Welcome to our two of Kentucky Sports Radio present it
by Stockton Mortgage. Now here's Matt Jones.
Speaker 4 (01:10):
Welcome back out number two Tucky Sports Radio eight. I'm
nine two eight twenty two eighty seven. We are now
open for lunch here at the KS Bar and Grill.
Let's go over a couple of things. Tomorrow are remote
is at the Lexington Sporting Club, the soccer complex out
there on the edge of next to the Athens Boonsboro exit.
(01:31):
It'll be at the stadium. You pull up and they
will show you where we're gonna be. We'll you'll be
able to see the new complex. We'll be giving stuff away.
So that is tomorrow Ryan ten to noon for the show.
Speaker 2 (01:44):
I'm excited about it because they're gonna take us on
a little inside tour and I think even fans that
come out there got a chance to win tickets and
maybe get a tour. So it'd be a lot of fun,
especially if you've got any interested on the soccer program.
Get out there and watch.
Speaker 4 (01:54):
Check it out on soccer team. Soccer team. Yes, yeah,
it's but Lexington Sporting Club. Go see the new stadium.
Get that they have some great gear. I always I
look forward to getting some new gear. Not even a
chance to win free tickets. It's everyone at the show
gets two free tickets to the game. Look at that
free tickets to the game on March eight, So there
(02:14):
you go. That will be remember. And I think Kentucky
plays at noon that day and then the games later
in the day, so you could do very cool. You
could do both. So if I'm nine to two eight
h twenty two eighty seven, let's talk about a couple
other things real quick before we get back the game.
Gene Hackman was found dead this morning. He, his wife,
and his dog all found dead in their house, but
(02:36):
foul play was not suspected. So you gotta think, what
is that?
Speaker 2 (02:41):
You think, like, yeah, that's like that to get all
both of them and the dog.
Speaker 4 (02:45):
Yeah, that's that really stinks. Interesting. But Gene Hackman had
quite a life. I mean, let's see, what what is
he best known for? Probably Ryan would say the coach on.
Speaker 2 (02:55):
Hoosiers Normandale head coach of the Hickory Huskers and.
Speaker 4 (02:58):
Hoosiers' that's like your favorite movie.
Speaker 2 (03:01):
It is the best movie I think ever made ever ever.
Speaker 4 (03:04):
Okay, So that's and then what else he played in
Crimson Tide. It wasn't that with with Denzel Shannon. Do
you have a Gene Hackman.
Speaker 5 (03:12):
Movement Behind Enemy Lines. I love that movie.
Speaker 6 (03:17):
All right, that's mine too, Shannon. I love that movie. Also,
he was the coach in the Replacements. He won an
Academy Award early on for The French Connection.
Speaker 4 (03:26):
That's he's in a really good movie that has kind
of gotten forgotten the history, but is like one of
the really good seventies movies. The Conversation I have ever seen.
That French Connection is good too. I don't know if
it stands up as well just because it's like, well,
but I don't mean to critics. I think it's I
think it's very good. He was in Royal Tannebaumb's Okay,
(03:47):
played played Lex Luthor. Oh yeah, the original Superman, the
original Superman. Uh. I also think he was good in
a movie it was called maybe Mississippi Burning. Yeah, that
was like in the maybe the late eighties something like that.
Speaker 6 (03:59):
The State and Behind Enemy Lines. I guess I'm big
when he has enemy in the title. Those are my
two favorites.
Speaker 4 (04:04):
So rest in peace to Gene Hackman. Also, I think
he was nominated. He was in Bonnie and Clyde for
people who like want to go weekly. Yeah, I think
he got He has been nominated for Here are the
movies he's nominate for it, The Conversation, French Connection, Bonnie
and Clyde. He was nominated for Mississippi Burning, Unforgiven with
(04:26):
Clint Eastwood. You remember that he doesn't look like you
remember that? And then, uh, he's just he did a
lot of television late in his life.
Speaker 6 (04:35):
So how about ninety five years old? Would anyone have
guessed that I had?
Speaker 4 (04:39):
That is? That's quite old? All right? So a full life,
A full life? How about that? Rest in peace to
Gene Hackman. Then we got to make fun of Louisville
for a second. Okay, So you know yesterday we just
happened to talk about this fans Steak thing, and I said, like,
it's just I don't know, Like I don't know. I
(05:00):
think about that right, like I think it's a little
I don't know. So fan Steak that's the company if
you remember who like, you can give money to them
and they pledge it to a recruit and then if
the recruit picks that school, I guess they get the money.
So they did an add campaign with KSR the website.
Now remind you, first of all, I don't own KSR.
(05:22):
The website anymore. So I don't control what they do.
I still have, you know, a consulting kind of role
with them, but I don't like control it. So I
didn't even know they did this, But but fans Steak
basically said, if you use the code KSR, we'll give
you twenty five free dollars to give to a team.
And the reason they did that is they were trying
(05:42):
to get the big Blue nation involved, right right, So
our KSR writers tweet out here, use this code free
twenty five dollars. Louisville fans, who seem to have the
collective intelligence sometimes of Geese, somehow turn that into they
think I'm giving twenty five dollars like out of my
(06:04):
pocket to these recruits. Not now. Yesterday morning, I was
very clear, I don't even think this is a good idea, right,
But they had turned it into Matt Jones is giving
twenty five dollars away to the recruits. Let's pull one
over on him, and let's use their code and give
it to Louisville. So again, the intellectuals on the internet
(06:30):
just they keep doing it, which is fine. You're giving
this Nate a mint kid money, I guess, assuming he
gets the money. But it became like online, we've cost
Matt Jones forty thousand dollars when Nate A Mint picks Louisville. Well,
I wasn't online a lot in the afternoon, and then
I look and everybody's like, you got owned. We're gonna
own you, We're gonna make you broke forty You going
(06:53):
out of mudget and gonna be in the four house
because of Louisville. And I was like, you are the
biggest suckers in the world. First of all, there are
a million codes to that thing. They have their own code,
they have their Louisville has their own code.
Speaker 6 (07:05):
You used our code. Actually you probably helped KSR get
the credit.
Speaker 4 (07:09):
Here's the thing, ks You all made KSR money. Every
time you used the code, KSR got money. So the
reason I wasn't stopping you is because you buffoons were
handing our company money. You could have there was a
code for Louisville, there was a code for your websites
that would have given your websites money, and instead, you
(07:30):
foolish people gave us money. And guess what, we ain't
paying it. Whether you go or not, this company, I
guess will pay it. I don't know if they will
or not, but these idiots thought they had somehow pulled
one over on Kentucky when all they did was make
KSR money. That's all you did. And when he doesn't
(07:52):
pick Louisville and he picks Duke or Arkansas or Kentucky
or whatever, you will have given us money and accomplished
nothing except three hours of patting yourself on the back
and thinking you did something. So we thank you. You know,
I get a revenue share of the of the profit
from KSR. The check will be a few dollars more
(08:13):
next year because of you buffoons.
Speaker 2 (08:15):
Got out well done, well done. Yes, we a heartfelt think.
Speaker 4 (08:19):
But is that not insane? It is? And they honestly
were bragging. And I had one dude who just kept
writing me, going, how's it going field to write that
forty thousand dollars check? I'm like, you can't really believe
that I would write a forty thousand dollars check to
Nate aimed at to go to Louisville. You think we
would have set up a business where I would have
to do that? Like, stop it. I mean, if I
(08:41):
wanted to give Nate a mint money, I would just
give it to him directly and hav him do ads
for chsbar would not, I believe, why would I go
through fans stake?
Speaker 6 (08:53):
I was at the baseball game and I saw you
before the pregame show, were sitting on the couch, and
I was like, somebody said, we got burned?
Speaker 4 (08:58):
Did we get burned?
Speaker 6 (08:59):
I don't feel I don't even know what's going on,
to be honest, and haven't had one thought about it
since too just brought it up.
Speaker 4 (09:05):
The other thing is Nate Amen is getting offered in
ile packages upward of two million dollars. Do y'all really
think he's gonna pick his college based on whether or
not he gets thirty five dollars from the Louisville Like,
stop it. He's getting like a two million wherever he goes.
It ain't gonna be because of.
Speaker 2 (09:25):
That, right you're explaining this yesterday. I don't even know
how this is even gonna be out of work in theory.
Speaker 4 (09:31):
The theory is that everyone puts money in for their team,
and then if he picks your team, he gets the money,
and if he picks the other team, you get your money,
get your money back. That's the theory. Behind it. Good
luck with that. There you go.
Speaker 6 (09:45):
Who's I'm never gonna recover from yesterday's burn though I
don't even know how I got up behind it.
Speaker 4 (09:50):
I'm gonna go eat at Chipotle today thanks to you,
Louisville fans. And I'm gonna get the walk because of you.
I'm low down, I'm gonna ge.
Speaker 6 (10:00):
You know, I get a second Quakers throw it on
the ground because you've got so much money.
Speaker 4 (10:03):
Now, who's next?
Speaker 5 (10:05):
Pierce?
Speaker 4 (10:06):
Pierce? Go ahead, Pierce.
Speaker 7 (10:11):
Hey, guys, have you seen the show Severance?
Speaker 4 (10:14):
Yes?
Speaker 8 (10:18):
Okay, Peers, You're gonna have to move faster.
Speaker 4 (10:21):
We're gonna have to move faster, keep going.
Speaker 9 (10:23):
What is it I I think we need I think
we need to put this punk Billy in the breakthrough.
Speaker 4 (10:31):
I think that's where he needs to go.
Speaker 9 (10:32):
He needs to learn his lesson.
Speaker 4 (10:34):
Yeah, I mean, I think Billy, there is an argument,
Shannon for punishment. I appreciate the call now, I mean, like,
not because he did anything wrong, but because we have
to have better judgment, you know, like you have. I
can't remember the last time you've upset me with a call,
like like with a with a producing decision, do you?
I mean you're a producer, do you have sympathy for
him or do you blame.
Speaker 5 (10:53):
I mean a little bit.
Speaker 3 (10:54):
I mean, like we've said, we've had these conversations with callers.
Don't call every single show, but.
Speaker 4 (11:00):
He doesn't call every show.
Speaker 5 (11:01):
Well, see, I don't know how they're in that situation.
Speaker 4 (11:03):
This was her third straight show, but like she probably
calls one out of every five or.
Speaker 3 (11:07):
Six, right, and it's not every day like the call
in show is that we're on right now, where it's
every single day you're calling.
Speaker 5 (11:13):
So it's a little bit different.
Speaker 10 (11:14):
And it's also one thirty in the morning. Yeah, So
like Billy a little bit though, Okay, but I don't
like that she cried that. That kind of made me
feel bad for her that she got that upset.
Speaker 2 (11:26):
I think you got to read the room sometimes understand
what she's been through. She never calls the morning shows.
It's always just the postgame show.
Speaker 4 (11:32):
And I looked at it was one thirty eight in
the morning. You know, at one thirty eight in the morning,
unless it's Bob and Jamestown, I'm four, Oh. I want
him to call to day to talk about Ellie. How
about Ellie? Another home run? He is hitting six fifty.
Right now in spring trade he's hitting six fifty and
(11:54):
Matt McClain three for three yesterday. I mean, the summer
of Ellie is he Mario. I need you to get
excited about Ellie. I also need Ryan to not talk
about your hair anymore. After the pregame show yesterday, that
was That was quite a It was a fun pregame.
It was one of my favorite pregame shows we've ever done.
(12:14):
The ball we talked, I mean, it's just breaking down film. Yeah,
I mean, just I don't know that it was random
if you just turned on the radio and you heard pause,
Ryan Lemon go I have a black son. I don't
know that that was necessary for the morning show, but
it's good for the pregame show. Fit for the pregame show.
You think that's good for the pregame. He was a
(12:35):
six thirty start. If it's not necessarily of the morning, Okay, gotcha?
Who's up next? The good thing is there's no tape
of that one, so here you go, Mark Anthony, Mark Anthony,
go ahead.
Speaker 11 (12:45):
Hey, Matthew Andrews Shennon, Hey, I know a few u
of l fans where I'm at, and they are some
forty what bugs, but just the same likes to say
that the game rewards you or punishes you to depending
on how you play it, whether you play hard and
play well. Otega got rewarded last night. He was the
(13:08):
example of that old phrase refuse to lose. He wasn't
going to come out of there with Nell bless He's
hard and I was real happy to see Brandon Garrison
on defense at least four different times smother dudes, and
I don't want to be blasphemous or anything, but there
(13:28):
were shades of Willy there a few times. And if
you can do it, if you can do it, we will,
I say, don't want to be blessings. You can do it.
If you can do it four or five times, you
can do it every time. And I think Coach Pope's
going to take those clips from the film and show
him you see what you did? You see what you did?
Speaker 4 (13:46):
No, he did a great job. Like he did a
great job. I appreciate the calling. I was more impressed
about Garrison's defense than anything because he slid his feet.
He's He's always been to me through a little awkward right,
like just kind of a it'll it just doesn't feel
like he completely has grown into his body, and but
like he looked like a defender in that second half
(14:09):
and you see where you know he's the one guy
that NBA scouts say could play in the league. I
think you saw that last night as to why they
say that, at least right.
Speaker 6 (14:18):
Hopeful it's a breakthrough. And I used the Willy comparison
at the beginning of the show Garden Guards. I mean,
he's not Willie, but the fact that you got a
big man that gets switched on Jeremiah Fears and can
shut him down, that that's pretty rare and hopefully that'll continue.
It makes me wonder some of the guards who've already
faced being shorthanded if they had even gone to that
in the past. But it was such a good game,
and I think the key was his baby son being there.
(14:39):
And I'm right and I'm sorry, but I think Brandon's
baby needs to be at all games.
Speaker 4 (14:43):
The baby was at the press conference.
Speaker 2 (14:45):
At the press conference too, Yeah, you want to show
off ree son.
Speaker 4 (14:47):
So is that all right with you?
Speaker 6 (14:49):
Ryan can can baby Garrison started coming to more games
because it clearly he played well because of that.
Speaker 2 (14:53):
That's a good point if if Brandon's gonna play like that,
I think baby Garrison is welcome to every game.
Speaker 4 (14:57):
Hey, it's love at First Drive at Don Franklin. Who's

bar and grill. You can come by and see us.
Jamie's here fixing things so that should help, uh, and
we'll be right back. This is Kentucky Sports Radio. I
(15:42):
love this song like this is the when you're talking
about guilty pleasure sons. This is like if this is
not number one for me, it's up there like I
don't want to like it? Would you like it? But
I do? Cause it's I mean and this is crazy.
So here's my number. Call me maybe come on now?
How could you not like this song.
Speaker 2 (15:59):
Harvard baseball team video is the first thing I think
of when we hear this song.
Speaker 4 (16:02):
You think of the Harvard baseball team.
Speaker 2 (16:04):
It was like one of the first viral videos ever
and they did a thing and while they were all
in a van going to a road game, and they
did a little thing to this song.
Speaker 4 (16:11):
I don't remember that. I have no idea what you're
talking about. I do know that I like this song.
I will say, you can bring about any group of
people and this is a song that'll get them going,
like you. You'd be anywhere and this this starts playing
and people are like, all right, I can I can
get with this.
Speaker 6 (16:27):
I mentioned this before. My friends and I have a
game that's gone almost ten years where we have a
song and if it comes on all we're out. You
have to buy around and this is mine, is your song.
I've actually been to a Carl Ray Jepson concert by
myself because that's my song.
Speaker 4 (16:39):
I said, Miley, it's Carl ray Jepson. Why, I say, right,
this is my shot song. So I'll get around. At
the break, she's still around, Like what does she do now?
Just living off this money? I assume probably yeah, Carly
Ray all right, I like that great Canadian If I'm nine,
two eighth, twenty two eighty seven. The UK and Tennessee
women's teams play tonight, big game, four out the Cats.
(17:00):
We need to get a big win. You know, we
lost Texas, we were never really close. Should have beat LSU.
I think didn't. But now you got Tennessee at home tonight,
sold out Rocking Memorial Coliseum. This would be a big
game for Kenny. I think it would guarantee him a
top four seed. It would probably guarantee them a first
round by in the SEC tournament. Massive game and you're
(17:22):
playing Tennessee. You want to get a win.
Speaker 2 (17:24):
I hope they have a good bounce back performance because
they had that. They had LSU beat down on what
sixteen point? They were sixteen Yeah, kind of couldn't hang
on and.
Speaker 4 (17:31):
Came back and took the LSU came back, got up
eight and then picked the lead again. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (17:36):
So they show they could play with the superior teams
of the conference. Should give them some confidence going to
the Tennessee game tonight.
Speaker 4 (17:42):
Yeah. So hopefully we will hopefully we'll get we'll get
a victory tonight. Three point underdog. I just put it
from the Kentucky is yep. Okay. So also if you
are in Lexington for tonight for Kentucky Tennessee or the
Blake Shelton concert, we will have like pregame fest divities here.
We're gonna be playing some Blake Shelting.
Speaker 12 (18:02):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (18:02):
The UK Women's Game will be on here tonight. So
get your family, friends or just people you meet on
the street and come by here.
Speaker 2 (18:09):
You think Blake Shelton talks a little trash tonight while
he's up on stage.
Speaker 4 (18:13):
He can't he lost?
Speaker 2 (18:14):
Yeah, you think he'll say we talk trash to him? Okay,
you scream at.
Speaker 4 (18:18):
Him and go bb in.
Speaker 6 (18:20):
Maybe some go big blue, don't throw anything or don't
do Oklahoma behavior, but let them know they wont so.
Speaker 4 (18:26):
Besides old Red, give me a Blake Shelton song. Oh boy,
honey bee, how's that go?
Speaker 2 (18:32):
Uh? You can go to the website of TRD there give.
Speaker 4 (18:35):
Me, give me, give me a sense what honeymoon?
Speaker 2 (18:37):
You know I'm horrible at this?
Speaker 11 (18:39):
Uh?
Speaker 4 (18:39):
You know you you can be my honeybee. It's called
you can be my honey bee.
Speaker 2 (18:44):
You can be my honey bee. No, that's not how
it goes.
Speaker 4 (18:46):
That's not how it goes. But you're singing you can
be my bodyguard. Yeah, that's crazy. You can't. And I
can call you free and you call me Sally like.
That's not how it goes. No, that's not how it goes.
So how's it go? Honeybee keep saying the word. I'm
asking you how the song goes?
Speaker 2 (19:07):
I need some help, Shannon, can Shannon find it?
Speaker 4 (19:09):
Play?
Speaker 5 (19:10):
I can play it for you, all right?
Speaker 4 (19:11):
Well, no, play old Red. That's what I want to hear.
Speaker 5 (19:14):
He had Austin. You know that song?
Speaker 4 (19:16):
Oh Austin, of course, Yeah, this is Austin.
Speaker 5 (19:20):
I still love boys around here.
Speaker 4 (19:25):
Stupid stupid heard that song? I hate it, but I've
heard that some beach some but yeah, I hate that
song too. He'll billy Austin. I don't know he'll billy bow,
but I can guarantee you I wouldn't like it. I also,
I don't know how I'm good off getting off on this.
But you know how you get a song in your
head and it just it just stays there. For me,
(19:47):
yesterday I could not get my cousin's song out with
that old colron. Yes, and then I know what is something?
You always make fun of how I say the state
to the south of US. Yes, that's how he says
it all in the song. Yeah, I could tell she'd
(20:09):
love Eastern Tennessee. That's how he says it.
Speaker 2 (20:13):
It's kinda be something about that part of the country.
Speaker 4 (20:15):
Yes, But while I take this call, find saying in
my boot chaining and just get to the chorus where
he's and listen to how he says Tennessee made fun
of me for saying it, And he's from there, and
he's from where I.
Speaker 2 (20:27):
Was around everybody says it that way down a sneedful.
Speaker 4 (20:30):
Accent, something about the way she kissed me. She loves
Eastern Tennessee. Right, Tennessee. We'll play the actual thing. You
can compare, Okay, Who's next? Okay, turn it up? Yes,
(20:50):
I mean I even though he's my cousin, I'm not
a huge fan of his music, but I do like
this song. You see exactly how I say for years
for saying.
Speaker 2 (21:07):
Because you guys are the only people that say it
that Waynis Tennessee.
Speaker 4 (21:10):
Who's next?
Speaker 5 (21:11):
Connor?
Speaker 4 (21:11):
Halloween? Halloween? Connor?
Speaker 7 (21:13):
Go ahead, Connor, Hey, Matt, good to talk to you again.
Uh set by set right behind the UK bench last night,
and uh man, that was one of the best basketball
games I've ever seen. I cannot believe you said I
didn't know that he stayed after the game inside the arena. Hell,
I went outside and we were standing by the bus.
Speaker 9 (21:33):
For about seven people.
Speaker 4 (21:35):
You missed it. He stayed in the arena and he
sounded signed one hundred and fifth they said. Adam said,
around one hundred and fifty autographs.
Speaker 7 (21:43):
Right, and we and I stood by that bus for
over an hour. I got my pictures with Pope and
in with some of the players. But yeah, I didn't
know he stayed in the arena. I would buy the
bus for over an hour outside, so that's pretty crazy.
But uh man, I'm already came out of that uh
out of that arena to the bus, and that ankle
was wrapped up pretty heavy, and he was he was
(22:04):
limping pretty hard. So hopefully he can get get right
by this weekend. But I'm pretty nervous about that.
Speaker 4 (22:13):
For this Auburn game. There's a part of me that
would say, if anybody's not for certain able, just sit
it out. I want to win. But like you could
come in, fellas, come on in, picking through the window,
peeking through the Come on, he here you go, pull there.
It is well done. He looks peeking through the window
like he never been inside a building before. All right,
but do you agree? I appreciate the call. Do you
(22:34):
agree with that? Yeah?
Speaker 6 (22:36):
You hate to have the surrender of mentality. I mean,
they could still win, but just looking at what it
would mean to the team if you lose, it would
not really impact you all. Auburn's so good, they're running
away with the regular season title. I mean, if anything,
it would help you out in SEC seating, but it's
not really going to impact your NCAA seating. So if
someone has the potential or they're kind of close and
hurt themselves by playing again, I would understand leaving them
(22:58):
on ice in that one.
Speaker 2 (22:59):
Yeah, listen to all doesn't necessarily really hurt you. I'd
rather have those everybody as healthy as possible for l
s U.
Speaker 4 (23:05):
Missouri in the n We'll say, though, if you win
this game, you can be a two seed in the term.
Crazy like all of a sudden. I mean, if if
you were to win this game, I think you are
a two seed in the term because Texas A and
M's a two right now and they just lost at home.
So this is Honeybee, what you were singing?
Speaker 5 (23:26):
I have yeah, because he says, I'll be your Conway twelve.
Speaker 4 (23:29):
Because that was that was the day I was in
Ambi and I think KSR. T J. Smith, personal injury attorney,
called TJ.
Speaker 1 (23:41):
He'll make them pay.
Speaker 3 (23:42):
Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Speaker 5 (23:46):
Here's Matt Jones.
Speaker 4 (23:47):
It's a good song. Didn't you say Larry loves this song?
This is the that's the only That's the reason I
like it is it's just like Larry. The only music
that I know Larry likes is he likes classical music,
so he would turn on a station that literally played
like you know, concertos and stuff, and then he likes
(24:08):
gospel music, like secular music that's not classical. I don't
even know what he likes because I don't know that
he's ever been to a concert that I know of.
But then he likes this song like it's the only song.
If you were to say to me, what is the
song Larry Blondale likes outside of like hymns, this is
(24:30):
the only one I know.
Speaker 2 (24:32):
So you know, that's what I associate this song with. Now,
because you told me, I don't know.
Speaker 4 (24:37):
About a dog going to like hook up with another dog.
Did Larry have a dog? Is there a dog connection?
That's maybe he had a dog named old Red music.
He always just for some reason, it always makes me
makes me laugh about nine two eight twenty two eighty seven.
Let me give you your Draft Kings NCAA Championship picks.
You go to Draft Kings code KSR. Here of the
(25:00):
odds right now for the men's title from DraftKings. Okay,
which of these do you think is the best bet?
You can only bet one of these? Switch do you
want to bet? Auburn is plus three hundred, They're the favorite.
That means three to one. Duke is plus three forty five,
Houston is plus seven point fifty, Florida is plus eight
(25:20):
seventy five. Alabama's plus nine hundred. If you had to
place a bet on one of those things, what would
you do?
Speaker 2 (25:28):
I'll go first, I'll take I would take Alabama plus
nine hundred.
Speaker 4 (25:32):
I got just because it's the most odds.
Speaker 2 (25:34):
I think they are really really good.
Speaker 4 (25:36):
So you're gonna take Alabama. I'm taking Alabama? What about you? Drew?
Speaker 6 (25:39):
Easy pick for me, I think Houston is gonna be
my team to win it all this year. You're telling me,
I get what was it seven to fifty almost eight
to one, that'd be my play.
Speaker 4 (25:48):
When you and I talk gambling, we like share a brain.
I see that, and the one that sticks out is
Houston plus seven fifty because I think Houston can win it.
I think Houston plays a style that is really built
for the NCAA tournament. And again, they've had a great
defense for the last seven years. Yeah, but now they
have a great offense this year and they that's not
(26:09):
been something they've had a lot of years. Houston at
plus seven fifty. I really like Kelvin Sampson. Is he
the best no one talks about coach in the country.
I mean, think about that. He wanted Indiana and then
he had to leave for the phone calls and Houston
a program you haven't thought about since Hakeem and Clyde Drexler.
He has turned into a perennial continder. They are a
(26:32):
contender every single year with players we don't even know.
Speaker 2 (26:36):
Ever, Houston's been the conversation for a number one seed.
You're right, for like the last four or five years
before Indiana was he at Oklahoma and had really good
success at Oklahoma.
Speaker 4 (26:44):
He had success. I think didn't he take him to
the final fourth in Oklahoma? Think he did? I think
he did. I think he took him to with well he.
Speaker 6 (26:52):
Made He went from Oklahoma in Indiana and then he
had to disappear to the NBA when he got that
show cause year whatever it was, and then Houston was
his first job back. So they've been knocking on that
door since he's been there.
Speaker 4 (27:02):
I just think he deserves a lot of credit. And
he's also like seventy yeah, and he still is killing it.
Speaker 2 (27:08):
Is he the best coach and has active coach has
not won a tournament? I mean, in't a crown.
Speaker 4 (27:15):
Now? Is yours? Yeah? I bet I think Kelvin Sampson's
the best coach to not win a title. I think
that's a fair Would you agree with that him or
Mark Few? Oh?
Speaker 2 (27:25):
Yeah, that would be'd be a good argument those two
guys right there.
Speaker 6 (27:28):
Well, I just looked at it since Kentucky knocked him
out when that was a good team. When Hero hit
the game winner, they've gone Final four Lite eight, Sweet sixteen,
Sweet sixteen, I mean they're they're in the mix every
year every.
Speaker 2 (27:38):
Year, and uh, like you said, this year, they've got
a good offense to go with that great defense they've
had for several years.
Speaker 4 (27:43):
But can you name one of their players? No, that's
what's crazy. I can't name one player. Can you name
one of their players?
Speaker 12 (27:49):
Uh?
Speaker 6 (27:49):
No, I watched the Arizona game thinking they would lose.
I shouldn't be able to name on watch the game,
but I saw he's got like two top fifteen recruits.
I don't think he's ever.
Speaker 4 (27:58):
Gotten before, so it should be interesting. Who's up next, David, David?
Go ahead? David.
Speaker 13 (28:04):
Hey, Matt Hey, David, how are you good? You were
talking about First of all, you were talking about Gene
Hackman earlier. You forgot one of none of one of
his great performances. He was a blind man and young Frankenstein.
Speaker 9 (28:20):
Remember.
Speaker 4 (28:21):
Oh yeah, I haven't seen that in a long time.
But good memory.
Speaker 13 (28:26):
Yeah, I watched it. I watched it last last summer.
I believe in it was fun. Anyway, I want to
talk about otego Olway. He was since we were talking
about Hackman, he was like Superman last night.
Speaker 4 (28:43):
He was like Superman Man. I mean he literally otaga
Alway scored in every way you could score. He hit
a big three. Drew mentioned earlier, he took it to
the basket and what's crazy he had twenty eight and
he probably could have had forty if he made his layups.
I mean like he was, he really was. That was awesome.
Speaker 6 (29:00):
Id Brandon Garrison gets credit for the final block, but
if you look really closely, always blocked it into Garrison's hands,
so that that should be always blocked.
Speaker 4 (29:09):
That saved the game. You're exactly right, So, David, Yes,
it was a superman kind of performance.
Speaker 13 (29:16):
Yeah, and I was with you. I was worried that
they were going to call technical on Brandon Garrison. I
was like, Dougshells, are you going to do that again?
Speaker 4 (29:24):
You know he did, Doug went. When Doug went to
the monitor, I appreciate the call. I was about to
go in my archives and find that picture that he
didn't like that comes out from when he was sitting
there at that ref camp.
Speaker 2 (29:36):
Yeah, they when they showed the replay, Garrison really didn't
touch him. He just kind of walked up to him
talking track.
Speaker 4 (29:42):
Like they've changed that rule. You're not allowed to get
in someone's face after a play.
Speaker 6 (29:47):
He definitely did that was an aggressive confrontation that it's
just a specific written rule.
Speaker 4 (29:51):
Now in college bat you can't do that.
Speaker 2 (29:54):
There was zero point one second on the clock. You
think they would have called it.
Speaker 4 (29:57):
Well, so it's interesting. Porter, the Oklahoma coach, said they
told him that they were reviewing to see if he
did that. I got a text message from a ref
last night and said they could have called that even
if the clock was over, even if it was zero,
even if it was over there, as long as the
refs are on the court, they could have called that. Now,
(30:18):
he said, I think that would have been, like you
could imagine what the reaction to that would have been.
But but he's gotta be careful. I mean, you're right,
you said this earlier. Drew Amary picked him up and
carried him down the court, and he still wouldn't stop,
like he still was trying to go.
Speaker 6 (30:36):
Even in the handshake line, and Mary's got him in
a full bear hug trying to get him to call
him down.
Speaker 4 (30:40):
He's still mouthing at him the whole time.
Speaker 6 (30:42):
I liked at the end, noway, he's supposed to be
going to the interview and poored deb Moores dragging him
by his Jersey trying to get him over to do
his postgame with the ESPN.
Speaker 4 (30:49):
It was just chaotic scene. Also, I love that Oklahoma put.
Speaker 6 (30:53):
Up the rope and had the security guards so to
keep him from storming the court and just save that
for next time they had surrounded it think and they
had that one.
Speaker 4 (31:01):
It did feel like to me there at the end
the oway was or notway excuse me, Garrison was maybe
a little out of control, like because like Amari was
holding him back, having to carry Then he gets in
the line and basically the handshake line just ends because
he can't stop. There was a sense where I thought, like,
somebody needs to get this dude in the locker room.
Speaker 2 (31:22):
Yeah, someone someone's Oklahoma guy would come on to shake
always hand. And so as they got close, Brandon Garrinon's
yelling and pointing at him so they can get close
to the UK bench.
Speaker 4 (31:29):
Yeah. So luckily he got out there without a scene.
That could have been worse, especially with that beer being thrown,
Like the whole thing could have been a lot worse.
Who's next, Adam go ahead at.
Speaker 12 (31:39):
Him, Hey, Matt, I got a love you, but you
are burying the the postgame story youth ability that there
was a caller that called in saying that he was,
you know, trying to get this kid to bed, and
the kid got back up and he let him watch
(32:01):
the end of the game. And then you said that
you related because in ninety four your parents put you
to bed and you missed the end of the thirty
one point come back against LSU, which really because I
was eight years old and I was exact in the
exact same situation.
Speaker 4 (32:18):
But you're gonna say that I was fifteen, right, Is
that what you're gonna say?
Speaker 11 (32:24):
Exactly?
Speaker 4 (32:25):
I was fifteen, Okay, So let me explain that because
I did say this, and this is true. I appreciate
the call. I missed the ninety four comeback because I
had to go to bed. And the next day Larry said,
by the way, we won. And I told that story
last night because this guy was talking about his kid
(32:45):
who was like eleven that did that. And then people
last night kept writing me going, but like, weren't you fifteen? Yes,
but I had a curfew, Like I mean, they didn't
say go to bed, sleep, but like the TV was
off at that time, and especially like and it I
just I had to turn it off like there was
a I think that probably ended later that year when
(33:08):
I turned sixteen, but I was there. You know, my
parents are wonderful, but there was some strict you know,
it was some strict guidelines in my house. So like, yes,
I was fifteen, but that didn't mean the rules didn't
apply because they stayed with those were my rules, probably
stayed until at least sixteen. They were done thirty. You
probably thought it was okay to go to bed at
(33:29):
that point. Yeah. I mean I probably didn't put up
a five. We were down by find I can't watch
this anymore. So I was like.
Speaker 2 (33:34):
Okay, and that that was a week night at the
school night, and it was.
Speaker 4 (33:38):
A nine o'clock game. Yeah, it was a nine o'clock
game on a school night on ESPN two. If you remember,
was it? Yeah, which for Jill Middlesbrough was there. Remember
do you remember how ESPN two came about? Tell me
ESPN two came on and there was a few weeks
where Middlesbrough was the only station that had it. I
don't know how, but people were not the cable companies
(33:58):
were not paying for ESPN. In two and one year ESPN,
they were desperate to make the cable companies do it.
They put Duke Carolina and Kentucky Arkansas on ESPN two,
and that was basically forced the cable companies to take
it because they were like, unless you want to tell
your viewers they can't see UK Arkansas, you gotta do it.
And then all the cable providers took it.
Speaker 2 (34:20):
Based on those two basketball games that really think about
those years. Yeah, those were the games those years. They
put them both on ESPN two.
Speaker 4 (34:28):
One year.
Speaker 6 (34:28):
I remember that and I remember thinking it was like, oh,
this is like they're being bad boys, Like look at
these graphics, but they're not even they're not using uppercase letters.
It's like a grunge fun those were awesome.
Speaker 4 (34:38):
When the two people that hosted the nightly show on
ESPN two, the very first one, they were on every night,
anybody know who are they? Keith Oberman and Susie Colber,
really and Keith Oberman slicked his hair back and he
had a leather jacket on and Susie Colber was smoke
(34:58):
it at that time, and the two of them they
were like bad boy, attractive woman. Here we go. It's
sports with an edge, smart smart PROSPN Tonight but the
two was a two. Stuff like that blew my mind, Like, oh,
they didn't even write the word tonight. This channel's crazy.
They're using lowercase on the scoreboard. How do they get
(35:19):
away with this the number two instead of too. Volunteers

come back. Final segment. Here came bar. It's Kentucky Sports Radio,
(36:13):
quarterback tuck you Sports Radio. Here it's KS Bar and grille.
A couple of things here. First, we're open for lunch today.
Blake Shelton pregame, UK Tennessee Women's Pregame. Have a little
party here and then the game tonight. You can come
watch it UK women in Tennessee. I believe it's on
is on SEC Network network, SEC Network seven o'clock, seven o'clock,
(36:35):
number fifteen, number level Big Time game tonight. Second, we're
opening at ten am on Saturday for the UK Auburn
game because the games at one. Our pregame will be
at ten thirty. We're opening at ten but we're serving
regular food so you could just get like, you know,
wings and all that at ten am. Why not beer?
Speaker 2 (36:55):
Yeah, you still get your mimosa and just have it
with your wings.
Speaker 4 (36:57):
Yeah, so that'll be that. Saturday today is also National
Chili Day? Did you know that?
Speaker 2 (37:04):
Until We've got really good chili here.
Speaker 4 (37:05):
So we have good chili here you can eat. Also
tonight I'm gonna celebrate with my good friends at Skyline, uh,
just to tell them high and honor them for their
service uh to America. So that's kind of cool. Why white, white, which,
what's your paws?
Speaker 2 (37:21):
Your love and affinity for Skyline chili just blows my mind?
Speaker 4 (37:25):
Why does it blow your mind? Is not good?
Speaker 5 (37:27):
Oh you bought your tongue?
Speaker 4 (37:31):
Why don't you like Skyline? It's awesome? I do not
like it. I like, I love the chili here. I
get it once a week. But Skyline has a whole
thing like it's it's like got tradition, it's got, it's
it's cinnamony, but it's also spicy and it's fun and
you just you got hot sauce. They got their hot
sauce is so uniquely them and it's good.
Speaker 2 (37:54):
Maybe my palate it just enjoys the high level chili,
not this low level Skyline.
Speaker 4 (38:03):
It's different, but it's good. It's definitely different. You're different.
Who's Nextene, Eugene? How are you to Eugene.
Speaker 8 (38:12):
Fell let's tell y'all knowing today.
Speaker 4 (38:13):
Good to talk to you, Good to talk to you, Eugene.
Speaker 8 (38:18):
I agree with Ryan, that's Skyline ain't familiar, that's preaching.
Speaker 7 (38:23):
But yeah, that's right.
Speaker 8 (38:25):
Ryan knows what he's talking about. I was calling to say,
you're thinking a long run, that these boys being hurt
like they was for some many games and then coming
back where other players has gotten some playing time is
going to turn out to be a benefit for us
rather than really hurting us. And if somebody's already asked yet,
I'm sorry.
Speaker 4 (38:44):
Good to hear from you, Eugene, I hope you're doing good.
Appreciate the call could be yes. I mean, for instance,
last night, when la Mott Butler fouls out, Travis Perry
was able to hold down the fort, they basically switched
offense to defense. Travis would play offense, Colin Chandler would
play defense. You know, So if Butler had not had
those games out, I'm not sure Travis Perry would have
(39:05):
been ready for that moment. Not sure Colin Chandler would
have been ready for that moment, honestly. So to that
expect that respect, yeah, he could help.
Speaker 6 (39:12):
Yeah, I think it's definitely helped, especially with Perry. He's
made a big jump. I mean, having to play thirty
minutes at Texas and at Alabama as too as your
first career starts. True, I know those were losses, and
you know he wasn't the best in those games, but
I think that did a lot for experience, and there
might be a moment in the SEC tournament, in a
tournament where he does something we can look back on.
That extra time he got middle of the regular season
(39:33):
is why he's playing that way.
Speaker 4 (39:34):
I did notice there were twenty seconds left and we
were down one and they imbounded the ball to Travis Perry,
and that kid could have been terrified, right, I mean
he could have on the road down one with the ball.
He could have been terrified. And I know he didn't
do anything, especially he just dribbled the ball up in
the air and drove up the court and handed its
own way. But I've watched him dribble up the court
(39:55):
and I thought that kid has confidence in this moment.
I did not want him to then take the and
go to the basket, but I did feel like he
had confidence, and I think that probably comes from playing
these last few games.
Speaker 2 (40:06):
Yeah, the blessing in disguise from those injuries are the
fact that these guys got a lot of minutes early
so when we needed him, like last night, even Brandon
Garrison getting any minutes that we don't really want him
too early when he wasn't playing that well benefited him
last night.
Speaker 4 (40:18):
Though.
Speaker 6 (40:19):
He's quicker to shoot two, which they need him to do.
That passed from Trentonoa to Perry in the corner last
night and Perry knocked down the three. I know that
was a fun moment for all the contemuy.
Speaker 4 (40:27):
I also don't know like on the back door cut
where Garrison hit him and he went up for shot.
I'm not sure if he would have taken that shot
three weeks ago. He might have just run it right
back out. Instead, he took it, got the foul, made
the free throws, and you know, got the points. Who's next, Corey, Corey,
Go ahead, Corey.
Speaker 9 (40:45):
Playboys of the Southwestern World best Blake Shelton saw him.
Chili Gilewski My last favorite thing on the menu at
ks bar appreach it. I want to talk directly to
Billy real quick. Billy r McGregor should take this moment
to apologize to absolutely no one. He is the only
one that is protecting the airwaves from fraud, waste, and abuse. Yeah,
(41:06):
we need more kids saying cru was fun. My favorite
player is ex That was awesome. Billy, don't listen to
the haters. Keep a sufficient to the will of the people.
Speaker 4 (41:17):
You guys have a good one. Nice Broadways. That abused
is a funny line there. Now you know there does
have to be some bad guys sometimes, you know, and
and and now I will give Billy credit for this,
and Shannon's good at this too. They protect me from
having to be the bad guy. Billy especially has some
(41:38):
roles where he protects me from being the bad guy.
Something comes up and I don't want to do it,
but I don't want to hurt people's feelings and Billy.
So that's why I don't get didn't get mad at Billy.
I just don't think Heather was the person to draw
the line on last night, and he acknowledged that. Yeah.
Speaker 6 (41:55):
I think it's just the uh in the moments, since
he could have maybe been a little more.
Speaker 4 (42:00):
And I think what he thinks.
Speaker 3 (42:02):
I think he got embarrassed when she jumped on and
kind of threw him under the bus and said that
he wouldn't allow her.
Speaker 5 (42:07):
To call anymore. I think that's what happened there.
Speaker 4 (42:09):
I think so. But I but I do want to
take up for him. He does protect Part of his
job is to protect me from being the bad guy
because it's bad for the show if I'm the bad
guy and he does that, and so I give him
I have a lot of That's that's why I take
up for him. But he also can mess up sometimes too,
cornbredthimp dot com. If like last night, I'm on a

on what you know. It's next to Scottie Bailer's farm.
It's next to the soccer field Strocker Field. Yeah, it's
next to the old hotel. Is you know out there
it is. We'll see you tomorrow. This is Big Kentucky
