This is Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Now
here's Matt Jones.

Speaker 2 (00:35):
Welcome everyone. It is Kentucky Sports Radio. It is Tuesday,
August the twelfth. I'm Matt Jones on a beautiful day
once again in Lexington, Kentucky. We are two and a
half weeks from start football. We're two weeks from the
opening of Ksbar. We are three and a half weeks
from the start of the NFL season. You know, we

(00:57):
are like two weeks before our first NFL podcast tape.
There's a lot going on, but today we're here with you.
If I'm nine Clark's Pup Punch Up Full nine, If
I'm nine two eight twenty two eighty seven. Avis not
auto glass. Text machine is seven seven to two seven
seven four five two five four. In this disition sponsor
by the t J. Smith officer called TJ. I'll make
them pay. Ryan is gone, I've got Drew, I've got Shannon.

(01:20):
I have fourteen topics. Uh. They are of various significance,
from very significant to not significant at all. I think
we'll do one of these where you just will say
a number, OK, and I'll do them. Is that alright
with you, Shannon?

Speaker 4 (01:35):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (01:35):
I want to make sure. I want to make sure
it's okay with you. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:38):
I'm the most important one here, so yeah, sure it's
okay with me.

Speaker 2 (01:41):
But before we do that, I want to tell a
quick story. Can I tell a story before? I sort
of thing? So you know, we went to Pittsburgh for
the Reds game. Did the show there yesterday. I made
a mistake before the show started. I didn't look at
the checkout time of the Airbnb's supposed to be ten.
That seems early. I agree, I assume eleven. Wouldn't you

(02:01):
always assume? I always assume every hotel is noon. But
that's become a change. I think when I was younger,
every hotel said noon, and now they're like eleven. And
now some of them, Shannon, are starting to creep to ten,
and I would argue that should be illegal.

Speaker 3 (02:14):
Well minus ten, oh, yours is ten on Earth, herbnb
is ten.

Speaker 2 (02:19):
Why do you want some everybody out so quick?

Speaker 3 (02:21):
Because you got to give the cleaning person enough time
to come in because check in time is three o'clock
and some of these people that clean I have to
do like five six condos, so they're scrambling. You got
to give them enough time.

Speaker 2 (02:32):
Well I did not know. So I was doing the
show and then moments before we said we started, the
guy just walked in. And I want you to imagine
again when you're like running in Airbnb and you walk
in and a person's doing a radio show in your
house and it looks it looks straight, you know, yeah yeah,

(02:52):
And I was like, sir, I'm doing a radio show,
and he just he goes okay, and then he just
walked away. And so I was like, to finish the
show yesterday, and you got friends with their knives out
and got their knives out, and then it's it's it's
a whole thing. So we get in the car. Soon
it's over and we drive back. My buddy wanted to
go to the Reds game and the Snoop Dogg concert

(03:14):
last night, so we're trying to get home in time
for for the do O double G. By the way,
I heard that that that stadium was full. I heard
that maybe some families didn't know the kind of concert
Snoop puts on, and that some families may have left
in the middle of it. Shannon, I put that on
the family, right if you if you don't know what

(03:34):
Snoop Dogg does, that's on you. That's not on the raids.
But there were people complaining how could the Reds have him?
I would argue, it's on them, Shannon. Don't you think Yeah?

Speaker 3 (03:43):
I mean I think you should know when it's Snoop
Dogg night at Great American Ballpark.

Speaker 2 (03:47):
Yeah, what do you think you think this is going
to be family dog It's it's it's Snoop dog I
mean literally, murder was the case that they gave him,
and he was charged with murder. So I don't know.
I just when does the concert fit into the night.
Is it like the seventh inning stretches? The game last
night went really quick, so they had a long delay

(04:08):
before they start the game. But what they do is
when the game is over, they open parts of the
field people can run on it, and then they let
everybody move to the side so that they can see.
But I mean, tickets were going for hundreds of dollars.
People wanted to see Snoop Dog. But anyway, so we're
driving back and I forgot to do something that I
always do, which is when I get a rental car,

(04:29):
Shane and get satellite radio because I want to be
able to flip the music and I like, you know,
this is going to shock you. I like having the
control of the music, et cetera. Forgot to do that.
So that meant, you know, it's either listened to FM
and AM stations in Western Pennsylvania. I've already listened to
most of my podcast. Plus, they don't want to hear
these are not like hardcore sports people is they don't

(04:50):
want to hear Bill Simmons or that Pittsburgh show we
listened to the day. They don't want to hear Mark Madden.
So what I did is I was like, all right,
I'm going to turn on sports radio because I never
listened to it. Now's the moment. The first thing I
do is turn on New York sports talk radio just
to listen to them. Why about the Yankees and the Mets.
I'm gonna go ahead and tell you I highly recommend

(05:11):
when a team is losing that's high profile. Shannon turned
on their radio. Right pick the city that's had the
biggest heartbreak recently. Turn on sports radio there, Drew. I
find it very fun. And when it's New York and
they're like fire everybody because the Mets and the Yankees
they're stinking right now, that's great entertaining. A good meltdown

(05:32):
could be entertaining, as long as it's not your your
team exactly as everyone else is misery. When we're losing,
it's not good. Then I flipped to National Sports Radio.
It's just so boring, and I'm not I mean, I
know I do it, but for in general, like they
don't have the passion, you know, when it's all Patrick
Mahomes and Dak Prescott training camp. But believe me, because

(05:53):
I have to do it. I know what it is.
So then I decided to do something I don't do
a lot. Shannon and my our old boss here used
to say don't talk about competition, right, but you know what,
like that's part of it, right, like you do you
do talk about I have not listened to the Cutman,

(06:13):
Alan Cutler, in like ever, at least certainly in many,
many years. And he comes on, I think right after that,
on another station. So I thought, you know what, Chen
and I never listened to the Cutman. Everything I hear
always has filter.

Speaker 3 (06:29):
You get no filter, and he gets he's no filter.

Speaker 2 (06:33):
I need no filter. I think I had heard one
segment once because it was like, you know, I don't
remember why i'd heard it, but but so I turned
on the podcast for no filter. Alan Cutler is still
so Alan Cutler. And let me say, as someone who
who I grew up watching Alan Culor, so I find

(06:57):
Alan Cutler entertaining with his Alan cutlerness. People think I
talk a lot. He doesn't stop talking. There's like no commercials,
I mean, don't you agree? And and and there is
some person on the show named Jimmy. Oh yeah, Jimmy, Jimmy, Hey, Jimmy,

(07:19):
Well you do it, Jimmy. Jimmy, far as I can tell,
doesn't speak, but but but he's he's always talking about
Jimmy but I'm listening. He's talking about UK football. He's
going into a lot of detail about UK football. I
mean he he is like just UK football football. And
then all of a sudden, we're like twenty five minutes
in and you know, time is passing. I'm looking at

(07:40):
the you know, I'm driving through now Zanesville, Ohio. I'm like,
isn't that where the monkey ate the people's face? Do
you remember that? Remember that the monkey escaped? I don't remember.
It happened as I had a zoo. A guy had
a zoo, I think, and somebody came and opened all

(08:02):
the doors and the animals just took over town. I mean,
I think it's a Robin Williams movie. But then I also,
I'm telling you Janesville Museum, I'm telling you look it up. Zanesville, Ohio.
There was like an animal takeover. One of them became mayor,

(08:23):
and it was a whole It was a it was
a whole thing. Forty eight animals were killed by law
enforcement because they were just running around. It was in Zanesville.

Speaker 3 (08:33):
But then one of it. You said that all those
animals got killed, but one animal had their last life,
right was the one that ate the man's face.

Speaker 2 (08:39):
I don't remember if that's the same story. There was
a time and animal ate a woman's face. This is
not sweet or anything, but like, I don't know if
that was in Zanesville or if that was in a
different place. Point being when I drive through Sanesville, I
always think of that story. So I'm driving through Zanesville.
If you've made that drive from Pittsburgh to Columbus, not
a lot of things to look at. Alan Cutler's talking
about football Jimmy. He's just sitting there doing Jimmy, Jimmy, Jimmy, Jimmy, Jimmy.

(09:03):
And then all of a sudden again I'm just trying
to enjoy my drive, Shinn, and he just starts attacking me.

Speaker 3 (09:10):
About what.

Speaker 2 (09:11):
Out of nowhere, He just starts attacking me, and he's like,
you know, when I don't know what's going on, I say,
what's not going well? I say it like nobody would
ever accuse me of ever acting like I know what's
happening and I don't know. Maybe then he goes, but
you know who does, that's Matt Joe. I'm just driving

(09:31):
through Saintsville, Ohio. Catch it the definition of catching strays?
He just starts blasting me, and he's like Mat Joe's
always saying saying he knows everything. He doesn't know everything.
Yeah he's got good ratings. What's that have to do
with anything? He was, but he doesn't know anything. Just
remember that, right, Jimmy, Right, Jimmy, what do you say,
dear Jimmy, Jimmy, Jimmy, Jimmy. And it's like it's like

(09:53):
two and a half minutes of me just catching strays
and my friend Tall is sitting at the front seat
with me, and in classic him, every time Cutler say
it says something, he just looks at me and goes
boo yah in your face like he's like cutman, no filter,

(10:13):
and he's just so I'm just taking it the whole
way and shit, And I didn't do anything to him.
I haven't. I haven't said one bad word about him.
And here I am in a Ohio just taking it
from Cutler for two or three minutes and then he
moves on and goles. But but but I love Matt Jones.
Back back to UK football.

Speaker 3 (10:30):
Did you ever consider it calling in at anyone?

Speaker 5 (10:32):
Wow?

Speaker 2 (10:33):
Well actually I did, because he asked for calls. No
one called. I was gonna call like Matt from Lexington
and then but I but I didn't because you know,
I was watching out for the animals in the street
in Zanesville. But it's just you know, here, you think
you have a relaxing Monday drive turn on. That's what
I get for turning on sports radio. Why did I
turn it on? I should have just listened to Willie's

(10:54):
Road Health. And you know when we leave here, I'd
say most days on my drive home, I go to
the cup Man usually Clay and Buck come on, and
I'm like, oh crap, and I need I need some
sports talking, and cut Man's there for me. Clay no filter, Well,
well no filter so there. So anyway, I didn't like that.
That would be weird. You just think you're going to
tune in and hear what they have to say about

(11:14):
camp and start talking. Because they were just talking when
I was on the New York States. They were just
talking about Juan Soda and they think it's really funny
that he only hit solo home runs. So one guy's
like Wan solo and then they just crack up. I'm
used to that level of banter. And then they're like
Matt Jones knows well.

Speaker 3 (11:32):
Billy was telling me that he had something to say
about me, saying I don't know anything about sports.

Speaker 2 (11:36):
And all this, and that we acknowledge it. We don't
know anything.

Speaker 3 (11:39):
I forgot. I didn't you know know that Cutlers played
college sports or any kind of sports.

Speaker 2 (11:44):
Listen, Jimmy, we we don't know anything. I want to
be very clear. Everyone listening to this knows we have
no knowledge. You hear, Ryan and list It's the preamble
to the constitution. He can't he can't say anything. The
whole year of Kobe bray An entire year, I was
the eleventh man on the Middlesborough High School team. They

(12:08):
asked me to be a manager politely. So you're not
listening to this show for expertise, you're listening for entertainment.
I still I've called our quarterback Zach Calzada all year.
We're gonna get you there, Will and Nick Calzada, your boys, Eric,

(12:34):
Zach Calzada. There's actually someone on cast board whose user
name is Nick Calzada. Will Wolford, in your honor, he
proved your point. So it is Zach. It is Zach,
not Nick, not Nick. You you usually say Nick. Okay,
Zach Calson. This is a sorter proof. I don't of

(12:56):
all the things you could accuse us of, I don't
think it's a thing like we know more sports now.
Since you brought up Nick, since you brought up Zach Calzada,
there's a lot of rumblings that this job is not
his yet, that Cutter Cutter Peanut Butter has been has

(13:17):
like that has been better in camp. I mean, let's
be real. If you talk to people that have been there,
there are people who say Cutter Bowley has been better.
I think the plan is still to start Zach. But
if you ask the people that go to camp and
the people that are in practice, they will tell you
Cutter Bowley has been better. Do you think there's a
chance we get to that first game and Cutter Cutter

(13:38):
Peanut Butter is starting.

Speaker 5 (13:39):
No.

Speaker 2 (13:40):
I mean I think Cutter will play at some point
in the year. But what if he is better, If
he's better, should you not start him or is it
just you? I wouldn't week one, Okay, if you've invested
in Calzada, he's got one year. Cutters your future. If
you throw him out there, if he's been better, all
five weeks are all six weeks A kad like, how

(14:01):
much how much do you have to see? I mean,
if that were the case, then you'd start him. But
he's been with the twos a lot. The two practices
I went to, he did look great, but Kaalzada is
taking the snaps the first and Cutter as everything I've
heard around him, he has the right attitude. He knew
when Kalzada signed that Kalzada would likely be the first

(14:23):
quarterback and that Bowie's the long term option. And by
all accounts it sounds like he's patient and knows that
he's the future and he's not in a hurry. But
I mean, yeah, if he were just absolutely killing it
every day, you'd have to go. I just think, if
I think, you have to think about it, because if
you talk to it again, they don't open the practice,
so it's hard to really know. But if you talk
to the people that go, they will all say they'll
make sure nobody's looking, they'll make sure Jimmy's not there,

(14:46):
and then they'll say Cutter's been better. He has looked awesome.
Without a doubt. This is the best two deep they've
had of the Stoops era. The quarterback situations better than
it's been in the Stoops era. That' seen like bold statement.
I can't think of a second option that has been
this close to the first option. And then even behind them,

(15:07):
you got bo Allen and you're fifteen and a couple
freshmen that look all right. Hey, if I'm nine two
eight oh twenty two eighty seven seven seven two seven
seven four five two five four, we are going to
be filtered all day, just so you know, full of filter. Uh,
it is me, it is Shannon, it is Zach. This
is Kentucky Sports Radio. Welcome back, takey Sports Radio. If
I'm notine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven text

(15:27):
ma sheet seven seven two seven seven four five two
five four. What person rides Matt? I do listen to
the cut man sometimes he takes shots at you all
the time, and Shannon, actually he doesn't say much bad
about uh Drew o' ryan. Also, no one takes more
shots at you on there than Brad Taylor. Who's Brad Taylor?

Speaker 3 (15:48):
That's all you need to say?

Speaker 2 (15:49):
Who is that?

Speaker 3 (15:49):
Who can?

Speaker 2 (15:50):
I mean, I'm not even being a jerk.

Speaker 3 (15:51):
Who is I don't know.

Speaker 2 (15:53):
I think that's the guy that follows color on that station,
on what stage on his station? He has a there's
a person named Brad Taylor that has a show. It's
like a gambling thing, he always says. The blogger boys
across town. Blogger boys.

Speaker 3 (16:07):
Yeah, so you do listen to this stuff, then you're
all in.

Speaker 2 (16:11):
I turn it off when Brad Taylor starts. I do
listen to Color. Blogger boy. I haven't been called a
blogger in a long time either. The last time I
would say I'm regular in quite some time. The blogger boys,
Actually that would be that sounds like, yeah, that would
be a Color does reference the show a lot. It's
not always negative, but he does bring us up a lot. Uh,

(16:33):
what's rights? I feel like Shannon was about to cook
and you cut him off being upset about Color. No,
I want you go. I like when you get angry.

Speaker 3 (16:40):
He is an old man. He's so insignificant. Nobody even
listens to him, except for apparently you and Drew. It
was one day, I you know, if the tree falls
into forest, nobody hears ITHA what's the matter?

Speaker 2 (16:55):
I love it? All right? What before I go? The
phones here? One to fourteen? Uh, Shandon, I'll let you
pick first. Yep.

Speaker 3 (17:01):
I'll go number three.

Speaker 2 (17:03):
Number three. John Gruden says he wants to coach in
the SEC. Let's say we go three and nine, knowing
he has said I want to coach in the SEC,
and there are only sixteen schools and there's going to
be only probably two that have an opening, maybe three.
Do we start to hear all of that at the

(17:24):
end of the year. If we were to go three
and I've already seen fans making memes and he's photoshopped
on the sideline. I think Gruden's entertaining, and I think
he's doing well in media with Barstool. I don't know
that you can hire a guy who hasn't coached college
since the eighties. That's not what I asked you. I
asked you, if we go three and nine, how much

(17:46):
of that it will be out there? Shannon, you're shaking yes.

Speaker 3 (17:49):
That would be my first call. I would love to
have John Gruden here. I think we'd be crazy not
to want to have him here.

Speaker 2 (17:54):
You get John Gruden or John some Raw, Let's say
they both would say yes.

Speaker 3 (17:58):
Gruden all day, not even a question.

Speaker 2 (18:01):
If some araws on the table, I don't even consider
what I do is offer him a coordinator position and
coached college in almost forty years football though. Yeah, but
a college game is I'm not trying. I'm not trying
to run stough so off. I'm just saying to you,
at the end of this football season, after that statement,
they are going to be at least one or two

(18:23):
SEC fan bases that are going to be having this conversation.
And if you were to place Vegas odds on which
one is most likely to have it, we would probably
be the odds on favorite would probably be US in
Arkansas if we're being if we're being honest, well, I
don't think ten or more of those schools can even
consider him because they're a lot further along than we are.
It would have to be a looking at. I think

(18:44):
it's UK and Arkansas would be the two that would
would look at.

Speaker 3 (18:47):
Imagine Arkansas gets them, has a great you know, great success,
great run with Gruden, and it could have been US.

Speaker 2 (18:53):
But remember this is a school Mitch Barnar are almost
hired Bill Parcells. Let's just keep that in mind. People
forget about that. It's one of the great kind of
in the back of UK history moments is that they
had Bill Parcells on a plane to bring him here
and then Jerry Jones called and they flipped around and
went to Dallas. People don't remember that, but that's true.

(19:17):
So I want Mark Soops to be here. Hopefully we
go nine and three with Nick Kyle Zond but nevertheless,
but I'm telling you that if things go the opposite
way that conversation that that will occur. Noah, go ahead, Noah.

Speaker 6 (19:36):
Hey, Matt, I want to get your opinion on this.
And I apologize if you guys have already talked about us
this in the past, but I want to I want you,
I want to hear from you guys when you think
of from last year's marsh or Big Blue Madness where
we had a big asb glass for that for that
you had put in I don't know what you guys
thinking of, like that's something of like you think UK

(19:56):
should be putting in for or hear your opinion, and
then I'll think of, like what if that's on us
maybe trying again for the future, because in my mind
I'm thinking, obviously this is something that's gonna get to
ooz and ohs as a fan really cool at the
same time and correct me if I'm wrong. But it
feels like that's taking up around not like ninety percent
of your entire production budget.

Speaker 2 (20:14):
Well, yeah, everything will anything. Everything cool. If you do
it too much, will not be cool. Like I mean,
the Soldier Boy was cool at one point and then
they played it so much. Now you can't do the
Soldier Boy and it'd be cool. I appreciate the call.
I feel like every influencer like you got it and
you don't. So I think the key is to always
make something different and exciting. So do you do the

(20:34):
floor again? If you can make something different, make it interesting, sure,
but they'll come a point you have to come to
something else. I just want them to always be like
going for whatever the next thing is. Sometimes it might
not work, but keep it up. We didn't. We did
that in the early cal years. Then we kind of
didn't for a while. It got stale. It was good
to see them go back to that. I hope they

(20:55):
continue to do that. You have to be on the
cutting edge. And when you're on the cutting edge, sometimes
you're gonna swing in me. That's okay. You keep going
and keep taking another at bad at it. Now the
floor is very cool for something like madness, and I'm
with you if it can keep advancing. I can't remember
exactly the tricks they did, but if they could, like
have you know spots pop up or you know, you
get a five pointer from a random circle that pops up,

(21:16):
things like that, that would be unique. But if it's
just continues to be videos, that might get a little stale.
But I wouldn't mind them trying a few more times.
Pretty impressive. Just keep pushing the envelope. That's I think,
how you make it to where you go? Ooh, what's next?
That's what you want to do. A fun story about
that court. My neighbor installed it and he dropped one
of the panels. They're very expensive. Jay, go ahead, Jay.

Speaker 7 (21:39):
Hey guys, calling you off from the beautiful Sunshine State
this morning. I'm originally from Funny County, but my family's
on vacation down here and I had nothing to do today,
kind of a bad weather day. So I'm going to
Gainsville to see the Tom Peggy childhood house.

Speaker 2 (21:57):
Oh that's kind of cool, Ben Hill.

Speaker 7 (22:00):
Griffin Stadium and see if I can't get him get
year's ear for a minute. But uh yeah, I just
wanted to say.

Speaker 2 (22:06):
That is kind of cool. I would like to do that.

Speaker 7 (22:11):
Yeah, I'm super stoked about it. Real quick. Uh, I
heard of the great vind that you're you're mcpride entity
of mcddonald's was the same people that funded Tennessee's McDonald's.

Speaker 2 (22:28):
You're breaking up, man, I don't know where you are,
if you're out on the beach or something. Yeah, I
said Tom Petty's house. Sorry, we had to back down
because we can't hear you, Jimmy. So I'm uh, that's
the end of the line. I would love to go.
I would love to go to uh, you know, to
to the Tom Petty house. But don't come around here

(22:49):
no more with that phone because it's not working. We
don't mention that company. By the way, that is cool
when they do that at the Florida game and they
play his songs. I got stoops video to it when
we want down there. That was awesome. Yeah, that's it.
That is very cool. We'll take a break very back, Okay,
I sorry. TJ Smith, personal injury attorney called TJ. He'll
make them pay now.

Speaker 3 (23:09):
More of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's
Matt Jones.

Speaker 2 (23:13):
Welcome back Tucky Sports Radio. Yeah, this is that's a wonderful. So,
I mean we've talked about this a lot. Tom Petty's
a top five artists for me. First concert I went to,
first time I in person smelled what marijuana smelled like,
like just really in person to be like, oh, that's
what it is. You know, your first dance with Mary

(23:34):
Jene well done. See, that's why you gotta have the
true He just he's good at it. If I'm nine
two eight oh twenty two eighty seven, one person says Matt.
I listened to a lot of local shows in both
Lexington and Louisville. I do find it kind of sad.
They all mention you a lot. I never really hear
you mention them. That's true completely, Well, I don't know

(23:57):
if it's true they mentioned me. I don't listen to it,
but I don't.

Speaker 5 (24:01):
You know.

Speaker 2 (24:01):
When we got started many years ago, Dow remembers this,
we just took shots at people, and I always have
regretted some of that because I thought, like, why did
I do that? And it was but if you look
at it, it was just trying to like build our thing.
Almost all of those people are no longer in media.
Alan Cutor is probably the last one, and so the
same thing is true with the new people now, like

(24:23):
they got to find a way. I mean, the reality is,
and I don't say this to be mean to any
of them, there's not one local show in Lexington or
Louisville that rates anything on any radar except I think
Drew Diener does a little bit maybe, and then that
has shows. They're not really sports though, they but nobody

(24:43):
else does. So Like I get it. They're trying to
it is what it is, you know, but I don't
know who they are. Like I didn't know who Brad
Taylor was. Honestly, I didn't know there was a person
named Brad Taylor. And Wendsey on after Color, well, I
don't know what that is. What time is that? I
guess Colors two hours? I think so two? Yeah? Okay,

(25:06):
Well I wish him the best, Shannon, because I don't know.
And the day like I, if you think about it,
you've known me a long time, Shannon. I don't squabble
with anybody locally anymore. No, but you, oh for sure,
like Kyle Tucker. Yeah, and then well what's funny is
they all just ended up where we were after criticizing
us for years, the Herald, the Courier, all of them

(25:29):
have just ended up doing the exact same thing KSR does,
just not as good. So for years we were told
we were evil, and now they all just do the
same thing. I saw ESPN the other day's hiring a
twenty two year old TikTok person. Saw that they should.
But like they're just now doing what the barstools of

(25:49):
the world did just later. And that's what happened here locally, right,
like they just and but the difference between us and
them is we saw it coming and I knew that
wasn't going to work, and so you know, so I
do not take it personal, although I was just driving
through Zanesville. All right, what one thirteen give it to me.
I'm lucky number ten, number ten. Let's see thirteen. Uh,

(26:16):
this is a little complicated, tall what let's take a
call and then I'll go to it. Andy, go ahead, Andy.

Speaker 4 (26:22):
Hey, guys, hey, uh. I spent sixteen years living in Jamesville,
and I was like five minutes from where the zoo
animals got let out and the guy let them out.

Speaker 2 (26:33):
Were you there when they let him out? Yeah?

Speaker 4 (26:37):
I was. I lived about five minutes from the guy's house.

Speaker 2 (26:40):
Oh, so what happened? Tell me? So they say, hey,
forty six zoo animals are out. What did you do?

Speaker 4 (26:46):
I stayed in the house.

Speaker 2 (26:49):
Were you nervous? Were you nervous? There's not going to
be an elephant outside?

Speaker 4 (26:54):
No, because I really didn't know exactly what was going
on until after the back and you know, looking to
it on the news and I had people calling me
from Kentucky and from other states. That I knew is
that if I was okay and everything, what turned out?
I guess the guy was kind of well, it was
a sad story. He uh, he was facing charges and

(27:16):
let all his animals out and committed suicide.

Speaker 2 (27:19):
No well way to bring it down. And I was
just trying to eat.

Speaker 4 (27:22):
Yeah, well, I mean that's what happened.

Speaker 2 (27:24):
Yeah, Well the truth is the truth.

Speaker 4 (27:26):
Some of the animals rescues.

Speaker 2 (27:28):
That's the thing that's good. All right, Thank you, Andy,
five nine twenty two eighty seven. One person writes, don't
you feel it's disrespectful that you and Drews call Zach
Calzada nick. I do not do it on purpose. I
will get it right. It is Zach. I want him
to be successful. I want him to kill. You know,
he was on the show. He seemed like a nice kid.
I want him to be successful. I also want Kentucky

(27:51):
to win, and if Cutter Bowley is better, he should
play you. There is a fallacy and poker called the
fallacy of the sunk cost, which is you've got so
much money in you feel like I have to do this.
Because the money is in, you have to know when
to fold them right. You have to know when it's
so when it doesn't work. Now, I'm not saying whether
they are at all with with with Calzada, but if

(28:14):
Cutter's better, it doesn't matter what you paid in N
I L or anything else. You have to do what's right.
We'll see what it is. I'm not taking a position,
but I don't think we should be stuck on it
has to be this guy because he was who it
was supposed to be. Yeah, and Cutter Cutter looks really good.
I worry that if, like let's say, the line doesn't
pan out or it's just not a good year. Cutter

(28:36):
is your future. If you put him behind a bad
line and he has a bad year, that can derail
his futures. So that's why I say, But see, but
he may not be here anyway. I mean, I I
don't I think you're right about that, but I don't
think you can do that in today's college football, in
today's college football where people can leave any year, Shannon,
I think you gotta do for this year. You can't

(28:57):
assume for the future. None of these dudes may be
here next year. So like, you have to do what's
best for the team that's on the field that year,
because you don't even know if you're gonna have these
guys the next.

Speaker 3 (29:08):
Yeah, Cutter may stick around, and we may end up
going to the transfer portal and getting somebody better, and
then Cutter has to sit again. And there's a lot
riding on this season. Let's put the best guys that
we have out there from the very beginning. I don't
care if he was supposed to be the starter or not.
If another guy's better, put him out there.

Speaker 2 (29:24):
I mean, to your point, I get what you're saying,
which is you don't want to get cut or hurt.
But let's say you keep Cutter on the bench, you
don't get him hurt, and then he leaves, what good
did it do you. I'm with you, and I think
Calzada is still maybe even better than him, Like Kalzada
has been good too. It's just Cutter's turned heads because
what we saw last year. You know, he's thrown into
tough spots Florida at Texas. He looks much better than

(29:45):
he did in those games, and it's exciting to see him.
It's not that Kalzada has been bad or anything. And honestly,
they're gonna run so much. I could be quarterback. It
is gonna be run. Kalsada said himself, We're gonna run
a lot, so what's the point is? And then with
six wide receivers if we're not gonna throw the ball, well,
Calzada he's even said interviews on media today, we're gonna run, run, run,
and we're gonna hit a play action where I can

(30:05):
show off my arm. So he's he is a good
deep ball threat and I think that's where he's gonna
come into play. But it is gonna be run. And
then lose twenty seven to six just seems like the
most disappointing thing. I think we lose nineteen to twenty,
it's gonna be like those games. Well, I mean that's
at least competitive all right, So you the one you

(30:25):
picked there, number ten. Do you all use the website
letterbox D your letter boxed? No, never heard of it.
I'm just gonna tell you be careful if you get
on it. So I guess it's like a social media
site for movies. Okay, So you make an account and

(30:46):
you rate all the movies you've ever seen. First of all,
when you start that process, that takes a long time
because you've seen a lot of movies. But if I
just sit here and say, name the movies you've seen,
it's kind of hard to come up just with movies
off the top of your head. I sat there one day,
next thing I know, I was two hundred movies in
continuing to write. It's on a zero to five star scale.

(31:09):
And you sit there and you go, okay, is Winning
Crasher is better than Step Brothers? Or is it the
same or is it worse? And you're doing it, and
then it gives you recommendations, and then you can follow people,
and you can follow your friends and Shannon see what
movies they like and what they've reviewed. And it sounds stupid,
but then once you get on, I'm on there. I'm

(31:29):
Matt Jones, KSR. I don't care if you follow me
or not. It doesn't matter. I'm not asking you to.
I'm just saying, like, I think the only thing I
like is just going back and going Did I like Avatar?
Was it a two? Well?

Speaker 4 (31:41):
No two?

Speaker 2 (31:42):
And I have no two. So there's decimals. I feel like,
just fox hals, okay, have you can do halves.

Speaker 3 (31:48):
Like if you're deciding to go back and watch a
movie you've already seen, like, why would I do that?

Speaker 2 (31:51):
I hate? Why would I do that? Exactly? You can
go back and look at keep something. But the thing is,
there's a big upfront cost in trying to remember all
the movies that you've want, right. I just I'm sitting
there going, yeah, I did see Three Men and a Baby.
I don't remember my reaction to it, but I did
see it. And I've probably rated hundreds of movies, and

(32:12):
there's still a ton to do because you don't remember.
And then in theory, as things come out, you do
them more. But I'm still trying to catch up.

Speaker 3 (32:18):
I'm up to three eighty four on but I do IMDb.
But it's similar to what you're talking about.

Speaker 2 (32:23):
Yeah, but Letterbox is a cool one.

Speaker 3 (32:24):
Now just so you don't know, I don't care. What's cool.

Speaker 2 (32:28):
I want you to follow me. Shit, yeah, I want
you and to be letterboxed friends.

Speaker 3 (32:32):
I allow have to get on there.

Speaker 2 (32:33):
Then get on letterbox and also then people can create
their lists like the fifty best movies of all time
and all that. I think she could. I think you
would love it. It's got It's very much a Drew Franklin.
I'm just a point. I didn't already know about it. Yeah, well,
it's just I'm telling you though. If you get on it,
it's it's it's addicting because then it just just you

(32:55):
just want to make sure you have all your movies
if you've ever dominated a trivia night or you know
every word of the pre But like our man Ryan Lemon,
the National Civics b is Thursday four to six at
the Kentucky State Fair. It's like a spelling bee, but
about civics, constitution, and our democracy. There are people from
all over the country coming to the South wing of
the Kentucky State Fair four to six pm Thursday. It

(33:18):
is the National Civics Be brought to you by the
Kentucky Chamber of Commerce because understanding government is important and
community matters, as do funnel cakes. It is Thursday, August
twenty first, four to six the Kentucky Civics Bee and then,
by the way, Friday, KSR is at the State Fair.
Looking forward to it. Yeah, so one of my favorites
of the year, KASAR is Friday at the State Fair.

(33:38):
Between now and then, I'll let you know where at
the State Fair it is. But be ready to This
is our yearly State Fair show. Do you think the
one guy is gonna come by?

Speaker 3 (33:45):
I was about to ask you the same question.

Speaker 2 (33:48):
He's gonna come by, isn't he the guy?

Speaker 3 (33:50):
I think he got banned from there was last I.

Speaker 2 (33:52):
Bet he's there. I think they I think they bann
him and then he gets he comes back the next.

Speaker 3 (33:55):
Year until he gets banned.

Speaker 2 (33:59):
I bet he's gonna to be there. But anyway, we
will be there Friday. That's the it's a second It
opens Thursday, so this is the second day of the fair.
We'll be there Friday for KSR. We'll take a break,
be right back to Tekey sports Radio. Welcome back. Take
you sports radio. Doesn't look like a lot of your
on letterbox. It's all right. You can thank me later.
Actually the message board had several people say they're on there,

(34:20):
okay machines. Usually when I say something like that, like
I had four people write me they were from Zanesville.
I thought there'd be people sort of saying letter but
but I guess not. But I understand maybe I'm on
the cutting edge.

Speaker 4 (34:32):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (34:32):
One person got Matt Jones, Drew Franklin, Jimmy the dude.
You guys are nuts. We're three weeks before the season
and you're already trashing the starting quarterback and manufacturing to controversy.
This is the reason some people hate KSR. The negativity.
It's not negativity, it's a conversation. Remember last year I

(34:53):
got trashed for saying there was a way we could
go to the playoff. That was being too positive. What
people don't like is not the negativity or positivity. They
don't like when people disagree with them, whatever position they have.
If I don't have that position, then that's somehow a
fault in my personality. Obviously it comes through in politics
a lot, but it also comes through in sports. Ask

(35:15):
some people they'll go KSR sunshine pumpers and they're too positive.
Ask other people and they're too negative. The reality is
what some people want. Most people don't. Most people enjoy
hearing different conversations. But what some people want, like you, sir,
is you just want people to agree with you. And
if you want that, then just talk into a recording
and just listen to yourself back. That'll be the easiest

(35:40):
way for you to make sure you get somebody that
agrees with you on every state. Had someone write mean
just the other day about how negative am about UK
football at the time, and I'm like, two years ago,
I booked a room in Atlanta before the season. You
wouldn't go on that one basketball game because it was
the same day as a championship. What do you want
from me? We're giving you what our raw emotion is.
Last year I went the season ready to punch people

(36:01):
in the face and was like we could go nine
and three. And that video is still floating around the
internet and people still make fun of it. This year,
I don't feel as positive. I'm just telling you what
I feel.

Speaker 3 (36:11):
Video yesterday that came out. No people are saying two
and ten now after that video, Yeah.

Speaker 2 (36:16):
I mean that video, well, let's just say it was
one of the topics. Let's just talk about for a second.
So that video, you know, Shannon tweeted it out. Well done, Shannon,
that was great, Thanks for that. And then Mario put
out the video of us talking about it, so I
got some information on what happened. The one of the
two guys at wanted to do it.

Speaker 3 (36:35):
He's off the team.

Speaker 2 (36:37):
I think it's our starting line I think it's our
starting linebacker. They were trying apparently to recreate like a
sorority rush video.

Speaker 3 (36:46):
At the time.

Speaker 1 (36:46):
Bro.

Speaker 2 (36:47):
Yeah, but right there before we'll stop, that's when someone
has to go, we're secn tell about you. Now. I'm
not sure that Dick but Cuss and ray lewis like,
I'm not sure that they recreate a lot of sorority
rush videos. Now listen, I will do the stupidest stuff imaginable,
and I'm okay with it. And this show does stupid

(37:09):
stuff and I'm okay with it. I just don't know
that that was the moment, it being like introducing the team,
let's do it. I am told this. I cannot confirm,
but I've heard this from two different sources that the
video was put out early by the kid. Then UK

(37:30):
tweeted it out or something or retweeted it or I
don't know if they somehow UK put it up and
I was told someone showed it to the coaching staff
and the staff demanded it be taken down as they
should and was not happy it got put up. That's
what I was told. Now I don't know. I can't
swear to that. I do think that the kid put

(37:51):
it out first, but I was told that someone one
of the compeats me on the coaching staff was like,
what are you doing? Take that day?

Speaker 3 (37:57):
You know how they have like reaction videos on YouTube.
I would love to have a reaction video of Mark
stops video the first time.

Speaker 2 (38:05):
Did you imagine that's the BBN United video behind the
scenes I want? And it was the yes, show me
that stuff. You want to get me to subscribe to
bb in United. You show me Mark Stoops watching that video.
There's a guy you show me the first time. Mark
Stoops goes to that player and was like, what are

(38:25):
you doing? There's a funny video that we cannot possibly
share because of the language. But there's a guy on
TikTok that has a reaction to it and he's just
screaming that Kentucky, I saw it there, like you have
one month to get to Conference USA. Listen, I understand. Hey,
this will be fun. Let's recreate the Zeta video. I

(38:48):
get it. Okay, you can't put that out in the
Kentucky like. Do that on your own time, you.

Speaker 3 (38:56):
Know, do it after the season.

Speaker 2 (38:58):
Nine, do it at the bowl game. Yeah, okay, we're heard.
We're trying not to go to Toledo keeps gaining on
us in the points spread every day. Oh did you
see the Toledo update? Yeh, that's one of the lists.
I can't think about it right now. Let's go to Scott.
Go ahead, Scott, Hey, good.

Speaker 5 (39:17):
Morning, guys. Got a two part question for you. Then
I'll hang up and listen. Off Off, Is there another
college uh sports team that does a four hour talk
show five days a week? And if there's not, what
a college team do you think could Yeah.

Speaker 2 (39:36):
I mean there's a few, they're not. There is no
college sports team in the United States that has a
show as popular as this one. And there is no
one close. You know, we when we got bought by
on three, I now have access to all the numbers
on all this ks are. The website gets more trafficked
than every other every other whip college sports website and

(39:59):
cut and it is not closed. No one is if within,
no one's within the ballpark subscribers to the pay site.
We're not in the top five because we've been free
for so long, but in like a year and a
half we got to where we're competitive. There's there's a
handful above us, but when it comes to daily traffic,

(40:19):
nothing's close to Kasar. When it comes to radio, there
is no local college sports show in America. I want
you to focus on this and other people can play it,
and you're gonna be wrong. There's no college sports show
in America that gets half the listeners KSR half. There's

(40:40):
a couple, like in Columbus and in a couple other
places that also have pro sports teams that might get
more than half, but nobody gets more than this. I've
said this before. This is the number one locally rated
sports show in the country. There's a few shows in
big cities, like in New York, where the total listeners
is higher, but it's because their population is like five
times us ten times. So my point is no, and

(41:05):
Kentucky Sports is the reason I'm not sitting here just
bragging on us. It's Kentucky Sports, our fans care more
than anyone else cares. In Alabama, Auburn, their fans care,
but it's like they don't consume it like we did.
You've seen it, like there's no way to call. We
have access to the numbers of every website, every radio

(41:27):
show in the country, and they're not even close.

Speaker 3 (41:30):
Any radio show. They can go out every Friday and
have one hundred people at a remote at ten o'clock
in the morning, there's not another one. There's not another one.

Speaker 2 (41:38):
Think about Indianapolis last year when we played Tennessee. We're
not even in our state and they were lined up
a block down the road and couldn't get in. That's
a combination of I think we do a good job,
but it's also this fan base. This fan base. Don't
ever let anyone tell you anything negative about Kentucky fans

(41:59):
and how much they care. Nobody cares more than us.
Nobody on the basketball side, nobody's close. Nobody's close. The
only one that's I mean, there's nobody close, Kansas, Indiana, Yukon. Still,
this is the number one fan base is Kentucky, and

(42:22):
it's amazing. If I'm nine two eight h twenty two
eighty seven we'll take a break. We got to talk
about can openers and how you tyres Maxie. I feel
for him, I've been there. We'll be right back.
