by Stockton Mortgage. Now Here's Matt Jones welcome back.

Speaker 4 (01:06):
I Number two Tucky Sports Radio A five nine two
eight oh twenty two eighty seven. The text machine is
seven seven two seven four five two five four. Gonna
take your calls. Talk a little basketball here in just
a second. Let me go over a couple of things.
First of all, shitted. I learned something this weekend.

Speaker 5 (01:20):
I didn't know. I wanted to know if you know,
do you know who the singer role model is? No?

Speaker 3 (01:25):
Never heard of him?

Speaker 5 (01:26):
You ever heard of him? Did you ever heard of him?

Speaker 6 (01:28):
I don't know if it's a man or a woman.

Speaker 4 (01:29):
It's a man. I didn't know who it was either.
Here's the reason I bring this up. He was the
lead singer or not lead singer. He was a guest
singer on Saturday Night Live this weekend, you know, the
musical guest. Yeah, and he has a song. It's called
Sally get your Face or something. It's like something Sally
all right, like Sally, what are you up to?

Speaker 6 (01:52):
Sally?

Speaker 4 (01:53):
See what see what the name of song is. It's
like it's like, hey, Sally, how are you? And I
guess every concert apparently he brings out a Sally okay okay,
and so somebody will come out and they'll be his Sally.

Speaker 3 (02:10):
Is Sally when the wine runs out.

Speaker 4 (02:12):
Sally when the right wine runs out. So somebody comes
out and they're a Salie. Okay, and like apparently it's
a big thing on TikTok who's his Sally?

Speaker 5 (02:22):
Gonna be in every city?

Speaker 6 (02:24):
Uh huh?

Speaker 4 (02:24):
So like you would come to Lexington and maybe Steve's
on would be a Sally. Well'm not kidding it. Sometimes
it's a man's if none as a woman. But they'll
bring somebody out and they'll be sad. And there have
been like all these famous people be the Sui Sally.
So I didn't even know there was a role model,
didn't know there was a Sally, and didn't know there

(02:45):
was a thing that you wanted to be a Sally.
So it goes on Saturday Night Live. Apparently in that
world everybody's like, okay, who's gonna be to Sally?

Speaker 6 (02:52):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (02:52):
You know, And apparently it was that woman Charlie x
I V C four whatever, right, that woman with the
with the number with the Super Bowl letters. I still
know how you say her name, Charlie fourteen. All right, Okay,
she's on there now. Did you know that she and
Taylor Swift feuded, of course not. They both were dating

(03:13):
somebody in the same band long time ago, and now
they've made songs about how each other was mean to
each other.

Speaker 3 (03:21):
Yeah, I think she was in the new Taylor Swift album.

Speaker 4 (03:24):
Apparently the Taylor Swift Alba has something in the album
that's like, you were mean to me, and she was like, no,
you were mean to me.

Speaker 5 (03:29):
So now here's this is all leading to this?

Speaker 4 (03:31):
Okay, while she's Sally on Sarah Live, she wears a
shirt that says Kansas City on it, and the premise
of the Sally is you drink too much, Sally, don't
take your guns to town or whatever winded up that one.
So now there's the question of what's she talking about

(03:52):
Taylor Swift with the Travis Kelcey Kansas City shirt. I
like this level of intrigue because I want there to
be pettiness that leads you to wear the shirt of
the city of the place where your boyfriend is from
in a in a huge, huge stage, that huge stage.
I knew about the boyfriend beef. His name's Matt.

Speaker 7 (04:11):
Okay, so that I'm somewhat hip on Charlie X kicks
and Taylor Swift feud. I didn't know about this thing
on Saturday night?

Speaker 5 (04:18):
Do you are there?

Speaker 4 (04:19):
Are there other do men? Singers have these kind of beefs.
Usually they just threaten to kill each other. Yeah, it
was like they don't. They don't sit here.

Speaker 7 (04:26):
And do this like Young Jeezy and Gucci man Gucie
Mane when they were beefing. They I don't remember petty
t shirts and boyfriend drama like this.

Speaker 5 (04:36):
I like it. Yeah, And I now know what a
Sally is.

Speaker 4 (04:39):
And apparently that guy I think he's coming to Lexington or.

Speaker 6 (04:43):
Louisville here soon, the role model guy.

Speaker 5 (04:45):
So we got to figure out who's gonna be. Who's
gonna be Sally? How about you? Andy?

Speaker 7 (04:49):
But I didn't recognize his name, but I've seen the
Sally trend. Can't gets like a list celebrities he does.

Speaker 6 (04:56):
And he can't sing.

Speaker 5 (04:58):
He can't.

Speaker 4 (04:59):
I don't and Sarry I'll have you sounded awful. I
don't say that to be mean to him. He just
brings out people to that's He just brings out people
so that they'll go who. It's a kind of a
good gimmick though, so so lection and Sally, Who's it?
Gonna be Ashley Judd. I cain't say Andy, but sheer?
Did you bring out Andy?

Speaker 6 (05:16):
Andy is kind of everywhere right now?

Speaker 5 (05:17):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (05:17):
Apparently have to wear cowboy boots, so I don't know,
like knee highs. I don't know how he would look
at that. Uh did you hear Ryan about Cape ver Day?
I have not heard about Cape ver Day?

Speaker 5 (05:30):
Do you know what Kate very Day is?

Speaker 6 (05:32):
Very Day is green, the green cape.

Speaker 1 (05:35):
So it's a cape, is a green Cape ver Day
is green?

Speaker 6 (05:41):
Kate Veraday's a country okay?

Speaker 5 (05:43):
In Africa? All right?

Speaker 4 (05:45):
They became the smallest country in history yesterday to make
the World Cup. Wow, okay, would you like to know
how big it is?

Speaker 6 (05:53):
I would like to know this.

Speaker 5 (05:54):
Three hundred and eleven miles.

Speaker 6 (05:58):
That's it.

Speaker 5 (05:59):
It is only has.

Speaker 6 (06:00):
Just like I was looking at waiting for more.

Speaker 4 (06:05):
It only has as its population right now, five hundred
thousand people. Okay, smaller like just to give an example,
one tenth the population of Kentucky.

Speaker 5 (06:16):
Wow, they made it. They are can They consist of
ten volcanic islands, Cape Verdey, and they are now in
the World Cup. Will be the smallest country to have
ever made it. Are you four K and they're coming
to America. Are you for.

Speaker 4 (06:30):
Cape vere I am for them. I've only been a
country since nineteen seventy.

Speaker 6 (06:34):
Five, So how do they do that? They pull up
a big games, I mean they have a big upset.

Speaker 5 (06:38):
Well, they have qualifying for the World Cup and they qualified.
Now the World Cup is expanding.

Speaker 4 (06:43):
It's bigger this year than it has been in years past,
but still it's it's still quite an accomplishment.

Speaker 6 (06:48):
Cape verday, cape verdey. So will you be for Cape verdeon?
I am that's my new team?

Speaker 5 (06:53):
You like Cape Verde?

Speaker 4 (06:54):
And do I saw this? It'd be like Lexington making
the World Cup? No, I mean this is the this
is a place the size of Lexing.

Speaker 8 (07:01):
Huh.

Speaker 4 (07:01):
Can you imagine if Lexington had a World Cup team?
It could be playing Brazil in the World Cup. Yes,
they've competed at every Summer Olympics. They've never won a medal. Uh,
They've never been to a World Cup. They've never been
to any international championship. But they will be in America
in twenty twenty.

Speaker 6 (07:19):
They did had good recruiting year.

Speaker 4 (07:21):
It sounds like, well, so there you go, just a
little bit of information. They're gonna be the World Cup Darling. Yeah,
wherever they are, they're going to have the crowd.

Speaker 5 (07:28):
Sure they should. Let's go to Terry. Go ahead, Terry.

Speaker 9 (07:34):
A Stoops take and then a question about or comment
on Texas Tennessee. So six and twenty six, please fact
check me on that. Six and twenty six is stoops
record in his last thirty two sec games. No quote, sure's.

Speaker 4 (07:53):
Correct, but that's probably that sounds correct, That's that's probably correct.

Speaker 9 (07:58):
Yes, no coach in this universe survives that. I mean,
I like Mark. He's done. He's done a good job.
And to your point, last hour, he just stayed too long.
He when he had that Texas A and m gig
Or thought he did, that's probably when he should have left.

Speaker 5 (08:16):
That would have been the good moment, that would it.

Speaker 4 (08:18):
It's in hindsight, it's kind of like the you know,
the the col U c l A moment. It's probably
good for everybody had the change occurred. Then probably the
same thing here too.

Speaker 9 (08:33):
Because as you said, also, he can't look in the
mirror at this point and think I'm doing a good job.
I'm doing what I'm supposed to be doing. So hopefully
over time the rest of the season. I know, barring
some kind of scandal, Barnhart's not going to fire him
in the middle season, and I don't want him to,
but I think he has to sit down and say, hey,
for the betterment of everybody, I need to move on now.

(08:55):
Saying having said that, also, I don't have these stats
in front of me, but night on the s in
sec on the road are very hard to win. The
home team has an advantage for various reasons. So we
got two games back to back. I think we can
win one of them. I think we can win one
of the night.

Speaker 5 (09:14):
It would be the most stoopis thing.

Speaker 4 (09:15):
And I appreciate it, Terry to win one of these, Yep,
it would be It would be a very stoopis thing.

Speaker 5 (09:20):
Like I mean again, I just I keep saying, what
if he won Saturday?

Speaker 4 (09:24):
If he won Saturday, the whole I just want you
to think about what would happen if he won Saturday,
the whole national media would be pricing him because you
would end Texas chance at the playoffs ended, You'd be
beating Arch.

Speaker 5 (09:39):
Everybody would go see Kentucky fans want to fire that guy.
Look how stupid they are.

Speaker 4 (09:44):
He goes and then we might still finish four and eight,
which I think you still have to make the move, but.

Speaker 2 (09:51):
For one week we would be the king of the
media Texas.

Speaker 4 (09:55):
You could totally I don't think it will, but you
could see that happening. Do you think the place will
It'll be full Saturday, close to it. I don't know
what color they'll be wearing.

Speaker 7 (10:04):
Could be a lot of cowboy hats and burn orange
in there, but I think it would be a good crowd.
I just me personally. I know so many people that
have played this since February. This is like their weekend.
I'm going to lex in Keenland, Texas game.

Speaker 4 (10:15):
And there's the star power of arch Manning, even though
he's been a little disappointing. You know, there's a sense
of that's Arch Manning. You might one day want to
have said, just like you when we saw t Bow here,
and we saw Cam Newton here, and we saw Lamar
Jackson here, you could say, I saw that guy play
in the State Texas logo and when's up there here
exactly dres right.

Speaker 6 (10:35):
I mean, people have played this weekend all year.

Speaker 10 (10:37):
Now.

Speaker 2 (10:37):
The fact that there's the Blue White game and then
the football game and people play on coming in doing them,
both of them going to Keenland during the day. I
think it'll end up being a good crowd because of
that everything else going on parent's Weekend's weekend.

Speaker 4 (10:47):
Yeah, eight five nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven.
Couple open lines, Matt, Go ahead.

Speaker 11 (10:51):
Matt, Hey got a question for you. Two questions actually.
Number one Coylin Chance shoes that he was wearing in
the dunk contest. I know their nikes, but I need
a sneakerhead to help me figure out what what kind
of nikes they are.

Speaker 4 (11:08):
Yes, I look question, but because I didn't see it,
but I'll look it up right now. But go ahead, right.

Speaker 11 (11:17):
The question Number two is Trent Noah's shot. Had you
seen anything that beautiful in your entire life?

Speaker 4 (11:24):
Well, may our guy were here, Ryan said it was.
I still can't believe with your high purple. I appreciate
the call that you thought that you think that is
the best. He has a chance to be the best
jumper ever in UK history. You believe that.

Speaker 2 (11:38):
I just watched him in that three point contest the
other night and it brought tears to my eyes. It
was a thing of beauty, A guy from Harlan County
knocking down threes like it was a layup all in
the contest.

Speaker 6 (11:48):
Brought tears to your eye, tears to my eyes.

Speaker 4 (11:50):
I mean, he's got a he's got a pure jumper,
and when you watch him in warm ups, it reminds
me of like, who are the great Kentucky warm ups?

Speaker 9 (11:58):
You?

Speaker 4 (11:58):
Antonio Reeves could make one hundred in a row without missing,
Kellen Grady could make like one hundred in a row
without missing. Travis Ford back in.

Speaker 6 (12:08):
The day, Yeah, Derek Miller back in the day.

Speaker 7 (12:10):
Like, but that's he kind of looks a little bit
like that. The shot looks good. I'm getting worried about
the summer talk. Remember last year, all the buzz was
Travis Perry has not missed all summer, and then he
shot thirty percent in the season. So I'm worried we're
gonna get a little too carried away and set this
bar that's impossible to reach, because it is everyone is
not just Ryan. Everyone is just raving about Trent Noah's

(12:31):
a three point shooter. Yeah, to the point it's I'm
worried it's gonna be one of those summer tales that
never pans out.

Speaker 4 (12:36):
I can't get a good view of his shoes here
to tell you what kind they are, because everything's a
video and it goes by too quick. So if I
see one, though, all right, we'll get Mario Toway. Yeah,
he'll he'll know the difference. A five nine, two eighty
seven Kentucky ninth in the AP pole. Does that sound right?

Speaker 7 (12:53):
Poetic number nine? I liked your head of Louisville. Will
ignore the BYU was number eight? Doesn't really matter there.
Florida's only SEC team ahead of you there, It's about
where I would have put them.

Speaker 6 (13:04):
Yeah, you got That's what I looked. Who was ahead
of them?

Speaker 2 (13:05):
Well, you can't make an argument earlier at this point.
Right now, I'm just glad that Florida was the only
SEC team is ahead of them.

Speaker 4 (13:11):
Ken Pom, we were fourth, just behind Purdue Houston and Florida.

Speaker 7 (13:15):
H huh, Yeah, that's I love that people trust Kenpom.
It's getting a little harder with these transfers, these brand
new teams.

Speaker 4 (13:21):
It's hard for me to know what he bases his
data on when you have a whole new teams.

Speaker 5 (13:25):
But nevertheless, yeah, it's still good to be full.

Speaker 7 (13:27):
I love seeing a lot of gamblers trust Ken Palm
more than anything, so as much as we like seeing
it on the AP and you know all these votes
coming in Ken Pom's if we trust the numbers, I mean,
he's the one that's really reliable.

Speaker 4 (13:37):
Of our thirty one games this season, twelve are against
top twenty five teams.

Speaker 2 (13:44):
You like that, of course, you know, bring them on?
We right, we eit scared of nobody, bring them on,
Let's play them.

Speaker 4 (13:49):
You say that, but like you know you're gonna have
twelve top twenty five games. You could be good, go
six and six, and you just took six losses. I
mean that's a hard schedule. We play lord To twice
there on there, we played Tennessee twice there on there.
You know, Michigan State is ranked, gon zag is ranked,
Saint John's is ranked. Then you I mean, even when

(14:12):
you go to the DON Conference, Perdue North Carolina is ranked.
I mean, all these teams that we play. Indiana is
the only good non conference game in the year that's
not the team is not ranked.

Speaker 5 (14:22):
I love It's where it should be. You you you're
fine with it.

Speaker 6 (14:26):
I love it.

Speaker 2 (14:26):
I want this kind of schedule every year where like
I said, we're Kentucky, we should play.

Speaker 6 (14:30):
The best, best of the best.

Speaker 4 (14:31):
I agree, but it is this one is a per
you know, is a particularly strong one. Don Franklin Atto
dot com. If you would like a vehicle, go to
Don franklo Otto. Great selection, great prices. There's one near you.
It's Don Franklin. They've got all the vehicles, but more
importantly the service. They'll come, they'll help you check it out,
and if they don't have the vehicle you want, they'll
go search their other dealerships and they'll bring.

Speaker 5 (14:50):
It to you.

Speaker 4 (14:51):
About that, that's pretty good. It's Don Franklin Auto dot Com.
There's one near you. It's Don Franklin. Driven by Family.
We'll take a break bery back. It's KSR. Welcome back,
Tekey Sports Radio. Some people reminded me Kendrick and Lamar
did that for a whole year. I just meant that
theirs was a lot more direct. They were just like
they said very mean things about each other, big accusations.

(15:13):
The women are kind of more subtle. Now, this is
the Sally. This is the song Shannon.

Speaker 3 (15:18):
Yeah, Sally runs out of wine, or when the Sally,
when the wine runs.

Speaker 4 (15:23):
Out, Sally when the rye. Yeah, so see, now you
know the the thing people are interested.

Speaker 6 (15:30):
It brings out a local celebrity and that.

Speaker 4 (15:32):
Sometimes you I mean, you know it's been what had
they been? They've been like Hillary Duff, I saw Natalie Portman. Yeah,
the woman from uh, what's the woman from? Almost famous?

Speaker 5 (15:44):
What's her name? Anyway? Point being like famous people these
names I can't remember.

Speaker 3 (15:50):
Yeah, so famous, you can't remember them?

Speaker 4 (15:52):
Yes, Kate Hudson, they're all Sally, They're all Sally.

Speaker 5 (15:57):
That's right. Uh, it was Sabrina to shoes. That's what
Colin Chandler's wearing.

Speaker 4 (16:02):
I have some of those, not the ones he has,
but I have a different color Sabrina too. That's it's
a it's it's the female basketball player, but like tons
of male players wear very cool. There you go, af
I'm nine two eight twenty two eighty seven. One person
writes yes or no? Do we beat Perdue next Friday? Shannon, No,

(16:22):
I'll say yes. I'm gonna say yes.

Speaker 5 (16:24):
Why not.

Speaker 4 (16:24):
We're playing at home, We're gonna have age for an
exhibition game. We're gonna have a huge crowd.

Speaker 7 (16:29):
I'm also worried Pope and Painter are gonna be treating
this as an exhibition scrimmage where our fans are gonna
overanalyze and treat it like it's a championship game.

Speaker 5 (16:37):
Right, that's what we do. I'm fine with that.

Speaker 2 (16:40):
See, I'm I think Drew's right. I think Pope's gonna
try to find the right combinations of the right players
and use this kind as a glorified scrimmage.

Speaker 5 (16:47):
But he's still gonna want to win.

Speaker 6 (16:48):
Yeah, he's gonna play a lot all the while.

Speaker 5 (16:50):
Painter do that.

Speaker 6 (16:51):
I don't know if he does. He have to have
fourteen guys he can play.

Speaker 4 (16:54):
Well, do you know the number one team in the country.
They have a number one team in the country. Like
iigure it out, we have to remember that other teams
have too and they have needs, and they might want
to do the same thing. But I'm saying they might
maybe Matt Painter wants.

Speaker 5 (17:05):
To do the same.

Speaker 6 (17:05):
So as Matt Painter as deep as Kentucky.

Speaker 4 (17:08):
I honestly have no I'm asking you, So he maye
Matt Payton may ain't play seven or eight guys.

Speaker 6 (17:12):
We're gonna play fourteen, Okay.

Speaker 4 (17:16):
I would say that Purdue would probably look at guys
that we know and think they don't register on their radar, right,
So like our eleventh and twelfth guy, we know who
they are.

Speaker 5 (17:28):
Yeah, Purdue probably doesn't.

Speaker 4 (17:30):
Purdue probably thinks their eleventh and twelfth guys are as
good as ours. Some chances are it's just my gas.
Chances are both of those coaches will treat the game
the same way, whether that is go out and win
or play. I think they'll probably treat it the same. Oh,
there's gonna be a conversation probably what are we doing? Yeah,
they're gonna want to win, for sure, especially being at home.
Pope's goning and give that to the fans. But I

(17:51):
do think there's gonna be a part of it where
you don't run off, but you're you're not. Do you
think we'll have to go there next year?

Speaker 7 (17:57):
I wondered if that's the agreement, because for PRDU agreed
to this was a big move.

Speaker 4 (18:01):
I mean, I can understand Georgetown coming because like no
one's going to their preseason games anyway, But if Purdue
were to host this game, they would fill that arena
up and Purdue fans would be very excited.

Speaker 5 (18:14):
I have to think that we said we would go
there sometimes I would think so too.

Speaker 7 (18:18):
I mean, they have the number one team, one of
the best players in the country that they thought was
gonna transfer or leave, and they end up convincing him
to stay. Their excitement is as high as it's probably
been a long, long, long, long time, and they agreed
to go to Lexington, so they've I got to think
they get something in return.

Speaker 6 (18:32):
You think Pope's gonna ask him not to play zone
like cal.

Speaker 4 (18:37):
Pope's gonna I'm disagreeing with the premise. Pope's not gonna
try it like Pope's gonna be playing to win. We'll
play a lot of people, but if with six minutes
to go, he's winning to trying to win the game,
he's not like, let's see what happens with yellowvich here.

Speaker 7 (18:50):
Yeah, but I think in the first half and throughout
the game they will treat it a little different than
the would have filled the final four. I'll get more
bodies in and try things just to get a fill
of what they happen.

Speaker 2 (18:59):
You're right that final six minutes, and then you want
to work on those situations, those late game situations.

Speaker 6 (19:03):
Try to win it.

Speaker 5 (19:04):
Yeah, pre bird, go ahead, free bird.

Speaker 12 (19:08):
Hey, guys, a big shout out to Clay County. I've
been working down here last week and a couple of
days this week. You've got a lot of listeners down here,
and I.

Speaker 4 (19:19):
Love Clay County. That's to me that that's those are
good Mountain thirteenth Region people.

Speaker 5 (19:26):
And what are you doing down there?

Speaker 12 (19:29):
Well, it's from my work. I do character educating books
for first and first graders down here in all the
elementary schools, and very great family and support for the
children down here. And you got what are the two
businesses where?

Speaker 5 (19:43):
Yeah? What are the two places that we always like
to eat?

Speaker 4 (19:45):
There's that Pats Pats that's the kind of greasy spoon plays.

Speaker 6 (19:50):
And then what's the place that was really nice that hosted.

Speaker 5 (19:52):
Us down the time?

Speaker 6 (19:54):
It was right next door we did the show.

Speaker 5 (19:56):
What was that? It was really really good.

Speaker 12 (20:00):
Whenever you're down here, you gotta eat. You got to
eat it. Pizza Pro? And I asked him, you ever
listened to KSR and they go all the time. I said,
do you ever hear a guy named Freebirg call in?
And is that you.

Speaker 5 (20:13):
Listen?

Speaker 12 (20:15):
Makes the world get smaller?

Speaker 10 (20:16):
Man?

Speaker 4 (20:17):
Well, thank you very much, enjoy it. Pizza Pro. Good
Clay County Pizza. I remember pats really well, Shane. I
wanted to I meant wanted to mention something to you.
Have you ever heard of Ohio Valley pizza?

Speaker 13 (20:29):
No?

Speaker 3 (20:30):
Is it in Louisville?

Speaker 4 (20:31):
Okay, I've never heard this phrase before. You ever heard
the phrase Ohio Valley pizza? I want you to look
it up. Look up on your little Google machines.

Speaker 5 (20:40):
Ohio Valley.

Speaker 3 (20:41):
I've had a Higo Valley wrestling pizza.

Speaker 5 (20:43):
Well, of course, I mean I've had Ohio Valley wrestling.

Speaker 4 (20:45):
But I went I was in Knoxville and I went
to a concert a while back, and right down from
the Tennessee Theater was a place that said they served
famous Ohio Valley pizza. And I went what, Because, of
course I'm thinking Ohio Valley wrestling, which is Louisville. And

(21:08):
I was like, what is Ahile Valley pizza? So I
went in and it was the worst thing I've ever
tasted in my entire life.

Speaker 5 (21:17):
No, it was awful. It's pizza.

Speaker 4 (21:19):
You can look it up that they cook and then
after they've cooked it, they put the toppings on.

Speaker 3 (21:26):
It sounds like a terrible pizza.

Speaker 4 (21:29):
It's a cold topping pizza. They put and the cheese
on the pizza after they cook it, and it's awful.
It's the worst thing I've tasted. I wonder why no
one was there. I don't know how that place is open,
no offense to it next close to the Tennessee Theater.

Speaker 5 (21:47):
But when did that? When was Ohio Valley pizza thing?

Speaker 7 (21:52):
I thought you were talking about There was a restaurant
called that, But no, this has its own Wikipedia page
as a style of pizza? Of it?

Speaker 6 (22:00):
Channon, You and I live in the Ohio Valley heard
of it before? Is there a place in Louisal that serves?

Speaker 3 (22:07):
If there is, I'm not aware of it.

Speaker 5 (22:09):
Are you aware of an Ohio Valley pizza?

Speaker 6 (22:11):
Never heard of it? And there are square pieces, there's
square pieces.

Speaker 3 (22:15):
It sounds like a terrible concept.

Speaker 4 (22:16):
It's a horrible It tastes bad. Imagine a hot pizza
with cold toppings on top.

Speaker 3 (22:23):
I would say put this back in the microwave.

Speaker 5 (22:25):
So would I.

Speaker 7 (22:28):
Like the Papa Murphy's taking bakes, You just don't bake them. Yeah,
that's exactly right. Pizza but A.

Speaker 5 (22:34):
I can't believe it exists.

Speaker 4 (22:36):
B I cannot believe it's named for where we live,
and I don't do you. Is there one place in
Kentucky that serves it?

Speaker 7 (22:44):
No, it says mostly Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia, but
it was created in Steubenville, Ohio. A guy in World
War two eight pizza in Italy and came home and
tried to recreate it and obviously wasn't very good at
getting it perfect cook the top. He just tried to
do it by memory is what this here, and got
a part of putting it in the oven in Stupenville.

(23:04):
But I guess they're big in West Virginia too.

Speaker 4 (23:07):
I had never heard of either. Do not recommend it,
but it looked good. I was thinking. I mean, I
guess Ohio Valley does go into Pittsburgh, but I'm thinking
Ohio Valley Wrestling. YEA, our pizza at the arena is
better than it really is awful tighty seven.

Speaker 5 (23:26):
We'll take a break right back, KSR. TJ. Smith, personal
injury attorney called TJ. He'll make them pay now.

Speaker 3 (23:33):
More of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's
Matt Jones.

Speaker 4 (23:38):
So this is this is so Taylor Swift about did
about Charlie fourteen.

Speaker 3 (23:41):
That's right.

Speaker 5 (23:42):
She said, I heard you call me boring at the parties.

Speaker 3 (23:46):
Boring Arby, boring Barbie, boring Barbie when the cokes got
you brave high five by X and then you said
you're glady ghost at me.

Speaker 5 (23:54):
Wow, coke guy. And she doesn't mean Coca cola.

Speaker 3 (23:57):
No, I think she means cocaine.

Speaker 5 (23:58):
Wow.

Speaker 4 (24:00):
Taylor gets pretty nasty in her future. That's why Travis
Kelsey can't break up with It is over.

Speaker 3 (24:07):
She letter calls her a toy shih wahwah, barking from
a tiny purse.

Speaker 4 (24:14):
I know she had that kind of rage bait in
her and do we know it's about her?

Speaker 3 (24:19):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (24:20):
I mean, okay, I want to give a shout out
the lex and Harrell leader who I've been critical with
over the years. But they're doing something cool. You know,
Lexington's having its two hundred and fifteth anniversary, right, so
every single day they're doing something about Lexington. Okay, history,
good fact, bad fact, whatever, they're actually really good cool.

(24:40):
Today's I wanted to point out because it's about UK football,
and specifically it's about Middlesbrough. As many of you know,
Kentucky integrated the SEC football. Four players right, Nate Northington,
the Hog What's Houston Hog? And Wilbur Had and then
a guy named Greg Page. And a lot of people

(25:03):
know Greg Page because the apartments that were at U Crea,
but Greg Page was from Middlesborough. Greg Page and Nate
Northington were actually the first two people to come be
on the team, but as freshmen they were not allowed
to play. Then the next year they were allowed to play,
but in preseason practice, Greg Page died on the field.
He got hit and suffered a neck injury and he

(25:27):
I think he ended up dying six weeks later in
the hospital. It's kind of a forgotten part of UK history.
He's one of the four people though honored in front
of the stadium, but the other three played. Greg unfortunately
didn't get to play in a game. He's from Middlesborough
growing up. I knew his name forever, but this is
a neat part of the story I didn't know. So

(25:47):
he died in nineteen sixty seven. In nineteen sixty eight,
the Kentucky and Tennessee basketball team agreed to play a
fundraiser at Middlesborough High School, a preseason back basketball fundraiser.
Kentucky played Tennessee at Middlesborough High School in nineteen sixty eight.

Speaker 5 (26:06):
So I'm trying to think who would have been on
that team. I don't even know who would.

Speaker 4 (26:09):
Have been like aster Rup Runts before Assel, so that group,
whatever it is, they played Tennessee four thousand people at
Middlesborough High School, which created a benefit that set up
a scholarship that still exists to this day, the Greg
Page Scholarship that sends students from Bell County to the
University of Kentucky.

Speaker 6 (26:28):
Fantastic story.

Speaker 4 (26:30):
Awesome, So think about that first of all, when you
see the Greg Page apartments, which they're talking about tearing
down for the entertainment district unfortunately. But when you see
that name one of the first players to integrate UK
football from Middlesborough. They leads to a game between Kentucky
and Tennessee in the preseason in Middlesborough.

Speaker 6 (26:51):
Does anyone remember that That's the first.

Speaker 5 (26:53):
I've ever heard of this. I'm trying to look up
like a box score or something right now is returned it.

Speaker 4 (26:57):
Was a preseason game, not it was a non radio
just for the people in Bell County.

Speaker 6 (27:02):
I've never heard of this that I love every second
of it though.

Speaker 4 (27:04):
And then the money there started a scholarship that is
still in that still exists today for students from Bell
County to go to it to.

Speaker 2 (27:12):
I'm really glad, the hair leader writes this story because
most people just know the Greg Page name from the apartments.
They need to know who Greg Page was, what he
meant to this university, and how much that devastated the
program back in those days.

Speaker 4 (27:22):
And even though I knew about all that, I didn't
know about the basketball game. I didn't either had no
idea and so kudos to Tennessee. So the University of
Tennessee helped do a game that created a scholarship that
still send kids from my home area to UK.

Speaker 7 (27:35):
The story says the game was played in February, so
they would have had to have done it didn't during
the year. They did it during the year February nineteen
sixty eight. I guess it didn't turn different the regular
season game.

Speaker 4 (27:48):
It was just so in the middle of the season
since they just played a game at Middlesborough High School.

Speaker 7 (27:54):
In February nineteen sixty eight, a benefit basketball game was
played in the Middlesborough Gym between the UK and Tennessee
for freshman basketball teams played it.

Speaker 4 (28:02):
Still still very cool, okay, freshman basket. So that's why
why I didn't count towards the season. It's still cool
that they did it though.

Speaker 5 (28:09):
Yeah, and it says four thousand people.

Speaker 6 (28:11):
That's nuts.

Speaker 5 (28:11):
You know.

Speaker 4 (28:11):
They how to recreate that Kentucky and Tennessee freshman dude,
like the fifty year anniversary or whatever, sixty year anniversary
and play it at Middlesborough High School.

Speaker 5 (28:21):
I need another Tennessee team to hate. Let's set it
up the good Joshua, go ahead.

Speaker 13 (28:25):
Joshua, Hey, guys, thanks for taking my call up. With
the starting five lineup kind of locked in with low
Oway and Garrisons in the starting lineup, I was just
kind of curious, who do you guys think the other
two spots for the starters would be? And who the
six man off the bench would be? And also do
you with how deep the team is, do you guys
see them doing a mass substitution like a white Blue

(28:47):
team fifteen kind of thing?

Speaker 5 (28:49):
No, no, go ahead, what's your other one?

Speaker 14 (28:54):
No? No, I was just going to ask you. We'll
tell you left yesterday. I called her brought up the
live action one piece three. It's eight episodes. It condenses
the first one hundred and fifty episodes of the anime
in of eight to forty minute episodes, and you should
definitely check it out.

Speaker 5 (29:06):
Thanks guys, all right, appreciate it. All right.

Speaker 4 (29:09):
So starters Low and o Way Drew are the only
ones I would guarantee. I mean, it's very likely Garrison starts,
but I would Low and Oay are my only guarantees.

Speaker 7 (29:19):
Are we doing to start the year or like February?
Because these are different conversations, Let's do both. Because Garrison
to me is pretty much a lock to start the
year right now, but that spot could be taken away.

Speaker 5 (29:29):
Okay, I would.

Speaker 4 (29:31):
I mean, you're probably right. I think Quaintance is spending
a few four or five where they start diabat and
just are small. I don't think it happens. I don't
think it's gonna happen to the end of the year,
but I could see games where they do it. All right,
So let's say Low Oway Garrison opening night, Perdue.

Speaker 5 (29:48):
Who's the rest of the lineup? Do bat Well?

Speaker 4 (29:52):
First of all, assume o Wait plays. I assume he will.
But let's he's gonna play low Oway Garrison Diabata.

Speaker 5 (29:58):
Yeah, and then I'm down the Aberdeen or Chandler. Okay,
probably I go back and forth.

Speaker 4 (30:05):
I'm gonna go Aberdeen. I was gonna get I thought
Jasper Johnson. I know, I don't think he's gonna start now,
So I'm gonna say Aberdeen. I'm gonna say it's gonna
be low a way Aberdeen, Diabate, Garrison.

Speaker 2 (30:16):
I think that's it. I think they want Chandler to
be maybe their sixth guy because he could play two
or three different positions coming off the bench. I think
he's a perfect guy to believe be that first stub
off the bench Shannon.

Speaker 5 (30:26):
But the moment Acquaintance is available, he's taking someone's spot.

Speaker 4 (30:29):
At the that's right, I could see it being Diabate
and Quaintance. The only thing that worries me about this team.
This is my only worry. You remember last year, my
worry was we can't guard. I think that ended up
being a worry most of the year. Here's my worry
about this year's team. I think overall they've got enough shooting.
I specifically worry about the four spot until you get quaintance.

(30:55):
I think Diabaate, I don't think he can shoot, So
I think if you play him at the four, think
about Mark Pope's fours, you gotta shoot, Think about Ansley
Almanor standing in the corner. I don't really think he
can shoot. And then if you play Cam Williams, I
think he can shoot, but I don't know if he
can defend and rebound. So that's gonna be I think

(31:18):
a constant back and forth. Can they get what they
need from the four because they need diabate because that
Amari Williams role of kind of dribbling and handing off.
I think that's gonna be what he does. But he's
also gonna have to shoot. He had a decent percentage.
He just didn't shoot much at Alabama. But when you
look at his shot, yeah, no, whatever his percentage was,

(31:39):
it's not it's not pure.

Speaker 7 (31:41):
But he's gonna offer more at the four than like
Andrew Carr. Ever, he could have dreamed of doing it,
and I like Andrew carry Pope just went a completely
different direction with this year.

Speaker 4 (31:49):
Totally agree with you. And maybe he plays a style
where the four doesn't have to shoot. Yeah, but the
style he played last year, your four's got to hit
that corner.

Speaker 5 (31:58):
Three and I don't think that's gonna be what he does.

Speaker 2 (32:01):
But I think, like you said, he'll just kind of
rotate those guys, even Yellovich, you know, if you need
to stand out in the corner and like get as
many minutes as amin Or did.

Speaker 4 (32:08):
And I don't know, but I think with Elovich, Yellowch
and Garrison that's not a good defensive.

Speaker 6 (32:14):
So do you move Debaut eight the five?

Speaker 4 (32:16):
I think you're gonna I think people are underestimating how
much he's gonna play the five. I agree, I think
he's gonna play. I think he's actually a great five.
But then the question is can Trent, Noah and Cam
Williams do enough to be the four?

Speaker 5 (32:29):
And if the answer is yes, then I think you're good.
I think you have too many fives to crowd it
with Diabode. I don't.

Speaker 4 (32:38):
I continue to believe there's a very good chance Yellowvich
doesn't play much, at least some for a while. But
I still think everbody just assumes he's gonna play a lot.
I don't know that that's true.

Speaker 7 (32:48):
I still see him as more four. I'm talking Garrison
Marino is gonna play. I thought he might be storm
on the bench for later Marino is playing minutes.

Speaker 4 (32:55):
But I could see Marino playing four because I think
Marino is a lot more of a four than Yellovich is.

Speaker 5 (33:02):
Yelovich cannot guard.

Speaker 4 (33:03):
I mean, Yelovich is gonna be the worst defender of
the team, like he's he's z defending. Yeah, so you
just I think you have to hide him at the
five or you can't really play.

Speaker 7 (33:14):
And it might be okay, we don't have a true
four and a five with this, with the way popeill
run the system, might have a guy you're calling the five,
but in how they play might have a little bit
of a different role, might be a little more fluid inside.

Speaker 2 (33:24):
I do like Diabate's role that Mario had last year
at the when he plays the five, I think he
can handle that role.

Speaker 4 (33:30):
I think, I listen, we're gonna like diabaatee. I just
don't think he's a shooter. I do think our guards
shoot better than maybe we thought they did.

Speaker 6 (33:37):
Yeah, all of them.

Speaker 4 (33:39):
We've got the men's Lexington Sporting Club team. They have
a game Friday, October seventeenth. It's the final game at home.
They play against the Sacramento Republic FC at six pm.
It's exactly right. Let's say you're like, eh, UK, Texas
gonna be crowded, We're gonna lose. How about Lexi tonestc
Sacramento Republic. First two Thay fans in attendance, get a

(34:01):
Lexington sc Beanie Shannon.

Speaker 3 (34:05):
That's cool.

Speaker 4 (34:05):
Yeah, you can rally behind the lads in green. Didn't
you have a couple of them on your show there? Shannon, Speedy,
Meeedy and Nick. Is his name really Speedy?

Speaker 3 (34:15):
I don't think that's his nickname. He hasn't scored a
goal though, in three years, so we got to get
Speedy at goals this Saturday.

Speaker 7 (34:20):
It's my favorite part of the interview. Billy asked him,
like what his celebration is. He's like, man, I haven't
scored in several seasons.

Speaker 4 (34:25):
Yeah he can still so bad for Speedy, still celebrate
other people's going.

Speaker 5 (34:30):
But you know what he's scoring this Saturday.

Speaker 4 (34:32):
Yeah, you wait and see Speedy is scoring against Sacramento
FC KSR bump. We gotta keep a track see if
Speedy gets his goal. You go to lex Sporting dot
com slash tickets to watch or watch the game on
Fox fifty six.

Speaker 7 (34:47):
Go We'll tw a hot streak. By the way, they
started a little cold. They're a contender over there. Let's

take you sports radio.

Speaker 4 (34:56):
If I'm nine two to eight oh twenty two eighty seven,
let me tell you quickly about a State Renovations.

Speaker 5 (35:02):
I know you were wondering if.

Speaker 4 (35:04):
You wouldn't wait, if you wouldn't wait until tip off
to buy tickets. So why wait till January to plan
your remodel. State Renovations is ready with spots in January
and February kitchen, bathroom or whole home makeover. Get your
agreement on paper, get your product on there, get your
project on the calendar, and then you don't get stuck
in the back of line. It's the State renos dot
com slash KSR State renos r e n os dot

(35:29):
com slash KSR State Renovations. Beat the rush you found
or somebody sent you. Corey Price the box score for
the Kentucky Tennessee freshman game in nineteen sixty eight, So
first of all, tell me who was on Kentucky's team.

Speaker 7 (35:45):
The most recognizable name was Larry Steele. He went on
to be all sec on the on the big team,
the varsity team.

Speaker 2 (35:52):
So Larry Steele played at MIDDLESNBAK from Indiana.

Speaker 7 (35:56):
A lot of the other guys didn't go on past
their freshman year. There's only seven people on the team.
But Steve Schmidt led the team in scoring against Tennessee.
He had thirty four points as Kentucky won by twenty
ninety four.

Speaker 4 (36:09):
I was in here looking six foot eleven Steve Schmidt
scored thirty four points in Middlesborough High School. Did he
play at Kentucky? I don't believe he did.

Speaker 6 (36:20):
What happened to I've never heard that name? Why did
Rupp run him off in ail money?

Speaker 5 (36:26):
Thirty four points?

Speaker 6 (36:29):
Six eleven?

Speaker 5 (36:30):
Yeah, beating Tennessee? Shannon?

Speaker 4 (36:32):
Where'd this guy? Where did he go? We had some
lean years there in the early seventies, didn't.

Speaker 3 (36:37):
We must have been a troublemaker off the courts what
I'm hearing, couldn't get on the court because of so.

Speaker 5 (36:41):
It wasn't that.

Speaker 4 (36:41):
Didn't we struggle a little bit late sixties, early seventies concerned.

Speaker 6 (36:45):
That's the Isle era.

Speaker 4 (36:46):
But don't you think Ghistle could have been helped with
six eleven Steve Schmidt?

Speaker 7 (36:49):
I'd say, how about Greg Starik, who transferred to Southern
Illinois because Rupp didn't give him any playing time and
he had the NCAA record for decades for free throw shooting.

Speaker 5 (37:00):
He shot ninety one peru.

Speaker 7 (37:03):
He had the record, not just for a little bit,
for a long time.

Speaker 4 (37:07):
He ran off Steve Schmidt and Greg Merrick. Not even
to mention Bob McCowan.

Speaker 3 (37:14):
Kentucky Sports Radio. Back then, I'll look at those calls
to fire up.

Speaker 7 (37:18):
Let me tell you it's Greg Sterrek. Well it gets better.
Greg Strek committed to Kentucky over the Cincinnati Reds, who
offered him more money. But he still picked the Cats,
and ainate Off still wouldn't play him, so he went
out and got it n CAA radiod.

Speaker 4 (37:32):
Sometimes there's time to make a change. That's why they
wanted to send rup off.

Speaker 7 (37:37):
The Duke Stephen Peak has a chaos board thread. He
found an old book about Rupp and in it it
it's pretty eerie how it reads like cow. It names
and assistant he had who was suggesting new philosophies and
rough was stuck in his old ways. If he read
it and changed the names, it could be a book
about just a couple of years ago at Kentucky.

Speaker 4 (37:56):
Well, I mean, this would have been about this time
of the cal era. He's got Steve Schmid out here
dropping thirty four on Tennessee.

Speaker 6 (38:02):
Six eleven dominant big.

Speaker 7 (38:03):
He's got Greg Sterrick unstoppable. So Greg is Johnny choosing?
He went off and just started lighting them up. So
who's our six eleven? Then went and played well elsewhere?
Sasha ed Jones.

Speaker 5 (38:14):
Yeah he didn't play right, but Sasha collecting, No, Schmidt.

Speaker 6 (38:18):
Is z after the Georgia. Yeah, Schmid is it.

Speaker 5 (38:22):
Schmid is z. Uh huh exactly. Wow.

Speaker 4 (38:25):
Tennessee had Jimmy England and Valley Louisville Valley High product,
Bobby Ball. Somebody out there listening knows who Bobby Ball was.
Never thought they'd get a shout out on kso shout
out they just did. Joe and Philly go ahead.

Speaker 7 (38:38):
Joe Stark average twenty four points, by the way, for
who Southern Illinois rop, what are you doing?

Speaker 5 (38:46):
Let's go ahead, Joe.

Speaker 12 (38:48):
The uh underrated lineup pregame layup line guy shading sharp.
You didn't mention him?

Speaker 4 (38:58):
Yeah, the whole aiden Sharp cal saying come watching dunk
and warm them ups.

Speaker 5 (39:03):
That's one.

Speaker 4 (39:04):
Even at that stage, I was still kind of trying
to like be a cal supporter, but that he that
was one. I think he lost a lot of fans
with that whole sharp thing, don't you think?

Speaker 6 (39:15):
Yes, he did?

Speaker 4 (39:15):
I really do, and especially he is well you can
come get to watch him dunk and warm ups. That
was one I think really irritated fans a lot.

Speaker 7 (39:22):
That's the first time where I actually thought he's toying
with the fan base, like kind of mocking them a
little bit for even wanting to see this kid when
we should be seeing this kid.

Speaker 5 (39:30):
Yeah, and we don't get to see him play because
he plays in Portland. But he's good.

Speaker 6 (39:33):
He's really good. He's really good in the NBA.

Speaker 12 (39:34):
But go ahead, Joe uh Drew, You and Abbey kind
of Swiss fans, right, you guys are gone last week?

Speaker 9 (39:42):
It's right.

Speaker 12 (39:43):
I think you're Swiss fans. If you are, what's uh,
what's the review on the album? And from your perspective,
I have.

Speaker 7 (39:49):
Not listened to the album, so I'm that big of
a fan. She has a lot in the house, so
I'll hear a little bit, but I have not locked
into whatever life of a show Girl not Locked In
Yet as I saw, it's.

Speaker 4 (40:01):
The first album Appreciate the Call Joe in history to
have every single song on the album debut in the
top one hundred, no song, No album has ever done that.
Morgan Wallin had an album where there were like fifteen
songs and thirteen of them debuted, but Taylor Swip was
the first one to have every single.

Speaker 5 (40:20):
Song on the album debut. Good for her. You don't
find that impressive.

Speaker 6 (40:25):
I will not listen to any of them, not one.

Speaker 8 (40:28):
So you your hatred of her and it goes a
long time. Yeah, it does, And it's so weird because
it's unlike you. She seems like she would like you
would like her.

Speaker 6 (40:40):
I think she's a great person.

Speaker 5 (40:42):
Okay, But that has nothing to do with why you
Why do you get so angry about her music.

Speaker 6 (40:46):
That had to do with her music, which I think
is average at best.

Speaker 5 (40:51):
But there's probably a lot of music you don't listen
to like, But you seem to really have a special
disdain for her.

Speaker 6 (40:58):
I hear her one of her saw on the radio
and imediately turned the channel, immediately turned the channel.

Speaker 5 (41:02):
But do you do that with other artists? No, Well,
that's what we're asking. So why does he Why does
she bother you so much?

Speaker 6 (41:08):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (41:09):
You know, it's fingers down a chalkboard, I guess nails, Yeah,
fingernails down to chalk for Jim.

Speaker 4 (41:17):
Go ahead, Jim, a little.

Speaker 5 (41:24):
Go ahead.

Speaker 10 (41:26):
I'll give you a little information about Steve Schmidt. Okay,
he left u K. He left UK to become a
professional bowler.

Speaker 6 (41:39):
He's six eleven.

Speaker 4 (41:41):
He dropped thirty four against Tennessee and left to become
a bowler.

Speaker 10 (41:45):
Yeah, well he was playing behind the dan Issel. What
would you do?

Speaker 6 (41:51):
I don't think I would go into bowling.

Speaker 5 (41:54):
So was he good?

Speaker 10 (41:55):
I don't think. I don't know, never heard of him again.
He's like being a vice president and oh you just
never hear of them again.

Speaker 5 (42:02):
Wow, Christein. I appreciate the call.

Speaker 7 (42:05):
Corey Price sent me the news article and transferred. He
wrote in his letter he wanted to be clear that
it does not reflect on the staff or the coaches.
So I guess we were a little hard on Adolph
because Steve Schmidt wanted to be clear it wasn't the
staff's fault.

Speaker 5 (42:17):
Maybe he just really.

Speaker 6 (42:18):
Wanted to bowl. Respect my decision.

Speaker 5 (42:21):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (42:22):
Shade Sharp said the same thing. There's a lot of
people Johnny gews Aying said that I think there's more
to this. Steve Schmidt, who digg I'm gonna dig on
that Shane who chooses bowling. He drops thirty four against
the balls in a packed Middlesborough High School gymnasium.

Speaker 3 (42:37):
There had to be some of the personal between he
and Rupp.

Speaker 4 (42:40):
And at the same time that Merrick's going to Northern
Illinois to shoot all those throws.

Speaker 5 (42:45):
Something's going on.

Speaker 4 (42:46):
Something was going on in nineteen sixty wait minit nineteen
sixty eight, that was what all the protests were on campus.

Speaker 5 (42:50):
You think they were hippies?

Speaker 6 (42:51):
Maybe? Probably Yeah, maybe.

Speaker 4 (42:53):
Steve Schmidt might have been a hippie. We'll see you tomorrow.
It's been chaos.
