This is Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.

Speaker 3 (00:34):
Now here's Matt Jones.

Speaker 4 (00:36):
Welcome everyone. It is Kentucky Sports Radio. Wednesday, July the
twenty third. I'm Matt Jones here in Lexington, Kentucky. It
isn't ask anything Wednesday. You can give us a show
on the Clark's Puppet Shop phone line. That's a five
nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven. You can
ask any question and we will answer it. Yeah, we
haven't had one of these in a few weeks, so

(00:57):
catch up. Aby Vision Auto Glass text machine is even
seven two five four in this dish sponsored by TJ.
Smith offics. You call TJ, He'll make them pay. I
have drew seven hours of radio today. It's a lot
of talking.

Speaker 5 (01:12):
Goodness.

Speaker 4 (01:12):
You got theast two hours. Then I have a podcast,
and then I have three hours of ESPN to night.
So at the end of tonight, I'm not gonna want
to say anything.

Speaker 6 (01:23):
During the breaks, you just sit in the dark and
not speak to anyone when you're down and you're.

Speaker 4 (01:26):
Downtime day, I walked to a coffee shop and started
reading and then this this person came up and they
didn't know who I was, but they just wanted to talk.
And I had to give one of the like hey,
it's good to meet you, because I just I can't
talk anymore my quiet time. This is my quiet time.
And it was also a big night at the Tour
de France, so when I got home I needed to

(01:48):
watch him go all the way up the mountain too.

Speaker 5 (01:51):
Well, if it's a Paul Feinbarn type of day, four
hour show used to do some of those days.

Speaker 4 (01:54):
He didn't talk though, he just drew there silently, like
in a lot of commercials. There's a lot of commercials
and he I don't feel sorry for him at all.
He doesn't. He doesn't speak, so it just sits there.
And he's got the easiest job in the world, Shannon.
He just sits there, lets callers talk for ten minutes straight.

Speaker 3 (02:13):
He's got the easiest He has figured it out.

Speaker 2 (02:15):
You know, he's getting paid that big salary and all
he has to do is sit there like a puny.

Speaker 4 (02:18):
He doesn't have to do anything, and so I listen.
Good for him. That's the kind of world that you'd
probably want to have.

Speaker 6 (02:24):
I've noticed sometimes I don't hear it often, but sometimes
he'll just not even react to the caller, like he'll
actually intentionally have five seconds.

Speaker 4 (02:31):
You know, brain is like gone somewhere else and then whatever.
You know. So if I'm nine to eight ZHO twenty
two eighty seven. So last night, another absurdly exciting TVT game,
except this one ends in defeat. La Amelia goes down

(02:52):
seventy one what was it, seventy one to seven? Seventy Yes,
the rule of seventy one in complete and total exist,
you know FS two. I had to like get out
the antenna to figure out where it was got it.
But it was very exciting and tough break for lot familiar.

(03:13):
They're down most the first half. Then they go on
a sixteen oer run in the second half, get the lead,
looks like they're going to win, they get a steal.
It was another game where everybody just would only shoot
a three. At the end. There was another game of absurdity.
Willie looks like he has a wide open dunk, gets fouled,

(03:33):
fakes an injury. Then Archie Goodwin ends up shooting the
free throw. Makes the first misses the second, They get
a rebound and shoot four threes, hit the fourth. Just chaos,
right chaos during the game, and we end up losing.

Speaker 5 (03:53):
First of all, I could not believe how anxious and
nervous I was once they posted that elam ending I
can't believe I got that anxious about the basketball game.
And then with the way it ended. First of all,
they should make every referee forever and ever after that
that referees.

Speaker 2 (04:09):
Like he ain't hurt, ain't hurt, he ain't hurt, Come
on back.

Speaker 4 (04:13):
Yeah he did say he ain't hurt, but he should hurt.
But but how do you prove somebody's hurt chatting? You can't?

Speaker 2 (04:20):
Right, Well, I mean I thought that was pretty obvious,
But I mean Willie got up and made a beeline
for the locker room.

Speaker 5 (04:25):
He did like he went to the locker.

Speaker 2 (04:27):
Had to drag him out of there, kicking and screaming.

Speaker 4 (04:30):
Was it worth all that?

Speaker 5 (04:32):
No?

Speaker 6 (04:33):
I was more upset last night than I have been
in actual n CUAA tournament losses suffered. May we should
not be this bad, that there should not be a
close game yet, what do you mean we should not
have been close with the war ready last night? Okay,
they're pretty good, that's all right. Pretty still fifty from

(04:55):
the free throw line for the tournament.

Speaker 4 (04:57):
That's bad. That is horrible, But that's that's There was
no offense. There was no offense.

Speaker 6 (05:02):
I don't know if Sean Woods needs to be on
the hot sid you don't think think.

Speaker 4 (05:09):
No offense to Sean Woods. He's got They don't run anything.
They should have dominated those They don't run anything. Ever. Ever,
Archie Goodwin and Khalil Whitney and Andrew those.

Speaker 6 (05:20):
And I love Willie. He should have shot the free throws. Sorry,
in the moment, I was like, how does the ring?

Speaker 4 (05:25):
You're surprised that, Willy, Like, I mean, we'll players usually
think they can make the shots.

Speaker 6 (05:32):
Yeah, and Archie. I mean, no offense Archie. It's been
a good week for Archie, but he hadn't made a
free throw since he's been in Lexington this week.

Speaker 5 (05:38):
So did the other team get to pick Archie? Is
that how Archie ended up the free throw prob.

Speaker 6 (05:42):
I wanted Willie. It was Willie's moment, will shoot him?

Speaker 5 (05:44):
But why didn't Willie?

Speaker 4 (05:46):
The assistant told him to sit? I want. I don't
know who that assistant is. Get him out of so
many coaches shit it like we like this. I don't
know they got as many coaches as it. Who are
these people?

Speaker 2 (05:56):
I don't know, but they were doing the college football thing.
Take a time getting the hand signal. Get the one
that told.

Speaker 6 (06:02):
Willy to dive. Lost the whole tournament for him. That
moment ended it. Karma got him. The basketball god said.

Speaker 5 (06:08):
No basketball gods.

Speaker 4 (06:10):
He had to have been planning it because he went down.

Speaker 3 (06:14):
Was going on all game long.

Speaker 2 (06:15):
I mean, there's other audio of the ref going no,
he's just taking a dove every time he gets hit.

Speaker 3 (06:20):
It was going on throughout the game. That wasn't the
first time that happened, but he took.

Speaker 4 (06:22):
A dive after he got it. I mean he did
that was your right, got him the whole miss football.
We're better than that.

Speaker 6 (06:31):
We're better than that. They lost because they did that both.

Speaker 5 (06:36):
I'm surprised Willy didn't want to take the free throw. Man,
you're a competitor, this is your moment.

Speaker 4 (06:39):
But then you lose Willie. And on the other end,
you can't get a rebound because they had five They
basically had five guards. It even rebound.

Speaker 2 (06:47):
He should have came out of that locker room and
got that rebound.

Speaker 7 (06:49):
Fall.

Speaker 6 (06:50):
Even if Willie misses the free throws, he's still in
the game.

Speaker 4 (06:53):
He's still in the game. And then you know, he
did a pretty good job guarding. But then they had
one defensive break down and that guy gets open. Like
everybody else was taking contested shots, and I think they
were missing so badly. That's why they were getting the
rebounds because because they weren't even close the shots. To
be fair, it's hard to rebound a ball when it's like,

(07:15):
can go anywhere.

Speaker 6 (07:16):
You know what I was doing at home, scream and
foul give them to You can't.

Speaker 4 (07:20):
You can't because if you foul, I want them to
foul up.

Speaker 6 (07:23):
Three Before we even got to the Willie free But
do you know, I don't think you know what the
rule is.

Speaker 4 (07:27):
The rule is if you foul in that situation, you
get one free throw in the ball well give them
a layup. They you don't know.

Speaker 6 (07:33):
Definitely, I would not have left the three point line.
Have all the twos you want, give them the layup,
but you can't foul. That's that's true. That's a rule.
I wanted them to just give them the path of
the two before we even got to.

Speaker 4 (07:47):
I told I actually think it would be interesting if
you just, like, because everybody's brain is to score, if
you just moved out of the way and let them
get the layup, then you have the ballot you got
to score. But still they could have gotten a rebound.
It was just very frustrated. I hate that Archie had
to miss that free throw. You know that there was
There's a video of him at the end of the

(08:08):
game and he looks like he's gonna cry. I mean,
he I hate. He had such a good experience with
this with this week, and I actually think he's done
an amazing job to have this fan base are like,
I think this fan base loves him.

Speaker 6 (08:23):
Oh yeah, don't you. I mean We were pretty mad
in the games, but that's what we do. We're a
little crazy. We had Archie moments.

Speaker 4 (08:29):
He has been like an archie a plus.

Speaker 6 (08:32):
He and Khalil, they could not have had a better experience.
I'll speak for them.

Speaker 2 (08:36):
Just about the cry. If I lost a million dollars,
I'd be crying too. I think that's why he was crying.

Speaker 4 (08:41):
Yeah, I mean that was his old team. They're going
they're advancing without him. They're advancing without him. That's tough,
you know, and they're gonna, like a lot of the
other favorites, keep losing. So like that team last night
could win the whole thing.

Speaker 5 (08:53):
He had Kentucky heads love, and he had a said
where they're gonna have be home field advantage throughout the
rest of the tournament, even the final four. It was
all set up for them.

Speaker 6 (09:01):
Yeah, the biggest loser is the tournament. They were billing Kentucky,
Louisville all Summer.

Speaker 4 (09:06):
One, in Whichita State lose and Syracuse lost in Whichita State.
So the four teams that sold the most tickets all
got beat in the last two days. So like, I
don't I think the theory was the game would be
at Louisville. If it wasn't at louisvillelll be at Kentucky.
It wasn't at Kentucky, be at Syracuse. If it wasn't
at Syracuse, would be at Wichita statest Ohio state team.

Speaker 3 (09:31):
So now people at the championship, they're.

Speaker 4 (09:33):
Gonna have this game at like the YMCA somewhere because
the play all of the hosts have lost, and I
think maybe West Virginia is where they'll end up having it.
But basically all of the teams that hosted have now lost,
so I don't know that they have a place to
even play the game.

Speaker 6 (09:49):
And that Kentucky Louisville they were count on that it
really was like a tournament atmosphere last year. That's they've
been marketing around that for a year and neither team
is even at that stage.

Speaker 4 (09:58):
He lost for them.

Speaker 5 (09:59):
So do you think Sean Woods and the coaches had
an argument about the shot clock resetting when it didn't
hit the rim in that last possession.

Speaker 4 (10:04):
I guess I didn't totally follow that should the shot
clock have gone away?

Speaker 5 (10:09):
It looked to mean like in the replay it did
not hit the rim.

Speaker 4 (10:12):
The first one did not, but did the second one
hit the rim.

Speaker 5 (10:16):
I don't know they didn't reset the shot clock. I
think on the first one, well, the.

Speaker 2 (10:19):
First one did not hit the rim, right, but I
think the second shot up before the clock would have
expired anyway.

Speaker 4 (10:25):
And I think the second shot hit the rim. Yeah,
I did so, I mean, I I maybe I'm wrong.
Maybe somebody can tell me otherwise. I didn't understand. I
saw everyone yelling about the shot clock, but I didn't
really understand what they were yelling about. The first time
was an airball, but I think they got the second
one off very quickly after that and hit the rim,
hit the rim, and then I think it reset. But
I mean, I might be wrong about that. I don't know.

(10:47):
I wasn't one hundred. I was more just going, why
can't we get a rebound? At that point, it was
such a circuit we win. Let's say we win. Would
you have been embarrassed if we won with the Willie flop?

Speaker 6 (11:02):
I'll be honest. You know we're fans, and we're not crazy,
we're fanatics. I would have been all forward if that
he worked. I'm very against it because we lost, very
disappointed had it worked.

Speaker 4 (11:14):
I mean, I was prepared to say it was one
of the great plays of all time.

Speaker 6 (11:18):
I wanted Willie to have that moment. Though he played
eighteen at Piccodom that morning.

Speaker 4 (11:22):
He was calm.

Speaker 6 (11:23):
The Gay Brewer vibes were still in him, got him
calm down. He would have made both free throws, would
have been a perfect ending.

Speaker 4 (11:28):
They're a player short. I mean, I you know, I
feel like I said, I can't believe we're breaking this
down as a general manager, but they need They needed
Deron Lamb to be a good shooter, and Deron Lamb
may just be passed playing back struggle at this point, struggled,
so they needed a guy like that, because honestly, if
you look at it, we have like four guys who

(11:50):
are still really pretty good at basketball. You've got Archie Whitney,
Andrew Harrison and Burt Yeah, the rest of the people,
to me, I don't know about you. They know now
Willie is still a force of nature like no one
at like Willie's in these games. But he's also I

(12:10):
think he told you all he hadn't seen a basketball
in like eight months or something. So I mean, we
kind of have.

Speaker 6 (12:16):
Like four guys that play basketball still and r cursed
ligand yesterday.

Speaker 4 (12:21):
He didn't dress last night after we talked about him. Yeah,
Andrew's got Andrew's still good.

Speaker 5 (12:26):
Yeah, Aaron kind of struggled, though.

Speaker 4 (12:28):
Aaron struggled like it's funny Andrews. Andrews passed his brother.

Speaker 5 (12:34):
That you're right, the two guys they would count on
be a shooter. Dron and Aaron both kind of struggled
the whole tournament.

Speaker 6 (12:39):
And Canner was much better last year. He was scoring
a ton last year. I don't know if we just
didn't go to him. Maybe he's just his falling off.
But I know people kept saying to me how good
Caterer was last year. I wasn't here. He's not. He
was the whole team last year, most of scoring. That's
why I wish they had gone.

Speaker 4 (12:56):
To him a little more this year. Unless he just
on the team last year.

Speaker 6 (12:59):
Yeah, and there were good Butchestina and Canter were two
of the best a year ago.

Speaker 4 (13:04):
Either way, it's a tough lot. I couldn't believe how
into both of these. I love the tournament though, it's
just absolute chaos. And it looked like we had a
good crowd there. Didn't it look like a great crowd.
Maybe a better crowd than Sunday, right, I think is
Mario's day. I noticed he's not here. Mario was very
upset last night, and he was like, I think Mario
likes our TVT team, and he likes our.

Speaker 2 (13:26):
Regular Yeah, no one has ever taken the TVT more
seriously than Mario.

Speaker 4 (13:31):
And Twny Beckham right now are in recovery during this.

Speaker 2 (13:35):
He felt like you know, we all felt when Laterer
hit the shot on on you know, Kentucky in ninety two.
I feel like that's how Mario's feeling right now today,
isn't it.

Speaker 5 (13:42):
Well.

Speaker 4 (13:42):
I really enjoyed now. I probably won't watch any of
the rest of it with our with our folks out
of it. I don't know if Eberlin Drive and Sideline
Cancer is going to get huge ratings, but I did.
I did really enjoy this for an off season July.
I don't know how you couldn't love it.

Speaker 6 (13:59):
Yeah, it's a little weird being this mad at Kentucky
basketball in July twenty third, but I'll get over it
and look forward to next year. Archie already committed on Twitter,
said he can't go out like that. The Harrisons, I
think committed.

Speaker 4 (14:10):
Archie and the Harrisons. You've got the basis for a good.

Speaker 5 (14:13):
Yeah, you can build around that then, yeah.

Speaker 6 (14:15):
But you still we gotta get like when need to
go out and get Ashton Hagen's But what about like
a Kellen grat He was.

Speaker 4 (14:22):
On last year's team. He didn't play much. Why didn't
he play? I mean last year he was just a
year removed from playing.

Speaker 3 (14:30):
Okay, we got a spot for him on the floor.
Staying right, I would feel like.

Speaker 4 (14:33):
I asked Kellen Grady would still be here.

Speaker 6 (14:35):
As much as I want Pope's guys to all make
the league, I mean you could have a Lamont Butler,
Andrew Carr, Jackson Robinson next year.

Speaker 4 (14:42):
The Pope era.

Speaker 6 (14:44):
Might actually be good for them, be the best thing.
We might just get our team the summer after they Yeah,
I guess are those guys on NBA deals? Is that
why they couldn't play? Yeah, they're they have training camps
right now. But if they don't make a team, I
don't know why they wouldn't beligible one day.

Speaker 4 (15:00):
Antonio Reeves could be the best player in the history
of the TPT.

Speaker 5 (15:04):
He et has made for a guy like that, But.

Speaker 4 (15:06):
He's still got a future in the league. Probably well eight,
I'm nine twenty two eighty seven the it's asked anything Wednesday.
I enjoyed the game. Thank you to those guys for
keeping the entertainment going for me. I thought it was
a lot of fun. And I was on ESPN screaming
in the last place, I was narrating it on National radio,
losing game. We'll take a break, be right back, welcome back,

(15:31):
tell you sports radio. All right. So apparently people are
saying the shot clock should have gone off between the
first and the second show. Really, but if that's the case,
then they should have said it before he took the
second shot, because they can't wait till after the third
shot and say the shot clock could have gone off
before the second shot right.

Speaker 6 (15:50):
At that point and had already become so much chaos.
I was just like, whatever, but whatever they want to do.

Speaker 4 (15:55):
Shot text machine seven seven two five two five for
what person rights mean? How big a buy out did
Mitch have in Shawn Wood's contract? Yeah, I think we
got a shaneon go back to Tyler Liss. I mean
they don't run any offense now. Great. I had it
on mute because I was on ESPN, so I couldn't
hear what was going on. I could just see it.

Speaker 2 (16:17):
A lot of people said cal didn't run in the
offense the whole time he was here.

Speaker 4 (16:20):
Well, you did have clock HiT's the Calier again.

Speaker 6 (16:24):
I saw a good suggestion this morning. I don't know
if he'd do it, but next year they should ask
Tubby to come back and coach him.

Speaker 3 (16:29):
That would be cool, be cool.

Speaker 4 (16:33):
It's a ceremony. I'm out on the last play, do
we have half a timeout? When it was when Archie
got fouled so that we got two shots? Why did
we not have a time out or no? Wait, I
guess we got a steal right there. But the play
before that, it was sixty eight sixty eight, we had
the ball and we didn't call time out. Either way,
I can't believe on this lne but it's still it's

(16:56):
still frustrating because I thought this would be funn will
play another game. It's a lot of fun.

Speaker 5 (17:00):
I felt like Jesser would have made the difference, right.

Speaker 4 (17:03):
Jesser would have gotten that rebound, he would have got the.

Speaker 3 (17:08):
Jesser wouldn't have done anything. His death line would have been.

Speaker 4 (17:11):
You want to talk about conspiracy theories, the conspiracy theories
I've gotten in the last week. Number one are Epstein,
but number two arelated. They are unrelated, unrelated as far
as I know. But the amount of people that have
theories as to why Jesser didn't play, I've heard everything

(17:32):
from a contract dispute to they wouldn't give him the
right hotel. Two, he didn't sell enough tickets when he
announced that he was coming, so the official word was scheduling.

Speaker 5 (17:46):
And he released a little video said he had a hamstring.

Speaker 3 (17:49):
There was an injury. So which one you believe?

Speaker 4 (17:52):
Yeah, I mean his people are saying Obama needs to
be impeached. I mean there's a lot of stuff that
has come out on Jesser. Shannon. Which of the Jessers
stories do you believe?

Speaker 2 (18:01):
I really don't care about any of them, to be
honest with you, but probably.

Speaker 3 (18:07):
A contract dispute.

Speaker 4 (18:08):
Yeah, I think. What Here's if I were to guess
just from reading the tea leaves, I think Jesser was
promised money assuming Jesser would sell tickets. Jesser announces he's coming,
doesn't sell tickets, so they're like, well, we're not gonna
pay you that money. And then he's like well then
I'm not gonna play. That's kind of how I read it.

(18:30):
Do you agree with.

Speaker 6 (18:31):
That that that seems logical? We've heard a little bit
of everything. Could also be the timing was the day
before he was supposed to do KSR with Shannon. Could
it be he was ducking that interview?

Speaker 3 (18:41):
He was going to bring the heat to jes He
didn't want any part of us. He didn't.

Speaker 4 (18:48):
The thing is, you're in Kentucky like we're gonna sell
the tickets because of the Twins, Rtie Lamb, It's not
gonna be's gonna it's gonna sell the tickets here, John,
it's ask anything Wednesday, John.

Speaker 8 (19:05):
The United Football team that's going to be moving here,
what do you think their name should be? And do
you think it's going to be in a Louisville area
or Lexibon area.

Speaker 4 (19:12):
All right, well, I mean I actually just say that
I'm going to do that in the next segment, so
I'll answer. Let let's save that. I appreciate the call.
That was gonna be my next topic. Alan, go ahead, Allen.

Speaker 9 (19:23):
Gentlemen, if Patino had never left for Boston A, would
he still be the coach today? And be how many titles.
Do you think he would have won?

Speaker 4 (19:33):
Well, no, I appreciate the call. I don't think he
would have coached anywhere for thirty years. You also have
to remember there's a decent chance the Katina pal stuff
happens here. That's actually a good question is if Patino
stayed that whole time, would we have had the scandal?

Speaker 6 (19:49):
Do you think all the things that acted Louisville, I
think one of the scandals is more likely than the
other scandal. I think the restaurant scandal is more likely
than the.

Speaker 4 (19:59):
Chance it would have been Frankendino's.

Speaker 5 (20:02):
Chass Bar.

Speaker 4 (20:04):
Stop it, we don't. We don't allow those things to
happen at kass Bar. We make sure well, first of all,
they don't have a heat secretive boosts. Yeah, those hot chairs,
that'd be Giuseppes. Though with the saxophone, I could have
seen Fatino, Yeah at Giuseppes back in the background.

Speaker 5 (20:24):
The keys lock up.

Speaker 4 (20:26):
It would be it would be interesting to figure out
who would be each person in this scenario. Got I'd
like to it really would What what if the scandal
happened here? I think it would have had to have
been at Giuseppes Jessettes is the most. It's the restaurant

(20:49):
most like Porcini's and Lexington. It's out there a little bit,
but that's even bad. Yeah, that's right, that's even dark
out there. It's yes.

Speaker 6 (20:58):
And then the saxophone, all the roses on the table's tablecloth.

Speaker 4 (21:03):
I like Giuseppes. It gets forgotten do out there because
it because you got it, and it's hard to find
parking sometimes.

Speaker 6 (21:11):
I was a little disappointed. I took my parents there.
I was very excited. They're familiar with the commercial. It's
a birthday good meal. I like Giuseppes, but we set
so far away. I couldn't hear the saxophone, and that
was like the whole reason. Well, the saxophone would have
set the mood. It's exactly why we did. Definitely set
the mood.

Speaker 2 (21:25):
I don't forget about it. I hear about it every morning.
Tom Leech talks it up every morning on the Leach Report.

Speaker 4 (21:30):
Oh do they they advertise.

Speaker 6 (21:33):
Tom Leach is so good at reading radio ads, Like
when he's talking about Giuseppes. Feel like I'm like sitting
there eating with Tom Leech.

Speaker 3 (21:40):
He's it's Karen Cipher.

Speaker 4 (21:42):
Well, they wouldn't. I wish I had the skills that
Tom has. Who's locking up? Who's Vinnie in this story? Tightly?
We all think of the name. We gotta be care
Yeah something fun? Uh. Let's yeah. As far as is
how many would he have won? Let's say he did

(22:02):
coach all this time, which he wouldn't have. Oh, he'd
have won. He'd beat Shazhevsky, like right, yeah, I mean
he would have had a Shrzewsky career, probably four or
five titles.

Speaker 5 (22:11):
They were on the verge of winning like four out
of the next seven or something like that. They were
just an incredibly rolling right now.

Speaker 4 (22:17):
I mean you got to assume he could have won
ninety eight, maybe ninety. But the point is, like he'd
have just kept it going, yeah, you know, and like
you would have been in contention most years. Sure, and
you give him all those years, it's gonna be like Skryzhevsky,
He's going to end up finding ways to win. So yeah,
I think that's true.

Speaker 6 (22:35):
And the more he would have been won, and the
more people would have wanted to play here, it would
have just kept going.

Speaker 4 (22:39):
Again, Like what if he never goes to Louisville? What
path do they go down? Yeah, that would be it is.
It is a really good question. If I'm nine two
eight oh, twenty two eighty seven, we will talk about
the new pro sports team potentially coming to Kentucky. This
is Kentucky Sports Radio. TJ Smith, personal injury attorney called TJ.

(23:00):
He'll make them pay.

Speaker 2 (23:01):
Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio. Present it by Stockton Mortgage.
Here's Matt Jones.

Speaker 4 (23:06):
Welcome back Tucky Sports Radio. If I'm nine two eighth
twenty two eighty seven, ask anything Wednesday, A couple open lines,
give us a shout. The KSR Somerset Golf Scrambles now
on sale. I just retweeted the link. It's the last
one to go on sale Somerset. It'll be on September eighth.
Always a fun one. It's probably the one where we
get to interact with people the most. So September the eighth.

(23:28):
The Sumrset Golf Scramble, it's just a few days before
I leave for South Africa, has just gone on sale.
I just retweeted. Or you can go to the KSR
the show Twitter account. I'm sure Drew will have it
up on the website later today. But get in and
get that on the questions ask anything Wednesday, one person.
This is Ozzy Osbourne. By the way, obviously Ozzy passed away, Shannon,

(23:49):
I mean I defer to you on all things Ozzy Osborne.

Speaker 2 (23:52):
Yeah, one of the most iconic legendary names in rock
and roll history. You know, you think about all the
countless hits and so.

Speaker 4 (24:01):
Give me you got crazy train, give me some of
the more.

Speaker 3 (24:04):
Uh no, more tears. I mean the list. I mean
trying to think of like so many you can't.

Speaker 2 (24:12):
I'm trying to think of the one you would know,
like my mom coming home, know that one flying high again, mister, I.

Speaker 4 (24:17):
Know that one, pid paranoid, know that one? Okay, man, Yeah,
I know that one. Yeah, so to a certain for me,
I knowing more from the reality show, as crazy as
that seems, you know.

Speaker 6 (24:32):
I definitely do know one from yelling at Sharon. Sharon,
that's the Ozzie I.

Speaker 4 (24:37):
Know, Yeah, which was like one of the most I
think it sort of started the whole family reality show
drama that later led to like Kardashians and all that stuff.
I mean, Ozzy was like the first one of them.

Speaker 5 (24:50):
It was the first one introduced him to a whole
new generation of people. You know by that that reality show.

Speaker 4 (24:56):
Ron, Yes, and it made all of them stars. It did,
like him sharing got a talk show, Kelly. What was
the other one's name?

Speaker 3 (25:06):
Jack?

Speaker 10 (25:06):
Jack?

Speaker 5 (25:07):
Happened to Jack?

Speaker 4 (25:09):
I don't know, so, I mean a lot of so
rest in peace to Ozzie seventy seven? Was that right?
Seventy six.

Speaker 3 (25:16):
Weeks ago?

Speaker 4 (25:17):
That's crazy? Well, rest in peace? All right? So questions
on Ask Anything Wednesday? What person rights? Matt, I'd like
to know of each of you. If you could be
a singer and have one person's voice, who would you choose?
I think I would want a voice that like, would
be a talent with women like one that was like

(25:38):
they'd go, oh, Michael Buble, Michael. I think I would
go John Legend. That's a great one, John Legend. I
feel like, Yeah, if you got John Legend's voice coming
out of me, first of all, would be surprising, and secondly,
I think it would it would play well, what about

(25:59):
you man? That's a great answer, love John Legend. Plus
I would know Vince didn't he weren't they friends? Yeah? Okay,
I'm gonna go a different direction. I'll go Freddy Mercury
Freddy Harry just trying to make some unique very talented. Yeah,
Freddy Mercury didn't see that one coming. You know what,
I didn't see that.

Speaker 6 (26:20):
And honestly, when I went open my mouth, I wasn't
sure where I was going and that came out.

Speaker 4 (26:23):
So Freddie Mercury, Freddie Mercury, what about you?

Speaker 5 (26:25):
Obviously I'm going Darius Rucker, but my he's.

Speaker 4 (26:27):
Not particularly great singer.

Speaker 5 (26:29):
Oh I think he's the best singer the people. Soulful. Yeah,
it soul Oh my goodness, it's mister soulful.

Speaker 4 (26:36):
Didn't he just refund people because he can't sing?

Speaker 5 (26:38):
Yeah, having some hell problems. Prayers, well, prayer up to
Darius Rucker.

Speaker 4 (26:42):
Ryan speaking, someone who literally just had to refund this
we for not being able to sing. Okay, all right,
what's your other one?

Speaker 5 (26:49):
Harry Connick Junior is Okay, Harry.

Speaker 4 (26:51):
Conny Junior is a good one because women of a
certain age, yes, oh, they love Harry Conny Junior. Yeah, okay,
what about you.

Speaker 3 (26:57):
Shannon Chris Cornell?

Speaker 4 (27:00):
Right, yeah, that's that was gonna be yours one person. Rites, Matt,
have you watched the Hunter Biden interview? Yes, I watched
some of it. Wow, man, good way to put it.
Wow Wow. I don't even know what to say. Like
if I was Hunter Biden, you know, and I don't

(27:22):
say this be rude because like people like drug addiction
is a tough thing, and he clearly has had that problem.
But like you've caused enough trouble, you know what I mean?
Like if you're one thing I really respect about his
dad is that he's stuck with that kid. I say, kid,
he's older than I, but like he's constant trouble. And

(27:43):
then does a three hour insane interview where he's talking
about like crack and George Clooney, and like, I just
I don't know why he can't just go Why does he.

Speaker 6 (27:52):
Just want to like go off into I didn't watch
the whole thing, but I was scrolling Nutcroll. Yeah, I
was scrolling the apps and I just saw Hunter Biden
explains the difference between crack and cocaine, And I thought,
did anyone ask.

Speaker 4 (28:06):
No, why is this here? What I don't understand the point,
Like there's oh, throughout history we've talked about there are
famous people who have family members who just constantly cause
them trouble. Yeah, right, Bill Clinton's brother Roger, Jimmy Carter's brother,
what was his name, Billy, Billy, Hunter's Biden. It feels

(28:27):
like the Obama kids and the Bush kids are pretty normal, right,
but why don't why not just stop?

Speaker 9 (28:35):
You know?

Speaker 5 (28:38):
Part of it is really sad.

Speaker 4 (28:39):
It's very sad. Yeah, but like, don't keep making it
sad or a by continuing to He doesn't have to
do these interviews now, and.

Speaker 5 (28:47):
He's obviously got the support around him. Just whatever reason.
Once that moment in the spotlight, you think that that
fifteen seconds, I don't know, keep going after it.

Speaker 4 (28:57):
I just if I was Hunter Biden, I just go
off on someone here and just you know, but that's me.
Maybe maybe he feels like he has things to say.

Speaker 9 (29:04):
All right.

Speaker 4 (29:04):
So the UFL, which used to be the XFL, which
used to be the USFL, but it is now the
UFL is getting rid of four teams and adding four teams.
And the report is that Kentucky is going to have
a team, right they It could either be based in
Louisville or Lexington, or I've I been told maybe both.

(29:26):
Half the games in Louisville, half the games in LEXI
really do you think this can work? The season starts
right as college basketball ends and goes through like early
June April May. Basically, do you think that can work?

Speaker 5 (29:45):
It's only going to work if they get some Kentucky
guys and Louisville guys on it. I mean, we saw
the horsemen that we're here, and what was the Louisville
indoor football team. They loaded up with the local guys,
Louisville Fire. They loaded up with some little local guys
so people would go watch him play. We went to
watch Law of Me because it was our local guys
with guys we knew. I think the UFL could work
if they get the right roster.

Speaker 4 (30:07):
What do you think?

Speaker 6 (30:09):
I don't think it would work. I would really get
into it. I mean, I'm still mad about a game
last night played between thirty year olds that didn't really matter.
I mean, I would get into it, but I just
don't even know if the UFL is really gonna work.
It feels like the third or fourth time in the
last decade someone tried something like this.

Speaker 4 (30:24):
But they haven't done it here in a long time.

Speaker 6 (30:25):
Yeah, I just mean the league overall, there's been two seasons,
and last year they dipped in attention across the board.
So I just I just don't think the overall thing.

Speaker 4 (30:34):
Are optimistic about it. Why not? This is a place
that loves sports. Yes, this is a place where sports
drives the conversation as much as anywhere in the country.
It's a time of year where you've just come off
the high basketball, you got the Derby and all that
stuff going on. If they market it right, why not.

(30:56):
I mean, can it be a smashing success, Well no,
but it be something that people enjoy and go to.

Speaker 5 (31:03):
Gave us the horseman, gave us something to do here
in this town during the summers. I think they would look.

Speaker 4 (31:06):
At and if you do, half of them in Lexington
and half of them in louisville'll call them the Kentucky
Whatever's I mean?

Speaker 3 (31:14):
We had arena football, like you said, here in Louisville.
It didn't work. For a reason. Nobody cared.

Speaker 2 (31:17):
The most exciting thing that ever happened in a Lobell
Fire football game was Tony Benetti choking on a hot dog.

Speaker 3 (31:22):
I mean that was you know, nobody cared.

Speaker 4 (31:24):
But that's true. But I think Lexington is actually more
apt to support it than louill.

Speaker 2 (31:29):
I think people would be excited at first but I
think that excitement would wear off.

Speaker 3 (31:33):
Everybody would go to it.

Speaker 2 (31:34):
You know, anything that's new people love, and then you
got to talk about the long term, you know, sustainability
of it.

Speaker 4 (31:41):
Well, I'm staying more positive. I think it can work.
I don't think it's like certain to work. They would
have to do it the right way, and they would
have to market it. I agree, they'd probably need to
have Kentucky guys and Louisville guys that first year.

Speaker 5 (31:53):
Maybe get how mommy or somebody to be the coach?

Speaker 4 (31:55):
How perfect example, yet how mummy to be a coach?
That was a really smart thing.

Speaker 6 (32:00):
Re Mark Stoops. Bob is one of the coaches. Bob's
one of the head coaches in the league. You can
retire and just do what.

Speaker 4 (32:07):
Well. I hope it works. I think anything that brings
sports here would help someone. Brent, go ahead, Brent, Brent,
all right, let's go. Okay, man, anytime you're ready.

Speaker 7 (32:23):
Hey, my bad, I'm working. Hey, So I got a
couple of things real quick. So I'm for a lot
of new listeners like me who are younger. I think
I've kind of been curious if you guys would ever
want to do like a off season like off season
episode or like a YouTube video where you went over
like the KSR history, like when everybody joined your kind
of things like that to kind of just get up
the speed on everyone's favorite radio show and that kind

(32:45):
of stuff.

Speaker 4 (32:47):
It's a great idea. We ought to do it. The
question would just be how we would do it. But uh,
you know what, there are we add new people every year,
so I think it's a good idea and that'd be
the kind of thing we could keep for a long time,
So we may try to do that.

Speaker 7 (32:59):
Brit all right, sweet, Yeah, I think a videosa or
s But also I have a note the same real
quick go for it. So maybe I'm stupid, but I
want to feel like if you're if you're spending like
almost more than almost every other player, like team in basketball,
wouldn't there be like an asterisk or something next to

(33:21):
a title being like, oh, yeah, they only won because
they got like who.

Speaker 4 (33:25):
Spent the most money? Who's spent the most money last
year in the NBA.

Speaker 7 (33:32):
Hey, I don't know that.

Speaker 4 (33:33):
Exactly, Like we don't know. At the end of the day,
you just look at who won. Do you know who's
spent the most money? In baseball in twenty twelve. Probably
the yes, probably, but maybe not. You don't know spend.

Speaker 7 (33:46):
I just feel like it's different with the revenue split
because with NBA you're spending all on basketball because it's
the basketball league.

Speaker 4 (33:52):
If you're saying, well, let me put it in a
different way, who's spent the most money? Who spent the
most money on college basketball last year? I don't know exactly.
I don't think people I just don't think people know,
and I appreciate the call brand I think like, yeah,
at the end of the day, this has been my

(34:13):
opinion about nil from the beginning. When the game starts,
we don't talk about right, nobody follows it. What college
basketball coach makes the most money? Might know.

Speaker 6 (34:27):
Col's up there, I mean Cal's been passed. I guess
that would be been.

Speaker 4 (34:31):
Passed and it's not John Shire. You know who they'd be.
So I don't know. I actually don't know the answer.
Maybe Danny Hurley, maybe it's Bill self. I'm not sure.
But my point is like it is off season talk,
but I think once the games start, people just forget
about that stuff. The answer to who paid the most
money last year for a team was Kansas State.

Speaker 5 (34:48):
That's right.

Speaker 4 (34:50):
What did they do? That's the big thing.

Speaker 6 (34:51):
You can't just attach to numbers of these guys because
so many of them are overvalued and they don't pan
out like we saw kansasate Indiana. The teams that spent
the most did nothing year.

Speaker 4 (35:00):
So I'm Nikansas. I do think that it sets expectations,
but to me, once the game start, the games of
the games, and so I actually don't think it would
make it an asterisk or anything like that. Hey, bourbon lovers,
it what I said?

Speaker 7 (35:17):
Hi?

Speaker 4 (35:17):
Oh is this for you?

Speaker 10 (35:18):
No?

Speaker 4 (35:18):
You said, hey, bourbon lovers. Okay, hey, bourbon lovers. Commonwealth
Causes back with their July Bourbon Raffle twenty thousand dollars
worth of a bourbon collection. They do this. How do
they do this?

Speaker 5 (35:28):
I don't know. It's amazing they are able to get it.

Speaker 4 (35:30):
Once again, a six bottle Pappy van Winkle set, but
also a Weller six bottle set, a Blanton eight bottle set,
a Club Blue hiccup set, four bottle set, and more
big bourbon, big prizes and lucky winners. Tickets are limited,
so secure as you're now at Commonwealth Causes dot org.

(35:51):
That's Commonwealth causes dot Org. We will take a break
and be right back this see is Kentucky Sports Radio
KASAR is in Nicholsville Friday, UH Kentucky Customs and Upfitting
on Howard Drive. So if you're in Nicholsville. We haven't
been in Nicholsville, I think so. If you're in Nicholsville

(36:11):
or you're close to Nicholsville, come see us Friday UH
pre free prizes and giveaways at Kentucky Customs and Upfitting.
If I'm nine two eight zero twenty two eighty seven
text machine seven seven two seven seven four five two
five four. One person writes Matt, what is the best
UH TV show theme song that was much better than
the show Simon and Simon.

Speaker 5 (36:34):
Oh, that's a good one.

Speaker 4 (36:36):
Find the Simon and Simon theme Shitnon, Okay, it's got
like I don't even remember the show. It was like
two brothers, right, and they did stuff with each other. Yeah,
I don't know what they do heard of it before
I ever heard of it. You never heard of Simon and Simon.
I just remember it has like the beat of the song.
You know, they don't do TV theme songs as much anymore,
but Successions is really good. Successions, Why Lotus is really good? Pranos? Yeah, yeah,

(37:07):
I listened to that ship in there and there. That's
like a good you could put. I could see Alice
Blue down playing this, yeah, I would.

Speaker 3 (37:16):
How about magnum P.

Speaker 4 (37:18):
I Oh, mag and P is a really good one. Yeah,
but mag and P has to show people know most
people don't even know Simon and Simon.

Speaker 6 (37:24):
Simon, Simon's got that major dead actor in it.

Speaker 4 (37:27):
It does good call. It's a good call.

Speaker 8 (37:29):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (37:30):
Most famous TV theme song is probably what Andy Griffith
Friends Friends, Yeah, Jefferson's Yeah as someone in the middle
of a Sopranos rewatch.

Speaker 6 (37:41):
That still hits me every time. I don't hit really good.
I still watch it through.

Speaker 4 (37:44):
But like I think, the ones that have words though,
it makes it to wear people remember him more. Although
I guess Andy Griffiths just whistling.

Speaker 5 (37:50):
That's what they say. The older show has always had
words to it. The newer theme songs just Prady Bunch,
pretty Munch.

Speaker 4 (37:55):
That's the way it all became. The Brady Bunch, Friends.

Speaker 5 (37:58):
Sandford and Son.

Speaker 4 (38:01):
Okay, they don't listen to me. They don't listen to me.
I literally said, friends and Sanford and so, and then
the next two answers by them are friends and Sanford.
One person goes, uh, Matt Win is ks bar open?
We do now have a date August twenty sixth, so
we will open the Tuesday before the first game of

(38:21):
the year. Nice. August twenty sixth is our reopening date,
so we'll do the show there from there that week.
So August twenty sixth, Bobby, go ahead, Bobby, not for
Tom caller? Who are.

Speaker 7 (38:36):
I got a statement and a question?

Speaker 4 (38:38):
Go for it?

Speaker 5 (38:39):
All right?

Speaker 7 (38:40):
So y'all were talking about it.

Speaker 4 (38:41):
I was working the other day.

Speaker 7 (38:42):
I wasn't able to call in, but y'all were talking
about changing the name from law Familia. How about Dim
Bluegrass Boys.

Speaker 4 (38:51):
I'm good with it. I appreciate the call. I like that.
I like that. I've gotten some bad names the people writing.

Speaker 5 (38:58):
In that one.

Speaker 4 (39:00):
What's wrong with that one?

Speaker 8 (39:03):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (39:03):
Like, d I get it.

Speaker 3 (39:05):
You don't have to tell me that it's like them,
but it's like, but it's cooler.

Speaker 4 (39:08):
Yeah, it's damn no.

Speaker 3 (39:09):
I didn't get it till you explained it to them.

Speaker 4 (39:11):
And I bet the boys has a Z. Seven Boys
has a Z. That's the kind of team Jesser would
have played for. He would have made his schedule work
for Dim Bluegrass Boys. Jerry, go ahead, Jerry. If you're
going to complain, I'm gonna hang up.

Speaker 10 (39:25):
I'm not complaining.

Speaker 4 (39:26):
Okay.

Speaker 10 (39:28):
What I was gonna say is you talk about me complain.

Speaker 4 (39:33):
For this is complaining. I knew it was complaining. I said,
don't complain, complain.

Speaker 10 (39:40):
No, No, I was thinking I was have a discussions.
Who are Stup's first got here? You and I were
round around about whether or not he was going to
be successful or not? Was because of a lot of
things they were doing.

Speaker 4 (39:53):
Yeah, and.

Speaker 10 (39:57):
Not about to complain. I'm about to say that it
seemed like something changed.

Speaker 4 (40:03):
Yeah, appreciate the call. I mean, this is that's complaining.
And it's also not a question on ask anything Wednesday.
That's complaining about Mark Stoops and I listen, there's plenty
of time for that. But this is ask Anything Wednesday.
I think we all knew the complaint was coming. You
could fill the complaint around the corner. It was. You
could feel it bottiling, you know, bubbling up. Jordan, go ahead, Jordan, Hey.

Speaker 8 (40:30):
Two quick things first, what happened with Ashton Hagens at
the end of the twenty twenty season. And second, would
you ever consider moving the show to eleven to one?
It just seems like a lot of official news breaks at.

Speaker 4 (40:44):
Noon be cool to get around action. Well, it's first
start on the second one. I would rather do the
show from eleven to one so that people could come
on their lunch breaks. The problem is, and I appreciate
the call clear channel now iHeart. They had rush Limbaugh
there for years and now they have Clay and Buck,

(41:06):
and that is a show that cannot be moved. That's
the only show on iHeart that you have to take
as an iHeart station. Used to be Rush Limball, now
it's Clay and Buck. So like on WLAP, they have
to air Clay and Buck from It's required by the
National Company and so we can't be on. I'm sure
they'd love to have it. I think they have always
wanted me to do ten to one, but they cannot

(41:27):
move Clay and Buck because those are sacred Clay and
Buck cows, and so we have to be ten to
twelve or we have to start at three. So I
would rather do ten. How would you describe what happened
with Ashton Ay playing it back in my head. I
remember he didn't go to Florida. That was the last
game of the year. There was a video with him
with cash, yeah, in a car.

Speaker 6 (41:46):
Cal said, he's leaving for personal reasons. This is one
of those cows, probably either suspending or something happened, and
he's gonna cover for him, not give us the full story.
If I'm not mistaken. He said, Ash's out for personal reasons.
But the whole there was this Win had seen that Snapchat.

Speaker 4 (42:01):
It was a Snapchat video of him like with a
bunch of cash in his hand. And I don't think
it's ever been said because COVID came and everybody just
moved on. I don't think it's ever been said what happened.
And I still don't really know what happened, do you no?
But the timing that you wonder if Snapchat was a
part of it. But would you miss a road trip
over a snapchat? I wouldn't think so. I think it
was just snapchat. He had a ton of cash, and

(42:23):
I think maybe it made people worried. That's kind of
how I think it ended up going
