Welcome to our two of Kentucky's sports radio, presented by
a Stockton Mortgage. Now Here's Matt Jones.

Speaker 4 (01:05):
Welcome back number two Tucky Sports Radio.

Speaker 5 (01:07):
If I'm nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven,
uh one person writes on the text machine. Ryan said
he was gonna open his eyes and listen to Mark
pok today.

Speaker 3 (01:16):
I called that too. I wasn't gonna say anything.

Speaker 5 (01:18):
That's a good mixing of analogies. But I mean, you do,
in theory have to open your eyes so you can
see him while you're listening like you, I mean, you
could close them, but if.

Speaker 6 (01:26):
You want to open your eyes to see his body language,
but then you want to listen to what he's saying.

Speaker 4 (01:29):
Oh, so that's what you mean.

Speaker 6 (01:30):
That's what I'm meant to say. Okay, I think he
comes out and he's hanging his head all MOPI how
am I gonna see it if I don't open my eyes?

Speaker 4 (01:37):
See, I didn't even think about that, you know.

Speaker 5 (01:39):
I mean, there's a lot that goes into this brain
that we don't always process through.

Speaker 4 (01:44):
And so that was actually much more in depth than
we realized.

Speaker 7 (01:48):
And he knows the senses. What was it last week
when he said that you have a fifth sense?

Speaker 5 (01:52):
I had a fifth sense, which was nice. He gives
me all of them.

Speaker 6 (01:55):
All the sense.

Speaker 5 (01:57):
Uh, kas bar is open, come on out tonight they're
having what are they're having karaoke?

Speaker 7 (02:03):
Like?

Speaker 5 (02:03):
Is that Cam's karaoke? Cam comes out here, he leads karaoke.

Speaker 7 (02:07):
Cam.

Speaker 5 (02:07):
Now Cam's a character. Mario sent me a video at
Cam singing. Cam gets down. So if you want to,
if you want to do KSR karaoke, I'm I I
can't come tonight, but I'm gonna come to the next
one because I want to. I want to sing with Cam.
I want Cam and I to sing Islands in the stream.
I saw Cam singing to be Kenny. He can be
Dolly and Uh, we'll let it go.

Speaker 7 (02:28):
You need a karaoke host to you step in there.

Speaker 5 (02:31):
And they gotta get up and energy.

Speaker 7 (02:34):
Cam's got a mullet.

Speaker 4 (02:36):
That's every good karaoke singer's got a mullet.

Speaker 6 (02:39):
One of my favorite memories of our Alaskan cruise are
all us singing karaoke in the the one of those
ship bars that one night.

Speaker 7 (02:45):
Right.

Speaker 5 (02:45):
Have you seen the video of the kid at Liberty
who's from Ashland. What's his name, Colin Porter?

Speaker 6 (02:50):
Oh, he's awesome.

Speaker 5 (02:51):
So there's a kid might be nice to have that
kid actually There's a kid at Liberty whose name is
Colin Porter. He's from Ashland, Kentucky. He can shoot yep,
and I guess the other night they were playing Somebody
and he had like a crazy game.

Speaker 4 (03:05):
He had like thirty five points.

Speaker 7 (03:07):
He really, what is that sound?

Speaker 6 (03:09):
You know?

Speaker 7 (03:09):
What's going on? What's happening?

Speaker 5 (03:12):
What tell somebody? Don't tell him to calm down. It's
a little loud for anyway. Uh, Colin Porter?

Speaker 7 (03:19):
What? Who's Brett Decker? I think that's the guy you're
talking about from Elizabethtown. Here's a guy named Colin Porter
from Ashton. He's been their starting point guard for Liberty,
lighting it up right now from Elizabethtown. I thought's what
you're talking about.

Speaker 5 (03:31):
I'm talking about Colin Porter because there's a video of
him and he after the last game year, after some
game he had a big game and he sang, Morgan.

Speaker 7 (03:38):
Wallen, have you seen news? I haven't seen that video,
it's online.

Speaker 5 (03:43):
He he like has a good game. Then the interview
and he just is like, what's the song? And now
I'm dodging potholes in my like he starts singing. He
sings it in his postgame, you know, yeah, and not
particularly well, but I still give him a lot of credit.

Speaker 7 (04:01):
So Ashland looking good at Liberty.

Speaker 6 (04:03):
Yeah, he was on that Acelin team that went undefeated
through the regular season and got upset in the state final.
Well maybe I've been in the COVID year they didn't
have the state finals and they were undefeated. He's been
the starting point guards as the many walked on the court.

Speaker 4 (04:14):
Yeah, he's really good.

Speaker 7 (04:15):
I was showing you Decker from Elizabethtown. He just scored
twenty nine. He's got twenty one nineteen, and he's shooting
like sixty seven percent from three for Liberty. He won't
be at Liberty really long. I thought you were bringing
him up because Wall he can bring Colin Porter with him,
But Decker has been a bucket for them and he's
from nearby too.

Speaker 5 (04:33):
All right, Okay, a couple of things here. First of all,
I knew you'd be excited Ryan. The Kelsey brothers gave
a shout out to Jared, Lorenzo, Travis and uh and Jason.

Speaker 6 (04:46):
Somebody sent that to me at halftime of the Michigan
State Kentucky game, and I needed to smile. Made me
smile from here to year. That was kind of cool.
To see those two guys talking about.

Speaker 5 (04:54):
Jared and they both were so like not like so nice, yes, right,
like they both acknowledged they played a clip of his
highlights and they've got so excited they're putting the famous
throw behind his head and they both went nuts. You know,
those dudes are I mean very very famous. And even

(05:15):
though it's just a minute or two to give a
shout out to Jared, I think one of them said
when they were growing up, he was like the most
exciting player they could watch. You know, they were at Cincinnati,
so they weren't that far from him obviously from where
he grew up. I just I that had to make
the Lorenzen family. That had to make them feel really good.
I hope he's dad Joe saw it.

Speaker 6 (05:35):
I hope Taytan saw it his son, because that was
kind of cool to see these two, maybe one of
the most famous podcasts going right now took time out
to honor one of the guy that we loved so dearly.

Speaker 7 (05:43):
Did you see what Tatan did last week? He had
what five touchdown, He intercepted a hell mary in the
end zone, but before he ran on the field, he
told his teammate, I'm going to intercept this. Be ready
for a lateral. He runs it out of the end
zone right before he gets tackled. He pitches it to
his teammate, who takes it all the way down the sideline.
Wait a minute, he he said, I'm checking in to
intercept this. Hell man, be ready for My team scored

(06:06):
a touchdown. I think he got tackled, just shy on
the goal line, but they went ninety yards and he
called his shot. He said, I'm checking in to intercept this.
Be ready for the latter.

Speaker 4 (06:14):
What's he doing next year?

Speaker 7 (06:15):
He's still got another year?

Speaker 6 (06:17):
Yeah, I think he's only got like one really good
offer from like Miami Ohio. But Vince has been talking
to him, so we can't let Vince steal him away.

Speaker 7 (06:24):
I saw him at the Florida game in full UK gears.
So he's still bleeding blue, like he needs to say hello,
but he phone needs to start ringing for him.

Speaker 4 (06:31):
Why what is happening back there?

Speaker 7 (06:33):
Are we are we hosting the party the radio show
back then? I mean they're people are They're not? They're like,
who is back there? Workers?

Speaker 4 (06:45):
Just bring it down a notch, please.

Speaker 7 (06:50):
Working here?

Speaker 5 (06:51):
I mean, okay, all right, Secondly, I know you like
these kind of random stories. World Cup qualifying for soccers
going on. Wow, they've expanded the World Cup. Okay, so
so used to be thirty two. Now there's forty eight teams,
so some more teams are getting it. Okay, but would
you were like a couple of cool stories.

Speaker 6 (07:11):
I do.

Speaker 5 (07:11):
Scotland has not been in there in thirty years. Scotland
wins a game earlier this week to get to go now.
I've been with Scottish fans. I was with them at
the European Championships. The most fun group of people on
earth were Scottish soccer fans. I still talk to a
couple of them from Aberdeen. They they dance, they sing,

(07:34):
They literally make suck songs up on the fly like
they're they're awesome. They make it the country. The Prime
Minister whoever's in charge of Scotland just says after the game,
no one has to go to work tomorrow. I don't
know if even has the authority to do that. If
I don't know if you can just say no one
has to go to work. They end up all the bars.

(07:54):
They like, change the rules so everybody can stay out.
They don't They don't enforce it. They're a fitty five
in the morning of people in Scotland running and singing.
I don't think there would have been a better place
to be on Earth than Scotland on like Monday night.

Speaker 7 (08:08):
I'm sorry. So I have a Scotland flag at home
soccer or a scarf, not a flag because two of
my friends Alan and Mick love or they're from Scotland
and love soccer. I texted them as soon as it ended.
So or where are we meeting for the World Cup? Yeah?

Speaker 5 (08:21):
Wherever they play, wherever they play in America. I don't
even care about the game. I'm just gonna go to
be there. I was there at the European Championship, but
I was in two different cities where they were and
it was the most fun thing I've done. So whatever
city they get assigned, you gotta go. Then Haiti, Okay,
Haiti has never been to the World Cup. They made it,

(08:44):
and the videos and pictures of Haiti, of people, you know,
they've had a lot.

Speaker 4 (08:48):
Of devastation in Haiti, right, They've had a lot of stuff.

Speaker 7 (08:51):
They make it. But then this is maybe.

Speaker 5 (08:52):
The most interesting, the smallest country in the world to
ever make the World Cup made it this week?

Speaker 4 (08:59):
What is Currousew? Yeah, Currousow has never made it.

Speaker 5 (09:05):
They made it now you That feels like a kind
of place you've vacation.

Speaker 6 (09:09):
I have been to Curasel. Where is it down there
by the ab by Aruba or ABC Lions Ruba? The
B I think what it is? Think Curasal?

Speaker 5 (09:18):
What's the b Bermuda? No Mohamas its Largo month ego.

Speaker 6 (09:26):
Uh, but Curasal is beautiful. It's beautiful down there.

Speaker 4 (09:29):
So you've been there.

Speaker 7 (09:30):
I've been.

Speaker 5 (09:30):
How many people live in Currousew? I couldn't tell you,
but like, how give me a get? Like are we talking?
Is it one hundred thousand? It's got to be tiny
if it's the smallest one, is it? Like what's the size?

Speaker 7 (09:41):
Shannon? Will you look up how many people live in Currosel? Yeah,
I'll look it up for see.

Speaker 4 (09:44):
You are c c you are a CEO.

Speaker 3 (09:48):
Yep, one hundred and fifty five thousand.

Speaker 4 (09:52):
It looks like one hundred and fifty five thousand, So
just think about it.

Speaker 5 (09:54):
How many people live in Lexington two fifty so you know,
actually use the surrounding area of Lexington. It's like half
the size of Lexington and they're playing in the World Cup.
That's kind of awesome, isn't it.

Speaker 6 (10:07):
See when you talk about the World Cup, I don't
have any interest, and tell you tell me stories like this.
This is kind of cool. These every story you've said,
Haiti Scotland.

Speaker 7 (10:14):
And not curas Ou.

Speaker 6 (10:15):
So is that how you said cure As That's how
I say it curas How.

Speaker 4 (10:18):
Well, that doesn't mean that's right, it's very true.

Speaker 7 (10:20):
So Ron has his team, we have ours. Maybe Scotland
will play cures sow oh that would be your group.
B So I all of those are cool stories about the.

Speaker 6 (10:29):
World, very cool stories. I am pro team Curasu right
now for sure?

Speaker 4 (10:32):
All right?

Speaker 7 (10:33):
Uh?

Speaker 4 (10:33):
And then last thing, did you see our girl Jordan Hudson?
What she did? Is I've said this for a while.

Speaker 7 (10:39):
I'm pro Jordan Hudson.

Speaker 5 (10:41):
Like everybody's mean to Jordan Hudson. I'm kind of pro
Jordan Hudson. I think it's weird she does adult cheerleading,
but whatever, that's fine.

Speaker 7 (10:48):
Did you see what she did yesterday?

Speaker 5 (10:50):
What Pablo Torres podcast got nominated for Best Podcast.

Speaker 7 (10:55):
Of twenty twenty five.

Speaker 5 (10:56):
Okay, remember he's done like six episodes on her and
Bill Belichick. That's kind of how his podcast grew. So
he posts and says really excited to be nominated for
twenty twenty five.

Speaker 4 (11:08):
Podcasts of the Year. She retweets it and goes, you're welcome.

Speaker 6 (11:14):
Nice. That's a boss move.

Speaker 5 (11:15):
Really, I think that's kind of a boss move. They've
been coming after her. He says, you're welcome. I kind
of think that's pretty good, don't you.

Speaker 7 (11:24):
I have to admit I'm now a regular listener to Pablo,
but the episode that put me onto Pablo was the
Jordan Hudson episode, So she's not wrong. I don't know
that i'd be listening now. I listened this morning. By
the way, new episode is kind of good.

Speaker 5 (11:35):
Yeah, there's a new episode later because it's about us,
or it's about at least this place.

Speaker 4 (11:41):
But to her point.

Speaker 7 (11:43):
I would not know about that podcast without that Jordan
Hudson episode.

Speaker 4 (11:46):
So I do like going you're welcome.

Speaker 7 (11:49):
Yeah, if you're Jordan.

Speaker 6 (11:50):
Hudson, I think it's a boss move.

Speaker 7 (11:51):
Good for it.

Speaker 5 (11:52):
By the way, we found out it wasn't an adult cheerleading competition.
Beliti Check went to Shannon, it was adult cheerleading practice.

Speaker 3 (11:58):
Oh does that make any difference.

Speaker 4 (12:00):
I think it's worse.

Speaker 7 (12:01):
Yeah, it's not even I mean I think.

Speaker 5 (12:03):
Like if he would if well no, no, not that they
had it, but that he went he went to practice.

Speaker 7 (12:09):
You have to go to the competition to be supportive.
You don't need to go to the practice.

Speaker 6 (12:12):
Yeah, there's a definite difference.

Speaker 3 (12:14):
You want to be the supportive boyfriend to watch practices
the parents, the parents that take their kids, Yeah, they
sit there at the practice. The person that goes to
practice or parents.

Speaker 4 (12:26):
Yeah with you, You're not wrong.

Speaker 7 (12:30):
Who's up next, Let's go to Jerry. Jerry, go ahead,
Jerry hey Man.

Speaker 8 (12:37):
Today I wanted to pay tribute to the greatest UK
fan I ever knew, and that was my dad. And
he passed away last Sunday. And uh, he's the one
that gave him my love for UK sports. Taking started
taking all those UK football and basketball games in the
seventies and sitting there watched by the fireplace, watching watching
the games that the TV turned down and they would

(12:59):
up on the radio and yeah, and he loved all
UK sports, but it was passionless for UK football. And
one of the last things I got to do with
my sarity was listening to the Cats win. So I
just wanted to pay true to my dad and Jerry.
That's I'm glad you and he'll root before him on Sarday.

Speaker 4 (13:18):
I'm glad you got to do that. How old Jerry?
How old was he? Eighty four years old?

Speaker 5 (13:25):
Well listen, man, you know you know we we love you,
and I'll be praying for you and your family and
God bless you.

Speaker 7 (13:33):
Man.

Speaker 8 (13:34):
Okay, thanks, Matt, No.

Speaker 5 (13:36):
No problem. You know one of the things that's great
about this fan well, no, I mean this is the
thing the connects. The reason I love Kentucky sports is
it connects people, and it connects generations. Right, everybody listening
to this show likely has a version of that story.

(13:56):
Every single person. All of you have somebody who introduced
you to the unless you're a brand new fan, it's
probably your parents or grandparents or uncle or whatever.

Speaker 4 (14:05):
And I appreciate that.

Speaker 6 (14:08):
I love it when it's somebody talking about their their parents,
or somebody talking about how that they connect with their
kids through this show or through UK. You're right, it
kind of bonds us all together. We're bonding that bridge.

Speaker 5 (14:20):
Blue tax savings are here all month at Don Franklin

Speaker 7 (14:52):
Where are we tomorrow? Parlor Parla Pizza great spot? All right?
So where is that.

Speaker 6 (14:59):
Charlie's used to be on Harrisburg Road?

Speaker 7 (15:01):
I got a UK room, good food? Where's the was
the OHR?

Speaker 6 (15:04):
Right by Chick fil A? Find a home depot cor
so that.

Speaker 5 (15:07):
I've been told this Parlor Pizza might be the best
pizza in Lexington. Crutch actually told me that one of
our one of our managers, he said that he thinks
the best pizza.

Speaker 6 (15:17):
Right now they weren't on the street. Is they have
the best pizza in town. It's a hot honey pepperoni pizza,
and apparently it's awesome.

Speaker 7 (15:24):
A few weeks ago, I was there for about six hours.
I think I ate everything on the menu. We're there
for six hours. We had quite the day. It's a
good time.

Speaker 5 (15:30):
All right, Parlor Pizza, Parlor Pizza. We will be there
tomorrow ten to twelve. You can come and have these pizzas.
The hot honey pepperoni that sounds.

Speaker 6 (15:39):
That's allegedly the best in town.

Speaker 4 (15:41):
All right, well we're gonna find I'll be the judge.

Speaker 6 (15:43):
You'll be the judge of that.

Speaker 7 (15:44):
You take a break and be right back.

Speaker 4 (15:46):
KSR.

Speaker 7 (15:47):
Welcome back.

Speaker 4 (15:48):
It is Tucky Sports Radio.

Speaker 5 (15:50):
If I'm nine two eighty seven, text machine is seven
seven two seven seven four five two five four soft
football for a second. Still feeling good about the Vandy game, Drew.

Speaker 7 (16:03):
I've never felt good about the Vandy game, and our
injury report doesn't make me feel any better. We had
a lot of dudes out, and a lot of them
are on defense and in the secondary. But one thing
giving me hope is that Diego Pavia seems to always
be in Vegas or Miami. I don't know how he's
never in Nashville anymore. But maybe we'll have the distraction
factor here.

Speaker 6 (16:22):
Bandy needs the win right to stay in the playoff
or they fourteenth in the rankings Tuesday, so they you know,
they're still trying to hang on to sneak into the playoffs.
So it is a big game for them. It's their
senior day. But last time we went down there two
years ago, we did win. We snuck a win two
years ago.

Speaker 7 (16:36):
The road team has won four straight in this series,
so we have that going forward too.

Speaker 5 (16:42):
I'm I don't know, I feel weirdly confident about it.
We're not gonna have our usual pocket of like the
same or close amount of fans, but I kind of
feel like we got a shot. I think, I mean Pavia.
We have struggled with Pavia obviously, we've struggled with guys
like him for a little while. But I'm still feeling.

Speaker 4 (17:02):
Like, uh you, why not?

Speaker 5 (17:04):
I mean, they're not I don't think they are as
good as people believe. And I think they've While they've
won a couple, they've won, you know, more games of
any normally wins, they also have had a couple of
games that easily could have gone the other way.

Speaker 7 (17:17):
It's the injury report. That's really hurting me. The defense
is pretty depleted. Uh, Alexafari, he's questionable. If he ends
up playing, that's a huge difference maker. But just at cornerback,
they're down like three or four guys heading into that game.
So if Kentucky were little healthier, I'd feel better. But
I mean they just got rocked with the available availability
report last night.

Speaker 4 (17:35):
Yeah, it's who all's out? You got what?

Speaker 7 (17:37):
Love it? Jordan, love it, Sam, he's been great.

Speaker 6 (17:40):
Uh, Jaden Smith, Khalil Sanders, is he gonna play?

Speaker 7 (17:44):
Uh, he's on questionable. He's another one they need. Nichols
is questionable. Of course, Waller's been out, Addison's out. It's
like cornerback, cornerback, cornerback, cornerback.

Speaker 4 (17:52):
Uh.

Speaker 7 (17:52):
On the injury report.

Speaker 6 (17:53):
We had dudes out there against the Tennessee Tech that
I had never heard of before, playing the secondary at
corner and safety.

Speaker 7 (17:59):
The other game. Jenson Dunn has been a backup who
stepped in. Now he's out. That was a little unexpected. Yeah, well,
so the injury report is not working in our favor. Otherwise,
I'm with you. I like that the momentum they've had lately.
Maybe Afari and some of these starters that are still
on the fence, we'll give it a go.

Speaker 4 (18:14):
It would be nice if we were able to knock
them out of.

Speaker 5 (18:17):
The UH, out of the completely out of the playoffs.
It would be nice if that was kind of the
final resting place for Vandy's playoff turns.

Speaker 7 (18:26):
That needs to be humbled too. Yeah. I like him,
but we need to bring him down a notch, especially.

Speaker 6 (18:30):
If they came in the Kroger last year and just
whooped us. I mean, that was an awful cold game
last year.

Speaker 5 (18:35):
As a Vandy fan, Are you feeling confident about it, Shannon?

Speaker 3 (18:38):
I mean, I feel like this is a game that
they could slip up and lose. But knowing that the
playoffs are, you know, they're an outside team, right, They're
probably not going, But they.

Speaker 5 (18:48):
Were a lot higher in the rankings that I would
have thought. I mean, they were fourteenth. They'd beat Kentucky
and Tennessee. I mean, they're at least sitting there with
a possibility.

Speaker 3 (18:56):
Put it to you like this, I'm much more worried
about Tennessee next week for Vanderbilt than Kentucky. But this
is a game where Kentucky could come in and surprise
some people, but I don't think it's gonna happen.

Speaker 5 (19:04):
Sure, he's more word not even worried about how if
we win, and then I'm gonna have everybody text Shanning
the dude and just say eat it.

Speaker 4 (19:12):
That's what I That's what I hope.

Speaker 3 (19:13):
Would you be more worried about Vanderbilt or Tennessee.

Speaker 5 (19:17):
I'm much more worried about you and you're losing this game.

Speaker 7 (19:22):
And uh in the mouth you have John some like
he's overlooking Kentucky. Is this a trap game?

Speaker 5 (19:28):
John Sumraw was going to apparently interview with Florida and
then it leaked out and he canceled the interview and
said he wasn't going to talk to Florida.

Speaker 7 (19:40):
Uh, Florida. People are kind.

Speaker 5 (19:42):
Of living at each other for talking about it and
maybe ruining it some.

Speaker 4 (19:47):
Raw also had an interesting comment.

Speaker 5 (19:48):
He's projected to go to the playoffs with Tulane and
he said we're not even good. He was like, if
we're one of the twenty five best teams, there must
be some bad teams out there.

Speaker 6 (19:57):
At the playoffs started today. They're in they're in it
right now.

Speaker 7 (20:00):
But he doesn't think they're any good That's why I
like him.

Speaker 6 (20:03):
Could coach at your team, coach call your team.

Speaker 7 (20:05):
Average where they've had a great year and they're in
the playoff, makes it too lane? That's what we need,
is it? Yes?

Speaker 6 (20:11):
I think he made the right move, But canceling that
talking to Florida since it came out, he's still got
to be focused on.

Speaker 5 (20:17):
I thinks, what are these coaches gonna do that may
be in the playoff and that are considering going somewhere else, Like,
what are they gonna do?

Speaker 7 (20:24):
Like what some are all gonna do if they make
the playoff?

Speaker 6 (20:26):
When you let your agent do all the talking for you.

Speaker 5 (20:29):
And but he's gonna have to I mean, he's gotta
get a team too. He's got to coach a team
and then if he wants to be a competitive before
the next year, he's got to go get some players.
So tough, that's a tough situation for them because he'll
be it'll be mid December before he could even start that.

Speaker 7 (20:48):
Well, some schools have outside collectives that could help. Uh,
they could be working on that for him.

Speaker 4 (20:53):
I guess that seems really really hard. Who's next?

Speaker 7 (20:57):
K Dog?

Speaker 4 (20:57):
K Dog? How are you? K Dog?

Speaker 9 (21:02):
Good guys, first time, long time?

Speaker 7 (21:03):
Who are.

Speaker 10 (21:06):
I've got a lineup that I would really love to
see of Aberdeen, Chandler, Oway, yellowch and Moreno on the
floor at the same time, and then Cam Williams coming
off the bench. I think that would really open the
lanes up for Oway and Chandler to get to the basket.

(21:26):
And you have a shooter at just about every spot,
or somebody that can at least can hit a three.

Speaker 5 (21:32):
That would be the best shooting lineup they could put
on the floor probably. And if you switched Cam Williams
and Moreno or Cam Williams and Yeovich, that would be
the best shooting lineup. Let me ask you about Noah.
Feels like we haven't talked about him at all. I'll
remind people that in the Purdue game, Noah.

Speaker 6 (21:49):
Started started the first two games. So I get Georgetown too.
They got hurt.

Speaker 5 (21:53):
What do you make of just I mean, I know
he was hurt, but like not, I mean, you don't
even realize he's on the court.

Speaker 4 (22:00):
And that lob pass was not good.

Speaker 6 (22:01):
No, it was not good.

Speaker 4 (22:03):
That looked like a player that was scared.

Speaker 6 (22:05):
And all summer long we talked, we heard how he
could not miss he was the best shooter on the
team and just lights out and practice. I think he's
just kind of slow getting back from his injury a
little bit. But I'm not to the point where I'm
worried about Trenton Ella yet, are you.

Speaker 7 (22:18):
With the ankle injury. I'll give him a little more time,
But if if this is what he's gonna be, I'm
worried because they need a shooter and they need a
good four, which he'd be perfect for. But he hasn't
looked good, especially in the Michigan State game. He did
have the stretch where he came in against what was
the last right of Eastern Illinois threes pretty right away.
If he is hitting threes like that, that that's the guy.

Speaker 5 (22:39):
And he was a healthy though scratch against Louisville, like
could play, wanted to play and didn't get in and.

Speaker 7 (22:47):
We complimented how he trimmed down, but pope On put
on that eighteen pounds of muscle almost might have gone
the wrong way. It looks like he's almost too thin
in there because he got pushed around a little bit
against Michigan State.

Speaker 5 (22:56):
Yeah, I worry about him in these athletic games. I mean,
like seces all athletes. So I mean he's gonna have
to you know, he's gonna have to to be athletic
enough to play in these games.

Speaker 7 (23:08):
We'll see if he is.

Speaker 6 (23:09):
So are you worried?

Speaker 4 (23:11):
I don't know.

Speaker 5 (23:12):
I feel like we could use his shooting if he
makes them. I mean like we need it. So we'll see.
We'll take a break. Be right back, SKSR.

Speaker 4 (23:19):
TJ. Smith, personal injury attorney called TJ. He'll make them pay.

Speaker 3 (23:24):
Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Here's Matt Jones.

Speaker 4 (23:29):
I think this is my favorite song of my cousins.

Speaker 7 (23:32):
Yeah, yeah, I can.

Speaker 4 (23:33):
I find myself singing this sometimes.

Speaker 6 (23:36):
And this is what Colin Porter sang on the floor.

Speaker 5 (23:38):
Yeah, so I find myself sometimes going every time I'm
meeting tacos in the I get the words wrong, but
I do a busilverado. I just and I and he
says Tennessee like I do.

Speaker 6 (23:50):
Yeah, you guys do say it exactly like Tennessee.

Speaker 7 (23:53):
No, you thought I was the only one.

Speaker 4 (23:55):
You thought I was the only one that sounded like.

Speaker 7 (23:57):
A wee dream bottom shive.

Speaker 4 (24:00):
Therew's now gonna get the only one.

Speaker 5 (24:02):
On the podcast, Girl got a guest, Kevin Colton. He
is all, yeah, how are you Gavin. We'll stop the
singing and let you join us.

Speaker 4 (24:14):
How's it going.

Speaker 9 (24:15):
I don't always tell it's good to be back home.

Speaker 5 (24:18):
You know when you were on UH, who knew you
were so popular? People kept asking for you to come back.
Did you get good response to your first KSR appearance?

Speaker 9 (24:30):
Yeah?

Speaker 7 (24:30):
I did.

Speaker 9 (24:31):
I was you know, I was getting text from people
whose numbers I didn't even know how. I didn't even
have their numbers. So that's always a good that's always
a good indicator.

Speaker 7 (24:39):
Uh. Well good.

Speaker 5 (24:40):
I'm glad I watched the UH because of you. I
watched the men's soccer team play their their game against
Central Florida and they lost, and then you texted me
after and said that they had played very poorly. Why
do you think that is?

Speaker 9 (24:54):
You know, it's unlike I think that twenty twenty two
team that was fantastic for Kentucky. You know, they just
lacked that little bit of maturity somebody that is going
to turn around and say I'm I'm going and take
the sort of bull by the horns.

Speaker 7 (25:06):
Here.

Speaker 9 (25:06):
They're missing a local boy, Max Miller, through some injuries
at the moment remains to be seen whether he's going
to be back for this game. And he's the person
really that has consistently done that for them in tricky moments,
and without Max on the field, it's you know, I'm
looking around every week seeing who's going to step up
and do that, and they've They've got some players I
think can do that technically, but sometimes you just need
somebody to do it a bit more emotionally for you

(25:28):
out in the field.

Speaker 7 (25:29):
You know, he's local. Where did he get Where's he from?

Speaker 6 (25:31):
I don't know.

Speaker 7 (25:33):
Do you know where he's from?

Speaker 11 (25:33):
Max?

Speaker 9 (25:35):
He's lectling. I don't know what high school he went to.
But he's a local kid and he's fantastic and had
probably had the opportunity to go pro after his freshman year,
decided to stick around, wanted to go and win national championship,
and you know, I think it would be his last
chance to go and do.

Speaker 5 (25:53):
It, all right, Brian State. He's a Brian Station kid,
all right. So they're in the first round of the
NCAA tournament. Explain to people because because we don't, is
it is it sixty four teams?

Speaker 4 (26:04):
What's the men's soccer tournament.

Speaker 9 (26:06):
Like, there's slightly fewer than that, I believe.

Speaker 7 (26:11):
You know, look it's thirty two.

Speaker 9 (26:15):
Yeah, so you've got some that of our You've got
some that are already throwing that by, which is typical.
You know. It looks like Vermont, Vermont, who are just
like being unbelievable this year. They're going to be the
favorites to win this. But you know, just dealing with
this one that's here. This is a match that hasn't happened,
you know, with Saint Louis since two since year two
thousand and that was in the first round of an

(26:36):
NCAA tournament as well in Kentucky after nil nil, Tye
went on to win the penalties.

Speaker 5 (26:43):
Because so Kentucky and Saint Louis, the game is is
is it tonight?

Speaker 7 (26:47):
Is that what it is?

Speaker 9 (26:49):
Yeah, it's gonna be tonight eight o'clock eastern.

Speaker 4 (26:51):
Eight o'clock eastern.

Speaker 7 (26:52):
And where do I watch that? Is that on?

Speaker 5 (26:54):
Uh? It looks like it's on the ESPN, on the
ESPN plus. Okay, So I have a question for you. You
mentioned the penalties. You know, I have soccer questions sometimes
you do explain to me, Gavin, I think that the
worst system in sports is the penalty kicks in soccer
to end games. And I and people always say, well,

(27:14):
what would be better? What about my idea, which is
you do like they do in hockey, and every few
minutes you take a guy off and it becomes eleven
on eleven, come that comes ten on ten, becomes nine
on nine. Wouldn't that be a better approximation of the
sport rather than penalty kicks.

Speaker 9 (27:33):
It would probably keep it a bit more dynamic and
a bit more suited to what happens. But you know,
I think after you can only go on so long,
you know, I think that's some of the problems. At
least penalty kicks are you know, while they're cruel, they
are they are final. You know, Dark and Chucky went
into seven or eight there, you know, in the toward

(27:53):
the end of the season, and it's it's not a
fun way to go. You know. The UK women lost.

Speaker 5 (27:58):
To Yep, we watched the you're watching it on our trip.
They lost on the penalty kicks.

Speaker 9 (28:02):
It was brutal, yeah, and it was it was abysmal
on a horrible way to finish and but it's a
great way to win, you know, if you've been on
the winning side of penalty kicks, and it is it
is quite a way to win. Yeah, I think there's
you know, I see that they're trying to change the
game in lots of ways. I think, like in every sport,
you know, soccer is one that they're constantly tinkering with it,

(28:24):
introducing new technology, new ideas. So I won't be surprised if,
you know, in the next few years we see we
see something changed there.

Speaker 5 (28:31):
So I had a couple of people writing questions for you, Gavin.
One person writes, I want you to ask Gavin Ireland
qualified for the World Cup playoffs. They're not in the
World Cup. They have to win two more games to
get to go to the World Cup. Is he excited?

Speaker 9 (28:45):
I'm beyond excited. I'm already looking at looking at flights
home for March twenty six. The game is going to
be in Chechia, which, yeah, I'm getting confused in my geography.
You know, we could either play against you know, Czech
Republic or Orslovakia, And I'm like, well, I grew up
Coles Czechoslovakia, so I'm obviously not up on my geography.
But yeah, I'm over the moon for that we haven't

(29:05):
a been like Scotland. It's been quite a few years
since we've been near a World Cup. I remember it
was two thousand and two, it was our last World
Cup appearance. You know you're going.

Speaker 7 (29:16):
To go back for it, to go back for the game.

Speaker 9 (29:18):
Yeah, yeah, absolutely, I'm just going to go back to
It's going to be in it's going to be in
the check of public. But I'm just going to go
home to be in a pub enjoying it with the
home crowd.

Speaker 5 (29:31):
You're going to go all the way back to Ireland
just to watch the game in a pub.

Speaker 4 (29:35):
That's kind of awesome.

Speaker 9 (29:37):
Yeah. Yeah, I don't see like I've got any choice
but to do that. I've already got I've already got
friends looking at looking at American trips, and I wrote
to I'm onto congressman and senators. I've got some friends
who are you know, dealing with some visa issues over
the years and getting into America. I'm already writing some
of those folks to see what we can do in

(29:58):
case we go ahead and qualify.

Speaker 12 (29:59):
Wow, already trying.

Speaker 5 (30:00):
He's already tried to pull strings to give people into
America to watch it.

Speaker 4 (30:04):
I love it all right.

Speaker 5 (30:05):
One person writes from an from one Irishman to another.
I've lived in Lexington and can't really find the perfect
food for me. What would Gavin say, are the best
places for an irishman in Lexington?

Speaker 9 (30:19):
And we'll tell you. Get yourself down to Fulta to
Lisa bet store right right there next to McCarthy's, and
it's you know, I've got more or less everything I
need in there. She's got uh, you know, pre package,
prepackaged breakfast foods, all the kind of condiments and tasty
things I want coming up to Christmas. They get it.

Speaker 6 (30:36):
You know.

Speaker 9 (30:37):
Get on Instagram and look up Faulter. That's f I
f a I l tes, the Irish word for welcome.
And just look at the Christmas hall that they have
coming in there. She's got everything that I need to
come home and you know, cook whatever I want.

Speaker 5 (30:51):
That was the place where we got the Williams.

Speaker 7 (30:55):
That was where the Wata big was exactly.

Speaker 9 (30:58):
So that's that's where I like to go to get
most my stuff. But as far as dude, I don't look.
I don't look too far past Carson's. And you know,
I hate to disagree, but I do think the Pearls
is the best peach in town.

Speaker 7 (31:09):
Ooh, girls is good. Pearls is good. I'm a regular
for Pakles.

Speaker 5 (31:12):
Yeah, but they're not bringing us tomorrow, Carson. So we
said it's parlor for this show right now. Gavin, thank
you very much. If we win, we'll talk to you
a little later on. All right, take care there you go,
Kevin Colton helping the Cats. They play Saint Louis, a
little battle for Travis.

Speaker 7 (31:30):
Ford soul with Indiana waiting, could have a rivalry. That's
what I was trying to show you. Indiana is the
already waiting in the next round. Not to look ahead,
gotta get past Saint Louis, but we could have a
big rivalry.

Speaker 4 (31:40):
Next Yeah, that's exactly right.

Speaker 5 (31:42):
If I'm nine, two eighth, twenty to eighty seven and
I heard some bad news Baxter Avenue Theater, Yeah, is
a scuttle butt on the street might.

Speaker 4 (31:51):
Be closing at the end of December. Does that make
you sad?

Speaker 3 (31:55):
Well, I mean to be honest with you, I'll never go,
but I hate to see old theaters, you know, old
buildings that have been around for so long just close
like that.

Speaker 5 (32:02):
So that is my theater I've probably seen one hundred
one hundred to one hundred and fifty movies in there,
and it's the only theater in Kentucky besides the Kentucky
Theater downtown that gets kind of artsy movies like it's
the only theater that doesn't just play you know, Smile
Fase three or whatever like. Uh So, I mean losing

(32:23):
that place would be very hard on me.

Speaker 3 (32:25):
I can literally walk to now you're gonna be sad
face three.

Speaker 5 (32:28):
I am gonna be sad face three. But with that,
you know, at mid Sea Mall, they're gonna try to
do something with it. They've never been able to since
I've lived there, They've never really been able to make
something there. It's a great location, got a huge parking lot.
I guess now they're gonna do something with it, probably
put in stupid apartments.

Speaker 6 (32:44):
There is something cool when you go into one of
those old theaters and you sit down and they can
take you back to your childhood or just something.

Speaker 5 (32:49):
Well, they've remodeled it. It's actually really nice now. So
it's kind of unfortunate that we're gonna we're gonna lose it.
So that's the way it goes. If I'm nine two
eight oh twenty two eighty seven. Who's next?

Speaker 7 (32:59):
Let's go to Ed?

Speaker 4 (33:00):
Go ahead, Ed?

Speaker 13 (33:04):
Yeah, man, I was just warning the effect pressure this
morning's going to be carried by anybody in life.

Speaker 4 (33:10):
I can't. I couldn't understand what you said. What'd you say?

Speaker 8 (33:13):
Ed?

Speaker 13 (33:15):
I was just wondering if that Christ conference this morning
by Coach Hope will be live?

Speaker 5 (33:21):
Uh, it is, It'll be on if you go to
the KSR YouTube, we will.

Speaker 4 (33:27):
We will have it there.

Speaker 13 (33:30):
Thank you?

Speaker 4 (33:31):
All right, there you go. See.

Speaker 7 (33:32):
We're just here answering questions left and right.

Speaker 6 (33:35):
A lot of people interested to say, a lot of
people want to hear what he has to say today,
say if he's gonna have some answers to what's going
on with his team.

Speaker 5 (33:41):
Yeah, well, I think I'm one of those people. I
want to I want to hear what he has to
say too. We're gonna take a break. If I'm nine
two eight oh twenty two eighty seven, we'll be.

Speaker 4 (33:51):
Right back to KSR.

Speaker 5 (33:53):
Welcome back. It is uh Tucky Sports Radio. If I'm
nine two eighth twenty two eighty seven, you want to
hear the illusion? Can I give you delusion at its
greatest form.

Speaker 6 (34:03):
Let's hear it.

Speaker 7 (34:04):
Stephen A. Smith.

Speaker 5 (34:06):
Today on So Drake May was asked what he thought
about something Cam Newton said on first Take, and I
guess Drake May. And you know, if you listen to
covers here, I'm not the biggest Drake May guy in
the world. But Drake May was like, oh, I didn't
know he was on that show.

Speaker 4 (34:22):
I didn't know. I didn't know anything about it. Stephen A.

Speaker 5 (34:27):
Smith goes, Drake May is a liar. First Take is
the number one morning show. Don't tell me you an
athlete and you don't know that. Don't tell me you
an athlete and you don't know Cam Newton on is
on this show.

Speaker 7 (34:39):
You're lying little little delusions of grandeur.

Speaker 6 (34:46):
There, a little inflated sense of self important train.

Speaker 5 (34:49):
I mean, come on, I would hope Drake May at
ten o'clock in the morning has more to do than
watch first.

Speaker 7 (34:54):
Take, right, Yeah, I assume he knows first Take exists.
But if he doesn't know who's on A or that's.

Speaker 4 (35:00):
I mean, I have to be honest with you. Would
you have known, Cam Newton?

Speaker 7 (35:04):
I was about to say, I told you yesterday with
Stephen am was on TV I haven't watched any of
those shows in like three or four years. Those are
ESPN's talk shows.

Speaker 4 (35:12):
I do not.

Speaker 6 (35:12):
The only reason I know is because it's on in here,
and then you know, we can't hear what they're saying.
Will you see the video of you? That's the only
way I can.

Speaker 7 (35:18):
Be quite frank with you.

Speaker 5 (35:19):
If it wasn't on in here during our show, I
would never know. I don't think I would know that
Cam Newton's I would not know. I'm almost certain I
wouldn't know if it wasn't. But it's on while we're
in here sometimes, you know.

Speaker 7 (35:32):
Always working from home with the website that used to
just be eternal on ESPN. That's my background noise. I
haven't bothered doing that in years.

Speaker 5 (35:39):
Yeah. Uh, By the way, I'm taping. I still say taping.

Speaker 7 (35:43):
Oh.

Speaker 5 (35:43):
People make the kids make fun of me for saying taping.
Mario one time even asked me, why do you say taping?

Speaker 4 (35:50):
What does that mean?

Speaker 7 (35:52):
But it is taping. I know they use the phrase recording.

Speaker 5 (35:55):
Yeah, well you're not using tape used to Okay, so
I'm recording, uh my interrupted podcast at one o'clock.

Speaker 4 (36:06):
Viewer listener questions and There's been a lot of good ones.

Speaker 7 (36:09):
A bunch in Oh there were a.

Speaker 4 (36:11):
Ton of them that came in both from this show.

Speaker 7 (36:13):
And sports questions. Right what you're looking for?

Speaker 5 (36:15):
Yes, and there was a lot of good ones, So
I'm gonna answer those today with Billy. Clayton and Creme
was founded on a simple idea, all leather goods shouldlast
a lifetime. They make everything from bags, belts, wallets, and
much more. The best parts of doing it right here

(36:35):

Speaker 4 (36:41):
Who's up next, Shannon, Let's go too, Jojo.

Speaker 5 (36:45):
By the way, before Jojo goes, one person rights, Matt,
I want to know right now? Well, is he's saying
right now we got to do it? Is Mark Stoops
to coach at Kentucky next year?

Speaker 4 (36:53):
Yes or no?

Speaker 7 (36:53):
From all of you?

Speaker 5 (36:54):
Drue yes, Ryan, yes, Shannon yes, Matt yes, And three
weeks ago my answer would have been different, all right, Jojoe,
go ahead, jojo.

Speaker 12 (37:05):
Hi, Matt, I got a fun line up if we
get way ahead. Sometimes for this Kentucky basketball team. Uh,
I'd like to see him put all the Kentucky boys
in for a minute or two. We got five Kentucky
boys that's on the team you're.

Speaker 7 (37:26):
Talking about, including the walk Ons.

Speaker 5 (37:27):
I guess that's true. What Noah Moreno, Johnson Howe and
who and Reese Potter?

Speaker 7 (37:35):
Yeah? Yeah, Ree's red shirting?

Speaker 4 (37:38):
Okay? Well, and then Walker Horn. I guess he's a
Kentucky guy.

Speaker 7 (37:43):
Yes. Has it ever been done? You know?

Speaker 4 (37:46):
I bet it has.

Speaker 7 (37:48):
Do you think it's ever been done? Five Kentucky guys
in at the same time.

Speaker 6 (37:52):
Maybe a long time ago, maybe maybe not.

Speaker 5 (37:56):
I mean it's certainly not in recent times, but I
bet it's been done at some point.

Speaker 7 (38:03):
I think you'd have to go pretty far back. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (38:05):
How many times, even just getting a.

Speaker 7 (38:07):
Couple of guys from Indiana, Illinois back in the day
they have.

Speaker 5 (38:09):
Appreciate the call. How many times could it have been done? Well,
the one year you get Stockton Carrier Blevin's, you.

Speaker 6 (38:16):
Could Robbie Moss, Patrick Sparks. There were a couple of
times where like they would have three or four of
them on the Florida same time. But I have you
need a big.

Speaker 5 (38:23):
Guy regards beat Louisville with Sparks, we had maybe four
of them in at once.

Speaker 7 (38:29):
Yeah, I think it.

Speaker 4 (38:29):
Was like Sparks Carriers, Stockton and Robbie.

Speaker 6 (38:32):
And they all did contributed greatly in that game.

Speaker 5 (38:35):
But I don't know that we've ever had five. Probably haven't, actually,
don't you think. I mean we probably haven't history, but
I don't think there's been one reason.

Speaker 6 (38:45):
Well, let's look at the fabulous five, Ralph Beard, Wad Jones,
Kenny Rollins, there's three Kentucky guys. Who else is on
the on there?

Speaker 7 (38:52):
That's that's gonna be a U assignment on that one.

Speaker 4 (38:54):
Yeah, you're gonna have to.

Speaker 7 (38:56):
I will say we've already gotten some fun moments with
Jaspernoa and Mareno this year that can continue to happen.
But I don't know about getting a full five. I
don't see Zach joining that group.

Speaker 5 (39:06):
Sir, I mean, especially if it's never happened. I think
that would be kind of cool when one of these
games we're winning by a lot. Draft Kings, make your pick,
you go to DraftKings dot com promo code ksru DraftKings,
download the app, do your thing. Let's look at it.
Bills and Texans. Bills are a six point favorite. I'm
picking the Texans to win.

Speaker 5 (39:25):
I'm picking Texans money line at plus two forty and
win big money.

Is he not gonna play tonight?

Speaker 7 (39:34):

Speaker 4 (39:38):
Legend to it. Oh this year got a neck that
goes for miles. Take Davis Mills and the Texans.

Speaker 6 (39:43):
I'm not on the Davis Mills fan club, so I'm
gonna pick against them.

Speaker 7 (39:46):
You're taking the Bills to cover, Bill's to cover? All right.
I've been a member of Bill's mafia for five days now.
I can't possibly pick against them in my first games.
It's joining the club Gold Bills go, Let's go Buffalo?
Is that I'm still learning the SA Let's go about

Speaker 4 (40:02):
What do you got?

Speaker 7 (40:03):

When Davis Mills does his thing, you'll know about it.

Speaker 4 (40:09):
What's next? Matt, Matt, go ahead, Matt.

Speaker 11 (40:13):
Hey guys, I'm out here doing a little grounding meditation,
and it behooves me to say a couple of things
real quick. First, I like to say, there's the little
things are never little, and every milestone is a celebration.
We're gonna be celebrating. The Cats are going the football

(40:34):
team's gonna win out, and the girls volleyball teams killing it,
the girls basketball teams killing it, and the Cats will
get it together. And one more thing, real quick, Matt,
I'm barefooted out here meditating, and I was still wondering.

Speaker 4 (40:50):
I know you're a busy man.

Speaker 11 (40:51):
If I was gonna get any of those Matt Jones shoes,
Yes you can.

Speaker 5 (40:57):
I need to figure out how to get them to you,
because actually I have a few I'm getting rid of now.
So I'm glad to get them to you. But you
got to tell me how to do it, Okay, So
send me an email let me know where to send them,
all right, No problem, Thank you. For twenty two years,
