Quarterback It is number two Kentucky Sports Radio here live
in Salt Lake City. Look at all these people making
friends here amongst the Kentucky community, Mario is filming people,
uh Kentucky fans ask them questions. I don't know what
it is with these kids. I was saying, like, you know,
he's he's taking me into like learning the whole new
(01:19):
world of types of people.
Speaker 2 (01:20):
Shannon. Yeah, and uh, you know they put their camera.
Speaker 4 (01:24):
Right in your face, camera ready at all times.
Speaker 3 (01:28):
Camera's always on. They put it right in your nostrils,
like if you have nosehairs, the world's Got'm like, can
you back that camera up just a little bit.
Speaker 2 (01:37):
He's like, it's a vibe.
Speaker 3 (01:38):
He goes, that's a that's a vibe, And I'm like,
the vibe is showing every blemish on my skin.
Speaker 2 (01:42):
I don't know if that's the vibe, but that's that's the.
Speaker 5 (01:44):
Way my vibe is normally. You know, the further away
you are, the better the better you look.
Speaker 2 (01:48):
Right.
Speaker 4 (01:48):
Yeah, for me at least, I don't know about you.
Speaker 2 (01:50):
Yeah, he likes it to be right up in your face. Right.
Speaker 1 (01:53):
Well, I guess what he's doing videos. You need to
get close to get that audio. You can hear what
you know, get the audio a little better. I think
we got a clip on Mike we can use.
Speaker 3 (01:59):
Yeah, I think they can just back up, just just
a hair a f I've nine two eighth, twenty two
eighty seven. All right, So Kentucky got Kentucky and Gonzaga
play on Saturday. The Sprint is not out yet, that'll
come out probably sometime this afternoon. Gonzaga had blew out
Baylor by forty, looked like a juggernaut. Then they lost
(02:21):
to West Virginia and we're down fifteen most of the game,
which was kind of weird.
Speaker 2 (02:26):
Beat.
Speaker 3 (02:27):
San Diego State pounded them at San Diego State. San
Diego State then went and played well. So they've looked
great in every game except West Virginia, so maybe that
was just a fluke. How do you see it going
on Saturday, Drew?
Speaker 6 (02:40):
I think it's gonna just be a fun matchup because
Gonzaga is always at the top in point score. This year,
I think they're averaging ninety one. I don't know the
exact rankings at this moment, but you know, UK's right
up there with them. I think the two styles are
gonna be a lot of fun and make it a
good high scoring game.
Speaker 3 (02:54):
I think it's gonna be a ton of points. I
think so they play Pope.
Speaker 6 (02:58):
We even said this, they play a little Clemson inside,
they're a little stronger rebound well, they got some dudes
down load up and down and their dude, I feel
like their whole team we know them all. I mean,
we played Gonzaga, nim hard. You got Hickman, Hickman who
was committed to UK. People forget that we're facing a
former what's the bigs name the I think it's pronounced
k but it's spelled like, yes, he killed us last year.
Speaker 3 (03:21):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (03:21):
And then they added Battle from Arkansas who played really
well in Kentucky last year. All these guys average between
like eleven and thirteen points this The scoring is pretty
spread out, but a lot of familiar names that we've
seen in games before.
Speaker 3 (03:33):
Mark Pope said Ryan after the game said in his
press conference yesterday, I'm more confident in this Kentucky team
after the Clemson game than I was before. And his
argument was, they got down seven, they were getting out
worked out, rebound out everything, and yet they still came back,
took the lead and it was a one possession game
with three minutes to go. Do you agree with that attitude?
(03:56):
Are you more confident after the Clemson game.
Speaker 1 (03:58):
I'm gonna take the last two games, the Western Kentucky
and the Clemson game where they didn't have their best
shooting night, so they had to find a different way
to claw their way back into it. You know, they
did it against Western wh they weren't shooting very well,
and they really did it against Clemson though they didn't
win the game.
Speaker 5 (04:12):
I think Gonzaga is probably gonna try to take a
page out of Clemson's book and maybe try to be
physical with Kentucky if they have the guys to do that.
Gonzaga also shoots a lot of three point shots, so
I think it's gonna come down to who whose shots
are going down from behind the arc.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
Yeah, Kozaga talk about being physical. Bullied us last year
in Rough.
Speaker 3 (04:30):
Now grant it was a completely not one player is
the same, but they bullied us in Ruck last year.
I mean it was that was probably Kentucky's outside of Oakland,
worst performance of the year last year, and then we
kind of got run against them two years ago up here.
We haven't played well against him yet in this series.
Speaker 7 (04:51):
Yeah, it's gonna be interesting because obviously you're gonna have
to see my putt makes some changes, and maybe he
saw some things and wook some things out in that
Clemson game. Some guys we talked about maybe playing more
minutes than we expected. And hell, it will be interesting
to see the changes he makes against Gonzaga to come back,
you know, getting beating and rebounds, not being out to
score efficiently.
Speaker 2 (05:08):
So begin to be good to see the changes.
Speaker 3 (05:10):
Lamont Butler, according to Pope, his issues his ankle injury
is quote a little bit of a problem. Said he
didn't he didn't have an update on whether he would play.
You know, we always usually have a conversation about who's
the guy Kentucky can't lose. I'm kind of under the
opinion after watching this it's Lamont Butler. I mean, I
(05:32):
I don't think they can lose him if he doesn't
play Saturday.
Speaker 2 (05:39):
Can we win? You can?
Speaker 6 (05:41):
I mean, we we know with how Kentucky plays, they
get hot and just start throwing them in.
Speaker 2 (05:45):
They can get anybody. But I would think Nzaga would
be favorite.
Speaker 7 (05:49):
We're clearly already saying the effects of losing the ankle
coach too.
Speaker 4 (05:52):
Yeah, gosh, yeah, because that's a good point.
Speaker 2 (05:55):
If we had the ankle guy, Shanon, none of this
would be happening.
Speaker 4 (05:58):
I feel like by this time last year, we already
had at least a dozen turns.
Speaker 3 (06:01):
They came back, like with a Bennett he's read now
in Houston, who's our ankle guy?
Speaker 4 (06:06):
This year we went we don't have one.
Speaker 2 (06:09):
It was only Humby is our ankle guy. Yeah, that's right, we.
Speaker 4 (06:13):
Don't need an ankle guy. We'll be fine. But yeah,
up to your point. Without Lamont Butler, I don't feel
good about their chances.
Speaker 5 (06:18):
He's the guy that really put the team on his
back against Clemson, even though they didn't win, he was
the guy that made it close.
Speaker 1 (06:24):
I thought we were okay there at point guard. He
cursed the backup, but we saw he just didn't play
play well against Climpson. I still think he's got some
better basketball him. I think that was one well.
Speaker 3 (06:33):
I think I don't think he's always going to be
as bad as he was. But if you told me,
for instance, Lamont Butler was out for the year, I
would say, we've got to find a way to turn robinsoner.
Speaker 2 (06:42):
O Way into a point guard.
Speaker 3 (06:43):
Like I don't think you could go into the season
with current as your starting point guard and expect to
make a real run just because he's too inconsistent and
maybe most.
Speaker 2 (06:51):
Important, he just can't guard anybody. I mean, he's he's
not a good defit.
Speaker 7 (06:55):
Williams would put his hand up, to be honest. You know,
he could dribb a little bit more.
Speaker 3 (06:59):
I know, I don't want Williams away. I want him
dribbling less if possible. A right, let's go for Travis
Perry moving forward. No, Mark Pope said, you will see
more Travis Perry if he doesn't play. I mean that's
throwing him into the fire against Gonzaga on the road.
But there might be a chance if Butler's out, you
see some Travis Parry tomorrow.
Speaker 8 (07:18):
Well, when when.
Speaker 1 (07:19):
Kerr was out in the preseason, Travis was the backup
point guard and played a lot in some of the
exhibition games.
Speaker 3 (07:23):
All right, let's do our state football championships. I'm gonna
go in order of the games. Okay, all right, so
it starts at noon today on these radio stations. It
will start right after we go off the air. Raceland
versus Sayer, Private, Public, Rich, you know, Mountain all going
at each other. Raceland and Sayer. Raceland was all other
(07:46):
people be at the bar. But Sayer has a group
of people we know really well. This is like the
two facets of KSR personality, Raceland or Sayer. I think
the Chad Pennington his program that he has put on
his back and turned into some vol They finished the
undefeated season and get the get the trophy Rich.
Speaker 8 (08:05):
This is tough one for me.
Speaker 1 (08:06):
I wear my Racelin Rams Gilligan hat, you know, like
every day during the summer. But Jose I played seven
on seven with a lot of these kids on Sarah.
Speaker 8 (08:12):
I know them well. I'm going with Sarah.
Speaker 4 (08:14):
Also, who's the rich team again, Sarah. Yeah, they pay
for all their players. I'm going.
Speaker 2 (08:20):
That's not nice what you got.
Speaker 7 (08:21):
Coming from a published high school myself, where we you know,
we struggle to make you buy each day.
Speaker 2 (08:26):
I'm gonna go with Raceland.
Speaker 3 (08:27):
I'm going Raceland take the first of all, Raceland. How
should you abandon them? Ryan? They've given you T shirts,
They've given you hats. I gotta come to the bar. Yeah,
how can you in this time of need? How can
you in this title? How can you throw them away?
Speaker 1 (08:41):
Because they're not coming to the restaurant this year, And
I think the Sarah people will keep coming back full
That's why I'm going with Sarah.
Speaker 4 (08:46):
There's spend more money there, There's been more money here.
Speaker 2 (08:48):
Yeah, I'm gonna take Raceland.
Speaker 3 (08:49):
I think maybe the best game of the whole thing
is the second game today, Beachwood and Owensboro Catholic.
Speaker 2 (08:55):
This should be a battle. Max.
Speaker 3 (08:56):
I'll let you go first. This is the division your
team played in. You lost to Beechwood in the semi finals.
Speaker 2 (09:01):
Who you got.
Speaker 7 (09:02):
Yeah, it hurts that we're not there. This one kind
of brings a tar tomorrow. We should be there right
now instead of sitting here and so it like, but
that's okay.
Speaker 2 (09:09):
I think beach Woods are really really good for I mean,
both these.
Speaker 7 (09:11):
Teams are good. I think Beachwood's so good. They got
four dudes, they can fly. So I'm on Beachwood.
Speaker 2 (09:15):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (09:16):
If Beachwood's good enough to beat Max, how can you
not say they're gonna beat Onsborough Catholic.
Speaker 4 (09:21):
I got Beachwood.
Speaker 1 (09:22):
I've been saying out here. Osbrough Catholic man the best
player in the state. Though Brady Atwell, their quarterback, may
be the best player in the state.
Speaker 8 (09:27):
So I'm going on with Brough Catholic, going.
Speaker 6 (09:28):
On withsbro Catholic that radio show They're gonna break the
curse of going on five and election in at Kspar
this year.
Speaker 3 (09:34):
I'm disappointed because I's bor Catholic starting to think KSR
is bad new bad vibes and that's not true. But
they still when when they play, that's the best crowd
we get at ks Bar for a high school team.
Speaker 2 (09:47):
So I gotta go with alsbro Catholic radio old baits together,
get rid of the they did.
Speaker 3 (09:52):
Yes, Franklin County and Paduca Tillman. Who you got, h
Paduca Tilman.
Speaker 1 (09:58):
Franklin County sneaky good. I think the undefeated. I mean
they are really good. Paduka Tilman gotta get a lot
of kids cancer from Chattanooga.
Speaker 3 (10:04):
You throw that in every time you have to throw
in a shot at them about Chattanooga.
Speaker 8 (10:09):
The one of their tough kids has committed to UK.
I'm gonna go Paduca till.
Speaker 4 (10:12):
There's a Chattanooga Paduca pipeline.
Speaker 7 (10:14):
Paduca Tillman and Paduca Tilman might have spent more money
in the portal than Kentucky this year.
Speaker 2 (10:18):
So Padua Tillman, I'm.
Speaker 3 (10:20):
Gonna take Tillman. Union County never been to the state finals. Ever,
before playing the fighting Earl Jones is of Christian Academy
of Louisville.
Speaker 2 (10:29):
Who you got?
Speaker 7 (10:30):
Christian Academy in Louisville got beaten by the better Christian
Academy of Lexington this year, so I don't know.
Speaker 2 (10:35):
I'll take Union County in a big opposite.
Speaker 4 (10:37):
Give me a Union County as well.
Speaker 8 (10:38):
Man Union County. They're a wrestling school, they're not a
football school. I'm going cal and Earl Jones woo.
Speaker 6 (10:43):
I'm gonna have Travis Perry beaton Gonzaga and Union County
winning a title.
Speaker 2 (10:47):
It's gonna be great for.
Speaker 3 (10:48):
My per How can you not love a school that's
never been there.
Speaker 2 (10:52):
It used to be.
Speaker 3 (10:53):
Awful at football, built themselves into a program. I've picked
against Earl Jones every round and he writes me, angry, Earl,
I'm picking against you again. County takes the victory. Trinity
against Ryle. I don't know what r is. Ryle Public, Yeah, okay, Trinity, Ryle.
Speaker 2 (11:09):
Go with Ryle.
Speaker 4 (11:10):
I'm going with Trinity. Yeah, give me the Louslle school. Trinity.
Speaker 2 (11:13):
Ryle's really good. I'll take Ryl. I wouldn't pick Trinity
for anything. I'm taking Ryle.
Speaker 3 (11:21):
If you go back in history, there's a common theme
if there's a Louisville fan that's an awful, obnoxious.
Speaker 2 (11:26):
Person to me.
Speaker 3 (11:27):
He went to Trinity almost universally. There's a lot of
good people at Trinity. I'm just saying, y'all produce the
ones that are the nastiest. So I'll take Ryle.
Speaker 2 (11:36):
Cooper and Bowling Green Bowling Green for me.
Speaker 1 (11:39):
Give me, give me Bowling Green, two good quarterbacks. But
Cooper's got a really good quarterback. Oh Cooper, I'm going
Bowling Green. I'm going Cooper by. That quarterback's great, right,
He's his name is uh.
Speaker 4 (11:50):
Cooper Cooper hanging hanging with mister Cooper.
Speaker 2 (11:55):
So give me Cooper against right.
Speaker 3 (11:57):
I may end up getting every one of those games wrong,
but that's okay. Who's up next, Mike.
Speaker 2 (12:01):
Mike, Go ahead, Mike.
Speaker 3 (12:03):
All the games, by the way, will be on the
big screen at Chaos Bar. We cannot get them to
work on any other television. So if you come to
watch the games, make sure you can't listen. We do
what we can. We're not there. I'm doing the best
I can. You dead, but they are. We'll be on
the big screen at KOs Bar for every game except
when Kentucky plays Gonzaga Saturday night.
Speaker 9 (12:20):
What's next, Hey, guys, Uh yeah, I'm here. Uh yeah.
You kind of stole my thunder with the Travis Perry thing.
I've been having a hard time being convinced that Kirk
Crease is that much better than Travis Perry. But anyway, Matt,
(12:40):
as far as the SEC goes in basketball, it looks
to me that the SEC has just decided that they're
just going to be good at everything.
Speaker 2 (12:48):
That's true.
Speaker 9 (12:49):
I think they're about Yeah, they're they're by far the
best basketball conference this year. I don't think that's going
to be an outlier. I think most they're going to
be a good conference. They and it's the best coaching
I've seen probably ever top to bottom on these teams.
So they got the money to pay guys. But anyway,
(13:11):
that's all I wanted to say.
Speaker 3 (13:12):
Appreciate, Carl, I think you hit it. The SEC has
made the decision. I can tell you there was an
initiative by the Conference commissioners, by the conference ads. They
said we're gonna take the four major sports, which the
way they look at it in college athletics is basketball, football,
women's basketball and baseball, and they said we're gonna make
(13:34):
the SEC the best in all four sports, and I
think they've done it. They've always been the best in football,
They've always been the best in baseball. They have in
recent years become the best in women's basketball. The only
thing left was men's basketball, and I think they're there.
Speaker 2 (13:51):
I mean this, you could make a strong argument.
Speaker 3 (13:54):
That the SEC this year is the best it's ever
been in battle say that there are aven teams ranked
right now, eleven and one of them isn't even the
school John Caliperry coaches, right, so throw them in there.
Speaker 2 (14:09):
That's twelve.
Speaker 3 (14:10):
You got twelve, and then you got a team like
Vandy who's not ranked, and what eight and one, seven.
Speaker 2 (14:16):
Eight to one.
Speaker 3 (14:17):
I mean, I'm not sure any but South Carolina is
probably the only team in the conference it's not very good.
Speaker 2 (14:22):
And even they beat the ACC team they were playing.
Speaker 5 (14:25):
Only one team in the conference has three losses. Everybody
else's South Carolina.
Speaker 3 (14:30):
I think this is ryan the best it's ever been.
This year is a gauntlet. I think every time you
win a game on the road, you should throw a party,
because I think this is gonna be the hardest it
has ever.
Speaker 2 (14:42):
Been in the SEC.
Speaker 3 (14:43):
I think the SEC is gonna get eleven, maybe twelve
teams in the tournament.
Speaker 1 (14:47):
This is by far the best it's been from top
to bottom, I think since I've been around, and there's
gonna be the Probably the winning team may have four
losses in the conference.
Speaker 8 (14:55):
First place team have three or four losses.
Speaker 3 (14:57):
This is the SEC has decided going to be the
best at everything.
Speaker 2 (15:01):
Yep, and they've done it.
Speaker 7 (15:02):
We played a game in the car yesterday of just
messing around about like where you'd want to go if
you were a five star quarterback whatever, and we all said,
you know, if we were the best point god in
the world outside of Stanford, We're going to the SEC.
Speaker 3 (15:15):
Outside of Stanford. That's exactly what you would do. We'll
take a break, be right back here in Salt Lake City.
Speaker 2 (15:20):
This is KSR work back. It is Kentucky Sports Video.
Speaker 3 (15:25):
If I'm nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven,
the text machine is seven seven two seven seven four
five two five four one person rights Matt, Matt. If
he's on the phone so much getting stuff done? What
about Max for GM of you UK football? If all
we needed was Australians, I'd pick you.
Speaker 2 (15:42):
Yeah, Unfortunately a few more.
Speaker 7 (15:43):
I was gonna nominate my good friend Miles Butler Mosses
in the County Finance.
Speaker 2 (15:46):
You know, the former player would be good. Uh.
Speaker 3 (15:50):
By the way, one the thing I want to say, uh, well,
because let me read this comment first. The woman says, Matt,
it looks like you might have been right. You were
the first person I heard say that person who shot
the healthcare ceo might have had a family member not
have coverage. Some are suggesting that's correct.
Speaker 2 (16:06):
Now.
Speaker 3 (16:08):
To me, that was the only reason I could think
of you would shoot the CEO of a healthcare company.
But I will say this, I'm extremely, extremely disappointed in
people that I otherwise think normally would agree with on
this idea that like, there are a lot of people
Shenning celebrating this dude getting killed. It's unbelievable to me, Like,
(16:33):
have we just become so deranged about our beliefs that we're.
Speaker 2 (16:38):
Gonna root on?
Speaker 3 (16:40):
Listen, the American health care industry is got a zillion
problems the way I mean, I could go off on
American healthcare system for hours, but none of that justifies
killing a man in the street for walking in a
building and being like, well, I don't like the US
healthcare system, so I'm gonna start assassinating people that I mean,
(17:02):
people who claim to be have good hearts and all that,
saying I can't believe the people I see saying that.
Speaker 4 (17:09):
I've seen a lot of people online.
Speaker 2 (17:10):
Saying celebrating this man being murdered.
Speaker 5 (17:13):
And I don't know this guy, I don't know what
his morals were, but either way, I don't want to
ever celebrate somebody just getting shot down in the street
here in our country.
Speaker 2 (17:21):
If you, I'm gonna be very careful.
Speaker 3 (17:24):
I say this because I don't want to like you know,
there are things that are happening by that you know
which side I generally tend to lean on. There are
teams that happen on the other side that very much
disappoint me and I. But when we then become doing
the same stuff, then what in the world's the point?
Speaker 2 (17:43):
Like if if this whole world is just gonna be
I don't like you. I don't like you, so I'm
gonna kill you.
Speaker 3 (17:48):
I don't like you, so I'm gonna kill you, Like
We're just gonna descend into madness. The idea that you
would celebrate a dude walking down the street and getting murdered.
Speaker 2 (17:56):
To me, Ryan is awful. I don't care. I don't
care what his job is.
Speaker 1 (18:00):
It's very sad to know that that's happening. You know,
violence is never the answer. This dude with somebody's husband,
somebody's dad, somebody's grandpa probably.
Speaker 8 (18:07):
You know, there's still there's.
Speaker 3 (18:08):
People putting the other healthcare CEOs putting their pictures up
and where they live like that. That's terrible. Do our
healthcare CEOs make too much money? Heck yeah they do.
Do I think people get like, you know, pay for
insurance and get screwed. Yes, you don't go shooting people
in the streets, like come on, yeah, I mean, just
cold blood and murder right in the middle of New
(18:29):
York City. And I'm with everyone here. The reaction has
been a little surprised.
Speaker 2 (18:33):
I've been amazed and otherwise.
Speaker 3 (18:36):
Seemingly normal people yeah like you saying well, I'm not
gonna mourn for him.
Speaker 2 (18:41):
I'm mourn for the people who like you don't.
Speaker 3 (18:45):
It feels like I'm in a matrix world where people
are celebrating murder on the streets.
Speaker 2 (18:49):
It's chucking.
Speaker 7 (18:50):
But uh, the point of that though, if you looked
around BYU's campus with some of the smiles that you say,
it would be impossible to find a serial killer.
Speaker 2 (18:58):
They're just old us. He'll kill a.
Speaker 4 (19:00):
Small They all drink milk. I saw them all. They
were all drinking.
Speaker 7 (19:03):
All of them had small where it's like, you've definitely
killed someone, you've killed someone, you've killed ten people.
Speaker 3 (19:09):
I don't know that we should say that about an
entire game. They were very nice times. I'm wearing a
b wash shirt. They were very nice. You think they
were invited to the Winter Ball. Maya was walking around
just getting invited to events. It was I wonder if
they thought he was a heathen or something like. They
just kept inviting him to church prayer groups.
Speaker 2 (19:27):
And all this.
Speaker 1 (19:27):
We did ask some like serious questions, like at the
Chick fil A, do they have Coca cola pepsi?
Speaker 2 (19:32):
They did?
Speaker 3 (19:32):
They did because I didn't know. Yeah, I didn't know
if Mormons could drink caffeine, But apparently they can because
they had it in the in the coat, in the
McDonald's and the Chick fil A. The Dike Cokes like
a like a gray area there I think d coke
is a gray area, is it? They saw it so?
Speaker 2 (19:49):
Uh well that I just did on I did on
Field reported like brood tea and browed coffee. Oh wait, man,
you can drink cold caffeine but not hot caffeine.
Speaker 4 (19:59):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (20:00):
Interesting. Interesting, I didn't realize the Actually I didn't realize.
God cared with it was hot or cold.
Speaker 4 (20:05):
But don't he cared? Hey, don't nuke it, God, God's watching.
Speaker 2 (20:09):
Not put the microwave. You do it? Who's next? Blanding? Blanding?
What's up? Blanding?
Speaker 10 (20:17):
Hey, Matt?
Speaker 9 (20:17):
Hello, Happy safe travels to you guys.
Speaker 3 (20:20):
And I got two really quick things. Number one, one
of you guys posted on social media the big why
out there by you.
Speaker 2 (20:27):
That was beautiful.
Speaker 3 (20:28):
I think yeah should take that down and put a
picture with the belt draped over his shoulder.
Speaker 2 (20:36):
Number was really that was really beautiful.
Speaker 3 (20:39):
By the way the b yu y up against the
mountain right there, I thought that was very very cool.
But go ahead, Well, I think it'd look better with
a picture of the only real world champion. And number two, uh,
I wanted to ask Max if he thought Linda Kolslowski
on on Crocodile Dundee was hot or not hot or
not one of the things you don't know. And I
(20:59):
appreciate the ca sir. You hate being asked about Crocodile
Dundee about more than anything that right, that and kangaroo Jack.
Speaker 4 (21:06):
But you brought up Crocodile Dundee when we were talking
about the Hats.
Speaker 7 (21:09):
Yeah, well, I knew that that's the only movie people
associated get across.
Speaker 3 (21:15):
You've never really, never really liked that. I want to
give you just an example of sort of parts of
this drive, that drive from Vale to like, is it
Green River, Colorado where we got off the Interstate. I
think so that drive got to be one of the
most beautiful drives in America. Yep, I mean it is
up there. That drive from Vale to Green River, where
(21:37):
you're going through the rocky mountains and the mountains and
the cliffs.
Speaker 2 (21:40):
Around you is beautiful. But we had a little time,
so I was.
Speaker 3 (21:44):
Looking trying to figure out something we could see, and
I saw that somewhere through there were the remnants of
the nineteen seventy Wichita State football team crash. Everybody knows
the Marshall team crash, but a lot of people don't
know that the Witch a state football team crashed like
fifty one people.
Speaker 2 (22:03):
Only ten people survived.
Speaker 3 (22:05):
Right the part of where the crash is is in
an area that is so hard to get to that
they have basically left most of the remnants there of
the plane, like the pieces of the plane, the things
that were on the plane, and so you can go
to it, it's like an hour and a half hike.
I didn't really think this group was up for it,
(22:27):
so we didn't do it. But apparently it's one of
the only, maybe the only scene in the United States
where a plane is crashed and it's kind of been
left like it was so pieces of the plane are
still all over the place. And I was like, it
is so odd in our society to think there are
(22:47):
places in this country that are so hard to get
to that only a handful of people have ever in
the history been there, and that where that plane crash
is one of them.
Speaker 1 (22:58):
You know, we went through some really remote areas where
it was hundreds and hundreds of miles of nothing but land,
and then we meant hundreds and hundred miles of nothing
but mountains.
Speaker 3 (23:07):
But think about they just left the stuff. They They
were like it would be too hard to get all
of this stuff out there. They just left it. That's
kind that. I don't know what it was about that story,
but that was really crazy to me thinking about as
we were driving through. We'll take a break, be right back.
This is Kentucky Sports Radio quarter Mac. It is Kentucky
Sports Radio. If I'm nine two eight oh twenty two
(23:27):
eighty seven, one person says Mac, I would call Max
the crocodile punter.
Speaker 2 (23:32):
What does he think about that?
Speaker 7 (23:34):
Yeah, someone a made a graphic of that at some point. Again,
let's just leave the Austrange chucks.
Speaker 2 (23:39):
You just don't but you just don't like it. I
just hear it all the time. You do. Hear it
all the time. I've been around you a lot.
Speaker 3 (23:45):
Every time you say Australian, somebody says kangaroo or good
day mate, you get it, boomeray.
Speaker 2 (23:51):
You get a little annoyed by it. Yeah, it's not
the greatest juction.
Speaker 7 (23:53):
You said you had something you wanted to say. Oh,
you said, you go to text. I go to text.
Actually during the break, it was from your beautiful mother, Karen.
She said, was just listening to the segment about the
plane crash and how remnants are just left in places
and never picked up.
Speaker 2 (24:08):
She said, well, actually, that reminds me of Mett's place.
Speaker 7 (24:10):
When I walked into Thanksgiving, I found two hundred dit
coke boddles that have just been left in.
Speaker 8 (24:14):
Places that apparently it's just really hard to throw out.
Speaker 2 (24:17):
Good So, Karen, thank you for that text.
Speaker 3 (24:19):
That was my mom did not say that is that is?
That is very rude on your part. I was just
saying a minute ago, there's a guy here from Prestonsburg,
and he brought his girlfriend and I guess she's from
here in Utah, and she's very beautiful.
Speaker 2 (24:35):
And I said, Prestonsburg, Eastern Kentucky's.
Speaker 3 (24:37):
Spitting game everywhere, Ryan Lemon, Once you get Prestonsburg out
in the world, you can't stop it.
Speaker 8 (24:43):
Hey, you don't. There's something about the magic and the
charm of the boys in the mountain.
Speaker 2 (24:47):
That's right.
Speaker 3 (24:48):
And he comes to Utah he still got the Prestonsburg mustache,
like he's still I love it. Keep you do that
fifteenth region all the way out here in Salt Lake City.
Speaker 2 (24:57):
There you go, Prestonsburg pig and a poke, right.
Speaker 8 (25:00):
Taking a poke at Prestonsburg.
Speaker 3 (25:01):
Yeah, that's exactly right, but twenty eighty seven, Who's next?
Speaker 2 (25:06):
Tory? Tory? Go Tory.
Speaker 11 (25:10):
Hey, good morning fellows, how are you uh good?
Speaker 2 (25:13):
Good?
Speaker 11 (25:13):
Thanks for asking. So Matt I called. I called a
couple of weeks ago after the Texas Longhorns on the
postgame show. I was pretty upset.
Speaker 3 (25:21):
Uh.
Speaker 11 (25:22):
I'm typically a podcast listener and I was listening to
yesterday's show on the drive to Louisville right now, and uh,
I know. I called Stoops. I said he created a
culture of oops, like like Weston eyes and confidence. And
I heard the story about the GA that supposedly a
quarterback the entire line respected and liked. And I know
(25:42):
Stoops is a gut guy, and it just seems like
a gut check to bring that guy in and kind
of keep that going because if it's hard to earn
the respect of your O line, and he did that.
But maybe Stoops is more of a liver guy and
and the GA just didn't fit in to Bourbon.
Speaker 3 (26:02):
Yeah, listen, I have to say, and I appreciate the call.
The there is a there's a trend online of a
lot of people because they don't like Stoops's coaching and
don't think Stoops should be the coach for football reasons,
(26:22):
which I think, while is a completely valid point, there
is a trend now to try to destroy them personally
based on where the stuff person I think that's a
terrible trend. These I will say this, and I've said
it a lot, These are human beings. Okay, yeah they're coaches.
Yeah they're paid a lot of money. But like the
(26:44):
way people are talking about especially Mark, I just don't
think it's fair to him. You can totally believe that
Mark shouldn't be the coach at Kentucky. I think that's
a reasonable opinion. I think it's a reasonable opinion to
think he should. But I there's this trend to kind
of like, let's just destroy him personally, and I think
(27:07):
that's a terrible trend, you know, and I.
Speaker 2 (27:12):
It's not.
Speaker 3 (27:13):
It's honestly, to me, not fair those First of all,
a lot of this stuff saying is just false. But secondly, like,
what what is your point? What is your point? You know,
ultimately he's gonna be the coach at Kentucky and even
if he were to leave, he's been the coach at Kentucky.
What are you trying to do? So Drew, I that
(27:34):
thing that is happening with the coaches. Do I think
there were times in the past that those dudes have
made mistakes? Yes, I do. Do I think that then
just deciding let's just ruin them. That's that's the behavior
that you don't want to get because this is you, guys.
Are people are treating this, This is sports. This is
(27:55):
not ruin people's lives. Yeah, I know you're talking about
those in Actually you just see it start to snowball.
Like I saw someone post a picture that was really old,
but they tried to present it as current as if stupid. Well,
there's people posted pictures all the time that are from
you know, two years ago, and people are like, this
is what it was the night before the Louisville game
like that.
Speaker 2 (28:13):
That's that's not fair to me.
Speaker 6 (28:15):
They're just trying to create a narrative to bring him
even further down. I mean, he's in enough hot water
with how the football season went. I don't feel like
we have to make things up to just try to
make it look worse.
Speaker 5 (28:24):
Ninety nine percent of the time, this Kentucky fan base
is the best fan base in the world, but when
they turn on you, they can also be the worst,
especially if you're the coach for you know, football or basketball,
because you're under that magnifying glass.
Speaker 4 (28:37):
It's not fair to them personally, it's not I hate it.
Speaker 1 (28:40):
When we do it to our politicians. We do it
to our actresses, our singers. Man, you know, you like
him or not, is he a good coach or not?
It's gonnah to do what he does in his personal life.
Speaker 2 (28:50):
Yeah, I mean we talked about it before with the CEO.
Speaker 7 (28:52):
I mean, you come in all you want about he's
football coaching, whether you think he's good about or whatever.
But I just think leave the personal stuff to the
side and just be the better person.
Speaker 2 (29:01):
Let's do some draft kings.
Speaker 3 (29:03):
You go to Draft Kings, you could bet five win five,
one hundred and fifty dollars. Let's do some college football
big time game picks. All these all these games for
the conference championships, all of them are surprisingly really close spreads,
at least a lot of the big ones. I'll go
through on the ones on Saturday. Iowa State, Arizona State.
(29:24):
Arizona State's a point and a half favorite Big twelve title.
Speaker 5 (29:27):
I go Iowa State, I go Iowa State. We just
went through Iowa. I feel very connected with the state
of Iowa. I'm going to Iowa State.
Speaker 2 (29:32):
Yeah, that's hope of Arizona State. The fans. Don't rush
the field too early and let the game be done.
Speaker 3 (29:36):
I'm gonna state Iowa State as well. We're look at this,
but almost you do. You take Arizona's stats, all right,
So one for Arizona State. Let's go Clemson SMU SMU
a two and a half point favorite.
Speaker 2 (29:47):
We're just are we doing the spread here? I'll say
Clemson covers that, then.
Speaker 4 (29:51):
I'm going Clemson SMU SMU.
Speaker 2 (29:53):
I can't stand Clemson winning.
Speaker 3 (29:55):
I can't stand Clemson either, but they're gonna win. I'm
taking Clemson. My pick of the year is Oregon over
Penn State. So give me Organ's a three and a
half point favorite. I'll bet everything I got on Oregon. Yeah,
which means bet Penn State.
Speaker 6 (30:10):
I would not put money on James Franklin whatsoever. I'll
any team against Pennsvilkel Oregon.
Speaker 2 (30:14):
Money lines are better than that.
Speaker 8 (30:16):
He never wins the big game. This is a huge
game Oregon.
Speaker 5 (30:18):
I was about to say Oregon until you called it
the luck of the century. I'm going Penn State.
Speaker 2 (30:22):
Okay, exactly.
Speaker 7 (30:24):
No, I think Oregon's aren't going to go through unefeated.
I think Penstead actually wins this fun uh three four
o'clock tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (30:30):
Georgia Texas Texas a two and a half point favorite.
I like Georgia by the way, I'm doing a Clemson
Oregon Georgia parlay.
Speaker 2 (30:37):
Who do you like? I'll take Texas.
Speaker 8 (30:39):
I can't bet against Georgia ever.
Speaker 7 (30:41):
I gotta go Georgia SACA. So even it's so hot,
I mean, you can't beat two table. He can't beat
a team twice to may. So Texas wins. All right,
there you go. That's your draft Kings picks. Who's next job?
Speaker 8 (30:51):
Phillip tonight?
Speaker 2 (30:52):
Who cares go Philip? Go ahead? I just kid West yet? Yeah?
Western Place? Tonight? Go ahead? Who are.
Speaker 10 (31:06):
Have you guys? Leave Salt Lake or you're going across
the lake, or you're gonna come up through southern Idaho here?
Speaker 2 (31:10):
Yeah, we're coming up. So that's a good question.
Speaker 3 (31:12):
We were gonna stop in Boise tonight, but there was a
group vote. We're now going to a place called La
Grande Organ.
Speaker 4 (31:19):
It's big.
Speaker 3 (31:20):
We're staying in La Grande Organ. I don't know where
that is. I don't know.
Speaker 2 (31:25):
One thing there, never heard of it.
Speaker 3 (31:27):
If any of you know anything about La Grande Organ,
let me tell us. But to get to Seattle and
time for the pregame, it feels like that's what we
have to do. So no, we're going north across to
uh La grande Organ, which means.
Speaker 2 (31:42):
The big lagrain organ lagrained.
Speaker 3 (31:46):
Yeah, okay, never mind.
Speaker 2 (31:47):
So wait a minute.
Speaker 3 (31:48):
You all pronounced grande grained, so they just decided they
just take the e.
Speaker 2 (31:56):
And not pronounce it. That's a very organ thing to do.
Speaker 3 (32:00):
Well, we're chas bar and grill with a knee on
our grill, so it's true.
Speaker 2 (32:05):
Shut up, all right, go ahead, sir.
Speaker 10 (32:10):
Yeah, there's a casino there. I think that's about the
only thing, all.
Speaker 3 (32:14):
Right, the best Western never mind, Now, I know what
we're doing fair enough.
Speaker 10 (32:23):
And uh there's a lot of construction between like Burley
and Jerome and Idaho and the Idaho State Police don't
play games, so.
Speaker 2 (32:33):
Okay, I'll try to keep it eighty four and below.
All right. Thank you for the advice, sir, Yeah, thanks,
you appreciate it. I appreciate it.
Speaker 3 (32:45):
Called today is an exciting day for me, though, I
will say when we cross the state line in Oregon,
I will have been to fifty states today.
Speaker 2 (32:53):
So I'm very excited.
Speaker 3 (32:55):
We're gonna pull over when we cross the state line.
I'm gonna take a picture. This will be my fiftiest date.
The last state that I have ever h never been
to or will cross it in today and get to
Oregon and I will have been to all fifty states.
Speaker 2 (33:09):
I'm very excited about that.
Speaker 4 (33:10):
We've got to celebrate.
Speaker 3 (33:11):
How many people have been to all fifty states? Any
of you all been to all fifty states? You have
nobody anyone. I don't know how many people in the country.
Speaker 2 (33:19):
Have done it. But I will make that that will
happen for me to.
Speaker 4 (33:22):
Do you get like a certificate from the Supreme Court.
Speaker 3 (33:25):
The Supreme Court, the Supreme Court. Yeah, Chief Justice Roberts
sits out, congrats and is here about the creed. You've
been to all fifty states.
Speaker 4 (33:34):
Should get some sort of a war shit.
Speaker 2 (33:36):
I agree. Why don't they give you one?
Speaker 1 (33:38):
I don't know they You need to get out and
touch the ground. So you were, you know, set foot
in Oregon. And I think tonight at the casino, I
think we're partying tonight. There's a big party region the party.
Speaker 7 (33:48):
I wish they had done to fifty on the roulette table.
We could have put it down. Yeah, that's true. I'll
put something. If there's something fifty, I'll do it.
Speaker 4 (33:55):
Dinners on that trip States, I think dinners should be come.
Speaker 2 (34:00):
Thank you. That's a good way.
Speaker 3 (34:01):
Hey, if the relief fauvel on your water heater fails
pouring gallons of water in your basement, or you have
an electrical shortage in your office, you might have a
major damage. Go to serf Pro, the one shop stop
when disaster strikes. One hundred surf PO. That's sc r
V p r O dot com. One hundred serf Pro.
No matter what happens, we're here to help. It is
surf Pro. Hope you don't need us, but if you do,
(34:22):
we're there. One eight hundred surf PO franchise is independently
owned and operated. We'll take a break. Final segment before
we head off to Seattle. This is Kentucky Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (34:32):
Water back.
Speaker 3 (34:33):
It is Kentucky Sports Radio. Apparently they're clothing optional. Hot
springs in Idaho on the way.
Speaker 8 (34:39):
I'm in, I.
Speaker 4 (34:42):
Need to hear we could Yeah, we take our soap.
Speaker 3 (34:45):
If anybody sends which one that would be a good
that'd be a good final stop on the way there.
Speaker 4 (34:49):
Think a good way to just put a bow on it.
Put a bow on all the jump in there and naked.
Speaker 2 (34:53):
Yeah, why not?
Speaker 4 (34:57):
Yeah? You need your cowboy hats, clothing, hot.
Speaker 3 (34:59):
Spring, I know, just let us know which one. One
person writes, Matt, do you count flying through a city
as having been in a state?
Speaker 2 (35:07):
No? No, no, no, you have to.
Speaker 3 (35:09):
Have actually spent I go even further, you have to
have spent some amount of time walking the city. I'm
not gonna say you have to spend the night, but
you have to have been in the city kind of
moved around. And then that's fifty and I I would
say I've been to forty five twice, but I haven't.
Speaker 2 (35:29):
I've only been to I've been to Alaska twice. I've
only been to why once.
Speaker 3 (35:33):
There may be one, maybe Montana once, but I'm in it,
you know, and then Oregon will be once. But you
have to, in my opinion, have to have Shannon walked
around and being there for it to count.
Speaker 5 (35:43):
Well, we're gonna do it tonight and uh, best Western
you ready for it.
Speaker 4 (35:47):
Don't tell people I've already booked it for us.
Speaker 2 (35:50):
Oh did you No? Of course no, there's not a
whole lot of places to stay in the look.
Speaker 4 (35:54):
I mean we might need some company.
Speaker 2 (35:55):
Yeah, will have rooms. Right, I'm twenty to eighty seven.
Who's up next? Ricky? Oh, Ricky?
Speaker 3 (36:03):
Before we go, rookie, Ricky, let me say real quick tomorrow, okay,
tomorrow for the pregame show.
Speaker 2 (36:08):
Uh, we have we have found a place for it.
Speaker 3 (36:11):
And since I can't find it right now, you go
ahead and talk Ricky, and then I'll have it after
the call.
Speaker 12 (36:18):
That's first time color Who are And there's a there's
a couple of days I'd like to say. First, I
want to keep it real for you. Take you basketball.
I've been taking fans to meet how to grasshopper. I
think the a SEC. I think we finished fourth or fifth.
They first and second at a time with Auburn and
Tennessee Alabama third huts and floridath fourths and fifth takes
(36:44):
the sixteen tick your team. And I got a question
for you, Matt, which team do you think can go
eight and twelve or not live in a SEC and
win and get it into the Big Dance.
Speaker 3 (36:56):
Well, we only play eighteen games. Yes, you could go
eight and ten and the SEC and make the tournament.
Depending on who you beat and who beats you and
what you did in the non conference, you could. This
is a year Ryan where you could have a losing
record in the SEC and still make the NCAA tournament.
Speaker 1 (37:11):
Yes, it doesn't happen very often, but I think this
year the SEC's so strong it could happen.
Speaker 2 (37:15):
This is the one year.
Speaker 3 (37:15):
Now you have to get some wins against the good
teams in order to do it, But Drew, I certainly
think it's plausible.
Speaker 6 (37:20):
I agree, and I'm looking forward to you know, uh,
the SEC tournament matters again, had mattered in a while.
Speaker 2 (37:25):
Of all the year, it's gonna have the teams this year.
This would gonna be.
Speaker 3 (37:30):
If you if you want to go to an SEC tournament,
this is gonna be the year there're gonna be teams
playing on Wednesday that are multiple teams that are really good.
Speaker 2 (37:38):
First of all, eight teams play on Wednesday this year.
Speaker 3 (37:41):
Yeah, not just four, There'll be eighteen, ninth to sixteenth.
There will be multiple teams Shannon in the NCAA Tournament
playing on Wednesday of the SEC tournament.
Speaker 5 (37:51):
This tournament of this conference is just gonna beat up
on each other. I mean, that's gonna be, like you said,
a lot of teams that are really good that have
a lot of.
Speaker 4 (37:58):
Losses in the conference. It's just the way it's gonna be.
Speaker 3 (38:01):
Cowboy hat will be on, right, Cowboy hat on. Nashville's
gonna get a lot of cowboy hat. Yeah, I'm gonna
have my shoes by then. It's gonna be ready to go.
Speaker 2 (38:09):
All right.
Speaker 3 (38:11):
Buckley's is the name of the place. So for those
of you in Seattle, Buckley's, which is apparently two blocks
from the arena, uh, Buckley's on First Avenue, will be
where we are doing the pregame show tomorrow. It will
start for those of you listening at seven thirty Eastern,
but that will be four thirty in Seattle, and we
are gonna be in the upstairs area, so there's an
(38:33):
upstairs in the downstairs. We will be upstairs at Buckley's
in Seattle for the pregame show, So come on by,
and we might even be there for the postgame, depending
on the setup and and all that. All right, who's next, Skyler, Skyler.
Speaker 13 (38:47):
Go ahead, Skyler, Dan Davis shout out to Cole Bremer. Hey,
hey guys, he usually call into the postgame show. I
had a friend bring up something we kind of the
theme of your second hour has been the dehumanization that
we all often see on display and culture, and we
have seen with the coaching staff. I had a friend
(39:08):
bring up a good point about what Soups has walked
through in the past several years that might maybe ease
some of the fan base. I mean, he's lost John Schlarman,
he's dealt with relational turmoil inter personally, and he's lost
his mom. And I just wonder what the role of
totally wonder what the.
Speaker 3 (39:28):
Role that's post that. That what you just said, And
I'm glad you said that. In four years, he's lost
one of his best friends in Schlarman, he's gotten a divorce,
his kids are on his kids are on the other
side of the country.
Speaker 2 (39:40):
And he just lost his mother.
Speaker 8 (39:42):
That's tough.
Speaker 2 (39:43):
That's a tough thing. Now, that's not an excuse.
Speaker 3 (39:46):
That doesn't mean you can't criticize the coaching, but it
also means I would say, give the do to break personally.
Just give him a break, That's all I'm saying. Like,
I I think that the criticize every one of the
things that happened with cal as he took professional criticisms. Personally,
I thought there was no reason to do that, but
I was always very careful to never criticize him as
(40:08):
a person. I would always say he's a good guy,
and I genuinely think he is a good guy.
Speaker 2 (40:13):
I would say to you when it comes.
