Welcome to our two of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by
Stockton Mortgage. Now here's Matt Jones welcome back.

Speaker 3 (01:05):
I remember two Kentucky sports radio A five nine two
eight oh twenty two eighty seven, text machine seven seven
two seven seven four five two five four.

Speaker 4 (01:12):
This man right here just said that. When he heard
me say dollar wings on Wednesday, his car just drove right.

Speaker 3 (01:17):
Here, which is what it should do. Not gonna get
a better deal. You know, food's expensive nowadays. I'm not
gonna lie. I went went to somewhere. I went to
get M and m's yesterday. It was four dollars oh
for a little pack of M and ms. And I
went Joe Biden, what you said? Yeah, I remember he
wasn't present anymore, but I still was like, let me

(01:38):
tell you something. But uh but food is expensive, so
you're not I mean to get a deal. Like a
dollar Wings dollar They're the same price they were when
we open. How much food is the same price it
was when we opened seven years ago? Water too, water
Washington is more expensive. Well, in the tap it's free,
but like you go buy it in a bottle, it's
much more expensive.

Speaker 4 (01:57):
It's crazy.

Speaker 1 (01:58):
You may notice Monique has put the barber q sauce
is two of them back on every table. The sweet
barbecue sauce and the Carolina tangy bottles back on every table.
That's new?

Speaker 4 (02:10):
Is that? Is that opro pos of what we're talking about?

Speaker 1 (02:14):
Yeah, you got the saw the wing sauce and now
you can have it on your table with your wings.

Speaker 4 (02:18):
Okay, and it's free. It's free, so you're exactly what
it costs the same as it did before.

Speaker 1 (02:22):
There we go.

Speaker 5 (02:23):
I'm tying that into the question.

Speaker 3 (02:25):
There's there's a science to following Ryan's burn. You just
have to kind of loop around free sauce and the
dollar wings. Also trivia. The final qualify for trivia is
tomorrow night. I'm working on my questions. Uh, make sure
you tomorrow call and get your reservation, but also just
come and be ready because this is the final one

(02:46):
before we get to the to the to the big
time champion.

Speaker 1 (02:49):
At the end. Has that date been set.

Speaker 4 (02:51):
It has not been set yet. It'll be on winning.
You're in it.

Speaker 1 (02:56):
Unfortunately our team qualified.

Speaker 4 (02:57):
Yeah, well you should come tomorrow and see how you're
gonna do.

Speaker 1 (03:01):
I can bring the whole family. Got a bunch of
family coming in for graduation.

Speaker 4 (03:03):
Bring Oh now, so UK graduate or high school graduations
tomorrow starts tomorrow here's a little word of advice. Stay
away from downtown tomorrow, Amen, stay away, stay away. Remember
how bad it was for UK worse now have a
bunch of high school kids run around.

Speaker 3 (03:23):
Uh, it's it's terrible. Tomorrow is one of the worst
traffic days of the year in Lexington. So just keep
that in mind in downtown. If you're out here, you're okay.
But you get downtown.

Speaker 1 (03:33):
They staggered the graduation. I think they're at ten, two
and six. But that transition when one ends and the
other ones getting ready to begin time is.

Speaker 4 (03:40):
Just I graduate ten. That's right.

Speaker 3 (03:41):
You're not gonna be here tomorrow, correct, Okay? So, uh well,
congratulations up there, Thank you. I would like to uh,
I'm happy for you. I'm not happy for the fact
you're wearing a Florida Panthers T shirt as Game five
is tonight against my Carolina Hurricanes.

Speaker 4 (03:54):
That feels rude.

Speaker 1 (03:56):
I think I'm a big Florida Panthers fan right now.
You know they're playing the Herd.

Speaker 3 (04:00):
Kaynes, And uh, didn't you tell me that you had
a lot of fun in the Carolina Hurricanes playoff game.

Speaker 1 (04:04):
It's the only one I've ever been to.

Speaker 5 (04:05):
It was awesome.

Speaker 4 (04:06):
So why are you wearing that shirt? I know it's
just gonna trigger me.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
I like to support a winner, and I think the
Florida Panthers are, you know, defending champs, defending Cup champs.
I got this from Ryan Collins, one of our former workers,
the big Panther fan Drew say things even worked for
the Panthers at one point. Those are the big Kines fans.
We're trying to just poke you a little bit.

Speaker 3 (04:23):
Yeah, By the way, one thing Jerry said there about
the accountability, I think that's a.

Speaker 4 (04:28):
Very valid point, very valid point.

Speaker 3 (04:31):
If Mark Stoops preaches accountability, how do you give a
raise when people were worse?

Speaker 4 (04:36):
That's a fair point.

Speaker 5 (04:38):
If they had given him.

Speaker 6 (04:39):
The raise next spring after Goodyear, I still think it's
a little early to give a guy raise. But okay,
at least we saw something he improved in his job
in the one year since he's been back. It just
went further south.

Speaker 5 (04:49):
Ye.

Speaker 3 (04:51):
Any five hundred participant Connor Daily admitted that during his
h during the Indy five hundred, because they had so
many caution laps and because it took so long, he
had to And I know you all are eating, so
I'll use the scientific term. He had to urinate on himself,
and he did that during the race. He actually said

(05:14):
he did it twice, said it's the first time it's
ever happened, and that he was embarrassed and worried that
if he won, when he got out it would be
what it would be. Do you you know we've always
wondered if that happened. He now admitted that he did,
and he said, you know, it made it uncomfortable for
a lot of the drive. But he also said he
did it not during caution, so when he was going

(05:37):
two hundred and thirty miles an hour, I mean when
it calls.

Speaker 6 (05:41):
You know. Now I can understand I wouldn't be as
worried in the moment whatever I'm driving, letting it go
might even be comfortable, but I would worry about getting
out of the car and having the mess. I would
quickly pour the milk all over them. I said, I
would demand that they hand me the milk through the
window before I get out.

Speaker 5 (05:55):
Of the car.

Speaker 4 (05:56):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (05:57):
I always wanted this, And I always assume they wore
depends undergarments or something, because you can't go that long
and not go. You when a guy's gotta go. A
guy can't go.

Speaker 4 (06:06):
You can't go three hours?

Speaker 1 (06:08):
Oh I can't. I can't go an hour. I usually
pee between the commercial break and this show break.

Speaker 4 (06:16):
Have you have you thought about getting that checked out?

Speaker 1 (06:18):
Yeah, I'm just I'm old. That just happens when you
get old, You'll.

Speaker 4 (06:20):
Put an hour is not very long.

Speaker 1 (06:24):
But for these guys to drive a car five hundred miles,
they got a plo themselves.

Speaker 4 (06:28):
All right, Well, that's well, it's good to see that.
He that he he confirmed that.

Speaker 3 (06:35):
I also saw a story McDonald's is saying they are
going to start going around and making minimum quality requirements
for all their restaurants. That there's been a complaint that McDonald's,
which is the thing they used to always sell, is
wherever you go, you get the same thing. That there
are is too much variance in quality from one McDonald's

(06:57):
to the other. Here's the reason I'm bringing this up.
This is one hundred percent correct. I've talked about this before,
but I'm very I want to be clear. The difference
in McDonald's here in Lexington is stark from one place
to other. Harrisburg Road, McDonald's very good, campus, McDonald's very bad.

Speaker 4 (07:19):
Lee's Town Road. McDonald's once one of the sterling McDonald's
in the country. Wayfalling them?

Speaker 5 (07:25):
Is that woman still in the draft room?

Speaker 4 (07:26):
Yes, worst McDonald's.

Speaker 3 (07:29):
She's nice, but worst McDonald's of all time. McDonald's next
to the Interstate on Newtown Pipe solid solid. McDonald's on
Richmond Road hit her, miss. McDonald's on for Sales Road
hit her miss. But I do I do respect the
idea of Ryan that we have to get the McDonald's

(07:51):
to one standard.

Speaker 1 (07:53):
Do you do expect when you go get McDonald's French
fries to be those really good, crispy salty.

Speaker 4 (07:58):
Harrisburg Roads is the best McDonald's.

Speaker 1 (08:00):
Oh, it's by far, like they it's the best in town.

Speaker 4 (08:02):
You think so?

Speaker 1 (08:03):
At least Town Road is the worst in town.

Speaker 4 (08:05):
And it used to be good.

Speaker 6 (08:06):
Yeah, it was a good when I lived over there.
It's not good anymore. It's well.

Speaker 4 (08:09):
I think that when you go to UK, I think
the campus one is it's bad. It's bad. It's bad.

Speaker 3 (08:15):
The campus one is is bad. But it's Shannan. There
shouldn't be this variance.

Speaker 4 (08:20):
You know.

Speaker 2 (08:20):
McDonald's was good at that. I thought that was like
the one thing that they were good at well.

Speaker 3 (08:23):
They said, the CEO acknowledged we have let this slip,
and they're gonna start having more regular inspections to make
sure all the McDonald's. And they said, if your McDonald's
is not up to their standard, they will pull the
arches from me.

Speaker 1 (08:37):
So does that mean you're gonna inspect the ice cream
machine and the milkshake machine that is down and broken
every single day?

Speaker 3 (08:43):
So because this is you know, there's nothing worse than
me pulling in wanting to get one of these these
large dot cokes and it come out flat and all that.

Speaker 4 (08:53):
So I'm glad to see they're doing.

Speaker 6 (08:55):
Uh, they're not the only one with this problem. I
drive past two Taco Bells to go to different Taco
bell I'm not kidding there too, within a mile of
my house.

Speaker 5 (09:04):
They are terrible. It's like they give you food from yesterday.

Speaker 6 (09:06):
And I go all the way over to Richmond Road
by the big Kroger to that one now.

Speaker 5 (09:10):
Because it hasn't let me down yet.

Speaker 6 (09:12):
I literally can look out my window and pass a
Taco Bell on my way to Taco Bell because it's
gotten so bad. Yeah, and that's the one on a
new Circle by Sam's Club.

Speaker 4 (09:21):
Totally understand them out.

Speaker 3 (09:22):
I would skip out if I went back when I
used to live on Lee's Town Road. I was like,
you know what, I'm boycotting you to drive all the
way to Harrisburg Road because you don't you don't do
and I don't want to call out these places, but
you know what those arches.

Speaker 4 (09:35):
Are as symbol.

Speaker 1 (09:37):
Yeah, live up to a high standard.

Speaker 4 (09:39):
They are a symbol of something sacred, high standard, and
you need to not not bring it down. Who's next, shit, Adam, Adam,
go ahead, that am.

Speaker 7 (09:50):
I There's a lot of things that can point to
the fall or decline of Kentucky football over the last
couple of years, inconsistency at the oct but I think
the number one reason is the decline of the offensive line.
And since Wolford took over in twenty twenty one, I mean,
it's just gotten steadily worse. We've only had four and

(10:11):
everybody talks about, well, he's a good recruiter. Really, we
have not signed a four star offensive lineman since twenty
twenty three, which was under Yinser, and the four that
we have signed since twenty twenty one, Jagger Burton is
the only one still on the team.

Speaker 4 (10:24):
Yeah, that's a good I mean, that's another point. You know.

Speaker 3 (10:27):
Part of the case for Wolford was how good his
recruiting was. But of those guys who's really panned out,
the only ones he's right, only only one still on
the team is Jagger, and Jaggers had his struggles.

Speaker 6 (10:39):
So but Matty gets he gets to the building first,
the first first coach in the building. No, how late
is everyone else that you get one hundred thousand dollars
raised for being there?

Speaker 4 (10:48):
Well, that's a good question. I mean I was just looking. Okay,
so we.

Speaker 3 (10:51):
Pay Vince is the highest paid tight end coach in America. Yes,
I'm okay with that because I do think the Fster
completely falls apart offense is gone.

Speaker 4 (11:04):
But I mean that's high. I'll free that's high.

Speaker 3 (11:08):
We have like the what is it, the twelfth or
tenth highest paid running back coach. Now, to be fair,
we've had good running backs, but the guy that's there
was not the running back coach.

Speaker 4 (11:17):
For a lot of that.

Speaker 5 (11:18):
Right, Yeah, he's special teams coach too.

Speaker 3 (11:20):
The guy who won't use an Australian punter after we
won the Now that's another thing that drives me crazy again.

Speaker 4 (11:28):
It's an example of stubbornness.

Speaker 3 (11:30):
We had the only Ray Guy Award winner in history
doing Australian punting. Sixty five percent of all teams in
college football are doing Australian punting, and ours like guys
like Australian punting.

Speaker 4 (11:44):
Stupid. I don't get it, do you know?

Speaker 1 (11:48):
Not at all? And the tobac of what that caller
was saying. Football nerds will point to when Wolford was
here the first time started to decline in the offensive line.
The neck kid didn't play, didn't develop any dip so
that next year, even after he left, they got even worse.
The two years he was in Alabama, they got worse
because of what he did when he was here.

Speaker 3 (12:06):
So let's let's not be one hundred percent negative. Let's
try to be positive for these young people out here,
like you, sir, for our youth. Now that I'm calling
you your youth too. Of all the gray beards, you're
the youngest.

Speaker 4 (12:18):
All right, Give me one thing to be optimistic about
for UK football in twenty twenty five.

Speaker 3 (12:27):
Give me the case of like I am hosting. I'm
replacing Christy Thomas for the day as the host of
the officially UK pregame show, and I gotta get everybody
pumped up.

Speaker 4 (12:39):
What am I saying, Drew Franklin, Oh boy, I.

Speaker 6 (12:44):
Would say there is a chance that Zach Calzada is
one of the better quarterbacks of the Stoops era, and
we won't know, so it takes a snap. But I
mean he did have the big win over Alabama when
he was an eight m Those highlights are pretty impressive.
That was several years ago and he's been incarnate were
another stop since. But there is tape of him playing
really good football in the SEC literal VHS tape because

(13:07):
it was years ago, but there is proof.

Speaker 5 (13:10):
That he can play in the tank.

Speaker 6 (13:12):
So you're I'm putting I'm gambling on the cows outa
hype even though it's a complete unknown right now.

Speaker 5 (13:19):
I would at least go that direction if I'm trying
to talk you out.

Speaker 1 (13:24):
Of the what six starters or so we got back,
four or five of them are on defense, so I
think they can build on that and I think replace
some guys that maybe were not giving their best effort
last year on defense. I think they've got some younger,
hungrier guys that are gonna step in, So my optimistic
pontent about the football team is the defense is gonna
be better. It's gonna be a lot of low scoring games,
maybe because I don't know we can score the points

(13:44):
on the other side, but our defense will be better.

Speaker 3 (13:46):
Okay, by the way, did you know that the Bills
are the hard knocks team, So presumably Maxwell Harriston, Dean Walker,
Ray Davis may get some national they may get some
national tech.

Speaker 5 (13:56):
All right.

Speaker 4 (13:57):
For me, if I'm gonna.

Speaker 3 (13:58):
Give a case for optimism, virtually all of the transfers
Day brought in, especially along the line of scrimmage produced.
These are not guys that like, maybe it'll work. It
has worked now. They did it on a smaller level.
But you actually have guys who have succeeded as opposed
to well, they didn't succeed, but they will here. So

(14:20):
if you want to sort of feel positive about it,
we do have a lot of guys who on one
level below this have had success.

Speaker 4 (14:28):
Shit, I mean, what's your positive.

Speaker 2 (14:29):
I want to double down on Drew's point, and I
would just you know, we were hyping somebody up. It's
got to be about how you word it. So I
just want to say we have the most experienced quarterback
in college football. All right, this guy's been through it.
He knows what it takes to win, and we've got
him as our leader this year, and that's why we're
gonna win.

Speaker 4 (14:48):
All right.

Speaker 3 (14:48):
I like it is there four straight, four straight to
you know things, and I think we've sold.

Speaker 6 (14:55):
I'll add if you point out how bad you were
last year, like Ty Bryant when he on here, was
very open about how bad the locker room is, and
they're at least saying it's changed. I would note we
were really terrible last year and we've fixed that. Like
we won't have guys getting hot dogs mid game this year.
You can count on that, all right.

Speaker 4 (15:12):
DraftKings, Timberwolves and Thunder Tonight.

Speaker 3 (15:14):
You bet five get three hundred dollars on your first
bet with Draft Kings Draft Kings Sportsbook. Can the Thunder
close out the series at home? There in eight and
a half point favorite.

Speaker 1 (15:23):
That's a lot of points Thunder wins. I don't know
if they can cover, but Thunders definitely win.

Speaker 4 (15:29):
Thunder definitely win. Yeah.

Speaker 6 (15:31):
I fill a slight bounce back for Randall and Edwards
because they were so bad, so they'll keep it closed.

Speaker 5 (15:35):
But they still lose, I'll say they cover.

Speaker 4 (15:37):
I'm gonna say.

Speaker 3 (15:40):
It's like all these games in this series, either the
Thunder win by twenty five or they lose a close game.
I think they probably win by twenty five. I'll take
the Thunder to move to the championship.

Speaker 5 (15:50):
I should note I'm over five on a las NBA bets,
so no one take that as the.

Speaker 3 (15:54):
Underpacers is going to be the lowest ranked, lowest rated
NBA Finals.

Speaker 4 (16:01):
I mean in a long time, Like in a long time.

Speaker 1 (16:06):
Halliburton's dad's back. May they'll add some spice to it.

Speaker 2 (16:09):
Yeah, he needs to go out and punch somebody in
the face after that, I.

Speaker 3 (16:12):
Mean it's gonna be You gotta remember this is the
first finals. Like like no Lebron, no Staff, no Yarnie
and and you know Shay Alexander, we love him, Tyre's Halliburton.
Like the average fan doesn't know who either one of
those guys is. I mean the average NBA fan doesn't,

(16:32):
But the average sports fan couldn't pick him out. I
mean he may have heard their name, but like it's
gonna be a very low rating.

Speaker 5 (16:39):
Halliburton was pretty amazing last night.

Speaker 1 (16:40):
He was incredible.

Speaker 4 (16:41):
He was great, like one turn triple doubles, no most
best triple double, no turnovers like ever in the history
of He shut up the overrated. We will take a
break right back water back Turkey Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (16:58):
Now there's uh all these people writing me with their
hometown McDonald's. All right, so I'm gonna give you the
ones that are getting a positive review. Corbin McDonald's okay, positive,
Winchester McDonald's positive negatives. Multiple people angry about the one
in Vanceburg. What's going on in Vanceburg?

Speaker 4 (17:22):
I don't know. I mean, I'm not I'm not advocating
one way.

Speaker 3 (17:26):
I'm just telling you I've gotten Vanceburg does not feel
like a town. I should have gotten three messages, so
I'm just I don't know what's happening. There also three
messages saying we need to improve the ones in Richmond.

Speaker 4 (17:41):
So there's your advice. If you're in Corbin or f
in Winchester thumbs up, we spent or in Vanceburg comes down.

Speaker 1 (17:51):
We spent the whole commercial break breaking down to our
local McDonald's and the pros and cons of all of them.
It's important to people.

Speaker 3 (17:56):
One person, writes Matt with Otaga making his decision, to
not what are the five biggest stay or go NBA
Draft decisions in Kentucky history? Number one, I think in
terms of the fan base, like waiting on edge, what
is gonna happen? Harrison Twins. I think the Harrison Twins

(18:18):
is the biggest we I mean, we went live on
the air for a special show yes with the Harrison Twins.
I don't think we've ever done that for anybody else.
I'm I'm pretty certain Harrison Twins is won. I think
Hamadu Diallo is a huge one. I mean people may
not remember it as much, but in that moment, that

(18:39):
was a massive one that again kind of waited till
the last minute and the last minute, you know, in
the Caliar a very few of these guys came back.
So when we waited, it usually was not for a
positive result.

Speaker 1 (18:51):
Jamal mcglore, yeah to mention that yesterday. Jam is one
of them.

Speaker 3 (18:56):
When you go back, he was one that people were
kind of on edge about.

Speaker 1 (19:01):
Oh Morris fact, sure.

Speaker 3 (19:04):
The facts because Tubby found the facts in his desk,
which is just the lie.

Speaker 4 (19:10):
I mean the lie, this lie ever lied. Okay, so those.

Speaker 1 (19:16):
Are that's a good four's.

Speaker 3 (19:17):
If we're gonna get a fifth anybody think of a
fifth one? That was particularly because again a lie with
the callum. They didn't come back. So I don't know.

Speaker 6 (19:25):
I remember when Terrence Jones came back, it was a
big deal in a surprise, but did it have the
like anticipation. I don't even remember how he announced.

Speaker 3 (19:31):
I think we all assumed he was leaving and then
all of a sudden he just said he was coming back.

Speaker 4 (19:35):
I don't I don't think there was like a big
wait for it.

Speaker 5 (19:39):
Remember with Willy.

Speaker 3 (19:41):
I mean with Willy, he just kind of said I'm
coming back, and there wasn't the.

Speaker 4 (19:47):
Dama. So I don't know.

Speaker 1 (19:48):
I mean, I know, it's just been a year ago.
But Jackson Robinson, we kind of waited on pens and
needles for him, knowing that he was kind of be
the actually.

Speaker 3 (19:54):
Piece, you know what. I like that one. I like
Jackson Robinson is the fifth one. Because I was refreshing
my phone in Italy trying to find out if he
was coming back.

Speaker 5 (20:07):
Didn't you do it?

Speaker 6 (20:07):
Wait announce the next day after the deadline, like he
did his paperwork and everything, but then he still waited
to make it public. So we needed to start. At
that point, we had so many unknowns about Pope. We
really wanted to make sure he had a guy who
could play.

Speaker 3 (20:20):
So, if you're gonna rank these, what Jackson Robinson fifth,
maybe Hamad fourth mcglore third, Randolph Morris second.

Speaker 1 (20:31):
I like that list Twins first. I like that list
a lot. Yeah. Yeah, it's gonna be hard to bump
one of those top five off the list right there,
because there were other guys like you know, Antoine Walker
and Ron Mercer and these guys that left early, but
you kind of knew they were going. You know, there
wasn't really that drama they're gonna come back or go.

Speaker 3 (20:48):
I will be shocked if somebody can give me one
that was bigger than the Harrison Twins. I mean, the
Harrison Twins was one of those where all of Lexington
was waiting to hear, right, so, I think you're gonna
have a hard time.

Speaker 1 (21:01):
You got the voiceover guy for I Heeart to make
special zingers for him.

Speaker 4 (21:05):
Yeah, yeah, we got the dude with the voice to say,
first they split a zyegoat, now they're splitting defenders. The
Harrison Twins are back, and.

Speaker 6 (21:14):
Even though Diallo's return, that team didn't have a ton
of success that we wanted. That whole day was very
anxious for Kentucky fans. I hit refresh on my computer
every second for like twelve hours.

Speaker 3 (21:25):
Because we didn't know how good Tyler Herro was gonna be.
And if and you gotta remember, Tyler Herro ended up
being a lot better than we thought. We thought if
we didn't have Diallo, we might not be good at all. Yeah,
and then Tyler Herro ended up being a lot better
than we imagine. Who's up next? Shit, Peanut, Peanut, go ahead, Peanut.

Speaker 7 (21:45):
Hey guys, I'm going good. I wondered.

Speaker 1 (21:49):
Uh, I saw the recruiting class ranking out the other
day Monday, I think in Kentucky dropped from second to six.

Speaker 7 (21:59):
How would they drop so forepots?

Speaker 4 (22:01):
And because they're including.

Speaker 3 (22:03):
In the recruiting rankings, they're now including transfers. And some
guys you know, came back to college or transferred, and
that's how the other schools rose. There were some guys
like like Houston when uh the kid the point guard
decided to come back, that that kind of changed the list.

Speaker 4 (22:21):
So that that's why I've got you.

Speaker 7 (22:24):
That's how Arkansas was second.

Speaker 3 (22:27):
Yeah, I mean I don't know about that. I mean,
Carter Knott. The only thing that changed for them is
Carter Knox came back. I'm not really sure how that.
Carter's fine, but I I would say Kentucky's group is
as good, if not better than Arkansas.

Speaker 4 (22:41):
That's we'll see. But I kind of think that's what
you did. That's what I wondered. Yeah, I appreciate the call,
but we also have Otaga and Garrison back as well.

Speaker 1 (22:50):
Florida is a team that loaded up again. Man, those
guys are testing the water and came back. Common came
back and they got Boogie Flann down.

Speaker 4 (22:56):
You know what to do?

Speaker 6 (22:56):
Is doing no I was even searching on Twitter for
him yesterday. It seems he's staying in. He put like
a on Instagram earlier this week, just pictures of him
in Arkansas uniform and no context. But I haven't seen
any official announcement.

Speaker 3 (23:09):
I feel like you would know. Mario, do you know
what a dude's doing? You think he's what stays in
the draft. Mario's got sources, he does. Mario has a
new podcast out you need to you need to check
it out. It's with the self proclaimed what's his name?
The Doctor of Black Love. Dude, I'm titled that.

Speaker 4 (23:29):
I'm listening to that on my way to McCreary County.
We'll be right back. It's KSR. TJ. Smith, personal injury
attorney called TJ.

Speaker 5 (23:36):
He'll make them.

Speaker 2 (23:37):
Pay Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.

Speaker 4 (23:41):
Here's Matt Jones, Welcome back.

Speaker 3 (23:43):
It is Kentucky Sports Radio eight pip nine two eight
twenty two eighty seven. Wings day here, folks coming in
from all over. A lot of people were picking Terrence
Jones for that, so I maybe that was closer than
I remember, because a lot of answers for Terrence Jones,
a lot of answers for Oscar too. But like I mean,
maybe maybe it was just me. I knew Oscar was

(24:04):
gonna come back. I don't think that was ever really.

Speaker 4 (24:08):
Well. I was in doubt, but then it kind of switched.

Speaker 3 (24:11):
Antonio Reeves, that's not a bad one because he maybe
tried to go back to Illinois State, which is really random.

Speaker 6 (24:18):
But I think that that was something that he considered.
He seemed to have a foot out the door. But
the h something with the transcripts or academics wasn't working.
I went back and looked at the archives for Terrence Jones.
The day before the deadline, he tweeted early in the
morning and that he's fifty to fifty and he woke
up from a long night of tossing and turning, so
he put that out there. We probably did wait till
the last minute. Yeah, And he tweeted later that night

(24:41):
that he was coming back.

Speaker 3 (24:42):
Maybe we should put that one over Jackson because he
was a big deal, because like we kind of thought,
that's the last piece to win in a title and
that ended up being true.

Speaker 6 (24:50):
Tweet he said, I'm coming back to win number eight
here at UK. My man, he called his shot.

Speaker 4 (24:54):
Yes, he did good. That's good, good stuff.

Speaker 3 (24:58):
We did our fourth episod out of the Matt Jones Show,
and it was with me and Drew and Billy and
we do did a new thing where Billy has to
pick the top ten news stories and.

Speaker 4 (25:07):
Then Drew and I comment on him.

Speaker 1 (25:09):
How'd that go?

Speaker 4 (25:10):
I you know.

Speaker 3 (25:12):
I mean, I'm biased because I was in it, but
I think it's really really good. I think Drew and
I just riffing on the news is pretty good. Billy
reading news stories is hilarious because what Billy thinks is
news is funny and then like for a guy doing
the news, he doesn't always have all the facts.

Speaker 4 (25:31):
And uh, I think people will really like it.

Speaker 3 (25:34):
It's the Matt Jones Show downloaded starting next week, it's
going to be called interrupted by Matt Jones.

Speaker 1 (25:41):
So none they weren't necessarily sports stories just through there
were no number one.

Speaker 3 (25:47):
Some political, some weird, some and then we get off track.
But it was not like it's not us making serious arguments.
It's us just discussing various things.

Speaker 4 (25:59):
I don't want to spoil it, but it is a
I think every if you liked Fade this, you will
like this probably equally is not more.

Speaker 6 (26:06):
I mentioned this before we did it, but it's im a.
It's almost like a game show. It's almost a sport
because I don't know what's going to be said. There's
some stories I knew nothing about, but the MIC's on,
you got to give your initial thoughts, so it so
it turned into some wacky opinions and jokes about everything
going on.

Speaker 4 (26:21):
It was. There were some good wacky, uh wacky opinions.
It was. It was a lot of fun.

Speaker 3 (26:25):
So you really did a good job getting till he
did do a good job. You didn't have a lot
of notice, so he did a good job doing it.
Who's up next, Joe, Joe? Go ahead, Joe.

Speaker 5 (26:36):
Hey, I.

Speaker 7 (26:39):
Guess I guess I was.

Speaker 1 (26:41):
This is kind of on the spot, but it's for yeah,
I guess.

Speaker 7 (26:48):
I know you have your wings.

Speaker 1 (26:50):
I guess you feel like that of stuff.

Speaker 7 (26:52):
And if you.

Speaker 1 (26:54):
Ever want me to come by the bar, yeah, I
make my own.

Speaker 7 (26:58):
I saw.

Speaker 4 (27:00):
If you want me to bring it, uh for somebody
to try, just let me know.

Speaker 3 (27:07):
And okay, well yeah, I mean if you want to
bring it back, I'd love to try the hot sauce.
I mean, we can't sell it here because we don't
know you, but I mean we would, but I'll I'll
try somebody's hot sauce.

Speaker 1 (27:22):
Yeah, like I guess, like because I use like Thriller and.

Speaker 5 (27:27):
Reaper, like Peper and Gless Peppers, So.

Speaker 1 (27:30):
I know it's hot, but it's.

Speaker 3 (27:34):
Well, it sounds like it like it sounds good. Well, yeah,
come to just bring it by sometime. I appreciate it, sir.

Speaker 4 (27:40):
There you go. I mean, i I'll try most people's
hot sauce.

Speaker 5 (27:44):
You like hot sauce, Carolina Reapers stuff.

Speaker 3 (27:48):
Lexington was named by Forbes magazine one of the ten
best places to retire in America.

Speaker 4 (27:57):
Do you agree with that?

Speaker 3 (27:59):
Do you think Lexington is one of the ten best
places to retire in America? Conceivably you could retire here,
you know, depending on how things go anytime.

Speaker 1 (28:11):
I've always thought Lexing was a great place to live
and a great place to raise a family. I've never
thought of it as a great place to retire though.
One of the well.

Speaker 3 (28:19):
Apparently, you know, cost of living is less here than
other cities of this size around the country generally speaking, right,
health care good here compared because of the University of Kentucky.

Speaker 4 (28:35):
Healthcare is not.

Speaker 3 (28:36):
At the top of the list of best health care.

Speaker 6 (28:39):
But in theory it could be he's got time before
it retires to get that. It sounds like you don't agree.
You've lived here for thirty years, you don't think it's
a good place to retire.

Speaker 1 (28:48):
I guess I've never thought of it being a retirement place.
I always thought it, like I said, great place you're
going to retire Florida, Florida. Yeah, but do you probably
Orlando it's.

Speaker 3 (28:58):
The most expensive city in the you're gonna go live
in Orlando.

Speaker 5 (29:02):
When you retire.

Speaker 4 (29:03):
That sounds like it would be. Hell, we're probably gonna live.

Speaker 5 (29:08):
At the villages. Everybody rides around on golf carts.

Speaker 3 (29:11):
Did you see that video of the villages where they
were having a dance and all these old people were
taking their clothes off and stuff.

Speaker 4 (29:20):
Ma'am you can laugh.

Speaker 3 (29:22):
Go at some point google village's dance party.

Speaker 1 (29:28):
It is that address.

Speaker 4 (29:31):
It is a spectacle. No, I mean it's you would
be the youngest person there.

Speaker 1 (29:35):
Oh wow.

Speaker 3 (29:35):
And they are there's a band playing, and they are
getting down like I mean they are. There's bumping, there's grinding,
there's there's there's a lot happening. I could I actually
could see you there. It's a really expensive place to live.

Speaker 1 (29:54):
Yeah, I'll probably maybe be on the coast, probably out
of there land.

Speaker 4 (29:58):
That's good. I would say the coast might be even
more expensive.

Speaker 3 (30:01):
If you're talking about play, I would say the Florida
coast is not a cheap place to retire.

Speaker 6 (30:05):
Are you gonna own or go to like a community
because insurance there's outrageous, it is very high.

Speaker 1 (30:09):
I think I want to start Tampa Sports Radio and
we're gonna talk you know, all Tampa sports.

Speaker 3 (30:13):
And but you know, Tampa is probably more expensive than Lexington.

Speaker 1 (30:18):
I mean, oh yeah, definitely. So sounds like.

Speaker 5 (30:22):
You don't want to retire in Lexington.

Speaker 4 (30:24):
Why why why don't you want to be here? You
want to be where the sun is. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (30:28):
I always, you know, thought that would be the thing
that we I guess I've just never thought of. Lecton
has a great retirement place so well, according to Forbes,
Maxis Magazine says it is.

Speaker 4 (30:36):
To Forbes Magazine, it is. Who's up next? Let's go
to Allen? Allen? Go ahead, Allen, Hey, good morning, guys,
Good morning. I would have loved to see Jody Meeks
come back one more year.

Speaker 3 (30:51):
Yeah, I mean, if Jody Meeks is on that John
Wall team, that team never loses a game.

Speaker 4 (30:58):
You know, I think it would have been awesome.

Speaker 3 (30:59):
I mean, if you're Jody Meeks, you're probably thinking, look,
I can start my NBA career.

Speaker 4 (31:03):
Is cal gonna favor his guys over me?

Speaker 3 (31:06):
I mean I think there was and you know, I
think that was something that would happen sometimes with cal So.
But yes, if he had been on that team, I
don't think that.

Speaker 5 (31:14):
Team would have lost the game.

Speaker 3 (31:18):
I agree, appreciate the call Do you agree with that
if if Jody Meeks comes and plays with Wall Cousins
in Patterson, is that like the best Kentucky team of
all time?

Speaker 5 (31:27):
Yeah, because their only flaw was three point shooting. That's
what sent him home.

Speaker 6 (31:30):
And if you've got Meeks out there with Cousins and
Wall beside him, I mean, I think it's likes out
for everybody.

Speaker 3 (31:36):
I mean, as good as that team was, you do
have to remember major minutes were played on that team
by Darnell Dotson and Ramone Harris. And nothing against those guys,
but like they had to play major minutes on that team.
And if you replaced one of those guys with Joe,
if you played, if you replaced Darnell Dotson with Jody Meeks,

(31:57):
because Ramon was pretty good at defense. So if you
replace Darnell with Jody Meeks, like you got a team
that's a squad.

Speaker 1 (32:03):
And that's why, you know what, there was a lot
of anticipation about Jody Meeks the callers. You know, that's
not a bad choice for our list we're trying to
come up with, because but.

Speaker 4 (32:11):
He didn't pick, he didn't stay. So it's kind of
a bummer of a choice.

Speaker 1 (32:14):
It was a bummer of a choice.

Speaker 4 (32:15):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (32:16):
I don't know if it would have helped him.

Speaker 6 (32:18):
He was the second round pick, kind of late, had
like a fifteen year career, but it absolutely would have
helped Kentucky.

Speaker 4 (32:23):
Yeah, no doubt.

Speaker 3 (32:24):
Cornbreadhamp the Seltzers are out. They're gonna be sold right
here in this parking lot during Railbird. If you're at Railbirds,
you can come over, come to the bar, get get
some drinks or food, and get to cornbread Seltzer.

Speaker 4 (32:36):
They also will be at the golf course Friday.

Speaker 3 (32:38):
Yes, another reason, so another reason for everybody to just
you know, chill.

Speaker 6 (32:44):
I had several while grilling on Saturday exactly feeling real
good dot com. They got the gummies, they got the Seltzers.
By the way, on the scramble, if it rains and
we're still going, but we may move up the start
to twelve fifteen, so make sure you're there by twelve okay,
because we may move up to start because the rain
is supposed to be worse later in the night.

Speaker 4 (33:04):
So but we're going either way.

Speaker 3 (33:06):
But Cornbredhimp dot com check out the Seltzers, check out
Cornbread Hemp and use my code KSR. We'll take a break.
Come back final segment on Wednesday here at Kentucky Sports Radio.
Welcome Back final segment here Kentucky Sports Radio eight. I'm
nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven Matt Jones,
Ryan Lemon, and Drew Franklin. Otago Way has still eleven

(33:28):
fifty nine pm tonight to decide. He is working out
with the Brooklyn nets at uh well actually right now,
started at eleven o'clock this morning.

Speaker 5 (33:38):
Get it out of the way, so.

Speaker 3 (33:40):
He'll work it. He'll work out, and then he'll make
the decision. I'm surprised that none of you are even
a little bit concerned. You believe the rumors that he's
been hearing good stuff, are you?

Speaker 4 (33:50):
That's just you don't believe that at all.

Speaker 6 (33:52):
Pr move to drum up interests, get a good win
when he comes back for Pope in Kentucky.

Speaker 3 (33:57):
That's happened before. That has there There have been times
that this not this staff, but the previous staff would
have a recruiting thing that they knew they were gonna
get that. They would say a couple of days before,
act like it might be somebody else. So it gets
a lot of attention that that has happened. So that's
that's plausible.

Speaker 1 (34:15):
You know, you want him obviously to come back, but
you also want him to have good success during his
tryouts to help him for next year.

Speaker 3 (34:22):
Yeah, but how much is that gonna really matter? I mean,
by next year he'll be a different player, for better
or worse. I mean, right, I can't. I can't imagine
there's gonna be a team that goes next year. You know,
we'd be interested in no way. We haven't talked to
him in a year, but last year he looked really good.
I just I can at least get you on the radar.
You meet him, you have conversations with him, Like, so

(34:42):
what else is gonna do? If somebody wants to fly
into Brooklyn work out, he should absolutely do that. There's
nothing going on in like.

Speaker 1 (34:48):
She was in face meetings, and you're gonna meet and
find out about the guy.

Speaker 5 (34:50):
Man Y. You like free T shirts, they get the gear.

Speaker 1 (34:54):
Free swag.

Speaker 3 (34:54):
Okay, Shannon, these dudes are good. Think there's no chance
and you that he that he doesn't come back.

Speaker 2 (34:59):
You, Wow, there's no chance that he doesn't come back.
He's coming back for sure, all right.

Speaker 5 (35:04):
You guys, it's too much money.

Speaker 3 (35:06):
A lot of it is, and it is a lot
of money. I will say that is a lot of money.

Speaker 2 (35:10):
You gotta play the long game too. I mean, Brooklyn
could be the team next year that ends up drafting him.
So why would you not work out with him if
you have the chance to.

Speaker 4 (35:18):
Yeah, I agree.

Speaker 3 (35:19):
Okay, let's say he comes back, roster's done to you
go into June, July, August feeling.

Speaker 4 (35:28):
Hey, I'm excited. We're gonna be good next year.

Speaker 5 (35:31):
I have a lot of excitement if he comes back.
I already do.

Speaker 6 (35:35):
I think they'd be good if he didn't come back,
but uh, once they finalize it and he's on the roster,
I am very excited for next year.

Speaker 3 (35:42):
I think it's cool for the fan base too, to
have two guys that they know very well coming back.
You know, I just unfortunately in today's college basketball that
hasn't happened a lot. But with Garrison in no way
and he well even Noah right and Chandler. Yeah, four guys,
so they're gonna have They're gonna have four due to
the fans not only know but have really grown to embrace.

Speaker 4 (36:03):
I think that will help a lot with the season too.

Speaker 1 (36:06):
You asked him what we're gonna be excited in August September.
I'm excited right now. I mean, I think this team
is gonna get built the win. I expect a great
season next year with his team.

Speaker 6 (36:14):
We also don't have all the worries and uncertain these
people had of Pope last year. True, I mean he
may who knows what he'll be long term, but the
way he immediately won that Dude game, the Gonzaga game,
there's none of this that we had before, where those
you know you're losing the champions class comes back.

Speaker 4 (36:29):
Is he our best player?

Speaker 1 (36:33):
He may not be leading scorer, but he may be
the best player.

Speaker 4 (36:36):
So you don't you don't think he'll be the best player?

Speaker 1 (36:38):
I think yeah, I think you.

Speaker 4 (36:39):
Think don't think you'd be the leading scorer? Correct? What
about you?

Speaker 6 (36:43):
I think if Quainton's rehab goes well, it'll be hard
to be better than him. I think he can be
special if he's fully healthy.

Speaker 4 (36:48):
Will he be our leading scorer?

Speaker 6 (36:50):
I think Olway will still lead the team scoring. What
he did last year was pretty nuts, having double figures
in all but one or two games.

Speaker 3 (36:56):
Yeah, I think Jalen Low is going to be our
leading scorer. I think he's gonna think he's gonna take
a lot of shots. I didn't at the end of games.
It's probably gonna be in his hand a lot. I
don't know if that's gonna make him the best player
or not. I think the more likely scenario is, oh wait, because.

Speaker 1 (37:13):
Who was we are leading scorer last year?

Speaker 4 (37:16):
He was?

Speaker 3 (37:17):
Yeah, I think Jalen low that's just gonna that's now.
Quaintance is the best NBA talent, sure by far. But Chandon,
do you think who do you think is the best
player on this shot?

Speaker 2 (37:28):
I think it's a way. I think you know that
he's gonna be the guy that they build this team around.
And last year he was the most consistent player that
they had. I mean, he scored double digits.

Speaker 4 (37:38):
Almost every I don't want people sleeping on Jalen Lowe.
I think Jalen low is gonna be really really good.

Speaker 3 (37:44):
When I saw Jalen Lowe play a couple of times
when he was really good, and when he was really good,
he was the best dude on the floor by far.
Now he could be really bad dude like he could.
He could he could take terrible shots, and he could
but when he's if Pope can do just what he
said on this show, which is get him to play.

(38:06):
I don't like to use the phrase under control because
I think sometimes those guys need to be, you know, themselves,
but just to decide what's a good shot and what's
not a good shot. I think he's got a chance
to be really special.

Speaker 1 (38:19):
And you know, he's gonna get a lot of minutes,
so they need him to stay healthy. They're kind of
little thin at point guard actually with depth, So with
all the minutes he's gonna play, he's got to stay
on the flor and stay healthy.

Speaker 6 (38:27):
One of the things he does best is drive and
kick back outside. And if they have guys that are
knocking down shots, if Jasper pans out, Oway gets a
little better and Williams, if they're surrounding him with good
perimeter shooters, I think he'll have a very highest history.

Speaker 3 (38:39):
Most improved player on the team next year is gonna
be Colin Chandler. I think Colin Chandler is gonna be
really good. I think Colin Chandler's probably our six or
seventh man and comes in and you know, I think
he's gonna I think he's got a really good future.
I hope he gets to his future here. I'm a
little worried that it's gonna be crowded next year.

Speaker 4 (38:57):
But I think he's he is good to he's too athletic,
like he is really athletic, Pope.

Speaker 1 (39:01):
He told you during the interview. Players in his system
generally take a big leap in year two. I can see,
so I think he's thinking about that with Brandon Garrison in,
Collin Chandler, Trent and and uh Otega.

Speaker 4 (39:12):
Yeah, who's next? Go to t Trey, Go ahead, Tray, Matt.
What's going on? Good morning?

Speaker 7 (39:18):
Is the greatest fan base in the nation. Hey, I
just want to say we shouldn't be losing too much
sleep over this way decision.

Speaker 2 (39:24):
We got the most athletic team coming in and maybe
the dawn of time.

Speaker 4 (39:28):
I mean, it's gonna be a wow.

Speaker 3 (39:31):
I think you know, you know, Rall Cousins, pretty athletic.
Fox Monk Fox, Fox Monk Atlantic.

Speaker 4 (39:40):
You know, good point, Matt. But everybody's overlooking this mister
yellovish guy.

Speaker 6 (39:45):
I'm telling you he's the Croatian sensation. It's gonna be
a great year.

Speaker 1 (39:49):
Can you ask you a question?

Speaker 4 (39:50):
Got some myths on him. He's gonna let me ask
you a question.

Speaker 3 (39:53):
I'm asking this question because I do not know the answer.
I don't know if this is where the world comes
into sports. Marco Rubio announced yesterday that he is telling
embassies to suspend all student visas from international students starting now.
He didn't say how long it would be. But if

(40:14):
he does that, do we know. I appreciate to call
what happens with these it's tough with these foreign players.
I don't know the answer to this, but I saw
that story, and I would presume for a guy like Yeovich,
you's not here yet because you have to get a
visa pretty close to when you're going.

Speaker 4 (40:32):
I don't know exactly you don't you don't know.

Speaker 3 (40:37):
Yeah, I kind of am not sure if he can,
like unless that policy changes.

Speaker 6 (40:43):
Well, this smells funny because Marco Rubio is a Florida fan.
But is he doing this because he doesn't want us
to have yellow.

Speaker 3 (40:50):
When I would wonder about Marco Marco Rubio is last
year's Florida team had like guys from seven countries.

Speaker 4 (40:56):
So yeah, so I don't know.

Speaker 3 (40:58):
I saw that story and I'm memediately thought about yellovich
because yellowch is not here yet, and so I would
assume he needs to get a visa. And if they're
saying no visas are going to be processed at least
