred and something. The album is coming
out next week.

Speaker 7 (15:09):
Yeah, and forget he made an album.

Speaker 6 (15:11):
I don't know. I think he just shan. I just
think he's like hanging out and he's like, let's move
an album. We got a few hours why not?

Speaker 4 (15:17):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (15:18):
Good for him nine years old and still kicking. Eight
twenty two eighty seven, One person writes, mad, is it
still a law that you can't serve.

Speaker 6 (15:26):
Alcohol before the polls clobes? That used to be a law,
but I think they changed it a few years ago.

Speaker 5 (15:32):
Used to be like you couldn't buy alcohol from today
until like six o'clock when the polls club was.

Speaker 6 (15:36):
But I think that's changed. I think now you you
can't Was that a just a Kentucky law or was
that she was a Kentucky law? I think they were
worried about bootlegging.

Speaker 7 (15:43):
You know, and uh getting hammered for you good?

Speaker 2 (15:46):
You say.

Speaker 5 (15:48):
Indiana had the same law? Okay, yeah, I think you know.
My mom ran for office once. Have I ever told
you that? I mean she ran a few times, but
the first time, so she ran in nineteen eighty seven
and she lost by fifty seven votes, and then she
ran in nineteen ninety three and she won by tons
and then kept the job until she retired a few
years ago. But in nineteen eighty seven a man came

(16:10):
up to her and I want to say it was
in like RJ ale and said and had like a
bottle of whiskey, okay, and was probably a little drunk,
and said, I voted.

Speaker 6 (16:24):
Against you today four times blank.

Speaker 5 (16:28):
What true story? Yeah, said that to her. That's when
she knew maybe it wasn't.

Speaker 6 (16:34):
Gonna work out.

Speaker 5 (16:35):
For they're passionate, so you know, things can happen on this.

Speaker 2 (16:40):
So one RJ, you can vote four times. Well, I
think you.

Speaker 5 (16:43):
Know, in the Mountains, it used to be. I don't
think it's as much like this anymore, but it was
used to be kind of whoever got that machine. There's
a famous Mountain politician whose name a lot of people
in the state would know. I'm not gonna say who
it is, but the the allegation.

Speaker 6 (17:02):
Was that they'd wait to see the totals and then
they'd see how many they needed and then fix.

Speaker 2 (17:07):
The doll magically. They're just at.

Speaker 5 (17:10):
They would be like, well, because you remember those old
machines were like you press the lever and it would
like it was like old school.

Speaker 6 (17:16):
And I think they just keep pressing the lever a
few times. But that's gone now.

Speaker 7 (17:21):
They got the voted four times. That's why we don't
have stickers anymore.

Speaker 2 (17:24):
He to call the stickers. I want to go down
to RJ. There's stuff going down in RJ.

Speaker 5 (17:29):
I know you don't not at night. You better know
somebody five nine two eight h h twenty two eighty seven.
One person writes Matt. Thing I like about the team.
They just go about their business. They miss a shot,
they get to keep playing. They make a turnover, they
get to keep playing. Last night was the sloppiest of
the three games. But Pope didn't just pull people. He
let them play through their mistakes.

Speaker 2 (17:49):
That's something to be said about that.

Speaker 6 (17:50):
Yeah. There.

Speaker 2 (17:51):
You know, these guys had never played together until April.
They get on campus in April and May and so
had to. You know, they're such a good passing team.
You know they're they're looking for each other. Amari Williams,
he's gonna maybe be one of our team leaders and assists.
The guys is amazing with what he can do in
the high post, so it gonna be just a fun
team to watch all season.

Speaker 7 (18:09):
Yeah, this goes back to the exhibition, but when they
went two for eleven from three in the first half,
Pope said afterwards, like, yeah, it happens. It wasn't like
you don't want that to happen. But He's like, when
you play the way we do, you're gonna have stretches
where you go two for eleven. We're just looking forward
to the next shot. It's just like such a positive outlook.

Speaker 5 (18:26):
Even when they're in a funk, they are they he
is relentlessly positive. Yeah, it feels like and it seems
to work. And I'm telling you, when these dudes are open,
I just feel like it's going in. How many guys
when they're open, You're like, it's in, Oh wow. I'm
definitely that way. I'm definitely that way for Brea, I'm
definitely that way for oh Way. I'm definitely that way
for Jackson Robinson. I'm getting that way. Uh well, Lamont

(18:51):
Butler for the most part and less it's a layup,
my man's my man missed two layups.

Speaker 2 (18:57):
One was a dunk, one was a dunk.

Speaker 6 (19:00):
Jumped a little early on the dunk. I liked that.

Speaker 7 (19:02):
Right after that, Mario Williams and to take it, oh
Way both had breakaway dunks and kind of looked at
him like, that's how you finish.

Speaker 6 (19:07):
Yeah, love you, Ma Williams.

Speaker 5 (19:11):
Just take just maybe you don't need to dribble from
the top of the key every time. I mean, you know,
five turnovers when we have eleven turnovers, he had five
of them or something like, like, you know.

Speaker 7 (19:22):
Just as good as a passer is a lot too. Yeah,
he tries to make the tough pass and if one
of them ended in the eruption zone, I think you're
just gonna have that balance.

Speaker 6 (19:30):
I like the and I think he's really good.

Speaker 5 (19:32):
But you know, when you can only drible with your
left hand, maybe don't try to cross people up at
the front.

Speaker 6 (19:36):
Of the court, but otherwise, very very little sloppiness.

Speaker 7 (19:39):
So it's my favorite player you're talking about.

Speaker 6 (19:41):
Be careful.

Speaker 7 (19:42):
Well, I claimed him a month ago, but I've I've
stamped it after two exhibitions. In one game, I think
somebody else could pick somebody up.

Speaker 6 (19:49):
Jackson Robinson's my favorite, but I will say, oh way,
he's mine. You like, oh you want you want to
take away?

Speaker 2 (19:54):
Dude, he does everything just you know, defense, steals, deflections, rebounds,
drive to the He's who's the last guy we've had
that could drive to the basket like that, take contact
and finish. It's been a while.

Speaker 6 (20:06):
When we've talked to you.

Speaker 5 (20:07):
There's not a lot of guys that are good at Yeah,
you know. To me, Bogan's and Crawford were the two
best at that at that ability to take a hit
and finish away always kind of like that.

Speaker 7 (20:19):
You're right, having been there last night. However, many people
were in his fan club before the game started. When
the game ended, it was twice as many. You heard
so many always my favorite. You're doing the rapid reaction.
Talk to people who they like. There is a lot
of new Otago Away fans after last night.

Speaker 5 (20:33):
My mom said she won two thirds of the precinct.
She lost by less than half of one percent two weeks.

Speaker 6 (20:39):
After Larry had a heart attack. That's right, Larry had
a heart attack right before the election.

Speaker 5 (20:43):
Really, yeah, so she was so she really didn't get
the campaign the last couple of weeks, but the next
time crushed.

Speaker 2 (20:49):
It crushed everybody, that's right.

Speaker 6 (20:51):
Bill Hayes who's up next?

Speaker 4 (20:53):
Danny, Danny?

Speaker 6 (20:54):
How are you Danny's.

Speaker 8 (20:58):
Hey, guys, I'm doing well.

Speaker 6 (20:59):
Good day.

Speaker 8 (21:00):
I'm not gonna try to be divisive on this day.
But my buddies and I were talking last night during
the game, and you know the definition.

Speaker 6 (21:07):
Of a win win.

Speaker 8 (21:08):
We were kind of bantering about how many games do
you think Pope would win with the Arkansas lineup? How
many games you think Cal would win with this Kentucky lineup.
We kind of put the over under at twelve games
for Cal here, and then Pope wouldn't be a successful
there with the lineup that Cal.

Speaker 6 (21:24):
I think that's a very fair point. I do. I
think this roster.

Speaker 5 (21:27):
Cal would not be good with this roster, But then again,
Pope probably wouldn't be good with with the roster that
that Arkansas had.

Speaker 6 (21:35):
I mean they I do think they both have rosters
fit drew to what they do, right.

Speaker 5 (21:40):
I mean, you give Pope a bunch of guys that
can't shoot and go to the basket, that's not gonna
be good for him. And Cal has already shown that
given a bunch of shooters, ain't gonna m do it anyway,
although he did more last year to his credit, But yes,
I think the I think they got the right lineups
for their team.

Speaker 7 (21:56):
Oh definitely, And they're both better off where they are.
I mean, if you gave Pope the other just because
he's a better endgame coach, but you know Cal, Pope
can't build the roster that Cal has been able to
build for so many years. They just they both have
a better skill in all.

Speaker 6 (22:09):
The all time.

Speaker 5 (22:10):
If you switch the rosters, the coaches would have been better.
Is the Zion team would have been better with Cal.
And as much as we love the Tyler hero PJ.
Washington Richards, that team would probably been better with k.
I think if you flip those two teams, both of
those teams would have been better if you if you.

Speaker 2 (22:30):
Did it, Yeah, that season in Thatack team with the
rosters had magically switched to the middle of I think.

Speaker 5 (22:35):
I think that they they both ended up with each
other's roster somehow, and that was the year if they
had flipped rosters. I think those two teams played for
the national championship. They ended up both losing on the
same day. If you if you remember a I'm nine
twenty two eighty seven, we are here at ks Bar
and grill. Open up at eleven, Come see us. We're
gonna take a break. Beautiful day. Could not ask for

(22:57):
better weather on election days. Tucky's It's Radio.

Speaker 4 (23:01):
TJ Smith, personal injury attorney called TJ.

Speaker 6 (23:04):
He'll make them pay.

Speaker 3 (23:05):
Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.

Speaker 4 (23:09):
Here's Matt Jones.

Speaker 5 (23:10):
So, first of all, how about Corey Price. That's awesome
coming through with the newspaper. In nineteen ninety three, when
my mom was elected commonwealth attorney, she joined two other
women as the first female commonwealth attorneys in the history
of Kentucky, one of which is Anna Deskin's Melvin. I
think I told you we were at lunch one day

(23:31):
the other day and ran into her Carsons Right, yes,
at Carson's My mom beat Bill Hayes in and look
look at my mom in nineteen ninety three, right there.

Speaker 6 (23:43):
Do it? How proud great is that?

Speaker 5 (23:45):
You're a very little son, Bobby, Yeah, nineteen nine. Think
about nineteen ninety three a post a woman had never
been elected to Two of the three women one in
the mountains of eastern Kentucky. Right, my mom was in
Bell County and Anna Deskin's Melvin was impaintful and they
went and won.

Speaker 6 (24:04):
How cool is that? Very cool?

Speaker 2 (24:05):
Very cool makes me saying.

Speaker 5 (24:06):
Yes, I am proud of eight five nine two, eight
oh twenty two eighty seven.

Speaker 6 (24:10):
The women won as well. Last night. The women came
out also pounded them, by the way.

Speaker 5 (24:15):
Absolutely destroyed South Carolina Upstate, one of my favorite names
for school. I used to always say they should also
have South Carolina down yonder.

Speaker 6 (24:24):
But South Carolina Upstate beat them. Look great.

Speaker 7 (24:27):
Yeah, I've watched as much as I could here at
the bar during pregame, and I didn't get to see
the second half. It doesn't look like I needed too.
But they almost got one hundred hit ninety eight. Uh.
Clara Clara, I gotta figure out which is which? She
had twenty two points. George A. Moore, She's she is
what she is. She looks so good. I mean as
much fit confidence as I having the men's team. I'm

(24:48):
right there with the women's and I'm gonna go home
and watch the replay of what I missed. If if
there been any other circumstances in the doubleheader last night,
my butt would have been a historic With morel.

Speaker 5 (24:56):
Came and they played Thursday, by the way, They are
totally Shannon calling it History Ork Memorial Coliseum, which means,
I'm happy for him, But they stole that from Historic
Davis Arena.

Speaker 6 (25:07):
Let's be honest.

Speaker 5 (25:08):
They are now only calling it Historic Memorial Coliseum. Even
Kenny Brooks had a shirt on that said historic Memorials.

Speaker 3 (25:15):
State at Kentucky is big enough to have two historic arenas.

Speaker 5 (25:18):
Okay, but just they show some respect for Historic Davis Arena,
which was their first, which was I think they were
there first. Uh, but this was a kitchen warehouse before
it became Historic Davis Arena.

Speaker 2 (25:30):
But nevertheless, it's just just a little bit of difference
between Memorial Coliseum and Historic Davis.

Speaker 5 (25:36):
Excuse me, Yes, Cliff Hagen and Cotton Nash and pat
Riley played at Historic Memorial Coliseum.

Speaker 6 (25:43):
But oh excuse me, John Cena, Brock, Lesnar, Shannon, the.

Speaker 4 (25:48):
Dude, thank you, thank you the cash flow.

Speaker 7 (25:52):
How many people that played in Memorial have gone on
to be in a Sylvester Saloon's sitcom?

Speaker 6 (25:59):
Probably run see them, Punk, Cody Rhodes.

Speaker 4 (26:03):
Those yeah, those other guys are.

Speaker 2 (26:05):
Lesnard, Randy Orton, Michael Bennett, HollyHood.

Speaker 6 (26:08):
Haley, j Michael Bennetts.

Speaker 2 (26:12):
Yes, Uh.

Speaker 7 (26:15):
Kenny Brooks got a bourbon barrel head last night too,
yeah goo, which Barnhardt greeted both coaches to commemorate.

Speaker 5 (26:20):
It would have been bad if they lost those games.
Those would have been then they had the bourbon barrel
just sitting there. These two folks are from Eku.

Speaker 6 (26:28):
Uh.

Speaker 5 (26:28):
The the young woman is on the Eku dance team
and her dad uh said to tell them hello, and
we're gonna say their dad, they need to stop pounding
so many beers the election day and they need to
be careful before we keep going.

Speaker 2 (26:40):
Yeah, they're the dad said they're here to give them
a hard time. So we manately ordered up shots and
beers for him.

Speaker 6 (26:45):
Ye.

Speaker 7 (26:45):
Colonels had a big win last night. Almost got one
hundred points.

Speaker 6 (26:48):
They did by the way around college basketball real quick.

Speaker 5 (26:51):
Only two or three big losses, Only two or three
upset losses. Oh thank you? These uh, these are like
historic game tickets. Two or three uh, big losses you had.
South Carolina loses to North Florida, bad for the SEC.
Texas A and M loses to Central Florida another bad
loss for the SEC, and then Texas kind of gets

(27:14):
handled by Ohio State, who we play in New York
and Missouri loses to Memphis. So the only power for
conference schools in the country to lose four of them,
and it was all our.

Speaker 2 (27:27):
SEC schools, Texas and Texas and in one. Surprised me
because I said yesterday they're supposed to be two of
the top teams of the SEC. Then right out of
the gate they get whacked.

Speaker 3 (27:35):
What happened to Baylor last night? They got destroyed.

Speaker 6 (27:41):
I mean, our pick of the day a tough started.

Speaker 7 (27:47):
Good good Zaga might be a problem. I watched that
whole game. They destroyed them and they look so good. However,
at the end of the game, did you see Mark
Fu's son check in?

Speaker 6 (27:57):
No? VJ.

Speaker 7 (27:59):
Edgecumbe the five star are dunked on him so hard.
I don't think Mark Fugh can bring his son to
I don't know if you walk on or if you
earn that spot, but they put him in mop up
minutes and I don't know if Edgecombe sought him out,
but it was a murder at the rim. Just on
Mark Fuse boy, you gotta look up the highlight.

Speaker 6 (28:15):
Well.

Speaker 5 (28:16):
I mean that Gonzagga team might be pretty good. I
mean to beat Baylor by forty with their nim Hards
and the Evans.

Speaker 6 (28:22):
That's uh tyl Are they still in school? Who's next?

Speaker 4 (28:24):
Shit, let's go to blue Grass?

Speaker 6 (28:26):
Blue Grass? How are you?

Speaker 9 (28:28):
Oh boy, we're excited enough this way, Matt Good. When
we were talking about the connective tissue, you heard Pope
talking about that, I just assumed that was the offense. All.
Nice to see the defense working together, wasn't that nice?

Speaker 6 (28:42):
Are you? Yeah?

Speaker 5 (28:43):
Are you surprised how good the defense has been Bluegrass?

Speaker 9 (28:48):
Really surprised, really surprised. And then on the other end,
when they have to play defense, if you're gonna fight
over those screens and keep those three from flying, then
the the lane is wide open. Oh yeah, I had
Oh my good. And I can't get enough with Pope.
Like I listened to him on the TV interview. I
switched over to iHeart and listened to it. I mean,

(29:10):
I listened to I mean, geez, So that guy's just
smart the way he just breaks down the game. I
can't get enough.

Speaker 6 (29:17):
Man, Well, I'm with you. It's nice. It's cool to hear.
I appreciate the call.

Speaker 5 (29:21):
On the post game, he talks basketball, you know, he
doesn't just say like like he talks basketball. He talks
about the plays they were on, he talks about how
they I mean, the Tom Leech interviews.

Speaker 6 (29:32):
Are actually really informative. And you know Tom Leach has
always tried, but mart Pope answers the questions and they're
interesting and our defense is good. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (29:43):
Well, actually they actually have taught defense. You know, you've
heard Cal say this time of year, we didn't put
any defensive sets in him. We won't do that till December.

Speaker 7 (29:50):
Haven't worked on it yet.

Speaker 2 (29:51):
You haven't worked on it time?

Speaker 6 (29:52):
Yeah, we give us so many days. Well, they've worked
on it for ours. I mean, I'm impressed with how
many dudes can really guard the ball drew in this
in this on this team, they got a lot of
guys who can stay in front of their man.

Speaker 7 (30:06):
Yeah, and the o way Butler combo, that's that's a
nasty defensive back court. Yes, they each had three steals
last night. I think at the end of the year,
Butler is gonna be chasing the school record for a season.
But oh way, the way he jumped at a passing
lane went end end and turned you know, a steal
into two points right away. I think we're going to
be seeing a lot of that from those two.

Speaker 5 (30:24):
I will say I said this on the post game show.
I messed up saying to Mario during Pro Day that
I didn't think Almonor was I mean, I just didn't
know if he was.

Speaker 6 (30:34):
A great player.

Speaker 5 (30:35):
And now every every time he scores, Mario sends me
a text, like every single point he scores, Mario's like,
there's your boy.

Speaker 6 (30:45):
Yeah, there's your boy. There's your boy. And he had
eleven last night in thirteen minutes. I know he was
very efficient.

Speaker 2 (30:52):
I said this after one of the exhibition game. He's
a lot better than I thought, a better shooter than
I thought.

Speaker 5 (30:57):
Yeah, he My only worry with him his quickness. But
he's doing pretty good. And that corner three, I think
every time he's been open.

Speaker 6 (31:04):
He's made it.

Speaker 2 (31:04):
That's his shot, that's his shot.

Speaker 7 (31:06):
Yeah, he's confident that too, with a quick trigger. I mean,
that's a guy comfortable taking that. And as we've seen
through two exhibitions in this game, he is taking it
and he makes it.

Speaker 5 (31:13):
Who's up next, Jeremy, Jeremy, Go ahead, Jeremy, Jeremy.

Speaker 3 (31:21):
I need ballot help.

Speaker 9 (31:22):
And this is going to sound like a joke, but
I promised.

Speaker 8 (31:25):
It's a real question.

Speaker 4 (31:26):
I'm outside my polling place, okay and having a question.

Speaker 6 (31:29):
On Amendment one.

Speaker 8 (31:30):
Okay, Section three.

Speaker 5 (31:32):
Yeah, so you're reading the part. I've gotten this a lot.
It's the part that says something about idiots.

Speaker 8 (31:38):
Right, Yeah, is that illegal disfinition?

Speaker 6 (31:43):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (31:43):
So here's the thing that goes back two hundred some
years basically keeping I don't know why they used that
language two hundred years ago about about it.

Speaker 6 (31:53):
I would have.

Speaker 5 (31:53):
Thought when they were going to amend Amendment one, they'd
go ahead to mend that part as well. But it's
not new language. It's just they're giving you what the
whole amendment says, and that is part of the amendment.
So I would say to you, whatever you decide to
vote on that, I wouldn't make that part see or

(32:13):
whatever it is. I wouldn't make that have an effect
because that's always been in the constitution.

Speaker 9 (32:20):
Goes they're not adding that.

Speaker 5 (32:24):
Yeah, they're not adding that language so they can in
the future ban people they don't think are smart. That
language has always been there. They probably should have used
this as an opportunity to change it, but they did not.
But it should whatever you decide to do on that.
I don't think that should really affect it.

Speaker 8 (32:43):
That's what I say.

Speaker 9 (32:44):
Thank you for the help, sir, No.

Speaker 5 (32:46):
Problem there you go. See you we're here answering your
amendment questions. It is weird though, that there's a part
of our constitution that talks about it.

Speaker 2 (32:52):
It is yea, if you're gonna amend it, why do
I just take that out?

Speaker 6 (32:55):
It feels like they should.

Speaker 5 (32:56):
Yeah, I mean, I'm you know, it feels like that's
what amendments are for. Let's go ahead and get rid
of this part where we say, uh but anyway, that's
uh the amendment.

Speaker 6 (33:08):
I will say this about our our folks in Kentucky.
I've had more of you ask me.

Speaker 5 (33:13):
About the language of these that tell That gives me
some hope that folks.

Speaker 6 (33:17):
Are reading it. I want to get it right in
care and want to get it right like the amount
of people who've written me in saying okay, amendment to
tell me exactly what it's saying, and then that that's encouraging.

Speaker 2 (33:27):
Right. Well, that's why I asked you yesterday. I want
to make sure if they are you trying to prohibit it,
you're trying to allow it. How is it worded to
knowing how I'm going.

Speaker 5 (33:34):
To vote No, if you don't want money to go
to private schools, Yes, if you'd like to give the
that's that's the basics of it.

Speaker 7 (33:42):
And reading the in my research this morning, it felt
like they tried to make number one as confusing as possible.

Speaker 6 (33:48):
Oh, no doubt.

Speaker 7 (33:49):
I had to read it like five times.

Speaker 5 (33:52):
There's one in Ohio that's about redistricting that I have
to read it five times and I'm still not sure.
It's about what side is what and I And they
do that on purpose. I think they're trying to I
think they're trying to confuse you so that people don't
really know what they're voting on. If your business owner
hr manager looking what ways to attract and retain top talent,

(34:14):
the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce understands ryan childcare is a
big part of that. Go to ky chamber dot com
slash childcare to learn more about how you can make
a difference for your team. Excuse me and your bottom line.
It is the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce. We'll take a
break and be right back here at Ksbar and Grill
On a beautiful election day.

Speaker 6 (34:32):
It's Kentucky Sports Radio walcome back.

Speaker 5 (34:36):
It is Kentucky Sports Radio here live at the KS
Bar and Grill. Big shout out yesterday all the fans
that went to the game. Great atmosphere in here before
the game as well. Nice to see everybody kind of
getting pumped getting ready for this for this season. I
really like it. Some questions coming in on the text machine.
All right's go one person rates Matt, Why are you

(34:57):
going to a movie tonight? Do you re really care
this much about who wins?

Speaker 6 (35:04):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (35:04):
I care, but the reason I goes You know, I
don't like waiting. The waiting is.

Speaker 4 (35:09):
The hardest part, said Tom Petty.

Speaker 6 (35:11):
Yeah, that's Tom.

Speaker 5 (35:12):
Petty, Like whoever wins, Like, I'm gonna get up tomorrow
and do the show and it'll like life goes on.

Speaker 6 (35:18):
The people who tell you the world is gonna end,
that's just not true. Yeah, Like I came in in
twenty sixteen and I did the show. Came in in
twenty twenty and did the show, and we'll do the
same thing tomorrow. It's just I don't like the waiting.

Speaker 5 (35:32):
It's the same thing the thirty minutes before a Final
four game start, when my team is playing I don't
like that. I don't like the nerves. Once it starts,
whether we win or lose, it's fine. I just don't
like the waiting.

Speaker 6 (35:45):
Ryan. It's I can't describe it that. That waiting is awful.

Speaker 2 (35:49):
And there's a chance that could drag out a day
or two. It could be even worse on you.

Speaker 6 (35:52):
No, I think we'll know, think, well, we will know.
I mean, I they will not call the election tonight,
but I think by the time we get up tomorrow morning,
we're gonna have a pretty good idea. Who not certain,
but probably.

Speaker 5 (36:07):
It was clear when we came in in twenty twenty,
even though they didn't call it until like Saturday, it
was clear. Biden didn't one. I think it's gonna be
like that tomorrow. If it's not, then it's not. But
the waiting, I just I hate the way. I can't imagine.
Can you imagine being one of those two people and
you just have to sit there all day?

Speaker 7 (36:27):
Yeah? What movie going to see?

Speaker 2 (36:30):
Though?

Speaker 7 (36:30):
What's the distract?

Speaker 6 (36:31):
There's a few choices you got you got conclave? Do
you know that movie?

Speaker 2 (36:36):
Never heard of it?

Speaker 5 (36:36):
That's about like all the bishops that get you know,
how the when a pope dies, the bishops get together
and they choose the pope.

Speaker 6 (36:43):
It's a movie about like that process because there's like
all this like backstabbing.

Speaker 2 (36:48):
And intrigue and all that. Well, they then they do
White Smoke out of the Chimney or something when they I.

Speaker 6 (36:53):
Think that's right. I think they do.

Speaker 5 (36:54):
Then the movie Saturday Night which was about the first
cast of Saturday Night Live. And then there's a movie
a Noora, which is like supposed to be the best movie,
like gonna.

Speaker 6 (37:03):
Win the Oscar for Best Picture. So those are one
my three choices. I'm not sure which one I'm gonna.

Speaker 2 (37:08):
Pick Sy Live movie that's not a good one.

Speaker 6 (37:10):
Well, I know that's the one you would pick, yeah,
But the other two are like supposed to be two
of the best movies the year.

Speaker 5 (37:14):
You're just not interested in that.

Speaker 2 (37:17):
You don't like things that are good? Yeah, you would go.

Speaker 5 (37:19):
Let me ask you a serious question, right, it's those
three or a chance to go watch Elf again?

Speaker 6 (37:24):
What do you do?

Speaker 2 (37:26):
Well? The Sign that Live movie, I think I would
definitely want.

Speaker 6 (37:28):
To go see that one, So you would pick that
over Elf again? Yeah, but you really like but.

Speaker 2 (37:32):
Elf would be second over Nora and Nora, Nora.

Speaker 7 (37:36):
What if Elf and you get a commemorative popcorn?

Speaker 2 (37:38):
Oh, and I get a little Elf stuffed doll maybe
as you leave. I love that movie.

Speaker 6 (37:46):
I know you do.

Speaker 5 (37:46):
You bring it up every year, Shannon. He loves Elf
so much. And I can see why. It's almost like
you are Elf.

Speaker 2 (37:54):
Elf musicals coming to the musical.

Speaker 4 (37:58):
See it, they're doing an El musical music.

Speaker 6 (38:03):
You're gonna go to the Elf musical if I can
get tickets. I bet you can.

Speaker 5 (38:07):
Yeah, I bet you'll be able to find a way
into the Elf musical.

Speaker 2 (38:12):
You want to go with me?

Speaker 6 (38:13):
No, I.

Speaker 7 (38:15):
Elf Musical is going.

Speaker 5 (38:18):
Let's see the children's theater and you're gonna go without children?

Speaker 2 (38:22):
Well, you know, I think it would be really enjoyable,
is it. It's not the opera House the children's theater.

Speaker 7 (38:30):
Uh, that's what I mean. The Offera House might have
an adults version, but I'm looking at one at the
children's theater.

Speaker 5 (38:35):
I think you definitely should go to Elf at the
children's theater.

Speaker 2 (38:39):
Just you.

Speaker 7 (38:40):
I bet you could get a roll in Elf the musical.

Speaker 6 (38:42):
I could see you playing Elf if we're being really honest.

Speaker 9 (38:46):
Or.

Speaker 2 (38:47):
You know, they've got like deleted scenes and behind the
scenes stuff.

Speaker 6 (38:52):
It deleted scenes. Yeah, you like to watch the Elf
deleted Yeah, okay, there's.

Speaker 2 (38:57):
One when they play hockey and he's knocking everybody, all
the little else off the ice, and none didn't make
it to the movie.

Speaker 6 (39:02):
I wonder why. Okay, all right, ridiculous.

Speaker 5 (39:08):
What do you think about the Louisville basketball crowd last night?

Speaker 7 (39:11):
Didn't look great. I've been surprised by that. Even he
took back to their version of madness whatever they call it,
card night, whatever it is. You know, he went out
and to give him credit, I feel like he's doing
what he needs to be doing. It was a little
corny going around campus and begging people, but you know what,
man's trying. And then no one showed up for that
exhibition game. Didn't have a good turnout last night. I

(39:33):
expected better.

Speaker 6 (39:35):
That's why I.

Speaker 7 (39:35):
Wonder is Louisville just forever, permanently broken? Well they ever?

Speaker 6 (39:38):
I mean, there was nobody like if they were taken
up for like.

Speaker 5 (39:41):
I made a tweet about it, and it was not
I promise you, Louisville fans, I actually was not trolling.
I don't understand why you're not there. There was a
time you all had the third best attendance in college basketball,
behind Kentucky and Syracuse, and now you don't go.

Speaker 6 (40:00):
It was the first game that the upper level was empty.

Speaker 7 (40:03):
Against a Kentucky school.

Speaker 5 (40:04):
Yeah, Like, I mean, I don't know if you saw
his interview after the game, but he was all but
begging people to come to the Tennessee game set. You know,
they played Tennessee Saturday, and he was like, you know,
Josh Hurd, the ad told me this place was gonna
be rocking and packed.

Speaker 6 (40:22):
Don't make Josh Hurt a liar, but he was like
essentially there was in his voice a little bit like
where are you people?

Speaker 2 (40:30):
Is it still just the Kenny hangover?

Speaker 6 (40:33):
I guess, but like I would have thought that would
have made them more likely to go.

Speaker 2 (40:38):
Yeah, they were so bad.

Speaker 5 (40:41):
And now they've brought in this guy who I don't
know if he's gonna be great, but he seems like
he's doing a good job.

Speaker 6 (40:46):
They won by a lot.

Speaker 5 (40:48):
Like they look like they're a lot better and you
and like they didn't and people go.

Speaker 6 (40:53):
Well, it's downtown, man, it's a Monday night.

Speaker 5 (40:55):
But it's always downtown, and it's always a Monday night,
Like it's not like this is different than in other years.

Speaker 7 (41:01):
That and you throw in they're having these big football
games with Brohm, who like, well there's a concert across
town or my kids got this.

Speaker 5 (41:11):
It's like what I mean what they literally were like
the Saint James arn't fair, which I do wonder is
that fan base, Like are they just broken?

Speaker 7 (41:21):
I think it's permanent.

Speaker 2 (41:23):
I mean it's sad to me, it really is.

Speaker 6 (41:25):
It would be sad to me if they're just broken football.

Speaker 2 (41:28):
You just beat Clemson at Clemson, Yeah, I mean you
should be very excited about your football program and go
support them.

Speaker 5 (41:34):
I was really really surprised to see that crowd last night,
and then I was even more surprised to see the
fans online taking up for that being the amount of
people there. Like if we had had that crowd last night,
I'd have been like, what is going on?

Speaker 6 (41:50):
Yeah, why aren't you all? Why aren't you all at
this game?

Speaker 2 (41:54):
Because he seems to be a guy like Pope. He's
very positive, very energetic.

Speaker 6 (41:57):
You know, it seems very similar to in a lot
of ways. So I if they will get a good Creek,
what do you have to talk about?

Speaker 2 (42:09):
I say, you are little That's why I can say
it

Speaker 6 (42:12):
