Welcome back, you can take you Sports Radio eight five
nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven Here at
the KSR Somerset Golf Scramble. Got the speaker working, so
hopefully I'll be able to play something for you. I'm
excited to play a little bit later in the hour.
We're gonna go to the phones here in just a second.
One person rides matt if Cutter Bowls. You're started by
week three, and you went into the portal and paid
(01:19):
over a million dollars for your quarterback. Then you screwed
up on the portal. I think that's fair. That's completely fair.
If you're already getting rid of your quarterback after week two,
then you picked the wrong quarterback. I mean that's just
that's just a that's a fact. I mean they've been
you know, depend they've they've either one of two things
is true. Either they've had the wrong offensive coordinators and
(01:41):
they don't have a good offensive plan, or they've gone
three years in a row without picking the right quarterback.
Speaker 4 (01:45):
And you can decide which one it is.
Speaker 3 (01:47):
I tend to do the offensive coordinators becuz you know,
Devin Leary made an NFL team, so he can't be
that bad. And then Brian Vandergriff quit football, and Zach
Alzada at one point beat Alabama so some of it is.
I think it's more coordinator based, at least to me.
Speaker 4 (02:07):
I think so too.
Speaker 5 (02:07):
Calzada has not been good on his own so far.
I mean, he missed a little screen pass through it
at his feet, plenty of misthrows on Calzada. He looks
like he's seeing ghost out there. But I feel a
little bad for him when before the play he's yelling
what the bleep are we doing? And his receivers can't
get in position and they're running plays and put him
in a position to take a safety like last week
(02:29):
or some of these play calls he's getting. Yes, he's
missing throws, but at the same time, I don't know
that we're exactly setting him up to succeed.
Speaker 4 (02:35):
He's great, I think it's the best way to put it.
Speaker 3 (02:36):
He I don't think he's great, but I also don't
think we're setting him up to succeed.
Speaker 4 (02:40):
And that combination Shannon is not good.
Speaker 6 (02:42):
Yeah, I mean, organization is the most simplicity, is the simple,
most simple thing that you can do when it comes
to running your offense, and they seem to have none
of that. And it all goes back I think to
the offensive coordinators, how many have we had now since
Stoops has been here a lot, a lot more than
I can even By.
Speaker 3 (02:56):
The way, also, I don't think we we we necessarily
appreciate Our offensive line is the third most experienced offensive
line in.
Speaker 4 (03:03):
All of college football.
Speaker 2 (03:04):
I saw that stat.
Speaker 4 (03:05):
So it's not like we're like a bunch of kids.
Speaker 3 (03:07):
This is the third most experienced offensive line in terms
of games played in all of college football.
Speaker 2 (03:12):
And through the first two game, they think everybody's pretty
happy with the way the offensive line has played. You know,
no really major mistakes. A running game has been pretty
well done pretty well the last two games, especially against
an SEC defense. But you talk about the transfer your
big money guy Calzada. Last year, you big money guys
were Chip train him and Vandergriff. You before that's your
big money guy was Devin Leary. I mean, it's just
they keep missing on their transfer portal guys, and they
(03:33):
just can't do that.
Speaker 3 (03:34):
Can we say one thing that's good? Seth McGowan's really good.
That's a really good runner. I mean, that's the kind
of dude you want. Takes a hit, gets a few
more yards. He is uh, he's a stud. But just
this morning, the new episode of the NFL Covers zero
podcast with Me and Drew came out. Please listen to
it today. I think you'll like it, but I'll still
(03:55):
a little behind the scenes story. So, so the NFL
wants us to tape the US on Sunday nights after
the night game is over, and that's pretty late, right,
so it's usually over eleven fifteen eleven thirty. So we've
made a decision as a as a family, Me, Drew,
Billy and Mario, we're gonna get to the studio at
halftime of the of the night game so that during
(04:16):
the second half we can discuss what we're gonna do,
and then as the moment the game's over, we can start.
So we get down there ten nine minutes to go.
Baltimore's up fifteen. They get the ball back on an interception.
Shannon and I think, well, game's over. They're good, right right,
They're up fifteen, they got the ball with nine minutes
to go.
Speaker 4 (04:37):
Buffalo's not been able to stop them. Let's start the show.
Why not? So we start the show.
Speaker 3 (04:42):
We lead with that game because it's the biggest game,
you know, we're talking about it. We're making good points.
Lamar Jackson Dereck Henry burber Bro. We get in, we
start moving to the other games. We're like four games
in and all of a sudden, I see on Billy's
face and I've seen it before.
Speaker 4 (04:56):
There's a look of panic. You can just see. You
can see on his face.
Speaker 3 (05:00):
I'm Billy and I'm panicky, and I and he grabs
the remote and I went I even knew. I was like, God,
I think I know what's happening. And then we turn
it on and it's forty to thirty eight and Buffalo's driving.
You know, if we were live, which we're gonna be
in a few weeks after I get back from South Africa,
(05:21):
we probably would have just kept going. But you know,
I mean, it wouldn't make sense if we started a
podcast and we said Baltimore one.
Speaker 4 (05:30):
So we just have to stop, and then we just
have to start over.
Speaker 3 (05:33):
Like the first thirty minutes are gone, so that will
be somewhere in the ether of the archives of KSR
is the first thirty minutes of the podcast.
Speaker 4 (05:42):
I actually think the second version was better than the first,
so I think it's fine.
Speaker 3 (05:46):
But we ended up going home at one in the
morning because we literally got thirty minutes into it, and
then stupid Buffalo came back and.
Speaker 6 (05:55):
Was it's week one for you guys to a mistake, right,
and that is really one of the most chaos are
things that could happen and the.
Speaker 4 (06:01):
Most KSR cursed thing imaginable.
Speaker 3 (06:03):
You go, well, this game's over, and then I wish
I had a camera on Billy he I could see
his panic. He's like, oh no, and then there you go.
Speaker 2 (06:13):
Football gods didn't like you guys starting that a little early
before the game was over, did they.
Speaker 3 (06:16):
We're not gonna be able to do that in the future, Drew.
I think we're just gonna have to wait it out,
just in case.
Speaker 5 (06:21):
Pretty unique circumstances there, and it wasn't just that we
mentioned the game. We talked about the impact on the playoffs.
Speaker 3 (06:28):
You may listen when you listen to the podcast. We'll
see if you catch the moment. So we did thirty
minutes and I was like, there's about ten minutes I
think we can salvage, and we left it in.
Speaker 4 (06:40):
As I was.
Speaker 3 (06:41):
Driving down here this morning, there's at least one thing
on there that probably we shouldn't have left in because
it's basically assuming Baltimore one, and that's gonna sound stupid.
So when you listen, you might hear one moment that
goes ere. They probably shout your call covers zero. You
literally don't even watch the games.
Speaker 6 (06:57):
According to the podcast, we watched the game.
Speaker 3 (07:02):
Now, I will say, as we were talking about the comeback,
we had to be vague Ryan because we didn't really
know what happened during the comeback because we had the
television off.
Speaker 2 (07:11):
But on the on the good side, you guys nailed
all the other games had finished.
Speaker 5 (07:15):
People only wanted our Commander's Giants takes.
Speaker 4 (07:18):
The other games were completely good.
Speaker 5 (07:20):
Matt did another big impersonation. Now I think we have
a new bid. This is two straight weeks off, only
two weeks where Matt has done a new impersonation.
Speaker 3 (07:27):
And I did Chris collins Worth when when Josh Allen
and uh makes a good play he and he and
Lamar Jackson. I'm not gonna do it on the public
airwaves because it's but I think it's a pretty good
impression because you know, he gets excited, he starts grunting
and he starts moaning.
Speaker 5 (07:44):
And last week was Dan Campbell.
Speaker 4 (07:46):
Now collins Worth, so you gonna hear a sign of
Matt Jones.
Speaker 3 (07:49):
Maybe you haven't heard before if you listened to this
week's but please subscribe. H like it with the stars
they are. They seem very happy so far, and we're
not fired yet, so we're pretty good now.
Speaker 4 (08:00):
However, starting with our next.
Speaker 3 (08:01):
Show, I'm on the road and then we'll see if
I'm able next Sunday to connect in Johannesburg, South Africa
after having not watched the games at all.
Speaker 2 (08:10):
Right, well that's what the magic of Google's for. You
can Google up through some information for you unless you
kind of yeah.
Speaker 4 (08:17):
I like it.
Speaker 3 (08:18):
I'm nine twenty two eighty seven. Let me give a
shout out to something positive of UK sports. UK volleyball
goes on the road, plays Top five Penn State, beats
them in three straight sets and dominates the game. They
had a huge crowd, they ended up it basically was
dead on national TV again on Fox. They were playing
on network television and they win. That means they have
(08:40):
played two teams in the top five, essentially in road games,
back to back, and have won the first two sets
in both games. Won the game against Penn State. They're
gonna end up rank probably number three in the country.
Craig Skinner, Drew has a national championship contender we had.
Speaker 4 (08:56):
I mean, that's something to be excited about going forward.
Speaker 5 (08:59):
Yeah, you spoiled State's fun up there. They had a
big banner night, big celebration.
Speaker 4 (09:03):
If you hain't hung their banner, if you held.
Speaker 5 (09:05):
On against Nebraska on Sunday, Penn State would have been
one and you would have beaten the number one team
twice in one week, being unheard of and about any sport.
Speaker 3 (09:13):
But still they probably would have been We probably would
have been number one if we hung out.
Speaker 5 (09:17):
Oh oh yeah, definitely, but a huge, huge win. Looks
like Skinner's loaded up again. We know they've had a
good hold on the conference for a long time, but
it looks like they're gonna be a national contender this season.
Speaker 6 (09:27):
Just makes that Nebraska game that lost that much tougher.
You're up two to ohero on Nebraska and have a
chance to just sweep them, and then you'll lose that game.
They come back and beat it.
Speaker 3 (09:37):
Craig Skinner Basically, if you look at the top eight
teams in the country that's not Kentucky.
Speaker 4 (09:41):
He scheduled five of them there.
Speaker 3 (09:43):
So he's making it to where we're going because in
the SEC, volleyball is the one sport that the SEC
doesn't do as well. So like we'll run through the SEC.
Florida is the only other team that's good. So he's
playing this non conference schedule ride and so far doing well.
Speaker 2 (09:57):
I love it. You know, so many coaches early in
the conference season season they want to play these cupcakes.
He's like, hell no, we're gonna go after the big boys,
big girls, and we're gonna chill them what we're made of.
They're definitely the best team on campus. We don't talk
about him enough. They deserve all the recognition they're getting
right now.
Speaker 3 (10:10):
And next year, these teams they played are coming here.
So I don't know what if you're gonna have a
next year home schedule, but they'll probably have like the
best volleyball home schedule next year of any team in
the country.
Speaker 4 (10:20):
Who's next, Dennis is next? Dennis? Go ahead, Dennis?
Speaker 7 (10:26):
Hey, can I make a a comment question about the video?
Whoever operates that before? Of course you can't on the
game here the video. I'll tell you what this video,
whoever operates the video on big board horrible. Every time
we go on defense, they start the stupid blue white
chant on the video board. You're chilling.
Speaker 3 (10:48):
I've heard more complaints about the blue white chant. I
didn't realize that was such a big deal to people,
but it was. I did hear it on the game broadcast,
and it did seem like, I'm with you, maybe we
retire that for when it's loud.
Speaker 7 (11:04):
I mean, when you're doing the blue white chant, you
actually have a gap there between the blue and white.
With jizzer offense, you know that they can communicate. It's
a horrible chance. People are looking at the video boards
and you're looking at the at the play on the field,
it's it's I don't know who's operating it, but they
they they need some help. Uh. As far as the game,
(11:26):
if you listen to Van hows during Tom Leach, uh,
obviously the quarterback quarterback play kind of costs us that
game because, uh, according to Van House, he there are
some wide receivers skimmed opening during that game and we
just missed them.
Speaker 4 (11:43):
Well, that may be right, he would know better than me.
Speaker 3 (11:45):
And by the way, while I'm gone and uh, we're
gonna have through. We were playing in this last week.
While I'm gone, they're gonna have a lot of guests, uh,
folks on here. Van Hiles is gonna be on the
show one day, you know, Jack given Richie Farmer, there's
gonna be during my two and a half weeks gone.
You're gonna not not have to hear my voice, but
(12:06):
you will hear a lot of voices around UK sports
that you don't hear as much on this show. They're
each gonna be doing guest appearances on this so hopefully
folks will enjoy and Van Hiles will be one of those.
So what was your second thing?
Speaker 8 (12:21):
Uh?
Speaker 7 (12:22):
I think Stoops gets a lot of bad rap for
the offensive coordinators with the number he's had. Lim Cohen
was here twice and left for NFL job.
Speaker 4 (12:31):
Thus two times.
Speaker 7 (12:32):
Uh. Then you've got Eddie Gran that was basically ran
out of here. Uh, pretty much by the fans in
my opinion, because in my opinion that year with the
Lim Bowden that was impressive. He could probably get the
best job as OC that year.
Speaker 3 (12:51):
Now, Ednie Grand and I appreciate the call Eddie Grand.
I think in hindsight, Ryan Lemon, we might have we
might have been a fan. We might wish Eddie was
still here to be honest with you because he he
actually we won most of the time he was here.
Speaker 2 (13:08):
How many times on a Monday morning show like this
since Eddie Grant has left, we talked about the same
issues Kentucky's been having.
Speaker 4 (13:15):
On offense, and Eddie didn't have those, didn't.
Speaker 2 (13:17):
Have those when he was here, but ever since he
left him like so many Monday mornings, we can discuss
poor clock management, poor offensive schemes, for play calling, you know,
the same thing over and over and over.
Speaker 4 (13:26):
We talked about this on Cover zero.
Speaker 3 (13:28):
But Shannon Liam Cohen, his owner is name, it's Tony
Kahan's dad, it's something conn And he has a mustache
that's an amazing mustache. And there's a postgame locker room
video Liam Cohen wins his first game as coach of
the Jaguars and he hands Liam Cohen the ball and
he goes, starting today, we win forever.
Speaker 4 (13:51):
Thought it was aline. He was like, we win forever.
Speaker 6 (13:55):
Such a strange dude, but he, I mean, he is
pretty good offensive coordinator.
Speaker 4 (13:59):
No the owner or said it to Leo.
Speaker 3 (14:01):
Oh okay, but I think there's a lot of pressure
saying Lilliam's gonna have to win for the rest of time.
Speaker 5 (14:05):
If I'm calling, I'm like, I hope this isn't print
into my contract. We're the Jaguars. I know we get
to play the Titans twice, but I can't win every game.
Speaker 4 (14:11):
Now he thinks they're winning forever. Who's next?
Speaker 7 (14:15):
God?
Speaker 1 (14:16):
Bluegrass?
Speaker 4 (14:16):
Up next? Bluegrass? I got a minute? Go ahead?
Speaker 7 (14:20):
All right?
Speaker 9 (14:21):
Tells I just I need to take a look at it.
I need to take a look at what I do.
I'm in a mountain all day breaking my bag. Then
I traveled down under Lexington. I'm feeding my kids. I'm
spending four or five hundred dollars. When is enough enough?
Speaker 2 (14:37):
Man?
Speaker 9 (14:37):
I mean, I love this team. I don't want to
give up on the team. But you asked me to
do the same thing every weekend. And where am I
benefiting from this at all?
Speaker 4 (14:49):
Well?
Speaker 3 (14:49):
I went into great detail on the postgame show. I
won't repeat it here, but you can hear it on podcasts,
and it was that exact point, and I appreciate the call.
The short version is you go to a UK game
with your family. That is a five hundred dollars or
more investment. We ask people to do it, and the school,
the program has got to start giving it back, whether
(15:10):
it is is an experience or winning, it has to
start becoming a reward because or otherwise you're gonna see
people start to say the investment is not worth it.
And you know when you sit there and think about
driving the whole way to get there, eating before going
to the game, and the tickets, eating after anything you
get while you're there coming back, that is a for
(15:32):
some families that might be one thousand dollars on this
particular day. Then you're asked to do it six or
seven times during the year. You're gonna have to start
giving something for people back or they're gonna say, I
got other things that I can do. When it comes
to physical health, you want a physical therapist you can trust.
That's Court Physical Therapy. For over thirty five years, Court
(15:53):
has been an orthopedic in sports physical therapy throughout Kentucky,
providing care to athletes and we can warriors alike. The
physical therapists from Court can help you as well. With
over seventy convenient locations. Go to Court dot com. That's
KRT dot com, the best in rehab for.
Speaker 4 (16:08):
Yourself at Court.
Speaker 3 (16:09):
We'll take a break here at the KSR Golf scramble
thoughts are by the City of Somerset, Lake Cumelin Tourism,
Somerset tourism in.
Speaker 4 (16:15):
The Virginia's Kentucky Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (16:19):
Worker back of is Kentucky Sports Radio A five nine
two eight oh twenty two eighty seven. Text machine is
seven seven two seven seventy four five two five four.
By the way, the Texas, I always forget Texas in
the SEC. Also very good at volleyball. They're actually right
number two now, so we'll get a chance. So now
they're gonna play six of the top ten times because
they will get Texas as well.
Speaker 5 (16:40):
Drew Skinner's not afraid. I mean cal would famously say
any time anywhere, and how Pope say any once at all.
Skinner's actually living it. Sure the best programs out there.
He wants them on the schedule.
Speaker 4 (16:50):
I love it. That's good.
Speaker 3 (16:51):
Let's talk about KSR. Parlay nearly hit for the second
week in a row. Let's sit there and say, all right,
we started to day Illinois over Duke easy win minus
two and a half. They won forty five nineteen. It
was a little bit closer for Drew, but he got
his what was.
Speaker 4 (17:07):
It Michigan State? We needed o ten shit State got
it overtee.
Speaker 3 (17:10):
Then late at night, Washington State, listening to my man
uh Shannon held on against San Diego State.
Speaker 4 (17:17):
That game finished at one forty eight in the morning.
Speaker 3 (17:21):
Could have been back to back KSR parlays, but Ryan
Lemon led a big dud when he bet on West Virginia.
Speaker 4 (17:28):
Boop boop.
Speaker 6 (17:29):
Dude, what do you have to say for yourself? I
lost money because of you. You owe me five dollars.
Speaker 2 (17:35):
I felt so good about that pick. Maybe that's why
I didn't win.
Speaker 3 (17:38):
Literally, if if you had won that we would guarantee
to be up for the years we would be we'd
be two and zero, and we would guarantee a positive
result for the year if you had just won. I mean,
I can't keep picking all these winners if you're gonna lose.
Speaker 2 (17:51):
I feel like we're all gonna bounce back next week,
next week week.
Speaker 4 (17:54):
I don't know.
Speaker 5 (17:55):
It's a you there were undefeated people at this time.
Speaker 4 (17:58):
It's exactly three of us two and oh so.
Speaker 2 (18:01):
Seven out of eight picks to start the season.
Speaker 4 (18:03):
That's good, though, seven out of eight picks.
Speaker 3 (18:05):
I mean, I'd like there's people out there charging money
for their picks drew that haven't gotten seven out of eight.
Speaker 5 (18:10):
Yeah, what do we make them do to punishment?
Speaker 2 (18:14):
Well, it's just do your homework the fighting, which Barnhardt's
got me. Ohio beat West Virginia, so ye.
Speaker 4 (18:22):
Want to be pretty pretty bad at football.
Speaker 3 (18:24):
Let's a couple other little things that happened North Carolina.
Bill Belichick says, hey, Patriots people, you cannot come to
the game. They win the game, they go to Charlotte
and they win, so good for him. But what do
you think about the University of Charlotte. They on the
jumbo tron had a gold Digger camp.
Speaker 2 (18:43):
Love it.
Speaker 3 (18:44):
It just showed women in the crowd with men uh.
Speaker 4 (18:49):
And said that they had the gold Digger camp. Is
that fair? Shit?
Speaker 6 (18:53):
Absolutely, it's fair. Any chance you have to troll your opponent,
you should do it. And I think that is a
very creative way to troll Old Bill Belichick's absolutely what.
Speaker 2 (19:03):
Absolutely, I don't care if the Duke Blue Devils want
to do a gold digger camp. Everybody should do a
gold Digger cam. It's already been done.
Speaker 4 (19:11):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (19:12):
I'm enjoying all of this, and he deserves all of this.
But there is a little part of me. That's like
the great Bill Belichick is going out as a joke,
like everyone is making pay.
Speaker 6 (19:21):
At least he's happy, I know, but I mean we're
not happy that he's happy. I'm happy for him.
Speaker 4 (19:27):
This guy that ran like that's very pro the whole thing.
Speaker 6 (19:29):
Look, man, my guy, Bill has all the money in
the world and he's got it. He deserves to be
happy at this point in his life. He's an old man.
He doesn't care he wins or loses. At North Carolina,
he's got He's got Jordan.
Speaker 5 (19:41):
We hear so much about the Patriots Way. It was
like a military operation in there. He's one of the
greatest NFL coaches of all time, and now we're watching
him his girlfriend and her disco pants is like tugging
on his shirt on the sideline. One money to go
to the concession stand is It's just sad to see
him go out like this.
Speaker 6 (19:56):
I respect it.
Speaker 3 (20:00):
I'm kind of with Shannon though, in the sense of
if he's happy, what do you care? I mean, like,
if he's if he's if he's happy, what then then
it is what it is? We who are we? Florida
loses at home to South Florida. Their next four games
are all against teams ranked in the top twelve. Florida
plays Georgia, LSU, Miami, and Texas A and M in
(20:23):
their next four games. They lose to South Florida. Ryan,
I don't know if I'd want to be Billy Napier.
By the time they get to us, they might have
their season might have already collapsed in November.
Speaker 2 (20:33):
Yeah, he was on the hot seat last year. Then
they kicked Kentucky's butt. Kind of first started them pretty well,
pretty well, played pretty well, then kind of played pretty
well the rest of the season, on the hot seat again.
I don't know if he can survive a second year
this debacle.
Speaker 3 (20:45):
Well, he was, they were terrible two years ago and
then it looked like last year. But you're right, they
beat us and then kind of went on a run.
Speaker 4 (20:53):
Droe to Disease survived this one. I mean, they have this.
Speaker 3 (20:56):
They had the hardest schedule in the country before losing
to South Florida.
Speaker 5 (21:00):
This has been my best take all year. I think
Kentucky's gonna win that game in November, and now when
they're losing to South Florida at home early and feeling
even better. I made one futures bet in college football
one and it was the Florida under because it was
seven and a half. I don't think they're good, and
I don't think Billy and April will be there at
the end of the year. And it has already started
to crumble and we're not even to the middle of
(21:20):
September yet.
Speaker 4 (21:22):
So one more you like trolling, Channon?
Speaker 3 (21:25):
Yeah, Oklahoma State played Oregon, and Mike Gundhy during the
offseason was like, Oregon's got all this money, you know,
they think they can just buy their way to a
national championship. They get all these players, we're working hard,
blah blah blah. So they play on Saturday. Oregon beats
Oklahoma State sixty nine to three, and during the fourth quarter,
(21:46):
while up sixty nine to three, every break they just
play come on, come on, listen to the talk.
Speaker 4 (21:54):
They do it the entire fourth quarter. Do you like that?
Speaker 6 (21:57):
I do. If I were in charge of the music,
I would probably be doing the same. So I love it.
Speaker 4 (22:01):
See, I just wonder. I think that's hilarious.
Speaker 6 (22:04):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (22:04):
Could you ever see a world that Mitch Bartinhart would
let our people troll?
Speaker 2 (22:08):
Like, no, no, we're to be respectful to the opponent.
Speaker 3 (22:12):
I think the money talks is pretty hilarious, especially since
Gundy started it right with all of his.
Speaker 4 (22:17):
Comments, who's up next, Brett? Is next, Brett? Go ahead, Brett.
Speaker 10 (22:23):
I just want to think about how much joy we
got when we switched to zone in the Duke basketball game.
I don't think it's too much to ask for our
offensive coaching staff in football to make a simple adjustment
like that. They keep playing the same offensive scheme the
entire game. It's like he scripted the entire game and
(22:46):
if old missus quarterback, theres two picks in the first quarter,
and their complete offensive philosophy changes that.
Speaker 4 (22:54):
They that you're exactly right.
Speaker 10 (22:56):
They do more quarterback run. Like I don't think it's
too much to ask just.
Speaker 4 (23:00):
For you are exactly all right. That's a great point,
and I appreciate the call.
Speaker 3 (23:03):
Lane Kiffin saw that their game plan wasn't working, adjusted
it started adding in more quarterback run and their offense
started to click.
Speaker 4 (23:12):
We just don't do that lot.
Speaker 3 (23:14):
We just you don't see those mid game adjustments that
changes the way we play. Very often with our football team.
We'll take a break and be right back. We're gonna
play something I think you're really gonna like next like
at Tucky Sports Radio.
Speaker 4 (23:27):
Welcome back Tucky Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (23:29):
A beautiful day here in Summerset for the Somerset Golf scramble.
Speaker 2 (23:32):
Folks eating lunch.
Speaker 3 (23:34):
It is gorgeous, little chilly outside, but otherwise ready to go.
If you're gonna play golf. This is better than being
suffocating in heat. Tomorrow we are in Lebanon at the
Cornbread Hemp Cornbred Hemp Field. You if you're in the area,
you're welcome to go. What's the address, Mariobilly? You know
he's on the phone. We'll figure it out, but it'll
(23:55):
be online. But we are at the Cornbread Hemp facility there.
Outside it's kind of cool. You'll see where it's all grown.
I'm looking forward. I've been to the one in Lexington,
but not the one there. One person writes on the
texts machine, Matt. I've been to every UK home football
game but two since nineteen seventy six.
Speaker 4 (24:13):
Wow, I've seen some terrible football.
Speaker 3 (24:16):
But I have to tell you Saturday frustrated me as
much as any game I've ever been to. From being disorganized,
no sell service, crappy game atmosphere, the good thing about
Mark stuobis he's brought to me the point that when
I walk in the gates, I feel we have a chance. However,
the disorganization and lack of fundamentals is brutal. I'm gonna
go Saturday to see Cutter, but if we don't improve
(24:37):
by the time we come back home next week, I'm done.
I'd rather just watch it home because in college football
games last forever, think about that. That is the kind
of comment UK needs to listen to, because I get
literally dozens of those a week and they're real and
(24:58):
like the folks that UK can go on it's just
wine and burber, but it's it's real. It's what is
out there, Drew. And that's just one example and decades.
Speaker 5 (25:07):
What he said seventies seventy six, seventy six missed two
games just shows you how bad it's gotten. And they're
right about the atmosphere last week was worse. I'll give
him a little credit on this. I think they brought
my Guy Warren piece back. There was a little more
upbeat music, grocery was back, but still just overall, it's
it's not good. I know you mentioned Auburn and we
can't be Auburn. I get it, but you see some
(25:28):
of these other schools and it's like we're not even
in the same conference as them when it comes to
some of this stuff.
Speaker 6 (25:33):
But it's one thing to lose a casual fan, but
when you lose somebody that's been a fan to that
degree for so long that that's a problem.
Speaker 3 (25:40):
By the way, UK Athletics send out a bunch of
social media things saying, yeah, playing Grove Street like we
didn't play it the week before.
Speaker 4 (25:49):
I mean, it's it's not a you know you did.
Speaker 6 (25:52):
They didn't get the right situation out there wasn't the
right situation.
Speaker 4 (25:56):
But he was crazy.
Speaker 3 (25:57):
People were happy when they when they played it.
Speaker 4 (26:00):
One person rights, Matt.
Speaker 3 (26:01):
Do you think it was rude that Old miss fans
did a chant during my Old Kentucky Home? I talked
about this on the post game show. Honestly, no, I mean, what, like,
that's our song, but why should they.
Speaker 4 (26:16):
Care about it? YEP?
Speaker 3 (26:18):
I mean it's not again our state songs my old
Kentucky Home, but Tennessee state song is Rocky Top? Are
you gonna be respectful to Rocky Top just because it's
their state song?
Speaker 5 (26:27):
I do cast chance over the other team stuff. If
I'm somewhere, how.
Speaker 2 (26:31):
Many times on the road do we hear go Big
Blue while the other.
Speaker 3 (26:33):
We brag about so like we I mean, we treat
my old Kentucky home like it's the national anthem to us,
and I do too. I love it, but you can't
expect people that have no connection to it to do it.
It's not like the national anthem. So I mean, I
I can't be mad at them about it, but you
gotta be so good that they don't have anything to
(26:54):
cheer about it.
Speaker 6 (26:55):
It's embarrassing that they're louder than us.
Speaker 5 (26:58):
Singing was about a miss fans when on my walk back,
if you, oh, miss fans over the age of twenty five,
a lot of fun, gracious love Lexington under twenty five.
They were looking for trouble and it wasn't a small group.
I wouldn't be shocked if there were some stories of
fisticuffs after that game, because the ole miss kind of
the Friday College crowd. They were going around looking for
(27:19):
trouble out in that parking lot.
Speaker 4 (27:20):
They could have come to me, they'd gotten it, got it.
Speaker 6 (27:22):
Right, they could have gotten their picture taken.
Speaker 4 (27:26):
I don't want to play something.
Speaker 3 (27:28):
You may remember the story I talked about last week
where the woman in Whitesburg she found a drunk raccoon
and a dumpster and she gave it CPR and saved
its life.
Speaker 4 (27:39):
You remember that, yo?
Speaker 6 (27:40):
What it was to show that? Okay, that's quite a lot.
Speaker 4 (27:44):
Of great story. Well that's the story. It's a woman
fights a.
Speaker 6 (27:48):
Drunk raccoon in a dumpster dumpster.
Speaker 4 (27:50):
Pulls it out, gives it CPR, and saves its life.
I believe that in Kentucky. In Kentucky.
Speaker 3 (27:57):
So on ESPN for Matt and Myer and we're now
we're going back to having a celebrity guest picker every week.
Speaker 4 (28:03):
We picked a celebrity.
Speaker 3 (28:04):
I thought, who's better forget week one than the woman
who did it perfectly? That the woman from Kentucky who
saved the drunk raccoon that.
Speaker 4 (28:12):
Was in the dumpster.
Speaker 3 (28:14):
So we had her on and it's one of my
favorite things I've ever heard. And I couldn't just leave
it to the national audience. I have to play it
for our Kentucky folks. This is Misty Combs from Lecher County.
Remember this is on national radio, and I have to
tell you I've done a lot of interviews on ESPN,
never gotten more response. ESPN's thinking about putting it out
(28:36):
as a clip today. We'll see if they do it,
but either way, I'm playing it on this show. Here
is my interview, and listen for Myron giggling in the
background during this whole thing. Here's Misty, the woman who
saved the drunk RACCOONLMS.
Speaker 4 (28:50):
From Lecher County, Kentucky. Misty, how are you?
Speaker 11 (28:54):
I am great, all I'm.
Speaker 4 (28:57):
Doing wonderful, Misty.
Speaker 3 (28:58):
Now I read the store you this week found a
drunk raccoon in a dumpster and you gave it CPR.
It's an amazing headline. But give me quickly some details.
Speaker 11 (29:12):
Uh. So, the raccoon I found in a dumpster and
it had got so drunk it had fell over into
some water and it had drowned. And I was able
to get it out of the dumpster and it was
dead or close to dead. It was not breathing. So
I did CPR on it and I was able to
(29:33):
bring it back to life and it's living.
Speaker 3 (29:36):
Now that's awesome. Now let's go do got drunk? How
did it get you drunk?
Speaker 12 (29:43):
So?
Speaker 11 (29:43):
The dumpster was at a Moonshine Distillery, and they had
put their fermented peaches in that dumpster, and it had
got in there with one of its siblings, and it
had ate those peaches apparently all night, until it had
got so drunk it couldn't eat anymore.
Speaker 4 (30:06):
You like that, Miron That happened sometime. I just amazing,
amazing as amazing story.
Speaker 3 (30:14):
All right, So you see the drunk peach eating raccoon
and the dumpster. Most people would see that and just
keep walking. What made you decide to save it?
Speaker 11 (30:25):
Well, I'm a nurse and I'm also a mother, and
its mom was standing close by, and she was making
like some cheeter chatter noise, and I think she was
trying to get her attention, like she wanted us to
help it. And I mean, I'm an animal lover. So
I went over there and I got it, and I
just started doing chess compressions and beating on its back
(30:49):
a little to get that water out of its lungs,
and it finally started to breathing again.
Speaker 4 (30:56):
This is my favorite part. So you did seepr on
a racket?
Speaker 11 (31:01):
I did?
Speaker 4 (31:02):
I did? That is awesome, Misty, Seriously, you are a saint.
No one else would do that. So once it was over,
did it, thank you?
Speaker 11 (31:12):
Well, it was still drunk. So it's still the rest
of the day. And we've seen it to the the
future while life came and got it. But they brought
it back to me the next day. I was sort
of shocked they did that, and I got to turn
it loose back where its mom lives. They are at
the health department that I work at.
Speaker 4 (31:32):
That is awesome. We're good. You can stop with it.
You can stop it right there. Well, it was still drunk.
There you go.
Speaker 6 (31:42):
I've had some nights on moonshine. I thought they kind
of relate to this raccoon a little bit.
Speaker 7 (31:46):
Now.
Speaker 6 (31:46):
CPR would also imply mouth to mouth.
Speaker 3 (31:49):
New mouth to mouth, chest compression, and then according to her,
I don't know if this is scientific CPR beating on
its back. It worked though, I don't know if that's
if it's textbook, but I like it.
Speaker 2 (32:00):
Right she acts like that that's a regular occurrence, and
let your county act like you just do it. Let
your county.
Speaker 4 (32:05):
I loved it.
Speaker 3 (32:06):
I Drew absolutely loved the story, absolutely love Misty, and
I love that she got to be on national radio.
At first, my producers called her and asked her if
she would come on. She said no, she said I'm
not doing that. So then I was like, let me
call her. So I called her and I was like, Misty,
come on, this will be fun. And she goes, I
don't know anything about sports, and I said, who cares?
Speaker 4 (32:27):
Neither do I let's just do it.
Speaker 3 (32:30):
She then picked games with us Shannon. Every game she
would pick the team that was an animal.
Speaker 6 (32:36):
That makes sense, that checks out. She's an animal lover.
Speaker 3 (32:39):
So I think it was like Falcons Bucks, And I
said who you got? And she goes Falcons and I said, why, well,
it's a bird, of course, I.
Speaker 6 (32:47):
Thought she understands a buck's also an animal, right.
Speaker 2 (32:49):
Though, No, it's a buccaneer. It's like a pirate.
Speaker 3 (32:52):
Oh yeah, see, maybe you shouldn't act like you're so smart.
Speaker 6 (32:56):
I was thinking of Milwaukee Bucks.
Speaker 4 (32:57):
Yeah, it sounds like, see you think Milwaukee Points football.
Speaker 5 (33:01):
As good as the story was, her accent was the
best part though.
Speaker 2 (33:04):
Her saving How could you not love her after what
you just heard? That story right there?
Speaker 3 (33:09):
I love her and she Letcher County. It should be
very proud of a woman who sees a raccoon and says,
you know what, I'm gonna save it.
Speaker 6 (33:17):
I love it.
Speaker 4 (33:17):
That is not something that's the story of the year.
Speaker 5 (33:20):
She heard the chitner chatter from the mama.
Speaker 4 (33:21):
That's how she knew.
Speaker 2 (33:22):
So they take her to the Humane Society whatever for
it to sober up. It's like putting the drunk tank.
Speaker 4 (33:27):
That's program.
Speaker 3 (33:30):
Hey, when it's the final drive and you need to win,
go to Don Franklin's family of dealership. So for six
thousand new and pre owned dealerships, there's a bunch of
them right in this area. I know Somerset has them
and more. Go to Don Franklin's family. They're there to
serve all your auto needs. They got everything Chevy, Buick, Gym,
C Hunday, Nissan, Chrysler, Johde, Jeep, Ram, Kia, Mitsubisi, Ford,
Lincoln Gess. It's kind of like in Toyoday's all there
(33:51):
at the Don Franklin dealership.
Speaker 4 (33:53):
Steer your way over to.
Speaker 3 (33:55):
Don Franklin Auto dot com. I also like how she
knew it was their sibling. She saw they were really.
Speaker 2 (34:01):
Brother and sister out just getting Hamer Seedling, not siblings.
Speaker 4 (34:04):
Feebling.
Speaker 3 (34:05):
We'll take a break, very backs KSR.
Speaker 4 (34:09):
Water back.
Speaker 3 (34:10):
It is Kentucky Sports Radio eight five nine two eight
oh twenty two eighty seven. It's Somerset Golf Scrambles seven
seven two seven seven four five two five four. We
are a beautiful day here, ready to play some golf.
You're playing with what Drew Judge, Gabe Fleener and another Corey.
Speaker 4 (34:28):
Corey.
Speaker 5 (34:29):
He's got a team.
Speaker 3 (34:30):
He's ready to rock. And I'll be on eighteen here
with you. You're ready to do some putt.
Speaker 2 (34:34):
We'll probably knock down a few eagle putts for some
people today.
Speaker 3 (34:37):
This is a reachable par five and with always a
good time. You make about one putt a year.
Speaker 6 (34:42):
That should be good for one putt. Yeah, usually it's
a last scrambley is one for one very first one. Hey,
he should have stopped right there.
Speaker 2 (34:48):
It just walked away.
Speaker 4 (34:49):
Should have walked away?
Speaker 3 (34:49):
Eight five nine two aight oh twenty two eighty seven.
Speaker 4 (34:52):
Who's next?
Speaker 2 (34:52):
Rick flashes up?
Speaker 4 (34:54):
Next flash go ahead?
Speaker 8 (34:57):
Hey, Matt, do we think uh Bush Hampton go a
hold of some of those Letter County peaches.
Speaker 11 (35:01):
Saturday.
Speaker 8 (35:02):
I'm just trying to wrap my mind around what I witnessed.
Now I'm gonna start negative, but I'm gonna end positive,
So UH need to do a welfare check on my boy,
Drew Franklin. I'm a fellow UK football and Tennessee Titans fan,
so it was a rough weekend.
Speaker 3 (35:19):
Uh weekends brother practice, Yeah, just another oh two weekend,
but this one hit a little differently, just with the.
Speaker 8 (35:29):
Complete just coaching malpractice and incompetence. I just I still
I'm in shocked by what happened, but I'm oddly positive
because I think our biggest obstacle is not the opposing
team or players, it's our damn coaching staff on both
with both think how can an NTT coaching staff and
NFL coaching staff? How can that happen?
Speaker 3 (35:52):
I'm with you, it's a great question. But it's happened.
I appreciate it. Cauts happened a lot. It's happened a
lot over the last few years. And I don't know.
You know, what is it? You keep doing the same
thing over and over. It's the what's it called? There's
a saying about this. I can't think of it, but
the definition of insaaning that's exactly right. It's doing the
same thing over and over and expecting a different result.
And that's what's happened with us for a number of years,
(36:13):
and I don't know that it's gonna it's gonna stop. Hey, Rick,
we got some breaking news.
Speaker 4 (36:22):
Look at that.
Speaker 3 (36:25):
Uh UK releases its depth chart for Eastern Michigan and
Zach Calzada is still listed as the starter now, as
you you noted in the break that does it.
Speaker 4 (36:36):
Sometimes they just don't update it, which.
Speaker 3 (36:38):
By the way, is a perfect example of how they're
on top of things over there. So we'll see if
Mark Stoops says something different in the press conference, but
at least for now, the official depth chart says Kazakka.
Speaker 6 (36:49):
Right, the Eastern Michigan doesn't know what's gonna come at
him on Saturday. Yeah, I don't know why you wouldn't
update that. I think Cutter Bully clearly should be the
starting quarter.
Speaker 3 (36:58):
What if it is Zach kazak I don't think he
healthy enough to go this Saturday.
Speaker 4 (37:01):
What are you hearing? That sounds like a man who
has some scuttle buck.
Speaker 2 (37:04):
Yeah, he's he's got a shoulder injury. Like even if
he was number one, I don't think he could go
this weekend.
Speaker 5 (37:08):
I've been hang on, We've been here for an hour
and fifty minutes.
Speaker 4 (37:12):
By the way, just for the record, we've been here
an hour and fifteen.
Speaker 3 (37:14):
Minute, fifty minutes to the end of the ship said,
what looks to be something he knows? Would you like
to give us? Is this scoop or scuttle bus?
Speaker 2 (37:23):
Yeah? I think this scuttle bud scuttle buck?
Speaker 4 (37:25):
And what is the scuttle buck that cutters?
Speaker 2 (37:27):
It's Cutter's game. He's gonna start because Calzada, I don't
think is going to be healthy enough to go.
Speaker 4 (37:31):
So you're calling it Cutter is started.
Speaker 2 (37:33):
I would be shocked if he if it's something different.
Speaker 4 (37:36):
And you're saying that Zach Calzati is.
Speaker 2 (37:37):
Hurt, hurt, his shoulders hurt, so I think they want
to sit him out a week.
Speaker 4 (37:41):
So you're saying the depth chart's not correct.
Speaker 2 (37:43):
It's not correct at all.
Speaker 4 (37:44):
Can I just ask a quick question? Yeah? Why did
you wait till now to say that?
Speaker 2 (37:49):
I know we get to it eventually.
Speaker 5 (37:51):
Yeah, with the three minutes left in the show.
Speaker 6 (37:53):
Yeah, you know, I can't say everything you know in
the first five minutes of the show. What else would
you say the rest of the.
Speaker 4 (37:59):
Are you trying to make it like a novel with
a secret twist.
Speaker 2 (38:02):
At the end. Me personally, I wish they had gone
to Cutter in the second half. You come out of halftime,
You got all halftime to design an offense, and you
come out.
Speaker 3 (38:10):
And you get unbelievable to me, Like, you didn't tell
us that you were gonna wait, you just held that
in this entire time.
Speaker 2 (38:19):
Well, I think it was kind of understood everybody kind of.
I think it was started the show where you said,
like Mark said, we're going with Cutter. I want to
see Cutter. Well, did you think it was understood?
Speaker 6 (38:28):
No, No, not entirely. I thought it was clear though
that he would likely start, but I didn't have any
inside scoop.
Speaker 3 (38:35):
But the hurt part, yeah, I mean you're saying that
he's too hurt to play.
Speaker 2 (38:40):
I think they just want to give him a week's rest.
Speaker 5 (38:42):
Maybe you suttle Button.
Speaker 2 (38:44):
I'm scuttle Button.
Speaker 3 (38:45):
All I know you. I know how to read your brain.
It's it takes a translation, but I know that you
know something. I cannot believe you wait until the end
of the show. It was next Chester is next Chess,
Go ahead, Chester, Matt.
Speaker 13 (39:04):
I'm frustrated like everybody else, but I want to just
say something. And I do think it is time for
everybody in the.
Speaker 7 (39:10):
Big Blue Nations look look at it, look look it.
Speaker 13 (39:12):
Over and evaluate their heart about this, because here's the situation.
There was four minutes to go in that game, Matt,
we were down one possession, they had lost their starting quarterback.
We're kicking the ball to them, going to their backup,
and two thirds of the stadium walked out on them.
(39:34):
You can say what you want to say about all
the things that need to be changed, and I'll agree,
from the screens to the music, whatever it is. But
one thing you cannot say is that those boys quit.
And I want to encourage everybody to look in the
mirror and if you if you're going to quit on
the cat, then yes you should stay home. You should
because those boys did not quit. There was eight seconds left,
(39:58):
We had an onside kick that if we get it,
we have a chance at the end zone to tie
that game. And I'm just I'm just saying, we are
a lot of negative things on here about this program
and all this and that, and fine, fine, we all
need to get better. We all need to get better,
and we need to look ourselves in the mirror.
Speaker 14 (40:18):
Listen, if you if you got you've given your whole guy.
You went for the money. You got four minutes to
go and we still got a chance to win it.
Cutter Bowley coming in, who everybody's complaining needs to be
in there, and you're gonna pick your stuff up and
walk right out on them.
Speaker 13 (40:31):
That's somebody's pat down there.
Speaker 14 (40:32):
You're just walking turning your back on them.
Speaker 9 (40:34):
Mat And I think that we need as a fan base.
Speaker 14 (40:37):
We couldn't be complaining about what I didn't tweet about
the player's name. We don't know about them. We need
to get over it.
Speaker 7 (40:44):
You're either in or you're out.
Speaker 12 (40:46):
You're a big clue, or you're.
Speaker 4 (40:47):
Not appreciate the college to us.
Speaker 2 (40:50):
Jeff, Yeah, beautiful call call today right there?
Speaker 3 (40:53):
Oh so you agree? I agree with you. Really, that's
again the light. You haven't said that. For the first
hour and fifty five minutes.
Speaker 2 (41:00):
We entered the stadium, we were still kind of in
the game. Yeah, it'd been frustrating, but you're still in
the game. Why did everybody leave there towards the end?
Speaker 4 (41:05):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (41:06):
It was odd, But I mean I told you, I
said on the pust Game show, I'm not criticizing the fans.
I'm not for this, but I chest are giving a
good alternate opinion. Got about a minute quickly chest or

Speaker 12 (41:27):
Play that changed the whole complexion of the game. And
that was the first quarter with fourth down and inches,
and they threw like a thirty yard completion one line
and they scored. And that from that pouring on it
was the hole it was at play.
Speaker 3 (41:43):

Speaker 4 (42:13):
What you got.
Speaker 2 (42:14):
They don't lose, and they honor the eighty five Bears.
Speaker 4 (42:16):
Man, they didn't come here to start, No shuffle. They're
gonna win tonight.
Speaker 6 (42:20):
They are gonna leave tonight. Vikings win tonight, Vikings.
Speaker 5 (42:23):
I'm a believer in the Bears, Luther Burton, watch out
for him.
Speaker 4 (42:27):
We got it.
Speaker 3 (42:27):
My name is Sweetness, and I like to dance and
running the balls, like making romance. Tonight against the Vikings,
you can't lose. Thank you all very much. This has
been the KSR at the Somerset Golf Scramble. We'll see
