going on. First of all, we have to talk about football,
probably not gonna be a positive conversation. We have to
talk about football rumors that coaches leaving, which is not
easy to do when the AD's office is a few
steps from us. Right that wall, there's the athletic director.

It's basketball media day, and for reasons that I don't understand,
we have no players or coaches coming on with us.

But that's the way it goes. It's media day. It
is media day.

But you know what, today, I give them credit for
for letting us be here. There have been times that
they've stood outside the gates with weapons to keep us out.

We don't get to talk to anyone, but nevertheless we're here,
and that way we can go to the media day
as soon as it's over. Hopefully, I'm hoping that Mark
Pope or one of the coaches will be sitting in
the staff and someone will say, you know what, they're
right there on the other side of that wall. They're
right there, because I think if they get that message
to them, I do think they would come.

But either way, we're here, and honestly, in the first
hour we probably we're gonna have to talk some football
to begin with. But Drew, it's always cool to be
at media day. The first one of these I went
to was the two thousand and five, two thousand and
six team. I'm trying to think who was even on
that team. That was after the whole Bogan's crew and
all that people. Those people had gone. It was like

And I've been I think this is my twentieth one.

It's always fun getting to know the new players. It's
getting a little different where there's some returners now. For
many years we were literally meeting the entire team for

If not, I don't want to say incorrect report, but
incorrect report, I mean, it wasn't well because I don't
want to say I mean, I'm sure Alan heard that.
I'm not disparaging that he heard that, but I don't
think that happened. I think in you know, A better
way to characterize is they had a meeting, there was
some disputes over some things, and Mark may have said, look,
you know, if you don't think this will work out,
you can buy me out. That's not the same as

going and saying I want out, which is kind of
what I think Alan said, which I think was not
the case.

And I don't know the specifics of when the conversation happened,
who went to who, what exactly said, even though those
are big details. I just remember last season at one
point I heard from a couple of people in the
know that Mark would be willing to take a buy
out if they could get to a number, but UK
just nowhere near that, and that was kind of all
that was. Maybe there was more, but at least on

my end of what I heard was Mark was willing
to listen. Now I don't know if he approached Mitch
first or what, and then that they just couldn't get anywhere,

and say buy me out. Now, I agree with you.
If they said, okay, we owe you forty million dollars,
we'll give you thirty nine not to coach. I'm sure
he would take that right. But you know, this season

he wants to see this through and finish it, even

have a lot of optimism and how that will look.

have a bye week, and we talked on the postgame
show on Saturday about how you know, if you're gonna
make any kind of change, you would do it like today.
Now we got media Day, which is probably not something
they want to stomp on. So maybe you I mean,
I don't know, maybe you wait till tomorrow, but your

who put online that Mark Stoops was going to be
let let go today. People, for whatever reason just believe
that I don't understand all you have to do shit
and just put like Kentucky and then something relating to
the word news in your bio and then people are like, well, yeah.

this is in sports. The people fall for it. Like
if you just wear a suit in your profile picture
and put like four letters like WVGT, people are be like, well,
this guy they work for WVGT. This guy's reporting that
they're canceling the season.

My concern is that was early in the season. I
worry about just how the locker room will be when
you get to Florida, because I think Florida's beatable. But
if you still haven't won at that point and Texas
and Tennessee have kicked your butt, I wonder just how
focused Kentucky's gonna be at that point.

You could end Arch Manning's draft prospect in two weeks. Yeah,

last season. It's their one and done year. If you
get to the end of November and you haven't won
a game yet, I wonder about Kentucky keeping its focus.

this at the end of the sideline, at the end

of guys on the sideline. That didn't look good. And

have a big crowd for Texas. You're gonna have a
big crowd for Tennessee, and you're probably gonna have a
decent crowd for Florida. Although Florida doesn't travel like these
other schools, but it's still Florida. So I think I
think to the extent, there's gonna be a statement crowd.
It's gonna be Tennessee Tech and unfortunately that's homecoming. Uh

Madison Square Garden or something the night before, Like that's

one will be a good crowd, and it Florida. I
think we'll see, but at that point it's so far

That's the most incriminating thing on the coaching staff that

the combination of wasting time and then not seizing the moment.

do not play smart.

not let them review it. We don't get the playoff

and just snap it as quickly as he can to
anything so you can lock that in. But once again,
only one person are nineteen year old redshirt freshman is
