This is Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.

Speaker 3 (00:33):
Now here's Matt Jones.

Speaker 4 (00:35):
Welcome everybody, Kentucky Sports Radio, Thursday, May the twenty ninth.
I've met Jones here at the KOs Bar and Grill
where you can come out have lunch. It's gonna be
a beautiful day today. Uh Tomorrow for KSR Golf scramble,
we'll see, but today is uh is beautiful? Before I well,
let me just do Clark's Puppy Shop fold lines A
five nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven, a

(00:56):
Vision Auto glass text machine seven seven two seven seven
four five two five four or this distion sponsored by
the t J Smith Office. You call TJ. I'll make
them pay. As we started the show here, I was
saying that I felt like you are not giving me
enough credit for the joke I made yesterday. I've had
it my hoster for almost a year, waiting for a

(01:16):
due Thero to go to the draft, so I could
say that now that Theerro has gone to the draft,
Arkansas had to bid him a dude. And I thought,
that's a great joke. And I and I and and
Shannon goes, oh, you like puns. That's a great joke.
I'll give it.

Speaker 5 (01:35):
I'll give it a five out of ten. It's not
it doesn't completely just bomb. It gets a little bit
of a laugh.

Speaker 4 (01:41):
I mean I would if you had responded, because you
tend to respond to my puns with other puns. I
was then gonna come and see uh arc and say, Arkansas,
their future is not as bride.

Speaker 6 (01:51):
See it was gonna be good. These were just gonna
be a whole thing. I'll let you down a big
opportunity there. We could have a good pun threat. Sean
had the best point.

Speaker 2 (01:58):
Well, yeah, I mean I said, if Ryan had made
that point or made that joke, you would CRUs there
are certain things on the show that if like we
say it, we get crushed by you.

Speaker 3 (02:06):
But then if you say it and you think it's okay.

Speaker 4 (02:08):
First of all, that's outrageous, and I think that you
I'm gonna I'm gonna channel Donald Trump. You are a
bad person for saying that to me. No, But when
Ryan does it, though, it's his jokes are sexual and creepy.
That's what makes it different. When he does it. Mine
is just a pun. I liked it.

Speaker 7 (02:28):
Oh that sounds like something Ryan Leon was say.

Speaker 4 (02:31):
Okay, well, but you can hear Mario is on with
us today. Ryan is a graduation as we speak. Josiah
uh is about to graduate from high school. I'm sure
he is just mere minutes drew away from babbling his
eyes out crying, and so hopefully, hopefully he's having a
good day.

Speaker 5 (02:49):
I bet he woke up crying. Actually, I saw photos
had a lot of family in looks like they went
to the Legends game last night. I bet Ryan's been
crying for twenty four hours. I saw we all made
it traffic. I went all the way around New Circle.
I went to the complete opposite side of town to
not even get near downtown.

Speaker 6 (03:03):
But did you have any I went outside my house
to get in my car and drive away, and there
were two kids smoking in my in my driveway.

Speaker 4 (03:12):
That's how I knew graduation was coming first. We I
didn't know that that. Uh, they didn't have robes. It
looked like to me maybe siblings of people going to
graduation and Shannon, they were just blatantly sitting in my
driveway smoking, about to walk to graduation.

Speaker 3 (03:28):
That sounds about right for the Highlands.

Speaker 4 (03:29):
That's what I was in the Islands. This lex, my
lexing place right next to row. They're just sitting there
just puffing on a cigarette, you know. Hey. And then
they like acted like when I got in the car
that I was bothering them. They're like, hey, smile, what
are you doing. I'm out here smoking? Like, can you
give a man some privacy? I gotta sit that.

Speaker 5 (03:49):
You can't smoking a stranger driveway? Nine am working to smoke?

Speaker 4 (03:52):
Where can you smoke? So, so, anyway, do you remember
your graduation?

Speaker 5 (03:57):
Not at all. I remember my high school when I
didn't attend my college when my graduation was fun.

Speaker 4 (04:01):
Yes, what about you? Did you win any awards? Were
you valedictorians?

Speaker 8 (04:05):
I was definitely not valedictorian, but yeah, I remember it
was cool with what my pretty fast.

Speaker 7 (04:09):
I expected to go by that fast, but it was cool.

Speaker 4 (04:12):
We at my high school graduation, for whatever reason, we
voted on the class song. Did you all have a
class song? Shannon? Did you have a class song?

Speaker 3 (04:22):
Like a prom song but not a class song?

Speaker 4 (04:25):
Well, we had a class song that people thought best
exemplified the class. There's zero chance Mario knows the song, Shannon.
You might David Ball when the thought of you catches
up with me, do you know that song?

Speaker 3 (04:38):
I'd have to hear that one.

Speaker 9 (04:39):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (04:40):
You can play at the next segment. But one of
my classmates at graduation got a guitar and sang it,
and he's a nice guy. But it wasn't the best rendition.
And you know how when somebody's singing slow and it's
not going really well, you still have to sit there
and take it. So every time I hear that song,
I think of him. It's about someone like breaking up

(05:03):
and dying. I didn't feel like it was a title,
didn't put a great class so, and you know the
class has gone from there. I've been very happy.

Speaker 5 (05:10):
So I had some Uh, we'll just say minor attendance
issues my senior year and I had so many hours
to make up to graduate. The day before graduation, I
worked a full shift with the custodians. I cleaned out
all the lockers, I put out the chairs.

Speaker 4 (05:22):
They made you work a full ship.

Speaker 5 (05:24):
Yeah, it was like mathematically impossible for me to go
to after school make up hours.

Speaker 4 (05:28):
So the janet. So you're a perfect example of how kids,
if you are graduating today, if you've been a failure,
don't work because you didn't go to class in high school.
You failed, okay, Gray, you failed English one oh one
how many times? Twice?

Speaker 5 (05:44):
So you took it three times. I don't call it failing.
I just call it wanting more English one on one.
Before I moved on to one o two, I'd missed
a few things. Simmy colan still not really sure how
those work.

Speaker 4 (05:54):
Nobody is nobody sure.

Speaker 3 (05:56):
And he turned out a writer, So I think that's yes, you.

Speaker 4 (05:58):
Ended up being a writer. So it just goes to
show follow your dream.

Speaker 5 (06:01):
My mom saw the professor that failed me in Kroger
one day and he asked what I do for a living,
and she said that, and she said he almost passed out.

Speaker 4 (06:08):
I couldn't believe it.

Speaker 5 (06:09):
Sorry, well, I might has time to figure it out.

Speaker 4 (06:12):
It's gonna be an ask anything Thursday with us. You know,
if you listened back in the day to the Fade
this podcast, or you listened to episode four of the
New Matt Jones Show interrupted by Matt Jones, you know
that it gets a little off the rails a little
bit when it's me and Drew and Mario's joining us here.

(06:32):
The big news today O take away back at Kentucky,
made his decision, came out, didn't make us wait all night,
came out about five o'clock yesterday, returning. He had a video.
Kind of interestingly, the video was in his old haircut,
which he hasn't had for about a month, which makes

(06:53):
me think he made that video. Well, I don't know
what that makes everyone think. But he's back. So let's
start with him being back. It's obviously huge news in
terms of returning. It's one of the biggest players to return.
How excited are you that he's back?

Speaker 5 (07:08):
Very excited. I never thought otherwise that he'd go somewhere else,
but it was still exciting to see the video he
put out The fans response. I was ready to put
it behind us and move on. As you said, he
didn't wait till midnight. You know, with the website, we're
sitting there constantly wait and talking about on the board.
I'm glad he got it out of the way. Well
it was still daylight, but it's huge piece. And now
we have the complete team. And when you just like

(07:29):
there's some graphics out there that show the entire fourteen
man roster, it is just crazy deep what Mark Pope built.
And I love you got a little bit of everything,
and you especially upgraded the defense. But with Oway coming back,
it just puts the final stamp on what I think
will be a Final four contender.

Speaker 4 (07:44):
They're loaded, Mari, they loaded, they loaded.

Speaker 8 (07:46):
Drew said it final four contender. I believe it, honestly
believe that they have a chance to make the Final four.
And like I said, you saw, you saw what Mark
Pope did with the group last year, a lot more
talented this year. Last year the best player got Inrew Jackson,
Robbins in the in the tournament. Now you have Otaga away,
you got Jasper Johnson, you got Jalen Lowe who's expected

(08:07):
to have a big year, I think Jaden Quainton's might
take some time for him to come back, but but
you still have a loaded roster. You can't forget about
Colin Chandler he's not talked about.

Speaker 4 (08:18):
Get Denzel Aberdeen and Mohammed Divan, and then you get
Brandon Garrison we haven't even mentioned yet, right, you get
all those guys and and this is now I think
Drew will be expectations. I mean, I think you know
Mark Pope in year one, it was really kind of like, well,
let's see what happens. We have no idea. I think

(08:39):
they probably outperformed. They outperformed what people thought would happen
in the non conference, maybe maybe slightly underperformed in the conference,
but then kind of got to where we hope thought
they'd be in the tournament. So it ended up I
think being a very positive year. He'll go into this
year though, with expectations. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (09:00):
I like he said his formula will be to retained players,
hit the portal and get a few talented freshmen. Heven
nailed that with retaining Garrison, Chandler, Noah and now o
Way and then of course we know what he did
with the freshman the transfer, so I love that he
had that plan that he said when he first got here,
and in his first full offseason of building a team,
he knailed exactly.

Speaker 4 (09:18):
I mean he returned four guys. He uh brings in
four new high school players or new players in terms
of Jasper Johnson, Malachi the hay Thorn, Haythorn, and then
the guy from Croatia has not been in college basketball either,
so I'm gonna take him as a new guy. So four,
four and then six transfers. You know, I kind of

(09:42):
think that that is kind of the recipe for college basketball.
Now you know that that mix. He got some veterans,
he got freshman. Yeah, because you have think about it
like going beyond this year. You have two guys in
no way in Chandler, nohen Chandler that might go another year, right,

(10:03):
these freshmen. I still think there's a world where Jasper
Johnson's one and done, But then there's a world where
he's back. So those four guys you could conceivably get back,
and then the six transfers are probably all gone. I
guess there's a world where Jaden Quainton's probably not though
he's probably gone, and so you got you keep some stability,
but then you bring in guys who can help you

(10:24):
on a one year basis. I love it. That's I
think how you got to build a program.

Speaker 5 (10:28):
I like the their weakness that he kind of learned
on the fly was just how tough the SEC is.
And then some of his transfers. You got one from
Florida that's known as a defender, and then do about
to shutting the way down to two points.

Speaker 4 (10:39):
He's got tough.

Speaker 5 (10:40):
Yeah, he went and checked those boxes too.

Speaker 4 (10:42):
So you, Mario, you're one of the you like end
up knowing all the players, like I mean, Mario was
already like texting them. They're they're playing two k last,
going to the getting haircuts and all this. So like,
now that you know all of them, I'm sure you know.

Speaker 10 (10:55):
Mo.

Speaker 4 (10:55):
Like, what what are you most excited about? I'm probably
probably Yeah. So you are much more into Jasper Johnson
then I think the average fan brings him up. Why
is that? I just think his qualities.

Speaker 8 (11:08):
Man, he has a game where it can help Kentucky
number one, and then he has a game that can
translate to the n b A. I mean, he he
can when the play's broken. Jasper Johnson is a player
that can can do.

Speaker 4 (11:20):
You think he can make? Do you think he can
do it? We've seen it with Rob Dillingham. We we
were a little bit.

Speaker 8 (11:25):
I know, I was a little skeptical with Rob Dillingham
when he got first.

Speaker 4 (11:28):
I was wondering.

Speaker 8 (11:28):
I was like, is he gonna be able to do
that at the college level? And we saw what he
could do, and I think Jasper Johnson, I think.

Speaker 4 (11:34):
The one person saying that, I think by by sec play,
Jasper Johnson starts, do you agree with me? Depends on
the team you're supposed to You're supposed to be on
my side here.

Speaker 7 (11:45):
You were supposed to be the one he can like,
I'm not gonna say he has the talent.

Speaker 4 (11:49):
Yeah, he I can definitely see him starting. I don't.

Speaker 7 (11:51):
I don't know.

Speaker 8 (11:51):
It's too early now to see to say.

Speaker 4 (11:57):
Then he could let these guys.

Speaker 8 (11:58):
Come and come and compete, you know, and everybody can
have opportunity to start. You got Colin Chandler, he may start,
Like who knows that? That's a good thing about having
a deep roster.

Speaker 4 (12:06):
So who would you if we went to Vegas through
and we said, okay, guaranteed to start, oh way, guaranteed
to start right, No way he doesn't start. Jalen Low
guarantees absolutely locked. Is Brandon Garrison guaranteed to start in November?

Speaker 5 (12:26):
I think that can change over time, but I don't
believe that Quaintons is gonna be ready day one. He
could be, but I see Quaintans is more stepping in
a little bit by it.

Speaker 6 (12:35):
So you feel like we have three spots locked and
low barring a miraculous quaintance, and then you're basically looking
at depending on whether you think, oh ways a two
or three.

Speaker 4 (12:44):
I think he's more for three, but whatever you want
to put him at the other spot of that other spots,
and then the four. I think those are the spots.
And the leader in the clubhouse at the four, Diabate
and the leader in the clubhouse at the two or
three he maybe Aberdeen, maybe Johnson, maybe even Chandler, depending
on how it goes. Is that how you look at it?

Speaker 5 (13:06):
At the two Aileen Aberdeen just because his experience. I
really think they'll all play similar minutes as the year
goes on. Pope's gonna use that bench, but I think
Aberdeen we'll be in the starting five, and diabat having
the starting five unless Yelovich just gets over here and
he's just something they didn't expect and he's even better. Well, dude,
do you think he was Like what do you think
he's such a mystery, because yeah, he looked at Big

(13:27):
Z's highlights and Croatian he looked awesome. He got here
and he had his moments, but he just couldn't guard
and getting a quaint into the game and just being
over here took him a while. I wonder if there
will be a little bit of a slow.

Speaker 4 (13:38):
Do you think he would have played better under Pope? Oh?

Speaker 5 (13:41):
Absolutely, Pope. Pope would have had him at the top
of the key passing and shooting threes.

Speaker 4 (13:45):
So this kid is this kid is accomplished more than
Zi has at this point.

Speaker 5 (13:49):
Yeah, he plays better program, he's farther ahead than Big Z.

Speaker 4 (13:52):
Better score. So yeah, well we'll see. I'm excited. What
about the ik His video had hair that suggested he
did it a month ago, pre recorded, I think, obviously,
But what does that mean.

Speaker 8 (14:03):
I think they made it just in case, you know,
maybe a social media's strategy.

Speaker 7 (14:08):
You make this video just in case you decided to
come back.

Speaker 4 (14:11):
Like the video is like I have to be here
blah blah blah, and he did it a month and
a half ago, and maybe, you know.

Speaker 5 (14:17):
I think all parties had a pretty good idea he'd
be back, and they're saying, let's go ahe and record one
of these to have it in the chamber that way,
because he's probably not coming straight back to Lexington from Brooklyn.
I don't know what he's got going on, but there's
nothing to do here. They probably said, let us have
this on file. Heck, he might have even recorded another
version too, just as big think he did.

Speaker 4 (14:35):
Also did yeah sh you that we also did the
goodbye video at the same time.

Speaker 2 (14:40):
No, I think he did just this video and knowing
that he was gonna come back. But he was smart
telling everybody that he's all in on the NBA draft process,
and then he knew he was gonna come back and
he had that video ready to go.

Speaker 4 (14:49):
Well, he's gonna be He's gonna be the fan favorite
next year. I mean we started to see if at
the end of the year, the way away away chance,
we're doing it next year, whether you all like it
or not. If I have to be the only one
yelling it, I'll be on the court and they'll tell
me to shut up. It's a good this is what
this is what we want. We want some guys to
come back. It's also an example of what NIL has

(15:12):
done to college basketball in a positive way. I'm gonna
make a case in a little bit later that I
think it has been immensely positive for college basketball. I
think yesterday was the perfect example of why. But great
news for Kentucky and exciting for the fans. When I
was in McCreary County yesterday, I said it, and everybody
gave a big ovation because they were excited about it.

(15:32):
It's ask Anything Thursday. I'm nine twenty two eighty seven.
You can ask anything you want. We got a crew
here that Ryan won't get under the table, so we'll answer.
I'm not saying we'll answer anything, but you can ask anything,
and we will take a break and be right back.
It's Kentucky Sports.

Speaker 6 (15:47):
Radio saying this at the They saying this at the graduations.

Speaker 4 (15:57):
It can happen on us time. That's how they. I've
always thought he sounds like he he's like got his
nose pitched shanded, don't you.

Speaker 2 (16:07):
Think yeah a little bit. I mean, there weren't any
other songs better than those one for.

Speaker 4 (16:11):
Your you know, we voted. Would would you like to
know what the two finalists were? Yes? Yeah, of course
I'm not see this. This is all you need to
know about Middlesbride.

Speaker 6 (16:22):
The two finalists, which all the class had to vote on,
was this or astro Creep three thousand.

Speaker 4 (16:28):
That robs on and we voted for this. I'd like
to have seen astro Creep three thousand, however, played at graduation.
That would have been interesting. Guy just sit there with
the guitar and he's sang this and it's really kind
of depressing. I'm not gonna lie to you.

Speaker 5 (16:43):
What about vitamin C graduation? The verb freshmen? You know
there's some that are more themed towards the graduation as.

Speaker 4 (16:50):
This is what we pinched. Okay. On the text machine,
one person writes, Matt, David Ball looks a lot like Shannon.

Speaker 3 (16:56):
Oh yeah, I look like.

Speaker 4 (17:00):
To be honest with you, I can kind of see
it if you look like David Ball. He's an older
version of Shannon. But can you do you know what
he looks like.

Speaker 5 (17:07):
I'll have to look it up to I don't have a.

Speaker 4 (17:08):
Fresh at What do you think, Mario? Can you see
it David.

Speaker 8 (17:12):
I see the older version Shannon with the cowboy hat.

Speaker 5 (17:16):
Not that I'm gonna defend Shannon on this one.

Speaker 3 (17:19):
I mean that look like every white guy.

Speaker 4 (17:21):
You look like every skinny white guy.

Speaker 5 (17:23):
We have a Shannon lookalike in the bowling league. Do
you I almost talk to him.

Speaker 4 (17:28):
White guy, skinny white guy. You look a little bit
like Walton Goggins.

Speaker 3 (17:33):
There's a lot of people, guy, So I speak that
as a compliment.

Speaker 5 (17:36):
Speak of our bowl league. Mario, your one o two
average I played last night. You're kind of kind of
bringing us down a little bit. Sorry, we gotta work
on that one o two average. I don't bowl often, man,
We noticed.

Speaker 4 (17:46):
Yeah, that makes it? Uh what Persson rights, Matt, There's
gonna be a lot of dudes that don't get on
the floor next year. Who's gonna be the person that's
expecting the most playing time that will end up getting
less than they expected. Well, that's a great question, but
I you know, Pope plays a lot of guys. I
mean you have to think Potter and Moreno and Haythorne

(18:12):
have come here not thinking they're gonna play a lot
next year. Would you agree with that?

Speaker 5 (18:17):
I think Moreno compared to what he thought when he
committed to what's now in front of him is probably
a lot different, but he seems he seems okay with it.
I think he'll be a longer term project.

Speaker 4 (18:27):
I feel like all these dudes are gonna play. The
one that I think has to really work to find
his role is Noah because it's not obvious to me
where he where he slots in. But I think until
Quainton's plays, he's gonna play. So then when Quainton's comes back,
which I think is gonna be in January, then he'll
have to make sure he still had But I think

(18:47):
he's gonna have a chance to find his role because
I think he's gonna play in November and December quite
a bit.

Speaker 8 (18:52):
I think that from the Guard perspective, it's gonna be
a challenge, Like it's gonna be a lot of these
guys are gonna have to compete for the Guard.

Speaker 4 (18:59):
Those aren't practices. Just imagine you're going low in Aberdeen
versus you know, Chandler and Jason Johnson every day, Like
that's gonna be that's gonna be a battle every single
day in practice, right.

Speaker 5 (19:14):
Yeah, And I worry about forward Noah, even if he
makes a big jump, it's just so crowded with talented guys.
I mean, maybe he steals some of their minutes, but
I wonder how much of just as far as playing
time goes, how much of a leap he'll get because
they're so crowded.

Speaker 4 (19:27):
Ask anything Thursday, who's up first? Shit? Max? Max?

Speaker 9 (19:31):
Go ahead, Max, it's your favorite player who came in
this all season?

Speaker 4 (19:36):
Who came in? Yeah, well, I assume you mean via transfer? Uh,
I don't. I mean, I don't know their personalities, but
I have to I think the player that was most important,
is it? Well, I think Jalen Lowe is the key
to the team. So I'm gonna say Jayalen Low's the key.
I think they'll get Mohammed Diabate is gonna be a
huge thing that we just didn't give enough credit to

(19:59):
in the moment, because I think he's gonna be the
kind of guy, Uh, Drew that can make your team
take it to another level. Appreciate the call.

Speaker 5 (20:06):
Yeah, when the question came up there, I was leaning him.
Or if Quaintance hits his full potential, he can be special.
I was watching his highlight reel on Twitter last night
from Arizona State, and he was just going coast to
coast and dunking on people's heads. I mean, if he
gets to that forum, or even better coming off that injury,
I think we're really looking at a top ten pick.

Speaker 4 (20:24):
Drew.

Speaker 8 (20:24):
Speaking of Quaintance, I've seen this on social media. I
don't know if he's true, but Quaintance they said that
Quaintance his hands were bigger than Shacks.

Speaker 7 (20:31):
I don't know if it's true. I don't know if
you got seen that.

Speaker 4 (20:33):
Do you just believe whatever you see on socio No?
I mean I see it and then the picture you
see something that said he was eight feet tall. No, no, no.

Speaker 7 (20:40):
His hands he was holding the ball, and I was like,
maybe he does have bigger heads.

Speaker 4 (20:43):
Show you ever have you ever been next to Shack.
I've never been to Shack. Like I want you to
think about the largest specimen you can think of, because
the thing about Shack is he's tall. But I've been
around tall people. But he is just so massive. I mean,
he's just everything about him is just massive. If he
has bigger hands in Shack, then let's just go ahead

(21:04):
and fake him the top three pick in the draft.
Because Shaq is the largest human being I have ever
been around.

Speaker 5 (21:11):
It by life, and I was trying to look at
any anything that suggests Mario's right. But you know, if
Mario believes it, I'll believe it.

Speaker 4 (21:19):
Channon, what do you think about the guy from Kentucky
the whole crypto kidnapping thing, if you've been following that
in New.

Speaker 3 (21:26):
York crypto kidnapping.

Speaker 4 (21:28):
So three guys apparently kidnapped. Was it someone they knew?

Speaker 5 (21:33):
I assume, so that someone with a lot of bitcoin?

Speaker 4 (21:35):
Yeah, there was someone they knew, and they basically kitt
allegedly kidnapped him and tortured him to try to get
him get him to give them their bitcoin password. Because
you know, again this is my whole thing about bitcoin.
It just encourages like DV and behavior because you know,
all you need is the password and you just take
all their stuff and there's nothing they can do. So

(21:56):
they kidnapped him. But here's the crazy part. One of
the guys is from Kentucky and I'm told again this
is allegedly has a house like in Livingston. So like Livingston,
what's the what counties? Livingston is just it's on the
interstate there, right, it's a what it's in Livingston County
that would make some sense.

Speaker 5 (22:16):
Well, in Kentucky we always do it backwards.

Speaker 4 (22:19):
But like so those of you listening in Livingston, there
was just a dude that lived in your town.

Speaker 7 (22:27):
Crypto King or something like Kentucky.

Speaker 4 (22:29):
Kentucky, who went to New York and was like torturing
And if you look at him, he just looks like
a normal guy. So he could have been at the
Livingston pickpack right one day and then he's crypto torturing
people the next day and.

Speaker 5 (22:42):
They were doing awful stuff to the guy they'd kidnapped,
trying to get out of him. I saw a news
story that said they believe he was a UK graduate too.
Oh really, because the company he used to work for said,
this is not the guy we knew when he worked.

Speaker 4 (22:54):
So this is just a UK graduate who lives in Livingston,
goes to the pit pack and he's torturing people.

Speaker 5 (23:01):
I guess you give me a little more to it,
but that's a good way to.

Speaker 4 (23:04):
Summarize, right.

Speaker 3 (23:05):
TJ Smith, personal injury attorney, Call TJ. He'll make them
pay now.

Speaker 2 (23:10):
More of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage here's
Matt Jones.

Speaker 4 (23:14):
We'ark them back here Kentucky Sports Bar and grill Ksbar.
If I'm nine two twenty twenty seven, come see us
for lunch. We'd love to say hi. If you haven't
heard by now, cornbread hemps and few seltzers are flying
off the shelves, and for good reason. Whether you're out
on the lake kicking back and a cookout or just
winding down. Winding down, they give Kentucky's best fun, hands down,

(23:35):
no boozer hangover. Uh you got those Walter watermelon, limeade,
peach ice tea. Go to cornbreadthimp dot com. It's cornbread hemp.
This is the good life. And remember there'll be cornbread
cornbread hemp seltzers out here in the parking lot for
real bird this weekend. So come on out and join us,
even if you don't park here, and we still we
haven't sold out for Saturday, and we may have a

(23:56):
couple for Sunday, but we haven't sold out for Saturday.
You can get parking tickets, not part like we're not
gonna give you a ticket. You can get you can
park here. But even if you don't park here, you
can walk in here. And get the the seltzer uh
and all the rest. If I'm nine two eight twenty
two eighty seven, you just showed me a picture of
Jaden Quainton's hands. Those are pretty big. I'm not gonna lie.

(24:18):
I don't know if they're bigger than Shacks. But that's
a big hand. Look at it. Basketball looks like a volleyball.
Look at that. I mean basketball volleyball, all right. And
you said there's an article that says his hands are big.
This is a year old. It's about his commitment Arizona State.
But it is SI dot com Sports. You know. They
used to say that Rondo's hands were too big to

(24:38):
shoot free throws. That like it screwed up his free throws.
Do you remember that?

Speaker 5 (24:42):
Believe that he does have gigantic cans. But but I'm
gonna start believing quaints Is are biggeran Shacks. Now I've
got Mario and SI dot Com, Sir.

Speaker 4 (24:50):
Livingston Shannon is in rock Castle County, continuing the trend
of Kentucky having counties and cities that are not the same.
So there's a Livingston County and a city of Livingston,
but the city of Livingston Shannon is not in Livingston County.

Speaker 3 (25:03):
I mean, why woul't you just move that over to
the county.

Speaker 4 (25:07):
They would be hard to move it, But yes, I
thought it was on I seventy five on my way home.
There's an exit for living the.

Speaker 3 (25:13):
Name it's changed the name of the place.

Speaker 2 (25:15):
What like, what county? What county is it in rock Castle?
Change to rock Castle.

Speaker 4 (25:22):
I grew up with double version of this.

Speaker 5 (25:25):
Madisonville is not in Madison County, and it's Hopkins County,
which doesn't have Hopkinsville. We have several examples of that.

Speaker 4 (25:31):
There's a ton of those around the state. I drove
through there past rock Castle County High School yesterday, which
has that big rocket out front. Down to McCreary County.
I'll give McCree County some credit. They got nice facilities
down their new turf field on their football field. They
got tennis courts that were a lot nicer than the
ones I played at at the thirtieth Street for the
Middlesborough High School tennis team. So big shout out to

(25:53):
McCree County. They had fetacini alfredo last night, Oh the
local pasta. Yes, r that it was very good diet.

Speaker 3 (26:03):
He made that the other night Yeah.

Speaker 4 (26:05):
Ryan said that he's on a diet and he's eating
Veta Genie Alfredo, which is like literally the worst thing. Uh,
the worst thing that you could eat. The Thunder make
it to the NBA Finals last night, shay, Uh gonna
have a chance to go for a title case and
Wallace as well. Series ended up kind of steaking. Uh
the Timberwolves, light and egg last night. Are you excited
to watch OKC in the finals? I am.

Speaker 5 (26:27):
I wanted some closer games in the series, even though
I was for the Thunder and just for entertainment last
night when they and when Minnesota had nine points in
the first quarter, I didn't even bother watching the rest
of the games. Like, if you're gonna score nine points
in an elimination game, I'm not gonna waste my time.

Speaker 4 (26:41):
Watch my Canes played well. That was That was a
good game last night. We lost this series by steaking
up game one and two. But so the season's over.
Finally broke the streak of never winning a game in
the conference finals. But bright future for my Canes. Did
you watch any of it? It was exciting? It was
It was a very exciting game.

Speaker 5 (26:59):
I catched the just the online clips I know it
is a big deal to I get swept, so at
least you got one.

Speaker 4 (27:06):
It's a big deal. You made it. You made it,
you know a lot of it, like a lot of you.
You people that don't even care. People are fans of
the other teams, like the Predators. You're like, well, you're
not even there, right, like like we at least made it,
you know what I mean. Good point. That is a
good point, Thank you very much. And then the Reds lost,
uh to Kansas City. Listen to this stat what are

(27:28):
you laughing at the Summervilley. It's just a roller coaster.
It's like the Tesla stock It's just up and down.
Are twenty two this year? When trailing going into the
seventh Inny, we have not come back once all year?

Speaker 3 (27:42):
Shitton, Why waste time playing well, no.

Speaker 4 (27:46):
No, going into the seventh. If we're losing after the sixth,
go home. Yeah, Like so last night we were losing
after six turn it off.

Speaker 3 (27:54):
It's good for you who likes to beat traffic. You
know the outcome of the game by the sixth inning.

Speaker 4 (27:58):
You can just we have to come back in one
game this year, not one. That's actually kind of pathetic.

Speaker 5 (28:03):
It also seems like every time you're about to get
above five hundred, it's like, Nope, we gotta stay just
at it or beneath it, because I think last night
would have put you over.

Speaker 4 (28:11):
I don't know. Far be it from me to challenge
the legend of Terry Francona. But we're just we're we
seem to call up a new dude that's five eight
every week, Like we got some guy named Connor Joe,
which sounds like a name name make up for you.
In MLB twenty twenty six, they had it. They just
signed a dude who got cut by the Rockies. The

(28:32):
Rockies are like the worst team in the history of baseball.
And then we went and signed one of the guys
and immediately started him like what is.

Speaker 5 (28:39):
The bad look? I don't need to know anything about him.
If the Rockies didn't want him here pace.

Speaker 4 (28:43):
One for nineteen since we called him.

Speaker 5 (28:45):
Up and you all thought, yeah, okay, we'll give him
an opportunity here.

Speaker 4 (28:48):
So that parts frustrating. Ask anything Thursday, who's up first
or again second? Whatever? Andy? Go ahead, Andy?

Speaker 11 (28:56):
Hey, what's up?

Speaker 4 (28:58):
Guys? Hey? Y?

Speaker 11 (28:59):
Last year was last year was late May Jackson Robinson
decision this year, oh way. I think next year Colin
Chandler is going to be that guy. He's thinking somebody.

Speaker 4 (29:12):
Else, you know. I think the decision we'll have to
see next year is does Connor Chandler. I don't know
that he'll be ready for the league. I think the
question will be like does he want to go be
the best player on another team or come back? But uh,
I'm I'm I'm big on Colin Chandler. He last year,
when he got to the point that he had to
start playing, that made it. I believe it.

Speaker 7 (29:34):
He had showed a lot of glimp he did.

Speaker 4 (29:36):
He was not scared. He was so scared at the
end of the year. But then as it went on,
I thought he didn't back away, and he can play.

Speaker 8 (29:43):
Defense athletic, can play defense confident like you saw what
he did in March Madness logo threes, like he's he
got it, he got I.

Speaker 4 (29:52):
Do think he can do it. I really do.

Speaker 5 (29:54):
He got tiring hearing about how he was on his mission.
We're like, okay, we know, but if you really think
about that, to take two years off and go to
El Salvador, of course it's gonna take you a little
while to get going. I don't care who you are,
and then by February March he looked like a completely
different player. So if he just continues that climb, I'm
expecting a big sophomore year. When the caller ass who
were most excited about if we hadn't limited just to

(30:15):
the transfers, my answer would have been Colin Chandler. I
think he's gonna have a big year.

Speaker 4 (30:18):
You know, you and I appreciate the call. Andy, good
to hear from you. You and I both have seen
the Book of Mormon twice. You know, I always think
about that moment for Mormons, Shannon. Do you know what
they when they're eighteen, they get like, go in a
room and they tell them where they're gonna spend the
next two years of their life.

Speaker 3 (30:34):
Yeah, could you imagine?

Speaker 4 (30:36):
Can you imagine what that's like? You walk into a room,
they go, Okay, one of you, somebody next to you
is gonna you're gonna live with for two straight years,
and we could send you anywhere in the world. Here
we go and like you could. I mean, that's got
to be crazy. You could literally go from anywhere from
New York City to you know, Senegal, and you you

(30:59):
have no no idea where you're gonna go.

Speaker 3 (31:02):
Just be in that room going. Please don't say Kansas.
Please don't say Kansas.

Speaker 5 (31:05):
What about Orlando?

Speaker 3 (31:07):
Orlando in that show?

Speaker 4 (31:11):
Orlando is his dream? That would be I would much
prefer to go to the other places. But what that's
got to be I've talked about before the two. I
don't know that there would have been anything I can
conceive of that would have made me more nervous than
the Vietnam War draft. We talked about on this before,

(31:32):
and if you look it up, you can watch this, Mario.
You may not even know this.

Speaker 7 (31:36):
They would just from the draft. They would just pull anybody,
isn't that right?

Speaker 4 (31:39):
Yeah? But they did it on national TV, and they
did it by birthday, So they put all three hundred
and sixty five birthdays into a thing. And their order
was if you were let's say eighteen to twenty three
or whatever the ache was, they were like, start with
number one, and we are ordering the birthdays. And it
was live on TV, and first number drawn out, you

(32:01):
were number one, and you knew you were going to war,
you knew, and basically, we're gonna go through the draft
through these birthdays, and so you had to sit there
and your birthday could come up. I mean, can you
think about imagine watching that on watch it?

Speaker 5 (32:14):
I would have just just send me a letter, let
me know. I couldn't sit there and watch.

Speaker 4 (32:18):
Them, like you're sitting there watching the lottery, and you know,
if you come anywhere from like one to one hundred,
chances are you're going to Vietnam. And if you're three
sixty five you're probably fine.

Speaker 2 (32:31):
I think I would watch it, but I mean that
would be they talk about stressful.

Speaker 4 (32:35):
And then if you come up in your number six,
you just have to look at everybody and.

Speaker 5 (32:40):
Be like, oh yeah, I hope to see you again.

Speaker 3 (32:44):
I'd rather see it there though, than it didn get
a letter, you know.

Speaker 5 (32:47):
Didn't have a host.

Speaker 2 (32:49):
Oh yeah, yeah, I think of Steve Harvey.

Speaker 4 (32:54):
I'm just kidding. No, but that video is on YouTube.
Turn it on to them. It's it's absolutely crazy. Who's next, Derek? Derek,
go ahead, ask anything Thursday.

Speaker 9 (33:05):
Hey, guys, what's up?

Speaker 4 (33:06):
What's going on?

Speaker 9 (33:07):
I've got a I've got.

Speaker 10 (33:09):
A question and a show recommendation.

Speaker 9 (33:11):
Okay, my question, my question.

Speaker 10 (33:14):
Is is there any chance that there's going to be
a second season for Wrestlers too, and then my old
recommendation is Blackbird on Apple TV.

Speaker 1 (33:28):
A truth.

Speaker 4 (33:30):
Yeah, I've seen the first season. I liked it. Are
is there more than one season? I've seen the first one?

Speaker 10 (33:35):
No? No, just one season.

Speaker 4 (33:37):
Yeah, I liked it. I thought it was good. You know,
it's a death penalty thing, and uh I liked it.
I'm right in that the death Penalty show. Uh, yes, yes,
I liked it. Yeah. So oddly we I would think
it's unlikely we get a season two of Wrestlers, but
it hasn't actually been officially canceled. I was on the

(34:00):
Olmonnie Jones podcast saying, like, you know, we didn't get
a season two, and then one of the producers was like, well,
we haven't not gotten the season two. They're like, normally
they tell you, no, they just haven't told us anything
because they're putting up. But I mean, it's been three years,
but you do get an official the cancelation, and we
haven't yet. So I'm not expecting that we'll get another one.
I don't. I'm not the majority owner anymore, so I

(34:22):
don't know. I'm the minority owner now, so we who
knows how that would play out, but we don't know yet.

Speaker 5 (34:27):
Well, now if they're interested, you you have the Cash
Daniel angle. They could play up. Yeah, Cash looks like
he's killing it.

Speaker 4 (34:33):
Cash. I appreciate the call. I don't know. I mean, Shon,
you're there. Yeah, Ash is killing it, isn't he so far? Yeah? Yeah,
he's doing great. He's doing great. He's traveling. We're going
to have some shows around the state. He's going to
be out there doing his thing.

Speaker 5 (34:46):
I just see what he's posted on social media. But
it just looks like he was born for that.

Speaker 4 (34:50):
I mean, this is what he was born. If he
if he works, he's got to work hard. But if
he works hard and he focuses, he can make it.
Like he's got the look, he's got the ability to talk,
he's learning. He could make it if if he puts
in the time. You got a built in fan base
that most of those guys don't have. In that spots
exactly right eight nine eight zero twenty two eighty seven.

(35:12):
One person writes, Matt, I don't think Shannon looks like
David Ball, but I do think he looks like the
mister Rogers guy. But I also think that's mean. So
tell Shannon, I'm sorry even though I had to say it.

Speaker 2 (35:24):
Okay, Yeah, I don't accept your apologies. You still say it,
You're still you still know what you're doing.

Speaker 4 (35:30):
Yeah, that was me. We'll take a break, be right back.
Let's Kentucky Sports Radio. This is the graduation song. Congrats
to Josie Lemon, who's graduating as we speaking. Congrats all
the people graduating at Uperena today. All the high schools
in Lexington will be there, so everybody be safe trying
to get around. But congrats to to all of them.

(35:53):
The crypto Livingston Crypto. It's Livingston County, not Livingston City.
As Richie Farmer reminds me, Livingston City is Exit forty nine,
where they have a very famous gas station, the forty
nine er. I might say, if you're going south on
seventy five, stop at the forty nine ers. Sometimes it's
like you're going back in time a little bit, right,

(36:15):
Like you don't see a lot of those kind of
gas stations anymore. Just trust me. Just sometime I don't
stop a lot because the usually go on to London
or Corman. Sometime, Mario, I'm gonna take you to the
forty nine er.

Speaker 5 (36:25):
I'm looking forward through.

Speaker 4 (36:26):
Yeah, I don't think you are now Livingston County. The
crypto guy he lived in a six bedroom, ten bathroom
housethom Why would you need ten bathrooms?

Speaker 5 (36:38):
I don't even like cleaning the two that I have.

Speaker 4 (36:40):
No, I mean, if you only have six bedrooms, is
there like a is there a number one and the
number two bathroom for everyone? Like ten? Normally there's more
bathroom bedrooms than bathrooms in the house.

Speaker 3 (36:52):
I would think, so, six.

Speaker 4 (36:54):
Bedroom, ten bathroom. It's in Smithland, Kentucky, ten thousand, six
hundred square feet picture. Look at this picture this house
is in like look at that. Oh wow. Now here's
what's crazy. You buy this house in Lexington in chevy Chase,

(37:15):
it's like a three bedroom. This is a mansion, and
it's one point five million dollars, like, which is a
ton of money. But this house in Lexington four five
million dollars.

Speaker 5 (37:28):
Probably yeah, maybe more depending where it is.

Speaker 4 (37:31):
Look at that house. It's incredible. I mean he's got
stained glass. Like folks go to Zillo. I mean, look,
there's nothing wrong with saying a Zilo address, isn't there.

Speaker 3 (37:42):
No, it's public, it's public.

Speaker 4 (37:44):
One oh one Court Street, Smithland, live on Court Street,
one on one. He's gonna be in Court Alt one
on one Court Street, Smithland, Kentucky. And look at this house.
Can you believe this house is in Livingston? And I
mean look at that staircase. It's got two sides. I
won't even know which side to go up. Wow, look

(38:06):
at that he's living good. He's not living he's in
prison right now. I don't think he's living.

Speaker 2 (38:13):
Big adjustment yeah himself, yes, only not even one bathroom.

Speaker 5 (38:18):
Greed is the obvious answer. But how do you have
that house and doing well according to reports and you
feel like you need to hold a guy with his
chainsaw for two weeks?

Speaker 4 (38:26):
See, I'm like that there's an amount of money where
like just stop.

Speaker 5 (38:35):
You know you have two staircases in the same spot.

Speaker 4 (38:38):
Man. I want to say that to Elon Musk all
the time. Dude, just chill right, like just like, don't
you want to have fun? Like why are you? Don't
you just want to enjoy your life.

Speaker 5 (38:49):
At some point and some people want to accomplish more
crypto king chainsaw to guy like that was unnecessary. You
didn't have to. That was part of the tortriot.

Speaker 4 (38:58):
But like you. You're good.

Speaker 5 (38:59):
You don't have to or do this. Just go back
to smith Smithland and live in your big court rooms.

Speaker 4 (39:05):
Six ten bathrooms. I don't understand the ten bathrooms. I
mean there aren't ten bathrooms in the White House.

Speaker 3 (39:14):
We only have one bathroom in this station.

Speaker 4 (39:20):
Ten bathrooms. All right, go ahead, bill, Bill, go ahead,
Bill five nine even Good.

Speaker 9 (39:27):
Morning, guys, good morning. Uh yeah. Going to the graduation stories,
Drew story reminded me of my own. Uh, I graduated,
of course. I have my mother and father and my
only living grandparents, my grandmother.

Speaker 4 (39:44):
You know.

Speaker 9 (39:44):
Back this is the early eighties. They give you that
booklet looking thing, you know. Then you have to go
to your home room to get the actual diploma. Back then.
So we go through these doors and the wings, uh,
where my homeroom was, and I and the guys in
the my homeroom teachers standing there. He's a science geek.

(40:05):
I played ball and everything. Everybody else knew me, but
he didn't or he knew me to him.

Speaker 4 (40:10):
Well, that's probably If the point is that you got
in trouble, it's probably because you were calling the teachers
science geeks. You're not really supposed to do that.

Speaker 9 (40:18):
Well, no, I didn't get in trouble. I go down
there to get my diploma with him, and they followed
me down there, and he's like, you can't get out
this way. You can't get out this way. I said, well,
I'm here for my diploma. He's like, who are you?
He said, well, I hadn't seen you since the first
two days in school.

Speaker 4 (40:35):
Well there you go. You're lucky. You got it. It
sounds like to me, well, yeah.

Speaker 9 (40:40):
I got it. I was like, well, you get to
see me my last day here too. But I also
want to say, uh, real quick, uh, you know who's
gained the most with this Okaya deal is a stoops
and waffer. It's to flex it off. What they did
with that that rate, Well.

Speaker 4 (40:55):
That's actually probably true. I will say to you about that.
I appreciate the call. I got more common the Again,
it's a symbolic thing. It's one hundred thousand dollars. But
people Mario were mad about it. They are mad that
this terrible performance with the offensive line led to a raise.
I mean, people are genuinely upset about that. Yeah, I don't.

Speaker 8 (41:17):
I hate to see it. You know, it doesn't make sense.
You give somebody a raise and they're not producing. You know,
usually it's no, they're negative produced, negative produce.

Speaker 4 (41:25):
The quarterback quit. I'm gonna continue saying that the quarterback
quit football he got beat.

Speaker 5 (41:30):
Up so much and one of his players with the
concession stand. It's both there.

Speaker 4 (41:32):
I mean they yes, we had a player go get
a hot dog. Any's uniform. Well, during the game, he
had his pads on, Shannon and he went and got
a hot dog.

Speaker 3 (41:43):
That's something you wouldn't even see a high school game.

Speaker 4 (41:45):
No, at McCreary County, they would tell you you can
do that stuff at Monticello, but you cannot do that
here at McCreary County.

Speaker 5 (41:55):
Yeah, you're right about it. It's one hundred thousand dollars.
I mean, that's a lot to all of us, but
with the UK's it's probably not that much. But just
the optics, like, who's the pr person over there that says,
maybe we shouldn't do this right now while everyone has
already upsetted us and him specifically.

Speaker 4 (42:11):
But when he said everybody wanted him.

Speaker 5 (42:14):
Really really first one in the building.

Speaker 4 (42:17):
Okay, fine, he's punctual. Well there you go, one of
these punctual. Then you know what, we'll have all of
our quarterbacks quit and get knocked out. At least he's
here on time. We'll be right back
