Him to Hour two of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by
Stockton Mortgage. Now Here's Matt Jones quarterback.

Speaker 3 (01:06):
I renumber two Kentucky Sports Radio.

Speaker 4 (01:08):
If I'm nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven,
the text machine is seven seven two seventy four five
two five four. One person rides Matt. It's on Thursday
night football. Last night, Al Michael said Ty goes to
the runner. I was in my house correcting him as
he said it. I got many messages it does not
go to the runner. They said that shin And there
was a fumble and both teams recovered yep. And now

(01:29):
Michael said, I guess the team that I don't know.
I guess he meant the offensive team gets it, because
he said Ty goes to the runner, And I was
at home going, no, no, no, Ty goes to the fielder.

Speaker 2 (01:38):
Maybe in football it does, but in baseball, we learned yesterday,
Ty goes to the defense.

Speaker 4 (01:42):
So there were some people thought that, like it, never
heard anybody say that, but me, maybe it's just an
old man thing because how Michael said it Ryan yesterday
as well.

Speaker 1 (01:50):
I've heard it my whole life, Ty goes to the runner.
I've never heard of football ty goes to the offense.
First time I've heard this little controversy even come up.

Speaker 4 (01:58):
Yeah, it's clearly white listening to case, it does go
to the I know when you catch a pass, if
both guys catch it, it goes.

Speaker 3 (02:06):
To the receiver over the defender. I do know.

Speaker 4 (02:08):
I saw that happen in a game earlier US meetings.
Supposing that we had to go through It's right, we did.

Speaker 5 (02:15):
Uh, we know clearly out Michael says't listen enough, ks
are we cleared this up for everyone yesterday. Yeah, which
was quite shocking when we found out A nine two
eighth twenty two eighty seven. All right, A couple very
important things here. Number one, Travis Kelce was on a podcast.
He was asked about his relationship with Taylor Swift. This
is very important.

Speaker 4 (02:33):
He said that in two years of dating Taylor Swift,
they've never once fought. He was like, I've never one
time gotten in an argument.

Speaker 3 (02:41):
With her in two years.

Speaker 4 (02:43):
And Jason Kelsey's wife was like, shut up, that's impossible,
and he was like, no, never once, And she said,
no couple can date two years none and not getting
one argument. Do you believe you can go two years
dating anyone and not getting in the argument?

Speaker 1 (03:03):
No, just an argument? You haven't Yeah, argument you're gonna
have it. You're living together and just putting your underwear
on the floor, there is gonna be something that's gonna
cause a little argument.

Speaker 3 (03:14):
There's I mean, there was no reason to put that
was the example.

Speaker 4 (03:17):
I mean that's a perfect example because like he didn't
need to bring up underwear. He could have said anything.
You could argue about carrots, you could argue anything. There's
no reason to say underwear. You just want a reason
to say underwear. You just want to say that, and
like you get a little grin, like I got to
say underwear review. Look like I see it in your face.
It's not necessary. So you don't believe what about you? No,

(03:39):
I don't. I don't believe them at all. It's I'd
say they've had several. In fact, it makes me wonder
that she's like standing over his shoulders saying, tell them,
we've never had a fight.

Speaker 3 (03:48):
They've had to have fought at some point, have to Shannon.

Speaker 2 (03:52):
Yeah, I don't believe them either. I wonder, though, do
they live together? Because if you don't live together and Taylor's.

Speaker 3 (03:58):
They don't live together, maybe you cannot fine.

Speaker 2 (04:00):
Maybe they don't talk that much, you know, maybe just
on the phone. And there's nothing to argue about. Plus
she is Taylor Swift and she's got a lot of money,
so if you're Kelsey, you'll probably just shut up and
take it.

Speaker 3 (04:09):
So it sounds like you think it could have.

Speaker 2 (04:11):
It could if they don't live if they live together, no,
if you see them like twenty four to seven, no way.
But if you don't, maybe it's possible.

Speaker 4 (04:18):
So I was just sitting here trying to think about
my relationships in my life.

Speaker 3 (04:24):
And this may surprise you. I've never been one that
didn't have an argument.

Speaker 4 (04:31):
The person I dated in college, though, we argued almost never,
but that was because she was a really kind person.

Speaker 3 (04:41):
So I think it's plausible.

Speaker 4 (04:44):
But I do you know of a couple in your like,
do you know anyone that you think is your friend
that's a couple that has never argued?

Speaker 3 (04:54):
Because I don't.

Speaker 4 (04:55):
I was trying to like, my parents are the two
kindest people I know, literally, the two kindness people, and
they've argued.

Speaker 3 (05:02):
Sure, So I can't think of how you wouldn't argue.

Speaker 5 (05:05):
If there's a couple out there that's not arguing or
pretending to not argue, I expect to see them on
dateline in a few years, because that's just not what
I'm just gonna commit psychopaths if they don't have just
a general argument over something little too.

Speaker 3 (05:19):
Like you said, carrots, sometimes you have to argue over carrots.

Speaker 4 (05:22):
Yeah, sometimes the more little the thing, the worse there.

Speaker 3 (05:26):
Then you'll laugh about it and move on.

Speaker 4 (05:27):
I'm not gonna ask you Ryan if you've ever been
in an argument with your with your barrier, because I've
seen some. But uh, but yeah, I don't believe any
do you know of anyone?

Speaker 3 (05:39):
No?

Speaker 1 (05:39):
No, I I can use yoga girl and eis an example.
We hardly ever fight, but we have had arguments.

Speaker 3 (05:45):
I've seen you all argue. No you haven't.

Speaker 2 (05:49):
Not yoga girl, this Plate's girl.

Speaker 1 (05:54):
Hell, Plate's girl.

Speaker 3 (05:56):
I'm just gonna no comment. Uh.

Speaker 4 (05:59):
Well, so no, I don't believe them. I don't believe
that UK volleyball wins. Yesterday they beat cal Polly at
San Luis Obispo, destroyed him. I mean, first set was competitive,
by the third set they won twenty five to seven.
The blocking was not a successful venture. What about that
crowd basically a full crowd on a Thursday afternoon at

(06:23):
three o'clock.

Speaker 1 (06:24):
That was impressive. That was definitely a president to see
the place full. Then it got over like super quick.
I turned it on. It was already almost over the
third set.

Speaker 4 (06:31):
Yeah, I mean I I was late getting to it.
It was almost over when I turned it on. So
they didn't really get to see a lot.

Speaker 5 (06:37):
Cal Polly went up early in the second set, not
that anyone really felt threatened, but that third set they
made quick work of them. You know, with Eva Hudson
and Brooklyn Delay, we focused on them a lot. But
Lizzie Carr and it's Andrew.

Speaker 3 (06:48):
Carr sister last year.

Speaker 5 (06:51):
Yeah, so I mean they we expected him to win,
but I mean it was pretty quick work because, as
you mentioned, you sit down to watch and it's pretty
much over at that point.

Speaker 4 (06:58):
All right, So now Saturday they play Creighton to go
to the Final four. I think it's important to note
like this, this would only be our second final four, right, Yeah,
we've won a national championship.

Speaker 1 (07:11):
But as our only final four we ever bet, I mean.

Speaker 4 (07:13):
This is still an historic thing. This would only be
our second final four we're hosting. Creighton is a three seed.
They went to the Elite eight last year but lost. Historically,
I think they've been a good volleyball program. They've won
twenty three straight games. Now, granted they play I think
in the Big East, so that's in volleyball, not the

(07:33):
best conference in the world. The games at five, the
basketball games at seven thirty. It'll be interesting here at
the bar before the game. We'll have like our probably
our normal pregame crowd and have the volleyball game on
and the pregame show. So tomorrow here at like five o'clock,
it's gonna be d It's gonna be kind of a
happening place. Are you do you feel good about our

(07:54):
chance against Creighton. I heard Craig Skinner say they're a
consistent team. You can't score four or five and row
on them, but your best chance into them is to
play consistently and then pick your spots.

Speaker 1 (08:05):
This volleyball team is so good at you can and
they're just dominating people. I'm really glad the game will
be on during our pregame show so you can use
all your background and your vast volleyball knowledge, blocking skills
that I.

Speaker 3 (08:16):
Have not studied Creighton, so I don't know what they do.

Speaker 1 (08:18):
You better get on it before the show and then tomorrow.

Speaker 4 (08:22):
It's also a great chance to have a huge crowd.
I mean you could go to that game and then
go to the Kentucky Indiana basketball game. They'll probably be
actually perfect timing to go to both if you want to.

Speaker 5 (08:32):
Yeah, even if people don't do the doubleheader, I don't
think the Kentucky basketball game will impact the volleyball crowd
at all. They're gonna get a great crowd. When they
panned it yesterday, you could see people up in the
top corners.

Speaker 3 (08:44):
I think. I don't think they called it a sellout.

Speaker 5 (08:45):
I don't know where the empty spots were when they
were showing the crowd on TV, but I think it'll
be completely full against Saturday. And I've mentioned before having
gone to those there's just so much energy and excitement.
I think that can really help push Kentucky over the top.

Speaker 4 (08:57):
Who and I know Drew probably can, so I don't
want you to answer. Who can remember the last time
we played Creighton in basketball?

Speaker 3 (09:06):
I remember you remember?

Speaker 4 (09:08):
Okay, hang on for you, saying, anybody out here remember
the last time we played?

Speaker 3 (09:11):
What do you got?

Speaker 4 (09:13):
Gillespie's in it? That's exactly right. We won at Creighton,
kind of a surprising win. I think they were probably
supposed to be. We went to Omaha.

Speaker 3 (09:24):
Is that where they are?

Speaker 4 (09:25):
We went to Omaha. I managed to go to Omaha
and not get sued. And we did you go to
that game? No?

Speaker 3 (09:32):
That no, I didn't because we were preparing for the
firing that we knew.

Speaker 1 (09:36):
Was his last game. He's supposed to get fired.

Speaker 3 (09:38):
No, well if he lost.

Speaker 4 (09:39):
But then they went to they had to go play
Notre Dame because they say beat UNLV here. Then went
to Creighton and we're playing Notre Dame in the Elite eight,
which if they had won, they would go to the
Final Four in Madison Square Garden.

Speaker 3 (09:52):
But they ended up losing it. Notre Dame.

Speaker 4 (09:54):
That was the game Jodi Meeks refused to come out
to start the second half of the of the game.

Speaker 1 (09:58):
Weird little nugget of our basketball history, that whole Billy
Gillespie postseason that year the n I t well.

Speaker 4 (10:03):
I think one of the more fascinating things is what
happened between that Creighton game and.

Speaker 3 (10:08):
Notre Dame, because like this is sort of a lost
part of UK history.

Speaker 4 (10:12):
We beat Crayton in a game that I think everyone
thought we were gonna look yes, so I think Mitch
was like planning on firing Billy the day after the
Creighton game, but then we won, but word kind of
leaked out he was gonna get fired, but we still
had another game.

Speaker 3 (10:27):
Uh huh. Billy went and took two high school commits.

Speaker 4 (10:32):
He he went and got two commitments between those I'd
forgotten that the Connor Tucker band and someone else I
can't remember. But he he knew he was gonna get
fired likely and I think he just thought, if I
keep taking commitments, they won't be able to fire me.

Speaker 3 (10:51):
I'll just keep giving. And then if you talk to
players on.

Speaker 4 (10:53):
The team, like he went like even meaner in between that,
to the point he screamed at Jody Meeks so much.
At halftime at Notre Dame, Jody Meeks was stayed in
the locker room and they came out for the second
half and Jody was not there.

Speaker 1 (11:08):
I had to go ahead and get him, right, They
had to.

Speaker 3 (11:10):
They.

Speaker 4 (11:10):
I think it was Glenn Ciprian like begged him to
come out, and finally Jody did, and I think he
runs on the court like moments before they inbound the
ball to start the second half.

Speaker 1 (11:22):
Crazy history part of that, you know, I try to
remember they had to play the UNLV game. Im the
world cost him because because the Boys Sweet six.

Speaker 3 (11:30):
Because of the Boys Sweet sixteen.

Speaker 5 (11:32):
Yes, I was in that game as a fan, remember
it well. I don't remember the gap between Notre Dame
and Cutler Chase. How long of a window was there
between getting home from the n I T.

Speaker 4 (11:44):
I think the second round game of the n I
T was maybe on like uh Thursday, Friday, Saturday, something
like that, and then the Sweet sixteen was like on
or the Lead eight was like on the Tuesday after.
So it was like a four or five day period.
And in that period, in that time he went and
got the commitment.

Speaker 1 (12:04):
And then and then after the Notre Dame lost, so.

Speaker 3 (12:08):
He gets fired. So Notre Dame they lose. How long
was he back in Lexington the next day?

Speaker 4 (12:13):
It was the next day because we got to call
that morning. I remember I got to call that. I
was still a lawyer at this point. I got to
call that morning that said you need to just skip
your work day to day.

Speaker 3 (12:25):
Stuff's going down.

Speaker 4 (12:26):
They wouldn't tell me he was getting but like that
was the hint that it was going down. And then
I came here and that was that crazy scene that
led to Cutler. You know, they tried to fire Billy.
He just ended up driving around town hoping nobody would
find him. Still one of the greats. Like, I know
I'm gonna get fired, but they can't fire me. Run
if they don't find they.

Speaker 1 (12:43):
Can't find me. I'll just keep driving around New Circle roads.

Speaker 4 (12:46):
And what better road the New Circle made? Driving around
in a circle on New Circle. And as I understand it,
they dispatched somebody in the athletic department to drive around
New Circle and try to find him like he was OJ.

Speaker 1 (12:59):
I didn't know that part of the story.

Speaker 3 (13:01):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (13:01):
And then he pulls up to the to the Craft Center,
Allen standing outside, chases him inside.

Speaker 3 (13:09):
He goes and gets his stuff, runs out.

Speaker 5 (13:11):
The back, tries to close the door on Allen, like yeah,
pull it tight where he can't come through, and then
he and.

Speaker 1 (13:16):
Then he leaves.

Speaker 4 (13:16):
Remember a lot of people forget he held his own
press conference the next day at the Griffin Gate.

Speaker 1 (13:21):
Yes he did. I forgot about that.

Speaker 3 (13:23):
UK had a press conference announcing his firing.

Speaker 4 (13:25):
But Billy had his own press conference the next day
at at Griffin Gate.

Speaker 3 (13:30):
A little wild time.

Speaker 1 (13:31):
My favorite line when color Chasing Billy says, you really
gonna run me? Allen? Allen says, I can run with
you all day.

Speaker 4 (13:38):
No filter, no filter, although although Shannon Drew noted that
today's Alan Cutler tweet said Today's Alan Cutler Show is
going to be no no filter, no no filter, which
I think means he's gonna be filtered.

Speaker 2 (13:51):
Yeah, it's a double negative.

Speaker 5 (13:52):
Right, no no filter. He's going to be completely filtered.
Or is it double no filter? I don't know what
that means altered?

Speaker 2 (14:01):
You know sometimes you got a double filter your beer.

Speaker 3 (14:03):
Yeah, you're gonna double no filter. All right, who's up there?
Will go ahead? Will a good?

Speaker 6 (14:12):
A good afternoon? Almost now fella's longtime first time caller here?
Who But I've actually, uh made an appearance on the show.
You guys might remember about three years ago. Believe it
was out after the South Carolina game. Uh Caliperi was
doing a after radio conference or radio press conference, and

(14:32):
I was yelling, quote unquote do you remember this, No,
you do not remember this interaction. But anyway, what I
was yelling at Calipari was to implement an offense like
Mike Leach, who had just died a few weeks before
rest in peace to a legend. I was wanting him
to implement that offense, and he's, well, just spreading the

(14:57):
ball out more creating space. Come on, Matt, you should
should know what Mike Leach's offense is about.

Speaker 3 (15:03):
Yeah, but it is a different sport.

Speaker 6 (15:06):
It is, but just spreading the ball out. But that
is what I was trying to tell Caliperry. I feel
like it is relevant now to coach Pope. I believe
he really should implement this kind of offense because that
is what is stagnant with this team at the moment.

Speaker 7 (15:19):
I'm being honest.

Speaker 3 (15:20):
Well, I appreciate it. I appreciate the call.

Speaker 4 (15:22):
I mean, I do think they've got to find something
to make it not stagnant. Do you remember him doing that?
Do you remember that?

Speaker 3 (15:27):
I don't.

Speaker 5 (15:28):
I kind of get the point he's trying to make there.
But that's Pope already is supposed to be doing the
leech offense. He already knows it. It's just a matter
of the guy's actually getting out there and doing it yeah,
and shooting yeah. And they are not.

Speaker 3 (15:41):
Thus far hard the chemistry. Yeah, there's a.

Speaker 4 (15:45):
Lot more issues than just that cornbredhimp dot com If
you would like to have the holiday season without aches
and pains, restless nights, or other moments that are negative.
Go to cornbreadhimp dot com. They have twenty days of cornbread.

Speaker 3 (15:59):

Speaker 1 (16:01):
Nice.

Speaker 4 (16:01):
So let's go see what today's deal is cornbreadhimp dot com.

Speaker 3 (16:05):
Well tell you what. You pull up.

Speaker 1 (16:07):
Today's deal cornbreadamp dot com.

Speaker 3 (16:08):
Cornbreadhamp dot com.

Speaker 4 (16:09):
Recover from workouts and injuries and live a more stress
free life at cornbreadhimp dot com. This is the good life.
So far, all he's written is co r N Shitton.

Speaker 2 (16:24):
I'm seeing about one get one free is what I'm seeing.

Speaker 4 (16:26):
I want to get one for Yeah, he now has
corn bread and that's it. So he is googled just
the recipe for corn bread. We'll take a break in
very Backs Kentucky Sports Radio Apparently. George Clooney also said
he didn't fight with his wife.

Speaker 2 (16:41):
He said, though for like ten years is what he's saying.
He said ten years there.

Speaker 3 (16:44):
George clint he said for ten years he has him.

Speaker 2 (16:46):
Yep, he said they don't argue over anything.

Speaker 4 (16:48):
Anybody see you that new movie yet with him and
Adam Sandler almost started it last night but it was
a little too late to start a movie.

Speaker 3 (16:54):
But it's on my list, high on the list. I'd
like to see that. I like both those guys. George
Clintey's like, has he ever been in a bad movie?

Speaker 4 (17:02):
I'm trying to think about like guys that you just bank,
like Leonardo DiCaprio. If he's in a movie, I think
it's gonna be pretty good. I can't think of a
movie of his that I didn't like. I'm sure there
is one, but I can't think of one. I feel
like George Clooney is like that too. I can't think
of it George Clooney movie that Even the movies.

Speaker 5 (17:22):
Of his that people forget I liked, like Up in
the Air. I was about to bring that up. That's
one that they get talked about it.

Speaker 4 (17:28):
I really like Up in the Air a lot, the
one where he's in Hawaii, The Descendants where he's like,
you know that one, it's good, it's good, and then
oh brother, we're art the obviously Michael Clayton, all the
Oceans movies, Siria.

Speaker 3 (17:44):
Was he in Siriana anyway? Point being like, which Batman
was he? Yeah?

Speaker 4 (17:49):
No, he wasn't that he wasn't good in The Batman
because he had nipples. Yeah, he wasn't good in that,
that's true. Well, that was bad.

Speaker 2 (17:58):
He was in a Return of the Killer Tomatoes. That
couldn't have been good.

Speaker 4 (18:02):
That had to be like early in his career though.
That had to be before he was a star. He
wouldn't have been in Return of the Killer Tomatoes after
he became a star. There's a woman here who lives
in Raleigh my old home. Had a lot of fun
watching Carolina Hurricanes last night. You get a big win
there now in first place.

Speaker 8 (18:19):
You mentioned the game yesterday when in a shootout, You
know they hockey comes down sometimes to a shootouts, just
one on one the goalie and the guy, and it's
it's actually quite exciting.

Speaker 5 (18:30):
Kines beat the Capital. So you don't like that in soccer.
You like it in hockey because I feel like it's
still close to what the sport is.

Speaker 4 (18:37):
My problem with it in soccer is that, like a
penalty kick has no associate and they and in hockey
they at least do. They'll do five minutes of three
on three to give him a chance before and they
don't do it in the playoffs. The thing about soccer
is they do it in games that matter. In hockey,
once you get the playoffs, there's no no, no shootouts, So.

Speaker 3 (18:56):
What can be exciting.

Speaker 4 (18:58):
I think what they do hockey is exactly what they
should do in soccer. In hockey, they take guys off
the ice, which gives them to use the callers thing
more space.

Speaker 3 (19:08):
Do that in soccer.

Speaker 4 (19:09):
Take two guys off the field every ten minutes and
you will get a goal.

Speaker 3 (19:13):
After a while.

Speaker 1 (19:13):
So the first overtime period is three on three.

Speaker 4 (19:17):
For in the regular season, Yeah, for five minutes, they'll
go three on three and it is the most exciting
thing you can watch because if you make one mistake,
there's a breakaway and you got it. Like three on
three hockey. If that were the sport, hockey would be
the biggest sport in the world. It's it's awesome. I
would love to watch a game of just three on three.
The score would be like fifteen to ten.

Speaker 3 (19:39):
They should do that.

Speaker 5 (19:40):
Get get some of the best players in the NHL
and just play a three on three.

Speaker 4 (19:43):
Tell me about Indiana real quick. So we have a
scouting report for tomorrow.

Speaker 5 (19:47):
Well, Ryan's boy, Lamar Wilkerson. We've said many times he
just had a huge game, went ten to fifteen from three.
He's shooting like forty five percent from three and getting
twenty points a game. He's doing exactly what we didn't
want him to do. He already has. They've played ten games.
In half of them he had four more three pointers. However,
if you lock him down, yeah, h Tucker DeVries, who

(20:09):
is a Drake forever and then got hurt last year
at West Virginia. That's the coach in the Ena. He
has the same amount of threes as Lamar Wilkerson. We
don't talk about him as much because it doesn't have
the Kentucky connection, but they both hit thirty five this season.
Indiana's really good offensively. The other guard is taking Connorway
that played at Troy last season. We ran in him

(20:31):
at the tournament. He actually didn't play well against US.
They got too focus on their waffle house. But those
are three of the big names. They're really good offensively,
but defensively they'll give up some points.

Speaker 3 (20:39):
They're bad.

Speaker 5 (20:40):
You got to get out close out on the threes.
If they get hot, could be night night quickly. So
we defend the perimeter. But you can score on Indiana
if you're locked in.

Speaker 4 (20:49):
We've got to start well these games that we haven't
started well. We didn't really start well against Louisville. We
did come back, but we didn't start well against Louisville,
didn't start well against Michigan State, didn't start well against Gonzaga.

Speaker 3 (21:00):
Start okay against North Carolina. But we've got to start well.

Speaker 1 (21:03):
And I think that helped. With Trent in the starting
lineup the other night, kind of gave just a little little.

Speaker 3 (21:07):
Boost of venta. Would you start Trent again? I would?

Speaker 1 (21:09):
I would start him again. He came in, you know,
he hit a couple of shots early, kind of got
jump start him a little bit.

Speaker 3 (21:13):
Would you start Jaalen Low? Like he's playing.

Speaker 4 (21:16):
I don't understand to bring him up, Like, if he's
gonna play, why do you why don't you start?

Speaker 5 (21:21):
Discipline related at the last game with him and Cam Williams,
they both didn't play the first half and people at
the open practice saw them running the steps and getting
yelled at. So I that's what happened in the last game.
Would you start him in this game?

Speaker 3 (21:33):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (21:33):
I mean you're at the point you can't almost cussed.
I haven't a cuss on here. In fifteen years. You
can't mess around right now anymore. I know I almost
had my first dump there, but uh, it's it's too important.
I mean, your back shouldn't be against the wall on
December thirteenth in the season, but kind of is now.
You can't fall behind, so you would start what well,
I mean, you can bring an Aberdeen off the bench.

(21:55):
Probably maybe Low Chandler o way one of Tobote's price
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (22:03):
His Let's say let's say he plays load.

Speaker 1 (22:08):
He's been out so long and it's an ankle, so
he hasn't been able to do the conditioning stuff. At
least Low's kind of supposedly.

Speaker 4 (22:14):
I'd go Low away, uh Chandler, and then Diabate off
the bench. Aberdeen off the bench. I mean, those are
two of your best. Like I don't know, Indiana doesn't
use their bench. They do this thing where they play
their best players. Crazy concept, but that could be an

(22:35):
opportunity if Kentucky wants to run and if guys can
contribute off the bench, maybe use your depth and try
to get them played with some pace and get them winded.

Speaker 3 (22:43):
Yeah, who's next, Let's go to Skuyler.

Speaker 4 (22:46):
Still nobody's giving me a bad George Clooney movie except
that Batman. I'm not counting the rotten tomatoes Skyler, go ahead.

Speaker 9 (22:52):
Yeah, two more George Clooney movies, Gravity and The Iydes
of March.

Speaker 3 (22:56):
I don't know if those both are great. Both of
those are great movies. Yeahravity in the Eyes of March
are both good.

Speaker 9 (23:03):
Hey, I'm calling to defend myself a little bit called
into the postgame show, and I use the term performative.
I just want to let the listeners know that got
their feelings hurt. That the definition of performative is a
dramatic or artistic performance, and so take music in the background.

Speaker 4 (23:23):
Yeah, we gotta go to break. I'm sorry about that.
I appreciate the call. Uh, Leatherheads was not very good.
That's a good call, but burn after reading I like that.

Speaker 3 (23:31):
We'll be right back. TJ Smith personal injury attorney. Call TJ.
He'll make them pay now.

Speaker 2 (23:39):
More of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's
Matt Jones.

Speaker 3 (23:44):
Welcome back Tukey Sports Radio.

Speaker 4 (23:45):
If I'm nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven,
text machine is seven seven two seven seven four five
two five for John Michael Montgomery tonight's final concert at Reperina.

Speaker 5 (23:55):
Uh, you are you going? Just had my tickets pulled up.
I'm confirming they're in there there. Yeah, I'm going looking
forward to it.

Speaker 3 (24:01):
Well, good that should be if you uh, we're gonna
play John Michael music, John Michael music here before the
show if you want to come by the bar on
your way to uh to the concert for J M. M. Walker.

Speaker 1 (24:13):
Montgomery's playing, Eddie Montgomery's playing, and then John Michael. I
gotta give a shout to one of our fans, marsh
Up Northern Kentucky sent me some tickets, so we're I'm
even going tonight.

Speaker 3 (24:22):
You're going tonight?

Speaker 1 (24:22):
Yeah, well that's good.

Speaker 4 (24:24):
Uh ranked the ranked the John Michael Montgomery song, So
it's not now that is this is gonna be the
final one?

Speaker 3 (24:30):
What's his best song? And not just the most famous?
What's his best?

Speaker 5 (24:33):
I was for me, I was singing, I swear quite
a bit this morning. Isn't the problem with that though?
Of one though, I mean like he that's.

Speaker 3 (24:42):
I think it was his. They took it and kind
of ran away with it right off.

Speaker 5 (24:45):
For one, I thought it was the order and he
took he explained this to us when he was on
the show. I thought he said it was maybe you're right, okay,
but that's what I was singing all morning getting getting
ready for tonight.

Speaker 3 (24:56):
What about you?

Speaker 1 (24:57):
I told you once, I told you twice. So the
lady it's like a oh, she's an eighty to night.
Then I know red lived.

Speaker 3 (25:06):
Did you get any of those words? Right?

Speaker 1 (25:07):
That's the best one. I'm gonna be singing as loud
as I can tonight.

Speaker 2 (25:10):
Life of Dance, that's the answer, right, Yeah, is the
best song.

Speaker 1 (25:14):
That may be the best song.

Speaker 4 (25:15):
Life to Edance is a great one. I'm sitting here
looking at it. I think the one that, you know,
the one that actually makes me cry is that letters
from Home song? Oh you know that one.

Speaker 3 (25:27):
I wouldn't say that, like that might not be his
most popular. Yeah, it's sad. He's getting letters.

Speaker 4 (25:33):
He's like in the military, he's getting letters from home,
and some of it's bad news.

Speaker 3 (25:36):
You said that, like that's crazy.

Speaker 4 (25:38):
Like if I had said the Grundy County Auction makes
me cry, that would be understandable. But Letters from Home
is a perfectly reasonable song to make you.

Speaker 3 (25:46):
Cry, baby tonight makes me cry.

Speaker 1 (25:48):
That's a good one. Yeah, it's a good one. I'm
just probably hearing it from you that a song moves
you to tears. I've never heard you say that before.

Speaker 3 (25:56):
What are you talking about? Like, I he's a crier.

Speaker 1 (25:59):
Cry You said you cried over another show a song.

Speaker 3 (26:03):
I mean, I don't know that. I'm like, you know,
I cry.

Speaker 1 (26:06):
Like they never a song drive you to tears. I've
admitted I've cried over songs before.

Speaker 3 (26:10):
Like, there's a lot of songs like.

Speaker 1 (26:12):
Highway twenty Ride, Jack Brown Band.

Speaker 4 (26:14):
Yeah, that one's I can make it so like anything
for some reason, And I don't know why because I
didn't serve in the military, but there's something about songs
about military, Like I think one of the saddest songs
of all time is that uh Dixie Chick song Traveling Soldier.
I think that song is beautiful and when like they
talk about the names at the football game being read

(26:38):
and like, like, I find that to be one of
the sad I don't really I don't cry about love songs.

Speaker 3 (26:45):
It's usually people dying songs. You know.

Speaker 5 (26:48):
If we don't want a basketball game tomorrow, I'm gonna
be crying during Doom's Walker about that don't make me cry.

Speaker 3 (26:56):
Yeah, there are.

Speaker 5 (26:57):
Songs that I have connected to people and like deaths
that you know, it's not so much the song, but
it triggers.

Speaker 3 (27:02):
I had somebody tell.

Speaker 4 (27:03):
Me that the Mark Pope postgames from the North Carolina
game and the North Carolina Central game, so the last
two games might be the two smallest crowds they've ever seen.

Speaker 3 (27:15):
At the at Pope's postgame stuff. Would you agree with that?

Speaker 5 (27:18):
I had to leave the last game, so I wasn't there,
but the UNC game definitely even tweeted about it in
real time. Part of it was it was so late,
but also the way the game ended, I mean there
was barely a full row or two there at mid court,
where it's normally that whole sections gets pretty full.

Speaker 4 (27:33):
Have I did you see the news Ryan about the
soccer team FC Hakka in Finland?

Speaker 3 (27:40):
Tell me about it.

Speaker 1 (27:40):
I don't know this story.

Speaker 4 (27:41):
So in Finland and in a lot of Europe, when
you play soccer, if you come in the bottom three
spots in the league, you drop down to the league below,
which I have advocated for college sports. I think it
would be fun if like there was a Division one
and you played each other and the team that came
in last The next year they were in Division two

(28:01):
and you like move up and down. I think that
would be a lot of fun. Uh, well, they do
that in Europe and soccer and in Finland.

Speaker 1 (28:09):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (28:09):
FC Hakka was in Division two and they have now
finished in last place in division two, so they will move.

Speaker 3 (28:15):
To Division three. And their fans were very upset.

Speaker 4 (28:19):
Now, what are some reasonable ways that fans could express
that they were upset about this? Not renew their tickets.
Not renew their tickets. That would be a good one.
What's another one? Uh?

Speaker 3 (28:28):
Maybe with some posters or some post messaging.

Speaker 4 (28:31):
Shannon, what about you? What's what's a reasonable one? Send
send an email to Mitch Barnhart. That's exactly right.

Speaker 3 (28:37):
Call a show.

Speaker 4 (28:38):
Well, here's what the FC Hockey fans did. Okay, they
went and burned the stadium deck.

Speaker 1 (28:42):
Oh wow, a little extreme.

Speaker 4 (28:48):
There's fixtures and video online. They set a mass fire
and the entire stadium, Wow, was engulfed in flames. And
they burned the team stadium deck. And they don't know
who did it. They know it was FC Haka fans,
but they were all masked and as of yet, they
have not caught the perpetrators that burned the stadium down.

Speaker 1 (29:09):
So multiple fans got together at a concerted effort to
burn the stadium.

Speaker 3 (29:12):
There was they believe it was multiple people.

Speaker 5 (29:14):
Yes, you know, I don't know that team, but I
would think they got the message. I think the message
was sent at that point. Probably did better than like
the brown bags you would wear any game you think.

Speaker 3 (29:24):
You think it's hard to ignore that one. Yeah, that's
a little over the top for me. Yeah, so I'm
not advocating that.

Speaker 4 (29:33):
I think that's actually a poor way to handle because
it's gonna be hard for them next year, Shannon, with
the stadium completely, it's gonna be a tough rebuild, hard
to recruit players there when you're burning the stadiums down.

Speaker 3 (29:46):
Who's next, David, go ahead, David, Hey, yeah.

Speaker 7 (29:51):
Matt, I was just quick call.

Speaker 1 (29:53):
Uh.

Speaker 7 (29:54):
I'm not a religious person, but I was just gonna
send out good vibes to your family and you you
about your father's situation.

Speaker 3 (30:02):
Thank you.

Speaker 7 (30:03):
Uh, but your idea on the food book and you
want somebody to work cheap dude, I'm retired. I watch videos.
I'll drive to all one hundred and twenty counties and
hit Mom and pops or big restaurants, breakfast, lunch, dinner, whatever.
And and I'll leave you with this. I can't believe

(30:25):
your buddies don't know the Godfather. You guys were talking,
Well they do.

Speaker 4 (30:29):
Now, at least at least at least Ryan does. And
I appreciate the call and thank you for the offer.

Speaker 3 (30:35):
Do would you? Are you gonna watch god Father too?
This weekend?

Speaker 1 (30:39):
I don't all get through this weekend, but I am
definitely gonna watch it as soon as possible. I want.
I tried to find that little not documentary, but these
movie they said they made about make the.

Speaker 3 (30:46):
TV show called The Offer and it's on Paramount.

Speaker 1 (30:49):
Okay, it's on Paramount.

Speaker 3 (30:50):
It's called it's called The Offer, and it's about the
making of it.

Speaker 1 (30:54):
Okay, I want to watch that too.

Speaker 3 (30:55):
Yeah, confuse it?

Speaker 4 (30:56):
Uh, Kentucky lost Steven Sole sackam Souls has entered the
transfer portal or will enter the transfer portal is not
open yet, but he announced he would. You know, I mean,
all of these portal things, a lot of it's gonna
depend on who we get to replace him.

Speaker 3 (31:15):
I mean, he was a very good player.

Speaker 4 (31:17):
If you go get somebody in the portal who's just
as good or better than him. It may not be
that big a loss, but he would have been a
guy Drew I think I would have hoped would come back.

Speaker 3 (31:26):
He is not, but he's not gonna be the last one.

Speaker 4 (31:29):
And I think all these were gonna have to judge
on the well kind of who is the replacement for
it in the end.

Speaker 3 (31:34):
Yeah, that's a tough loss.

Speaker 5 (31:35):
He's kind of even a little bit of a fan favorite,
even though he's still young and not a full time starter,
but he's probably the best, you know, pass rusher on
the edge they were bringing back at least just being
with how explosive and quick he is getting in the backfield,
and he was gonna be a big part of that
defense moving forward as he became an upperclassman. With the
Football podcast and eleven personnel, Adam and Nick, those guys

(31:56):
just absolutely loved him.

Speaker 3 (31:57):
The moment he committed, he just.

Speaker 5 (31:59):
Had a little personsonality that sack them nickname uh, And
that's one that hurts both on the field and just
having a guy in the locker room.

Speaker 4 (32:05):
People like it is unfortunate, I mean like, but again,
but part of this is Will Stein.

Speaker 3 (32:11):
I mean, he's got to pick the players.

Speaker 4 (32:13):
And if he ends up, I mean, what do you
think this fan base does if he decides that Cutter
Bowlie is not his quarterback and this dude at Oregon.

Speaker 1 (32:20):
Is that's gonna hurt. That's gonna sting for sure, because
we're kind.

Speaker 4 (32:24):
Of when you say it's gonna hurt, Like, would you
be upset about it if he did that?

Speaker 1 (32:30):
I think I would be upset until we start winning games,
you know. But like I said, I got on the
Cutter bandwagon and I'm not getting off of it. He's
still my guy. I want him to be I want
him to be my guy.

Speaker 3 (32:41):
Well, I'm gonna get off of it if he leaves.

Speaker 4 (32:44):
If he leaves, yes, no, I mean would I prefer
him to be the quarterback then not?

Speaker 3 (32:51):
Yes? Yes, but will Stein should pick.

Speaker 4 (32:55):
You know you're gonna bake the cake, you should get
to pick the ingredients in the recipe.

Speaker 3 (32:59):
And if he wants somebody.

Speaker 4 (32:59):
Else, still be judged by what he does, and people
will be harsher on this other quarterback if you're getting
rid of the kid from Lexington. But at the same time,
I think he deserves a chance to have the guys
he thinks will succeed, don't you.

Speaker 5 (33:13):
Yeah, it definitely would be more fun if Cutter's a
leader just because we know him, the local connection and
all that. But if Stein also realizes that, and if
he knows the importance he is to the state and
still thinks he should bring one in, I'm just gonna
trust the guy that's leaving Oregon in a top ten
offense the last three years that he knows what he's doing.

Speaker 4 (33:29):
I mean, all I can do is go by what
he said publicly, but by hearing what he said publicly
on this show and other things, it sounds like to
me he wants Cutter Bowie to be here, but he
ain't guarantee and Cutter Bowlie's gonna be the starting quarterback.
And then the question becomes, does Cutter Bowley only want
to play a place where he's guaranteed the starting quarterback,
which would be understandable, or is he cool coming in

(33:51):
here and competing with this dude likely from Oregon. If
your Cutter, you may go, well, he already knows this guy.
Am I behind the eight ball all ready to start?
I would argue, though this guy he's bringing in Stein
has already picked somebody else over him before because he.

Speaker 3 (34:08):
Was on the bench at Oregon. But I don't know,
we'll see what happens.

Speaker 1 (34:12):
You got I think too, maybe Slong the new offensive
corner and maybe brings somebody with him, you know, maybe
he's had somebody he's close with, you know, so they've
got what the stone Saunders he's he hasn't left yet,
that's true. Pot of Toowsky's coming.

Speaker 3 (34:24):
In, Yeah, it could be. It could be a lot
of guys quarterback room.

Speaker 5 (34:27):
The pot of money is is you know, they're huge
and they have a lot to go get. They need
an entire offensive line also, so some of this will
come down to money. They have a lot they have
to go out and buy and only so much money.

Speaker 4 (34:37):
One touchdown could change everything. The crowd, the momentum, the
game itself feel that same rush. With DraftKings Sports book,

Two bowl games tomorrow, we're gonna pick.

Speaker 4 (35:06):
All right, right, it is the let's see the Cricket
Celebration Bowl.

Speaker 1 (35:13):
What a name? What that got me excited?

Speaker 3 (35:15):
What's wrong with the Cricket Celebration Crickets?

Speaker 4 (35:18):
I mean, listen, it's it's bowl games, Cricket Celebration Bowl,
and uh I'm trying to get the teams here. Well,
I can't find the team. So never mind, Let's go
to the Let's go to the Bucked Up l A Bowl.

Speaker 1 (35:36):
What is what is the bucked up part?

Speaker 3 (35:42):
I mean it's called the.

Speaker 5 (35:45):
Bucked Up Oh, this is the one hosted by Gronk.

Speaker 3 (35:49):
What's the bucked up part? Yeah? I don't know. Okay,
Well they're bucking up at the l A Bowl.

Speaker 2 (35:55):
Apparently it's like an energy drink.

Speaker 3 (35:57):
Oh it's an energy drink.

Speaker 4 (35:58):
Yeah, okay, Boise State in Washington, this is tomorrow.

Speaker 1 (36:05):
I'm a big bush Hampden guy. Came from Boise State,
so I'll go to Boise State.

Speaker 3 (36:09):
Are you a big bush Hampdon guy, State fan. What
were you a big Bush Hampdon guy.

Speaker 1 (36:14):
The only thing I could come up with.

Speaker 3 (36:16):
Okay, I'll go Washington here, Bob, I'm gonna go.

Speaker 2 (36:18):
Washington, Washington.

Speaker 4 (36:20):
I feel like Boise State in Washington play every year
in these Bowl games.

Speaker 5 (36:24):
They couldn't branch out to new new regions of the country, and.

Speaker 4 (36:26):
Founday it seems they're like, we're at the bucked Up Bowl.
Let's get Boise State in Washington. We'll take a break
and be right back. Yeah, this is the one I
was talking about, the one that makes you cry. Yeah,
it's a beautiful song. And somebody reminded me another one
of his like that. It's called Little Girl. They're both

(36:49):
very sweet. It's something about his voice. It's very sort
of Kentucky, and it's like, I don't know, I think
he'd conveys emotion very well.

Speaker 3 (36:57):
Donny takes some tissues with me tonight, think.

Speaker 4 (37:00):
So, I think you would need to anyway, right, I
think it's his final concert. He'll probably bring his son
and brother up on the stage and they'll sing and
everybody will cry.

Speaker 3 (37:09):
That'll be kind of nice. God, I wasn't ready for
all this. I would assume it's gonna be emotional.

Speaker 1 (37:14):
I think no doubt w'ld be an emotional.

Speaker 4 (37:16):
I mean, so we have two major retirements this weekend,
John Michael Montgomery on Friday and Shannon John Cena on Saturday.
John Cena is wrestling his last match on Saturday Day
against Gunther. Oh this is the other song. I thought
you were playing this for Johnson in the Fighting? Yeah,

(37:41):
so see are you now? First of all, with all
wrestling retirements, Shane and I assume it's they're not gonna
They're not gonna retire. Rick Flair still wrestles someday. R
So do you think he will actually retire. He's actually
rich in a TV star, a movie star, so he
actually could retire.

Speaker 3 (37:58):
Yeah, that's the way.

Speaker 2 (37:58):
It's a little bit different, you know, Like he's got
the whole movie career going on, and I think he's
smart enough to not come back and embarrass himself. Like
right now he can still go, but he can still
back ten years from now and try to do it again.
It's not gonna work.

Speaker 4 (38:10):
Yeah, so uh so, yeah, I'll be sad to see
him gone. John Cena, former OVW superstar.

Speaker 1 (38:17):
That's is it the old wrestling adage? You leave all
while on your back, Like will he get beat this?

Speaker 4 (38:21):
Well, that's a great question because the old wrestling adages
you you leave on your you you leave on your back,
you lose your final match, that is your final match.
You sort of pass the torch and give somebody a
bump by beating you.

Speaker 2 (38:33):
It would be just so John Cena to not lose, though.

Speaker 4 (38:35):
But it would be John Cena to say, you know what,
not for me the old adage, I'm winning my final one.

Speaker 3 (38:43):
Which crowd will have more tears? Which farewell crowd? It's
interesting John criers though.

Speaker 4 (38:49):
Wrestling fans aren't they do cry? Yeah, I think there'll
be a lot of tears for John Cena. I mean,
like John Cena. It's funny because wrestling fans Shannon used
to not like John c They kind of like John
Cena was forced upon them and they didn't. They used
to say, they used to chant John Cena sucks. But
now you stick around long enough. It's like Kareem abdul Jabbar.

(39:10):
Older people, no one liked Kareem abdul Jabbar his entire career,
like no one, and then in his final year they
did a farewell tour and everyone cried in every arena
in America. And and you know, my grandfather used to
be like we no one liked him. Why are we crying?
Feel the same way about this. If you stick around

(39:31):
long enough, people cry for you.

Speaker 3 (39:33):
Well, I'm expecting to cry, John Michael tonight.

Speaker 4 (39:35):
People felt that when Jerry Tipton retired and everyone was
mean to him his entire career, and then when he retired,
everbody's like, oh, I'm sorry to see him go.

Speaker 1 (39:45):
We like Jerry Tipton. Everybody likes Jerry Tipton.

Speaker 3 (39:47):
Now, yeah, nobody's ready for change. People don't. That's true.
Didn't really happen for cal and Stoops.

Speaker 4 (39:52):
But wait and see, there'll be a moment that there'll
be times when they come back and there'll be that
you know, it all happened for them too.

Speaker 3 (40:01):
Well, they're the opposite.

Speaker 5 (40:02):
The bad guy over Tom can get good, but the
good guy can't stay good forever.

Speaker 3 (40:05):
It just starts to wear things. You ever came in hot.

Speaker 4 (40:09):
Become a vielain or what die hero, or become a
live long enough to become a villain?

Speaker 3 (40:13):
Harvey Dent, Yeah, that's exactly right. Who's next?

Speaker 10 (40:16):
W C, w C, Go ahead, Hey, just a couple
of things and give us a hands up on who's
going to be the next athletic director, Mark Hill or
somebody else.

Speaker 3 (40:31):
Yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 4 (40:32):
I mean, I think Mark Hill is If you were
to do the odds on a board for favorite, I
think Mark Hill would be the favorite.

Speaker 3 (40:38):
But I think Dwyane Peevee's on the list. Uh.

Speaker 4 (40:41):
You know, I had somebody tell me after yesterday that
the woman we talked about, Rachel Baker, is a contender,
although they didn't think it was would likely be her,
but you'd be a contender, and then you know, they
might decide to bring in somebody completely different.

Speaker 3 (40:56):
So I honestly don't know the answer to that.

Speaker 4 (40:59):
I think the dude that we talked about on this
show a while back, Eric Monday, will be deciding probably
who that next person is, because I think he's likely
to be the next president.

Speaker 10 (41:11):
All right, thank you much, Joe, I was doing in
blessings for your dad.

Speaker 3 (41:15):
Though, thank you appreciate the call. Do you agree with
that analysis?

Speaker 1 (41:18):
I do, And I think Mark Hill's status as a
contender went up after they just did this to Football
Search because it was just three guys in the Football
Search Mitch Him and Rock Rock Oliver. I mean they
said pretty much that was that was a search committee.

Speaker 3 (41:31):
I think Jacob Tammy was part of that too a
little bit. Oh you disagree.

Speaker 1 (41:36):
No, I think it was rock Hill, rock Hill, Rock Oliver, Bourbon,
rock Hill, Mark Hill.

Speaker 3 (41:41):
Don't even though there.

Speaker 5 (41:42):
Was a rock He, I don't think that's a Bourbon
rock Hill Farms. I don't think involved rock Hill Farms
in this decision.

Speaker 4 (41:47):
