Welcome to our two case Tucky Sports Radio present it
by Stockton Mortgage. Now Here's Matt Jones welcome back.
Speaker 4 (01:05):
I remember two Tucky sports Radio eightf I'm nine two
eight oh twenty two eighty seven, text machine seven seventy two,
see four five two five four. Kurt Signetti, by the way,
sixty four years old, so we said six years older
than Stoops. But the fact that I thought he was young.
Speaker 2 (01:18):
I thought he was young.
Speaker 5 (01:20):
But that also says to me he's doing it.
Speaker 4 (01:21):
So I mean, maybe the fair way to put it is,
it's not age is mentality and their armor new head coaches.
Speaker 5 (01:27):
He has a new newer head.
Speaker 4 (01:29):
But like maybe the way to put it is, it's
not so much what your physical age is are you coaching?
Is your mindset to the new way of doing college football.
I would have a rule if I was an ad
if I was considering hiring a coach and I heard
them one time in public in a press conference bitch
about the transfer portal and n anil, I wouldn't hire him.
Speaker 5 (01:51):
You're not locked in. I wouldn't hire him.
Speaker 4 (01:54):
If you're complaining about a system that is not changing,
get a DAPT, then I'm not hiring yep. If you're
sitting there hoping that the Supreme Court after they had
a nine to zero opinion is gonna flip, then I'm
not hiring you.
Speaker 5 (02:10):
This isn't for you anymore. It's just not now.
Speaker 4 (02:14):
If you want to say I wish it was this
and hopefully it'll change, that's different. But if you get
there and go, you know, all right now, Like Mike
Gundhy should be a perfect example. He's complaining. He's complaining.
He could put Dabbo. Would you hire Dabo right now? No?
Speaker 5 (02:28):
No way, no way.
Speaker 6 (02:31):
It's like that at any job. Imagine Heck, you work
for iHeart and you come in your interview, You're like, oh,
I really don't like being around radio from ten to twelve,
but I would love to work here.
Speaker 4 (02:39):
It'd be like working at a radio station ten years ago,
as Shannon and I used to have and listening to
people complaining about podcast.
Speaker 5 (02:46):
Get rid of that person, Yeah.
Speaker 7 (02:48):
Well that was our boss.
Speaker 2 (02:49):
That would got that was our boss.
Speaker 4 (02:52):
And I would say, will you put this on podcasts?
Speaker 5 (02:54):
And they're like, no, podcast is ruined the radio.
Speaker 4 (02:56):
And I was like, well, we'll be here longer than
you because podcast is not going anywhere.
Speaker 2 (03:00):
That's one thing I think that made Cali Perry so successful.
He was always a little head of the curve.
Speaker 5 (03:04):
But now he's not.
Speaker 4 (03:05):
Now he's not. But it was now he's not he
used to be. He used to be. But then that
was a change he was comfortable with. Then came changes
he wasn't you remember what cal said when they first
started in al we don't need to.
Speaker 5 (03:18):
Do that here.
Speaker 2 (03:19):
I'll that tr he did, Yeah, he did, remember when he.
Speaker 4 (03:21):
Said that, and we were like, yeah, he's right, it's Kentucky,
we don't need to do that here. Well, you know
what that was? That was the canary in the coal
mine that's in Eh. Maybe he's not adapt for and
maybe he's not adept at this. And even after that,
he didn't think he needed anyone's help. I got this,
don't need anyone else. I don't remember when somebody asked
about hiring a GM and he was like, oh, we
don't need that.
Speaker 5 (03:42):
I got it.
Speaker 4 (03:43):
Well, so I wouldn't hire anybody that was like that. Now,
before I get back the phones, I'm nine two eighty seven.
We got to talk about Kirby Smart.
Speaker 5 (03:54):
What a liar?
Speaker 4 (03:56):
You know what, I'll tell you what. What what gets
my gets in my crawl are coaches and even human
beings that get up all the time in your face
and preach to you about how you should act, and
really especially if they take on the mantle of God.
(04:18):
Dabbo's the worst of this, you know, name image and
likeness of the Lord. And then they're out there. That's why,
like tell Evangelist and those people driving me crazy because
they you know, they tell you how you're supposed to live,
and the next thing you know, they're going.
Speaker 5 (04:35):
Oh, who swim against you, my Lord? Like, I hate that.
Speaker 4 (04:39):
Kirby Smart's not exactly that, but there's definitely a holier
than now to Kirby Smart, would you agree with that?
Speaker 5 (04:46):
Certainly?
Speaker 2 (04:47):
Now that timeout thing is not just one of my
most favorite events that happened this season, it's one of
my most favorite events in sports in a long time.
Speaker 4 (04:53):
See, I hate it because he's a liar.
Speaker 2 (04:55):
That's what. That's what to make him as absolute liar.
Speaker 4 (04:58):
The videos have been and then he tried to take
up for it at the end. You know, Shannon, he
runs out there, we are not stupid. We see you
calling time out and he's mouting it. You are saying
time out, time out, time out, he tried to say,
and they give him the time out and he goes
I didn't want to time out. I was clapping.
Speaker 2 (05:18):
I was clapping.
Speaker 3 (05:19):
Did he not think that there were cameras in the
stadium that could see him? We could have instant replay
if anybody in the stadium.
Speaker 4 (05:25):
He does natural personality trades to lie, they forget their line.
I believe that they start to believe the lie themselves.
I think in his mind he thought he wasn't.
Speaker 5 (05:38):
Calling time out.
Speaker 4 (05:40):
He in that millisecond he went from time out to
clapping had convinced himself that actually he was clasping.
Speaker 3 (05:46):
I understand people who lie and then convinced themselves the
lies true. But that's usually over like time, over maybe
a year or two. This was seconds later.
Speaker 4 (05:53):
He knew exactly what he was doing.
Speaker 6 (05:55):
He got busted, such a victim, like, oh you see
him want?
Speaker 2 (05:59):
Oh?
Speaker 5 (05:59):
I was just class I'm knocking my microphone.
Speaker 8 (06:07):
He's such a.
Speaker 4 (06:08):
Snotling to make Hugh Freeze look like the sympathetic character, yeah,
Hugh Freeze.
Speaker 5 (06:18):
Who has quite a history himself.
Speaker 2 (06:20):
Came off as the more sympathetic person.
Speaker 6 (06:23):
It's big pr hit for Kirby here.
Speaker 2 (06:25):
Sean McDonough and Greg McElroy were fantastic and they were
on They were fantastic.
Speaker 3 (06:31):
Get an unsportsman like conduct or delayed game or something.
Speaker 4 (06:35):
The n c a A or excuse me, the SEC
should find him should you cannot blatantly lie like that.
Speaker 3 (06:41):
This is the new faking injury thing now coaches to
go no time out.
Speaker 2 (06:47):
And then they replayed it like oh no.
Speaker 4 (06:49):
And then he claimed after the game he was like, well,
I told him before the game that the Auburn guys clamp. Fine,
maybe you did. Maybe the Auburn guys were cut, but
you were calling time out. We he saw you.
Speaker 1 (07:01):
You were the referee, Yeah, towards the referee doing it.
Speaker 2 (07:05):
We saw you do it. What a liar.
Speaker 6 (07:09):
Let's not let the referee get off the hook either.
How do you fall for that? Just because Kirby's yelling
at you?
Speaker 4 (07:14):
I agree, But I have more sympathy for the reft
than Kirby, because Kirby might have been like, well, maybe
I thought you know, his back was to him.
Speaker 5 (07:22):
He screwed up. Yeah, you can't let him get.
Speaker 4 (07:24):
Away, babe, Kirby. No, oh yeah, and he thought he's shitting.
He thought we weren't seeing him.
Speaker 7 (07:31):
Yeah, do you think we're all stupid?
Speaker 2 (07:33):
Kirby?
Speaker 4 (07:35):
So if I was Auburn fans, I'd be living. First
of all, they get screwed at the call at the
goal line, absolutely got screwed completely. How did they not
give him a touchdown? He was across the plane?
Speaker 2 (07:43):
That puts Auburn up. What's seventeen? Nothing? I think at
that point, and then they end up losing the game.
Speaker 9 (07:48):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (07:48):
But even though in the long run it doesn't matter
that timeout thing, I'll never trust another word Kirby smart.
So if you can lie to me that blatantly, I
love it to my faith.
Speaker 7 (07:59):
He's not that smart. He got busted, he did.
Speaker 6 (08:03):
I remember hearing about it before I saw the clip.
I'm like, well, I gotta see what this is about.
How close it was? Three seconds is all I need?
That is so obvious. He's screaming time out, time out,
And that's why I couldn't believe he got away with it.
Speaker 5 (08:15):
I can't believe he he got away with it either.
Speaker 4 (08:18):
Okay, so a couple of people during the break, do
you think give a percentage chance that stoops? Is the coach?
January first, So let's just lay your lay your cards
on the table there. Ryan Lemon's scoop. You have had
twenty twenty five, tough year for Scoop. This is how
(08:38):
you redeem yourself. This is your chance to redeem your
Lamar Wilkerson debacle and Yaxel and Yaxele.
Speaker 2 (08:45):
Still felt really good about both of those, really good.
Speaker 5 (08:50):
Here's your chance. What's your percentage?
Speaker 2 (08:52):
I'm gonna go ten? Ten?
Speaker 4 (08:55):
Wow, you only think there's a ten percent chance he's back?
Speaker 10 (08:59):
Yeah? Ten.
Speaker 2 (09:01):
I don't see how this team is gonna win maybe
one more game?
Speaker 5 (09:04):
Ten ten.
Speaker 2 (09:07):
It's too toxic. I think it's just become too toxic.
And I think we got some really bad losses coming.
I'm on your ten.
Speaker 5 (09:14):
Ten. I thought you were gonna be the most optimistic
all right, Uh, Drew, ten, I thought it before he
said it. That was my answer.
Speaker 6 (09:22):
I just don't see how they're gonna win it. I
just don't see where they're gonna win when they can't
bring him back. If they don't win, Okay, sorry, what
about you, Shannon.
Speaker 3 (09:31):
I was just gonna go like forty percent chance that
he's back. I still think there's a chance they get
to five wins and then you put the ball in
Mitch Barnhardt's court and say fire me. So I think
that's the scenario that plays out.
Speaker 4 (09:43):
So I was gonna say twenty five. I think the
on the field thing, there's two scenarios, and I think
the die will be cast Saturday. We're either gonna play
real well Saturday, maybe win, maybe lose, but be competitive,
at which point I do not think the team quits
(10:04):
or gonna get blown out and then the whole thing's
fall apart.
Speaker 2 (10:08):
That's kind of we saw that last year.
Speaker 5 (10:09):
They got no.
Speaker 4 (10:10):
I mean, there's a chance if we lose thirty five
to three Saturday, the whole the wheels fall of. Yeah,
and it's and it becomes it becomes just a compustible
train wreck for the rest of the year.
Speaker 5 (10:21):
It happens earlier in the year than it did last year.
Speaker 4 (10:24):
Yeah, if we're competitive, I worry about Shannon's scenario. I
do think there's a world where they beat Florida or
beat Vandy and then beat Louisville and then they're five
and seven.
Speaker 2 (10:41):
And the end of the year the winner Louisville, and
then what do you do.
Speaker 5 (10:45):
I don't think you've watched this team play.
Speaker 4 (10:46):
For I understand, but but let's just say that happened.
Speaker 6 (10:50):
Yeah, I mean, you'd have to consider it I just
I don't think there's a world.
Speaker 5 (10:54):
Do they go Pave gets hurt before we play Vandy?
Speaker 7 (10:57):
Wait, now, what are you doing?
Speaker 4 (10:59):
I don't want to get hurt, but I'm just saying that,
you know, small things can happen. Mean, look at the
Baltimore Ravens. They're a Super Bowl attender. Lamar gets hurt,
they can't even score. You know, there are things that happen.
Speaker 6 (11:11):
But I would say if one of your wins is
you beat Vandy because Pobby is hurt, that's not very
comforting moving forward. It's like, well, we're just gonna rely
on all the quarterbacks getting hurt.
Speaker 5 (11:18):
On the schedule. I'm not making the case that he
should stay.
Speaker 4 (11:21):
I'm saying if it's five and seven, yeah, it's a
different world.
Speaker 3 (11:27):
Let's say you beat Florida, beat Tennessee Tech, and beat
Louisville or Vandy.
Speaker 4 (11:30):
Which let's just say you beat Florida, Tennessee Tech, and
Louisvell and you're five and seven and you've got a
thirty seven million dollars bio do within twenty days?
Speaker 5 (11:44):
And Mark Stoop says, I ain't leaving. What do you do?
Speaker 2 (11:51):
That is the worst scenario. I think for Barnhart because
that is that's the number that he's got to make
a tough decision. And you will have.
Speaker 4 (11:58):
Been at least one real good to get to five wins.
I even say Drew four wins, you gotta let him go.
But you beat you get to five wins, You've beaten
two good teams.
Speaker 2 (12:09):
Yeah, and you've beat Louisville in our scenario at the
last game of the year, all that good feeling and beaten.
Speaker 4 (12:13):
Lords or even you beat Florida and Vandy, and you
go into the Louisville game with a chance to go
to a bowl game.
Speaker 6 (12:18):
That was my preseason prediction. Actually, you know, I think
that we're skipping over that Tennessee is about to beat
them by fifty in one week.
Speaker 4 (12:27):
This first in the country. Let's just play the games. Though,
what if we beat Texas. I don't think we will.
Believe me, I'm not predicting it. I think we'll lose
by fifteen to twenty. But what if we do What
if the magic of Keenland's Saturday night arch comes in collapses,
we get a pick six, It's the old miss game
(12:47):
last year.
Speaker 2 (12:51):
The fan base I think jumps back on board for
a moment. It just one game here, and I don't
think that.
Speaker 5 (12:56):
I don't think that.
Speaker 6 (12:57):
I don't think people should be this way. I think
there's a part of the fan base that would actually
be mad that that happened. And I don't think that's
being a true fan. You should never want your team
to lose. But I think there are people that want
this to be three and nine. So it's just clear
and over with.
Speaker 4 (13:09):
I totally agree with you. I don't think that fans
want it. I mean, I think you asked them, would
you like to beat Texas? Answers, yeah, this course. But
I don't think this is why five and seven is
so bad.
Speaker 2 (13:23):
Yep.
Speaker 5 (13:24):
If you go five and seven and we poll the
fan base, there's still gonna be nobody wanting back.
Speaker 2 (13:28):
Yeah. If you're Mitch Barnhart, though, you got to make
somewhat a business decision at that point.
Speaker 4 (13:33):
But you also have to make a business decision in
a year you're trying to raise a lot of money.
You're thinking about building an entertainment district that if they
had to buy out, that entertainment district disappears.
Speaker 5 (13:42):
So that's the thing.
Speaker 4 (13:43):
No, I mean, I think the entertainment trig might be
a bad idea anyway, but it's like, do you want
to build your entertainment district or do you want to
get rid of Mark Stoops.
Speaker 6 (13:51):
I think even if you get to five, you're running
out of an impressive five. Like if one of them
is Tennessee, maybe, but if you beat Texas and then Florida,
I don't even think that that impressive at this point
because Florida. If you beat Florida a Florida team that no,
if you beat Florida, their coach is getting fired on Monday.
So I still think it's gonna be hard to get
impressive wins. Now, Tennessee would be very impressive. We thought
(14:12):
Texas would be. I'm saying that's what if you're gonna
have five, you're gonna need something you can really point to.
Speaker 5 (14:17):
Jerry, go ahead, Jerry hey Man.
Speaker 11 (14:22):
In addition to Franklin. Of course, it got blown off,
the blown out and Franklin got fired. Oregon State fired
their coach over the weekend too.
Speaker 10 (14:30):
And here's here's.
Speaker 5 (14:31):
Powerful powerful for football. I consider, well, I.
Speaker 11 (14:35):
Don't know what they're I don't know what they're going
to be next year. But the point is is that
the portal and all this stuff has speed up this process,
and everybody's talking about you know, well he might be
Vandy and Louis wille and get the TV's job. This
decision is going to be made before those games. This
decison is going to be made by the Tennessee Tech
game because if they wait till the end of the
season to do this, all these teams you're talking about,
(14:58):
they're gonna be announcing their new coaches Sunday and Monday.
Speaker 12 (15:00):
After the Lois.
Speaker 10 (15:01):
There's a lot you're gonna want that they may be gone,
so you're gonna have to They're gonna have to know
who they're gonna hire and announce the hire. If they're
gonna replay studs, it's gonna be announced by that Monday
after the little.
Speaker 5 (15:13):
Well it won't be the Monday, but I appreciate the call,
but it'll be soon. You're right.
Speaker 4 (15:16):
I mean, the one of the reasons all these teams
have let go of guys is so they can go
talk to people. Yes, so you know Jerry's right, I mean,
but I don't. I don't think there's any scenario that
fire and during the season, do you I don't.
Speaker 2 (15:27):
But Jerry makes a good argument. All these other coaches
out there, they're gonna be gobbled up by these other teams.
Speaker 5 (15:32):
But they won't even if you don't fire him.
Speaker 6 (15:34):
You need to be having these conversations about it.
Speaker 5 (15:36):
But bitch, Maartinhart's not gonna do.
Speaker 6 (15:38):
That about him then, I mean, well, if you think
you're gonna make a hire, you can't just wait.
Speaker 4 (15:44):
You can't go talk about him behind his back. You
can't be hiring is his replacement. If he's steal your coach,
you'd have to tell him. I'm letting you go. I mean,
even me, I would say, Mitch can't do that. You
can't do that to a guy who's been here fifteen years.
You can't go be talking to his replacements while he's
still sitting there.
Speaker 5 (16:03):
I don't know. I think you have agent center who's
going to be well, that might be different, but Mitch
can't do it.
Speaker 6 (16:08):
Yeah, no, of course, I mean, Mitch can't make your home.
We're so'll find out if we're doing that. I mean
coaches talk, Oh, yes they do.
Speaker 5 (16:15):
We'll take a break. Very back, KISR. Welcome back.
Speaker 4 (16:20):
Take you sports Radio a fi IVEM nine to eighth,
twenty two eighty seven. I can't believe there's people taking
up for Kirby Smart and be like, oh, he was
really just trying to stop. I mean I saw the timeout, Channing.
People got to stop, like, you.
Speaker 3 (16:32):
Know, it's Georgia fans, right, I mean, is there anybody
who just doesn't have a dog in the fight that's
Let me.
Speaker 4 (16:37):
Ask you a question, Channing, you're a conspiracy guy. Yeah,
did you see what happened with the crypto Friday? This
feels like your kind of story.
Speaker 7 (16:43):
No, I haven't followed the crypto what happened?
Speaker 6 (16:45):
All?
Speaker 5 (16:45):
Right?
Speaker 4 (16:45):
So crypto lost like two billion dollars maybe I don't.
I don't know what a massive amount of money in
like twenty minutes. And unlike the regular financial market, the
crypto market just disappears. We don't even know where it is, right,
just gone. Crypto markets crashed. When Trump announces he's going
to put tariffs on China, a person and again with crypto,
(17:08):
you don't have to register your accounts. A person gets
online thirty minutes before he announces it and shorts all
these crypto things. Makes one hundred and ninety two million
dollars when Trump announces it and then immediately sells all
his positions makes one hundred and ninety two million dollars
(17:29):
in thirty minutes. The assumption in the crypto world is
somebody knew it was coming, absolutely did it, and then
sold it. Of course, this is the problem with crypto,
and this is the problem with our government getting involved
in crypto. There are no laws all right, kitting else. So,
I mean what he did is probably not even illegal.
(17:51):
But do you think they should investigate Shannon how the
part because he made one hundred and ninety two million dollars.
Speaker 3 (17:56):
Absolutely they should investigate it. I mean unless that guy
has just immaculated timing and the best luck ever to
be able to do that right before Trump made the announcement.
Speaker 5 (18:06):
And then sell it right aft.
Speaker 12 (18:07):
Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (18:08):
Whoever this person was absolutely had some sort of insider
tip that announcement was coming and they knew what they
were doing.
Speaker 5 (18:14):
What if you find out it was like a member
of the administration.
Speaker 7 (18:18):
Prison I need.
Speaker 4 (18:23):
Yeah, I mean, we don't have any like, we have
no laws in this stuff. It's ridiculous. That's why I
don't like, people are going to lose like you in
fifteen years if we don't do something with AI and crypto.
Our society is going to collapse because we were arguing
about stupid stuff. Yeah, that's my prediction. We're all sitting
here arguing about who gets to swim against each other,
(18:45):
and the entire system is going to crash because we
don't have laws around the things that people are actually doing.
Speaker 6 (18:54):
Would you agree with that? I bought crypto on Friday,
so I'll just sit quiet here. Well, that would hurt you.
Then I'm a pretty big anytime you didn't buy I bought.
Speaker 2 (19:04):
The dip, Well you bought the dip.
Speaker 5 (19:06):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (19:06):
But I'm saying to you, but that doesn't bother me.
I don't care if the market dips and then you
decide yes about you and I'm saying, let me finish.
He's happened three or four times. This happened with AI
in China and video back in March. It dropped, It's
up two hundred percent. The people who are doing That's
(19:29):
what I'm saying.
Speaker 6 (19:30):
Our president says a message about China, the market crashes
and it fixes itself in three days.
Speaker 5 (19:36):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (19:37):
Same with what.
Speaker 4 (19:38):
About one hundred and ninety two million dollar guy. That
guy did something, in my opinion that should be illegal.
Speaker 5 (19:44):
I don't care.
Speaker 4 (19:45):
I agree with you. Stocks go up, damn whatever.
Speaker 5 (19:47):
I don't care.
Speaker 4 (19:47):
If people do that, that's that's that's capitalism. But people
who know something's coming make money on it like that
should be illegal.
Speaker 6 (19:55):
No, I agree, And it's happening all the time and illegal. Yeah, No,
I completely agree, all right, Like I'm going nerd out
like in Vidia, it's ai. It went down to like
ninety dollars in March because Trump was free traded Scott,
I'm fine with that. There are laws about that. With
crypto there are no laws, na Vidio, there's a set
of laws. I'm good with that.
Speaker 12 (20:13):
Now.
Speaker 6 (20:13):
I'm saying, they put out chaos, they sell it, crashes,
and they get right back in. Whether it's political crypto stocks,
You're missing my point.
Speaker 9 (20:23):
Eric, go ahead, Eric, Yes, sir, I was gonna say
that big move Manus was awesome. In the line waiting
to get the players signed. We were interviewed by la
X sixteen. I was gonna say, Andrea yellowch can shoot
just about as well as Trent Noa can not as good,
(20:44):
and Trent no is way better, but he can shoot.
That was my eye opener from him. And two things
about your Barfinnity and Lizzie need raises. They have fantastic service,
and please man get rid of your papers.
Speaker 4 (20:57):
They're gonna go away to use it all. I think
they'll be gone after the Texas game. I think I
think where we look, I think we'll be out of
them after the Texas game. So for the Texas game,
they'll be there more.
Speaker 5 (21:13):
Than you do.
Speaker 4 (21:13):
There by the way, and I'll tell Trinity and Lizzie
you like him, but go ahead.
Speaker 9 (21:18):
Uh you were not kidding about your beef.
Speaker 13 (21:22):
That stuff is funhenomenal.
Speaker 9 (21:26):
Thank you very much, Yes, sir, thank.
Speaker 4 (21:30):
You appreciate You think Jovich plays, Yeah, definitely.
Speaker 6 (21:34):
I think there's a chance he's still a little behind
now and we've kind of got to figure out how
he's going to get his feet und him because he's
unique circumstances. But I think he could be starting in February.
Would not surprise me. But that also could be the
big Z thing where he looks like a deer and
just can't defend switching over coming play SEC basketball, but
enough to still spot.
Speaker 4 (21:54):
Do you know, I don't think he started, having watched
him play, but I do think he can get I mean,
I think he could play more than z did, but
he's not gonna start.
Speaker 2 (22:03):
In my opinion, he was the guy we had to
pick our one kind of dark horse guy. I'm still
on the yellowitch wagon.
Speaker 4 (22:10):
I just think there's a huge physical discrepancy from him
and the other guys, Like if you just watch him
when they're running up and down the court.
Speaker 5 (22:16):
But he can shoot, and I mean he's an awesome
I mean like he's what our eleventh or twelfth I mean,
what an amazing eleventh or twelfth guy to have.
Speaker 6 (22:25):
That's what's so exciting about this team. Let's say if
he doesn't work out right away, Okay, we have others.
It's not like you're all in and if he doesn't
work there's no back up. It's thrown off everything you're doing.
I'm not gonna say he's extra, but you know there
are other options if he doesn't pan out.
Speaker 2 (22:37):
I think he is.
Speaker 4 (22:38):
He is extra, but like, what an extra bonus piece.
I mean to have that as a bonus.
Speaker 2 (22:45):
He does the one thing you hope once he's four
guy to do, just stand in the corner and bomb away.
Speaker 4 (22:49):
And with Jack Garrison bringing his little kid out, yeah
that was cool, although the kid.
Speaker 2 (22:54):
Was scared to death. Scared to death. Wasn't thinking the
kid was like, put me down, Daddy, get me out
of here.
Speaker 4 (23:01):
It's still kind of a neat little moment though with yes, uh,
but I bet are are kids ears more sensitive?
Speaker 5 (23:08):
Yeah, you gotta wear the big.
Speaker 2 (23:10):
Yeah, sensory overload kind of.
Speaker 4 (23:12):
But I mean, are they are they like dogs? The
sound hits them out different.
Speaker 6 (23:16):
Their ears just aren't used to hearing that yet. So
you don't want to just throw them into a rock concept.
It's not crazy, right, They're like dogs time. Don't you
remember being a kid.
Speaker 2 (23:25):
It's not being a critical it's not critical.
Speaker 4 (23:27):
I'm just saying, are they they're like dogs?
Speaker 7 (23:30):
The sounds are like dogs?
Speaker 5 (23:31):
Thank you?
Speaker 2 (23:32):
We'll be right. They're the same thing.
Speaker 4 (23:35):
TJ.
Speaker 2 (23:35):
Smith, personal injury attorney, called TJ.
Speaker 4 (23:38):
He'll make them pay now.
Speaker 3 (23:40):
More of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Speaker 7 (23:43):
Here's Matt Jones.
Speaker 4 (23:44):
Welcome back Tucky Sports Radio. I'm twenty two eighty seven.
Text machine is seven seven two seven seven four five
two five four.
Speaker 5 (23:53):
I love the text machine with people man well you,
Shay Shipping and Nancy Pelos.
Speaker 4 (23:59):
We've made fun of Nancy Pelosi's insider trading for years.
I follow her talks about he literally what she does like.
Of course she inside like she's the worst. You're gonna
get no pert. If you ever hear me taking up
for Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer, then you're listening to
the wrong person.
Speaker 6 (24:20):
Nancy is the greatest stock trader in the history of
the world.
Speaker 4 (24:22):
I mean, no kidding, the the but the cult like
mentality of oh no, I said a bad word about
your guy and you start yelling at me, like, come on,
my friend, we're all.
Speaker 5 (24:34):
Better than that.
Speaker 4 (24:35):
If I'm nine twenty two eighty seven words, right's mad?
Speaker 5 (24:38):
I like paper straws. Come on, no, you don't. Nobody
don't like paper straws.
Speaker 6 (24:42):
The other day, when I was taking the wrapper off
of my paper straw, the straw broke with.
Speaker 4 (24:47):
It one literally, I mean, I'm mad at my own
restaurant for having I look in the mirror, Shannon and
cuss myself out for us having paper straws.
Speaker 3 (24:56):
The only person that likes paper straws is Witch McConnell.
Speaker 5 (25:01):
A good job.
Speaker 2 (25:05):
That was a great jealous splot. His run step on
the joke.
Speaker 4 (25:12):
He has to.
Speaker 2 (25:13):
Explain the joke. I love it.
Speaker 4 (25:16):
That was a really good joke, Shannon, you deserve to
not have it stepped up. Cornbredhip dot com. Go to

corn bred Hip. One person writes, Matt, why would you
dismiss getting James Franklin? He's one everywhere he's gone. Why
not here? Because we would have to pay the buyout?
Right it ended up paying two biots. You'd be paying
two buyouts. But more importantly, James Franklin has one. If
he did as well here as he did at Penn State,
that would be good. But is James Franklin the coach
(25:59):
for the future. Sure my answer would be no. He
was great for his time, but that time is now
changing and I don't think he would be the guy.
Speaker 6 (26:08):
I don't really know what the future holds for James Franklin.
I just think about when he ran up the score
at Vandy, and when he and Mark Stoops almost fought
at the Citrus Bowl, And I've just never liked him,
and I don't think I could turn that off.
Speaker 4 (26:17):
I'm amazed how many people it seems like everyone in
college football hating. They all root for his downfall.
Speaker 2 (26:22):
Yeah, yeah, I've seen the.
Speaker 6 (26:26):
Penn State had the serious issue a year or two go.
And I'll never forget that press conference. He stood there
like a smarmy look, and he wouldn't answer, and he
made like some.
Speaker 5 (26:33):
Media the question.
Speaker 6 (26:35):
That just said a lot about his character because he
put the one dude in the spot that doesn't even
do press conference as sid here it was, and he
just stood there with his arms crossed behind him. I
just thought that was a jerk move on top of
all his other jerk moves.
Speaker 4 (26:46):
A lot of times I have to drive on Sundays,
usually from Louisville back to Lexington to do the podcast.
And you know, most podcasts don't update till Sunday nine.
So the only like new podcast that's out on Sunday
is Todd McShay. So he does like a thing and
it's not particularly good. But what I've noticed about Tom
McShay is he'll say anything. First of all, he called
(27:08):
Paul finebaumb a dirty weasel the other.
Speaker 6 (27:11):
Day he did go look, is he not associated with
any No, he's a ringer.
Speaker 5 (27:19):
He got on there Shinnon.
Speaker 4 (27:20):
He was like, he's a cheat, he's a liar, he's
a dirty wheel.
Speaker 2 (27:24):
I was like, whoa, I like I like it.
Speaker 4 (27:26):
I gotta go look up mcshae and you can see
his co host is going, hey, hey.
Speaker 5 (27:34):
Just picked up a new listener over here is just like.
Speaker 4 (27:39):
Well, but he was going off on James Franklin yesterday
before he got fired, and he just seemed to hate him.
Feels like the people that cover the sport just cannot
stand it.
Speaker 5 (27:48):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (27:48):
Like I said, I've never met him. He did not
be respected at all by members of the media, by
members of other good coaches. They just seemed to nobody
says to respect that guy. Like that guy.
Speaker 5 (27:57):
I don't know why it is. Tristan, go ahead, Tristan,
good morning, Good morning.
Speaker 14 (28:04):
So first off, shout out to Vasoline. Whatever the opposite
of a shout out is, then it's to Peter Tiel,
but shout out to Vasoline. All right, And my question
is for you this morning, Matt. So you keep talking
about video for your cover zero stuff. Where are you
putting that out?
Speaker 7 (28:17):
Are streaming it on parafract we on YouTube.
Speaker 4 (28:20):
But it still looks bad. I mean, the problem we've
had is it doesn't look good. I mean I've said it.
It makes True and I both look like we're hide
and crying. So sometimes the clips go out on Twitter,
but they're all kind of embarrassing. We're doing the best
we can. We're using cameras that were literally from the
first BlackBerry.
Speaker 12 (28:42):
Yeah.
Speaker 14 (28:42):
So I spend a lot of time on YouTube. You
search cover zero and all that comes up is defensive
concepts and.
Speaker 5 (28:47):
It maybe.
Speaker 4 (28:49):
We might be I appreciate, Tristan appreciates call. We're kind
of hiding it. To be honest with you, I don't
want to start putting it up till it looks it
looks awful, like it really looks terrible.
Speaker 5 (28:58):
And it's nobody's fault. Well it is.
Speaker 7 (29:01):
It's Billy's fault.
Speaker 4 (29:02):
It's Iheart's fault to some extent. But they're trying to
improve it. But we hope to have it looking better.
But when I look at myself on those clips, I'm like,
please tell me I don't look like.
Speaker 5 (29:14):
That, remember, I guess not?
Speaker 2 (29:16):
Remember?
Speaker 6 (29:16):
So I like the Snapchat filter you put on people
in their faces crying.
Speaker 5 (29:19):
Yeah, we're talking about it.
Speaker 3 (29:20):
Do it, do it, Simpson.
Speaker 6 (29:26):
We're debating Baker Mayfield or Sam Donald. But it looks
like we're just crying our eyes out over it.
Speaker 4 (29:31):
Like there's the clips we just we both look so bad.
And yet somehow Shannon Billy has the good camera.
Speaker 2 (29:37):
See he knows what he's doing.
Speaker 3 (29:38):
He's sabotaging, you get.
Speaker 4 (29:39):
I think he might be because Billy does have the
the good camera. And when and we're doing it from
home and we're on our iPads, we both look good
for some reason. The official camera it just it's just terrible.
They just sent in new ones, so we're gonna try
it again.
Speaker 5 (29:53):
Nice. And this thing is lit for like prehistoric torture.
It's not.
Speaker 4 (29:58):
It's not it's not it's not lit for not designed
to be a TV. She's not designed to be a TV.
Sure that radio people designed the visual. Anybody who's ever
worked with lighting those having it behind you and over
your head is the worst thing you can do, and
that's kind of what they do.
Speaker 5 (30:15):
Adam, go ahead at him.
Speaker 12 (30:17):
I what's some guys? I had two points. First, seeing
John wall At at Madness this like made my heart happy.
After you know, not only is he one of the
most beloved players in UK history, but to hear his
podcast from a couple of months back where he was
actually contemplating suicide, Like for him to have that moment,
(30:38):
like let's like get him on staff or something like
that so he can fill the presence of BBN all
the time.
Speaker 4 (30:46):
It seemed like he loved it. Mario did it just
it seemed like he strikes me, And I think DeMarcus
is like, this is guys that are kind of at
their happiest Adam when they're here, and I do enjoy
that about him absolutely.
Speaker 12 (31:01):
And the second point, the pre hype video or whatnot.
You know, imagine if we had something like that for
UK football preseason, wouldn't people be more engaged? Like that
that was the best content that UK media or athletics
media has put out over the last five years. And
(31:22):
to see that, it's like, well, you know, that's awesome
for basketball, Man, it would have been nice to have
something like that for football.
Speaker 4 (31:28):
Football's completely screwed up the preseason. I appreciate the call.
They did everything they could have wrong. This is a again,
part of the reason I'm not confident about the future
is they did everything wrong in this offseason.
Speaker 2 (31:39):
Why didn't they have a fan fast event like the
basketball team just had.
Speaker 4 (31:43):
Why didn't they just tell us who our players were?
Speaker 2 (31:45):
Why didn't they have a fan day? Why don't they
have a women's class.
Speaker 6 (31:48):
It wasn't nearly like fan fest basketball, But I mean
they had their open practice.
Speaker 5 (31:52):
They did. They had that for it was the day
after our meeting.
Speaker 6 (31:55):
Now, there wasn't a lot of the extra stuff you'd
want out there, but it did exist.
Speaker 4 (31:58):
I'm with you. I mean basketball all doesn't even need
to do it in some ways, and they did it anyway. Right,
Think about.
Speaker 6 (32:05):
Football right now, where we're very obviously out of crossroads,
and we talk about some people want the team to lose.
It's easier to want the team to lose or or
be disappointed when you don't even really know the people
under the Helpmelie. There's no connection of wanting to just
root for them as people. Really there is exactly right.
He's exactly right. It's it is harder. It's harder to
(32:26):
be critical or hateful to people if you know them.
It's my whole point of how we should watch We
should all learn and talk to people that are different
you're not gonna be as mean to people if you
know them and you like them. We don't know these players,
and so it's easy for people to go, oh, he stinks.
They don't they don't know the first thing about him.
Speaker 2 (32:45):
Seth McGowan's got a great story. We knew nothing of it,
or none knew nothing of him until media days.
Speaker 5 (32:49):
Seth McGowan's really good.
Speaker 2 (32:51):
He is really good.
Speaker 5 (32:52):
Do you think when he walks through Lexington anyone knows
who he is?
Speaker 13 (32:55):
No?
Speaker 2 (32:56):
And he's probably our MVP. Well, he is our MV.
Speaker 4 (32:58):
I mean when he walks, if he walks to the bars,
or let's say he showed up at Big Blue Madness. No,
you think people would know who he Very unlikely?
Speaker 2 (33:08):
And he's a he's our most valuable players.
Speaker 5 (33:10):
I don't think A.
Speaker 2 (33:11):
Nope, I don't either.
Speaker 6 (33:11):
Well, how about at the last game where we have
a receiver come off the bench and he looks like
an NFL pro bowler and everyone in the fan base
has like never heard of this person?
Speaker 5 (33:19):
Yeah, Chris, go ahead.
Speaker 15 (33:23):
Hey, Matt, I just want to say before I start
to I would shake Mark Stuke's hand like if he
were to be let go tomorrow, would shake his hand
and thank him. But I just want to ask me.
Speaker 4 (33:33):
To we should if that happens, we should because he's
done great.
Speaker 5 (33:37):
Stuff here, But go ahead.
Speaker 15 (33:40):
I just want to know, like, after twelve years, I mean,
he's had six different offensive coordinators, we're still seeing the
same end of game or end of half management, clock
management issues Like why if we go six and six,
would y'all like to see him get another shot?
Speaker 4 (33:56):
I just had to like, it's not that I would
like to, it's just I don't think you really have
another choice.
Speaker 5 (34:01):
I appreciate the call because of the thirty seven million
dollars bio.
Speaker 2 (34:05):
And we have to look at the mirror. We still
are Kentucky football, and six wins used to be the benchmark.
We used to be happy and have parades. We get
six wins to go to a bowl game. We're not
too far removed from those days.
Speaker 4 (34:16):
Yeah, I don't think we're gonna have to worry about
that scenario.
Speaker 5 (34:20):
But yeah, I don't think you could fire him if
you want six.
Speaker 2 (34:23):
I don't think so either. Seven is the tough one.
I mean five, five, five, and seven.
Speaker 5 (34:28):
Yeah, seven would be pretty easy.
Speaker 4 (34:30):
Actually for uh there, you know, there's a lot of
myths about UK Federal Credit Union.
Speaker 5 (34:35):
Can I ask UK Federal Credit Union for a favor?
Speaker 2 (34:38):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (34:39):
Can we change my commercial that runs during the games.
Speaker 2 (34:41):
They run it every second of every commercial break.
Speaker 4 (34:45):
If you well, Billy, they had this ad. They asked
me to put on a country accent and they run.
Speaker 2 (34:55):
It NonStop, non stop.
Speaker 5 (34:58):
I love the UK Federal Credit Oh yeah, y'all. I
don't talk like that.
Speaker 3 (35:04):
Brian Kelly when he got the job at the l
s USG talking his country.
Speaker 9 (35:11):
I'll do it.
Speaker 4 (35:11):
I'll do this ad like that. My familyst and there's
yes about UK Federal Credit Union. Billy, No, seriously, go
to the UK Federal Credit Union. It's not hard to join.
They're the myths are busted. All you gotta do is go.
Kentuckians get great rates and real benefits. There's seven local
(35:32):
banches are onlineing under three minutes. Whether you wear blue
or white or not, it's UK Federal Credit Union. We're
not just for some, Shannon, We're for all, y'all. Membership
eligibility required federally insured by n c u A. We'll
take a break, very back, welcome back, take you sports radio, Shannon.
Some breaking news.
Speaker 7 (35:50):
Oh hang on, I'm not even ready.
Speaker 5 (35:53):
You got this. Hang on, I'm waiting all day.
Speaker 4 (35:57):
I do it more important break the news was waiting.
The SEC has released its pre season honors. Otaga away
picked pre season SEC Player of the Year. Wow, First
Team All SEC, Jyalen Lowe predicted third team All SEC,
(36:20):
and Kentucky predicted to be second in the conference behind Florida.
Speaker 5 (36:25):
You like that? You know?
Speaker 2 (36:27):
Otaga a guy we hardly talk. Of course, he's hurt
right now. We don't hardly even talk about him.
Speaker 5 (36:32):
No, we don't. It's crazy. We have preseason SEC Player
of the Year.
Speaker 2 (36:35):
He never gets well, we don't even talk about him.
You know how many when's last time we actually talked
about Otaga helping this team. What he can do to
this team on this show.
Speaker 5 (36:41):
Is just a sure thing.
Speaker 6 (36:42):
Whatever that stat was last year about his double digit games,
you just you know he's gonna show up.
Speaker 5 (36:47):
It is amazing, though, They're like, we don't even know.
Speaker 2 (36:50):
We talk a lot about low We talked about Trent
Noah today, we talked about even YELLOWC haven't mentioned Otega,
and he is the SEC preseason Player of the Year.
Speaker 4 (36:57):
Well, congrats to him. I mean, how about that that's
a kid who I mean when he came here, you
would have never imagined that would be something that would
happen for.
Speaker 6 (37:05):
A lot of people, me included when I'm sure where
he'd fit in and yeah, start eh he kind.
Speaker 4 (37:09):
Of debated that brea away spot.
Speaker 5 (37:12):
Who's gonna go there?
Speaker 4 (37:13):
Boy?
Speaker 6 (37:13):
Did we were weren't sure what was ahead there with him?
He was awesome last year and expected again.
Speaker 4 (37:17):
Totally agree ef I'm nine two eight h twenty two
eighty seven one person rights, Matt, Why do you keep
saying that we have to pay Franklin's buyout? Doesn't Penn State?
Well no, Actually, if you if you negotiate the contracts,
well you can end up with what Penn State has,
which is, if Franklin goes somewhere else, the money's offset.
(37:39):
So let me explain how this should work. Here's what
Franklin should do. But he got fired, so I don't
so because he got fired, he's gonna end up getting it.
But if he goes and work somewhere else, the money
gets offset. So if he comes to you know, Vandy
again and he gets paid six million a year, then
(38:00):
Penn State will only owe him the difference between what
he would have made at Penn State and what he
makes advancing. So here's what coaches do. Here's what Mark
Stoops would do if it wasn't due in twenty days.
He would say, Okay, you owe me thirty seven million dollars.
I want to go coach here for six million dollars
a year, but I want to make all six million dollars.
(38:21):
I don't want to go work there for free. How
about you just give me fifteen or twenty. I'll go
away and then I can make my full salary there
and get this twenty million dollars. UK has an incentive
to do it right.
Speaker 2 (38:35):
Sure they do.
Speaker 4 (38:36):
However, we can't do that because it's all due upfront.
So he can get his money, wait a year and
then go get full money. So the thing that usually
offsets your price of the buy out, we don't even get.
Speaker 5 (38:51):
That's fun, it's fun for us.
Speaker 2 (38:53):
That's what people keep saying. Why didn't Mark Studs fall
on the sword and walk away for what he's done
in the program? Would you do that for?
Speaker 4 (38:59):
That's what I thought would do is cal would say,
buy me out for less, and then I'll go coach
somewhere else and Cindy just left. So Cal actually left
money on the table, KL did. It's the best face
he did, is a I mean like Cal could have
made that a lot worse and he didn't.
Speaker 6 (39:13):
So yeah, I shout out to that Vegas hotel room
at the final four. It's kind of what what got
him in the contract.
Speaker 5 (39:19):
Yeah, let's go to But here's my point.
Speaker 4 (39:21):
If Stoops goes and gets money, goes and gets another job,
it doesn't change the amount we have to pay, all right,
unless he has a job and then he negotiates it
so he can get paid twice, which is the best
possible scenario for Kentucky. He finds another job, he wants
to get that full salary, so he takes less than
(39:41):
the thirty seven million from the take. That's what you
have to hope for if you want him gone.
Speaker 2 (39:45):
But if he keep him build the end of the
season and all these other schools are hiring coaches so quickly, it's.
Speaker 5 (39:50):
A great point. Let's go to Brat Brat.
Speaker 13 (39:57):
Hey, guys, if we can find thirty seven million dollars
to my ole Stokes, wouldn't it be smarter to find
seven or eighteen and a half million for the next
teach in the next two years to go build the roster,
which is the whole reason we're losing. We're not losing
because he's a bad coach. And you could say, oh,
(40:18):
he didn't recruit, Well, he doesn't have the money to
recruit all the guys that were competing against.
Speaker 2 (40:22):
Yeah, but here's the thing.
Speaker 4 (40:24):
I don't buy that money.
Speaker 5 (40:26):
I don't buy that.
Speaker 4 (40:27):
I think you were correct if you're talking about beating Georgia.
But we have spent more on our roster than Bandy has.
We have spent more than Missouri has, and we've probably
spent a pretty equivalent amount to say South Carolina maybe
you know, I don't know what all the Mississippi State, Indiana.
(40:51):
So yeah, I mean, if we were only losing to
the great teams, then I'd be totally with you.
Speaker 5 (40:57):
But we're losing to everybody.
Speaker 13 (41:00):
Did we just not spend money on a quarterback for
a reason, whereas all of those teams we did spend.
Speaker 4 (41:06):
Money on the quarterback. We spent money on Calsota. It
just didn't work. He's getting pretty good money.
Speaker 11 (41:14):
That was a We spent a lot.
Speaker 4 (41:17):
Of money on the offensive line. That's where all the
money we spent I appreciate the car we spent. Our
offensive line cost us a lot of money. That whole
line was paid at least a million bucks each, So
you want to know where our money went and went
to the offensive line.
Speaker 5 (41:32):
It's all there.
Speaker 6 (41:34):
Cals Oda was expensive, but probably a little cheaper than
most people expect because they spent so much on the
guys to protect him, hoping that will kind of help
fix some of the problems.
Speaker 4 (41:41):
So far, it's been okay, yeah, but it's not been
the strength. But yes, we last year money was an issue.
I don't think that's the issue this year, do you.
Speaker 2 (41:53):
I just don't know what you think. They just spent
it on the wrong people the wrong way.
Speaker 4 (41:57):
I think when you don't have the base, the transfer
portal needs to add to your base. Our base was bad,
so we're trying to add, whereas in years past, I
think our base was pretty good.
Speaker 6 (42:10):
And the money thing isn't the reason. It's almost been
two calendar years since we've scored three.
Speaker 5 (42:14):
Touchdowns in a game. Yeah, and the money, it is
not a money thing.
Speaker 4 (42:17):
The money does not cause you to screw up the
clock at the end of the first half every single
correct That's not a money, Andrew, I got like thirty
seconds go ahead.
Speaker 8 (42:28):
I think it's inevitable with the new scheduling that they're
going to add, you know, the ticket prices that want
to go up because we've added the conference game, and
good luck even if he wins four or five games
trying to get people to spend more money to go
watch this again.
Speaker 4 (42:44):
Totally agree, appreciate the call. I mean most schools are
going to raise their ticket prices due to revenue sharing.
Is this a good time for Kentucky to Razor?
Speaker 13 (42:54):
No?
Speaker 1 (42:55):
No, no, no no, So it's just a bad situation.
Speaker 4 (43:00):
All right, We'll be back at studio tomorrow. My Trivia
