Welcome to our two of Kentucky Sports Radio present it
by Stockton Mortgage. Now here's Matt Jones welcome back.
Speaker 4 (01:05):
I remember two Kentucky Sports Radio eight five nine two
eight oh twenty two eighty seven. Text machine is seven
seven two seven seven four five two five four. I
was just telling Ryan I got another floater. These floaters
are the worst. Had one in my right eye, and
now I got one in my left eye. I guess
my left eye was lonely. It wanted something floating with it.
And two but it's made it. It may it's made
(01:26):
it to where. You know. I told you you I
had the one in my right eye, and after like
a month, your brain stops seeing.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
It, which is amazing.
Speaker 4 (01:33):
Like, well he used this example your nose. Yeah, like
you can see your nose, but your brain tunes it out.
So all of you can see your nose. But your
brain has too, has has learned to just ignore it.
So these floaters, the one I had on my right
eye for like a month, I could see it, but
over time it was there, but you just you don't
(01:56):
notice it. Yeah, now I got one on my left eye.
I do not. They say over time the same thing
will happen. But because the left one's there, now my
right one is reminding me, hey, I'm here too, you
see it. I've got two floaters and it looks like
I'm looking through glasses that need to be cleaned. And
there's really not a lot you could do about it. Uh,
you just got to hope your brain indoors it one day.
Speaker 5 (02:18):
Gotta stay symmetrical, you know, might help you out a
little bit. No, I mean it's clear my left eye
was lonely. It's like, oh, the right eye has a friend.
Speaker 3 (02:26):
I remember the last time you brought this up, the
ability to see your nose. I spent the rest of
the day just looking at my nose. I couldn't stop it.
So now that you reminded me of this again, here
we go again.
Speaker 4 (02:34):
Yeah. So if you yeah, now that you if you
start focusing on it, Mario'll start focusing on your nose
and you'll see your nose. Then, if you're not careful,
you'll see it for a while. Then at some point
your brain just tunes it out and you don't see
your nose. There's a lot of stuff like that, like
like your your your eye lashes. Sometimes if some people
(02:55):
their eyelashes, they can see and but your brain learns
ignore them the eyelashes, so it'll do hopefully it did
with my ride eye. They told me, eventually it'll stop,
you'll stop noticing it, and I did, but now now
I notice it because the other one's there and they're
both like, hey, we're a party now. So hopefully over
(03:17):
time I stopped noticing it as well. Just get that
catacc Yeah. They did say, like the only one way
to get rid of it is at some point to
have they suck all the jail out of here and
then they give you cataract surgery. And he was like,
one day you're going to have to have that. He
was like, your eyes, your prescriptions so bad. He's like,
but there's an argument that maybe you do it sooner
(03:38):
so that you get rid of because he was like,
these floaters are going to just keep coming back, because
he said, your prescription so bad that I don't know,
your eyes stretched and little things break.
Speaker 2 (03:47):
Off, So there's no way to stop him from coming.
Speaker 4 (03:50):
Now and he and it's not like anything happened. I
actually got the second one during this show yesterday. I
was standing here and I was like, what's happening And
then it was the exact same thing that it happened
to me a couple of years ago. When I got
the other one, and so you know, I immediately went
to the doctor because I was like, I know what
this is, and then they tested it. So there you go,
(04:10):
mister floater over here.
Speaker 2 (04:12):
Foa.
Speaker 4 (04:12):
If you get them, when you notice them like I
do now, it really is annoyed. It's really annoyed, says.
Speaker 2 (04:19):
You see them now in both eyes.
Speaker 4 (04:20):
Each Yeah, I mean, and they and they literally float
so like you can't even like they just move around,
and it's you know, it is what it is. If
you've never had one, well, if you've never had one,
it's hard to explain. And it's the worst in the light.
So like if it's not very like when the lights
are down and you can't really tell me about them
in this in the sun, you've had them, case yours.
Speaker 6 (04:42):
Go away, Well maybe my brain just ignored it.
Speaker 3 (04:45):
But I don't notice them now, but I notice like
if you look up, like if you're outside, you look
up in the sky, that's when I noticed them the most.
Speaker 4 (04:51):
I guess that's when it's the worst. Is in the sun. Yeah,
Like if you're in the sun and you look that
he's exactly right, a white background, that's when it's that's
when and it's the worst they stink. Hey, if I'm
nine two eight twenty two eighty seven, all right, couple,
you know we we have to do this every once
in a while. These like pieces of news about the
future of college sports. A bill has once again been
(05:13):
brought up to regulate college sports in Congress. The difference
with this one is this morning it was said that
this one would certainly pass the House. Okay, this is
a bill, I guess, but so there's pros and cons
to that. It would certainly pass the House. The House
had really not taken an interest in the in the
(05:35):
college sports, this one would passed the House. It's pretty
much all a Republican bill. The positive of that is
it will pass the House. The negative is it will
not pass the Senate because in the Senate you have
to have sixty votes on everything but the budget. So
without some Democrats it won't pass. Now do I now?
But if it passes the House, maybe they can alter
(05:55):
it in the Senate. We'll see. But from what again,
I have not read the bill, so I don't even
know how what it says. I don't know if it's
a good bill a bad bill. Who knows. But it
at least looks like there is a bill that is
poised to pass one of the houses. What this does
say to me, whether or not this specific bill passes
or not, is the peep Now that the budgets passed,
(06:20):
the people are saying regulating college sports the representatives is important.
And here's my view, it's gotta happen this year. We've
talked about this. It's got to happen this year. There's
a lot of momentum for it right now. The old
the old I guess what do you call it? System
(06:43):
that the judge approved, it's gonna get challenged and they
need a law to pass before that challenge. Right, So
they need to do this in the next year because
by next year they're all gonna be running for reelection.
They're not gonna care. This is a big time and
at least this is step one drew in getting some
regulation coming.
Speaker 5 (07:04):
So is this a stuff that's good for timing or
you mentioned that it's an.
Speaker 4 (07:10):
All Republican is a negative in it in whether this
specific one will pass, but it does say that there
is an appetite to do it. My guess is they
passed this. The Senate passes a bipartisan when and they
look at the House and say you gotta do this,
because that's probably what's gonna happen. But again, you never know,
but that's probably at some point. Also Donald Trump, you know,
(07:33):
he is popular in a lot of states where college
sports are big, right, and he's probably gonna say do it.
And when he says that, the Republicans do it. So
if the bipartisan bill passes, my guess is Trump will
say do it and then it'll probably get none.
Speaker 1 (07:49):
Nothing seems to happen, and watched it very fast, but
this one happens very slow.
Speaker 4 (07:52):
But yeah, this one's something.
Speaker 5 (07:54):
Another thing about the Kentucky guy kind of leading it
to Guthrie. I saw his name in the story I read.
Speaker 4 (07:59):
I didn't know he's in there was okay, well he's
in the he's head of that one committee, so that
would make sense. Second thing, the Big Twelve had their
media days yesterday. I found this very interesting. Six different
coaches in the Big Twelve came out in their press
conferences and affirmatively said we need to make athletes employees
(08:23):
so we can collectively bargain. Here's why I think that's interesting.
Some of these coaches were like Mike Gundy, who five
years ago was saying nobody should get any money, and
now he wants to make them employees. But he recognizes
something that if you listen to this show, I've been
saying for five years, you cannot have a salary cap
unless you make these guys employees and collectively bargain. It
(08:44):
is against the law to have a salary cap unless
you collectively bargain. I think these coaches are finally realizing it,
or someone's telling that to them, and now they're all
kind of saying, you know what, let's make these guys employees.
So I think that's what's gonna happen. I think within
the next three or four years, these athletes are gonna
be employees. They're gonna collectively bargain, and you can finally
(09:07):
get a salary cap that makes it more equitable. Fair
puts up doesn't make it to just where the richest
schools have the money. It's what is needed. But it's
interesting to me these coaches are now seeming to come around.
Speaker 1 (09:21):
This something's gonna happen sooner than later, because I mean,
that seems like that's the only answer to answer all
the questions everybody has on both sides.
Speaker 2 (09:28):
Do it this way.
Speaker 4 (09:28):
It's the only way to do it. Yeah, it's the
only way to do it. Legally. You cannot say, I
mean sports have a salary cap. Why because they collectively bargained.
iHeart does not have a salary cap. Why they don't
collect Like, until you collectively bargain, you cannot impose a
salary cap. This is the way to do it. And
(09:49):
I think these coaches drew one a salary cap because
they want to make it to where they don't have
to pay all these players zillion dollars.
Speaker 5 (09:55):
And now that we're hearing them all, be open about
it and send in front of the microphone. I'm sure
there are a few steps ahead of us behind the scene,
and I know it's here.
Speaker 4 (10:00):
When I saw Mike Gundy say it, who has been
like the slowest person on all this, I was like, well,
this is clearly their message. If Mike Gundy is saying it,
then clearly the message is we've got a collectively bark.
So I think that's actually very a positive. I think
that's a good stick. I found it interesting. Also a
big twelve they got rid of their preseason poll. That's
(10:22):
not nearly as some important playing paying players because last
year Arizona State was picked sixteenth in the poll that
they vote on yes, and this week coaches said, we're
not voting. And every conference has done that since the beginning
of time. Big twelve threw it out because they said
it hurt him so bad. So that's kind of a
unique thing because every conference does preseason poll. It's very
interesting that they're not going to do that. Finally, John
(10:42):
Caliperi did an interview which I thought was interesting. John
cal Perry says he's changing his recruiting philosophy.
Speaker 6 (10:48):
Shaitan Wow, Okay.
Speaker 4 (10:51):
He says, I used to always say that I only
wanted seven or eight players. I've changed my mind. Now
I'm gonna take twelve and develop guys genius.
Speaker 7 (11:05):
Wow.
Speaker 6 (11:06):
Why didn't he think of that a long time ago?
Speaker 4 (11:08):
I mean, how does that make you feel? After all
these years he's now like, you know what, I've had
a brilliant idea, Let's get some guys on the bench
and develop them.
Speaker 5 (11:20):
My brain is going back to that press conference after Oakland.
I think it was someone from the Harrow Leader asked
who He's gonna change his philosophy and he was like,
absolutely not. This is what I do I'm getting young freshmen,
I'm changing families, and I'm sitting there thinking, just please,
just a lot of us, just say say something. And
now a year and a half later, he's saying exactly
what we all wanted to hear. Then hey, by the way,
(11:41):
I predicted this too.
Speaker 4 (11:42):
I said he's gonna go to Arkansas, he's gonna change
some of the stuff he does, and we're gonna go
why didn't you just do that here? And this is
an example.
Speaker 5 (11:51):
I don't think he was capable of doing it here
because it would feel like he was kind of pressure.
Speaker 4 (11:55):
Yes, he started fresh, and.
Speaker 5 (11:57):
Now he's got a blank canvas and they're not gonna
push back or criticize anything. We would have been like finally,
But at Arkansas he could, he could do it a little.
Speaker 4 (12:04):
He would be like Negotia. Like like if you were
I don't know, a president and somebody negotiated a deal
that was the past president, you got rid of it,
then came up with the exact same deal and said,
you see what I come up with. That's exactly what
John cal Perry does.
Speaker 1 (12:19):
I don't believe him. I don't think he can do it.
I think you don't think he'll do it. I think
that's just coach speak. I don't think he can do it.
Speaker 2 (12:26):
We saw it.
Speaker 1 (12:26):
He's so stubborn and setting these ways about things like that.
I don't think he'll do it.
Speaker 4 (12:31):
Well, we'll see, he says, though he's now going to
take twelve players a year.
Speaker 2 (12:38):
A little something caught my throat.
Speaker 4 (12:40):
By the way, speaking of take go ahead.
Speaker 3 (12:42):
That's always been the knock against Caliperia though you know,
he just rolls the ball out there. He doesn't develop players,
And now you're hearing that committed to doing that.
Speaker 4 (12:50):
The other interesting thing, I don't know if people are realizing.
Do you know how many scholarships were they're in college
football last year per team eighty two or something eight
five eighty five. I don't think people realize that's starting now.
It's one hundred and twenty. Yeah, And I would say
(13:10):
to kids who are seniors in high school this year,
you couldn't have picked a better year to come to
get in Yep. Really, not only is nil happening, but
there are each school now has you know, thirty five
more scholarships and they got to use them on somebody.
This is the year to come out of high school
(13:31):
There are going to be more scholarships for kids coming
out of high school. I saw Central Florida already has
thirty seven commits for next year.
Speaker 2 (13:40):
Oh my goodness, thirty seven.
Speaker 4 (13:45):
So just be ready. There's going to be a ton
ton of kids who all of a sudden end up
getting college scholarships that never had before.
Speaker 1 (13:54):
All those kids that used to be preferred walk on,
Now they get a scholarship.
Speaker 4 (13:58):
And now you have a lot more chance to roll
the dice on somebody. All right, we'll throw this kid
a scholarship. See what happened. Does Josiah need to go
back to Douglas one more year?
Speaker 2 (14:07):
I wish he would wish a little freequition.
Speaker 4 (14:10):
Yeah, absolutely, Yeah, justin go ahead, justin.
Speaker 7 (14:16):
Hey, Matt, you guys were talking the other day about
which UK coach would make the best president, and he
listed Mark Pope as being the best option because he
was so smart. And you reminded me of the time
you guys were discussing who was smarter between Ryan and
Donald Trump, and I just wanted to say, only one
(14:38):
of those two has bankrupted a casino, and here's a hint,
it wasn't Ryan. Also, yesterday you commented on car Me
on the Bear, and you were wondering why he was
so sad all the time. I don't know. Maybe it's
because his brother just blew his brains out and then
his mother.
Speaker 4 (14:58):
That's very sad. But all those people were close to him,
and and Carmie is still the only one that seems
like he's insufferable at all times.
Speaker 7 (15:06):
Yeah. Well, and he was also mentally abused by a
former boss at his restaurant, and so.
Speaker 4 (15:12):
Was everybody in the restaurant injury and industry. But I
appreciate the call. It's still it's like, you know, he's
a lot. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (15:21):
I watched the cat Thing last night. Did you watch
it too?
Speaker 4 (15:25):
Was it good?
Speaker 2 (15:26):
It's really weird?
Speaker 5 (15:28):
Well, I would think so if it's a cat cult. Yeah,
I was a little let down. I don't know that
it needs to be homework.
Speaker 4 (15:33):
Did you like it?
Speaker 2 (15:33):
And I didn't really like him?
Speaker 4 (15:34):
Man?
Speaker 2 (15:36):
It does end in Columbia, Kentucky.
Speaker 4 (15:38):
Yeah, I'll skip it. KSR Listeners corn Bred Himp's Prime
Day sales this week from now until Friday, thirty percent

best deal they have, at least I know of all year.

cornbread hip dot com Prime thirty. If you've ever wanted
to try it thirty percent off it is cornbread himp.
We'll take a break right back, skis welcome back? Take
you Sports Radio eight five nine two twenty two eighty seven.
A couple op in lines. Do you think Ryan can
get this done tomorrow? Yep, yep. It feels like everybody's
(16:20):
gone from no one thought he could to now everyone
thinks he could.
Speaker 5 (16:24):
The Ryan Lemon sitting next to us right now is
not the Ryan Lemon that was here yesterday or the
day before one.
Speaker 4 (16:29):
Did you not think that we were gonna get that
amount of money?
Speaker 2 (16:32):
No way, not even closed. What did you think it
was gonna be five hundred dollars?
Speaker 4 (16:38):
See? I thought, I thought, I didn't know if we
get five thousand, but I thought we'd get a couple
of things.
Speaker 3 (16:44):
So you would have done the fact you wouldn't have
done it for five hundred, though, but you would have
done it for five thousand.
Speaker 6 (16:48):
Is that is that what you're saying.
Speaker 1 (16:49):
I still would have tried to get the five hundred
a little more motivation when it's five thousands.
Speaker 6 (16:53):
Of course.
Speaker 4 (16:54):
Yeah, well, I mean you should be it's going to
be uh, you know, it's it's gonna be good. But
by the way, I'm doing another interrupted by Matt Jones's
podcast this afternoon, So be watching for that tonight and
the airs tonight at six o'clock. What are the vibes
that you guys are hearing because I've heard a few,
(17:14):
But what are what are the vibes Drew You're hearing
around UK basketball as they continue to these workouts.
Speaker 5 (17:21):
I've actually heard a lot of the things about Colin Chandler,
which is part of my confidence, have you Yeah, So.
Speaker 4 (17:27):
It's not just like bravado, You've actually.
Speaker 5 (17:30):
I mean some of it is me just want to
be right because I thought this really the moment last
season ended that he has the potential. But now hearing
that it's looking good is just adding to my excitement.
Heard a lot of good things about Aberdeen too. I mean,
he's kind of kind of think we know he is
experienced guy coming in, can play defense, got a ring
on his finger, but I think he's even looked a
(17:50):
little better than some people expected in the few conversations
I've had and the freshman Hawthorne, this.
Speaker 4 (17:56):
Is more just heard anything about it.
Speaker 5 (17:57):
This, I haven't really heard anything, but this is just
why the clips that they put out and I know,
you know, you're playing five on five one team, he's
got to have bodies, but it looks like he's been
pretty active and being a big part of their scrimmage
is too.
Speaker 4 (18:09):
And the few clips we get, yeah, the I still
am to the point where I have to do the
thing Shannon where I have to figure out who's who. Yeah, yeah,
this is a hair team.
Speaker 5 (18:21):
Yesterday I had to pause it and it's because it's
kind of blurry.
Speaker 4 (18:24):
They have a lot of hair, a lot of hair.
There's a lot of hair, and so you know, I
have to sit there and go, Okay, which guy with
a lot of hair is that? But you know, you
get I've heard really really good things about Diabate and
about Aberdeen, which isn't a shock because those are two
older guys. But I've heard, like I've had people say
(18:46):
to me, you know how O Way last year kind
of became the fan favorite, even though maybe at the
start of the year, nobody would have projected that.
Speaker 2 (18:57):
Nobody did.
Speaker 4 (18:59):
I think that's kind of what I hear that Diabate
is going to be like here, well, you.
Speaker 1 (19:03):
Know, Diabatta and Aberdeen, two of the best dudes coming
back in the sec they both decided to come to Kentucky.
I mean that alone should make fans excited knowing they
got these guys and Otega maybe the other the third guy.
Speaker 2 (19:13):
Best in the essay, what do.
Speaker 4 (19:14):
You think about the fact that the first big game
of the years. I both love it and hate it.
Speaker 5 (19:22):
I hate it compared to how it's before the football
season or before the football football game.
Speaker 4 (19:27):
I like having it around.
Speaker 5 (19:28):
Christmas because we get to ruin Louisll's Christmas every year.
It's like our own little package to ourselves. We get
to just spoil Louisville's holiday. But it does just get
right to the point where our team.
Speaker 4 (19:37):
I like that.
Speaker 5 (19:38):
I'd prefer to be later this year, especially because they're
very unlikely to have acquaintance. In fact, I think Louisville
scheduled it because they're afraid of Jaden and Quaintin's. If
you're playing in Deciper, you're more likely to have him,
So I hate that. But I kind of with excitement
for this team if they were to just beat Louisville
right away.
Speaker 4 (19:52):
I mean, that would be a great start to the season.
Speaker 3 (19:54):
I don't like though, if you lose that, it's just, oh,
it puts a bad taste in your mouth to start
the season.
Speaker 4 (20:00):
I don't like it.
Speaker 2 (20:01):
I don't like it at all.
Speaker 4 (20:02):
I don't like it because I think it the Louisville game,
Like I feel like early in the year, I love
the Champions Classic early because it's a really good test,
but it doesn't really matter, right, Louivill game matters. The
Louisville game matters. So I like having it to where
you get this early season game against a good team.
(20:22):
You kind of get to see where you are. Last
year we beat Duke and it kind of got everybody excited.
At the same time, though, if you lose, okay, so
what right? Like it? Like like you move on with
Louisville that hangs over you even as it goes on
through the year. Right, So then let's say you beat
Michigan State and the Champions Classic the next week, which
(20:47):
is when it is. Then you go and you beat
Indiana and you go and you beat Gonzaga, you're still
gonna have the way you lost to Louisville. And so
I don't I like it in December because you've already
established who you are going into the Louisville game, and
it's not as you don't have as likely of a
random result. And I don't like the fact that, like
(21:07):
Louisville could beat us and it's a random result.
Speaker 2 (21:11):
I'm with you one hundred percent. I don't like it
at all.
Speaker 1 (21:14):
I would rather it be at noon on the December
twenty third, before Christmas, or that week between Christmas and
New Year's That's not the most great thing we like,
but I think it's much better than playing early in November.
Speaker 4 (21:23):
Well, you know you're going there. I mean you're playing
a true road game early in the year. I mean,
this is going to be probably Shanning your second game
of the season, maybe your third.
Speaker 3 (21:33):
Yeah, if they had to move it, I would have
liked to play it, like you know, maybe in mid February.
Speaker 4 (21:38):
Well, that's what I would to do. I mean, Louill's
playing Baylor in mid February. That's a non conference game. Yeah,
that's what I'd like to do. I've always believed that
you've heard me say this before. College basketball screws up
by not taking the first Saturday after the Super Bowl
with making it a power day of basketball, power day
(21:58):
of non conference games, the first Saturday after the Super
Bowl and just make it wild. And that's when Kentucky
should play little. They should schedule it where the biggest
rivalries in college basketball are that day. Duke Carolina play
that day, Kentucky Louisville play that day. Right, you con
Saint John's play that day. You know, rivalry. Just pick
(22:22):
it and then pick it for that first Saturday after
the Super.
Speaker 5 (22:25):
Yeah, for the for the rivalry in the game, it
needs more attention. No one outside of the rivalry is
really gonna care. I don't think at the beginning of
the season football will be.
Speaker 4 (22:34):
I mean, the only thing is that it is like
a Tuesday nine, So maybe there won't be anything that's
I think that's probably the art and this year specifically.
Speaker 5 (22:42):
In the past, obviously, Kentucky's dominated the basketball a little
more than the football. We won like seventeen out eighteen
or whatever it is. But this year, if you win
the basketball, then lose the football. And a few weeks later.
Louisville has the most recent victory and the bragging rights
for almost an entire year until you can avenge it
next season. So you goes basketball, you've always.
Speaker 4 (23:00):
Against the good teams. You go at Louisville Tuesday November eleven,
then you're in the Champions Classic Tuesday November eighteenth, and
then you got North Carolina on a Tuesday, December second,
and then Gonzaga on Saturday, December fifth. So by December fifth,
you're gonna have played four of the best teams you're
(23:20):
gonna play on the schedule. So you know, it's just
it's very front loaded. So you got to come out
of the gate ready to go. We'll take a break
right back, KOSR. TJ. Smith, personal injury attorney called TJ.
He'll make them pay.
Speaker 3 (23:34):
Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Speaker 6 (23:38):
Here's Matt Jones.
Speaker 4 (23:39):
Welcome back to Tucky Sports Radio. Text machine seven seven
two seven seven four five two five four. I was
about to go to the phones. I realized those people
hung up. Why you gotta quite, you gotta quit? Uh Draftkins.

the one I care about, yeah, is Alisha the Bomb
bomb Gardener, and she's going up against Jennifer Miranda. This
is all gonna happen Friday night. When you go on Netflix.
It's the first thing that pops up is their faces.
They're like, go punch.
Speaker 2 (24:18):

Speaker 4 (24:21):
That's what are you laughing at?
Speaker 1 (24:22):

(24:50):
the text machine, what person rates, Matt? Are you still
doing the fifty two books in a year, one book
a week. I am. I'm slightly behind. I guess I
should have by the calendar twenty seven right now, and
I think I'm at twenty two. But I'm off next week.
So I'll put four or five away next week. Yeah,
and then we'll be we'll be closer back to back
(25:11):
on schedule.
Speaker 2 (25:12):
You start going some Reds games, take your books with you,
ketchup on your.
Speaker 4 (25:14):
Read the Reds one yesterday, they're back. They gotta win
four more in a row to hit your four in
a row to go five and two. They were embarrassing
in those first couple of games against Marlins, but they
but they won yesterday. Andrew Rabbit made the All Star Game.
That's good.
Speaker 2 (25:28):
He's been awesome this year.
Speaker 4 (25:30):
Yeah, fat damon. He he made He made the All
Star Game. That's good. That's good. What you got a
lot of books ready for the vacation, and yeah, I'm reading.
Speaker 7 (25:41):
Well.
Speaker 4 (25:41):
I just finished a book called Colored Television. I just
finished Anthony Bourdain's first book. Oh, I've read all his books.
I was gonna read his second one. I'm reading a
book called The Vegan. Being a Vegan. It's like a
it's like a novel. Did the Bear get you in
the mood? For Bordaine? How the you know? Actually it
was more like, as we're doing these restaurant renovations, I
(26:02):
was like, you know what we should I should read
something by somebody who's ever run a restaurant, you know,
because we kind of skipped over that part when we started.
Speaker 5 (26:13):
Yeah, like how you I don't know, like how you
run a restaurant? Have you ever even been in the
back of a restaurant?
Speaker 4 (26:21):
No, I don't think so. I don't think so, you know.
I mean I never had like a dream of owning
a restaurant, But I will say this, it is so
much harder than you think to run one of those.
Like I have so much respect for people who that's
(26:42):
the industry they live in. Oh yes, I mean, first
of all making money from it. Your margins are so small,
so like everything has to go right. But then the chaos.
I mean, you all see the chaos of a game day,
a chaos bar. But I think I learned this from
Bordain's book, and I've even seen this from the people
that work there. They almost get addicted to the those
(27:05):
moments of when it is so busy and it is
just coming in and out and you're giving food and
it's just bam bam, bam, bam bam. I think they
get addicted to those moments, like it's almost like a high.
Like sure, it's like playing sports for people like they.
I know in our restaurant, the cooks and the managers
(27:27):
and the servers, they'd all rather be busy. They like
it less when it's not. And you would think it'd
be the opposite chain and you think if you were
a cook, you'd be like, I hope nobody's here. Yeah,
but they actually they're getting paid the same. But they actually,
I think enjoy ryan those moments where it's like the
energy's there.
Speaker 1 (27:45):
They get that buzz, that general and rush that they
thrive on in that business. So yeah, and the crazier
the better for them sometimes.
Speaker 4 (27:51):
And it's been the case at our restaurant that the
busier we are, the better the food is because I
think people just get in that zone and they start
they start rolling.
Speaker 5 (28:01):
So Boordain kind of talks about that, Yeah, you get
a little rhythm, get more going, start cheering, pumping each
other up.
Speaker 4 (28:07):
Yeah, and they do. They cheer like it's like a little.
You got the fries down over there. Yeah, yeah, I
won't put your sauce up in it. That's right. Come
run this food to table for you run it. Yeah.
So they get into and then you know, the servers,
when we're busy make a lot of money.
Speaker 2 (28:26):
Oh yes, when we're not.
Speaker 4 (28:27):
That's different. But when we're busy, they can take in
a massive amount of money.
Speaker 1 (28:30):
So they that's why they all want to work on
the weekends of a game day and they know they're
gonna make a lot of money that day.
Speaker 4 (28:35):
Yeah. I never understand the people that want to work
there and they're like, but I need my catter days off.
It's like, then, why do you want to work here?
Speaker 5 (28:41):
That was me and Malone's every Saturday Cat's playing like
that's the reason to work here is on the busy days.
Speaker 4 (28:47):
Let's go to Jake. What's up, Jake? Jake? All right,
you just wanted theoretically to call Joe in Philadelphia. Go ahead, Joe.
Speaker 7 (29:01):
Hey, guys, I knew when you put that go fund
me up, Shannon would be in his feelings. But what
do you think about this?
Speaker 4 (29:09):
You open it back up.
Speaker 2 (29:11):
It's always tough to.
Speaker 7 (29:12):
Do something on behalf of someone else. You put it
back up and half the money.
Speaker 4 (29:17):
Goes to Shannon.
Speaker 7 (29:18):
So now Ryan has that pressure that if another five.
Speaker 4 (29:21):
K comes in, why would Shannon get anything? No offense
like Shannon fifty miles h he's a boss. But Shannon
wat he got paid for that, and Shannon didn't share
it with Ryan.
Speaker 3 (29:38):
Ryan wasn't even there, Shan Ryan wasn't even there him
selfish Wow, all right.
Speaker 8 (29:44):
So yeah, that Shannon.
Speaker 2 (29:45):
I'm trying to get your money.
Speaker 3 (29:47):
I know I appreciate it, but I don't think Matt's
having any part of it.
Speaker 4 (29:50):
Yeah. One person rights here, you man, you earned that money.
I appreciate the call. Joe. One person writes, I'm kind
of tired of shannon complaint. Five thousand dollars was good money.
He should be confident enough in himself that the money
Ryde makes has no effect on the money he makes.
I don't like when Shannon wins. It happens too much.
Speaker 6 (30:11):
Oh please, I wasn't even whining. I was just saying
one thing is not like the other.
Speaker 4 (30:17):
Oh you're saying your accomplishment is more impressed.
Speaker 3 (30:19):
Of course it is. I could sit there and eat
ten donuts. I could do that, but could Ryan walk
fifty dolls?
Speaker 6 (30:25):
I don't think so.
Speaker 4 (30:27):
Yeah, Ryan couldn't have walked to fifteen.
Speaker 6 (30:29):
Point not a prod donuts, But I'm.
Speaker 4 (30:32):
Not confident you could eat the ten donuts.
Speaker 6 (30:35):
I am, but I'm not gonna do it. But I
could do it.
Speaker 4 (30:38):
Yeah, well, I he is kind of in his feelings.
Speaker 8 (30:42):
No, I'm just as soon as I put that thing
up and there were literally there was like five hundred
and fifty dollars in it in four minutes, I thought
we're gonna get a salty Shannon tomorrow.
Speaker 4 (30:55):
And then Shannon's got to sit there and watching tomorrow
as the cash lows in and the glaze goes down
his mouth.
Speaker 5 (31:05):
Should we you know, like mister Beast, he puts a
big pyramid of the cash right in front of him.
They have to look at it before they do their competition.
Should we have the money in front of Ryan and
Shannon make Shannon stare at him.
Speaker 4 (31:15):
No, I can't take all that money out in case
he doesn't do it and I have to retire.
Speaker 6 (31:19):
I've already collected.
Speaker 4 (31:21):
Otherwise, I would go get the five thousand dollars from
the bank and just put it in front of him
to look at it, but I have to be able
to send it back, and if I take it out,
I wouldn't be.
Speaker 1 (31:32):
Able to do I really think both stunts are very similar,
because I'm going to be in pain after the donuts
just as much as Shannon was in pain after his walk.
Speaker 2 (31:38):
I think they're both pretty similar.
Speaker 3 (31:39):
I could have walked fifty balls and eaten the ten
donuts while I was walking fifty balls.
Speaker 4 (31:43):
Was there any point when you did those fifty miles
that you thought about quitting? No?
Speaker 3 (31:47):
Never, No, it was more so about proving you wrong
than winning the five thousand dollars.
Speaker 4 (31:54):
You were my motivation. That's kind of wrong.
Speaker 2 (32:00):
I love you, but I love to make your own
Why is that.
Speaker 4 (32:02):
I know you do.
Speaker 3 (32:03):
Because you love to be right about everything, and if
I have control in a situation to make you.
Speaker 4 (32:10):
Wrong, that really makes you happy.
Speaker 6 (32:12):
It's a motivational factor for sure.
Speaker 4 (32:14):
Okay, that's it. That's that's good to know. For the future.
I want Shannon to do something, I just have to
make him think I'm wrong.
Speaker 6 (32:22):
That's right.
Speaker 4 (32:23):
That's interesting. Well, everybody's motivating. I've learned over the years
that is what motivates you. I knew that before Ryan
is motivated purely by money and by making people happy.
You like to make people happy, and you like to
make money. And then Drew, I think is motivated by
(32:44):
senses of accomplishment, by like you know what I'm saying,
Like you like to have a task, complete it and
be able to point out that that was a really
like successful task whatever whatever that task is.
Speaker 5 (33:00):
But if it's a small tasks like getting up in
the morning cough, that's what I put myself on the back.
Speaker 4 (33:04):
And then I think Mario is motivated by like people
saying they like something like when you do a video
like you you take comp like you love compliments and
I know this isn't this is a positive when people
it's still nice to see you have the glow when
(33:26):
someone comes up to you and says, I like what
you do, Like that makes you really happy, right exactly.
And Billy is motivated by just wanting to make everyone man,
whether it's members of the show, like he's just he
wants to you know.
Speaker 2 (33:46):
What about you? What motivates you?
Speaker 4 (33:52):
You know, at this point, just entertaining people like it
used to be building some like I really like the
fact that I built that website along with you know
other people from nothing Right built this show yep from nothing,
tried to build, you know, worked on rebuilding OVW. Right
(34:14):
Right wrote that book like all those things, like things
that ESPN. As much as I enjoy it, I don't
get that same sense of a compent because ESPN is
going to exist whether they're whether I'm there or not.
But building something from nothing and then watching it flourish.
Speaker 2 (34:31):
Is what I really The restaurant to kind of the.
Speaker 4 (34:33):
Same restaurant, yeah, I mean, but the but the website
to build that from nothing two being the biggest one
and really the last one left in the is that
is a great copy.
Speaker 1 (34:53):
I used to think what motivated you the most was
when people tried to tell you you can't do this, or.
Speaker 6 (34:56):
You well that's me, That's what I was saying.
Speaker 2 (34:58):
Yeah, I the same way about little thing.
Speaker 4 (35:02):
Yeah, but it was all It's always like a big picture.
That's why people say, well why would you When I
thought about running for senator? I always want to try
something new and build it to a success, And yeah,
if people tell you can't do it, that's part of it. Absolutely, yeah,
without question.
Speaker 5 (35:18):
And all of that motivation between all of us combined.
Mark Stoops has more on his pinky finger.
Speaker 4 (35:22):
Dude, he's gonna be so motive. What motivates him? Bourbon, Yeah, trouble.
I'm gonna leave that way for you. We'll take a
frank impact, OK, Sorr. Yeah that's all Ryan, This is
a record. That's all Ryan. That said that motivation and
(35:45):
percent run. Most people have the word remodel and they
think of stress contractors that goes to you prices that
change halfway, but not a State Renovations. They do it differently.
You get a full time designer who shops with you
to pick every detail, a project manager who keeps things
running smooth, and if you're not ready for a full remodel,
their Home Solutions program is perfect for refreshing your space,
(36:05):
new paint, flooring, trim, et cetera. Use my code KSR
and get half off your design agreement. A State Renovations
that's a State r e n os dot com renos
as in renovation a State Rehnos always say Renos, Well
it looks like Renos, but apparently it's Renos the state
(36:28):
State renos dot com KSR fans who will help you
remodel at a State renos dot com quickly let's do
our DraftKings pick of the day. You got the Reds
or they play play at five o'clock.
Speaker 2 (36:40):
Before off shore. I thought you won our picks.
Speaker 4 (36:44):
It's getting a little sassy here towards the end of
the show. What maybe I'm not rooting for you to
get this five thousand dollars to jerk Uh. They play
the Modelins at five o'clock because there's an Old Dominion
concert after.
Speaker 2 (36:54):
The game advertising this concert.
Speaker 4 (36:57):
Yeah, whose old Dominion is that country? Yeah?
Speaker 6 (37:00):
And the Reds don't lose on Old do menu?
Speaker 4 (37:02):
And dare they never lose? They're picking Nick Ladolo. They
are the favorite. Who you got?
Speaker 2 (37:08):
They played Marl Marlins, All Marlins, all in on the Marlins.
Speaker 4 (37:12):
Now Reds.
Speaker 5 (37:13):
Reds are gonna get back on track after the two
losses earlier this week.
Speaker 4 (37:16):
We're gonna take Marlo. I'm talking about.
Speaker 3 (37:22):
I'll take the Reds and I'll see that Ellie for
a home run is plus three twenty.
Speaker 4 (37:27):
I like it. Draft Kings Ellie plus three twenty home run.
I just made a Mario bet on DraftKings for him. Yeah,
you bet. Bronny Mope twenty points plus eight hundred. I
mean game tonight Yeahroys, but I'm doing it for Mario. Stop.
Speaker 5 (37:44):
Also a little Rob Dillingham at this afternoon over twenty points.
Speaker 4 (37:48):
You guess you gotta stop my Brody, Proddy, Ronnie and
Rob over twenty each. That that that stops? What person rightings? Matt?
I heard a story. What's that? I think motivate you
for everything? When you volunteered to work every radio station
and they said no, that's exactly right. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (38:03):
Again, it goes to like people tell you can't do something.
Speaker 4 (38:05):
Every radio station in Lexington and Louisville that does talk.
I volunteered and said I'll do a show for free.
They all said no, and then I said, well then
I'm gonna have to be all of you. And then
finally finally one said yes. A lot like two years
later but what was his name? Uh dude over here
at the station Cutlers on criss Cross criss Cross, he
(38:27):
told me you don't have a voice for radio. You're
not going to ever be able to do it, and.
Speaker 2 (38:32):
I, I mean, that's brutal.
Speaker 4 (38:35):
And would you like to know what I said? I
said to him. I was like, well, you don't have
talent and people listen to you.
Speaker 1 (38:45):
Yeah, if I remember the story correctly, didn't You used
to listen to his show and win contests or call in.
Speaker 4 (38:50):
It's the Turkey owner. I thought it was you. He
would call in and win every every contest because no
one else was listening. Yeah, he like won everything, and
they never seemed to notice it was him that time after,
because he was like, no one listens, so I'll call
in and I will win every con So he would
get like free dinner twice a week just from listening
the contest. Go to Sam, go ahead, Sam.
Speaker 7 (39:11):
Man, I got the solution. I wouldn't go fund me
back up and uh, let Shannon.
Speaker 4 (39:19):
In the most. Now it's not Shannon's not the most.
Let's take the money. No, No, this is Ryan's. This
is this is Ryan versus his mind and versus his will.
(39:40):
I cannot believe your girlfriend has now flipped to she
wants you to do it well.
Speaker 1 (39:45):
Like I said, once that money value start going up,
I'm more worried about talking to my doctor today.
Speaker 2 (39:50):
I'm not starting.
Speaker 4 (39:51):
Are you going to tell you doctor?
Speaker 2 (39:52):
I think I think I might not.
Speaker 4 (39:54):
I think I'll just you don't want their negative energy around.
It's very unlikely the doctor's gonna encourage you to do it. Yeah,
I mean the doctor is not gonna be like, you
know what would be a really good idea for you?
Speaker 1 (40:07):
You eat a bunch of donuts in the morning, so
you're not gonna tell I don't think I'm gonna tell her.
Speaker 3 (40:12):
If she'll tell you, like what could happen to your body,
she's gonna scare you into it.
Speaker 6 (40:16):
Don't don't do it, don't even don't even mention.
Speaker 5 (40:19):
What if you don't mention it? And just part of
your regular appointment. She's like, Ron, when we gotta get
your sugar down, then.
Speaker 4 (40:24):
What do you do? Oh? Do you look in the
eyes and say, yes, I mean you get you take
all this sugar. It's like a last hurrah. Yeah. Think
of it as like your bachelor party for sugar.
Speaker 2 (40:36):
Sure, and then on Saturday I can be sugar.
Speaker 4 (40:39):
Then starting Saturday, Yeah, your sugar sugar goes.
Speaker 7 (40:43):
Now.
Speaker 2 (40:43):
I think that's a great idea.
Speaker 4 (40:44):
You know what happens in Vegas that what happens at
the CNS pool remote in your backyard stays at the
CNS pool remote. Now, I know sometimes Josiah is embarrassed
of you every day? Is he embarrassed about this? Oh,
he has no idea. I don't think he has any idea. Well,
he'll be home, he'll be in bed. No, I think
he's actually he's working tom arow Wild Eggs. He won't
(41:06):
be there, so he's not gonna be he's gonna be there, Okay,
all right, So tomorrow morning, who all's gonna be there?
Just us, Shannon and Billy.
Speaker 1 (41:14):
I think some CNS Pools people are gonna be there.
I think some my Heart sales staff may show up,
but that's it.
Speaker 5 (41:19):
I'm getting the donuts at nine am, so they won't
be exactly fresh, but not too bad.
Speaker 4 (41:24):
That's okay. That won't be hot. We don't want that
to interfere.
Speaker 2 (41:27):
I think maybe they're warm. It might help me.
Speaker 4 (41:29):
Well, look, that's the best. We can't. We can't deliver
these to you at the exact moment. We will will
come on at ten o'clock. We'll kind of get thirty
minutes of prep, and then you will do it from
ten thirty to eleven while Drew and and Shannon and
I kind of host the show, and then you'll be
able to come back on at eleven and we will
see how your stomach's doing. You have fifteen minutes. The
(41:52):
rules are very simple. It all has to be in
your mouth at the end of the fifteen minutes. It
doesn't have to all be down.
Speaker 2 (42:00):
What's in my mouth though, I have to swallow.
Speaker 4 (42:02):
It as yeah yeah, yeah, I mean you can't just
that would just be stupid if you could just put
it all in your mouth and spit it out. This
is gonna be And to everyone who donated, thank you
very much. That was that's so nice, very nice. And
to those of you that are nervous about it, like
the ladies of ks R and the very listen and
my mom, it's gonna be great. And then once he
(42:24):
has that five thousand dollars, just think think about what
would how happy he's gonna be.
Speaker 2 (42:32):
Yes, I'm gonna be very very very happy.
Speaker 4 (42:35):
All right, Thank you all very much for listening. We
will see you tomorrow the Rye Lemon Donut Challenge. Remember
next week the kid Law Familia team will be on
myern Metcalf hosting one on and then in two weeks
we'll have parton my take doing it again as well.
This has been a Kentucky sports radio
