Quarterback It is Kentucky Sports Radio Here live in Columbia,
Kentucky and a Dare County Don Franklin Ford. Give me
some Dare County. By the way, Don Franklin Ford, I've
got these little things to read. How about this one? Uh?
Are you ready for rough stuff?
Speaker 3 (01:16):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:20):
All right, all right? What you mean you said? Hot
young running back too easily? Blue collar dollars meet off
road grit at the Franklin Truck League. Only at Don
Franklin Auto. You're pretty good at this. Usually tell me. Uh,
people from Adare County, Columbia athletes or or citizens.
Speaker 4 (01:38):
The best athletes I can think of. A Steve Hamilton
ended up pitching for the New York Yankees.
Speaker 2 (01:42):
I know him.
Speaker 4 (01:42):
He was head baseball coach at Moorhead State.
Speaker 2 (01:45):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (01:45):
If I'm not mistake, Well they had Connor Lloyd. He
just took the Sweet Deare County Sweet sixteen. He's playing
now at South Alabama, I think right now. And if
I is Lance Burton from here.
Speaker 2 (01:57):
And you're gonna add him Lance Burton the magician. Really
I didn't know that. Well.
Speaker 3 (02:03):
Good, he practiced his magic right out side of Columbia,
maybe over Lindsay Wilson Pollos.
Speaker 2 (02:08):
Ok.
Speaker 4 (02:08):
Wow, well good, well, right, I had a course famous
golfer Chase Carpenter's here something, Yes.
Speaker 2 (02:12):
Right, yeah, yes, who who I think it can shoot
eighty five at any given point? All right, so let's
talk for a second couple non sports stories. Shan and
I'll start with you. Have you heard the controversy about
campbell Soup? No, I mean if you all have ever
had a can of Campbell soup? Course, yeah, everybody is.
The Campbell's Soup CEO is under fire. Would you like
(02:35):
to know why? Yes? He was recorded on tape by
one of his employees who was suing him for something,
recorded saying two things. One, everybody that eats Campbell's soup
is poor, and then number two saying I would never
eat our I would never eat our chicken. It comes
from a three D printer.
Speaker 3 (02:55):
Oh my gosh, Well, this may be the last time
I read Campbell's Chick a Noodle soup.
Speaker 2 (03:03):
Where vice it was somebody high up, it was not.
I may be wrong about CEO. Maybe it was executive
vice prayer, somebody high up. So she sued the company
for something else. But as part of the evidence that
came out, Campbell Soup released a statement that said, if
that's true, if that's real, it's obviously not what it's
not what we think. I would hope it's not what
(03:24):
you think. But he's still not been fired yet the
person that did it. What do you think about?
Speaker 3 (03:30):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (03:31):
First of all, do you agree with his characterization of
Campbell's soup? It's chicken, and it's people.
Speaker 3 (03:37):
And it's three D printed. Is the biggest thing that
came from?
Speaker 2 (03:39):
What does that even mean? How do you three D print?
Speaker 3 (03:42):
I didn't know you could three D print food. Is
this something that's going on that I hope not? Maybe
it's not even really food. I think that's the last
time I probably eat that. I can't believe this guy
still has a job. And why would you say that
out loud? You know you could like a one on
one I don't care. He still said it out loud
to somebody, you know that it could be recorded. That
was a really stupid move, Bryan.
Speaker 4 (04:01):
I mean, growing up, when you got sick, you had
a can of Campbell's Chicken noodle soup. It was kind
of all of our childhood growing up. And for this
guy to be a vice president see or whatever he's
representing that company.
Speaker 2 (04:12):
I don't care. If you're in a one on one conversation,
you still got to believe it is a legend. He's
but the tape she she brought it up, said there's
a tape. Wow, yeah, but so uh, I mean it
is worth noting. I'm just telling you the story. I
didn't hear it. They don't lie well, I mean, be
careful saying that as we get into the AI world.
Speaker 3 (04:30):
Yeah, we're guaranteed humans. I heard the promo of today.
Speaker 5 (04:34):
Yes, I disagree with their product is for pores. I
think everyone has had Campbell soup.
Speaker 2 (04:38):
Campbell did until the until I thought their chicken maybe
from a printer.
Speaker 5 (04:42):
That being said, as much as I love that chicken
noodle soup, I've always wondered what mystery meat I'm eating
when I have that that.
Speaker 2 (04:48):
Is not chicken.
Speaker 3 (04:48):
Outside of chicken noodle soup, what is it like cream
of mushroom? They had that's good, But you know, chicken
noodle was the only one I ever really had.
Speaker 2 (04:58):
Speaking of things in cans, I am told that yesterday
at the iHeart Thanksgiving lunch, which I had to miss
due to uh do to the funeral. I am told
that Shannon for the pot luck, brought one can of
unopened green beans.
Speaker 3 (05:17):
That's true, that's a lot more effort than I usually
put into it. Usually I only bring my appetite.
Speaker 2 (05:23):
So you didn't even open the can. Why don't you
just set the can one.
Speaker 3 (05:29):
That way you get you know, it's a can good.
They said, bring a can good and you can you
can eat at the iHeart.
Speaker 2 (05:35):
Oh, so what can good was for? Like charity? It wasn't, well,
actually eat, It wasn't for the people.
Speaker 3 (05:41):
It was for the people. I just here's the thing.
They had two other dishes full of green beans, and
I said, why do you need my green beans? We
already have two dishes of green beans.
Speaker 2 (05:48):
But you just know that you didn't know that before
you got there.
Speaker 3 (05:51):
No, but I just wanted to show that there was
an effort there, that I did bring something.
Speaker 2 (05:55):
But is that really an effort to bring just an
unopened mister?
Speaker 3 (05:59):
Don't act like you've never showed up the Thanksgiving dinner
and you didn't bring anything either in years past. I
know you didn't.
Speaker 2 (06:04):
But see, I would argue that bringing nothing drew is
better than bringing an unopened like a literally a can
of green What are they supposed to even do with what?
Speaker 3 (06:13):
There was no can opener? It's not my fault. Somebody
had a can opener. I could open them up, put
them in the microwave. Boom, we got green beans.
Speaker 2 (06:20):
How much side with you? If you don't bring anything,
you can act surprise that it's done.
Speaker 5 (06:24):
Oh, I didn't know I was supposed to bring you
all my I'm sorry. Do you mind if I part six?
But you actually like thought it out and still pull you.
Speaker 3 (06:30):
Don't want to eat anything I cook. I can promise
you that I was actually doing everybody a favor. You
should be thinking me.
Speaker 2 (06:35):
I'm really a he that worked hard broad dishes. I
genuinely thought, in all my days of hearing potluck meals,
Ryan bringing an unopened can of green beans was the
worst contribution I've ever heard that it was.
Speaker 3 (06:48):
It was pot bad luck for them. They didn't get
any green beans for me.
Speaker 4 (06:51):
And we can all can visualize it, Shan walking down
the hallway.
Speaker 3 (06:54):
All right, I got my side dish.
Speaker 2 (06:55):
Put it on the table, Load me up, where's my plate?
Speaker 3 (06:58):
It's all good, I'm good. We had had plenty of food,
like there were so many leftovers. Why contribute to more
food being thrown away?
Speaker 2 (07:04):
What did you let someone else do it? Did you
take the can home? No, it's done, so now somebody
has to deal with.
Speaker 3 (07:09):
It's probably right there with Rick. Rick is that can
still there?
Speaker 2 (07:13):
Still right here?
Speaker 3 (07:16):
So if you get hungry, Rick, there's some green beans.
Speaker 2 (07:18):
Rick. Yeah, I was with me. That's your problem. Rick.
Out of curiosity? What did you bring to the meal?
Speaker 1 (07:26):
I wasn't able to make it, so I didn't bring anything.
Speaker 2 (07:29):
Okay, that's better contribution than what Shannon, Uh than what
Shannon did. Second, did you hear about what happened Ryan
at Arizona State University? Uh? Last weekend? Tell me about it.
So they went to a bar at Arizona State that
is known for letting in underage kids, like kids under
(07:49):
twenty one to be able to drink, and the police
showed up, and you know sometimes they'll do this to
like take the fake id's or whatever. The Tempe, Arizona
police went further. They arrested two hundred and forty nine
students at once for drinking underage. There are great pictures
online of all of these students just sitting there crying.
(08:13):
They end up releasing all of them, but they all
got they all got booked. I think they got process
and arrested. I don't know if they just like brought
buses and took them all to I don't know how
literally they got all of them to the thing, but
they essentially arrested the entire bar. The bar owner gave
a statement where he was like, this is ridiculous. How
(08:35):
am I supposed to keep this bar open if people
know that two hundred and fifty people get arrested. And
I mean my answer to him would be, don't let
in two hundred and fifty people who are underage. But
what do you make of two hundred and fifty people
being arrested at the same bar at the same time
for underage drinking?
Speaker 4 (08:53):
You know, there's always that one bar you can kind
of sneak in, but somebody to let two hundred and
fifty people in on one nice The bouncer Harris checking
those IDs must be blind. He's not doing his job
out there.
Speaker 2 (09:02):
Well, I blame him, or they don't even try. But
what do you what do you think of that?
Speaker 5 (09:06):
I saw the video. It's madness. How they just do
that big bust and get everybody.
Speaker 2 (09:10):
H How did did you see? I never saw. How
did they take him to the jay?
Speaker 6 (09:13):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (09:13):
I saw a lot of guys with like the zip ties.
I guess I'm just going around and slapping them on everybody.
Speaker 4 (09:19):
It's all of them in the back of the paddywagon.
Speaker 3 (09:21):
Link let's go. How do you keep that bar open?
I mean it has to shut down.
Speaker 2 (09:25):
Yeah, two hundred and forty nine's a lot. I mean
that's yeah.
Speaker 3 (09:27):
It's one thing to let one or two slide through.
Speaker 2 (09:29):
Yeah, that's a lot. Well, I do think you will
have a hard time getting the crowd going forward. Who's
up next?
Speaker 1 (09:35):
Johnny Fersachi is up next?
Speaker 2 (09:37):
Johnny Versachi? It's Kentucky Louisville week. I expected to hear
from you. What's up? You know, man, Vince Marrow is
dead to me? Hey, what do you mean he's dead
to you? He's like he gave a lot of years
here are you, like, are you completely just he's done?
Speaker 7 (09:55):
Yeah, you can't. You can't go Littleville. I'm what I'm
here to tell you is Stuke's is going into that
half empty peak seat hellscape on Saturday and put Brown
firmly on the hot seat.
Speaker 2 (10:10):
Well that's a good question, Johnny. About attendance. I mean,
I actually think this might be a sad attendance at noon.
Neither team's fan base really wants to go. You know,
I'm with you. I actually think it could be bad.
I appreciate the call they you know Brom. I don't
think Brom's on the hot seat, Ryan, But like, if
(10:32):
he were to lose this game and they finished the
season with four straight losses and all their team quits,
it would not be good for Jeffery.
Speaker 4 (10:40):
Yeah, they've lost three in a row, and you're right
if they show up and quit and don't give effort,
kind of like what we did last year to them.
His name is still out there for like Penn State,
like some other jobs. He may lose that opportunity.
Speaker 2 (10:50):
And one of their top recruits is from the city
of Louisville. Grew up a Louisville fan from Saint X
and just decommitted from the school. I'm the City of Louisville,
which you know, right, Drew. That's kind of that's kind
of wild.
Speaker 5 (11:05):
Yeah, Mary Flippmas on that commitment. His parents were Louisville
season ticket holders for a long time, might still be.
So that's a tough look for him. People are mad
when he went and got Miller Moss. There are a
lot of people like, this guy's not good. Why are
we doing this? I guess he thought he could turn
him into something that's been a big disappointment. I'm not
two in tune with how Louisville fans feel, but it
seems like they're really starting to turn a little bit
(11:26):
or sour on Bram at least for a year.
Speaker 2 (11:28):
Can we talk about something Ryan that I just want
to throw out there? Throw it, you know. I don't
want to be no bad mojo. It's Louisville Week, but
this is the last show we're doing before the game
on Saturday until the pregame show. I'm hearing maybe through
the grapevine that there were some people that didn't love
(11:51):
Mark Stoops coming out and saying cut her bowl. He's
one hundred percent back. I mean I think that. I
think he is very very likely back, but maybe some
people didn't like putting those words into his mouth. And
I think it's very interesting that yesterday they did the
offensive players press conference before the Louisville game, and virtually
(12:15):
every time they do one of these, understandably the quarterback speaks.
The quarterback was not brought out yesterday for the Kentucky
Louisville pregame Offensive Players Press Conference. You think there's anything
to my the rumblings we said this on the show.
Speaker 4 (12:33):
I think it was really unfair to cut her kind
of throw him under the bus like that. So now
all the pressure's on him if something happens and maybe
he doesn't come back. I mean, we're just gonna well.
Speaker 2 (12:42):
I mean, I think he's gonna be back, but if
he doesn't come back, Drew Yep, Mark Stoops really just
threw him under the bus by saying that, because it's
gonna look like he changed, even though he didn't say anything.
I think that was a huge mistake. And I'm gonna
tell you, whatever happens, that's why he wasn't at that
(13:02):
press conference. Definitely, And and and I like Mark that
was that he shouldn't have done that in my opinion,
what do you think? Yeah, and yesterday should have been
the day for Bowley? Was it not? Last year?
Speaker 5 (13:15):
His first career start was Louisville, he was gone by halftime,
had his worst game ever. I mean, this is a
redemption week for him. He's the reason whatever you think
of the year, he's the reason at least flipped to
be somewhat positive the last few weeks. I mean, that
should have been the guy at the podium yesterday. But
it's obvious that that rattled some some feather.
Speaker 2 (13:32):
Footway or another. And if counter Bowley had said Shannon,
I'm coming back, feel free to say it, coach, then
that's fine, right, And and I guess there's a chance
he said that, but I kind of heard maybe that's
not what happened that, you know. And if it's not
what happened, if you were his parents or you were him,
(13:53):
would you be frustrated?
Speaker 3 (13:54):
Oh yeah, if I didn't say that to him, and
not only say it to him, but let's say, let's
say he did say yeah, I'm coming back, but say
I don't want you to say that publicly yet, and
then Stoops did. That's a bad look. So yeah, I
don't really know what you gain if you're Mark Stoops
and saying that cutter ball.
Speaker 2 (14:08):
I know what you gain. You get people off your
back for a minute. That's what it was about. Yeah,
I mean that's why I did it. Yeah I did it.
Speaker 3 (14:15):
Either way, Well, it's still a bad look if you're
doing it just for that, if you're using another player
to get people off your back, that's still a bad look.
Speaker 2 (14:21):
I think. For I totally agree, but Ryan don't you
think that's probably why I did it.
Speaker 4 (14:24):
I think that's exactly why he did it. Look, I'm
my quarterback is coming back. He said he was gonna,
you know, come back for another year, so I am too.
Speaker 3 (14:31):
We don't know if he's kept. We don't know if
Stoops is coming back next year, and he.
Speaker 2 (14:34):
No I mean Stoops may know or may think.
Speaker 3 (14:38):
Well, yeah, he may think he knows. It may not
be his decision.
Speaker 4 (14:41):
If you're needs bull back, if he's back, If you're
Cutter and you're meeting with your head coach the week
before the Louisville game, what are you gonna say when
he asked to talk to you? Guys are talking like
no coach, I'm thinking about sports after next year.
Speaker 2 (14:52):
I would say this. The worst possible scenario for UK
football I could imagine is Mark Stoops coming back and
Cutter Bowie transfer. That would be the worst. Mark Stoops
coming back with Cutter Bowlie. It is what it is.
Some of us think that should happen. Some of us
(15:12):
should Cutter Bowley coming back. No Mark Stoops or no
Cutter or no Mark Stoops, all of those can work.
But Mark coming back when no Cutter drew this fan
base will be not happy.
Speaker 5 (15:28):
And you gotta think, you know, I don't love the
young offense as much as Ryan. I'm not gonna call
him young and hot and start sweating talking about him here,
even though you are cooking there for a minute.
Speaker 2 (15:36):
But a lot of.
Speaker 5 (15:37):
Those guys that we like that are a big part
of the future are Bowie guys, Gilmore Rodriguez. Oh, and
I kind of see it as if he comes back,
they come back.
Speaker 2 (15:44):
But if he were to leave, there's a lot there's
a lot of people that tell you Willie Rodriguez, Cutter
Bowley are like, whatever happens, they're doing it together.
Speaker 5 (15:53):
And so that's that's a big one. That's how it
was with the three of them in high school. Were
very close before they even got to campus.
Speaker 2 (15:58):
Bourbon lovers, you don't want to miss the Comonwealth Causes.

back here, Don Franklin, Ford's KSR work, Go back. It
is Kentucky Sports Radio here live, Don Franklin Auto A
five nine two twenty two eighty seven. Let's go through
(16:43):
a couple of scheduled things real quick. The pregame show
today starts at four point thirty Eastern. Game is at
seven o'clock. It'll be at Ksbar. Come on out and
join us before the game. You can come watch the
game at the bar as well. If you got your
family home from Thanksgiving, you can get out of the
house for a little bit go watch the game. I'll
have some tickets to give away during the pregame show
(17:03):
as well. And then fast forward to Saturday. Our pregame
show will be at nine am. Okay for Kentucky Louisville,
so it'll be at nine am, So keep that in mind.
For Saturday. I'm gonna have you all do the legal question.
Are you ready this is not what the law is.
What would it be if you could decide it? Okay,
(17:24):
there's an election in Tennessee next week for Congress. It's
next Tuesday, okay, and the election is in a district
that's very pro Trump. But for whatever reason, this election
is going to be close. It's a special election for Congress,
so both sides are really mobilizing for it. The Republican candidate,
(17:46):
one of the groups supporting him, sent out election flyers
this week that acted like they were for the Democrat
but said go vote, and then gave a date to
a week later. So the election was like the it's
gonna be like the fourth and it said if you
(18:07):
want to vote for whatever the Democrat's name was, come
vote on the eleventh. Now here's my question for you.
It is unclear. I won't go into the law, but
it's unclear whether that's legal. It's not certain that it's illegal,
but it's also not certain that it's legal. So here's
my question for you, is, if you were in charge,
(18:30):
do you think sending out intentionally, sending out the wrong
date to vote and acting like it was your opponent
that did it should be legal.
Speaker 3 (18:40):
Shit, Yeah, it should be illegal. You should be able
to do that. That's called gamesmanship. If you don't know
what election day is, that is on you for being
a bad citizen. You should know when election day is.
You know, you don't go vote on the eleventh for
election day, So it should be legal.
Speaker 2 (18:55):
Okay. Do you remember when we talked to Ryan before
every election about who he's gonna vote for. Yeah, you
would probably believe that, fly, wouldn't you.
Speaker 4 (19:03):
A lot of the things I vote on what I
get in the mail and what sign I see out
in the yard. So if I get something in the
mail tells me it's on eleventh, I think it's on
the eleven, then you're the target demo.
Speaker 2 (19:13):
This is the target demo right here.
Speaker 3 (19:16):
Yeah, a budget buffoons.
Speaker 2 (19:19):
So that's what I'm saying. That's election fraud.
Speaker 4 (19:21):
They're trying to fraudulently, you know, create a situation where
I think it's the wrong day.
Speaker 2 (19:26):
That's fraud. Okay, So Shannon is legal, Ryan is illegal.
So I will let the final vote come to Frank.
Is this illegal or illegal?
Speaker 5 (19:37):
We don't need Frank Drew answer this one. This is easy.
I'm with Shannon. If you can't figure out election down
on your own, I'd rather you not vote anyway. Yeah,
Like if you're falling for a flyer, I mean, that's
on you. So I think it's a great tactic.
Speaker 2 (19:48):
Actually all right, so I will I lean towards you
all with one exception. I think what would make it
make me make it illegal is that he acted like
the other guy sent it right, Like if he just
so he he literally acted like he was the other person.
And that's the part I don't like. Like telling the
(20:09):
wrong date, I'm kind of with you. Yeah, if you
don't know what the date is, that's on you. But
to act like for me to go Ryan Lemmon says
it's this date and it's me that's saying it. That's
the part that I think is kind of fraudile.
Speaker 3 (20:23):
So that the person I potentially could vote for doesn't
even know the election date in this and.
Speaker 2 (20:27):
You're basically line and you're basically so I would say, Now,
if you just sent it generically, it just said remember
to go vote, and you had that date, then I'm
fine with it.
Speaker 3 (20:36):
We live in a world of AI where you got
to like, you know, make sure that you know it's
legit when you look at something, and that's your responsible.
Speaker 2 (20:43):
Literally tell the story. This was the person that I
thought this was. It would happen to you.
Speaker 4 (20:49):
I make up my mind who I'm voting for as
I drive to the polling place.
Speaker 2 (20:53):
You acknowledge it's how many signs you see?
Speaker 3 (20:55):
Yeah, but you would in question why you're voting a
week later after election day.
Speaker 4 (20:59):
I guess so I would pull up when nothing's there.
I think I might realize.
Speaker 2 (21:03):
Well, but I mean the election would have finished a
week before. Presumably you would have seen that it was over.
He would have heard on the pre show who won?
Whoa you like that? Who's up next? Go ahead? Sad?
Speaker 8 (21:19):
Hey guys, Hey guys, how you doing?
Speaker 2 (21:24):
Yeah, dont remember? We just just go yes, okay.
Speaker 8 (21:28):
Uh. My thing you guys were talking about earlier about
like the power forward session for basketball, Kim Williams, I
think andre Yellovitch needs to get more run at that spot.
Speaker 2 (21:39):
And then what do you think? What do you think
about that? Go ahead? Finish what you're saying.
Speaker 8 (21:45):
Yeah, And also you guys were talking about Jaden Quiton
and Jalen low would hope with all of our issues.
Jalen Lowe last year was a top ten point guard
last year when it came to pick and rolls and
we ran, so MANI pick and rolls and we need
to get back to some of the zoomc See.
Speaker 2 (22:03):
You don't have to convince me on Jalen Low. I
mean to me, if Jalen Low doesn't come back, I mean,
I'm gonna enjoy the season and hope the good things happen,
but my chances of this being a special year go
way down if we lose Jayalen Low. What about Yellovich
at the four? Drew, I mean, uh, I appreciate the call.
What about Yellovich at the four?
Speaker 5 (22:20):
I've been predicting for two weeks his breakthrough is coming.
I'm a little behind, but I want to see a
lot more of him. And the caller said he needs
to get more run. I think he's running a lot
in practice. He was touching the top of the building
where we were at both practices. Pope called him out
Saturday by name, said he's gonna be running in practice.
So he's still getting the hang of a lot of things.
He was interviewed yesterday and said, I'm literally learning and
(22:40):
getting better each day as he's getting acclimated everything. So
I'm still counting on there being more there, and tonight's
the good Night's get him an opportunity.
Speaker 2 (22:47):
Here's what I'm excited about, Yellovich when I watch big
Z play, and I mean, it's just natural we compare
him because same country, right. I never really felt like
big Z was ever going to be one hundred percent
comfortable on the court, and even now the he I'll
know he's not starting like it's but Yellovich, you can
see it right like he can slide his feet. You
can see him playing defense at this level and not
(23:09):
looking out of place. So I do think that's a possibility.
It can work.
Speaker 4 (23:12):
He's much better on than devinsitve vand I think the
most of us thought he was guarding the one a
couple times and did a good jobb stand in front
of the guy.
Speaker 2 (23:18):
He may not shoot as well as say big Z did,
but in terms of being able to play on defense,
I actually think he's got a lot more potential in
that regard. We'll take a break and be right back
here at Don Franklin in Columbia's KSR. Welcome back, It
is Kentucky Sports Radio. Here at Don Franklin, Ford and Columbia.
Don Franklin, as I said, if you buy a vehicle
(23:40):
here at Don Franklin, Columbia today, two years of free
maintenance today if you do it. So, any of you here,
if you're in the area, come on and join us.
I have to tell you how much I love Ryan Lemon.
This is an example why I love Ryan Limit. We're
sitting there watching the game last night at the bar,
and Ryan Limon goes, he shows me his phone and
(24:02):
he goes, look who just texted me? And so of
course I would think it would be like a person,
you know, somebody knows, and it was this text that said, Hi,
I'm Senator Mark Kelly, blah blah blah, Donald Trump's coming
after me, blah blah blah blah blah, send money here.
But the way Ryan said it acted like he thought
(24:23):
he had literally just texted me like his senator in Arizona, Like, hey,
you know who I should ask for help, Ryan Limit.
And then so you just came in here this morning
and he just looked at me and he goes, you
know that guy that texted me. He was on Jimmy
Kimmel last night. And I was like, Ryan, it's like
(24:45):
the head news story in America right now, Like it's
the number one news story. Why are you so surprised?
And I love that about you. I love this sort
of your head's like this guy texted me and now
he's on TV. I like that about you. You just
you're so happy. That makes me happy. I had never
heard of this guy. I knew nothing about the story.
(25:08):
After I get the text you're telling me about him.
He's on Jimmy Kimmel. It's the lead news story this
morning on all the news reports. Like, you never heard
of this guy? I really must like you. Yeah, you
may send me another text today. It definitely was not
a bot or anything. Who's definitely not a generic text.
This was he Uh, way too many words in that text, doll.
Speaker 4 (25:25):
There's a lot of words. I didn't get through all of it.
Speaker 3 (25:27):
Did you donate? Oh no, Oh okay.
Speaker 2 (25:30):
I streamed a game or anything? Question? If he had
streamed a game, I'm donating, that's uh Saturday. Is Lane
Kiffin a old miss rebel? Is he an LSU Tiger?
Or is he a Florida Gator?
Speaker 3 (25:47):
Old Miss Rebel? I think he stays where he's at
right there. I think that's a good spot where it's
not too much pressure. But it's still a good program.
I think he stays where he is, true.
Speaker 5 (25:55):
I'm really torn. I could see him staying, but LSU
has put so much money out there. I will lean LSU.
But if I were him, I would really consider stand put,
just because the expectations in each place.
Speaker 4 (26:06):
I lean LSU two fifteen million. They just recently won
a national title. He got a chance to win one
when you go over there. I don't know if they
can get over the hump at Old Miss. He's got
him in the playoff, but can you win a national title?
He can at LSU. I think he's going there.
Speaker 2 (26:20):
I think he's going to LSU too. I think if
he was, if he was gonna stay, I think the
comments from the ad about let's get through the egg bowl,
et cetera. So all right, so let's say the three
of us are correct and he goes to LSU. Does
he coach Old Miss through the playoff? I would hope?
Speaker 3 (26:38):
So, I mean, but you would you want him? Yeah,
he's still the guy who got you there.
Speaker 2 (26:42):
Okay, so you would want him to coach your team
all the way through the Yes, Okay, definitely.
Speaker 5 (26:46):
He can't go to LSU to win a national championship
when he's literally coaching for a national championship. Now, I
mean it's unlikely, but he could have one in a
couple months at Old Miss, So he he couldn't leave
them in the playoff if they're not If they fall
out of the playoff and they're just in a regular bowl, maybe,
but not.
Speaker 2 (26:59):
Mis State though they're gonna be in the playoff, I
think he can't walk away from the opportunity to win
one there.
Speaker 4 (27:04):
Drew's exactly right. You got to see this through. It's
gonna be tough because, like he's gonna be trying to
recruit what lot at LSU. He may have a lot
of sleepless nights, but it's you made the bed man,
now you gotta lie in it right now.
Speaker 2 (27:14):
It's projected that Old Miss would host a playoff game
at in Oxford when they announce his name if he
is going to LSU. Will the crowd cheer if hosts
a playoff game after he's already announced he's going to.
Speaker 3 (27:31):
Ls She's a great question and again another awkward situation.
I could see there being a good mix of both.
I think some fans would cheer him because they appreciate
the fact that they're in the play.
Speaker 2 (27:41):
First time they've been in this situation since nineteen sixty
or something.
Speaker 3 (27:45):
I could also see the other end of the spectrum
where there's fans that are upset that he's leaving.
Speaker 2 (27:49):
Would you cheer him if you were there, like if
this situation, would you go all right, let's go? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (27:55):
Yeah, I think so.
Speaker 2 (27:56):
Mark Stoops gets us to a playoff game, but announces
before the game he's gonna go coach at Ohio State
next year. Are you cheering? Yeah? Absolutely, Yeah, definitely they
got a cheer for him. I mean, if we didn't
cheer Arkansas, we didn't cheer for.
Speaker 3 (28:10):
Col then he lost the first round.
Speaker 2 (28:12):
Yeah. In fact, he's a national championship.
Speaker 3 (28:15):
We forgot about that. It was a long time ago.
Speaker 2 (28:17):
He didn't leave actively while it's in front of him.
That's true, he didn't leave. You still have the goal
of the interview. He didn't leave like right after he
won a national championship. This is like the peak of
Wayne Kiffing.
Speaker 5 (28:27):
He left off that after that awkward Mitch Barnhart interview,
which is also on all list.
Speaker 4 (28:31):
If our football coach gets us to the playoffs, he
can go wherever he wants, and I'm gonna pat him
on the back and kiss him on the cheek and
say good luck.
Speaker 3 (28:39):
Go out there, go do it, all right?
Speaker 2 (28:41):
So? Uh so, so you all we think the l
s U you think? O? Miss? Yes? Yeah, Well we'll
find out who's next. Carl is up next, Carl? Go ahead, Carl.
Speaker 9 (28:52):
Yeah. Are you aware that James robbed the banks and
plumbere on the square in Plumby.
Speaker 2 (29:01):
I actually had heard that before one of the trips here.
I think someone told.
Speaker 9 (29:05):
Me that, Yeah, the bank ain't no longer there, but
Jason shot a hole in the wall, and for years
nobody passed that hole. I don't want to.
Speaker 2 (29:17):
That's where I remember. I do remember that. It's allegedly
they kept that hole for a while. That sounds like
a wives tale, but I'll believe it.
Speaker 6 (29:27):
Yeah.
Speaker 9 (29:27):
Well, I've seen the whole years ago, but I don't
know about now whether it's still there or not.
Speaker 2 (29:32):
Did you all right? Well, if you say so, I'm
not going to question you.
Speaker 9 (29:38):
All right, thank you, y'all?
Speaker 2 (29:40):
All right?
Speaker 3 (29:41):
There you go to the hole.
Speaker 2 (29:43):
Yeah, listen, it's strange that we like those facts, although
I do think I feel like we talk about this
with Abraham Lincoln. There's like twenty towns in this state
that claim something about Abraham Lincoln. And then there's like
one hundred and fifty cities or maybe two under around
America that claimed Jesse James did something in their town.
I mean, these these people act like these are very prolific.
Speaker 3 (30:07):
And it seems like for a criminal, people seem to
really love Jesse James. I mean, he shot up a
bank and we're gonna keep the whole. We don't want
to patch the hole up because of Jesse James.
Speaker 2 (30:14):
But there is weird like sometimes in America criminals get south.
I mean, think about the dude up in New York,
the Luigi guy like it, like, I mean, he did
something awful, yet there's people who celebrate him like I mean,
I you know, sometimes I guess people just do that.
Speaker 4 (30:30):
I think Abraham Lincoln and Jesse James must have been
in every single town in this state. One did good,
one did bad, then they go to the next state.
You seem like they're all over the place.
Speaker 2 (30:38):
I think I just said that. Yeah, I mean almost
the exact almost the exact same thing.
Speaker 5 (30:48):
Do you think the people that were shot at are
proud that they're honoring the hole, like that could have
killed me and you're celebrating this.
Speaker 3 (30:54):
Should should we go find the whole after the show today?
Speaker 2 (30:56):
Yeah, that wouldn't be. I don't like if I didn't
find it very funny. It's probably not like your career.
If the city of Louisville made the like shots behind.
Speaker 3 (31:06):
Craig Green, Yeah, That's what I'm saying. It's weird.
Speaker 2 (31:09):
Craig would be like, hang on, He's like, yeah.
Speaker 3 (31:11):
Let's not patch that up.
Speaker 2 (31:12):
Let's keep that there as a reminder. It would be
I think they should patch it up. Who's next? Dylan
is next? Dylan? Go ahead? Dylan?
Speaker 6 (31:21):
Hey, Matt, first time caller here?
Speaker 2 (31:24):
Uh? Who are Uh?
Speaker 6 (31:27):
I got a question? So, like the biggest thing for
me about with stoops is I feel like as a
fan base, we accept like mediocrity, So like what sets
the rest of the sec up for success is like
they their expectations as a fan base as a whole. So,
like my question is, do you think, like if we
(31:47):
keep stoops, do you think we ever have a chance
at like say the playoffs or anything like that.
Speaker 2 (31:55):
That's loaded questions. So I appreciate the call. Do I
think that we have a chance at the playoff if
Mark Stoops were to come back. Probably not. But I
also would say to you that there have been years
in Mark stoops tenure where we would have been a
contender for the playoff. There would have been two years
where Kentucky would have been either in the playoff or
(32:18):
like one of the first couple teams left out. Do
I have confidence that where the program is now and
in the current structure, that Mark would do that. Probably not.
But I also don't think you can just act like
he never would have had a shot at that. I
also would say this about programs, and I think this
is really important. Ryan, You've heard me say this over
(32:41):
and over. College football is a different sport today, completely
different sport today than it was four years ago. Four
years ago, I would have looked at you and said
Kentucky has no chance of ever being a contender. I
said it for years. It's a different world now. It's
a different world. Within IL, It's like a salary cap
(33:05):
in the NFL. If it was a free market, the
Kansas City Chiefs could never be dominant. But in the
NFL there's a salary cap. So with a salary cap,
you can get a guy like Mahomes, and the Chiefs
can be good for fifteen straight years. I think Kentucky
football do. I think it has as good a chance
as LSU Albert and of course not, there's a reason
(33:27):
Kitfin's considering leaving old Miss Relsu. But as Vandy and
Indiana has shown us in this new world, we actually
have a chance. And because we actually have a chance,
then I think you have to pick a coach that
you think will give you that chance. I'm not sure
if Stoops is that guy, but my expectations Ryan, of
(33:50):
what can be done have changed here dramatically in the
Nile era.
Speaker 4 (33:56):
Yeah, at this point in time, my program is not
anywhere close to making the playoffs. Oh but who's to
say they can't get a Diego Pavio one year and
maybe ride him to a playoff run at some point.
I mean, he has to nine wins in a regular
season twice. Who's to say he can't do it again
with the right with the right personnel.
Speaker 2 (34:12):
I mean those two years we won nine games drew.
There were games in those seasons where it could have
gone the other way, and a ten win Kentucky team
has a really good chance.
Speaker 5 (34:22):
In a playoff, so why not. You know, I'm with you,
But Stoops is good years. We're in the recruit and
develop era, Like our best players were freshmen that he developed,
some guys he took gambles on, like a Lynn Bowden
that you know, had some issues in high school and
he took a chance. But now the world has completely changed,
and since it's changed, we are way behind. And I
don't think there's any ignoring that the door opened for
(34:43):
teams a couple of years ago, and vand and Indiana
jumped right in and we kicked around, and we're still
not where we need to be. I mean, stoops To
kind of said this week without saying it that the
money ain't great. He said, there's a lot of teams
out there with money right now, and we're listen.
Speaker 2 (34:57):
I'm not saying Stoops is the right guy, but I
do this is the first time in my life that
I felt like, with the right guy, you could build
a program. Yeah, because I never felt that way before.
I actually think that is potentially true now. But guess
what it's true for all these schools though, Yeah, you
know what I mean, Like it's all the every school
has a chance now, I actually think the NIL has
(35:20):
done the exact opposite of what people thought. People thought
it was gonna separate the programs. I think it's actually
brought them closer together. I think it's given people a
chance that they wouldn't have had otherwise. Stop overpaying for sunglasses.

Speaker 2 (36:49):
Well tell him to Bob, turn your voice down, don't
encourage him, sir, Bogo b O g O Cornbread Hem. Okay,
let's go. We're gonna pick our Draft Kings Parlay. Ryan
has been booted from the parlay for losing it yet again.
We've won two. We would have won three if Ryan
(37:11):
wasn't in it. So he's out, so Billy's gonna replace him.
I'm gonna go first this week. I went last last week.
I'm going to take Auburn. Excuse me. Alabama is giving
up six and a half at Auburn, but they gotta
make They have to win to make the playoff, they're
gonna win. Auburn's gonna quit halfway through the game. So
I will take Alabama UH to cover the six and
(37:31):
a half and win in the Iron Bowl. Shit, Auburn
was my pick.
Speaker 3 (37:35):
Yeah, that's what I was gonna go with as well.
Speaker 2 (37:36):
So you're gonna go Alabama or Alabama. I'm with you.
Speaker 3 (37:39):
I think that's a good pick.
Speaker 2 (37:40):
All right.
Speaker 3 (37:40):
Let me jump over to Clemson. South Carolina don't have
the points spread. I think that was like three for Clemson.
Speaker 2 (37:48):
Three and a half for South Carolina.
Speaker 3 (37:50):
Yeah, so give me give me Clemson on the road
with the points.
Speaker 2 (37:53):
You like that one? Yeah, I don't know. All right,
pick your pick. So you're taking clips in the cover
of three and a half on the road, Billy, do
you have yours? I was going with Auburn.
Speaker 3 (38:03):
I do have mine, and this is the team that
ruined the parlay last week.
Speaker 4 (38:07):
I'm taking pitt at home plus seven versus Miami.
Speaker 2 (38:11):
All right, I'm okay with that one. I'll tell you what,
since you don't even like my pick, let me switch.
We'll get rid of Alabama Auburn. I'll take big on Auburn.
I'll take Tennessee to cover against Vandy. Tennessee's at home.
I think they're gonna cover against Vandy. Games in Rocky Top, Diego.
Pave's mom got a little too saucy for mainstream America
last week, so she'll take it down the notch and
(38:33):
I'm gonna take Tennessee to cover against Vandy. So we
will boot Auburn Alabama out of it.
Speaker 5 (38:40):
That one I'm going. I'm going with the dog in
the Egg Bowl, Mississippi State at home getting a touchdown.
Lane Kiffin's got a foot out the door. MISSISISPPI State's
played a lot of close games. This is one of
those rivalries where it doesn't matter what they've done all year,
it is always a war. I will go with Mississippi
State getting a touchdown at home on Thanksgiving.
Speaker 2 (38:59):
All right, thank you very much. Bill.
Speaker 5 (39:00):
Wait, that's we're doing Saturday games. I'm sorry, that's that's before.
Let me do Missouri getting all right two and a half.
Missouri's a two and a half point favorite at Arkansas.
I'll take Missouri. Drew did say before we started channing
he had plenty of picks. Dude, Well, I had Auburn
and then I had that one in Missouri's mother one,
so I'm going to my third.
Speaker 2 (39:15):
They're a two and a half point favorite against Arkansas.
I like Missouri, so I guess we have Missouri, pitt Tennessee,
and what was your shanta? Clemson? All right, Missouri, pit
Tennessee and Clemson. Thank you very much, Billy. All right,
let's talk about the Kentucky games. We'll start with the
basketball game. First of all, the women's team plays tonight
as well. I think they're at six thirty is that right?
(39:36):
Five thirty in Puerto Rico? In Puerto Rico. Somehow this
game is not on television or it's on something called
flow sports, which is not something I think I have.
But they're playing against a Big ten team, playing against Maryland,
so good luck to them. But let's go to the
basketball game. What do you think the score is tonight?
Speaker 4 (39:53):
John Pelfrey bringing Tennessee Tech in. I think this bread
was like thirty seven, and it may be worse than that.
I think I'm gonna go one hundred and four.
Speaker 2 (40:01):
Sixty five thirty nine points.
Speaker 5 (40:03):
All right, The women are five to thirty on flow Sports.
For all you Flow Sports subscribers, cats won't get into
one hundred but I'll say they get close ninety six
sixty two and walker Horn gets his first career points tonight.
Speaker 2 (40:15):
He's been so close. I love he is not Hillshet.
You're a big walker Horn fan. You gave me. You're
the only person I've ever seen give walker Horn applause.
You just how you just like to clap? Some people
going there and dribble and milk the clock. He's out
there fire. Some people enjoy clapping. I like that. All right,
go ahead, all right, I'm.
Speaker 3 (40:31):
Gonna say eighty four forty five Cats blowout.
Speaker 2 (40:34):
I'm gonna say ninety four fifty seven Cats. Fo. Let's
go to the football big game, I mean the postgame
show on Saturday. I don't know what I'm gonna be
dealing with. We might be dealing with celebrating a big
victory and a bowl game. We might be dealing with
(40:55):
a close loss. We might be dealing with a fan
base that is in revolt. I mean, there's absolute no
way what it's gonna to know what it's gonna be
like Saturday. What do you think is going to happen
there in Louis.
Speaker 4 (41:06):
I I'll pick Kentucky a winner. I'm gonna pick twenty
four to twenty one. Come down to the final minutes.
Maybe Calway gets the big field goal late in the
game to put us ahead twenty four to twenty.
Speaker 2 (41:16):
Do you like legitimately believe that is? Yeah? Bellet Okay, yeah,
all right, what do you think?
Speaker 5 (41:21):
I wish I could see our availability report. That's gonna
tell the whole story. I'm gonna assume more guys played
than they did a week ago, and that Louisville's and shambles.
I'll say thirty one twenty Kentucky.
Speaker 2 (41:32):
Oh, that's a big victory. Okay, I already bet the
alternate spread as high as it will go. All right,
good Shandon.
Speaker 3 (41:37):
Think it's gonna be a good game. And abatt who
wants it more? I'm gonna say Kentucky wins twenty three twenty.
Speaker 2 (41:44):
Yeah, I don't know. I mean, I think we could
kill him, and I think they could kill us. I
think it's all gonna be a mindset in terms of
who wants to be on there, who wants to win it.
I think the teams are relatively equal now that Louisvill's
lost a lot of guys, so I think it's just
gonna de depends on how excited they are. I think
whoever's winning at the end of the first quarter wins
(42:04):
the game going away. So I'm gonna say that's us,
So I'm gonna pick us to win thirty to seventeen,
But I also think it could easily be thirty to seventeen.
The other way. I think it's gonna be completely whoever
somebody's quitting in this game in the second half, and
the question is just which team quits, and then I
think that will be ultimately what decides big weekend. Tonight
(42:28):
we'll have the pregame and postgame. We will also have Saturday.
Thank you folks here in Columbia very much for coming
out a great crowd right before Thanksgiving here at Don Franklin.
We'll see at four thirty for the pregame. This is
Kentucky Sports Radio.
