Speaker 5 (01:08):
A pup nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven,
text machine seven seven two four five two five four.
It is Wednsday here at Chaos Bar. Come out, get wings.
We got ourdue burgers.
Speaker 4 (01:18):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (01:19):
By the way I said this, somebody asked yesterday about
food tater kegs.
Speaker 6 (01:24):
Oh so good, so good?
Speaker 4 (01:26):
Did you just get some tater cakes? Huge? Huge, huge positive.
That's what one of the relatively new editions here.
Speaker 5 (01:34):
And you know in general Wednesdays and Sundays of the day,
Uh that I think we have the best deals here.
Oh well, we now have good drink deals on Thursdays.
Speaker 6 (01:43):
Thursday, Friday, Sturday. Sign me with these unbelievable drink specials.
A lot of people aren't taking advantage of yet.
Speaker 5 (01:47):
You need to don't don't well, don't say Saturday, they won't.
That won't be happening during the game.
Speaker 6 (01:51):
Say gotcha, but the other days gotcha?
Speaker 5 (01:53):
You're exactly right. A nine two twenty two eighty seven.
A couple of people remind me that it is the
case that but the whoah that thing it is from
sin of a woman. But I thought his question was
why did I start doing it for first time callers?
Speaker 4 (02:07):
And I don't know the answer.
Speaker 5 (02:08):
But the sound, it's also a marine sound. But I
got it from sin of a woman with al Pacino.
He would always go, who are Yeah, I would.
Speaker 3 (02:17):
Have gone with I got it from the Marines.
Speaker 4 (02:19):
I don't think I can fake people into thinking that.
Speaker 5 (02:21):
I don't think anybody looks at me and says, you
know what, I bet that guy was a marine.
Speaker 4 (02:27):
How would you rank?
Speaker 5 (02:28):
By the way, when you talk about military, Army, Navy,
Air Force, Marines.
Speaker 4 (02:37):
Toughness scale?
Speaker 6 (02:38):
This is easy for me because my brother was West
Point in the Army. Army number one by far, then
a big drop to Air Force, and then wear another
big drop to Navy.
Speaker 4 (02:47):
Then wear the Marines.
Speaker 6 (02:49):
They're even farther down.
Speaker 4 (02:51):
Oh you think the Marines are the least.
Speaker 6 (02:52):
Tough Okay, I'm gonna put them number two. The Army.
Speaker 4 (02:56):
You just shy, just said they were allowed to come by.
I forgot about it.
Speaker 6 (03:01):
Yeah, I forgot about them. Army, big drop to Marines,
big drop to Air Force, and then way way, way
way down there's Navy.
Speaker 4 (03:09):
See you you just think the Navy or whims.
Speaker 6 (03:11):
Yeah, well I'm I'm an Army family.
Speaker 5 (03:13):
I will say the Navy don't do themselves any favor
with their uniforms. It's not it's not the most it's
not the toughest looking one.
Speaker 3 (03:22):
I was gonna put Marines above the Army, even though
I have a lot of Army connections.
Speaker 4 (03:26):
We can't show over here, Mari. We can. We can't
have our own show over here. We got a show
right here, go.
Speaker 3 (03:32):
Ahead, we got a live from motives.
Speaker 4 (03:33):
We can't have our own show right here.
Speaker 3 (03:35):
I was gonna put Marines one. I don't want to
do anything controversial. I thought they were like the most
physical and toughest. Is that not correct?
Speaker 5 (03:42):
Army Army Marines one, Yeah, Army two, Navy, three, Air
Force four plane.
Speaker 4 (03:53):
They're in a plane. They're not.
Speaker 5 (03:54):
They're not they're not hand to hand. They got a hole,
they got missiles.
Speaker 3 (03:59):
It's important though we need I'm gotta be smart.
Speaker 4 (04:01):
None of this is about importance.
Speaker 5 (04:03):
I just said toughness Marines one, Army, two, Navy, three
Air Force Force, Shannon, you agree with that.
Speaker 2 (04:10):
Yeah, air Force is the aid Larrose of the military.
Speaker 6 (04:14):
Zero toughness.
Speaker 4 (04:16):
Air Force is a zero.
Speaker 6 (04:18):
To zero point one.
Speaker 4 (04:20):
I mean they're just flying around.
Speaker 6 (04:21):
They're not doing a whole lot.
Speaker 4 (04:22):
Yeah, eight Lass.
Speaker 6 (04:23):
They have a big tackle the other day after a punt,
so he's trying to get work on that zero toughness.
Speaker 4 (04:28):
I'm ranking that with no knowledge of anyone or what.
Speaker 5 (04:31):
But they also say the Navy, the Navy seals are
the are the hardest thing.
Speaker 3 (04:37):
They're the real badasses.
Speaker 6 (04:38):
You're sweating.
Speaker 3 (04:41):
But also to your point about planes, Navy also have planes,
the Blue Angels. That's Navy. It's a good point. I'm
putting the Space Force last though.
Speaker 5 (04:50):
Do we have a space Force the newest branch of
the military, So that's real.
Speaker 3 (04:53):
I thought that was just like a joke. They're they're
out there to get the aliens. I think they got
tough enough a little bit.
Speaker 4 (04:58):
Let's talk about media Day.
Speaker 5 (05:00):
Mark Pope, h and otega Oway and Jalen Lowe were.
Speaker 4 (05:04):
Our representatives at SEC media Day.
Speaker 5 (05:07):
They went last so that they were like in prime time,
so they were at six o'clock.
Speaker 4 (05:12):
They Mark Pope, Jalen low otaga Away.
Speaker 5 (05:15):
The one message they all said it over and over
this is we're winning number nine. They probably if you
watched it, and they just counted the amount of times
they said the number nine. It was probably forty. I
mean it was just nine, nine, nine nine. Mark Pope said,
I'm glad we're preseason number nine because that's part of
our destiny this year is nine. It's clear they're pounding
(05:38):
that in their heads. I also don't think you say that,
Drew unless you think there's a legitimate chance that you
could be.
Speaker 4 (05:44):
There at the end of the year.
Speaker 3 (05:45):
Well, do you agree? The tone has just changed so
much from the last coach. It used to be we
would do these media day interviews and I guess there's
nothing wrong with this, but it would be I want
to be the first pick. I want to be Anthony Davis,
I want that Max deal. There were times where the
would turn around, point the wall at Devin Book or whoever,
and be like, I want to get paid like that.
Now you go around the room, the answer every time
(06:05):
is we want number nine. We want the national championship.
Speaker 4 (06:08):
And they prefer that. Right.
Speaker 3 (06:09):
Yeah, it's and again, of course the other guys that
they should have that dream. I'm not making it a negative.
I'm just saying it's changed. Everyone says number nine when
you're talking about what they want to achieve.
Speaker 6 (06:19):
It's obvious. They're trying to adjit ingrain in their mind
kind of you know, manifestation, make it talking into existence,
make it happen. So I love it. I love They're
not shine away from it at all.
Speaker 5 (06:28):
I also think it was interesting. It's always interesting me.
Who do they take to these things? Not a surprise
they take O take away. I think people would guess that,
but anybody who does it. By my Jaalen low Stock,
there's a reason why he's the second person there.
Speaker 4 (06:41):
Drew.
Speaker 3 (06:42):
Yeah, that was a big vote of confidence in him,
not just that he'll be one of the star players,
but as a leader too. They could have gone a
lot of directions in that second spot. I think that's
a big endorsement of him, more of even how he
plays basketball at the fact that you just trust him
to speak on behalf of everyone.
Speaker 6 (06:57):
Yeah, I love Otega said he's he's back, he's he's
been ready to practice.
Speaker 4 (07:01):
And guy, he's now practicing on a daily basis. That
was some.
Speaker 6 (07:04):
News came out of that yesterday. I think that saying
he's back.
Speaker 5 (07:08):
Mark Pope also said he scheduled Perdue because he wants
us to jump right in in the basketball season.
Speaker 4 (07:14):
He was like, I want to know immediately where we are.
Speaker 5 (07:17):
If you listen to him talk about Purdue, he sounded
like a guy who's trying to win the game.
Speaker 4 (07:21):
Though he wasn't like this is just a practice.
Speaker 5 (07:23):
He was like, I want to see where we are
now so that we can see where we're going.
Speaker 3 (07:28):
And a lot of coaches will say bring it on anywhere, anytime,
and they don't always follow it up when they make
the schedule. Pope really seems to want to play Markey
opponents as often as he can. He said he wants
to add more games to schedules just so he can
add more Markey opponents, not more cupcakes. I really believe
him when he wants all these challenges, says he wants.
Speaker 6 (07:47):
A part of me is sad those games that gets
Trancy and Georgetown or Wesleyan are gone. But you can't
help but get excited. You got the number one team
in the country coming in here. I'm gonna find exactly
where you are right in the season. Start.
Speaker 5 (07:57):
Do you think, like, like, what do we think that
atmosphere is gonna be like for that game?
Speaker 4 (08:01):
Like you think it's gonna be uh.
Speaker 5 (08:03):
You think it's on fire, You think it's gonna be
as rowdy as like a normal regular season game.
Speaker 3 (08:07):
You do, our fans will treat that like it is
the Final Four, whatever happens. If we lose, there'll be complaining, overreacting.
If we win, there will be overreacting. We're gonna treat
that like it's the biggest game that's ever been played.
Speaker 6 (08:20):
Are they making you do a post game show after.
Speaker 4 (08:21):
They're in a pre and postgame show for that game?
Speaker 6 (08:24):
Yeah, that tells you right there, how big? And they'll
you'll have full bank of callers after an exhibition game
against Purdue. I guarantee it.
Speaker 4 (08:30):
Let's say we lose, though, Are we going to overreact? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (08:33):
Of course people won't panic and sky's falling, but there
will be a big frustration over losing a game that
will have no impact on your resume.
Speaker 4 (08:41):
Right, let's say we win by eight or ten.
Speaker 5 (08:44):
Are the expectations for this team then completely out of
out of control?
Speaker 6 (08:49):
Yes?
Speaker 3 (08:50):
And we are by far the most obnoxious fan base
in sports. If that happens, we won't shut up. We'll
be at airports pumping our chest with our logos on
like we do anytime our team is good. We will
You will not be able to shut us up if
we give it to them pre handily in their first game.
Speaker 6 (09:05):
Yeah, because everybody across the country says Purdue is the
number one team, like there's no discussion, it's perdue. And
then Houston, so they're able to knock off the number
one team run off the bat. Absolutely, we're gonna.
Speaker 5 (09:15):
I think it's a It's a great situation for Kentucky
because in some ways it's no lose because if you lose,
it's the number one team in the country. But if
you win, then you go, oh, wait a minute, this
is not just hype.
Speaker 6 (09:29):
This is real, right, Yes, and we will. We will
take it to the f degree. We're just so excited
about it. So what do we overreact or not? Just
who we are? This makes Kentucky basketball specially.
Speaker 3 (09:38):
And you have Louisville three weeks away on top of it.
Speaker 6 (09:41):
That's true.
Speaker 4 (09:42):
I hate that Louisville so early. I really don't like that.
Speaker 5 (09:45):
I wish I that's one of those it was not
broke quie, did they fix it? I mean that that
that Louisville game kind of between Christmas and New Year
is the last game before you went into commence play.
Speaker 4 (09:57):
I don't like playing them November eleventh. I really don't.
Speaker 5 (10:01):
And maybe that's just what it'll have to be for
the rest of the time, but I don't like it.
Speaker 6 (10:04):
I'm gonna ask you when it comes back to rupt,
do you think they will do.
Speaker 4 (10:07):
It they move it back.
Speaker 5 (10:08):
But I think it's I think it's in part because
teams are wanting to take that time between Christmas and
New Year off. Now they're just and most teams already did.
We were one of the few teams that played those games.
I just I kind of wonder if that's just what
I don't like it.
Speaker 4 (10:23):
I don't. I don't like playing November eleventh. I just don't.
Speaker 3 (10:25):
I don't like it either. But if you beat Purdue
and you have that excitement, then you beat Louisville. My goodness,
it's not even middle of November and the fans will be.
Speaker 5 (10:32):
On the Champions Class weeks. Now, gonna be like the
fifth game of the year. Whereas it used to be
the first or second game. Now it's like the fifth
game of the year.
Speaker 6 (10:43):
For some reason, in my mind, I'm okay with that
game being early. I guess maybe because we used to it.
I do not like the louisvill game being this early
at all?
Speaker 5 (10:50):
Yeah, one person, rights, Matt, you're dismissing toughness of the
air Force. Did you know we have an Air Force
pilot and a mom running for Senate. I don't know
how you could say that.
Speaker 6 (11:00):
I wonder who that would be.
Speaker 4 (11:02):
Why is she running? Like you don't have to? Can
we can get somebody else?
Speaker 6 (11:07):
Maybe she's bored.
Speaker 3 (11:08):
She didn't cover the spread and that what last election?
Speaker 6 (11:11):
Did she?
Speaker 4 (11:13):
I would tell you I would not put her as
part of the KSR.
Speaker 3 (11:16):
Parlay wanted a blowout like I don't remember, but wasn't
it like not?
Speaker 5 (11:20):
I mean, Amy McGrath plus nine is not a beat
that you should and that is not a bet you
should invest.
Speaker 3 (11:26):
In, not even teasing that one.
Speaker 4 (11:29):
Not a seven point ease. All right, who's next? Andrew?
Go ahead? Andrew?
Speaker 7 (11:37):
Hey, Matt, I was curious, what percentage of fan base
do you think wants Stoops to be let go because
they really want some roll? And how likely do you
think some roll would come here versus other job openings.
Speaker 5 (11:48):
Yeah, so I don't think this is just my take,
and I appreciate the call. I think last year a
lot of the people that wanted Stoop's gone, were people
who also wanted some wrong, right, It's almost like I
want Stoops gone because I want some wrong. I don't
think that's what it is this year. I think this
year there's a huge segment of the fan base that
(12:08):
just wants him gone, and it doesn't even matter what's next,
Like if some ro All goes somewhere else, they're still
gonna feel that way either way. They're just like, give
us a new breath, no matter who it is. Would
you agree with that?
Speaker 3 (12:19):
I agree with that Some are All is still the
dream for most people. But I think it's flipped to
where anything a lot of people will be like this
tree I'm looking at, just give me something that's not
Mark Stoops.
Speaker 6 (12:30):
I think, yeah, some ofow's going somebody's gonna grab him.
I mean that's obvious. Big School's gonna grab him. He
may not be available even if Kentucky job becomes open.
So Kentucky, who do they go after that young go
get her? Is that gonna be the answer or.
Speaker 5 (12:41):
But I think for a lot of fans they don't
the first last year, I think the first question should
you keep Stoops's tied with the second question of who
they wanted.
Speaker 4 (12:51):
Uh huh.
Speaker 5 (12:52):
Now I think fans are we don't we want to change,
and I don't even like we'll worry about who it
is after that. Let's just change and then we'll worry
about it.
Speaker 3 (13:03):
Last year, somem Raw's personality was working against Stoops with
a lot of the fan base. This year, Stoops's record
is just beating himself up. He doesn't need a popular
candidate to upset fans or want to change.
Speaker 5 (13:13):
It's gonna though, what if I mean, what if we
played Texas and beat them or lose out a last
second field goal?
Speaker 4 (13:20):
Like I just I think what's crazy is I don't
think it's gonna change anything.
Speaker 5 (13:25):
I think we have a chance to beat a Manning
on our home field, a team that was a preseason
National Championship favorite, and for a lot of our fans,
it would not even change how they fail.
Speaker 3 (13:35):
It would Well, if they win seventeen to fourteen, people
still be met.
Speaker 4 (13:41):
Or what if we won.
Speaker 3 (13:43):
Now, if your offense suddenly shows some groove, you win
thirty something to twenty eight, that's exciting. But for me
and a lot of people with the biggest issue, it
has been over two years since the offense has scored
three touchdowns in a game we have that.
Speaker 4 (13:56):
Is that they started. That is just study acceptable.
Speaker 5 (13:59):
This is statistic that isn't in an SEC game or
just any in a power for a game.
Speaker 4 (14:06):
That is an unbelievable statistic. Who's next, Kentucky reds Kentucky Red,
go ahead?
Speaker 8 (14:15):
Hey, yeah, how are you guys?
Speaker 4 (14:18):
Good? What's up?
Speaker 8 (14:20):
Hey?
Speaker 7 (14:21):
I'd like to know.
Speaker 8 (14:22):
Oh, by the way, I think the green berets the
cut and then may be sealed. But my question is,
can somebody play please?
Speaker 9 (14:36):
Hey?
Speaker 8 (14:36):
I think you that is cet work plus. I fall Hulu.
Speaker 4 (14:43):
Yeah, he is all right, so Hulu's now. God.
Speaker 5 (14:50):
So the easiest way to get SEC plus? First of all,
do you have cable or do you have direct TV?
Speaker 8 (14:59):
I have dish?
Speaker 4 (15:01):
You have dish? Do you get the SEC network on
your dish?
Speaker 8 (15:07):
Uh?
Speaker 4 (15:08):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (15:09):
Okay, so you have now access to SEC plus. You
don't need to buy anything else. You just need to
download the ESPN app and get your log in credentials
from your from.
Speaker 4 (15:22):
Your dish and you will be able to get it.
Speaker 5 (15:25):
Now how you do it, I don't know how your
dish works, but you have it now.
Speaker 4 (15:29):
You don't have to buy anything else.
Speaker 7 (15:34):
Okay, so.
Speaker 4 (15:37):
I'm sick and I understand. I understand, but you I understand.
Speaker 5 (15:44):
But you if you'll figure out how to log into
your dish account, then you'll be able to get on
the ESPN app, you'll be able to get in.
Speaker 8 (15:53):
Okay, okay, all right, good lud. I appreciate help. And
one more of think it's never good. Yeah, I don't
playing SGA.
Speaker 5 (16:10):
They understand, Well, thank you very much.
Speaker 4 (16:14):
I appreciate the call and good.
Speaker 8 (16:16):
Luck, and let me say we're gonna have it.
Speaker 4 (16:18):
Appreciate the call. There's gonna be more people like him.
Speaker 5 (16:21):
There are six games this year on SEC plus, yep,
and a lot of our fans not just do not
know how to get it or don't have it. And uh,
I think you're gonna really see that the Purdue games
on the SEC network. But when we get to Georgetown
the next week, that's a big game that's only on
SCC plus, and I think there's gonna be a lot
of people going, how do I get that?
Speaker 3 (16:40):
Georgetown? The BBN tip Off Classic presented by Kentucky touris
Georgetown's first and.
Speaker 6 (16:46):
I think we're gonna get a lot more phone calls
just like that people try to find the SEC plus
because guys old guys like maybe can't find it.
Speaker 5 (16:53):
But if you have the SEC network, this is the
key thing to remember. If you have the SEC network
on anything you watch, you do have access to SEC plus.
Speaker 4 (17:01):
You just have to figure out how to get into it.
Speaker 3 (17:03):
Well, I think that guy had it twice because he
has the Disney bundle and it's on there too.
Speaker 4 (17:06):
Yeah, we'll take a break. Be right back.
Speaker 5 (17:08):
It's KSR Water back in is Kentucky Sports Radio EIGHTF.
I'm nine two eight twenty two eighty seven. All right,
so let's uh correct some things. Amy McGrath marine pilot.
Speaker 4 (17:17):
Not air force.
Speaker 5 (17:17):
Ah, okay, I should have known that. I saw some
commercials when she ran. I shouldn't that that should have.
Speaker 6 (17:23):
She was a fighter pilot though, right.
Speaker 5 (17:25):
Yeah, but for the Marines, Uh, lots of people writing
me saying Navy seals are not the toughest. It's something
called Delta Force, which branch is that. I've heard of them,
but I can't tell you where they for.
Speaker 4 (17:37):
Me their army.
Speaker 5 (17:38):
Okay, so maybe we could get Delta Force versus Navy
seals going at each other. I think that would be
that that I'd watch that when you who's the toughest.
Speaker 3 (17:47):
I've been watching the U the Randall Cobb show where
he's doing all this. He could fit for one of these.
Speaker 5 (17:51):
Yeah, I'll pick the Delta Force over Randall Cobb and
on your own there you take Randall Cock. Oh Greenaws
looks like he could do it. Do it if we need?
What need some coastguard? Is that in a branch or?
Is that its own thing? Someone says, branch, it's its
own branch. It seems confident, but it's its own branch.
Are they tougher than the Air Force or not? He
(18:14):
doesn't want to answer. Okay, that's all right. I understand
you don't want to differentiate. But everybody's serving. There's no
reason to rank them.
Speaker 6 (18:21):
It's safe to say they're all tougher than we are.
Speaker 4 (18:26):
I don't think anybody was arguing arguing that.
Speaker 5 (18:29):
One person writes, uh, Matt, you are you have brainwashed
the fans against Mark Stoops.
Speaker 4 (18:36):
It's always me.
Speaker 5 (18:37):
It's never the person that's on the field or the
person that's coaching. It's always me. Uh. You used to
want him to have a statue. Now you encourage people
to get rid of him for ratings. You're gonna do
the same thing to Mark Pope, just wait and see. Well,
first of all, I don't know that I encourage the statue.
I do think there was a time where I said
(19:00):
that he had earned a statue if we ever did it.
I don't even think that's necessarily incorrect. I mean, he's
probably the best coach we've had. That doesn't mean you
can have a statue, and it's still not be he
should coach forever, right, I mean John cal Perry might
deserve a statue somewhere. He shouldn't have been to coach anymore.
And as far as that you turn on him, I don't.
(19:20):
I'm not turning on anyone personally. Sometimes people's times have.
Speaker 4 (19:24):
Passed, Right.
Speaker 5 (19:26):
You can be great at something, and that doesn't mean
that you should keep doing it forever. So you know,
there might be a time that we go Mark Pope,
it was awesome, Now it's time for something else. That's
just the nature of coaching. You don't get to there's
no there's no requirement that you should get to coach
(19:48):
until the day you die, like you should coach until
you're effective, until you're not effective.
Speaker 4 (19:55):
And at least recently.
Speaker 5 (19:57):
Mark Stoops has not been effective, and ultimately that's what
you're talking about. The day you start I heard a
baseball GM say, the day you start rewarding pit players
for what they did in the past, you guarantee your
bad future. The day you start rewarding coaches for what
they did in the past and not what they're going
(20:17):
to do in the future is drew.
Speaker 4 (20:18):
The day you start losing.
Speaker 3 (20:20):
Yeah, I still think maybe not a statue, but I
still think they should do something for Stoops at the stadium.
He should be recognized over there. Maybe not right now,
but eventually that should still be there. And I still
think if you can't find a way to win a
few more games than it should probably over you can
both of those things.
Speaker 5 (20:34):
Both of those things can be true. Yes, I think
both those things are true. Said, I know we said
this about cal two years ago. Cala Perry should be
celebrated for what he did here. It was also time
for it to end. Those two things are not inconsistent, right.
Speaker 6 (20:50):
And it makes me a little sad. I mean, I
love Mark Stoops as my coach. I wanted him to
be my coach, but it's just not working right now,
and it makes me sad because we did. He's the
longest tenured coach in the SEC right now. Nobody's coach
longer than him in the SEC. I just tells you
what the shelf life of a coach, how long it
really is.
Speaker 3 (21:07):
That's part of the problem.
Speaker 4 (21:08):
Though.
Speaker 3 (21:08):
He's the longest tenured and there's sixteenth out of sixteen
like that in itself is not a good look.
Speaker 4 (21:13):
Totally agree with you.
Speaker 1 (21:14):
Who's next, shit, Let's go to Dennis.
Speaker 4 (21:16):
Dennis, go ahead, Dennis.
Speaker 10 (21:19):
Hey, you know, I think Barnhart is going to really
regret that statement that he made to John Hall, because
I just saw him facebook here a little while ago,
you know, you know the sight Saturday down South. Yes, well,
the headlines was something I don't know if they said
Mahard or Kentucky a d but basically said that still
(21:42):
proud of the contract that they gave seeps in twenty
twenty two.
Speaker 4 (21:49):
Bad, bad statement by him. You're right, go ahead.
Speaker 10 (21:53):
And as far as why would we why would we
want and I'm not saying he'd be a bad higher,
but why would Kentucky can any fans are warning offense?
Why would they want a coach from another coach from
the defensive side of the football.
Speaker 4 (22:11):
It's a great question. I appreciate the call.
Speaker 5 (22:13):
I do think there's an argument that Kentucky fans would
like an offensive coach. This is a fan base that
wants to score points. I mean, this is not a
fan base. This fan base was probably permanently spoiled by
how Mummy in the sense of like football was fun.
And I think we've had the desire for it to
be fun since and I think people want that.
Speaker 4 (22:33):
I do for.
Speaker 3 (22:34):
Years, we especially going back to our old gambling podcast,
we've made fun of Iowa football for how boring they are, Like,
why would anyone want to watch that? We have become that,
But we're not winning totally.
Speaker 4 (22:44):
You're exactly right. Boring and losing is a tough combination.
Speaker 6 (22:49):
Who was it killer or not? Long ago said we
were losing, but we were losing forty five to forty four,
and fans were still excited about the program because it
was fun to go watch a game.
Speaker 5 (22:56):
Yeah, remember Mummy and Patino and Tubby Early Tubby at
the same time spoiled this fan base for how much
we enjoy points? Huh, And we don't really have We
don't have points. Commonwealth Causes is creating better Kentucky by
shining a spotlight on local charities each week. You could
join the fun Queen of Hearts Raffle every Thursday.
Speaker 4 (23:15):
You love it.
Speaker 6 (23:15):

He'll make them pay now.
Speaker 8 (23:32):
More of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Speaker 4 (23:35):
Here's Matt Joe, Welcome back Tucky Sports Radio.
Speaker 5 (23:38):
Here, Wings day Dollar Wings all day and evening.
Speaker 4 (23:42):
We have the smoke ones.
Speaker 5 (23:43):
Also have like fried one fried ones as well, so
you know we got both kinds. One person writes, Matt,
how does your bar influence your criticism of an entertainment
district and can you separate the effect it'll have on
your business from the fans.
Speaker 4 (23:57):
Well, first of all, the thing wentn't open for two
and a half three, So.
Speaker 5 (24:02):
I'm just giving you my opinion that I think if
you put if you put a bunch of restaurants next
to Commonwealth Stadium.
Speaker 4 (24:08):
It's not gonna work. Now.
Speaker 5 (24:10):
A hotel is a great idea. A hotel is a
great but but I mean the whole idea of putting
a bunch of stuff over there.
Speaker 4 (24:18):
It's open eight days a year, right, That's what I.
Speaker 3 (24:22):
Was picturing it on a Monday night, And yeah, nobody
lives off it. That's gonna be complete. Campus is dead.
Speaker 4 (24:28):
Campus, yeah, and in the summer. And then here's the
other thing.
Speaker 6 (24:32):
The traffic there is so terrible.
Speaker 5 (24:35):
Right, So like now, if they do it, I'm gonna
cheer them on and hope it works. It'll have very
little effect on us, but it won't. It doesn't change
my idea of you know, by the way, this isn't
the greatest time to build restaurants either.
Speaker 4 (24:53):
I mean, this is a very this is a very
hard time.
Speaker 5 (24:55):
So I mean, if you're asking me, the university has
access to one hundred and twenty five million dollars, how
should you spend it? That's not where I would put
it right now in this age of in il and
and all the.
Speaker 3 (25:07):
Tennessee is doing it. But there stadiums are next to
each other, it's between them, so you get more use
of it for basketball. Other it's in the city.
Speaker 5 (25:14):
And it's already a place where people are, you know,
like like people think about Wherekroger Field is. Nobody is
there unless they're playing, right and it's a two lane
road out there. You know, it's not I just that
to me, that's what I would be skeptical of.
Speaker 6 (25:29):
That's my big negative thing to say is it's the
location is you know, it's on the south end of campus.
The only reason people go there is to a baseball game,
a football game, or a soccer game, or don't over
there students there.
Speaker 4 (25:41):
That's where class.
Speaker 5 (25:42):
Buildings are, so the students are on the other side
of campus for the most part.
Speaker 6 (25:47):
So it's just you know, you know, entertainment districts like
the one the Reds Cincinnati have, you know, stuff like that.
It worked even during non game day.
Speaker 5 (25:54):
But that's in downtown. That's like right in the middle
of downtown. It's not in this set of part.
Speaker 3 (26:00):
And how many home baseball games you get compared to
a college football.
Speaker 4 (26:03):
Game, that's exactly right, eighty one versus eight.
Speaker 3 (26:06):
Even basketball, if you're building it by basketball arena, you're
getting more opportunities just with football and nothing else to
bring you out there. I don't know what it would
do the rest of the year.
Speaker 5 (26:14):
One person Rights Matt coach Michael McClain challenged the KSR
media to a UK basketball coaches versus KSR game.
Speaker 4 (26:23):
Are you in?
Speaker 5 (26:25):
I saw that? Didn't see that coming. Yeah, I'm in.
I mean we'll lose, but like, let's bring it on.
Speaker 7 (26:32):
I mean, we'll do better than the Boston media did.
Speaker 5 (26:34):
Again, Boston Media lost by fifty three four.
Speaker 4 (26:38):
The entire game we could get lost fifty seven to four.
Speaker 3 (26:43):
I was actually impressed they scored four. You don't think
we'd score four. We'd score four. But we're better than.
Speaker 5 (26:49):
That, right, So let's pick our lineup. This is KSR
the website ANDKSR Radio show. The best basketball player associated
with KSR.
Speaker 3 (26:58):
Steven p He's our bucket. You're taking all the shots
Steven get open.
Speaker 4 (27:01):
You might not see it when you look at him,
but Stephen Pete can play.
Speaker 5 (27:04):
He's like a Louisville Rec League Legends Rec League Legend
second best player.
Speaker 6 (27:09):
Jack Jack Cooking was m VP of the Caliperi Fantasy
Camp one year.
Speaker 5 (27:13):
So you probably you're probably going Jack and Steven as
yours your wings.
Speaker 4 (27:16):
Yeah, probably put Mario at the point.
Speaker 6 (27:19):
He's our point guard.
Speaker 4 (27:20):
But Mario don't have too high hopes.
Speaker 6 (27:23):
I've watched he's played the over at you on the
blue courts at the UK for years.
Speaker 5 (27:29):
Yeah, but he never gets the second game. That's one
of the problems with having Mario.
Speaker 3 (27:32):
You're skipping over something he plays that's already.
Speaker 4 (27:37):
So we're starting Mario. All right, So we're starting Mario.
Speaker 6 (27:41):
Big guy's gotta be you or Nick Rouse. We gotta
have some hight in there be.
Speaker 5 (27:44):
The big But I'm gonna need to be subbed out, rotate.
I'm yeah, Rowse and I are gonna have the platoon
because I'm not. I can't go a full full section, Drew.
I think is there anybody else on the the website
side better than you?
Speaker 4 (28:01):
Uh?
Speaker 3 (28:02):
I'm all about the youth, Zach. Yeah, we got we
gotta remember these coaches are all over fifty. We're gonna
need to run, so anyone young takes priority. I don't
care if they even know how to hold a basketball.
We're gonna we're gonna control the tempo because the first
team to cramp loses.
Speaker 4 (28:15):
Do we put Ryan on the court.
Speaker 6 (28:17):
I'm gonna be on the team, but I am not playing.
Speaker 5 (28:20):
Do we put Billy on the court, Shannon, No, absolutely
not No, get them the water bucket.
Speaker 3 (28:26):
I have some good game tap college interne. I have
some game tape out there, but it's on a VHS.
It's not not doing well for recently turning forty.
Speaker 5 (28:35):
What if I gave Ramel Bradley a quick internship that
I think it's a temporary.
Speaker 4 (28:41):
Internship for this WU.
Speaker 3 (28:44):
We can multiple Christmas parties.
Speaker 4 (28:47):
Yes, you know WU does.
Speaker 3 (28:49):
Care right there?
Speaker 4 (28:52):
Parent?
Speaker 6 (28:53):
Yeah yeah.
Speaker 4 (28:54):
Now if we get WU and parent.
Speaker 6 (28:56):
Now we win it.
Speaker 4 (28:57):
Now it's a game. Yeah. No, if you're given me
we WU and pairing.
Speaker 6 (29:04):
Which is not too much of a stretch. They're part
of our family.
Speaker 3 (29:07):
Respectfully to the coaches, I know they are much better
or were much better at one time. Age is really
in our factor here.
Speaker 5 (29:13):
Yeah yeah, but I mean these guys were all We
have like two NBA players.
Speaker 3 (29:20):
Listen, if you don't think Mario can outrun Mark Fox
and Alvin Brooks the third on a fast and respectfully
to those guys, I'm just saying we have a huge
youth advantage here. Use the legs.
Speaker 4 (29:30):
I'm guarding Mark Fox. Use the legs, Shannon put me
on Mark Fox. I got him him, I got lock
Mark Fox up.
Speaker 1 (29:39):
You can get a rebound over Fox.
Speaker 5 (29:41):
But Jason Hart, I mean, that's a dude who want
to like Harden McClain.
Speaker 3 (29:44):
Are our problems?
Speaker 4 (29:45):
Yeah? All right, Well I'm after I'll be.
Speaker 3 (29:48):
The stretch for if I'm gonna have to stretch for
about two hours for his game start.
Speaker 5 (29:53):
I'm going I'm gonna be doing hockey shifts in and out,
in and out.
Speaker 4 (29:58):
Who's next.
Speaker 3 (29:59):
Let's get a Matt, Matt.
Speaker 4 (30:00):
Go ahead, Matt.
Speaker 9 (30:02):
Hey, guys, Hey, I'm out barrowfooted in my garden, just
finished meditating on this beautiful, beautiful day and high.
Speaker 8 (30:11):
Matt.
Speaker 5 (30:12):
But I have a hard time believing you're meditating because
you're listening to the show. Do you consider my voice meditation?
Speaker 9 (30:19):
Well, I'm I'm doing my breathing exercises while I listened
to the show. Well, thank you, yeah, yeah, yeah, doing
a little grounding. And Matt, don't worry about none of
those people. You can't be blamed for none of the
coaching things like it's just ridiculous. But I got two things.
One do you since it's almost the World Series. Can
(30:40):
you name the teams that haven't won a World Series?
Speaker 5 (30:44):
Teams that have not won a World Series? Boll, This
feels like this would be a good Triviut question for
me tonight at the bar Shandon.
Speaker 6 (30:51):
Do you know, well two of them are in the
playoffs right to them right now, the Brewers and the Mariners.
Speaker 5 (30:55):
The Brewers and the Mariners. How many are there? Matty? Brewers, Mariners,
Rodra Rockies, Rockies. All right, so we've got four. Uh,
don't tell us the fifth yet, Matt. If those are four, did.
Speaker 4 (31:12):
Tampa Bay ever? Wont it?
Speaker 9 (31:15):
No?
Speaker 11 (31:15):
You got it?
Speaker 4 (31:17):
There you go? Those are the five?
Speaker 3 (31:19):
How about that? And when we play the hard games?
Speaker 9 (31:21):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (31:23):
Wow, that's pretty good.
Speaker 4 (31:25):
Yeah, go ahead.
Speaker 9 (31:27):
Uh, when you was on your trip, did you try
to meditate any on your safari?
Speaker 5 (31:34):
I did not meditate on the safari. But I I
do sometimes meditate. That was taught to me when I
was struggling sleeping after I got out of the hospital,
And so when I have times that I'm struggling to sleep,
I'll do it. I've been pretty fortunate here luckily lately
with it. But yes, I've done but I did not
do it in uh in inside that I had to
stay up every night to do that podcast with.
Speaker 4 (31:59):
All right, appreciate the go to be.
Speaker 6 (32:01):
In that commercial breaking showed us some video of your
trip to South Advoca. It's you talk about how beautiful
it is, but until you see it, it is spectacular.
Speaker 5 (32:08):
It would be really nice to be able to show people.
But I didn't have a phone, so I have to
use other people's accounts, and uh, you know. I asked
a couple of them. I was like, would you like
me to to uh to to, like, can I use
some of your videos and pictures? And they kind of
didn't like the idea of all of Kentucky following them
on social media, So that's why. But when I do
(32:29):
post pictures, I just steal them from their accounts.
Speaker 4 (32:31):
And don't tell them beautiful. Yeah, no, it was beautiful.
Who's NeXT's go to? Tyler? Tyler? Go ahead, Tyler.
Speaker 12 (32:39):
Hey, guys, I just had a quick question for you.
Do you think the football team would ever have anything
like big Blue madness like at the beginning of the year,
and if so, would anybody?
Speaker 8 (32:52):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (32:52):
I do think people would go Actually, I don't you know,
it wouldn't be the worst thing to have a kickoff
event of some work for football.
Speaker 4 (33:01):
I don't know what it would be.
Speaker 5 (33:02):
I don't even know what you would do exactly, But yeah,
I don't think that Drew.
Speaker 4 (33:07):
Would be a bad idea.
Speaker 5 (33:08):
If I was a coach trying to, you know, do
it mid August, people are hungry for things to do
or something.
Speaker 4 (33:13):
I could see it.
Speaker 3 (33:14):
They could figure out there's enough skill challenges in football
you could get out there and have quarterbacks throwing it around.
If you did the intros like Big Blue Madness, that
might take a little bit longer over there. Maybe do
it about position group, but it would be just another
way to get fans engaged to get the season going,
which I think it's I.
Speaker 4 (33:29):
Don't think it's a bad idea at all. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (33:31):
If I'm nine, two eight, twenty two eighty seven, it's
Draft Kings. You go to Draft Kings. Use my pro
promo code KSR bet five. If you win, you get
up to two hundred dollars in bonus bets. DraftKings KSR
parlays hit twice this year. Here's the thing about the
KSR parlay. It's becoming very clear. Drew and I always
get it right. Ryan always gets it wrong. Shannon's fifty
(33:53):
to fifty.
Speaker 4 (33:54):
Yeah the other. So we're gonna have to hick Ryan out.
Speaker 3 (33:56):
What happened last week. I wasn't here.
Speaker 4 (33:58):
You and I got it right. You got it right.
I was gone.
Speaker 6 (34:01):
I was in Denver, Mario, liamb Liam picked him.
Speaker 4 (34:06):
So Liam got it right. I pushed. I had three
and I think it was three in the Arkansas game.
Speaker 6 (34:11):
Shannon lost, Ride lost, and I said, I need a layup,
so I picked Oregon to win it.
Speaker 1 (34:15):
The lim the only one that won.
Speaker 6 (34:18):
Liams the only one that Yeah.
Speaker 5 (34:19):
Yeah, it was a little weird for me because I
had Arkansas minus two and a half and the line
changed to three, and then I had to just deal
with it today.
Speaker 4 (34:27):
Regardless, it was a push point. Bean, We're kicking you fair.
Speaker 6 (34:31):
I want to win.
Speaker 3 (34:33):
A couple of weeks ago, when you picked a forty
four and a half point spread, I knew you weren't.
Speaker 6 (34:36):
You weren't committed to the to the that spread covered.
Speaker 3 (34:39):
It's just a it's it's it's just a lazy pick.
Speaker 12 (34:42):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (34:42):
Blue Jays Mariners Tonight Game three. Mariners won the first two.
Now they're at home. Are they headed to the World Series?
Speaker 6 (34:50):
I think so. It's gone, Like you said, it's going
to Seattle. So yeah, they've learned the driver's seat.
Speaker 9 (34:53):
Right.
Speaker 5 (34:53):
If I guy pitching the night Castillo, I think he
is in the l Paedria or whatever. If he is,
I'm taking the I'm taking the Who you Got? I
hate the Blue Jays, so I'm rolling with the Mariners. No,
it's George Kirby, but he's also really good, Shannon.
Speaker 4 (35:05):
Who you got?
Speaker 7 (35:06):
Yeah, Blue Jays, I think get one.
Speaker 6 (35:08):
I think tonight's the one they get.
Speaker 4 (35:09):
All right, there you go.
Speaker 5 (35:10):
If I'm nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven,
we will take a break, come back final segment.
Speaker 4 (35:14):
This say is Kentucky Sports Radio. Walk back at his
Kentucky Sports Radio.
Speaker 5 (35:17):
If I'm nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven,
the text machine is seven two seven seven.
Speaker 4 (35:22):
Four five two five four.
Speaker 5 (35:24):
We are here at ks Bar and grill Wings day,
all day, dollar Wings, all day beer specials, et cetera.
And my trivia is tonight. I want to do two
serious things for a second. First of all, prayers out
to John Pelfrey's wife, Tracy.
Speaker 4 (35:38):
Is that correct?
Speaker 6 (35:39):
Not sure?
Speaker 5 (35:40):
I think it is Tracy Pelfrey who is dealing with
with cancer.
Speaker 4 (35:46):
Pelfrey posted about her her treatments.
Speaker 5 (35:50):
It's stage three and he's asked for He's at Tennessee Tech,
but asked for prayers. Obviously a Kentucky legend, and uh.
Speaker 6 (35:58):
Do you know her? I don't know if I've ever
met her, but John off the Court, John Pelfrey's was
a super nice guy. I think he's the love out
of Paintsville. So I don't know if she's a Kentucky
girl also, but obviously thoughts some prayers with her and
her family.
Speaker 3 (36:13):
Yeah, he shared the timeline. They have a head. It's
gonna be a rough one there, do that, but hopefully
she gets through on the other side and gets through
it best you can.
Speaker 5 (36:21):
And then on just a personal level, I want to
give prayers to the family of George Oakes. His son Tyler,
is a friend of mine and he you know, I
always say that the UK fans. He passed away last week.
I just found out yesterday. But you always talking about
UK fans in Louisville. You have to be a hearty
bunch to be in Louisville because you have to deal
(36:42):
with Louisville fans all the time, and they're always chirping,
and during those years where that happened a lot, from
twenty ten to about twenty fifteen, anytime I was gonna
do something in Louisville, that was uk. He was there,
holding L's down and being a big time, big blue
faithful in Jefferson County.
Speaker 4 (37:01):
He passed away.
Speaker 5 (37:03):
Great Kentucky fan, great dude, and my prayers to his
family as well. A regular listener of this show, So
prayers to the Oaks family.
Speaker 6 (37:11):
Yeah, that those people, they fight the good fight every
single day against Louville fans. So it's good to hear
any guys like him.
Speaker 4 (37:17):
And Louisvill's coming back.
Speaker 5 (37:19):
So we're gonna need another generation of Jefferson County front line,
front line.
Speaker 4 (37:24):
Warriors there against the cards. Who's up next?
Speaker 12 (37:26):
Let's go to Justin.
Speaker 4 (37:28):
Justin, go ahead, Justin.
Speaker 7 (37:30):
Hey, how y'all doing doing good?
Speaker 11 (37:34):
Uh?
Speaker 13 (37:34):
Not the preseason ranking matters or the god complaining about
Kentucky being nice. But I've seen a list of everybody
that bots an ap pole in what school they're affiliated with,
and Kentucky don't have anybody that votes that they're affiliated with.
But Duke had like almost ten. What's the process?
Speaker 4 (37:54):
No, that's not right. Duke had ten.
Speaker 5 (37:58):
Close to it?
Speaker 4 (37:59):
Is that right? Really? I didn't know that. I don't
know what the process is.
Speaker 5 (38:04):
You have to be part of the Basketball Writers Association
of America. No one's ever asked me to be in that.
As a matter of fact, I don't even know how
one would do it, So I don't know. I mean,
Jerry Tipton used to be the person that voted in
Kentucky for many many years. He's now retired, so I
don't really know who does it. I guess no one
does it. But it is weird that no one in
(38:26):
the state of Kentucky, where basketball is bigger than any
other state, would be a voter in the AP pole Drew, That.
Speaker 4 (38:32):
Is a little odd.
Speaker 3 (38:33):
Yeah, Jerry doing it for so long that made sense.
That's probably one of the most trusted people on their panel.
Now I'm just scrolling through the names quickly. I don't recognize.
Speaker 4 (38:41):
Really they really have ten for Duke.
Speaker 3 (38:43):
Well, it's not putting the school affiliated with them.
Speaker 5 (38:45):
Okay, Well, I appreciate the call. I'm actually fine with
us being number nine. I think that's probably about where
we should be. We have so many different new players.
I think the top three of Purdue Houston, Florida feels
right to me. And then after that, from four on,
I think you could just kind of flip a coin.
Speaker 4 (39:03):
I'm fine being Nune.
Speaker 6 (39:05):
Yeah, what Drew said yesterday and Kim Palm were number
four behind Florida.
Speaker 5 (39:08):
Yeah, I think number four in the AP pole with
Saint John's. You know, you put Kentucky and Saint John's
on the court tomorrow, it's probably almost a pick them game.
So I think you look at that list from four
to about thirteen or fourteen, I think all.
Speaker 4 (39:20):
Those teams are kind of interchangeable. Drew.
Speaker 3 (39:23):
Yeah, and it's kind of corny, but we're into the
number nine thing. Let's just go and start the year
at number nine. We'll know quickly with these Marquee games
in the first two weeks it'll change. Win them, you'll
move up. So let's just be number nine to kick
it off. Yeah, I mean, Louisville is gonna be our first.
We play Nickels State, then Valparaiso, and then Louisville.
Speaker 4 (39:43):
That's how the season starts. So I don't like that.
Speaker 6 (39:46):
I hate it that the basketball games before the football game.
Speaker 4 (39:49):
I just don't like that waiting around. Yeah, I mean,
that's the second time you brought it up. You're not happy.
Speaker 6 (39:54):
I'm not happy about it.
Speaker 4 (39:56):
He's up next, Dave, Dave, go ahead.
Speaker 11 (39:58):
Dave, Hey, this is Daven happy. I was two things.
The three things that I think are going to stand
the test of tom as far as being memorable about
Big Blue Madness was the Trent No introduction has turned
around from the last three point shot and the Colin
(40:20):
Chandler dunk.
Speaker 5 (40:22):
I mean, let me ask you a question in all seriousness.
I love you, man, but you're telling me the three
most memorable things from Big Blue Madness. Two of them
involved Trent No. One of them is Colin Chance. You're
not gonna put John Wall returning on the list.
Speaker 11 (40:35):
Well, the Colin Chandler thing involved John Wall.
Speaker 4 (40:40):
But I love you, but you gotta put John Wall
on that list if you're gonna. I mean that. That's
my take.
Speaker 11 (40:47):
Well, I can watched it three times. Those were the
three things that seemed to continue to stand down.
Speaker 4 (40:52):
Okay, And what's the second thing.
Speaker 11 (40:55):
The other thing is this ATUC Network Plus, Maloney, if
you were an ESPN Plus subscriber and you had all
those channels and then Disney's so greedy that they separate them, yes,
into another charge.
Speaker 4 (41:10):
That's just okay.
Speaker 5 (41:12):
It's important to remember. I'm glad you said that. I
appreciate the call. If you only have Espn, if you
bought the ESPN package, So if you bought the Disney bundle, you.
Speaker 4 (41:22):
Do not have SEC plus. That hit us here at
the bar Saturday.
Speaker 5 (41:27):
So at the bar Saturday, we were trying to show
big blue madness and then we realized we didn't have
it because we had the Disney Bundle. SEC Plus is
actually different now than ESPN Plus, which means you gotta
make sure you have it. And there's gonna be a
lot of people that caller. There's gonna be a lot
of people who don't realize they don't have it. And
(41:49):
so that's just important to note. If you buy ESPN Plus,
sec plus is now a separate thing.
Speaker 4 (41:57):
But if you have cable, oddly you have it. As
weird as that.
Speaker 6 (42:01):
That's what I said. We're gonna get more and more
calls on this with six games.
Speaker 4 (42:04):
It is weird.
Speaker 5 (42:05):
