Welcome to Hour two of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by
Stockton Mortgage. Now here's Matt Jones.

Speaker 4 (01:05):
Welcome back Tucky Sports Radio.

Speaker 5 (01:07):
This figured out which one to subscribe to is gonna
be driving people crazy like I, you know, Okay, so
it's not the one with me with the visor.

Speaker 4 (01:15):
That's the old one. I haven't done anything on there
in like three years.

Speaker 5 (01:19):
Yeah, it's the picture of me, if you know what
I look like. It's that one, and it's not the
picture of the other people that are that. They may
have the same name, but they're not They're they're not me. Okay,
this is going swimmingly. It's gonna it's gonna be great.

Speaker 4 (01:32):
It was. That's why, Well, you know, I can't wait
to listen to the other podcast.

Speaker 5 (01:38):
You don't listen to the other podcast. You don't need
any life advice. People who give you life advice are
all full of it. That's my other thing I don't
want to hear, Like self help. Well, that's that's a
whole other brand that I don't need to go on.
A five nine, two eight oh twenty two eighty seven.
We apparently did play Duke and Rup. Really in nineteen
seventy nine in the n I T we played Duke

(02:01):
and Rup, which I I did not know that.

Speaker 6 (02:03):
Did not know that either I had no idea if
we ever played it in Cameron.

Speaker 4 (02:10):
Not that I know of, but I'm not sure.

Speaker 7 (02:15):
I didn't know he had played him in Rood.

Speaker 4 (02:17):
Did not know.

Speaker 5 (02:18):
Real quick, Matt Jones show that show. If you use
podcast then you get the old the old one that
Jones show probably should have. But with me, this looks
look for look for uh, look for my picture? All right,
real quick. I don't know if you saw this report yesterday,
but Ross Dellinger, who has been the best If you
do not follow him on Twitter or x or whatever

(02:42):
you should, he has been the best at sort of
breaking down the ni L, the the lawsuit that's the
new rule. Like if you want to be like, how
do I understand what's gonna happen in the future at college.

Speaker 4 (02:54):
Sports, he's probably the best one.

Speaker 5 (02:56):
He said that the power for conferences are going to
force the members of their conferences to sign an agreement
that they.

Speaker 6 (03:05):
Will follow all rules.

Speaker 5 (03:07):
That are made about by the NCAA or they will
be kicked out of the conference. Now you may say,
to yourself, why are they doing that?

Speaker 4 (03:17):
That looks good will? What is that?

Speaker 8 (03:23):
Love?

Speaker 5 (03:24):
A good sandwich, bacon jam. Okay, we'll take the test
those during the break here. That's all right, now, you
got me distracted. But they will follow all rules or
they can be kicked out of the conference. They may
remember last week I talked about this. Tennessee state legislature
passed a law that said the schools in Tennessee do

(03:44):
not have to follow any NCAA rules, which I have
no idea why. I know their legislature is crazy, but
that I didn't understand that, And you may remember me
saying that's a good way to have it all turned
into chaos. Well, the NCAA, I guess, has seen it
and the power for Conferences are going to make all
of their members sign a document that says, if you

(04:06):
do not abide by this, we can kick you out
of the comp Wow. So Tennessee and Vandy are on
the cloth.

Speaker 4 (04:13):
Yep.

Speaker 5 (04:13):
Now they're gonna make all their members sign it. It
is expected all they're gonna sign it. But the schools
in Tennessee are not sure. And so this is how
I read it. I read that as Tennessee the university
got their legislature to pass this, right, because why else
would they have passed it unless the school.

Speaker 4 (04:35):
Told them to do it. Wouldn't you think? Of course
you think, and.

Speaker 5 (04:39):
The and the SEC probably upset, has now flipped it
and said, okay, that's your move.

Speaker 4 (04:44):
Here's our counter move.

Speaker 5 (04:46):
Do you think there's a world where the SEC acc
because remember I said if the SEC kicks them out,
they'll just go to the a CC. But now it
looks like they thought about that, and now the ACC
is going to make their people sign it too.

Speaker 4 (04:59):
Is there a war world.

Speaker 5 (05:01):
Where Tennessee would take an action that would keep all
of the Power.

Speaker 7 (05:05):
For conferences from having it any Staples has an update
that sounds like Tennessee's gonna double down. He's gonna talk
about it on a show today, So I don't know
the exact details, but it looks like we're about to
get the NCAA versus State of Tennessee in this and
then a standoff. And it includes all Power five conferences
and some other conferences too, so they wouldn't have anywhere
to go. So they're really getting a standoff, you know what.

Speaker 4 (05:27):
I hope the NCAA takes Tennessee and tells them to
go shove it.

Speaker 5 (05:32):
I mean it like I am. Generally, if you if
you listen to this show, you know a couple of things.
I'm pro the players getting paid. I'm pro treating this
as a business. I'm pro the money for people. I'm
i'm you know, the money's there, I'm pro it getting split.
But I also am a believer in rules. You can't

(05:54):
have anarchy in this world. If you have anarchy. One
thing that's clear about human nature is if you you
have no rules, we will devolve to the lowest form
of humanity. I mean, just look at the looting thing,
which we'll talk about later. So Tennessee wants to have
a system of no rules, none, Well you can't. You

(06:16):
can't do that because if you do that, it'll just
become absolute chaos. Even in capitalism, you know, you always
hear me say we're just capitalism. But even in capitalism,
we have rules, right, we have minimum wage and we
have like workplace standards. I mean, we have rules. Tennessee
is suing asking there to be no rules, just for
us to become cave men, which that may be how

(06:39):
they want to live in Tennessee with all their you know, nastiness,
but like that's not the way to live in humanity.
And I hope the conferences Ryan tell Tennessee and kick
them out. You know, it's kind of like.

Speaker 4 (06:51):
The live tour. That's all great in theory, but now
go on your own and see how you do. Tennessee.
You know a father, Okay, good luck, see how you do.
I'm for telling them.

Speaker 6 (07:01):
That Tennessee needs the SEC more than the SEC needs Tennessee.

Speaker 4 (07:05):
You're exactly right, you know.

Speaker 6 (07:06):
So if they want to go play in Conference USA
and try to bully everybody, bye, go see how things
are in the Conference ES.

Speaker 4 (07:12):
Look, good luck.

Speaker 5 (07:13):
Let's see how exciting it is when you play you know,
Sam Houston State every game.

Speaker 4 (07:18):
Good luck, Tennessee, good luck.

Speaker 5 (07:19):
Let's see if you make the playoffs when you're playing
Sam Houston State every game you go fill that one
hundred thousand seat stadium, playing up against Texas Grande Rio Valley,
good luck.

Speaker 7 (07:30):
If this or any other state, I'd be like, come on,
just participate, let's move on with this. But since it's Tennessee,
I hope they fight it and it just gets nasty.
So it's the sport versus the balls, and I guess
it includes Memphis and all the Tennessee schools, which I
mean Valls are the ones we're focused on.

Speaker 4 (07:43):
But I hope yeah, left Tennessee, Memphis Vandy and you know, Swanee,
you have a conference. Let's see how many people watch it.

Speaker 5 (07:50):
You know a lot of people want to see that
great Swannye LMU matchup.

Speaker 4 (07:55):
Go for it. Let's see how it goes.

Speaker 6 (07:57):
So what Advandy would have placed, like Middle Tennis? He
had maybe in this new rule.

Speaker 4 (08:03):
There's no advantage.

Speaker 5 (08:05):
Do you think anyone would care about a league full
of only Tennessee schools unless you are in Tennessee.

Speaker 4 (08:11):
No, of course not, no one would care.

Speaker 5 (08:14):
So this is the University of Tennessee saying we want
to do our own thing and we want there to
be no rules governing us. But you know, let me
just I'll use the analogy that I've used talking about
and you know you can yell at me if you want,
But this is the analogy I use about some of

(08:35):
the stuff.

Speaker 4 (08:36):
When I talk about Trump.

Speaker 5 (08:37):
People all look at things just about Trump. You're not
thinking about who the next president's gonna be. If you
established there can be no rules, then what's the next.

Speaker 4 (08:44):
Guy gonna do? And then what's the next guy gonna do?

Speaker 5 (08:47):
Similarly, if Tennessee wants there to be no rules. Then
what are these other schools gonna do? And next thing
you know, you are in chaos and you cannot have
sports without some rules. Now, we can argue what the
rules should be, and we can argue whether or not
they should be.

Speaker 4 (09:02):
More pro player, more pro.

Speaker 5 (09:05):
School, more pro whatever, but you can't have no rules.
And that's what what Tennessee's asking for is no rules
like that.

Speaker 6 (09:12):
They're sitting there thinking we're so big and bad, Well
the ACC will take us. Well, now they're a ACC
can't take you.

Speaker 5 (09:18):
That's why it's very smart for the SEC to get
all the patrics, and they should because you don't want
the state of South Carolina now passing this rule and
then the ACC's got to do the same thing with Clipson.

Speaker 4 (09:28):
Right.

Speaker 7 (09:29):
Yeah, so far it seems to only be Tennessee even
considering this, And I just hope it goes to distance
and we have like a mess around find out situation
and they really get left out of something that seems
like an extreme ending.

Speaker 5 (09:40):
It's but I hope we get but I hope it happens.
You know, now, if Tennessee sued the NCAA, what would happen.

Speaker 4 (09:47):
I don't know.

Speaker 5 (09:48):
I'd have to think about it, because it's very it
would be very complicated. But you know, they got lawyers
at the NCAA. They've probably looked into it. Bring it on,
Bring it on something. I would be fascinated to know
why the legislature passed that law. The University of Tennessee
clearly wanted it or they don't pass it, And it
would be interesting Ryan to see what those discussions were.

Speaker 6 (10:10):
Yeah, Tennessee football is a big driving force for probably
like what Kentucky basketball is in Kentucky. You know, if
they carries a lot of power Tennessee football does. I'm
sure if they wanted it to try to do that,
the legislature is gonna probably pass it for them.

Speaker 4 (10:22):
Yeah, who's up next, Shit, let's go to Jacob. Jacob,
go ahead, Jacob, Hi.

Speaker 8 (10:27):
Good morning.

Speaker 9 (10:28):
I hope you all are having a great day, the
great morning so far. I said a quick question, I
was curious if you ever thought about actually kind of
writing a book about the history of KSR, kind of
how everything's developed and kind of the stories and things,
you know, kind of all the.

Speaker 4 (10:45):
I guess you're talking like a memoir.

Speaker 5 (10:49):
My view is, if you're gonna write a memoir, it's
time for you to be dead soon after, Like there's
no reason to write a memoir like halfway through. Like
I've seen some people who have like three biography so
I'm not I think I would enjoy writing a memoir.
But I'm gonna let everything. I'm gonna try to finish
everything first. The Mitch the Mitch Pleae book was like
almost like a personal journal thing. I think, before I

(11:13):
do the whole this was what my career was, I
probably want to finish it so you don't have to
do like like Kim Kardashian already has one biography and
I hear she's writing two. What is she I can't
even imagine reading one of them?

Speaker 4 (11:24):
And now she has two, So I think let's I
probably wait a but go ahead.

Speaker 9 (11:31):
I was thinking like something along the lines of like
what the James Andrew Miller did, like with est Nursia,
kind of like oral history. I think, I don't know.
I just think could be a lot of bit interesting
stories and especially for like for me first Thames, that's
a new listener to the show. I think a lot
of people will be interested in giving the history of
every thing kind.

Speaker 4 (11:48):
Of well, I appreciate it.

Speaker 9 (11:49):
Thank you.

Speaker 4 (11:52):
Yeah. Maybe maybe one day we'll we'll do something. Maybe
do that in like a podcast form, Ryan, do you
uh the Mats Planning podcast? See it sounds worse coming
from you. I don't know why. Who's next.

Speaker 3 (12:05):
Let's go to Mike.

Speaker 4 (12:07):
Mike if I'm nine two twenty two eighty seven, go ahead.

Speaker 8 (12:11):
Yeah. I had two comments. One going back through and
you were talking about the big recruits and the height
and that we didn't get. The first recruiting thing that
I can remember is Ralph Sampson not coming to Kentucky.

Speaker 4 (12:25):
Yeah, but he was.

Speaker 5 (12:26):
He was a number one player in America. Yeah, So
I mean, and he ended up being pretty good.

Speaker 8 (12:32):
Yeah. And then the other thing I wanted to say
is your show is the best when you don't stick
to sports. That's when you're the most interesting. So keep that.

Speaker 5 (12:41):
Uh yeah, well, thank you about thank you. Although the
counter to that would be, you know the least when
you do talk about sports, which I grant you is
probably true.

Speaker 6 (12:50):
This first segment was typical of this show. We spent
the whole first segment talking about a potential big basketball recruit,
and our first caller was about guy going his honeymoon
in destin. You know that that's this's just showing a
nutshell right there where.

Speaker 4 (13:02):
I think you've told me this, but I don't remember.
Where were your two honeymoons Orlando?

Speaker 6 (13:07):
First one?

Speaker 4 (13:08):
Second one was in you went on to Orlando and
your honeymoon.

Speaker 6 (13:11):
Yep.

Speaker 7 (13:12):
After we just did that Orlando bit, you didn't want
to chime in with it.

Speaker 4 (13:14):
I loved it. I loved Did you have kids at
the time? No kids? So you went to Orlando as
adults without children.

Speaker 6 (13:21):
And loved every second of it. It was fantastic.

Speaker 4 (13:23):
Where did you go?

Speaker 6 (13:24):
Stayed at the Dolphin Resort?

Speaker 4 (13:26):
Answer?

Speaker 6 (13:26):
Did in an Epcot area?

Speaker 4 (13:28):
Did you go to disney World?

Speaker 6 (13:30):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (13:30):
Every day? Yeah, it was awesome. How do we not
know this? I mean you went on your honeymoon to
disney World the first one. Yeah, that's awful. It was fantastic.
That's weird. Yeah yeah, I mean, like, you know.

Speaker 5 (13:43):
Adults at at disney World without children, isn't that strange?

Speaker 4 (13:48):
No, it's a very romantic. What is romantic about it?

Speaker 6 (13:52):
You know you get to see the fireworks show at night?
You know from your hotel.

Speaker 3 (13:57):
Hates fireworks too, I don't.

Speaker 4 (13:58):
I hate fireworks. It's great. It was glorious. This was
in nineteen ninety one. Wow.

Speaker 5 (14:05):
So you would get up and you would go like
ride the teacups huh.

Speaker 4 (14:09):
Yeah, and that was your wedding. Yeah, and then maybe
the next me. Is that what she wanted? Or is
that what you wanted? Oh? Both? I think it was
fair to you. Yeah. I enjoyed every second of it.

Speaker 3 (14:22):
Wow, Okay, I can't believe that didn't work out?

Speaker 7 (14:32):
What was the second one?

Speaker 4 (14:33):
Thick Udea, I'm sorry. You're the only person that.

Speaker 3 (14:41):
Could ryan those.

Speaker 4 (14:42):
I love me.

Speaker 3 (14:43):
You can't get mad at me.

Speaker 4 (14:44):
No, I can't. I can't. That's the worst.

Speaker 6 (14:48):
I've been to Disney World probably a dozen times.

Speaker 5 (14:50):
I'm not surprised by that. School's almost out. The deals
are just getting started at Don Franklin. Over six thousand
new and certified pre owned vehicles with over six thousand,
twenty seven dealerships across the Bluegrass.

Speaker 4 (15:02):
It's Don Franklin. Get a safe, reliable car and a
huge selection of twenty twenty five models.

Speaker 5 (15:07):
Don Franklin Auto Driven by Family is your third? Is
that where you're gonna lope to this time? Or do
you think you need to pick a different place?

Speaker 6 (15:15):
Well, I think we probably don't need to talk about
the third time. That didn't go over too well with.

Speaker 7 (15:22):
She wondered about that. Yeah, she didn't enjoy that conversation, like.

Speaker 4 (15:26):
You, you can keep her name out of our filthy mouth. Okay,
well there you go. Well we'll take a break and
be right back, mister Orlando. Here, this is ks R
running back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio. Got some Disney
adults on the text machine. Upset.

Speaker 5 (15:44):
One person writes, Matt, you go to baseball games and
read a book. How dare you say something about Disney World.
Much more reasonable to go to a baseball game and
read a book than be an adult and go to
Disney World without your children.

Speaker 4 (15:56):
It's just some reasonable. It's magical.

Speaker 5 (15:59):
I'm sure it is magical for children. You're an adult
and it's your honeymoon. It's supposed to be romantic.

Speaker 4 (16:04):
It was. It was very romantic.

Speaker 7 (16:05):
The song playing right now is this romantic? This set
the mood, you.

Speaker 3 (16:08):
Know, just plays on a loop when you go there and.

Speaker 6 (16:11):
You have to ride the ride because there's one clown
that's crying. They're all have happy face, but there's one
clown in that ride that's that's crying.

Speaker 4 (16:17):
That's the people on their honeymoon.

Speaker 5 (16:19):
Uh. So we just tried our new uh prime rib
sandwich which was excellent, and you guys had the what
is it bacon jam?

Speaker 7 (16:29):
You had it way back in the day. It was
one of my favorite things and it took a step
away from the menu for a one.

Speaker 5 (16:33):
It's so yeah. So, uh we're here at k spar
and Grill. You we've got new menu items. Come trying
the catfish. Now we have the prime rib sandwich.

Speaker 4 (16:42):
Was I really liked that? How was the bacon jam burger? Outstanding? Dude,
It's very very good.

Speaker 5 (16:47):
So thank you to Monique for for for coming up
with those and they are debuting now Railbird is coming.

Speaker 4 (16:54):
You need to get you tickets for the parking.

Speaker 5 (16:56):
Listen, if you're going to the rail Bird, there's going
to be nowhere in the city to park. I'm just
warning you folks. They're not allowing you to park at
Kroger Field. Now, there's gonna be nowhere for you to park.
This is right across the street, So you need to
get your thing. We will be sold out, but I
want to sell it to KSR people before the general
masses with their hippiness come over here, and so go

(17:17):
ahead and and and get in there and get it.

Speaker 4 (17:20):
So who else playing?

Speaker 5 (17:21):
You got Jelly roll I think you got ray Landy Wilson,
Red Clay Strays who I like.

Speaker 4 (17:27):
I'm gonna go see them uh.

Speaker 7 (17:30):
As a big realbird fan. The best part of parking
here is because you could, at least in the years past,
I think you still can as you can leave and
go back in. And it was so hot out. I
just came eight lunch and had a beer here.

Speaker 4 (17:40):
Exactly right.

Speaker 5 (17:40):
If you park here and you come to the restaurants
we can you can come get some cool here, like
when somebody that you don't like is playing, Like, I
don't know who stinks on.

Speaker 4 (17:50):
The on the card.

Speaker 3 (17:53):
My Mojo Thunder is at the very bottom.

Speaker 5 (17:55):
Yeah, I don't really like I'm not a huge fan
of Jelly Rolls music, but he was so nice to me.
I can't say he stinks because he was like a
really really nice guy, So I don't want to say him.

Speaker 3 (18:04):
But who else is There's a band Luke Bran on
there or Rattlesnake Milk See.

Speaker 4 (18:10):
I feel like I would like them, though that sounds
like a name of someone I would.

Speaker 3 (18:13):
Like Mama zed String Band.

Speaker 4 (18:15):
Oh well, I know I would like them. I don't know.

Speaker 3 (18:18):
They're at the bottom of the list.

Speaker 5 (18:20):
We got some folks here from from Hopkinsville, and then
this couple right here lives in.

Speaker 4 (18:24):
Vienna, Austria.

Speaker 5 (18:26):
Vienna, Austria, which is such like if you were saying,
where's a place you could live and you just wanted
to live where, it was like where it's European, but
it's not like you're living in a place you can't understand,
and you know, just Vienna. It's clean. It's a very
very clean place. Vienna might be. I don't love Austria

(18:47):
the most as the country in Europe, although I do
like it, But Vienna would probably be maybe the best
city if you just were looking for a place.

Speaker 4 (18:56):
I'm like, I got to get out of America and
I want to live somewhere. I think Vienna would be
right there.

Speaker 6 (19:00):
I agree. It's been a week there cause my brother
was stationed there for two years, so my parents and
I we all went over for a week.

Speaker 4 (19:05):
It took two of my boys.

Speaker 6 (19:06):
It was awesome. It was so much fun. It's beautiful.
I mean, you guys walk everywhere, but it was beautiful.

Speaker 4 (19:11):
Yes, you do walk everywhere everywhere.

Speaker 7 (19:13):
It's a good thing.

Speaker 4 (19:13):
Well you don't have to, you can take public transportation.

Speaker 6 (19:16):
It's it was everybody wanted to walk.

Speaker 5 (19:18):
Well that's what they probably walking, probably went I love
to walk. A walk in city is Yeah, that's the one.
The only thing I dislike about Lexton is it's very
hard to walk here. It's very like outside of downtown,
it's hard to walk.

Speaker 4 (19:31):
Louisville's a little better, but not significantly. You know, we
just we don't really have great walking. I'm out Winchester Road.
You're definitely not walking around there. I wish I could
walk downtown.

Speaker 6 (19:40):
He's some veeners Nitzel when you were there, Yeah.

Speaker 7 (19:42):
Put another shrimp on the Bobbery's dumb a dumber joke
in Vienna, it's Sloyd Christmas joke, dumb, dumber.

Speaker 8 (19:48):
Okay.

Speaker 5 (19:50):
Around the Horn is ending Friday after twenty three years.
It's been on TV for twenty three years. It'll have
its last show on Friday this week, bringing back the
people that have done shows for them for kind of
one final uh go around, and then it will end Friday.

Speaker 4 (20:06):
Did you ever enjoy that show?

Speaker 6 (20:08):
I mean I watched it. I didn't really enjoy it
that much. I mean I remember so I saw like
Witty Page he was on there. He's been on there for.

Speaker 4 (20:15):
Like fifteen years. Yeah, he's still on there. Yeh see.

Speaker 6 (20:17):
Yeah, I don't I don't watch it, but I know
the show it is. Didn't didn't do anything for me.

Speaker 4 (20:22):
Okay, Well that's a nice goodbye for them. What about you?

Speaker 7 (20:25):
My tribute's not gonna be a lot better. But I
did for years, didn't miss a day, and there was
like must see TV in the afternoon with PTI here.
In the last several years, I haven't really kept up
with much ESPN daytime TV, but I was a big
fan when it first started. Jay Marriotti. Who else was there?

Speaker 5 (20:41):
N started with the dude Tim Kallishaw Page, Jay Marriotti,
you're right, Ja, Don Day was on there a lot
to start with Jackie McMullen.

Speaker 7 (20:53):
Ye would do it a lot. Yes, we got to
Pablo Torre and yeah he did, Kate Fagan.

Speaker 5 (20:59):
A lot of people they put on. Now I've never
seen before one of the guys that's on there. I'm
actually working with tonight on ESPN Radio. That David Dennis
junior guy. But but yeah, it's they. They've they've been
doing it for for a long time.

Speaker 4 (21:11):
And uh, if nothing.

Speaker 7 (21:12):
Else, you'd turn in just for Woody Page's chalkboard behind him.

Speaker 4 (21:15):
It's right, somebody just gave you a Disney hat.

Speaker 6 (21:18):
Disney Tokyo.

Speaker 5 (21:19):
Oh, Disney Tokyo. Just pull that out of talked about
ten minutes ago. I know he fairly had it in
his car ready to go. Who's up next?

Speaker 3 (21:27):
Ship Mary?

Speaker 4 (21:29):
Mary?

Speaker 5 (21:29):
But good luck to the twenty three years long time
be on TV. At any show, do you remember that
the original host was not Tony Reality?

Speaker 4 (21:36):
Who was the original host? May know? Original host around
the horn going once?

Speaker 6 (21:42):
Somebody we know going twice?

Speaker 5 (21:44):
That Max Kellerman, Max Kelly, Max Kellerman, hang on a
second man.

Speaker 4 (21:48):
Max Kellerman hosted the show for the first two years.

Speaker 5 (21:50):
People don't remember that. Then he got put on first
take and they moved.

Speaker 4 (21:54):
He used to watch it all right, go.

Speaker 10 (21:56):
Ahead, Okay, so you are are or we're talking about
the NCUBA having structure and rules. Yes, Uh, Matt, this
is gonna be for you. I guess what makes you
think that the house settlement is going to solve the
problems that currently are associated with the nc double A
or that they're gonna put the right rules and guidelines.

Speaker 4 (22:18):
I didn't say they were gonna former.

Speaker 10 (22:20):
Wait a minute, Wait a minute. As a former Division
one girls basketball head coach, the NCUBA does not make
rules and regulations that apply to everybody. I'm gonna get
off and I'm gonna listen.

Speaker 4 (22:32):
Right, what do you mean?

Speaker 5 (22:33):
I don't know what you mean by that comment. I
don't know what do you mean they don't make rules
that apply to everybody?

Speaker 4 (22:38):
What does that mean?

Speaker 10 (22:39):
They don't they don't follow through. It depends on what
school you're associated with. It depends on what you're making.

Speaker 5 (22:45):
Well, they know you're talking about two different things. You're
talking about, ma'am. You're talking about hang on. You're saying
they don't fairly apply the rules, which you may be
correct on. I'm not gonna I'm not gonna claim to
know the answer. That's a different question though, than whether
or not they may rules, because they do make rules,
whether they fairly apply him is different. So if you're
asking me, what makes me confident that they will make rules?

Speaker 4 (23:08):
They've always made us.

Speaker 5 (23:09):
Now will they fairly apply them? I have no idea. Okay,
but the but here's what I know.

Speaker 4 (23:16):
Won't work.

Speaker 5 (23:18):
No rules, no rules at all, is guaranteed to fail. Now,
you're right, rules won't work unless they're fairly applied. But
the idea of anarchy, which is what Tennessee wants, is
guaranteed to fail, at least in my view.

Speaker 10 (23:32):
What rules do we currently have in place?

Speaker 5 (23:34):
Though, Well, that's a long answer and we got to
go to break. But I appreciate the call.

Speaker 6 (23:41):
I wonder who that was.

Speaker 4 (23:42):
TJ.

Speaker 3 (23:43):
Smith, personal injury attorney called TJ.

Speaker 4 (23:45):
He'll make them pay.

Speaker 3 (23:46):
Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Here's Matt Jones.

Speaker 4 (23:51):
Welcome back, tell you Sports Radio here live. It's the
KS Bar Grill lunchtime. Come on out and say hello.
It is uh, it's supposed to get cold this weekend,
isn't it's supposed to get cold?

Speaker 6 (24:03):
I think all this week like chance of rain almost
all day to day and timperature in the low.

Speaker 5 (24:08):
Sixty I didn't ask for that level of detail. I
just said, was it's supposed to get cold this weekend. Right,
I'm pulling it up now, it's a confirm.

Speaker 6 (24:15):
I think it's all this week It's gonna be like
in the low sixties.

Speaker 7 (24:18):
All right, Well, it dips down to the fifties on Saturday.

Speaker 4 (24:21):
Fifties on Saturday. Well, that's no good. It's Memorial Day.

Speaker 5 (24:24):
It's crazy that this is Memorial Day. Kay, it doesn't
feel like Memorial No, it does it.

Speaker 4 (24:28):
It doesn't if.

Speaker 7 (24:29):
You're going a golf scramble next week too.

Speaker 4 (24:31):
Yeah, next Friday is Remember we're at the Mountain Laurel
Festival this Friday in Pineville. For those of you at
that part of the state, first time we will have
ever gone to the Mountain Laurel Festival.

Speaker 6 (24:41):
I've heard of the Mountain Larel Festival for forty years,
never been. It's my first time to go.

Speaker 5 (24:45):
Riley Green, Shannon, is that is that real bird and
somebody's rights, Matt. If you want to skip one at
Railbird to go to Chaos Bar and eat Riley Green, you.

Speaker 4 (24:57):
Would hate Oh really, yes, I don't. I would.

Speaker 5 (25:02):
It's not that I would hate him, I know I
already do. I've seen not as a human being. I'm
sure he's a wonderful fellow, but just I've seen his
stuff and he's got Like country music singers in general
should not be good looking, or at least not in
the traditional sense. They shouldn't have they shouldn't have slick
back hair, they shouldn't have killer smiles.

Speaker 4 (25:23):
Blue eyes. He has all of that, and then.

Speaker 5 (25:26):
He's in some controversy because he's what is it he's
he's like had like six baby mamas or something that
are all singers.

Speaker 4 (25:32):
I don't know. I mean that might be not incorrect.

Speaker 6 (25:34):
I don't know.

Speaker 7 (25:35):
I know of him, and that crowd will be mostly women.
To your point, if there was a time to take
a break, Yeah, I've seen the lines for him in Nashville,
even when he was much smaller and just playing local bars.
I mean they go crazy for him.

Speaker 6 (25:49):
Yeah, he wanted to look like Luke Colmbs just kind
of just got off your truck I walk.

Speaker 5 (25:54):
I don't really like Luke Colmbs, but I do think
he's talented and he yes, he needs to.

Speaker 4 (26:00):
Look like that.

Speaker 5 (26:01):
Or you can look like George Strait, where you are
good looking but you're a cowboy. What you can't look
like is you could be doing an ad for a
hair salon and then.

Speaker 7 (26:12):
Also being a country music singer. I don't accept that
he's got the big mustache too. That makes him go crazy.
I like Luke Combs, you know, he's bald, he's fat.
Uh doesn't really do the bro country music too much.
Exactly not a day difference from Rodan Uh.

Speaker 4 (26:27):
The NBA finals are almost here. In every second counts.

Speaker 5 (26:29):
With Draft Kings Sportsbook, official sports betting partner of the NBA,

Start now. The crown is yours at Draft Kings. If
you have a game product one hit game where eighte
plus Kentucky only elder mission's ply bet must win to
receive award. Bonus bets fire one hundred and sixty eight
hours of traditions. Additional term Responsible Gaming Resources CDKNG, dot co,
slash audio, UH Nixon Pacers start this well tonight, I
think is the uh thund the and the Timberwolves. Are

(27:02):
you excited for these series in the NBA?

Speaker 6 (27:04):
Actually, I am. I've been kind of keeping up with
especially since the Pacers have been hot, But I think
it okay. See that they're the team to be, don't
They seem to be playing the best don't count out
my pacers, though.

Speaker 4 (27:12):
I'm counting them out.

Speaker 5 (27:14):
Three of the four teams have Kentucky guys, so I'm
rooting for them. You got Shae and Caseon Wallace with
Oklahoma City, right, you got Julius Randall with Minnesota, and
then you got Carl with the with the Knicks and
Rob Dillingham.

Speaker 7 (27:29):
Yeah, every team has one Jackson. He's not playing right now,
but he's hurt. He's hurt, but he would get a ring. Okay,
so think about that. We have a dude on every
every team, every one of the four teams.

Speaker 5 (27:38):
But in the case of Carl, Shae, Wallace, and Randall,
you got starters. I mean Wallace at the starter, but
he plays a lot. You got not just starters. I
mean Shay is Oklahoma City's best player, Carl's probably the
nixt second best player, and Randall might be the Timberwolf's
second best player.

Speaker 4 (27:55):
Like, we've got big time guys playing in it.

Speaker 7 (27:58):
And they've all been playing. Even Wallace off the bench
has made a huge impact. Julius Randall, I mean he
would be a team's best player of the way he's
playing right now if he didn't have Anthony Everards next
to him. I'm for the Knicks, but growing up I
was all Pacers. Like younger me would be so disappointed.
Right now, I have the Reggie shirt where he's doing
the choke. I hated John Stark because I hated Patrick Ewing.

(28:18):
But I've completely flipped and I'm behind New York Now.

Speaker 4 (28:21):
I'm behind the Knicks. Boo, the bing bong.

Speaker 5 (28:26):
The dude sitting on top of the billboard up there,
how'd he get there?

Speaker 4 (28:29):
I don't know, Shandon, how'd that guy get on top
of the billboard last Friday night?

Speaker 3 (28:33):
Yeah, yeah, I don't know how.

Speaker 4 (28:34):
It seemed like liquid courage because he was also wearing
flip flops. Huh.

Speaker 5 (28:38):
He was wearing flip flops and he got on top
of the billboard. I want to know how he did that.

Speaker 7 (28:41):
That was crazy. Hitting the Pacers fan with the trash
might have been a little over the top. Did you
see that?

Speaker 5 (28:46):
Yeah, that was a bit much. Everybody know what they're
talking about. This Pacer fan was walking down the street
and somebody pulled up a bag of trash and just
hit him in the head with I could add glass,
So Tyrese Haliburton, this was kind of cool. Found him
and is bringing him to Game four. Cool from New
York bringing him to Indiana so he can sit cool.
That's that's a cool, very cool.

Speaker 4 (29:08):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (29:08):
At the time players will do something like that, you
never hear of it. That's a great gesture he's doing.

Speaker 7 (29:11):
I've seen the Knicks getting marcked for having these parties
after just getting to the conference finals, but it has
been a long time since they've had success. I think
it's cool to see him all following out there on
Seventh Avenue like they've already got a championship period.

Speaker 4 (29:22):
Are you excited for this?

Speaker 5 (29:23):
Shay Gildas Alexander era in the NBA, I mean, he's
he's probably gonna win the MVP and uh, he's you know,
been awesome here.

Speaker 6 (29:31):
He's he's a Hall of Famer in the making. I
think he's just gonna be a superstar. I get better
and better. He's gotten better every year in the league
so far.

Speaker 5 (29:37):
Can I remind you of something, Sir, Cal initially started
Quade Green over him.

Speaker 6 (29:43):
Shae was a backup.

Speaker 5 (29:44):
I'm just gonna remind you Cal initially, all right, so
you can give Cal credit because he got Shay Gilgess Alexander,
He was not a McDonald's All American if you remember right,
and he wasn't really highly ranked when Cal wentning got him.
Then he rose after Kentucky signed him, but he initially
was You see, you gotta give Cal credit for seeing
that talent. You also do wonder how did Quade Green

(30:07):
start over him at the beginning. Yeah, that was bizarre.
I guess Quade coming back got the slight nod. But
a few weeks into the season, we knew who needed
to be starting, and then you get to that Louisville
game and that was Shay's big breakout moment. Speaking of starting,
one person writes, Matt, I want you to go on
record right now, all five of you, what is the
starting lineup, including whether or not Otega comes back or not.

(30:30):
Otega's coming back, So, I mean he had said that,
but but he's gonna come back. By the way, Jalen Lowe,
our future point guard will be on Ksar.

Speaker 4 (30:39):
Tomo really just a little, a little heads up. He's
gonna he's gonna be joining us tomorrow. The first time,
first time we've we've been able to talk to him.

Speaker 7 (30:47):
Does he know that I called Pitt trash in the
first hour.

Speaker 4 (30:50):
That's probably why he came. Uh So, starting lineup?

Speaker 5 (30:54):
Everybody agrees to point guard's Jaalen Low correct, right, that's uncontroversial.
Everybody agrees take away starts correct correct Yep, uncontroversial.

Speaker 4 (31:04):
All right, who's the sinner? I think Brandon Garrison. It's
his job to lose. We think there's no way Brandon
Garrison doesn't start.

Speaker 7 (31:11):
If we're talking about the beginning of the year. Brandon Garrison.

Speaker 4 (31:13):
Yep, so Brandon Garrison.

Speaker 5 (31:15):
So you feel like there's three spots locked up, Yes,
nothing can change those all right? Who is the depending
on what you consider O way, a two or a three,
who's the other one?

Speaker 6 (31:28):
See, I think they may go a little small and
go Aberdeen there and just play start those three guys.

Speaker 7 (31:33):
I'm going Aberdeen. He's got the ring, he can play defense.
I think he's got a little better shooting than he
was able to show up Florida because he was just
behind three great guards. So I got Low Aberdeen Oway.
Who's the other contender for that? Jasper johnsonsper Colin Chandler.
If he has a big.

Speaker 5 (31:47):
Bring, you think there's a chance they're gonna bring in
Jasper Johnson.

Speaker 4 (31:50):
Top ten recruiting. He's not gonna start.

Speaker 7 (31:52):
I think he's gonna be a little behind the start
the season. He can't really guard right now. I think
that'll take some time. I mean, he's gonna be able
to score, but I think by the the year he's
gonna be playing quality minutes. But I'll worry about his defense.

Speaker 4 (32:03):
Just you right out of the gate, you are zigging,
I'm zagging.

Speaker 5 (32:06):
I'm gonna say Jasper Johnson starts, Aberdeen's a six man.

Speaker 4 (32:10):
I think he's.

Speaker 5 (32:13):
I think there's no way Jasper Johnson came here to
come off the bench, and I think he's going to
be an explosive talent and they'll work through his mistakes. Now,
there could be a time later in the year that
it flips if all the things you're talking about are correct.
But I'm gonna pick Jasper starts at the beginning. Then
at the four could be Diabatee, could be the Cam

(32:35):
William Williams, Hilly Wayne, could be Yellovich who's having a
great playoff. Let me tell you this Croatian kid. I
don't think he's just you know, some dude from Croatia.
He's playing on a pro team in the Pro playoffs
and he's getting like fifteen a game.

Speaker 4 (32:52):
Who you like ist starting here?

Speaker 7 (32:53):
He just had twenty points and fourteen rebounds in a
playoff game.

Speaker 5 (32:56):
Yeah, and he's playing with girl min too. I mean
it's like what you know? Who knows how good? Like
Avsich when he came here had not played against those guys.

Speaker 4 (33:05):
He was all, this dude is playing in these games.
But who you got?

Speaker 7 (33:09):
I'm going with diabate But the shooting guard and power
forward I think is a fluid situation as the year
goes on. But to start the year, I'll put Dubonte there.

Speaker 6 (33:18):
Well, we had this scenario cup earlier. I picked Yellovitch,
But I think I'm flipping to Diabatee now and have
yellowtch off the bench, and I like Jasper maybe come
off the bench like that Kobe Brea Rose last year
before he had the other way.

Speaker 7 (33:29):
I think Aberdeen does that, I think, but I just
think the guy with the ring on his finger. I'm
say a little bit of a head start on the freshman.

Speaker 4 (33:36):
That's a fair point.

Speaker 5 (33:37):
I'm gonna sae Theabatee starts, but I think you're gonna
see I would say if Brandon Garrison is not like
is not focused. You could see where where Yelovich starts
over him like I mean, I think Garrison is definitely
in that position now. But if he comes here and
he hasn't improved like Pope thought, I could see that

(33:58):
flipp and Drew and see see especially if you have
Diabat at the four, who gives you that physicality, you
can then bring a guy like Yellowchen is your sin.

Speaker 7 (34:08):
And whatever the starting five is. I think when we
look at the numbers at the end of the year,
the minutes aren't gonna be that different between the guys
starting and the guy's coming off the bench. I think
there's gonna be a lot of guys playing twenty a
low twenty minutes and Pope using his whole.

Speaker 5 (34:20):
Bench seventeen minutes a game. Colin Chandler over under I'm.

Speaker 7 (34:25):
Going over because I'm gonna slot him his low's back
up if they want to go that route. Same playing
a little bit of multiple guard positions, you're gonna go over. Yeah,
what do you think the same? I think he's gonna
be the backup point guard. And we saw how Pope
likes the you know, that's why we have we have
you mentioned Jaden and Quainton's. I think he's gonna be
on the floor lot, maybe not start, but he'll get
as many minutes.

Speaker 5 (34:42):
As I'm still not convinced he's.

Speaker 7 (34:45):
Gonna be ready to give you. Yeah, we're just doing
game one here.

Speaker 5 (34:48):
Yeah, Trent Noah, twelve minutes over under.

Speaker 7 (34:54):
I worry about Trent this year. Uh, I will go
slightly under a minute under.

Speaker 6 (35:00):
Yeah, I go a little under. I think he's a
guy may get lost in the shuffle this rotation.

Speaker 7 (35:04):
I still think he's gonna make a big leap, but
I just think there's so many bodies.

Speaker 5 (35:07):
He's Mark Pope is not running out of people. No,
it is clear he has made the decision. I Am
not running out of folks, and I won't have enough
guys no matter what. If I'm nine to two eight
oh twenty two eighty seven, we will take a break
here at KOs Bar and Grill for lunch, New Bacon, Jamberger.

Speaker 6 (35:25):
Prime brig On, We ate the whole thing.

Speaker 5 (35:27):
Yes by we, you mean you. We will take a
break and be right back. This is Kentucky Sports Radio.
Welcome back Kentucky Sports Radio.

Speaker 4 (35:35):
Uh.

Speaker 5 (35:35):
If I'm nine two eight twenty two eighty seven. When
you look in the mirror of the morning. If you
have spots on your skin that worry you, you might
need to visit a dermatologist. The Kentucky Skin Cancer Sinner
is here in Owensboro, Bowling, Green, Franklin, and Powderly, state
of the art technology, compassionate team members and you can
go in and get it checked quickly, no reason to
worry about it. You can see if you have something

(35:57):
that needs to be removed or looked at. Very simple,
doctor Skaggs and his staff.

Speaker 4 (36:02):
It's great. Go to seven o eight four to one
not that's not enough numbers. To seven o eight four
to two none nine, that's also not enough numbers. Stay
hot to seven oh eighty four to two one nine
nine nine. There we go. That's enough numbers, all right.

Speaker 5 (36:22):
Or you can go to Kentucky Skin Cancer Center uh
dot com Kentucky Skin Cancer Center dot com. We have
some breaking news running no no. The athletic Patriots writer
reports Bill Belichick and Jordan Hudson are engaged.

Speaker 6 (36:42):
Wow wow, oh boy, messing around?

Speaker 4 (36:49):
Look at that.

Speaker 5 (36:50):
She ain't messing around, As Boumani was said, this was
her one chance, and fancy she didn't let him down.

Speaker 4 (36:57):
She's uh got him engaged. We will see if the
will see hopefully good pre nup. And how about that love,
love comes together knows no bounds Drew Franklin, at least
according to The Athletic.

Speaker 7 (37:12):
Yeah, about two weeks ago, I saw they were at
a restaurant in New York and someone noticed a big,
fat ring on her hand, And I thought, surely he
didn't already. But I guess this, This confirms that's a
trusty source saying it happened.

Speaker 5 (37:24):
Hey, listen, So now, so he's still gonna be the coach.
She's gonna be.

Speaker 3 (37:28):
There, She's gonna be the assistant coach.

Speaker 5 (37:31):
She's no longer she's not gonna be Miss Maine. So
she doesn't have to worry about those duties. She can
focus right in uh on on on North Carolina.

Speaker 7 (37:39):
And I have a question, Yes, do you think he'll uh,
he'll take her name or maybe hyphen both names. Is
he gonna be Bill Hudson Belichick?

Speaker 5 (37:50):
Now it's a good question. Maybe he should be. Hey, listen,
you know, life is hard enough Ryan on your own.
If you find somebody who you can walk with, that
makes things easier. Uh, they could go to Disney World
for their for their for their honeymoon.

Speaker 4 (38:06):
Yep, I think, uh, I think we wish the happy
couple will.

Speaker 6 (38:10):
What a circus? This whole thing is a circus. And
if you're in the North Carolina Athletic director of the
president down there thinking what in the world have we done?

Speaker 4 (38:18):
But isn't this the way to make it less of
a circus.

Speaker 5 (38:21):
It's like if they're engaged, if they get married, then
there's not as much a circus.

Speaker 4 (38:25):
She's just his uh, his wife.

Speaker 6 (38:28):
She'll end up convincing him to resign, probably after one year.

Speaker 4 (38:32):
Why would she convince him to resign? You would think
she wants the spot long.

Speaker 7 (38:36):
You're working too much, You're you're too focused on football.

Speaker 4 (38:39):
You gotta be focused.

Speaker 7 (38:39):
We have yoga in the morning.

Speaker 4 (38:41):
Looking at your playbook, we have yoga in the morning. Well, hey,
it's moved quickly, but there you go. Wow.

Speaker 5 (38:48):
Can you imagine she doesn't seem to me like the
kind of woman that's not gonna have a big wedding,
right Like, I think that's good that you want to
talk about a spectacle and.

Speaker 7 (38:57):
He don't seem like the top of the guy will
say no, we don't need that at the wedding. I
think she'll have a blank check for that win.

Speaker 4 (39:01):
Whatever you want, honey.

Speaker 3 (39:02):
Yeah, they're not going to Gatlinburg.

Speaker 5 (39:04):
If they are not going to Gallenburg with an Elvis person,
they are going.

Speaker 4 (39:08):
They are gonna have a big one.

Speaker 5 (39:10):
That'll be the social event of the decade, won't it.

Speaker 7 (39:12):
Oh yeah, and we're getting a reality show out of this.
There will be a Bravo or some kind of whatever
those whatever channel all those are on. We're getting some
romantic reality show.

Speaker 5 (39:20):
You're probably right about that. One o'clock, excuse me, two o'clock. Today,
Eastern Kentucky opens up the SEC Baseball Tournament against Oklahoma.
Remember they've changed the format of this tournament now it's
just single game elimination. So it is it is for
those of you that remember what the SEC basketball tournament was,

(39:41):
that's what this is now. So for Kentucky to win,
they'd have to win five games in five days. But
really they're probably in the tournament either way, Drew, but
a win today I think would lock them up in
the tournament. They would play Oklahoma, Tomorrow would be Georgia,
and then you just kind of go from there. So
hopefully Kentucky can get at least one. I think they're

(40:03):
probably in any way, but we'll see.

Speaker 7 (40:05):
You know, they seem pretty good keeping up with all
the bracketologies that have been updating every week. That sweep
of Oklahoma's what got him in, I think, but it
certainly helped to beat Oklahoma again today. I looked on DraftKings.
It's a pick them to let you know where the
odds stands.

Speaker 4 (40:19):
Now.

Speaker 5 (40:19):
Oklahoma is not pitching their ace. They're gonna it looks
like they would wait and pitch him tomorrow if they
win today, So we're not having to face the guy
that's supposed to be like a top ten draft pick.

Speaker 4 (40:31):
He would not, so that's good for us if we
can get a win.

Speaker 6 (40:34):
Yeah, they swept him just you know, ten days ago.
They're getting ready to play him again. I saw where
Kentucky's gonna start. The guy who just started against Northern
Kentucky last Tuesday and threw WILLI well against Northern Kentucky.
He gets to start tonight. But Kentucky could have gone
with their main guy. He started on Thursday, that's five days' rest.
He probably could have gone tonight.

Speaker 5 (40:50):
But it seems like most of these teams are taking
the view that they're gonna start their best guy in
the second game if they make it.

Speaker 4 (40:57):
Yeah, so we'll see how that.

Speaker 5 (41:00):
It's a weird thing if you're when you're doing your
pitching here, because you might want to save the guys
for the better teams. But if you don't win, it's
not gonna marry anyway. They won't get to pitch at all.

Speaker 7 (41:08):
Yeah, various by each team circumstances. I don't see Kentucky
running the table, so I think you throw your best
guys early and just try to get.

Speaker 4 (41:16):
Your saying we're throwing our midweek starter.

Speaker 6 (41:19):
Correct. The guy started against Northern Kentucky District today, Sour
or Sawyer.

Speaker 4 (41:24):
I don't think his name is sour. It is his
first name, Sawyer.

Speaker 6 (41:29):
It's on the tip of my tongue. It's like sour
s O.

Speaker 4 (41:31):
W E R s O. What do we think it is?

Speaker 3 (41:34):
Shannon, you saw your saw That would make more sense, Sawyer.

Speaker 5 (41:38):
It would make more sense than sour. I think you
wouldn't want to name your first kids first name, so name, Oh, okay,
well that makes more sense.

Speaker 4 (41:46):
All right. Some interviews, uh I got Jayleen Lowe will
be on the show.

Speaker 8 (41:50):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (41:51):
Here tomorrow, we are interviewing Mark Pope.

Speaker 5 (41:54):
They postponed it a day, so we are interviewing Mark
Pope tomorrow afternoon. After the show it will air on Thursday, probably,
assuming it goes long enough, we will do the second
hour on Thursday, will just be a one on one
with me and Mark Pope. That's at least the plan
right now, and then the podcast I'm interviewing Crystal Ball

(42:14):
today and Ryan McGee tomorrow.

Speaker 4 (42:16):
Those podcasts will be up later in the week that
you can listen to on Memorial Day weekend.

Speaker 6 (42:21):
The Matt Jones Podcast with your face on it?

Speaker 5 (42:24):
No, why are you confused? The Matt Jones Show with
my face on with your face on it? Yes, with that,
with that picture of me smiling, I love the other guys.

Speaker 7 (42:34):
Probably gonna wake up check his phone and have all
these new subscribers.

Speaker 4 (42:38):
Wows.

Speaker 6 (42:38):
I really locked into the Kentucky audience today.

Speaker 4 (42:41):
For whatever reason. Uh he found it. Thank you folks
very much for uh for.

Speaker 5 (42:45):
Coming out and uh, just one more time, everybody keep
the folks in London in your thoughts. There should be
an announcement, I think from the Governor's office this afternoon
about ways for people uh, to contribute, which would be good,
and I do think I think if you have a
ble body over the next few days, clean up is
still there's a lot to still do there and I

(43:06):
think people would love to have any volunteers.

Speaker 4 (43:08):
Thank you, folks very much for listening.
