This is Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Now
here's Matt Jones.
Speaker 3 (00:36):
Welcome everyone. It is Kentucky Sports Radio. What Monday, November
the seventeenth boom is that right here? Live in Orchard Park,
New York, just a little bit south of Buffalo, in
a wonderful neighborhood where we last night got to go
to the Buffalo Bills game and had an amazing day.
(00:59):
You can give us down on the clocks pumpingshophone line.
That's eight five nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven.
A Vision Auto glass text machine is seven seven two
seven seven four five two five four. And this diition
sponsored by the TJ. Smith Office. If you call TJ,
he'll make them pay. It has been a great weekend here.
We There's been a lot that's happened. We had a
foot basketball game Friday, we had a football game Saturday,
(01:22):
and then we drove to Buffalo. We were here, went
to Buffalo Bill's Tampa Bay game on Sunday, and now
we will drive home today. I'm sitting here with Drew
Franklin and Billy R. Sports or as we now call him,
Billy R Veggie Uh. And it is gonna be Uh.
We're gonna be a fun weekend. We got so much
we can talk about. So it's hard to know where
(01:44):
to start. The basketball team rolls against Eastern Illinois, the
football team rolls against Tennessee Tech, and then, of course
what happened yesterday, and we know where to start, Drew,
I mean, we could kind of go through the timeline.
Speaker 4 (01:58):
Where where do you think is the way to get
I mean, I'm most excited to talk Buffalo, but if
you want to go chronologically, that would make sense to
the basketball win. Basketball needed a good taste after the
events earlier in the week so well.
Speaker 3 (02:10):
I also would say to you, if you haven't yet listened,
the timeline or the podcast feed has a lot of
good material from the weekend. Okay, so you've got you
got the basketball postgame show Friday night, you got the
football postgame show from Geneva, Ohio on Saturday, and then
(02:31):
you got Cover zero which came out last night. And
I would suggest listening to all of those because I
think you'd get kind of a timeline of the trip.
Speaker 4 (02:38):
Which of the Cover zero football postgame show talked more
actual football because they were both limited in their exis.
I mean the Football Player.
Speaker 3 (02:49):
We went into a little of the NFL. I'm not
sure how much the Tennessee Tech game we really talked about.
This good show. Yeah, I mean it makes sense to
talk about football and basketball. But I do think we
have to start with Billy Suitcase, because I do think
that ultimately that's gonna be the thing that people take
away the most from this trip, Like this was your
first road trip. First of all, forty eight hours on
the road with us, you've never gotten to go because
(03:12):
of various reasons, mostly you're almost too valuable to leave
because of all your studio ability have you enjoyed it.
Let's start with that. I have.
Speaker 5 (03:21):
It has surpassed my expectations. I've heard horror stories in
the past from Shannon the dude I think.
Speaker 3 (03:26):
But that's just because Shannon is like he just he
just wants. Like Shannon, most people would love to be
paid to drive around bed.
Speaker 2 (03:35):
They would love to sleep.
Speaker 3 (03:36):
Yeah, but most people would love to drive around the
I mean people who work. This is this is the
only part Shannon I think is very tuned into the
common person. I give him a lot of credit for that,
maybe more so than most people in the show. But
the thing that Shannon always gets wrong is the complain
about these road trips. Most people would do who have
regular jobs, would do anything to get paid to drive
(03:56):
around the country and watch games. Yeah right, but even
wins about it.
Speaker 2 (04:01):
And if we went a direct line, I.
Speaker 3 (04:03):
Would be there. It's not about a straight line. Most
people would be fine to go in circles. This is
the only time I think you really are disconnected with
the average person. But Billy, you I think appreciated a
little bit more. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (04:16):
Absolutely, you know, I'm stuck in that studio so long
that it's nice to see and talk to you. Guys
in person and at a different events and things like that.
You know, it helps that it was only a one
day trip. We're not driving to Seattle. I think that
was a big part of it. But you splurged on
the nice Airbnb.
Speaker 3 (04:31):
It's a really nice AIRBBB. I mean, this is probably drew.
If you're talking about where we've stayed. This is top end.
Wouldn't you think, Yeah, I know, those we're spending the
NFL's money. Let's be real, the NFL will spend more
money than I are. That's just kind of how it is.
Speaker 4 (04:44):
Big budget for a two day trip, ye normally eight
and even I know.
Speaker 3 (04:48):
To give me an example, I get five thousand dollars
for the week to go to Seattle and back. We
had five thousand dollars just to come to Buffalo for
two days. There's a little bit of a difference in budget.
Speaker 4 (05:00):
And even though Billy is appreciative, I will say that
this is being Billy's first that's no ordinary bunk get
up through. That's like a king sized bunk bed. You
did get the luxury trip. Everybody got their own room.
That doesn't usually happen. My first couple of trips, every
night that just wasn't a bed and you just had
to figure it out to stand up.
Speaker 3 (05:16):
Yeah. So, but but really, I think this trip surprisingly
has been centered around you and your experience more than
I would have thought. I mean, this is Drew and I.
I thought we would be us on the NFL getting
to work for the NFL. This really, this trip was
made Shannon the day he got in the car in
my house at my house ready to go, and he
(05:38):
brought out a veggie tray. It was a surprise shann
into everyone.
Speaker 2 (05:43):
But I know you guys are normally normally eating a
nerd gummy clusters, and then he brings in the healthy
part of it.
Speaker 3 (05:49):
He's got he brings in a veggie tray. He brings
in broccoli, celery, carrots, and from then on it was
just on. It was the car smelled like broccoli the
rest of the trip, which is not a it's not
a pleasant smell. Yeah, and uh, that was an interesting
(06:09):
decision by you.
Speaker 5 (06:11):
Well, look, I mean, I I'm somebody that doesn't eat
a ton of processed foods.
Speaker 3 (06:15):
I want to keep you that was processed vegetables, Those
were not those were packass.
Speaker 5 (06:19):
Well, look, regardless, it's it's good to eat your vegetables.
Speaker 2 (06:22):
Uh.
Speaker 5 (06:23):
You know, when you have a twenty dollars week paycheck,
you got to get those two for six vegetable trays.
Speaker 4 (06:27):
And uh, I am.
Speaker 5 (06:29):
Very surprised where you guys reaction to the veggie trade.
I mean, that was something you guys ate. All of
all the carrots were gone very quickly. So I mean
I feel like you were talking out both sides of
your mouth a little bit there this weekend.
Speaker 3 (06:39):
It was not no, no, no, no. It was not that.
It was first of all, it was considerate to bring anything.
Dre it doesn't bring anything, did he?
Speaker 4 (06:45):
No, not all, And he said it right there in
the middle.
Speaker 3 (06:48):
Help yourselves. It was one of these no good deeds
go unpunished because the moment it happens. First of all,
don't blame me. They did it. And I did not
tweet anything.
Speaker 4 (07:00):
Okay, I tweeted, hand up, I tweeted it. I did
not expect over one hundred replies in two hundred thousand
views and just turning into a full rum.
Speaker 3 (07:07):
I didn't do anything. I was going to give you
a hard time about it, but I didn't realize the
public was going to have such a visceral reaction to it.
Speaker 5 (07:14):
Yeah, they act like they don't ever eat broccoli or
something like. I mean, I thought it was delightful.
Speaker 3 (07:20):
First of all, you use words like delightful. That's that's
not a word that gets used a lot on this show. Delightful.
Speaker 5 (07:26):
Well, neither is the suitcase that I brought.
Speaker 3 (07:28):
But really the crowning achievement was the suitcase Billy brought.
And if you if you listen to Postgame show, we
get into more detail on it. But it was a
hard shell, plastic case suitcase that I thought. I thought
when Bill Clinton became president they took all of those
out of commission. I thought they basically just said, okay,
(07:48):
this was a good era.
Speaker 2 (07:50):
It's like then extinct.
Speaker 3 (07:52):
It was like the penny that's exactly right. They were like, Okay,
it's had a good run, we're moving on. But Billy
brought it back, the hardcore plastic suitcase. As one person said,
it's historic. It survived the sinking of the Titanic. I mean,
it was from a different generation that I think is
(08:14):
what really set the Internet on fire. Was your orange
interesting color too orange, hard plastic suitcase.
Speaker 5 (08:21):
Well, there's not a lot of wear and tear on
it either, so you know that thing is going to
be around much longer than we are. It works well,
got all my clothes in it.
Speaker 3 (08:30):
Probably have some sort of carcinogen that will give you
give you a disease.
Speaker 5 (08:35):
Easy access if I want to put my cigarettes in there.
It's practical.
Speaker 3 (08:40):
It worked, and the Internet just took off with it.
I mean, the picture of Billy with his orange suitcase
will be the thing that lives the longest on this trip.
Speaker 4 (08:50):
And then Mario didn't do him any favors when he
put the old man. They're like doing the exact same post.
I don't know how you found that photo, but it's
like it Billy fifty years.
Speaker 5 (08:57):
Ago photoshot Mario in the car in minutes after this
was done, comparing me to the nineteen twenties.
Speaker 3 (09:03):
Man, I like, you know, I'm big on in KSR
the rivalries, and you know there's been there's been a
big Billy Shannon rivalry over the years. There's sort of
an alpha of the pre show rivalry. You both kind
of talk trash about the other one when they're not there,
and but you still like each other. But there's a
new emerging Billy Mario rivalry. I think Billy. I think
(09:27):
Billy does not like that Mario. I think he thinks
Mario takes h gives him. I think he understands you
and I are gonna give me mart time. But he
doesn't like when Mario does things like that. And there's
a I think Billy thinks there's a pecking order. He
and Shannon are kind of fighting for spot four, but
when Mario ever jumps to spot for that really makes
(09:48):
Billy mad. And I think this was an example of that.
Speaker 5 (09:51):
Mario mcribb over here sin.
Speaker 3 (09:53):
He tries to shift it, he tries to shift it
over on to Mario, and I like I like watching that.
Speaker 2 (09:59):
Well.
Speaker 4 (09:59):
Last night, the three of us stayed up pretty late
playing pool, and we might have enjoyed a couple of beers.
And they're tired, they're trash talking started getting intense and
at one point I'm standing leaning on the kitchen counter
and I put my stick out and separated them. I
was like, you on this side, you on that side.
Speaker 3 (10:14):
These two have some These two have some heat. Billy
and Mario. It has been brewed, trip, it has been brewed.
There is definitely a Billy Mario.
Speaker 4 (10:25):
But I will say to each other, but there's a
lot of back and forth at the pool table.
Speaker 3 (10:27):
I'm gonna say this, Billy, I think you're overall sort
of on the ks R pecking order. Like if approval rating,
I think it's been improved this weekend. I think the
general fan has grown some affinity for you this week.
They always saw you as that kind of hardcore, always mad,
(10:49):
hanging up on Heather, you know that one, that one,
that one sets you back a little bit. This has
been the equivalent for you of the Theo Vaughn interview
for Trump, right, Like, this is helping you approval rating
a little bit, and I think I think you should
be happy about this. The plastic suitcase and the veggie tray.
I think especially women are like they kind of feel
bad for you, and I think that's helping. Okay, I do.
Speaker 4 (11:14):
And I think if if it was just the suitcase
or just the broccoli, we'd keep making funny.
Speaker 3 (11:19):
But he's not combination.
Speaker 4 (11:20):
But then you also, I mean Paul out a little
bit here, but he was very dressed up for the game.
Speaker 3 (11:25):
Okay, so let's talk about the dressed up thing.
Speaker 4 (11:27):
That's everything was complimentary with Billy.
Speaker 3 (11:30):
Let me just say Billy, the veggie tray and the
plastic suitcase. I think we were reasonable ways to make
fun of you. I do think you got a raw
deal on the dressing for the bills, So Shannon, he
dressed really well, actually, Like whereas me and Drew had
and Mario had on hoodies kind of our regular look,
(11:50):
Billy had on a pea coat. I complimented that for
he had on a pea coat. He had on a
quarter zip. He had nice pants and dress shoes. I
thought he looked really good. And you know, I'll give
Billy a hard time over anything, but I genuinely thought
he looked really good. He looked like a guy who
was dressing for the job he wants, not necessarily the job.
What's he wanted?
Speaker 2 (12:11):
The GM job?
Speaker 3 (12:12):
I think he'd like to be. I mean, let me,
you tell me wrong, you'd love to be like an
NFL reporter like Jeff Darlington was there. You started geeking
out a little bit. You'd like to be Jeff Darlington.
Is that fair? No?
Speaker 4 (12:23):
Hold on, I got the Tampa I don't even know
his name, but Billy bline and talk to Rick Stroud.
Speaker 3 (12:29):
Yeah, you kind of you were geeking out a little
bit the way Mario did with Kevin Harlan at the
NCAA tournament. You kind of were like that with these
NFL look.
Speaker 5 (12:38):
I was in my element. I mean, I got Darlington's number.
Speaker 3 (12:40):
He's yet I think you want it to be your.
Speaker 5 (12:44):
Out Well, yeah, like you said, you dressed for the job.
You want off the one that you have. My shoes
took way too many shots online.
Speaker 3 (12:50):
So we post the picture of all of us, and
I think, objectively, you look better than all of us.
I think you look the most professional of all of us.
Hip people just went at you, specifically your shoes, because
one person said you look like they're Dick van Dyke's shoes,
which Sennon is a funny lot to be great. He
(13:11):
said he looked like Dick van Dyke, who you didn't
even know who that was.
Speaker 5 (13:15):
I didn't know who it was, but I knew I
could feel it through the tweet that it was not
felt the tone.
Speaker 2 (13:23):
Billy's pants. He's even got like slacks on.
Speaker 3 (13:26):
They're ironed, they have a pleat. I mean, they're very nice.
So I just want to say, I feel like that
making fun of you for the outfit I think isn't
fair because I actually think you've dressed really well for
the game. But the combination of the plastic suitcase and
the and the veggies and then the Dick Van Dyke shoes,
(13:47):
it's just been it's a whole personality.
Speaker 5 (13:49):
So let me go back for a second. You think
my approval rating has gone up because people feel bad?
Speaker 3 (13:53):
Yes, I do. I do, genuinely. I think there is
a sympathy. But I think that's good because I think
you had no sympathy. It's a charm because because everyone
that's involved with his show has had vulnerability. Okay, Like
I've had health issues, right, I've been fired. Ryan has
had his issues in his personal life. Drew lost a
friend recently, you know, Shannon lost which was your grandmother's
(14:16):
name that you nanny Nanny. So we've all had these
issues where we've shown vulnerability. You've really never had that,
Like when you're on the air, you're always being mean
to somebody. You hate kids, you know. So I think
this was the first time people got to see a
softer side of Billy.
Speaker 5 (14:34):
And what did you guys think? I mean, you spent
time off the air with you.
Speaker 3 (14:36):
I like you, I find you. I think the role
you have taken in this whole cover zero the new
it's the news. I think it's a good role for you,
don't you.
Speaker 4 (14:49):
And to the thing about him wanting the job, we
were were we the first three people to check in.
I mean we were there very early in the press
we were. And then like he's already networking as people
are walking in like that mp A guy, even just
the media people working at the Bill, Billy was was
clocked in to take advantage of this opportunity to make
the most of it.
Speaker 3 (15:06):
I think, first of all, you've done a great job
with all these extra gigs, but I think you have
now found a roll, and I think it's gonna be
plastic suitcase stick bands like shoot guy.
Speaker 4 (15:16):
Well now the internet's doing more of them. Come on
at keV Miller seven.
Speaker 3 (15:21):
They've got you working as a train boarder.
Speaker 4 (15:25):
That one's just gonna have to stick, Billy, somebody.
Speaker 3 (15:27):
I think it's just gonna stick. I think you're just
gonna have to let it go.
Speaker 4 (15:30):
We got you back on the outfit. I even complimented, I.
Speaker 3 (15:33):
Thought you looked good on the outfit.
Speaker 4 (15:35):
Well, if I mean Mario didn't pack a coat and
we were tailgating a thirty degree weather.
Speaker 5 (15:39):
That's true, and he gets a zero criticism online for anything.
Speaker 3 (15:46):
I'm gonna get it's four five two five four. We
will talk about the games. Uh, and if you have comments,
I'm gonna read all the funny ones because there were
some good ones on the post game show. We'll be
right back. This is Kazak, welcome back in his Kentucky
sports radio. If I'm nine two twenty two eighty seven.
(16:06):
By the way, the couple of you writing saying why
don't you get to the games? This obviously this you
this may not be the show for you. I'm just
gonna tell you. We're on the road. If you've never
been a part of KSR road trip shows, this is
this is what's gonna be on our way to Saint
John's here in a few weeks. Like that's just that's
just what it is. What person writes, Uh, Matt Billy
dressed and took a suitcase as if he wanted to
(16:28):
work for Don Draper at the mad Men advertising.
Speaker 5 (16:32):
If I'm known for being well dressed, eating vegetables and
taking my job seriously, I'll uh.
Speaker 3 (16:38):
Yeah, exactly what's there to be? What's gonna be embarrassed?
Speaker 5 (16:41):
About right now. Yeah, the style could get a little better.
Speaker 4 (16:45):
I want to look at it.
Speaker 3 (16:46):
I actually think your style was your best part of
your I like that somebody put our uh somebody put
our pictures up with what social media it was? He was,
Mario was TikTok through his Twitter. I was Facebook. I
don't feel like that's and you were linked in, which
I think that's probably true. All right, so let's talk
(17:06):
a little bit about we will talk about a couple
of the sport events. Let's talk about basketball. Kentucky runs
over Eastern Illinois was like twelve to two right off
to start, never never a game. Good to see them
play well, good to see them score easily to start
the game, play defense. I mean, I don't know how
much you get out of Eastern Illinois, but they did
(17:27):
exactly what you would want them to do, right Yeah.
Speaker 4 (17:29):
Yeah, I mean it doesn't erase the Louisville game, but
you needed to go out and pumble somebody to just
get back on track. That's what they did. Diabat had
a huge game, had like twenty and eleven or twelve. Yeah,
just all around great performance. As you you know, with
that cloud of low still having over them, It's good
to see them go out and play a game.
Speaker 3 (17:46):
You just wanted to get out there and see them
hit their peaks. Thee Aberdeen run the point to me,
there was nothing to complain about, which is why I
think so many people focused on Pope's postgame comments. You know,
do you feel like the U of L. I mean,
part of this is, I know, when we say will
things stick, part of it depends on what we keep
(18:08):
talking about it. So I understand that, like it's a
little bit hard to say, well it will or it
won't stick, because we actually probably control some of that unfortunately.
But you know, we still don't know what happened after
the U of L lockerroom, he and then Pope comes out.
He makes some weird Taylor Swift reference which I didn't
really understand about. You know, we're gonna keep people guessing.
(18:30):
And then he when he got on the radio, he
addressed a little bit more. He said that the way
they do things is they get people worked up, they
get their game ready by flipping the switch and turning
on the energy. And he said, maybe we flipped it
too early, an hour and a half early. I still
don't really know what that means. And I still don't
really think it answers the question. But what do you.
Speaker 4 (18:50):
Think his three press conferences counting like radio with a
rub and then the two press conferences Littleville. I think
it's been very weird. I've even like texted friends like
that was weird. Yeah, I think it's obvious this point
he didn't have him ready. I mean, we knew that
when we watched the game, but now he's even admitting
that they just they weren't ready for a rivalry game.
But I just think it's so weird that he's like
(19:11):
teasing this story, even said something to the crowd and
rup like I might do this from time to time,
throw something out there and let you all miss speculate,
Like you can't do that.
Speaker 3 (19:19):
Don't do that.
Speaker 4 (19:20):
That's a that's a bad idea, especially in a week
you just got what by Louisville. Yeah, like people want
some answers and have some concerns about it.
Speaker 3 (19:26):
Yeah, I mean I think anytime you're you're screwing around
with the fan base, you're making a mistake, unless it's
like like if you beat Louisville and you want to
screw around with them, that's fine. But when you lose
to Louisville. I just think that's a mistake. I mean,
everyone I've talked with, that's what they want to know.
What happened in the locker room. What happened in the
locker room. And I think you're gonna keep getting that.
(19:47):
And if you were to lose tomorrow night to Michigan State,
then the what happened in the locker room is going
to be like I didn't ruin the season in the
locker room and as and and he said it's not
as big a deal as everybody acts like, which I
I'm sure is true. But that's why you don't do this,
because people are gonna speculate and think it's probably worse
than it is.
Speaker 4 (20:07):
Yeah, I'm even though I don't know anything, I'm convinced
that if we ever found out, we wo'd be like,
that's it. You did all that, and that's what it was.
So the well, I think fans are fair and worrying
because we still talk about team turmoil twenty yes water yeah,
and problems with that Oscar team. We don't want a
team that we love to have problems on November eleventh,
you know.
Speaker 3 (20:26):
And the tough part is like now I mean, we're
hearing so much stuff and we and even me, like,
I don't totally know what to believe. I mean, there
are there are now like six different stories floating out there,
and that's the problem. And I don't know which one.
I mean, I know the couple that I think, like, like,
I've heard some ridiculous ones, like I do not believe
(20:47):
that there was a religious argument in the argument before
like that that one is online that the players got
into a fight about religion before the game. How in
the world and it seems like that one is what
people believe online. How could they believe that? You really
think there was an argument about about God in the
locker room before the gap at the Louis, Like that's
(21:07):
when they decided to do it. By the way, we're
about to walk out there. Which book of the Bible
do you think is that? Like you that couldn't have
Like that was that's not that could have? No, I
I do think one that's that I think is that
maybe And I wish you would just say this. There
is some talk out there that Mark Pope was uncharacteristic
(21:29):
in the locker room and it threw the guys off.
Maybe taking it almost so seriously that people were like, Yo, dude,
what who's this guy? And that one is starting to
pick up some steam, And that's one I think could
be right. It would make because it would explain everything else.
(21:49):
It would explain why Jaylen Lowe and those guys were
getting into it with the fans, you know, it would explain.
It would explain a lot, and it kind of hinted
at he took the blame himself. Remember, was like, I
did this too quickly. That to me, of all the
explanations is the one that actually makes the most sense
to me.
Speaker 4 (22:07):
Yeah, I mean, he's coached a lot of games here
in that one one season already, but that was his
first I'm going into Louisville, Yeah road rivalry game, it's
the third game of the year. The way I'm just
taking everything in and running through my filter, it seems
that he did just not have them right all the
situation at all, maybe called out.
Speaker 3 (22:23):
Some guys that were like, why are you calling me
out like like that? To me, Billy, seems like that
makes some sense.
Speaker 5 (22:29):
Now, what do you think is more likely now that
it's addressed by Pope or it's never talked about again
by him?
Speaker 3 (22:35):
Well, I mean, I think he could probably get away
with the never talking about it if we beat Michigan
State and we go on around. But if we start losing,
he's gonna be talking about it all year.
Speaker 4 (22:43):
Peoplere gonna worry about Locker we were.
Speaker 3 (22:44):
Gonna worry about like like you know, if we beat
Michigan State and then we beat Caroline or whatever, then yeah,
he could probably not talk about it. But if we
start losing, he's not gonna be able to not talk
about it.
Speaker 5 (22:56):
We'll talk about it forever.
Speaker 3 (22:57):
So we'll see. I think it was a bad mist
We'll take a break through some football.
Speaker 2 (23:02):
TJ Smith, personal injury attorney called TJ.
Speaker 3 (23:05):
He'll make them pay.
Speaker 2 (23:06):
Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Here's Matt Jones.
Speaker 3 (23:11):
The song would be better for this if it was
a plastic bag, but still a good pick. Yeah, I
think I appreciate what person writes Matt. I'm actually Billy's
my favorite now because he doesn't care what other people think.
That's not true. You're having to get used to getting
these comments like Drew and I we've gotten these for
twenty years, but you you haven't gotten the sort of
(23:33):
hard takes, like you have this one. You're having to
get used to it in real time.
Speaker 5 (23:37):
Yes, but I can take it mentally now Like when
I first started, I would read everything and take it personally.
Now i've you know, you're doing this for content. I
can talk to the bigger scheme of things, bigger pictures.
Speaker 3 (23:48):
Yeah, it is hard, like you forget we forget that.
Like people are mean, you know, I mean they are.
They're not like they're giving you a hard time on this,
but some people are like people give me me. You know.
People have been mean to the girl Olivia who's done
videos for us, because they could just keep saying she's
a little fan, which she was. Then she went to UK,
(24:10):
so now she's a Kentucky fan. But like people are
people are in like She's like, people are like, She's like,
why are people me?
Speaker 1 (24:17):
Like?
Speaker 3 (24:18):
Are most ninety nine percent of our fans are great?
But we have a percent of fans who are just mean.
And I don't know why they do that. Now on
this case though, with the plastic suitcase, they should be me.
Speaker 5 (24:28):
Well, you just wait till I brust out the chart
couterie board in the car today.
Speaker 3 (24:33):
One person rights Billy looks like he's ready to jump
out of the plane with dB Cooper.
Speaker 4 (24:38):
If we checked the inside that bag cut up in
the fabric, probably some stuff that might be one of those.
Speaker 5 (24:44):
It is like, I don't know, vintage was the word
that I used. There's colaps in there and like weird pockets.
Speaker 3 (24:51):
Speaking of vintage, Mikah Johnson. Oh yeah, if I told
you that Micah Johnson was still playing football, shit, would
you have believed it?
Speaker 2 (25:01):
No?
Speaker 3 (25:02):
Well he is. He won his third Canadian Gray Cup
this weekend. Thirty seven years old. He is a five
time All CFL team including this year. He's the eighth
oldest player that wasn't a kicker to play in the
Canadian Football League and he won his third title. Micah Johnson.
(25:24):
Who would have ever imagined Micah Johnson is still playing
football and still I mean feast up. He was played
in the two thousand and seven Music two thousand and
five Music City Bowl.
Speaker 4 (25:37):
He was in high school when I was in high school.
Because he played at Fort Campbell and our team's played,
he's got to be pushing right at forty. I'm a
little older and I'm thirty just turned thirty eight. Yeah, okay, yeah,
I remember watching him at Fort Campbell.
Speaker 3 (25:49):
Like, that's crazy that he still plays.
Speaker 4 (25:51):
So congrats to two thousand and four mister football ish
around there.
Speaker 3 (25:56):
That's probably about I'm.
Speaker 4 (25:57):
Still cashing checks in Canada.
Speaker 3 (25:59):
I mean when I saw that, I was like, this
has to be an old story. But it wasn't.
Speaker 5 (26:03):
He's still playing and not just cashing checks, winning championship
and being.
Speaker 3 (26:06):
All c FL.
Speaker 4 (26:08):
He's gonna be like a CFL. He already is legend.
Speaker 3 (26:12):
By the way, Dick Van Dyke is alive and turns
one hundred years old next month. Man, if Dick Van Dyke,
it'll be your fault. No, it'll be your fault. But
if Dick Van Dyke passes away, it is on you. No, yes,
it's on you. In that suitcase. Football destroyed, uh destroyed.
(26:36):
Tennessee Tech wasn't even a game. Everybody was all worried
all ten and oh they're going to come in? Really
was never closed. They had one good drive the entire game.
That was it. Otherwise Kentucky. Kentucky basically moved the ball
whenever they wanted. You had to like that performance.
Speaker 4 (26:52):
Loved BOLDI would have three incompletions. He's up there high sixties.
I think he's fifth in the SEC and completion percentage
right now. Can Law with a huge game? I wish
we could get more Kendrick Law. Yeah, didn't do much
earn the year they started getting the ball. Think he's
had like game has the last three weeks. He had
over one hundred yards this time. So we just could
seeing that offense role and the defense just kept doing
what it does.
Speaker 3 (27:13):
They were great. I mean they were great. What you
think of the cutter bowlie knocking the guy down while
he was running. Did you like that? Loved it?
Speaker 4 (27:20):
Yeah? We haven't. I guess Levi's had that, but you
don't see that very often from your quarterback. Even Stoops
would like, I don't love that he did it, but
after he did it, that brought up probably don't.
Speaker 3 (27:29):
Want to do it against Tennessee Tech. But you still
got that juiced up the whole team.
Speaker 5 (27:33):
Yeah, you don't want to drop the throwing shoulder too often,
but I think transfer portal players take notice of something
like that. And he is the future of Kentucky. It's
been a fun few weeks with him.
Speaker 3 (27:42):
It has been, and I think, you know, if it
ends up being the case that we have Mark Stoops
as a coach again next year. The reason there might
be any excitement is him, right, I mean, that's gonna
be a big part of it.
Speaker 4 (27:56):
Yes, someone wake up the marketing department this spring and
put him everywhere. You have to fill seats. You cannot
be an SEC team and have a season without a
sellout like they did this year with those teams that
came in. You have to sell tickets, and he's your to.
He's your key to selling tickets.
Speaker 3 (28:09):
I mean, we'll have this talk if he ends up
coming back, but they've got to re like everything they
did this offseason to market the team. They got to
do the oppose because they did a horrible job this year,
just an absolutely horrible job. Now if they get a
second chance at it, and I still don't know that
that's gonna happen. Although I think now he's not gonna
(28:32):
get you know, we've said that five and seven was purgatory.
I still think it's purgatory for the fan base. I
don't think he gets fired at five and seven. But
I also don't think you can just run everything back
the same at five and seven. So like it's you know,
it's kind of a it's a purgatory. But if they
bring him back, they've got to change. You're right, They've
(28:53):
got to change the way they do everything, and Cutter
Bowley will have to be the center of it. He
just will because he is exciting. He's exciting to me.
I mean, I mean, just the kid is so energetic
and and he doesn't make He makes very few bad decisions,
you know. I mean, he'll make one or two here
and there, but in general, I just I really like
him a lot.
Speaker 4 (29:12):
Teammates seem to love him. Yeah, I mean, they'll have
to go all in on him as the face.
Speaker 3 (29:16):
And he won't leave. I'm confident. Now there are guys
we're gonna have to to use a phrase from the past,
pony up to keep He'll be one of them. But
they'll get him. He'll be here next year. I kind
of think, no matter what with.
Speaker 4 (29:32):
Where he finished his high school career and and those
boosters around Lexington, I think any any offer he got
would get matched to keep him home. I mean, we
know how big they were in recruiting of everybody keeping
around within the Nile era, and I don't think the
powers of Lexington would let that kid get out of
the state So let's do.
Speaker 3 (29:49):
A percentage game. Percentage chance we beat either Vandy or
Louisville or both. But but but percent chance we get
one of them and we go to a bowl game.
Billy forty, So less than fifty percent we win one. Correct. Okay, Shannon, I.
Speaker 2 (30:10):
Was gonna go forty. I'll go slightly higher. I'll say
forty five percent forty five.
Speaker 4 (30:15):
Drew, I will say thirty one percent. But I'm I'm still.
Speaker 3 (30:21):
Going less than a third chance we win one of them.
Speaker 4 (30:24):
I feel confident, but we're gonna be more than a
touchdown underdog at both. Okay, on the road, that's still
a big task. But you have already upset Auburn as
an underdog and Florida as an underdog. I'm feeling good
about the Louisville game specifically with that.
Speaker 3 (30:37):
You can't be feeling that good if you think there's
two champions that.
Speaker 4 (30:40):
Look because it's a motivation thing.
Speaker 3 (30:42):
I don't.
Speaker 4 (30:42):
I have not watched one second of woival football this year.
All I know is Miller Moss looks like he's ready
to quit the team. So I'm watching them go with
the wrong direction while we're sitting here talking about our
quarterback and all the juice he has. So when we
get that Louisville game, I think it'll be a big
question of which side wants it and what I've seen
a Louisville lately there in shambles, and I don't all
of you.
Speaker 3 (30:59):
I'm shocked at Shannon's number, because Shannon, you've been the
most positive guy about this team all year. For me.
This number, if you're talking win one of the two,
I'm putting it at sixty. Well, see, I don't win
one of these, yeah, I mean, I mean, look, that's
still a forty percent chance we don't. But you're just
telling me win one of them. I mean I think
(31:20):
we have a shot to win them both game. Yeah,
but I don't. I mean, I know you you're a
Vandy guy, but like we're only a touchdown underdog. I
mean we've been more of a we were more of
an underdog to Florida at home. I mean, like, if
you play this game three weeks ago, we're a seventeen
point underdog to Vandy. It's come down to seven. I
(31:44):
think you just asked me we're gonna win one of
these two games. I will tell you this, if the
team that played against Florida, plays against Vandy, and Louisville
will win one of them. Now if it's the team
that played against South Carolina will lose.
Speaker 4 (31:58):
But with Vandy, I worry about all the injuries on
the defense, we're pretty beat up.
Speaker 3 (32:02):
We are.
Speaker 4 (32:03):
I'm not surrendering to Vandy, bidy means, But of the two,
I feel much better about Louisville.
Speaker 3 (32:08):
Yeah, well, I think Vandy I don't. I don't want
to say Vandy's a paper tiger. I don't believe. I
think they're good. But Auburn almost beat them, you know,
I don't. I don't know. I'm surprised. I thought I thought,
to be quite frank with you, I thought all your
numbers gonna be over fifty. I can't believe I'm the
only one that was over fifty.
Speaker 4 (32:25):
I'm just playing the little There're gonna be more than
a touchdown underdog at both on the road. I'm just
kind of But I think if you.
Speaker 3 (32:30):
Did the math though, of those, it would still be
it might not be fifty. But if you say, well,
if you're a touchdown underdog to both, what are the
changes you win one? It's probably still probably what Billy
said it's probably forty if you did that math, I think.
Speaker 5 (32:43):
I definitely think the Louisville game is more gettable and
there's gonna be a lot of motivation to beat Vince
Merriw in his first year at Louisville. But you know,
if they were to lose.
Speaker 4 (32:50):
About Louisvill's loss by the way, yeah, that's what I'm
talking about. That press conference was wild.
Speaker 3 (32:54):
I mean, Miller Moss blame everyone in U of l
world blames him, and he blames everybody else.
Speaker 4 (33:00):
If you throw the locker room out like that in
a press common, Yeah, look who do they have this week?
I would like them to get like that? Yeah, yeah
they could. They could be in bad shape.
Speaker 5 (33:11):
But if they lose, like if Kentucky were to lose
these last two games, I think how they lose to Louisville,
But that's really important.
Speaker 3 (33:16):
No, I think with both of them, if they lose,
they can't get embarrassed in either of these games. That's
the only way. I mean. I don't think the fan
base is going to be like woo woo regardless if
we lose them both. But if we were to get
embarrassed by one of them, then you're in a really
tough spot so especially the but there is at least
(33:39):
hope in these last two games, which three weeks ago
people would not have thought that was true. Right.
Speaker 4 (33:45):
Oh, there are people on Twitter like I apologize I
was wrong deleting my account, some of the people that
were being the most vicious. It's it's kind of got
a lot of fans confused. They had already checked out completely,
and it's like, wow, this has been kind of fun.
Speaker 3 (33:56):
Last weeks.
Speaker 5 (33:56):
Cataly was get your money up, Garrett.
Speaker 3 (33:59):
That would be amazing if they do win one of
these games. I mean, Calzada will have a completely different
legacy at this school. It's kind of an amazing thing.

I'm bringing them back. That's right. We'll take a break
right back here in Orchard Park. This is Kentucky Sports Radio.
Welcome back Tucky Sports Radio A nine two twenty twenty seven,
text Machine seven SI two seventy seven four five two
(35:01):
five four. New York Post put out a story yesterday saying,
as Dick Van Dyke approaches one hundred worries about his hell, oh.
Speaker 5 (35:09):
No, I'm really worried I brought It's not on me.
Speaker 3 (35:12):
That really got brought up on Saturday.
Speaker 5 (35:14):
Yeah, this is not on me. It's the internet commenter.
Speaker 3 (35:16):
No, it's on you and Billy. It wasn't the internet commentary.
It was when you look like him.
Speaker 5 (35:22):
God forbid, somebody wears dress shoes to an NFL event.
Speaker 2 (35:25):
And murders Dick Van Dyke, Good job. I hope you're
proud of yourself.
Speaker 3 (35:29):
See there's the rivalries. I love the rivalry between these three.
So they didn't used to happen like we didn't have
it there wasn't a Drew Ryan rivalry. No, it's only
it's only this new generation. Although Shannon was here before
both of you. But that's true. But that's okay.
Speaker 5 (35:43):
Oh, I love Mario. I just would like to know
where you got his pants.
Speaker 3 (35:45):
Man. Yeah, there are people crushing your shoes to Mario,
saying you look like they look like you were about
to go frog gigging. But they who were kind of
like work boots. But you know you, guys, I wouldn't
say that tonight on ABC is Monday Night football, but
(36:06):
somebody just sent me a schedule and I won't. You know,
I haven't watched network TV in a long time. I
don't watch a lot of network TV. I mean when
I was a kid, I could have told you what
was on every night of the week on ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC.
Like I could have literally told you their schedules every
night of the week. Now I don't. So let me
just read you what's on besides Monday night football and
(36:28):
see if you know these shows CBS, the Neighborhood, never
heard of it, d m V. That's a show show
starring Tim Meadows.
Speaker 4 (36:39):
Yeah, oh good for Tim. I hadn't heard from Hm
in a while.
Speaker 3 (36:42):
Uh, No, FBI are these government agency? General H Watson,
All right, there's your CBS lineup, and we haven't none
of us. You said you heard of any.
Speaker 2 (36:55):
Of those FBI and d m V. I have heard
of those two.
Speaker 3 (37:00):
Heard of Inyo the guy the Neighborhood Stars. That's the
dude from New Girl. Uh. I don't know who the
rest of these guys are. All right, now let's go
to Uh, let's go to NBC Saint Dennis Medical, never
heard of, never heard of it. The paper now, that's
the one from the Office. I watched the first two
episodes of that on Peacock. I think it's pretty good. However,
(37:22):
I go to the Peacock app. I don't know, but
the paper's pretty good. I like that.
Speaker 5 (37:28):
A lot of commercials have never seen it.
Speaker 3 (37:29):
The Voice, I've heard of the voice. I don't know
that I've ever seen him. So I've heard of the voice.
Uh do you know who the music acts are on
the voice right now? Is it? Uh?
Speaker 5 (37:39):
Themuron five singer?
Speaker 3 (37:40):
Still yes, Reba McIntyre Snoop Dog. But he doesn't sing?
Why's he on the voice? So he's a judge?
Speaker 2 (37:49):
Yeah, entertainment, that's why he was on there.
Speaker 3 (37:51):
Finally brilliant minds. Oh that's old right, all right, how
about this? I'm Fox didn't know either of these shows
on the air. Celebrity name that tune, never heard of it.
It stars Randy Jackson. That's a no for me. Dog
and the woman, the blonde woman from thirty Rock Jane
(38:15):
some and then celebrity weakest link.
Speaker 4 (38:20):
Link still around.
Speaker 5 (38:21):
You're the weakest link.
Speaker 3 (38:23):
But it's not. It's nothing star her. This looks to be.
Is that the woman from what was that show? What's
she from? I've seen her before. Her name's like, maybe
I keep one to call her buddy, Jane Jane Lynch.
Speaker 4 (38:36):
Yeah, that's the Jane I was thinking of when you
said the other Jane.
Speaker 3 (38:40):
No, I'm thinking about the other Jane from thirty Rock
that plays the ditzy blonde. I think she's also named
Jane Jane Lynch.
Speaker 2 (38:48):
That's her.
Speaker 3 (38:49):
Yeah. Anyway, Network TV. That's not quite Seinfeld, you know,
cheers Seinfeld friends, Like, it's not quite the same lineup.
Speaker 4 (39:02):
I'm surprised I got one. I never ever even look
at those channels.
Speaker 3 (39:05):
Yeah, part of it.
Speaker 5 (39:06):
You got the TV guide back in the day, and
you could see the whole lineup.
Speaker 3 (39:09):
Did you subscribe to TV Guy? I remember TV Guy.
I love TV Guy. When I was a kid, I
really want like I thought. My parents didn't have TV Guide,
so I would sneak and look at it in the
grocery store line. I was more of the TV Guide
badass Mad at the Pigley Wiggly. When my grandfather would
go shop, I would read Mad magazine and cracked and
(39:33):
then I would look at the TV Guide. That's that's
the case. You A lot of kids were committing crimes.
That's what I was doing. That's how you. That explains
a lot. Uh. The volleyball team won their ninth consecutive
SEC championship. It's insane, insane, especially now that Texas in
the league ninth consecutive. It they're gonna end up host
(39:55):
probably hosting that they had so that they've never had
an SEC volleyball tournament. That's the first one is next week.
We've never had one before, so it's in Savannah, Georgia,
so we gotta get through that. But assuming that goes well,
they're probably going to host through the final four, which
that'll be a big thing for Lexington. But how about
(40:15):
the UK.
Speaker 4 (40:16):
Volleyball crazy, and not just they win the league. They
went fifteen to zero, and they've been getting big turnouts
even before this upcoming postseason, they're gonna host I went
to that Tennessee game, and I know they went out
of the way to market that one. It was a sellout.
But even at the they went head to head with
basketball recently and we win people in the bar wearing
volleyball t shirts to the volleyball. Yeah, they've been getting
great crowds over there and the team has not let
(40:37):
them down.
Speaker 3 (40:37):
So it's exciting. I mean, they got a shot at
the national championship. They basically played all the contenders. They
beat Penn State on the road. They did lose to
Nebraska in Nashville, but they were up two sets to
none in that game and they ended up losing. But
that's the one seed right now. We would be the
number two overall seed.
Speaker 4 (40:58):
And their other loss was like pitt who's like four
or five or something.
Speaker 3 (41:03):
So like we've played all the good teams.
Speaker 5 (41:05):
So yeah, happy for Craig Skinner. The s first SEC
tournament shows the growth of the game that we've seen
that they've been you know, championing a lot so I'm
excited for it, and we should have some watch parties
at the bar for him.
Speaker 3 (41:17):
No, we will, We're we're definitely gonna do that. One
person rights, who's Shannon rooting for Saturday? Vandy or Kentucky.
It's a great question.
Speaker 2 (41:26):
Well, you know, Vandy's got an outside chance of possibly.
Speaker 3 (41:30):
It's outside, but the shot.
Speaker 2 (41:32):
Yeah, And I mean I never thought we would even
have that conversation in my lifetime. So I feel like
I got to pull for Beanie. But I feel like
if Kentucky beats Louisville, you know, Mark Stoops is in
still a great situation, he still keeps his jobs.
Speaker 3 (41:43):
So so just that's a lot of words to say,
you're pulling for little bandy.
Speaker 2 (41:47):
Yeah, that's what I said. Anna, What are you gonna do?
What are you gonna do about it?
Speaker 3 (41:53):
Oh? My man, Joe. Personal rankings, you may be dropping
with the big week I mean, Billy's had a big weekend.
Speaker 5 (42:01):
Ability scale just up and down.
Speaker 3 (42:03):
Right, Yeah, it is. Actually, you know, Shannon, Shannon has
been high and the like that. Maybe you've passed Shannon
with the general I passed him a long time ago.
Speaker 2 (42:14):
This is me carrying, This is my carrying voice right now.
Speaker 3 (42:17):
Well, I'm so hurcked. Hour number two. Hopefully, luckily, there's
some distance between these two
