Quarterback, Kentucky Smarts Radio here live at Kentucky Customs It
up Fitting in Nicholasville it is beautiful day.

Speaker 4 (01:07):
Ryan Lemon has been entertaining folks during the break.

Speaker 3 (01:10):
I'm gonna still give away a bottle of Blanton's here
and just a bit at another gift basket two hundred
dollars in gift cards and UK Purdue tickets if you
get here before the end of the show. This is
the Kentucky Office Highway Safety KSR Safe Summer Driving Tour. Ryan,
you went outside and you tried to bust a watermelon
that has been coated in the protective coating used in bedliners.

(01:34):
And I watched you, and it's pretty impressive. That's a
watermelon and you had no chance of going through it.

Speaker 5 (01:40):
I had a little sledgehammer, didn't do anything.

Speaker 6 (01:42):
That was a mallet.

Speaker 5 (01:43):
They went and got a big sledgehammer. I felt like
I was Hulk Hogan out there rolling that thing around.
Bounced it like a basketball, didn't crack, didn't budge, didn't
do didn't didn't do anything to it.

Speaker 4 (01:53):
So this material they use like this really holds up.

Speaker 3 (01:57):
I mean I didn't think it would break because I
thought if they did, that wouldn't be a good look
for them.

Speaker 6 (02:03):
Probably been before, but it's yes, But I mean.

Speaker 3 (02:05):
That's pretty indestructible, so you can get this on your
truck bed and then nothing will hurt it.

Speaker 7 (02:10):
If we're still in law Familiar heading to freedom all
this week, I'd dip my fist in it to go
protect myself. But watching Ryan out there, you all heard me,
I was about ninety percent sure that the sledgehammer is
gonna kick back of him in the face, because these
things do have some bounce to him.

Speaker 5 (02:24):
I thought that water to watermelon and then't even come
close to cracking it yet.

Speaker 6 (02:29):
Its challenge.

Speaker 3 (02:32):
You're not very good, but you can come and get these.
I said till July thirty first. Apparently it's August thirty first. Oh,
so you have till August thirty first to come to
Kentucky Customs and Upfitting. If you mentioned KSR, you get
ten percent off the spray in bedliners, undercoating and rust
prevention through the end of August.

Speaker 8 (02:49):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (02:49):
If I had a truck, which I don't because I
don't care anything, But if I had a truck, I
would certainly get this.

Speaker 5 (02:55):
You think it would also help you protect against the weather.
You know, you put it into your bedliner, protect it
from damage, but also from the weather.

Speaker 4 (03:01):
There you go, look at you being smart. All Let's
go over a couple of news.

Speaker 5 (03:05):
He just told me that.

Speaker 4 (03:06):
Oh did he tell you that?

Speaker 9 (03:06):
Okay, it's called weather track.

Speaker 3 (03:08):
Yeah, all right, let's talk about how thanks here in
the news before we go back to the phones. We
it's all week right down twelve topics. We have yet
to this moment, but we will get it today, Drew,
you look at me like that. Tyron Stokes the number

(03:32):
one player in the class.

Speaker 4 (03:33):
Of twenty twenty six.

Speaker 3 (03:35):
He was assumed for a long time he was going
to go to Louisville. Uh, he's from Calvin. The connection
was with Louisville, but now reports are kind of hinting
that it might Kentuck. Kentucky has not gotten the number
one overall player since what Anthony Davis?

Speaker 4 (03:55):
I think it was Ian because Carl Towns was.

Speaker 3 (03:57):
Number two to Julil Okra four. I think it was Anthony.
Are we gonna get him?

Speaker 7 (04:03):
They've certainly made a lot of noise lately. And uh,
if you're following the Joe Tiptons and even people on
our website, you know they just had the peach Jam
this past weekend.

Speaker 9 (04:11):
So this is when you get maybe some of the.

Speaker 7 (04:13):
Best recruiting buzz all year, and uh, whatever was going
on down there, there seems to be a big momentum
push towards Kentucky.

Speaker 9 (04:20):
Gonna se say they're getting right everything.

Speaker 7 (04:22):
But uh, they are squarely in the race when it
did look like Louisville had a pretty big lead on if.

Speaker 3 (04:28):
You get the number one play. First of all, there's
still been a little bit of well, can they get
an elite recruit that's not from Kentucky. I mean, that's
still been kind of the question. This would answer it, Ryan.

Speaker 5 (04:38):
There's no doubt about that. I think that's the one
knock on Pope right now. He proved he's brought in
this really good recruiting class of transfers. But can you
go out elite lead freshman.

Speaker 7 (04:49):
That's not from g TUK he's from Louisville, but he
he's not.

Speaker 4 (04:55):
If he did now, I will still give him credit.
If he's able to get it.

Speaker 6 (05:00):
Still goes to show you the brand Kentucky still means something.
That's kind of what we were talking about last hour,
you know, with the nil moundy, it does that Kentucky
name still mean something. Clearly it does. If you have
the chance to get the number one player.

Speaker 7 (05:10):
A lot of his family grew up liking Louisville, so
it'd be a big distill him.

Speaker 4 (05:13):
Now it would be big.

Speaker 3 (05:14):
I mean, Louisville's assumed they were gonna get this kid
for a year and a half, and if at the
last minute they lose him and then also lose him
to Kentucky Drew, I think that's going to make I mean,
imagine a kid from Lexington who grows up a Kentucky fan.
We think he's coming here, and then you know, right
before his senior year, he picks Louisville. I mean, I
think that would be a pretty devastating blow.

Speaker 4 (05:36):
That might be what happens with Louisville here.

Speaker 7 (05:37):
And not all number one players in every class are
the same. Sometimes you have down years, guys turn out
to be best. This kid's looks like a guy that's
gonna be one of the dudes.

Speaker 3 (05:46):
This will be I mean, you know, we don't have
him yet, and obviously guys can work out or or not.
This will be the biggest talent to come to Lexington.
Take all of the guys cow and there were a
lot of amazing towns. If you're talking high school pedigree.
This will be the biggest high school pedigree guy they've

(06:09):
brought in since John Wall.

Speaker 5 (06:13):
That's pretty impressive.

Speaker 3 (06:13):
I mean, Anthony Davis ended up being amazing and he
was number one, but he was a late riser.

Speaker 9 (06:18):
And like almost committed to Cleveland State.

Speaker 4 (06:21):
Yeah, I mean he was gonna go to Cleveland State.

Speaker 3 (06:24):
This will be the highest pedigree guy to come to
Kentucky since John Wall if he comes, and I think,
like everybody needs to take a step back and say,
I mean, I'll go even further. Let's say comes here.
This might be that this might be one of the
five highest pedigree guys to ever commit to Kentucky. Like

(06:47):
that's not again, I'm just talking high school pedigree. I'm
not saying he's gonna be a great, like a great player,
but who in high school had a better pedigree than
this guy, Wall Mashburn, anybody else. I mean even Rex
was not ranked number one in his class. I think
it's like wal Mashburn in him.

Speaker 5 (07:08):
Yeah, you know, like Drew said, he's got his roots
in Kentucky, but he's been a consistus number one player.
I think even since last year, people were saying, even
as a junior he was the best player in the country.

Speaker 4 (07:17):
And what else have we gotten? The number one player?

Speaker 3 (07:19):
Anthony Davis was one, Carl Towns was one, Carl Towns
was two, Anthony Randall was two. BJ Boston was actually
like three. Nearlin's is actually a good one. Darlin's is
higher than but Nerlin's. People forget he was. I still
don't think he's this kid. I think it's him and
Wall but literally like a good company.

Speaker 7 (07:42):
And I'm petty anytimes we've gotten those guys. You've beaten
North Carolina, Kansas to beat Louisville. I mean before he
even puts on his sneakers in Lexington, You've got to win.

Speaker 9 (07:51):
For a kid they thought.

Speaker 4 (07:52):
They've had for for a long When is he decided?

Speaker 9 (07:54):
I don't know that he's put a date on him
all right, next.

Speaker 3 (07:57):
To love everything that's happened Cutter Bowley, it was in
now star quarterback now again our backup right now, they
say is put on twenty pounds of muscle. Ryan, you're
mister optimist here now for UK football. You Shannon was
the first on the train. Now you're on the train.
Does the twenty pounds of extra Bowlely?

Speaker 4 (08:16):
Uh? Muscly does it make you happy?

Speaker 5 (08:18):
It does make me happy because I heard during the
offseason he did everything right as far as in the
training room, working out, getting the film room, studying the
game a little bit more. Everything you've heard about Cutter
Bowllie since last season, I think has been positive. So
I think he will be a star here someday if
it's even as nice.

Speaker 4 (08:32):
Is he gonna play this year?

Speaker 5 (08:33):
He'll play some? I think he'll play some. What does
that mean, though, he'll play some?

Speaker 6 (08:38):
You see like Wi Kentucky's blowing out Old Miss?

Speaker 5 (08:42):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (08:42):
Yeah, I mean, I guess there's like three options. One
is he only plays if somebody gets hurt, right, Two
is they share time, and then three is Calzada underperforms
and Bowley is the starter.

Speaker 4 (08:59):
Which one's it gonna be?

Speaker 5 (09:01):
I think they have put some packages in for him.

Speaker 3 (09:03):
I always hear that nobody ever puts any packages in,
like they always say they're gonna put packages in.

Speaker 5 (09:09):
Who what was the quarterback from Owens Brow last year
I came.

Speaker 3 (09:11):
Here, Gavin wims It. Yeah yeah, he ran ran the
ball at the goal and miss. But that's not gonna
be Cutter Bowley the cutter Bully. I mean what do
you think? Who do you do you think he plays well?

Speaker 7 (09:24):
First of all, I was playing the video game yesterday
and Calzada got hurt and Bowley came in and went
seven for eight against Tennessee.

Speaker 9 (09:30):
So I was pretty excited about what I saw out
of Virtual Bully.

Speaker 7 (09:33):
Okay, but I think this is Calzada's job for the
year outside of injury. I do think they'll try to
get Bowley in as often as they can and your
Eastern Michigan games and really have opportunities to get him
going because I think the following year he's your starter.
But I think it's gonna be mostly Calzada this season.

Speaker 4 (09:49):
Do you think he's your starter?

Speaker 3 (09:51):
Like, like you're not going in the portal and getting
the quarterback next year?

Speaker 7 (09:54):
I don't think so. I really like what we've seen
out of Bowlie. He was putting a horrible spot last
year at Florida and at Texas quite all right, Yeah,
so you can't form too many opinions about that.

Speaker 4 (10:03):
I actually thought he played alright in Texas. Yeah, and at.

Speaker 7 (10:06):
Florida they took him off the bench without warming him
up and had him throw that little out route from interception.
But anyway, I think I do think he is the
plan for next season after a year.

Speaker 6 (10:14):
You gotta think about it too. He put on twenty
pounds of muscle this year, then another twenty pounds the
next year. That's gonna be forty pounds of muscle, and
he's gonna stop that guy. That's gonna be the most
indestructible quarterback we've ever had.

Speaker 4 (10:23):
This guy have twenty four inch pythons at that point.

Speaker 7 (10:25):
Brother, the person we need to ask is right there.
Because I watched Mario and Cutter Bowley on YouTube least.

Speaker 3 (10:30):
Oh that's right, come here, Yeah, I got the scoop. Yeah,
because I forgot you. You interviewed Cutter Bowie.

Speaker 9 (10:36):
We're not allowed in that building, but you had.

Speaker 3 (10:38):
Him on the What's Next podcast an exclusive Mario interview.

Speaker 4 (10:44):
Did he look bigger to you?

Speaker 5 (10:45):
He looked huge.

Speaker 10 (10:46):
We had a segment on our show where showed him
images from the past and it was from his freshman year,
and I instantly conceive the difference in his body from
his freshman.

Speaker 4 (10:55):
Year to so like you mean, like in it like
a chest to solid.

Speaker 5 (10:58):
He's solid.

Speaker 4 (10:59):
Now, all right, what did he say? Does he expect
to play?

Speaker 3 (11:02):
What can we learn on the What's Next podcast hosted
by Mario Maitland.

Speaker 10 (11:06):
He he's really excited about his teammates. Jamari Macklin, he said,
is up for a big year. He didn't really, you know,
talk much about himself. He said, obviously he's learned a
lot from his past the past year playing under those quarterbacks,
but he was really focused on mostly his teammates.

Speaker 4 (11:21):
But you think he's bigger, He's way bigger. He's wavery,
he's solid.

Speaker 5 (11:24):
Man.

Speaker 4 (11:25):
We'll give Mario a big round of him. Yeah here,
speaking of bigger, Uh, do you think Jamari Macklin is
the number one receiver this year?

Speaker 5 (11:31):
Yeah? I think that's why he came back. You know,
Dane left and Barryon left and Macklin came back because
he saw that champion chance to be the number one guy.
We saw glimpses of it last year. I mean, he's
super talented, and I think with him and Fred Ferrier
and come these guys on there, he'll be the main.

Speaker 4 (11:43):
Do you have you bought Nebraska gear?

Speaker 5 (11:46):
I haven't yet, but I will.

Speaker 4 (11:47):
Are you gonna wear one of those stupid corn.

Speaker 5 (11:49):
Hats if that's what it takes that day?

Speaker 4 (11:52):
Are you gonna go to link.

Speaker 5 (11:53):
Yeah. The day Kentucky's off, Nebraska hosts Michigan. So we're joa.

Speaker 6 (11:58):
Game to go to.

Speaker 3 (11:59):
That's a you know, that's a long trip. Yeah, yeah,
that's a long driving. It's a hole.

Speaker 5 (12:04):
We're not driving. You can fly from lextionit into Atlanta
to Lincoln.

Speaker 3 (12:08):
Oh, there's a there's an airport in Lincoln. Huh yeah, okay,
so you're gonna you're gonna fly do that. So you've
got to wear one.

Speaker 5 (12:14):
Of those corns. Okay, I'll do that.

Speaker 3 (12:15):
Yeah, those little like corn genitalia that come out of
people's heads.

Speaker 5 (12:19):
Well, I don't know. I want to call it that, but.

Speaker 9 (12:21):
I don't know what you're talking about, to be honest.

Speaker 4 (12:24):
Don't they wear a little maybe show? Yeah? Maybe that's
just something I think about. Who's up next?

Speaker 5 (12:32):
Bluegrass? Is up?

Speaker 4 (12:33):
Blue Grass? Go ahead, Bluegrass?

Speaker 8 (12:36):
What's going on with fellas? It's been a while, been
basketball season, as sin.

Speaker 11 (12:40):
As, I called.

Speaker 4 (12:41):
Nice to hear from you.

Speaker 8 (12:44):
Well, let's talk a little bit.

Speaker 12 (12:45):
See you, Bennet, Kentucky.

Speaker 8 (12:46):
We never we never In evaluating our coaches and what
I've noticed, the more I look into this man, the
more I see my man is a genius. I'm watching
the TBT, and no disrespect to Angley, i'man or, but
he couldn't hardly.

Speaker 11 (13:01):
Even play out there.

Speaker 8 (13:02):
You know, he's a mismatch. And how did our coach,
Mark Pope, how did he get him on the court
so often?

Speaker 4 (13:09):
Let me go further than that. Let's go further than that.

Speaker 3 (13:11):
And again, none of this is to devalue our players
last year, because I not only think they were good,
I really really really enjoyed liking them or watching him play.
Ansley Almanor couldn't even get on the court. And the TBT,
Andrew Carr, Jackson, Robinson, you know, those the Lamont Butler,

(13:32):
those dudes played in the summer League. And with the
exception of Kobe Brea, you know, I mean, did you
hear anything about him? A lot of I mean, I
don't even know if Labat Butler got into games in
the summer league. Kobe Brea had a good summer league.

Speaker 8 (13:46):
But and I just remember, go ahead, I just remember
Chaos saying we can't hide you.

Speaker 11 (13:51):
But I guess you just can't take that attitude. We
can't hide you.

Speaker 8 (13:54):
We'll find a way to put you in there and
make you.

Speaker 3 (13:56):
Amy played well, actually, Mari, he played well in the
Summer League.

Speaker 4 (13:59):
He he actually, But.

Speaker 3 (14:00):
My point is, and I appreciate the call, there is
nobody on that team. I think Brea is definitely gonna
make the Suns, but I'm not sure any of those
other guys. Amari, he might make it.

Speaker 4 (14:11):
We'll see. He'll definitely be in the G League for
a while.

Speaker 3 (14:13):
But like what we did last year with that roster,
I think Pope's gone. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think
he is going to be great here. I mean, I
think he's got He's got guys who can be stars
this year. He's got a potential top five pick in
Jaden Quainton's, he's got a potential top twenty pick in
Jasper Johnson. He's got oh Way returning. I think Jayalen

(14:35):
Lowe is going to be a star. I mean, I
I think I feel better about what Pope did last year,
drew after watching the Summer League and the TVT than
I did before.

Speaker 7 (14:45):
Yeah, I mean too, It's a small sample size, so
we'll still see what the Pope experience is like. But
you're looking at what he did with Almanor and now
your depth peast next year could be like a Yellovich
or you had last year. He has freshman Travis Perry,
Collins Handler Trent Noah as his depth. Now he has
those guys minus Perry as sophomores, plus a Malaca Marinos

(15:06):
like your third option at Big Man.

Speaker 4 (15:08):
So if he took the.

Speaker 7 (15:09):
Bench that he had last year and did what he
did now, they're much better and much deeper. I want
to see how he can develop this group.

Speaker 4 (15:15):
I mean, everybody agrees the roster is better this year
than it was last year.

Speaker 9 (15:18):
Absolutely everybody agree with Actually just on paper in the summer.

Speaker 3 (15:21):
I mean, just on paper. We'll see what happens when
they do it, but I think I don't think there's
any doubt that they are there better. Most people hear
the word remodel and immediately think of stress contractors that grow,
God said, gross ghost you prices that change halfway through
and results that don't look like what you had in mind.
Not a State Renovations, Shannon. They do it differently. You
get a full team, a designer who shops with you

(15:43):
to pick out every detail. Their Home Solutions program is
perfect mention KSR at a State Renovations and get half
off your design agreement half off half off a state
r e n os dot com as a state Renos
like Reno Nevada, or innovation at State renos dot com.
Renos is in renovations at a state Renovations. We'll take

(16:05):
a break and be right back here in Nicholsville. It's
Kentucky Sports Radio. Waterback, it is Kentucky Sports Radio. Here
live Kentucky Customs and upfitting in Nicholasville. Spray on bedliner's
window tint with a lifetime warranty. Did you see Speaking
of window tinting, did you see the video of uh
that you can get that here?

Speaker 4 (16:24):
Billy Joel in New York? Did you see that video?

Speaker 3 (16:27):
Billy Joe was like riding down the road in a
in his suburban. His window was tinted, and they pulled
up to one of those guys that like is riding
a bike pulling people. What do you call those you
know what I'm talking about? What do you call those
ricks Is it a rickshaw with a bike? I thought
rickshaw was and you pulled it, yeah, well so it's
not a rickshaw. But anyway, a guy riding the bike

(16:49):
pulling people, and there were two people and the bike
was playing Billy Joel and the and the two people
in the back were singing Billy Joel. So they're just
riding down the road and Billy Joel is like, like,
this is a documentary. Billy Joe's like. The driver goes, hey,
they're listening to you. So they're sitting there singing New
York state of Mind or whatever. He just pulls up,

(17:09):
rolls the window down, and starts singing with them.

Speaker 5 (17:13):
That's cool.

Speaker 3 (17:14):
Can you imagine you're just in your little to be
used Billy's word rickshaw and you're riding down the road
in New York and then and then the singer of
the song you're doing pulls up next to you and
start singing.

Speaker 7 (17:26):
Getting they recognize him that I've been awful. If he
thought he was gonna have his moment, no, he get
out of here, old man.

Speaker 6 (17:30):
Crazy guy.

Speaker 4 (17:34):
Man, we're having a romantic moment. Will you go away and.

Speaker 6 (17:37):
See You never know, it could be either one. It
could be Billy Joe, it could be crazy Guy.

Speaker 3 (17:41):
That's actually I hadn't thought about the fact that they
would not know who he was. Scal was the number
one player in the country.

Speaker 5 (17:48):
Yes, that's right.

Speaker 4 (17:49):
I don't you know what.

Speaker 5 (17:50):
I did not remember that, but he will forget because
he ended up eighth. Man.

Speaker 6 (17:54):
I think our team that is the worst number one
player we've ever had. Wow, that was I mean that's
true bear?

Speaker 13 (18:01):
Is it not?

Speaker 9 (18:02):
Hounds type was a little weird because when is high
school like made up?

Speaker 3 (18:06):
Yeah, he didn't have a real high school one person, rights, madam.
I'm a way to a remote. The Long John's line
is out to the road.

Speaker 5 (18:14):
Could not have Billy gets the spot?

Speaker 4 (18:16):
Now what is with you people in Long John's?

Speaker 9 (18:19):
I mean, do we need this pure chass bar into
fried fish?

Speaker 4 (18:22):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (18:22):
Why am I spending all this money trying to make
a chass bar better? Why don't I just start making
Long John's two?

Speaker 6 (18:29):
I don't know you should. I mean, everybody loves it
right now, probably because it's brand new though, right.

Speaker 4 (18:34):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (18:34):
After that, the Kentucky Oaks announced they are moving to
prime time. The Kentucky Oaks will be on NBC regular
NBC in prime time. The race will UH will go
at eight thirty under the lights in UH in Louisville
on Network TV. I would assume Drew this is step
one to the derby doing that UH sometime in the

(18:56):
near future.

Speaker 4 (18:57):
Do you like I'm shocked that.

Speaker 3 (19:00):
Horse racing has done so well that they're gonna put
the Oaks in prime time Network TV. I know that
doesn't mean what it did ten years ago, but it's
still pretty big audience. Do you like the Oaks under
the lights next year?

Speaker 7 (19:12):
At first I liked it for the attention, and then
I saw a long Facebook post from is there a
place like jack Fries in Louisville?

Speaker 4 (19:20):
Yes, there's a Jack Fries.

Speaker 7 (19:21):
They were talking about how it completely kills Louisville getting restaurants.
They said people are already on Oaks Day, they book
reservations and don't show. They said, we've seen this huge
decline already with Oaks, and now they're saying they're just
not considering the Louisville economy outside of Churchill Downs because
a lot of those places will sit empty until late
at night. So until I thought of that angle, I

(19:43):
thought it was good. But reading their posts it was
very detailed. I kind of take that angle. I'm worried
about all the places in Louisville that wait for that's.

Speaker 4 (19:50):
True, they have those parties.

Speaker 6 (19:53):
Yeah, what happened?

Speaker 4 (19:54):
Yeah, what happens with Stable Brown and all those parties.
That's yeah, I hadn't thought of it.

Speaker 7 (19:58):
It's not just Jack fries lot of like you're part
of their charitable events. And this was talking about how
Churchill is just keeping every dollar to itself and not
thinking about the city.

Speaker 3 (20:07):
But so far be it from me to take up
for a multinational corporation that doesn't even let us in
a lot of the times when Churchill downs.

Speaker 4 (20:16):
But I mean, is it is it their role to
sit and worry about the restaurants?

Speaker 3 (20:20):
I mean, if they get a chance to have their
track on network TV nationally, don't they just have to
do that? I mean, I get what Jack, that makes
perfect sense to me. But you know, if they come
to you and say we want to put your race
on network TV and it's not even the Derby, don't
you have to do that?

Speaker 6 (20:35):
If I understand Drew's side of it too, but Churchill downs,
isn't you know it's not their role to save Louisville.
You know, they're worried about Churchill downs, They're worried about
their money. But I definitely understand his side of things
too well.

Speaker 3 (20:47):
They've made that it's such a long day. I know
when I go to the Oaks. As soon as it's over,
I don't feel like doing anything. Yeah, because it is.
It is such a long day, so I can see
why the restaurs would.

Speaker 6 (21:00):
But you know, boys to Ben aren't gonna have a
gig anymore.

Speaker 4 (21:03):
That's true. The worst Travis Trent gonna do.

Speaker 5 (21:06):
He's living.

Speaker 3 (21:08):
Ryan, You've been going to this forever. If you were
at Lax, would you be glad they're going to night?

Speaker 5 (21:12):
I would hate every second of it. That means you're
not gonna get out of the track till after midnight.
You got to turn around be there at six o'clock
the next morning for the derby. I would spit and
cuss and fart and be everything that could to keep
from having to do that. So were you always doing
your mask?

Speaker 6 (21:25):
Yes, that is true. Though it's a quick turnaround. Oh,
it'd be awful.

Speaker 4 (21:28):
I mean that. You know, if the race is at
eight thirty, they will not clear that place out till
ten or eleven o'clock at night.

Speaker 3 (21:34):
Yeah, the day is gonna start at twelve thirty. Now,
you know they used to start those races at like
nine or ten in the morning. Now the day won't
even start until twelve thirty. And we'll go until even
This is gonna By the way, this is coming for
the Derby. If they're doing this for the oaks, they're
just gonna see if it works and then eventually do
it for the.

Speaker 6 (21:52):
DoD The horses get to sleep in now, they don't
have to be able at four thirty in the morning.

Speaker 4 (21:56):
Having normal hours for horses. Yea, the worst we should
ask the horses. They're very they would vote be the
would probably vote who's up? Now?

Speaker 5 (22:04):
Oh, well done, well done.

Speaker 4 (22:07):
Such a terrible joke.

Speaker 6 (22:08):
That's a great kill.

Speaker 4 (22:09):
All right, here's next.

Speaker 5 (22:10):
Rick, Kyle is up next.

Speaker 3 (22:12):
Kyle, go ahead A five nine two eight twenty two
eighty seven.

Speaker 4 (22:15):
Kyle.

Speaker 9 (22:17):
Yes, first, let me say r.

Speaker 14 (22:19):
I p to Ozzie and Hulk Hogan.

Speaker 3 (22:23):
And Malcolm to Warner and Malcolm to warn.

Speaker 14 (22:26):
Yes, that's where it always happens. In three unfortunately, and
one other thing is funny. Brought up cutter bowler early.
I have cutter bowlie scoop if you would like to
hear it.

Speaker 3 (22:36):
I'd love to hear your cutter bowly scoop if you
can give it to me in thirty seconds.

Speaker 8 (22:41):
All right.

Speaker 12 (22:42):
My boss is friends with his dad.

Speaker 14 (22:44):
His dad said that he's fine being the backup this year,
but next year, if he's not legit and the running
from the starting quarterback, he's out of here.

Speaker 4 (22:53):
Well he should I mean that should be his position.
I mean I appreciate the call.

Speaker 3 (22:56):
If he he's been here, if he puts in this
time and he is next year not the starter, then
I think it would totally make sense. Right if he
would leave, I wouldn't Nobody would fault that. I would
not fault him at all for that. You know, keeps
putting on muscle mass. Here's the thing. We haven't gone
through a UK season without a quarterback getting hurt in
like fifteen years. He's going to play some Oh yeah,

(23:17):
everybody gets hurt. Every Kentucky quarterback we've ever had has
missed some time to being hurt. So that's what's gonna
happen this year as well. We'll take a break and
be right back. This is Kentucky Sports Radio working back
Tucky Sports Radio.

Speaker 6 (23:29):
Here.

Speaker 3 (23:30):
It is Kentucky Customs and upfitting spraying bedliners, fleet up feeding,
upfitting for trucks and vans. The premiere upfitter for jeeps
and trucks in Kentucky is right here in Nicholsville on
Howard Road. I got it right, all right. Two quick things.
First of all, thank you to this man Tom who
just came over. He brought me a book from my mom.

(23:51):
It is a Bible Atlas, which is nice enough in
and of itself, because my mom will like this, but
it was made in nineteen fifteen and published in Middlesorol, Kentucky.
He brought it to give to my mom so very much.
She will very much appreciate it.

Speaker 5 (24:06):
Oh that's pretty cool.

Speaker 3 (24:07):
So that's kind of cool. I didn't even know Middlesbrough
that she will. Absolutely she will. And let me just
say about my mom. She's getting her doctorate and you know,
she already graduated from seminary. She's getting her she's getting
a doctor in religion I think it's what it's called
UH and UH at Wheaton University in Chicago. And she
just finished her first semester on Wednesday. So congratulations to

(24:30):
my mom. I mean, think again, everybody brags about their
kids and their mother, but my mom is seventy one
years old, and she is and she decides everybody else
for they retire and they rest. My mom's out there
going to Chicago to do graduate school. I just how
awesome is that?

Speaker 5 (24:46):
So if she gets all aged, you take her to
Cracker Barrel for an all or a good report card.

Speaker 3 (24:50):
She always gets an A and she always is like
she's like worried before the final, oh am I going
to pass, and like she gets all nervous, and that
we've completely flipped roles, like I have to be the
parrot going are you studying okay, then you're gonna be fine.

Speaker 5 (25:04):
We have completely flipped rolls.

Speaker 7 (25:06):
When it ves, we need to get your a little
bumper stickert, it says proud son of a four student.

Speaker 11 (25:12):
That's good.

Speaker 4 (25:12):
I would love us. I would love that.

Speaker 3 (25:14):
I also I got I will say she had a
paper due at the end of the turn and it
was due. Let's say it was due on a Monday,
and ten days before it was due, she said, I
finished my paper. I'm gonna turn it in. You know
what I said to her, don't do that. I was like,
do not turn it in ten days early. And she said,
but I'm already done with it. And I said yeah,

(25:35):
but that'll just make you look like a brown nosing
like just wait, and she goes, well, I'm not gonna
be like you and turn it in five minutes.

Speaker 6 (25:42):
Before it procrastinator, and then it makes you look bad.

Speaker 3 (25:45):
Yeah, I said, we'll wait like three days before it's due,
and then she did that, and I think that was
a better, a better.

Speaker 5 (25:51):
Yeah, you don't want the other students to call her
the teacher's pet, exactly.

Speaker 3 (25:54):
And if I'm a professor and I get a paper
ten days before it's due, I'm gonna go, well, you
probably could have done more work.

Speaker 6 (26:00):
On me paper back with a big apple there next time.

Speaker 3 (26:03):
But I did say, I was like, you don't want
to be the teacher's pet, you know. I was trying
to I'm being the parents.

Speaker 9 (26:09):
Nobody likes the kid in class. It's like, oh, you
forgot the quiz today.

Speaker 4 (26:13):
Exactly right.

Speaker 3 (26:14):
No, I didn't want mom to be like that. All right,
tell me about Stockton Morgan before I go to the fust.

Speaker 5 (26:19):
Oh, I've got a good read for you here today.

Speaker 4 (26:21):
While you're putting it up. Who's up next?

Speaker 5 (26:24):
Will is up next?

Speaker 4 (26:25):
Will go ahead? Will?

Speaker 13 (26:28):
Hey?

Speaker 11 (26:28):
Mats?

Speaker 14 (26:28):
Sorry if somebody brought this up already, but I had
to wanted to call in and say how much I
enjoyed your segment the other night with Myron on fun
Facts of Massachusetts and uh.

Speaker 4 (26:40):
Yeah, okay, before you go on.

Speaker 3 (26:42):
We they're doing this thing fifty states in fifty days, right,
and so every day you focus on a new state.
So the day the other day when I did the show,
it was Massachusetts, and they were making fun of me, saying,
that's not how you say it.

Speaker 4 (26:55):
I said, Massachusetts. They're like, it's Massachusetts.

Speaker 6 (27:00):
Yeah, yeah, how do you say Massachusett?

Speaker 4 (27:02):
They got those t's in there, they're optional. It's a
couple of them, Massachusetts.

Speaker 5 (27:08):
In Middlesborough, it's Massachusetts.

Speaker 3 (27:10):
Everybody else, Well, that's how I say Massachusetts.

Speaker 4 (27:16):
But go ahead.

Speaker 14 (27:18):
I thought Myron was worried about the dump button there.
But last question, do we have a date for the pardon?
I think over this year?

Speaker 3 (27:26):
Uh? Well, as I said yesterday, I'm going to actually
to go with my mom at some point, I'm going
to go to Chicago and do it with them on
a day we just but we have not picked out
the day yet.

Speaker 4 (27:36):
I'm we're gonna do it from their studios up there,
I guess. Yeah. And they've got a TV show now,
did you see that, Big Tom? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (27:46):
Ste you know they've been on this show for I
guess they started whatever year the Harambi thing was, so
that was like twenty thirteen. And now they're going to have,
along with a bunch of other people, their own television
show on FS one.

Speaker 5 (27:57):
So they love it. They love doing KSR once together.
It's a live show and they can talk to callers
live on the other they.

Speaker 6 (28:03):
Could get on FS one, we could get on FS two.

Speaker 4 (28:05):
Then right now, that's a lot familiar. There's other stuff
all right now, tell me.

Speaker 5 (28:10):
About this this and this read is gonna knock your
socks off.

Speaker 4 (28:12):
No, it's not.

Speaker 5 (28:13):
Love the house but not the kitchen. Stockton's renovation loans
were made for that buy it, fix it, love it
all in one loan. And you know, home prices of change,
say buy fix it, love it. Yeah, buy it, fix it,
love it.

Speaker 4 (28:28):
Okay, you just just bring it down.

Speaker 5 (28:30):
Home prices have changed, but so have your options. Stockton
Mortgage has access to programs like down payment assistance, low
down payment loans, and more ways to help you buy
with confidence. Vis It's Stockton dot com Doctor Mortgage in
the last a two five to nine equal housing lender
in a molest consumer access dot Org.

Speaker 6 (28:44):
Back to you, Matthew today, I write that.

Speaker 5 (28:47):
I don't know. I got it from the sales rep.
So I'm assuming maybe it was Who's up next? Dalton
is up next?

Speaker 4 (28:54):
Dalton, Go ahead, Dalton, All.

Speaker 12 (28:57):
Right, you'll let me fired up a little bit Churchill
Down thing, living not far from there, And ever since
I started working right down there, working with people that
live in the neighborhood, I've realized how much.

Speaker 13 (29:08):
This is not the Commonwealth of Kentucky. This is the
Commonwealth of churchill Down. Whether it's from the historical racing
machines quote unquote to the running the fences down the
middle of the road so you completely block off the
neighborhood you take over for a weekend. Those people can't
sell their parking spots in their yards, they can't sell
food like they used to back in the day, and

(29:30):
that to bund up every little bit of land there
and now moving the time as the only consideration for
them that the city, which the city in the state,
would let Churchill Downs do anything they want. Churchill Downs
could call may Or Greenberg tonight and say, hey, next Thursday,
we're thinking about setting all the streets.

Speaker 11 (29:45):
On fire down here.

Speaker 13 (29:47):
They will do y'all plan on cleaning up when you're done.

Speaker 12 (29:50):
No, we still plan on bringing those millionaires in.

Speaker 13 (29:53):
Yep, all right, set them on fire. We'll put it
on the news.

Speaker 3 (29:57):
I mean, I don't totally I disagree with you. I mean,
Churchill is an arrogant entity. I don't think there's any
doubt about that. But the Derby is important to the state.
It's especially important to the city of Louisville. So I
get what you're saying, though, I mean, I listen that
the experience.

Speaker 12 (30:16):
I don't blame him for acting that way.

Speaker 13 (30:18):
If I was in that position, it would be very hard,
could not throw your weight around. And I don't really
blame the state for cawtowing to him either. It's just
that's how it is.

Speaker 3 (30:27):
And I agree with you and the experience, and I
appreciate the call as at Kentucky. And the experience of
going to the Derby is worse now than it was
fifteen years ago, like he's talking about. You know, we
used to walk the neighborhoods around it and it was
the most fun thing in the world. And that experience
has gotten worse over the years, Like it's not as cool,
it's not as much of a party as it used

(30:49):
to be. I mean that's right. At the same time,
for one weekend, Kentucky is the center of the world,
the sporting world, and that we're not gonna get that
any other way. So it's I kind of it's odd.
I kind of see both sides.

Speaker 7 (31:05):
You know, he can't blame Churchill, that's what those people can't.
But like Meney, yeah, I mean you you hear from
locals that have been priced out of the infield forever.
You know, you can throw on pair of shorts of
the tank top and whatever it costs go sit in
the infield in your lawn chair. Now, I think even locals,
it's gotten to where a lot of them can't afford

(31:25):
to go.

Speaker 4 (31:25):
You just have to be careful.

Speaker 3 (31:26):
It's kind of like Ryan with the UK football when
we talked many years ago about how they changed everything
for the people, the regular fans that were tailgating, et cetera.
You can do that as long as things keep cooking,
but then one day, if things get bad, you may
be going back to those people and saying come back,
and they're less likely to come back.

Speaker 4 (31:46):
Right.

Speaker 3 (31:46):
So, UK football, I think's experiencing experiencing that right now,
team's not as good tickets aren't as exciting, and now
a lot of these people are not coming back and
the school's like, what's happening?

Speaker 4 (31:56):
Why is this happening?

Speaker 3 (31:57):
Well, you kind of ran them off ten years ago,
and that was easy to do when things were going well.

Speaker 4 (32:02):
But when they don't go well, then what.

Speaker 5 (32:04):
Do you do. It's hard to win the fan base
back when something like that happens. Man, you know, it's
hard to get them to come back and buy back
in you mentioned the football. It's a great example. But
like that Color talked about in Louisville. You know, I
remember when Saturday used to be Louisville's day at the
I mean, Friday was Doable's day at the track. Then
it was Thurby. Then it's when that's all.

Speaker 4 (32:21):
It's out, they go Oaks Friday, Therby. What do they
call Wednesday? Wednesday? Wednesday? And now they have five oh Tuesday.

Speaker 5 (32:30):
Yeah, they keep taking it away from the locals that
have made it.

Speaker 3 (32:34):
Well there, it's gonna start telling the locals come in April,
all right, you don't you don't, you don't get you don't.

Speaker 4 (32:39):
Get to be part of it until then, who's next?
SETH is up? Next? Seth go ahead, seth.

Speaker 14 (32:45):
Hey, allay, are you there?

Speaker 4 (32:49):
Still there?

Speaker 5 (32:51):
Have it left?

Speaker 4 (32:52):
We're gone?

Speaker 6 (32:53):
No, we're no longer here?

Speaker 9 (32:54):
Are you there?

Speaker 4 (32:55):
Okay? Bye?

Speaker 5 (32:56):
Thank you?

Speaker 4 (32:56):
Who's next?

Speaker 5 (32:58):
Mad is up next?

Speaker 8 (32:59):
Matt?

Speaker 4 (32:59):
Go ahead?

Speaker 5 (32:59):
Man?

Speaker 4 (33:01):
What's up?

Speaker 8 (33:02):
Guys?

Speaker 4 (33:04):
What's going on?

Speaker 5 (33:06):
Guys?

Speaker 11 (33:08):
I just want to say a couple of things. I'm
sitting out in my garden and that was hilarious. I'm
sitting out my garden, just finished meditating, and I just
want to give big, big applause to your mom.

Speaker 2 (33:24):
Man.

Speaker 11 (33:24):
She sounds like a wonderful, amazing woman and that's probably
why you're so successful.

Speaker 4 (33:31):
Well, that's very nice you.

Speaker 3 (33:32):
To whatever extent I have any success, it certainly wouldn't
be without her, So you're you're exactly.

Speaker 4 (33:38):
Right about.

Speaker 8 (33:41):
Well.

Speaker 11 (33:41):
I kind of like to give a shout out to
my mom. My dad was a Baptist pastor for sixty
two years and my mom. He passed away several years ago,
but my mom still shares his journey. He has this
saying everybody she meets, she I don't know if I'm
supposed to talk about religion on the show, but everybody

(34:02):
she meets, he asked. My dad had a saying saying,
if are you a winner or loser in life. And
you know, depending on what they would say, he would
you know, to be a winner, you have to have
the Lord in your life. And my mom still does
that and she's ninety two years old.

Speaker 3 (34:23):
That's very nice years old. You should be very embraced
those moments. Let me ask you a question, are you
still You're still doing the meditating? You you only tend
to call Fridays towards the end of the show. Is
that like your Is that your post meditation time?

Speaker 13 (34:40):
It is?

Speaker 11 (34:41):
And I have I have upgraded my meditation. I've actually
learned some new things since I got a little bit of.

Speaker 4 (34:55):
Notoriety on the show.

Speaker 11 (34:56):
People at work have been talking to me and teaching
me newer things. Shout out Ben stem.

Speaker 3 (35:02):
But Ben Stidham, Yes, Ben Stendham knows how to meditate.

Speaker 4 (35:08):
Well listen.

Speaker 3 (35:09):
I hope you and Ben Stidham and everybody in Breathitt
County gets all yours in on and thank you very
much for calling.

Speaker 11 (35:18):
It's Timond. It's Timond.

Speaker 4 (35:20):
Oh. I was like, what Hanman?

Speaker 3 (35:23):

Speaker 4 (36:20):
Happy Gilmore Too is released tonight. Are you ready for it?
I'll probably watch it next week Sunday.

Speaker 6 (36:26):
Sorry, yeah, I'll watch it this weekend. At some point
I was a big fan of the first one. I
lovebody that didn't like the first one.

Speaker 4 (36:32):
Yeah. MJF, by the way, is the son of Happy
Gilmore of Adam Sandler. Yeah, I just thought you'd appreciate that.
Sound like you appreciate that, do you.

Speaker 7 (36:40):
You like I'm a little worried, you know, sequels and
redoing movies really wrong, but I am excited.

Speaker 9 (36:46):
Uh, gonna do like a family movie night.

Speaker 7 (36:48):
My sister's in, my parents are both recovering, so gonna
gonna get the family together and.

Speaker 9 (36:53):
Have a viewing this weekend.

Speaker 4 (36:54):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (36:55):
I won't go into the details, but Drew's been going
through a lot in the last couple of weeks with
his family, So everybody say a prayer for his events.
I don't know how much you've talked.

Speaker 9 (37:05):
About mentioned it, and they're doing well.

Speaker 7 (37:06):
They're recovering from surgeries though, but I think for everyone
that prayed and reached out already, so thank you.

Speaker 3 (37:10):
So that that's very nic All right, Lexington sc and
Louisville Louisville City.

Speaker 4 (37:15):
Are we going to win, mister Jersey.

Speaker 5 (37:17):
Yeah, Louisville doesn't win in this town. Come on, man,
you have to. It's gonna be a great crowd and
be excited. Sold that's awesome to have that. It's a
great facility out there.

Speaker 7 (37:25):
Sold out seven seven o'clock yep. I just got a
text this morning though with my details for the march
to the match. I'm gonna go early and tell they're marching.
We're marching into the stadium. I don't know where we
start the street.

Speaker 4 (37:40):
This is all new.

Speaker 7 (37:41):
I'm still getting these messages during the show. But I'm
gonna get out there. There's a concert. I'm gonna make
a little early evening of it before the match.

Speaker 6 (37:47):
Can you bet off? Can you bet this on DraftKings?

Speaker 4 (37:50):
I bet you can. You just have to look for it,
but I bet I bet you can. Yeah, this is
I mean again, if you don't follow that league.

Speaker 3 (37:56):
Louisville I think has won I want to say two
out of the last three years, and one of the
best teams in the league, Lexington with their first chance
or first crack at him here in LEXI I think
they played in louis earlier this year.

Speaker 5 (38:06):
Now, the Louisville guys wearing red jerseys.

Speaker 4 (38:09):
I don't know, but there's this is their colors are
normally green.

Speaker 5 (38:13):
Right, and they're wearing blue for this, just for this game. Yeah,
that's why I went up the Louisville team purple.

Speaker 4 (38:18):
Did you see the story about the Memphis football player.

Speaker 6 (38:21):
Shit, oh yeah, yeah, I love this story.

Speaker 3 (38:23):
It's a great story. So I guess the Memphis football player.
I guess he got mad at his at his teammates.
He was upset Adham. I guess for I don't know,
for just the way they played, so they were you know,
I think he was transferring. So their defensive back sent
the quarterback for Texas San Antonio. These texts here you go.
Here's the playbook. Here are this all the signals signals

(38:47):
far left of the coverages. If they run, they they
run quarters, so none of the safeties can cover. No
re routes on the slout, on the slot. The field
safety is the weakest link when they run out of
eligibility playing with number Z row. Here are all the
play calls he sent them before the game. They used it.
They beat Memphis by one score. Memphis missed the playoff

(39:09):
by one game. Basically, this dude probably cost Memphis the
chance at winning the conference championship and going to the playoffs.

Speaker 6 (39:17):
Now that player then transferred to Purdue, I think right, yeah,
So now if you're Purdue.

Speaker 4 (39:22):
It just came out yesterday.

Speaker 6 (39:23):
Yeah, I know you got to. You got that guy
on your team, now, can you trust him?

Speaker 4 (39:27):
That's a good question. If you were perdue, would you
want that guy to play.

Speaker 7 (39:30):
I don't know anything that's happened on this, but I
did go to the Purdue website just to see it
read about the guy, and he wasn't on their roster,
So I don't know if something happened in the last
twenty That was this morning, And I said bold, if
you were a.

Speaker 4 (39:42):
Memphis fan, oh right, at this, at this story, I'd
be furious at this story.

Speaker 6 (39:46):
Well, imagine it's Kentucky. Put Kentucky in that situation. Take
Memphis out of it and say it's Kentucky. And they
lost by one score or one went away from going
to it and it.

Speaker 3 (39:54):
Was forty four to thirty eight, so they gave up
forty four points. So clearly you know had an impact.

Speaker 6 (40:00):
Oh absolutely, Yeah. If they're scoring that many points against
you and you're you know, Texas San Antonio.

Speaker 4 (40:05):
Yeah, well text, they were good, but that was a
big game for them.

Speaker 7 (40:08):
My two favorite things are the quarterback that's getting the info,
why don't you just send in like cron and Moji's
back every response he was like doing Lol, just didn't
know what's to do with it? But then also that
poor safety getting called out. I think you got to
fight the guy. I mean most of it was pretty vague,
but he's like also number zero, the safety, he's terrible.

Speaker 3 (40:27):
Go right at him now. I mean, I wonder what
happened with the Texas San Antonio quarterback. Did he go
tell his coaches? Did they use it as part of
the game plan. I mean that hasn't been said yet. Yeah,
you have to assume they did.

Speaker 4 (40:38):
But if you were a coach and.

Speaker 5 (40:40):
Your player came with that, do you use it? I
think you take it and then you kind of tiptoe
into it. But then during the course of the game,
if you realize this stuff's right, man, I think you
go all in. I think you lean into it.

Speaker 4 (40:50):
Hang on a second, You only cheat if you need to.

Speaker 5 (40:54):
I think, because you know, if this guy was feeding
you some bad info, he could have been.

Speaker 3 (40:57):
You know, you don't think the coach has a responsibility
maybe to say to the other coach, hey, this happened.

Speaker 5 (41:03):
It's college fool.

Speaker 4 (41:04):
No, not at all, like mister sportsmanship.

Speaker 5 (41:09):
You know in baseball they steal signs. Everybody's stealing signs.

Speaker 4 (41:12):
You're always against them stealing signs.

Speaker 5 (41:14):
I am, but they do it. I mean they're gonna
do it. So I bet those coaches knew that what
the guy said, but wait until the game started to
see if it was accurate. Once they found it was accurate,
they went all in with it.

Speaker 4 (41:24):
Interesting And then if you're the way did it get out?

Speaker 6 (41:26):
That's the thing. If you're the team that got it,
why would you want to leak that?

Speaker 3 (41:30):
And I'm fascinated as to how it got out when
we're the chain of events because it is the actual
text message that is out.

Speaker 7 (41:38):
I think it was a Memphis site that reported it,
which they would have the incentive, but I don't know
how that.

Speaker 4 (41:43):
But how would they side have known that they sent it.
That's fascinating to me as.

Speaker 6 (41:48):
To how that, Like somebody would have had to have
almost hacked into that account to get it, because why
would you share.

Speaker 5 (41:54):
That's why you have to change your signs.

Speaker 3 (41:56):
UK, Remember we had that game where we didn't change
our signs and that it didn't work out. It didn't
work out too well. Hey, Nichols Biel, thank you all
very much for coming out tonight. I give yourselves a
big round of applause. Yes, sir, we appreciate it. Thank
you to Kentucky Customs and Upfitting. Remember you have until
the end of August. Use my code KSR and you

(42:19):
and RUSS prevention.

Speaker 4 (42:20):
Let's go Lexington sc Let's get the win.

Speaker 3 (42:23):
And we are now, by the way, just thirty three
days from the first kickoff of Kentucky versus Toledo.

Speaker 9 (42:30):
I'm starting to fill it.

Speaker 7 (42:31):
I'm not Ryan drinking the kool aid yet, but I
am excited just to start it, get it going, and.

Speaker 4 (42:35):
I'm gonna steal one of these footballs. Is that all right?

Speaker 9 (42:37):
If I haven't put this one down, I appreciate.

Speaker 4 (42:39):
Thank you guys very much. We appreciate it. This has
