Welcome to an hour or two of Kentucky Sports Radio
presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Speaker 3 (01:04):
Now Here's Matt Jones.
Speaker 4 (01:06):
Walking back in his Kentucky sports radio. I have number two,
Matt Jones, Ryan liv and shann and the dude.
Speaker 5 (01:11):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (01:11):
For people who are asking, by the way, Drew is uh.
Speaker 6 (01:15):
In terms of equipment, I have something at my house.
Speaker 4 (01:19):
Uh. Ron, we have the official equipment, which Ryan has
his house, and Drew can't get to Ryan's house.
Speaker 6 (01:24):
So that's why Drew's not on. He's fine.
Speaker 4 (01:26):
Uh. Has hebody heard from Mario? You know he's not
letting the snow a lot? Is he good?
Speaker 5 (01:31):
He was texting me, He was texting, so he must
be all right.
Speaker 4 (01:34):
Right. I have no idea where Max is. Max just
disappeared for like two weeks.
Speaker 7 (01:40):
I he is.
Speaker 4 (01:41):
He like he's still in the States. Okay, Okay, he
just was like, yeah, I'm gonna go away for a
few weeks for a while. Yeah, but he's not there now,
so I don't know where he's just left.
Speaker 6 (01:53):
Yeah, I don't know. I don't know where he is.
Speaker 3 (01:55):
So I have an idea Seattle yet.
Speaker 4 (02:00):
Could be here. We'll just leave that there. Fine, that
was you, Just for the record, Max. That was Shannon
that said that, not me. A five nine two eight
oh twenty two eighty seven on the text machine seven
seven two four five two five four What person rights? Matt?
Speaker 6 (02:20):
My mom listens to this show.
Speaker 4 (02:22):
She texted me that she may turn off the second
hour because she gets so mad that you and Shannon
give Ryan a hard time. She thinks you're too mean
to him. I'd like to know whether or not you
and Shannon think you're too mean, and whether or not
Ryan thinks he's too mean.
Speaker 3 (02:39):
I don't think we're too mean.
Speaker 6 (02:40):
Oh, I know Shannon's answer right there.
Speaker 2 (02:42):
I'm gonna get the a hard time because he doesn't
know what he drives. Yeah, I feel like that's not like.
I feel like that's common knowledge. Everybody knows what they drive.
Speaker 4 (02:49):
Ryan.
Speaker 6 (02:50):
Do you think we're too hard on you?
Speaker 5 (02:51):
No, because I get it. We're like well, like I
said many times, we're just brothers man, and you just
pick on each other all the time. So yeah, I'm
not offended by it.
Speaker 4 (03:00):
Here's what I would say to people who say that
every I don't know about. I don't know how women
are with each other. I think I think women give
each other a hard time too about like you know,
but here's what I know about men. You get any
group of men together that are good friends and you
just put them and they're screwing with each other, right, right, Shanon,
(03:20):
I mean they are. They're making fun of each other,
but they do it out of love. There's making fun
to be mean, and then there's making fun out of love,
and there's any group of male friends that happens.
Speaker 6 (03:31):
The difference is.
Speaker 4 (03:32):
We just do it in front of you all, and
like that's different and it's a little more vulnerable. But
that's the thing we decided to do when we decide
to be on the radio, you know, And like that's
part of the trade off of doing this is that
you end up being more vulnerable, but then you also
get to have a really cool job and you get
(03:55):
to talk to people on the radio. So you guys
are eavesdropping on a group of friends conversations. But if
you were to hear, like i'd say to this mother,
first of all, thank you for listening. But if you
were to hear your husband and his friends, Ryan, chances
are they doing the same things to each other too.
Speaker 5 (04:10):
Yeah, they just don't have a microphone.
Speaker 6 (04:11):
In further, he just don't have a microphone in front
of them, right.
Speaker 4 (04:14):
My grandfather would go to the SEC tournament with his friends,
and they were all like church going people Shannon, Right,
And then the moment we got to the SEC tournament,
they started screwing around with each other.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
For me, it's like, you know, my way to show
that I like you if I don't make fun of you, Yeah,
I probably don't like you.
Speaker 6 (04:30):
Probably don't like you.
Speaker 4 (04:31):
Have I ever told you the story real quick, Shannon,
about when we were When I was with my grandfather
and his friends at the SEC tournament and the stripper
came out at Applebee's.
Speaker 3 (04:40):
Oh god, no, I want to hear this story.
Speaker 4 (04:43):
Have you never heard that?
Speaker 5 (04:43):
I don't think I remember that all right?
Speaker 4 (04:46):
So when I was a kid, I would go to
the SEC tournament with my grandfather and his friends, and
the group included like the future like the mayor of Middlesbrough,
like the lead singer at one of the churches, right,
like this was an outstanding This was these were moral
people shitting right, including my grandfather, and I was nervous
(05:07):
around them, although they were always very nice to me.
So it was like a bunch of sixty and seven
year old men and me, And sometimes from like age
seven to like twelve, we went to Birmingham in nineteen
ninety two. I've talked about that tournament before. I still
think the greatest SEC tournament of all time run right
nineteen ninet people.
Speaker 5 (05:24):
A lot of people support your argument on that.
Speaker 6 (05:25):
Yeah, we're in Birmingham.
Speaker 4 (05:27):
My grandfather at the time was kind of sick and
we went to a dinner and we went to Applebe's
in Burt. Why well, because when you're from Middlesborough, shit,
and that's big time eating right in the neighborhood. And
we're all having our dinners, like eight people and this
is like the kind of you know, this is the
who's who of the Middlesborough business community, right, leader of
(05:50):
the church choir, shitnon And at the table next to
us as a bachelor party at Applebee's, this woman comes
in and she starts stripping.
Speaker 5 (06:02):
Whoa, I'm not kidding you.
Speaker 4 (06:05):
She like comes in and does one of those like
hello boys, you know, and we're sitting right next to them,
and she gets down and she ends up like you
know in provocative where at the Applebee's in Birmingham.
Speaker 3 (06:20):
You got a free show?
Speaker 5 (06:21):
Well, I'm twelve. Can you imagine that this is the
great twelve who?
Speaker 4 (06:27):
Thought at the Birmingham Applebee's, I'd get to see that
level of skin.
Speaker 6 (06:31):
Shannon, you just didn't think that was plausible.
Speaker 3 (06:33):
I've never seen that Applebee's before.
Speaker 4 (06:35):
Of course, Now the Middlesbrough men like they don't. They're
kind of like they're smiling more than I thought they would.
Speaker 3 (06:43):
Of course, Well, there's still at the end of the day,
I know.
Speaker 6 (06:46):
And this doesn't happen in Middlesborough. I don't think a
lot either.
Speaker 4 (06:49):
Well, the manager comes over after like thirty or forty
five seconds and tells the woman, you can't be doing
this at the Applebee's in Birmingham during the SEC tournament.
Speaker 3 (07:00):
Yeah, and it's.
Speaker 4 (07:01):
Like it was like something in wrestling, like he puts
an overcoat over and takes her out the door. Did
you Yeah, it was like a big trench coade, like
you're gonna have to go. And I remember my grandfather
and his friend I won't say which one because his
family might be listening. They both looked at me and
just said, don't tell your mother, And of course I
(07:24):
didn't for a long time. I eventually eventually told him,
you know, you're twelve years old. That's part of why Ryan,
I say the nineteen ninety two SEC tournament was the
best one.
Speaker 5 (07:33):
Now we know the real reason.
Speaker 4 (07:34):
It wasn't just Jamal Mashville, Shaquille O'Neill, Todd Day, Lee Mayberry,
Oliver Miller, James Hollywood, Robertson, Robert or Latreel'spree.
Speaker 6 (07:43):
Well, it was also the Appleby's in Birmingham.
Speaker 8 (07:45):
M h.
Speaker 3 (07:46):
She was the real v that year.
Speaker 4 (07:48):
She was the real MVP. Couple things tonight, Ryan, the
debut of the World Indoor Golf League.
Speaker 6 (07:59):
Do you know about this?
Speaker 5 (08:00):
I do not know anything about this.
Speaker 4 (08:02):
Tiger Woods and Rory McElroy have created this thing like
you know when you go play on a golf simulator.
Speaker 6 (08:08):
Have you ever done that?
Speaker 4 (08:09):
Yeah? Right, and you like hit the ball and it
goes into the screen and it shows you what it does.
I think there's a couple places in Lexington where you
can do this, right. They're doing a professional golf league
of that wow, and it's gonna have like all these
pro golfers, including Tiger and Rory. And it debuts tonight
(08:31):
on ESPN, like Scott Van Pelt is the host, and
it's gonna be going for like the next six or
eight weeks. Now. I haven't seen it, and it debuts tonight.
It actually debuts during our debuts, right after the Kentucky game.
It sounds ryan to me, awful, like I cannot imagine
(08:53):
watching people do an indoor golf simulator on TV.
Speaker 6 (09:00):
But there are people who watch video games.
Speaker 4 (09:03):
I know Barstool has that guy Jerry who does this sometimes.
But do you think this will catch on professional golfers
playing indoors on the screen and watch people watching it
on the esp.
Speaker 5 (09:16):
I surprisingly am going to say yes because the younger
generation spends hours and hours watching other people play video games,
and the fact that Tiger Woods has his name attached
to this, people will tune in just because of Tiger.
So yeah, I think you could probably have some success.
Speaker 6 (09:31):
Well you watch it.
Speaker 5 (09:32):
I knew nothing about that's what. Why did they promote
it a little bit? I mean, this is kind of
a cool event. I'm not seeing any promotion about it
at all, and yet I'm gonna tune in the night
now that you just told me about it.
Speaker 6 (09:43):
All right, Shannon, will you watch?
Speaker 2 (09:44):
I think they haven't promoted it because I realize it's
gonna suck. No, I mean I watch it out of curiosity,
just to see what it looks like. Yeah, but no,
I don't think it's gonna catch on at all, do you.
Speaker 4 (09:53):
I mean, I guess, I mean Ryan's right, Like I
kind of feel like this is probably an attempt to
get younger people.
Speaker 6 (10:01):
It sounds awful to me, Like I want to watch.
Speaker 4 (10:05):
First of all, one of the things I've learned about
golf is if they're not playing for something that matters,
it's not entertaining, you know what I mean, Like when
they're playing against each other in these like the match
and stuff, I actually find it really boring cause it
doesn't seem like it matters who wins. But the other
thing is I just I can't imagine watching wanting to
(10:25):
watch a guy like hit it into a screen, And
if it's not Tiger, I really.
Speaker 6 (10:32):
Don't think I would care.
Speaker 4 (10:33):
Like do you want to watch Xander Shofty hit a
ball into a screen?
Speaker 5 (10:37):
Channon?
Speaker 3 (10:37):
No, I don't.
Speaker 2 (10:39):
Like I said, I'll tune in to watch it to see,
like what the presentation is. Maybe it's more than what
we're talking about, but if it's maybe golf simulator, I
mean that's what it's always been when I've been to
a golf simulator.
Speaker 6 (10:49):
Well, I'm gonna be like you.
Speaker 4 (10:50):
I'm gonna turn it on after the game tonight, just
before the pregame show, just to see what it looks like.
But Ryan, I just have a hard time thinking this
will be interesting.
Speaker 5 (11:00):
I think you're right. I think that the generation they're
trying to attract not us. I think all not the
young golfers of the world and the young people that
have played a lot on a simulator. They're the ones
that will probably tune in to night to watch. Sounds like,
if you like that.
Speaker 6 (11:13):
Wouldn't you just watch them play regular golf.
Speaker 5 (11:16):
Do they have like a like a bracket like a
thirty two player.
Speaker 6 (11:20):
I'm not sure what the format is, but it's gonna
it's a league. I think they are teams or something.
Speaker 3 (11:25):
But zero chance this catches on long term.
Speaker 4 (11:27):
I kind of feel like to say, wait, then Louisville
plays tonight. Now, far be it from me to make
fun of Louisville. And granted, I'm gonna grant you the
weather's back. Okay, so that plays an impact in this,
I get it. But Louisville plays Clemson at home tonight.
It's a big game for them, right, I mean, louis
why is a chance to be the second third or
fourth best team in the ACC. Clemson is probably the
(11:49):
second best team next to Duke. It's a big game
for them. They are giving they are When I say
they're giving away tickets, they're giving away tickets. Literally. This guy,
who I guess is one of the boosters of the
of he owns Planet Fitness. He got online and yesterday
said I will give five hundred tickets to anybody who
(12:12):
writes me here, and of course people wrote it. If
you're a member at Planet Fitness, Shannon, you get four
free tickets.
Speaker 3 (12:23):
Bring the entire family.
Speaker 4 (12:25):
Now, this is a game against the top twenty five team.
This is Louisville basketball, one of the greatest programs of
all time, and they're giving away tickets if you have
a membership at Planet Fitness.
Speaker 6 (12:42):
Isn't that insane?
Speaker 2 (12:44):
Yeah, when we made them, made fun of them before,
you at least had to go buy like a carton
of milk and you got tickets.
Speaker 3 (12:49):
Remember that.
Speaker 4 (12:50):
I just cannot believe they have a good team, a
team that could make the tournament. This is Louisville basketball.
I know the weather's bad, but they were doing this
before the weather got bad. Just for the record, the
idea that they have to give away tickets if you
have a membership to plan at Fitness, Ryan, did you
(13:10):
ever think that would happen?
Speaker 5 (13:12):
Never?
Speaker 4 (13:13):
Ever?
Speaker 5 (13:13):
Do I think it would happen to a fan base
that's been pretty solid over the years. Drew said it
a hundred times. They're broken that fan base. They're broken.
Speaker 3 (13:20):
Kenny broke them.
Speaker 5 (13:21):
Kenny broke them.
Speaker 4 (13:23):
I'm not making fun of this, although I guess I
am a little.
Speaker 6 (13:28):
I'm just shocked.
Speaker 4 (13:29):
Yeah, I'm shocked that they have to give away tickets
to play a top twenty five team. That's amazing to me.
But that's where they are right now, and that's what
they're gonna have to do.
Speaker 6 (13:40):
Who's up next?
Speaker 3 (13:41):
Clay, Clay?
Speaker 7 (13:42):
Go ahead, Clay, Hey, Matt, this is Clay.
Speaker 8 (13:46):
I'm the I'm the guy that had the baby that
Kobe broy held after the game on Saturday.
Speaker 5 (13:53):
Oh okay, so you're the one.
Speaker 4 (13:56):
Here we go again, Here we go. How McCoy calls
out right after that?
Speaker 3 (14:01):
Tell me about baby, and.
Speaker 6 (14:03):
I'll tell you what. I have some questions for you
about the baby.
Speaker 4 (14:06):
Can I Can I do my ad and take a
break and then get you right after the break? Is
that okay?
Speaker 8 (14:12):
Yeah, of course.
Speaker 4 (14:13):
Okay, let's do that because I want to. I actually
have more than thirty seconds of questions, but I gotta
take a break, So let's go to cornbreadthimp dot com.
During this snow. You know, you know you could get
a little antsy, it's a little cold. Take cornbread Himp.

guy who gave the baby to Brea and more. This
is KSR Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio channing
(14:57):
the uh text of the day here. I think you'd
like from seven to seven to two seven seven four
five two five four. One person writes, Matt. They do
that at every Applebee's. You just have to order the
bottomless fries.
Speaker 5 (15:12):
They did.
Speaker 4 (15:13):
That's good, uh for eating good in the neighborhood, right,
that's what they that's what they're.
Speaker 6 (15:20):
Doing, all right. So we got the guy on your
your what's your name again, sir?
Speaker 8 (15:26):
Yeah, my name is Clay Clay.
Speaker 6 (15:27):
So it was you.
Speaker 4 (15:28):
You're the one that gave the the baby to Kobe Brea.
First of all, how did that end up happen?
Speaker 7 (15:34):
Yep?
Speaker 8 (15:36):
Yeah, So I have a family member. I'm not going
to say their name, but they work in media, and
they got a stare on the floor right when the
game was in then, and we wanted to listen to
the Pope show, so uh, you know, all that they
were all Jackson came over and got a picture with him,
and then Kobe did, and then Kobe went back in
the locker room, and I guess he came back out
and Pope he does like segments, so he did his
(15:58):
first segment and he went over to one side of
the crowd and then he went to our side, and
then he didn't make it all the way down. So
I was like, you know, it's my son's first UK game,
and you know, he's he's a little he's a little guy,
and I just thought to be cool, you know, get
a picture with coach Pope. So Kobe was sitting right
next to me, and I said, hey, man, do you uh,
what are the chances you could take my son Kate
(16:20):
over and get a quick picture with coach Pope? And
he smiled at.
Speaker 6 (16:24):
To get the picture with Pope?
Speaker 4 (16:26):
Okay, got like I was just like I wasn't just like,
hey man, here's my baby.
Speaker 8 (16:31):
I'm gonna go to the bathroom and get a drink.
Speaker 4 (16:33):
You know, I was.
Speaker 6 (16:35):
I didn't know.
Speaker 4 (16:35):
I didn't think that would be the case. So were
you worried at I mean, like, you know, handing your
your baby to uh to a college basketball player. Did
that worry you at all? Not really?
Speaker 8 (16:47):
I mean, I know my wife was in the background,
and she's she was probably embarrassed. I know I know
she was. She actually did. She messaged you last night,
but yeah, she was embarrassed. But I wasn't too worried
because I asked first to say, are you sure, like
you feel comfortable doing this? And yeah, and he smiled.
Speaker 7 (17:00):
He's like, yeah, full comforaball.
Speaker 9 (17:01):
And he's a good baby.
Speaker 8 (17:02):
He he's just gonna cry or anything.
Speaker 6 (17:03):
He seems like he has a good handle, Shannon.
Speaker 4 (17:05):
So I like that all right.
Speaker 6 (17:07):
So now so you.
Speaker 4 (17:08):
Get the picture that's now become like kind of a
famous picture, like he went everywhere, so that had to
be cool.
Speaker 6 (17:14):
That had to be cool, right.
Speaker 8 (17:17):
Oh yeah it was. It was the best dad moment
ever because my dad needs to take me to games.
And I got a picture with Tubby and we went
to the bar your ball after the game. I was
hoping you'd be doing the show there, but the weather
was coming in and stuff. But there were people that
would just come up to me and they were like, hey,
is that the Is that the baby that got a
picture of the coach Bowl.
Speaker 4 (17:40):
Baby.
Speaker 6 (17:41):
Here's the most important question. Your baby wasn't sick.
Speaker 8 (17:46):
I was about to bring that up. No, none of
us are sick, and.
Speaker 7 (17:49):
Da is perfectly.
Speaker 8 (17:50):
He is not sick at all, So I don't I
saw some of that this morning. I was like, come on, now,
my baby's.
Speaker 6 (17:55):
Not sick, all right, So it's not.
Speaker 4 (17:59):
Good.
Speaker 6 (17:59):
I'm glad.
Speaker 4 (17:59):
I just wanted to make sure because you know, babies
have a lot of snots, so I'm glad that your
baby didn't have snot And uh, well, listen, that's very cool.
Thank you for calling, and it'll be a great memory
for you.
Speaker 6 (18:11):
Yeah, I appreciate calling.
Speaker 4 (18:13):
There you go, that's good. That's good to hear. So
we we're kind of reporters, Ryan. We can now report
that that Kobe Brea did not get sick from the baby.
Speaker 5 (18:23):
If he is definitely sick, it didn't come from baby Cad.
So we can't blame baby Cad if that's the issue
right now. So I'm glad to get that.
Speaker 2 (18:30):
Imagine the baby was sick, though everybody blamed the baby.
Speaker 3 (18:33):
You can't blame a baby.
Speaker 4 (18:35):
Yeah, it's not the baby's fault. Yeah, I mean I understand, right.
So I again talk about having reporters, Ryan. I have
somebody who was at the final rehearsal for the Golf
League last night, okay in West Palm Beats. They were
there and they said to me, they sent me pictures
(18:57):
and video of it. I mean, it looks cool, but
I don't know if it'll be cool. The person wrote,
I went to the final rehearsal last night. It's like
the NBA meets golf in a stadium with museums or
with music and a shot clock. The green moves and
changes every hole. So does that sound good?
Speaker 5 (19:18):
I think it's worth a little. I'm gonna check it out.
I mean, I don't know if I'm gonna watch it
every week or.
Speaker 3 (19:26):
Doesn't change it for me.
Speaker 4 (19:27):
We'll see. We'll watch it comes on nine o'clock tonight,
so we'll find out.
Speaker 5 (19:31):
I do have to ask Matt questions and just ask anything. Tuesday, Okay,
this is for you. Rory and Tiger were both very
anti ELK live golf. How's it non hypocritical for them
to start another league?
Speaker 4 (19:43):
It is a little bit. I mean, all these golfers. Okay,
so you can be against live golf because of the
Saudi Arabian thing, and I think that's principled. But I
never felt like these dudes were Most of them were
against it for that. They were just against it that
they were getting all these money and they were are
they were like I think golf the split has.
Speaker 6 (20:04):
Hurt golf a lot.
Speaker 4 (20:07):
I think golf outside of the majors now has become
almost unwatchable, and part of it is this split. So
maybe this will make it better. I kind of doubt
it will. And I do think if you, if people
want to be say it's a little hypocritical, I think
that's fair. But then again, if kids watch it, you know,
golf has a problem with kids. Like kids are not
into it as much anymore. So maybe it'll it'll make
(20:28):
it better. But I am a huge golf fan, and
I have found I can't watch a golf tournament now
unless it's one of the majors. And that's a shame
because I used to watch them all the time. But
it's just not interesting to me anymore. And you know,
for better or worse, that's just kind of how I
feel about it. Who's next, Carol, Carol, Go ahead, Carol.
Speaker 10 (20:49):
Hi, guys, I'm calling with a story concerning people that
can't get out of their house. Okay, I'm a very
senior citizen and I had a medical appointment yesterday that
I was determined to keep thanks to two very special
Uber drivers I got there yesterday morning, So I want
(21:12):
to give a shout out to Schanik and Amos. They
were both super considerate and they were concerned about my safety.
They made sure I got in and out of the car,
you know, carefully. And after I got back from my appointment,
I was kind of reflecting on all of this, and
(21:34):
I was reminded how upset I get when I hear
plans to deport certain groups of people. Because one of
these drivers immigrated here when he was forty years old
from South Africa. He speaks, writes, and reads five languages.
(21:55):
There are many instances just like this where people don't
hate the time to think. These people are working and
they're helping.
Speaker 9 (22:06):
People like me.
Speaker 4 (22:07):
Well that first of all, that's very cool that they
did that for you. Shaneck and Amos. Those are two
great names, by the way, Shaneck and Amos.
Speaker 6 (22:16):
But I also think more.
Speaker 4 (22:19):
I do when things like weather happen. It always reminds
me that, like it's easy to turn on TV and
think the world is like everybody hates each other. But
for the most part, I think ninety eight percent of
people are good and ninety eight percent of people want
to help people. And in a situation like that, helping
you get to and from the doctor, I think that's
(22:41):
very sweet. Thank you for telling us that story. And
I'm glad your homes stay warm.
Speaker 10 (22:46):
Okay, alrighty, same to you all.
Speaker 4 (22:49):
All right, there you go.
Speaker 6 (22:51):
I like the name Shaneck and Amos. When's the last
time you heard of a person named Amos.
Speaker 3 (22:57):
I don't know. I don't know anybody named Amos.
Speaker 5 (23:00):
I don't either trying to think.
Speaker 4 (23:01):
I mean, I don't one hundred years ago, and I don't.
Speaker 5 (23:08):
I don't think that.
Speaker 6 (23:09):
I can't think of a Yeah, I can't think of
a person.
Speaker 4 (23:14):
I don't know that I've ever known a person nay
made us.
Speaker 6 (23:16):
I don't either, So so uh A nice job by
those folks.
Speaker 4 (23:21):
And uh, yeah, you know, I see I saw somebody
walking down the street on Barstown Road, like helping, uh
an older person trying to get to the bus stop.
You know, bad weather does bring out the best of people,
and I wish we had more chances for people to
show that side. We'll take a break, be right back
to Kentucky Sports Radio. T J Smith, personal injury attorney
(23:44):
called TJ.
Speaker 5 (23:44):
He'll make them pay.
Speaker 2 (23:46):
Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Speaker 3 (23:49):
Here's Matt Jones.
Speaker 6 (23:51):
Is this Jerry Lee, Jerry Reid, Jerry Reid?
Speaker 4 (23:55):
Yeah, okay, I always heard this song on Willie's Roadhouse. Yeah,
it comes on quite.
Speaker 3 (24:00):
A bit, probably the only place you're gonna hear it.
Speaker 4 (24:03):
Yeah, I'm not a huge fan of it, but it's uh,
but I do know it. It's called what Amus Mos? Yeah, okay, Uh,
I'm nine eighty seven. Ryan Reed Shepherd got sent to
the G League yesterday, probably a little bit of a
surprise to probably a lot of people. It's kind of
rare for top five picks to get sent to the
(24:25):
G League. It happens, but but it's kind of rare,
you know, he hasn't. It's it's kind of a couple
of things. One, he's he's on a team that's that
had the third pick but has ended up good, So
that's probably a little surprising. Is that they're actually pretty good.
I think they're the two or three seed right now
(24:46):
in the West. And they also have a lot of guards.
I mean, he's like the fifth or sixth guard on
the team, and a lot of their guards have improved
a lot and gotten really good. So part of it
is he's on a team that's probably better than the
I thought, and he's got guys ahead of him that
have improved. The other part of it is he just
hasn't really played well when he comes in, And part
(25:07):
of it is he's only playing like he'll only get
to play like a handful of minutes here and there.
He doesn't his shots aren't going in. So the combination
of that, I think they think he needs to go.
He'll get regular minutes, he'll start in the G League
and like hopefully get a rhythm. But a little disappointing
for Reid a lot of the guys, this draft has
ended up being, I think better than people thought. And
(25:29):
you know, he's not ended up having the year I
think that a lot of people had hoped.
Speaker 5 (25:33):
I was a little surprised when I saw that. I
gotta admit, but you said it, man, the Rockets are
are guard heavy and is better than playing two or
three minutes a game. Get him some run, get some
minutes where he's done just sitting on the bench not
doing anything. I think it may end up being a
you know, a wise move on the Rockets part.
Speaker 4 (25:50):
I mean, it's been kind of listen, it's I still
think both these guys have a really bright future, but
for Reid and Rob it's for both of them been
a little dispos I mean, they both if you look
at the top ten picks, they're playing less minutes than
almost everybody, and they just haven't had a lot of success,
(26:11):
either one of them. You know, I still long term
think both of them can be good. But you know,
so a lot of people are now saying, well, read
should have come back. If Heed had come back, he'd
be playing here. I mean, Shan, I just kind of
think that's stupid. Yeah, he had he made twenty twenty
million dollars guaranteed. I'd love to have had him back.
But he made the right to see him the third pick.
(26:33):
If he goes in the draft this year, he's not
gonna be higher than the third picks.
Speaker 3 (26:37):
That's it right there.
Speaker 2 (26:37):
If that's why you go, you're not going to improve anymore, right,
I mean, you may go up one spot, but what's
the difference.
Speaker 4 (26:43):
Probably not though. I mean there's two Cooper flag and that, uh,
what's the kid's name at Rutgers. Whatever's now, there's two
guys at Rutgers. I don't think he'd have been picked
ahead of any of them. So, like if he came
back and was the fourth or fifth pick, and that
wouldn't have done him any good.
Speaker 2 (26:59):
Right, you wonder, like who do we not have on
this roster because of that? You know you're gonna somewhere. Yeah,
he probably wouldn't.
Speaker 3 (27:05):
Have Maybe maybe Otaga, I don't know.
Speaker 4 (27:08):
Yeah, maybe maybe Kobe, maybe Otaga one of those guys.
Speaker 6 (27:11):
But he made the right decision.
Speaker 4 (27:13):
Ryan, And even if it's and I think his NBA crew,
I still think he's gonna be good. But even if
it never does, Dude, you can't turn down twenty million
dollars a guaranteed money to come back and maybe be
in the exact same or worse position than you would
have been otherwise.
Speaker 5 (27:29):
Yeah, just just let him in, Just sit and improve, man.
I mean, he's just still what nineteen years old, you know.
Let him get some run of the G league. There's
been all these stories of guys that have done that,
go down, then come back and end up, you know,
staying the rest of their career.
Speaker 4 (27:42):
Are you surprised, Shannon that the best rookie, Well, right now,
they do this thing where they rank the rookies. NBA
ranks them right now the best rookies a guy i'd
never heard of that went to the Pelicans and part
of why he's the best as he plays a lot.
But the second best rookie right now by stats is
Zach Edie.
Speaker 6 (28:01):
Can you believe?
Speaker 5 (28:02):
Wow? No, I never thought that was gonna happen.
Speaker 4 (28:04):
Wh would have I mean, I don't know that I
thought he'd be a bus But when you watch that
dude play, I saw something He's the only player in
the NBA that in his last fifteen games his plus
minus has been a plus every game. Wow.
Speaker 3 (28:21):
I mean, I know what he was good at Purdue.
He was good for what they did.
Speaker 2 (28:23):
I just didn't know that that would translate as well
as it has so far.
Speaker 3 (28:27):
Earlier in his career.
Speaker 4 (28:28):
Would you have bought Ryan zach Ede would be a
productive I mean, he went ninth in the draft, so,
I mean clearly somebody thought that, but the.
Speaker 5 (28:35):
Way the NBA game is now, it just didn't seem
like it fit the way he plays. But he's he's
proven us wrong.
Speaker 4 (28:40):
Yeah, I mean give him credit. Man, you watched that
guy in his early career in Purdue. You would have
never thought, no, he could play in the NBA. And
now he's not only playing, he's on a good team
and he's playing really well. Who's next, Tom?
Speaker 6 (28:53):
Tom?
Speaker 4 (28:53):
Go ahead, Tom.
Speaker 9 (28:56):
Hey, I've got a hot basketball topic, maybe controversy. So
I think we can all agree that basketball, once you
get to the high school, college or pro level, is
in the entertainment industry.
Speaker 7 (29:08):
People pay to.
Speaker 9 (29:08):
Go watch this product on the court. So my idea is,
if we want to get women's basketball more entertaining. You
can do a few things, lower the rim to nine foot?
Speaker 5 (29:20):
Sure, how would you say before you do anything, why
would you say any of this?
Speaker 4 (29:23):
Women's basketball is more popular now than it's ever been.
I mean literally, women's basketball. The college women's NCAA championship
game last year out drew the MINS. Now it probably
won't do that this year, but that's still Like, I
don't think the sport has ever been more popular than
(29:45):
it is right now.
Speaker 9 (29:47):
Couldn't disagree, I mean, couldn't agree more absolutely, But it
was because of one or two players and people wanted
to see them play and they made it exciting. That's
going to die out, I think.
Speaker 4 (29:59):
I mean it may, it's going to it's definitely clearly
Caitlin Clark and to a lesser extent, Angel Rees, but
clearly Caitlin Clark was a huge personality that made a
big difference.
Speaker 6 (30:12):
But you know what, getting it to nine feet.
Speaker 4 (30:15):
I mean, I just I think there's an assumption there,
like the women it's never going to be as athletic
as the men. But it's a different sport. But that's okay, right,
Like that's all right. It doesn't have to be the same.
Speaker 9 (30:30):
It doesn't have to be. But if you want to
increase the crowd, if you want to make it more entertaining,
then why not lower the court? Why not lower them,
let them go in and be able to you know, jam. Yeah,
and maybe even put in a goaltending line so that
if you go inside, you have to go in strong.
Speaker 4 (30:49):
Yeah. Well, I think it probably, and I appreciate the
call that that. I don't think you elevate the sport
by telling young women that they can't like they have
to play with a different I mean I already play
with the different ball right going to nine feet. I
don't think women's basketball to be entertaining has to dunk.
I mean, what made Caitlyn Clark entertaining was her being
(31:12):
able to shoot the way she did. And you know,
so I would disagree with that, Ryan, although you know,
maybe I'm wrong.
Speaker 5 (31:21):
The women's game is exciting in its own way.
Speaker 4 (31:23):
It's just different.
Speaker 5 (31:24):
It's just different. You know. In the UK, women are
playing an exciting different kind of basketball. Yeah, you know,
I like the women's game. They play four quarters. That's
something I think the guys should.
Speaker 4 (31:32):
Maybe the guys should do that. I think they should.
I think they should play four quarters. It just cuts
down on the free throws, right, You don't because it's
five fouls each quarter, You just don't. You don't have
as many free throws, so you don't spend as much
time just standing there at the line towards the second
half of each half, which I think.
Speaker 6 (31:51):
Makes it better. Who's next?
Speaker 3 (31:52):
Price?
Speaker 6 (31:53):
Price? Go ahead, price?
Speaker 7 (31:55):
Hey, how's it going, guys. There's a guy you were
talking about, Amoses. There's a guy that played running back
for West Virginia, Virginia. His name was Amos their Way.
He played for West Virginia and then he was drafted
by the Pittsburgh Steelers in nineteen ninety nine and he
played for the Oakland Raiders and the New England Patriots.
Speaker 6 (32:15):
There you go. I didn't I never heard that name.
Thank you, guys, appreciate it.
Speaker 4 (32:21):
They also have those cookies.
Speaker 5 (32:22):
What are those cookies called famous Amos?
Speaker 4 (32:25):
When I did my trivia question, uh, when I did
my trivia question just a few a couple of weeks ago,
it's one of the five most popular cookies in America.
Did you know that? Really famous? Like Oreos, then chips Oy,
then like Pepperidge Farm, something, Nabisco, Nila wafers and then
(32:48):
famous amos. Do you people, by the way, do you
know people who still eat vanilla wafers?
Speaker 3 (32:53):
I ate him as a kid, and I loved him.
Speaker 4 (32:55):
I did ten milk. But do you know, like, when's
the last time you've seen a vanilla wafer?
Speaker 3 (33:01):
It's been probably thirty years me.
Speaker 5 (33:03):
I agree, but it was fourth on the amount.
Speaker 3 (33:06):
I have some kids still eating them.
Speaker 6 (33:07):
You can you buy them, like in a gas.
Speaker 3 (33:09):
Station, probably the grocery store. Yeah, I don't.
Speaker 4 (33:13):
I haven't seen a vanilla wafer since my grandparents died,
but somehow it's still number four.
Speaker 2 (33:19):
Everybody's grandparents have avannello waver because my grandparents had it two.
Speaker 4 (33:22):
Yeah, why did they like them so much? Was that
the only cookie they had for a long time?
Speaker 3 (33:26):
Maybe? I don't know.
Speaker 5 (33:27):
You need them to make banana pudding. Maybe that's what
I'm kepping them alive?
Speaker 6 (33:31):
Oh you do?
Speaker 4 (33:32):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (33:32):
You stick them in there?
Speaker 4 (33:33):
Oh okay, but yeah, maybe that's what it is. Hey.

That's still in limp biscuit.
Speaker 2 (34:27):
He's got that's gotta be a wig he's wearing right.
He looks like the dude from the Big Lebowski. He
looks like Jeff Bridges.
Speaker 6 (34:33):
Yeah he's got They still limp biscuits still a thing?
Speaker 3 (34:37):
Oh yeah, yeah. They played it louder than life a
couple of years ago.
Speaker 2 (34:42):
Wow, he got mad and made him turn off the
big screens on the side so nobody in the back
can see.
Speaker 6 (34:47):
Why do you do that just because because he's a jerk?
Speaker 3 (34:50):
I guess because he can. He's like, we're not gonna
play till you turn off the screens.
Speaker 4 (34:53):
Did you hear?
Speaker 6 (34:54):
Did you watch the first raw last night? See Hulk Hogan?
Speaker 3 (34:58):
Saw the highlights? Saw Hogan come out and get booed
by hand.
Speaker 4 (35:01):
Hogan just came out and got booed, like got booted.
First of all, Hogan can barely walk. You want to
feel old, watch Hulk Hogan. Man wrestlers age tough, except
Jimmy Hart, who looked amazing.
Speaker 3 (35:15):
Jimmy Hart did not deserve to get booed eighty.
Speaker 4 (35:17):
One years old. Dude looks the exact same he did
when he was thirty one.
Speaker 3 (35:21):
I don't get that one at all.
Speaker 6 (35:22):
I don't either, have you? Do you know Jimmy Hart
is Ryan the Mouth of the South.
Speaker 5 (35:27):
Oh, yes, that's what I would watch with him and
Tojo Yamamoto.
Speaker 4 (35:30):
And the exact Yes, he looks the exact same now
at eighty one as he did then. But Hogan comes
out and like, I guess he's selling some beer now
it's called real American beer, which is like ridiculous. He
(35:51):
comes out and they just boo him like and it
wasn't like he wasn't trying to get booed. They were
just like get out.
Speaker 3 (36:00):
He was like, I love you.
Speaker 6 (36:01):
Guys, and they were like, he goes.
Speaker 4 (36:04):
One of the things that has never changed is how
much you love me, and the whole crowd goes.
Speaker 5 (36:10):
So why were they booing him?
Speaker 4 (36:12):
I mean, he's got a tough background, Like you just
have to google some stuff he's done.
Speaker 3 (36:19):
Plus he was in LA and he was just at
a in La.
Speaker 5 (36:22):
He was big.
Speaker 4 (36:22):
But I mean part of it's probably like he you know,
he spoke for Trump at the convention, but you know,
the Undertaker is a huge Trump guy and he got cheered, right.
Speaker 6 (36:32):
I mean it's just Hogan like just I mean, we
don't need to go into all of it, but.
Speaker 2 (36:38):
You know, the for a guy was so beloved, like
the biggest, most loved wrestler on the planet back in
the eighties and nineties.
Speaker 3 (36:45):
Now everybody just seems to hate him.
Speaker 6 (36:47):
I mean, and he did not see it coming.
Speaker 3 (36:49):
You could take that he was shaking.
Speaker 4 (36:51):
He was shaken, and that dude's been a performer for
fifty years and he was shaken. So now of course
it's wrestling. They need to make him a bad guy,
right like they need to have him. Now he's got
to go the other way.
Speaker 3 (37:01):
I don't think he can walk down the aisle.
Speaker 4 (37:05):
He just came through and stopped because it was clear
like he couldn't walk. But I mean, probably shouldn't have
had him debut.
Speaker 3 (37:12):
In l A, Yeah right, I don't.
Speaker 4 (37:15):
I mean that's probably not you know, if you're gonna
debut like Lizzo, maybe you don't put her in. Maybe
you don't put her in in in Mississippi or Alabama.
I don't know if it was the best place to
debut him. All right, so today we're gonna open.
Speaker 3 (37:33):
What is going on?
Speaker 5 (37:34):
What is going torturing dogs?
Speaker 6 (37:36):
What is happening?
Speaker 5 (37:38):
Something must be outside they're going crazy.
Speaker 6 (37:41):
Well do you need to go look at it? That
sounds awful?
Speaker 4 (37:44):
Must be.
Speaker 5 (37:46):
I can go yell at him, but what can you
all hear that? At home?
Speaker 3 (37:51):
They can hear it.
Speaker 5 (37:51):
I mean, I know shaman and I can hear it.
Speaker 4 (37:53):
But what is that?
Speaker 5 (37:58):
I don't know. Somebody they're probably a dog out a
front yard or a cat.
Speaker 6 (38:01):
And that does not sound like they're seeing a dog.
That sounds like something bad.
Speaker 5 (38:08):
Yeah, that's that's normal.
Speaker 6 (38:10):
That's normal.
Speaker 5 (38:11):
Yeah, that's how you live when another animal comes in
our front yard. Yeah, I will say this. I've been
watching my cul de sac and one of my neighbors
whose car has not moved to god out and not
come back. So they must have made it. So I
think I'm feeling a lot better about making it.
Speaker 3 (38:27):
There you go, They clear the path.
Speaker 4 (38:29):
Yeah, they did what we told you at the beginning
you should do. Then everybody got mad at Shannon and
I about which is, why don't you get out.
Speaker 6 (38:35):
Of your house?
Speaker 5 (38:36):
Oh? I want to get out of my house all right?
Speaker 4 (38:38):
So speaking of getting out of the house, the Chas
bar is opening at three, The game is at seven,
Our pregame is at four thirty. We need to make
a decision. Are we gonna do the pregame at the bar?
Do you feel like you can get there or should
we do it at home?
Speaker 5 (38:53):
Can I Can I try it after the show's over
here and let.
Speaker 4 (38:56):
You try it?
Speaker 6 (38:57):
I mean we need to like we need to just say, well,
I think.
Speaker 5 (39:01):
After seeing what my neighbor just did. I think I'm good.
Speaker 4 (39:04):
Okay, So we're gonna do the pregame show. Then at
four thirty at the bar. You're up for it, I'm
up for it.
Speaker 6 (39:09):
Okay. Now the game is at seven.
Speaker 4 (39:12):
We here's what I'm gonna say to all of you all, like,
if you want to get out of your house and
watch the game, I'm gonna at least watch the first
half there until I get nervous. Shit, yeah, and then
and it probably look we probably won't have a ton
of people because of the weather, but come out and
watch it with us. We it can be like we're
tired of being in our house. Come watch the game.
Speaker 6 (39:34):
You are you up for it?
Speaker 4 (39:35):
Right? Yeah?
Speaker 5 (39:37):
If I make it to the pregame show.
Speaker 4 (39:39):
Yeah, okay, so you're just gonna stay there.
Speaker 5 (39:41):
I probably just gonna stay there.
Speaker 4 (39:42):
Do we need to call Amos and and Chile like
to send you home after the game?
Speaker 5 (39:47):
And that's not a bad idea because I'm sure there's
uber drivers that have four wheel drive?
Speaker 4 (39:50):
Okay, all right, so you'll be so we'll be there
at four thirty. You're in, I'm in, okay, all right.
So let's talk about how we feel cats in Georgia.
Looks like right now we're a one and a half
point favorite. Uh, you feel what do you think is
gonna happen tonight?
Speaker 1 (40:05):
Ryan?
Speaker 6 (40:05):
You think we get a victory?
Speaker 5 (40:06):
I think it's a close game from start to finish,
and I think it's a it's a rock fight. It's
gonna be a tough battle. But I feel like Kentucky
they gotta win one of these two, and I feel
like this is the one they're gonna get.
Speaker 6 (40:17):
Yeah, and this is tough.
Speaker 4 (40:19):
I mean you know that we're gonna we're playing a
top ten pick here. We've played a top ten pick
earlier this year with Cooper Flag and he played really
well against us until the last couple of plays. This
is another like can our Biggs defense? They really have
struggled defensively. I mean, especially against guys you know, the
(40:39):
Ohio State. Uh, those guys owned us on the boards. Honestly,
Ryan Ford owned us on the boards too. I mean
we won, but they owned us on the glass. Now
you got this team that's got with Ason Oil. You're
talking about a dude who's gonna be he's six to eleven.
I think he's gonna be a superstar. We gotta have
(40:59):
a mari Williams. We gotta have Andrew Carr, we gotta
have these guys. Uh, we gotta have these guys. Ryan
play much better on the defensive end than they did
in the last game.
Speaker 5 (41:10):
And that's what concerns I think all of us, as
we've seen us, our post players and our fours and
five not be the best defenders at times. Mario Williams can,
but he can't guard two guys.
Speaker 6 (41:20):
But he's also got to get his hands up in rebound.
Speaker 7 (41:23):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (41:23):
I mean he for and he's actually averaging a decent
amount of rebounds, but I feel like he lets other
guys get rebounds on him all the time.
Speaker 6 (41:32):
They got to box out.
Speaker 4 (41:34):
You know. We go back to that free throw against Florida. Again,
it didn't cost us, but he just let that dude
get the rebound on him on the free throw.
Speaker 5 (41:41):
Yeah, and I think that's why I think Pope took
him out and like, yeah, woke him up, say hey man,
you've got to do this or you are not gonna play.
Speaker 6 (41:48):
You like our chances to night, Channon, since you won't
be on the pre game.
Speaker 2 (41:51):
Yeah, but you know, with Kobe Braa being out. It
does make me a little nervous. Georgia's gonna try to
slow the game down there.
Speaker 6 (41:57):
We don't know teams, we don't know he's out.
Speaker 2 (42:00):
I'm saying if he is out, though, it makes me
a little nervous. But I think Kentucky gets to win
on the road. But it's gonna be tough.
Speaker 5 (42:04):
It's gonna be a.
Speaker 4 (42:05):
Tough game, all right. So we will do the pregame
show at four point thirty h Come on by the
bar if you want, or come watch the game, Ryan,
even if it's just me and you, we'll cuddle up
and we'll watch the game together.
Speaker 11 (42:18):
I'll make sure you get home. Okay, you can get
me home. I'm in, so you can get there if
I get you. Hope, I'm hoping to. I don't hear
a lot of try it.
Speaker 4 (42:28):
I'm not.
Speaker 5 (42:29):
I've not tried it yet. But like I said, my
neighbor got out, so I feel good about it.
Speaker 4 (42:33):
All right, we'll good for me. I think the Cats
will get a victory, but I think this is gonna
be a battle. And I said the Florida game was
a test for me about Hey, do we have a
chance to compete in the SEC I think the answer
is yes. This is the kind of game that if
you want to win the SEC or come in second,
you win this.
Speaker 5 (42:53):
This is the game.
Speaker 4 (42:54):
You're not gonna win the SEC or even come in second.
If you don't win a game like tonight, hope it happens.
We will see you at four point thirty. Everybody be
careful today. See you at four thirty for the pregame show.
