What about go number two here Kentucky Sports Radio, you've
come on out man good. Don't worry about it. I'm
not trying to stop the food service here at Poppies
Palomar Fountains.

Speaker 3 (01:12):
Great crowd here.

Speaker 2 (01:13):
Everybody gets if you come before noon a free margarita
from Uncle Matt. Tomorrow's National Margarita Day and all Poppies
locations three point fifty Margarita's all day. Good to see
everybody enjoying the food. I'm looking forward to eating someone.
This is over too. Great food drew here at Poppy's,
the one on campus I used to go to all
the time. I pick up the right there next to

(01:35):
the bar. Sometimes in drive through. Oh yeah, I mean
the Mexican food in the drive through. Take you here
a lot?

Speaker 4 (01:40):
Yeah, I go there often. But this is a great
spot too. I'm excited to have lunch and maybe put
a second margerite on your teb.

Speaker 2 (01:46):
No, no, what is good? All right? So I actually
had I forgot to give you all my UK basketball
trivia question from last night. This one will tickle your brains,
all right, Ryan, We'll start with you all of you
get an answer, right, Start with players that played their
whole career under either Tubby Smith, Billy Gilasspie or John
cal Perry. Okay, their whole career, not part of their career,

(02:07):
their whole career. What eight players scored the most points
in the NCAA tournament that played for those guys, So
now think about this, You have to think about a
lot of parts of that they played. So they had
to win a lot of games in the NCAA tournament,
maybe an advantage. Maybe if they played multiple years, they'd

(02:27):
had a chance for more games. What eight players scored
the most points in the NCAA tournament during Tubby, Gillespie
and cal Perry. Do you have a guess, We'll go
down the roster and see.

Speaker 4 (02:40):
Who can get one.

Speaker 2 (02:41):
I'll go.

Speaker 3 (02:42):
Tayshawn is number one.

Speaker 2 (02:43):
Tayshawn Prince scored the most points in the NCAA Tournament
of any player since Tubby Smith. Shannon the Dude Keith
Bogans is second on most points scored since they've all
both played four years, so that's not shocking.

Speaker 4 (02:57):
Drew Franklin Deron Lamb.

Speaker 2 (02:59):
Deron Lamb is fourth. You know he only played two
eat d Lamb was theat d Lambs was his fourth
all time.

Speaker 1 (03:07):
Ryan Gerald Fitch, Wow.

Speaker 3 (03:10):
Jerald Fitch is eighth.

Speaker 2 (03:11):
Nice job, Ryan, Almost no one got that last night
that's a good one. How did you get that?

Speaker 1 (03:17):
Boy played four years and he was the leading scorer
than the one you're there with the overall number one seed?

Speaker 3 (03:21):
Great call.

Speaker 2 (03:21):
There almost no one got that one. Shannon, he got
in the top three and number.

Speaker 5 (03:26):
Eight Hawkins Cliff, yes, Cliff.

Speaker 2 (03:29):
No, not on the list, or dominique. Terrence Jones is
on the list. Terrence Jones is actually sixth all time.
Uh excuse me, yes, sixth in points. We got four more?
Can we get him? You got there's one you're not
thinking of that you should get. Some of these are hard,
but there's one that you should get.

Speaker 4 (03:49):
I'll chime in. If no one's ready, go for it.
One of the Harrisons, I'll go.

Speaker 2 (03:54):
How about both Harris.

Speaker 3 (03:57):
And Andrew high Nice are both.

Speaker 2 (04:00):
On the list. So now there's only one more. And
I'm surprised nobody's gotten it. Anybody know out here in
the crowd, what Terrence Jones? Somebody said, right, yeah, Terrence Jones,
there's one more. Darius Miller is the other one. Darius
Miller is the other one. Those are your great question,

(04:21):
Those are your eight see not necessarily what you would think.
Four year guys. The Harrison twins. A lot of people
get Aaron, maybe wouldn't think Andrew, but yes.

Speaker 1 (04:30):
I would have thought maybe Aaron deserved probably that list. Andrew.
I don't remember him scoring a lot in the NCAA turn.

Speaker 2 (04:34):
But remember Andrew got to play nine games first, yeah, no,
ten games, went to the championship game, and then the
next year had had four five games games, he played
eleven games, so he got a lot of change.

Speaker 4 (04:48):
Don't forget Lamb and Jones, I mean kind of forget
that run they had their first year. They so yeah,
that's why.

Speaker 2 (04:56):
So that's why all of them are on the list.
All right, So I want to give let me ask
you all a question now, with five games to go,
give me a percentage chance of both of these. Let's
start with this percentage chance we go to Nashville and
win the SEC turner. Oh boy, Alabama, by the way,
line just came out. Alabama is a seven and a

(05:16):
half point favorite tomorrow against Kentucky and Tuscaloosa. I think
Drew said that he's my that's nice.

Speaker 1 (05:23):
What do you got I'll say five? One in twenty yeah.

Speaker 2 (05:28):
Even with all of our crowd and everything.

Speaker 1 (05:31):
One in twenty yeah, I think that's it's not really
reflection on us. It's a reflection on the other teams
in the.

Speaker 3 (05:35):
SEC five percent?

Speaker 2 (05:36):
What about you?

Speaker 5 (05:37):
And with three guards down and we don't know if
those guys are gonna be healthy or not.

Speaker 2 (05:40):
I want to know what if I told you? What
if I told you they all play?

Speaker 3 (05:43):
If they all play, well, Kurr's not gonna play. But
what if I told you Lamont and Jackson play.

Speaker 5 (05:47):
I'll go up to ten percent.

Speaker 3 (05:49):
Okay, yeah, would that change you or still at five?

Speaker 1 (05:51):
I'm probably still at five?

Speaker 2 (05:52):
Okay.

Speaker 4 (05:53):
I'm hearing the go big blue chance in my head
right now, so I'll go a little higher. I will
say eighteen point seven percent.

Speaker 2 (06:00):
That's a good number, that's a hot number.

Speaker 4 (06:02):
It's very important to play on Thursday, though, Yeah, I agree,
very very important to not that.

Speaker 2 (06:07):
I'm gonna say ten because here's the thing. If we're
the eight seed, I think we can be win that
first game. If we have Jackson, then why not? Right?
If we have Jackson and Lamont, we got a shot.
I agree with, you can't play on Wednesday. There's no
We're not winning five games.

Speaker 4 (06:24):
Nobody's winning five games in that turn.

Speaker 2 (06:26):
The two teams that did it. I mentioned Kimba. The
other one was m C State last year. If you remember,
m C State won all the ACC tournament games and
then went to the Final four. But it does not happen.

Speaker 5 (06:35):
If the roster is what it is now with the injuries,
I would go even lower than Ryan's five. I'd go
more like three percent.

Speaker 2 (06:41):
Okay, now, now that you've given that number, what is
the percentage chance we make the final four? Is it
higher than your SEC tournament number? That's kind of my point.
What is do you would you put final four and
a higher percentage than SEC? I would if I think it.

Speaker 5 (07:01):
Would easier road, hypothetically much easier road.

Speaker 2 (07:05):
Yeah. Actually, I mean we're a three seed right now
in the in the projections, but a Noine seed in
the SEC tournament. I actually think it's a much easier.

Speaker 4 (07:16):
It's an easier road. It's also not game game game
game game. You have the two the break, and you
know a lot of coaches struggle with that in between
on the weekend games. I like our coaching staff to
be very prepared for every team in the region when
they get to that point. I would move it, I said,
eighteen seven or whatever. I'd say twenty low twenties, twenty two,
twenty two point three.

Speaker 2 (07:38):
Here's something to think about when you think about us
in the NCAA Tournament.

Speaker 3 (07:41):
I think we're gonna end up a four seed.

Speaker 2 (07:43):
That's where I just kind of feel like we're gonna
end all right, So let's say we're a four seed.
They're probably not gonna put us with Auburn, right because
we will. I can't imagine they make a Sweet sixteen
game of us against Auburn. Probably not gonna put us
with Florida. I think there's a good chance for a
four seed. Who's gonna be our one seed? Duke. Duke's

(08:05):
probably gonna be our one seed because I don't know
who you else you put with us, because the others
are gonna probably be SEC team. So we're probably gonna
end up with Duke in a Sweet sixteen rematch if
we got there against Duke. Wow, let's say we're healthy.
I think we have a chance to beat him, don't you.
They have not played Duke has not played a Top

(08:26):
twenty five team except Clemson since mid December. They've played
one Top twenty five team since mid December.

Speaker 1 (08:34):
And we match up pretty well with them. You know
they don't scare us. I think we met up with
him again.

Speaker 2 (08:39):
And by the way, when they play Clipson they lost.
That's the only time they've played a top twenty five
team since December.

Speaker 4 (08:45):
And if you keep it close, you know Cooper flag
will fall down. I would like to see that agame,
but I mean, you gotta play somebody hard at that point.
Why wouldn't you rip the logo off that it says, Duke,
Why wouldn't you want to play a team you've already beat?

Speaker 2 (08:55):
Totally agree, And if we stay a three seed, I
look at the two seeds and I'm not scared of
any of I don't know about you. I'm not scared
of Iowa State. I'm not scared of Markutt, I'm not
scared of Purdue. I mean, none of those teams really
scare me at all. If we end up as a three.

Speaker 4 (09:09):
Seed, I really think, depending who it is early in
that tournament, the SEC has been such a gauntlet those
first few games. I hope I'm not jinxing this, but
that could be a relief of opponent that's not an
SEC team to I told you could see in Mississippi
State in the second weekend of the NCAA tournament. That's
what bracketology has now, or you could also play them
on Thursday of the SEC.

Speaker 2 (09:29):
By the way, the SEC Tournament is gonna be awesome.
I mean it's gonna be like Nashville. I hope we
win a couple of games so our crowd can get
into it, because I think it's gonna be the best
SEC tournament that there's ever been. Who's up next?

Speaker 6 (09:41):
Connor?

Speaker 2 (09:42):
Is up next? Connor? Go ahead, Connor?

Speaker 7 (09:46):
Hey Man, good to talk to you. I want to
call in and make a little statement here. I live
in Fayete, Arkansas, unfortunately, and I wanted to let you
guys know. I think Chuck Norris would have been startled
how fast He's fans jumped out the bushes when they
beat UK. They've been quiet all year.

Speaker 8 (10:05):
They can't fill their arena.

Speaker 7 (10:07):
Man, they jumped out so quick when they beat UK.
And you know they jumped right back in the bushes
since that game.

Speaker 2 (10:14):
Well, that's true, they have, you know, But again, appreciate
the call to give you a sense of how good
the SEC is. That Arkansas team has two first round
picks on it and has took the number one team
in America to the end of the game on their
home court, and you know what, they're seated in the
SEC tournament thirteenth. Golly, I mean that's kind of amazing. Drew.

Speaker 4 (10:37):
Yeah, and I watched most of the game the other night,
and at one point they said DJ Wagner is shooting
under twenty percent in the SEC, which made me slam
my head against my desk, sinking up what he did
in the Kentucky game.

Speaker 2 (10:48):
Really shooting under twenty because he shot well.

Speaker 4 (10:50):
Yeah, I was like god, it just shows if you
look at their percentages and their results, that is such
an outlier in Lexington. It is crazy the gap between
that and the rest of their games.

Speaker 2 (11:00):
Have you been following, by the way, the Arkansas guy
Shannon who did his show at Chaos Bar John Nighbors,
so you know when he came to Lexington, he did
his show at Chaos Bar. He was very nice, so
I got no ill will towards him at all. But
the Lexington Airport lost his luggage. Oh that the Lexington

(11:23):
Airport lost his luggage and he still hasn't gotten it back,
and he tweets about it all the time. I think
he genuinely believes the Lexington Airport intentionally lost his luggage.
But I think that's kind of funny.

Speaker 5 (11:37):
Of all places, I mean, I hope I wish he
hadn't gotten all places in Lexington they can't find the
guy's luggage.

Speaker 2 (11:42):
I don't know.

Speaker 5 (11:43):
I would probably be like him.

Speaker 3 (11:44):
Let's come, it's not even that big an airport.

Speaker 2 (11:46):
I mean, it's not that it's can't but they know
they cannot find his luggage.

Speaker 1 (11:50):
You don't know what I think of it. I did
see a suitcase over on New Circle Road hanging up
in the tree today, so well.

Speaker 2 (11:56):
You know, we may have lost the game, but at
least we got some luggage. Who's up next? Trued is
up next? Richard? Go ahead, Richard?

Speaker 8 (12:04):
Yeah, I like to whether they have the injury, it
comes out.

Speaker 2 (12:11):
It comes out like right after our show the other night.
Appreciate it, Richard. It comes out right after this show.
So it'll come out at like one on something like that.

Speaker 4 (12:24):
Tope also has a noon press conference. I mean, not
that he's gonna reveal everything, but maybe he'll have an update. Two.

Speaker 1 (12:29):
Do you suspect it's gonna change at all?

Speaker 2 (12:31):
No, I would suspect I would if I'm just guessing
I would expect Robinson Butler out tomorrow. I think for
the Oklahoma game, you'll see Butler become like questionable, maybe
even play, and then I expect, this is just me
to see Butler play for the Auburn game, and then
I think their goal is to get Robinson for the
SEC Tournament. I'm taking the view of that first game

(12:54):
in the SEC Tournament, Shannon. If Jackson Robinson doesn't play,
then we just have to mentally expect he's not gonna play.
But I think Butler is gonna play, and I still
think Robinson will give it a go before it's open.

Speaker 5 (13:06):
Obviously we want both back, but if you had to
pick one or the other, I think I would rather
have Butler back. I think that the offense just looks
different when he's running the point, and obviously what he
adds to defense is a big plus as well.

Speaker 2 (13:16):
I think Drew Robinson is huge when you play a
team like Alabama where you got a score a lot,
or a team like Florida, but pretty much every other
game i'd rather have Butler, so I think it gets
more opponents. Butler is gonna matter. It's gonna hurt us
not to have Robinson against a team that scores a
lot of points. But I think against like your you know, Auburn,

(13:39):
South Carolinas. You want to have Butler? Why said South Carolina?
But you know what I mean?

Speaker 4 (13:43):
Yeah, Pope said, we're not using injury as an excuse.
But you can't convince me they couldn't have finished the
job against Texas with Butler ball in his hands. You're
up five with another four minutes to go. That's when
everything just fell apart, and a lot of them was
in ball handling and point guards. I think they finished
that game and might even have one more win if
Butler never got hurt.

Speaker 2 (14:00):
If I were to make you predict which of those
guys play in the NCAA tournament, let's just assume creases out.
Who plays Butler?

Speaker 3 (14:09):
Just Butler?

Speaker 1 (14:10):
Oh, I think you have picking one or the other?

Speaker 5 (14:12):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (14:12):
Would would you say both?

Speaker 1 (14:13):
I think they both end up playing, because, like I
said this, they're fifth year seniors. Man, they came to
Kentucky to play in these big games. They're gonna tough
it out somehow. If they're hurting, they're gonna play in
the nca.

Speaker 5 (14:22):
Butler plays, I think, and then Jackson left handed by
the way.

Speaker 2 (14:27):
I don't think that's crazy. I actually think what I
think that's to me, that's the most likely scenario. We
get close to one hundred percent Butler and we get
a Robinson who's doing the best he can. That's that's
kind of what I think.

Speaker 5 (14:37):
Is like Ricky the Dragon.

Speaker 2 (14:38):
Yeah, he's like Keith Bogan's with his ain'tk just trying
to hang on there during the tournament.

Speaker 4 (14:43):
I know a little more about Butler with the Robinson.
I don't have a clue on Robinson, but I expect
both by tournament tom I definitely expect Butler back. But
with Robinson, I really don't know, haven't heard much. I'm
just I'm hoping there.

Speaker 2 (14:54):
I'm expecting Butler just me for the Auburn game next week.
At rupt know if he'll get into Oklahoma next week,
but I'm gonna expect we see him for that opera gave.
That's just me.

Speaker 4 (15:05):
With Butler, I almost feel like they're gonna get to
a point where there's hoping they've got enough wins, like
maybe the heck, if you win tomorrow in surprise everyone,
you keep him on ice a little longer. I'm you're right, yeah,
but it'd be kind of like a breaking case of
emergency situation.

Speaker 2 (15:16):
I think that's it. I think if if you were
to talk to UK and they were to be honest,
I think they want to get a three seed and
they're trying to figure out how do you piece together
to get a three seed? And then if they can
do that, then they would sit guys out to until
they could do it. If they beat in Texas, they'd
be there and they didn't do it. If you want

(15:38):
to score big on college basketball in the NBA this season,
go to Draft Kings, official sports betting partner of the NBA.
For first time listeners. Use bet five dollars. You get

we're going to have a parlay for tomorrow Drew And
I mean if Colin Chandler, if he'd hit that three.

Speaker 4 (15:58):
And where I sit, it was coming right at me.
He was online too. Is just a little long. I
felt the winner go in.

Speaker 2 (16:03):
The KSR parlay was like literally needed two more points
or three more points. He shoots a three and I
thought it was in. It looked so good it didn't

Speaker 3 (16:31):
Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio. Hear at Poppies,
I poppy you can come.

Speaker 2 (16:37):
In and have great food. Has the food great? That's
what I like to hear. Thank you all very much
for coming. You still got but forty minutes to get
here and get a margarita on me and tomorrow's National
Margarita's Day three point fifty all day on Saturday. I
want to quickly a little sad note talk talk about
two people who passed away yesterday. One one of my

(17:00):
childhood friends, probably the person I remember the youngest, grew
up with named Vance Michael, went to church with him
all through my youth, in high school and played tennis.
His father passed away. He been in my life for
my entire life. He lives in Georgetown now, Doug Michael.
So prayers to the Michael family also in Georgetown, a

(17:22):
sports sort of a Kentucky sports legend that also became
the mayor of Georgetown. Mutt Varney, which I always remember
because of his name, because my Larry went to Larry
went to Bria College and he always said Mutt Varney
was the best player in Berea history. And I remembered
his name because as a kid, Mutt Varney is a
funny name. The only player in Berea College history to

(17:44):
have his jersey retired.

Speaker 3 (17:46):
Mutt Varney passed away.

Speaker 2 (17:47):
He later became the mayor of Georgetown, and so he
passed away yesterday as well. So prayers to both of
those families. Larry was very very close to Doug Michael,
to Mutt Varney, so he was very sad last night.

Speaker 1 (18:03):
You're telling that story, it all comes back to him.

Speaker 2 (18:04):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (18:04):
He was the leading scort Bria till just not that
long ago.

Speaker 2 (18:08):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (18:09):
Yeah, he had it for like forty fifty years or
something like that.

Speaker 2 (18:12):
Score. I think his coach, the coach was rolling. We're
Willie and Mutt Varney the player. So a little Beria
college basketball.

Speaker 4 (18:19):
We just don't have great names like Mutt Varney.

Speaker 2 (18:21):
And you know, people don't name their kids mutt anymore,
and maybe maybe they shouldn't, but it's it's it is.

Speaker 5 (18:27):
It is a great like Elon might name his next one.

Speaker 2 (18:29):
But yeah, I mean, they just keep coming every few days,
so maybe he can eight five, nine two eight oh
twenty two eighty seven. Quickly, the women's team, let's talk
about their weekend. They won last night, so they have
set up. They have a three game stretch. It's a
pretty amazing set of opponents. LSU, Tennessee and South Carolina.

(18:50):
To finish the year, they play uh, they beat Missouri
on the road, so tonight the gymnastics team goes against
LSU's women's gym astics team. Livy Dunn is apparently now
a coach, so I guess she doesn't. She's like she's fiftier,
but I don't. I was told she doesn't. She doesn't
leap and do anything anymore. I don't know what I'm

(19:12):
talking about, but she's she'll probably be here tonight for
everybody who cares about that. But either way, LSU and
Kentucky Gymnastics, if you've never been, I don't even know
if they're sold out, But if you've never been, that
crowd gets absolutely insane. It's a lot of young girls
who are excited to be there and it's loud. And

(19:32):
that is tonight. Then Sunday, Kentucky plays LSU and women's
basketball at RUP. Now. I don't know if you saw
Kenny Brooks last night. He was a little chesty. Did
you see that? Postgame? Asked him about LSU and he
said something like, yeah, we're supposed to be in a

(19:52):
game like this, and you know what, we're supposed to
win a game like this, So he said, bring it
off nice I said. He was like, hey, kim Mo,
come get some I like that.

Speaker 4 (20:02):
I like that. And then you know, we had George
on the show a few weeks ago and together they
went to a Final four. So they know basketball success
and they're not afraid of anyone. I love that attitude
from a program that really didn't have any business being
on the floor with LSU for several years. Now they're
ready to take on that challenge on Sunday.

Speaker 3 (20:18):
So that game is sold out. That game is completely
sold out.

Speaker 2 (20:21):
I think I was talking to the woman who covers
UH Kentucky for the Harald Leader and I and she
asked me when I thought they would have that good.
And I think it's been since what maybe when Don
Staley in South Carolina came in here against Matthew Mitchell
and they were number one and we were in the
top ten. That's probably the last time we've had an
atmosphere like we'll have Sunday against Ellis.

Speaker 1 (20:43):
Yeah, it just doesn't happen that lot from you came
women's basketball, Pat Summit brought in a number one team.
They played at Roup at Kentucky beat him one time.
That's a huge boss with Mickey Damas. Mickey Damas, Yeah,
but you're right, and they have to go back to
that that Matthew Mitchell versus Don Staley. They didn't like
each other either, did they did not know?

Speaker 2 (21:00):
They didn't.

Speaker 3 (21:01):
We lost that game.

Speaker 2 (21:02):
It was close, but Matthew Mitchell and Don Staley would
like stand and like kind of yap at each other
during the game. Huh. I have no idea what I'm
talking about. I could be wrong, but I got the
sense Drew watching Kenny Brooks he might not like Kim
Mulkey all that much. Like I couldn't tell for sure,
but it seemed like maybe he didn't. So I maybe

(21:23):
we'll get some of that too.

Speaker 4 (21:25):
Yeah, and I think if you were to pull all
the women's basketball coaches, she would probably get a negative
approval rating. I think just the way she carries herself
sometimes at off putting. Never won, but I'm excited to
just see what she wears. She had an amazing sweater
that looked like a net a few weeks ago.

Speaker 1 (21:39):
I wanted to buy it.

Speaker 4 (21:39):
I look forward online, but you were.

Speaker 2 (21:41):
Gonna buy it. It's incredible.

Speaker 4 (21:43):
It has like a rim at the top, like a
net dangles at the bottom.

Speaker 2 (21:46):
It was awesome. If you if you start wearing Kim
Malky sweaters, I'm gonna I'm gonna love that.

Speaker 4 (21:51):
At the Hills to Go, we're both fashion forward.

Speaker 2 (21:55):
I want to know if you're going to either of
those games. We're having like little pregame things at the bar.
I hope you'll come back. And if the Kentucky you
know that. I think the women's game one on Sunday four, okay,
so a little celebratory dinner. I think all three games
for Kentucky. The next three women's games are on regular television.
You don't have to watch them online. They'll be on

(22:15):
either ESPN or the SEC Network. Who's up next? Bob
is up next? Bob? Go ahead, Bob.

Speaker 8 (22:22):
Hey, you guys puitch topic so fast that my comments
are fairly irrelevant at this point, but I'll.

Speaker 2 (22:28):
Give they're always good. Go for it.

Speaker 8 (22:32):
In terms of hockey, if any of you guys ever
heard the old Archie Campbell hockey here tonight.

Speaker 2 (22:39):
No, I don't even know what those words mean.

Speaker 8 (22:43):
Okay, Well you got a YouTube or something you gotta
find It is hilarious. Remember Ichy Campbell without he Haul
for years and years ago.

Speaker 2 (22:53):
Oh okay, we do know. I do know he Hall.
I didn't know that, but okay, I do know he Hall.

Speaker 8 (23:01):
Okay, well it's hilarious. You got to look it up.
It's called hockey here tonight. All right, I will look
at the Okay. The other comment is about the Yankees
and talking about the facial hair and everything. Of course,
now the Yankee I mean being a Yankee fan since
I was a kid. Uh uh you know. They even
had its hunter and even last year to Catcher. Uh

(23:24):
you know.

Speaker 3 (23:25):
But I have to let you go. We gotta go
to break.

Speaker 2 (23:27):
They didn't allow mustaches, they didn't allow beards.

Speaker 3 (23:29):
That was the rule. We'll take a break.

Speaker 2 (23:31):
And right back. This is Kentucky Sports Radio quarterback. It
is Kentucky Sports Radio here, live and poppies.

Speaker 3 (23:41):
We have had a great crowd.

Speaker 2 (23:43):
I like the bell ringing over there. Thank you very
much to Mark hosting all the folks here. Uh the
National Margarite today tomorrow. You still got thirty minutes to
get a margarita on me today.

Speaker 9 (23:53):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (23:53):
Shout out to Sophia in Virginia. I think your dad
just said you're listening. I appreciate it. Two pieces of news,
one good, one bad. Let me give the good the
bad one first, because it's gonna make this guy next
to me really sad. Oh oh, Bloomberg is reporting that
Hooters is declaring bankruptcy.

Speaker 5 (24:13):
Oh no, it makes me sad too.

Speaker 1 (24:16):
I really like their food a lot.

Speaker 4 (24:20):
This is on your hands, right.

Speaker 1 (24:22):
We used to have our business meetings there like in
once a.

Speaker 2 (24:24):
Month, and it was only for you.

Speaker 5 (24:27):
We haven't done it a long time. I think we're
partially to blame.

Speaker 2 (24:29):
We maybe are partially to blame. So uh so, all right, well,
I guess that's declaring bankruptcy. Doesn't mean it will go away,
but it just means they're gonna have to I don't
know what they're gonna have to do redo something, but uh,
something's not working. Huh, something is not working.

Speaker 9 (24:45):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (24:45):
And then I think this is good news. Shannon.

Speaker 2 (24:50):
I hear through the grapevine for the first time ever,
you got credentialed by the SEC.

Speaker 5 (24:57):
You know, you guys all got your email at the
same time we were all approved. I go, well, I
didn't get one. I guess that means they're going to
send out, you know, the decline to emails later.

Speaker 4 (25:05):
But I got approved.

Speaker 2 (25:06):
So I hear that you you actually filled it out
this year and put Shannon the dude Griggsby did yep?

Speaker 5 (25:13):
I put the dude in quotation marks. I think maybe
that's the reason they didn't know who Shannon Griggsby was.
I had to put the dude on.

Speaker 1 (25:19):
I guarantee that reason. They flat out said we didn't
know who Shannon I was.

Speaker 2 (25:23):
When I went to that. The guy his name is
Craig Pinkerton. I think he's been doing it for like
twenty years. And I went up to him last year
and I was like, why didn't you approve him? And
I said, He's like, I don't know who that is.
And I said it's Shannon the dude, and he goes, well,
why didn't he write the dude?

Speaker 5 (25:39):
Yeah, thank you, mister Pinkerton. I mean I put Kentucky
Sports Radio. I would think you could see Shannon Kentucky
Sports Radio dude.

Speaker 3 (25:46):
Now, yeah, Mario forgot to fill.

Speaker 2 (25:50):
Out his form.

Speaker 5 (25:51):
Oh Mario, how.

Speaker 2 (25:53):
Could you forget to fill out your form?

Speaker 4 (25:55):
He's so excited, you're what Now.

Speaker 2 (25:58):
Here's what improved me. Here's what's interesting about Mario. So
you know, we my buddies, my college buddies, we all
get like a house that we all stay in. iHeart
is getting one room, which Ryan and Shannon are taking,
which means Mario is gonna have to stay in this
house with like ten forty year old men. And I'm

(26:19):
sure Mario is very excited about that, Drew. He'll I
think he'll have fun. But I can see the nervousness
in his eyes of him. He's like, here are nine
forty year old men. You don't know you're staying here
right now, Mario.

Speaker 4 (26:32):
The year was twenty ten and Matt took me to
the SEC tournament and he said, these are all my friends.
They're gonna be your friends this week. They're still my
friends today. You're gonna love them now. Granted now we're
older now than we were back then. They might have
all left the bar early. In fact, it was a Hooters.
It was Hooters fashed them. They all left early and
left me there by myself. But you know, over time,
they've become some of my best friends too. So you're

(26:53):
just getting started. And two of those guys got kicked
out of.

Speaker 2 (26:56):
The Hooters that night.

Speaker 1 (26:58):
They're all older, but all still.

Speaker 4 (27:00):
You can't fall asleep on top of a picture of
beer at the table, You're not.

Speaker 2 (27:04):
It's glowed to do that. So if you are going
to the SEC tournament we're talking about, we're probably If
Kentucky plays on Thursday, we're probably gonna do our big
show in public on Thursday, just in case, because if
we were to lose on Thursday, I wouldn't want to
do it to an empty arena on Friday. So if
you're coming to Nashville, expect to see us do our

(27:26):
thing on Thursday.

Speaker 3 (27:27):
Who's up first? Do you have a concert?

Speaker 2 (27:29):
Is Alice?

Speaker 5 (27:29):
Oh, yes we are. We're playing Thursday night, so I
hope that they went on Thursday as well.

Speaker 2 (27:34):
So Alice Bluegown will also be playing on Thursday night
at the SEC term as well. Who's next? Jackson?

Speaker 3 (27:39):
Is up next, Jackson? Go ahead, Jackson.

Speaker 9 (27:43):
Hey guys, how are y'all doing?

Speaker 3 (27:45):
Doing good?

Speaker 9 (27:48):
Love poppies, man, they're great, and the margaeragers are good,
which I wasn't working. I'd come have one.

Speaker 3 (27:54):
Well we're somebody will drink yours for you, but go ahead.

Speaker 9 (27:58):
I'm sure they will. I just had one quick question.
Go on every time because I always always work and
I have to listen to it on podcasts. Every time
I click on it's like release today, hour one, Release today,
hour two. It always goes back to the postgame show,

(28:20):
and I can't never I don't know what's going on?

Speaker 2 (28:23):
Do you have any So sometimes this happens on Apple especially,
but sometimes Spotify. Sometimes your thing gets stuck. If you
delete the app and then put it back on, it'll
catch up. It'll catch up on its own anyway, but
sometimes it takes a few days if it gets stuck.
So reset, unsubscribe, delete all the episodes and then come back.
It'll work.

Speaker 9 (28:45):
I'm like Ron, I'm on Android.

Speaker 2 (28:48):
Amen, Well, same thing happened. Sometimes your feed gets stuck.
Just delete all the episodes. Unsubscribing then resubscribing. It'll work well.

Speaker 9 (28:58):
Thank you guys. I appreciate at your show and appreciate
you keeping the bb in rolling and uh, all the
effort and the fun that you guys put into this
show makes it makes it worthwhile.

Speaker 3 (29:09):
Appreciate the call.

Speaker 2 (29:10):
Thank you. Tom Hart just wrote me and said, why
does Shannon always put up the second hour before the
first hour? Hey, people really dislike that that you but
you're never gonna change.

Speaker 5 (29:20):
Well, I'll tell you what, Tom, if you don't like it,
you could come upload the podcast. How about that? Or
could that Billy do it? I mean, that'd be fine.
That'd be one less thing I have to do with
other six shows.

Speaker 2 (29:29):
Billy is barely able to sit up over there.

Speaker 1 (29:32):
I can tell slow down, son, Billy.

Speaker 2 (29:40):
The amount of Billy hate I've gotten in my feed
since his filming People on the airplane has been unparalleled.

Speaker 4 (29:48):
If Billy was a stock, we're in a dip right now.
It's a little bit of a cline. This Billy was
a stock. Bloomberg's reporting on bankruptcy coming. He'll be back though,
time to buy and Billy right, he.

Speaker 2 (29:58):
Might need to reorganize and come back Who's next? Todd
is up next? Todd?

Speaker 3 (30:02):
Go ahead, Todd.

Speaker 10 (30:05):
Hey, guys, I appreciate it. Uh, you're talking about Mutt
Varney earlier. I'm in Georgetown. I attended to his basketball
camp when I was a child, and he was my
assistant principal in high school. But one little other fact
that you didn't mention about him. You remember the hay
burned Jim Barney. Yes, that was a cousin of his.

Speaker 2 (30:30):
I did not know that Ernest, so I was Mutt. See,
we learned something new every day. Absolutely appreciate the call, sir,
Thank you very much. Volunteers of America Mid States, part
of Volunteers of America, have a new facility they've opened
in Louisville for those with developmental disabilities, intellectual or who

(30:52):
have needs in the community. It is located Louisville Metro
Broke Ground on the Community Care Campus in downtown Louisville
for unhoused individuals to access a variety of service. You
can learn more at voamid dot org. Volunteers of America
is a great organization. They've started working with us and
I've learned what they do, housing justice, veteran support, and

(31:12):
a lot more Volunteers of America Mid States ready willing
and able to help you. Go to voamid dot org.
We'll take a break, make our final segment here at Poppies.
This is KSR, what about It is the final segment
here Kentucky Sports Radio Poppies Mexican Restaurant. We are out

(31:35):
here at Palomar Fountains and their three locations. Thank you
for them as hosts. Great Taco Week is coming up.
They got a heated patio outside, got a full house
here tonight and hope everybody, everybody enjoy their margarita they
got today. Good.

Speaker 1 (31:52):
It seems a little more lively here at the end
of the show after and.

Speaker 5 (31:56):
You can bring your babies on Wednesday because kids eat free,
Kids eat free Opennesday.

Speaker 2 (31:59):
That's why I come here six days a week. Wednesday.
Wednesday is the one day that I try to to
try to avoid. Okay, So from DraftKings, time to make
our Draft Kings picks of the week. Go to DraftKings
dot com. We're gonna go through the SEC game. Just
tell me who's gonna win. Texas is at South Carolina.
Do they South Carolina get their first win? Yes?

Speaker 1 (32:20):
South Carolina gets to win.

Speaker 5 (32:22):
I am agreen, I'm gonna go yes, no, sorry, I think.

Speaker 4 (32:26):
They're going winless.

Speaker 2 (32:27):
Texas kind of needs this game to be sure on
the tournament. I think South Carolina gets their first win.
I think it happens today. Missouri is at Arkansas. Speaking
of a huge game, this is basically a win in
your in for Cal lose their schedule getting they could
still make it, but this is a win in your in.
Do you think Cal gets the victory over Missouri.

Speaker 1 (32:48):
I think Missouri is playing better than anybody in the
conference right now, even Auburn. I pick Missouri.

Speaker 5 (32:53):
Cal's gotta you know he wins these games.

Speaker 2 (32:56):
Do you think he has no chance?

Speaker 5 (32:58):
But I'm still gonna Missouri tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (33:00):
He wins the games when they're on the road and
not know he's winning at home. I'm gonna take Missouri
to win, big Z.

Speaker 4 (33:06):
You don't have to make them all. You just can't
miss them all like you did. I think that was
their shot to pull off an upset, and they fell
apart at the end. They lose this one.

Speaker 2 (33:15):
Florida, Is that lsu Elise. You's been playing pretty good
here in the last couple of weeks.

Speaker 3 (33:20):
Getting into our game. Any chance they went at home
against Florida.

Speaker 1 (33:22):
I'm taking Florida in that one.

Speaker 4 (33:23):
Give me Florida, Florida.

Speaker 2 (33:25):
I'm gonna take Florida. George's at Auburn. That won't be
a game. Old Miss at Vandy can your big game
for Fandy and making the turns.

Speaker 3 (33:32):
A lot of teams playing.

Speaker 2 (33:33):
This is a big one for Vandy. Do they get
to win.

Speaker 5 (33:35):
Vandy's on the bubble, you know, last four ends, So
I think Vandy does win this game Tomorrow, I'm gonna.

Speaker 1 (33:41):
I'm gonna lose shann I'm gonna take Vandy.

Speaker 4 (33:43):
I've only picked favorites. I'll go Vandy here. I'll go
with the Commodore's winning.

Speaker 2 (33:47):
I'm gonna take Old Miss. They'll have probably half the crown.
Mississippi State at Oklahoma. Oklahoma's been reeling. They're probably out
of the tournament right now. But if they want to
make it, probably got to win this game and then
beat us next week. Do you think they do it?

Speaker 1 (34:00):
Mississippi State gets them.

Speaker 2 (34:01):
Give me the Bulldogs.

Speaker 4 (34:02):
You know, Oklahoma's done. They'll have a new coach next year,
and they'll lose this game.

Speaker 2 (34:05):
Mississippi State and finally the game Kentucky and Alabama is
a huge game. But the other big game of the
weekend Top ten matchup Tennessee is at Texas A and M.
This is number six versus seven in the country. A
and M wins this, they could be a two seed
in the NCAA tournament. Nobody's really talked about it. Who
you got?

Speaker 1 (34:23):
Yeah, Texas A and M. I think if some of
the games fall right, they could be even a number
one seed in the NCAA tournament.

Speaker 5 (34:29):
Tennessee is still kind of suspect to me. I think
A and L wins this game tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (34:32):
By the way, we want Tennessee to win because or
will either one of these teams because we have a
tie breaker on both of them in the SEC SED.

Speaker 6 (34:42):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (34:42):
That A and M game and ROP proved to be
a really big win, even though they destroyed Lamont Butler
and they're the reason he's out. I'm going with A
and M.

Speaker 2 (34:49):
It's an eleven am local start there, which I think
is kind of weird, will probably hurt their crowd, So
I will take Tennessee to get the win on the road.
Who's up next?

Speaker 1 (35:00):
No?

Speaker 2 (35:00):
Up next?

Speaker 6 (35:01):
No?

Speaker 3 (35:01):
By the way, do we beat LSU and women's.

Speaker 2 (35:05):
Yeah, I say, yeah, this is okay. She's she's not
been playing. We're winning Sunday. I don't know about the
gymnastics today, but we're winning basketball.

Speaker 4 (35:15):
He's done tonight.

Speaker 2 (35:16):
Oh bring that bell.

Speaker 4 (35:18):
I don't even know how they score, but we're winning
about three point two points.

Speaker 2 (35:21):
All right, go ahead, sir.

Speaker 9 (35:24):
Oh you're here.

Speaker 11 (35:24):
Hows'm going the first time a long time?

Speaker 2 (35:26):
Who what's up?

Speaker 9 (35:30):
Shout out to Shannon for the getting Brown's stc on
some little unny connection there. Secondly, prayers out to Eastern
hopefully they can get some relief. Absolutely terrible.

Speaker 10 (35:45):
Got a lot of family down there.

Speaker 7 (35:47):
And thirdly, lastly, pretty excited about the rest of the
basketball season.

Speaker 8 (35:51):
Uh.

Speaker 9 (35:52):
A little bit of a rocky road growing up, but
I think it'll all work on this time.

Speaker 2 (35:57):
All right, thanks, Hope, you're right, appreciate the call. Yes,
Shannon's big time. Now you're officially a media member. Like
Billy who claimed to be a journalist on the plane,
you actually are a journalist getting to go to the game.

Speaker 5 (36:07):
Oh it took me fifteen years.

Speaker 2 (36:09):
You know.

Speaker 4 (36:11):
I still hope for anybody you ask a question in
the pres conference like you have to.

Speaker 5 (36:15):
You gotta ask to ask the first question, ask who's
this guy?

Speaker 9 (36:19):
Dude?

Speaker 3 (36:20):
I thought you were gonna ask the coach who's this guy?

Speaker 2 (36:23):
You should do that first game? Who are you? Who's next? Greg?
Is up there? Greg? Go ahead? Greg?

Speaker 6 (36:31):
Hey?

Speaker 2 (36:31):
God?

Speaker 11 (36:32):
How you doing?

Speaker 2 (36:33):
Good?

Speaker 9 (36:35):
Great?

Speaker 8 (36:36):
Yall hap to catch that? Doctor nevering?

Speaker 3 (36:38):
Would bet you watched it last high? What did you
think about it?

Speaker 1 (36:42):
I watched it last night. It's outstanding. I've never seen
that footage before. Jamal mash presented a lot, but Coach
K comes out as a jerk in this one.

Speaker 2 (36:52):
Are you surprised he's always a jerk.

Speaker 1 (36:53):
I mean he takes it to another level.

Speaker 3 (36:56):
He yelled at my ex girlfriend like I mean, of course.

Speaker 5 (36:58):
Let me ask you this, like, before you watch that the documentary,
did you think that Coach K is a really good guy?
He's a nice guy and it just like opened your eyes?

Speaker 9 (37:05):
Right?

Speaker 1 (37:05):
Was just like he's almost anti American?

Speaker 2 (37:08):
What he does is we mean he's anti Marrioric. I
don't want to spoil it for you. Who knew he
was anti mart to watch it? Certain?

Speaker 3 (37:16):
Did you think Coach K was anti American?

Speaker 2 (37:20):
No?

Speaker 8 (37:21):
But he's definitely rat that's for sure.

Speaker 2 (37:25):
Okay, Well fifteen seconds. You call him anti American and
rat face. I felt like that it must be a
heck of a documentary. I appreciate the call.

Speaker 3 (37:35):
Who's next, Chad is up there?

Speaker 2 (37:37):
Chad?

Speaker 3 (37:37):
Go ahead?

Speaker 2 (37:38):
Chad?

Speaker 6 (37:42):
Hello, Yes, hey, Matt. We've been talking about all these
different lineups racially and with watching the game the other night.
And if we don't get the call her back in
the lineup by tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (37:59):
Well he's Carr played the last game.

Speaker 3 (38:01):
By Carr played at the last game, he's back.

Speaker 1 (38:06):
He started.

Speaker 6 (38:06):
Yeah, okay, So what if they put Colin Chandler in
as a point because he looked a lot more comfortable
running that point than what Travis Perry did. Perry did
be at the two and you got away.

Speaker 2 (38:20):
Yeah, we're not playing Parry. We're not playing Perry at
the two. I mean that that's not gonna work. I mean,
if you had Chandler and Perry at your guards, you're
gonna get destroyed in the back court.

Speaker 3 (38:28):
Let me ask you a question. I appreciate the call.

Speaker 2 (38:30):
Any chance you would consider starting Colin Chandler point guard.
I know he's not only played well this year, but
he played great in the last game. Would you consider
that at Alabama.

Speaker 4 (38:40):
Maybe, but I think Travis has started games pretty well.
Just the Wills fell off at Texas, I would still
start Travis. But Colin has absolutely earned more minutes of
all the freshmen and really a lot of people on
the team. Defensively, he's been one of the most active
players all year. It's just his offense has been so bad,
so him getting seven points in the last game might
have been a little bit of a breakthrough for him.

(39:00):
All around contribution.

Speaker 2 (39:02):
Even when he was playing really bad offensively, Ryan he
was pretty good defensively. He actually would was decent guarding
the ball. So actually I can see him. I think
he's gonna get minutes in Alabama, don't you think.

Speaker 1 (39:14):
Oh, I think he gets a lot of minutes. Because
we talked about those al of those three guards. You know,
somebody's got a guard, Sears, Hallowell, Pedigrew. There's three good guards.
Who's gonna guard him. That's why Channel's gonna be on
the field, on the court a lot. I think this
for defensive reasons.

Speaker 2 (39:26):
I have to tell you, there's not been a bigger
surprise to me than how Chandler played at the point.
Maybe that's where you got to play him Cauz like
he he has looked so lost on offense all year,
and then all of a sudden when he was at
the point, it was almost like drew it unleashed whatever
his strength, whatever that is.

Speaker 4 (39:46):
Yeah, he had a couple of bad turnovers, but we'll
forgive those for all the other stuff he did. He
had a great finish at the rim where he got fouled.
I like when he drove to the rim and he
threw it over to I believe car in the corner
who knocked down a three.

Speaker 3 (39:56):
He had another one the guy just missed the shot.

Speaker 2 (39:58):
Yeah, another one of those.

Speaker 4 (39:59):
And just you know, Trent and Travis both offer a lot,
but athletically, Colin Chandler is another level. Just as pure athleticism.
I think they need that he can.

Speaker 2 (40:09):
I think part of the reason Pope is so high
on him is he is a good athlete. Like some
of these other guys, athleticism is not the strict. He
is a good athlete if he can get the skill.

Speaker 4 (40:19):
He dunked on Brandon Garrison hard in the Blue White Game.
I mean he looked like a different player and that's
just a practice scrimmage.

Speaker 2 (40:26):
You can have an argument he's like our second best
athlete on the team, at least of the perimeter players
behind Oway, no doubt. So who's up next?

Speaker 4 (40:35):
Justin?

Speaker 3 (40:35):
I got like a minute go ahead?

Speaker 11 (40:39):
Hey guys, I'm from eastern Kentucky more than raising Popell.
I just want to call you off and appreciate you
all for all the thoughts Horse where we got flooded
and hit with this nasty snowstorm over the week.

Speaker 2 (40:51):
Well listen, I mean we we probably haven't talked about
it is enough, which because of what's going on. But
I hope people donate to the governors fund arh. But
our prayers are with you. I hope we can get
out there before I want to come to Pikeville before
we go to the SEC tournament. But I want all
of you all to know we are thinking about you,

(41:13):
the people in this crowd, Like Kentucky is a state
that comes together, and I know that's gonna happen for
this as well. But I don't think this go ahead this.
I don't think people realize this hasn't quite gotten the
coverage the last one did, but I don't think people
realize the amount of devastation there.

Speaker 11 (41:32):

Are You A Charlotte?

In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. As we watched Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte navigate relationships in NYC, the show helped push once unacceptable conversation topics out of the shadows and altered the narrative around women and sex. We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today. "Are you a Charlotte?" is much more than just rewatching this beloved show, it brings the past and the present together as we talk with heart, humor and of course some optimism.
