Welcome everyone in Kentucky. Sports Radio, Tuesday, October twenty eighth.
I'm Matt Jones here in Louisville, Kentucky, where we are
all in the Louisville Studios, which happens very rarely that
we are all here in studio in Louisville, but we're here,
Ry Lemon, Drew Franklin, and I. You can give Sean
the Clark's Puppy Shop phone line. That's eight five to
(00:52):
nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven. This is
going to be an Ask Anything Tuesday, since I'm in
studio with Louisville, since Rick is as from the phone,
so he won't be as mean as Shannon Rick. You're
not gonna be mean to the callers today, are you? No?
Speaker 3 (01:05):
I never do that.
Speaker 2 (01:06):
Yeah, I've heard you get an attitude sometimes. Yeah. The
uh Clark's Pupping Shop fall line AF I'm nine two

four In this edition sponsored by the T. J. Smith
Office called Tj'll Make Him Pay. You can ask anything football, basketball,
or just a question about life. We'll do it for you.
(01:28):
Today on a Tuesday, we are in Louisville because one
of our we now have a new regional boss. So
this is somebody who's over like the entire UH southeast
of the country, like basically runs all the radio talent
in the southeast of the country. They came here to
meet us today. They separated us. I have to meet
(01:51):
him for lunch, yes, but you all met him before.
They've wanted to separate us, right, which is like you
know what they say, divide and conquer. It's a strategy
of war, it's a strategy of business. So I haven't
met this person yet. You all just met him. You
just met him, what did you think? Very personally, and
he offered a fire you know what.
Speaker 3 (02:11):
The first thing he did ask Drew was did you
guys really start in a basement? It was the first
thing he wanted to know, That was first question.
Speaker 2 (02:16):
First question. Well, good, so you you didn't do anything
to like heart us?
Speaker 3 (02:21):
No, we we bragged on you bragged on all of us.
He's really personal, really easy to talk to. I think
he's gonna be a good guy to work for.
Speaker 4 (02:27):
All right, that's famous. Last words, what about you? Drew
talked about playing golf. Okay, it's good.
Speaker 3 (02:33):
He's a Saint Louis Cardinal fan too, so he and
I immediately connected.
Speaker 2 (02:35):
Well good, well, I'm glad you too.
Speaker 4 (02:37):
He separated. I can't tell you what I said. I
got to talk about you all. So that's the point
of separating.
Speaker 2 (02:42):
Pointed to Bide and Concert, because if I know what
you all said, then I come in and say the
same thing.
Speaker 3 (02:47):
He was really asking some good questions, like he wanted
to know about this Jay Lucas and Patrick Patterson thing.
He couldn't didn't know who the guys were, but he
knew there was some sort of recruitment that kind of helped.
Speaker 2 (02:54):
He knew about Jay Lucas and Patrick Patters.
Speaker 3 (02:56):
He said, was he knew there was a recruitment that
kind of helped springboard the website.
Speaker 2 (03:00):
Okay, gotcha? Well, well anyway, so we are here in Louisville.
What horrible traffic the city had good today? What is
wrong with you people in Louisville.
Speaker 4 (03:10):
I got up early. I left seven point fifteen. That
should have been plenty of time. I had intentions of
going to this coffee shop down here eating breakfast. Got
here at nine to twenty. It took over two hours
to get from Lexington to Louisville.
Speaker 2 (03:21):
I don't know what they did, but I sixty four
was just a parking lot from uh it's about Shelbyville.
Speaker 3 (03:27):
I mean it backs up way back.
Speaker 2 (03:29):
It was. It was awful. It was awful. I don't
know what you all did here Louisville. Why why is
it happening? And then the thing about all these traffic
jams in Louisville, they never seem to have a reason.
Speaker 3 (03:38):
That's it. That's not gonna say.
Speaker 2 (03:39):
You never get to a thing that makes sense as
to why they're happening. Because there's never a wreck or something.
It's just you just it's just backed up.
Speaker 3 (03:46):
Like there's one time where the three lanes funnel down
to two. That's the only thing I saw. I can't
believe it backed up all the way for that. Something
else happening.
Speaker 2 (03:53):
If you're coming from Lexington to Louisville, just no leave yesterday.
It's gonna take a little while to get here. But
we're here and excited to have you. Eight five, nine
two eight twenty two eighty seven. Ask anything Wednesday, hoping
you'll give us a shout. We I was trying to
think which way to go today. Last night I did
(04:14):
something I very rarely do because I'm kind of a
night out. I bailed on the baseball game. I went
thirteen in it.
Speaker 3 (04:21):
Well you made it further than I did.
Speaker 2 (04:23):
And I thought, you know, I just got to go
to sleep, and then they went eighteen. You just at
three in the morning.
Speaker 3 (04:30):
Played a doubleheader last night.
Speaker 2 (04:31):
They're saying it's the what maybe the best long World
Series game of all time? Did anyone finish it?
Speaker 5 (04:39):
No?
Speaker 3 (04:39):
I tapped out about the ninth inning. I don't think
I made it the extra innings.
Speaker 2 (04:43):
About where you did.
Speaker 4 (04:44):
I'd say, around the thirteenth I dozed off.
Speaker 2 (04:46):
I had it on.
Speaker 4 (04:46):
I was trying, but I wasn't gonna fight the eyelids
when they were closing it just I couldn't hang.
Speaker 2 (04:51):
For I gave it thirteen. Well I started in like
the eighth, but I gave it from the eighth to
the thirteenth. It was very exciting, right.
Speaker 3 (04:58):
Yes, Freddie Freeman went on a walk off in the
bottom of the eighteenth show.
Speaker 2 (05:02):
Hal Toddy gets on base nine times. That's crazy man,
nine times. Crazy, first player to ever get four extra
base hits in a World Series game. And then they
intentionally walked him four times, so he ended up getting
on base nine times.
Speaker 3 (05:19):
Insane, that's it.
Speaker 2 (05:20):
But you know what, it's a World Series record. But
you know that's happened twice before in a baseball No,
I didn't know that, So it was the third time
someone's ever gotten Now, I want to do you feel
like he's the greatest at Do you think he's the
greatest baseball player of all time? Are you ready to put?
I mean, who are the contenders? Right? So the contenders
(05:41):
would be Barry Bonds, Babe Ruth what, Mickey Mantle.
Speaker 3 (05:51):
But Babe Ruth only got it pitched and hit.
Speaker 2 (05:54):
Do you think you have to pitch and hit to
be the greatest player? Because nobody does that.
Speaker 3 (05:58):
To me, that's what puts him over the top everybody else,
the fact he can be a big league pitcher and
maybe the best big league hitter in our game right now.
Speaker 2 (06:06):
So are you going to say, are you gonna say
he's the best player of all timeause he's pitching Game four,
doing all that, He's pitching the ninth you.
Speaker 3 (06:13):
Get your team to the World Series. Yes, to me,
he's the greatest baseball player ever.
Speaker 2 (06:19):
I agree.
Speaker 4 (06:19):
I don't think it's close. Because you said no one
else does this, Well, that's the point. He's doing what
no one else does and is excellent at both.
Speaker 2 (06:27):
Rick, you got to wake up and answer these calls.
I can see them ringing. Rick, Well I'm here. Are
you going to answer these calls?
Speaker 3 (06:35):
Yes?
Speaker 2 (06:36):
Okay, just doing it on your own pace. I get
the job done, Okay, I'm just making sure. Yeah, it
is an amazing thing. It's crazy, but he's also like crazy.
He's definitively the best hitter. Yes, and he's one of
the really good pitchers.
Speaker 3 (06:56):
Yeah, he's in their starting rotation. The dude throws one
hundred miles an hour. It's amazing what he's able to do.
Speaker 2 (07:01):
Do you Okay, so when various people have played, like
Tiger or Michael Jordan, you sort of appreciate in the
moment I'm watching greatness. Do you feel that way about
shoe Heyo Tomy?
Speaker 3 (07:18):
I do? Yeah. I get excited when he comes up
to the plate because like, in any moment, what was
that game in the Championship Series he had three home runs?
I mean, like, the dude is just he's a special
player that we should really be able to appreciate what
we're watching.
Speaker 2 (07:32):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (07:32):
I don't even love baseball, but if if Tani's a bat,
you gotta lock in.
Speaker 3 (07:36):
You gotta watch him.
Speaker 4 (07:36):
You know, I'm not a historian. I can't rank the
best players ever, but I can't even think of anyone
you could say to put ahead of him, Like, what
would the case be for someone else?
Speaker 2 (07:44):
I did like last night. Oh I no, I don't
know what it would be. I mean in my lifetime,
I would have said Barry Bonds up until today right
or up until like this year, because I loved watching
Barry Bonds as a kid, and he was good even
before he started roid.
Speaker 3 (07:58):
Now yeah, he could hit forty homers and still forty bases.
Speaker 2 (08:00):
Yeah, I will say it was difficult to watch a
dude we cut from the Reds in the World Series
last night when when the one guy got hurt, George Springer,
they were like coming to the game, ty France, and
I was like, ty France, I remember that guy from
last year. He's on the team. So that's a little
(08:21):
difficult to watch.
Speaker 3 (08:21):
So he's on the Blue Jays.
Speaker 2 (08:22):
I didn't know he is. I think we got rid
of him at the end of last year and they
had to put him in. They had a pinch runner
last night. Who's the slowest pinch runner I've ever seen?
Did you see that guy? He tried to go from
first to home? He's still all that guy. He got
thrown out by a he did close. Yeah, but I've
enjoyed it. This has been very enjoyable.
Speaker 3 (08:44):
Now they played tonight, I mean the game gets over
at three in the morning. They play again tonight.
Speaker 2 (08:49):
I liked it. Now equally is important. Are you ready
for next week? You're eating a loane week. We're starting
next Monday. You've got seven straight days. Have you processed
that you're going to do this.
Speaker 3 (09:06):
I've talked it over with the younger girl. Why because
we try to eat dinner together, Like I need to
eat dinner by myself, and I think I think you
said I got to stay an hour by myself there
at the restaurant.
Speaker 2 (09:18):
Well, I'm hoping you don't have a clock to count.
Speaker 3 (09:20):
Will but you put the stuff watch.
Speaker 2 (09:23):
So yeah, have you figured out where you want to go?
What places would you like to go?
Speaker 3 (09:27):
Me tell you sure, I'm want to hit all the
neighborhood places, Drakes, Applebee's, El Mariachi.
Speaker 2 (09:34):
There's a Chinese freeing you wherever you want to eat,
and you're picking Applebee's. I wouldn't. I wouldn't do anything,
I understand, But don't you why not try now that
you're doing this new thing, why not try some new places.
Speaker 3 (09:46):
Yeah, I'm not big on those new places. I like
what I like. Applebee's I think is very underrated. I
think the food of Applebee's is really good.
Speaker 2 (09:53):
All right, Brakes, Applebee's, El Mariachi, where bread you're just
naming Molden. I want to go somewhere that's I mean, Like,
why don't you try new places?
Speaker 3 (10:05):
I think I need to support my my hood where
I live.
Speaker 4 (10:08):
You know, it's not it's about being comfortable here I
see it.
Speaker 3 (10:12):
Yeah, I think I need to go to waffle House
on Georgetown Road.
Speaker 4 (10:16):
There's a lot of new restaurants in Lexity.
Speaker 2 (10:17):
Here's the problem, though, we can't I'm asking I can't
tell people where you're going, because then they'll come to
talk to you.
Speaker 3 (10:23):
I don't want I don't want that.
Speaker 2 (10:24):
You don't want that. This is this is supposed to
enrich your salt.
Speaker 3 (10:27):
Rich State Barbecue is right down the road. It's probably
gonna be on my leg.
Speaker 4 (10:30):
Continues to say the one about being comfortable. He knows
the people that own these places. And anytime you go
to Applebee's it's basically a little league team just about
to go to a game. Sorry, he'll know the coaches
and the players.
Speaker 2 (10:42):
Big Applebee's is just one big little league team. Yes,
this is kind of the kind of place that seems
like a little league place.
Speaker 3 (10:50):
Yes.
Speaker 2 (10:50):
Oh yeah, all right, So you're gonna go. How are
you going to spend the hour? Have you thought about?
Are you going to read?
Speaker 3 (10:58):
I think I'm probably just going to watch the game.
Try to go, and there's a game on and just
sit and watch a game and eat.
Speaker 2 (11:02):
So just sit there in silence, Yeah, and watch a game. Yes,
no stimulation.
Speaker 3 (11:09):
Well what if somebody comes up and says, hey, Ryan,
what's up?
Speaker 2 (11:12):
Okay? Of course they can talk to you, but you
cannot invite sit down.
Speaker 3 (11:15):
Won't you sit down and have a cheese stick with you?
Speaker 2 (11:17):
No, you don't get to invite me to sit out.
And you can talk to them, but they need to
move along briskly.
Speaker 3 (11:22):
And cast bar Is off the table.
Speaker 2 (11:24):
He said, right, ks Bar, I'd let you go to
kas Bar on like Tuesday because we're not that crowded. Okay,
So if you want to go on like Tuesday, I'm okay,
but you know you cannot go like wait a minute,
no way, hang on next week. Kentucky plays basketball on
Tuesday and Friday. She can't go Tuesday or Friday. Okay,
I'm doing trivia on Thursday, so you could go Wednesday.
Speaker 3 (11:43):
Wednesday.
Speaker 2 (11:44):
Matter of fact, I would appreciate that it's Wednesday. It'll
be a little cheaper for me Drew if he wants
to do that. But in general, you're just there to
experience Ryan your inner peace.
Speaker 3 (11:54):
And people are like saying Matt's byd you should go
to Tony's Jeffruby's. Like, I'm not gonna do that time.
Speaker 2 (11:58):
I'll give you one night of I would.
Speaker 3 (12:00):
I wouldn't do that too, I would.
Speaker 2 (12:02):
I would night of a Tony S or Jeff Ruby's.
Would you like to have one night of a meal
to sort of spoil yourself?
Speaker 3 (12:09):
I would feel guilty. I would.
Speaker 2 (12:10):
You don't have to feel guilty.
Speaker 4 (12:11):
I'm offering you're going to Applebee's. It cancels out apples.
Speaker 3 (12:16):
This kid has good food.
Speaker 2 (12:17):
Now, would you go in an Apple one night? Would
you like to sit? I mean, I even you know.
Speaker 3 (12:23):
I think that would be worse. Go to a nice
restaurant like that, had to sit there by yourself. I
don't know if I'd like that.
Speaker 4 (12:27):
Been to Tony's by myself many times. Get the crab cake.
Speaker 2 (12:29):
Yeah, I mean we have a former assistant football coaches
that is there probably now at one of those places
by himself. I'm just saying I'll offer that to Okay,
are you excited about.
Speaker 3 (12:42):
I am not. No, I have not you me me
if you saw me at dinner last night. I was
with yoga girl, Josiah and his new lady friend.
Speaker 2 (12:50):
That's good.
Speaker 3 (12:51):
That's what I want, that's what I like, that's what
I prefer, that's what I wouldn't want to do.
Speaker 2 (12:55):
But some people would argue though that misses the point.
The point is be peace with Ron.
Speaker 3 (13:01):
Yeah, I got to make sure there's a game on
that keeps my attention focus to go to a watch
of game.
Speaker 2 (13:06):
Do you think you know how many rules and details
just going out to How long do you think you
could sit in silence with no mental stimulation, no game,
no person, just you and your thoughts.
Speaker 3 (13:22):
Ten minutes you could do ten minutes. I could do
about ten minutes.
Speaker 2 (13:26):
Not look at your phone.
Speaker 3 (13:27):
But I might fall asleep. If I'm laying there motionless
for ten minutes, I'm probably gonna be asleep.
Speaker 2 (13:30):
Not you could not fall to use your phone.
Speaker 3 (13:32):
Okay, maybe five minutes, all right, Mario.
Speaker 2 (13:34):
It's ten seventy. There's an empty studio right over there. Yeah, okay,
right across.
Speaker 3 (13:40):
The short and leave my phone in here.
Speaker 2 (13:42):
Leave your phone, Mario, you can't talk to it. You
just guard the door, all right. You just go sit
in that studio by yourself for thirteen minutes. We'll get
you at ten thirty, okay, And then you come back
and you tell us how it went.
Speaker 3 (13:56):
I'm already sweating a little bit.
Speaker 2 (13:57):
All right, I'll see you at ten thirdy Mario can't
talk to him, all right, all right? Eight five nine
two twenty two eighty seven. He's gonna fall asleep. We're
gonna hear snoring coming from that studio. Don't you am
I wrong? This was not gonna be good for him.
Speaker 4 (14:12):
This it's so bizarre to me that, like, you shouldn't
need rules and stipulations to go out to eat by yourself.
Speaker 2 (14:18):
It's like, can I do this? Can I do this?
It's like, just go eat, Just go just the end
of that week, it's gonna be good. Height five nine
two eight oh twenty two eighty seven. We'll get we'll
get take your calls. We're also gonna talk a little football, obviously,
the stoop situation, some basketball as well as kaos are
Welcome back, Andy's Kentucky Sports Radio. Eight five nine two
eight twenty two eighty seven. You were just saying everything
(14:38):
Ryan said while he was here was false about that
you're beating with the boss.
Speaker 4 (14:42):
It wasn't It wasn't false. I think it was just
packaged a little differently.
Speaker 2 (14:45):
Than reality. Well, he made it seem like he had
done all this research about us. You're saying he didn't
know anything about us.
Speaker 4 (14:51):
Well, I don't want to say our boss didn't know
anything about us, But like Ryan used the Patterson and
Lucas thing as an example. He didn't sit down and say,
tell me about Lucas and Patterson. He said, hey, what
made that website take off back in the day? And
then you told the story? Actually, actually Lyon told the story.
Speaker 2 (15:08):
So Ryan made it sound like he knew the story,
but it was actually Ryan that told us the correct.
Speaker 4 (15:11):
We discussed everything Ryan said, We discussed, but we offered
the information to him, and then we discussed.
Speaker 2 (15:17):
Well, am I wrong? Ryan acted like he offered the
information he did.
Speaker 4 (15:21):
I wasn't gonna correct him or our boss. I don't
want to make it sound like an annoying about us,
but like, yeah, that's a different that's a different take
on it.
Speaker 6 (15:27):
Here.
Speaker 2 (15:28):
I was thinking, our boss did all this research on us,
and it sounds like Ryan did.
Speaker 4 (15:32):
Ryan's just made that up. Well, I don't want to
say he did zero research. He knew there was a website,
but that one specifically. It was, like I said, Ryan
was traditional media.
Speaker 2 (15:42):
I kind of think in his mind, Ryan already turned
it into that that he knew him.
Speaker 4 (15:48):
No, he just wanted to know what made the blog
kind of take over for traditional medium.
Speaker 2 (15:52):
And I didn't know Ryan took that well. And the
person said, Matt, you and Drew need to pick the restaurants.
He's just trying to go to places where he'll know people.
I think there's a true Yeah, we're not gonna he
doesn't get to go to restaurants on Lee's Town Road.
Speaker 4 (16:06):
I need people to know these restaurants he named that's
where I live. You lived, I've been in all of
them a million times.
Speaker 2 (16:11):
He'll know everybody.
Speaker 4 (16:13):
Manager.
Speaker 2 (16:13):
We're taking him to the other side of town where
people don't know him. Yeah, Lee's Town Road. It'll just
be like cheers.
Speaker 4 (16:20):
He'll know all those people, and all his neighbors will.
Speaker 2 (16:23):
Be his neighbors are there. That's exactly right. We can't
do that. It's ask anything Tuesday. We will. Let's go.
Let's just get started. Let's go to Billy in Georgetown.
Speaker 6 (16:31):
Go ahead, Billy, hey man, how's it going good. I
just got a little bit of info on on Malachi Moreno, okay,
I mean they could have discussed it. But fortunately my
son was at Big Blue Madness was one of the
kids that was chosen to be one of the honorary
(16:51):
assistant coaches, and he actually got the He was the
one that judged the dunk contest. But on the elevator
ride down, it was a Jason Hart. I was talking
with him and my son actually was wearing a great cross.
We're from Georgetown, and I mentioned to him. I said, hey,
you know, we're from Georgetown. You know, we're really big
(17:14):
fans of Alaca. And I said, you know, we've heard
a lot of good things about him, and he said
that he arrived on campus physically prepared and had actually
packed on twenty four pounds since arriving on campus.
Speaker 2 (17:28):
But it looks like, so what's your question?
Speaker 6 (17:32):
Oh no, that was just my comment. I just I
think that that has a I know what to ask
anything Tuesday. But I'm actually a podcast listener. The last
time I called in was back when Ryan Timmins, all right, well,
I appreciate it for football, Well, I appreciate the call.
He does look like he's he has put on. I mean,
I can't get over drew how different he is from
(17:55):
two years ago when he played in the high school
state tournament. I mean, I and.
Speaker 2 (17:58):
This goes to show that some time with these younger guys,
you can't just take your initial view and go with it.
Because I left the high school state tournament going I
don't see how that kids ranked twenty fourth in the country,
and then didn't watch him play last year until the
the what was it the Nike Classic or whatever that
he played in. I was like, Okay, he's gotten better,
(18:19):
but he's infinitely better, and he'll play a lot this
year and he's gonna be great, definitely.
Speaker 4 (18:24):
He's always been skilled and had the size advantage and
knew there was potential. But even like I feel like
I watched him a a at a game at Lexington
Catholic his senior year somewhere in person. I don't remember
the exact moment, everythinking this guy's good, but he will
get thrown around in.
Speaker 2 (18:39):
What I thought too just too thin. There was a
first rowing around by Lyon County and the tallest dude
was like six', three AND i, thought there's just this
didn't go to. Work, yeah and that to him for bulking,
up no, KIDDING i, mean and credit to you, know his.
BROTHER i talked to his brother at pro day and
how proud he was of, him Credit tall and, everybody
because he arrived on campus a different. Part and THEN
(19:00):
i saw at the end of his junior, year crease go,
ahead crease.
Speaker 7 (19:07):
Warning. GUYS i do haven't asked Anything tuesday, question AND
i promise you it's not me being. Negative my question
is is anyone at this point even a little bit
worried about recruiting for next.
Speaker 2 (19:19):
Year i'm not, worried BUT i do wonder about. IT i,
mean they don't have a commitment yet they BUT i
would say the two or three people that people have
felt the best at about haven't made a decision, Yet
so there's still A WHAT i think if you were
to have said what two months, ago who's the most
(19:39):
LIKELY uk? Class you would have? Picked probably three? Guys
what you would have?
Speaker 5 (19:43):
Picked?
Speaker 2 (19:44):
Stokes who?
Speaker 4 (19:46):
Else rippy's the guard been watching them? ALL i mean months,
Ago kenny was still in the, mix but he's now.
Speaker 2 (19:51):
Out, yeah and then what about this kid that's going
to decide this week Between kentucky AND Usc? Collins what
do you think is gonna happen with? Him has been
good about?
Speaker 5 (20:00):
Him?
Speaker 4 (20:01):
YEAH usc is one of those schools if we just
saw the last, cycle, THOUGH i mean a bad can.
Speaker 2 (20:05):
You never know, Back BUT i think it's fair to.
Wonder BUT i also think in today's day and, age
if you don't get players the portals makes it. Different
and we're gonna have a lot of guys return, crease
WHICH i think is another thing to think.
Speaker 6 (20:19):
About that is.
Speaker 7 (20:21):
True and then also, lastly did you guys happen to
watch any of The Arkansas memphis game last? NIGHT i
know that it's just an, exhibition but they look.
Speaker 2 (20:30):
GOOD i appreciate the. CALL i mean both the game
they played the other night against who did they Play?
Cincinnati then they Played? Memphis Arkansas cow may have a good.
Team he looks like he has one of his better
teams in terms of. ATHLETICISM i still think they won't
be able to shoot and they'll. Finish you, know they'll
lose games they. Shouldn't but this This cow TEAM i
(20:52):
think is Better drew than last year's count.
Speaker 4 (20:53):
Team and it looks like you hit on his guards
at least With Malik thomas when we gave a shovel
in a construction vest here when he was uh his
little construction best work that did and he had a big.
Game he looks like he'll be one of those freshmen
that that can can can play in.
Speaker 2 (21:09):
College but are you over rooting Against cal or do
you still root Against? Cal like like When arkansas plays last,
YEAR i rooted hard against them every. Game it's kind
AM i gonna do that again for? Me AND i
expected this the.
Speaker 4 (21:25):
Moment once we got past The lexington, GAME i didn't
think about him again until the.
Speaker 2 (21:28):
Time that's not, true at least for. ME i rooted.
AGAIN i MEAN i. WAS i Wanted bill self to beat.
Him are you like.
Speaker 4 (21:36):
Sitting down and watching?
Speaker 6 (21:37):
HIM i.
Speaker 2 (21:37):
WASN'T i ALWAYS i was actively rooting against.
Speaker 4 (21:39):
HIM i didn't do, that, NO i said until the.
Speaker 2 (21:41):
Tournament until the tournament watching, them BUT i DEFINITELY i.
Was i've never been a bigger fan of the two
pey THAN i was in the first. ROUND i, mean
watched The Saint john's game together and we were both
pulling hard For.
Speaker 4 (21:54):
Satan i'm saying Between november And, FEBRUARY i probably won't
think about him, once but THE sec tournament In, march
mad as y'all be rooting.
Speaker 2 (22:03):
Against, Him i'm still gonna be rooting against them is that?
BAD i, MEAN i want him to, Lose but If
i'm gonna be, Honest i'm still gonna be rooting against
him like when they're, playing because this is gonna. Happen
they're gonna play Like. Belmont they're gonna be down three
with eight minutes to, go and Then i'm gonna turn
it on and be pulling for Like i'm gonna.
Speaker 4 (22:23):
Do see my situation IS i want him to, lose
But i'm not gonna turn it on LIKE i just
don't care.
Speaker 3 (22:27):
To watch it.
Speaker 4 (22:28):
ON i GUESS i, MEAN i want him to lose every,
game But i'm Not i'm not gonna be Following arkansas
blogs and twitters and watching.
Speaker 2 (22:35):
Games, YEAH i, mean it's probably not a good characteristic
That i'm gonna But I'm i'm going to root against.
Them you, know it took. Me took me fifteen years
to stop rooting Against. Rick it's. True NOW i root For.
Rick so maybe that'll switch in a few. Years But
I'm i'm gonna be rooting against. Them If i'm nine
two eight h twenty two eighty, Seven we'll take a,
(22:55):
break very, back kiss wonder back takeing sports. Radio If
i'm nine two eighth twenty two eighty. Seven, uh here's
some ask you think questions on the air or on
the TEXT ma, sheet what person? Rights Matt what do
you think of the Bill Pat kelsey bill self? INTERACTION
i think it was. NOTHING i think it was just
like an account online that was, fake faked everybody and
(23:18):
made it seem like they were. Fighting BUT i think
it was a normal postgame. Interaction Sof davis got got
he is Or davis got, Got it's amazing how goible people.
Are And i'm not Saying i've never fallen for, anything
but like people now will fall you go On, facebook
it's just old people falling for stuff that you're, like come, on,
man just you got. It you gotta do better than.
(23:39):
That But Seth davis falling for it was, Bad SO
i think it's. Nothing one person, Writes Matt rick when
he's on here is always mysterious to. Me Can rick
give us a twenty second bio of who he? Is all? Right?
Rick twenty seconds on who you, are how old you,
are where you're, from et.
Speaker 8 (23:55):
Cetera, Okay, well first of, All i'm seventy three years,
old all, right born and raised, here In. LOUISVILLE i
was in radio in my younger days WHEN i had
more hair and when it was.
Speaker 3 (24:09):
BROWN i was A top FORTY.
Speaker 2 (24:12):
Dj oh, wow here do it do a? Voice?
Speaker 3 (24:14):
Right?
Speaker 2 (24:15):
Rick do? It do it like when you were Doing top.
Forty do a voice for?
Speaker 3 (24:18):
Me you mean like?
Speaker 2 (24:19):
This, okay SO i introduced the.
Speaker 3 (24:21):
Song, okay let's see.
Speaker 8 (24:23):
Here, Okay, hey we've got Bon jovi coming up next with.
Speaker 3 (24:31):
Legendary how's that?
Speaker 2 (24:34):
Good it's. Good that's. GOOD i can see.
Speaker 3 (24:37):
Why it worked at the. End at the, Time, no it.
Speaker 2 (24:40):
Worked it works for. Me, Now, well we appreciate you
feeling In. Rick are do you enjoy ksr?
Speaker 3 (24:45):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (24:45):
Sure, okay, Good, well we enjoy having You rhyne's. Back
how are the thirteen minutes of alone?
Speaker 3 (24:51):
TIME i got really. Sleepy the first four minutes flew.
By those last nine minutes were.
Speaker 2 (24:58):
Awful so you just fall asleep if you don't do.
ANYTHING i was.
Speaker 3 (25:02):
Laying, back have my feet. UP i was about to fall.
Speaker 2 (25:04):
Asleep what what went through your mind during the.
Speaker 3 (25:07):
Time, well you, know you immediately try to reach for your, phone, like,
oh Today's Devin key's. BIRTHDAY i need to wish him happy.
BIRTHDAY i don't have my. PHONE i gotta check MY
i have and Check twitter. TODAY i don't have my.
Phone you immediately WE'RE i think we're addicted to our.
Speaker 2 (25:22):
Phones, okay so you you had a hard time.
Speaker 3 (25:25):
WITH i did read the entire label to this water?
Bottle did you know there's a spot on the water
bottle you can put your? Name? NO i didn't know that.
Either did anybody ever know?
Speaker 9 (25:36):
That?
Speaker 2 (25:37):
See but these are the kind of things you can
learn if you start to spend more time with, yourself
you can pick up things, like, HEY i could write
my name on the water.
Speaker 3 (25:45):
Bottle, yes it's like if you got a. Team the
team mom can Write matthew on, One drew on, One
ryan on, one so we don't drink each other's.
Speaker 2 (25:53):
Water. See these are the kind of, see these are
the kind of.
Speaker 3 (25:56):
There's a, spot look at that little white, Like, okay.
Speaker 2 (25:59):
It's not this interest like that's three, teams but it's
still this is what you can.
Speaker 4 (26:03):
DO i just think how much you would know if
you just said around all the time. THINKING i can.
Speaker 3 (26:08):
See why solitary confinement is a good punishment in, prison because.
Speaker 2 (26:11):
That's it's not a good. Punishment no one considers it
a good but it's actually literally a. Bad it's. Awful
it's actually.
Speaker 3 (26:17):
TORTURE i was tortured AND i was just in. There
you were in there for.
Speaker 2 (26:20):
Thirteen, minutes and you also weren't in. Prison, yeah If
i'm nine two eight h twenty two eighty, seven GOT
I let me real. Quick let me talk a second About. Stoops,
yes they, yes they did his radio, show he, said,
uh many, things but he was asked kind of about the,
(26:42):
roster and he said he liked the, roster liked the young,
guys and then, said we did as good as we
could have in building the. Roster what do you think that?
Means said it on His coaches. SHOW i will note
on His coaches, show not one phone. CALL i felt
bad For bob And jamestown didn't even get, there not
even answering the. Phone we're at the stage of we're
not answering the, phone which is always a bad. STAGE i,
(27:05):
mean if you go back through, history go back To Tubby. Smith,
yeah the moment they stop answering the, phone it's a bad.
Sign happened With, tubby happened with cal happened With, gillespie
happened With. Joker as a matter of, FACT i think
you could argue that the most obvious sign it is
ending is when they stop answering the phone on the.
Show we're not wrong about that, point because they've all
(27:28):
every single PERSON i just mentioned that happened To Tubby,
Gillespie Cal. Joker at some point they stopped taking. Calls
and the moment they did, that it was like you
knew it was over when you don't even Answer bob
And jamestown's. Call he's on the phone right. HERE i
haven't gone to, him might not gone to him for a.
(27:49):
While you might still be on this phone line from last.
Night but when you don't answer these, Calls, ryan that
says to me it's.
Speaker 3 (27:55):
Over AND i always wonder does the directive come from
the coach or is it coming FROM jmi or the athletic.
Speaker 2 (28:01):
Department somebody's who is coming from. Knows we can't let
somebody get through here that we. Know with, this it
might be like when they close waffle house during a.
Hurricane you know it's gonna be a bad. One the
moment they stopped taking phone calls on the call in,
show you know it's, over, Right.
Speaker 4 (28:21):
You mean it's not authentic when they, say, oh we
have a submission, online how good do the young? Receivers no,
One no one's falling.
Speaker 2 (28:30):
From no one is texting into the show and saying
how good are the young? Receivers who is sending that?
In no one's sending that.
Speaker 4 (28:37):
IN i, like we're supposed to believe, though when they'll
have a few online questions that are just all, Positive
it's like.
Speaker 2 (28:44):
WHEN i heard he wasn't taking, IT i knew it was. Over,
yeah Now bob And. Jamestown let's put him On bob And.
Jamestown there's also apparently they're not taking calls on the
pregame show anymore for. BASKETBALL i feel like that's a
direct shot at, You, bob because you call every pregame.
Show are you upset that what was a tradition for
(29:07):
seventy five years seems to have? Ended it was.
Speaker 5 (29:11):
NICE i loved it's got to know the, coaches got
to know all the.
Speaker 2 (29:16):
Fans out. There but about the basketball pregame, show they're
not taking calls. Anymore David cameron, said no more calls this.
Speaker 5 (29:24):
Year, WELL i mean not to stays the. Same it's
all about.
Speaker 2 (29:30):
It that's not though an incentive for you to call here.
More just for the.
Speaker 5 (29:34):
Record, Anyway now as we're in The World, series what
do you think about the baseball? Challenge nine, beers nine
hot dogs and nine.
Speaker 2 (29:46):
Innings, WELL i certainly couldn't do. IT i appreciate the.
CALL i know a person that's done. IT i won't say.
WHO i don't want to embarrass. Them and they did
it and we're very. Successful for. Me neither of those sounds.
Appealing the hot dogs and THEN i Would there's no
WAY i could drink nine beers of.
Speaker 4 (30:07):
Anything when do we play the hard?
Speaker 2 (30:09):
Games? Yo you think you could do it?
Speaker 3 (30:11):
Easy he's the one guy on the team that could do.
Speaker 4 (30:13):
It, No i've got throuber.
Speaker 3 (30:14):
READY i.
Speaker 2 (30:15):
WON'T i won't be you could see you. Could but
you could do the nine hot dogs.
Speaker 4 (30:18):
Too the hot, dogs the, Beers, yes the hot. Dogs
i've never had to do anything like.
Speaker 2 (30:23):
THAT i think.
Speaker 4 (30:24):
So AND i have to see how big the hot dog.
Speaker 2 (30:26):
Is, YEAH i think that would start to get really,
gross like like aning.
Speaker 4 (30:31):
Six, yeah COULD i trade more beers for the hot
for hot?
Speaker 2 (30:35):
Dogs you have to do nine, beers nine hot.
Speaker 4 (30:37):
DOGS i hope nobody was trying it last. Night that
would have been an.
Speaker 2 (30:40):
Adventure, oh they couldn't have done.
Speaker 3 (30:43):
It, yeah eighteen the person did it that you, know
how far are they gonna? Gone but they still going to.
Speaker 2 (30:48):
GONE i mean they were thinking about doing it for
a doubleheader and they could Have, jackie go, Ahead.
Speaker 9 (30:55):
Jackie, hey, GUYS i wanted to talk a little bit And,
MATT i need your advice on something about another part
of football that nobody really thinks. About SO i run
a nonprofit for a softball facility in B, sales and
it took us a year to get on the docket
(31:17):
to work A kentucky football, game and we finally do
and it's A Tennessee tech.
Speaker 6 (31:23):
Game.
Speaker 9 (31:23):
Oh, Now i'm supposed to bring twenty people to work
concessions and we're supposed to get a portion of this concession.
Money i'm gonna have more people in the concession stand than.
Speaker 8 (31:34):
Are in the.
Speaker 2 (31:35):
Stand, yeah that's bad. Luck i'm sorry about. That that's bad.
LUCK i, MEAN i don't, KNOW i, MEAN i don't
know what to tell you BECAUSE i don't think there's
gonna be anything that will change. That but that's really bad,
luck because you, know you were excited to do. It
be a good. Fundraiser BUT i don't know. WHAT i
don't think we're going to have a great. Crowd the
only WAY i could See Tennessee tech being a great
(31:56):
crowd is if they Announced stoops is leaving and they
kind of do it as like a send off and
let Every THEN i could see people, going you know,
what let's go give the man a round of applause
for many years of work. Here that's.
Speaker 3 (32:10):
It that's the only way it could. Happen it's Senior,
day so they can maybe have a celebration that, way
kind of promoted one last.
Speaker 2 (32:16):
HURRAH i still don't think that would pack the, stadium
but it would probably do better than if you. DIDN'T i,
Agree But i'm, Sorry. Jackie that.
Speaker 9 (32:23):
Stinks, YEAH i just don't know what to. Do it's
just hard because it was the one game that we.
Speaker 2 (32:31):
Got, yeah well you, CAN'T i, mean you can't not show,
up so you got to take. It, WELL i will
tell anybody that goes to go buy concessions.
Speaker 6 (32:39):
From, You oh, well thank, You.
Speaker 9 (32:42):
MATT i appreciate, it.
Speaker 2 (32:43):
Thank, you appreciate. It there you.
Speaker 3 (32:45):
Go because that's usually a good fundraiser for organizations and
groups and teams to be able to do a game like.
That you get stuck with that, Game.
Speaker 2 (32:52):
I'll go buy.
Speaker 4 (32:53):
Something you, Will we should all go be one of
a handful of people.
Speaker 2 (32:57):
There i'll send you something to buy for someone.
Speaker 3 (32:59):
Else maybe one of our football players will leave at.
Halftime it does.
Speaker 4 (33:04):
Think think she mentioned being senior. DAY i, mean it's
gonna stink the. Animosities i've said this for ten. Years
part of this is ON. Uk you gotta stop scheduling
those games at the end of the. Year you've got
to stop scheduling a game that nobody wants to happen
as your last home. Game nobody wants to See kentucky
Play Tennessee Tech, nobody. Nobody if you're gonna do, that
(33:27):
do it the first or second game of the, year
when we're. Excited do not do it at the last.
Game y'all are asking for this situation when you do.
Speaker 3 (33:35):
This what's the what's the? Thinking try to break up
the tough part tailing it is take a game off
before The louisville game or.
Speaker 2 (33:43):
Something and a lot OF sec teams are doing, it
AND i think it's. NONSENSE i think it's just complete
nonsense to play that game that late of the. Year,
Hey Big Blue Nation basketball's. Back you got your pregame.
Routine but here's something else to add from going around
the lobby taking a, shower also get a skin. Check
Yucky Skin Cancer center is the most trusted name in
the region for diagnosing and curing skin. Cancer, Glasgow, Franklin, Bowling, Green,
(34:06):
owensboro And. Powderly it's The Kentucky Skin Cancer. Center it's
a great. Place they're, compassionate they'll help, you and they'll
make sure that you can rest easy that your skin is.
Good go to The Kentucky Skin Cancer center two seven
oh eight four to, two nineteen ninety. Nine it's The
Kentucky Skin Cancer center where you're not just a, patient your.
Family we'll take a. Break Rry BACK'S ksar welcome back
(34:29):
in His Kentucky Sports RADIO a five nine two eight
oh twenty two eighty SEVEN texta sheied seven seven two
seven seven four five two five. Four let me give
you a little plug for my. Podcast interrupted By Matt
jones this week's. Episode Uh Gnome. Weisman he has a
podcast Called Unpacking Israeli. HISTORY i got him to come
on and talk about The Israel palestine situation and whether
(34:52):
or not the peace can. Hold what's interesting is that's
an area of politics THAT i don't know a lot.
About it's part of WHY i had a he's in
my fellowship. Group we're, friends. Right the amount of Responses
i've gotten to it have been. Fascinating some people love,
it some people very, angry some people like very happy it.
(35:14):
IS i don't want to say it's the most, polarizing
but it's close in terms of like people just have
such strong, opinions and it's interesting to me someone who
doesn't know a ton about. It so it's interesting to
watch people have strong opinions about something THAT i don't
have a strong opinion. On and so For i'm gonna
(35:35):
have someone who's on the kind Of palestinian side of
things on as. Well but just something for people that
they might. Enjoy, well that's that's why you do. This
you should listen to. It see if you.
Speaker 3 (35:44):
Understand, well are the nig guy youre getting?
Speaker 5 (35:47):
Ready to?
Speaker 3 (35:47):
Me he was asking all kinds of questions about your.
Podcast he was wanting to kind of know about. It
what's it about? It is it just A i don't
know IF i like you being the Spoken Oh Drew
drew handled, That.
Speaker 4 (35:55):
OKAY i, said you have a lot of interest outside
Of kentucky, sports and that's your platform for, that and
people know what they're getting.
Speaker 2 (36:01):
Into one person, rights what percentage Chance Andy basher is
the next president of The United? States? Lo? TWO i,
mean because, like first of, all it's like fifty to
fifty The democrat Or republican. Wins so start with, that
and then it's like one of the chances he gets
(36:21):
The democratic, nominee AND i would say like three or four.
Percent so then split it in half and it's like two.
PERCENT i feel like that's a good, number, right two? Percent,
YEAH i mean that's a higher percentage than we. Have
maybe might go. Three you're going up to? Three, yeah all,
right so you're saying, three just do him a.
Speaker 4 (36:39):
Math, Yeah i'll go to carry, that. Yep, three all,
right you're going. Three what about?
Speaker 3 (36:43):
You i'm gonna go two point?
Speaker 2 (36:44):
Five two point? Five, yeah all, right two point five.
Speaker 3 (36:47):
Three so here's the, question do you, think maybe not this,
term but maybe in the future he could be? President
does your percentage go up in it?
Speaker 2 (36:54):
ALL i think you just have a really hard time
with The democratic Private LIKE i think IT'S i think
it's very hard for someone liked him to win a
democratic problems in a red. State but you never. KNOW i,
mean things can. Change if you had asked me in twenty,
thirteen what are the Chances Donald trump would be?
Speaker 4 (37:11):
PRESIDENT i would have said zero point. One and then
he was so, like you never.
Speaker 3 (37:16):
Know, Right i'm voting For andy if he. Runs he's
got my, vote all.
Speaker 2 (37:20):
Right so now he's up to one to one. Percent all, right.
There you don't count as a whole, percent, okay you
just you count as, one one, vote one, person rights.
MAD i think it's really strange that you root Against
arkansas in. GAMES i root For Cal perry every time he,
coaches as long as it's not against. Us, YEAH i
think that's. STRANGE i don't know how many fans do?
(37:41):
You how many can take you fans out? There you
think root actively For cal In arkansas that aren't friends With,
cal that don't have a personal relationship with? It are
there five? MANY i, mean Maybe i'm. Wrong if you
do write, me just just write the text machine seven
seven two seven seven four five two five four do
you For? ARKANSAS i can understand having no, opinion BUT
(38:05):
i don't understand those who would actively root because it
only hurts our program if he does.
Speaker 3 (38:10):
Well you, know When tubby went left and went To,
MINNESOTA i was. Different it was rooted For tubby At.
Speaker 2 (38:16):
MINTON i did. Too that's different to.
Speaker 3 (38:18):
Me cal going to a conference rival At. Arkansas, OKAY
i Think tubby's. DIFFERENT i did do because he wasn't in. Conference,
yeah we kind of wanted him to. GO i, MEAN
i guess we kind of Wanted cal to go to
but it was. Different he's not in our. Conference tubby
wasn't gonna talk trash about.
Speaker 2 (38:34):
Us, Yeah tubby didn't, say like the game, continues just
a different. Location you, know.
Speaker 4 (38:43):
For, me it's Very maybe If calid gone To, minnesota
maybe it's. Different It's. Arkansas they're on the, schedule they're
trying to get ahead of us in. SEATING i, mean
they're literally a rival in the conference and have been
for a long. TIME i want them to lose every. Game, Yeah,
steve go, Ahead Steve.
Speaker 2 (38:59):
Lorning.
Speaker 8 (38:59):
Guy so what benefit DID uk gain From stupents's?
Speaker 7 (39:03):
CONTRACT i, mean he can leave it anytime without.
Speaker 6 (39:05):
Penalty the university has locked him to a forty million dollar.
Speaker 2 (39:08):
Commitment is this the.
Speaker 7 (39:10):
Worst structured contract in sports.
Speaker 2 (39:12):
HISTORY i don't know about sports, history but it's the.
Worst in appreciate the. Call it's the worst ONE i
can think of WITH, uk because you're, right he could
have still. Left we locked him in without locking him.
In so the answer to the question is we kept
him from leaving in, theory but if he could still,
LEAVE i do think it WAS i we will rue
(39:36):
the day That Mitch barnhardt signed the deal to pay
the buyout up, front and one of these days he
is going to have to answer that. Question he cannot
hide forever from answering that. QUESTION i don't expect him
to answer it right now because he can't say Like
i'm bringing him. Back i'm. Not but one Day i'm
going to ask him the question on the, air how
did you sign a contract where the buyout was due at?
(39:59):
Once AND i don't know what he's going to be
able to say to defend, them And i'm gonna. Ask
you have to be. Asked it has to be. Asked
the buyout number is, huge but there are a lot
of those out, there but we're the only one that
said it's due within sixty.
Speaker 3 (40:17):
That, yes, yeah having a boy out in a contract not,
unusual and you.
Speaker 2 (40:20):
Got if You're Mitch, bernhard you got duped on. That
you got duped you. DID i mean if If Brian
kelly didn't have to sign, that then neither did The Mark. Stoo.
Speaker 3 (40:29):
Yeah, right even going back to that day when they
were five and oh just Be, florida.
Speaker 2 (40:34):
That's still you still didn't have to do. That didn't
have to do. That, jim go, Ahead.
Speaker 10 (40:38):
Jim, Yeah I'm ryan's age And, RYAN i, think whatever
you want to do to make yourself, happy do. It
but if you're going to do this or you've got
to eat by, yourself how about Make matt when he
goes to A reds game not Read cosmopolitan Or The
