Speaker 1 (00:00):
This is Kentucky Sports Radio, presented by Stockton Mortgage.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Now here's Matt Jones.

Speaker 3 (00:05):
We welcome everyone on Kentucky Sports Radio, Thursday, August the
twenty first. I am Matt Jones. We are five days
away from the opening a ksbar. We are nine days
away from opening kickoff. That's crazy, it's correct. What happened
to the summer? I don't know. It's a great question,
Matt Jones. Ryan Lemonshan the dude Drew is on a

(00:26):
bachelor party vacation. Yeah, with Abby's brother his bachelor party.
So you can give sellon Clark's Pumping Shop phone line
A five nine two eighth twenty two eighty seven. A
Vision Auto Glass text machine is seven seven two seventy
four five two five four in this distion sponsored by
the T J. Smith Office called TJ I'll make Them Pay. Yesterday,
I was one of the longest days I think I've

(00:48):
had in a long time. Got up in the morning,
had to do some stuff for the NFL show, came
and did this show the moment this show ended, did
ESPN from twelve to three. I had yet to get
to write the trivia questions, so I wrote the trivia
questions from three to seven? Did them at seven? Came
home and passed out watching The Gilded Age. But long day,

(01:13):
but fun. But but now glad to be here with
you today.

Speaker 4 (01:17):
I'm surprised you to have a voice. That's a lot
of talking, that's a lot of you. Happened the good
thing on ESPN. They let me ride Shotgun. I didn't
have to drive much.

Speaker 3 (01:24):
It's a much different experience when you do that, Like
it's almost I almost feel like it's cheating. Like I
feel like y'all should, especially you right, should pay me.
Here is when you're riding second because you just have
to like respond.

Speaker 4 (01:37):
Why do you think I'm still here? I'm just riding
your coattails.

Speaker 3 (01:40):
On ESPN though, I mean, and it was a guy
named Gabe Nigel, who I do like, but he talks
like he'll talk yeah, And so you're just like, hey,
whenever you need me, I'm good. Now.

Speaker 4 (01:49):
You know how Shannon and Drew and I feel he'd
let you go, turn you on and let you stand
back and let you.

Speaker 3 (01:54):
Go there you go, So all right, So chandea, we
have to talk about a couple of things we did
trivia last night. I'll come back to that. But yesterday was,
of course the day that Ryan moved Josiah into UK.
All right, let's start with this word on the street
is you almost got in a fight.

Speaker 4 (02:16):
How do you know this?

Speaker 3 (02:19):
Listen, I have a text machine. Everything that happens in Kentucky,
I get, I hear everything. The question is just I
don't know what all to believe. But like sometimes people,
there is not a story that comes out in Kentucky
that someone didn't send me on the text machine before.

Speaker 5 (02:35):
But again they also.

Speaker 3 (02:36):
Put somebody I think sends me things that maybe aren't true,
so I can't say them all.

Speaker 5 (02:40):
But am I correct? You almost got in a fight
with a security guard?

Speaker 4 (02:43):
Not a fight, but secrety guard yelled at me and
I yelled back.

Speaker 5 (02:47):
The wow did you yell at a security guard?

Speaker 4 (02:50):
It was it was a Scottie Schreffler. What chef Scheffler
all over again? Because they had.

Speaker 3 (02:56):
You know, so he's he is already claiming to be innocent,
Scottie Shuffler.

Speaker 4 (03:04):
You know. The traffic is a nightmare, the parking is
a nightmare. It's your worst situation for you to be in.

Speaker 3 (03:11):
I've been over there on moving day. It's terrible.

Speaker 4 (03:13):
It's awful. So they've got it where all the traffic
flows one way, one way in, one way out. They're
doing they're doing the best they can well. Even though
you're going one way, your one way lane is split
into two lanes. You know. So I'm in the right lane,
I need to be in the left lane. Lady kind
of weighs me in. I shouldn't say that person person way.
I don't want to give away who I got.

Speaker 3 (03:34):
No fight with person, So you got one. You got
to fight with a female security guard as your son
was moving into cotton.

Speaker 4 (03:45):
It wasn't a fight. It was just yelling, yelling. I
thought the person waved me over where I could get
into the other lane. Apparently I was mistaken and she
let me know I was in the wrong.

Speaker 3 (03:57):
So why did you yell back if you were If
you're now acknowledging you were in the wrong.

Speaker 4 (04:01):
I just yelled back and like, you waved me over there,
you told me I could go there. I kind of
raised my voice a little bit.

Speaker 5 (04:07):
So how was it a Scottie Scheffler situation?

Speaker 4 (04:09):
Because when you know, did he he was trying to
turn left and kind of cut into the lane.

Speaker 5 (04:13):
But I did not get it was there was there
was the tension high.

Speaker 4 (04:20):
Oh my gosh, it was all over that part of campus,
just parking in traffic. You pull up in front of
the door, unload, and within five seconds, like you gotta
get your car out of here, go you gotta go
park over at Kroger Field. So I had to go
all the way over on the other side of Kroger
Field by greg Page Apartments to park and then walk
back to the camp.

Speaker 5 (04:37):
You got to unload your stuff.

Speaker 4 (04:38):
Unload the stuff, and then get your car out of
there or they're going to beat you up.

Speaker 5 (04:42):
So did you cry?

Speaker 4 (04:45):
I didn't cry, but I was. I was on the verge.

Speaker 3 (04:47):
Did he give you a hug?

Speaker 4 (04:49):
Kind of a little I'm gonna cryt we start thinking.

Speaker 3 (04:52):
About it, Well, this is good. We hugged.

Speaker 4 (04:57):
I said I love you. I felt it coming. He
get out of the car.

Speaker 3 (05:01):
So was it just YouTube? Yeah, at that point you
couldn't embarrassing.

Speaker 4 (05:05):
That's why I stayed in the car.

Speaker 5 (05:06):
I know you didn't even go in and like meet
his roommate.

Speaker 4 (05:09):
Oh yeah, this is like the third time we've been there. Okay,
like that last time, and I'm dropping him off for
the last time, like after lunch, and I felt like
he was getting ready to cry. I was getting ready
to cry.

Speaker 3 (05:20):
So it's tough, man.

Speaker 4 (05:23):
But my buddy Bob called me at the exact moment,
just as I get out of the car, and Bob
made me laugh.

Speaker 3 (05:29):
So all right, so, well you're crying right now. It's tough.
So you leave as you're driving down the road. What
do you like? Play a song or something like, what
do you what do you know?

Speaker 4 (05:41):
Bob got me laughing, got me talking about it. It
was perfect timing on his car. I don't know how
he knew to call me at that exact moment.

Speaker 3 (05:46):
All right, So what about last night? Awful?

Speaker 4 (05:48):
I hated it.

Speaker 3 (05:49):
I hate it.

Speaker 4 (05:50):
I hate staying by myself. I don't want to be
by myself. I hate it. I hated the empty house.
That feeling of that house being empty and quiet was awful.

Speaker 5 (05:58):
Whiffle so that it was awful.

Speaker 4 (06:01):
Yes, I hated every second of it.

Speaker 5 (06:03):
So what are you going to do? I mean, you
can't you know that?

Speaker 3 (06:08):
Right?

Speaker 4 (06:09):
I could? Maybe? You know, have slumber parties at my house.
You guys can all come.

Speaker 3 (06:13):
Over and hang out cheering. Are you just? I thought
you were going to play in the arms of an age.

Speaker 2 (06:20):
No no, no, no, no no, it's all by myself. Let's
love to play in the background.

Speaker 3 (06:24):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (06:24):
So I don't know how you do it. I don't
know how you get how you you live by yourself?
I have never ever lived by myself? And when I
hated it? What is it you don't like? You don't
like being it's like being alone. I don't like anybody.
In fact, I'm there, nobody's there.

Speaker 3 (06:37):
But don't you think it's it's in some ways good
for you to be alone, to like be in your
own thoughts.

Speaker 4 (06:43):
No, not at all. I can be in my own
thoughts in one room while he's screaming at his xbox
in the other room.

Speaker 3 (06:49):
I mean it was very I mean, this is your
existence now and I hate it.

Speaker 4 (06:53):
I don't like. I'm telling you right now, I don't
like it.

Speaker 5 (06:55):
Okay, So what are you going to do about it?

Speaker 4 (06:58):
I don't know. Calling yoga girl up when you come.

Speaker 3 (07:01):
Over and they're getting married now, like it's clear, Shanon,
Like they're gonna get married because you you're not gonna
You don't want to do this, You don't want to
be by.

Speaker 5 (07:09):
Yourself, don't so like.

Speaker 3 (07:12):
What is the part that's working because because I'm sure
you've had nights by yourself, like where people are out
of town.

Speaker 4 (07:19):
So what's the difference, Well, you really like when he's
out of tough would go stay with yoga girls.

Speaker 5 (07:23):
So do you just not spend any night by yourself?

Speaker 3 (07:26):
I don't. How do you not spend any.

Speaker 5 (07:29):
Night by yourself?

Speaker 3 (07:30):
Ever?

Speaker 4 (07:31):
I always had a kid there or but like when.

Speaker 3 (07:34):
They went somewhere.

Speaker 5 (07:35):
Have you just never spent a night in the room
by yourself?

Speaker 4 (07:38):
Last night? Maybe in the first one, I hated it.
I'm telling you, I couldn't go to sleep. I was.
I just didn't like it. I didn't like that feeling.
The house felt like it was huge and empty.

Speaker 3 (07:48):
It is quiet. Yeah, so so well, you have to
do something about this because I don't want you to
be miserable every night, Like there's got to be. It's
hard for me to get. This is one where I
can't even give you advice because for me, it's so natural,
Like when someone stays at my house, I find that weird.

(08:12):
When Max was staying there, like I was at the
other place a lot, but when we were there together,
I'm not Sometimes Yeah, I mean it was like I
like to be able to kind of move around my house.

Speaker 5 (08:23):
However, and you know, sometimes he would have people there
and I didn't.

Speaker 3 (08:28):
I would walk downstairs and there be like three people
in my living room and I'd be like, oh, this
is kind of strange. But but so I didn't dislike it.
It was fine, but like that was kind of weird
to me to have someone. And when I've dated people
that stayed sometimes I'm like, do you have somewhere to be?

(08:49):
So so it's hard for me to relate and I
but but you have to do this. We're gonna have
to figure out a game plan for you.

Speaker 4 (08:55):
Yeah. You know, I'm so used to like four or
five friends being over out of the pool. They're all
gone to college too, like all just friends.

Speaker 3 (09:01):
Your friends are in college, Josiah's friends are just.

Speaker 2 (09:07):
Does Matt need to come over for a sleepover to
make Yeah.

Speaker 4 (09:09):
Will you come over to sleep over with me?

Speaker 3 (09:11):
No, we can spind it. I mean, I'm glad to
hang out with you, but we do have to think
of a strategy for you, because you can't just be
sad all the time. This is like you're either like
this is your life at this point, this is your life.
This is your life, like you can't this is not
going to change. And if it does change, it's because
your kid, like didn't find a job or something.

Speaker 4 (09:33):
And I'm telling you I don't like it. I don't
like it at all.

Speaker 3 (09:35):
I know I can tell.

Speaker 2 (09:36):
Here's what he needs to do.

Speaker 1 (09:38):
Have another kid, a fifty nine years old.

Speaker 3 (09:42):
Have another Actually that's not I mean that that's that's
a terrible idea, but it would solve the problem alone.

Speaker 4 (09:49):
I felt like we were moving Josia in yesterday. They're
all looking at me. Hey, Josiah, is that your grandpa? No,
that's my dad.

Speaker 3 (09:54):
I wait till I and I really feel that way.

Speaker 4 (09:58):
So all right, So I I I was on the
phone yoga girl last night. I'm I'm begging her to
come over for a sleepover this weekend. And please just
come over for a sleep over this weekend.

Speaker 5 (10:06):
You can't be needy, I'm women don't like that.

Speaker 3 (10:09):
You have to you. You can't be You're gonna have
to have. You still gotta be a little bit strong.
You can't just become a blob of goose.

Speaker 4 (10:20):
I am right now, I am right now for sure.
I don't know how you do it. I like you,
you had just that companionship, knowing somebody is there just you,
though Josiah was in his room and I was in
my room, just the fact he was there.

Speaker 3 (10:32):
I mean, okay, I understand, but like you should read,
you should do going for walks like you're you're out
amongst people. You don't have to interact with him if
you don't want, I mean, go to events. You know,
there's a lot of people listening here that live by themselves.
You go get you do things like trivia last night,

(10:53):
like you go do things if you want to satisfy
that urge. But you're also like you got, You're gonna
have to learn to be at peace with yourself and
that I don't mean to sound all hippie guru, but
you have to learn to be at peace with yourself.
Like I am enough. I don't need this person to
validate myself. I am enough in and of myself. And

(11:17):
you have a million friends, like you have a million
people that love you. You have a million people that
care about you. But you're enough yourself. Does that make sense?

Speaker 6 (11:28):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (11:28):
How long is it gonna take for me to get that?
Get there?

Speaker 3 (11:31):
Well, I don't know that I have strategies because I
guess because I was an only child, I kind of
felt that way my entire life. I think my mom
was good at helping me feel that way. But we
are gonna have to get you there cause, like I mean,
you're not even wanting to spend one night by yourself
is a little bit. You know.

Speaker 4 (11:50):
Well, you shook me the other day, my last time
on it was Tuesday, and you kind of made me
realize I have never ever been by myself. I went
straight from college to a roommate, to marriage to kids,
to marriage to kids. Now I'm by myself. I've never ever.

Speaker 3 (12:05):
People will have a suggestion because you're not the only
person that's ever gone through this.

Speaker 4 (12:08):
I want to come to your house. Can't come to
your house? No, Max's Room's empty.

Speaker 2 (12:13):
Are you afraid of the dark? Like what's going on here?

Speaker 3 (12:15):
Yeah? But here's the Max was very considerate. Max cleaned
the house.

Speaker 4 (12:22):
I'll clean it for you.

Speaker 3 (12:23):
Max, just let me come stay. Max was social, so
he went out a lot, so I still had the
place to myself a lot. You're not gonna be any
of those things. You're gonna have your you'd have your
underwear strewn everywhere like.

Speaker 4 (12:38):
Like my dog's well that's.

Speaker 3 (12:41):
No, so no, you cannot come to my house now. Second,
did I turn on the radio and hear a commercial
fruit with you for AL eight?

Speaker 4 (12:52):
Yes?

Speaker 3 (12:53):
It's did they know what you used to say?

Speaker 4 (12:58):
I told him this is the new flavor her it's
the pau Paul. I didn't tall AL eight swamp Water,
the original L eight. I do not like, do not.
I think it's highly overrated.

Speaker 2 (13:11):
And he got an endorsement, and so what do you
say about this one?

Speaker 4 (13:14):
The pap Paul drink. I'm not just saying this is
actually pretty good. It's actually so.

Speaker 3 (13:19):
You told them that you have on your Unpopular Opinion
Day for a decade. Huh said you didn't like all
the epic films.

Speaker 4 (13:28):
Jason Efferson, the film company that put it together. I Toldhi, said, dude,
I don't even like L eight, and he goes, you
gotta try this, that's what we want. It was like
a blind you do like Papa, it's really good. I
didn't know what it was. It was like a blind
taste test.

Speaker 3 (13:39):
Shannon, if there's ever been proof this man will endorse anything,
anything on earth, anything, you know, he's gonna he's gonna
be endorsing Taylor Swift's new album.

Speaker 4 (13:51):
Do you know what a papa is?

Speaker 3 (13:52):
A grandfather? Well?

Speaker 4 (13:54):
Yes, so like some sort of fruit.

Speaker 3 (13:56):
And you like it?

Speaker 4 (13:58):
This was good?

Speaker 7 (13:58):
Well wait, why didn't you bring me any? I like
all sodas. I'll bring something with you. Maybe I bring
some to the show them tomorrow, bring it tonight to
the dinner. All right, if I can find it, I will.
All right, Well you're gonna be our I don't know
if I am. You're gonna be all right, I promise
eight five eighty seven. This may have to be a
show slash intervention for Ryan because he literally spent the

(14:20):
first night of his life by himself last.

Speaker 4 (14:23):
Night, and I hated every second of it.

Speaker 3 (14:25):
All Right, we'll take a break.

Speaker 2 (14:27):
We'll get through this.

Speaker 3 (14:28):
We'll get through this.

Speaker 2 (14:30):
Buy your Story Together by Yourself.

Speaker 3 (14:36):
Is Kentucky's Sports Radio. I mean, this is like they
always would play that with the adopting pets, yeah and things.
The text machine is blown up, and I wish you
could see it because it's all people like well, it's
mostly people saying like they feel sorry for you, or

(14:57):
they're like giving tips. I mean, I hope you realize
how many people mean love you. One person rights, Matt,
the opening segment has been the best I've ever heard
from Ryan. It's emotional and vulnerable. Very few people would
be able to share their emotions like this. I agree
with you. Like that's like most people try hard and
try to act like it doesn't bother them, and you

(15:19):
don't do that. I think that's part of the reason
this isn't just a sports show. That's what the people
that don't that like, yeah about stick to for they like,
they don't get it.

Speaker 5 (15:26):
This is a this is a personal show. So some
people have.

Speaker 4 (15:29):
Some suggestions, right, people have been through it.

Speaker 3 (15:32):
Yeah. One person says, why don't you set up and
then you could airb and be a room that would
allow you to sometimes have people although you can't hover
on them, but you would enjoy I think the interaction
of meeting people. Yeah, is that something you think about
or No.

Speaker 4 (15:49):
I would enjoy if they would come over to visit
and then leave. I don't know if I want to
airbnb people I don't know while I'm in their house
with them.

Speaker 3 (15:56):
Well, I don't think that's come and talk to me.

Speaker 5 (15:59):
So you just to pay people to come talk to you.

Speaker 4 (16:01):
Yeah, just hang out you can't do that hang out
in the can't.

Speaker 3 (16:05):
No, I'm not allowing you to do that, one person
says Matt Ryan. Get yourself into a routine, have regular
physical activity, go to places where he can have social Internet.
Do you go to church?

Speaker 4 (16:18):
Yes?

Speaker 3 (16:18):
Do you go every Sunday?

Speaker 4 (16:20):
Try to go every Sunday?

Speaker 3 (16:21):
Okay? Is there like a group like like like trivia
is a good example of a kind of thing. But
you everyone loves you like you have. You have way
more friends than I did.

Speaker 4 (16:31):
Trivia last night was the perfect medicine for me because it's.

Speaker 3 (16:36):
A lot of people like on your team, you know,
but then even the other people you kind of peripheral.

Speaker 8 (16:40):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (16:40):
Yeah, that's why it was a perfect time. It happened
last night after just dropped him off. I don't want like,
I don't want him to know I'm breaking down. You know,
I gotta be still tough.

Speaker 3 (16:48):
He knows.

Speaker 4 (16:49):
Come on, I thought he was gonna cry when he
got out of the car, that's what you.

Speaker 3 (16:51):
Said, Like when he got there, he's in the dorm
with the football player.

Speaker 4 (16:54):
Yes, yeah, Woodland Glynn, can you're not.

Speaker 3 (16:56):
Just get away from the football players.

Speaker 4 (16:58):
Like I remember going to when Dane was in that dorm.

Speaker 5 (17:01):
We would in them of the football player. Well, and
he's on one of the upper.

Speaker 4 (17:05):
Floors, just on the top floor.

Speaker 3 (17:06):
Yes, ok, yeah, we don't have to get the exact floor.
One person rights, Matt. I'm a woman. I would say
to yoga girl, pack up. She's gonna have a month
of very difficult ten days ahead, Shannon. I think that's
probably true.

Speaker 1 (17:20):
Oh yeah, yeah, he's probably gonna be over there with her,
staying in her house.

Speaker 3 (17:25):
I will say, we did trivia last night twenty eight teams.
It was the finals, so you had to have These
are all people who had come in the top three
at some point.

Speaker 5 (17:33):
So it's the best of the best, top of the
top of the line, best.

Speaker 3 (17:35):
Of the best. Twenty eight teams. What place do you
think Ryan Lemon's team came in.

Speaker 2 (17:40):
Shannon, second to last.

Speaker 3 (17:43):
Close twenty fifth. I read them from twenty eight to first.
Here's what I thought was funny, Shannon. The team that
came in twenty eighth, I think they knew before I
announced they were gonna come in twenty eighth. They got
up and left before I read the results.

Speaker 2 (17:57):
Oh yeah, they already knew.

Speaker 3 (17:58):
So I made all the teams yell. Yeah. And when
I got to twenty first, team know it was there.
They had gotten up and left because they knew what
was coming.

Speaker 2 (18:06):
They did not did not want to be you want
to be the one.

Speaker 5 (18:09):
That was in last. So you came in twenty fifth.

Speaker 4 (18:12):
We probably I thought we may have finished last, but
we did really well on the bonus question. The last
question saved us from being in last place.

Speaker 3 (18:18):
Yeah, I did, Shannon. What are the top's most populated
cities in America that have either six or eight letters
in them? Because you'd be shocked how many cities have
seven letters, but how few have six or eight? Right?
Everyone we can. New York has seven, Chicago has seven,

(18:38):
like all these and you and you got what I hated.

Speaker 4 (18:41):
That's pretty good, right, well, thank goodness, or we may
have been to the last place team you're talking about.

Speaker 3 (18:46):
Yeah, all right, eight, five, nine.

Speaker 4 (18:47):
I got gotta say this, Shannon. His questions were so hard.

Speaker 3 (18:50):
Last night. I spent a lot of I mean, it
was the finals. I wanted to make it good. Plus
it was the first time the restaurant was open to
non people. We know right of the pub and it
will be tonight too. For the listener dinner.

Speaker 4 (19:03):
It felt good to everybody in there, didn't they it did, and.

Speaker 3 (19:05):
Like I was, so I get nervous trying this food
sharing it because like you know, we've changed some of it,
but we've had it, but it's it's different because that's
a conversation. I may do it in the second hour,
but like some stuff had slipped and we needed to
make it better. So now every time I bite into it,
I'm like, okay, and I took a bite of that

(19:27):
note Chay, Linda burger, Yeah, it's gonna be I love it.
I'm not just saying that because I actually didn't think
our burger before was all that good. This, no, cha, Linda,
We're like the only restaurant they served. They killed it,
don't you. Mario was looking and everybody, I think pretty
much everybody there agreed. So if you go when we open,

(19:47):
that's the thing to try. But you you're gonna be
all right. You got me worried over here. Let's go
to Geno or Alan excuse me, Alan, go.

Speaker 6 (19:55):
Ahead, Alan, Hey, fell let's tell you guys doing just
want to good positive vibes out there to Ryan and
hopefully he finds a piece of mind suitsan later.

Speaker 9 (20:05):
Just keep a chat up, buddy, appreciate it.

Speaker 6 (20:07):
I wanted to give a thought exercise for you guys.
What would you think if Rex Chapman, Travis Ford, Tayshawn
Prince uh and name other players would have played in
this Pope system and thrive. Now that you've seen one
year of his coaching style, and well, it's hard for
me to.

Speaker 3 (20:24):
Ask because what I thought Pope's coaching style was before
he got here was a little different last year, Like
it wasn't exactly what I thought. I think one of
the things we saw for sure is a big man
who's versa little who could pass would be excellent in
this system. So if you had an Amari Williams who
could shoot, he might be like first team All American.

Speaker 5 (20:47):
So who have we had?

Speaker 3 (20:49):
And I appreciate the call that would have been like that,
Who's Who's a guy that could have done all the
things that Mary Williams did, but shoot?

Speaker 4 (20:57):
I felt like Antoine Walker is a guy that can
handle the ball, passed the ball and he could even
shoot a little bit.

Speaker 5 (21:02):
But he wouldn't have been the five, No, but he
would have been like a four.

Speaker 3 (21:05):
He could have done it.

Speaker 5 (21:06):
Antoine Walker is actually not a bad call. I like that.

Speaker 4 (21:09):
Walter McCarty, Yes, absolutely, those guys that couldn't handle the
basketball as will shoot.

Speaker 3 (21:13):
Mark Pope played with That's true, right, Like yeah, I'm
trying to think, what about somebody like well he wasn't fast,
but somebody like Marquis Estell he Yeah.

Speaker 5 (21:25):
Guys like a good passer.

Speaker 4 (21:26):
Eric Daniels and Chuck Hayes were both kind of good passers.

Speaker 5 (21:30):
And Marquis could shoot, especially by the end.

Speaker 4 (21:33):
Chuck couldn't shoot.

Speaker 3 (21:34):
Yeah, Chuck couldn't shoot, Yeah, Chuck will. I don't know what.
I don't know how Chuck would have done in the
system because your four has to shoot in this system,
so you can't play a four that doesn't shoot. So
I don't know if Chuck Hay's actually would have worked
in this system. Yeah, Estel sticks in my mind. Maybe
other people will have a good idea. But I do
think it was different than I thought. I mean, I

(21:55):
thought we were just gonna be bombing three. Yeah, and
it's not exactly like that.

Speaker 4 (22:00):
I think before the Seaton started you even said this
is like a dreams offense for like Antonio Reeves and
killing Grady.

Speaker 5 (22:06):
I do think it would have been.

Speaker 3 (22:07):
I mean, take a Kobe Braya who can also take
his man off the dribble like anton Antonio Reeves would
have killed it. Yep with Martin Poe Yep. So we'll
take a break eight five nine, twenty two eighty seven KSR. TJ. Smith,
personal injury attorney called TJ.

Speaker 5 (22:23):
He'll make them pay now.

Speaker 1 (22:24):
More of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.

Speaker 2 (22:28):
Here's Matt Jones.

Speaker 3 (22:29):
A lot of great comments coming in on here. Suggestionis Shannon, Yeah,
some serious sims not Here's one a motivational one text
machine seven seven two seven seven four five two five
four met Ryan, it's go time. You now have the
world at your fingertips for the rest of your life.
That's a good attitude. He can do anything like it's
go time. I mean, think about my mom when she retired,

(22:54):
went to seminary. Yeah, now getting a doctor in seminary,
doctor in theology, excuse me, like that in her sixties,
now in her seventies doing it. It's go time, Rye.

Speaker 4 (23:05):
I hope to get there. I'm not there yet because
every every weekend for like three or four years was
me and him going to a seven on seven tournament,
or a football camp, or making a visit every weekend.

Speaker 5 (23:14):
But now you can do what you want to do.

Speaker 4 (23:16):
I did want to do that. That was fun for me.

Speaker 2 (23:18):
You can go and watch other kids. I guess if
you want to.

Speaker 3 (23:20):
That's right. One person rights, you could go hang out
with Bob and Jamestown, become best buddies.

Speaker 2 (23:24):
There you go.

Speaker 4 (23:25):
Well, there's got to be some better option. Your mom
sent me a note, a very sweet text. By the way,
I love her to death.

Speaker 3 (23:31):
Uh, she's wonderful. One person writes, where was this? Oh,
he could become a gamer, sharing it.

Speaker 2 (23:39):
A gamer.

Speaker 3 (23:41):
You can interact with people on games. You could do
like Call of Duty or something.

Speaker 1 (23:45):
Like business coming up. You can get the new football game.
You can play game.

Speaker 3 (23:49):
With Korean kids that are fifteen from across the world.

Speaker 4 (23:53):
See that just makes me think of joll Say again,
that's what he did every night, everything screaming down something
using language down the hallway, says.

Speaker 3 (24:01):
One about another week at ks jail.

Speaker 4 (24:04):
Ooh, we probably come up with something better.

Speaker 3 (24:07):
But you could do it during the day, like a
supports for show prep.

Speaker 2 (24:11):
There you go. You can go from zero to ten minutes.

Speaker 4 (24:15):
My first morning by myself and I walked in here
late this morning, so I'm at.

Speaker 3 (24:19):
It was so late this morning, so maybe the structure
was was what helped take five nine two eight h
twenty two eighty seven. By the way, before I go
to the phones, I got a lot of response Shanning from
the people about the playground at Gatton Park. Oh yeah,
it's a there's a video that was done before I
said it, but it is Gaton Park showing why it's safe.

(24:41):
And I think, Shannon, it had to be a preemptive
we know this doesn't look safe. Video. It's on Instagram.

Speaker 2 (24:48):
I would love to know their explanation, because nothing about
that look.

Speaker 3 (24:50):
Their explanation is we passed two tests. That was the explanation.

Speaker 2 (24:54):
Who was test some weren't.

Speaker 3 (24:56):
You didn't hear I walked around, I got to I
didn't sneak in. It was open, but then apparently it
wasn't supposed to be open. But I walked around and
saw it, and I think the park looks amazing. I
think the playground looks like, oh my goodness, that's scary.

Speaker 4 (25:09):
I'll say they made they made a video weeks ago
trying to prove that this playground is saved.

Speaker 3 (25:14):
Not weeks ago, a couple of days ago. I think
it's gonna be awesome. There's a story in the Harold
Leader today about all the features and and and I'd
noticed most of them. They focused on the swing and
the water and all that. Like it's a it is beautiful.
It opens Saturday at noon and you can start walking around.
I'm gonna be looking out to see what the children
are doing.

Speaker 2 (25:33):
Whoever approved that playground doesn't like kids.

Speaker 3 (25:36):
That's it's like eco friendly is great, but I mean
it's kid from not at all. Our environment may thank them, Shannon,
but I don't know if the if the children will Jerry,
go ahead, Jerry, Well first.

Speaker 9 (25:54):
For Ryan, it happened for me. Eventually, you'll find somebody
special to spend your time with and till the good
dog dog can get you through.

Speaker 3 (26:01):
He's got three. There you go.

Speaker 9 (26:04):
But anyway, did you see that article in alf On
a couple of days ago where they ranked all the
conjecture starting quarterbacks in college football?

Speaker 5 (26:11):
I did not, let me guess you're gonna say. They
had kow Zada very low.

Speaker 9 (26:16):
They had Kelzada ranked number seventy, the lowest in the SEC.
But what was interesting is it Toledo quarterback? They ranked
him at number sixty seven.

Speaker 3 (26:25):
Good, Well, we don't play, they don't play against each other.
They're on different sides of the ball, so we should
be uh well, you know, I listen, I get it.
I can understand why people would have Kowzada low if
you look at production. I'm you know, at this point,
we are nine days away from starting, so like wringing
our hands about it not him not being good? Like,

(26:47):
what's the point at this point? Like it is what
it is. We're gonna see what happens in nine days,
and I think it's I think we are going to
be better than people think. How that translates to wins? Jerry,
I don't know.

Speaker 9 (27:00):
Well that's that's the problem is I guess that's kind
of honest. Uh, you know this students is really hit.
You can make the argument this is a tough schedule.

Speaker 8 (27:08):
He's faced.

Speaker 5 (27:09):
I think you're probably right. I think that's probably true.

Speaker 9 (27:13):
And he's got probably you know, to be fairish roster
they've had in four years, and so.

Speaker 3 (27:24):
I think they're right in hindsight. Their roster last year
was worse. I mean, on paper, did you have guys
who on paper could have been really good. Yes, but
when you look at production, like just look at the
guys we went into the season talking about last year
with Dane and Barry On and uh and and and
Van de griff and then Dion Walker Maxwell Harston. You

(27:46):
could make a strong argument that what you thought you
were going to get from those five, for various reasons,
you really only got from Maxwell Harston.

Speaker 4 (27:54):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (27:55):
So, I mean, you know, I think that in the end,
and I appreciate the call, Jerry. I think this team
has a better roster than last year. Maybe not the
high end names at the top, but better overall depth.

Speaker 4 (28:08):
I think our first string guys are that good. I
don't know about our depth yet, but I think our
first string guys can line up with anybody in the SEC.
You think, so, I'm going to say that, and you know,
but is that if Klazata confined the magic he had
when he was at Texas A and M and play
like that way, Yeah, well yeah, that can make a
huge difference.

Speaker 3 (28:27):
One person says Matt, I feel Ryan's pain. My daughter
is moving to college on Saturday, even though it's her
second year. It didn't get easier after the.

Speaker 4 (28:35):
First year WHOA, I don't need to hear that.

Speaker 3 (28:38):
Yeah, I don't know that that helped.

Speaker 9 (28:40):
No.

Speaker 3 (28:41):
As far as players that could play in Pope's system
really well, I think some good people, some good ones
said here, I love the pick of Bam.

Speaker 4 (28:49):
Yeah, that's a great one.

Speaker 3 (28:50):
I think actually BAM would be great. Bam was really
good with Cal, But I actually think Bam would be
great with Pope.

Speaker 5 (28:58):
DeMarcus Cousins.

Speaker 4 (28:59):
See, we should have seen.

Speaker 3 (29:00):
That's a good one because DeMarcus is a pretty good passer,
and he could shoot a little, and he's a big read.
But DeMarcus would have been really good. Carl Towns, Yes,
except he wasn't a great pastor in college, although he's
become a really good passer in the pros at times.

Speaker 4 (29:14):
Yeah, cow didn't let him shoot when he was here.

Speaker 3 (29:17):
Patrick Patterson would be a perfect four. Patrick Patterson as
a four, like think of what Allensley almondor did and
Andrew Carr and then make a dude who can take
it to the rim and play Patterson. But like it
would if you were to draw up a four in
a lab for Mark Pope, you would draw up Patrick Patterson,
wouldn't you.

Speaker 4 (29:34):
I think he would have been. Yeah, maybe one of
the best teams in the best players in America playing
Pope system.

Speaker 3 (29:39):
Yeah, I do too. Let's go to Jeff in Tennessee
EIGHTF I'm nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven, Jeff,
I first ball.

Speaker 8 (29:45):
I want to give a shout at the Joel George,
which is one of my friends. Number two O Ryan.
I know the stocking Kleenex goes up this time of year,
so you probably at five or six boss, remember draw
one to ask you guys about the loot of all team.
They play next weekend in Nashville, play Lipstim on Saturday.
They played Nebraska on TV on ABC Sunday have been

(30:07):
how many people you think are gonna come up here
to watch it? It's gonna be a triple leedter. Kentucky
plays first Leedtering.

Speaker 3 (30:14):
Yeah, is that the one where they play? When?

Speaker 5 (30:16):
When do they play Nebraska?

Speaker 8 (30:18):
Is that that they play Sunday Sunday afternoon?

Speaker 3 (30:21):
A yeah, so Kentucky that is going to be They
are sane and I appreciate like the biggest spotlights women's
volleyball has ever gotten is that event. It's in Nashville,
I think, Yeah, Louisville plays someone and Kentucky though plays
Nebraska on ABC. It's only like the fourth time ever
women's volleyball game has been on UH, it has been

(30:44):
on network television, and it's Kentucky and Nebraska Sunday.

Speaker 4 (30:48):
I believe great exposure for both schools and for the
sport of women's volleyball. It's kind of becoming more popular.
You get these house teams going against each other. Could
be really fun to watch.

Speaker 3 (30:56):
You know. We have a listener who is a big
UK I bought one of our friends. He tells me
this is Craig's second, maybe even first best team. Really
he thinks that it's just maybe a notch below the
national title.

Speaker 4 (31:10):
Really, well, Nebraska's always got one of the best teams
in the country, so they're going to find out pretty
quick where where they stand.

Speaker 3 (31:16):
Yeah, but I mean they're expecting I don't know what
the crowd. They're expecting a massive crowd at the game.
And then it is on ABC and Kentucky got picked
as the opponent, so that's something. Nebraska will be the
favorite because Nebraska is always the favorite. But I said something,
they said something for Kentucky that they're going to be
in the game, right.

Speaker 4 (31:33):
I want to tune it in and watch a little
bit of it and see how they stacked them.

Speaker 3 (31:36):
What time it will say, have to see. I'll have
to see what time it is. But very cool. Shady
Rays is also very cool sunglasses. We were just out there.
I now have like four payers and that I have
the ones that are the what do you call it
where the sun?

Speaker 2 (31:51):
Well, no, that's where it blocks the sun. That's just
all sunglasses.

Speaker 3 (31:56):
I see. I knew you were going to That's what
they do. There's a special one. It's like laser anyway.

Speaker 2 (32:03):
Color Rush, Color Rush.

Speaker 3 (32:05):
That's it. Color Rush, same thing. Shady Rays independent Canon Company,
Premium polarized shades.

Speaker 5 (32:10):
The color Rush like makes the color really clear and.

Speaker 3 (32:13):
Likes you for wordsmith, it won't get stuck in your hair.
The color Rush lenses provide ultimate color enhanced visibility. They
have the best lost and broken replacement guarantee. Uh Shady Race.
The guy who started that in Uisle. He might end
up being the governor of Kentucky at some point, just
based on sunglasses. Go to Shady Rays Shady rays dot com.

(32:35):
Use my code KSR. We'll take a break, be right
back if I'm nine to two eighth, twenty two eighty seven,
Kentucky Sports Radio. Welcome back Tucky Sports Radio. Shaneon, you
see like I am feeling simpathy for right. It feels
like you are not You are not like like whereas
all the listeners are like, I hope Ryan's okay. You're
just sitting there cackling.

Speaker 1 (32:55):
You always that type of relationship where we can laugh
at each other. He laughs at my misfortunes.

Speaker 2 (33:00):
I laugh. It isn't If you need to call me
late at night, Ryan, I'm here for you.

Speaker 3 (33:04):
Yeah, I mean that's another thing the same with me.
Like if you really, like, if you get really lonely
on some night, you call, you can come over. So
long as you go home, you can, you can come over.
We can watch a game, just sit there zero.

Speaker 4 (33:19):
I do have a good suggestion from a listener. Okay,
people my age all over the America are going back
to school getting another degree.

Speaker 5 (33:26):
I just suggested that.

Speaker 3 (33:28):
My mom just did that.

Speaker 4 (33:29):
So I'll do that and live in the dorm right
next to your but I could live.

Speaker 3 (33:35):
No, you can't live in a dorm. That's that's weird.
You can watch school, but like.

Speaker 4 (33:41):
Take same classes. He does sit by him in classroom.

Speaker 3 (33:44):
All right, now you're you're, you're this. You also have
to let him be an adult. He's he needs, he
needs time to to to be You know, these are
in my opinion that these years of college are like
the most important years of your life. Even if you
don't go to college, years eighteen to twenty four really

(34:07):
shape who you are as a person. Most of the
people that are your lifelong friends meet eighteen to twenty four.
Keep some high school friends, but most people their lifelong
friends come from eighteen when you I don't have kids,
but I know people like when their kids go to school,
they become friends with their kids' parents, like their kids friends' parents.

(34:31):
But then when it's like the core group, it tends
to be the people you eighteen twenty four. So he's
got to have those those moments too, to like have
have that happened for him?

Speaker 4 (34:42):
I need to admit. The last text I got from
him was at ten o'clock last night. He was going
to a barn party.

Speaker 3 (34:48):
He's already he's.

Speaker 2 (34:49):
Already into it, he's already living in college life. One day,
in two hours, he's already over it.

Speaker 3 (34:54):
Yeah, first of all, I'm impressed. He told you like
he didn't. He didn't have to, He didn't even have
have to tell you.

Speaker 4 (35:00):
Said they're headed to a barn party and I haven't
heard from him since.

Speaker 8 (35:02):
Oh.

Speaker 3 (35:03):
Someone they suggested this would be good because it probably
also be good for business. You could during the first
couple of weeks we're open, you could deliver ks bar
like they could. They could call request you and then
you could deliver probably be good tips for you. It'd
be cool to like.

Speaker 4 (35:18):
Forget my mind off everything?

Speaker 3 (35:20):
Would you?

Speaker 5 (35:20):
Would you when you were listening to the Reds you
like doing that?

Speaker 4 (35:23):
I would. I would probably welcome that.

Speaker 3 (35:25):
Could maybe on some of the orally like on the
Tuesday or Wednesday, and something for you to do.

Speaker 4 (35:30):
Yeah, good distraction, get my mind off things.

Speaker 3 (35:33):
Yeah, so I actually think that's uh, that's you know,
that's a pretty good, pretty good suggestion. So the big
controversy on, you know, every week or so, Shanon, everybody
has to get worked up about something. Oh yeah, right,
we can't just we can't. Everybody's gotta everybody'snna have something
to be angry about. The one now is cracker barrel.

Speaker 2 (35:50):
I've seen it.

Speaker 5 (35:51):
They changed a cracker barrel.

Speaker 2 (35:52):
I'm upset, so this one strong feeling.

Speaker 3 (35:56):
Okay, well, let me explain what happened if you haven't
seen it. The old cracker barrel logo which had the
old man sitting next to the barrel. Yeah you know
what I'm saying, and he's sitting there. They now have
changed it. They're trying to make a more modern esthetic,
which is like, it actually looks pretty boring. It's just
like just words that's say cracker barrel. But it takes

(36:17):
the old man in the barrel off. Like I think,
just from a logo perspective, I think it's a pretty
I think it's a mistake. You're basically taking had a
distinct look and changing it. Shannon, you hate it.

Speaker 1 (36:33):
I have less of a problem about the logo change
and more of a problem about this renovation that they're
doing trying to make cracker barrel look more modern.

Speaker 2 (36:40):
It looks toned down. It looks like a Denny's. If
I wanted a Denny's, I would go to a Denny's.

Speaker 3 (36:44):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (36:44):
They're taking away all of the I don't know, the nostalgia.

Speaker 3 (36:48):
Yeah, they're taking away like all the brooms that hang
on the wall. Yeah, they're taking all that and they're
making it to where it looks more modern. I get it.
Like I I agree with shit like cracker barrel to
some extent.

Speaker 2 (37:03):
Is it's old, Tommy.

Speaker 3 (37:04):
That's what it's Tommy. That's the whole point. Now the
problem apparently it's down like they're like even in Middlesbrough,
I remember how you couldn't get in it, and yeah.

Speaker 5 (37:13):
Every time i've been recently not the same. Like it's
just not so.

Speaker 3 (37:16):
I think they're trying to figure out that they're wanting
to put cracker barrels in big cities, right, They're wanting
to put them afraid the current business. If we just
have brooms and whittles in there, people won't go.

Speaker 1 (37:30):
But they're still gonna put that up on the wall,
but in a different way. I mean, I don't know
if you've seen the pictures of it.

Speaker 3 (37:35):
I saw the pictures. It looks the white walls.

Speaker 1 (37:37):
I need, the brown lattice, the brown floors, the oil lamp,
you know, the t game.

Speaker 3 (37:42):
Yeah, I agree with you. I mean, cracker barrel is
cracker barrel is a vibe, right right, But I also
think it's a vibe that like if you're wanting to
expand your business outside of towns, Like, does that vibe
work in a city because more people live in cities. Yeah, right,
So I don't know. I mean, I I'm with sharing it.

(38:03):
It doesn't work for me. I think the logo is
a mistake. The new logo is so much more boring
than the old logo.

Speaker 2 (38:10):
Yeah, I mean is it supposed to be?

Speaker 6 (38:12):
Just?

Speaker 2 (38:12):
Are they changing it for the sake of changing it?

Speaker 3 (38:14):
I don't know. I think they're changing it because their
sales have gone way down and they're trying to be well.

Speaker 5 (38:19):
I think they're trying to figure out, what do you rejuvenate.

Speaker 2 (38:21):
Let's take the man it's currently not working.

Speaker 3 (38:25):
I mean, it's it's sort of the same problem a
lot of companies have, Like, Okay, if I do this
one thing really well that people like, but as a business,
I need to get other people. How do I get
other people without making mad the people that already have
That's a hard thing to do.

Speaker 4 (38:41):
Yeah, the people who love Cracker Barrel still go there
twice a month, But like.

Speaker 3 (38:46):
The restaurant restaurants like that. As someone who's in the
restaurant business chain, sit down restaurants have never done worse
than they're doing now right, because people nowadays either wants
something really cheap like fast food, yeah, or they want

(39:07):
a more local or unique experience. The Applebee's of the world.
They're just they're dying. And Cracker Barrel was a little different,
but it's still having the same problems, Like people just
don't go except for like Texas Roadhouse. People just it's
always but people don't go to those places anymore. And

(39:27):
I think Cracker Barrel is probably dealing with the same
thing because of explation and costs, Like people are either
going cheap or they're going unique.

Speaker 2 (39:37):
I was there last week.

Speaker 3 (39:38):
It's the same thing that's happened to malls, and it's
the same thing. Like that's sort of in the eighties
and nineties, we all wanted the sameness of America all
being the same, and I think that's not true anymore,
and it's hurting places like Cracker Barrel.

Speaker 4 (39:53):
Can you think the last time you went to a
Cracker Barrel?

Speaker 3 (39:55):
Probably with my parents, But even my parents will go anymore.

Speaker 4 (39:58):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (39:58):
See, like when they lost my parents, that's when I
knew they were kind of in trouble, huh, because my
parents used to love it.

Speaker 4 (40:03):
Especially in a place like Middlesbrough. You think that'd be
a great place Joe and Philly go ahead, Joe.

Speaker 10 (40:08):
Uh Solidarity, Solidarity, and a suggestion. Ryan, I don't. I
don't end you at one bit. I lived with family, college, roommates,
two girlfriends over the last twenty five years. I can't
imagine what you're going through. The Last time I went
through it, I ended up letting some intern from our
company I barely knew live in my hospital.

Speaker 6 (40:31):
Suggestion.

Speaker 3 (40:33):
I think it'd be good.

Speaker 10 (40:34):
For Ryan, good for show content, good.

Speaker 6 (40:36):
For the community.

Speaker 10 (40:37):
If you just did auctions for his house for one month,
make sure they're not an AX murderer, and they get
to live with Ryan for one month.

Speaker 3 (40:49):
I love it. That would be great for content. Yeah,
I appreciate. I appreciate the call. I got your break roight.
You could box it off to live with Ryde for
a month. First of all, I don't know anybody would
buy that, but if they did, it'd be good content.
Shandon right like the move in.

Speaker 2 (41:05):
Yeah, it goes better no matter who it is.

Speaker 4 (41:08):
I always thought Joe and Flay was one of our
best callers.

Speaker 3 (41:10):
That was the not call of the day. I like it.
I think it's a good idea. I don't know, I
don't know how many people would buy.

Speaker 2 (41:15):
Younger girl might get jealous, though.

Speaker 4 (41:19):
Halle Berry wants to come in with Halle You

Speaker 5 (41:23):
Always say, Halle Berry.
