Welcome to Hour two of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by
Stockton Mortgage. Now here's Matt Jones.
Speaker 4 (01:07):
Having a great conversation in the break there with Mario.
His brother is playing basketball in China, and I was like,
we were like, we want to go visit him, and
he said no, and then he admits he doesn't ever
want to go anywhere, which, like, Shannon, wouldn't you want
to just visit China? Like if your brother was playing
basketball in China and you had a free place to stay,
(01:29):
wouldn't you want to go to China and just see it?
Speaker 5 (01:31):
Give me a good reason to go to China.
Speaker 4 (01:33):
Wouldn't you?
Speaker 6 (01:33):
Oh, I want to go everywhere in the world. I
just can't afford.
Speaker 4 (01:36):
It me too. Why wouldn't you want to go? Would you?
Speaker 7 (01:39):
Absolutely? Especially right now, your brother's there.
Speaker 4 (01:41):
Is playing there. He is in China. He's out there,
he's getting he's hitting the tray. You can face, I understand.
But the point is like, it's a big it's a
big world out there, Mario. There's so much happening, and
we're only on this earth for a little time. And
if you are blessed enough to be able to have
a chance to see another whole thing, wouldn't you want
(02:07):
to do it? Your brother's getting to do it, You said,
your brother likes it. Non China.
Speaker 7 (02:12):
Okay, what you know, Mario? Did you think a big trip?
They went to Chicago a couple of weeks ago.
Speaker 4 (02:16):
No, that's nice, But I mean I took When I
took you to through Indiana and Wisconsin, your eyes got
so big. You were like, there's windmills. If you think
Indiana wind mills are crazy, go see what's in China.
You've checked off.
Speaker 6 (02:29):
All America when we went to Seattle. What's lot to
see here?
Speaker 4 (02:32):
All right, I'm getting you to check you you need
to go see.
Speaker 6 (02:34):
Your brother KSR. Does China next summer?
Speaker 4 (02:36):
Yeah, well that's that's an undertaking eight five nine twenty
two eighty seven. Uh text machine is seven seven two
uh seven seven four five two five four. I've had
some people write the text machine who know Tyler agree
with me? Looks like look like that guy. Yeah. I
can't have been the first person in his life to
have told him that while this was going uh well,
this was going on a couple things here. First of all,
(02:56):
Shannon uh rads you know, back on track.
Speaker 7 (03:01):
Yeah, here we go.
Speaker 4 (03:02):
When I left, we were two and a half back
of the wildcard. When I come back, we're two and
a half back. It's been a rocky time. Yeah, we
near it. We lost once to the Rockies, but then
we came back won the series against the Mets. I
was at the game Friday night. Okay, yes, I went
to the game Friday night. Cheered them on. They almost
blew it. They were up eight to two, but almost
(03:22):
blew it. But uh, it's fun to watch the Mets fans.
They boo their players so quickly, like they make one mistake,
and which makes it a lot better because they're just
a h I enjoyed the All Star Game. Did you
watch the All Star Game?
Speaker 7 (03:40):
Did you like the ending?
Speaker 4 (03:41):
Loved it? I did it too, man, loved it.
Speaker 7 (03:43):
I think it was great for baseball.
Speaker 4 (03:45):
I didn't like that half the players had already gone home.
Speaker 6 (03:47):
That was odd.
Speaker 4 (03:48):
That was odd because I was like, oh, when they
announced what it was gonna be, I was like, Oh,
you're gonna get show Hay and Aaron Judge Nope, and
it's gonna be awesome. And then they were like, well
they left.
Speaker 6 (03:58):
It's not often you get a Holly game and people
in it just leave reservation.
Speaker 4 (04:03):
But it was great. I mean, I don't Shannon, I
wouldn't want them to do that for the regular season,
but I think for the All Star Game that was
kind of awesome.
Speaker 3 (04:11):
Yeah, for the All Star Game, I mean the alternative
would be just in the game and a tie. That
right there is a lot more entertaining. So I like,
yea for the All Star Game.
Speaker 4 (04:18):
Is I loved it. I thought it was awesome. I
thought it was very cool.
Speaker 2 (04:21):
Well, for the All Star Game, you gotta baseball got
to do something to generate some interest. Perfect time to
do something like that, have a home run derby swing off.
Speaker 3 (04:28):
I did have to admit I didn't know that was
a rule, and I didn't bringing out the batting cages
like We're just gonna have a home run derby right
here in the.
Speaker 4 (04:34):
Middle of the game and a lot of pressure. You
only get three swings and you got to knock it out.
Speaker 7 (04:40):
Kyle Schwarber hit three.
Speaker 4 (04:42):
And then uh, you know, Shannon the welliver you drew
as well. We get reds and braves at the Bristol
Motor Speedway a week Saturday.
Speaker 6 (04:49):
Heck yeah, braves are still not very good. But did
you see our boy Ronald Acooney over the weekend? That
was pretty amazing scene. That is maybe the best so
we have that dial though, but maybe we should get
a little a little fun wager on it.
Speaker 4 (05:06):
Perhaps, Yeah, us, okay, yeah, let's see who's pitching. We
got waiting.
Speaker 6 (05:11):
Seo's injured for us.
Speaker 4 (05:12):
But the but they they showed the uniforms, kind of
cool uniforms. They're making the numbers look like NASCAR numbers. Yeah.
Speaker 8 (05:19):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (05:19):
They've got checkered flags on the Red's hat and what's
on the Braves hateames? Flames?
Speaker 5 (05:24):
Yeah, flames.
Speaker 4 (05:26):
I'll buy that checkered flat flag hat, but just to
have it. Uh.
Speaker 7 (05:30):
The field looks awesome too.
Speaker 4 (05:31):
The field looks awesome. I wasn't gonna go, but now
I kind of want to go. It's not very far no,
you know.
Speaker 7 (05:36):
So do they guess they could probably give you opportunity
to buy tickets. Being a season.
Speaker 4 (05:39):
I probably could get a press credential too from ESPN
because they're doing the fifty States in fifty days. They're
doing it there and Marty and McGee are going to
be there. We were talking about it, so I probably
could even get press creditial. It'd be cool. So I
will see. But anyway, Reds are still in it.
Speaker 6 (05:56):
Braves are not really in it. But it'll be good
to get some excitement behind our two teams when the
season are gone.
Speaker 4 (06:02):
Still summer veiling Nick Ladolo and uh, there's only a
couple of players I hate. So everything's going good.
Speaker 7 (06:10):
If Sonny Green had stayed healthy, get Sonny Green.
Speaker 4 (06:19):
Like three years. Oh good, old Sonny Green. Sounds like
a comedian from the fifties, Sonny Green. But but yeah,
the All Star Game, all that was fun. That's more
of that than I've watched in a in a long time.
Will Levis Drew is going to be out for the year.
He's going to have surgery on his shoulder, will be
out for the year. Bummer for will Levis. Odd that
(06:42):
he's announcing it now, are you? But like out for
the year is well. Will Love is playing the NFL again,
hot take. I think this would be good for his value.
I think if he had played it all, especially if
he has a lingering issue, it just would have been bad.
The Titans are so bad, the line still stinks, especially
like cam Ward. I think he's putting a bad spot.
I think if Levis takes a year off, gets his
(07:03):
shoulder healthy, it might be his best chance a year
from now to still have hope. So I'm taking kind
of the counterpoint that the Titans sucks so much that
him taking a year off will help him. It's very
much like now Couch had more success than Will, but
it's a similar thing Ryan that happened to Couch. Hurt
his shoulder, had to sit out a year, then has
to come back. And do you think Will Levis will
play again?
Speaker 7 (07:23):
I think Drew hit it.
Speaker 2 (07:23):
I think this year off may help him because if
he tries to play, gets beat up again, has another
bad year, his stock that is going to continue to
go down. Why not take a year off, get healthy,
and come back stronger next year with somebody else.
Speaker 4 (07:35):
Yeah, I hope so, I hope so for him. I
want it to work out for him, But he's.
Speaker 6 (07:40):
Never had a fair shot. Diehard Titans fan here. They
put him in a horrible spot.
Speaker 4 (07:43):
It is a shame that our two big quarterbacks of
the last twenty five years went to the NFL to
just terrible situation.
Speaker 7 (07:51):
And somehow Tipcot still got the Browns to the playoffs.
Speaker 4 (07:54):
That's what he did.
Speaker 7 (07:55):
It's amazing he was able to do that on that
horrible team.
Speaker 4 (07:57):
Ahead Well, I hope he ends up. I hope he
gets better. I hope it works out for him, but
I was surprised. I mean, he didn't have surgery in
the entire offseason and now waiting to do it right
now seems like a really odd thing to me.
Speaker 6 (08:10):
The timing is suspect you had all these months to
get it ready and try to salvage a little bit
of a season. Might even mean that he's kind of
taking my angle and really thinking it could help.
Speaker 4 (08:21):
For reasons that I'll talk more about in a few weeks.
I'm having Shannon actually know the NFL this year. Yeah,
like for real, Oh my goodness, there's so many players,
a lot of teams, you know. I mean, I know
I've hosted an NFL show for seven or eight years,
(08:43):
but I'm gonna actually kind of have to know some
stuff this year.
Speaker 3 (08:46):
And yeah, like the starters on both sides of the.
Speaker 4 (08:50):
Ball, I'm not gonna know that, but I'm gonna need
to know more than the quarterback, the coach and like
one guy, I'm gonna need to know more than that
to show.
Speaker 7 (09:02):
The new soupal at ESPN now or something.
Speaker 4 (09:04):
We're not gonna talk. I've just got something cooking, and
I just I had to spend some of this break learning.
You never told me that the NFL would be what
I would do. I didn't even used to watch it.
I didn't even I did not even care about it
(09:25):
at all. Well, they know, he said in the interview,
I got, Well I did. That was one of my
selling points. You're like a blank. Can they can hold
you anything about this? So Mark Anthony, go ahead, Mark.
Speaker 9 (09:40):
Anthony, Matre and Shannon uh A Fellas owned the lot familiar.
Matt uh our Collar day first Collar of the Day
towed him to share his situation, his tribulations with his family. Matt, Yes,
and he knows that he's going to get. He's going
(10:01):
to get. It's his nation. We're a nation, we're a family.
There's not another team in this tournament that can wear
that name, Mat, And you don't need to have anything
about Kentucky in that name for everybody to know who
that is. The family. It's dudes that have played here
and dudes that never got to play here but wanted to.
(10:22):
It's the family. Dudes you want to play for their home.
And I'm telling you, Matt, as far as I'm concerned,
you can keep it bile familiar, or you can switch
it to English and call it the family. But you
don't dare lose that family.
Speaker 4 (10:35):
Okay, I like that. That's a good case, Mark, that's
a good case.
Speaker 9 (10:39):
Okay, and brother, be tween you and me. Whenentucky, Matt
if graders are coming with that, brother, can't you do
a little better?
Speaker 4 (10:49):
I did. I was just now. I gave you a compliment. Mark,
I appreciate the cost.
Speaker 5 (10:53):
It doesn't like Blue Kentucky either than.
Speaker 4 (10:55):
Blue Kentucky didn't like that one. I will say, you know,
you see this. One of the things I like about
the tvt and watching these games is I do I
do love the way Kentucky embraces oh yeah, and you know,
to be fair to them. Louisville does the same thing.
I mean, these two, these two schools, the way Kentucky
and Louisville use this event to connect with their alumni,
(11:19):
it's just awesome to me. I mean, Mantras, Harold takes
a private jet to make sure he gets back to
the game. That's cool. It just is that is a
cool thing that he was willing to do that all
these UK guys and then watching the current team celebrating
with the past guys on the floor Drew. That's that's
awesome to me. I mean I watched Otega away I
(11:41):
guess it was with Doron Lamb and they were like
tapping it up after the game. How can you not
love that if you're a Kentucky fan. That's the best
part in all this. The current team was at both
games in the crowd and as you said, celebrating with
them afterwards. Sean Woods in his interview, he's talking about
the game, the close call they had, but he also
talked about how where it is and how fun is
that these guys get to be Kentucky basketball players again.
(12:03):
I mean, you're Kentucky basketball player forever. But they're coming
back and actually playing in front of fans and doing
these events, and as we've mentioned guys like Archie and Khalill,
it's a good reset for them. But it's also just
good for Willie to have that moment too, and these
other Harrisons guys that are at the end.
Speaker 6 (12:17):
Of their pro career.
Speaker 4 (12:18):
To ask me, give me three of the five UK
players that I think were the fans were the hardest
one during the cal era. I would say to you
Archie Yes, Andrew Harrison, Khalil Whitney you go, and then
probably like Ryan Harrow and Devon ask you and maybe
Severe Wheeler common denominated by the way all guards cal
(12:40):
put so much pressure on the guards that if they
didn't play. But I don't know that we'll ever get
that moment with Devin ask you or or Ryan Harrow.
Maybe we get it with Severe Wheeler one day, we'll see.
But those other three, it's nice that they still come
back and they get to have these moments.
Speaker 2 (12:55):
And that's the way where they when they said down
one is they all three kind of said that, man,
we want to come back and feel the low. Maybe
some that we missed that a little bit when we
were here first time.
Speaker 4 (13:03):
Come back.
Speaker 2 (13:03):
We the Twins said they want to come back for
a second year. Willie comes back for a second year
because of that love they felt from the fan base,
not for the basketball from the fans. That's why they
came back.
Speaker 4 (13:11):
Jeremy, go ahead, Jeremy, Yeah.
Speaker 10 (13:17):
Guys, I was just gonna talk about lot familiar there.
I watched the third quarter of the last of the game,
and the funniest thing for me, the best thing I
thought it was really great. I agree with you all
about like guy's playing for thewaians CA playing but at
the end of the game there was an issue with
the There was a call on the court and the
referees got together on the sidelines with the coaches were
(13:38):
right the side of them, and Auburn coach goes, you
can't do that to my guys. I know it's Kentucky
and they paid you, but you still can't do that
to my gus.
Speaker 4 (13:46):
He say, they paid you. I didn't hear that. That's funny.
Speaker 10 (13:49):
Yes, it was the funniest thing I heard about set
out in the forward laugh and I was like, oh
my gosh, it's the greatest thinger the That's what I
like about it is because it's just like regular guys
playing ball.
Speaker 4 (14:00):
It is. I appreciate the call. I didn't hear that.
I love listening to the refs be miked up because
they didn't know the rules. Like they were sitting there
arguing about the ten second violation and it was clear
no one knew what. I don't know where they got
those referees, but they probably ought to stay in that division.
Whatever it was.
Speaker 6 (14:18):
I'm trying to remember the exact quote, but they caught
a great moment of Sean Wood's arguing with the ref
and he's like, I'm on you, I'm on, you don't
even know what you're doing. You don't even know the rules.
Speaker 4 (14:26):
But he was right. They didn't know.
Speaker 6 (14:28):
He's like, I caught you, but I've enjoyed that. I'm
surprised we didn't get salt to your language with the
coaches miked up, but it's fun hearing them go back
and forth with the refs.
Speaker 4 (14:36):
There's no doubt that they did not know what was
going on during that situation. Lexington SC versus Louisville City
is here this Saturday seven o'clock. The Commonwealth Cup presented
by Republic Bank is happening. We need your support. The
LSC men's team needs your support. Lex Sporting dot com Drew,
I'm sure you're gonna be there.
Speaker 6 (14:56):
Got my tickets, got my jersey?
Speaker 4 (14:58):
You got one of the icy Yeah? I got an ice?
Speaker 6 (15:02):
It is in that box.
Speaker 4 (15:04):
Yes. How did the Lexington s C beat UK to
an ice?
Speaker 7 (15:10):
They took advantage of it.
Speaker 6 (15:11):
I'm gonna get yours right now, I can.
Speaker 4 (15:13):
Yes, I didn't even know about this. Well, they're gonna
be wearing them Saturday at the Commonwealth Cup. Go to
Lex Sporting dot com. That's gonna be a great event.
Let me, this is gonna.
Speaker 7 (15:24):
Box this morning.
Speaker 6 (15:25):
It's got your name money.
Speaker 4 (15:26):
Look, wow, that is that is fire. Go to Alex
Sporting dot com, get this icicle jersey and go watch them.
We'll be right back to k s R. I like
this song, Shannon, that's good. You know.
Speaker 5 (15:44):
Yeah, they're still good, but.
Speaker 4 (15:45):
They're not as Gonnas say once was. But they'll be
good in one game or one play a brother. I
saw on TikTok a version of the Avian Brothers doing
this song in Louisville.
Speaker 5 (15:56):
Oh really, okay, I haven't seen their version.
Speaker 4 (15:58):
Of it, and it's it's really good. I don't know,
you wouldn't have thought they would do a Toby Key song,
but it's really good. I think they did it maybe
right after he died, and so I keep it saved
on my TikTok. One person writes, Matt, I don't understand
why Mario would not want to go to China, gets
to see his brother, gets to see a foreign country.
Is there any foreign country Mario would want to go to?
(16:20):
Any foreign country at all? Get on the microphone here,
get onto here, anywhere you would want to go Spain anywhere.
You just said you didn't want to go to Spain.
We're going to do that walk next April. Yeah, no, no, no,
I mean you understand that's a forty day walk and
it's in Spain. Spain, you're you haven't agreed to it yet. Jerusalem.
I know that's going now. If you've been following the news.
Speaker 6 (16:44):
Yeah, that's true.
Speaker 4 (16:44):
I don't want to go to here, I mean not
right now. Rome. Okay, so forty day walk.
Speaker 6 (16:51):
Like we can do that forty day walk.
Speaker 4 (16:53):
Okay. Another person writes, I agree with Mario. They detain
foreign people in China for nothing. Danger. Hey, you've been
watching the news man, you can see what's happening here.
Try Tomorrio.
Speaker 6 (17:07):
Your boy boy, Bronni will be in China soon. You
can go watch him play.
Speaker 4 (17:11):
That's true, that's exactly right.
Speaker 6 (17:14):
Maybe you'll be playing against your brother.
Speaker 4 (17:16):
And you can go see Brianni flaying. That would that
would get him there?
Speaker 7 (17:21):
I would get him there.
Speaker 4 (17:23):
Yeah. Well I bought my h I bought my South
Africa plane ticket yesterday. Yeah, not cheap. I went ahead
and just doing the direct flight both, are you? Yeah?
Fourteen hours one way, fifteen hours.
Speaker 2 (17:37):
The other way, you got like a first class seat.
We got a little bed you can sleep in.
Speaker 4 (17:40):
You don't have to know what kind of class I'm flying.
Speaker 7 (17:44):
I want I want to fly one time in his
little beds.
Speaker 4 (17:47):
You have to go overseas. Now they don't do that,
like in ANSTIC flight.
Speaker 6 (17:51):
You can't take that down to Panama City.
Speaker 4 (17:53):
They don't have.
Speaker 6 (17:55):
The destined flight, doesn't have the pods.
Speaker 4 (17:57):
Allegiate flight from the allegiate flight a Myrtle beach does
not have a lay flat bed.
Speaker 6 (18:03):
Uh what do you do to pass the time on
a fourteen hour flight?
Speaker 4 (18:07):
Well, I did bite the bullet and buy the because
I can't sit up that long. Yea, so I bought
the lay flat.
Speaker 7 (18:13):
Are they big enough? I mean you're six four if
you're do.
Speaker 4 (18:16):
That, but like in a regular seat that would be.
But it's I mean it's fifteen hours. You know they
serve you multiple meals.
Speaker 7 (18:23):
Yeah, but it's a long that's a long way.
Speaker 6 (18:27):
Very dollar movies.
Speaker 4 (18:28):
Do you read?
Speaker 6 (18:29):
You try to sleep?
Speaker 4 (18:30):
Try to sleep? Not well, I will do I'll do
like TV shows movies read. But it's a long time.
I mean you just get restless. You know, you can
walk around like, they'll let you do a lap. Yeah,
so I'll do that, but it's a long time. I'm
I'm dreading the flight. I'm looking forward to the trip,
but I'm I'm dreading the flight fifteen hours and I
(18:52):
saw the itinerary of what we're doing. We're going scuba diving.
That's gonna be a problem for me. I like it.
I don't.
Speaker 7 (18:59):
It's whim stay in the boat that day.
Speaker 6 (19:02):
This is more of a dive than a swim.
Speaker 4 (19:05):
I mean, I can die. The question is gonna come back?
I certainly can fall in. The question is well I
get back out? Uh repelling down a mountain three nights,
three nights in the Krueger National Park, Uh Safari Reserve.
Speaker 6 (19:24):
That'll be fun.
Speaker 4 (19:24):
Ye, keep you protecting? So I get this in theory C.
They say we might see a giraffe, a lion, an elephant.
You know they're gonna I don't really like dogs, so
this is gonna be a step up for that for me.
Speaker 6 (19:42):
Trying new things. Yeah, we had famed uh South African
Aidan larrois Kentucky's punter last week, and I tried to
get tips for you, but we ran on the show. Yeah,
we had him on to talk about his toughness. He's
got a good personality. I don't want to say there's
a potential to add a new foreign punter to a
ks R road trip down the Road.
Speaker 4 (20:02):
Was pretty much you ask him for tips for when
I got I.
Speaker 6 (20:04):
Had it on my list. We we got up against
the Hart.
Speaker 4 (20:07):
Asking what I should do in South Africa. Well, media
days coming, I guess, yeah, wow, Well we had so
much to get to with him.
Speaker 6 (20:15):
I had it written down. We just didn't get to it.
Speaker 4 (20:17):
Well. The itinerary is a lot of that kind of stuff,
you know, and it's it's uh, I mean they're good
for you. There's historical stuff. There's like going and seeing
Mendela things. But then there's like they, oh I have
to go see penguins.
Speaker 6 (20:31):
It'll be fun.
Speaker 4 (20:33):
Yeah, an octopus, Like, uh, did you see the net
We talked about this, that Netflix documentary My Octopus Teacher.
Speaker 6 (20:41):
They're there so I can South Africa. Yes, what are
you most nervous about? The repelling or the scuba diving.
Speaker 5 (20:47):
Or the octopus or the flight.
Speaker 4 (20:49):
I mean really, none of it is pleasant. It's like
you signing a couple of things. I'm looking forward to
seeing all the like we're going to like the prison
where they held Mandela. So I think that history is
going to be really fascinating. I'm looking forward to being
in a completely different country. Like while I love Europe
(21:13):
and have been there a bunch, it is in the
ballpark of America. It's different, definitely different, but in the ballpark, sure,
But like Mexico in rural Mexico is a different world.
This is going to be a different world. So I'm
looking forward to that. I'm very much not looking forward
to the flights, just I don't like to fly, and
(21:35):
then that long, it's just a long time. I also
want to challenge my I mean like this is a
this is like there's part of me that goes you
know what, I'm right there at middle age.
Speaker 6 (21:49):
Is this a midlife crisis?
Speaker 4 (21:50):
It's not midlife crisis. I mean I have to go
for this fellowship. I didn't pick this place. Like they
we were supposed to go to Israel, and then they
were like can't there, can't go to Israel. But this
was supposed to be a trip to Israel. So this
is playing B plan B. So they switched from Israel
to South Africa. But yeah, there's a sense of this
(22:12):
is like, you know, you're in your middle of your life.
If you're not gonna do this now, Ryan, when you
do it? You know what I mean? Like, when are
you gonna do something like that?
Speaker 7 (22:18):
No, wife, no kids, just might as well have experienced
life like this. You said you read the itinerary?
Speaker 2 (22:23):
Is there another like play like you had to? You
had to you guys had to play one time?
Speaker 4 (22:28):
When No, No, we it's this is we have a
lot of speakers. So like we're going to the South
African Presidential Palace, We're going to the South African Parliament,
that kind of stuff, Elon's boyhood home. I don't know
if that's on the I don't know if that's on
there or not, but we'll see. I'm looking forward to it.
(22:49):
But buying that flight.
Speaker 7 (22:51):
I want to ask you a question that I don't
know the answer to. Is it safe where you're going?
Speaker 4 (22:56):
I mean we should hope. No, it is like it
it's like any other city. Like if you talk to Europeans,
they'll say America is so dangerous. Yeah, not really. It's
only dangerous if you go to the wrong parts at
the wrong times. And if you mind Joe Buszy you
know what I mean, Like it's it's more dangerous there
than it is here, but it's all it's mostly tied
(23:17):
to drug trafficking. Then I'm gonna stay. I'm way, I'm
not even gonna take my cornbread hemp. So, I mean,
I think it's gonna be. I think it's gonna be
all right, We'll take a Breakay five, nine, eight, twenty
two eighty seven's KSR. TJ. Smith, personal injury attorney called TJ.
He'll make them pay.
Speaker 3 (23:35):
Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Speaker 5 (23:39):
Here's Matt Jones.
Speaker 4 (23:40):
Welcome back Tucky Sports Radio. Yeah. The only thing the
negative is I'm gonna miss the Eastern Michigan football game.
What Eastern Michigan and South Carolina, and then I'll be
back for the Georgia.
Speaker 7 (23:53):
Gain two wins. You'll miss two Kentucky wins.
Speaker 4 (23:56):
For four and oh right there for four and oh
my flight lay in Atlanta. I'll just go down to
Athens and watch the gate. We'll meet there. Yeah, me, me,
me in.
Speaker 7 (24:04):
The ships where you were going. I started to get
sucked in already here this.
Speaker 4 (24:08):
Yeah, I want to hang on. I want to talk
about that in just a second. If I'm nine two
eighth twenty two eighty seven, let's go to Jake. Go ahead, Jake, Hi,
you doing what's up?
Speaker 11 (24:24):
I just want to say you talked to you mentioned
the Lexington SC lou City soccer game, and I'm from Lexton,
but I've lived in Louisville now for a few years
and I've been a supporter of Louisville City since before
Lexton SC was a thing, And now the Lecson SC
is around, I kind of find myself here and for
them being down a little bit and it's still kind
of blasphemous to me. Yeah, I just want to get
(24:46):
your input.
Speaker 4 (24:46):
Yeah, I mean, that's that's a tough thing because I
would I like, I went to some Louisville City games
and like, it's tough because we didn't think we'd have
a team in Lexington. But even though I got nothing
against Louisville City, I'm not anti Louisville City. I'm still
you got to switch to Lexington now, at least I do,
do you.
Speaker 6 (25:04):
It was an easy to switch.
Speaker 11 (25:05):
That's what I got. I got all the merch now,
I got all the Loose City merch and stuff.
Speaker 4 (25:09):
So yeah, that's tough. I appreciate it. I appreciate the call.
That's a hard situation, and I could say, can you
I think you could cheer for them both.
Speaker 6 (25:19):
If it gets to where we wanted to be. We
want a nasty rivalry. I think maybe right now, why
it's fresh, you're you can be in a little awkward
gray area figuring things out. But in time you got
to pick a side. Do you think you have to
come over?
Speaker 4 (25:31):
Probably? Yeah.
Speaker 6 (25:31):
I've been to Louisville City many times. They took good
care of me. I have a jersey, you have a scarf.
I've worn the purple, but Lexington ron. You know where
I live. I can from my front porch to my seat.
It's like six minutes. That's got to be my team.
It's Lexington. So I'm hanging up my purple and wearing green.
Speaker 2 (25:45):
I can see that guy maybe going to other Louisville
City games, you know, and support them then.
Speaker 7 (25:50):
But if they're being Lexington.
Speaker 4 (25:51):
I've flipped. I'd still root for the Louisville the women's team, yeah,
and I would root for like a Louisville NBA team,
But the at Lexington gets a team, I have to shift, right,
because icicles. Look at that. Yeah, I mean they're Kentucky,
They're in Louisville. This is this is Lexington.
Speaker 6 (26:10):
Tony Delk put out a video preview in the Commonwealth
cup Away Rock in the Jersey. They they're attaching themselves
to the UK. They that's what they should do, that's
what they should.
Speaker 4 (26:18):
Judy is in Mount Sterling, Judy, Hey, how are you
all good? What's up?
Speaker 12 (26:26):
Well? Good Matt, I'm glad you had a safe and
great trip.
Speaker 4 (26:31):
Thank you.
Speaker 12 (26:32):
Who came up with the name Lethamula? Where did that
name come from?
Speaker 4 (26:38):
Le Famula? Uh? Le Famula was from John cal Perry.
He came up with it. I think they did have
something to do with Drake. I can't remember. I just
know he wanted the Italian version. I said, but but
lo familia is Spanish, so that's a good point. But yes,
it's it's a it's a cow thing, and I want
(26:58):
to say, maybe it had a great connection, although that
might is it? Am I right about that? Yeah?
Speaker 5 (27:03):
It's Drake, even more reason to change the name.
Speaker 4 (27:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 12 (27:07):
From that, well, I tell you, I've never I've never
seen Mario before, so I got to watch the fast
reaction or rapid reaction the other night after the game,
and he and Zach did a great job.
Speaker 4 (27:30):
What are you gonna say, what's to give me a
quick one?
Speaker 12 (27:33):
Okay, quick one wild cat fever? Uh cat scratch fever.
But we didn't get approval from Bob Seger to do that.
Speaker 4 (27:47):
Well, I appreciate the call, Judy, thank you. I think
fever she wants the fever in it. Ye, you were
in the team celebration. Mario is Mario. Literally, he essentially
plays for the team.
Speaker 6 (27:59):
I saw this last year while you were gone. When
they're at rop Arena, they're credentialed media. You get to
go to media areas, but when you walk with Mario,
it's like you're walking in with the team president.
Speaker 4 (28:10):
Exactly.
Speaker 6 (28:10):
There's like no area Mario can't go.
Speaker 4 (28:12):
He's He's Travis Kelcey at a Taylor Swift can exactly.
That is exactly who he is. Mario is the most
important person at a Lah Familia game.
Speaker 6 (28:21):
There might be like, hey, we well we're not supposed
to be here. I'm with Mario. Oh We're sorry, sorry
about that.
Speaker 4 (28:25):
We didn't know your Mario.
Speaker 2 (28:26):
He's behind the bench with DJ Burns, celebrating with the crowd,
getting everybody jacked up.
Speaker 4 (28:31):
This that's our He's the connection to the family. Brenda,
go ahead, Brenda, Hey, good.
Speaker 5 (28:42):
Good, it's gotta be the call the day that is.
Speaker 4 (28:49):
Going to be our Yeah. Well, you know what, thank
you for checking in. I'm doing really well, So why
are you getting sucked in by Mark Stoops?
Speaker 2 (28:59):
He gave a little uh not at the podium, but
he gave like a little press commerce for.
Speaker 7 (29:03):
The local media.
Speaker 13 (29:04):
You know.
Speaker 2 (29:04):
It was like uh, Nick and Adam Luckett and John
Hale and Dick Gabriel, like the local guys. And I
saw some mad cocky, ticked off Mark Stoops that I
used to see, you know, five six, seven years ago,
Like I feel like maybe he's bringing that back, that attitude.
So that got me sucked in, Like yeah, man, that's
that's what I need to hear from my coauggests.
Speaker 4 (29:25):
And he sounded motivated.
Speaker 7 (29:27):
I believe he was very motivated.
Speaker 5 (29:30):
Grateful. We switched to grateful while you were gone.
Speaker 4 (29:33):
Oh it's grateful.
Speaker 6 (29:37):
Nick roush Nick. The first question in the big ballroom
at the OMNI Nick Raush Kentucky Sports Radio. I mean
to everyone I'm watching live at TV on on SEC Network,
Nick Roush Tuxy Sports Radio. Mark, how motivated would you
say you are?
Speaker 4 (29:55):
Was the first question? First question? First question? And what
did ye?
Speaker 6 (30:00):
You could see by his facial expression he's aware of.
Do you think Mark Stoops likes Nick?
Speaker 4 (30:06):
Oh?
Speaker 6 (30:06):
Yeah, I think he does, because I.
Speaker 4 (30:08):
Mean in the last two years he's made fun of
Stoops for going ball. Yes, he's brought up the motivated thing,
like does he like him?
Speaker 5 (30:15):
Nick's getting a little too comfortable, don't you think?
Speaker 6 (30:18):
But that's what we want? What are you gonna do?
But Mark, how's the team?
Speaker 4 (30:20):
Look?
Speaker 6 (30:21):
How's the light? How's Zach? How's I know? He witched
straight to how motivated a Mark? And that was the story.
Speaker 4 (30:26):
Mark.
Speaker 6 (30:27):
He's aware of the memes. It was very clear. I
don't think he likes them. He says he does not
like He said something like this is like a little
game the media is playing bringing on or something like that.
He said, I consider myself more grateful and because the
internet is the Internet, all the memes, that's like we've
not we I didn't do it, but they flipped a
switch in the meme making factory and they all say grateful.
Speaker 3 (30:45):
Like train hands, drink and maybe maybe a smoke and
it said motivate theor's fire.
Speaker 4 (30:53):
Someone redid it and it says grateful. Someone send me
the grateful ones. I haven't seen them. Will you send me?
Speaker 8 (30:59):
So?
Speaker 6 (31:00):
But that was the headline.
Speaker 4 (31:01):
He prefer motivated. Why why won't they just embrace it,
just embrace the motor like, none of this is going
to matter if we lose anyway.
Speaker 7 (31:10):
Well, why not just lean into it?
Speaker 4 (31:11):
Leaning? Why is he great?
Speaker 6 (31:13):
Well?
Speaker 4 (31:13):
What's he grateful about? He's been getting blasted for a
year by people.
Speaker 5 (31:17):
What this is?
Speaker 6 (31:17):
Back to my original? Like Ryan loved it, like we
we saw a drank kool aid. I saw it as
more of just getting a little defensive and you know,
not wanting to make the headline.
Speaker 4 (31:28):
I didn't hear any of this. You don't think he
was defensive. Oh that doesn't really look like a grateful Okay, okay,
now that's grateful. He's prayer. He's praying. Yeah, okay, yeah,
there we go. All right, that's on ks R plus.
Speaker 6 (31:44):
Okay, Yeah, we're just it's a Twitter had fun with
it two but it's now great.
Speaker 4 (31:47):
Crystal, Yeah I got that one. That's good. But you
liked it, You think this is good stuff? He's not
kneeling like that. That's funny, motivating gratitude. Okay, I like that.
Speaker 7 (31:59):
I like you know, his face gets a little red
and the veins pop out, and he's next, and you
get ticked off, Mark, Stoop. That's what I thought I
need this.
Speaker 5 (32:05):
Year, hands Mark.
Speaker 4 (32:07):
But is there a difference between There is a difference
between being like, just keeps showing me, you're just showing
me and him in pope like Pope poses like the Pope.
You think that he's gonna you think him angry and
being sort of mean to the media is the way
(32:28):
to go. I think.
Speaker 7 (32:29):
So he needs that chip on his shoulder. They seem
to do better, the team does better. He does better
when he's got that chip on his shoulder. And now
I feel like he's got it right now, so I
love it.
Speaker 4 (32:38):
Yeah, he doesn't like Nick Rouse, right, He can't. He
gets because Nick asked him like.
Speaker 6 (32:44):
Two years ago. Nick said, Mark, when are you coming home?
And it was at the time I always kind of rumored,
and Stoop's eyes get big, like are you asking me
about the Iowa job right now? And then Nick points
at Nick's own bald head. It's like, no, come home.
To the point I would not say that to him.
I was standing behind the camera and I had to
with both hands pick my jaw off the carpet in Nashville.
Speaker 4 (33:04):
It's like Nick feels like he has a comfort level
with these people. I like it though, I mean, I
guess it works. Just blending and you're saying he you
think Stoops does like it?
Speaker 6 (33:16):
Raush, Yes, I do not think he likes the motivated
talk this summer. So you don't think he likes those memes.
I'm not one percent of him likes him. He seemed
to get very red and defensive when.
Speaker 4 (33:26):
Asked, see, I don't know why he wouldn't because, like,
to me, that's his personality because he says motivated all
the time. So now is he like intentionally not saying
the word.
Speaker 6 (33:36):
Seems like it. He said, I've just as motive, as
motivated as I've been every year. Nothing's changed. He even
said that he's not kind of hiding like a lot
of people think he has this offseason, being more quiet. Yeah,
he said, I'm just doing what I've always done.
Speaker 4 (33:48):
But that's not true.
Speaker 6 (33:50):
I agree, that's what was said. Okay, that that got
Ryan on board to the original word.
Speaker 4 (33:58):
So you're you're on board.
Speaker 7 (33:59):
I feel a lot better about the season than I
did before last week.
Speaker 4 (34:03):
All right, so let's see who's on board, who's off board.
Shandon's been on board winning season. Are you on you're
on board?
Speaker 7 (34:11):
I'm not there to maybe the six and six?
Speaker 4 (34:14):
Are you on board or not? I'm on board, on board?
Are you on board? If on board if it means
six wins, no, yeah, I'm not. I don't think I'm
on board yet.
Speaker 6 (34:25):
I'm excited. I just don't have Are you on board?
Speaker 4 (34:28):
No too on a.
Speaker 5 (34:31):
Room on this boat?
Speaker 4 (34:32):
When you got to get on, purchase the ticket when
it's time to purchase the ticket, the doc. I'm still
got my life jacket on, trying to figure out whether
or not I want to get on your trying, and
I'm doggy paddling trying to figure it out. Tell me
about stock Mortgage.
Speaker 7 (34:51):
You know Stockton Mortgage, And I'm so glad you asked,
because there are great people to work with, and it's
a good time to buy. And your home is not

Back to you, Matt, grateful, grateful.
Speaker 4 (35:25):
It just doesn't roll off the tongue like motive. I
prefer motivated grateful. Although Shannon loves thy, Shannon has showed
me six pictures like this. We'll take a break. Very
back scis Welcome back. Summer is here. If you're ready
to enjoy your favorite outdoor activities without pain or stiffness.
Court physical therapy therapists are here to help you get
(35:47):
moving again. No medications, no injections, no surgery. It's Court
dot com. That's KRT dot com, book now, Court dot com.
The power of physical therapy on the text machine seven
seven two seven seven four five two five four. One
person's writes Matt, Matt, take Ryan being on board with
the grain of salt. He also falls for pyramid schemes.
That's not very nice.
Speaker 7 (36:07):
That's not very nice.
Speaker 2 (36:08):
I just feel like I was probably maybe the worst
pessimistic guy of all of us to start with, and
now you're now I've moved up a little bit. I'm
not all the way there, but I've moved up a
little bit.
Speaker 4 (36:19):
One person writes Matt, What happened to Jesser? What did
happen to jess.
Speaker 3 (36:23):
I think he heard that you know we're gonna do
with this interview while you were gone, and he just says,
I'm out, forget it, I'm done.
Speaker 4 (36:29):
So I mean that was felt like a key part
of our squad. Yeah, well, where where did he go?
Do you think?
Speaker 6 (36:36):
Yesterday?
Speaker 4 (36:36):
And they were missing Jesser down feel like down the
stretch when they needed to be. If they had Jesser,
would he have even gotten in? I guess he might
have gotten in that first first day.
Speaker 6 (36:45):
Wanted Jesser for his three million followers of teenagers.
Speaker 4 (36:49):
So I heard. I didn't get to watch the first game.
I heard the team we played was not good.
Speaker 6 (36:54):
First of all, if you want to talk about the
first game, we heard audio that would have made KSR
sound like it was, you know, perfectly produced. That was
the worst audio. I thought Ryan had met Robbie Hummel
in the parking lot with our equipment for that first game.
Did it was like popping and staticky. They eventually turned
it off and just didn't have sound while they played
(37:14):
for a little while. Oh really, so it's not just us.
Speaker 5 (37:16):
That was an improvement.
Speaker 4 (37:20):
Yeah, who was who did we play? Who? Stro's squad?
Speaker 7 (37:23):
I don't even know who they were. I have no idea.
I heard by fifty three points whatever it was.
Speaker 6 (37:28):
Yeah, I had the under I even encouraged it.
Speaker 4 (37:31):
Last week.
Speaker 6 (37:32):
Third quarter killed us. We scored twelve points in like
seventeen seconds. When Stro squad just quit playing. It was
like just lay up, lay up, lay up, and destroyed us.
They had no business being on the same floor. A
lot of them from Ohio. Jester would have got in
that game for sure, just played a lot.
Speaker 4 (37:48):
So no Jesser, No Jesser. So what's the story. Why
why no Jesser?
Speaker 7 (37:52):
I think there was some contract scheduling issues.
Speaker 4 (37:55):
There was a contract issue, I think, so we've heard schedule.
Speaker 6 (38:00):
I haven't seen him.
Speaker 4 (38:01):
All right, Well there you go, Jeff, go ahead, Jeff, Hey, Mitt.
Speaker 8 (38:07):
First of all, the guys did a great job last
week with you out of town. And I always loved
when Ryan is running things around here. You never know
what he's gonna say, so keep us all on our edge. Secondly,
I went to South Africa two years ago on a
hunting safari. My wife and I and her brother and
his wife had an amazing time sixteen hour flight to
(38:31):
Johannesburg from Atlanta.
Speaker 4 (38:33):
And it wasn't bad.
Speaker 8 (38:34):
Like you said, you get up, you walk around that,
I'd say you did the right thing by spending the
extra money on the pod to lay out flat. We
did not have that and I'm six three, so I
had to do a lot of walking around. But overall
it was an amazing trip and an amazing country to
go visit.
Speaker 4 (38:52):
Thank you. I appreciate you being encouraging, appreciate the call.
I've had a lot of people be like, oh, you know,
they're gonna kidnap you and sell you for ransom, and
it's like, that's not what you want to hear. I'm
going you know what I mean, like, what do you?
What do you? What are you gonna do for me?
Speaker 6 (39:04):
And if they do that, we'll pull our money in
buy you back. I'm going on, We'll leave you there.
Speaker 4 (39:09):
Yeah, I mean I totally trust our leadership to handle it. Well, yeah,
we'll starting your shoes.
Speaker 6 (39:17):
I'd go and be very excited.
Speaker 4 (39:19):
We'll start.
Speaker 5 (39:19):
We'll start the goth on Mammy.
Speaker 3 (39:20):
If people will pay five thousand dollars to watch Ryan,
everybody should.
Speaker 4 (39:24):
Have gotten their money back by now. If you didn't,
let me know. But I think everybody got their money
back by now. Matt, go ahead, Matt.
Speaker 13 (39:33):
Hey, Matt, what's up?
Speaker 4 (39:33):
Guys?
Speaker 13 (39:34):
Quick questioning on Matt. I'm sorry if you if you've
already seen this or heard of this, I apologize, but
I'm sure there's people in the room that happened or
maybe listening. You mentioned Krueger. There was a famous video
from like fifteen twenty years ago on YouTube called Battle
at Krueger. That's worth a watch. It's like eighteen minutes long.
You can fast forward the first few minutes, but it's
this pretty amazing video somebody took on a safari where like, uh,
(39:58):
these lions are attacking this buffalo and it has a
very happy ending. Everyone does well in the end. So
try to avert your eyes to the crocodile gets involved
in Yeah, then the then the buffalo's heard comes and
saves them and everyone runs off. The pretty amazing video
to see all the animals that get involved.
Speaker 12 (40:17):
It's wild.
Speaker 4 (40:18):
Okay, well I will look at it. I probably actually
have not.
Speaker 13 (40:21):
Seen that battle at Krueger.
Speaker 4 (40:23):
Battle at Krueger. I appreciate the call. Do you like Anna,
I've been kind of become an animal person.
Speaker 5 (40:29):
Like not to watch him.
Speaker 4 (40:31):
On screens, not to be with them, but to watch
them like the guy, the British guy, David Attenborough, and
when he's like the crane comes in and like, I enjoy.
Speaker 6 (40:41):
That funny you ask. This weekend, I watched three episodes
of The America's narrated by Tom Hanks. I think it's
produced by the same people's Planet Earth, but it's.
Speaker 4 (40:50):
So good.
Speaker 6 (40:51):
Yeah, this one just covers the America's just just our
terrain here, but I knocked out three of them. I'm
with you, though, getting into the nature a little more
than I.
Speaker 4 (40:58):
That's how you know you're getting old if you start
like going, you know what, I'd like to sit down tonight.
I'd like to see a nature video and then you
go what happened to me?
Speaker 6 (41:07):
I went to National Park. Just a few weeks ago,
I bought like stickers. I can't wait for my next
National Park? Like, who are you? What's going on here?
Why do I want to go? Go see Mountain Zion
or whatever it's called?
Speaker 4 (41:19):
So bad?
Speaker 14 (41:19):
Herbs, herb, herb, Hey, guys, love are you there?
Speaker 4 (41:26):
Yes?
Speaker 14 (41:27):
Go ahead, all right, love the show. I like cat
Nation because we're bigger than anything local. And then also
on steeps on the defense, how come we don't blitz
all the time? We can't line up straight up with
all the SEC teams. We need to blitch like fifty
percent of the time to sit at twenty.
Speaker 4 (41:47):
You know, I think it's a fair question. I appreciate
the call. I mean, in years past, they didn't blitz
because I think Ryan they thought that they could hold
up against a lot of these teams. But in recent years,
maybe we should have done it a little bit more.
Speaker 2 (41:58):
That seems to be the one complaining Brad White Defense
that they don't blitz enough. And then I need guys
like Freddy to explain it to me. I don't know
the answer to that.
Speaker 4 (42:05):
Yeah, I think it used to be that they felt
like they were solid enough that they could not blitz.
And I think some years they have been, but in
the last couple of years that's not been.
Speaker 6 (42:16):
The case now, and that's brad Waite's defense. He likes
to give a cushion, keep everything in front of him
and just try to not get beat deep and hope
you don't get nickeled and dime down the field, which
we've seen many times.
Speaker 4 (42:25):
Yeah, well, well Ryan's in now, I'm in, all in.
Ryan's on the boat.
Speaker 6 (42:30):
Grateful got him in.
Speaker 4 (42:32):
It's funny grateful Mark Stoops. This is my only advice, UK.
Just chill and like, embrace this stuff. We're going I mean,
it's all gonna play out in the end. Why not
get people excited? I mean, I guess it worked with
Ryan with the great I mean, but I think if
he would do the motivated, recreate the pictures and the memes,
(42:56):
I think it would be smart. But we will be
back tomorrow here all week this game tomorrow night TV.
All right, We'll see you later. It's been ks R
