Now welcome back. I remember two Tanke you sports radio
here at forty six solutions Lexington Base Technology Company. If
you want to have a nice home entertainment system. You're there.
There's a video up there of Shannon walking with Larry
Vaught back in the day on his fifty mile walk Shandon.
You know that happened right after COVID. It was actually

(01:22):
one of the cooler days we've had with KSR. That's
is that one of the bigger accomplishments of your life.
Fifty miles twenty four hours.

Speaker 5 (01:32):
It was the greatest athletic achievement of the COVID era,
without a doubt.

Speaker 4 (01:35):
And yeah, across the board.

Speaker 6 (01:37):
Oh yeah, I mean maybe another one.

Speaker 5 (01:38):
It was the number one trend across America that day
that we were doing it. Some of this stuff I
don't even remember. It's like watching another person on the
screen right now. I don't even remember a lot of
this stuff.

Speaker 4 (01:47):
But yeah, yeah, that you walked. We created a twenty
five mile path for you, and you did it twice.
Is that right? Is that what you did?

Speaker 6 (01:54):
Fifty miles in fifteen and a half hours.

Speaker 4 (01:56):
This was towards the end because that's us in the back.
They're doing the radio show, Me and Drew. So this
was like kind of down the home strap.

Speaker 5 (02:03):
The other thing that stuck out to me was how
long Drew's beard was during COVID. He had this long
like almost like Forrest Gup when he went on his walk,
and that long beard.

Speaker 4 (02:11):
What was the hardest point of that fifty miles? Where
was it? Was there ever a moment me you thought
you were gonna quit?

Speaker 6 (02:16):
No, because I had to prove you wrong.

Speaker 5 (02:17):
But the last the last ten miles were tougher than
the first forty before them.

Speaker 6 (02:23):
So the first forty I kind of cruised through.

Speaker 4 (02:25):
It started to get hot. Towards the end, yes, it
started to get hot, but.

Speaker 5 (02:29):
You guys being there actually helped and everybody else being there.
If I was just out there by myself, I don't
know if I would have finished it.

Speaker 4 (02:33):
But well, that was all and you had a handful
of people to do it with.

Speaker 5 (02:36):
You, right, Yes, those guys that you see there, I
think if they do all of it. There was like
three or four guys that did, but they were marathon
guys that are ran the Boston Marathon and other marathons
across the country. They actually said it's harder to walk
that far than it is to run, just because of
the duration. You know that you're out there for fifteen
and a half hours.

Speaker 4 (02:53):
And that was also that was also nice the amount
of people on the street that would would talk to you.

Speaker 6 (02:57):
And it was all night. It wasn't just during the day.

Speaker 5 (03:00):
There were people out all hours of the night and
it just you know, giving me water and encouragement.

Speaker 6 (03:04):
Really cool, really cool thing.

Speaker 1 (03:06):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (03:06):
Clayton and Crum was founded on a simple idea, all
leather goods should last a lifetime. They make everything from bags, belts, wallets,
and much more. And the best part, they're doing it
right here in Kentucky. It is claytoncrem dot com, cereuimmy
dot com, or if it's their flagship store in Louisville
two sixteen South Shelby Street, located in New lou Quality
leather goods built to last at Clayton and Crow. All right,

(03:27):
let's talk about a couple of things here. First of all,
Reed Shepherd last night in an exhibition game, had twenty
nine points for the Houston Rockets as the starting point guard.
You know, he's he's gonna get a chance to start
at least probably a few games early, and then we'll
see if he's able to hang on. He's gonna play
no matter what but like, he's got a chance to

(03:47):
be a starter on a contending team. So you had
to like seeing Reed Shepherd play well last night.

Speaker 7 (03:52):
Obviously the Rockets believed in him. They didn't want to
trade him in the Kevin Durant tree. They wanted to
keep him. And now and then after the injury, he's
gonna he's needed. He's their guy. I'm so excited to
see what he can do this year for the Rockets.

Speaker 8 (04:02):
Yeah, it's his job if he wants that. They tried
one of the Thompson twins at point. He's not really
a point. So if Reid can just answer the bell,
that's his spot and they're a title contender. I mean,
you could have Reed Sheppard passing to Kevin Durant and
like an NBA Finals.

Speaker 4 (04:15):
Yeah, that's it's kind of amazing. Somebody should have told me,
by the way, that should have been a little more
fit at the stage of my life trying to.

Speaker 5 (04:22):
Get you to walk with us, you know, the fifty
mile walkts done of the Sometimes I.

Speaker 4 (04:27):
Look at the various weight fluctuations and go, man, somebody
should have said something to me. Now we found out
Ryan how the governor of Illinois made his one point
four million dollars gambling. Well was it? He says, blackjack jack?
He went on a he went out to a casino trip.
He said, I start, we started getting hot, and uh

(04:47):
I felt like we would just keep going. And he said,
then I walked away with one point four million. He
even said he had a chance to like put half
of it on the line to go for two million.
And he just walked away one point four million from
a blackjack trip. And he has from the casino the record.

Speaker 9 (05:05):
That he did.

Speaker 4 (05:06):
That is a pretty amazing win, isn't it It is?

Speaker 8 (05:09):
I mean, it's I can believe blackjack. Let's say it,
even though that's almost impossible to do. That is your
best sze the casino. If he had said sports betting,
I would have said, loms the investigation right now because
that doesn't happen. But I guess I'll pat him on
the back on blackjack. That can happen.

Speaker 4 (05:24):
So here's my question. Leave it politics as out you
find out you have a governor that is betting and
winning one point four million dollars in blackjack, Shannon, make
you feel better or worse about him?

Speaker 5 (05:39):
A lot better? I don't want to go I mean,
it's just luck. Sure, but I mean, why would you
not want him to have a luck? You want to unlucky?

Speaker 4 (05:46):
Is there a party that's going I don't know if
I want someone who puts that much money on the table.

Speaker 5 (05:51):
His own money. Though he can do whatever he wants
with it. It doesn't bother me as long as it's not
like the state's money.

Speaker 4 (05:56):
Yeah, if he does the state's money, don't problem with that.

Speaker 5 (05:58):
It goes to prison if he does this, yeah, yeah,
but blackjack is pretty impressive.

Speaker 6 (06:02):
You're not betting five dollars a hand winning that kind
of money, all right?

Speaker 4 (06:04):
What about you?

Speaker 7 (06:06):
I I don't have a problem with it, but I'm
trying to be honest. If I found out he lost
one point four million gambling a blackjack, I probably have
a problem.

Speaker 4 (06:14):
So that's interesting. So I can see this psychologically, him
winning even though you know this is a coin flip game.
Him winning the coin flip makes you less worried than
if he loses the coin flip.

Speaker 7 (06:28):
And I don't know why, but yes, that's the way
it feels to me. This kind of I have a
bad fit. If he goes out and gambles and loses
one point four million. How much is he losing on
a regular basis we don't know about, so.

Speaker 4 (06:38):
You're worried like it's see it shows the signs of
a problem.

Speaker 6 (06:41):
Yeah, okay, there's a little strategy involved.

Speaker 5 (06:43):
Maybe maybe he's counting cards, you know, maybe just shows
you he's intelligent.

Speaker 4 (06:47):
Okay, all right, Well on a good heater.

Speaker 8 (06:49):
I mean, what probably wasn't betting a million. You're just
winning several in a row to get to a million.

Speaker 4 (06:53):
So on the weather thing, since Ryan just made weather up, uh,
the actual the actual forecast is that it should be
okay during the game, not beautiful, but okay, and then
a massive storm is supposed to start about one am,
so some people may get it on their drive home
from the game. But it's supposed to be up to
forty to forty five mile an hour wins.

Speaker 7 (07:15):
Whether guy just guess anyway, man hup a coin.

Speaker 6 (07:19):
It ain't gonna rain.

Speaker 5 (07:20):
It might rain clouds Raine if it were forty mile
hour wins and we're gonna have a ground game. Offensively,
I mean, I would think that if you're trying to
say who does that benefit, it would benefit Kentucky, I
think a little bit more than Texas.

Speaker 4 (07:31):
Who's gonna I actually think having a mucky game might
be good for Kentucky if you were to get it,
don't you.

Speaker 6 (07:39):
Drew it can't be convinced.

Speaker 4 (07:40):
There's nothing that's going to make you optimistic about it.

Speaker 8 (07:44):
Their defensive line and linebackers are so good, so if
it starts raining, they're just gonna go, well, let's pack
the box and Bowie has to throw deep, and we
want that in the rain.

Speaker 4 (07:52):
Yeah, well, I mean that's.

Speaker 8 (07:53):
A fair They are elite on the defensive line.

Speaker 4 (07:54):
All right, Let's talk about basketball for a second. Blue
White game. Mark Pope says it's not going to be
a full scrimmage, so it's not gonna be like in
the old days where he played forty minutes of Blue
and white. He's gonna work on things. They will have
some scrimmage. There's actually a few tickets still left to
get to see a game of Memorial. I would say
forget about this. It's blue white. I mean, if you've
not been to the new Memorial Coliseum, it's really really nice,

(08:16):
and you can see it and watch the game. You'll
never get this close. Plus they'll do autographs and stuff
they always do for these games. What do you want
to see tonight? Are you gonna watch it? What do
you want to see? It's on SEC Plus.

Speaker 7 (08:29):
You know last year I went when it was a
historic Memorial Coliseum, and that was the first time I thought,
oh my, Colin Chandler is a lot better than I
think we all thought. So I hope there's a moment
with somebody tonight, somebody like hey, when we said that
with o't take it even last year. Yeah, I hope
there's a moment tonight we all look like, hey, this
guy can play man. He's much much better than we thought.

Speaker 4 (08:46):
That was my takeaway last year. My takeaway last year
is Colin Chandler, who had kind of just been like
a throw away, not a throw away, but like not
a person I thought was gonna matter. Last year, I
remember he did it. He had a dunk, a couple
of dunks where you're like, oh my goodness, this kid's
got athletic. It would be interesting to see Drew if
tonight you get some of that Brandon Hawthorne or something
that gives you something like that.

Speaker 8 (09:05):
Yeah, there's a lot of guys I feel like I
already know what they're gonna be. So I'm watching Cam
Williams probably a little more moreno to see if he's
really pushing those guys for minutes. Hawthorne he's fun to watch.
He's just so skinny. I don't think we're gonna see
him this year. But any guy that we're still questioning
how many minutes they'll really get, that's who I'm watching.
Cam Williams is the one I'd say I'm keeping an
eye on the most because he's the one I'm just
the most uncertain about.

Speaker 3 (09:26):
You.

Speaker 4 (09:27):
I also will be interested to see Shannon if they
continue what they did at fan Fast. I was talking
to a lady about fan Fast last weekend. You know,
that event came out of nowhere, like they just kind
of threw it.

Speaker 6 (09:39):
They did a great job, and they.

Speaker 4 (09:40):
Did a great job. They threw it together. They created
this fan experience. I mean, you know, there was apparently
some complaints about the lines for the autograph, but I
mean it's free, so at some point, like you got
to understand you might not all be able to get
an autograph. I'll be interesting to see at this event
if they do. I think they'll do something like that again.
I do, I think they'll. I am really impressed with

(10:02):
how not just Pope, but the whole basketball side is
starting to see the reach out to fans. What matters.
I mean, I will tell you it didn't work out today,
but we talked about having something really cool happen here today.
And I'm not gonna say what it was because we'll
do it in another remote sometime down the road, but
like it almost happened, and I just like that they

(10:22):
consider that.

Speaker 5 (10:23):
Yeah, And I would say to any fan that was
in line that didn't get the chance to get a
picture an autograph, there will be plenty of opportunities in
the future. But as far as what I would like
to see, let me tell you. First of all, what
I don't want to see something that could happen that
we could blame Annabel the doll on. So I don't
want any of that stuff to happen.

Speaker 6 (10:37):
Or Adam Sandler or Adam Sandler.

Speaker 5 (10:39):
What I do want to see is the three point
shooting from this team, because once again Mark Pope has
doubled down on wanting to have thirty three point attempts
per game.

Speaker 6 (10:47):
He got the twenty five last year. I want to
see how good of a three point shooting team this is.

Speaker 4 (10:51):
I was a little worried about that rhyme, but I'm
not so much anymore. I'm worried a little bit about
it from I've talked about the diabate position, but just
the average guy on the team, I think we're gonna
be able to shoot really well.

Speaker 7 (11:04):
Yeah, I don't know if we've got a guy that
maybe a good as what we had with Bray last year.

Speaker 4 (11:08):
You may not have a guy like Braden who like
when he shot it, you knew it was it.

Speaker 7 (11:11):
Yeah, we're gonna have a lot more guys. I think
they can fill it up from the outside.

Speaker 4 (11:14):
Don't know what could be that actually. I mean, he
might be a guy that kind of you know what's
in when he shoots it.

Speaker 8 (11:20):
Yeah, last year we saw many times the offense we
get kind of locked up and Bray it would just pull,
you know, he would just shoot. I think this year,
with Low running the show, he's more of a getting
the lane and kick it out type of guy. And
you'll you'll.

Speaker 4 (11:32):
It's hard with these videos, like I don't know who,
I don't know who put this together, but this is
like this is like a history of our lives video
playing here. This is Shannon singing in Vegas.

Speaker 6 (11:45):
Yeah, playing the piano, playing.

Speaker 4 (11:47):
The piano, singing about me and the hangovers are from
the Hangover. Yeah, that was that was well, that was
the Monk Fox year. That was two thy sixteen.

Speaker 5 (11:57):
Yep, and we had we had the penthouse suite. That
was That was awesome.

Speaker 4 (12:01):
That was an awesome trip.

Speaker 8 (12:03):
What else they have on file?

Speaker 10 (12:04):
Here?

Speaker 11 (12:05):
Got Dennis up?

Speaker 4 (12:06):
Next? Dennis? Go ahead?

Speaker 12 (12:07):
Dennis A uh yeah. Earlier that Texas wasn't that good
and you might be able to score on you.

Speaker 4 (12:18):
I mean, Texas is objectively so far this year has
not been that good. I mean they've been They lost
it to Florida, they got didn't score against Ohio State.
Now are they better than us? Of course they are
better than us. Should they crush us? Yes, they should
crush us. But if you had told me when the
season started we're playing Texas, I would have told you

(12:39):
Texas is gonna be a twenty four point favorite. It's
thirteen and a half. And yes, Kentucky, if Kentucky was
a decent Kentucky team, this would be a game that
they would look at and say, we have a shot.
Now we're not decent, so we don't have a shot.
But No, do I think Texas is great. No, They're
gonna finish probably with four or five losses this year.

Speaker 12 (13:01):
I agree with that, But I mean their defense, if
it's not the best defense is college football, it's one
of the best defenses.

Speaker 4 (13:08):
Okay. Well, I mean I can't argue with that.

Speaker 12 (13:11):
Our offense is watch Okay.

Speaker 4 (13:14):
I'm not arguing with any of that. But but your
your frustration with me was me saying that I don't
think Texas is all that good and so far this
year they have not been all that good.

Speaker 12 (13:26):
And I'll tell you, isn't it odd? Now Indiana is
becoming a football school. They signed what Signette gifts think
them eleven million dollars a year.

Speaker 4 (13:38):
Yeah, well, I want to talk about that. I'm gonna
talk about that next segment because I think that deal
is interesting for a variety of reasons. But also, here's
a video of all and Cutler chasing Billy Gilsbie.

Speaker 9 (13:48):
On the screen as well, one of the best videos ever.

Speaker 4 (13:51):
I appreciate the call. I mean, this really is Alex.
This is a great moment in UK sports history. Here
we go, Billy, I'm running away from Alan Cutler. Look
at Alan And that's Allan would. But when he cut
his hair, he I think he knew he was gonna
have a moment.

Speaker 8 (14:07):
That's a sprint that is so awkward. They're sprinting through
offices together.

Speaker 4 (14:11):
I will remind people it is hard, righting, but look
at this Ryan, you were working, You and I were
doing this at that time. I will remind you this
day is probably the craziest day in UK sports since
I've been doing it. Billy Gillespie get well. First of all,

(14:32):
I get called from Louisville. I'm still a practicing lawyer
at the time. Okay, I get a call from UK
saying you're gonna want to be in the building today.
So I drive. I live in Louisville at the time.
I drive from Louisville, get here. Then you start to
hear Billy Gilespie's gonna be fired. But then they're like,
we can't find him to fire him. I mean, you're laughing.

(14:53):
This happened. They sent Mitch Barnhardt and Eli Cappoluto were
in or was it no talk Doctor Todd. Mitch Barnhart
and Doctor Todd were driving around Lexington trying to find
him to fir him because he got the idea of, well,
if I get in my car and they can't find me,
they can't fire me.

Speaker 7 (15:12):
Bill and Gillespie was literally driving around New Circle roads
just to play hide and seek so nobody could find it.

Speaker 5 (15:18):
I used to do this when I was a kid.
When I did something I knew I was gonna get
in trouble. I knew my parents were coming home. I
would try to hide then so they would forget about it.

Speaker 4 (15:25):
So then finally they get him to agree to come
to the building, and then Alan Cutler's waiting out there,
so he's not been fired when you see this right here, correct,
And he walks in the door, and Alan's chasing him,
going are you getting fired? And he's following him, and
then you remember there were some rumors that Billy Donovan
was coming on a plane to take the job in

(15:46):
the afternoon. You were there. That was wild, all.

Speaker 7 (15:49):
Those rumors about Donovanye's already know all these kids at
Lexton Catholic High School. I've already bought a horse farm
out by Champions Golf Course, and He's gonna be here
this afternoon.

Speaker 9 (15:56):
It was just crazy.

Speaker 7 (15:57):
My favorite line though, about when Cutler is chasing and
Billy let's be down the hallway. Billy says, you're really
gonna run with me? Alan, and Alan says I can
run with you all day.

Speaker 4 (16:08):
In WKYT, it was a big moment for KSR. So
this is remember we're talking two thousand and nine. We
were just a blog. W KYT put our blog live
on the air, put it on the air and said
this is where the most updated information is. And then
while we were live on the air, Shannon, our site crashed.
Because everybody will, of course, but I mean that was

(16:31):
those of you's been a while, remember where our site
used to crash? All the time our site crashed.

Speaker 5 (16:36):
You think about the most ridiculous moments in Kentucky sport
of history that has to be never had one. Number
one the fact that he was running down a hall
being chased by a reporter.

Speaker 4 (16:44):
We'll take a break, be right back here. Forty six Solutions.
This is KASUH, Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio
here live and forty six Solutions, a local team you
can trust, business at AV setups home AV. You got
it right here, forty six sections and we are great

(17:07):
crowd here this Friday, getting ready for a big, big
weekend in Lexington, Keenland, UK, Texas, Blue White Parents Weekend,
scare Fest and a bell Adam Sandler all all right here.

Speaker 7 (17:21):
Got some folks over here, drove in from Minnesota. Had
it planned, you know, over long ago, go to the
Blue White game tonight, football game tomorrow night.

Speaker 9 (17:28):
So they made the long trip for Minnesota.

Speaker 4 (17:29):
To be here. Yeah, I would say this is this
will be probably the most crowded weekend of the year
in Lexington. Next week is big two, but I think
when you throw in Parents Weekend with the two games drew,
this is probably the most crowded this city will be. Yeah.

Speaker 8 (17:45):
Tennessee is always a big one, but when the schedule
came out, Texas was one. They've never been here first time. Well,
I guess I had last year with them in the SEC.
But they're just a little more excitement seeing the Longhorns.

Speaker 4 (17:55):
We got some Donado's pizza here for people. Also ks
bar so the game tomorrow at seven. Our pregame show
will be at three. Love to have you come out
either today, this afternoon, tonight or tomorrow if you come
out tonight the Louisville game. Louisville plays Miami in football tonight,
so we will be a official Miami Hurricanes bar tonight.

(18:17):
If you want to come and say go Canes against
the will throw up the throw up the you tonight
against Louisville.

Speaker 6 (18:25):
Shit, that's right.

Speaker 5 (18:25):
Get out there to Chaos Bar, get some cheese logs,
and hopefully watch Miami destroy Loisville.

Speaker 4 (18:30):
We just realized, by the way, in the month September,
we for the first time sold more burgers than wings.

Speaker 9 (18:36):
Well, the burgers are really really good.

Speaker 4 (18:39):
That's never been true. I'll tell you a quick funny
story about the trivia. So one of my questions on
the trivia is what are the nine items on the bar?
At the bar that have been sold the most okay
food or drink. Number one thing that's been sold the
most is the Great American Burger. Second is like michelob Ultra.
But there was a team name that was called We're

(19:00):
just here for the tat Kegs. Oh that's the name
of their team. Good. When it came time to that question,
you know what, they didn't guess nook. They said we
are here for the tat Kegs and then they didn't
qualify by the for the finals by one point. Just
put the name of their team as the food, they

(19:21):
would have made it, and then they did not.

Speaker 6 (19:23):
They had to have been drunk.

Speaker 4 (19:26):
I thought that was I thought that was ridiculous. Right,
let's talk about Indiana's Kurt Signetti. He signs a deal
through twenty thirty three, so I don't know how many
years that is, but it's a lot. Eight nine years,
eleven point eight million dollars a year. It'll make him
the third highest paid coach in college football and fully
guaranteed total of ninety three million dollars. Now, I had

(19:50):
predicted that because of James Franklin and a lot of
these contracts, including Mark Stoops, teams would not want to
sign on to have to pay all that money and
be guarante teed Well. I was wrong, because Indiana did
it two days later. For that, I know he's a
great coach, I get it. But nobody signs these deals

(20:13):
and doesn't think they're going to work, or you wouldn't
sign them. Do you think they'll ever regret that? Or
do you think he's so good he'll be good forever.

Speaker 7 (20:22):
I think he's done things for Indiana football I didn't
think could ever be done. And if you're Indiana, it's
probably a good move.

Speaker 9 (20:27):
Because you think he.

Speaker 7 (20:28):
Would leave for Penn State Florida, or Penn State or Auburnham.
Maybe one of these other jobs is gonna open up,
are already open. So I think they had to lock
him up now to keep him from leaving Bloomington.

Speaker 5 (20:38):
People said the same thing about Mark Steers. He did
things here that we thought could never be done. We
never thought that he could get the ten wins. Indiana
football has been good for two years. Do you really
believe that Indiana football in five six years is still
going to be a top ten team? Well, what's gonna
happen when they suck again and you're stuck with the
guy with a ninety three million dollars by it?

Speaker 4 (20:56):
I mean, that's that's the question. Yeah, I mean that
that is exactly the question. I understand why they do it, Drew,
But wouldn't it be funny if, like when Stoop signed
his deal and then lost to Vanderbilt. Wouldn't it be
funny if Indiana like lost this week right after doing it.

Speaker 8 (21:14):
He's kind of unique though, in that he's like a
new hot name. But he's in his mid sixties, so
no matter what, he doesn't have that's true that much left.
I means he gonna coach when he's eighty, so they're
probably seeing a short window no matter what.

Speaker 4 (21:27):
He's sixty four.

Speaker 8 (21:28):
Yeah, I mean, you know, when Stoop's got the extension,
he's what ten to twelve years, So it's kind of
a unique spot. He put that video out about they
love it there, and you know, if you're sixty four
and you just got there and they're paying you so, well,
maybe he would stay around. But I think he would
be an exception.

Speaker 4 (21:44):
Yeah, it's just interesting because I kind of thought those
contracts were a thing of the past. I just kind
of thought they're not gonna do that unless your Nick Saban,
They're just not gonna do it. Well, turns out they
are gonna do it and continue to do it. Who's
up next, Chuck up next, Chuck, go ahead, Chuck.

Speaker 13 (22:01):
Good morning, and join the show. Thank you had a
thought about the basketball player's money. I got a friend
in the horse business, he's been in all his life,
and he's got a saying it's hard to make money
with cheap horses, and I think that applies to all
our sports.

Speaker 4 (22:20):
And yeah, you know, I think that's a fair point.

Speaker 13 (22:22):
And the next the next question is what do you
do with it? And you know you've got a million
dollar horses that never race. In fact, the most expensive
year ever sold never raced and it was over ten
million dollars. So so here, So I'll just leave that
where it is. But I expect Pope to overachieve with

(22:44):
whatever I think he's.

Speaker 4 (22:45):
Gonna I think if you appreciate the call, if you
hire Pope, you think Pope's good. He's never had the
best roster anywhere he's ever been, including last year. Now
you try to get him closer and closer to have
in the best roster. I love seeing some clips of
these all games. They just showed. Kentucky West Virginia twenty fifteen,
still another one of my favorite basketball moments. Standing there,

(23:07):
the West Virginia players are like, we're gonna beat them.
And then Kentucky comes out for their practice and I
look at Willie caley Stein and I say, did you
hear what?

Speaker 9 (23:16):
So hear what they said?

Speaker 4 (23:17):
And he was like what they say? And I said,
they said they were gonna beat you all, and he went, no,
they didn't. And then he looked at the risk guys.
He goes say that again, and I said, they said,
they're gonna beat you all, and there I just knew
it that moment. It was gonna be bad for West Virginia.
If you remember, we won by like forty and at zero.
His name is Dexterro MILESX. That's right, we'll take a break,
be right back. This is Kentucky Sports Radio. Water back

(23:39):
here Kentucky Sports Radio forty six solutions, Lexington based Technology,
Audio video Integration. Glad to be here. Great crowd this
this morning. It's coming out on a Friday on a
beautiful day. Give a shout out to from one of
our listeners who Drew came Bet heard us back when
we used to do podcast the lobby of the Hyatt

(24:02):
Tyler and Uh prayers to his daughter Lilah as well.
Their Tyler's dad is here with us. Nice to see you.
I saw. We've got people here, like you said, from
Minnesota who've made the drive. So great crowd here, and
we'll be in Lexington again next week before the Purdue game.

Speaker 9 (24:19):
I have the scoop on the torn Achilles.

Speaker 4 (24:23):
Alright, hang on, First of all, he didn't warn me.
He didn't, Mario, he didn't warn me about this during
the break. Now we know Shan. We know what his
scoops have been, likelycently and this is a very serious scoop.
Do you feel confident, I mean, are we Is this
a breaking news scoop? Ah? Big time? All right. First

(24:43):
of all, before we do it, here's the video of
Rian getting thrown down at the derby. Oh they took
it away. Oh they already showed. All right, let's do
some breaking news here then. All right, Ryan Lemon, this
is up to you.

Speaker 7 (24:59):
Somebody did get her. It was not a UK basketball player.
It was somebody in the UK like education side, like
a different department with a different department, like a professor.

Speaker 9 (25:11):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (25:11):
Like your breaking news is that a UK education professor
got hurt.

Speaker 7 (25:19):
Some other department who had nothing to do with basketball
or the basketball department.

Speaker 9 (25:23):
No, the basketball staff. It's a different department.

Speaker 4 (25:26):
And he got hurt, got hurt. Okay, that's it. Where
was the game? Uh?

Speaker 9 (25:30):
That's there. I don't know.

Speaker 4 (25:31):
So this is not a very full news report. No.

Speaker 9 (25:34):
I can work on that in the next segment.

Speaker 8 (25:37):
But you are saying we can excel on being a
UK player.

Speaker 4 (25:40):
All right, or UK guys are fine, okay, good, good, right,
Well you find this in the next segment because we
want to make sure we think about the person that
it happened to. Where was the game? Okay? And what
the where do they really work? Gotcha? All right, we'll
see it. We'll see how that goes.

Speaker 7 (25:54):
Let me send Let me send my my source of
text as we speak.

Speaker 4 (26:00):
Five nine two twenty two eighty seven Drew, what'd you
think about John Calipery saying he made a pronouncement at
Media Day if one of his players goes in the portal, ever,
they're off the team. He said, I will not engage
in transactions with players, but he does say if you

(26:22):
go in the portal, then that means you want money.
You can't come back. That hasn't always been his policy.

Speaker 8 (26:28):
He doesn't want transactional, he wants hold on. I was
watching them transformation transformational. It was a pure coincidence. I
sat down to watch Media Days the other day and
when I turned on my TV, They're like, now here's
John Caliperry, and I watched everything he had to say.
Did you know he did the John Wall dance during
that press conference?

Speaker 4 (26:45):
No, I did not.

Speaker 8 (26:46):
Jack Pilgrim asked him about Wall coming back to Big
Blue Man. This is a cow with the Arkansas logo
behind him.

Speaker 4 (26:52):
What do you think about the idea about a policy
of if you have a player and he goes in
the portal Shannon Bay But clearly the fact you're thinking
about it means get out.

Speaker 5 (27:03):
I mean, I think a lot of players after the
season are going to want to look around and see
what their options are. And I don't think that's gonna
bold well for them. I think there's gonna be a
lot of players that want to go into the portal
and see what else is out there.

Speaker 6 (27:14):
They're gonna leave.

Speaker 4 (27:15):
But isn't he mean a hypocrite?

Speaker 6 (27:17):
Yes, dude do this to him.

Speaker 4 (27:18):
I mean, first of all, this a dude did this
to him. But also, oh, I don't know, John, you
did it all the time. You went and looked in
the portal, all the time you went and looked at UCLA. Yeah,
you went and looked at the Cleveland calves. You went,
we went into portal taking This continues a theme you've
heard me say for years of coaches are absolute hypocrites.

(27:41):
They want to be able to do something, and then
when the player does it, they're selfish and transactional. You
don't think when you went to UCLA and got a
job offer and came back and forced Mitch Barnhart to
give you a lifetime contract. You don't think that was transactional? Sure,
I mean stop it that And it's not just Cal.

(28:03):
They ninety percent of coaches say something like this and
they are all completely full of it.

Speaker 8 (28:09):
Well, this is what I thought when Todd Golden was
kind of being bitter about ever, actly did you not
leave San Francisco?

Speaker 4 (28:14):
Because yes, and guess what if Florida's paid it were
to just pay Golden like six million, and along came
Kentucky or whatever to give eleven. Guess what my man's
in the car moving his family to Lexington. Like like
when when I saw Cal say that. Cal has always
been really good about like understanding players first, all that stuff.

(28:35):
But it was the first time I was like, you're
signing like an old man with this transactional stuff. Dude,
you've been doing that ruin your whole career.

Speaker 7 (28:43):
It seemed like every summer it was another job or
an NBA job, or a college he was trying to
going to come after college. We like a ritual we
did went through every single summer when he was here.

Speaker 4 (28:51):
Which is fine by the way, But then you can't
complain when the player does the same thing.

Speaker 7 (28:56):
Right, We know, we're very glad Otega. You know, he
kind of looked around in the transfer a little bit.
He came back.

Speaker 9 (29:01):
We're very thankful. Guys do come back like that.

Speaker 4 (29:04):
Yeah, I'm good. I'm good with it, maybe because I'm
at a school that can actually win these these these
bidding auctions. But who's up next?

Speaker 1 (29:13):
Mark?

Speaker 9 (29:14):
Is up next?

Speaker 8 (29:14):
Mark?

Speaker 4 (29:15):
Go ahead? And Mark?

Speaker 10 (29:17):
Hey, what's going on?

Speaker 4 (29:18):
Mat Not much. I'm looking at Ryan uh with his
with his source asking He's not getting the response on
his questions. I wonder, I wonder if his source has
turned him off.

Speaker 10 (29:28):
But go ahead, Hey, two things real quick. Hey, first time,
why would we worry about JB. Prisser If you lost
one point four million dollars, that's the equivalent of a
man that makes one hundred thousand dollars losing thirty five dollars.

Speaker 4 (29:41):
I mean, you're probably right, You're probably right. But Ryan,
even though it's not you, there's just something about it.
Losing would make it worse for you, even though he's
a billionaire.

Speaker 9 (29:52):
It does to me.

Speaker 7 (29:52):
I don't know, I just feel like it's a little
reckless listeners on his head.

Speaker 4 (29:55):
He wants his gamblers to win.

Speaker 9 (29:57):
Win, you win, I think I'm okay with it. You're losing.
I mean that tells me you're a loser like me,
and you lose all the.

Speaker 6 (30:02):
Time, and you don't want to help be in government.

Speaker 4 (30:04):
Wait a minute, a loser like you, then that would
seem like somebody you could relate to.

Speaker 7 (30:08):
Yeah, but I have yet to win on draft kings.
I have yet to win at Keenland. I have yet
to win a poker. No, I'm not good at catching picks.

Speaker 10 (30:17):
Yes, go ahead, Hey, second thing, real quick, Second thing,
real quick?

Speaker 4 (30:21):
Hey.

Speaker 10 (30:21):
I think right now, UK is in a real tough
position in regards to football. You got to go down
one to two lanes. You go down with a proven
guy who's probably won at a lower level, kind of
like coach Signetti. Honestly, if you give me equal rosters
for anybody across the country and let him coach the
same team as the other team, I'm gonna take him
every time the guys out of the coach. He's always

(30:43):
been a hold of the coach. The other thing is,
so when I only person I see the kind of
falls down that line and I think it'll help us
is John Somerl. I wouldn't look at a will Stein.
Will Stein. Yeah, you may score a few more points,
but at flashy offense last week. The will Stein had
went against Signetti this.

Speaker 4 (31:00):
Week And no, you're right, I mean, but that's one game.

Speaker 10 (31:04):
Four years from now, will Styde will be gone.

Speaker 4 (31:06):
Yeah, but that's one game. I mean, that's one game.
And when you say three or four years, well, when
you say three or four years, will Steyle be gone?
People would have said that about Signetti, right, And now
it might just be a different age. I mean, and
I appreciate the call. In the age of revs share,
you might be able to keep your coaches. I don't
know if you're if you're willing to pay them. Here's
what I would do, Drew, if we end up hiring

(31:27):
a coach. It used to be the case, even four
years ago, that I think you would take the coach
with the best resume, et cetera. It's a new age,
all right. We do not know what sports. I mean,
if you went to that wendel Ford panel Friday, the
people who are at the forefront of deciding this stuff,
they don't even know what it's gonna look like next year.

(31:48):
Like the common theme of everybody on the panel was
we don't know what this is gonna look like next year.
I if I was interviewing people in the next month
or two months for this job, I would sit there
and say, who is smart? Who is the kind of
person that can help navigate this The football needs to matter,
but you need a creative person. And Signetty was clearly

(32:11):
that it doesn't have to be an age person, like
it doesn't have to be a young person, but I'd
be looking for smart for me, the next coach better
be ready because this is as just as much a
business now as it is football, and you need somebody
who can navigate both. That's why Mark Pope's so perfect.
Mark Pope is really smart. He's also a good basketball coach,

(32:31):
but he's really smart. We need somebody like that on
football too.

Speaker 8 (32:35):
And I would want to fill in the interview that
they're embracing the chaos now, not complain about it.

Speaker 4 (32:39):
Totally agree, like.

Speaker 8 (32:40):
To use a summer all as example. His star quarterback
last year left and went to Duke. He was celebrating them.
They played Duke and at midfield they're hugging Missieu. He
knows that that's just how it works. It's hard to
keep guys. He went and got another one. He's just
doing fine. He's embracing the portal in this new age
exactly at the guys are running from it.

Speaker 4 (32:55):
If I would ask what I'd ask the first question, Shannon,
what do you think about the future of college football?
And if he starts complaining, then.

Speaker 6 (33:03):
I don't want to know. Yep, I don't want him.

Speaker 4 (33:05):
Because, like, complaints aren't gonna get you anywhere.

Speaker 5 (33:07):
And as much as you may not like the state
of what it is, not going back to the old
way that this is what it is. This is what
it is, so you might as well embrace it.

Speaker 8 (33:14):
Yeah, there are guys out there that love this. They
want to get in it, they want to be a
part of Mark.

Speaker 4 (33:18):
I mean, remember what Mark said at Media Day. He said,
this is the most exciting time to coach college basketball
ever because of the unknown. Now you might disagree with that,
but that's who you want in charge during this time.
Ryan is somebody who believes that.

Speaker 7 (33:31):
Yeah, and they can adapt and adjustice as the game
adjust itself. Cal I thought was really good at that
at the beginning cand of stand ahead of the curve.

Speaker 4 (33:38):
But then the curve went somewhere he didn't want to
and he stopped. That's exactly right, and that's that's the problem.
When was the last time you really looked at your skin?
With Kentucky Skins Cancer Center and wants you to know
that when it comes to skins cancer, it can be
easy to miss. I went and had my stuff checked,
and you know, I had something taken off. There was
another one that people said, well, we're gonna watch this one,
et cetera. And then when you get it taken off,

(33:58):
like you had it like froze, and now it's already gone.
Like this was like a spot I had head for
a long time. Now it's completely gone. You can get
that done at the Kentucky Skin Cancer Center offices and
on Onesboro, Bowling Green, Glasgow, Franklin and what's the small town, Yeah,
but that's the county. What's the town, Nebo, that's county
and that's not that's never been said as part of this.

(34:19):
Anybody know anybody listen powderly, Yes, that's when you work
for somebody. We work with somebody for seventeen years, they
get it. That's right. Two seven eight four two, nineteen
ninety nine. It's the Kentucky Skin Cancer Center Kentucky Skin
Cancer Center dot com that said, I gave a really

(34:39):
complimentary interview about Drew. Uh just the other day. We
we we we We've gotten picked for this award that
I can't say yet that's gonna come out here in
about a couple of weeks. And they asked me about Drew.
They said, how have you worked together so long? And
he was I was like, He's the only person that
could stand me that entire period of That's what I

(35:00):
tell people to exactly. We'll take a break, come back.
Final segment. This is KSR.

Speaker 8 (35:05):
Ryan Timmins walking back.

Speaker 4 (35:07):
In his final segment here of Kentucky Sports Radio. If
I'm nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven, Uh,
text machine is seven seven two seven seven four five
two five four here forty six Solutions. Thank you very
much to forty six Solutions for having us here. Uh.
Yesterday on the show, I noted that Ryan was not
here and he had to deal with something, and Ryan

(35:29):
wanted UH to say a little something about what he
what he was doing yesterday, and I wanted to give
you a chance to do that.

Speaker 7 (35:35):
Yeah, I appreciate because yesterday was a really tough day
for my family and me as my son got sentenced
for being involved in his shooting for like four and
a half years ago.

Speaker 10 (35:44):
Uh.

Speaker 7 (35:44):
He was sentenced to fifteen years. And you know him
and the other guy, teal, they both deserve to be punished.
They should be punished. But now I think, you know,
I hope we can all like hope and pray for
that little boy who's Malchi Roberts, who's now ten years old.
Found out yesterday he goes to a special school for
the blind. He's learned how to ride a bike, he
jumps off diving boards into swimming pools. I mean, the

(36:06):
kid is doing fantastic. So his mom, Casey's a great mother.
So you know, I just hope someday I can meet
him and tell him how sorry we are.

Speaker 4 (36:13):
And you know, right listen, we love you. You've been
a wonderful First of all, that was nice for you
to say you've been a wonderful father. And I know
how difficult this has been for your family. And I
want to say to a lot of the folks who listen,
many people have offered support, please pray for that young

(36:35):
man and the young, the kid, and also you know
it's a tough thing as a father. I'm sure to
have to sit there and watch your son be sinnence yesterday.
But I just want you to know how much we
all are with you, and I've watched you over these
four and a half years and what that's been like
for you. And hopefully this gives a little bit of
closure as well. I appreciate it.

Speaker 7 (36:55):
And like I said, I hope I can meet him
someday and just.

Speaker 9 (36:59):
Tell him I'm sorry, right, Just pray for him.

Speaker 4 (37:02):
Love you man. Eight five to nine two eight oh
twenty two eighty seven. We're gonna switch gears, which is
uh for tonight. You've got we got DraftKings. You can
go to dk dot com, get the app, use my
pro po code KSR. Go to DraftKings. We'll have a
KSR parlay. Let's first do Louisville and Miami tonight. Miami's

(37:23):
an eleven and a half point favorite. We got the
Canes have to win, Yeah, have to.

Speaker 5 (37:28):
I think Miami wins, but I think Louisville covers the
point spread, so I would take a look.

Speaker 4 (37:32):
I actually kind of agree with you on that. I
think Louisville covers Miami wins. I agree.

Speaker 8 (37:36):
I bet against Louisville with Virginia a couple of weeks ago.
I'm not gonna do it again, Miami Louisville.

Speaker 7 (37:40):
I got Miami and Roland. Well, I think Miami's really
really good.

Speaker 4 (37:43):
All right, let's do uh, let's do our ksr parlay.
Rick is going to replace Ryan. Ryan is oh and well,
now he hit it once, we won twice and so
but since then it's been an absolute disaster. So Rick
is gonna replace Rick. I'm gonna let you go first,
since you get to be part of it. What would
you like?

Speaker 11 (38:03):
Okay, I'm picking LSU.

Speaker 4 (38:05):
Have you done any research, by the way.

Speaker 11 (38:08):
A little bit here, I don't know if it is
or not, but okay, go for it. LSU and Vandy
for tomorrow. I'm saying the LSU over Vandy thirty five
to twenty eight.

Speaker 4 (38:19):
All right, so you're gonna take LSU to cover h Well,
they're actually Fandy's a favorite by one.

Speaker 5 (38:24):
And let me throw at something that Billy just sent me.
Vanderbilt has not been favored against an SEC opponent since
nineteen seventy eight. That can't be true against any Secity
SEC opponent. One hundred and seventy seven SEC games later,
Vanderbilt is finally a favorite and it's LSU.

Speaker 4 (38:40):
Yes, wow, I'm with you. Rick to me, this is
the lock of the century.

Speaker 6 (38:46):
That was gonna be my pick.

Speaker 4 (38:47):
Actually, well, you don't get to book out, so.

Speaker 6 (38:50):
You pick, so I can scram LSU.

Speaker 4 (38:52):
All right, so I'll pick. I'll also take a noon
game as well. I'm taking another team that's a one
and a half point UNDERTOG. I'm gonna take Georgia Tech
to win at Duke. Duke has no home field advantage whatsoever,
and the Ramlin Recks been playing well, so I'll take
Georgia Tech. So we got Georgia Tech and LSU both
to cover. Drew Franklin, What do you got?

Speaker 8 (39:13):
I am taking a road favorite, which I don't normally do.
But Texas Tech is at Arizona State. Arizona State lost
by thirty last weekend. Texas Tech is top five in
offense and defense. They're seven point favorite. So I'll take
Texas Tech covering a touchdown at Arizona.

Speaker 4 (39:30):
So you're taking him to cover?

Speaker 8 (39:31):
Yeah, Well, if it's an option, I'll take him to win.
But we were doing spreads.

Speaker 4 (39:35):
All right, So you got Texas Tech. We've got I'll
tell you what you and I will just pick LSU
and Georgie Tech just to win because we'll get better
odds with that. You good with that? Oh? Okay?

Speaker 6 (39:46):
Well, I mean I had another pick, but that's fine.

Speaker 4 (39:47):
Oh I'm sorry me and Rick? Yeah, what would you? Yeah?

Speaker 5 (39:50):
Okay, So I had to scramble at picking Ox Last
week I picked Oklahoma. It was a bad pick. This
week I'm picking against him. I've been to take South
Carolina plus four and a half at home against oak South.

Speaker 4 (40:00):
Carolina plus four and a half. All right, So for
our spread is is me and Rick we picked Georgia
Tech and LSU to win outright. Drew picks Texas Tech
to cover, and Shannon picks South Carolina to cover the
four and a half. So there you go. All right,
let's talk about the Cats Texas right now. Texas is
a thirteen and a half point favorite. Ryan, give me

(40:22):
some positivity. Give me something that says we have a
shot tomorrow night at seven o'clock that.

Speaker 7 (40:28):
It might rain a whole lot storm and maybe that
might help us slop in a couple touchdowns on the goal.

Speaker 4 (40:37):
Line slop in a couple touchdowns.

Speaker 7 (40:39):
Yeah, and the slop and the miss and the mud.
That's my positivity I think for tomorrow.

Speaker 4 (40:44):
Okay, well let me give you but by the way, today,
quickly tell people about the lunch thing they can do.

Speaker 7 (40:49):
As soon as we're done here, we're all going across
the street to White Castle on Reading Road. It's a
benefit for the Nest. The NEST is a great facility
organization helps battered women, women going through addiction problems, and
everything you order you can round up and all that
extra money goes to help the NEST.

Speaker 9 (41:03):
So we're all going straight from here, not all.

Speaker 4 (41:05):
I have a meeting.

Speaker 9 (41:06):
A couple of us are.

Speaker 7 (41:07):
Going from I'll be there, Shannon's going, Billy's going, like
Mario's going.

Speaker 4 (41:11):
Maybe yes, Mario, Billy, Shannon and Ryan. But you go
just across the street over there to White Castle, have
lunch with them, and the money goes to the NEST.
So that's that's very nice.

Speaker 9 (41:23):
Thank you.

Speaker 4 (41:25):
She don't want him to eat lunch by himself. I
don't think that's right. Give me, give me a So
that's at the White Castle on Reading Road. All right,
Shannon scoring MVP. What Reynolds Reynolds, Sorry, I mean Reynolds
Road Rental Roads. Okay, thank you for being a good advertiser. Right,
Shannon scoring MVP.

Speaker 5 (41:46):
The Castle lose twenty eight fourteen. Cutter Bowllie's my MVP.

Speaker 8 (41:49):
All right, Kats lose thirty one thirteen. But to be positive,
you asked Ryan Arch maybe he might not be him
and at home the defense has been forcing turnovers in
those first three games. Even it gets old, so it's
not impossible, but I worry the offense just can't VP.
Alex Safari all right, I don't know why I said that.

Speaker 7 (42:08):
Catch lose thirty four to three. Aiden Laarross has to
punt about a dozen times here on MVP.

Speaker 4 (42:15):
I'm gonna give you. I think it's gonna be a really, really,
really brutal game to watch. I think Kentucky lose is
seventeen to three in an awful game to watch. I
will take yeah, Seth McGowan will still have some good
runs in that. Thank you all very much here at

(42:36):
