That was I don't know what that was from this
morning already have a stain ready to rock.
Speaker 4 (01:32):
So today's a big day.
Speaker 5 (01:34):
We have Mark Pope on for well it's gonna be
an hour, but it ended up being an hour long,
so it becomes an hour and fifteen minutes on the
show after commercials and that, so it will We're going
to start that interview at ten forty five, so it
will run from ten forty five until the end of
the show. Then if you go get on your podcast today,
(01:56):
hour one will be a shorter hour. It'll be just
be the first three segments, and then an hour two
is gonna be the whole interview, including parts we had
to cut out of this one nice so there's like
fifteen minutes of the interview or no, wait a minute.
We ended up not cutting any that's right, That's why
we did the extra segment, so never mind. Okay, but
hour two will just be the whole Pope interview uninterrupted,
(02:16):
So so that will be how we do the podcast today. Ryan,
you were there for the interview yesterday. I mean not
to tease it, but let's yeah, let's do a little teasing.
Speaker 4 (02:27):
What do you think?
Speaker 6 (02:27):
I thought it was fantastic. I mean, it really was good,
and I'm glad you didn't cut anything out of there
because everything he said was really me as a fan
sit there listening was awesome. I wanted to hear my
coach say a lot of those names.
Speaker 5 (02:39):
Billy and I were gonna cut like seven or eight minutes,
and then we couldn't figure out what's to cut exactly.
It feels like everything is something that the radio audience
should hear, so I'm just gonna gonna let it go.
Speaker 7 (02:49):
I haven't heard much about it. I saw the clips
and I got secret Yeah. No, well, I got one
text from Ryan. He was counting the specials. So that's
all I really know is that Pope was using as
his favorite one.
Speaker 4 (02:58):
So let me give you some just a couple of highlights.
Speaker 5 (03:00):
First of all, he talks about a lot about the players,
well not a lot, but some about the players on
next year's team, but a lot Ryan, about his philosophy
going forward.
Speaker 4 (03:09):
Yes, how he's going to schedule, how he's going to recruit.
Speaker 5 (03:13):
He acknowledged a couple things about last year's team and
the building of this one that he's doing differently after
having played in the season in the SEC.
Speaker 4 (03:21):
I thought all that stuff was interesting.
Speaker 6 (03:22):
Yeah, you asked him some questions that I think the
fan base has always wondered about themselves. I won't spoil anything,
but there's some good questions where you get to hear
Pope in depth, how he viewsed things and how he coaches.
Speaker 4 (03:34):
He has a little swagger in it.
Speaker 5 (03:35):
Yeah right, Yeah, talks about also the last the last
six or seven minutes, Ryan, we're actually very you know,
he's such.
Speaker 4 (03:46):
A nice guy. We're actually very meaningful to me.
Speaker 5 (03:48):
He talked about us, Yeah, and he talked about what
happened in London, and I think it was a very
I definitely didn't want to cut that part. So that's
kind of why we're doing it the way we are.
Speaker 6 (03:58):
You're right, Yeah, the last seven to ten minutes. You
get to hear Mark Pope as a person. Now as
a coach, you hear him as a person, and you
can tell he's so sincere. What he says about helping
folks down at London, and then the stuff he said
about KSR, I mean, was really kind of meaningful to me.
Speaker 5 (04:12):
It was meaningful to me. Now you know a little
behind the scenes here, Drew. We like a little behind
the scenes.
Speaker 4 (04:19):
So, uh, surprisingly, knock.
Speaker 5 (04:22):
On wood before we play it here, surprisingly glitch free. Right,
I get there, worried? I get there. Ryan's got it
set up and it's connected. It was almost shitting. It
was almost too working, you know what I mean.
Speaker 4 (04:36):
Yeah, it was.
Speaker 3 (04:36):
It was almost like, hey, beautiful working machine.
Speaker 5 (04:40):
What's what's gonna go wrong here? Something's gonna go wrong.
It's too good. Uh. Mario had the cameras Drew. You know,
it looked great. But right when we're about to start,
he has the camera at our nipples again, and I said, Mario,
you've got to raise the camera. I was like, Mark
Pope is to be a six inches taller, eight inches
(05:02):
taller than I am. And he was like, oh, okay,
I don't know what we're gonna have to do to
get him to not shoot.
Speaker 4 (05:07):
From the girl life, Like, I don't know, I don't
get it. What does it? What do we have to
do with it?
Speaker 7 (05:11):
I have to defend Mario a little bit. I saw
a picture of you where it looked like you were
actively trying to get your thigh on camera. You had it,
you had it way raised above the table with short
shorts on.
Speaker 4 (05:21):
I felt like it needed a little thigh to add
to the thing.
Speaker 7 (05:24):
No, it looked like you were like, could I get
my thigh in this shot?
Speaker 6 (05:27):
Behind the scenes again, Befa, we were setting up, Mario
and I were anxiously looking for a tablecloth to hide
so you would never you wouldn't see aybody's thighs underneath
the table and he.
Speaker 5 (05:35):
And Pope pats so I thought we were gonna both
thigh together and and he did not.
Speaker 4 (05:41):
Then after it was over, we you.
Speaker 5 (05:45):
And I asked for a little uh, I don't know,
inside baseball, like, tell me what's so we can't talk
about all that. But one thing he said that I
think we can is I said, you know, give me
the player that's most important next year. And then I said,
give me the guy to watch out for do you
think we can say those two?
Speaker 6 (06:06):
I think you can. That's something I think he would
say publicly.
Speaker 4 (06:08):
Yeah, So he said, uh, he thought Diabate.
Speaker 5 (06:12):
Yeah, is going to be the dude that is going
to be like sneaky to people, that he might even
be the leader of the team, that he has that
personality to be like kind of like Lamont Butler was
last year, which I thought was interesting. And then he
said the player that is most important, the one that's
like gotta be good, is Jaalen Lowe.
Speaker 4 (06:32):
Yeah, And I thought those were two very interesting answers.
Speaker 5 (06:35):
Right.
Speaker 6 (06:36):
The Diabate thing is one kind of surprised me. I
guess as the guy I didn't realize, but maybe he
was that type of person, that type of player, that
type of leader.
Speaker 5 (06:42):
Yeah, he thought he thinks he might walk into the
locker room and kind of be the leader immediate. Were
you surprised when he said that, No, because I think
that's why you bring in a guy like that. I mean,
I he could have said that about him or Aberdeen
and I wouldn't have been shocked, right, Like, I think
you gotta I think that makes sense to me. But
it'll be interesting to see, you know, I'm a big
(07:03):
believer that your leader has to be the best player,
and if he believes Diabatee is gonna be the leader,
maybe he will.
Speaker 4 (07:10):
He has got to be one of your best players.
Speaker 5 (07:12):
To me, that even confirms even more he's gonna start right,
Like you don't say something like that if he's not
gonna be the one that starts.
Speaker 7 (07:18):
The little thing doesn't surprise me just because depth there,
but uh dia Bote, I love hearing that. I thought
he would start over Yellovich but wasn't sure. But that
kind of gives me a little even more assurance he will,
and I like hearing that he'll be a leader. He's
been to a Final four. I don't think he played
much on that Alabama team as a freshman, but he
has a experience playing on a great team, so hopefully
he takes another step forward and can lead those guests.
Speaker 5 (07:38):
Ryan sent me a text during the interview, Shannon, Yeah,
that I was making fun of Pope, which I then
read to him on the air and called Ryan out
on the air because you can't be making fun of
Mark Pope and he was making fun of him, So
I just.
Speaker 4 (07:56):
Read it on the air and got Mark Pope to respond, Ry, you.
Speaker 8 (08:01):
Threw Ryan under the bus, on directly under the bus,
because he was making fun of Sir Mark Pope, And
so I felt like I had to say.
Speaker 6 (08:11):
He turned the trade table, made fun of me. You'll
hear him kind of get on you a little bit,
turn on a plane, turned the trade table. Yeah, yeah,
why'd you have the word tray? I don't know.
Speaker 7 (08:24):
I was in on the text he sent you is
he sent it to our group, and that's all I
knew about the interview, and I thought it must be
lighthearted if we've got ryme.
Speaker 5 (08:32):
And we we talked him about the words we think
he uses to bud yes, talking about Travis Perry.
Speaker 6 (08:36):
Yeah, that's good.
Speaker 4 (08:37):
It was good. It's really good.
Speaker 5 (08:39):
Little I mean he goes into detail on uh on
Travis Perry and uh yeah, and I you know, I did.
I tried to think, Okay, what are the questions fans
always kept asking me, and uh huh. So you know,
I hope everybody enjoys it, and I think Mark for
doing it. I mean, he sat with us. They told
me we have a hard out at this time, and
(09:00):
he set with us for another fifteen minutes and.
Speaker 6 (09:03):
Then he talked just kind of after the interview was
already sitt and talk to him.
Speaker 4 (09:05):
He's just set and talk. So I mean, like that's
how he is.
Speaker 5 (09:08):
You You know how they say when you go to
the doctor, don't go at three o'clock because you're gonna
continually get backed up because the day keeps going. That's
got to be Mark Pope's schedule, sure, right, because I
feel like he does that drew with everybody, and I
think his schedule just will continually get backed up because
he's so nice, and he spends extra time.
Speaker 7 (09:28):
Abe and he's always doing something and a lot of
time's not even election. And so I'm glad you all
got a kind of unlimited time with him and got
the long conversation.
Speaker 5 (09:36):
Now, we did get a little scoop that we didn't say,
but that came out last night without us, which is
that Jaden.
Speaker 4 (09:43):
Quaintan's is here, yeah, and that.
Speaker 5 (09:45):
He got here early, like he wasn't supposed to be
here till like June sixth or something, and he I
guess he hopped in early flight nice probably didn't want
to have to go through Newark, right, And now he's
here early, and that all of these guys are gonna
be here this summer, so that's kind of exciting, Drew.
Speaker 4 (10:01):
And you know this future draft talent is already in town.
Speaker 7 (10:05):
Yes, I saw on Instagram he got the Jeff Ruby
shoecake already.
Speaker 4 (10:09):
He got the shoecake the first night.
Speaker 7 (10:11):
Well, he never got an official visit, so they kind
of packaged his official visit right before he was rehabbing.
Everyone else got the royal treatment. He never got it
with Pope, so I think they kind of put that
on the front end. So he got his shoecake. Looked
like he was having a good time and good to hear. He's,
you know, rehabbing well and getting closer and closer.
Speaker 6 (10:28):
See, that's awesome. He's in camp on campus now because
he'll get in with these trainers and physical therapy and
help him get closer and closer getting me ready to play.
Speaker 4 (10:36):
Yeah, no, I think that is. I think that's very good.
I think we you know, we're going to have a
group that is going to be more athletic, right, Oh, yes,
they're gonna be insanely deep. Is this the deepest?
Speaker 5 (10:53):
I mean, look, the twenty fifteen team is unique in
the sense of how big the star power or was.
But in terms of depth, there's fourteen guys on this team,
and there are eleven or twelve guys who legitimately go
into this season assuming they're gonna play.
Speaker 6 (11:14):
Oh, yeah, for sure.
Speaker 4 (11:16):
Is that the most depth? Yeah?
Speaker 7 (11:18):
Even I mean the twenty fifteen teams the deepest ever.
But I think this team's end of the bench is
like the thirteen fourteenth spot. You have a McDonald's All American,
a top thirty five recruit, and Rhese Potter played twenty
minutes a game for Miami. He's seven foot one, he's
probably the fifth. We assume those are the last three
on the end of the bench. There's probably not been
a team that have had those pieces at the very
(11:39):
end of Kentucky Will. I mean, you have a guy
who played twenty minutes a game. Granted it was in
the MAC, but twenty minutes a game that if I
were betting today as the fourteenth man.
Speaker 4 (11:47):
Yeah, I mean, that's crazy.
Speaker 7 (11:49):
And a guy that just committed is the thirteenth man
who Duke offered right thirty fifth and still climbing NBA potential,
then Marino and McDonald's All American right in front of them.
It's crazy. What they have from one through threet.
Speaker 5 (12:01):
You also have a dude who's going to be a
lottery pick who no one projects to start.
Speaker 6 (12:09):
When does that ever happen?
Speaker 5 (12:10):
Well, Devin Booker, But otherwise on that team, I mean,
that's that's kind of it, like it's it's it's kind
of wild again. And I don't think the top end
talent is as good as the top end talent on
that twenty fifteen team, but the depth is right there with.
Speaker 6 (12:26):
Them, these guys we've already mentioned, and you just look
a couple of seats over well, there's Colin Chandler and
Trent Noah, who played a lot of minutes in the
second half of the season. They're both sitting there position
like what eight nine, nine, ten somewhere in there?
Speaker 4 (12:37):
Yeah, on the bitch, have you ever seen me that quiet?
Speaker 6 (12:44):
You're a different interviewer when it comes to radio and
when it comes to podcasts.
Speaker 4 (12:48):
Why do you think that is? Or first of all,
why what do you mean?
Speaker 6 (12:51):
Well, like, when you on a podcast, you ask really
good questions and then you sit and let the guy
give a really good answer. You you don't interrupt him
at all. Radio show, you'd like to keep it moving,
you know, get in and out, keep it moving, keep
it moving. So it's a totally different interview format. And
that's why when you do your podcast, I think all
white people like it because you ask the really good,
insightful questions that will draw a good response from whoever
(13:13):
you're talking to.
Speaker 5 (13:14):
Yeah, and he is not Cow level of going on
and on, No, but he does go. He does and
so like there were a couple of times that I
had to go. I looked at you a couple of times,
a couple of times where you have to go, all right,
wrap it up. Here we go the next question, next question. Now,
unlike Cal, he'll let you do it. He takes the
(13:36):
social queue. This is a little just behind the scenes,
okay between Cow and col will not take a social
queue in an interview. You can hint both with your
eyes and your sounds. This would be better to move on.
He't stopper, Okay.
Speaker 6 (13:52):
I got stuff to say.
Speaker 5 (13:53):
He trying out to say, the train is going and
if sorry, Tom Leach, sorry, if you ain't not by,
I decide the train. That's cal Pope says a lot.
But he will, you know, he will take the social
cueue of Okay, I think I think we should move
to the next thing.
Speaker 7 (14:12):
His train will slow down and zipper merge a little bit.
Speaker 4 (14:14):
While it's exactly right.
Speaker 5 (14:16):
He can look at I can watch him, he can
look at me, and he kind of accepts, Okay, let
me go to the next.
Speaker 6 (14:23):
Yeh, we wrap this up.
Speaker 5 (14:24):
You'll hear it in this thing. Oh sure, you'll hear it.
You'll almost you if you listen. I'll kind of go
And then he's like, and he wraps up. I don't
need to interrupt. He can feel that it's time to
wrap I.
Speaker 6 (14:35):
Think that's why it's it comes across so good with
you guys talking to each other, just having a conversation.
Speaker 4 (14:40):
So well, we will air that at ten forty five.
Speaker 5 (14:43):
We're gonna talk about some other things I am going
to have to do because we're running the interview in
its entirety. I'm going to have to do the ads
all in the first hour. So I apologize for the
fact that we are going to be atastic.
Speaker 3 (14:57):
What do you be ad free in the second hour?
Speaker 4 (14:59):
Though, that's right, it's addtastic.
Speaker 5 (15:02):
Now you're paying your tax now, so that it's ad
free for the h one. Well, when I say, Erek,
we're still running commercials, but you won't have the liveries.
When you look at the morning mirror in the morning,
do you have spots on your skin that worry you, Well,
how about the Kentucky skin cancer experts. They will see
let you see a dermatologist and see if you need
any treatment. Owes Row, Bowling, Green, Franklin and Powderly. They
(15:25):
can help cure your skin cancer and give you the
best cosmetic result possible. It is a Kentucky Skin Cancer Center,
Doctor Skaggs and his staff highly recommend him two seven
oh eight four to two one nine nine nine, or
visit Kentucky Skin Cancercenter dot com. They will treat you
like family. We'll take a break, be right back. What
at a basketball game last night? It's KSR, welcome back,
(15:51):
take you sports Radio. So the game last night we
do it. I mean, we're rarely gonna just talk about, uh,
you know, the NBA game, but how could you not Well,
that was one of the better, one of the better
NBA games I've ever seen. You know.
Speaker 6 (16:09):
The Eastern Conference playoffs this year have been unbelievable with
the Pacers and the Cavs and then the Knicks and
the Celtics, they've been crazy, but that game last night
was an all timer. I could not you know, I'm
a Pacers fan. I thought they were done. I could
not believe what I saw last night.
Speaker 5 (16:23):
It was the last I mean, they were up for
what's fourteen to two and a half minutes yess ago,
they were up nine with fifty one seconds to.
Speaker 2 (16:32):
Go outscoring outscoring from twenty to six in the last
two and a half. When Smith had twenty alone in
the fourth quarter, he couldn't be stopped.
Speaker 4 (16:40):
It was amazing.
Speaker 5 (16:40):
And then the shot, I mean, the drama of the
last shot by Haliburton. First of all, he could have
had a layup, yeah to tie, pulls out and shoots
the three. He had a layup, I mean like he
gave up a layup to go shoot.
Speaker 4 (16:55):
He shoots it.
Speaker 5 (16:56):
He then does the Reggie Miller choke gesture, which of
course is done in the garden before, and then it
turns out to be a two. Like the drama of
that ten seconds. I was on the phone with my
friend Hubby and I couldn't he wasn't watching the game,
and I just started yelling and he was like, we're
having a conversation here, and I am just screaming because
(17:17):
I couldn't believe it.
Speaker 7 (17:18):
It's one of the best finishes I can remember. It's
kind of like the step back you hit against the Calves.
He did something a little similar in the earlier round,
and then you think it's over.
Speaker 4 (17:26):
I love the tick. I'm bouncing. It bounced. It bounced
higher than the shot clock. Yes, like, I don't think
I've ever seen a shot bounce that high. Period.
Speaker 7 (17:36):
It's weird that the Pacers bench almost knew too. They
were celebrating while the ball was still way up in
the air. They must have had a good angle.
Speaker 5 (17:42):
Yeah, it was. It was what drama? And then the
Knicks get up four and overtime. I got on DraftKings
Shannon seriously. Yeah, during the break before the overtime, I
was going to empty my bank account to bet on
the Pacers.
Speaker 4 (17:57):
Going into overtime.
Speaker 6 (17:58):
Yeah, they had all the a two and a half
point dog.
Speaker 5 (18:00):
I couldn't believe it. And then I went and I
just had taken my money out to put it to
use for the I moved it for the Derby and
the Preakness, and so I'm frantically trying to get a
bank transfer in there, and I couldn't get it in
because I knew. I knew there's no way the Knicks
were gonna win after.
Speaker 7 (18:17):
That, after I had my whole account on the Knicks.
So that was funny toof you.
Speaker 2 (18:21):
Did the choke sign, like, you can't if you're the
Pacers going to overtime and then lose that.
Speaker 4 (18:25):
Game, Oh you can't.
Speaker 3 (18:26):
It would be mocked forever if you did that, dude.
Speaker 4 (18:29):
And then the poor I mean I was kind of
rooting for the Knicks.
Speaker 5 (18:32):
The poor arena, like those people just look like they
all wanted to jump off of.
Speaker 3 (18:38):
The probably wanted to throw up again all over the floor.
Speaker 7 (18:44):
They were stunned.
Speaker 6 (18:45):
You know, Big Carl missed a crucial free throw that and.
Speaker 5 (18:48):
Oji who shoots like they both missed a free throw
down the stretch. You rarely see an NBA team just collapse.
Is that's one of the five best NBA games I've
ever seen.
Speaker 4 (18:59):
It definitely the last two or three minutes, right.
Speaker 6 (19:02):
And the Knicks at home had that big le late
in the game, and to let it slip away, they
deserve the choke signal.
Speaker 5 (19:07):
And then I'm so excited, get ready for the best
show in sports, which is the NBA Show on TNT.
The NBA Show on TNT isn't the best sports show ever.
I'm being dead serious. I think it's the best sports
show ever, the only one. Early PTI. I loved PTI
in the early days before Willbom became more than I
(19:29):
can handle. Yeah, but I'm such a Cornheiser guy. And
it revolutionized TV. Like, seriously, that whole countdown thing. They
started all that and now everybody does it. I mean, hey, Kentucky,
we just completely stole the whole thing.
Speaker 4 (19:44):
Right.
Speaker 5 (19:46):
So the NBA on TNT show is the best. But
the moment I turn on there, why do they have
Draymond on there? Why do you have the best show
of all time? Which, by the way, might end in
a couple of weeks. I mean, it's supposed to be
renewed on ESP but they haven't worked out the car
he could end and you make him sit there? Yeah,
who wants to see him on TV? I feel the
(20:08):
same way about him, Drew. I feel when I see
people saying steven A. Smith is gonna be president because
everybody wants him too. Who is that person who is
sitting around and to go wanting steven A to be president?
Who wants Draymond on TV?
Speaker 7 (20:20):
No, that perfect chemistry. They don't need him, but they
know he'll say something that'll go viral. He'll call somebody
out or say something controversial.
Speaker 4 (20:26):
Not even entertaining. Those guys are fun Those guys are.
Speaker 5 (20:29):
Funny, like Shaq and and and Charles make fun of
each other, and Kenny actually has some insight, and Ernie
Johnson seems like your dad.
Speaker 7 (20:37):
Like they're hoping Charles and Draymond will fight on the
air because it's it's good clicks.
Speaker 4 (20:41):
I can't.
Speaker 5 (20:42):
We're gonna get Draymond on TV for like the next
twenty five years, and it's gonna drive me crazy. I
find him next to Aaron Rodgers. I think he's the
least likable sports personality play.
Speaker 4 (20:51):
I minded him on TV too well, you can guarantee
how you watching that.
Speaker 5 (20:56):
But I don't even want to watch dreamond seriously, are
though he is so unlikable to me?
Speaker 4 (21:01):
Why is he on there?
Speaker 5 (21:01):
Well?
Speaker 6 (21:02):
I was gonna say, do you think that they're trying
to make him the next Charles Barkley need to be
that guy?
Speaker 5 (21:06):
He's not because Charles Barkley is likable. At the end
of the day, Draymond just says stuff Charles is funny,
Like you want to have a beer with Charles? Do
you want to have a beer with Draymond?
Speaker 7 (21:19):
Like when Charles talks about the women in San Antonio, Okay,
you shouldn't say it, but you kind of know he's saying.
Speaker 4 (21:24):
In justin you can get the women in San Antonio.
No one else could get away with that, right right,
No one else.
Speaker 5 (21:30):
Could go on TV and say the women in a
city are overweight, but he does, and they actually kind
of lik him for it. They think it's cute, and
they women send him video like Draymond would never be
able to do that.
Speaker 6 (21:43):
Well, that's I have no idea what the prouser's having,
but I think that's what they think. Draymond can say
that crazy stuff like Chuck and be the next Charles Barkley.
Speaker 5 (21:52):
Get him off the television anyway. I love the game.
I thought it was it was that was really entertaining.
The Dicks have any chance in the series at all.
Not now.
Speaker 6 (22:03):
I feel like a game like that a lot of
times will just take your soul right out of your body.
Speaker 7 (22:07):
I feel like they still win the series. That took
a special fourth quarter even though.
Speaker 6 (22:15):
You got a Reggie Miller shirt on today doing the chokes.
Speaker 7 (22:17):
You gotta believe in the Mill list and don't count
them out. See the Pacers. Only four teams in history
have come back from uh down seven and they're three
of them in this playoffs. I mean they do have
some which.

Speaker 5 (24:13):
And I talked to college football and a little racing.
Speaker 4 (24:17):
Yeah, little racing. It was good.
Speaker 5 (24:20):
I even got him to talk about something. He goes,
I never ever talk about something political, and then he did.
It wasn't whoa, yeah, it wasn't that political. But it
was just like, he goes, you got me, Matt Jones,
which is not what I was trying to do. But
I love Ryan McGee And for those of you that
like a little racing, he tells a couple of really
good stories. It's what the Mad Jones Show will do.
He'll talk about anything.
Speaker 4 (24:40):
Told me the.
Speaker 5 (24:41):
Smartest coach college football coach, he knows, the dumbest coach,
the biggest jerk, and the funniest.
Speaker 6 (24:48):
That's kind of cool, and he.
Speaker 5 (24:50):
Answered all of them. He answered the biggest jerk without
even thinking. I thought he was gonna have to pause.
No pause. He was like, I know the biggest jerk,
it's burk.
Speaker 3 (24:59):
I'd rather hear the dumb us coach. Is it gonna called.
Speaker 6 (25:02):
Dumb well.
Speaker 5 (25:06):
In any of the categories, But these are all coaches
you'd heard of? Yeah, so uh so, yeah, it was
it was, it was it was a lot of fun.
Then tomorrow we're at the Mount Laurel Festival, but we
will be at the Bell Theater in Pinevale. Yes, okay,
so Bell Theater in Pineville, which is right there in
downtown Pineville. This will be your first time at the
(25:27):
Mount Laurel Festival, one of Kentucky's great festival. I mean,
if you're if you're giving the Big four or five,
what are the best festivals in Kentucky?
Speaker 4 (25:35):
You got what what would you say?
Speaker 5 (25:36):
He'll Billy Days, Courts Days. I think the Mount Laurel
festivals in them? What else are we talking? Barbecue Barbecue
festival is good, the Chicken Festival in London?
Speaker 4 (25:49):
What else?
Speaker 6 (25:50):
Daniel Boone festival like.
Speaker 5 (25:51):
That one that's good Kentucky? What are some Western the
ham Days and Marion Coaum. I like that one.
Speaker 6 (25:58):
Sorghum festival in spring Field and been down there.
Speaker 4 (26:01):
What else? What? I feel like I'm missing one?
Speaker 6 (26:03):
Apple festivals? And where's the county?
Speaker 5 (26:05):
That's a big one apple festival in Casey County. So
I've just given you sort of a tour of the state.
Mount Laurel is kind of the we all dress up,
you know, they have the Mario they get a student
from every college in Kentucky and they have a queen
contest where they where they bow and they curtsey and
(26:27):
then the winner they take their escort the dude and
throw him in a lake.
Speaker 7 (26:33):
What a tradition.
Speaker 5 (26:33):
They throw him in a lake, in a suit, in
a tucks and a tux, in a tux, they throw
him in a lake. Shannon, I think that's a good tradition.
They have for like eighty five years thrown someone in
a lake.
Speaker 2 (26:44):
I want to throw somebody in a lake. Can we
throw Ryan a lake tomorrow?
Speaker 3 (26:49):
We can throw you in.
Speaker 5 (26:49):
I asked if we could do the show at the
Chain Rock, but they said it might be a little
hard to get to before.
Speaker 6 (26:55):
Well, let's just hope and pray that rock is secured
up there. I won't roll down the mountain.
Speaker 4 (27:01):
While you're in Pine Sam.
Speaker 3 (27:04):
If that's the case, I don't think that's.
Speaker 4 (27:06):
Very nice of you to make fun of it. Right before?
Speaker 6 (27:08):
Can we get into pineval Or the floodgates be closed?
Speaker 4 (27:11):
What gates are gonna be opened?
Speaker 6 (27:12):
Right?
Speaker 4 (27:12):
All right?
Speaker 5 (27:13):
I think it's gonna be all uh So, if you're
in the area, you can come to the Bell Theater
we'll be uh, we'll be right there in downtown.
Speaker 7 (27:19):
Be fun.
Speaker 6 (27:20):
I've never been. I'm looking forward to it that.
Speaker 5 (27:21):
Shannon, you and I are going to stay at beautiful
Pine Mountain State Park tonight.
Speaker 4 (27:27):
Are you king about that?
Speaker 3 (27:28):
I'm gonna come down.
Speaker 4 (27:29):
Yeah. You know, normally I would stay with my parents,
but my mom's up at college. My mom's off of school,
you know, I center off the college at Wheaton, So
it's tough.
Speaker 6 (27:43):
Why don't we have a party at your mom and
dad's house tonight then?
Speaker 5 (27:46):
But uh, Shannon, they changed the locks and I don't
have a key to the house. But the thing is
that means I never get to stay at I mean, whie,
my mom would be upset if I stayed at Pine
Mountain and so they're gone, So like I can stay
up there and it's beautiful, Shan, Are you going to
get there in time to like see it?
Speaker 4 (28:03):
Or you getting there in the middle of the night.
Speaker 2 (28:04):
Well, I got ovw tonight, so I'll probably won't be
leaving until nine o'clock, which means I won't get there
until about midnight, so i'll see it tomorrow morning.
Speaker 5 (28:10):
Okay, Well it is, it's beautiful, so I'm going to
go up there and look at the beautiful mountains.
Speaker 6 (28:16):
We stayed there at one point during all of our travels.
Speaker 4 (28:18):
We did.
Speaker 6 (28:19):
I don't know why we were there, but we did
stay there one time.
Speaker 4 (28:21):
We did.
Speaker 5 (28:22):
I think you're right, all right, So Mark Pope interview
comes here in just a minute. I just want to
say one quick thing, and I want everybody to I
feel like it's important to say this because it affects
our state. And ultimately, I know a lot of people
they don't like when I do this, but I want
to do it. Folks, you need to follow what's happening
(28:44):
right now with this budget bill that's about to be
passed in Washington. If it's passed, and I think it's
going to be, it's going to really really hurt the
hospitals in this state, rural hospitals. When you hear them
talk about cutting Medicaid, well that sounds like, oh, that's good,
but the problem is if you cut medicaids, you're going
(29:06):
to kill our rural hospitals. Eastern Kentucky hospitals specifically will
shut down. The reason those hospitals are able to stay
open is because the government gives them Medicaid for people
who come in because they don't have the money, a.
Speaker 4 (29:18):
Lot of them to pay for the hospital stuff.
Speaker 5 (29:21):
When I did my Mitch Please book, I went to
all these hospitals where where the people who run them
are all Trump Republicans, and they would all say, oh,
they'll never do that.
Speaker 4 (29:30):
They can't do that. We will close down the budget
the House just passed.
Speaker 5 (29:34):
Last night will close probably half of the rural hospitals
in Kentucky. Just keep at it. And I would say, like,
follow it. You know, five of the six Kentucky representatives
voted for it. I don't understand why. I do think
it can change in the Senate. I hope it does.
(29:54):
But this is like I don't bring up individual issues
a lot, that's when they're going on. But this was
a big one because in places like Pinevale, where we're
going tomorrow, if this bill passes, the Pineville Hospital's in trouble,
and there's a lot of places like that, and Ryan,
I just feel like I need to say that because
it's it's not even about politics.
Speaker 4 (30:15):
To me.
Speaker 5 (30:15):
Most of the people that are represented by the people
that voted for it, this will affect them and they
don't even know it.
Speaker 4 (30:22):
And I feel like they need to.
Speaker 6 (30:23):
Well, just hearing you say that, it makes it sound
a little scary.
Speaker 5 (30:26):
It's scary to me. And here's the thing. On a
personal level, the bill will help me. I'll get a
tax cut, I'll have a lot more money. I don't
need it. Those people need it. Yeah, and that's what
makes me sad. On a personal level, this is great,
but I would hate it for these places. And I
especially felt that feel that way when I think about
(30:48):
where I was last week and I think about the
care of those people got in the moment.
Speaker 4 (30:53):
What if those hospitals.
Speaker 6 (30:54):
Weren't there, That's right exactly.
Speaker 5 (30:56):
You know, London's Hospital will probably survive, but with these
other ones, what if the thing was in a tiny town? Sure,
I don't know. And so that's I just felt like
I wanted to say that today. I'd give a longer explanation,
but we have a Mark Pope interview, and so we
have to do, uh, you know what we have to do.
We also want to tell you about commonwealth causes.
Speaker 6 (31:17):
Okay, Queen Hearts tonight, who Queen of Hearts?
Speaker 7 (31:21):
And the Queen of Hearts?
Speaker 4 (31:22):
Are you gonna win it?
Speaker 6 (31:23):
Oh? I'm gonna win it. One of these days.
Speaker 5 (31:25):
All right, well, Commonwealth Causes, we'll tell you that it's
a platform. Oh no, I'm sorry, this is Commonwealth Markets.
This is my Commonwealth horse stuff. Okay, would you like
to be part of.
Speaker 4 (31:35):
