You got Shannon the Dude Brew. He'll billy hustle Shannon.
You you're a What do you tell everybody about your beer?
People always ask me what it tastes like.
Speaker 5 (01:30):
It's a brown hell, it's got hazel nut in it.
That's something you don't see very often in beer, is
a hazel nut beer. But it's very delicious. You can
get it in Kroger stores very soon.
Speaker 4 (01:37):
And then in Lexington on Winchester Road is their new
pickleball facility.
Speaker 3 (01:41):
You all played in it. Uh, they have a lot
of people out there going makes that noise and nah.
But if it's I hear very popular and people love
playing the pickleball.
Speaker 5 (01:53):
It was a lot of fun. Drew played for the
first time just last week.
Speaker 6 (01:56):
Oh, I had a great time. I will pickleball again,
if I could go back and redo our night. Though
we just ran the gauntlet with appreciow listeners. I think
we played seven consecutive matches.
Speaker 5 (02:06):
We did. We have a little exhausted by the end
of it. But I would highly encourage everybody to go there.
You don't have to have a membership to be there either.
Speaker 4 (02:11):
They don't have to have a membership. That's right, stretch,
just trust me. For those of you here. For those
of you here, fourteen dollars lunch special, double cheeseburger, fries
and a beer. Fourteen dollars. That's pretty good. Well done
by Udh and all the guys here. Let's go over
a couple things before we get back to the phones.
Let's start with the college football decided yesterday, Ryan, the
(02:32):
transfer portal for football will be now like basketball, it'll
be one period of time in January. You may remember
before you had one right after the season, and then
you had one right after spring practice. They've basically gotten
rid of the one after spring practice, so you can
transfer only in January. So I think that's good. That
(02:53):
will make the rosters a little less crazy. Here's the
only problem though, Sorrey a problem for us, but for
the teams that are playing in the playoff, they're gonna
have to do their transfer portal while they're in the playoff.
And for the players in the playoff, you're probably gonna
have some distractions as guys will be in the playoff
trying to decide if they're gonna go somewhere else while
they're in the playoff. I can't imagine coaches like that.
(03:16):
At the same time, a school calendar is when it
is so like, you can't wait till February because school
have already started in the other place. So but now
there will be a three week period in January where
everyone goes wherever they go, and that will be a
wild time.
Speaker 7 (03:32):
Yeah, you know it came up during the playoffs last
year where you heard the commentators talk about they felt
like this guy was going into the transfer portal, but
yet he was still playing on the team that was
still alive in the playoffs. So I don't want an
answer around that. I mean, you gotta do it after
the sea you know, before the semester start.
Speaker 4 (03:46):
Well, there's no good time because you can't wait till
after the playoffs.
Speaker 3 (03:50):
School's already started everywhere, and if you wait till April.
Speaker 4 (03:52):
You're gonna make people be in a school that they're leaving,
So Drew, I don't really know what else you can do,
to be honest.
Speaker 6 (03:58):
Yeah, there's teams with several advantages in college football right now.
If the teams in the playoff have a little bit
of a disadvantage moving forward, will be okay, they're having
a good year. It's it's like when you're in the
you know, pros, you get the last draft pick because
you made it farther. It's just you're in the playoffs. Sorry,
you got a little bit more to do.
Speaker 5 (04:15):
Maybe that will encourage players who are actually on a
playoff team to stay there. I would think that would
have a lot to do with your Maybe maybe a
team that contends for the championship, maybe you'd be more
likely to stay.
Speaker 4 (04:25):
I think the bigger thing for people to watch this
is something we won't know the effect of this until
about one year from now, but I'm getting the sense
that like a system that this past year was insanely
pro player, they made a lot of like the guys
playing right now this year got the best deal in
(04:47):
the history of sports. If you are a basketball or
football player, this year you got double the money. For
the reasons we've talked about. You had a system that
really had no limits on transfers, and it was wild,
I'll grant you, by the way, probably hurt us a
little bit in football, probably helped us a little bit
in basketball, because we probably.
Speaker 3 (05:04):
Spent more than anybody else.
Speaker 4 (05:06):
I think the thing to watch is the momentum is
shifting to I think the system that's gonna end up
in place is gonna be not as much pro school
as it was before, but pretty pro school. A couple
things is gonna be this portal just being a couple
of weeks. Another thing is what we talked about yesterday,
(05:27):
how many of these nil deals are getting struck down.
These deals are getting struck down, which is saying like
they're doing strict scrutiny.
Speaker 3 (05:34):
And then this is the one. I think it's the biggest.
Speaker 4 (05:37):
I didn't realize right now the buildings before Congress, which
between which I don't think will pass, but it could,
you never know. But the buildings before Congress right now,
it would give the NCAA an anti.
Speaker 3 (05:51):
Trust exam exception. Now why would that matter.
Speaker 4 (05:55):
It would mean that whatever the NCAA rules put forward
they could even be challenged in court. Now, that's pretty crazy.
The only sport that has that is baseball. If you
give the NCAA to where an NCAA rule is not
even challengeable in court, then all of a sudden, you
(06:17):
have a system where the NCAA becomes like judge, jury
and execution. And we've seen over the years the NCAA
makes decisions that are very frustrating. And the bill that
right now that has been written by I think Tommy Tupperville,
gives the NCAA an anti trust exemption. If that passes,
it will be a massive loss for the players. Now,
(06:38):
I don't think it's gonna pass, but it is something
to watch. It's the only bill currently before Congress, and
Trump has endorsed that bill, so we'll see what happens.
But that so, I would say the players now should
think they're lucky stars.
Speaker 3 (06:50):
They were here the right year.
Speaker 7 (06:52):
Yeah, you said it was so pro player for all
this time. There had to be some checks and balances
put in place somewhere, right.
Speaker 4 (06:59):
Yeah, But you know, it doesn't mean you swing the
exact opposite way to where where you don't eat. You
can't even challenge anything in court. Like, that's crazy. To me,
that's crazy.
Speaker 3 (07:07):
There needs to be there's got to be in the
middle somewhere.
Speaker 4 (07:09):
Yeah, yeah, but fluctually wait, fluctuating all the way back
the other way, to me, doesn't make sense. UK Nebraska
ESPN announced the UK Nebraska volleyball game last week was
the most watched volleyball game in the history of the sport.
There's never been a college volleyball game in the regular
season more watched one.
Speaker 3 (07:30):
Point two million people.
Speaker 4 (07:31):
Just to give you an example, the amount of people
that watched that was more than every college football game
except seven in Week one. Only seven games had more
people watch them than the UK Nebraska volleyball game. It
was a game we lost, but Ryan, it was a
game that we led for two sets and we're right
there in it with the best team in the country.
Speaker 3 (07:50):
So really good stuff for UK volleyball.
Speaker 7 (07:52):
Great exposure for UK volleyball, going toe to toe with
the King of the King, the best of the best
in the volleyball college volleyball Nebraska, Kentucky held their own,
had a chance to win the game, so I think
it was huge positive for Craig Skinner.
Speaker 8 (08:03):
They got a big one tonight.
Speaker 3 (08:04):
Thought they and they played. So for people who are
wondering what to do tonight, if you don't want to read.
Speaker 4 (08:07):
Those two articles I gave you, UK plays Nebraska was
number one. Number two is Penn State. UK plays them
tonight on Fox. Uh, this is on regular Fox. So
that record that was just set might get broken tonight,
drew as UK Penn State play. I mean, if you're
a Craig Skinner, at the end of tonight, you will
(08:30):
have played in the two most watched volleyball games and
the history of the sport. That's pretty good.
Speaker 6 (08:35):
Yeah. I was one of the one point two million
on Sunday. Loved every second of it except the outcome.
They were even talking about when Kentucky was up two oh.
If Kentucky were to win, Penn State would become number one,
and then Kentucky would be playing number one.
Speaker 3 (08:50):
Week.
Speaker 6 (08:50):
It's interesting, neck if you could have you know, swept that.
You know that's a dream, But just the fact that
you're playing top two teams within a week of each
other to start the season, both nashally televised. I know
we don't back a lot of volleyball recruiting, but I
can only imagine that's huge for the program even farther
than what they've already done.
Speaker 3 (09:04):
And on network TV shit. I mean that.
Speaker 4 (09:07):
You know, now we have streaming a lot of things,
but still games on networks get the highest rating.
Speaker 3 (09:12):
That's pretty good.
Speaker 5 (09:12):
Coach Skinner has done a great job in his scheduling
with that take all, take on all comers mentality, and
it's it's played well into their success.
Speaker 4 (09:20):
Finally, Paul fine Bomb Ryan clearly tried to get Kentucky
fans worked up.
Speaker 3 (09:26):
I don't know if you saw this.
Speaker 4 (09:27):
So sec Nation was trying to decide this week whether
they went to Old miss Kentucky or they went to
Kansas Missouri. A lot of people don't realize Kansas Missouri
that is a rival where he goes back a long time.
Speaker 3 (09:39):
They call it, I think the Border War or something
like that.
Speaker 4 (09:41):
And then they went in different conferences, so they haven't
always played. Fine Baum did a video where he looked
in the camera and said, everybody wanted to go to
Old miss Kentucky, but I told him Kansas Missouri is better.
They're only going to Missouri cause of me. He's clearly
trying to over the Missouri people, but he also was
(10:02):
trying to like kind of talk trash to Kentucky old
miss do you care?
Speaker 7 (10:07):
I care a little bit because he was kind of
on thin ice with me anyway, the way they treated
you on that show. So now I'm like more or
so to push him away to Paul final who listened
to Paul Fine bam boo. I listened to Shannon the
dude on the radio that time frame. Okay, Shannon's on
the same time.
Speaker 3 (10:27):
Just not be the case, what about you.
Speaker 6 (10:31):
I'm supposed Paul went with the villain role that he did,
but I just I've been considering it as fact that
SEC Nation would be here. I know the Border Wars
a long rivalry, but it's the only SEC versus SEC
game of the weekend. It's the first SEC versus SEC
game of the season. I would have definitely picked this
far the SEC network Kansas, Missouri.
Speaker 5 (10:51):
I'm glad I don't. I wouldn't want him here anyway.
Hey bring college game Day, that's the rule.
Speaker 4 (10:55):
Yeah, I have to say, to be honest with you,
I think SEC Nation I like a lot of the
p bond it. I think they're nice people. But as
an entity, who cares? I mean, I'm just saying who cares?
Have any of you gone to watch SEC Nation, and seriously,
anybody you've gone, is it fine? You are hard core fans,
(11:16):
you want to grove street Back and you went to
SEC Nation. I just to me, like, when SEC Nation
comes here, they just sit in the parking lot. They
might have a couple of hundred people like I don't.
I don't say this to be rude. We get more
people our bar than they get at SEC Nation.
Speaker 3 (11:32):
I don't.
Speaker 4 (11:33):
It's it's what's true. I mean, game day is a
different thing now. Game days an experience when game day comes,
like the world is at your place. I don't SCC
Nation doesn't move the needle for me at all.
Speaker 5 (11:44):
You know, the environment at Kaos Bar and Grill on
a game day would be better than Yeah.
Speaker 4 (11:48):
I just don't think it's It's just it's fine, But
it doesn't matter to me.
Speaker 6 (11:53):
The only thing that's good about it is when they're
in your town. I agree, if you go, there's not
much c They at least try to feature your team
more than they would they do. That's show that is,
they'll have a guest. I don't watch it, but that's
at least the argument of why Kentucky would be good
to have on it.
Speaker 3 (12:06):
Who's up next?
Speaker 8 (12:07):
Daniel's nat?
Speaker 3 (12:08):
Daniel go ahead? Daniel, Hi, go ahead, Daniel All ain't no, Daniel.
What's up next? Uh? Next week?
Speaker 7 (12:22):
Got Dennis?
Speaker 3 (12:23):
Take your time? Rick, Dennis, go ahead.
Speaker 9 (12:27):
Hey, Matt, I'm a I'm a stoopid supporter, but as
of right now, after thirteen games, I had zero confidence
in our offensive coordinator. And I agree with what a
lot I've heard you say. It's like he runs the
football or he'll pass the football. When when when? In
(12:49):
my opinion, he already running the football and then he's
running the football when you think he needs to pass football.
I just I just don't get this offensive coordinator.
Speaker 4 (12:57):
Yeah, I have to say for me, and I appreciate
the all tomorrow for me is not a reflection on
a personal level of Mark Stoops. It's a reflection in
some ways though a bush Hampden. I mean, we're about
to go play against the best offensive may one of
the best offensive mines in college football.
Speaker 3 (13:13):
Lane Kiffin is as.
Speaker 4 (13:14):
Good an offensive play callers there is in college football.
Speaker 3 (13:18):
I bush Hampden. I don't understand.
Speaker 4 (13:21):
I wrote some of it off last year because I
was like, well, the Vandergriff. Thing's not working. The offensive
line is not good. But then I don't know what
they were doing Saturday. A lot of those games for me,
I want to see, Okay, Lane's the best, how does
he stack up against him one on one? They worked
last year, But let's see what happens with this.
Speaker 7 (13:40):
And you know Stoops has made it pretty clear they're
going back to the ground and pounded running game. Does
that handcuff Hamden a little more?
Speaker 3 (13:46):
Yeah, but they didn't, That's what I'm saying.
Speaker 4 (13:48):
Like he said that, and then we got to midfield
twice with a chance to get a field goal to
make it a two possession game, and they threw it
six straight times for incomplete passes. So I don't They
can say that, but they don't even always execute that.
Speaker 6 (14:02):
Now, I give him a little bit of a pass
on last year because he took the job in like February,
he had nothing to do with the roster. Pretty unique circumstances.
Then you get to the season they could not score
from the two yard line. We were like, oh, for
whatever at the goal line. But I'll give you a
little bit train him was supposed to be that back
he was hurt but this year, no excuses and I
think he's oh for one on passing the test. Through
(14:23):
week one, there's just a lot of the fans on
your post game show, felt like every call where people
just asking what the hell is even doing up there?
Speaker 4 (14:30):
You know, I take Brad White as a given. If
he's got the roster, we're gonna be pretty good. I
sometimes wish he would blitz a little more, but you
know what, that's a picky that's a nitpicky thing.
Speaker 3 (14:40):
But off Hitch Shannon, I think has a lot to
be Yeah, question, and.
Speaker 5 (14:42):
You gotta get I mean, I know it was only
one game, but you gotta get something more out of
Calizado or it's gonna be a long game on Saturday.
Speaker 7 (14:48):
So do you buying it all? They only ran eighteen
different plays? Do you buy any and all that they are?
Speaker 4 (14:52):
Well, I mean I buy it happened As to whether
as to what it means, Let's see how many plays
they run this Saturday. Right, If we run only the
same eighteen plays, then I'm like, uh oh, if it's because.
Speaker 3 (15:02):
They held out like you said they might have, then
that might be different.
Speaker 7 (15:06):
That's That's what I'm hopeful for that they kept some
plays in their back pocket.
Speaker 3 (15:10):
I'll tell you this.
Speaker 4 (15:11):
If we only ran eighteen plays and then we run
the same eighteen plays this game, we're gonna get destroyed.
Because what Lane Kiffin will will have every play like
that's he's say whatever you.
Speaker 3 (15:23):
Want about him as a personality, et cetera.
Speaker 4 (15:25):
He is smart, and smart people will be ready for
for for big games. Kentucky Chambers working on important issues
Kentuckians are facing.
Speaker 3 (15:34):
They're tackings tech.
Speaker 4 (15:35):
They are tackling significant challenges with childcare and much more housing,
et cetera. They support a brighter future where businesses and
communities across the state come together, learn more and get
involved at Kwychamber dot com. That's ky Chamber dot Com.
Will take a break and be right back here at
country Boy, this is Kentucky Sports Radio. Well come back,
(15:57):
it is Kentucky Sports Radio eight five nine to eight
nine eighty seven. I know people are making me miss
my computer. All right, let's do our other game picks quickly.
Iowa Iowa State Battle of Corn Iowa State is a
two and a half point favorite.
Speaker 3 (16:14):
All I needs who's gonna win in the Battle of Corn?
Who you got?
Speaker 5 (16:17):
Iowa State on the road, steals.
Speaker 3 (16:18):
Iowa States at home. You're still good, so you're definitely
gonna take them.
Speaker 5 (16:21):
Yes, no, no, no, Iowa, Iowa on the road, Iowa
on the road.
Speaker 3 (16:25):
They're taking the hawk eyes.
Speaker 6 (16:26):
All right, what do you got go with the home
team in the cyclones, Iowa State.
Speaker 3 (16:30):
I'm gonna take Iowa State at home. Baylor SMU.
Speaker 4 (16:33):
SMU is not beaten Baylor since nineteen eighty six. They've
lost to them seventeen straight times in this rivalry. However,
this game is at SMU, and for the first times
in twenty five years, SMU is favored. Can they break
the forty year slump and beat Baylor in Fort Worth?
Speaker 5 (16:54):
Not gonna happen. BYU rolls.
Speaker 4 (16:56):
BYU's not in the game. It is SMU and Baylor.
It would be very difficult for Baylor to win. For
b YU to win the Baylor at Baylor.
Speaker 3 (17:06):
All right, I was looking at Pat right there.
Speaker 7 (17:10):
Listen, he's got Ryan itis today.
Speaker 3 (17:13):
Mormons are very influential and they are able to do,
but they cannot play win a game they're not playing
by all right, Baylor, Okay, what do you got?
Speaker 6 (17:21):
Baylor has a little extra time to prepare for this one. However,
no one wins eighteen in a row in the series.
You're going with USC.
Speaker 3 (17:32):
They're taking Alright, what do you got?
Speaker 7 (17:34):
I'm gonna go Baylor. Why because they got They're mad
they got beat last week.
Speaker 8 (17:38):
Go Baylor.
Speaker 3 (17:39):
All right, I'm gonna now.
Speaker 4 (17:40):
Remember this is one of those things where normally I
would say, you're discounting the team that had a poor performance.
Speaker 3 (17:47):
However, s m U has not won in forty years.
Speaker 4 (17:52):
They're gonna They're winning this one. This is the time
they finally get it. The big game at night, Oklahoma
and Michigan. Michigan coming to Oklahoma. Oklahoma is a five
and a half point favorite game day is there? They
have a Heisman candidate there for Oklahoma.
Speaker 5 (18:07):
Who you got Michigan wins because well, because Oklahoma's got
a gambling quarterback.
Speaker 3 (18:14):
That is true. He did, he did.
Speaker 5 (18:17):
He did game or at least they allegedly game points
for his own team.
Speaker 3 (18:21):
All right, who you got?
Speaker 6 (18:22):
Not you missed it? I wish I knew what side
he was on. That would help. I'll go Michigan with
the upset Oklahoma's. Uh, this is when we really set
their coaches seat on fire.
Speaker 7 (18:32):
I think Oklahoma SEC kind of announced himself they're for real.
I go Oklahoma.
Speaker 4 (18:36):
It's gonna be a great environment. I mean, Oklahoma's been
like looking forward to this game for ten years. I'm
gonna say Oklahoma wins. They had a little bit of
a disappointing year last year. They bounced back. Arizona State,
who last year was in the playoff, is going across
the country to Startville, Mississippi to play Mississippi State. During practice,
I don't know if you've seen this all week, they
(18:57):
have had graduate assistants running walking around and they did
the cow bells for four straight days. The entire practice.
They just clang those stupid bells in their player's ear
to get them ready. Arizona State. Arizona stated a six
and a half point favorite Shannon in Startville, Who's got the.
Speaker 5 (19:16):
Most obnoxious sound in college football. But I'm still gonna go.
Mississippi State wins.
Speaker 3 (19:20):
The game pulls off the upset, all right.
Speaker 6 (19:22):
You got a playoff team versus a team that lost
to Toledo at home last year. Arizona State goes in
there and beats them.
Speaker 7 (19:28):
I Haasley stayed with the SEC, but not in this one.
I'm going to Arizona State.
Speaker 4 (19:31):
Missippi State was bad last year and they almost lost
it in Week one. They struggle a little bit against
Southern miss I'm gonna take Arizona State to win on
the road, and then your Vanderbilt Commodores go to Blacksburg,
Virginia to play at Virginia Tech in the Battle of
the V's who you got.
Speaker 5 (19:50):
Andy beat them last year, They're gonna beat them this
year again on the road. Give me bandy.
Speaker 6 (19:53):
Are the Pavia brothers out of Jailia?
Speaker 3 (19:55):
The Papa brothers think they're out of jail.
Speaker 6 (19:58):
Vandy wins if they're not there, Virginia Tech wins. I'll
say Vandy wins that they're there.
Speaker 7 (20:02):
Okay, hard to win in Blacksburg. I'm going Virginia Tech.
Speaker 3 (20:05):
I'm going Virginia Tech too. I think Vandy.
Speaker 4 (20:08):
Vandy is in for a come down this year after
your big year last year.
Speaker 3 (20:13):
People believe in him too much.
Speaker 5 (20:15):
I think they looked pretty good last week. I know
it was Charleston Southern, but they still wont like they.
Speaker 3 (20:19):
Can have all their Charleston girls they.
Speaker 4 (20:21):
Want in honor of Tyler. They're gonna They're gonna lose
in Blacksburg Who's next?
Speaker 8 (20:27):
Parker is next?
Speaker 3 (20:28):
Parker? Go ahead? Hey man, how you doing doing good?
Speaker 7 (20:33):
Hey?
Speaker 10 (20:34):
So, I'm gonna tell you tomorrow, South's defense is gonna
win us the game. He's gonna have one of those
pigs are perfect games that he has probably once or
twice a year. We come out with the W two
and oh start.
Speaker 3 (20:44):
Thank you all right.
Speaker 4 (20:45):
I appreciate the call. Let's make the case for the
defense tomorrow. I like, yeah, it make the case for
the defense tomorrow. They looked really good for eighty five
percent of the game against Toledo. Do you think that's
repeatable tomorrow?
Speaker 7 (20:59):
Yeah, because, like we talked about earlier this week, I
throw that last touchdown out. That last touchdown a teedle got.
I'm just gonna throw it out. So they gave up
one score the whole game and did a good job
of keeping Toledo contained. I think we've proven we got
some good edg rushers. I think a defensive line is
much better. I'm really still believing in our secondary. So
I like our defense. A gets to anybody in the SEC.
Speaker 3 (21:18):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (21:19):
Simmons had to play last year a little bit in
some big games when Dark got hurt, but overall, for
the Simmons era. He's going on the road in the
SEC for the first time. You know, we worry about
our own team. But Old Miss still isn't completely sold
on him after he threw two picks. So if you
can get him rattled, maybe that coal whistle gets him
thrown off a little bit. I think he still has
(21:40):
to prove himself.
Speaker 5 (21:41):
I think that is the key that, like I said earlier,
they've got a young quarterback. If they can get to
him early, put some pressure on him. I think that
that's the way you win.
Speaker 4 (21:47):
A lot of a swan myself included sometimes about Brad
white'z like zone keep them in front of you scheme.
But it does seem drew to really annoy Lane Kiffin.
He really hates that they can't go deep and he you.
Speaker 3 (22:02):
Could see it in the game last year. He gets impatient.
Speaker 4 (22:04):
I don't think he likes the little five yard dump
five yard dump, whereas like a Nick Saban or a
Kirby Smart will just take it and grind you down.
Speaker 3 (22:12):
It always feels like.
Speaker 4 (22:12):
To me, Lang Kiffin still wants to force it, and
I think it actually is partially why Kentucky has some
success against Old.
Speaker 6 (22:19):
Miss yeah, and it can be annoying. You know, you
mentioned sometimes one more blitz. Brad White could definitely be
more aggressive, but just over the course of what he's
done here. I mean the defense is held up most
years for that. Ben don't break mentality. You wait for
the other team to make the mistake. Give him four
or five here and there. It gets annoying when a
team goes the link to the field doing it. But
a guy like Lang Kiffin.
Speaker 3 (22:38):
He gets impatient. It does annoy him.
Speaker 4 (22:40):
I think over the course of a game, who's next,
Kent can't thirty seconds?
Speaker 3 (22:46):
Go ahead? Kent?
Speaker 4 (22:53):
All right, that's okay, Right, It's okay, you can't's got
other things to do. If I'm nine two twenty two
eighty seven, we are here at Country Boy. You can
come to this tap room and watch the Cats play
all fall. You can go to their places in Lexington
as well. Country Boy beer. What's your favorite? Country Boy?
I have people sometimes ask me which one to get.
Speaker 7 (23:13):
Cougar Bak's been my go to for years and years.
I love Cougar Bak. Cougar Bak line. Oh, I'm sorry, Shannon,
the dude brew is my go to. I've been going
to Shandub brew for years.
Speaker 3 (23:24):
You're so easily bought.
Speaker 6 (23:26):
My boy, do you have one? Do you have a
different one? You've probably tried. I'm an ipa guy. Right
now I'm drinking a Hazy Jumper. It's very good Hazy Jumper. Yeah,
I'm twenty two eighty seven.
Speaker 4 (23:36):
We'll take a break. Be right back here a country boy.
This is Kentucky Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (23:40):
Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio.
Speaker 4 (23:42):
An absolutely beautiful day here at Country Boy Brewing in Georgetown,
one of our longest sponsors and a great member of
the central Kentucky community. Country Boy got twenty four different
beers and it is such an awesome day to have
all the fans here. One of my favorite days of
the year. I was just on Somebody yesterday. I love
this show because these are some of our best fans,
(24:04):
and they come and they enjoy it, and they're they
pay attention, and I always, always, uh always love coming
out here.
Speaker 3 (24:11):
When the show is over, Ryan and I.
Speaker 4 (24:14):
Are joining Mario and my friend Tall and we are
going Shannon to the Reds batting practice today. Yes, we
get to go on the field and I'm gonna tell
Matt McClain that he stinks and that he needs to
be better, and then we're gonna watch Ellie and all
those guys right from the field.
Speaker 3 (24:30):
I have on my red shoes and I'm ready to.
Speaker 5 (24:33):
Rock up and take some hots.
Speaker 4 (24:34):
I don't think they're gonna let us this is I mean,
they play the Mets, they're probably done. But you know,
if they were to sweep the Mets this weekend, in theory,
they'd cut it to two games. If they're gonna have
any chance, they got to sweep. So this is a
big series for him, and they're letting us on the field.
Speaker 5 (24:49):
Maybe you can bring him some luck. I thought the
summer of Belly was over there.
Speaker 8 (24:53):
Chance.
Speaker 3 (24:53):
I mean, if if they were to sweep the Mets
this weekend, there would still be a chance that's what
they'd have to do. But but I'm still the I'm
still very much looking forward to being out there.
Speaker 4 (25:02):
I've never gotten to see that up close. Watch watch
the guys take hacks.
Speaker 3 (25:06):
I know, you gotta be excited.
Speaker 7 (25:08):
I think I think Tito will probably look over and
see me standing there and ask me to step in
the cage and do a little hitting lesson for some
of the guys.
Speaker 8 (25:14):
You think so yeah, I think so.
Speaker 3 (25:16):
But you got I feel like this is the kind
of thing you're gonna enjoy this.
Speaker 7 (25:19):
I mean, you invite me to come out. I got
immediately excited just to be on the field during batting practice.
I mean, Shannon has been there when you're a baseball
player batting practices where all the camaraderie stuff happens, all
the you know, the movement in the shape, and it's.
Speaker 4 (25:29):
For a real game. I mean, this is like not
just and it's not even just a regular game. This
is a big game for them to be able to
like I am.
Speaker 7 (25:37):
I think it's I even brought a REDG jersey to wear,
a REDG jersey.
Speaker 8 (25:41):
To put on.
Speaker 3 (25:43):
That's pretty good. That's big.
Speaker 8 (25:44):
Don't tell my dad, Well, I.
Speaker 3 (25:46):
Think you just did. If I'm eighty seven.
Speaker 4 (25:51):
Somebody sent me this last night and they specifically said
they wanted Shannon the dude's opinion.
Speaker 3 (25:56):
All right, let's go. Did you see what Michael Irvin
said yesterday?
Speaker 5 (26:00):
No?
Speaker 3 (26:00):
No, I did not.
Speaker 4 (26:01):
Michael Irvin said that, you know, when he signed with
the Cowboys, he got a million dollars as his signing
bonus check.
Speaker 3 (26:10):
That he made a copy of his.
Speaker 4 (26:11):
Million dollar check and he would leave it on the
night stand in his house so that when he brought
women home, they would casually see the million dollar check
and they would know how much he was worth and
it would make them more into him. That feels like
to me, a Shannon the dude approved move?
Speaker 3 (26:31):
Is that correct?
Speaker 5 (26:32):
You don't think I'll leave a four pack and threw on.
Speaker 3 (26:36):
After me?
Speaker 5 (26:37):
Maybe the world heavyweight radio title.
Speaker 3 (26:39):
On the other side, of course, are we sign But like,
are we really saying, Drew that women will like a
guy more thinking that they're worth a lot of money.
Speaker 6 (26:50):
I think that's probably the case. You know, I used
to do this move when I started working for KSR.
I would leave my checkout so my roomates wouldn't ask
me for rent money.
Speaker 3 (26:59):
It would work.
Speaker 6 (27:00):
It worked occasionally, so it had a different goldfeah.
Speaker 5 (27:03):
Okay, you think, though, the house should kind of show
you what he's worth.
Speaker 4 (27:07):
Well, I think he had just signed, so maybe he
didn't have quite the house that he did later in
his career, but it was like he wanted to show, hey,
there's there's a million dollars in the banker.
Speaker 3 (27:16):
At least there was pre taxes.
Speaker 6 (27:18):
You know, power play who keeps the check on the
night's in though, like maybe on a on the fridge
behind a magnet, but like you take it up to
your bedroom and put it on your night stamens where she's.
Speaker 5 (27:28):
Gonna see it. She's not going to the refrigerator, she's
going true.
Speaker 3 (27:34):
Do you like that move?
Speaker 7 (27:36):
I used to lay at least three dollars on my
night's dam and I used to bring ladies over.
Speaker 3 (27:39):
That was just though.
Speaker 8 (27:43):
I didn't say that. I didn't say that. It wasn't me.
I didn't it wasn't me.
Speaker 3 (27:49):
You know, I knew.
Speaker 8 (27:51):
I didn't say it.
Speaker 3 (27:52):
Knew. Shannon and Drew have already made everybody laugh.
Speaker 4 (27:54):
Let's just move a why ask rind He's only gonna
He's only gonna make it worse. And then that's what
happened eight five to nine two aight oh twenty two
eighty seven, Bill Belichick, I've enjoyed watching this hole, this
whole shenanigans. The New England Patriots requested that their scouts
be able to come to practice. That's what happens, like
it happens all the time, and Belichick said the Patriots
(28:18):
were banned from North Carolina practice. Other teams are allowed
to come he bans the Patriots.
Speaker 3 (28:25):
Is that petty? And do your support it.
Speaker 6 (28:28):
It's very normal to go to a college practice and
you just see NFL logos all over the place. When
we had our you know, we don't get to go
to miny electionon but when we have our media day,
it's very normal to be next to guy with the Bengals,
the Titans, you name it. It's very common for them
to go scouts. So for him to just cut out
one of the thirty two teams, that is very petty.
Speaker 3 (28:46):
But do you like it?
Speaker 7 (28:47):
It's obvious that Jordan told him not to let the Patriots,
so she must not like the Patriots and she made
that decision.
Speaker 4 (28:51):
For well, I Bett it's partially that they forced him
to resign. I mean like that's but that is a
level of pettiness, Shannon that I feel like I could
see you.
Speaker 3 (29:01):
You know, you lose a gig.
Speaker 5 (29:02):
You just say I could see it, And that would
probably be me too if I were chick.
Speaker 4 (29:06):
Yeah, you're both digging. I could see Drew not doing it.
You would do this, right.
Speaker 5 (29:12):
I would do it too.
Speaker 7 (29:12):
I absolutely would do it. If they let me go
and fired me. I don't want them around my people mind.
Speaker 3 (29:17):
Yeah, so how can you so like it's not Jordan.
Speaker 4 (29:19):
I mean, it might be Bill Belichick that just doesn't
want them around.
Speaker 7 (29:23):
I know it's not fair to his players, but they
can watch tape. They're like, well, they're gonna pick up
in one practice. They can't see during a game.
Speaker 6 (29:29):
I was gonna say, that's one less NFL opportunity for
your entirely true.
Speaker 3 (29:33):
That is true.
Speaker 4 (29:34):
That's kind of stinky for the players because they're losing
a team. That that is. That's a very good point.
That's selfish.
Speaker 3 (29:39):
Who's next? Harold is next? Harold? Go ahead, Harold.
Speaker 5 (29:47):
You we're not doing great on the phones today.
Speaker 3 (29:50):
Are the phones working wreck? Are they a couple? Yes?
They are?
Speaker 11 (29:56):
They?
Speaker 4 (29:56):
Well, okay, all right they If I'm not to you
ain't no twenty two he said, we want to try
somebody else.
Speaker 3 (30:02):
Oh, we got Bob, all right. You know I love Bob.
Go ahead, Bob.
Speaker 10 (30:08):
Matt, you were talking about the crypto king down there
in Smithland. My life when I went down there to
see where the Cumberland River goes in the Ohio, and
Smithland is a little town about like Jamestown. But then
we saw his house and it's like five car garage.
It's got a built in car wash. I mean, that
guy's too much. Anyway. You're talking about earlier on one
(30:32):
of your shows that when you go to Africa you
were going to do a little swimming thing. Is it
skin diving or scuba diving? I was a skin diving
with a mask of snorrek from my house. Scuba with
an air tank? What are you gonna do?
Speaker 4 (30:45):
Yeah, it's not the one with the air tank. I'm snorkeling.
I may have said scuba diving because I don't get
in water, so I don't know the difference. But I'm
doing the one where you put the little tube and
your float and you got your slippers on, and that
I'm doing that thing.
Speaker 10 (31:00):
Well, there you go, listen, I have a good time.
I don't talk to you before that. Enjoy your eight
beautiful women, and one of them.
Speaker 3 (31:12):
I appreciate the call somebody.
Speaker 4 (31:15):
I got a piece of advice that they said to
me that I need to wear compression socks on the
flight so that you don't because it's fifteen hours long.
So I bought compression socks and I guess I should
have known this, But they come up to my knees. Yeah, so,
because I guess they come up to my knees. I'm
gonna have to I don't want to be the guy
(31:35):
wearing shorts with socks up to his knees walking through
the walking through the airport.
Speaker 3 (31:40):
In New York. Actually looks good on you.
Speaker 6 (31:43):
See he's right there all right, you know what, sir,
let me apologize to you.
Speaker 8 (31:51):
You know what, that's great. Look that looks great.
Speaker 4 (31:56):
And I think making him black socks makes it work
even better. You wear it well, and you got the nikes,
you know what. I take it back now, I walk
the streets of Manhattan or wearing that exact?
Speaker 3 (32:07):
Are those combat boots that you're wearing?
Speaker 6 (32:11):
He looks like he's going on a South af Actually, yeah.
Speaker 3 (32:14):
You actually look like.
Speaker 4 (32:15):
I don't have any of the clothes you're supposed to have.
Like it said the thing I got said wear Safari pants.
Speaker 3 (32:24):
What does that even mean? Like I don't even know it.
Speaker 4 (32:26):
Well, they said, don't wear shorts because there's snakes and
like briars.
Speaker 5 (32:31):
And things, aren't they kind of like cargoes, cargoes with
a slot of pockets.
Speaker 3 (32:36):
Yeah, to keep your knie If you wear those, then.
Speaker 8 (32:38):
You can compression socks. Nobody will see it.
Speaker 5 (32:40):
You know.
Speaker 3 (32:41):
No, I'm gonna wear long pants.
Speaker 4 (32:42):
But it said like wear cargo pants, like that's just
or not excuse me, they said Safari pants, like that's
just something I have drew.
Speaker 3 (32:48):
I don't know what that means.
Speaker 6 (32:49):
I was gonna go back to the flight fifteen hours.
Just pull your socks and shoes off. Let those puppies breathe.
I know, is that is that unacceptable?
Speaker 5 (32:57):
Probably?
Speaker 3 (32:58):
I mean, I don't know.
Speaker 4 (33:00):
I don't know if I want to sit next to
a guy who's got their shoes and socks off a
period of time, but don't.
Speaker 6 (33:06):
Let the dogs out on that flight.
Speaker 4 (33:07):
Yeah, well it's a long time. I mean the flight
takes off at eight o'clock. Think about this for a minute.
It takes off at eight o'clock in New York. When
it lands, that's on Friday night. When it lands, it
will be five o'clock the next day. In South Africa,
it'll be eleven am on my body time, but it'll
be five pm.
Speaker 3 (33:26):
So basically a day Shannon is just going away.
Speaker 5 (33:28):
You'll be ready to host Kentucky Sports Radio Hour two when.
Speaker 4 (33:31):
You get Yeah, it's I'm not doing that. But but
I am that that we have to do. I have
to do the NFL show from South Africa. Compressions in
my care I'm only wearing my compression socks. Yeah, yeah,
then you know he's taking a video component.
Speaker 3 (33:47):
That's right.
Speaker 4 (33:48):
Hey, Can you believe it's already been four months since
corn Bread launched. There in few seltzers. They are flying
off the shelves. They sponsored our night last night at
Chaos Bar. People love them. They are crips, refreshing and delist.
These guys drink them. You love them, don't you?
Speaker 3 (34:02):
Ryan?
Speaker 8 (34:02):
I really like them. They're really tasty.
Speaker 4 (34:04):
That's why you're always in that mood. Go to cornbredthimp
dot com and KSR listeners. You can get twenty percent

return of Ryan Lemon's motivational speech.
Speaker 3 (34:23):
That's next right here at Kentucky Sports Radio Quarterback.
Speaker 4 (34:27):
It is Kentucky Sports Radio. Here at Country Boy Brewing.
Thank you to all the folks here at country Boy
for for everything. We appreciate it. H e five nine
two twenty two eighty seven. Okay, so tomorrow, well, first
of all, Cover zero podcast.
Speaker 3 (34:43):
One of the.
Speaker 4 (34:43):
Cooler moments for our NFL Cover zero podcast was when
yesterday the NFL network I turned it on and at
the bottom scroll it said NFL Cover zero hosted by
Kentucky Sports Radios Matt Jones and Drew Franklin.
Speaker 3 (34:56):
Drew, that was kind of awesome. I'm not gonna lie
to you to see that on the NF. I didn't
know they were gonna do that, so that was kind
of neat, very cool.
Speaker 6 (35:03):
I was actually having dinner with my parents and some
family that was in. I was kind of like, can
we just casually change the channel over here real quick
and kind of got to flex for the family.
Speaker 4 (35:10):
It's now up to number three in sports podcast. Thanks
to you all nice very much. If you haven't yet,
please subscribe, but also listen. We've gotten some great feedback
of it's kind of I mean, it's us, but it's
also you know, Drew and I've known each other so long,
we kind of know some things about each other, and
there's just a like We're a little more casual in that,
and I've really enjoyed it. So we were starting to
(35:32):
get our fade this energy so well.
Speaker 6 (35:34):
I've got a lot of feedback of people who say,
I don't watch the NFL, but I'm listening and following
because of this, because of fade, this, this show, all that,
and those are the ones I appreciate you you.
Speaker 3 (35:44):
I appreciate it too.
Speaker 4 (35:45):
And then Sunday Night, you know the latter the Sunday
night game is Bill's Ravens. We have to record it
after it, so we're gonna be at the studio with
Mario and Billy like what. There'll be eleven or eleven
thirty at night and we're going live there. Eventually it'll
be live for people can watch at the end, but
we'll probably do some social media video from it. Are
you excited to do our in the middle of the night,
(36:07):
just when we needed a.
Speaker 6 (36:08):
Little more work to do on the weekend? That's fine,
It's the NFL. I'll watch football all day anyway. Now,
I just have to drive downtown for a couple hours
to meet with you all at the end of the night.
Speaker 4 (36:17):
So the bar opens tomorrow eleven am. Our show starts
at eleven thirty to one thirty on all the affiliates.
Please listen if you come in. We were bringing in
extra places to cook, so hopefully everything will go great.
And then after the game, obviously we will be open
as well. If you're not going to the game, please
come watch it there, but we will be there eleven
(36:38):
thirty to one thirty. Adam Luckett is gonna again join
us in an hour two to provide actual information to
get you to get you ready for the game. And
I'm looking forward tomorrow to being there, Ryan, I expect
a lot of fans Old Miss listen to that, the
old Miss, the grove, whatever thing offered to they wanted
to have, like an event.
Speaker 3 (37:00):
From eleven to one.
Speaker 4 (37:01):
We're kind of asking can we have the bar and
I said no, right, no, no offense to you, but
we have to have Kentucky fans in there before the game.
Speaker 3 (37:09):
And that's what we decided.
Speaker 7 (37:10):
Kentucky they need this fan base to be there, be
loud and be proud. I mean, they got a chance
to this huge windom all they need your help.
Speaker 6 (37:17):
Yeah, sturt out with one hundred and fifty thousand wants
to come by here.
Speaker 3 (37:19):
It was hard to turn down.
Speaker 4 (37:20):
He was it was gonna be a nice little chuck
of change grow collective. But I was like, you know what,
I don't think our fan base would appreciate it. All Right,
Draft Kings bet five win three hundred dollars. It's time
for our Draft Kings parlay. Go to Draft Kings dot com.
This will be on the front page. We won week one, yeah,
so you would have won eight to one. Eat it
if you got it in week one. So, Shannon, what's
(37:41):
it gonna be this week? You tell me the first leg?
Speaker 3 (37:44):
YEP.
Speaker 5 (37:44):
Last week I with the last lug that sealed the deal.
I'm gonna do it again. This week. We're gonna go
a late game with San Diego State Washington State. Washington
State is a one and a half point favorite. Can
be Washington State and one and a half.
Speaker 3 (37:55):
Love it. I actually love that pick. I like it
a lot so Washington State. That game doesn't.
Speaker 4 (37:59):
Start till ten to fifteen, so we won't know two
in the morning whether or not the KSR parlay hit.
Speaker 3 (38:06):
I also like it that way.
Speaker 4 (38:07):
Shannon doesn't last, so if we lose early, he doesn't
get blank. That's why I know how Shannon's mind works. Sorry,
Washington State minus one and a half.
Speaker 3 (38:15):
What about you, Drew?
Speaker 6 (38:16):
I have a night game a little before his feel
good about this week because it's a stadium I've been to.
I've already scouted this out, even though it was like
fifteen years ago. We're going to East Lansing. Michigan State
is gonna beat Boston College at home. Michigan State had
a close directional game last weekend. There's a biving overreaction.
They're fine, Boston College beat up on some scroll. You
taking Michigan State just money line at home? Their four
(38:38):
point favorite, but just win, Just win Michigan State at home.
Speaker 4 (38:41):
Michigan State money line, you're taking the spread of Washington State.
Speaker 3 (38:44):
All right? What about you?
Speaker 7 (38:45):
West Virginia on the road at Ohio. I like West
Virginia this money line, West Virginia pick over Ohio this
money line money line.
Speaker 3 (38:53):
Yeah, this is crazy.
Speaker 4 (38:54):
I saw that West Virginia is playing at Ohio, which
is weird in and of itself. But they are only
a three and a half point favorite, which is like,
it doesn't seem like much. I mean, if you know
where Ohio's campus is, it doesn't feel like it's that
far from West Virginia. I could see West Virginia having
more fans. So we got West Virginia and Michigan State
money line, Washington State against the spread. I'm gonna finish
(39:15):
it up. I'll actually be the first game to play.
Illinois is at Duke, and Illinois is only a two
and a half point favorite. I've been to mini games
Duke football. No one goes Illinois's right to eleventh in
the country. They're gonna have as many fans there as Duke,
if not more. I will take Illinois to go on
the road and win two and a half. I'll even
(39:36):
take it against the spread. So Illinois minus two and
a half, Washington State minus two and a half, West
Virginia and Michigan State too.
Speaker 6 (39:43):
Well, there's another stadium we've scouted out. We did KSR
there one time.
Speaker 3 (39:46):
We did.
Speaker 4 (39:47):
That's exactly right, all right, Kentucky Mark Stoops. Let's you
all come on down here, Kentucky and Mark Stoops. Kentucky
is one one and oh so is Old miss. This
is a massive game for both teams. Cats come in needing.
It lost eight straight sec home opener. Shannon, give me
tell me what the what score is? Gonna be and
(40:07):
who the MVP is.
Speaker 5 (40:08):
I'm gonna say, Kentucky shocks the world, wins this game tomorrow.
It's gonna be twenty one to twenty and I'm gonna
go with Daltell.
Speaker 3 (40:16):
Look at this guy, that's my MVP. I wish i'd
known that. I think Kentucky's gonna play really well.
Speaker 4 (40:22):
I can't pick them to win just because I think
there's too much on the other side.
Speaker 3 (40:27):
I'm sorry, i gotta have some credibility here. I'm gonna
