So we're joining, We're out here, Like I said, with
the University Club, It's the Swing for Soldiers golf charity
event as part of the Homes for Troops. And we're
joined now by a veteran, a hero, Brett BonDurant from Lawrenceburg, Indiana,
one of the recipients of one of the homes it
was built through this program. So honored to meet you, sir.

Speaker 5 (02:10):
Honored to meet you. Thanks for having me.

Speaker 2 (02:12):
So you said you were recipient in twenty fourteen. Twenty fourteen,
that's correct, yep, and you are still a part of
the event you come with every year.

Speaker 6 (02:18):
Yeah, this is year I think twelve for us. The
very first year, actually, my wife was pregnant with my
oldest daughter who's here with us. She'll be twelve in
just a couple of weeks, so I think the very
first year she was pregnant with her. So yeah, we've
kind of made a stop here every summer. It's been
something that we look forward to, and you know, kind
of as today ends, we already start the countdown for

(02:40):
next year.

Speaker 4 (02:41):
I recognize you from some of these in the past,
but tell us being a recipient, just the impact that
had on you. You're a double amputee and they make
these special homes to help you out. I mean what
exactly did that look like for you and your family.

Speaker 6 (02:52):
Yeah, so I was a young kid when I got hurt,
and I didn't really understand that there were things like
this that even existed.

Speaker 7 (02:58):
You know.

Speaker 6 (03:00):
I don't remember exactly how it started, but we had
came back home or we're on our way back home,
and started about started talking through some various looming processes.
I was just going to build a house, and there
was a guy locally it was like, man, you guys
got to check out check out an organization.

Speaker 5 (03:12):
I was still active duty. I gave them a call.

Speaker 6 (03:15):
They flew my wife and I up there and tat Massachusetts.
We hung out for the weekend. Called a couple of
days later. So they wanted to build a house. And
the process has just been super smooth sailing since then.
The people up there are are awesome, just patriots and
great people. It's been it's been a real pleasure.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
And you're building your hometown of Lawrenceburg, Indiana.

Speaker 5 (03:35):
That's correct.

Speaker 6 (03:35):
Yep, born and raised in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, and we built
there and well we've been there since twenty fourteen, so
eleven years, eleven a half years now.

Speaker 2 (03:41):
So was it built accessible for your needs.

Speaker 6 (03:44):
That's correct. Yeah, yeah, so yeah, pretty standard things. I mean,
the the doorways are wider, the hallways are wider. All
the kitchen appliances have roll unders. All of the bathrooms
are set up to for me to maneuver in a wheelchair.

Speaker 2 (03:58):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (03:58):
Yeah, from the Hoosier state. You know, this is a
Kentucky Jacob's Kentucky. Got to tie it into our sports
show here. Where do you? Where do you? What's your
allegiance in sports?

Speaker 5 (04:07):
I wear blue every day of the year.

Speaker 2 (04:09):
But a boy, all right, boy.

Speaker 4 (04:11):
Got a little I'm with two Indiana guys, both Rock
and Blue.

Speaker 8 (04:14):
Something to know.

Speaker 6 (04:15):
No, I live in that little southeast corner, so we're perfect.
We're only an hour hour and a half from here,
but we're big Kentucky fans, always have been.

Speaker 5 (04:22):
I grew up. I grew up wearing blue and white.
So this is this has been a real treat for us.

Speaker 4 (04:26):
Yeah. What's it like being Jacob's buddy? Now I've been
out here hanging out with him. He's one of the
all time greats.

Speaker 6 (04:31):
Yeah, I mean his Yeah, his athletic career kind of
speaks for itself. But just the character of the man
and his family and the team that he's built here.
It's just really really special.

Speaker 8 (04:41):
Guy.

Speaker 2 (04:42):
Now you one of the guys that come here and
actually play. I play or right around with Jacob on
the cart and drink all.

Speaker 6 (04:47):
So Actually the was it was one of the first
couple of years I rode around with Jacob and just
took some swings with every every group. But because of
this event, I started playing. Now really, Yeah, I'm an
avid golfer now.

Speaker 2 (04:59):
Ye, it's awesome.

Speaker 5 (04:59):
I played times a week and I love it. Yeah,
I've been ate up with it.

Speaker 4 (05:03):
Uh, did you have any interest in golf before get
involved with this organization? Is that what's put put golf
in your life?

Speaker 6 (05:08):
It put golf in my life. Yes, So I grew
up playing football by school and baseball, never played golf.
Didn't have time for it, and uh, we were always
busy doing everything else. But you know, we've gotten a
retired at a young age, and you know, I think
just a part of my step into the retirement community,
I had to pick up pick up golf. And then
I came down here with Jacob and uh and fell

(05:28):
in love.

Speaker 4 (05:29):
You can tell on Jacob for as you know, he
drives around and he's he's talking to everyone to shake
his hands, shaking hands, doing the fundraising. Does he ever
actually pick up the club? Because he's good at everything?
Is he good at golf too?

Speaker 5 (05:39):
Uh?

Speaker 4 (05:40):
Yeah, he can play.

Speaker 5 (05:41):
He can play, good man. Don't don't tell him I
said that, But he can play.

Speaker 2 (05:45):
Now, are you able to put into words then what
Home for the Troops is meant for you and your
young families? You guys were getting started.

Speaker 6 (05:53):
There's not enough time of the day. Really, we can,
we can, we can hit on It has been so
special for us us. I mean, you know, not just
a place where I'm comfortable and at home, but it
gives me the ability to be to be present for
my children. You know, we've we've created a family in
the house. There's still growing, but it's it's provided me

(06:14):
with the ability to be a present father and a
hands on father, the type of the type of father
that I like to be. So it's it's been just
really really great for us. Yeah I could, we could.
We could do this all day long and we can
talk about how great this this organization is. But the
it's it's just been really special, right. I got to
tie it back into sports. I messed up I asked

(06:34):
him if he likes the hoosis of the Cats. I'm
an idiot, Dan here, friend of program, Just show me
a picture of Brett doing the catwalk with Mark steps
for a football all my of course, I mean really, yeah,
he's more of a Cat's fan than us.

Speaker 4 (06:46):
Maybe what game was that? What was that like? That
was a great game? It looks like it I think
it's said Murray State is what I believe it's looks
like around there.

Speaker 5 (06:54):
Yeah, and what year was that? Okay, so about four
years ago I flipped a coin for the Kentucky George game.

Speaker 2 (07:00):
Did you really You're you're sandbagging on us. That's just
been the lead right there, not just.

Speaker 4 (07:06):
Any game, the Georgia game.

Speaker 5 (07:07):
The Georgia game.

Speaker 6 (07:08):
Yeah, yeah, it was and was a really good year
for the Cats, a really great year for Georgia obviously.

Speaker 4 (07:12):
But is that the year we went in thinking we
had a shot? That's correct? Oh yeah, yeah, a lot
of momentum for that one.

Speaker 5 (07:19):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (07:19):
What's it like with UK football? Obviously you've done a
couple of things with him, They've they've walcome you into Yeah,
I'm sure you have another relationship. Had some fun of.

Speaker 6 (07:26):
Stoops to we've had a blast coach Stoops. He's an
awesome dude. He's had us around a couple of times.
He's been out here a handful of times. Yeah, alright,
there's been a lot of other football staff around here.
All those guys have been great, man, all those guys
have been great.

Speaker 5 (07:39):
I know.

Speaker 4 (07:40):
Now I'm looking at pictures you with the Derby. I
mean you're you're well traveled in the sports world.

Speaker 6 (07:44):
Yeah, yes, this, this area of Kentucky, man Is is
one of our favorite places in the whole world.

Speaker 4 (07:49):
So sorry I cut you off with Stoops. There any
good Stoop stories that are radio friendly.

Speaker 7 (07:54):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (07:55):
He likes to have fun out here. I've seen him
out here a few times.

Speaker 6 (07:58):
He's awesome, awesome guy. Yeah, he's been here a couple times,
played some golf couple of times.

Speaker 4 (08:02):
I think his brother. I saw a picture of him
and it last year Mike was out here. Yep.

Speaker 5 (08:05):
I think that's right. Yep, I think that's right. I
know that's I know.

Speaker 6 (08:07):
The football staff usually has a couple of guys down
here and awesome guys.

Speaker 5 (08:11):
Yeah, we've had a lot of fun with those guys.

Speaker 2 (08:12):
So Matt Jones is our main host loves the Cincinnati Reds.

Speaker 5 (08:16):
Okay, I see your forearm.

Speaker 2 (08:18):
You got the Cincinnati Reds mascot tattooed on your forearm.

Speaker 4 (08:22):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (08:23):
We live twenty five minutes away from from Great American there,
so yeah, we're big Reds fans, big Bengals fans.

Speaker 4 (08:29):
Yeah. Well, good Matt always does a Reds update how
he's feeling, And as you can imagine, it's been a
roller coaster every show. Ryan and I never know good mood,
bad mood. Where are you in your Red's journey? Right now?
We joke it's the summer of Alley. It's either up down,
up down. Where are you in your Red's journey?

Speaker 6 (08:43):
That's a pretty fair assumption, I think, Yeah, it's it's
a roller coaster is probably the correct term to use.

Speaker 5 (08:50):
A lot of highs, a lot of lows. A little
inconsistent recently.

Speaker 6 (08:53):
But there's a good ball team in there somewhere, so
I'm looking forward to I'm looking forward to getting there.

Speaker 2 (08:58):
So how you feel about next year? Is UK ball season?

Speaker 5 (09:00):
Then I feel good about it. Yeah, I feel good
about I like stoops a.

Speaker 2 (09:03):
Like Okay, our fan base needs to hear this, so
give us the good pep talk to get us ready
for football season.

Speaker 6 (09:07):
Let's get this optimism good, good pep talk. Well, I mean,
coaching staff's great. A lot of a lot of new
guys coming in right, a lot of couple some returners
who are going to provide some quality of time. I'm optimistic, man,
I'm looking forward to looking forward to football season, obviously
basketball season as well.

Speaker 5 (09:25):
But be a good time.

Very nice to meet you at a fantastic.

Speaker 4 (09:32):
Putting my mouth asking if you like the cats. Heck,
what a resume, kid, that's right.

Speaker 6 (09:36):
Like I said, this is the only day of the year.
A lot we were red, so we're we're we were
a lot of blue and white here.

Speaker 2 (09:42):
Gret bonderot want of recipients of the homes for the troops.
That the reason they do this swing for the soldiers
out here. You're recipient in twenty fourteen Lawrenceburg, Indiana, come

to see if you guys, you and Drew could tell
me out of these eight guys, do you know these names?
Are they recognizable names for you?

Speaker 2 (11:22):
There's I'm gonna go for eight. I already know I
know one.

Speaker 3 (11:25):
No, yeah, yeah, Drew, you're gonna know one because one's
a brave So Matt Olson, we know not.

Speaker 4 (11:29):
Nelsen okay man, he's in for Ronald to Brave.

Speaker 2 (11:32):
That just won two of three of my cardinals over
the weekend.

Speaker 1 (11:35):
Uh.

Speaker 9 (11:35):
There is Jazz Chisholm Junior. Have you ever heard of
that player?

Speaker 2 (11:40):
No? Idea.

Speaker 9 (11:40):
I have never heard of that player either, Drew, I've
heard the name.

Speaker 4 (11:45):
I couldn't give you a team, so I'm gonna say
I don't know the.

Speaker 3 (11:46):
Pers Okay, Junior Camonero is also in the home run
Derby contest. Don't know that one, Nope, Byron Buxton, don't.

Speaker 5 (11:56):
Know that one.

Speaker 2 (11:57):
Never heard of that person that that's not a real player.

Speaker 3 (12:00):
Uh, he's plus nine to fifty to win the derby
tonight on DraftKings, Brent Rooker, you.

Speaker 4 (12:05):
Are making these people up. No, I'm not.

Speaker 2 (12:07):
These are dudes.

Speaker 4 (12:08):
Are give me teams? Where was Brian?

Speaker 9 (12:11):
But it doesn't say I'm just I'm just hearing your name.

Speaker 3 (12:14):
I cann't even tell you because honestly, I don't know
these guys either, and I've got a lot of baseball.

Speaker 9 (12:18):
Yeah, I don't know Brent Rook. Okay, James Wood.

Speaker 2 (12:21):
He's an actor.

Speaker 4 (12:22):
He's an actor, very political.

Speaker 3 (12:24):
He is the he's the third, I guess favorite. He's
plus four fifty to win the derby night O'Neill cruise, he's.

Speaker 4 (12:33):
One of the cruise boys that sounds like a baseball player.

Speaker 9 (12:36):
And then the favorite to win tonight. You might know
this name, Cal Raley.

Speaker 4 (12:41):
Oh, he went to calra what's his name school?

Speaker 2 (12:44):
His name is Cal Raley.

Speaker 9 (12:45):
Have either of you heard this guy?

Speaker 5 (12:47):
No? Okay, do you wait, wait wait?

Speaker 9 (12:49):
Do you realize this guy is.

Speaker 3 (12:51):
On pace to break Barry Bonds all time single season
home runners.

Speaker 2 (12:56):
He's got a nickname called like dumper.

Speaker 3 (13:00):
Nobody's talking about this guy, and nobody knows who he is,
and he's got like thirty eight or thirty nine home
runs at the All Star break.

Speaker 4 (13:07):
Yeah, the big Dumper. I didn't recognize.

Speaker 2 (13:09):
If you said big dumper, I think we would have known.
That's all. I am already calls him the Big Dumper.
And his real name is cal Poly.

Speaker 9 (13:15):
Cal Raleigh with an R Raleigh.

Speaker 2 (13:20):
Okay, what teams?

Speaker 9 (13:21):
He played for the Seattle Mariners.

Speaker 2 (13:25):
Like I said, I've heard of him. I know he's
on this record pace for home.

Speaker 9 (13:27):
Run and he's a catcher on top of that.

Speaker 2 (13:29):
Which is this?

Speaker 4 (13:30):
This is kind of what's sad about baseball. I thought
he was just in my own household, Like I don't
keep up with MLB outside of my braves. But how
was the guy chasing Babe Ruth. He's nicknamed the Big
Dumper and this isn't a bigger story. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (13:42):
I mean I didn't even know who he was until
maybe a few weeks ago, and I started looking up
the home run leaders and I go, cal Raley started
doing the numbers, and I go, well, he's on pace to,
you know, get close to Barry Bonds all time single
season record, and I feel.

Speaker 9 (13:56):
Like nobody even knows who he is.

Speaker 2 (13:57):
Nobody knows who he is. Crazy said, it's a problem
with baseball. They don't promote these people enough, and like
the Home Run Derby needs to have Aaron Judge and
need to have some superstars in it to get us
involved and invested in these contests or even the All
Star Game. Tonight's kind of like, oh well.

Speaker 3 (14:13):
I'm not really sure how they even pick who the
Home Run Derby contestants are. You know, I'm not sure
if they go off of like the stats or or what,
because I don't I don't think Matt Olsen has the
most in the National League.

Speaker 9 (14:26):
I might be wrong about that, but I'm not even
sure how they go about. You would think Aaron Judge
would be in there, right, Yeah.

Speaker 4 (14:33):
You would think or at least a player I've heard of. Yeah,
I know, Olson's a replacement for our Boykunya. Oh okay,
that's how he got in.

Speaker 9 (14:40):
That makes sense.

Speaker 4 (14:41):
Okay, Butkunya wouldn't be a leader.

Speaker 2 (14:43):
He's been hurt so but he was supposed to be
in the home run Derby.

Speaker 4 (14:45):
Yeah, yeah, all right, excited? That's uh so?

Speaker 2 (14:48):
Is that tonight?

Speaker 4 (14:49):
That is tonight? Yeah? Tomorrow, Yeah, come on tomorrow. MLB
needs a better marketing department.

Speaker 2 (14:55):
They do, and I tell who else does Nascar? Those
two sports used to be got how much more publicity
people knew the drivers? No, I couldn't name four or
five drivers.

Speaker 4 (15:05):
Yeah. I mean the fact that Shannon just read seven
of the eight supposed best home run hitters in baseball,
and we only know one because the big Dumper we
didn't know his actual name, and.

Speaker 2 (15:14):
The one Olsen because he plays for Your Break.

Speaker 3 (15:16):
Matt Olsen is thirty for I just looked it up,
like the top home run leaders for this year. He's
thirty first. So I don't know how they go about
picking the guys that are in it. I mean, there's
you know, thirty thirty other guys by the numbers that
are better home run hitters hitters than he is, but
yet he's in the derby. I don't know how they
picked them.

Speaker 4 (15:33):
We know the same as the dunk contest in the NBA. Yeah,
who these guys? Why did they get here?

Speaker 2 (15:37):
So will if you guys watch it tonight?

Speaker 4 (15:38):
Oh yeah, I just found out it's tonight.

Speaker 9 (15:40):
Yeah, he do, I watch it? What else is it
going to be on.

Speaker 2 (15:45):
Summer league games?

Speaker 4 (15:46):
I've been watching so much Summer League. If I told
you all how much Summer League I've been watching, I
think I'd actually be embarrassed. I think you'd be ashamed
of me.

Speaker 2 (15:53):
Well, let's get to it that it was the top
guy's going to do next segment. Let's go ahead do
it right now. Reed. Shepherd had what twenty eight point
points Friday night in the Rockets Summer League game. He did?
I mean, he's obviously proven why the Rocket did not
want to include him in that Durant trade. He's gonna be,
He's gonna play.

Speaker 4 (16:09):
He has the one of the best games so far.
But uh, he played yesterday. It didn't play that well.
He scored a lot of points, but he had he
went one for seven from three uh six turnovers.

Speaker 2 (16:19):
Oh wow.

Speaker 4 (16:19):
Selfishly, I'm kind of glad he dipped a little bit
because I was worried if he had another big game,
they're gonna pull him. So now we get to watch
a little more Reach Shepherd in Vegas. But he didn't
have a great day yesterday. Uh Amari Williams has looked
good for the Celtics. See numbers haven't been huge, but
right away in the game and Celtics fans were just

(16:43):
going crazy about Amar Kobe Brown. Kobe Brand has played
two games in Phoenix. I missed uh his first game,
he went three for three from three to start the game.
I don't know their their ins and out of their
roster now since there's been some trades and stuff, what
the depth looks like. But he could not have had
a better start to Summer League so far. A turn spot,

(17:05):
that's what I saw. He had fifteen in an A
James Coppin Also, Topping has been crazy good. He's Atlanta's
best player by far. Uh. You know, we always see
guys making joke of the pros, but I'm watching Topping
thinking where was this guy? Now likesident He's knocking down three.
He's been one of the best players in all of Vegas.
A few more Jackson Robinson.

Speaker 2 (17:25):
He's not even playing.

Speaker 4 (17:26):
Is very little feel bad for him. He's coming back
from an injury and you look up it's like, oh,
here's the NBA. Like there was no buffer game. He
didn't get a little more college. It was just, uh, rehab,
I'm healthy, go play summer league. But he's been pretty
pretty quiet for Cleveland.

Speaker 2 (17:43):
Another name I see Kentucky connections seem a guy made
a couple of headline is Chris Livingston.

Speaker 4 (17:48):
Playing really well for Milwaukee. Rob Dillingham another one from
before the Pope era. If he's not first and assists
he's at the time, he might be third, getting like
eight assists to his first two games games. He's been
a lot of fun. Car and Butler are also out there.
Haven't seen much of Andrew Carr, although he walked by
the TV broadcast wearing a UK shirt.

Speaker 2 (18:09):
That's how you tweeted that out.

Speaker 4 (18:10):
And Butler's been hurt so he hasn't played at all
for the Hawks. Butler is supposed to be Jacob Poppins teammate,
but he's been silent.

Speaker 2 (18:17):
Yes, Butler's injury still the shoulder from.

Speaker 4 (18:20):
They've just said Lamont Butler out had been very specific.
They play again today. It's actually Rockets versus Hawks. Maybe
he'll go, but I'm not sure since he set out
the first two. Well, you can't the whole Summer League.
It's just cat aftercat aftercat. You can just turn it on.
I've had two TVs going where he got multiple cats
in games. Scals playing, there's playing in the Summer League.

(18:41):
Scal had a big game. He even played for the Magic.
His first game was great, second game pretty quiet. But
if you need something to watch summer leagues, it starts
about three every day and goes till you fall asleep.
It's hard to find a game without a Kentucky player.

Speaker 2 (18:55):
Well, I think you said the big storylines for his
Kentucky fans are concerned to read had a monster game.
Kobe Bray has been Maybe he shooting his way into
making them making the roster.

Speaker 4 (19:05):
Kobe and Amari are the stars of the rookies of
the Kentucky guys. They both look to be a great
spot through just two Summer League games and reads the
future of the Rockets. He didn't get the opportunity he
probably deserved last year as a number three pick because
they were so good. So they're using this as given
read the minutes he deserved as a rookie, and it's
he's yesterday was a little sloppy, but he's clearly better

(19:27):
than anyone else on the court.

Speaker 2 (19:29):
Shouldn't you say? We had a phone call.

Speaker 9 (19:30):
Yeah, let's go to Derek.

Speaker 2 (19:32):
Maybe you taking a punk? Derek? Go ahead, Derek.

Speaker 7 (19:36):
Hei guys, first time, I'm long, Derek, go ahead. And
I never thought i'd call my first time. Can you
hear me?

Speaker 4 (19:44):
All right?

Speaker 2 (19:47):
Yes, sir?

Speaker 4 (19:47):
Go ahead?

Speaker 7 (19:49):
All right? So I never thought I'd be calling in
to talk about donut eating on my first call, but
here we are. Have you guys heard of the Katina
d jar Net professional eater?

Speaker 2 (20:02):
I do not know that name. I just know Jimmy Chitwood.

Speaker 8 (20:06):
I got it.

Speaker 7 (20:06):
You guys even check her out. She is a tiny
little chick that can put away some food. Thirty donuts,
drank three sixteen ounce milks in thirty one minutes. So
I just thought i'd put.

Speaker 5 (20:22):
You on that.

Speaker 7 (20:22):
See if you want to check her out?

Speaker 4 (20:24):
All right? Looking her up?

Speaker 2 (20:26):
She is tiny and she's a competitive eater.

Speaker 7 (20:28):
Yeah, she called it's impressible.

Speaker 4 (20:32):
Katina eats kilos is her is her her brand? I
guess that's her name and her website she's tiny, all right,
appreciate the thirty donuts. Don't even know where she would
put them.

Speaker 2 (20:42):
So this is on the a vision glass tech machine. Yes,
did you and Drew participate in the Lexington Burger Week
and did you find one that you really liked?

Speaker 4 (20:50):
I did not. I am retired. Uh the first lexingon
Burger Week, some of our Chassar followers may remember, I
challenged myself to eat every burger in Lexington, which on
average was three and a half per day, and I
accomplishment and I retired that year. But it is a
fun event and there were burgers all over time that
look good.

Speaker 2 (21:09):
They were fantastic. I part part took in some of them,
as you might imagine, but my favorite one was yesterday
and a spot you wouldn't think would have a great burger,
Wild Eggs. It's like a double bacon cheeseburger with an
egg on it, nothing new, But then they put a
hash brown, like a square hash brown like you get Donald's,
like a hash brown square. It was unbelievable.

Speaker 4 (21:29):
So that's the best part of Burger Week. Restaurants that
don't serve burgers come up with with their own burgers.
So I mean you go to an Italian restaurant or whatever,
wild Eggs, you name it, and they've created a burger
for Burger Week. So that is a fun part. But
I did not participate. I did Salad Week. I'm up
a little bit. So last week I did a lot
of sound.

Speaker 2 (21:49):
Kind of some more food news. I'm excited, Shannon, Yeah.

Speaker 9 (21:59):
You cut out. I didn't hear a word you said.

Speaker 4 (22:02):
Sorry.

Speaker 2 (22:03):
I said, McDonald's is bringing back the snack Rap. Are
you excited about that?

Speaker 3 (22:08):
I'm not really a big McDonald's guy. It was what
exactly is the snack Rap.

Speaker 2 (22:11):
It's like it's like, you know, a little tortilla and
it wraps around a couple like chicken nuggets, and it's
got some lettuce and cheese and mayonnaise, and like it's
the only thing is it's only like three dollars. That's
the best thing about it.

Speaker 9 (22:23):
You tell me it's coming back.

Speaker 3 (22:24):
I don't think I ever knew it existed, So I'm
not I can't say I'm excited about it because it's
like ten years.

Speaker 4 (22:31):
I'm surprised you haven't seen people celebrate. People were losing
their minds about the snacks Snackrap coming back.

Speaker 3 (22:36):
So Why is it so like popular if it's just
a couple of chicken nuggets wrapped up with lettuce and mayo,
like what.

Speaker 2 (22:43):
I think, because it's somewhat healthy.

Speaker 10 (22:45):
It's cheap compared to the rest of the McDonald's menu. Yeah,
it's rapping a tortilla, easy to eat on the go,
eat on the goal. It's cheap, I don't I mentioned,
but it's only three dollars and it's very feeling so channing.
You got to go try to the McDonald's snack rap.

Speaker 3 (22:59):
Well, I think when I'm here is a future Ryan
Lemon eating contest. How many of those you could eat
in fifteen minutes?

Speaker 2 (23:04):
That's what I say. I retire. I have one hundred
percent retire.

Speaker 9 (23:08):
You as excited about back wrap as you are the donuts.
That's what we want to know.

Speaker 4 (23:13):
You just said out loud about problem with McDonald's. You
said it's three dollars, it's cheap. I remember the dollar menu.

Speaker 2 (23:19):
Oh, yes, the dollar menu. What happened to bring that back?

Speaker 4 (23:21):
McDonald donald's used to be cheap.

Speaker 2 (23:24):
Uh, we'll take our break. We're out here at the
Swing for Soldiers golf event for the Homes for the Troops.
Ryan Drew and Shannon. We'll be right back. I can
take a sports radio.

Speaker 4 (23:32):
TJ.

Speaker 1 (23:33):
Smith, personal injury attorney called TJ. He'll make them.

Speaker 3 (23:36):

here con taking sports radio. We're at the swings for
Soldiers of Inn out of the University Club on Leastown Road,
part of the home for the troops. Uh, Shannon, very
awkward moment for Drew and I I think the last
couple of minutes. Yeah, we're trying to get through it.

(24:25):
But it's just very awkward. That's all we need to
say about it. Like, what's no, I don't I mean no, no,
it's uh when maybe we'll talk about it at another day.
But I just want you to know, folks living, it's
a it's very very awkward.

Speaker 4 (24:38):
We're just uncomfortable. That's all We're gonna be. Okay, it's
not like White House uncomfortable.

Speaker 3 (24:43):
True awkward moments. You know, you just got to learn
to embrace it. And uh, you know, don't make it.
If you make it awkward, it's going to be even
more awkward.

Speaker 9 (24:53):
So just play along whatever.

Speaker 2 (24:56):
Body completely at ninety degree angle away from the awkward
it's and I are like have complete eye contact. We
can't make eye contact with anybody else.

Speaker 4 (25:05):
We just want you to know that we have that
going on in the back of our brain while we
talk for the next thirty minute.

Speaker 2 (25:12):
Two two eight seven, it's the Clark's publish our phone number.
Who we got you in? Richard, Richard, go ahead, Richard.

Speaker 8 (25:18):
Hey guys, good morning. You guys do a wonderful job.
And I just wanted to ask a quick question or two,
all right, and hear your comments to see if you
have any inside information on exactly what day Yeleovick will
be arriving from Croatia for the Cats basketball And then
I would like for you just I'll just ask this

(25:39):
and then get off and that you've got to comment.
How do you feel about the appreciating in the NCC
conference this year. I appreciate you taking my call and
look forward to hearing your comments.

Speaker 2 (25:51):
All right, appreciate it, Richard. For as Yellovich goes, I
don't think anybody really knows for sure when or if
he's gonna be able to come over this summer before
school starts. You know, big Z didn't enroll until a
lot of October, so I'm not for sure what's going
on there, Drew, do you know any other idea?

Speaker 4 (26:07):
I don't know any specifics, but our guy Phoenix Stevens,
who covers the women team, mentioned that a women's player
in a similar situation just got cleared, So I give
this a little hope. I mean, that's nothing directly related
to him, but at least you see that, and maybe
you're thinking they're getting their checklist. It's a good sign.
But as far as anything recent, any changes, anything brand

(26:30):
new since we last talked about him, I don't know
of anything official. I think they're still optimistic and they
need to get moving. They know they need to get moving,
but I don't have an update today on July fourteenth.

Speaker 2 (26:41):
What about the officiating in the SEC, I've assume he's
talking about basketball.

Speaker 4 (26:45):
Well, if he's talking about football, I still haven't forgiven
them for not counting the touchdown last year against Georgia
on the interception. Yes, but in basketball, and Pope has
said this many times, they have to fix the monitor problem. Yes,
that that was not I mean, that was a fun
season last year, but these two and a half three
hour basketball games have to stop. So whatever they're gonna

(27:09):
do calling fouls or how they you know, called the
actual basketball, put that aside. Figure out what you're doing
with your end of games and your stoppages, I think
is their biggest priority.

Speaker 2 (27:20):
And we don't need to go to the monitor five
minutes into the game doing when it ball gets kicked
out abound, just they make the call. Go with that call.
You don't need to go to the monitor when the game.

Speaker 4 (27:28):
Just starts and there's no flow at the end when
it matters.

Speaker 5 (27:31):
Yeah, right, was it?

Speaker 4 (27:33):
When they're game? There was like over three hours? Am
I exaggerating that three hours? There was that A and
M Vandy game we're waiting on that just kept going
and going. Coaches or now they know it's coming, they're
they're using those monitor reviews as tom outs across the
board in college basketball, not just the SEC, but mostly
the SEC. They got to get back to a smoother

(27:54):
game and stop doing the reviews all the time.

Speaker 2 (27:57):
Is it still happening.

Speaker 4 (27:58):
It's still happening a little bit.

Speaker 2 (27:59):
Okay, I'm not looking.

Speaker 4 (28:01):
I made I contact and I wish I had.

Speaker 2 (28:04):
Oh That's why I'm looking at you. Turn in looking
eight five nine two eight h two two eight seven
shamick anybody else?

Speaker 9 (28:10):
No lines are open?

Speaker 2 (28:12):
Lines over you want to call and get on board.
A couple other things we want to talk about. The
TBT tournament starts Friday here in Lexington at Historic Momorial Cosseum.
Our Kentucky team plays the last game on Friday. I
think its scheduled to tip off at nine nine o'clock,
probably be closer to nine thirty, maybe even later than that.
We're going this is kind of TBT week they all arrived.

(28:33):
They had what a charity all star event on Saturday
at Tates Creek High School. Saw a lot of familiar
faces out there playing in that game that looked like
it was a lot of fun.

Speaker 4 (28:42):
Yeah, what's up with this DJ Burns guy? We had it?
Did you see this?

Speaker 2 (28:46):
He had like fifty points?

Speaker 4 (28:47):
This is the Kentucky charity game full of Kentucky legends
and DJ Burns, who I'm sure is wonderful and we're
glad to have him participating. A lot familiar. How is
he scoring fifty at a Kentucky event?

Speaker 2 (28:58):
Fifty points? Dj burn We need more intel on who
DJ Burns is and where he came from.

Speaker 4 (29:04):
Yeah, Mario interviewed him. It's on Mario's social media. I
wish Mario's on vacation too.

Speaker 5 (29:09):
We should try that.

Speaker 4 (29:10):
But he went and attended that. But looks like old
DJ Burns has been a nice edition. But overall looks
like a fun time. Some of the guys that aren't
a lot familiar just Kentucky lums joined them for a
charity game, not just the ones playing in TBT, But
it looked like a great day. Our favorite caller, Marsha
sent me a picture of her and Deron said your
two favorite people in hindsight, I really wish I'd made
it out there, But that's just drumming up more interest

(29:31):
in what's to come later this week.

Speaker 2 (29:32):
Yeah, saw Darius Miller go out and play, saw Alex
Poythrius Man.

Speaker 4 (29:37):
I wish he would play.

Speaker 2 (29:38):
Dominique Hawkins played. So there's some familiar faces that aren't
on the TVT team that are participating in this all
star charity event out at Tates Creek on Saturday and.

Speaker 4 (29:47):
Today right after the show. I don't think I'm gonna
be able to make it, but uh, they're doing interviews
on campus with media. Every player on the team will
do interviews and then you're gonna have them all later
this week here on KSR. So we did it last
year where we talked all of them. I enjoy. I
know they're here to preview the tournament. I'm more interested
in the old stories of the past, like I got
from Williams some of the guys. But that will be

(30:08):
ahead this week too.

Speaker 2 (30:09):
So Wednesday, we're supposed to have four guys on Wednesday,
four different guys on Thursday, and.

Speaker 4 (30:14):
Then they're doing that hour long special with Jesser and Shannon.

Speaker 2 (30:18):
Right, Jesser and Shannon will be doing a big special there.
We're looking forward to that. If if we get Jesser Shannon,
we have to have him on.

Speaker 9 (30:26):
But we don't have to we don't have to do anything.
We're running the show that day. We don't have to
have him on.

Speaker 2 (30:31):
I think we have to have money. He's so popular
as a YouTuber, Yeah, I think, and Shannon being a
big fan of Big.

Speaker 9 (30:37):
Fan Sugan of Jesser. Does he get a last name?

Speaker 2 (30:42):
Uh? Yeah, the Laser. I like that.

Speaker 4 (30:50):
He did not play in the charity game Saturday though, right,
he did not. No, I don't know if Jesster's here
for his actual basketball. I think they're tapping into Jesster's
audience of teenagers.

Speaker 2 (31:00):
Well, why wouldn't you if you had an opportunity to
get that kind of exposure, I think you would kind
of take advantage devil a little bit.

Speaker 4 (31:05):
I'm with Shannon, though, I don't expect to see Jesser
taking anybody off the dribble Friday night. Let's leave that
to Archie Goodwin and the Harrison Twins.

Speaker 2 (31:12):
Well, I think they start practice today. Yeah, so he's
probably in town. Maybe we can get him on this
week for sure, but I think they start practice today
because they play on Friday.

Speaker 4 (31:21):
All right, Well, don't get anybody's way, Jess. We're glad
to have you give us lots of promotion, but let's
let the Cats be the stars. I hope last year.
I hope they do what they did last year where
the current Cats Pope's Cats get to play the Law familiar.

Speaker 2 (31:34):
Well, we have to be very.

Speaker 4 (31:35):
Careful on calling that a practice or a scrimmage, so
I'm not saying anything official, but if they were to
be on the on the court at the same time,
that would be pretty neat.

Speaker 2 (31:43):
Yeah, we can't say anything about that, but wink wink,
that would be great at that wink wink. If that happened,
wink wink.

Speaker 4 (31:50):
Yeah, Mark Pope's team shows up at a gym that
TBT Law Familia happened to be at. What they do
amongst themselves is none of my business and we're never
going to talk about it. But if that were to happen,
we would probably uh breathing a good thing. That would
be beneficial for both party, beneficial for both teams, because
that something similar happened last year. And we even heard
was it. Aaron Harrison said that he followed this year,

(32:12):
last season's Kentucky team more than any ever because he
had made those connections.

Speaker 2 (32:16):
Lest soon he knew the players. He knew the guys.

Speaker 4 (32:17):
So maybe they'll run into each other at some point.

Speaker 2 (32:20):
Maybe just accidentally be in the gym at the same time,
play full corps basketball together, and just maybe there might
be uh an opportunity to make getting some work for
the TVT team.

Speaker 4 (32:30):
But definitely not practice. Definitely not practice or a workout
or a scrimmage or whatever. The terminology we can't use.

Speaker 2 (32:35):
This eight nine two oho two two eight seven is
our phone number. We got a couple of lines to
open if you want to call and get on board.
There is another story I need your big take on
because I think it's captivating America.

Speaker 4 (32:44):
Okay, Livy Done, you know Livy Done. No, I don't
know Livy Done. I'm familiar with her.

Speaker 2 (32:51):
Love Livy does. She tried to buy an apartment in Manhattan.
It just so happened. It was formerly Babe Bruce Apartment.
It's in this big, obviously wealthy apartment building, Upper west Side,
Upper west Side. The price tag was like one and
a half million something like that. She got shot down

(33:13):
by the HOA because they didn't want her celebrityism as
part of where they live in Manhattan. I'm on Livy
Dunn side, me too. She's got the money she wants
to buy the apartment. You neighbors can't dictate what I
do for a living just because I'm a celebrity.

Speaker 4 (33:33):
You can't.

Speaker 2 (33:34):
But apparently this HOA shot it down, like it has
to be approved before they can approve a sale like
a the story I saw, she had already paid for
a designer to come in and advanced far enough where
she already asked.

Speaker 4 (33:46):
She had her furniture ready. I saw this.

Speaker 2 (33:48):
Yeah, yeah, I'm on her side.

Speaker 5 (33:50):
Me too.

Speaker 4 (33:51):
I looked up this apartment. Yeah, I'm a New York guy.
When I saw this story. I want to kind of
see where Livy would live. What what one point five
million will get you on the Upper West Side?

Speaker 5 (34:00):
I saw this.

Speaker 4 (34:02):
Actually, it kind of was a studio. I have to
expect a little bigger. Not judging I couldn't afford it,
but the fact that they won't let her live there,
get out of here with that, what do they worry
about paparazzi. She doesn't want paparazzi there either. She doesn't
want people to know where she's I'm sure she's trying
to live low key, and they just voted her out.

Speaker 2 (34:19):
I think the babe would want Livy Done to live
in his old apartment.

Speaker 4 (34:24):
The babe would want a babe in his apartment. He
would sign off on it. He'd probably still want to
be there. I didn't know you could do that, though.

Speaker 2 (34:32):
I guess I didn't either. Their complex in an apartment building.
The other people in there in the complex can vote
not to have the sale go through.

Speaker 4 (34:40):
He's got the money, she's already done the design work,
already invested in some furniture that fits.

Speaker 2 (34:45):
She she clears like what nine million a year.

Speaker 4 (34:49):
Well, if she marries her her current boyfriend, they'll be
clearing a lot more than that.

Speaker 2 (34:53):
That was another thing, like she's gonna live in New
York and he's gonna live in Pittsburgh.

Speaker 4 (34:57):
That's not that hard to do, especially when you're rich.

Speaker 9 (35:00):
He's not in Pittspade that much anyway, he's traveling.

Speaker 2 (35:03):
Well, that's true. Yeah, So I vote for Lyby Done.

Speaker 4 (35:06):
You too, Shannon, You?

Speaker 9 (35:07):
Oh yeah, h ways are the worst.

Speaker 3 (35:09):
And I don't know that it's all the specific owners
of that condo, but probably the board, you know, the
board of directors or whatever that are I guess not
allowing her to stay there. But yeah, I'm on her side.
I hate h ways are the worst.

Speaker 2 (35:22):
We vote for Livy Doune. All right, we got one
more segment. Phone lines are open eighty five nine two
two eighty seven. That's the Clark's pumping Shot phone number.
Call and give us a call. We're gonna wrap it up.
We're at the Swings for a Soldiers event, Jacob Tammy's
event that he's had now for fifteen years out here
at the University Club raising money for homes for soldiers.
It's part of the Homes for the Troops program. We
got a lot of people here that have actually received

(35:44):
one of the homes that Jacob Tammy and the Swings
for sorder to help collect the money for. So it's
just a great organization. It's a great day and we're
just really proud of the efforts that are one of
our own Jacob Tammy has done from Boyle County and
Danville and UK. All Right, we'll take our final break.
Come back our final segment. This is Take You for Tradio.
Welcome back, Take You for a radio final segment here

(36:04):
as we're at the University Club on Leestown Road for
the Swing for the Soldier's Golf event, a fundraising for
the homes for our troops. Uh, somebody's watching us, Druth.
Kind of little, it's little. Is the awkwardness still nuts?
We're all right, okay, We're okay.

Speaker 4 (36:21):
Thing about awkward situations is they're not going to go anywhere,
so you just gotta embrace them. Yeah, you just gotta
look at your settings and say, this is what it is.
I got to do my best to just make this comfortable.
So we were uncomfortable. Now I'm comfortable in being uncomfortable. Life.

Speaker 2 (36:35):
Those your curveball. You gotta keep the weight back and

Yoga Girllvy done. Yeah, yoga girl. Of course you would
agree with Livy. You're a horrible neighbor. I got home
last night. My music hits from the nineties was playing
like at ten thirty. I forgot to turn their own
speakers off.

Speaker 4 (37:43):
How do you keep believing your music going on it?

Speaker 2 (37:46):
I forgot because Joe Si and his friends were out
in the pool. I just left it on, and then
I come back at ten thirty and it's still playing.

Speaker 4 (37:52):
How long would you say it was playing?

Speaker 2 (37:56):
Nine hours?

Speaker 4 (37:56):
Oh my god?

Speaker 9 (37:58):
Rhyinus providing the murder.

Speaker 3 (38:00):
He's providing the soundtrack for the entire neighborhood, whether they
like hits from the nineties.

Speaker 4 (38:05):
So do you have like a relationship with your neighbors
where like they would text you like, hey man, can
we cut that off or can you turn it down?

Speaker 2 (38:12):
Well?

Speaker 4 (38:13):
I don't. When I first moved in, both my neighbors
were like friends. I would text them turn that crap
off or something. Now I don't even have their phone numbers.
So what's your neighbors situation? Neighbors on each side. I
have their phone numbers, and I think they would tell
me if it was bothering them. It's the people right
behind my fence, because the speakers are on that side
of the yard by the fence. What a weekend for

(38:34):
your pool?

Speaker 2 (38:34):
Uh?

Speaker 4 (38:35):
Go cns.

Speaker 2 (38:36):
Uh. Here's another college football? What are your video game?

Speaker 4 (38:40):
College Football twenty six?

Speaker 2 (38:41):
College Football twenty six. They said they've taped Chris Wilcox's shoes.
That is true.

Speaker 4 (38:46):
I noticed that. Uh, you know, you can accessorize your players.
Will Cox has not a little bit of tape. It
is like wrapped and wrapped and wrapped around his ancho.
Now that's a feature. They've had forever you could add
your player, but they included it. On will Cox.

Speaker 2 (39:04):
Eighty seven. Shanon says, we've got a couple of callers,
so who we got. Chance's good to Mark, Mark, Go ahead, Mark.

Speaker 11 (39:10):
Morning, gentlemen.

Speaker 7 (39:11):
He isn't DJ Barnes, the.

Speaker 11 (39:14):
Player that Matt bet one thousand bucks or whatever would
would average ten to twelve points or twenty point?

Speaker 2 (39:21):
Did he did he with the callers?

Speaker 4 (39:24):
Yeah?

Speaker 11 (39:24):
They they added that DJ Burns and the guy said
he's a player, and Matt said, you know, we talked
back and forth, but I could swear Matt has a
bet that this guy won't average ten or fifteen points
through the the tournament.

Speaker 2 (39:43):
Okay, appreciate the phone call. I don't know if he
said that about DJ Burns or Jesser. I think for
sure he said that he was making a bet about Gesros.

Speaker 4 (39:50):
There was a Jester bet.

Speaker 2 (39:51):
Yeah, I wouldn't play. He wouldn't even play ten minutes
at the LO one average ten points.

Speaker 4 (39:55):
See, I'm not always listening to KOSR zone out a
little bit, so I don't remember this, but I now
I don't know him. What we know, I would take
it he played at Southern Did he play for Sean Woods.
Is that how he ended up here?

Speaker 2 (40:05):
Oh that's the connection then, Yeah, he played for Sean
at Southern.

Speaker 4 (40:08):
I know he went to Southern.

Speaker 2 (40:09):
So with Sean being the coach, that would that would
that would that would make sense.

Speaker 4 (40:12):
Regardless fifty over the weekend, we did use that h
this coming weekend when it matters.

Speaker 2 (40:17):
Well, you know, kind of Nate Sistina came out of
nowhere and ended up being the superstar last year's TVT team,
So I wonder who is the star of this year's
tv T team.

Speaker 4 (40:24):
Don't forget cancer. He's back.

Speaker 2 (40:26):
He's he They needed him. They need a big butt
post guy to kind of muscles some people around down there.
They didn't real didn't have that. He's that guy.

Speaker 4 (40:33):
And we know what William Harrison's can do from a
year ago. But I think Archie's gonna bring a level
of play we they need. Also, he was good for
another team last year on the TVT.

Speaker 2 (40:42):
Eight five nine two two too, having another Calleween get
on real quick, we got chanting Fred Fred Go ahead, Fred.

Speaker 12 (40:51):
Yeah, go ahead, FREDI yeah, I uh, you know all
I'm talking about.

Speaker 7 (41:03):
I'm familiar.

Speaker 12 (41:04):
It's like a semi pro team that least put together or.

Speaker 8 (41:10):
Working.

Speaker 2 (41:11):
I watched, and I watched, Okay, appreciate Fred. Some of
the games are televised that he could probably pick them up.

Speaker 4 (41:17):
Yeah, it's all just one. It's not just kind of televised.
It's nationally televised f S two, f's one, and then
the Fox Sports Channel various games.

Speaker 2 (41:25):
But Fred, this is a tournament across the country called
the Basketball Tournament really original title, the Basketball Tournament TVT
for short TVT and they're playing for one million dollars.
So a lot of schools, like I think Auburn has
a school that's in the a team that's in the
Lexington bracket in regional. Yeah, so Louisville they have a
team and their their bracket. So different schools are kind

(41:48):
of compiled a bunch of former players to play as
a team. And the Kentucky team is the one we
kind of got behind last year and they're back again
this year. He's gone.

Speaker 4 (41:57):
Yep. As long as they're not on the current Entucky
team or in the NBA Pro players overseas pro players
can play.

Speaker 2 (42:04):
They're eligible.

Speaker 4 (42:04):
That's how we have several that are still playing professionally
right now. But just can't be in the NBA or
in college.

Speaker 2 (42:10):
I did hear Khalil Whitney gave an interview after the
charity event and said, man, I just want to get
Kentucky fans back on my side. I want to earn
their respect again and be a feel a part of
this Kentucky family. Kind of broke my heart when I
heard him say that.

Speaker 4 (42:21):
I'm really looking forward to hearing from him today and
then later in the week when we have him. You know,
I'm not gonna excuse stepping away from the team mid
season and leaving the way he did. He shouldn't have
done that, but you know, he was a kid. Some
bad advice. Bad people are not bad people around the
probably wouldn't getting the best advice for what he did.
And I just want to hear how that happened, how
he's doing.

Speaker 2 (42:41):
DJ Burns not just only played at Southern, played at
Murray State. Also apparently something just said and the Klotic
people confirmed the bet that Matt made was about Jessir.

Speaker 4 (42:49):
We got to start start listening more.

Speaker 2 (42:51):
I get in trouble sometimes I kind of tune out.
All Right, that's going to do it for position. I
think it's worts Radio, Drew's off for a couple of days.
We'll have Myron Metcalf in the big chair tomorrow. Beturned
