feel like it, but it is. And you can give

(00:58):
He'll make Them Pay. We are here at kas Bar
and Grill, where you're welcome to join us. Today for
lunch and excitement getting ready for UK volleyball tonight. We
got folks here from Richmond, Mason County, Houston, and Louisville
in the house today, so circling the environment. We got Shannon.
These two decided to come back to work today, which
(01:20):
is which is exciting, right Lemon.
Speaker 4 (01:22):
Don't say back.
Speaker 2 (01:24):
Oh yeah, the back front. How's it hanging in there?
Speaker 4 (01:28):
I made it in here. I'm doing all right. I've
gotten to where I can walk. I literally the last
two days I couldn't take three steps. I have just
been in bed stuck. But I was able to walk today,
and here I am. I know I said to play
through the pain. I know I said this yesterday. But
if you've never had that, it is the absolute worst.
Like it's the worst. I'm sure they're pain like you know,
(01:51):
people say, like we have a baby, it hurts. I
don't know, but.
Speaker 2 (01:55):
But allegedly, I mean they say, and I and you know,
just thinking about the mechanics of it, I could see
how it would hurt just you know, just I get it.
It's not impossible. But I would say, for a male,
I can't think of too many things that hurt worse
than what you had and what I've had now three
(02:16):
times because it's awful. Now you Ryan are also okay
you did I hear you ran into the back of
a parked salt truck.
Speaker 5 (02:27):
You know, I've been doing this show with you for
fourteen years and I've rear into two vehicles, a Maserati
and a salt truck.
Speaker 4 (02:34):
Oh my goodness.
Speaker 2 (02:37):
Okay, you know, listen, I had not been in a
wreck until about a month and a half ago. So
I'm not trying to like give you a hard time.
My wreck was my fault, so I'm not trying to
give you a hard time. But how do you hit
a parked salt truck?
Speaker 5 (02:54):
It was at a stuff sign, which is a kind
of go down an incline to get to it. As
soon as I hit my brakes, man, I started sliding.
There was no stopping it just I just slid right
into the back of it.
Speaker 2 (03:03):
Now it looks like in your car on the picture
you slid under it. It did pretty much. That could
have been a lot worse.
Speaker 5 (03:09):
Yes, it could have so like it kind of slid
and turned a little bit, thank goodness, or I want
to just hit it, slid run underneath it.
Speaker 2 (03:15):
So but Paul inured it's because I mean you you
have a history. It's expensive. I'm not gonna lie, it's
a little expensive.
Speaker 5 (03:25):
And when I uh, I called my insurance guy, you know,
Tim from Pale County, but.
Speaker 2 (03:30):
Apparently like he has you on speed dial. He knows yep.
Speaker 5 (03:33):
He's like, why can't you hit a Ford Pinto or something?
Why are you gotta hit the expensive vehicles?
Speaker 2 (03:37):
So you you messed up the salt truck.
Speaker 5 (03:40):
Didn't even not even a scratch, like it's like a tank,
because you did.
Speaker 2 (03:44):
You did like total that Maserati. Well that was just
a back bumper.
Speaker 5 (03:49):
The thirty thousand dollars back bumper on the Maserati that
I hit.
Speaker 4 (03:52):
Wow, makes some count.
Speaker 2 (03:55):
Yeah, if you're going, if you're gonna wreck, you're gonna
make it count.
Speaker 4 (03:57):
Well, I like you put out that social media video
and he said there's a minor fender bender. That doesn't
sound like a minor fender bender hitting AsSalt truck.
Speaker 2 (04:04):
I mean, anytime you go under a truck like that
like that, that could have been bad. Well, I'm glad
you're okay. Little Paull Miller four came to my rescue.
Give me.
Speaker 5 (04:11):
Do you see the monster car. I'm driving out there. Now,
I can I can go over Oh is that Bronco here? Yes,
I can go over mountains. If you want to go
four wheeling after the show, you and me, let's go
in the mud.
Speaker 2 (04:19):
I don't I think, I don't know if you've recognized
some of you. I don't get in the car when
you're driving. It's one of my I have like a
couple of rules. One of the rules is don't let
Ryn drive. You let me drive.
Speaker 5 (04:30):
One time at one of my road trips. It was
from the parking lot to the gas station, like fifty feet.
Speaker 2 (04:36):
That was it. No, there's there's never a reason to
uh to let you drive. Well, I'm glad you guys
are back. You know, when you were gone, we kind
of scrambled. So I had Myron, I had Adam Adam Luckett.
I thought they did great. And then yesterday was old
school me and Shannon. We were just reading lists of
movies and shit, and I gotta tell you, I really
like that. When I started that segment, I thought this
(04:57):
is probably not gonna be a fan favorite. Oh I
was wrong. No, people now want us to just pick
a year of movies and read the top thirty. So
we'll do that again, some kind of shit. You're okay
with a lot of fun doing that.
Speaker 3 (05:08):
And Ryan and Drew we also went old school. We
did a Facebook birthday shout out.
Speaker 2 (05:12):
He did do a Facebook birthday shout out. And that guy,
whoever the name was, he wrote me last night and
thanked me for the birthday shot. Oh he was listening. See,
so like, you know, there's nothing wrong with the birthday
shout out. Ryan, I think it's fine.
Speaker 5 (05:25):
Well, I loved it, but I was screaming at the
radio because Toy Story totally underrated in your poll yesterday
that I could not believe anything your poll said if
you had Toy Story I did.
Speaker 2 (05:33):
It wasn't my poll. It was the Box Offers returns.
I didn't do a pole fake news. Well, the reason was,
if you would listen to the whole show. Toy Story
came out in ninety five, and so in ninety six
it was at the end of its run, which is
why it was in twenty ninth. You know, since he
mentioned the birthday. Let's keep the good, good vibes, all right,
Drew one through fourteen, that's today's birthdays. I'll go with
(05:54):
twelve Bob twelve. Let's go down here. Let's give a
birthday shout out to Brad Darty. Brad Doherty, Happy birthday.
Not Cavalier Brady, you would think it would be. No,
this is Brad Darty who went to UK. He lives
in Franklin, Kentucky. And happy birthday to him. He has followed. Also,
(06:15):
he's friends with Tom Leach Birthday. Happy birthday to you
and Cee Shannon. The segment still works.
Speaker 3 (06:23):
There we go, I think we continue it now.
Speaker 2 (06:25):
Brad Doherty is a forgotten NBA player. He's actually forgotten him.
He played for the Calves. Yes, he was a good center,
played for way Forest in college. Am I right about there?
No Carolina. I think he went to Carolina and he
owned a NASCAR team. That's the thing that people don't
think about. You never see a lot of sinners from
(06:46):
the NBA who didn go and own a NASCAR team.
And he was actually a NASCAR announcer, which was kind
of weird.
Speaker 5 (06:53):
Yeah, he became a commentator of the guy that like
an expert on NASCAR.
Speaker 4 (06:57):
He's also one of those players where when I was
growing up collecting cards, no matter what pack I got,
there was a Brad Darty card. I feel like he
had a card in every pack that was made.
Speaker 2 (07:05):
All right. We did trivia last night. Packed house, great crowd,
a lot of new faces. I enjoyed it. It was
hard last night. It was one of my harder ones,
but I was proud of it because I enjoyed doing
that last night and I actually had a lot of fun.
Thanks everybody came out. We'll do another one first full
week of January. A couple questions for you all, all right?
A UK basketball question. All right, we got a lot
(07:27):
of UK basketball intellects here. All time Kentucky basketball wins
over a program. Okay, So the team we've beaten the
most over the years of Vandy. We've beaten Vandy more
than any other team. But you know, in most of
our all time wins, teams we've beaten the most are
in the SEC because we play him the most, et cetera.
(07:47):
Eight schools with official religious affiliations that we've beaten the
most at Kentucky. So eight schools with official and not
counting the schools in can because we've beaten Trancy a
lot and Bellerman and Kentucky wa. So take out of
the schools of Kentucky. Were the eight schools that are
(08:08):
religious schools that we have beaten the most. Feel free
to make a guess. Wow, Shannon, feel free to jump
in if you would like as well. Oral Roberts. Oral
Roberts is not on the list. We've played Oral Roberts
like twice. B Yu, you are terrible at this, b Yu.
When's the last time we played by? Thank you? That's
exactly what you remember any game against BYU? Okay, thank you?
(08:31):
So that they're not on.
Speaker 4 (08:32):
The list, I'm a Shannon, I can't even come up.
Speaker 2 (08:35):
We've beaten one team, Notre Dame. Notre Dame come thirty
eight times, so we should be able to get Notre Dame.
Xavior Xavier is second. We used to play them every
year back in the long time ago, and uh they're
the top two by far now, so those two should
have been easy. Now after that it gets a little harder.
I'll grant you. Ebiliene Christian, you are just not when
(09:00):
we've played Apple Christian. Once they stop laughing, you're you're
I did not miss that. You're making a bad joke
and starting to laugh. Okay, what else? St.
Speaker 5 (09:12):
Joseph, there's there's a when have we played Saint Joseph.
Speaker 2 (09:20):
Can you think of a time, maybe back in the
day Saint John's. How about another Saint John's. Yes, we
played this too, he says, Saint and you show me
a live He even got the s t j oh
and didn't get all right, So there's one more. Saint Okay.
Speaker 4 (09:41):
St.
Speaker 2 (09:41):
Bonaventure, Lewis, Saint Louis. That's exactly right. I did not
know until I did this that that Saint Louis was
a religious school. I guess I just thought of it
as a city. Saint Louis is actually fourth. And by
the way, Saint Louis is one of the only teams
in the country. We have a losing revo. But Saint
Louis all right? A couple more. Robert Morris, Robert Morris, No,
(10:03):
you're thinking way too small schools. There are still big schools.
You are forgetting that we've played multiple times. You're thinking
that these little, tiny ones. What about the big ones.
There's a whole conference full.
Speaker 4 (10:16):
Of these schools. I got nothing, Bob.
Speaker 2 (10:20):
Okay, the Big East is almost all Catholics? Is Georgetown one?
The Big East is almost all Catholic. No, but that
would have been a good guess to Paul. We've played
De Paul a zillion times. Marquette Creighton.
Speaker 3 (10:32):
I didn't know these were religious schools.
Speaker 2 (10:35):
I'm learning something today. And then Baylor is the last one.
All four of those, I didn't realize we're religious schools. Well,
Baylor is a very big Baptist school. Did you know that? Okay?
All right, last question, since you all did not do
well on this, I'm gonna do first president to do
these things? Okay while they're in office? So this is like,
(10:56):
can you do you know who the first president to
do these things? What is while they're in office? Who
was the first president to send an email? Bill Clinton?
Bill Clinton is correct? Shannon with one point? Who was
the first president to be on the radio NDR? No
(11:17):
anybody else? Give you a free guess here, Drew and Shannon.
Speaker 3 (11:21):
To be somebody from like the nineteen twenties?
Speaker 2 (11:24):
Okay, I mean yes, but so guess so I don't
know anybody.
Speaker 3 (11:27):
I don't know who's president of nineteen twenty?
Speaker 2 (11:29):
All right, you are not good? Who is it? Warren G. Hardy?
First president to be nineteen? I don't know what year
nine around? What you said? John, first president to be
on television. M Carter, Heisenhower, the Carter in the late seventies,
Reagan first person, Racans in the eighties. Do you not
(11:52):
know when TV was invented?
Speaker 4 (11:53):
I have not been able to answer any of these.
I'm just trying to judge.
Speaker 2 (11:56):
Television was invented way before the seventies.
Speaker 4 (12:00):
Do you want dead air or me to name some presidents?
Speaker 2 (12:01):
Give me a guess. I guess Eisenhower, Shannon, uh Fdr
Fdr Shannon with two answers. There you go. First one,
first president to have a Twitter account, Barack Obama. Shannon
is on a roll that is three. Shannon is killing
this game. Shannon the president. First president to.
Speaker 4 (12:21):
Be impeached, Nixon, Nixon.
Speaker 2 (12:26):
No, one way before that, anybody he wanted the crowd
Garfield Andrew Johnson, he was repeating straight after the Civil War.
First president to live in the current White House. Wow,
I don't know you are going to get this. George
Washington designed it, but then John Adams is the one
(12:49):
that lived in it. Now, this one's really hard. One
person got it last night. Only one president's ever been
sworn in by a woman, and it was in unique circumstances.
Why happened does anybody know the president that was sworn
in by a woman. Remember the chief Justice swears you in.
We never had a female chief justice. So why would
(13:11):
a woman have sworn someone in emergency situation assassination? What
would the emergency situation have been where a woman wore
somebody in? Lyndon Johnson? There you go, that's what I fly. Fact.
There you look at that. He got that flying back
(13:33):
on the plane from from Kennedy's assassination. Last one first
president to attend while president a super Bowl Abraham Lincoln.
Abraham Lincoln was a little before the super Bowl. They
didn't they didn't have the ball as a sports Yeah,
and there were battles going on during that period that
(13:54):
would have made it hard. Yeah, uh JFK. It happened
last year. Donald Trump was the first president to go
to uh super Bowl last year. So there you go.
It's a good thing you all didn't come to trivia
last night. I don't know the best, although Shannon would have.
Shannon would have done well. I thought you did very well. Yeah,
(14:15):
there you did, grape Vine. It was very hard. It
was normally we have probably five, six seven teams that
get over one hundred, and only had one last night. Wow,
it was difficult, but you enjoyed that. I loved it.
I don't know about you. I mean you wouldn't have
done well. But eight five nine two eight oh twenty
two eighty seven text machine is seven seven two seven
seven four five two five four. We will take a break,
(14:37):
be right back. The giants have returned. This is KOSR
Welcome back Tucky Sports Radio. Tonight here at Chaos Bar
at nine o'clock Kentucky and Wisconsin. The volleyball watch party
will be this evening. I can't wait. I think it's
gonna be fun.
Speaker 4 (14:56):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (14:57):
The should have a great crowd. I would say, if
you're coming, and I would try to get here a
few minutes early to get your spot and be loud.
Might as well. We have some drink specials tonight. But
it's a big game. Cats have a chance to make
the championship against Wisconsin. The first game is Pitt versus
Texas A and M Are you excited Drew about our
volleyball team with a chance to win the whole thing?
Speaker 4 (15:19):
Very excited? And I've seen a lot of pictures and
videos of fans that made the trip. Maybe a little
jealous that we weren't able to do it go to
Kansas City. But I love seeing that they've got some
support out there already. I assume it's gonna be a
good crowd today and hopefully finish the job. I know
they're the betting favorite, where it's at that point where
you get that anxiety when you have the expectation to win.
You just got to keep pushing forward. Two more times in.
Speaker 2 (15:38):
Twenty fourteen in basketball, we were the underdog in every game,
and then we got to the championship and we were
the favorite and we lost. Now we weren't the underdog
in every game. We've been in the favorite. But now
it's Oh, with Nebraska out, it's there for the taking
and we have to spike the ball. The field did
kind of open up Nebraska Laws. I'm kind of glad
(15:59):
Texas Law.
Speaker 5 (16:00):
Yeah, that was kind of scared to play them a
third time this season, just because the other games were
so close. But this team, Kentucky team, they faced adversity
many times, down to two sets to Texas and come
back and win it.
Speaker 2 (16:11):
Yeah, well, I it should be fun. They've put out
a lot of videos of the players. Nike sent them
this swag bag of like everything. I mean, they and
the players were opening up. You can see how they're
how excited they are. I just think it's gonna be
It's gonna be fun. I mean this fan base, I mean,
(16:32):
volleyball has provided this fan base with its excitement post COVID.
I mean, it really has. Like the best things that
have happened to this fan base post COVID on the
field have been volleyball winning the title, baseball going to
the World Series, and now this again. I mean, I guess,
(16:52):
you know, football, I guess the Will Levish year was good,
and then basketball, I mean, I guess last year the
run in the tournament. But like, volleyball has kind of
carried a lot of our emotion in the last six years.
Speaker 4 (17:07):
It really has, and it's been creating my friends. You know,
we're a bunch of forty year old males and that
we're sending pictures of like watching home our screen or
meeting up at bars. That's never really been the case
for volleyball until recently, but it's been the thing to
get behind and the most exciting sport we've had for
a while now.
Speaker 2 (17:22):
I mean, I will say, definitively, if you were talking
the ten best post COVID atmospheres at ks Bar. Probably
three are UK volleyball games. I mean like it's like
UK volleyball handful of basketball games Trancy when they won
a national title. Yeah, but so I hope it continues
(17:42):
tonight and if they win, I think they play Sunday
afternoon in the finals. So are you gonna let Drew
come tonight? No, you guys are coming, But Drew, if
we go down two sets to nothing, you are kicked out.
Speaker 4 (17:53):
I'll probably be here for a set at best.
Speaker 2 (17:54):
I will require people to literally physically take you out
of the building because I don't know.
Speaker 4 (18:01):
If I have five in me regardless. So it might
be good for the for the ladies.
Speaker 2 (18:04):
Called the last one. They down't to go watch this.
I'm gonna leave.
Speaker 5 (18:06):
They're gonna rally and it happens every time, and they
rallied immediately.
Speaker 4 (18:10):
I got to the light and text the door.
Speaker 2 (18:11):
Yeah all right, I want to so we'll we'll talk
more about that game. I want to ask you about
a comment. Did you see Tane's comments? No, of course
you did. Uh dan Key was asked about UH Nebraska
and he was asked about the portal, and he basically
said something like I just say the kids, be very
(18:35):
careful when you go in the portal, because you may
think you're going to a better situation and you don't,
and then you end up in a worse one. Now,
Nebraska fans don't seem thrilled by that comment. A lot
of comments suggest hey, you're still at Nebraska, you have
a game left. You only went in the portal once
and you came here. I think he later said uping like, well,
(18:56):
I didn't mean me, but what do you What did
you make of that comment?
Speaker 4 (19:01):
I think it was in he was a response to
question about Rayola transferring, But there was a lot of
felt like some truth also in Dane's tone about himself,
you know, and you don't have to hear it from
him to know. I mean, maybe he had a great
time there. I can't speak for his experience, but statistically
it did not work out.
Speaker 2 (19:17):
End up with a worse year than any year he
had here.
Speaker 4 (19:20):
Now they won more games, have another game left. That
means a lot. But statistically it was doesn't seem to
have been the right move because he did take a
dip in numbers.
Speaker 5 (19:28):
Yeah, the offense changed. I think he thought it was
gonna get out there. They think he thought they're gonna
throw around a lot, and they basically went to a
running game most of their offense, and then that Royola
kid got hurt and then the quarterback came in. They
just ran the ball more Rayla.
Speaker 2 (19:39):
By the way, very likely. Apparently it ended up in Louisville. Yeah,
they're after hard. Can you imagine. I mean, the day
he's still got one more year, he ain't gonna go
play for Louisville, is he? No, he's done.
Speaker 4 (19:50):
He's always a drafty.
Speaker 2 (19:51):
Okay, he's done.
Speaker 4 (19:52):
I would love rala Louisville.
Speaker 2 (19:55):
He's not been very good.
Speaker 4 (19:56):
I've never thought he's good. It Actually, it hurt me
a little bit when Dane went to Nebraska because I thought, man,
I've never believed in that quarterback, and.
Speaker 2 (20:02):
I think he'll just think if you look like Mahomes,
you'll be Mahomes.
Speaker 4 (20:06):
And the way he tries to be exactly like him,
he's I don't know, kind of cornball.
Speaker 2 (20:10):
Yeah, but but it was an interesting comment. I mean,
you can't help but read into it himself. With him
and Barryon, it really didn't work out for either one
of them. Do you think it would have been better
for Kentucky and them if they both had stayed here.
(20:30):
You may not be able to speak to that, and
because I don't want to put you in a weird spot,
but Drew, do you think they would have been better
for him if they had stayed here? Because neither one
of them had a better year, and and really neither
one of them won els You didn't win at all,
and Nebraska just won a little bit.
Speaker 4 (20:47):
I still worry that they just needed a reset in
that receiver room. I don't know who the fault is
which direction, but we said at the end of last
season that needed to be blown up. I mean, maybe
if one of them is back and it's but what
if if they had had I mean, I'm just doing
a what if.
Speaker 2 (21:03):
What if they had had Cutter Bowley playing like he
did and they had Dane and Barry And let's just say,
Barryon brings it down a notch, although he didn't at
LSU either, so there's probably not a lot of reason
to think he would have.
Speaker 4 (21:18):
But you know, I think Dane, I mean, Kendrick Law
did just as much as Baryon Brown probably could have done.
At end of the year, Dane I think was missed
more of a go to, you know, go up and
get it receiver. But Barryon, I don't know, kick returning
probably would have helped. You, you know, he's obviously, but
I think once they started going to law later in
the year, he's kind of did what Barrion would have done.
Speaker 2 (21:39):
You're probably right about that.
Speaker 5 (21:41):
You know, the three years Dane was here, he had
a different quarterback every year, and they're gonna bring in
a forth another four years in a row with four
different quarterbacks. You know, I think he just want a
little continuity, man.
Speaker 2 (21:49):
Just you know, by going to a different quarterback, but
one that that at least had a little experience. Yeah,
that's true. He would have had experience, not with him,
but but in general, I think Dane.
Speaker 4 (21:59):
Would have been more helpful than bury on on this team.
Speaker 2 (22:01):
It was interesting because he's right about that, and we
kind of talked about this yesterday when we were talking
about the ad stuff. You know, you can sometimes think
it's time for a change, but that does not guarantee
the next guy is gonna be better, you know, I
mean with Mark Stoops and the same thing is true
with with cal With Pope, we all thought it was
time for a change, but that doesn't guarantee you that
(22:24):
the next guy is better. But it also doesn't mean
that the change was not correct. You know, it's easy
to just go, like, if will Stein doesn't work out,
it'll be easy to go. Well, maybe we should have
just kept Stoops, but it was time for a change.
And then you just have to hope that the next
guy works out.
Speaker 4 (22:41):
Right, Yeah, And when you don't know how they're actually
gonna be, all you can do is get excited, and
that unifies the fan base that had been bickering for you.
Speaker 2 (22:48):
I think that's a key thing because a new guy,
It's exactly right, a new guy does unify the fan
base either way. We'll take your calls. A. Ff nine two,
eight oh twenty two eighty seven. It's Kentucky Sports Radio.
TJ Smith personal injury attorney. Call TJ. He'll make them pay.
Speaker 3 (23:04):
Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage.
Speaker 2 (23:08):

Feb nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven. If
payin stiffness or a numbing sensation preventing you from enjoying
watching your favorite teams, well Drew Drew knows what that's like.

(23:30):
and pains. It's court dot com, KRT dot com. You
got a little bit left in this year or get
your appointment for next year court dot com. It's KRT
dot com. The NBA Commissioner Adam silver Ryan announced that
next year the finals of the NBA Cup will likely
be at a college arena. They said they may do
(23:52):
the semifinals and finals at a college arena and then
Shams chaMaria uh leaked the arena is there considering and
it's Cameron Indoor, It's Indiana's arena. Rupperena and fog Allen
Field House are the four that they're looking at. They
(24:12):
say there are pros and cons to each of them.
Would you like to see the NBA Cup semi finals
and Finals at Rupperena next year? I would love it?
Speaker 5 (24:25):
And Rubs the biggest of those four arenas. So I
think they got a really good chance of maybe landing
that deal that happens, because I think we would pack it.
Speaker 2 (24:32):
The problem they're having is they're not able to draw
in Vegas, so the question is could we draw here?
So let's just think about it. Let's just use this
year's Nick Spurs played for the championship. If Nick Spurs
was in Rupperena, you think we'd fill the place?
Speaker 4 (24:49):
Yeah, I think so. I think there's enough interest in
basketball in the state as we all know. And then
whatever teams you get in the game will bring up
with them from their cities and you have a really
good chance of get some Kentucky guys here.
Speaker 2 (25:01):
Yeah, I mean, I mean last year, so Nick Spurs,
if it was them, Carl Town's yep, you get Deer
and Fox and you get Kelton Johnson. So you have
three guys right there that are they're in it. And
if you happen to get one that is like the
Lakers made it and you get Anthony Davis, or if
(25:22):
you get you know, Tyrese Maxie, You're I mean, Carl
Towns is like that. Yeah, I mean, what if what
if the Rockets made it? What if Reid was playing here,
you know, I mean you could have. I think it
would definitely work. I mean the other thing about if
you think about with Lexington where it's centrally located, is
we're located relatively close for a lot of teams, So
(25:46):
like if it was Lakers, or like if the Bucks
made it, their fans can drive here, right, Pacers their fans.
Speaker 6 (25:53):
Could drive here, Bulls Caves, Bulls, Calves, Hawks, if there's Memphis,
you know, there's a lot of teams who and then
of course if you're in New York you could eat
make an easy trip.
Speaker 2 (26:05):
So I actually think Lexington Ryan would make a lot
of sense. Is the place now? They said the favorite
is probably Cameron Indoor, which makes sense to me except
that that's the tiny arena. Yeah, I mean that's tiny,
like you're gonna have a hard time getting in it.
But I do love this idea in general.
Speaker 5 (26:22):
I absolutely love the idea and just kind of your
argument right there, you'd almost take away Kansas.
Speaker 2 (26:26):
There's the mill of nowhere close and it's hard to
get the thing about Kansas hard to get, hard to get.
They don't have an airport, so you have to fly
to Kansas City and then drive. So there's that's I
think the although I think that's the best environment to
be quite frank with you, it's it's hard to get there.
Speaker 5 (26:42):
It almost think, like you said, Cameron, indoor is almost
too small. I think, have a big event like that.
So if you're down to Bloomington and Lexington.
Speaker 2 (26:49):
Yeah, the only thing about Bloomington is, you know, it's
it's even more centrally located, probably even than we are.
Speaker 4 (26:56):
Yeah, but to be a home game for the Pacers.
Speaker 2 (26:59):
Would have I just think Kentucky would make a lot
of sense too, And I do think this city would
because if it was an NBA game where it counted,
like we've had preseason games here over the years, but
if you're in the NBA game where it counted here,
I do feel like we would we our fans would
(27:21):
would go. I know I would go, wouldn't you.
Speaker 4 (27:23):
Yeah? I think it would be full. And even though
Duke would be cool just to kind of have that
visual of NBA on that floor, it would price people
out too much being so small. I'd want to see
how many fans the NBA could get with being the biggest.
Speaker 2 (27:34):
You think they can feel it.
Speaker 4 (27:36):
I do. And if you were to get a big
name team with a star, like say the Warriors and
stuff were in it, I mean people would drive from
all over this side of the country to come see
the Warriors, their team they wouldn't normally get to see
in person in a big game like that.
Speaker 2 (27:48):
Well, I think that's why it's a good idea no
matter where they go, because I mean, they're trying to
make the NBA Cup a thing that matters. Okay, in
Vegas on any given night, a million things are going on.
But if you're telling me that Lebron is playing down
the street from my house, like I never thought that
would happen, I definitely would want to go.
Speaker 5 (28:10):
You hit on something like this would be a competitive
like they're gonna play their lights out. If you're not
a preseason game where they don't play very hard, this
is gonna be a massive game.
Speaker 2 (28:17):
And at Duke Kentucky, Kansas, especially those three, or even
Carolina if you wanted to, there's not an NBA team
right there, right, so there's a whole group of people
who we never have an NBA game here. That's cool.
And then again to not to just keep selling Lexington,
(28:38):
what is the closest NBA team does. I guess it's
the Pacers, right, but that's two and a half three
hours away. Having it right here bring in like and
if you get it now, you won't know. But if
you get a Kentucky guy in the game, you're not
gonna know because it's a tournament. But if you do, Drew,
forget it. I mean, like carl Towns versus the Aaron
(29:00):
Fox here would have been great.
Speaker 4 (29:03):
Yeah, I think they'd fill it even without one, but
you had a Kentucky player in there, and yeah, people
be fighting over tickets. I just think we're in such
a good place where you can come from Atlanta. I mean,
Cleveland's up there. Those teams probably wouldn't be it nex
Year Cleveland, but even just big cities that have interests
in other teams.
Speaker 2 (29:18):
We're so easy to get to from so many places.
Six hours from everywhere. Yeah, I sometimes say that, but
think about Lexington. Think about how many cities we are
six hours from. We're six hours from Chicago, or six
to seven from Milwaukee, Chicago, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Charlotte, Raleigh, Pittsburgh, Memphis, Nashville, Atlanta.
(29:41):
You know, go the other way. Saint Louis, Like, we're
six We're six hours from everywhere, so why not?
Speaker 4 (29:46):
And from here we're an hour and a half from
what like three different airports, Cincinnati, Louisville. You got Lexton
out here airport.
Speaker 5 (29:52):
Yeah, I think you know, Mark Pope would be all
for it because you bring these recruits in and they
seen him right before for sure.
Speaker 2 (29:57):
You know it'd be a huge advantage whatever school gets. Yeah,
to me, the only two choices are Kentucky and Duke.
That that to me is you'd want to go to
one of those. And I understand why you'd want to
go to Duke, but you're right, you'll price everybody. I
just with the seven thousand people in there about something.
Speaker 4 (30:11):
They all bring friends and family and.
Speaker 2 (30:14):
Who's next. Shit, let's go to Billy and Green Bay? Billy,
go ahead, Billy.
Speaker 7 (30:19):
Hey, what's up?
Speaker 2 (30:19):
Guys?
Speaker 7 (30:20):
So I'm currently driving from green Bay, Wisconsin down to
take Kansas City for the games. You're on the Cats,
and I'm super pumped. However, I'm sitting next to one
of my best friends, Adam, who is a die hard
Bucking fan. He is head to toe dressed.
Speaker 6 (30:32):
In red and white.
Speaker 7 (30:33):
He's got this dorky sweatshirt on that has like a
badger head on it, and he's driving me nuts. I
should acknowledge he is the reason why I have a
ticket to this game. Yes, but I feel like I
need a shot in the arm. I think Big Blue
Nation needs a shot in the arm. And Ryan, I
don't know if you've ever done a women's volleyball pep talk.
Over on the side of the road, get on the knee.
I need to hear one, because.
Speaker 2 (30:52):
Yeah, we can't wait. I don't like that, you know,
he ends up making signs and stuff. I appreciate the
call that I don't think are appropriate for a women's
volleyball pep talk, So I would just say, well, we'll
leave him for football and basketball, but you can do
one in your mind, right, Yeah, I think you're making
a good call here. I just I don't think you
(31:17):
talking about women's volleyball is positive for humanity in that regard.
Speaker 5 (31:21):
Yeah, a couple of my go tos wouldn't work for volleyball.
Speaker 2 (31:24):
That's exactly what I'm worried about. Who's up next, Terry, Terry,
go ahead, Terry.
Speaker 8 (31:30):
All right, guys. In regards to Jaden Quaintons, I think
everybody believes now that he's either going to make his
debut against Saint John's or he's gonna make his debut
against bellaman one of those two. For my argument here
is let's just rip the band aid off. You play
Saint John's on the twentieth, you play Bellamante on the
(31:50):
twenty third. Those three or four days are not gonna
make the difference. He's passed every test that he needs
to pass. Now he's done his In my mind, I
think he's ready to go. I know I'm not a doctor,
but I think he's been cleared, or he wouldn't be
practicing five on five. So what say you got let's play?
Speaker 2 (32:12):
This was gonna be my next segment, so I'll lead
into it right now. I appreciate the call Drew Jadan Quaintan's.
By all indications it seems like he's gonna play against
Saint John's. I say, playing. We had the guy, the
text machine guy say ten to twelve minutes. He guaranteed
nine to thirteen are your money back. I want to
see Jadan quaints that picture of him. It worked for me,
(32:33):
picture of him dunking in practice that UK put out yesterday.
I was like, all right, here we go, bring him on.
Speaker 4 (32:39):
Yeah, I saw the clip that came out of him
just going the length of the court that led to
that dunk that the photo was out there of. But
I agree, just let him go.
Speaker 2 (32:47):
I know.
Speaker 4 (32:47):
I think there's an eternal debate going on right now
putting him on the big stage or letting him come
with an easy team. Just do the top ten pick.
Let him loose, and this is you need to You
can't lose anymore of these non compensations. You need to
win here, a win here, like we had to beat Indiana.
I think we can lose this game. But if we
(33:07):
won this game, we're not back on track.
Speaker 2 (33:10):
But we're kind of close cause I thought go three
and three in those games would would be like the
worst you'd want to do. Two and four is less
than that, but it's not terrible. And the conference is
easier than we thought it was gonna be probably, So
I say, throwing him out there, let's see what happened.
Speaker 5 (33:28):
Why delayed inevitable? If he is ready to go, being
cleared to play, and he's practicing, why wait till the
Bellman game? Throw him out there Saturday and let him,
Like I said, getting aion nine or ten minutes to
get him going for the SECC.
Speaker 2 (33:38):
And you want to get this fan base excited during
the Hollyway Holidays. Throw him out there, have a full
game of Jaylen Lowe and then we're good for him. Yeah.
Like then we could be like, oh, Drew, maybe I
don't even have to think about that game in Nashville
against Kenzaka. Let's like like that didn't happen.
Speaker 4 (33:53):
Yeah, I'm down to forget about that. I'd love to
forget about it. Just what we've seen, the small clips
that are coming out and the reports and stories you're
hearing from behind the scenes, is that he's ready to go.
I just don't think you wait for a cupcake.
Speaker 2 (34:04):
Let him loose.
Speaker 4 (34:05):
See what he has agains, saying juent him.
Speaker 2 (34:06):
It's like one of the worst teams in the country. Yeah,
I mean what is that?
Speaker 4 (34:09):
Of course I'll be dunking on them.
Speaker 2 (34:10):
In that game. Yeah. If you need a new few

Kentucky Sports Radio. Welcome back Tucky Sports Radio. If I'm
nine two eight oh twenty two eighty seven, uh one person,
(34:52):
writes Adam Silver's Duke alumnus, national media expect him to
choose Cameron Indoor. I mean that would make if you're
trying to make the environment good, it would make sense. Now,
the thing is, if you have it at Cameron Indoor,
are you gonna invite the Duke students?
Speaker 1 (35:05):
Like?
Speaker 2 (35:05):
Is that you know what I mean? Like if it's
all rich people sitting in the Cameron Crazy seats, then
it's not as cool if you're gonna have to invite
the Duke students. But then, like, how do you know
who they're gonna cheer for?
Speaker 4 (35:18):
That's good question.
Speaker 2 (35:18):
I mean a big part of what makes Cameron indoor.
The thing is the students there, But if you take
those guys out, well then it's just looks like you're
in a high school area. Right.
Speaker 4 (35:29):
Yeah, I wish they are a way to get crazy
is for whatever teams show up, but that'd be impossible
to coordinate, you know, not knowing then.
Speaker 2 (35:34):
What are you gonna say? The students? All right, all
of you are rooting for you guys are all choosing
San Antonio. So I guess they though could get a
team that has a Duke guy, and then maybe they
would cheer like that. I understand. I think objectively there's
Duke would make a lot of sense for the first one.
But I do think if I'm being objective, my second
choice would be rough. People have mentioned the Young Sinner.
(35:58):
I love Louisville. I think Will should have an NBA team,
But I don't know that if you're trying to get
a college atmossive fear feel, I don't know if you
get that at the Young Center, which is more like a.
Speaker 4 (36:08):
Pro arena in some respects. Yeah, they even go to
their own games there.
Speaker 2 (36:12):
I know.
Speaker 4 (36:12):
I can't talk trash, that's but I mean they don't
even get through college cross hard.
Speaker 2 (36:16):
I didn't know he was a Duke alumnus.
Speaker 5 (36:17):
That kind of makes me think he'll probably at least
go there for the first year, maybe roughed the second years,
kind of rotating around or something.
Speaker 2 (36:23):
I saw a stat and I wanted your opinion on it.
Thirty six percent of Americans say that kids should not
be left home alone for an hour until they are
at least fourteen years old. I saw that stat and
that struck me as way high, like I would think,
and again, you're talking to someone that does not have
(36:45):
a child, but I would think you could leave a
kid home alone at eleven twelve for like an hour,
not over night, not for a week, but like for
an hour, were to go to the grocery or something.
You all, you've been a parent, You're gonna be a parent, Drew.
(37:06):
What's the age that you think you could say, Okay,
I can leave my kid for an hour?
Speaker 5 (37:11):
I was I was gonna say ten, because I feel
like I'm trying to go back and in when when
my boys were ten, they could, you know, take care
of themselves at least for an hour, maybe even a
little more than that. But I wouldn't go much higher
than ten years old.
Speaker 2 (37:22):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (37:24):
I was actually gonna say thirteen before you said the
number when I was figuring where you're headed.
Speaker 2 (37:28):
So, I mean, I'm trying to think what my parents.
I think my parents probably left me alone eleven twelve.
I mean, I'm just guessing eleven or twelve something like that.
Speaker 5 (37:40):
Because you know, thirteen, fourteen years old, you're in middle school.
You're a seventh grader or a fourteen you're yeah, you're
like almost in high school. So you should be able
to take care of yourself at that age. There were
ten you're talking about maybe a fourteen percent.
Speaker 2 (37:52):
Of Americans said not until they're sixteen. No, that's extreme.
It feels like we're having some coddle children. Yeah right,
I mean sixteen you can drive.
Speaker 5 (38:02):
Yeah, that's little a little bit of a sheltered life
right there. I'm going down, like about your fifth grade age,
I think you're about the ends of the age.
Speaker 2 (38:09):
Maybe leave them alf for Yeah, so what age is that?
Speaker 4 (38:12):
I don't know grades at ages. Ten Okay, fifth grade
fills about right.
Speaker 3 (38:17):
Yeah, I think about the sixth for me, I think
about twelve pills about right. Yeah, maybe thirteen, But I
think a twelve year old can hang out right now
when you leaving them there all day long, just an hour, when.
Speaker 2 (38:27):
You left your kid for the first time by themselves,
were you nervous?
Speaker 5 (38:33):
Yeah, you especially like if we're on the road with
you guys, and maybe uh my wife at the time
was working and you know, I'm not there, so the
kids are home by themselves for.
Speaker 2 (38:42):
A while, like literally the very first time.
Speaker 5 (38:46):
Do you remember that, Like the first time you drop
them off at daycare? I remember I cried? You did, yes,
no doubt.
Speaker 2 (38:53):
Interesting. The only time I've felt something like that is
like the first time I parked my car. Cried, cried, cry.
But you know what you get, Like when you buy
a new car and you pull it out of the
parking lot, you don't ever think about wrecking. But when
you buy a new car, when you first pull out
of parking like, you're like, then you park it and
(39:17):
you're like, all right, get keep it away from all
these cars.
Speaker 4 (39:20):
It's exactly like this.
Speaker 2 (39:21):
I mean, I'm not saying it's the exact same children,
probably a little bit different, but that's the only thing
I can relate it to.
Speaker 5 (39:30):
But there's a you know, a part of me when
they get age ten or so you got to start
teaching them some life skills.
Speaker 2 (39:35):
And so maybe what are the life skills you taught
them karate?
Speaker 5 (39:38):
Sure, yeah, you know, taking care of yourself if you're hungry,
may make yourself a peanut butter and joy sandwich.
Speaker 2 (39:44):
You know, figure your out out. You see, that's why
Myron wants to use those catchphras. Uh huh is because
that's the first thing you teach him. That was a
funny segment though, that was really funny, stuck together like
peanut butter and jelly because they were so horrible. Thing
is he means it, Yes, like share to play his
catch phrase from the one game. Oh, I'd have to
(40:06):
pull it up here, but yeah, yeah, pull it up
yesterday Monday. I mean, he he's so serious he wants
to use those and I hope he does. He really
believes he should be a catchphrase guy, and I think
about me.
Speaker 4 (40:22):
I think you should encourage that behavior.
Speaker 2 (40:24):
You definitely should. Yes, I have meetings today with the
Southern miss and Western Kentucky sports information directors to learn
about the team. Very good. Uh.
Speaker 5 (40:34):
He did not like your idea of taking calls though
during the game.
Speaker 2 (40:37):
I was going to get them more. We are taking calls.
Does your producer know you want to take calls? He'll
learn in the meeting. Wow, we are taking calls.
Speaker 4 (40:49):
You're going to change the game.
Speaker 2 (40:52):
We are taking We are taking calls. Who's next, Matt, Matt,
go ahead, Matt.
Speaker 4 (40:59):
Uh Yes.
Speaker 9 (41:00):
A couple of weeks ago, he was talking about Raceland
football team, okay, and I couldn't get I couldn't get through.
In nineteen twenty four, Jack Keen built a race track
and they renamed the community of Raceland. And when he
set that down, he moved to Alexa. He moved to
Alexa to them and built Keenland.
Speaker 2 (41:19):
Yep. And you're telling me a guy built a racetrack
and they named the town Raceland, and then he just
left town.
Speaker 9 (41:27):
He was there four years. Whow rebuilt? He built Keenland
And Keenland is a non for profit. Yeah place, and
their profit goes to children's of charities.
Speaker 2 (41:43):
Yeah. I didn't know that. That's interesting though, that you
can just come to town and build something and then
the town will change the name.
Speaker 5 (41:49):
Right that the original Keenland was it Raceland and now
it's a golf driving range.
Speaker 2 (41:53):
Appreciate the call? Oh was that right? That was the original.
Speaker 5 (41:56):
Original Keenlan is now a driving range in racing. I
didn't know he changed the name of the town Torecelin,
but he built the first Keenland there in Raceland.
Speaker 4 (42:02):
Huh.
Speaker 2 (42:03):
I wonder what the people thought. You changed our name
and then you left ta down. Interesting, I tell them, well,
there you go, Thank you, sir. I did not know
that we will take a break and come back our
number two. We're here at KS Bar and Grill. It's
Kentucky Sports Radio.
