prices at Don Franklin. Tonight is Thursday night football. We
are having it by the way at KOs Bar and Grill.
We're doing something special. Two dollars bud lights. That's gotta
be good, Drew right, Just two dollars for a bud light.
That's got to be amazing. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:43):
One a coincidence. I have two dollars.

Speaker 4 (01:46):
You look so perfect. They're also doing three dollars they
have for those Mark Stoops margaritas. We got to sell
those shading in case they lose to South Carolina and Georgia,
they have to rename it to something else. But two
and three dollars. I feel like that's pretty good. And
I wanted to say about ks bar. We are very proud,
Like I'm not just saying this, so I've always been

(02:07):
proud of having the place and at times and like
I'm very proud of the wings and the cheese logs,
but overall I thought the food was good, but it
wasn't great and we wanted to fix it and we
took the time off during the break to do it.
And the food is good, like, it's really good. I'm
genuinely proud of it. And if you have it, please come,

(02:27):
and especially while I'm gone. Place needs to to We'll
need business while I'm gone. We also don't have a
home game for a month. Please go visit them for
these games NFL or college football or the Kentucky game Saturday.
But the food is genuinely good and people have worked
really hard, our staff, so please go check it out.
I think you will like it, and if you don't,

(02:49):
we'll fix it. And if and if that doesn't work,
you can punch ryde. I think those are not hard,
not hard, but like just like a love tap.

Speaker 3 (02:59):
You know, you've been get a lot of belly slaps
last couple of I've been quietly counting the belly slaps
that Ryan.

Speaker 4 (03:06):
It just sticks out there, and I like to hit
it because first of all, you have a belly. But right,
I will say it's a hard belly you have, like
amongst the belly is like abs of steel. Ryan's like
if you hit, if you if you hit most people's belly,
it wiggles. Right, Ryan's is a hard belly, And I
think that's why it's fun to hit, because it just did.

(03:29):
Like you, I feel like it doesn't hurt, does it, Ryan?
You're you're you have abs of steel? Yeah.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
I was worried about your hand hurting your hand because
it didn't bother me at all.

Speaker 3 (03:38):
Like there's an over under on DraftKings one and a
half belly slaps per remote for show.

Speaker 4 (03:43):
Yeah, it's a it's a new sign of affection, Ryan.
I hope you feel that way. O.

Speaker 2 (03:47):
Well, you know, bringing on.

Speaker 4 (03:49):
Okay, now, bring it on. You know what I'm excited about, Ryan, limit,
what's that? I think the Reds are back?

Speaker 3 (03:56):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (03:56):
Come on, Oh it's September, man, they're dead.

Speaker 4 (04:01):
Go well, let me just a couple facts. Sixteen games
to go, Ryan, they're only two games back. Okay, they're
two games back, Mets are ahead of them, they're tied.
With the Giants. But here's the key. They have the
tiebreaker on both those teams. They have the tiebreaker on
both the Mets and the Giants, so if they finish tied,

(04:23):
they win. So really they're two games back. But that's all.
That's all that matters.

Speaker 6 (04:28):
Now.

Speaker 4 (04:28):
Their schedule. They play the A's Friday, Saturday, Sunday. Then
they play your Cardinals, then they play I think they
play the Pirates, they play the Cubs and the Brewers. Now,
the Cubs and the Brewers have given them fits for
a long time, but they're in it. I'm not saying
they're gonna do it. They've given away games, but I
was I I was up last night, I listen. I'd

(04:50):
given up and I still think it's unlikely. I think
major League Baseball has them as a ten percent chance.
But they're in it, Ryan, and that's kind of exciting.
The Mets have lost five straight trying to give us
a chance.

Speaker 2 (05:03):
So they finished the season though with the Cubs and
the Brewers. After they wrap up the season with.

Speaker 4 (05:07):
They go, I think they got pirates, they go as
I think they have A's, Cardinals, Cubs, Pirates, Brewers. Correct.
I think that's that's what they have left.

Speaker 2 (05:18):
Yeah, the Brewers may be resting their people maybe that
last series, and they've already clinched to the spot. That's true.

Speaker 4 (05:23):
Oh, that's true. I hadn't thought about that. They may
be trying to get their pitching staff at all. Huh yep. Yeah,
so see, I hadn't thought about that. Shannon, that's a
new little ud.

Speaker 3 (05:33):
You gotta still be in it when you get to
that series. You can't lose to the As.

Speaker 4 (05:37):
Yeah, I mean, they've got to win two of three
against the A's. You'd like to have a sweep, but
they've got to win. I think they just I think
you look at that, Drew, and you just say, we
gotta win every series, right, two of three, two of
three in all those series, and then you might have
a chance.

Speaker 5 (05:51):
I'm more interested in if you're learning a lesson on
giving up. I remember the West Coast Swing. I was like, Matt,
it's early August. How are you throwing in the towel?
And it's they're the worst of her They don't even
deserve to be in the major leagues. They should go
down to the minors. And now a month later you're like, well,
we're back. Maybe you should just just give them a
little time.

Speaker 4 (06:11):
A couple of things have changed their whole pitching staff
is healthy right now. Nicolodolo fixed his stupid blister. Right,
Hunter Green is do it like looking like Hunter Green? Fat?
Damon had a good night last night? Then, Uh, they
brought this dude named sal Up. We met his dad
Ryan at the at the game. Right, sal Stewart, we
met his dad.

Speaker 2 (06:31):
That's right.

Speaker 4 (06:33):
Seem seems to have made a great impression on you.
I don't know, Wait a minute, You like didn't talk
to him because you were so mesmerized by the batting practice.

Speaker 2 (06:41):
I was during batting practice. No, I was not fulting.

Speaker 4 (06:43):
You remember meeting him. He talked to us for like
ten minutes. Did you not gaze this?

Speaker 2 (06:48):
This is news to me, and I'm.

Speaker 4 (06:51):
You didn't speak to the guy. No, that was Stewart.
He had immigrated to America from Cuba, and he was
all proud of his son, and we were talking to him.
You didn't beat to him. This happened during when we're
watching Betty Price. Happen during batting practice. No, I said
to him. He was standing there and I looked at
him and said, congratulations on your son. And he came

(07:12):
over and he talked to me and tall and Mario
and did you not say I to him?

Speaker 2 (07:17):
No, I had no idea this was going on.

Speaker 4 (07:19):
TJ.

Speaker 2 (07:20):
Friedom may have been in the cage at that time,
and I'm not taking my laser focus off of him.

Speaker 4 (07:23):
Like the kind of story he would lie. He was
talking about how he'd come to America and Salad worked hard,
and sal was like then, like the hardest worker.

Speaker 2 (07:32):
Mario says he doesn't remember either.

Speaker 4 (07:35):
Are you two we're watching batting practice? I guess because
I have no idea. Mario doesn't remember either.

Speaker 5 (07:42):
No, Matt, was this a dream?

Speaker 4 (07:44):
It was?

Speaker 5 (07:46):
Is Sal's dad in the room with us right now?
Is Sal's dad in the room there?

Speaker 4 (07:49):
Mario may not have been over there because he was
on the other side with that man rubbing on him
on the other side.

Speaker 5 (07:55):
Let's hear more about that.

Speaker 4 (07:56):
Yeah, yeah, Mario, I got Mario, Mario, tell tell them
about the man at the Reds batting practice rubbing on you. Mario.
What did he say? He said, tell him about the man,
the man on the batting practice rubbing on you.

Speaker 7 (08:10):
Yeah, well I would I wouldn't say rubbing on me,
but like I was next to Ryan, and then there
was this dude who was like about five feet behind me,
and I seen him and he was watching and a's
fifteen minutes went by, he was getting closer and closer
to me. By the time it was like we're ending
out the batting practice, He's like right in front of me,
like he.

Speaker 4 (08:29):
Was like even even a massage, that's what he was doing.

Speaker 7 (08:33):
And I'm like, bro like, and he apologized twice. He's like,
I'm sorry, sorry about that. I was like, what, like,
can you stop? Like, can you use space? That's exactly
what happened. I guess he wanted to touch me or
something like that.

Speaker 8 (08:44):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (08:45):
Yeah, Mario talked about it reliving. He goes, man, that
guy was all my personal space. I'm like, what guy?
I had no idea what he was talking about.

Speaker 4 (08:51):
So you didn't see the guy in Mario space. And
he didn't know south Stewart's stad.

Speaker 2 (08:54):
Nope, nope. But I saw TJ friedele practice.

Speaker 4 (08:58):
And that's how into it he was. He didn't let
anything stop him. This man comes over with tears in
his eyes talking about how proud he is of his
rookie son, and Ryan's like shut up. Matt McLean's hit
and I don't want to hear it.

Speaker 3 (09:09):
Sound like a lot going on there between Ryan being
Bezbaras with a VP and Mario getting rubbed. It's a
lot happening.

Speaker 2 (09:17):
I'm trying to holler at Colin Cowgill to come and
talk to us and get shushed and Ryan, you can't do.

Speaker 4 (09:21):
That, Yeah, he yelled at so they they had one rule,
shandon through one rule. As we walked out, they said
don't yell at the players or coaches, like saying like
come here, right.

Speaker 3 (09:36):
They were like, they're Francona.

Speaker 4 (09:39):
I wasn't gonna yell at him. What was that. I
wasn't gonna be like like, I wasn't gonna do that.
But you know who did? And of all people, he
didn't yell at the players or Terry Francona. He yelled
at the first base coach. He yelled at Colin Cowgill,
who played at Kentucky, and he kept going Colin, Colin, Colin,

(10:02):
and the Reds guy was like.

Speaker 3 (10:06):
This is a major league baseball team in the hunt
for the playoffs, and Ryan's trying to flood but for the.

Speaker 4 (10:10):
Playoffs and he's sitting there yelling at me.

Speaker 2 (10:13):
Well, Collin's done. He did his drills, he was done.
He was just kind of hanging out there. Said hey, man,
what's you come over here?

Speaker 4 (10:17):
He didn't respond what I did, Shannon, what's up? I
just said, go cats? And then he turned around. He did, Yeah,
he did the cats. Then he turned around.

Speaker 2 (10:27):
He's a Henry Clay blue devil. He's one of us,
you know. I wanted to talk to him.

Speaker 4 (10:31):
They literally they had one rule, Drew do not yell
at the players and coaches. Ryan broke it in three minutes.

Speaker 3 (10:37):
I don't think he's one of you.

Speaker 4 (10:38):
Ryan.

Speaker 3 (10:39):
You say he's one of us, he's not. He's really not.
You want to be one of him? I think that's
exactly right.

Speaker 4 (10:46):
Yeah, Bryan, which as he was him, who's next?

Speaker 3 (10:48):
Pickleball?

Speaker 4 (10:49):
Paul? Pickleball? Paul? How are you eight? I'm nine? Seven? Fine?

Speaker 9 (10:55):
What's going on?

Speaker 10 (10:55):
Man?

Speaker 9 (10:56):
I think yesterday was a horrible tragedy for our country. Uh,
talking about the football team. I don't get to listen
to your show a whole lot lately. And I've been
listening this morning and it's quarterback, quarterback, quarterback, quarterback. I've
been watching this for two three years now. Actually, in
my opinion, longer than that. I don't think Tom Brady
or Joe Montana would win. I don't think it's a

(11:16):
quarterback problem. I think we're better on the line. I
think our defense is pretty good. Our runners run hard,
but when it's third and eight, you throw two yards
behind the line of scrimmage or you can't get a playoff.
I think there's one constant here that we've had the
problem for years. It's the offensive coordinator and the head coach.
And I don't know why any what they call skilled
athlete quarterback, wide receiver, tight end would want to come play.

(11:41):
I don't think Zach Calzada is necessarily bad. I don't
know if Cutter poly is going to be good until
they changed the system here, I think we'll waste our
time talking about whose quarterback. And I was curious about
your y'all's opinions, especially pretty good friendly there.

Speaker 4 (11:58):
Yeah, well that's a good question, Ryan, what do you think.

Speaker 2 (12:02):
I think there's some truth in the fact that our
offensive line is good this year and our running game
is good this year, but for whatever reason, the passing
game and the receivers maybe not there yet. So I
don't think we're gonna coach. Yeah, And I don't think
they've got a choice. I think the choice this year
is we're gonna have to just ground it and pound
it and run the football if we're gonna have any
kind of success.

Speaker 4 (12:22):
And I don't think that's gonna change. I mean, I
think it's fair to say though, that part of the
reason Dane and Barrion left is the question of whether
or not they could reach their potential. Here do you
put that on the coaches?

Speaker 2 (12:39):
I do. I think some of the writing was on
the wall that this offensive scheme was not going to
change and the passing game was going to kind of
diminish a little bit. And I think those two guys
saw that coming.

Speaker 4 (12:49):
And what do you mean by that the offensive scheme
was not gonna change like what was in what was wrong?

Speaker 2 (12:57):
I think the offensive coamnan they currently have is focuses
so much and the head coach running game ground and pounded,
moved to change that way field position, time clock. You know,
you're run as much time as you can. And I
think they've steered away from the passing game that kind
of with Liam Cohen kind of tried to put in
and I think that I think the guys knew that

(13:17):
with Bush coming back and Stoop still here, things weren't
gonna change from last year at all.

Speaker 4 (13:22):
True. Do you agree with that? Yes?

Speaker 5 (13:26):
And uh, I hate saying this out loud as a
Kentucky fan, but I don't know what they show wide
receiver recruits. It's what they pitch them, like shir when
they go into a home, what are they pointing at
from there?

Speaker 4 (13:37):
Really?

Speaker 5 (13:38):
Though, You're right, like, I don't even know how they
get receivers as it is so to have Danon berry On.
I mean, I've said many times if I were Danon Berryon,
I would have left like this is just has never
been a passing offense where we're lighting up scoreboards and
putting up big yards. It's never been that Miwan Dell
was special. He was one of a kind. And we've
had a few guys. I'm a big Garrett Johnson fan

(13:59):
back in the day. We had a good year, but
overall this is not really a great destination for wide
receivers period.

Speaker 2 (14:05):
And what's crazy, Mary, When Tubs first got here, they
brought in Neil Brown to do the air raid and
Shannon Dawson was supposed to do the air raid. I
don't know what happened to that philosophy, but it definitely
is not anything close to that right now.

Speaker 4 (14:16):
Yeah, well, I mean I think that's a good discussion.
I appreciate the call, Paul. I mean, yeah, it's easy
to say, well, it's the quarterback, it's the receivers. But
maybe you just have a system that's just not gonna
let those guys shine no matter what.

Speaker 2 (14:32):
And I think it's what we got right now.

Speaker 5 (14:35):
And tight ends come here and become blockers. I mean
it's always been that way with stoops. We've had some
promising tight ends and they come here and don't do
anything because they're having to help out an offensive line
that didn't do its job or whatever.

Speaker 4 (14:47):
They don't have a.

Speaker 5 (14:47):
Quarterback and get them the ball. Receivers and tight ends
have been pretty non existent the whole time, at least
putting up big numbers.

Speaker 4 (14:55):

Richie Farmer just told me he liked like the cheeseburger.
And he says, how about this. I'm Richie Farmer. I'm
a cheeseburger connoisseur.

Speaker 3 (15:34):
I believe them.

Speaker 4 (15:35):
I like it. He writes that I'm Richie Farmer. I'm
a cheeseburger connoisseur. He should get a T shirt around.
I'm Richie Farmer. I'm a cheeseburger connoisseur. We'll take a break,
very back, it KSR. You know I love this song?
Shinnon yep, John pause away. That's why it works, and
I love it. And he's gonna be a bourbon and

(15:57):
beyond today too, right, that's right.

Speaker 3 (15:58):
Yeah, it's a good line up today.

Speaker 4 (16:00):
Can he still hit these notes? I'll tell you. They'll
tell you notes are tough. Do you think he can I'll.

Speaker 3 (16:05):
Tell you in October when I was talking to you, next.

Speaker 4 (16:10):
What times he playing? Like if I were in Louisville,
I would go just to hear.

Speaker 3 (16:15):
He's playing from seven to twenty five till eight fifteen?

Speaker 4 (16:19):
Is he just singing this song over?

Speaker 3 (16:21):
And I think they've got other songs? I think we're
just we just know the hits.

Speaker 4 (16:25):
You think he has other songs? When he gets up there,
everybody's gonna be like, shut up, just sing Missy right right?

Speaker 3 (16:30):
Yeah, I mean that's the only reason you sit there
and wait for him to play.

Speaker 4 (16:33):
Who else is on the lineup today? Red Meat? The
big one?

Speaker 3 (16:36):
All right? So today the Lumineers.

Speaker 4 (16:38):
They're the head of the Lumineers. You like the Lumineers,
don't you, Drew?

Speaker 5 (16:41):
Yes, They're the reason I'm going and to see Benson
Boon too, front flip.

Speaker 4 (16:45):
Yes, I like the Lumineers.

Speaker 3 (16:47):
You know, like one song from the Lumineers rightly?

Speaker 4 (16:50):
I know a couple of they They sang it Willie
Nelson's ninetieth birthday. I went to they sang Pretty Paper,
which was awesome. That was one of my favorite performances
at Willie Nelson's birthday.

Speaker 3 (17:01):
So you got Pat Benatar.

Speaker 4 (17:04):
Yeah, he said so, Bits and Boone is tonight right,
he's gonna backflip in his little old costa.

Speaker 3 (17:08):
Yeah, Alabama shiks who have already?

Speaker 4 (17:10):
We go back to Pat Benatar? What's her song? Heartbreaker
with your best shot? Battlefield Alabama? Shanks has got that
one woman. She's got a really good voice. What's her names?
They had one song that was big.

Speaker 3 (17:26):
But I played it already.

Speaker 4 (17:27):
Yeah, yeah, I've heard them. What else? Uh?

Speaker 3 (17:30):
Well, the band that I think is going to be
the best one of the night, Collective Soul, will be
playing there.

Speaker 4 (17:35):
Okay, so they had a lot of shot shot December.

Speaker 9 (17:41):
Right.

Speaker 3 (17:42):
I'm trying to think of some Cage the Elephant. They're
a Kentucky band.

Speaker 4 (17:45):
Now, who is Cage's the Olf?

Speaker 3 (17:46):
Ain't no rest for the Wicked. I'll play them next.
You know that song from.

Speaker 5 (17:49):
Bowling Green, Right?

Speaker 4 (17:50):
Yeah, that's Bowling Green, right? Okay? Yeah? And then Blind Melon, Yeah,
of course you played that.

Speaker 3 (17:55):
I'd love that old ninety sevens. I don't know if
you know who they are or not.

Speaker 4 (17:58):
That's country, isn't it? Like rockabilly?

Speaker 10 (18:01):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (18:01):
I think so. The rest of them. I don't think
you would know. TV on the radio. You probably don't
know that band. Yeah, that's that's pretty much it for
the band you would probably Well that's good.

Speaker 4 (18:10):
So you you Drew's going for Benson Boone because you
need to do the backflips, right.

Speaker 5 (18:15):
Yeah, I would dress this him if I had time
to find the costume. I won't backflip. But I am
interested too. Yeah, I'm ready for the Benson Boone experience.
Somebody wrote me yesterday and they're kind of like me.
They don't know anything about him. I can't name a song,
but they said they went to a show. It is incredible.
So I'm ready to see something that I don't even
know what it is, but I'm excited.

Speaker 4 (18:35):
What is his song Don't Beautiful? Yeah?

Speaker 5 (18:42):
Yeah, yeah, I butchered that and I don't really know
the words.

Speaker 2 (18:46):
There we go, I want you, I need.

Speaker 4 (18:48):
You, Okay, okay, say okay, that's plenty. Okay, Well that
sounds like a good day. And so you're going out there, Shandon,
You're gonna be out there.

Speaker 5 (19:01):
This is my first time, the whole time.

Speaker 3 (19:03):
Yeah, yep, for all four days. And any tips for
a rookie, uh well, yeah, you can bring in an
empty bottle of water and they've got no one just
coming in litter before you laugh, before you laugh, all right,
we'll move on.

Speaker 5 (19:20):
I'm good, I'm sorry.

Speaker 3 (19:22):
Bring it up.

Speaker 4 (19:23):
That's the funny thing to say. You can an empty.

Speaker 3 (19:26):
Pottlem All right, let's move on.

Speaker 4 (19:28):
No, go ahead, go ahead.

Speaker 3 (19:29):
No, I want to know why you gotta bring an
empty bottle, because, first of all, if you're gonna be
drinking alcohol, you might want to drink some water and
mix that in. That's good, right, So they've got filling
stations out there where you can get free water. If
you have a bottle of water like empty, you can't
bring it in, but you can fill it up for free.
You can get free water instead of having to pay
eight dollars for a bottle of water.

Speaker 4 (19:47):
So can you.

Speaker 5 (19:49):
No, No, you can bring one twenty ounce sealed water.
No more than twenty No yetties, no thermoces. So I
already have my twenty ounce water factory sealed, ready to go.

Speaker 3 (19:59):
If it's factor yeah, that's right, but only one of those.
They don't want your bringing in vodka though.

Speaker 5 (20:03):
And not twenty one ounces, just twenty.

Speaker 4 (20:05):
It has to be factory sealed.

Speaker 3 (20:07):
Or empty, just so you're not bringing in vodka.

Speaker 4 (20:13):
Just look like, all right, how's it work? Bringing one bottle?
One plastic bottle? You're good, you laugh.

Speaker 3 (20:20):
But I'm telling you, when it's hot out there and
you've been out there for twelve hours, it's it's a
good thing.

Speaker 4 (20:24):
It's supposed to be hot like all weekend, isn't it like.

Speaker 3 (20:27):
Early ninety eight five something like that?

Speaker 4 (20:30):
Yeah, oh god, that's not too bad. That's not too bad.
All right, who's next?

Speaker 3 (20:32):
All right, let's get a big rig, big rig.

Speaker 4 (20:34):
Go ahead.

Speaker 11 (20:37):
Hell y'all doing today?

Speaker 4 (20:38):
Matt doing good? Thank you?

Speaker 11 (20:42):
Yeah, you're welcome.

Speaker 4 (20:44):
Yeah.

Speaker 11 (20:44):
Uh. I got a hypothetical question for you. I want
your all's opinion on this. When, if so I say,
Stoops is not here at the end of the year,
who would you think would be a good replacement me,
myself and my son? Thinks John somerl.

Speaker 4 (21:04):
Yeah. I mean I think that's what most people would
say right now. You know, there's a lot of time left.
I appreciate the call. I think Tulane plays Duke and
then Old Miss over the next two weeks, so you
win those two games. As Drew has talked about, you
might not he might be better than you at this
point right, he might end up getting a job that's

(21:25):
a lot better than a Kentucky job would be. Everybody,
everybody points to him. I think it makes a lot
of sense, Drew. I think there's a good chance that
if the season goes poorly, he's the favorite. If the
season were to go well and then Stoops leaves, we've
talked about, I think Brad White could be the replacement.
But I mean, I know the fans. There's this large

(21:46):
segment of fans that would want John Somemroll.

Speaker 5 (21:49):
Absolutely, there are people out there dying for him now.
I mean you could have a scenario where you have
a former player and Mark Pope leading basketball, and a
former player in John Summerl leading football, both young up
and coming coaches in their sport. And somehow I just
got that attitude that fits to Kentucky brand. He doesn't
mind being an underdog. I think he would fully embrace

(22:10):
that role here And that's why so many people want him,
the fact that, I mean, he's already been amazing at
too Lean.

Speaker 4 (22:15):
Do you know him? Like, are you is that someone
you know from your old days of being here?

Speaker 10 (22:20):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (22:20):
I covered him when he played here. I mean I
know him just from that aspect. And of course you know,
he was on the staff here for a little bit,
so he's been around.

Speaker 4 (22:28):
But he know who you are? Like are you all like?
Because I don't know that I've ever really had a
conversation with.

Speaker 2 (22:33):
Him, Like I say, it was twenty years ago when
he played here, but uh, you know, he was a
linebacker started for the Kentucky Wildcats, So you know, I
know him, but he don't know if he never remember
me or not.

Speaker 5 (22:45):
He likes my tweets, so I feel like we're best friends.
I feel like that's a that's a connection.

Speaker 4 (22:49):
He likes you tweets.

Speaker 5 (22:50):
Yeah, I feel like that we're basically boys at that point.

Speaker 4 (22:53):
Okay, well that's good. He follows stuff. I mean, he's
written me a couple times over the years, just like messages.
But I I I don't know him at all because
I just don't know what it's I'm wondering just on
a personality standpoint, because I don't really know. Uh yeah,
I don't know a lot about him in that respect. Hey, pep.
Nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven. We will

(23:15):
take a break, Uh take your calls. We want to
talk about a couple other things before I head off
to different continents. Kentucky Sports Radio TJ Smith, personal injury attorney,
called TJ.

Speaker 5 (23:25):
He'll make them pay.

Speaker 3 (23:26):
Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Here's Matt Jones. So who is this cage the Elephant?
This is the band.

Speaker 4 (23:35):
It's a Kentucky group. Right, that's right, yep, all right
a pep nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven.
Uh text machine seven seven two seven four five two
five for us tomorrow, these guys will be at Clark's
Pumping Shop with UK volleyball players. Two of them, you said, Ryan.

Speaker 2 (23:49):
Yeah, we've got two of them, Brooklyn Delay and Molly Tazzo.
Is that every pronounce her last name?

Speaker 4 (23:55):
You're gonna have to get her name right between now
and tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (23:57):
Yeah, they got beat last night.

Speaker 4 (23:59):
They can't get beat last night, but by Penn State
had quite a run here of playing in big games.
But they did lose last night.

Speaker 2 (24:08):
Yeah, there's still a lot of excitement. They got a
big home weekend, I think this weekend, so they're gonna
come out and talk to us and rump up some
support for the weekend games.

Speaker 4 (24:16):
And then so then next Saturday UK game. The game
is at seven thirty. The pregame show will start at
three point thirty from kspar We will be open all day.
You can go see the guys. They'll be there with
Adam Luggett. They'll be doing the pregame show. Come say
hi to them. Watch the game there. What kind of
crowd are we expecting at the game Saturday, Drew, give

(24:39):
me percentage the stadium will be full?

Speaker 8 (24:42):
Oh?

Speaker 5 (24:42):
Full stadium? Yikes?

Speaker 4 (24:46):
You want the.

Speaker 5 (24:48):
Percentage chance we can fill it or just how full
I think it'll get, because I'm gonna say filling it
sixty eight point seven percent.

Speaker 4 (24:58):
Sixty eight point seven percent full.

Speaker 5 (25:00):
Yeah, even Old miss had huge. The corners across from
me were completely empty for a top ten opponent. A
little disappointing there, even though the atmosphere was a little
better from the week before. I just don't know that
they're going to go into the game for Eastern Michigan,
but I think the tailgating scene will be good, and.

Speaker 4 (25:16):
They have all day. It's weather supposed to be good.
If it is, I mean, that's a Saturday night in September.
That's a pretty good, uh, pretty good atmosphere.

Speaker 5 (25:27):
It's actually supposed to get hot again.

Speaker 4 (25:29):
Yeah, BIG's supposed to be Georgia Tennessee this Saturday. Tennessee
hasn't beaten Georgia since two thy seventeen. They are at
home with college game day with a quarterback that's new.
Are the balls gonna finally get off the schnod?

Speaker 2 (25:46):
No, that's my uh prediction that no will. I know
nothing about this guy. What he transferred from USC or UCLA? Right,
they're starting quarterback now Lake Layaway.

Speaker 4 (25:58):
George's got gunner Stockton, Tennessee. Tennessee's got agular is their quarterback.

Speaker 2 (26:04):
He just transferred from like West Coast USC or u
C l A or something. Is that right, because that's
where they like to change quarterbacks, didn't they.

Speaker 4 (26:12):
You're you're prepared for this game? Right?

Speaker 2 (26:15):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (26:15):
It sounds like I probably I'm picking Georgia for that one. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (26:19):
I don't know any of those people he was mentioning.

Speaker 4 (26:21):
Yeah, I don't think most of those people. I don't
think Shannon are real people that he in his in
his predictions.

Speaker 3 (26:27):
He came from State, right.

Speaker 4 (26:29):
I think, yeah, I think he did. I think you're
right at Blachi and State. I think tennessee has a
chance to finally get one on Georgia. This is not
quite the Georgia team that they've had, uh in some
other years. Who's next?

Speaker 3 (26:40):
Let's go to Jay Rock.

Speaker 4 (26:42):
Jay Rock. By the way, I'll also be watching Old
Miss Arkansas. Old Miss hosting Arkansas. We might get a
sense of how good Old Miss is or isn't in
that game. Jay Rock, go ahead?

Speaker 10 (26:54):
Hey, Hi, can you hear me?

Speaker 7 (26:59):
Hey?

Speaker 12 (26:59):
I don't know.

Speaker 10 (27:00):
Everything goes so slow on this call, but I just
wanted to call man and apologize for my language on
your tweet yesterday. You made a nice tweet and these
dummies try to take over.

Speaker 4 (27:11):
Well, I appreciate it. There were, uh, there were a
lot of dummies, but again, look at how many people
liked it, how many people sent nice comments. And don't
let a handful of dummies, uh take away your faith
in humanity, or at least that's what I try to right.

Speaker 10 (27:27):
You know, Jack called them after my homie Matthew. I
hope everybody's feeling good, but.

Speaker 4 (27:32):
Hullo you go. I appreciate the call, Jay Rock. Jay
Rock was taking up for me yesterday. I appreciated that.
Who's next, Seth, Seth, go ahead? Seth.

Speaker 8 (27:45):
Yeah, I had the Uh, I work an experience, and
so I thought I had to kind of do a
quick evaluation of Kentucky football games.

Speaker 4 (27:54):
Uh, you do that before you do that? When you
said I work in experience, what does that mean?

Speaker 8 (28:01):
Yeah, so I'll work in tourism. And the idea is
what I do now is that sort of evaluate attractions, restaurants,
hotels and help improve them so visitors will want to
come in.

Speaker 4 (28:12):
Gotcha? Okay, So what is your read on the UK
football stadium?

Speaker 8 (28:16):
Then did a certification this year in a book called
the Experience Economy, and I'll give you the five stages
of an experience and we can if you want to
go through them. First one is enticing. I'd say they
failed pretty hard considering that they didn't give the fans
any information about the team. They didn't entice them to

(28:37):
come to the games. We didn't know anything about them,
We didn't build any relationships, so it kind of failed.
Next would be entering. So it's never fun entering a
big college stadium, but Commonwealth is no different. Entering the
stadium is not what I would call a pleasant experience,
just because it's so hard to get in and get parked,
and I'd say that also goes second for all the

(29:00):
movement with the tailgaters the past couple of years.

Speaker 4 (29:03):
Okay, that's interesting. I like that, enticement, entering. I agree
with you. It is hard to go to those games,
especially more now because of parking, et cetera. Some of
that there's not a lot they can do about. Some
of that they've changed and kind of made actively worse.
But okay, what's the third one?

Speaker 8 (29:21):
Yep, this is the this is the easy.

Speaker 4 (29:23):
Uh.

Speaker 8 (29:23):
Sadly we have to give it an f it's engaging
so that the end game experience is poor, from Wi
Fi to music selection to the play on the field.
They got to be honest. You can even say that
Stoops runs a boring type of offense. It's not engaging
to the fans. Spending money fair enough, I like it.

Speaker 4 (29:44):
What's the fourth one?

Speaker 8 (29:46):
And if you enter you have to exit an exiting
Commonwealth stadium?

Speaker 4 (29:51):
Is not fun?

Speaker 8 (29:52):
Only is it?

Speaker 12 (29:54):
Oh, it's brutal.

Speaker 8 (29:55):
And then add that, so you know things aren't as
brutal after a win, but they are much more brutal
after a loss. And finally, exactly and finally extending, I mean,
you know they don't really do anything to bring you back.
So you could go all the way down to the

(30:16):
play on the field, coaching and stuff, new coaching.

Speaker 4 (30:18):
New whatever.

Speaker 8 (30:18):
That's one thing, But then there is you know, I
think they're going to really struggle this weekend with Eastern
Michigan and in extending people to come back. Are there
any ticket deals? Are there any specials? Where are people
getting value to come see this team play Saturday night?
And I don't think they're You.

Speaker 4 (30:37):
Got enticing, entrants, engaging, exiting and extending a lot of ease.

Speaker 8 (30:46):
That makes it easy to remember.

Speaker 4 (30:48):
Well, I appreciate the call. That all makes complete sense
to me. Ryan, I mean, those are it seems like
they're kind of common sense things. But I also like
how they're sort of put up like that, And I
do Kentucky does a poor job at all of those
and they all kind of they all kind of fit
in into trying to make people want to be at
the game.

Speaker 2 (31:07):
He laid out the thought process that we've had for
years about what they can do and can't do over
there at Kroger Field.

Speaker 4 (31:13):
Did would you hire a company like that Shandon to
do work for.

Speaker 3 (31:17):
S seem like he had to figure it out to
me exactly.

Speaker 4 (31:19):
I think you they got it. They got to look
into something like that.

Speaker 3 (31:22):
One pitch anyone. I think most of us over and
over there you go.

Speaker 4 (31:26):
I think it was. I think it was because they
were all eased. I like alliteration, Drew, I always have.
I kind of like when you have like a bam,
a bam a bam.

Speaker 5 (31:35):
Yeah. And as you all mentioned, I hope UK is
actually looking into this on their own. We have professionals
calling in, we have people that go to the games
with suggestions, but the people that are actually making decisions,
I hope they're taking this seriously.

Speaker 4 (31:46):
They have to do that.

Speaker 1 (31:47):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (31:48):
Jadon Quainton's Apparently Drew has put on, according to UK,
forty pounds since he arrived in Lexington. That's a massive
amount of Wait, Malachai Moreno has put on twenty, Cam
Williams fifteen and Jaydeon Hawthorne fifteen. Yeah, well excuse me,

(32:09):
what's the Hawthorns kids? First name? I'm sorry Braden Braidon,
I said, Jade. That is a total of what ninety
pounds added just by those four guys, Drew, what do
you make of that? Getting them all strong or good eating?
What do you think it is.

Speaker 5 (32:28):
With Quainten's You might want to get that checked out.
I don't know that forty pounds in two months is
a positive. I think they might have cooked the books
a little too much on Quaintance's weight gain that I'm
not an expert, but forty pounds over the course of
the summer seems like a whole lot. But the freshman,
especially including him, I'm glad they are gaining some weight.
The numbers I don't know that I completely believe, but

(32:50):
we need that strength program going well. A guy like
Hawthorn's tiny, that's the big knock on him, so he especially,
I'm glad they're bulking up. But forty I don't know
about You.

Speaker 4 (32:59):
Want forty pounds of muscle.

Speaker 3 (33:02):
And no, I don't think I could put on forty
pounds of fat in two months if I wanted to.
If I just set around an eight skyline chili and
sugar cookies all day every day, I could.

Speaker 4 (33:12):
Think about that. If you can all day hals chili
and sugar cookies.

Speaker 3 (33:19):
Like, I don't think I would gain I would gain
some weight, but forty and two months and a lot
of stretch.

Speaker 4 (33:25):
But then you're lifting weights. Maybe what creatine? Is that
what people take? Yeah? Yeah, pee, what's what's the whole hormones?
The pe c pete. No, it's not PCP.

Speaker 5 (33:37):
I hope he's not taking piece.

Speaker 2 (33:38):
Of Maybe he just he's got to get them under control.

Speaker 3 (33:43):
You know, I'm not talking about not THC, not PC,
not CBD.

Speaker 4 (33:49):
What's Maybe he just know that you take when your
people take, when they lift whit's the human growth hormone,
the hg H. There you go, there you go, LSD,
they're all LSD.

Speaker 2 (34:02):
Maybe just a big fan of the dollar wings and
wings day at ks bar. Maybe just gets those.

Speaker 3 (34:06):
B SC, LSD and THH slim nets player threw a
no hitter on LSD back in the day.

Speaker 4 (34:13):
Yeah, who who is that? What was his name, right,
doc Ellis?

Speaker 3 (34:17):
Doc Ellis threw a no hitter on LSD The Pirates.
Yeah it was the Pirates.

Speaker 4 (34:21):
Okay, yeah, is that true?

Speaker 2 (34:23):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (34:24):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (34:24):
He admitted years later that he was high as a
kit because he didn't think he's gonna have to pitch
this day.

Speaker 3 (34:29):
He thought he started starting pitcher. He thought he was
off that day. His girlfriend or wife, whoever it was,
woke up and saw the paper and says, Hey, they're
listening to you as the starting pitcher. You need to
get to the stadium now, after he had just dropped
LSD and he pitched a no hitter. Look it up
on YouTube while you're waiting for your flight today. I

(34:51):
mean it's there's a fascinating video out there.

Speaker 4 (34:53):
Yeah, all right, well that's cool. My flight's tomorrow, but
I will h three. I'll read about that tomorrow. Tucky
Chamber is working on important issues Kentuckians are facing. They're
tackling significant challenges like childcare access, berriers to work, and
housing availability. By championing solutions, they're strengthening communities and helping
Kentucky families thrive. If you want to learn more, go
to k Why Chamber dot com. Their work supports a

(35:15):
future where business and communities across the state go to
crow together. Go to Kentucky Chambert dot com. That's Ky
Chamber dot com. Today, we'll take a break and come back.
Final segments. KSR. Drew's excited to see tonight. Right, it's
my guy.

Speaker 5 (35:30):
I don't know what this is called, but I'm ready
to see it.

Speaker 2 (35:36):
Front flip.

Speaker 5 (35:37):
I don't even like listen to it in my free time.
I just I saw the grammy. I want to see
it again. That's all. He doesn't flip over there, there
will be problems at Bourbon Beyond. If I drive to
Louisville and I don't get the Benson Boone.

Speaker 4 (35:51):
Flipp says he do it all the time.

Speaker 5 (35:54):
Do you know, I don't know anything about him. I'm
just assuming that he flips. So I'm going for the
flip and illuminators.

Speaker 4 (36:01):
Wow. Well, if he doesn't flip, you might be very
very sad. I don't know if he's going to.

Speaker 3 (36:05):
Does he always wear the Freddie Mercury jumpsuit?

Speaker 4 (36:08):
He better he should.

Speaker 3 (36:10):
What does that thing like a a? What do you
call that?

Speaker 4 (36:13):
It's a it's like an Elvis jumps It's like a.

Speaker 3 (36:15):
Body suit or something. I don't know. Well, I don't
eve think it's that. It's like a tight body suit.

Speaker 4 (36:21):
Yeah, I think that's what it's called. If I'm nine
two eight zero twenty two eighty seven, the text machine
is seven seven two seven seven four five two five
four Uh, Kentucky. So tonight you got to wash the
commanders and the Green Bay Packers. You go to DraftKings
bet five get two hundred dollars. We'll have it at
the bar tonight with two dollars bud lights and three

(36:41):
dollars mixed drinks. I think that's pretty crazy, crazy, crazy
good and it's a good game for the NFC. Shannon,
it's your team. I'll let you pick fires. So you
got tonight, Jill, Pack go.

Speaker 3 (36:51):
They are a three and a half point favorite. I'm
taking the Packers and the.

Speaker 4 (36:54):
Points, Packers into points, all right? What about you? Ryan?

Speaker 2 (36:58):
After the Packers broke Shannon's he art last week on
his parlay, read the former team forming norms, the Redskins
Commanders come in and break your heart again the night Shannon.

Speaker 3 (37:07):
Not gonna happen. That's okay, all right, Drew.

Speaker 4 (37:09):
Why Waite? Why did the why did the pack didn't
the Packers win? Why did it break your heart? On
the park?

Speaker 3 (37:14):
All because I had like a six leg parlay and
all I need it was Jordan Love two hundred yards
or more. He had one hundred and sixty seven at
halftime and only three for twenty yards in the second
half because they ran the ball.

Speaker 4 (37:24):
Yeah, but they won. I mean they look great in
that game, yeah one and played excellent. Who's next? Good
ahead and Drew.

Speaker 5 (37:30):
Who's next? I'm next, Packers win. I think we're in
for a close game. Three and a half's too many points,
but Packers win.

Speaker 4 (37:38):
Yeah. Thursday Night h Thursday Night football tends to to
lean towards the home team because they haven't had the
other team hasn't had much rest and has to travel.
So I'm gonna take the Packers certainly to win, and
I'll be like Shannon, I think they'll cover as well.
Give me the Packers. Who's up next, Tyler? Tyler? Go ahead?

Speaker 6 (37:56):
Tyler Hi first time caller. I wanted to make a
comment about Jaden Quainton. I saw his video that they
put out earlier this week. I guess it was of
him jumping a little bit as a physical therapist. I
know that we're going to get four weeks down the

(38:17):
road and there's going to be a bunch of people
upset that he's not playing, So I just wanted to
throw this out there that he still has several things
he has to get through before he's playing in a
college basketball game.

Speaker 4 (38:31):
What do you mean.

Speaker 6 (38:34):
He so he was jumping off two legs landing on
two legs, So he's got to be able to one
control his knee because the knee was still caving in,
which is how you tear your acl to begin with.
So he has to keep working on that. He's got
to be able to go side to side. He has
to be able to jump off one foot land on

(38:54):
that foot. Then he has to be able to do
it while getting bumped in the air and not knowing
what his landing situation is going to be.

Speaker 4 (39:06):
You do this work? Yeah, Okay, Well, I mean, like,
but you don't. Just because that video you didn't see
him do it doesn't mean he's not doing it, right.
I mean, just because it wasn't in that video doesn't
mean that he's not doing those things.

Speaker 6 (39:23):
That's true, But there's a protocol that you follow. And
I'm just saying a lot of people went in there
for the Louisville game, and that's very ambitious.

Speaker 10 (39:36):
Yeah, I get mad in a few weeks.

Speaker 4 (39:41):
Yeah, I've heard on the personal level, and I appreciate
the call Drew that they're they're targeting uh January as
the hope. I don't know if that'll be when it is,
but that's the that's the target. We'll see if that
ends up happening. I don't think anybody necessarily thinks he's
going to be playing in November, at least that I
I have heard, have you no?

Speaker 5 (40:02):
And uh, people got a little freaked out because a
few days ago Pope made some comments I think maybe
the Rothsteine or somebody that said quaintance is nowhere close
to contact, which sounds a little scary. But that's also
the timeline they've known from the beginning. So there's a
little bit of overreaction to hearing he's not close to contact.
But they could have told you that month ago he
wouldn't be contacted. Now everything's still on plan. It's just

(40:23):
he's I think Pope said right now the next three
weeks with him or a lot of just strength training,
and he's still far away from actual basketball.

Speaker 4 (40:31):
Yeah, I think that's Uh. I would say think about
January and base your starting time on that. Who's next junior?
Go ahead?

Speaker 12 (40:42):
Yeah, I want to circle back to yesterday's conversation about
Calzada and Bowley and the money we spent, uh what
I'm sure in Bowley's mind.

Speaker 10 (40:55):
He thought he was ready to be the guy.

Speaker 12 (40:58):
The bigger question going forward, what's to say to Stone,
Saunders and Matt Ponatowski if.

Speaker 4 (41:06):
Well they have to get I'll signed up. I mean,
guys don't sign it with the very rare exception. You
know there might be one or two guys a year
true freshman out of high school. Don't sign expecting to
start right away. And if you start true freshmen out
of high school right away, chances are you ain't gonna
be very good. So I mean that Stone Saunders, those

(41:28):
guys can't expect to come in and start year one.
That doesn't happen.

Speaker 12 (41:32):
I agree with you on you can't expect to start
right out of high school, but you should think if
I'm Stone Saunders that hey, I'm gonna be quarterback three,
then I'm gonna be quarterback two, and then I'm going
to be the.

Speaker 4 (41:44):
Guy they think that. Why can't they think that?

Speaker 12 (41:49):
Because Stone Saunders went from should have been two to
back to three because we brought in Calvada.

Speaker 4 (41:57):
Yeah, well but maybe he wasn't ready. I mean, like
you don't. The thing is you don't see any of
these these guys practice. I mean, I I think that's
that That's part of it. I'll say this, great programs
across the country. They bring in a quarterback every year,
most of them, so why would ours be expected to
be different.

Speaker 12 (42:19):
One last point is my hot take. Matt Polotowski will
not play it down for March stops.

Speaker 4 (42:25):
May be gone. Well, I appreciate its call. He's not
even here yet, so let's not have him transferring just yet. Guys,
thank you all very much. I see you October. First,
enjoy the show, Come visit the bar. Let's get some
wins while I'm gone. Go cats. See you after South Africa.
