October first. I'm Shannon, the dude whoa on the Clark's
Puppet shot fall on a five nine two eight oh
twenty two eighty seven the A Vision text machine, which
I do not know if we have or not. We'll
find out in just a minute. But that number is
five oh two seven thirty five thirty six eighty nailed it.
Speaker 3 (00:51):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (00:52):
We've also got what is it our our whiskey thief
call of the Day. Okay, and alright you said that
one o ye, And of course the KSR appreciation It
brought to you by the losses of TJ. Smith. If
you call it TJ. He'll make them pay. We're live
in Bullet County, which we've done some shows in Bullet
County in the past. Guys, but I don't think we've
(01:12):
ever done a show live from Mount Washington.
Speaker 4 (01:16):
I don't think so either. You're right, yeah, so this
is the first one you've been in Shepherdsville. Yep, yep,
not in Mount Washington.
Speaker 2 (01:21):
So welcome guys. We got Ryan Lemon, Drew Franklin here
with us in the garage bar and uh, guys, welcome
to Mount Washington. We got you some donuts. Ryan. I
know that you wanted some donuts. I'm sure after your
your complete failure of the donut contest at your house
last time, the donate donut eating contest. So I got
you some donuts, got you some chocolate milk. You ready
(01:43):
to go?
Speaker 4 (01:43):
I'd here's your iPad? Yeah here, yeah, Well we said
this yesterday. You know we've done a show at Drew's house. Ye,
We've done shows at my house, the donut show, We've
done lots of shows at Matt's house. We've never done
a show at Shannon's house. And when Matt left, he said, look,
you guys do do whatever you want the show, go
wherever you want, do whatever you want. So Drew and
I were talking, like, let's go to Shanna's man cave.
(02:05):
Let's do one in Shannon's man cave for a change.
So I did get the donuts you bought, especially from
the place here in Mount Washington, Donut King, Shotnut Donut King.
So I had my first real full donut. Yeah, it's
the donut challenge. Yeah, kept it down.
Speaker 2 (02:18):
So so far, so good. I love your place, man,
it's awesome in here. Thank you. Yeah, this was, you know,
supposed to be a garage for show cars. My dad
had this house. He said he had like two Camaros
in here.
Speaker 4 (02:28):
Two corvettes, corvettes, and then well when I moved in here,
I don't have anything except for a jeep.
Speaker 2 (02:32):
So I thought, you know what, I got all this
extra space. Drew might as well just started into a
man cave. And as you can imagine, I've got a
couple of TVs up. You know, we got the games
on at nights. When I'm just sitting here, all the
neighbors just sort of congregate over here, and you know,
some of them a little little halfway lit up. Drew
just walking over here and just kind of stumble in
and they've got their own tub right here. It's like
a garage bar in the neighborhood.
Speaker 5 (02:53):
It is very inviting, it's very nice in here. You
have an amazing bar. You mentioned you you've got that
from a real bar in Lexington. Yeah, the Twist, The
Twist at Cork. It's really nice.
Speaker 2 (03:02):
And Lexington was renovating their bar. They decided we want
to get rid of this bar. They had it on
Facebook Marketplace for like six hundred bucks. So how did
you get it from Lexington to here? That's a big
bar in the back of my jeep. No, I got
a U haul, had to So this was a whole
production this day, so it was first come, first serve.
(03:23):
So my dilemma first of all was that's a really
nice bar for a really nice price. But I'm gonna
have to drive all the way from Mount Washington to
Lexington and just hope the thing is there. So I
tried to contact the sellers and say, hey, can you
hang on to that. They're like, no, we can't really
do that. So I just had to take a shot
in the dark, take a chance, drive all the way
to Lexington. Then when you get there. Of course you
got to go get a U haul. So I'm like,
(03:44):
I'm here, here's the money. You know, just hang on
to it. Little did I know. When I was going
from the twisted cork bar to get the U haul
to rent, another guy tried to come in and buy
that bar from underneath me. I try to undercut you.
You can imagine how upset I would have been if
I'd spent a couple of hundred bucks on a U
haul and while I'm going to rent the U haul,
(04:05):
some other guy the bar on. So luckily they were
nice enough to actually hang on to the bar. We
got it here. Took quite a few friends to bring
this thing in. We had to pick it up and
load it in here. I mean that is I think
a thirteen foot long bar. It's big about here. It's big. Yeah,
it looks awesome in here. It's perfect.
Speaker 4 (04:23):
You got your your cager Raiders set up. Where's the
Phoenix Hill fountain? I don't have the fountain. The fountain's
at the other house. Oh, you had to leave it there.
Speaker 2 (04:30):
You had to leave it there. Well, Well, the inner
parts of the fountain are still with me. It's out
there in the shed.
Speaker 5 (04:34):
Okay, mountains always yeah, right, but the bricks.
Speaker 2 (04:39):
The bricks are still there at the got you now now, guys?
You you yesterday Drew. It was your game. Let's come
up with things that we think might be in Shannon's garage.
Speaker 5 (04:48):
Yeah, fun game.
Speaker 2 (04:49):
Yeah, And I think was it your suggestion of something Fizzoli's.
Speaker 5 (04:54):
Yes, I thought you would either have some form of
bread warmer or for special events. Maybe you actually paid
some to walk around with a basket and tongs hanging
out breadsticks. But I assume something breadstick related.
Speaker 2 (05:04):
You were close. So instead of that, I've got a
Fazzoli's breadstick scented candle, which we've got lit right now.
It smells like garlic bloodsticks.
Speaker 5 (05:14):
This is too close to me.
Speaker 2 (05:15):
Well, we can move it away.
Speaker 5 (05:17):
I'm actually starting to choke up on the GARLICA.
Speaker 4 (05:19):
Well, we can move it away. As soon as you
lit it, we all like, oh, I smell it. It
was like amazing, you can smell it as quickly.
Speaker 2 (05:24):
I want to get it away from you, guys, because
the last thing I want to do is catch anybody
on fire, because we've already had one injury that already
occurred this morning. I heard that on the pre show.
So you know, like in factories, a lot of times
they'll put up on like a big board and it'll
say like twenty days since our last incident. Yeah, we
got to reset it at zero zero because Billy came
(05:45):
in and immediately started rummaging through all of my personal belongings,
including over here in the corner these golf clubs that
haven't been touched in twenty years. There is a this
is how old and outdated my golf clubs are. I've
got a wooden club in there, a wooden drive, and
Billy was just he looked like he had seen a
dinosaur or something. He's like, oh my gosh, there's a
(06:05):
hickory wooden club in your in your cake, in your bag.
So as he's pulling out this golf club. Right above
it is a metal Vanderbilt logo and it's a star
logo and it's very very sharp, like you could you
could stay, you could kill somebody with that that that
could be a murder with it, like a big throwing star.
So Vanderbilt logo is a big star and it's all
(06:26):
made out of metal. And as he was pulling up
that wooden club out of the golf bag. He stabs
himself with the corner of that metal star and immediately
starts bleeding all over my garage. So luckily we I
was telling Billy earlier, I don't know how to start
a tourniquet on somebody, but I felt like he was
gonna bleed out here in front of us and our
next door neighbor over here. Robert went over there and
(06:48):
he got a bandage for Billy. So Billy has already
bandaged up. I mean that was before the pre show
even started today. So we're off to a little bit
of a rough start. But if you guys will just,
you know, stay where you're at, stay seated. I promise
you you won't get injured here Ryan, I know, I.
Speaker 5 (07:03):
Noticed when I walked in, Billy is like Rick James
up on your cow train. He's got his shoes on,
but they're up on the top push he's laid back.
Is that because of the injury or he just really
coming down and flopped down like that? Make himself at home, Billy?
Speaker 2 (07:16):
Is he really is? He's making himself at home. He
came in, he immediately demanded that I make him my
hazelnut coffee, which I did. I was trying to be
a good host, you know, I said, I brought donuts
in and everything for you guys. But Billy just comes
in and just acts like he owns the place, which
is fine. That's fine.
Speaker 4 (07:28):
Well because after he calls TJ, he is gonna own
this place. He's gonna make me injured on your property.
TJ's gonna make you pay. Billy's gonna own this man case.
Speaker 5 (07:37):
I don't want to go any further without finding out
if he has the vision Glass text machine. We can't golass.
Speaker 2 (07:41):
Thank thank you for that, Drew. Yes, okay, we need
to go back to this because this has been a
problem the last several days of you not bringing the
a vision Glass text machine, which is a brand new
shiny iPhone, which you still don't have a case for.
Get a case for that case for it, Mario.
Speaker 5 (07:56):
I don't like to look in his eyes.
Speaker 2 (07:57):
I need to know do you or do you know
have it? Do you did you remember it? Is it
still on your night stand on the charger? Where is
the phone right now?
Speaker 4 (08:05):
The worst thing yesterday is when Drew brings it up
Alan Anderson from a V's and Glass is sitting right.
Speaker 5 (08:10):
The worst thing is not Drew bringing it up. The
worst thing is you not bringing it. Yeah, don't don't
bring through into this.
Speaker 2 (08:16):
This is a is your accountability.
Speaker 4 (08:19):
They gave me this phone to use the text machine
while Matt is out of the country. Matt's text machine,
the text machine we normally use, is on his phone.
So everys and Glass brought this phone. I forgot to
take it to buy water Farm. I forgot it Monday.
We were with Dusty Bonner, for got it yesterday with
Richie and Buck. So coming to your house today, is.
Speaker 2 (08:39):
It in my pocket?
Speaker 3 (08:40):
Do you have it?
Speaker 2 (08:41):
I got got itxt machine is here alright.
Speaker 4 (08:48):
And is charged up. It's been on the charger for
a week without messages. I probably got a lot of message.
Well everything is Mark Stoops, fire Marks Stoops, fire Bush
Hampden has that?
Speaker 2 (08:57):
Then get on there is lighting it up? And does
it go all night? Because people listen to the podcast. Yeah,
so this is the podcast he said, I want to
go ahead and take text the text machine though. Yeah,
so yeah, it does. It doesn't stop all right, So
we do this everywhere we go. Notable athletes, there's not
many from Mount Washington. I've got one. Do you know
any notable athletes from Mount Washington, Kentucky.
Speaker 4 (09:19):
Uh, there's a guy by the name who's a pitcher
named Shannon Grigsby that pitched for Bellerman College Bellman University.
Speaker 2 (09:24):
I don't think that's very notable. As a matter of fact,
I went to the Mount Washington Wikipedia page. Yeah, they
have notable people on there. I'm not on there.
Speaker 5 (09:32):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (09:33):
I'm not even on there. Wow. I guess I'm not
notable enough to make the Mount Washington, Kentucky Wikipedia page.
Of course. Derek Willis from Bullet East, Yes, and I
think that's it. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (09:46):
The Bullet East football team did win the state title
a couple of years ago. Six a state title just
a couple of years ago.
Speaker 2 (09:52):
That's right. You got that going. Yeah, and I'm trying
to think of anything else that Mount Washington has done
that's that's notable. June Bug Rakes Sun was on that
team with Derek Willis. Yeah. Yeah, Okay.
Speaker 5 (10:03):
The coffee I got on my way in maybe he's
the worst coffee I've ever gotten it.
Speaker 2 (10:06):
Where did you get the coffee at?
Speaker 5 (10:07):
It's from a nice I won't name the company, but
it is a It's a coffee shop based out of
Seattle Green logo lady long hair on it. Wow, long wait,
long wait at the local local starves here?
Speaker 2 (10:19):
Did you go the one at Kroger?
Speaker 5 (10:21):
Yeah, that's why I was a little late. You saw
me come in in two wills here in your neighborhood.
Speaker 2 (10:25):
Oh, we have, you know, some local coffee shops around here.
This is God's Country.
Speaker 5 (10:28):
I don't know that I've actually been through Mount Washington.
I passed, like the the downtown. There's Terry Queen, there's
Ox Smoker's outlet.
Speaker 2 (10:37):
We got our own brewery here. We're big show. I
didn't see the brewery, so I'm telling yeah, yeah, I did.
Speaker 5 (10:41):
Like the food truck park that looked neat.
Speaker 2 (10:42):
Yep, uh, Sissy's Tacos. I'm just shouting out all the
businesses in Mount Washington. We got Gallant Fox Brewery. But
I'm telling you that is a big deal for Mount
Washington because I grew up in Mount Washington and we
had nothing here. And now this is basically turned into
an extension of Louisville. Like it's it's just become overcrowded
and they continue to add businesses and you got we've
got a sports bar out here now like that that's
(11:04):
big time for us because back then when I was
growing up, we didn't have anything. We didn't even have
the bypass, Like if you wanted to go from Lowell
to Mount Washington, you had to take the old Bardstown
Road to get there. And now we got this bypass,
which is now you know, opened up traffic a little bit,
but it is still though. We have way too many
people in this city for what it can hold, Like
it is too small of a town to have this
(11:25):
many people.
Speaker 4 (11:26):
I talk to your dad and what you guys are
doing the pre show, and he said he remembers it
was such a big deal in this town. Got that
first dairy queen. Oh yeah, I got to day queen.
That was like a huge deal. We're growing, Yeah, it was.
It was a Druthers back us. Yeah, if you remember brothers.
Oh the biscuits and chicken. If you want you to
get chicken and biscuits.
Speaker 2 (11:42):
That's right. So we're gonna have a fun time today
two eighty seven. I thought Richie and Buck were awesome yesterday.
Really enjoyed having those guys on, and I always love
hearing Richie talk about his time at Kentucky and going
to practice playing for Rick Patino. Yeah, and hearing those
stories of how hard those Rick Patino practices are. I
(12:02):
feel like drew a lot of what Mark Pope does
is kind of what Rick Patino. You know, how he
was as a coach when Pope played for Patino back
in the day.
Speaker 5 (12:10):
Yeah, we hear those war stories. I liked hearing about
how he had quit the team and then ended up
sitting in Rick's basement. Rix like, well, I quit too.
That was pretty funny. But also, you know, I know
Buck doesn't have the recognition of a richie, but anytime
Buck chimes in on anything, I can't help but laugh.
He is so funny. And when you get those two
together telling the stories together, like when they were talking
(12:30):
about their youth, I don't even know the stuff they're
talking about. It's like, well, hung it up with a
piece of seagrass, and you know, we're playing from a
railroad tied. I'm like, I can't even picture what they're
talking about, but I could listen to them tell those
stories forever.
Speaker 2 (12:42):
Yeah, chasing the ball down the hill and Richie said, well,
I didn't have to chase it that much because I
didn't miss that much.
Speaker 4 (12:47):
Just listen to those guys talk. Their accent and the
way they talk and just kind of bounce off each other.
I think was very entertaining yesterday.
Speaker 2 (12:53):
I loved it.
Speaker 5 (12:53):
And they're late because the blacktopping. I like that blacktopping.
Speaker 2 (12:57):
That's right. So always good to have those guys on.
We need to bring them back maybe next time. Matt's
out as well. Now, speaking of Matt, do we have
an update from Matt. I know, Drew, you've been doing
some of these podcasts with Matt the last couple of days.
I haven't heard anything.
Speaker 5 (13:09):
I'm looking at Billy here, Billy is Billy's I go
through Billy to get to Matt. So you are I
think I think he might. We might be rogue Today
on cover zero, we're figuring that out might be a
Me and Billy show.
Speaker 2 (13:19):
So my dad actually brought this story up this morning
because I didn't see it in the news, but apparently
in South Africa just yesterday there was someone who was
on a safari and got attacked by an elephant and
held underwater by this elephant. She did survive. It was
it was a female, But I just saw a person
(13:40):
and an African safari and elephant attacking someone and I thought,
oh my god, did we lose our boy Matt Jones
to an elephant attack. I started reading into the details
a little bit. Apparently this person got a little too
close to the elephant calves called calves, and then I realized, well,
Matt hates babies, so there's no way that maw will
get close to or the water. That's that's true. So
(14:03):
but I saw that, I was like, Oh my gosh,
what what's going on in South Africa? You know, I
worry about Matt. You said he was in a tent. Yeah,
and I can't just envision our boy Matt can't either,
even if it's glamping. I can't imagine Matt being in
a tent. I agree.
Speaker 5 (14:17):
I didn't know this elephant story. We were actually supposed
to do something yesterday at four and we ended up
not doing it. I definitely would have assumed he was
underneath the elephant at that point. But when I haven't
seen the tent, I just knowing Matt, I assume it's
like the Ritz Carlton of tents.
Speaker 2 (14:30):
Gotta be right.
Speaker 5 (14:31):
It's probably a big room with a king bed that
just happens to have like a.
Speaker 2 (14:34):
Sheet over the top of something memory foam Mattress.
Speaker 5 (14:38):
And he was able to live stream a radio show
from said tent with WiFi.
Speaker 2 (14:43):
Ice.
Speaker 5 (14:43):
Yeah, so, I mean it is cool that he's out
in the National Park and seeing animals, but Tint, I
think might be stretched a little bit on what he's staying.
Speaker 4 (14:51):
So if he's got WiFi doing his show, he's not
really roughing it rouughing in he's got I wouldn't think so.
Speaker 2 (14:57):
Yeah. Look, I can't really say much because I'm not
a camper either. I think I've been camping one time
and I did not like it. And I go, we
get a house two miles up the road. Why are
we sleeping on the ground and pretending like we don't
have ac just right up the road from here. So
I'm not a big camper myself, but I will worry
about our boy Matt. I'm glad he's gonna be back Friday,
and I guess he's gonna be back on a plane.
(15:18):
I guess tomorrow. The question is, well, the Cincinnati Reds
still be in the playoffs when he comes back. We'll
talk a little bit about that on the other side
of the break. And Ryan, before we go, though, you're
wearing this Red shirt. Yeah, I thought i'd better wear it.
My goodness, get my guy the buttons.
Speaker 5 (15:35):
You listen closely, you can hear that button screaming for help.
Speaker 2 (15:37):
Yeah, I thought i'd better wear it before the Red
season comes to an end. So where did you get that?
Speaker 4 (15:42):
I'm my son Michael played for the red when he
was twelve, So you're wearing a twelve year old jersey.
Twelve year old's jersey. He's now twenty three, so it's
eleven years old. Yeah, it's been in my closet untouched
for all that whole time.
Speaker 2 (15:53):
So why not that has got That's not even a
medium that that is a small jersey. Yeah, I can't
be comfortable. It's very very very nicely.
Speaker 4 (16:02):
Maybe Mario can get a picture of that and send
it out for everybody to see. Got my name on
the back so they know I used to play for
the Reds.
Speaker 2 (16:09):
Good. I wore this to Great American Ballpark. We went
up that day for batting practice. This is what I
this is what I wore. They could have used your
help last night. Yeah, we'll talk more about that, and
we'll talk to some Kentucky football and a whole lot more.
Eight five nine twenty two eighty seven. We are live
in Mount Washington, Kentucky, from my man cave. We'll be
right back. This is KSR. All right, welcome back. It
is Kentucky Sports Radio. We're live and Mount Washington. You know,
(16:32):
one of the cool things about living in this house,
this is the house I grew up in. Yeah, it
was just kind of cool. And all the neighbors that
are surrounding me have all been here since I was
a kid. Amazing. We got Robert over here, who has
been here since the nineties. Was a big Atlanta Braves fan.
That's how I kind of became a well sort of
how I became a Braves fan. But now he's a
he's a Cincinnati Reds fan. He's like, he's like, man, yeah, exactly.
(16:54):
We got Greg and Sheila over here across the street,
who have been here since the eighties. We got Ralph
and Dorothy cross the street here, Ralph Nor they're now
in their nineties. They've been there since I was a kid.
And then we've got Chris over here, who's been here
since I think the nineties as well. So it's kind
of cool. It's like it's almost like its own little sitcom.
All the characters are all the same that have been
here since I was a kid. Now, where's the famous
(17:15):
driveway where you became a Vanderbilt fan? Is it on
this streets your neighbor? Actually, right right there there used
to be a basketball goal right there where that white
car is. And I know this is radio so nobody
can see that.
Speaker 4 (17:26):
Yeah, but but yeah, that's where you became a Vanderbilt
fan because he wanted to be Kentucky and they just
played Vanderbilt the night before, so he made you b Vanderbilt.
Speaker 2 (17:34):
The rest is history, that's right. So let's talk a
little Kentucky football. We have to how are we going
to fix this football team? Guys?
Speaker 6 (17:41):
We got.
Speaker 2 (17:43):
Right now Kentucky too. And two, you got a gauntlet
of top twenty five teams coming up with Texas, Tennessee
Georgia on Saturday. I don't even know where to start.
The Cats are a twenty two and a half point dog,
I believe last time.
Speaker 5 (17:58):
I think it's come down a few points to like
twenty and a half. But yeah, you call it three touchdowns.
Speaker 2 (18:02):
I saw, you know, stop Bush Hampton talking about how
methodical the offense is. Drew, do you think that if
Kentucky has any chance on Saturday that they have to
just grind it out and play that slow Mark Stoop's ball,
or do you think that there's any chance that maybe
they just let Cutter start slinging it around. I don't
think that that's the case. It's just it's just a slow,
grind it out type game. I think that's probably Kentucky's
(18:24):
best chance. Yeah, and you know, I.
Speaker 5 (18:27):
Don't think they're gonna win. But of all teams that
they've played well over, even even the last couple of years,
and they haven't been winning SEC games. You beat or
you lost to Georgia bout like one at home last year,
three at home a couple of years before that. You
have similar styles. They're just much better at it, much
more talented. So I think Kentucky might be kind of
(18:49):
in the game if you have turnovers like you did
a week ago. Yeah, but I think for a little
while they'll hang around. But I just I when you
don't have a quarterback, and I don't think Calzada or
Cutter have proven that they're quite ready yet, I just
don't see how you can go down there and really
have a chance at Georgia, especially Georgia coming off that loss.
They're not gonna, you know, run up the score or anything.
(19:11):
But there you're You're not gonna snook up on Georgia
for sure. They're motivated to correct their their loss last week.
Speaker 2 (19:18):
Ryan, if your mark stoops, let's say Cutter struggles again
against Georgia, how long do you stick with Cutter? Is
Cutter going to be the guy regardless of what happens
for the rest of the season, or do you maybe
just kind of take it game by game? But I
don't think you can do that this far into the season.
I mean, we'relready getting close to the halfway point.
Speaker 4 (19:35):
The crazy thing is, after this Georgia game, Kentucky has
another bye week, so have two weeks before the Texas game.
Speaker 2 (19:43):
So I don't think you make a move.
Speaker 4 (19:44):
I think you just let Cutter take these growing pains
right now, take his licks, just continuing again, let him
get as many reps as possible in practice, and hopefully
he can get put it together by the end of
the season. You know, Georgia has beaten Kentucky fifteen times
in a row. Jeez, But like Drew said, last year
was thirteen to ten. They only beat Kentucky about one
point a Kroger Field. They because Kentucky and Georgia kind
(20:06):
of played similar, you know, they like to we have
that same offensive philosophy the Stoops and Kirby Smart both have.
I think that it enables Kentucky at least to kind
of keep it closer than most people think.
Speaker 2 (20:14):
You know, Drew. We saw in the preseason the rankings
that came out that were talking about Kentucky's talent like
a raw talent, and they ranked I think, like in
the top thirty. So if Kentucky has a top thirty
raw talent team, what is the issue is it? Is
it a coaching issue more so than the players or
what do you think? Like, where's that hang up with
(20:35):
this team?
Speaker 5 (20:35):
Coaching is a big part of it. Also just the
way you built the roster. I'm trying to pull this
up on the fly because I haven't layed eyeballs on
it yet. But someone right as we started, ESPN ranked
the every quarterback in the country in Kentucky's is dead last.
Speaker 2 (20:49):
Wow.
Speaker 5 (20:50):
Cutter Bowlius numbers all.
Speaker 4 (20:52):
Power four quarterbacks one through sixty eight. Yeah, Cutter and
Kazada are both ways.
Speaker 5 (20:56):
That's part of your answer there they combined Bowley Calzada.
But you're sixty eight out of sixty eighth at least
in this and you know it's hard to disagree with
that right now.
Speaker 2 (21:05):
So I don't know.
Speaker 5 (21:07):
You know, it's weird when, like yesterday, they say things like, well,
you know, when we get behind, we're just not a
team that could come back. Yeah, what do you mean
that's part of football? Why did you build a team
that can't come back from down eleven?
Speaker 2 (21:17):
Yeah? Or when we get to third and.
Speaker 5 (21:19):
Eight, you know, it's just tough for us to pick.
It's like, what do you well, why is your team
assembled to where you can't do that? You know, it's
things like that that it goes back to not just
players not playing well, it's like, well, what did you
even build if you're not even able to do that?
Speaker 2 (21:32):
To the point to where the only part of our
team I truly believe in is our running backs. Yeah,
that's it.
Speaker 5 (21:37):
I mean.
Speaker 2 (21:37):
Other than that, I feel like when Kentucky got down
and what we've talked about this on Monday, when Kentucky
was down with twenty eight to ten at halftime, I
thought it's over. I didn't think that Kentucky's offense even
had the power, the firepower to be able to come
back from that type of deficit. So I feel like,
if Kentucky is going to end, they've got to keep
these games twenty points or less. And it was like
(21:59):
that last you're drew.
Speaker 5 (22:00):
That's what stinks the most. Even after those two turnovers,
which are crazy, back to back defensive touchdowns that just
doesn't happen. Yea, but even after that, it's only twenty
one to ten in the first half. But as a
Kentucky fan, twenty one to ten is it's over. Yeah,
it's a good night. But I get this is football.
It shouldn't be that a ten point lead is just insurmountable,
but as at Kentucky, that seems to be the case.
Speaker 2 (22:23):
So, Ryan, how do you get to six Georgia, Texas
Tennessee win one, Auburn Florida Tennessee Tech Vandy went to
beat Louisville, or maybe you get three out of that
Auburn Florida Tennessee Tech Vandy. But that's gonna be tough.
Speaker 4 (22:37):
I think if you're the most optimistic Kentucky fan, you
gotta think you got a chance to get Florida. At home,
you get Tennessee Tech yep. So you're sitting at four yep.
The other two I think are going to be hard
to get a five, nine, two eighth. Twenty two eighty seven.
We're gonna take a break. We'll be right back. We
are live in Mount Washington, Kentucky. It is Kentucky's Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (22:57):
Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio, or live from
my main cave, Mount Washington. Twenty two eighty seven is
the Clarks Puppet Shop phone line. Alex writes and says,
I was at the crowm Winery. I forgot we have
a winery here too, so we got a brewer winery.
That's right, said, I was at the winery for a
(23:17):
wedding this weekend. It was disappointed that I didn't see
a sign coming into town stating home of Shannon the dude. No,
if I can't make the Wikipedia page, I'm not gonna
be able to make the Only Matt Jones gets that
type of honor, you know, when you roll into the
Bell County home of Matt Jones, and who was the
other one? Who's the other selector? That's right? So no,
I don't I don't get that. Uh, A little breaking
(23:40):
news for you and Andrew being Braves fans. It was
just announced that Brian Snicker, the Braves manager, will not
return as the manager and will transition into an advisory role.
You know, the Braves, having the talent that they have,
finishing fourth in the NL East, something had to be done.
They have way too much talent not to make the playoffs.
(24:02):
And now Brian Snicker is going to be stepping down.
Can we bring back Bobby Cox please? Please?
Speaker 5 (24:07):
I mean they actually this would be Bobby three point
zero because they brought Bobby backs once already. Yeah, you're
right though. When the season started they were, if not third,
maybe fourth in the World Series odds behind the Dodgers,
maybe a couple others. Like we legit thought we were
going to be contending. And then there were some early
injuries early in the season, lost your entire starting rotation.
(24:30):
That's that stunk, and I you know, we'll give you
a few losses there, but to finish where they did
at the complete bottom, Yeah, major leagues is unacceptable. So
it had to happen right there at the bat. They
have way too much talent. It's been going well for
several years and then to just bottom out the season
it had you had to make a move.
Speaker 2 (24:47):
Yeah, right down there with the Nationals and the Pirates.
And the Pirates, I'm convinced just will never be good
in baseball, just never. They got the best pitcher in
the National League and they can't again. I almost feel
bad for him that he plays like he could be
really good, Gonna end up with the Yankees, just like
all the good things. Now, speaking of baseball, let's talk
a little baseball. We really haven't hit on the fact
that the Reds got destroyed last night by the Dodgers.
(25:10):
I kind of felt like this was gonna happen. Otani
had two home runs and one hundred. Green was just
out there throwing VP Ryan he was he was doing
batting practice.
Speaker 4 (25:19):
He threw against the Dodgers one month ago in five innings,
gave up five runs, two home runs. Last night, he
didn't even make it to five innings, like three innings.
We already gave up eight runs, two home runs. It
was amazing Otani hit two home runs. That taoscar guy
hit two home runs. He was it was batting practice.
Speaker 2 (25:37):
Or the Reds gonna be out of the playoffs before
Matt could even get back to South Africa, because I
feel like that's what's going to get in and out
of the playoffs.
Speaker 5 (25:43):
Yeah, well, I guess tonight their starting pitcher has given
up the most runs of anyone in baseball, and then
you're facing the Dodgers, who lead in all the hitting sets.
I don't have a lot of faith. Yeah, I was
just telling y'all during the break, I'm weird. I went
the full regular season, and this is the case every year, Yeah,
without watching a full baseball game, Like did not sit
(26:04):
and watch a game from start to finish. But for
some reason, when the playoffs start, I lock in, starting
at one o'clock yesterday through now. I did cut the
Reds game off, will early go to sleep. But I
mean I was locked into every baseball game and loved
every minute. But I was so looking forward to the
Reds and I stepped outside of the I went to
like brush my teeth. I was gone like three minutes
and I come back and it's just ball game. I
missed the whole. I guess they scored one run earlier,
(26:26):
but I mean the whole. Was it back to back?
I was like, yeah, I completely missed the fun so
that game. Zero interested in it after that happened.
Speaker 2 (26:34):
I don't think that you're weird that you do that.
I think a lot of fans probably do that. And
I'm kind of like that with the NBA, Like I
don't really watch a whole lot of regular season NBA games,
but then with the playoffs roll around, Ryan, I'm locked in.
I'm watching all the games.
Speaker 4 (26:45):
Well, you know, you know our baseball guys. I love
watching playoff baseball, There's no doubt about it. But last
night I could not stay up after the Dodgers jumped
on top of them there, I knew there was no
coming back in the reds Uh. You know the one
thing I want to I ski about the Dodgers. Mookie
Betts is a Gold Glove All Star outfielder. They moved
him to shortstop this year and now he's a Gold
Glove potential winner in shortstop.
Speaker 2 (27:07):
You know, Dude's amazing. They make such a big deal
about guys in baseball like playing different positions. Thinking, Okay,
I'm sure these guys have played those positions at some
point in their life. It's not like Mookie Bits doesn't
know how to play shortstop. If I want to be
grew up playing the infield. Sure, maybe not the major
league level, and there is a little bit of difference
I'm sure in that for sure. But I mean, if
you know how to play left field, you know how
(27:28):
to play left field, Drew. So I don't I don't
really understand why they make that big of a deal
out of it. Now, Ryan, I want to focus on
you for a minute, because I understand you had a
grease fire at your house. You had a party, and
you had a grease fire, and you were you were
growing out, yes, and you thought that the solution to
putting out the grease fire would be to get a
(27:48):
bucket of water and dump it on the grease spire.
Cup of water. Yeah, and how'd that go for? It worked?
It did work? Yeah, it worked.
Speaker 3 (27:56):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (27:56):
We had the postal work end of summer in the
summer pool party for was a ks bar. Servers and bartender.
They will the kind of invited themselves. They want to
have a bull party. I'm like, okay, so people, people
just invite themselves. They did kind of like my garage bar,
Mario and some of them kind of spearheaded it without
even asking me. But that's cool, It's all right. Yeah,
I said, well no, Marios said, you can grill out
(28:17):
for us. Okay, I'll grill out wow hamburgers.
Speaker 2 (28:20):
No, not only hold on a minute. Not only does
he invite himself to your house, he puts you to work. Yes, yeah,
it makes you the chef. Why I am kind of
the grill master.
Speaker 4 (28:27):
Except I had a little bit of a grease fire
on my grill, which happened sometimes sometimes a little spark.
Speaker 2 (28:31):
You know, we got a little grease fire. I didn't,
went in, had a big cup of water, put it out.
No problem. Now you guys will tell me that's the
wrong thing to do. No, okay. First of all, as
someone who nearly had their house burned down just a
couple of years ago, I would think that maybe you
would have a fire extinguisher handy, like I've got one
right there in the court. If something were to happen here,
if this Bizzoli's breadstick candle were to catch your hog
(28:54):
calling championship trophy on fire, I could put it out
with that fire extinguisher. Do you not own a fire extinguisher?
Speaker 6 (29:00):
I do.
Speaker 4 (29:01):
And Mario was freaked out by the flames were coming
out of the grill, so he ran inside too.
Speaker 2 (29:05):
Younger girl was in there. He got any Fox storers.
Do you have a fixtingisher? Need a fox user?
Speaker 4 (29:09):
You know?
Speaker 2 (29:10):
Panicking?
Speaker 4 (29:11):
So she found one underneath the kitchen, but by the
time Mario brought it out, I don't had to fire out.
Speaker 2 (29:15):
With my I'm not a fire marshal, but as I said,
I don't think you're supposed to put water on a
grease fire. I think if fire extinguisher would probably be
the best thing to have. Are there other things that
you could throw on a grease fire? Do you have
any idea?
Speaker 5 (29:29):
I took the the quicker option of close the grill.
That worked for me, but I will say yesterday.
Speaker 2 (29:39):
I think about that.
Speaker 4 (29:40):
We did, but it was it was in the grease
pan below the grill. That's where the grease fire was. Okay, yeah, But.
Speaker 5 (29:45):
I will say yesterday I was watching baseball aks bar
like people do, enjoying the Red Special, and I asked
a couple of servers how the party went, and one
of them was like, it was pretty fun, but rohn
A was furned his house down. I laughed because just
the way they said it, just.
Speaker 2 (30:00):
Casually, and they're like, what do you mean?
Speaker 5 (30:02):
They're like look at this, and they had a video
and I was like, oh, yeah, that's a big flame.
Speaker 6 (30:06):
Right.
Speaker 5 (30:06):
It was real close to your house. It wasn't like
off to the side. It's very close to uh, to
your back door. So it wasn't like a tiny little
fire popped up. I mean, that was a it was.
Speaker 4 (30:17):
It was a pretty good I think the moral story
is I should clean out my grease plate. Probably full
of grease down there and got down in there and
caught on fire.
Speaker 2 (30:24):
So but you know, sometimes that's what makes the burgers good.
Like we talked about that. Well, the burger's not good, Mario.
They were real good.
Speaker 4 (30:30):
The burgers and hot dogs were good, but maybe had
a little kerosene flavor to them or something.
Speaker 2 (30:35):
You know, don't worry about that little kerosene. You know,
you just drown it out with the mustard and the
ketch up. I know you can taste it. They never tastes.
I did see a picture, now, was that like vinyl
on your house? The siding? Yes? Did that get burnt?
Speaker 3 (30:47):
No?
Speaker 2 (30:47):
Okay no.
Speaker 5 (30:48):
In the video it looked like we were close to
contacts with the actual house.
Speaker 2 (30:51):
Okay, No, it was probably you know, it only lasted
like maybe ten seconds. I mean, it wasn't that long.
Speaker 4 (30:56):
I don't believe that in seconds, Mario is shaking enough
time for me to get inside, get a couple of water,
come outside, push, I put it out.
Speaker 2 (31:03):
I think there were moments away from disaster.
Speaker 5 (31:05):
The video I saw was ten seconds long, and this
person in theory had to get out of a pool. Yeah,
get a phone, hit record, So I think ten seconds might.
Speaker 2 (31:14):
Be a little We'll go fifteen seconds. Rick, we've had
a Rick Patino fire af I've nine eight twenty two
eighty seven. Let's know, it was funny. Nobody left it
that that was funny. I kind of laughed. Let's go
to the phones. He's up first, Rick Trevor of First,
Hey Trevor.
Speaker 7 (31:32):
Hey Shannon. I know according to the NFL podcast that
Drew has fandom for the Cowboys. Second, you have fandom
for either Vandy or Kentucky. Second, is there another SEC
team after Kentucky that you guys are rooting for that
I can root for? Is on his bush Candon and
the offensive coordinator and.
Speaker 2 (31:52):
No, okay, good call, Thanks for the thanks for the call,
appreciate it. Another SEC team that you guys can could
pull for. I mean, obviously Min's Vanderbilt. Outside of that,
I don't know, Like I really don't have a team
that I would pull for unless I had money.
Speaker 5 (32:07):
On the line, you know, usually mine's uh, financially driven. No,
I don't have one where I would just like have
a second favorite. But usually you know, if you're watching
a game, you naturally side with the team in your head,
and like most of the times, you know, we have
our teams. I hate Tennessee usually one Florida lose South Carolina.
Speaker 2 (32:25):
So like Arkansas will throw on there for me. Now, yeah,
I'm Alan Patrino naturally.
Speaker 5 (32:29):
In football, if if Old Miss is in an SEC game,
I'll probably lean rooting for Old Miss, but it's usually
because I hate the other teams more. But as far
as just having a second favorite, no, I'm Kentucky.
Speaker 2 (32:41):
Only on that. On football, I'm kind of with you.
I kind of like Lane Kiffin. And then you know,
with Travis Perry on the basketball side, I'll probably be
watching more Old Miss basketball this year than ever, just
to see how he's doing. Right, I'm Vandy. Also, especially
in football, all Bandy feels like they're never a threat.
This there might be a little bit different if foot ball,
but it feels like, you know, Vandy just kind of
(33:02):
exists and they almost feel like, you know, we've given
you Ray Davis and true, we've given you players over
the years. It feels like they're just they're no threat
to Kentucky.
Speaker 4 (33:11):
And that Saturday down South special that they did they
got on Netflix. They spend a lot of time with
the Vanderbilt coach and the Vanderbilt team. I kind of
fell in love with the guy, you know, you you know,
kind of a go getter kind of guy. So I'm
a Lane Kiffin fan.
Speaker 2 (33:23):
I like him.
Speaker 4 (33:24):
But also if I'm picking another school, I'd probably go
with Auburn just because I like I did like Bruce Pearl,
you like Stephen Pearl. Uh, Stephen Pearl I can live with.
But all my brother's family they're all Auburn fans, you know,
all of them. So they all went to Auburn. They're
all big Auburn fans. Let's taken basketball. I'm just rooting
for what helps us in the standings.
Speaker 5 (33:41):
Usually that's true, Like I'm wanting any potential contender to
get knocked off by you know, usually a Van d
or if it's basketball or LSU or something like that.
Speaker 2 (33:50):
Yeah, let's take another call. Wreck, who's next? Got Peeve
up next? Hey Pete, Pete?
Speaker 3 (34:00):
Yeah, I'm here, I'm here.
Speaker 2 (34:01):
Okay, go ahead, you ready.
Speaker 3 (34:04):
Listen. My man had to put out a grease fire.
Speaker 2 (34:08):
Anyway.
Speaker 3 (34:11):
In honor of you all being in Mount Washington today,
I think I need to point out one of the
very few good things about UK football this year. The
tight ends have have awoken. You know, I think the
lead US in receiving touchdowns and whatnot. And the only
thing that has changed is big Dog Lift. And they
(34:34):
didn't hire a tight ends coach to replace him. But
it's my understanding that Mount Washington native and former Bull
East charger Cole Britt is a student assistant and he
is helping with the tight ends and that's the only
thing that's changed. And all of a sudden, our tight
ends to a burdon that have been in ten years.
Speaker 2 (34:55):
So there you go, I Washington, Uh yeah, that's right.
Speaker 3 (35:01):
Matunt Washington Bulletese Chargers. Uh all, cole Britt, don't don't
forget then he might replace Stoops one day. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (35:08):
Well, I'll be honest with you, I didn't know that
cole Britt was on the staff, but hey, again, we're
in Mount Washington, so we'll take credit for it. Tight
Ends has definitely been the highlight of one of the
highlights of the season. Yeah, it is strange that thanks
for the call. We appreciate it.
Speaker 4 (35:21):
It is strange that the tight Ends that the year
that the big dog leagues for a Lobell are now
the guys who are the best receivers so far this
year Drew.
Speaker 5 (35:30):
Yeah, from a trash talking standpoint, i'd love to put
on the big dog. It's probably a part of it,
but I think it's several factors. When the line was
so bad, tight Ends kind of just had to become
offensive linemen and helped block last season. I also think
you're in a unique spot where Catus is really good,
but Willie Rodriguez is like, could be good, good good.
(35:50):
I mean he's only a sophomore and we're seeing what
he's doing already and what he does a freshman. So
I think the and then you've got Boy and others
right behind him. I think it's part that they've improved
parts that they're at least so far haven't had to
do as much blocking as they had of the pass
you got boldly lives with the tight ends, so his
eye probably goes their way a little bit more in
Hamden working it in. So I think it's a combination
(36:11):
of several factors. But you know, the Vince thing in
Cold Britt probably weigh in that also. Yeah, I mean
it's probably it's a combination of several things that were
coming together for this.
Speaker 2 (36:19):
When you're living with the tight ends, you gotta I'm sure, like, hey,
you know, I'm open, get me the ball more, you know.
Speaker 4 (36:25):
And Caddis didn't even have a target against South Carolina.
I'm not mistaken. I think the hit that won with
Willie Watterriguez for a long path, but I don't think
Katas had a target a little bit.
Speaker 5 (36:32):
Yeah, in South Carolina did a good job. I mean,
if you if you watch Kentucky the first three games,
let's be honest, the wide receivers weren't threatening you, so
they would get a job of taking him out.
Speaker 2 (36:41):
The big dog dig recruit these guys. He did get
him to campus, yeah, yeah, and then it got better
as he left. It is harvest season in Kentucky and

corn Bread Hemp. This is the good life. We're gonna
take a break. We'll be all right back. We're live
in Mount Washington. It is Kentucky's Sports Radio. Welcome back.
It is Kentucky's Ports Radio. Eight five nine to two,
eight oh twenty two eighty seven. Shannon, Drew and Ryan,
you're in my main cave. We were just talking about
harvesting hemp with corn Bread Hemp. I've harvested my pumpkins.
The pumpkins everywhere. I don't know if you noticed them.
(37:46):
I've got uh, well, I had ten biggins. Now I
got nine biggins because my mom took one home. But
I've got how buck is that big one right there
by your front door. Well, I'll let you go pick
it up during the break. It's probably I would say
between forty and fifty pounds. That's a big pumpkin. But
it didn't grow in a perfect shape, so it's kind
of oblong, so I had to lean it up against
the house. But yeah, I've got pumpkins everywhere, So if
(38:06):
you guys want a pumpkin, you can. You could take
all take one.
Speaker 5 (38:08):
Yeah, I need a pumpkin.
Speaker 2 (38:09):
I need a pumpkin from on front porch.
Speaker 5 (38:11):
Also, just saw your ninety year old neighbors just walking
down the street, just just being ninety and enjoying the day.
Speaker 2 (38:16):
So that's Ralph, and he and his wife occasionally will
still get on their bikes bicycles and ride them up
and down there. Ninety Yeah, yeah, man, I hope I
can do that when I'm ninety too. Yes, you know,
good for them. I've also got right here in front
of us a huge stock of foreign bills. That is
(38:37):
my collection over the years of all the foreign money
that has been sent to this house. How many how
many bills would you say? There, Ryan, there is well
over two hundred different bills, and I have no idea
like what any of that's worth. But that's stuff that
still comes on the road.
Speaker 4 (38:52):
Even if each one of these is worth a dollar.
I mean, you've got a couple hundred dollars here, Maybe
you're amazing.
Speaker 2 (38:57):
The first time I got a foreign bill mistakenly sent
to me, it was actually worth one hundred dollars and
I cashed that in the rest of them I've kept. So,
I mean it's a huge style and a lot of
these I don't even know what they're worth, Like you said,
I mean, most of them probably worth hardly anything. Although
somebody did send me one hundred dollars bill, but it's
got a Kentucky Derby, and I don't think that's legit.
(39:20):
I tried to ask chat GPT. I couldn't get a
clear answer as to whether or not that was, you know,
like a legit one hundred dollars bill. I don't think
it is. No, it doesn't have the imprint of Ben Franklin.
But there's a little bit of everything on there. I
mean literally bills from all over the world.
Speaker 5 (39:34):
I feel like you know, you're some kind of international
spy or somebody running from the law, like I'm in
a movie. Like you should have like six passports in
this pot.
Speaker 4 (39:42):
Yeah, it is kind of cool that people are doing
this just random people know your story or have heard
about it, and just I almost send this young man
some money.
Speaker 2 (39:48):
It started off as just bills, you know, but now
people are also including letters and cards, and you can
you can, you know, spread it around the table if
you want to, if you want to get a good
picture of it. I mean, that's a big act of
bills right there.
Speaker 5 (40:01):
Are we sure someone's not laundering money through you?
Speaker 2 (40:03):
Maybe so? I have no idea, but you know, I
thought maybe it would just be from Kentucky. It has
been from all over the country. I had some from Charlotte,
North Carolina, and Denver and like, I mean, just about
every state so far, I feel like I've had at
least one person send me money. And I don't know,
it's the weirdest thing, but it continues to happen. Maybe
I should stop talking about it and people will stop
sending it, you know. I think when I talk about it,
(40:25):
I feel like it rams up even more.
Speaker 5 (40:27):
I don't know, getting getting money sent me in the
mail doesn't seem like the worst thing to happen.
Speaker 2 (40:30):
That's true. That's true, although, like I said, most of
it's worth little to nothing in American dollars eight five, nine, eight,
twenty two eighty seven. Who's up next? Rick? John? Is
up next? Hey John? What's up?
Speaker 6 (40:42):
Proby all doing this morning?
Speaker 2 (40:43):
They were doing great.
Speaker 6 (40:46):
It's good here. So as we in, as we approached
the end and the markups there, there's always the scanals
that come out. One of the biggest rumors that's always
been around the program is that suits may have done
something with the staffer. I don't know if that's the
story that will come out, and they maybe use that
as leverage of a contract negotiations. Have you heard anything
(41:07):
about that?
Speaker 2 (41:08):
No, No, I appreciate the call. I have not personally,
and I don't want to spread any kind of rumors
because again, they're just that and that's the first I've
even heard of that. So no, I don't think that's
the case.
Speaker 5 (41:19):
If they don't start scoring some touchdowns, I know what
he could do with some people on the staff.
Speaker 2 (41:24):
Yeah, there's a little more.
Speaker 5 (41:25):
To do with packing your things.
Speaker 2 (41:26):
Yeah, I think that's the bigger issue here. I mean,
what do you think. Do you think Stoop survives another
couple of years or does it all depend on what
happens this year? I mean, if he finishes with three wins,
I think you gotta cut the cord. But if it's
let's say, four wins, do they keep them?
Speaker 5 (41:43):
I don't think so five wins?
Speaker 2 (41:45):
Do they keep them?
Speaker 5 (41:45):
Five? Is a conversation. You know, that's tough. I think
what we've seen three is starting to look the most likely. Unfortunately,
So you think I have them beaten Florida and Vandy
in my preseason predictions, But now I'm worried about even
getting to that point.
Speaker 2 (41:59):
Well so, a caller on the Free Show the other
day mentioned Tennessee Tech, who's like four and oh and
has scored a ton of points. Tech, It's easy A
