Speaker 3 (00:58):
Welcome to our two of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by
Stockton Mortgage. Now here's Matt Jones.

Speaker 4 (01:05):
All right, welcome back.

Speaker 2 (01:06):
It is our number two Kentucky Sports Radio, Ryan Drew
and Shannon. We had a lot of gloom and doom
talking about UK football the first hour, so let's talk
about some positive things this hour.

Speaker 5 (01:14):
Let's get back on the positive train.

Speaker 4 (01:15):
Drew, there are a lot of fun topics.

Speaker 2 (01:17):
From a lot of fun topics, and the first one
is you just heard Matt Jones is not here, but
he'll be here on Friday. Our remote is that Shady
Rays in Louisville. That'll be Matt's big return. So come
on out. It's always a good show when we come
to the Shady Rays there at Oxmoor Mall. Matthew's mall
always forget the mall's confused.

Speaker 4 (01:35):
I'll have to double check that too because I also
get them backwards.

Speaker 2 (01:37):
Yeah, but that'll be Friday in Louisville's Shady Rays, Matt's
big return to Kentucky and KSR. Speaking of Matt, his
Cincinnati Reds somehow are in the playoffs. The Summer of
Elle turned into the Fall of La has now turned
into playoff LLI. They lose yesterday, but the Mets also

(01:58):
lost yesterday, So the Mets helped the Grids get in
the playoffs because they could not beat the Florida Marlins.
The Reds play the Dodgers tomorrow night, Wednesday night. It's
the best of three, Shannon. So if there's a game
three and be Thursday night, and I can't believe we're
talking about the Reds in the.

Speaker 3 (02:15):
Playoffs and Matt's not gonna be here to see any
of it. That's the worst part about it. You know,
he was talking about the summer of La and Reds.
You know, he gave up on him. I felt like
before he left for South Africa. Now they're in, but
they're gonna be out of the playoffs before he could
even return. So think about that, while Matt's been gone,
they're gonna make the playoffs and be out of the
playoffs before Matt can get back on the radio.

Speaker 4 (02:34):
Friday yesterday, it was about one am in South Africa.
Matt's in Kruger National Park in a tent. Now, I'm
sure it was like glamping. I'm sure it's a nice tint.
I don't think Matt went out there and put a
tent up. But we're doing Cover zero and he's whispering
through Cover zero because there's other tents around him and

(02:55):
they're literally in the middle of Kruger National Park. But
I'm on, I'm doing the show with Matt. You know,
We're got a little video I can see talking to
him as the Reds made it. I think part of
that will be in the podcast, but I can tell
you he probably woke up some lions, some zebras, and
some fellow tourists. But that was his scenario when he
learned that the Reds had clinched yesterday. It's about four

(03:16):
or five o'clock here, I'd say maybe a little later,
middle of the night for him. But I got to
witness his live reaction as we did Cover zero, and
he is very fired up, as you can imagine.

Speaker 2 (03:25):
Well, we all know he left the country last year
and the UK baseball team went to the College Baseball
World Series. He leaves the country this year and the
Cincinnati Reds are in the Major League Baseball Playoffs for
the first time that well, they were in twenty twenty
the COVID season, but back for the first time winning
into the right, rightful way to get in since twenty thirteen,
I think.

Speaker 4 (03:43):
Had been won a series since nineteen ninety five and
min that's a long time since I want to playoff series.
If you're a Reds fan, Matt did give me an assignment.
He wanted me to pass along a message. Okay, obviously
we're gonna do the ks Bar special to talk about it. Yeah,
you have the exact details though from Oniq.

Speaker 2 (03:58):
And so the games, the Dodgers Reds game start at
nine o'clock Tomorrow night and Wednesday night, so we can't
have a watch party. So we're gonna have game day
specials throughout the day all day here Tomorrow and Wednesday.
So where do the Reds play, Drew, what's the name
of their ballpark? Great American, Great American Pop Park. What
do we have on our menu?

Speaker 4 (04:17):
Great American Burger, The Great American Burger, sixty year Old
John Short.

Speaker 2 (04:20):
Name for sixty year old John Short is going to
be reduced price, Great American Burger all day tomorrow and
Wednesday and Thursday if there was a Thursday. So it's
a game day special. But there's more, Drew. If you
come into this Chas Bar and you're wearing Cincinnati Red's gear,
a hat, a shirt, what you're.

Speaker 4 (04:38):
Doing right now? What's gonna call you out on that?

Speaker 2 (04:41):
I have a Lemon Reds jersey that my son wore
when he was twelve years old, and it fits me.

Speaker 4 (04:47):
I was gonna ask you what size it was, and
I you're telling me you're wearing your twelve year old
son's baseball.

Speaker 2 (04:52):
This is about ten years old when he was twelve
or played for the Reds. Got his name on the back.
So I brought it out today because you can wear
your Reds gear, shirt, hat, hoodie pants, you get a
free side of fries. Now you can't just come in
and get a free sat of fries. You gotta order something,
so free satur fries when you order something if you

(05:13):
wear Reds gear, so you can come in get a
great American burger, wear your red shirt, you get a
discount the burger, and you get a free free saturfries.

Speaker 4 (05:19):
Well, Matt wanted me to tell you that if it
gets to Thursday, even though it's nine o'clock, that we're
all meeting here, and I guess he lands Thursday afternoon
and it is gonna come straight here to watch the Reds.
So you know, one game at a time. So if
they I think Matt is gonna land from South Africa
in Louisville Lexton, Cincinnati, wherever it is. But it's gonna

(05:41):
come straight to KOs Barr because he has missed the
enthusiasm of the Reds playoff push and he wants to
be a part of it. So maybe we will be
watching partying Thursday night as he gets here, and that'll
be your first time seeing him. I've gotten to check
out with him twice a week since he's been gone.
But you'll get to you get to hang with Matt
if it's a game.

Speaker 2 (05:56):
Three, Shannon, I saw the Dodgers are five and one
over the Reds during the course this past season, though.

Speaker 3 (06:01):
Yep, but it's a new season, so anything can happen.
But I don't know. I don't think the Reds have
much of a chance. We'll see what happens. Meanwhile, if
you're a Mets fan, Ryan, did you realize that August first,
the Mets had a ninety five percent chance of making
the postseason and completely crumbled? So can you imagine being
a Mets fan today after not making the playoffs and

(06:22):
they were leading the NL East for a while and
stay were earlier in the season and then don't make
the play.

Speaker 2 (06:27):
They were a lock, they were a lock, and they
just fell apart and said August and September, and then.

Speaker 3 (06:31):
The other part, I mean not to get away from
the Reds talk, but the other part of this is
the fact that the Guardians were down fifteen and a
half games to the Tigers at one point in the season.
They came back and won the division, and now they
play each other in the first round. On the AO side,
there we go. Yeah, I just.

Speaker 4 (06:47):
Think back to that West Coast swing where Matt's like, oh,
it's over, take my tickets. La stinks, they all stink.
So and So lives by River, and then a month
later he's trying to hurry back to watch them. The
lesson and being in patient, being patient and believing in
your team.

Speaker 5 (07:04):
Well, so, Kentucky football fans, can they take note of this?

Speaker 4 (07:06):
No?

Speaker 3 (07:07):
Absolutely not sixty two games.

Speaker 2 (07:10):
Geez right, don't get crazy, So look says, this is
the segment of good news. Matt's coming back. Can weed
at the show on Friday, Regie the playoffs. We've got
a great American burger on special all day game Day.
The other good news the KSR Parlay hit for the
second time this season. Let's go KSR Parlay. So out
of the first five weeks of the season, we hit

(07:31):
for the second time, which means if you played it.

Speaker 4 (07:33):
I'm counting four since I wasn't here last week, so
I'm saying four two out of four. You all, what
you did last week was that was you went rogue.

Speaker 2 (07:38):
I understand, completely understand. But if you played both of them,
you're pretty much covered for the rest of the season.

Speaker 4 (07:44):
One of them was plus seven to fifty the first
one that's a huge hit, and this weekend was plus
four to fifty. However, some people double dipped. If you
listen to Friday's show, where' tomorrow you back there? Mario?
We love you. But on Friday Show, we were having
a hard time getting to pick the fit the format.
Remember we were trying to pick winners. You were going
to a little Oregon State plus fourteen and a half.

(08:06):
We let you do it anyway, but then we learned
it's Friday night, which didn't fit the parlay. Give people
time to bet it. But people who listen live bet
both versions of the Mario parlay. They did the Kansas
State that we eventually got to, and they also bet
the Oregon State and that one hit two. So Mario,
you could have double dipped on the Mario version of
the KSTAR Parlay. Unbelievable picking by you, Mario. We all

(08:28):
heard the analysis that went into it. Incredible.

Speaker 6 (08:30):
Oh no of that analysis, none at all. I'm just
going with my gut. What worked some one outright don't
know much about.

Speaker 2 (08:40):
When he picked Oregon State, we all kind of like,
come on, man, what are you doing? Then we're trying
to win this thing here. We kind of downplayed it,
and they would have won the bet they.

Speaker 4 (08:47):
Were up in the fourth quarter is fourteen and a
half point underdogs.

Speaker 6 (08:50):
Ye'all know, I don't know anything about college football, barely
watch it.

Speaker 4 (08:54):
I just went with my gut. Well, so I think
what he meant to say is heck, yeah, two and
zero onto next week.

Speaker 2 (09:00):
Ks R parlay. Will Matt'll be back to be in
the parly this week, So I need the.

Speaker 4 (09:04):
Hot hand over here, though Matt might have to earn
his way back in.

Speaker 2 (09:07):
We'll let you be our Kentucky are Sin Santy Red's
KSR parley pick picker?

Speaker 5 (09:12):
All right, get us a reds parlay.

Speaker 4 (09:14):
I'm down all right.

Speaker 2 (09:16):
Eight five nine two eighth two two eight seven. That's
the cars pumpy shop phone. Then we'll go to the
phone lines a vision glass taps. I got a bunch
of texts when Dusty was on. Most of them are
not positive. This is a positive segment.

Speaker 4 (09:25):
It is hard to be positive.

Speaker 5 (09:26):
It is hard to be positive. So let's talk about
a couple other things.

Speaker 2 (09:29):
Ryder Cup, I actually watched the end of the rod
positive well, the Kentucky United States made a big run.
They all of a sudden they were dead in the water,
and all of a sudden people were throwing beers in
the air and Justin Thomas is throwing his putter everywhere
and ended up being exciting finish for a little while.

Speaker 4 (09:45):
I'm proud that you watched it.

Speaker 5 (09:47):
You know.

Speaker 4 (09:47):
It was that last Thursday. I was trying to teach
you and Shannon like golf, if only for one weekend.
So you got into it a little bit.

Speaker 2 (09:53):
I did, even though we were getting smoked, had the
split screen on, had an NFL game on one and
then but I got into it because they make United
States made the big comeback. Who was the dude they
hit the big putt before Justin Thomas hit his putt.

Speaker 4 (10:05):
I'll be honest, I didn't believe in the team. I
was watching football yesterday. I saw Thomas's butt. Yeah, Bryson
came back from down big.

Speaker 5 (10:11):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (10:11):
Yeah, Henley could have kept us alive. He blew a
lead late. I don't know the exact put you're talking.
I know they were coming back and people were texting
me like, oh, here come the Americans. They were just
down so bad that I didn't have a lot of faith,
even though I guess mathematically it could have happened. Never
really felt like they could do it. But to their credit,
they made.

Speaker 5 (10:28):
It entertaining, made it very entertain.

Speaker 4 (10:30):
Embarrassing weekend, but I had a red Zone Titans multiview
going on. By the way, just red zone with another
game at the same time is enough. That's enough of
a headache. But I had the Ryder Cup over to
the side. I was trying to keep up, but just
didn't have faith. So we embarrassed ourselves as a country.

Speaker 5 (10:49):
You said that, can we talk about Yeah, please tell
us those stories you heard.

Speaker 4 (10:52):
I love the Ryder Cup because we yell and we taunt,
and the players get into it and they taunt back.
I feel like we were a little, well much over
the top. Yeah, like somebody threw a drink and hit
Rory's wife in the head. They were yelling things you
shouldn't yell. Rory even backed off his ball one time
and yelled, will y'all shut the bleep up? Like I
get USA, USA, and the roars. Well, we we didn't

(11:15):
carry ourselves very appropriately up there up there in New
York for the weekend, so we got not only did
we get our butt whooped, we also I think the
fans embarrassed ourselves a little bit.

Speaker 2 (11:23):
Well, that what Shannon wants on the golf course. He
wants that kind of crazy wrestler mentality.

Speaker 3 (11:28):
Yeah, But honestly I didn't watch any of it, so I.

Speaker 4 (11:32):
Yeah, you would agree. We can't throw drinks and hit
people's wives and you.

Speaker 3 (11:36):
Can't be doing that, as uncle would say.

Speaker 4 (11:39):
Also on that note, to go back to the game,
seth McGowan, can we bring up just hitting Lenora's Seller's
grandfather with the football. Of all the people, we're gonna
hit the elderly grandpa.

Speaker 2 (11:49):
Threw a fastball as hard as he could, and I
guess he was trying to hit the wall.

Speaker 4 (11:53):
Yeah, and he issued a quick apology.

Speaker 2 (11:55):
He did went a little a little little high and
hit Lenora Seller's grandfather.

Speaker 5 (11:58):
Right in the right chest of all people.

Speaker 4 (12:01):
And he felt terrible about it. He put out the
immedia apology. There's also a DM where he replied to
someone and he's admitting that he just feels awful that
he did it. But I mean, things kind of went
downhill from there. Thousand people in that stadium and we had.

Speaker 5 (12:14):
The Leonora Seller's grandpa in the end zone.

Speaker 4 (12:16):
So not the best behavior all the way around.

Speaker 2 (12:19):
That started the downfall there on, and that just kind
of went They didn't score another touchdown the rest of
the game. I couldn't believe that they couldn't find the
end zone.

Speaker 4 (12:26):
We had Mark Stoop's trip over a chain.

Speaker 5 (12:29):
That's true, Yeah, he fell down.

Speaker 4 (12:31):
I didn't even see the first drive because I couldn't
get flipped over. I was trying to log into the app,
and at one point, if anyone else was watching the
ESPN app, it switched from Kentucky South Carolina to professional
pillow for.

Speaker 5 (12:42):
He did professional pilofight.

Speaker 4 (12:44):
I'm losing my mind, rup seven oer and I'm trying
to get my TV changed and I'm watching professionals.

Speaker 5 (12:49):
Even though they had professional pillow fighting.

Speaker 4 (12:51):
In that moment I found out I thought it was
a commercial.

Speaker 2 (12:53):
I thought it was like some spoof commercial for some product,
and no, that's real.

Speaker 5 (12:57):
They have professional pillow fighting.

Speaker 4 (12:58):
I thought it went to a commercial because you know,
I'm on my computer. We have a lot to do
during games. And it switched and I thought it was
an infomercial, and I'm at home and Abby's like, are
we just going to continue to watch professional covie? I
didn't even realize that the stuted automatic. There was a
lot of chaotic things around the beat down too.

Speaker 2 (13:13):
Because the the Tennessee Mississippi State game went into overtime
when it went late, so that's what kind of covered
up the first drive for Kentucky had. I mean, Mississippi
State people thought they were the worst team in the SEC.
They they should have beat Tennessee. So now I leave
frog Kentucky. I believe Kentucky now undisputed. I think the
worst team in the SEC.

Speaker 4 (13:31):
Now one more fun viral stuff from the game. Tom
Hart was just I couldn't keep up. Let's talk about
that down. I'm sorry. If that's the topic. It is
close to a break, talk about it since we were
on it. Yes, Tom, I think I counted six or seven.
I've been texting him at one point to confirm one
that I thought I heard and couldn't go back and
find I only heard three, much more than three.

Speaker 5 (13:49):
Okay. I heard him say something about being sucker punched.

Speaker 4 (13:52):
The first one I heard. He said something about pumping
shop pretty early in the game. That's the one I
had to get.

Speaker 5 (13:57):
I didn't even catch that one.

Speaker 4 (13:58):
Uh, there was sucker punched. When South Carolina went up
ten to seven, he said something like South Carolina up
three Biggins.

Speaker 5 (14:04):
Yes, I heard that.

Speaker 4 (14:06):
He said something about penguins and a safari.

Speaker 2 (14:08):
He said, you see a turt It's like seeing a
tortoise one day and then penguins the next day.

Speaker 4 (14:12):
Yeah. And then at one point, let's just say, maybe
he was taking requests. Maybe maybe maybe you got anything.

Speaker 5 (14:20):
Else, maybe somebody texting him requests.

Speaker 4 (14:22):
And I mentioned my guy Manny, who I've talked about
in last week. Anytime there's a penalty or like a
foul in basketball, he yells, you can't do that. So
at least twice after a penalty flag, both times on Kentucky. Unfortunately, Tom,
you can't do that for me. But Tom was We
were getting our butt kicked on the field. But Tom
at least kept it entertaining with the KOs rhisms.

Speaker 2 (14:43):
That's why they just need to make it a prerogative.
He needs to do every single Kentucky game, every single one.
Just let him do it because we love him doing it.
Made it, like said least were getting our butt kicked
because he made it entertaining for us at times with
his commentary.

Speaker 4 (14:55):
Anybody else listened, They all fit in. It's not like
he's going rogue and messing up the broadcast. It fits
right in. And you just you know, if you know,
you know, If you don't, you don't, Will you.

Speaker 3 (15:02):
Tell Tom next time you talk to him. I'm still
waiting for my iPad that I ordered from him off Twitter.
Still haven't gotten that yet. I'm waiting for it.

Speaker 5 (15:11):
Is he back on eggs?

Speaker 3 (15:14):
Still there?

Speaker 4 (15:15):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (15:15):
Oh my, he's been like a month now. So yeah,
we got to get Tom back on Twitter.

Speaker 2 (15:20):
All right, Well take our break, come back if you've
got something you want to talk about. The Kentucky football game,
Tom Hart, the reds Ryder Cup. We got a lot
more little topics we need to get to. This is
Katak Sports Radio. Don't go away, Welcome back k Taking

you're listening to you right now is bad Bunny Ryan,
who was announced as the Super Bowl halftime performer, or
you a Bad Bunny fan.

Speaker 2 (16:34):
I do not know anything Bad Bunny seeing, but I
know every time Matt asked a question about downloads or
iTunes or Spotify, chsbar trivia, Bad Bunny's always one of
the answers. He's always listed, so he must be extremely popular.

Speaker 5 (16:46):
Well.

Speaker 3 (16:47):
I think Taylor Swift had some interest in being the
halftime performer, but she had a few demands. The NFL
wasn't willing to play ball, so we ended up with
Bad Bunny. That was announced last night during the halftime
of the Packers Cowboys game, which you didn't stay.

Speaker 2 (17:00):
Up and watch, which I heard the final score while
I was in the shower this morning listening to the
pre show.

Speaker 5 (17:05):
I had no idea more breaking pre show news, breaking
pre show news.

Speaker 2 (17:08):
I'm in the shower, Billy and Shannon is talking about
the forty to forty tie last night, the Packers and
the Cowboys.

Speaker 5 (17:14):
They go I learned about Yeah.

Speaker 4 (17:17):
The more I learned about Ryan learning news from the
pre show, the more I think you all need an
Emmy for like best Best News Sources, not Emmy whatever
radio award is. But you are truly delivering news to
people every morning, well, at.

Speaker 2 (17:28):
Least the grocer break. During the grocer break, Shannon delivered
breaking news. He said, it's not breaking news. I said
it is breaking news. So go ahead and play at Shannon.

Speaker 3 (17:34):
Okay, if you say so, here we go.

Speaker 5 (17:38):
I just wanted to hear it. Okay, what's your breaking news, Shannon?

Speaker 3 (17:41):
Well, College Game Day is coming to Tuscaloosa for Alabama
Vanderbilt this Saturday. Can you believe that ESB and College
Game Day will be coming not just to Alabama but
for Alabama Vanderbilt. It's the first time since Vanderbilt, I guess,
the first time since nineteen thirty seven that both Vandy
and Alabama have been ranked in the top twenty five

(18:03):
while playing each other. So, uh, first, you know what.

Speaker 5 (18:06):
Happened last year?

Speaker 4 (18:07):
I liked the breaking news here.

Speaker 2 (18:09):
Yeah, you know what happened last year they played each
other in Nashville. Vandy pulled the big upset.

Speaker 4 (18:13):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (18:13):
Their fans carried the goal post out of the stadium
all the way down to the Uh was it? I
don't know what river that is?

Speaker 5 (18:18):
Help?

Speaker 3 (18:18):
They took it all the way down Broadway and dumped
the goal post into the river. So I think it's
gonna be a little bit different than Alabama, but you
never know, you never know. Vandy's been playing really well.

Speaker 2 (18:29):
Eight two eight h two two eight seven. We got
a couple of callers up, so let's get to one
of them, Shannon, who we got?

Speaker 3 (18:34):
All right, let's go to Philip.

Speaker 5 (18:36):
Philip, go ahead, Philip.

Speaker 7 (18:39):
Hey, guys, thanks for taking my call. It's just heartbreaking
witnessing this every year, watching the South Carolina outperformance. Some
of my best memories as a young man was with
my father, remember watching the Stevie Got Loose and watching
this the LSU back in the day, and just it's
heartbreaking where the football program is now, especially like so

(19:02):
my father is. He's a very sick man. He's got
advanced cancer and he made the comments the other day
he said, uh, you know, when something happens to me,
when I die, I want you to see if you
can get Mark Stoops to be one of the pall
bearers at my funeral so he can let me down
one last time. But glad, Yeah, absolutely. I wanted to

(19:25):
share that with you guys and kind of get it
all out there and appreciate y'all taking my call.

Speaker 5 (19:30):
Appreciate its phone call.

Speaker 2 (19:32):
Uh, these the conversations about Stoops and the coaching staff
and the buy out and making a change, there's it's
not gonna go away. It's something we're gonna have to
deal with, I think the rest of the season, because
I don't think they're gonna get any better as the
season gets on.

Speaker 4 (19:44):
No, and it's just it's it's stuff that we're like
seeing the same problems over and over. That's what makes
it so frustrating. I know Mitch and and Stoops tried
to call this a one year blip in the summer,
but you know, not winning a home SEC game in
a couple of years, that's that's not a one year blip.
Little things like being the most tenured coach in the
SEC and watching players trip over themselves to try to

(20:07):
get lined up a few weeks ago at home. Some
of the end of the half stuff. It's things like
it's not like you're losing on a last second field
goal and you were in it and were this close,
and oh this player didn't pan out in the portal,
just missed at that position, or oh no, this injury.
It's stuff that it's like, how are we having these
same conversations at this point.

Speaker 2 (20:24):
So Arkansas makes a move. They fire Sam Pittman and
promote our old buddy Bobby Petrino, who was all fitted corter.
Now they promote him to interim head coach here in
the middle of the year. Or do your thought about
that move Arkansas made. They went ahead and decided we're
not waiting around, We're gonna make the move right now.
And you bring like a guy that you were left
in disgrace on one other previous time in Arkansas.

Speaker 4 (20:46):
A lot of people saw that news and send it
to me and probably emailed it to Mitch, like, see
it can be done. I know that was a big
talking point when when Arkansas made that call over the weekend.
My bigger takeaway on that is on the Patrino side,
we get Bobby two point zero two point oh or
is it Bobby two point two two point two? This

(21:07):
is the second second time he's going back and done this,
which is wild. And you know, Louisville was one thing,
but now he's going back to the to the motorcycle
neck brace situation at Arkansas left in shame. I mean,
they already welcomed back he was on the staff, but
the fact that he's the head coach for a second
time at a second stop, that's that's looney Shannon.

Speaker 5 (21:27):
What are your thoughts about it?

Speaker 4 (21:28):
Is?

Speaker 2 (21:28):
You know, Arkansas's not waiting around at the end of
the year. They went ahead and make the move.

Speaker 3 (21:31):
Now, well, yeah, they had a little bit of a
different situation. I mean, Sam Pittman's buyout I think was
a little over nine million dollars, so what a fourth
of what Mark Stut's buyout is. So I think that
had a lot to do with it. But if I'm Arkansas,
I mean you just got to look and see what
happened at Louisville with Bobby Petrino didn't work out either
time really there, so it kind of feels desperate a

(21:52):
little bit. I feel like Arkansas probably could have just
played out the rest of the season and then you know,
got a better coach. But here they are with Patrino.
We'll see if it works out for him. It makes us,
you know, now, really hate Arkansas because they got Patrino
and Caliperry. So I f like on the football and basketball,
they're now the most hateable team in the SEC.

Speaker 2 (22:10):
I agree, I agree with those two guys eight five
nine two two two devins, Spider Man walking in down
here at kasbar, Girl Crutch, Who's next, Shannon?

Speaker 5 (22:19):
Well?

Speaker 3 (22:19):
The truth is up next?

Speaker 5 (22:21):
The truth? You're Indiana Hoosiers.

Speaker 4 (22:24):
Truth.

Speaker 3 (22:24):
They're still beating people egg sucking Doug.

Speaker 8 (22:27):
Well, I got, I got three, I got three. Question.
I want the other answer. The first thing we got,
Indiana got seven games? Were you already put them in
the playoffs? Then the second thing, what did y'all think
about that number three from Kentucky throwing the water bottle
hitting the quarterback grandson? He's seen it on a big,

(22:50):
big TV and went off of. And the third thing,
O b w is coming to Oraensboro Sports simber no
bim uh first And I want to make a challenge
to Goose Nate Nick coffee and Brian Limmit's I got
me a partner, Scott Kramer. Bring it all and put

(23:10):
your hair up, Brian lim.

Speaker 5 (23:13):
He wants your hair throw the hammer down.

Speaker 3 (23:16):
Yeah you don't have any hair?

Speaker 5 (23:17):
Right?

Speaker 2 (23:17):
Well, you have some, I guess, but no, I don't.
Truth trying to hit below the belt hair with that.
So hear from him, Yeah, good to hear the truth.
But I don't know if that is, go put your
on and we'll talk to you. We'll take our break,
come back. This is Kentucky Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (23:32):
T J Smith, personal injury attorney called TJ.

Speaker 4 (23:35):
He'll make them.

Speaker 3 (23:35):

(24:13):
want to give a shout out to someone?

Speaker 4 (24:14):
But I do want to give a shout out. We're
sitting here on the Ksbar patio and my guy Steven
Peak drives by. He's on his way to the Mark
Stoops press conference. Yeah, obviously, I see he's cutting corners
here in lexingnon using our parking lots to get to
the park. Didn't I try to wave at him, but
you know he was in the zone. He's got to
get over there to record this this big press conference
coming up at noon. But it reminded me we owe
hit Stephen a congratulations before he recently got married to

(24:38):
the love of his life, Jacqueline. Just a couple. Uh, someday.

Speaker 5 (24:40):
They didn't even know they were engaged.

Speaker 4 (24:42):
Yes, they were engaged. They did a small wedding in Louisville. Uh.
He did an amazing video that he put out on
private social media. It's a little private, but it's like
a love letter tour that he spent A can't imagine
how much time he put on into it. Everyone that
follows chsr on YouTube knows what a good job Steven
does with our videos. I want to congratulate him and
Jaqueline for getting married.

Speaker 5 (25:03):
Recent Well, congratulations.

Speaker 2 (25:04):
That's a good shout out to give on a day
we need some good news, something to feel good about
after the loss to South Carolina.

Speaker 4 (25:09):
He works really hard for us, including like we got
a football podcast today at two shout out. He'll be
on the back end of that, and as I said, Stoops,
that's news and its own. We'll hear from Stoops at noon.
The show will be over, but he's over there to
record that. We'll hear a little more about what he
saw on the tape and any quarterback updates.

Speaker 2 (25:25):
Eight two, eight, seven, ten and hand lines are full.
So let's get a couple of calls up. But we
got buddy.

Speaker 3 (25:30):
Let's go to Brad.

Speaker 5 (25:31):
Brad, go ahead, Brad.

Speaker 9 (25:34):
Hey, guys, I just think it's crazy that everybody blames
Stoops so much when obviously he can only do so much.
When we're not spending enough money to buy competitive athletes
against the rest of the SEC. I mean, if we're
not going to put up money, if we're not going
to pony up the money like he asked for a
few years ago, everybody dogs him for his salary, But

(25:55):
it's like, if you're not going to go buy the
players that you're now allowed by, you're not going to compete.
I mean, you had the cachet from all these other
schools for so long for how good they were traditionally,
and now they've got more money they're spending so it's
like two fold against us to win. And if we're
not going to put any money in football to get

(26:16):
those players, we're never going to compete. I mean, it's
just the way it is. And no matter who you
have coaching, it doesn't matter who it is. If they
don't have top quality players, especially at those skilled positions quarterback,
defensive line, secondary, offensive line, I mean, we're just not
going to be able to compete. And it doesn't sound

(26:36):
like the athletic department.

Speaker 10 (26:39):
Cares enough to do that.

Speaker 2 (26:41):
All right, appreciate the phone call, great point, and we're
hearing that a lot. Do they have the horses in
the stable? Can they get the horses in it'stable to
compete in the SEC?

Speaker 4 (26:51):
I mean, they can't compete with Alabama, LSU Georgia. That's
just never going to happen. But you can be better
than losing every home game for two years.

Speaker 5 (26:58):
Losing to South Carolina four years.

Speaker 4 (27:00):
Yeah, you can be much better than this. The money,
I'll hear you out. If you want to start talking
about SEC championships and winning ten games every year, I'll
absolutely meet you there. But money has nothing to do
with the problems they have right now.

Speaker 5 (27:12):
Yeah, And like.

Speaker 2 (27:13):
You enough horses to beat Vanderbilt your last two games
at home.

Speaker 4 (27:17):
And you know, Vandy has shown you can go out
and get a quarterback and change everything. Pavey has been awesome, yep,
but you know, yes, the landscape, you also have to
have a coach that can go out and find the
pavious you know, Rock Vandergriff retired last year. Zach Calzada,
his story's not written yet, but there's already been a
quarterback change. Part of that's injury, not all on him

(27:37):
before that. You know Leary, I guess he's on a
Ravens practice squad right now. But even Leary didn't really
work it.

Speaker 5 (27:44):
We got here.

Speaker 4 (27:45):
Well, You've had plenty of opportunities and different coordinators to
go out and find the program changers too at the
quarterback spot, and so far not so good there either.
Maybe Kalzada gets another shot, unlikely, who knows, Maybe cutters
the future, but we have a year after year outside
of Levis, quarterback play just hasn't been when it needs
to be to compete, and you know he's hand picking
those guys.

Speaker 5 (28:05):
Let's get another call, Shannon. Who we got Bubba Bubba,
go ahead, Bubba.

Speaker 10 (28:10):
Hey thanks for taking my call. Uh, you know, we've
been talking the same story for a bunch of years.
I think it's time to realize and call it like
it is, is that Kentucky's a basketball school. Their football program.
If if they can go six and six and get

(28:31):
into a bowl game occasionally, that's great.

Speaker 4 (28:34):
Uh.

Speaker 10 (28:34):
But I think too that, you know, Mark Stukes got
us out of a gutter. I mean, he got us
back up and did great, did a super job, you know,
got us into some decent bowl games. But I think
there's only a few guys out there, coach wise that
could sustain several years at the same place because I
and you just you just need change every so many years. Uh,

(29:01):
it's just it's not working. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (29:05):
Well, I appreciate, Bubba, Yeah, appreciate the phone call. Thank
you very much, because that brings up a point I'm
hearing a lot now. This Mark Stoops era is starting
to feel eerily familiar to what John Caller Perry had
his last couple of years here, where it just kind
of to goes Stale went south a little bit and
it was time for a change in basketball. A lot
of people are saying that same thing about football now.

Speaker 4 (29:26):
Oh, Yeah, definitely, I see it just you know media stuff.
Remember Cal before it was over, he had the summer
where it's like he wouldn't do anything, like is he
even in Lexington? Yeah, then he finally did his mandatory
press conference and he had that line real gee's moving
silence like Lasagna, the little Wayne line. But he's basically
saying I'm being quiet for a reason, not making headlines.

Speaker 5 (29:46):
I mean, the thing summer.

Speaker 4 (29:50):
And I know at one point in defend himself saying
I'm doing just as many as have done the past.
It's not the amount. It's like you're not saying anything.
You can tell you're intentionally not trying to give anything
to the media. I mean there's that there's the results
are changing. I mean it's definitely in line. I mentioned
this earlier too, though. What football will never have like
an NCAA tournament where you can be a two seed

(30:11):
and lose to fifteen and it's just obvious. I mean,
you're playing these SEC teams right, and it's there's not
gonna be a clear hard stop. We're just gonna decide,
all right, how many is too me losses in a
row in the SEC. Because there never will be the obvious.
I cannot believe we lost to that team. Unless it's
Tennessee Tech this year, that would be.

Speaker 2 (30:28):
One of that would be bad. But right now you
are you are the worst team in the SEC.

Speaker 4 (30:32):
Yes, and it's I don't think anyone is debating that.
Mississippi State might have been in the conversation and they
almost beat ten want.

Speaker 5 (30:38):
To be Tennessee. Uh eight two to eighty seven.

Speaker 2 (30:41):
Let's get another one, Shannon, who we got, Mike, Mike,
go ahead, Mike, Hey.

Speaker 11 (30:46):
Guys, thanks to take my call.

Speaker 7 (30:48):
Uh.

Speaker 11 (30:48):
Two quick questions. First off, is KSR gonna come down
to Auburn when Kentucky comes down to play?

Speaker 5 (30:57):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (30:58):
Nick Ross, Adam Lucktt, Stephen Peak, those will probably be there.
The radio show will not be there.

Speaker 11 (31:05):
Uh. Second question, our offensive coordinators flits Hand and Liam
Rich all of these, all these coaches were successful before
coming to Kentucky. The common denominator amongst all those guys
is Mark Stoops. I mean, does he put some type
of stranglehold on these guys, uh to limit what they
can do? Because it seems to happen every year they

(31:27):
hire new They.

Speaker 2 (31:30):
Appreciated that appreciated That's that was kind of a topic
the last couple of years until Hamden got here, and
it seems like Handan does have more control. We've had
people say Stoops, lets the guys call their own plays.
Whether you believe it or not. People behind the scenes
have said that he lets the guys call their own plays.

Speaker 4 (31:50):
And he's even said it this season that he doesn't
get involved. I know when they had the end of
the first half meltdown a few weeks ago, in his
postgame press conference, he was like, I was just telling
him to run anything, just get out there. But and
maybe you're not in their ear saying every play, but
you're overseeing the roster in the style of play, and
they know what they're trying to match. Like he went

(32:10):
out and loaded up on the offensive line this year.
That's a very expensive offensive line.

Speaker 5 (32:15):
Is it is very experienced, very expensive.

Speaker 4 (32:18):
Yeah, and then to get back to a run game,
So maybe you're not in the coordinator's ear, but the
coridinator knows what you're trying to do.

Speaker 2 (32:24):
Overall, before we go to a break, I gotta ask
you one other question. You know the name Shawn Alexander
Boone County High School, went to Alabama, went to the Seahawks,
MVP of the league. He announced that him and his
wife are expecting a baby. Do you know what number baby?
This is for Shawn Alexander and his wife.

Speaker 4 (32:43):
I did see this. It's in the teens? Was it fourteen? Fourteen?

Speaker 5 (32:48):
This is their fourteenth child? My goodness, he did.

Speaker 2 (32:52):
They did have one child that died I think as
an infant and some health issues. But his Shawn Alexander
and his wife are expecting their fourteenth child. I mean,
he's got an entire basketball roster.

Speaker 4 (33:06):
You're the only parents on this show What's like? And
you had, you know, three at one time running around?
How do you even corral fourteen?

Speaker 5 (33:14):
You can't?

Speaker 9 (33:15):
Like?

Speaker 5 (33:15):
How?

Speaker 4 (33:16):
What?

Speaker 9 (33:16):
What?

Speaker 5 (33:16):
I mean?

Speaker 4 (33:17):
You obviously have to play a little zone with your
wife here just to even.

Speaker 2 (33:21):
I've had some friends who have like a bunch of
kids and they separate them into groups. You got the bigs,
the middles, and the littles. Each big is assigned to
a little, so you're responsible for the changing the diapers
or feeding them or whatever, and the middles have to
take care of themselves and you're.

Speaker 4 (33:37):
On your own.

Speaker 5 (33:38):
You're on your own middles.

Speaker 4 (33:39):
Maybe you're helping one and you see chaos on the
other side of the house. You just can't help they
help to figure it out.

Speaker 3 (33:43):
Do you think, like before the like when they all
wake up, like your class you got in from.

Speaker 2 (33:49):
The make sure you're not missing one somewhere? How do
you know you take off and going on family vacation,
how you know you're not missing one? You forgot one
back in the bathroom or something.

Speaker 4 (33:56):
Kevin, uh No, he's he's I would assume doing all
right financially with his career. But I think about when
you have a family that big, just a simple dinner
through McDonald's or like, I mean, what you're spending.

Speaker 5 (34:09):
Two hundred dollars to go through McDonald's drive through? No,
and what do you have?

Speaker 4 (34:12):
Like do you just do you buy a church van
one of those big long vans people around.

Speaker 2 (34:17):
There's a family in my neighborhood. They've got probably ten
They've got a big, huge passenger van that they hauled
their kids around in.

Speaker 4 (34:24):
I can barely take care of myself. I can't imagine
having fourteen other tiny humans need to rely on them.
With congratulations to.

Speaker 5 (34:33):
A young, happy couple with their fourteenth child.

Speaker 4 (34:35):
All right, Well, Kentucky legend doesn't get talked about.

Speaker 2 (34:38):
Absolutely one of the greatest running backs of our generation.
And he played right up the road at Boone County
High School.

Speaker 4 (34:45):
He was the MVP of the NFL.

Speaker 5 (34:47):
Yes, he was.

Speaker 4 (34:47):
I just kind of could when the MVP.

Speaker 2 (34:49):
One it was it went to Alabama and was there
featured back for several years down there. So Shane bil
Kurrey couldn't get him to come to Kentucky. We'll take
our break, come back our final segment. This is Kentucky's portray.
Welcome back to thank you for your radio final segment. Ryan,
Drew and Shannon here. We're on the patio. Ks Bar
and Grille closed today, but we have our Reds watch party.

Speaker 5 (35:10):
Uh no, not a watch party. We have a game
day specials.

Speaker 2 (35:12):
The game's at nine o'clock on Tuesday night, Wednesday night,
so we can't have a watch party, but we're gonna
have Reds Game Day specials all day tomorrow all day Wednesday.
The Great American Burgers reduced price and if you come
in wearing Reds gear, you get a free side of
fries with purchase, so you can come in, get a
catfit of sandwich, you can get some wings, and you
get a free side of fries if you have a

(35:33):
Reds hat hoodie shirt on. And of course you can
just get the Great American Burger at a discount price
and get your free fries if you come in wearing something.
So a lot of Reds fans coming in. I think
the next couple of days do this.

Speaker 4 (35:44):
On Thursday, Thursday, the game three, I got a I
own a Reds hat, yeah, and a Doug Flynning T shirt.

Speaker 5 (35:49):
Nice.

Speaker 4 (35:50):
Well, when we had the KSR day, when I nailed
the match game, I had the dresses.

Speaker 5 (35:54):
Of Reds had your Doug Flinn shirt one.

Speaker 4 (35:56):
So let's not get it twisted. Before we go back
to the.

Speaker 2 (35:59):
Phone line, I do need to there's one more note
we need to mention. We mentioned Sean Alexander from Northern Kentucky.
Northern Kentucky basketball player Take Kenny from Newport High School
picks Kansas and then they said his final three was
what Kansas Louisville, Arkansas. Kentucky wasn't even in the finals.
And I thought Kentucky was in good standing with him

(36:19):
for a long time. But take Kenny, who now plays
for Overtime Elite, was grew up in Newport, Kentucky. Gonna
play at Kansas's he's he's. I saw him in middle
school at an eighth grade tournament. He was a seventh grader.
He was the best player on the floor, best player
on the floor of the seventh grader.

Speaker 4 (36:34):
Uh yeah, and I is considered one of the best
point guards in the country. Really, my takeaway on this
is what a whiff by Pat Kelsey. We heard all
the with whiff out of Louisville last last spring about Pope.
Let me talk about their whiff because they were counting
this as a win forever ago. Same with the Caleb
Wilson kid. They didn't get either. I mean, but they

(36:54):
get locked in. They talk their noise way too early
into recruitment, and this is what happens. So wiffiy will
with Louisville and you're not point guard, you so calm down.

Speaker 5 (37:03):
That's true.

Speaker 4 (37:04):
If the point guard you talk about that while I
was gone by Yeah, that was the dumbest comment ever.
It was is Pat Kelsey has he forgotten that just
last year in the last game, Kentucky's point guard was
perfect from the field with thirty one points against your team.

Speaker 5 (37:20):
How about that?

Speaker 4 (37:21):
It was literally a perfect basketball game. As a point guard,
So eat it, Pat Kelsey with Wiffy whiffy with on Takenny.

Speaker 5 (37:29):
He is Drew Franklin and that's why he's the best.

Speaker 4 (37:31):
I will say. You can tell you recruited him too,
but you know we'd rather have a uh good luck
to take Kenny. You watched him in middle school. He's
from northern Kentucky. Want him to have a good career.
But as far as with the Cats, they're in with
a lot of other guys. We might have a second
year low. Hopefully he's a one and done low here,
but we'll see. But I don't think this impact impacts
Kentucky too bad. But Louisville was counting this as done

(37:51):
for a while.

Speaker 2 (37:52):
So with and the people who think the shoe deals
don't make a difference. Canvas is an Adida school, Yes.

Speaker 4 (37:57):
Thank you for adding that.

Speaker 5 (37:59):
Guess what over time lead is in Adida school?

Speaker 4 (38:01):
Yeah? And what like same Nike on this one, it's
in your own brand. That's with with withffy with with yeah,
all the whiffs point guard? You got that was the
dumbest comment. Who's up deck Shannon point guard? Ryan Chucky?
Hepburn Okay, he was all right? How did you do
last year? He was the second best point guard in
the state.

Speaker 5 (38:20):
You second best point guard in the state? Yeah? Who
he got you? Who'd you say was.

Speaker 4 (38:26):
Joe? Go ahead, Joe.

Speaker 12 (38:28):
How you guys doing?

Speaker 5 (38:29):
Joe all right?

Speaker 12 (38:31):
Surviving guys? Surviving? Hey two comments one of these positive.
I guess I'm sort of. But everybody needs to get
off the fire stoops train. It's not gonna happen. They
just need to shove up, put their energy someplace. Sales
and another. Same with Cutter Bowlie. This guy is going
to be a quarterback. I mean Alabama and everybody and
his brother wouldn't recruit the hat if they remember back

(38:52):
Andre Woodson couldn't hang on to the ball when he
first started playing. Yep, now look at what Andre Woodson done.
You're just gonna have to give some time. I say,
bring that defensive coordinator out of that boot down on
the field, get a Dusty Bonner to work with Cutter
Bowley only short five and ten yard passes.

Speaker 8 (39:13):
And have some fun to see there we go.

Speaker 5 (39:16):
Appreciate the phone call.

Speaker 2 (39:17):
Could have had asked Dusty when he was here earlier,
if you want to help work on the short passing game.
I think I think there's still a lot of people
that still believe in Cutter Bowley. Obviously he's got the talent,
like he said, everybody wanted to everybody was recruiting him.
He just not his best game he had Saturday.

Speaker 4 (39:32):
No, That's what I was saying earlier, Like, I think
fans are still behind him and want him to work out.

Speaker 5 (39:37):
Agree, local agree.

Speaker 4 (39:38):
I mean when he committed, we all want the homegrown
quarterback to work out. You thought you had that with
Drew Barker years ago, but injuries held him back. Tolls
had a pretty good run, but it's always better when
it's one of your own. Yes, we wanted to work
and I think most people are in agreement that. You know,
it's a tough spot. We can't grade a second year
quarterback in his first road start like that. But at
the same time, it did not go well. I mean,

(39:59):
he could have very easily had more interceptions than he did,
so it was it was disappointing first look at him
on the road, But most fans want this to work
because it will. It will be a lot more fun
moving forward if Bowley is the option looking good than
having to go back to portal shopping.

Speaker 5 (40:13):
Who's next, Shannon?

Speaker 3 (40:13):
Who we got Shannon?

Speaker 5 (40:15):
Shannon? Go ahead, Shannon.

Speaker 13 (40:18):
This morning on a Tom Show, he made a reference
to the Marlins playing the w k RPS theme song
during the game last night. I thought that was a
pretty good gig at the Marlins. But as far as
the coaching staff goes to UK, I'm kind of curious.
Why why Kentucky, we know where placed on the food chain,
especially in the SEC. Why don't they go to a

(40:39):
productive D two offensive coordinator and bring them in and
try to get us going like the way they've given
Pope an opportunity. You guys, have a great day. Love
the show.

Speaker 5 (40:49):
Appreciates phone call. What do you think, Drew?

Speaker 4 (40:51):
I mean that's Dusty was saying that most first hour,
like you gotta do something to bring some new life.
They even said, you're not gonna out Georgia. Georgia. George
is always gonna have better players. Yes, so if you're
just trying to match styles, you're always gonna be playing
from behind.

Speaker 2 (41:06):
That is that's a good comparison, Like Kentucky tried to
be a mini Georgia way they built their roster.

Speaker 4 (41:12):
A lot of times that and that's good to win
a lot of games, especially if you're the better opponent,
but you're not gonna knock down that door and really
get excitement like Vandy went out and got that. I
think Jerry Kill or Krill or Jerry Kill I think
is his name from New Mexico State, they had the
Pavia connection. No one really knew who Pavia was. Where
Vandy goes and gets them. Sure, it's a bit of

(41:33):
a gamble, but you see what happens when you go
find that domine on the rough yep, that is on fire.
I thought we were gonna beat Vandy this year. I
thought he might take a step backwards. I mean, but
they look so good and if Vandy can do it,
it's like, well, even if you are playing a little
bit behind, it's been proven it can happen, just a
matter of having a coach that can go out and
find those right pieces.

Speaker 2 (41:53):
Well more, call Shannon who we got quickly, Let's go
to Brent. Brent, you got like thirty seconds.

Speaker 14 (42:00):
All right, guys, listen, I just want to give a
big shout out to Billy R Sports with his expert
fix on cover zero with Jackson's dart running touchdown and uh,
I'm just wondering, is uh is Kentucky's football in aptitude
gonna affect basketball anyway? With the NI on the money
and the revenue sharing and all that, like, you know,

(42:23):
we need them to.

Speaker 2 (42:23):
Be appreciate it. Yeah, appreciate the phone call. The money
is always gonna be there for Kentucky basketball. No need
to worry about that. The Kentucky basketball has the biggest
budget of anybody else in the country. That won't be
affected at all. So look tomorrow, come by Cashbar and girl,
wear your sis and your red stuff. Get a free
sided fry of the purchase has a reds played the
Dodgers tomorrow night at nine o'clock, and get you a
great American burger to enjoy the game with. We're tighten

(42:47):
up for Drew Tomorrow's Richie Farmer and Buck Stivers.

Speaker 5 (42:51):
How about that for show? Goodbye,
